Non saranno sfogliabili, ma sempre acquisti sono. E dato che ho questa brutta malattia di aver piacere nel possedere l'oggetto fisico continuo a comprare dvd e Blu-ray anche in questa fase di reperibilità massima grazie alle piattaforme streaming. I film, insieme alla musica, sono l'ambito in cui spazio maggiormente come gusti e infatti credo sia abbastanza visibile dai titoli presi. Si passa da "Ragazze a Beverly Hills", una commedia adolescenziale di pregiata fattura e con una Alicia Silverstone assai meritevole, a "Gli Argonauti", l'opera per me migliore di Ray Harryhausen; da "Whip It", ragazze che correndo sui pattini si menano per farla molto breve, a "City of life and death", un film in mandarino sottotitolato in inglese sulle violenze dei giapponesi a Nanchino; da "Arca Russa, un continuo piano sequenza all'interno dell'Hermitage, a "Howard e il destino del mondo", un film che all'epoca venne bollato come il più brutto film mai prodotto per poi essere rivalutato nei giorni nostri con tanto di cameo in Endgame; e per non farci mancare nulla anche un pò di animazione; Liz e l'uccellino azzurro è un film, di ottima qualità, "spinoff" di una serie tv (Sound! Euphonium) che riesce a vivere di vita propria senza problemi.

In una domenica di passeggio, in pieno relax causa sole e temperature miti, mi sono fatto cogliere con le difese abbassate e ho preso questi due volumi giganti. Il primo, come si evince dal titolo, raccoglie una serie di fotografie di posti reali che sembrano usciti pari pari da un film di Wes Anderson in quanto a simmetria. Il secondo, invece, fa parte di una nuova serie di "guide turistiche" dell'Ippocampo. Al momento, mi pare, sono uscite questa sull'Islanda, una sulla Norvegia e una su Berlino. Sfogliandole le foto dell'Islanda mi hanno colpito maggiormente di quelle norvegesi, ma prossimamente dovrò acquistare assolutamente anche la Norvegia dato che entrambi i posti mi sono rimasti nel cuore in quanto a fascino e bellezza. In ultimo ecco un piccolo extra che rientra negli acquisti del mese, ma che Amazon ha deciso di farmi arrivare si spera prima di Pasqua.

Quest'anno sono riuscito a procurarmi un accesso alla Bologna Children's Bookfair e mi sono preso questi due libri illustrati. Il primo, Vendesi casa d'artista, nella sua semplicità è geniale: partendo da un quadro famoso l'autrice disegna un'ipotetica casa. Dai maestri italiani rinascimentali tipo il Brunelleschi a Van Gogh, da Magritte ad Hokusai. E le illustrazioni tendono a ricordare l'opera di partenza ma con un tocco molto personale. Il secondo, invece, è la trasposizione della canzone di Battiato con disegni molto morbidi ed evocativi. Adoro Battiato e mi hanno conquistato le illustrazioni per cui non ho resistito.

Unica vera grande delusione del mese. “Il mondo senza fine” mi aveva colpito mentre guardavo le novità sotto casa. Parla di cambiamento climatico attraverso i disegni di Blain, che ho adorato nel suo "I segreti del Quai d'Orsay", per cui l'ho acquistato senza neanche pensarci. Ma la lettura si è rivelata molto scialba. Il tema, di un'importanza assoluta in questo periodo storico almeno per me, è trattato in modo parecchio banale e "didascalico", e in alcuni tratti pure con tesi a mio avviso errate o comunque troppo "estremiste". E anche i disegni li ho percepiti come molto "tirati via", anche se è solo grazie a loro se sono riuscito a finirlo. Un'occasione sprecata.

Per fortuna l'acquisto successivo ha riequilibrato il karma. Avevo letto il primo capitolo in inglese tempo fa e mi aveva colpito, ma non avevo la voglia di stare lì a tradurre il tutto. Per fortuna Coconino l'ha pubblicato nella sua interezza e mi ha permesso di godere di questa opera veramente "top". La costruzione delle tavole e l'utilizzo del colore supportano una trama divertente e "fuori di testa". Dopo averlo finito ho scoperto che ne hanno pure tratto un film e ora aspetto che qualcuno lo porti nelle sale qui da noi, anche se non ho molta fiducia. Questo è stato il regalo dopo una giornata pessima al lavoro. Lessi il volume che raccoglieva le prime tre saghe a 8 anni e mi colpì potentemente; credo che sia da qui che sia nata la mai passione per il fantasy. Il volume è bellissimo e le tavole grandi sono spettacolari, bello anche il reparto redazionale. Spero che non si limitino solo alla prima saga, ma che le pubblichino tutte in questo formato.

