Unpaved path accessible?
Hi all, perusing around LI on Google Maps I found this unpaved path:

https://preview.redd.it/pc5sggh6624b1.png?width=1669&format=png&auto=webp&s=7c18f6b7fc6194f1283fca540b14f8da2f426efe
Much of the west half of this span is marked off as a bike-friendly path on Google but the east half is not. It appears to be a mostly-continuous path which would be really convenient for some of my routes. Is there any reason I can't bike the whole span?

I haven’t used it and do not plan to (I only use Venmo to get $ from my partner) but impulsively signing up for this led to a lot of valuable personal reflection.
Capital One Quiksilver - $0 / $1.6k limit at 29.99%

IN REFLECTION There were some really helpful comments on my first post that I took to heart, and I appreciated the encouragement people showed me! I felt really motivated to come back here with a bit of progress. Someone said to break it down into $1,000 chunks so that has been my goal.
One thing that helped a lot—looking up and categorizing all my expenses for April. I saw where my budget was accurate and where I was overspending, and it helped me pay attention more in May. As suspected, I was making a lot of unnecessary purchases for $20 here, or $10 there…but it added up significantly!
To combat this I calculated a “daily budget” based on funds in my bank account after all expenses. I recalculated this amount daily and it helped me stay on track and in tune with my finances. I talked myself out of buying multiple things by reminding myself they wouldn’t fit the budget.
Related to this, I also noticed that at the midway point of the month is when I started feeling the itch to purchase some non-essentials. I did end up purchasing a couple of small things, but nothing on a credit card and it felt good to be mindful of this—and I can look out for the same impulse next month and be more prepared to curb it. I’d like to just…not do that any more.
Finally, I deleted all credit cards but one from Lyft/UbePostmates. I never actually use those apps outside work, but it helped to consolidate all my reimbursables to one card and just pay it off! I was in another bad habit of charging it all to a card…then spending the reimbursed money. Not this month! :)
I had a few unusual factors working in my favor and a few against, but May was a REALLY strange month for me—I traveled for 17 days (mostly for work), unexpectedly had to go to a ZoomCare while traveling (had to put on a credit card but covered with HSA funds later), and had to renew my license and registration. I am now looking forward to seeing how a more “normal” month shakes out, as well as seeing a lot of overtime on my next check from completing a big project. Some of that will go towards paying off the car registration and the rest towards other CC debt.
Other news…I just started using Gauss to help me track all of this and let the app help decide my payments. Seeing some of those cards fully paid off was a huge mental boost, although it was also a little weird for me to pay just the minimum on some of the cards since I always try to pay more. I will keep experimenting with what works here. I wish my state qualified for the credit line portion of the app but I will keep an eye on it and see.
My partner got a raise and will be able to start contributing $200-300 extra per month. We also made progress on the storage situation and should see our bill reduce next month by $100. I think we would have knocked it out if I wasn’t traveling so much.
See ya’ll in July!

2023.06.04 18:10 maelstrom3 FW Questions (Lake vs rivers, finding shore line, etc)

Hi folks! NJ native, used to do a lot of fishing in the DR canal by Kingston growing up, but haven't fished in years. I'm in northeast NJ (Essex/Union counties) and a friend of mine wanted to pick up fishing again, so I'm looking to get back in it.
  1. Am I better off skipping lakes and sticking to rivers if I don't have a boat? I've not had much luck from the shore using lures, plus hard to identify where the fish might be.
  2. Any tips for finding shore spots to fish from? Or is it just a matter of picking a river and exploring till you find something? Satellite imagery doesn't help and trees are the enemy for casting.
  3. Lures: I've had 90% of my success using Kastmasters and Roostertails (spinners). I've used Senkos, but after gut hooking a huge bass I don't want to risk it (I do C&R). Big crank baits and top water seem more like a southern thing. Any types of lures I should try for sunfish/bass/pickerel?
Thanks!

2023.06.04 15:46 Geek-Haven888 Emmaus United Church of Christ in Vienna needs help today defending against anti-drag protestors

I realize this is last minute But I have just learned about a planned protest at Emmaus United Church of Christ (900 Maple Ave E, Vienna, VA 22180) happening during their Drag Story Hour at 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. today, Sunday June 4. I know it is short notice, but if you're available, please consider showing up to support these families! They were not expecting protesters and have very little support right now, so every single volunteer will make a huge difference.
Im part of a group that helps defend events from these groups. We just need people to show up and form a barrier between them and the families. If you are able, please bring your own umbrella, Pride flag, or colorful sheet!

2023.06.04 08:53 Sjguy81 Investigating a psychopath

To start off its my gf’s father but im not personally attacking him. No bias involved. I have a lot of humint training and its how i got to this point. He had his daughter brainwashed by a constant flow of manipulation. I read through him rather quickly but kept it to myself. She wouldn’t have believed me anyway. He was an inmate in USP Atlanta in the early 80’s when it was a high security federal prison. His daughter and exwife had no clue of this. I kept my distance and just didnt allow any of his games to get to me. My gf and i moved in together and he wanted to move in also. No way. Thats when he went on the attack. Without her know he turned the neighborhood against us, lied to the police about me and even went as far as going to her therapist and tried getting her hospitalized. People eat up his act and he has it down perfectly. But now his daughter knows whos behind the mask. Im trying to figure out what put him in club fed. It happened as a minor and carried him till he was 21. So to go to a usp for a crime as a juvenile it had to be bad.
What i have so far is he told someone he lit a gas station on fire years ago. But thats not club fed worthy. Looking around his hometown history i found a post about a string of fires happened on the same road as the gas station and included an apartment building. I spoke to a friend at the bureau of prisons and in the system hes there but no info beyond high security inmate at usp Atlanta. We figured out that’s because he was a minor. Those fires he would have been 15. Old enough to charge. He lied about what school he went to also. Because i went back in archives and checked year books to see when he disappeared. He took his daughter to the school once to go fishing. The school was in Berlin nj. The school he said he went to was in pennsauken. There is a school in Berlin for kids with behavior issues and there is a lake on the campus. I showed her and that was it. Her mom is in denial or knows and is covering. Because she claims the federal bureau of prisons is wrong, its my fault. I must have put it there.
So im looking for info on charges for the fires in haddon heights NJ around 1978. They happened on station ave. I have his info but if i put it on here its searchable so pm me

2023.06.04 07:48 australiughhh 22 years old, looking for a personal loan to pay for medical fees

I'm currently with CUA Great Southern Bank.
I work 2 casual jobs, averaging $900/fortnight.
My weekly expenditures are under $300 (rent/phone/cagroceries etc).
I've never had a credit card; only used debit/savings in the past.
I don't know what my credit score/rating is.
I'm about to get porcelain veneers which is going to cost me <$15K. I've had a multitude of dental problems in the past and it's a decision I've had over 5 years to think about, with support from my dentist of 15+ years.
I only have dental extras cover with Mildura Health Fund (they're incredible; $24/month with 100% claim back on preventative dental and 70% back on general/major). However, the bulk of my porcelain veneers bill obviously is not going to be covered and I only have a limit of $1050 per calendar year with MHF.
Please assist with the following:
  1. Which institution/credit union should I go with?
  2. Is there a website where I can compare lenders?
  3. Where can I check my credit rating?
  4. How long should my repayment term be (ie. 1-7 years)?
  5. Is there anything else I should take into account that I may have missed?
All help is appreciated.
