2023.06.03 23:00 AutoModerator What is #VALZUBIRIAGENDA and some ideas and insights
The 3 basic parameters of hashtag #Valzubiriagenda:
- We artists and everyone else can write and self-publish art- and artist-related books: memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs. Books are forever. Pamphlets and brochures are not books.
- We announce a schedule of increasing prices of our art pieces, which includes quantities (scarcity numbers) per price point and overall (the total quantity of art pieces we might ever make). This helps art traders, art investors and art collectors speculate or even stop speculating and instead join a community of investors working together to hopefully skyrocket to the higher announced prices in a shorter span of time.
- We can use the NFT world, because NFTs provide the tracking (who owns what) and trading.
We can also not be involved with NFTs. Stores and individuals can help sell art using online presence and our catalogs in the stores. If this trends, or once this trends, even expensive art can be sold by neighboring businesses, without exclusivity. Commission systems do not have to be standardized. Art investors can produce their own catalogs to leave at the cafés. Even the cafés can produce their own catalogs.
Valzubiriagenda NFTs NFTs only came about a few years ago. But I had been working on this since the 1990s. I wrote a book,
Valzubiriagenda, along with fellow artist
Silverio Perez, and released it in 2018 (Amazon and elsewhere), tackling everything related to #1 & #2. We'll come up with #3 in a later book/ memoi marketing book.
Any artist, including tangible artists can release 10,000 NFTs if the artist chooses to do so. For tangible artists, the NFT first becomes an Art Commission Contract for sight unseen, yet-to-be made art. Once the art is made, the NFT becomes proof of ownership that the actual, tangible art is theirs.
Warehousing our tangible art Another related idea is that the tangible art may be warehoused by the artist so that the NFT traders continue to trade. This means that even 10-ton 10-foot tall sculptures can be owned and traded by anyone without worrying about shipping, reshipping, scratches, smudges, parts breaking off, etc. The newness of the pieces remain because they are stored by the artist, source, gallery, etc. The art piece gets shipped to the art collector, the ultimate owner.
An artist who makes ceramic coffee mugs - smaller art pieces, can release 10,000 NFTs with a schedule of increasing prices so that NFT traders can trade immediately. The 10,000 coffee mugs can get damaged, so as they are made, they continue to be stored by the artist, until the time when art collectors decide to have the art pieces shipped to them.
Why only now? I decided to write as many book-length memoirs as I can before I came out to promote this.
I'm an artist and an author. Both need time to "master." I would not even fully use "master" on myself, because there's always something new, even to my own art, my own writing and publishing.
I am now claiming that I'm the visual artist who has produced the most artist memoirs in the world. I have 5 on Amazon. I count Valzubiriagenda as both a marketing book and a memoir-of-sorts, because it has a lot of my own life lessons on writing and publishing. I would not care to contest my claim of having the most memoirs. I will release 5 more over the next 3 years.
BARTER! Get help to write, photograph art and publish your books! Anyone can hire 11 ghostwriters for 11 memoirs. If you can make art, but you cannot write, then barter your forever art with those who can help you produce forever books.
I don't feel the pressure of writing and publishing because I feel my focus should be on art students and art experts who would study my art and my books 100 years from now. Don't expect relatives and friends to read your books.
I call myself the Dollman For my NFTs, I am proposing to make dioramas - my original, costumed, bejeweled porcelain dolls in backdrops that will also have precious metals and gemstones. This way I can incorporate precious metals and gemstones in my work, to make sure that people perceive my art as expensive, just in case I myself don't become "famous" - there's no need to get world famous. We are artists and all we need to do is to satisfy the art niche.
Use your laptop now! I will encourage you to start writing your book-length memoir. Write, Edit and then Self-publish it. Get help. Why wait a hundred years for someone to write about you when all you need is a laptop and a nearby coffee shop.
Don't start counting chickens before the eggs hatch. I have encountered a lot of would-be writers who immediately see themselves as bestselling. world famous assets to society. Two even wanted me to sign NDAs (Nondisclosure agreements), because they did not want me to steal their book ideas.
Here's a suggestion. I would not personally do it. From one manuscript can come 2 books: The Original Draft (unedited, with misspellings, considered to be an art piece, scanned pages(?) of your handwritten original effort), and The Final Edition (edited).
PROVENANCE! Another way to enhance our investability, tradability and collectability is
PROVENANCE - how art ownership proceeds through time. The way this can be done is also through publishing books. Everyone can write their memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs, including traders, investors and art collectors. In effect, we artists can continue to be included or mentioned in even more books, without any additional effort by us.
You as an investor, reseller, trader, art collector should be able to publish a catalog with 250 works by 250 different artists, but they need to agree to this right from the start - it's your money, you should require them to follow your version of the hashtag
#valzubiriagenda parameters, which preferably should include permission for you to publish their art. Why would you track down 250 artists later?
No exclusive contracts If you're a café, you can call for artists, and come up with a book with for example, 30 artists, with a chapter devoted to each artist's profile and images of the artist's art.
You can distribute your catalogs to businesses and individuals near and far and online.
The book
Valzubiriagenda even cites that funeral homes and janitors closets can sell art, with or without exclusivity. Airline catalogs can include million dollar art pieces. Car manufacturers, showrooms and even car repair shops can sell art as well. Everyone should be able to do this, anywhere in the world, especially not just because of the pandemic, but right now, we are in really bad economies.
What's with the name #Valzubiriagenda I was into conspiracy theories in 2018, and this term,
"The Mandela Effect," was popular. I had read many times that an artist coined the term, but I had to research online, for her name, many times, before remembering it. I'm not good at remembering names. It took me a year and a half to finally tell you that
Fiona Broome coined "The Mandela Effect."
I also thought I might have to research trademarks and copyrights just to come up with a generic name. So I decided on
"Valzubiriagenda." I was not really sure at first, but I decided to use it as the title for my book (with co-authoartist
Silverio Perez) so that there would be no turning back and I can move on.
Am I a FUTURIST? Someone I recently met this May 2022 just called me a futurist.
In the 1990s, I proposed to a pension fund that they can raise billions of dollars, especially for emergencies, or as needed, or out of desperation, if the pension fund purchases a quantity of art from an artist who not only has a current, reasonable price, but an announced future price that the artist wants to reach.
That future price would obviously be higher than the current price. The art commission contract for multiple art pieces can be taken to the fund's financial lender for a loan. The higher future price can be used for financing purposes.
The pension fund's treasurer, a publicly elected official, said this idea might work, but we had to keep this a secret and discuss this some more, because other pension funds might copy and do this prematurely. This idea had to come from the two of us. The treasurer needed his votes and I needed credentials.
Added into the pot was my idea that I, as the artist, will also write one book-length artist memoir. This was and still is a strong factor, because the leadership and marketing books I had read then mentioned a strong tip. If you want to advance in your field, write a full-length book that is related to the field.
Unfortunately, the elected official, the treasurer of the pension fund, who was also a friend, passed away - he was old and had ailments. At that point in time, I cannot just approach another pension fund treasurer to share this idea with.
I realized I had to write a few memoirs. I needed to set an example for other artists, so I needed to write more than one memoir. Then I felt I should also make ready another book - the how-to of what I'm up to. I wrote
Valzubiriagenda, which was a memoir of sorts. I knew how long it would take me to write a book, so I had to make sure I can also consider this book a memoir.
In 2008, I imagined that someone like Bernie Madoff, or a fund like Lehman Brothers, would be desperate enough to use this to save themselves and their companies. I was not ready. I had only written 1 manuscript for a memoir.
In 2012, I released
Dollman the Musical, A Memoir of an Artist as a Dollmaker. Once again, I was not ready because writing it depressed me a little, and I knew I had to write more.
In 2014, I released 3 memoirs, and re-released
Dollman the Musical. Besides releasing regular books, I released special editions of the 4 books, which had a
"Special Secret Insert for Bankers," which explains my ideas of an announced schedule of exponentially increasing prices, to satisfy investors, and the publication of artist memoirs, to satisfy art collectors.
In 2014, I also issued out a press release. Google
"Can Billion Dollar Artist Save Investors and World Economy Valentino Zubiri PRWeb August 19 2014" and you will see the press release.
What I did was stake a claim on my ideas. I did not promote my books and the press release. I just wanted them to stay online, like a sleeping giant or a dormant volcano. I even designed 3 of the book covers to look like indie books from the 1980s. I was planting the seeds, thinking they will eventually grow and bear fruit in the future.
In 2015, I was interviewed by
Richard Syrett, about one of my memoirs,
Hocus Pocus Lately. This book is my memoir with paranormal stories. I could have pursued promoting my paranormal stories, but I wanted to be known first as a visual artist and memoirist, so I allowed myself one interview related to
Hocus Pocus Lately. Richard Syrett has(had?) his own syndicated radio show,
The Conspiracy Show with Richard Syrett, about the paranormal. He also guest hosts on
Coast to Coast AM, another internationally syndicated show about the paranormal.
In 2018, I released
Valzubiriagenda (co-authored by artist
Silverio Perez, a fellow artist). Finally, this book is "the how-to of what I'm to."
I'm going to end this with some strangeness. In 1986, a lady at a religious gathering went into a trance and left a good number of messages. Supposedly, anyone who got into a trance would have messages, but once the trance was over, the person would not remember what was said.
I was not part of the group, but the lady turned her head to face me. She "foretold" that whatever I would decide to do in the future, it will take time, but it will be the right thing. This is one of my stories in one of my memoirs,
Hocus Pocus Lately. The Tulipmania of 1634-37 I discovered that there was this incident of rare tulips becoming collectible during the Dutch Golden Age. There were tulips so rare and so well-desired that their prices equaled to that of a house. You can read more about this online (Wikipedia) or watch a few YouTube videos about it.
Here is the most useful idea that I gleaned from the Tulipmania. The tulip bulbs remained safe inside nurseries. The traders were carrying the deeds of ownership to the tulip bulbs.
Then NFTs came to the forefront I started learning PHP, an HTML scripting language, and MySQL, the database that PHP can connect to in the background, in 1999, when there were only 3 books about PHP and MySQL at the bookstores.
By 2014, I was trying to figure out how to make the "ledger," or database that can be used to update ownership and who can be contacted. If we are trading art, then the art ownership should be updated.
Then NFTs came about. This can be used as our ledger. Everyone can immediately trade NFTs of future, yet-to-be made art pieces, especially because it takes time to make tangible art.
NFTs actually went a step ahead, by allowing digital art to be traded.
The only setback with NFTs, in my opinion, is that it still lacks a commission system for resellers and representatives.
For example, if a café wants to represent me, then they can promote me at their café and on their online pages. If I make one piece of art that will be exclusively represented by a gallery, then that commission will be different and more specific. As ownership is transferred, the subsequent owners should be able to reset the commission. We should also have the option of giving commissions to hundreds of representatives at one time with different percentages if need be.
The recent crypto crash Lately, we have observed that NFTs and cryptocurrencies have been behaving like the stock market and other markets. They have been fluctuating.
I believe that it is time for a trend which discourages fluctuation of prices.
I have also seen YouTube videos where social influencers are encouraging us to be on the lookout for exponentially profitable ventures, because we have all seen this happen with the exponential increase of Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Let's see if #Valzubiriagenda trends We can announce present and future art prices. The galleries won't do this (yet?) because they follow a more traditional approach to the business of art.
We have a choice of using incrementally or exponentially increasing prices. We still reserve the right to change things in the future, so everyone should know to follow the latest update.
If this trends, if you as an artist simply announces that you will write an artist memoir, or that you will include the future works in future art books, you might have more art traders, investors and collectors approaching you.
Get your pen, paper and calculator Imagine yourself as an artist, where you are right now. Let's just say you still do not have a book about yourself and your art yet. Imagine now that you have a memoir out there. Don't you think it makes sense to charge more than what you are charging now? Writing and publishing books is just the beginning. I'm just standardizing this approach. The books also say to do other related projects. In my case, getting
Dollman the Musical onstage is one idea. You will have other related projects, but the publication of memoirs, biographies, art books and art catalogs will help all of us.
You can also imagine that a law firm that has meeting rooms, with someone who wants to form a local #valzubiriagenda group, can have meetings. A local café can do the same. Local photographers for your art, writers, editors, book designers, proofreaders and others can join in.
I suggest have printed books to share. 15 copies of your memoir or art books will be better than an e-reader or laptop or your phone to show. These gadgets can be stolen, sabotaged, broken, have coffee spilled on them, etc. 15 printed books means simultaneously showing to 15 people. You can even give them away to potential resellers, investors, traders and collectors.
When it rains, it pours, as in the days of Noah There's a saying, "When it rains, it pours." There is a negative interpretation and a positive interpretation.
Negative: When trouble comes, they cascade to even more.
Positive: When opportunity comes knocking, more follow suit. We can assume that if one gets our art because of #valzubiriagenda, more want to do it now, because of the rising prices, and FOMO - fear of missing out. What will they lose if they miss the boat?
As I have said earlier, if the #valzubiriagenda trends, if you announce a future memoir or art catalog, you might have an increase of investors, traders and art collectors who would want to check you out. You might encourage more sales. Just remember to write and publish that memoir and art catalog.
There's this saying, "As in the days of Noah." Imagine Noah, building his ark, with members of his own family, putting all his time and effort into it. Noah was a nice guy. I'm sure every once in a while a neighbor offered him coffee, or chai latte, or whatever refreshing drink they might have back then.
Here's the lesson to be learned. Just because they offered him some type of bubble tea drink, or coca cola, they still didn't make it to the ark. Rubbing shoulders with actors does not make you an actor. I have told my artist friends to write their memoirs. They told me that once they see me succeed, after all these many years of seeing my seemingly useless efforts, then they will write their memoirs and follow the road that I had paved for them.
Good luck to them, but if I were you, act now, get my art or make art. Support the 5-year old artist whose parent promised to release a comprehensive art catalog. If you get that 5-year old's art, and mine, I would be honored to be in the same art catalog that you will produce. I'm already successful at that point. You have gotten the mission just right.
I have already claimed to have written the most book-length artist memoirs in the world. Dethrone that claim. Barter. Use ghostwriters. Success to me means facing God one day and saying, I wrote my memoirs and left the world a legacy of books and art. I will not tell God, smiling and proudly, that I encouraged a run for my art by announcing a schedule of exponentially increasing prices that reached 9 figures. I'm sure God knows we had fun.