Passando ai manga questo mese solo un numero uno nuovo, tutto il resto sono prosecuzioni di serie in corso. Molte sono riedizioni di fumetti già letti pertanto nulla da dire; dei nuovi quasi tutti gradevoli, giusto "Finché morte non ci separi" non mi ha ancora convinto al 100% e "Komi can't communicate" spero non lo tirino troppo per le lunghe perché non vorrei che andasse in vacca dato che ha superato il numero di volumi, per me, ideali per una romcom, anche se ancora regge abbastanza. Postilla: sicuramente denigrerai Evangelion, che io addirittura ritengo più piacevole in versione manga che non anime, ma non ti biasimo, si sa che la perfezione non esiste e anche tu puoi peccare!

Il numero primaverile si è rivelato il migliore. Forse giusto una storia e mezza non mi ha entusiasmato, ma le altre tutte di livello altissimo. Quella sugli allevamenti intensivi molto interessante anche perché èil mio senso di colpa più grande. Quella sull'autismo molto vera e molto triste purtroppo, quella su Sigonella con parecchie informazioni che non sapevo, ma la preferita di questo numero è quella sull'aborto. Un vero pugno nello stomaco che mette a dura prova il mio innato ottimismo.

In ultimo, anche se non è propriamente un acquisto, ho recuperato i numeri di Corto Maltese da casa dei miei nonni. Spinto dal tuo "letture della settimana" di inizio mese sono andato a cercare i numeri della rivista che comprava il mi nonno e che leggevo da ragazzino in quella fase in cui Topolino non mi bastava più e ancora non ero arrivato ad andare in fumetteria per fatti miei e quindi leggevo i fumetti che erano presenti in casa; oltre a questi anche i Peanuts, gli Sturmentruppen, Lupo Alberto e Cattivik erano le letture tra gli 8 e i 14 anni. Sono le annate dal 1983 al 1992 (la rivista chiuse nel 1993) e alcune non sono complete, ma secondo me se cerco più a fondo qualche altro numero lo trovo. Comunque aggiungo anche qualche foto di copertine che mi affascinavano allora e continuano ad affascinarmi anche adesso (Elektra su tutti, ma anche Pazienza è potentissimo) e qualche foto dell'interno della rivista che riguardandola oggi era parecchio ben fatta.

Tltr: I am looking for a device that would be better at 3D mapping internal spaces than my Galaxy S21 Ultra that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg.
Hi so I am wanting to 3D map the inside of mines and caves, I'm not looking for the best quality ever but i really need something with better processing power. The pictures in my post include a screenshot from outside the mine, then a screenshot above the mine showing the area i scanned then the third image is inside the mine. I am wanting to eventually stitch these to 3d models of the hills and valleys made using photogrammetry with my DJI Air 2S. So that in the end i have like a complete 3d model of the outside and inside the hills. I am starting off with a hill and mines i am familiar with.
For the model in my pictures i used the "3D Live Scanner" app on my Galaxy S21 Ultra. I also tried an app called PIX4Dcatch which was kinda cool but results weren't as good. Ofcourse the S21 Ultra doesn't have a Lidar or ToF sensor unlike the S20 ultra with a ToF or the bigger Iphones with Lidar sensors. Whether the S21 Ultras AI software alternative using just the camera is as good I don't know. Because I haven't used a Lidar or ToF device to compare.
This model took me like 10 minutes to scan hence the patchiness. I also only got about 10 metres inside. I am happy enough with the detail on the parts that scanned. But i had a few issues, mainly with my device and the app becoming suuuper slow as i guess it was quite cpu and ram intensive. It took a while for the model to render after i finished scanning which isn't an issue.
I would preferably like something that could process quicker and would allow me to scan the whole mine tunnel system in one go.
I am in need of a new laptop so if there are any computer softwares that could work that'd be good, or if there is a camera or tof/lidar scanner you can get for pc where the pc will do the processing that'd be even better, id spend about £500 on a device (not including the laptop).
If there is some sort of handheld device that would be good I'd maybe spend £500 but not much more than that because this isn't for anything commercial so can't really afford that.
Likewise if something like an iPhone would be considerably better then I would get that as my next phone, but if that is going to struggle processing it as much then i probably wouldn't bother.
Also, i used a 25,000 lumen torch hence why the model is well lit lol.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
