2023.06.02 01:16 hquinn17 Feeling defeated and desperate, looking for advice and strategies from people who understand
TW: eating disorder and mental illness
This is an honesty post out of desperation and trying to break the chain of self loathing.
Growing up I was always the skinny girl, even though I ate like a typical teenager. When I got older I was out on my own pretty young and money was hard to come by so I only ate when I could. When my situation improved I got so obsessed about everything I was eating until it turned into a full blown eating disorder. I felt like no one would want me if I wasn't skinny. I have a whole fun box of mental illness, which as I get older have taken over my life. Because of them, I felt the need to have some level of control so controlling what I ate was the only thing I had control over. I had my first child in my mid to late 20s, that paired with getting out of a very unhealthy marriage, I realized that looking healthy was much better than looking skinny. I found a wonderful man that helped me see in myself what I couldn't see when I looked in the mirror. I had my second child in my 30s, and everything changed. I came home the same weight as I went unto the hospital with, which was the most I had ever weighed, 30 lbs more then my wedding day with my second husband. I also came home with significant Diastasis Recti.
This new found weight paired with my fast worsening mental state cause a whole slew of problems. I started doubting my husband's feelings for me, hid from photos, stopped going out in public, I wouldn't even let the lights be on when being in bed with my husband.
During covid I gained an extra 25lbs, which set me off in a rapid decent. My husband tried his best to help me see myself how he saw me, he has never once made me feel bad about myself, but I did it enough for the both of us. It didn't take long for me to turn back to an eating disorder, but the worst part was it didn't even work, I still gained weight. This rolled into the worst depressive episode of my light which landed me into a mental hospital. Since then I've done everything to keep out of my disorder, started a low calorie diet, eating 3 timed a day, limiting sugar, even some moderate cardio. I lost 15lbs and was on a good track.
In February this year I had a major health situation that unfortunately has made it impossible to do any kind of cardio, I can't even go from sitting to standing without holding onto something for support. I kept my healthy diet for the most part, but I've lost nothing. I see myself in photos and I cringe. I purged my closet of all my pre baby clothes because what was the point of hoarding them. My mistake was I tried each piece of clothing on convinced something would fit. I had a complete mental breakdown the further into my closet I got. My husband came home to me sobbing in our closet.
Please, does anyone know how to help? I'm so desperate I've even googled plastic surgery but that's so far out of our finance range. There has to be something? Anything? That someone can do who can't do cardio type things. I just want to be able to look at myself in the mirror without being disgusted, I want my husband to see me with the lights on, I want to be able to go out in public without someone asking if I'm pregnant. I'm desperate.

2023.06.02 01:16 alessabella Those who take trace minerals
What is the best brand? I used to buy it from the trace minerals brand but they increased their price. I also recently read something about how how sourcing minerals from Utah water can be an issue bc the water is high in mercury? Someone mentioned using the Aussie trace minerals brand due to the water source being cleaner and close to Antarctica? Is there any truth behind any of this?

This has been happening to me for a few weeks now. When I edit the Volume pricing levels or even turn it off using the desktop site to make listing revisions (edits) the changes DO NOT SAVE. The same is also true if I revise a listing and remove volume pricing totally it does not save.
So if you make any revisions to volume pricing it seems the only way to get them to save is from

I actually got a pop up survey from eBay asking me to rate the auto send offers features. When I gave it the lowest possible score a few minutes later I got an email from eBay bouncing back the survey feedback to the team in charge of auto send best offers.

2023.06.02 01:14 CokeZ3ro Highlighting Random Falcons until the Season Starts: CB Deji Olatoye
Ayodeji Olatoye was born July 20th, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio. Olatoye attended Dublin Scioto High School. A three-year letterman in football, Olatoye also earned All-Central District Division II honors. His senior year, Olatoye played 7 games and recorded 49 tackles and 1 pick-six. He also played basketball, soccer, and track and field (in which he set the school record for the high jump, 6ft 4in).
In 2009, Olatoye accepted a football scholarship from the University of Colorado. He redshirted his first season. As a freshman, he recorded 6 special teams tackles and forced one fumble. Sophomore year he produced 10 tackles and defended one pass over 4 games. In his junior year, Olatoye transferred to
North Carolina A&T. That season he started 10 games, recorded 10 tackles, 7 passes defended, 3 Interceptions, and 2 fumble recoveries. Senior year he played in 11 games making 39 tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes defensed. That season, NC A&T’s defense allowed 277.9 total yards-per-game, including 187.6 passing, and just 16.8 points-per-game.
Olatoye was signed as an UDFA by the Ravens after the 2014 NFL Draft. He would be waived August 25th and signed to the practice squad, before being released in September.
On October 8th, the Chiefs would sign Olatoye to their practice squad after CB injuries and would be signed to a reserve/futures contract later that season. He would be waived and then cut from the practice squad the following season.
On September 9th, 2015, Olatoye was signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad. He would be promoted to the active roster in November. Olatoye would finally get his first NFL start Week 15 against the Bills to replace an injured Morris Claiborne. He recorded 5 tackles, 1 pass defended, and an interception. Olatoye would struggle the following preseason and was released on September 3rd.
On September 5th, 2016, Olatoye was signed to the
Falcons practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on November 23rd. Olatoye recorded 2 tackles in SB LI. The following preseason he would be waived by the Falcons.
In October 2017, Olatoye was signed by the Bucs before being dropped in December.
December 14th, 2017 would get a 2nd stint on the Falcons’ practice squad to replace C.J. Goodwin, only to be waived on the 29th.
In 2019, Olatoye joined the Orland Apollos of the AAF. He started out on the IR and would be activated in March. The league ceased operations in April 2019.
Olatoye was drafted in the 1st round during phase 4 of the 2020 XFL Draft by the
Houston Roughnecks. He played in all 5 games before COVID closures, earning 4 tackles.