HOW WE GOT HERE:
Brad Holmes is a wizard. What he has done as the Detroit GM in just 3 years has been a playoff push away from being quite remarkable, especially considering the context of succeeding prior general manager Bob Quinn which ended in typical Lions losing fashion. Brad Holmes would immediately come out swinging and first transaction as general manager was trading longtime franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for two first round picks, a third round pick, and quarterback Jared Goff. At the time, it was bittersweet for fans, as Stafford was the practically the lone bright spot in the last decade (outside of Megatron), but the haul they got in return was at least something. Stafford was injured and already likely leaving to chase a Super Bowl and Detroit was going into full rebuild mode so Detroit fans were just happy with what they could get. Brad ended up hiring a one time Head Coach, Dan Campbell. A pick made purely on the potential he would be able to change the culture with his grind it out, Football attitude Campbell was known for. All in all, it was business as usual for Detroit as they begin yet another rebuild....
Oh parity in sports.... You never cease to amaze us....
Somehow and someway, In Holmes' first draft, Penei Sewell falls to Detroit at #7 and the Lions draft room goes bananas on camera! At the time we did not know it, but Detroit just landed their future Pro Bowl leader in the trenches. In round 4, the Lions scoop a literal Sun God in Amon-Ra St. Brown. Little did we all know the impact both of these players would have today. Both players are arguably top 10 in their position.
Fast forward to 2022 and the Lions are coming off one of the most promising 3-13-1 seasons that you could ever ask for. The team and coaches have bought in to Dan Campbell's grind it out style of Football. The culture seemed to finally be changing and it felt like Jared Goff turning into a solid Stafford replacement, despite being considered a throw on by most in the Stafford trade.
The 2022 draft Brad Holmes' statement to the NFL. It does not matter where you take guys. If you know how to evaluate talent, you go for YOUR guys and you can be successful. Holmes was able to draft Aiden Aiden Hutchinson at #2 (some say he should have been #1), Jameson Williams (best receiver in the draft at 12 via trade), Kerby Joseph (who picked off Aaron Rodgers THREE TIMES IN ONE GAME!), and drafted James Houston and Malcolm Rodriguez in the 6th round. Both players are looking like future defensive stars. Dare I say the best 6th round success since the Pats drafted TB12? Don't @ me lol
The Lions followed up the draft with a MUCH improved 2022, landing a 9-8 winning record and going 8-2 in their final 10 games. Jared Goff is looking like the guy who took the Rams to the Superbowl, every position has young talent and this upcoming 2023 draft is looking like it could seriously push the Lions into serious playoff contention if the cards are played correctly.

