2023.05.22 09:05 IB5235 ARAM Shenanigans: AP Nunu and Willump
| Cover Image Welcome to the 34th edition of ARAM Shenanigans, featuring AP Nunu! So anyways, i've been laughing my ass off watching KeshaEUW for the past few days. That sentence alone means you already know what's coming. I have only really used Nunu with AP and never Tank unless i'm playing Ranked, and with the thousands of games of ARAM that i have played for the past year, I would like to say i have found 3 of the best AP Nunu builds each with hundreds of playtests to be grinded to absolute perfection with my playstyle in ARAM. So without any more to say, let's get started: Build Preview So for this edition we have 3 variations of AP Nunu: - Early Game Dominance Route: Focuses on, as the name suggests, early game dominance. It uses Infinity Orb's early flat pen together with the Execute and low MR of champions to "snowball" out of control. Falls off a bit late game just due to a lack of pure AP, but is still dominant due to massive hard engages and sheer area control. High Risk, High Reward since this build can't play very effectively when behind - Mixed Route: A little bit of everything. This variation is easiest to play and is what i recommend when you first try this build since you get very consistent DPS all throughout the game. The addition to having Luden's First item gives you some mana sustain from Lost Chapter passive, which helps out when surviving early game due to more Q heals. - Best Scaling Route: Maximum AP, gives around 730 or something AP or even more if you swap Cosmic for Luden's. This build is obviously more for scaling but feels so fucking good once you reach full build. The addition of RoA and Seraph's gives this build fairly high survivability with the HP and Mana Shield which synergize greatly with one another. The only thing this build lacks is a little lower pick potential on low HP targets unless you can gap-close due to the loss of Infinity Orb. Early Game Dominance - Prophet's Pendant + Amp Tome (Start) = Gives you Magic Pen early, very effective in chunking opponents with fully charged W's and E's. - Infinity Orb = Core Item, increases pick potential highly and let's you snowball games very effectively, this item is countered by healing so picking up an Oblivion Orb ain't a bad idea if they have heavy healers like Samira or Soraka. Also SPEED. - Cosmic Drive = Having the speed early helps with catching low HP targets. It scales with AH but falls off in the late game since the only sources of AH on this build is this, Morello, and Runes. It is still very worth to go if you are ahead for chasing, and if you are ahead, you probably don't lack that much damage to still kill with all your abilities having huge AP scalings. - Rabadon's Deathcap: BEEG PIPI DAEMAG!!! WE WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. - Void Staff: The point where people have around 70-80 MR for Ranged and around 120-140 for Melee's. Very worth for le damage boost. - Morellonomicon = Anti-heal, AP, and some AH for the SPEED for more STRIKES with your bowling ball. - CDR Boots + Glory Enchant (Boots) = CDR for the Cosmic Drive synergy and lower Ability CD, and Glory for the SPEED. Running Ghost Ignite for early pressure and training to not rely on it is most recommended when running this setup. Mixed Route - Lost Chapter + Amp Tome (Start) = Mix of AP and Mana sustain for healing and damage, not as much burst as Prophet's Pendant, but not as much mana sustain as Catalyst start. - Luden's Echo = Some might say it is countered by minions, which it is, but most AP Nunu enjoyers that going in bushes where minions are far away since the Snowball is also unseen when inside a bush. Even without the passive, the sheer amount of stats is also pretty good with the 85 AP, a lot of mana, and a good amount of Ability Haste. - Infinity Orb = Same as the last variation, helps with picking off enemies and snowballing if you have a lead. The Aether Wisp component is also pretty good giving MS to a champ that very much likes it. - Rabadon's Deathcap: BEEG PIPI DAEMAG!!! WE WINDOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. - Cosmic Drive = Speed, and even more speed than the last one due to more Ability Haste earlier thanks to Luden's Echo. - Void Staff: The point where people have around 80-90 MR for Ranged and around 120-160 for Melee's. Very worth for le damage boost. Same as last one, but as a