2023.06.02 01:14 Soknardalr How likely am I to make a switch to data engineering?
Alright so let me give a bit of a background:
I’ve been working as a software consultant for 1.5yr which means 50% of my job is working directly with our clients, understanding their business needs and figuring out the technical requirements.
The other 50% goes like this:
- Writing large SQL queries for ad hoc reports used in business analytics/intelligence
- Writing backend code in C# and VB.Net (legacy codebase) for ETL operations (typically used for populating our data warehouse), for batch updates of databases (we receive bulk data from various government agencies), creating streams to automate various file jobs, as well as application side data
- Optimizing SQL queries (some queries involve joining several tables with hundreds of millions of rows each), indexing tables, creating new tables, etc
Typical tools I use are SSMS and Visual Studio. Nothing fancy.
I’m also doing a masters in computer and information technology at University of Pennsylvania. I’ve taken data structures, algorithms, machine learning courses and currently studying big data analytics. So I’m proficient with Java and Python (as well as data science tools like pandas, scikitlearn) and currently learning Spark and Hadoop in the big data course.
UPenn also partnered with AWS and offered us a project opportunity to set up EC2, S3, RDS. I just received my cloud practitioner certificate.
What are my chances that I break in to the data engineering field given I don’t use any popular cloud or recent data engineering technology? All job listings I’ve looked at requires 3+ years of Azure, GCP, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake etc.
I’m open to learning these technologies on my own but due to my company’s old tech stack I wouldn’t be professionally using them. At best at a personal portfolio/project level.

2023.06.02 01:14 emperorsnewgr00ve worried about post op size
My surgery is in 4 days and ive been making myself sick with worry about everything that could possibly go wrong during surgery from my boobs not being small enough to dying on the table to necrosis ect ect
If I show my surgeon my ideal boob size and say “i really want a B cup, please try to avoid skin on skin contact” will they listen ? i know they cant guarantee but will they try to at least ? i’m in the uk getting it on the NHS and i know they have a whole thing around “doing what suits you best” which i understand but im just terrified my wants will be ignored and il end up coming out as a D cup or something bigger. Ideally id be a C at biggest but im worried the surgeon will just chop out a little bit and il still be stuck with boobs i dont want. I’m not sure why I have it in my head that they do it strictly for medical purposes and not looks as well but from what I remember the photos of other people they showed me they werent really the results id have wanted personally but I dont really get to be picky as hes the surgeon in my area. Just starting to stress a bit now, the US seems to have so many more options and I cant even look at his portfolio as I cant find it anywhere. I’m already worried about complications anyway but the fear of having boobs I don’t want and my results disappointing me is worrying me even more

2023.06.02 01:14 Pc8290 Help with great grandfather. Brick wall for 2+ years
I recently found out that my maternal grandmother was adopted and that her real father was Andrew Christopher Faircloth from Conway, Horry County, South Carolina. I have been tried to find out who my great grandfather's parents were and what happened to him, as he seems to disappear in the 1920's and there's no death record. So far I keep hitting brick walls.
On Ancestry, of all the potential ancestors (eg his parents) the most shared cM of DNA that I have is 8 to 10 cM. I had my mom tested and she shares no more than I do.
Here's a link to his WWI draft card; he was married to my great grand mother at the time and living in NC. This is 7 to 8 years before my grandmother was born, and shortly after her birth my great grandmother remarried.
https://imgur.com/a/xGwsoj9 If anyone is familiar with Conway, Horry County, and especially the Faircloth family in the area, please comment or send me a chat. I'd really appreciate connecting and trying to at least narrow down some possibilities.