Round 1: No. 12 (from CLE through HOU and ARI) – Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama
Flashback! Remember that Stafford trade where they got got the Rams draft pick? You know that pick that was supposed to be in the upper 20s because LA is so good and are coming off winning a Super Bowl? Yea, well they sucked.... Somehow they sucked so bad that that pick turned into the number 6th overall pick.
Odds makers had the Lions grabbing Devon Witherspoon as their secondary was a big need. However when Seattle took him at 5, who knew what would follow? Well, the last thing fans expected.... The Lions ended up passing on Tyree Wilson, Jalen Carter, AND Bijan Robinson by trading down to 12 to take Alabama running back, Jahmyr Gibbs. Hindsight is 2020, but reports now show the Lions wanted Jahmyr over Bijan, which means Holmes and co. got THEIR guy.
Immediately fans realized the inevitable. Fan favorite and oft injured running back, DeAndre Swift, was going to be cut or traded. Almost immediately they traded D'Andre Swift and a 7th round pick for the Saints' 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2023 7th round pick.
This pick is exactly why you and I are sitting on the couch and Brad Holmes gets paid the big bucks. "HoW cAn YoU dRaFt a RuNnInG BaCk ThAt hIgH". Well, the dude is a straight up baller. If I asked you who led Alabama in receiving last year you would probably say some 5 star Wide Receiver. It was Gibbs. Gibbs is being compared Alvin Kamara in the way he can run and catch. He was listed as running a 4.36 at the combine. Gibbs transferred to Alabama last season after spending the first two seasons of his career at Georgia Tech. He carried the ball 151 times for the Crimson Tide in 2022, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and scoring seven touchdowns. He also caught 44 passes for 444 yards and three catching scores. With the departure of Swift and the newly acquired bowling ball back in Montgomery, Gibbs is going to be an immediate impact as a "weapon" and less of a conventional running back. The thunder and lightning combo the Lions will have will be fun to watch behind their top 5 O Line.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
Round 1: No. 18 – Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa
"HoW cAn YoU dRaFt a RuNnInG BaCk ThAt hIgH" made sense with the Gibbs pick, but drafting a Linebacker at 18 with other glaring needs like lineman and secondary left Lions fans a bit puzzled by this pick. It hurt a little less when you remember this was their 2nd pick in the first round. Also, many people had Jack Campbell on their board for later in the draft so in terms of liking a guy for who they are, very few people are against this pick. But like I said before, Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell go after guys they have faith in. Until they screw up, fans cant complain too much!
But who is this guy and what makes him so good? Well if you care about RAS or "Relative Athletic Score" Jack is outstanding. He scored a 9.98 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 6 out of 2600 LB from 1987 to 2023. He possesses rare athleticism for being 6-5 and that allows him to be exceptional in coverage. PFF rated him as the highest coverage grade since 2018 Devin White at LSU. He also has great leadership skills as he was Iowa's team captain and won Big10 Defensive Player of the year.
Jack Campbell is going to join a much improving linebacking core that is led by team captain Alex Anzalone and 2nd year stars Malcolm Rodriguez and James Houston. The Lions will likely play him on the outside because off his athleticism but I am certain he will be moved all around the field.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
Round 2: No. 34 (from ARI) – Sam LaPorta, TE, Iowa
This is getting a bit out of hand for the Lions fans that appreciate positional value when you draft. Clearly Holmes has totally thrown conventional wisdom out of the window. However, tight end IS a need. Of all of the positional units Tight End is probably the weakest. In 2022 the Lions trotted Brock Wright, James Mitchell, and Shane Zylstra....WHOOOO?!?! Exactly...they needed help. Outside of when they took him, most pundits are pretty happy about this pick. Not only did the Lions get their second Iowa captain, but Sam might have landed the best tight end in the entire class.
With LaPorta, the Lions get a player that can do a variety of things. He can play in the slot, in-line or even out wide. This is EXTRA important when you remember that Jameson Williams is suspended for 6 games due to gambling. During his career at Iowa, he had 513 snaps in-line and 304 snaps out of the slot (per PFF). It really wouldn’t be surprising if LaPorta walks into Detroit and earns the starting tight end spot. He has the talent to do it and by being the 34th overall pick, there is going to be some high expectations for him.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Round 2: No. 45 (from DET) – Brian Branch, S, Alabama
For the first time all draft it felt like a player fell to Detroit and they werent reaching for their guy (for better or worse). At 45, the Lions were already drafting their 4th player and wasnt even the end of the 2nd round. Scouts said that Branch was one of the safest picks in the draft due to his lack of a jarring weakness. Branch is siad to have extremely high football IQ which led him to play all around the defense for the Crimson Tide. Branch has primarily handled nickel coverage, but has the range and instincts for single-high or split safety looks. He’s quick, fast and strong with the ability to match up with shifty slots, bigger possession receivers and pass-catching tight ends. Branch is also tough and gritty which makes himu a perfec fit for this Lions team. He has a nose for the ball and is capable of making game-changing plays. He had two interceptions and two forced fumbles during his freshman season at Bama.
Branch made headlines on draft day to be the only guy to stay into day 2 in the greenroom as he was projected to go in the first round. I think that shows how much he cares about this opportunity and has his heart in it.
Also, Branch as a great opportunity to learn from newly acquired Safety, Chauncy Gardner-Johnson who is one of the best young safeties in the league.