last item. - CDR Boots + Zhongya's (Boots) = Ionian is the same explanation as the last one, Zhongya's or Rocketbelt for more playmaking potential. Ghost Ignite or Ghost Flash is both alright on this setup. Scaling - Catalyst of Aeons + Amp Tome (Start) = High Mana sustain so you can get through the early game. You have a lot more HP but a lot less damage so you play like regular tank Nunu for the first few items. - Rod of Ages = Scaling AP, Mana and HP, with AH mixed in as well. Very good item especially when at max stacks. - Archangel's Staff/Seraph's Embrace = Stack Tear, after you finish, you get very noice big shield that is another layer for enemies to go through especially with your already huge shield from Ultimate. - Cosmic Drive = Speed, and even more speed than the last one due to more Ability Haste earlier thanks to RoA and Archangels giving you MAX SPEED to make up for what is lost on Infinity Orb. - CDR Boot's + Any Enchant you see fit (Boots) = CDR boots for lower Flash and Ghost CD which is the optimal setup for this variation. And you can use everything except Gargoyle's, because it reduces damage. If you want the big shield go Protect and have a 40% bigger R shield. Runes - Phase Rush (Keystone) = Speed keystone which also gives AH. Makes this build so versatile in ARAM as you can pivot into a tank build if you think AP won't work out. Good for both tank and AP since both make great use of the speed. AP Nunu doesn't lack damage anyways - 3 Hunter Runes = AP, Magic Vamp, HP, Tenacity, and Ability Haste. You basically get it all at 5 mins which makes the 3 so useful in ARAM. Bai Bai Thanks again for tuning in to another edition of ARAM Shenanigans, if you have any suggestions just comment down below. submitted by IB5235 to wildrift [link] [comments] |

Anyone else having a rough time?
https://imgur.com/a/J56flbP Last season I hit Emerald 2 easily and was still climbing but ran out of time. I took a couple weeks off and played unranked. Just jumped back in and I am struggling to get out of plat.
S8 I mained Rakan but this season I’m trying to add Nami and Soraka to my hero pool and it’s been tough. I played them both a little last season, some in unranked and ARAM and felt like I had a good handle on their kits. Im not playing well and some games I feel like I’m not adding any value at all.

2023.04.27 03:24 MononokeSpirit Difficulty of ARAM vs Norms
I’m a Soraka main but the prestige Katarina skin is so beautiful I really want to learn how to play her! I normally play enchanters so it was rough picking her up in ARAM, I’m too scared to play her in norms since I don’t normally play mid. I usually play support or ADC. The first time I played her, my KDA was 3/16/34 (16,000 damage) and basically inted that, to 15/9/27 (36,000 damage), which is my 9th time playing her. Is this considered a good progression or not?
So my question is, how hard is Katarina to play in Summoner’s rift compared to ARAM? In ARAM everyone is bunches up together so the ult is easy to hit but I’m not sure what it’s like in norms. Should I invest my time in her? Or should I play more standard midlaners like Ahri or Annie first?
Edit: I’ve been playing league for about 6 months and level 124 if that’s an indication of my skill level. Probably iron/bronze but unranked.

2023.04.16 02:47 K3nnJoe League Could Benefit from Champion Rotation
What I mean by champion rotation is that many champions should be removed from playability from all ranked modes. League has a problem with the sheer number of champions in the game. So many have outdated kites, unbalance-able kits, or unhealthy mechanics. I like Riot's champion updates, but too many champions still need them, damaging the League of Legends experience. It is also making it impossible for new players to get into the game due to the massive number of champions they have to learn to play. These are similar problems to what Legends of Runeterra had, but since card games are used to having rotation, LoR instituted rotation and fixed all those problems. MOBAs are not used to rotation, but there has never been one to the scale of LoL, and it is time to add rotation to LoL. Rotating out some champs would open up design space for new champs, which could be better designed with those mechanics (for example, I have Morgana rotating out not because she is a bad champion but because I think they could make a more exciting kit that has black shield).