2023.06.02 01:14 ExpStealer How do I deal with a boss' sudden unrealistic expectations?
For context, I work for an auto transport broker, and have for almost 4 years. In this time I've gone through several performance assessments and have had different bosses. Except for one time when I had to do the night shift whilst taking medication that made you sleepy, I have had absolutely no issues with productivity. At no point did management ever approach me and say "Hey, we think you're too slow, and would like you to do more in a shift".
On the aforementioned performance assessments, I always scored the second highest possible score for utilization (there are five possible scores, so this means I partially exceed expectations). Add to this the fact that there's a bonus scheme for my specific task (responding to emails), which even at my current untilization gets me a roughly 27% increase in my net salary.
My most recent ex-boss, whom I worked under for around 2 years, took on a different role in a different department recently (sadly; she was a great boss). Normally, there's at least an internal job opening for the position when this happens. This time, however, there was nothing. After we had effectively no leader for a short period of time, our current boss' boss basically waltzed in and started bossing us all around literally out of the blue. No word from upper management to let us know, no announcement, nothing. One day he just started giving orders. The person that actually is supposed to be our boss and apparently holds the position, has said nothing. He's basically abdicated from the position and is just a regular employee to me.
So this new boss started calculating utilization for the department, and I kid you not, except for two or three people, basically nobody gets anywhere near the minimum of 85%. At best, they're at 70-something percent. Those are the exact same people, the majority of which have worked in this department for at least a year. The only time our ex-boss (same one from above) had a problem with someone's utilization, they got fired after refusing to improve.
I responded to 83 emails today, and by my calculations, even that puts me at 68% utilization. He's basically insinuating that I'm sitting around doing nothing for a third of my shift, which is a little over 2.5 hours. I can tell you, this couldn't be further from the truth. I work all shift and I don't so much as look away from the monitor. I admit this is a bit faster than the usual pace I work at, but I'm willing to make it the new normal if it needs to be.
However, boss basically wants us to do 103 emails just to barely reach 85%, and well over this for anything higher. As the person with the most experience responding to emails (this is literally my only task and has been for over a year now), I can tell you that pulling 100+ emails every shift as the bare minimum to not get fired is absurdly high. It's not impossible to reach if you're a high performer, but I absolutely don't believe the average person can reach that kind of number all the time.
Instead, I think the number should be 70. Maybe 80. At that level you don't have to work at such an accelerated pace that you start making errors or forgetting things trying to not get fired even though you're by far not slacking off.
So my question here is how to deal with this boss's expectations? What would be the best approach to convince him (or those above him) that he's expecting a bit too much out of a single person? Obviously, I don't want to lose my job over this, but just thinking of it is anxiety inducing.
Edit: Something I forgot, but might be relevant - I work from home, fully, and am never in the office.

2023.06.02 01:14 built_right Best way to network in construction?
Hey -- working as a PE building multifamily. I know tons of industries have ways to network, meet leaders, engage with other people in your same position etc. Lots of people even hold professional dev events. Doesn't feel like I really get a chance / meet people from other GCs at all.
Wondering if anyone has found really good ways to do that in construction? Or places where you're meeting people that do what you do? Even like...subs /architects etc. so I can start to make the right community?

2023.06.02 01:13 heatmeiser717 Mailing adult chickens thru USPS?
I’m about to move across the country and want to give my 4 barred rocks to my mom since I can’t have them in my new place.
I think mailing is the best option, has anyone mailed adult birds through USPS priority mail and if so, any tips to make sure they make it ok?

2023.06.02 01:13 Swede318201 Should I wait for the quest 3?
I've been looking into getting a quest for the last few weeks for both gaming and work (I'm a freelance data scientist, but I live in a 500 sq ft house with my wife, 2 toddlers, dog, and cat, so I don't have space for a desk, key alone a huge multi monitor setup).
I've looked up every spec and review for vr and ar devices and decided a quest was the best option for my use case without breaking the bank. I was originally going to get a renewed quest 2 (plus a bobovr M2 head strap, and prescription lenses from either vrwave or reloptix).
But the prospect of the good color passthrough, pancake lenses, sharper displays, thinner body for better balance, and longer support life since it's the newest device have got me really torn. The downside is that it's going to be more money, a long wait for the device to release (as I was wanting one within the month), and an even longer wait for good accessories to make working some long hours on it more comfortable.
My only experience with vr was the original playstation VR headset years ago when it first released with PS4, so it's not like I'm used to a high level of VR to be impressed.
I'm seriously 50/50 on this. By the time I get the quest 3, I may have wasted a bunch of time being unproductive. But if I get the quest 2, I worried I'll be disappointed knowing that there's a better experience for a slightly higher investment coming in a few months.
Thoughts?