Round 3: No. 68 (from DEN) – Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
You ever feeling a little uncomfortable and then you let out a massive fart and all of your uneasiness washes away? Yea, well thats the feeling Lions fans got when they landed Hendon Hooker with the 68th pick. QB wasnt a terrible need, but once we got him, a sense of relief was felt across the fanbase. When the Lions ended up getting Goff in the Stafford trade, it was sort of unsaid that Goff was just the bridge before they draft a QB of the future. However Goff has played way better than expectations and less and less fans are calling for a replacment. So, instead of using one of their first round picks on a QB, they waited and got a guy with first round updside! Now, they are in a much more confortable position at QB with a very solid back up.
The Lions used the 68th pick in order to take the former Tennessee quarterback. The pick came just before the Rams and Raiders were scheduled to pick and been teams have been seen as possible landing spots for a quarterback in this year’s draft. Hooker is recovering from a torn ACL, but his doctor recently informed teams that he is expected to be ready to go by the first week of the regular season. With Jared Goff in place as the starter in Detroit, there won’t be any need for Hooker to rush back for what will likely be a redshirt season if all goes according to plan in Detroit.
This pick was safe, exciting, and sets the Lions up with a solid back up QB. The first time that they can say that since they had Shaun Hill.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Round 3: No. 96 (from ARI) – Brodric Martin, DT, Western Kentucky
Before the draft, a need that was discussed as a hole in the Lions defense was interior line. They got their big boy in the middle with nose tackle, Brodric Martin. After starting his career at North Alabama, Martin transferred to Western Kentucky to play his final two seasons at the FBS level. Since 2021, Martin has played in 26 total games, and has managed to contribute 62 total tackles to the Western Kentucky cause. He’s piled up six tackles for-loss as well as four sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. This move with help the Lions run defense that ranked 4th to last in the NFL last year.
It is no surprise that winning is won in the trenches. The Lions have done a great job of drafting players to build out this line with the likes of Alim McNeill, Isaiah Buggs, and John Cominsky, but with big interior guys like Martin, they usually operate best in a rotation. This move should be huge in terms of depth and opening up even more opportunities for Aiden Hutchison to get to the QB.
This move didn't feel flashy, but it felt needed.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Round 5: No. 152 – Colby Sorsdal, OL, William & Mary
The Lions had to finally wait a bit before this pick due to moving around in the draft and trading away their pick round 4. They elected to add depth to their O-Line by taking Colby Sorsdal out of William and Mary. Sometimes its fun being the big fish in the small pond. Sorsdal started in all 46 games he appeared in during his five-year stint at William & Mary. He spent the duration of his college career at Right Tackle. Sorsdal is the first Tribe player to be drafted since 2016, when the Chicago Bears selected safety DeAndre Houston-Carson in the sixth round.
Serving as an offensive co-captain and starting all 13 games at Right Tackle, Sorsdal anchored an offensive line that helped the Tribe rank third in total rushing offense and fourth in fewest sacks allowed. Behind one of the best offensive line units in the country, the Tribe accumulated an 11-2 record and won the CAA Conference Championship for the first time since 2015.
He will be joining a elite O-line led by Penei Sewell, Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker. Colby wont start, but he will add in needed depth for a team that's success will only goes as far as their line will take them.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Round 7: No. 219 (from HOU through MIN via PHI) – Antoine Green, WR, North Carolina
With the Lions last pick in a very intense draft, they selected Wide Receiver, Antoine Green out of UNC. Most projected Antoine to be signed to a team after the draft so it is a but of a peculiar pick. In the late 7th round, you are just hoping to take a flier on a guy and hoping they pan out.
The 6-foot-3, 199-pound receiver impressed Detroit's coaching staff at the East-West Shrine Bowl, and has the opportunity to compete for playing time his rookie season. According to NFL Draft Bible, Green is a "technically sound, fluid athlete that can give you a little bit of everything as a wide receiver. Green runs routes, it is as if he is attacking his defender rather than going about his route without considering what the defense is doing. Green has a good release off the line of scrimmage and does not get held up too much when facing press coverage. He uses his hands well to reduce contact against the press and accelerate off the line. He analyzes coverages well and makes quick decisions on how to break down his defender throughout his route. He can read zone defenses and has a knack for finding spaces to make himself an easier target."
With Jameson Williams missing 6 games to start the year, there is an opportunity for Green to poach snaps away from anyone not named Amon-Ra or Marvin Jones. There is also a chance he doesn't make it out of camp. Unlikely, but we will see.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Conclusion:
The 2023 NFL draft for the Detroit Lions was a resounding success. They were able to draft 6 times....BEFORE THE FOURTH ROUND!! The extra picks allowed Detroit to really control the draft and move around in a way to get the guys they wanted. They did not care about who they got and when. They just simply got the guys they wanted. After reflecting on its entirety, they landed a lot of great talent. They were able to add a player at every single positional unit and several will end up starting and making an immediate impact.
Look, the Lions are going to Lions so hold your breath a little longer, however Brad Holmes and Jack Campbell have really turned this franchise around and are making them a legit playoff contender. Right now the Lions are favored to win the NFC North for the first time since god knows when. I am projecting a record of 12 and 5 and a NFL North Division Win.
GO LIONS!!!! (FTP)

so ive been working @ my starbucks since september of 2022, 8-9ish months i suppose. ive called out three times, once in october for halloween, new years day & i called out today. i work a second job so i straight up told the shift on call im honestly just tired. i didn't go more in depth as im not required NOR entitled to share my reasoning. however, i was written up for calling out my 2nd time even though people at my store lie, and fabricate stories as to why they can't make into work. once a barista called out 4 times in a month and they didn't receive any sort of write ups, another time a barista called out sick and showed up that same day during their schedule hours to make themselves a drink. at my store there is a lot of favoritism and how would i go about it