I propose they rotate many champs (the ones I think could be rotated are listed below) and make those champions only playable in fun game modes, including ARAM, URF, and an Eternal game mode. Those rotated champions are not playable for Normal (so new players learn them first), and all competitive game modes are solo/duo, flex, and pro. The playable ones should be selected to make the best play experience possible. Then at the beginning of each pre-season, rotate out some more, add some back, and bring in champion reworks.
My imagined rotation is broken into three categories. Actual Riot employees would make a list that is 10x better than the one below, but I think it gives an idea of what I am thinking. Some might seem weird, but I tried to remove some from every role and type. And some fall under a few categories, but I just placed them under one. And I imagine the list Riot would make would include many more.
Outdated: Master Yi, Quinn, Shaco, Tryndamere, Gragas, Singed, Kennen, Zyra, Corki, Alilstar, Shyvanna, Jax, Xin, Wukong, Teemo, Twitch
Unhealthy Mechanics: Evelynn, Pyke, Hiemberdinger, Katarina, Kogmaw, Morgana, Malphite, Akshan
Balance Nightmares: Soraka, Yuumi, Jarvin IV, Tahm Kench, Ryze, Akali, Camille, Aphleios, Kalista, Azir
Extras to even out roles: Thresh, Tristana, Xerath, Poppy, Trundle, Annie, Anivia, Syndra
Interested in people's reactions (I am assuming extremely negative). The game would feel much better if Riot picked 100-120 champions for the best play experience in ranked play.

2023.04.16 01:13 heaDdleSs why does this happen in aram?
so i was playing aram the other day and as always dealing with 4 ranged champions as a melee this was fine because our team have 4 ranged champs as well but i forgot one minor detail
the enemy team was full of lvl 50s, us 2 lvl 50s and 3 lvl 10 - 20 you could imagine how one sided this game was ( 5 - 32) they had senna, soraka, kai'sa yi and ashe this kind of combination in aram is a nightmare, tons of cc high damage, i dont get why this always happen to me, i need to go to the therapist after every game like this

2023.04.14 08:23 LoLBakami League of Legends subreddit time capsule from 10 years ago
/leagueoflegends Time Capsule reopened 10 Years later
It has been 10 years since the time capsule was originally posted. I thought it would be nice if I could make an updated post for it. Please note that this is not a recap of the past decade, but more like how the game has changed from a decade ago.
Original post for the time capsule! Today's date is 14th April 2023.
Champions: There were 51 new champions released making it a grand total of 163 champions in the game, Milio being the newest.
There has been 24 champions that undergo major gameplay and visual reworks since; Fiddlesticks, Kayle, Nunu & Willump, Ryze, Sion, Warwick, Evelynn, Gangplank, Taric, Udyr, Poppy, Pantheon, Morderkaiser, Akali, Galio, Urgot, Swain, Irelia, Trundle, Karma, Yorick, Wukong, Xerath, Graves, Volibear, Sejuani, and Fiora (Lots of arguments could be made for other champions to be on this list, but I only wanted to focus on the ones that has gotten a complete makeover in gameplay or visual, so champions like Maokai where his ultimate was his only big change does not make the cut. My only exception was Graves, his changes weren’t drastic, but it was big enough to change his gameplay entirely)
Conversely, there are 38 champions that had not received any large changes in their kit; Annie, Jax, Master Yi, Morgana, Sivir, Twisted Fate, Singed, Tryndamere, Twitch, Karthus, Cho’Gath, Anivia, Blitzcrank, Janna, Malphite. Nasus, Gragas, Kennen, Lux, Renekton, Jarvan IV, Nocturne, Lee Sin, Vayne, Orianna, Leona, Riven, Ziggs, Nautilus, Lulu, Hecarim, Varus, Jayce, Kha,Zix, Elise, Nami, Vi, and Thresh.
Rumble’s win rate is at 47.5% today in solo queue, 148th highest in the game. Nilah is the highest with 53.5%.
Caitlyn’s pick rate is at 15.9% today, 4th highest in the game. Jinx is the highest with 25.9%.
