Traveling Coast to Coast best options?
2023.06.07 21:49 AppropriateWallaby66 Traveling Coast to Coast best options?
I am joining the peace corps and will live in Costa Rica for two years. I didn't decide on my placement and could live anywhere in the country. I would like to see both coasts during my time there.
If you are northwest or southwest, would it make the most sense to transit through San Jose? It doesn't seem like there are any major roads to the west coast besides the ones going through San Jose.
I will also be taking public transportation everywhere as I am not allowed to drive while there.

2023.06.07 21:21 Somenerdguy Nissan Leaf Opinions
Trying to get a job that’s a 45 minute drive each way and don’t want to put miles on my truck.
I recall the majority on this sub don’t approve of Nissan, but the entry level EV seems appealing to me.
Are the leafs unreliable also?

2023.06.07 21:20 floatingwithin 40 [M4F] #SanJose, CA - older dad looking for a girl who really wants a baby
I'm an older man looking for a girl who wants to be close and intimate with me and is willing to get pregnant. You're tired of waiting for a guy your age and you're turned on by someone like me. You tell me you want a baby and you're ready to let me give you one. It would be sweet to make passionate love with no condoms and you would be off the pill. I'm white mostly but it doesn't matter what race you are. It might happen this summer for us if we try. I'm in San Jose but can meet in Fremont or Milpitas.

2023.06.07 21:08 jchasinga First RV Road Trip from Vegas to Seattle
| Hi, we are a family of 5 - My wife and I, a six-year-old, a baby, and a poodle! We are renting a class C 2011 Fleetwood Jamboree RV (26') out on our first month-long road trip from our home in Vegas up to Seattle/Bellevue. It would be so awesome if we can get some tips and advice from folks who have done this before from RV and travel perspective! Here is our itinerary: [Day 1]: Driving from Vegas past Bakersfield to Sequoia RV park near Sequoia/Kings Canyon Big Stump Entrance (6 hr) [Day 2]: Drive into Sequoia National Park [Day 3]: Drive into Kings Canyon National Park, and then head to High Sierra RV Park in Oakhurst, close to Yosemite entrance (2 hr) [Day 4]: Drive into Yosemite [Day 5]: Head over to Coyote Valley RV Park near San Jose in the bay area (3 hr) [Day 6]: Stay in the Bay Area to revisit old friends and places [Day 7]: Head over to Lake Tahoe KOA (3-4 hr) [Day 8]: Stay in Lake Tahoe [Day 9]: Head over to Redding RV Park in Redding, CA (near Mt. Shasta) (4 hr) [Day 10]: Head over to Waterwheel RV Park, OR near Crater Lake National Park (3 hr) [Day 11]: Stay around Crater Lake and Klamath Falls, OR [Day 12]: Head over to Sandy Riverfront RV Resort near Portland, OR (5 hr) [Day 13]: Head over to Trailer Inn RV Park in Bellevue (3 hr 20 min) We plan to spend the next 10 days in Bellevue and rent a car to explore Seattle (A little nervous to drive the rig into the city), but haven't planned a return trip yet (we have around 8 days for the return trip). Since we are traveling with a baby (and our first time in an RV), most RV parks we reserved mostly come with full hookups and some amenities. I'm a little anxious about our first 3 days driving so long to the first RV park since it is very close to Sequoia and Kings Canyon Big Stump Entrance and I learned that we can only enter Sequoia through that entrance. It's so hard and confusing to get information such as road closures for these parks. Does this seem doable? Any stretch sounds too long? Any advice, please? Again our first time in an RV so we are nervous about everything! Our 26' 2011 Fleetwood Jamboree submitted by jchasinga to RVLiving [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 21:08 milomathmilo Need an opinion on two masters programs in Applied Math ;-;
Has anyone here in a STEM field found it was better for them to leave an amazing program for a much cheaper option? Or on the other hand, leave the affordable one to take out a huge loan? Why did you make either choice? Did it turn out good for you in the long run?
I'm in a similar situation right now. My (current) goals are to go into industry and likely work in scientific computing related jobs. I would like to teach on the side but I don't want to make that my main career so there's that.
I got into (and accepted an offer from) University of Washington in Seattle. It isn't funded because they accepted me into a professional program and I'm out of state, so my loan for one year would be around ~$55k - $60k. But it's a one year program only so that's very appealing, along with the fact that the coursework and research there are both very very interesting. I plan on doing some research as an RA maybe during my degree so that I can get an R&D position afterwards (but also so that it can somehow help fund my degree lol) which is why it seems really nice, but theres little guarantee that I'd actually get a position. I am emailing a grad student in a lab to get some info before I email the main professor to see if they'd be willing to hire me lol.
The second one is San Jose State. I got an acceptance last night after my application was nearly withdrawn because some of my documents didn't get there in time lol. But I ended up still getting in so there's that. For here, I'm local so I wouldn't have to pay any living costs, and tuition is obviously a lot lower. This is a two year program though and I'd likely have to do either a thesis, project or exam to graduate. I also personally did not want to go here, since the coursework isn't as diverse as at UW, but I applied because my family wanted me to so that I can stay with them.
So honestly, it would be amazing if i got to go to UW and actually complete my degree there. Financially though, the second one seems to be the best option and now I'm very conflicted. I don't know which one would be better for me career wise. Thinking of taking out a 60k loan is awful, but I don't know if I'd be happy going to the state school that's very very close to home, and that doesn't let me explore as much with coursework since there's not that many classes offered ;-;
But yeah, does anyone here have any advice/opinions?

2023.06.07 20:42 NDN_Shadow [Share] Looking for roommate, 1B/1B available in Cupertino / San Jose
I have a 1B/1B available in right on the edge of Cupertino border, near San Jose. I just moved in solo into a 2B/2B, and am looking for a roommate to fill the other bedroom.
The complex is City Gate Cupertino. Rent is $1750. Lease is 12 months. Room is a little under 130 sqft not including the closet. There's an in-unit washedryer and the complex has a heated pool and fitness center. Pets are okay with additional deposit + 75 monthly rent.
About me: I'm a 31M software engineer who works hybrid hours and I've been in the Bay Area for over 10 years. I enjoy the typical bay area software engineering hobbies like hiking, board games, video games, etc. I'm also a bit of a cine-phile and an okay musician (piano and drums). I'm more of a nite owl than an early bird, but otherwise I'm pretty lax about my activities and fairly amenable to changes. I also have an adorable and sweet Cardigan Welsh Corgi named Einstein who would love to play with you as soon as you meet with him. He also gets along well with other dogs, and has gotten along okay with cats in the same household in the past.
If you are interested, please DM me for more details.