2023.06.03 21:12 PM_ME_UR_FAXES 2023 ITIN Guide (2022 Tax Forms) for Canadians to Churn US Credit Cards
2022 1040NR / W-7 ITIN Application Guide - Gambling Income Method
The purpose of this post is to provide a simple step-by-step guide for Canadians to apply for and obtain an ITIN so that they can apply for US credit cards and take advantage of US credit card signup bonuses. This guide involves submitting a Form W-7 Application for ITIN and a 1040NR non-resident tax return to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
This is a method that should apply to most Canadians.
Please leave all questions as comments, as I often browse through this thread without logging in and generally do not respond to DMs. Disclaimer
I am not a qualified tax professional, so please use this guide at your own risk. The information provided here is for educational purposes only and should not be used as official tax advice.
Notice about Paid Services
Paid services are available, but they are not necessary as the forms are simple to complete. I do not endorse any specific service. If you choose to use a paid service, ensure that their PTIN and full name are disclosed on any 1040NR form you file.
The preparation of a tax return for compensation, including the 1040NR non-resident tax return discussed below, requires that the preparer be registered with the IRS, and the preparer must include the PTIN and their personal information (including their name) on the second page of the 1040NR under "Paid Preparer Use Only", irrespective of the method of submission. If you pay for a service that prepares for you an 1040NR (including a "draft" of such a return), and fails to disclose their PTIN on the documents you file, that preparer may be subject to IRC 6695 penalties, injunction and/or disciplinary action.
If you are using a paid service always ensure that their PTIN and full name are disclosed on any 1040NR you file. It protects you too, as they can be penalized by the IRS for unauthorized disclosure or use of your personal information.
Big Picture: How it Works
There are very specific reason where the IRS will issue an ITIN. These include to obtain tax treaty benefits, to file a tax return, and more. Throughout the years, administrative efficiency has taken away the need to issue an ITIN for the purposes of obtaining a tax treaty benefit. So if you have been reading about obtaining an ITIN by saying "I need an ITIN to reduce my withholding tax with Amazon/Smashwords", this no longer works, it is not worth your time to try.
Instead, the ITIN can be obtained by filing a tax return declaring some amount of U.S. income, which I will share with you upfront, although paid ITIN services will skirt around informing you of this directly. The fact that you haven't actually earned anything is irrelevant here (unless you don't want an ITIN lol). The self-declared income can be sourced from US-based online casinos, so you don't even need to set foot in the USA to claim US-source gambling income (as noted by Prince of Travel).
Think of it as "I have $85 USD of gambling/interest income sourced from the USA (e.g. gambling: specifically from blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette, or big-6 wheel; interest: interest from a US source), and I'm an upstanding person so I need to report it to the IRS".
This guide will use gambling income, but it only takes minor changes if you want to report interest income instead on your 1040NR instead.
Timeline
The time it takes for you to receive your ITIN letter varies greatly but appears to have settled around 1.5 months in 2023 at the time I updated this post. You may want to read through comments in this thread or the
2022 thread (for 2021 tax forms), to see other people's timelines. Please share your own! I sort the threads by New in order for newer data points to be more visible.
Who it won't work for:
- People eligible for a SSN (are eligible to work in the USA and don't need an ITIN)
- People who already have an ITIN (it will require minor modifications to submit for renewal)
- People who have other sources of US-source income (please get professional tax help)
What you'll need to prepare the forms:
- Download the following forms
- W-7 Form (and the W-7 instructions for reference)
- 1040NR Form
- Supplementary forms and schedules to the 1040NR: !!!!* Schedule 1 !!!!* Schedule OI
- Proof of identity, Canadian passport preferred, see below
- A listing of dates you were physically present in the USA for, for the year you are filing for (currently 2022 tax year) - it's ok if this is zero.
- Number of days in USA for each of the three previous years (2020, 2021, 2022)
- Your Social Insurance Number (Canada)
What you don't need:
- Proof of gambling income - you are self-declaring gambling income, and in practice the amount of income you declare is less than the amount required for a casino to issue you a W-2G (a form that declares your gambling winnings)
- To step foot in the USA during the year you are filing - you are self-declaring gambling income from an online US-based casino

Job done!
Congratulations! You finished completing the forms! The next step is to submit the forms to the IRS, briefly here are the four options:
- Book an appt by phone and show up in person to an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in the USA, must have completed all docs and bring them to appt (no mailing required), you do not need a certified copy of your passport.
- Mail in your forms along with the original copy of your passport (the IRS will return it by mail)
- Mail in your forms along with a Certified True Copy of the passport, obtainable from Service Canada in-person or by mail. You will need to write a short letter to Service Canada telling them you need a certified copy of your passport e.g. "I am requesting a certified copy of my passport as the US Internal Revenue Service requires a certified true copy of a travel document. This document will be used as proof of identity in the application of a Tax Identification number needed to file a US Non-Resident Income Tax Return."
- Apply via a Certified Acceptance Agent ($$$)
Mailing instructions:
Mail signed W-7, signed 1040NR, Schedule 1, Schedule OI and proof of identity (e.g. original passport or certified true copy of passport) to:
Internal Revenue Service
ITIN Operation
P.O. Box 149342
Austin, TX 78714-9342
USA
Suggested method is via registered mail with Canada Post (~$15), for proof of delivery and tracking. If you are using a private courier (e.g. UPS, FedEx, etc.) use the mailing address on Pg 6 of the W-7 instructions.
IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center - In-Person Appointment
You can submit your forms in-person at an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center (TAC),
located across the USA and available by appointment only during normal business hours. Applying at a TAC saves you from having to mail in your original passport or paying for a certified true copy of your passport.
Call 844-545-5640 to schedule an appointment in advance, up to 2 months before, you will need one appointment per person, even if they are your spouse. Some people have reported difficulty calling from a Canadian phone number, and have been able to obtain success using a VoiP to make the appointment. Others have also reported success from calling 267-941-1000 (not a toll-free number) and letting the phone agent transfer you to the proper line. If the lines are busy, you will need to keep trying until you get through - I would recommend calling with a couple different phones until you get through.
You will need to bring your passport, as well as a duplicate copy of your forms so they can stamp them as received. Upon completion, they will inform you that you will receive a letter letting you know of your ITIN application results mailed to your home.
Appointment length differs based on the agent that serves you. There are data points that go from 20 minutes per person up to 1 hour. Some data points indicate that the clerk at the TAC may confuse your application with another reason of registering for an ITIN (e.g. meeting the substantial presence test). Remember that the clerk's role is to make sure your application is complete before submission, and they do not make any determination on your ITIN application. Kindly remind them that the reason you are filing is to file a tax return (the 1040NR) and that you need it submitted to the ITIN group for their consideration.
Payment
As noted previously, you will owe a small amount of tax to the IRS. Comprehensive instructions on how to
pay your US taxes are online.
You can either pay with filing of your 1040NR, or after you receive your ITIN. The easiest way may be to obtain a $USD money order from a Canadian bank (TD, BMO and HSBC are all capable of this), and submitting it with your TAC appointment, or the mailing of your application.
If you have a U.S. bank account (not a $USD account at a Canadian bank) you can also pay by online banking, but only after you obtain an ITIN.
From my own research, if you have a BMO premium chequing account (account fees waived for a minimum balance of $6,000), you're eligible for a BMO $USD chequing account (no fees for withdrawals/deposits), and $USD money orders issued at no fee.
Aren't I Late on filing/paying my taxes for 2022?
If you are concerned about filing your 2022 after the April 18, 2023 filing deadline, it appears from Form 2210 that there is no penalties due if your income is less than $1,000. You will still owe interest on late payment, you can add $2 or $3 to the amount you owe to cover.
I lost my ITIN Letter!
If you lose your ITIN or your ITIN letter, you can get the ITIN by calling the IRS at +1 267-941-1000 and provide your name, mailing address, birthdate. You can then request a generic letter with your ITIN to help you with proof of your ITIN.
ITIN Expiry
Your ITIN will expire. I have not seen any evidence of them reassigning an ITIN to someone else
yet, but the possibility exists.
End note
This post was written for free.
I'd appreciate it if you would spend a moment to share your timeline (application, ITIN letter, return of proof of identity) and any additional tips you think should be noted! Appreciate the thought. :)
Questions? I do follow this thread. Please post in this thread, do not DM me.