Karma’s win rate is at 48.2% today, 20th lowest in the game but also higher than Rumble by four spots. K'Sante is the least with 44.4%.
Urgot’s pick rate is at 3.2% today, 44th lowest in the game. Ivern is the least with 0.8%.
There are
five six black champions in League of Legends; Lucian, Senna, Ekko, Pyke, K’Sante, Rell
Yordle Counter: 15 (Fizz’s lore has changed since to make him a Yordle with the addition of Gnar, Kled, and Vex being added)
Skins: There are currently 1510 skins in the game with 9 more coming with the Nightbringer, Dawnbringer, and Inkshadow skins.
There were 564 total skins in the game during the time of the post, so Riot has been making an average of 95~ skins per year in the past decade.
Leona and Yasuo are tied for the most legendary skins (3) There are 18 champions tied for the second most legendary skins (2); Ahri, Ashe, Caitlyn, Cho’Gath, Corki, Darius, Ezreal, Heimerdinger, Lee Sin, Lux, Pyke, Riven, Soraka, Teemo, Thresh, Tristana, Vayne, Zed
Miss Fortune has the most skins (19) Lux has the second most (18) Ezreal has the third most (17)
There are now six Ultimate skins; Pulsefire Ezreal, Spirit Guard Udyr, DJ Sona, Elementalist Lux, Gun Goddess Miss Fortune, K/DA ALL OUT Seraphine.
Game in General: The 2 maps currently available are Summoners Rift and the Howling Abyss. The Proving Grounds, the Crystal Scar and the Twisted Treeline are all removed from the game.
There are only 2 permanent game modes now, 5v5 Summoner’s Rift and 5v5 ARAM. 3v3 and Dominion (It's long and gone) are both removed. A 2v2v2v2 game mode is in the works.
Teamfight Tactics is a game mode released separately from the main game, but uses the same client.
The current standard meta is still Solo top, Jungler, Solo Mid, and an AD Carry with Support bottom lane.
List of Current servers: EUW, EUNE, NA, Brazil, LAN, LAS, Turkey, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Philippines, OCE (formerly known as Australia), Russia. SG (Singapore, Malaysia, & Indonesia), TW (Taiwan, Hong Kong, & Macao), Japan, and the PBE server.
The client still runs on spaghetti codes.
Competitive: NA LCS Season 3 Spring ended with TSM winning with a record of 26-10 after Wildturtle replaced Chaox as ADC in the middle of the split.
Where are the teams now:
Team Curse along with its entire roster merged with Team Liquid in Season 5.
Team Dignitas would disband in Season 7, but later rejoin in Season 9 after acquiring Clutch Gaming’s spot in the LCS.
TSM Snapdragon AKA
TSM is one of the longest standing names in the game, being in the league even before the creation of the LCS, but rumored to be selling their spot soon.
Counter Logic Gaming, alongside TSM, have also been in the LCS since the beginning, but they were just acquired by NRG and will be rebranding this coming 2023 Summer Split.
Good Game University was renamed to Team Coast for the 2013 NA LCS Summer Split.
Team Vulcan was renamed to XDG Gaming after one season.
Team MRN disbanded after failing to qualify for a spot in the 2013 NA LCS Summer Split.
Complexity disbanded after failing to qualify for a spot in the 2015 NA LCS Spring Split
10 years ago,
Cloud 9 was not yet a team in the LCS. Today, they have just won their 6th LCS title.
EU LCS Season 3 Spring ended with Fnatic beating Gambit Gaming in a close 5 game series and after a dominant split where they went 27-9.
Where are the teams now:
Gambit Gaming disbanded in Season 6 and Team Vitality replaced their LCS spot.
Fnatic remains as one of Europe’s most popular teams and still plays in the LEC today.
SK Gaming leaves the LCS after Season 5, but later rejoins in Season 9 as part of the LEC franchise program.
Evil Geniuses would leave the EU in Season 4 and Alliance takes their spot in the LCS.