2023.06.03 20:26 toddles84 Brain Cancer and The Alcoholic Caretaker
It started during Covid like I’m sure it has for many others, but I think the seeds of my alcoholism and depression were planted well before then. Covid just gave me the opportunity to realize and reflect that my life is headed nowhere except, perhaps, to an early grave.
The story starts about a year into what has been the longest relationship of my life. We met in April 2018 and I fell in her love with her, and I still feel the same, but something’s changed within me that’s not allowing me to find happiness anymore in my life. I could probably write a novel about my experience of being a caretaker to someone with brain cancer, but I’ll try to spare you of all the details as this will already be lengthy.
When we met, we were in our early thirties. Well, she was in her early thirties. I was in my mid-thirties. We were young, at least younger than we are now. We were vibrant and full of energy. She told me early in the relationship that she had what’s called an anaplastic ependymoma, a rare type a brain cancer. It was obviously important to her to let me know that she had this medical condition, as I’m sure it would scare off some romantic partners. Now at the time and on the surface, you wouldn’t have been able to tell she had cancer. But it didn’t scare me away as I simply asked, “Well, you’re not going anywhere, are you?” She said no and that was enough for me to continue with the relationship.
She moved into my house about 5 months into the relationship and about a month later I got a phone call while I was on a business trip telling me that the tumour had grown and that she was going to receive a procedure called a laser ablation. Up until that point in my life when she first told me, cancer was very foreign to me in the sense that I hadn’t experienced living with a loved one that had any form of cancer.
Over the years, we’ve endured so many surgeries. I couldn’t even count the amount she’s had anymore. We went through laser ablations, craniotomies, stereotactic radiosurgeries, compounded with treatment after treatment, chemotherapies, and immunization therapies.
In December 2019, she again had a reoccurrence. The Oncology and Neurosurgeon teams advised that another craniotomy was the best route to go. Unfortunately, after this one, she lost mobility on the left side of her body rendering her hemiplegic because of where the little fucking bastard grows. She spent about a little over a month recovering in an inpatient rehab facility. I would often stay the night to keep her company and sleep on what I would describe as the stiffest and starchiest couch I have ever sat on in my life. When she was released, we returned home and she began outpatient rehab therapy and, we as the supportive couple that we are, really focused in on getting her able to walk again and eating healthy. Of course, by this time Covid brought the whole fucking world to a screaming halt and I had ample time to assist in her recovery.
And wouldn’t you know it! We accomplished our goal. She never has, nor will she ever again have full mobility, but with the assistance of an AFO (Ankle/Foot Orthotic) she was able to walk well enough, but not very fast or very long distances. So we planned a trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and it was spectacular! Even though it wasn’t always easy getting around, we managed and created some of the happiest moments of my life together. I think my favourite was pulling her around Mackinaw Island using a rickshaw. However, right before our trip, she went in for an MRI. Once again, the fucking asshole had to rear its ugly little head back into our lives, not that it ever left, but it would have been nice to have kept it from growing again so fast. So we set an appointment for yet another craniotomy to be performed in June 2020.
And I think that this was the time when things started to get really, really bad for me. I just remember coming home after the surgery while she recovered in the ICU with a 12 pack of Two Hearted Ale and just started crying and I couldn’t stop. For hours and hours on end, I just cried. Anyway, there were setbacks, but not quite on the same level as the December 2019 surgery. She returned home and continued with outpatient rehab and, some short time after, we learned about a clinical trial being performed at the NIH in Bethesda, MD.
Here we go! Hopefully, this is our golden ticket, and we can be rid of this thing once and for all. Due to Covid, I had the time on my hands to accompany her back and forth to the NIH, however, for her to receive the treatment, we would have to travel 3 weeks a month, every month until the completion of the trial.
I remember my eyes welling up from the commitment we had to make and thinking, ‘this is my life now.’ And that may sound selfish to you. And you might be right, but I knew in that moment, I had lost control of my own life knowing that I would have to sacrifice my wants, needs, and desires for someone else who just simply wants to live. The experience was mentally, emotionally, and financially draining, but it was worth it in the end to keep that hope alive. My girlfriend became friends with another girl there. She really makes friends everywhere she goes. Her new friend had Acute Myeloid Leukemia and, unfortunately, she passed away and I know that was especially hard. So from July 2020 to December 2020, we travelled back and forth to Maryland until the clinical trial was deemed a failure. All the while, I’m drinking more and more, and my mood and behaviour is becoming increasingly more erratic.
From 2021 through 2022, not much had changed. That is to say - it was more of the same. Doctors; surgeons; beer cans are piling up. She did get three elective surgeries. Two for a club foot release and a tendon release on her wrist, which are residual side effects from the number of surgeries she has had on her brain. In October 2022, another laser ablation.
Now we’re in January 2023. The surgical scar from the ablation did not heal properly. The skin on the top of her scalp had been stretched so thin that you could see the titanium screws implanted in her head. The Neurosurgeon team told us that when hardware is visibly exposed as in this case, they must treat it as if there were an infection. The plan of action is to, once again, perform surgery in the form of a skin graft removing all the hardware, cleaning up the infection, and replacing it with unaffected hardware. It was close to a 12 hour surgery and all I could think about was escaping to get a beer.
We currently learned that there’s been regrowth once again. Due to the elective surgeries and the skin graft procedure, she’s been off any form of treatment for some time now, so it really didn’t come as a surprise to us. However, instead of surgery, the Oncologist recommends she returns to treatment by means of chemotherapy and a drug called Avastin, which is an anti-angiogenic that targets the source of tumour and in theory cuts off the blood supply feeding the little fucker. However, my girlfriend feels she wants to continue with another surgery on her foot because of the discomfort, which would prevent her from going on treatment and would result in another craniotomy. And over the past week, this sent me over the edge.
I understand that this is her choice. However, the route she’s decided to take has caused me so much stress and anxiety. I mean just scheduling an MRI causes me to have PTSD. I told her that I cannot handle another surgery. We went through 5 surgeries in 8 months including the skin graft operation.
And this is the part that sucks. I think we’re finished. There’s too many stressors in my life that’s causing me to repeat a vicious cycle. I’m tired of pretending to be strong while crying in shadows. Do I get help from anyone? Not as much as her immediate family should. The father lives out of state and the mother thinks she’s a martyr for buying her a $7 gyro. As much as I love her and will always love her, I can’t do it anymore. I’ve sacrificed my happiness for her health and it’s honestly going to kill me. She told me I should go to therapy. I didn’t listen. I should have gone to therapy because now all I feel is regret, disgust, and resentment.

2023.06.03 20:13 dadthewisest So I didn't get promoted but I should have known better...
So I applied for a QA management job at my current place of employment and I didn't get the job. I do triage nurse work. My brother passed away this week and so I took a couple days off work only to find that the person who did get the job was a new grad who was hired a month after her graduation and has worked there for a single year. They made the announcement while I was out.
Now... I was outside getting the pool set up and I cannot stop thinking about this. It was so weird and then I started putting it together.
Our QA person moved at the beginning of the year last year. The person who got the job became a Nurse in January 2022 and started training in March of 2022. They were hired right as the other manager quit. I asked about the job at the time and was told no, they didn't need anyone. So my boss started doing the job. Now... fast forward to March of this year and she puts the job up on the first. I get a message a month and half later asking me to go for an interview. Now the moment that happens they give this new girl 2+ weeks of pto, right after the interview. Weird...
So I do the interview with my current boss, I send a thank you note and her response is "A lot of factors to consider" weird response. Then nearly 3 weeks after the interview I get a rejection and I tell someone "I bet they gave it to the new girl, since it is salary and you can take time off whenever you want essentially they just let her use up all her PTO." During the interview there was a strange moment when I was told the position would be a .8 (8 days every 2 weeks) which is exactly the same schedule that the new girl had.
So, it dawns on me... this person was hired into this position when she originally got hired, which is why they held on to it for a year until she had experience.
I was never going to get the job, but now I don't know how to proceed. Do I talk to HR? If I do I feel like I get targeted and fired.

Terrifier 2 (now on Screambox) is very very gross. It’s also more popular than most cheapo-shoestring blood-drenched viscera fests – surprisingly so, having grossed (pun intended) nearly $8 million at the box office thanks to you-gotta-see-this word-of-mouth and (probably exaggerated, possibly phony) “reports” (read: social media posts by randos) of people puking and passing out in theaters.

2023.06.03 20:01 Pristine_Art4160 Warm bedroom, office 1, dining room - Phoenix AZ
Hi all. We bought this house in 2022. Had windows replaced in February 2023. Lordy, did they need to go! We have black out curtains on every single window/door with glass.
Our bedroom, my office and dining room face E/W. They get warmer than other rooms. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom, dining room, but not in my office.
Last summer before new windows, the bedroom was so hot, we had to use a portable air conditioner to just be in the bedroom. Our ac ran constantly. You can imagine our APS (electric) bills.
After windows, the 3 rooms cooled down considerably. Although the bedroom is still a concern. We still need the ceiling fan to run on highest, and 2 floor fans to run on medium or high basically 24/7.
I'm about to schedule an energy audit that is subsidized by APS. Duct cleaning earlier in the year did not yield any change.
This brick house was built in 71 soooooo we are thinking it's insulation...or something wrong with ductwork. Our AC company has been out and been over our 5 year old rooftop ac unit 3x and 2 of 3 times found out in properly working order and sized right. The 1st visit was a few minor repairs costing around $1400. No pool. No sprinkler system.
We don't open windows/curtains during the cooler months of the year. We keep our lights off as much as possible. We have leased solar panels that came with the house. Between those, the new windows, our dark home cave habits, black out curtains, etc... we are seeing significant savings on our APS bill. Even with the solar panel monthly lease payment. So far, we are seeing $17-$21/month APS bills in these warmer months.
We do not want to use the portable ac again this year. That's one of the goals.
Any suggestions, experiences, comments, guidance, questions?
I'll be checking in regularly to reply and/or read.

I would recommend you all to include your medical form with your initial file as it saved me a couple months for sure. Now onto the next step, informing school DSO of status change, as well get my SSN unrestricted. 2023.06.03 17:59 That1originalname I keep being moved around
This is just a rant, but I don't mind advice. So I work in childcare after school, at the schools. We have around 15 locations in the school district. I have been working for the company for 2 years starting in august. I have not once gone one whole month without being moved around this whole time. I started september 2021, and I didn't have a permanent site until january 2022, but that wasn't even official. I didn't have an official permanent site until this school year. And even then, they would move me around at least once a week or two weeks. Then they moved my permanent site to be another school at the end of february. I definitely prefer the site I am at now I'm really attached to the kids. They are dealing with a staffing shortage right now and sent me all over the place this last week, which they had already been doing, but they kept it to only two days a week. Now this week they have sent me to sub all this week except friday (I only get fridays at my official site because two usual staff members dont work that day every week so im needed there). Biggest problem is, I asked to have two of the days specifically at my home site because one is my birthday and I want to be with kids I know, two is an event is coming to us for the kids, and I wanted to be there for it. I also asked to be there all next week because it's the last week of the school year, but we'll have to wait to see how that goes because we get the schedule week by week.
So with all that said, it is not MY job to make up for their poor management and scheduling problems. (A lot of us dont like the management, so i am willing to bet at least a couple of the recent quitters did so due to bad management). So I, and the kids at my usual site have to suffer because they refuse to close down sites until its forced on them. (They had to close down two on wednesday, and at least one on friday.) I simply want to stay at my site. I'm one of only a few teachers that gets moved so much. Usually it's assistants. The only reason I haven't quit is because I like my kids so much. Our summer program is separate and they will only have three sites open for it. They had to cancel one because my summer site lost two staff, so they moved people from there to ours. We've already started planning for summer, so I'm gonna stick it out through summer, but if they don't manage to keep me at one site next school year, I'm gonna quit. I will just really miss the kids at my site.
(Also, apparently they want to open at least two more sites next year, when they can barely keep open the ones they have.)

2023.06.03 17:35 creditquant Checkin on my wellness journey (50yo male)
(I cross-posted this on another forum also. I am new to reddit - so if that breaks some forum/reddit policy about cross-posting, please let me know and what I can do (delete) about it. Thanks in advance!)
Just a "check-in" - general sharing with others of similar mindset to generate discussion, learn, share, and perhaps get some thoughts on my current focus (finding PCP, finding pvt lab for blood tests).
I am: 50yo male, south asian descent, 162lbs, 5'7", body fat 23% Four horsemen status >> current focus: Decide if start statin
- genetic history of diabetes (mom diagnosed at 42, on insulin since 60yo), hypertension. I am pre-diabetic (a1c 5.8); on Metformin 1000mg/day, Lisinopril 5mg/day (hypertension)
- genetic history of heart disease (dad quad bypass at 42, passed at 62)
- LDL-C (NIH) = 125 (prev reading high 170 after i started low carb, now back to my long-term)
- HDL = 35
- Trig = 160
- Lp(a) = 44
- Recent CAC = 0
- Next step: ApoB, then talk to cardiologist about statin
- No genetic history of cancer, colonoscopy scheduled later this year
- No genetic history of neurodegenerative
Five lever (ENZED) status >> current focus: E(xercise).
- Exercise: Averaging 2 strength training / week, 1 zone 2; aiming to go up to 3 strength, and 2 aerobic (mix of zone 2,5) over next few months. This is my current primary focus on the levers.
- Nutrition: Got a CGM July 2022 and used it to go low carb and train myself to eat better. Lost 15lbs, my Trig fell from 300 to 160. Continuing low-carb. No fasting regimen currently. Take a multivitamin and Omega-3 daily.
- Z (sleep): Average about 7 hours, withings scanwatch consistently reports poor depth of sleep. Wear a prescription mouthguard for sleep apnea. Next step - try CPAP (have it already just haven't been using it). Use 1/2 Advil PM, and 1 Magtein (Magnesium L-threonate) daily.
- Emotions: In a good place. At some point will focus on this to get my meditation practice restarted.
- Drugs: Noted in right places above already. Not really focused on this currently except need to decide re statin as noted above.
Other focus:
- Find a PCP - a continuing journey. Am with One Medical. I tried Wild Health but didn't continue. Currently considering Parsley Health and Five Journeys (a Boston holistic health group of PCPs).
- Figure out how can self-order and do blood tests - want to track my bio markers at higher frequency.