Copenhagen Wolves would be relegated from the LCS after Season 5.
Against All Authority,
GIANTS Gaming, and
Dragonborns all failed to qualify for a spot in the 2014 EU LCS Spring Split, but
GIANTS will later rejoin the league in Season 5 until Season 9 where they are not accepted as one of the franchised teams in the LEC.
World Elite AKA Team WE still plays in the LPL today, but definitely not as dominant as before, winning only one domestic title in the past decade.
TSM beat a Korean team for the first time at World 2014 against Samsung White who defeated TSM in a 3-1 series and went on to win the entire tournament.
SK finally beat Fnatic in the 3rd week of the EU LCS 2013 Summer, with a record of 3-1 against Fnatic at the end of the season.
Today,
G2 Esports have secured their 10th LEC/EU LCS title in the 2023 LEC Winter format.
LCS Casters:
Phreak, after over 13 years, announced at the end of 2022 that he would be retiring from shoutcasting and instead work on the Riot’s game design team.
Kobe, previously known as
Kobe24, is still a caster for Riot Games and the LCS.
Jatt worked as caster for the LCS until he became a coach for Team Liquid in Season 10, but he is now back as a freelance caster and analyst for the LCS.
Rivington AKA
Riv, has stopped casting for the LCS after Season 10, casted for the Valorant Champions Tour for a bit, and now is a freelance caster as of 2023.
Deman and
Joe Miller (Joe 'Joe ' Don't call me Joe Miller' Miller' Miller) announced their departure from Riot Games in 2014 to work at ESL where they are still at today.
Jason Kapla is now a caster also for the ESL.
Quickshot, renamed from
Qu1ksh0t, still works as a play-by-play caster for the LEC.
Competitive League of Legends is still yet to be broadcast on television to the best of my knowledge. League of Legends have been broadcasted in multiple television channels around the world.
League of Legends All-Star has not been held since 2020 due to its low viewership numbers during the pandemic.
The LCS coverage on Twitch today is around 110,000 viewers which is about the same or even lower than it was 10 years ago.
Misc: Teemo is still in the game, and so is
Y̴̱̯͂̓̕͠u̴̙͛͗̐u̴̙͈͊́͆̄̚m̵̱̿͆̃̿̕i̷̜͎̔̒͌.
Pingu has not yet been released and I am starting to think that he never will.
Urf The Manatee was murdered and Warwick now wears his skin.
CLG Documentary is finally out, but so is the org.
League of Legends is still not yet an Olympic Sport, but was one of the events played at the 2018 Asian Games and looking to be played again this year at the 2022 Asian Games (delayed due to pandemic)
/leagueoflegends front page ten years ago what they thought /leagueoflegends would look like today 10 years ago Today's front page /leagueoflegends currently has 6,264,034 summoners.
windyknight I hope you reached Diamond.
lolisn4444 you do not have to worry that you might still be in Bronze V if Riot removes it.

Soraka shouldn’t b allowed to build Warmogs in ARAM. Completely negates her weakness/trade off.

2023.04.09 14:05 lordavigi Do you think Riot would consider disabling Warmog's Armor in ARAM?
Hey everyone,
As an avid player of ARAM, I believe that Warmogs should be removed from the game mode. Here's why:
- The first rule of ARAM is that returning to base does not restore your health. Additionally, the lifesteal effect from minions is intentionally reduced in ARAM to prevent certain champions from fully healing off a single wave. The intended source of healing in ARAM is the Health Relic. However, Warmog breaks this rule in ARAM .
- It gives tanks an unfair advantage: Warmogs is a tank item that allows players to quickly regenerate health when they're out of combat. This makes it incredibly difficult for opposing teams to take down tanks, as they can simply retreat and heal up quickly. In ARAM, where there are no opportunities for players to heal other than relic, this can be incredibly frustrating.
- It encourages passive play: Because Warmogs encourages players to retreat and heal up quickly, it can lead to a more passive playstyle. Instead of engaging in team fights and trying to take down opponents, players may choose to stay back and wait for their health to regenerate. This can make for a less exciting and dynamic game.