2023.06.03 17:30 AutoModerator Concrit Commune - June 03
Welcome to the Concrit Commune, where you can get bits of your fic looked at... for a small "price."
For the purposes of this thread, concrit is defined as - pointing out things that could use improvement
and also giving suggestions on how to do so. Compliments are always welcome, of course.
The rules:
- State your Fandom Title Rating Any Applicable Content Warnings Link - AO3, FFN, etc. at the top of the comment.
- Post a few paragraphs (copy and paste to a comment, please) of your fic, or your plot premise, or your character bio, or your world building, whatever you need help with.
- There is a soft limit of 500 words. Not your whole fic.
- Please post an outside link to underage and extreme-explicit violence/rape content. Try Just Paste Me which includes rich text options.
- If you, the author, are looking for something specific - the phrasing of a particular part or if a character's reaction is believable - please ask!
- If you just want to hand out advice without throwing your own fic in, you're quite welcome to.
- If you post part of your fic you must give concrit to someone else in the thread!
Since we're all here to give and receive help from other people, a certain level of respect for the author and the work they've put into their fic is expected as a baseline courtesy and should be reciprocated.
Tearing into a fic or author without regard for their effort isn't constructive even if there is decent criticism attached. Moreover, it discourages people from participating if they know that insults await them.
You aren't expected to treat this thread like the Comment Cooperative, advice and honesty and pointing out flaws is what we're here for.
Some helpful tips to keep things running smoothly:
- Keep your comments helpful to the author, not just smashing out your opinion.
- Be polite and civil.
- Be kind. At a minimum, showing your peers professional courtesy is expected.
- Phrases like "I think" or "I believe" can lighten your tone.
- Elaborating on why you think something could be changed is not only more useful to the author but keeps statements from being abrupt.
Timezone Changes From the first posts of 2022, we ran a long trial where we shifted the timezone of the Comment Cooperative and Concrit Commune threads approximately every month. The trial was proposed due to feedback that some people consistently miss the influx of comments due to the timing of the thread, and a changing time would give everyone an opportunity to be in the first period of the thread and also might help with picking up some new subreddit members who want to participate.
At the end of the trial, we sought feedback on the changing times, which times were preferred and at which people were able to participate more. While found that most people wanted the timezone changes to continue and also received feedback on what didn’t work as well. Most of this was regarding inconsistencies in the number of weeks and the communication of when changes would occur.
The last time we changed the times, it caused a lot of confusion. To avoid that happening again, we have updated the post to include the schedule of these changes and automated the scheduled changes. As you can see, the post time will shift by 6 hours every month. For at least the first 4 months, the new time will be stickied for the first week and if that works well, we should be able to continue that.
If there are any inconsistencies in the times, please let us know in modmail so we can fix it up!

2023.06.03 17:20 mlvezie Scheduling platelets
I try to do the max donations allowed, which in the US (Red Cross) is 6 whole blood or 3 double (or power) red per year. Since 6 whole blood donations take 48 weeks, that leaves 4 weeks when I'm otherwise eligible but can't because of the annual limit. This year, with being ineligible and having to reschedule, I only had 16 days instead of 4 weeks.
So fine. I set up a platelets donation for the first day possible, which was last Thursday. Appointment was in the books for quite some time, no problems.
But when I got there they found me ineligible because I forgot to stop taking low dose aspirin for 48 hours before the donation (I had taken it that morning). Normally with double red, the aspirin isn't a problem. Apparently it is for platelets. Oops.
No(?) problem. I still have two days, I think. I reschedule the platelets for Saturday (today). I'm scheduled for whole blood in 2 weeks (June 17). But last night I got notification that it was cancelled. Called Red Cross (this was after the local center had closed) and was told that I wouldn't be eligible until Sunday, because of an annual fluid limit (the same limit that limits me to 6 whole blood donations per year). He also said I wouldn't have been eligible on Saturday if I took aspirin on Thursday because I would have to be off it for two complete days. This despite the fact that the RapidPass asks "In the last 48 hours" have I taken aspirin, not "In the last two days" (at least I think so; I could be wrong).
So... questions.
1, how does the fluid limit actually work? How is it worded? And why would I be eligible on Sunday, and not June 17 (I gave whole blood June 17, 2022). When, during the gap, can I give platelets?
2, aspirin. Is it 48 hours or 2 days? If my memory is correct and it's 48 hours, why was I told 2 days?
TL;DR: how does an annual limit work with platelet donations, and how soon after taking aspirin can I donate platelets?

2023.06.03 17:08 vborderlines I need some serious advice
TRIGGER WARNING: Some mentions of self harm, sexual assault and BDSM
So basically I was sexually assaulted on March 2022, I'm okay now just dealing with PTSD. I'm in therapy, taking meds and going to a women center, so working on it.
Question is, I'm in a relatively kind of new relationship (9 months). It's a love relationship but also a BDSM one with a contract and everything. He is lovely and all and the sex is never triggering, it's actually the best sex I have ever had, he asks permission for everything so that's great.
The thing I'm worried about is not actually the sex but his behavior. I discussed prior writing this with my therapy that he may have some autistic traits or some kind of neurosis. He's into lists and scheduling EVERYTHING and I'm often the one left feeling like s*hit because I "disappoint him". Apparently I make him feel guilty or not trustworthy. It's always an expectation kind of thing. And I only allow myself to cry into the bathroom in silence. Sometimes I feel like scratching my skin as a punishment (ex self harmer).
As I have dealt with very toxic relationship I know he's not one of them, not the classic narcissist you may expect. But somehow deep inside of me after almost a year of relationship I know that something is wrong, I noticed little changes. So now I'm wearing a collar (because of the BDSM thing) and it's fine, I swear but somehow, something just doesn't feel right.
I wondered if any of you had some similar experiences or may help me guide my way through this to understand if I'm the issue or not.
Thank you

2023.06.03 17:07 myyummypixels AITA for not telling him where is walket is?
Common law married. We have 2 kids 5 & 6. I have 3 other older children.
Just recently moved within visiting distance of my kids (6 hours one way). Hard to make the drive working schedules, the toddlers, we have pets. His family visits him monthly they have no responsibility, family, kids and so on. He spends that 100% time only with them. Not our kids their grandkids/niece nephew. They sit out and drink and smoke (we are not a smoking home) their whole 4 day visits.
I was able to make the 6 hour trip to see my kids! ❤️ he insisted on coming which is ok. We had to bring the toddlers and dogs (guard dogs aggressive dogs) we stay in hotels. So no leaving my room with out the dogs. No going to the pool with the kids .. they (the front desk) gave us strict rules I understand.
Day one his family took him (only) and our vehicle and was gone the whole day. I was not able to get my other children or see them. (They are in college no vehicle). Day 2 he got drunk wit his mom and brother and forgot about time at their house fenced in yard. But could not take the dog, not going to be there long. Which turned into him being gone 9:30am to 5pm. 2 of my older kids had made plans for that night.
Today is day 3, I got up and the toddlers ready to go get my other kids and they want to see their siblings too. I figure we get up and just leave. I get out of the shower in the hotel and he is gone!!!! His brother called they are out on a quick hike, 1.5 hours away, he can’t find his wallet can I look for it. He needs his ID so he can make the event they have planned tomorrow. (I had no clue about and our last day and I will see my kids only at lunch hopefully) For the first and last time in my trip to spend 4 days with them. Tomorrow is my daughters BIRTHDAY I do not care how old she is she is my daughter. I have not seen since August 2022. My last trip up here. I found his wallet, I hid it. I hid it very well, he will not find it. He will not be able to go to the event and leave me stuck again here, my last chance to see my other kids. (It’s nothing event - he goes to these shows all the time). Am I the asshole for hiding his wallet, I have tried taking to him about my feelings but that is just a fight and my toddlers mimick him calling me a asshole or telling me to shut up, so my fight is gone. I am working on my kids to understand it’s wrong to say these things. As I sit here I wonder am I a asshole like him now that I have lowered myself to his level? Should I just give him the wallet and pray some how else I see my kids before we leave. Am I just a Baby? It’s life right I should grow up and move on.