- Warmog Soraka W spam exists.

2023.03.26 21:34 BreezeTheBlue Fixing the Key Yuumi Issues: A Re-Rework!
Long Post Ahead!
I am aware that many people develop rework ideas for champions, but I intend to follow Riot's patterns and keep the rework similar to the champion as she is now. With that said, I, a Yuumi lover, recognize the primary point of contention among League of Legends players is the attaching/untargetability mechanic. Additionally, Yuumi mains seem to hold disdain for Riot forcing them to be attached at all times. I will present my solutions here:
Feline Friendship: provides ability bonuses to the best friend (will get to that mechanic soon). She still heals herself and collects a heal from attacking with AA or her Q. The heal animation is the same for both her and her BF/target. If another player is not targeted, she gains the additional heal.
Prowling Projectile: increased range and damage, and is able to be steered for a short time before accelerating. Is Empowered after a short time, and slows enemies.
You and Me!: rather than attaching and becoming un-targetable, Yuumi selects her best friend at the start of a match. Yuumi's heals and shields on this target are empowered via Feline Friendship. Yuumi can continue to roam freely and assist other players, but is still semi-connected to her Best Friend (animation is the same with the BF icon under the player she chooses). She can select this ability again to dash to an ally and heal them after she collects a heal from her passive. This does not Proc Aery (that is reserved for the shield).
Bop n Block: select either herself or an ally to shield for a short time (procs Aery). Her BF will have additional effects (shield is stronger and lasts longer, and provides a small speed boost).
Final Chapter: Yuumi unleashes the power of book to fire 6 waves of magical energy at enemies. She can steer these waves and move around during the channel. Enemies are stunned for 3 seconds after being hit by 3 waves. The waves are sped up and reach farther, similar to pre-rework Yuumi. The waves heal allies inside of them as well as CCing and damaging enemies.
Additional Information: Yuumi's AP ratios can be increased to compensate for the removal of attachment. She will be able to choose between a full support utility build (Moonstone, Ardent Censer etc.) and a full ap poke build. Keep her AP ratios balanced so that AP builds do not spin out of control, focusing AP buffs on her heal and shield, rather than damage. A damage build will gain boosts from items. Her health should be increased so that she can survive, since she will have no body shield to rely on. Her other defenses can be built through support items that provide magic resist, but she should still have reasonable vulnerabilities so she can be shut down the same way Soraka would be in laning phase if she makes bad decisions/bad positioning.
The goal with this design is as follows: eliminate attachment and un-targetability to remove what many see as an unfair design and an afk playstyle. AFK playstyle is deleted. Yuumi remains a support that newcomers and longtime fans of her can enjoy with mechanics that require some decision making and skill. People enjoy her free roaming playstyle more, and she can now be a stronger, balanced enchanter alongside Lulu, Soraka etc. without becoming a drain on allied and enemy teams. The BF/healing mechanic would be the main adjustment as everything else is either just a buffed skill or better stats for Yuumi. The Best Friend mechanic is reasonable as it lets Yuumi select who gets stronger heals and shields (which is still her primary focus, although poking and helping push lane is still necessary), but her non BFs would still reap the benefits. One option is to provide her with 3 BF charges so that she can change her BF, in case of an inting marksman or a leaver. This mechanic is reduced to 2 in ARAM. This keeps her focused on buffing her marksmen in laning phase the way a Soraka would. Additionally, this rework is a semi-revert of her old kit (minus the You and Me changes), which hopefully lets players experiment with different builds and runes. I want to bring back the days of Dark Harvest, full AP Sorcery and other builds being used with success. Flexibility is key.
Some adjustment nerfs/buffs would take place as in normal. but I believe eliminating the attachment/invulnerability aspect of her kit will benefit both her players who want an active playstyle, and her enemies who feel have an un targetable enemy is unfair (hopefully reducing the hatred for her). Please let me know what you think of my suggestions here, and if you have any questions. Thanks!
