2023.06.07 21:12 JoshAsdvgi THE POWERFUL BOY

THE POWERFUL BOY

THE POWERFUL BOY
[SENECA]

The Seneca, one of the Iroquois nations of the Northeast, have their own version of the all-conquering little one.

A man and his wife lived with their five-year-old son in an ugly-looking lodge in the woods.
One day the woman died giving birth to another boy, who was bright and lively but no longer than a person's hand.
Thinking that the infant would not live, the father wrapped it carefully and placed it in a hollow tree outside the lodge.
After that he burned the body of the mother.
Then as he had done before, the man went hunting every day.
The five-year-old played around the lodge by himself, feeling lonely.
After a time he heard crying from the hollow tree, for the baby too was lonely,
and hungry as well.
When he discovered his little brother, the boy made him some soup from deer intestines, which the baby drank with relish.
Much stronger, the newborn crawled out of the tree, and the two played together.
The older brother made a little coat out of fawn skin; when he put it on, the baby looked like a chipmunk scampering around.
When he came home, the father noticed that the deer intestines were gone and asked the boy what he had done with them.
"Oh," said the child, "I was hungry."
Seeing a small track of very short steps around the fire, the father said, "Here are a boy's tracks.
Who is it?" So his son confessed that he had found his little brother in a hollow tree, and that he had given him soup and made him a fawn-skin coat.
"Go and bring him," said the father.
"He's shy; he won't come for anything," the boy said.
'Well, we'll catch him.
Ask him to hunt mice with you in the old stump behind the hollow tree, and I'll get him."
Gathering a great many mice, the man hid them in his clothes.
Then he walked beyond the tree and crouched down so that he looked like an old stump.
The boy went to the tree and called, "Come on, let's catch some mice."
The baby climbed out, and they rushed around the stump catching mice.
Wild with excitement, the tiny thing laughed and shouted; he had never had so much fun.
Suddenly the stump turned into a man, who caught the little one ,in his arms and ran to the lodge.
The infant screamed and struggled, but it was no use; he couldn't get away, and he would not be pacified until his father put a small club into his hand and said.
"Now hit that tree."
The baby struck a great hickory.
The tree fell.
Then he laid about him
with the club, and everything he hit at was either crushed or killed.
He was delighted and stopped crying.
Now the baby stayed with his older brother while their father went hunting.
"You must not go to the north while I'm away," the father told them.
"Bad, dangerous people live there."
But when the father had left, the tiny one said to his brother, "Oh, let's go north; I want to see what's there."
The boys started off and walked until they came to wooded, marshy ground.
Then they heard what sounded like many people calling, "My father! My fatherl" Actually they were frogs singing the frog song,
"Nohqwa! Nohqwa!"
"Oh, these people want to hurt my father!" the little boy cried.
He fixed himself a pile of red-hot stones and, hurling them at the frogs, killed everyone.
When the boys came home, their father was very angry.
"You must not go again," he said. "
And you must not go west; it's dangerous there too."
But the next day when their father had left, the little boy said, "I want to see what's in the west; let's go there."
So they traveled westward until they came to a tall pine tree, with a bed made of skins at the very top.
"That's a strange place for a bed," the little boy said to his brother.
"I'll climb up and look at it."
Up he went. In the bed at the top he found two naked, frightened children, a boy and a girl. He pinched the naked boy, who called out, "Father, Father! Some strange child has come and scared me nearly to death!"
Suddenly the voice of Thunder was heard in the far west.
It rumbled toward them faster and faster until it reached the bed in the treetop.
Raising his club, the little boy, the powerful one, struck Thunder and crushed his head, so that he fell dead to the ground.
Then the boy pinched the naked girl, which made her call, "Mother!
Mother! Some strange boy is tormenting me!" Instantly the voice of Mother Thunder sounded in the west and grew louder until she stood by the tree.
The powerful boy struck her on the head as he had done with her husband, and she fell dead.
The powerful one thought, "This Thunder boy would make a fine tobacco pouch for my father.
I'll take him home." He struck the boy with his club and then threw both children to the ground.
The two brothers went home, and the tiny one said, "Oh, Father! I have brought you a splended pouch!"
"What have you done?" the father said when he saw the dead Thunder baby.
"These ~thunders have never harmed us.
They bring rain and do us good, but now they will destroy us to revenge their children."
"Oh, they won't hurt us-I've killed the whole family," the powerful boy replied.
So the father took the skin for a tobacco pouch, but he said, "You must never go north to the country where Stone Coat lives."
The next day the older brother would not disobey his father, so the powerful boy headed north by himself.
About noon he heard the loud barking of Stone Coat's dog, which was as tall as a deer. Thinking that the master must be close by, the little boy jumped into the heart of a chestnut tree to hide.
The dog kept barking, and Stone Coat came up to look around.
"There's nothing here," he said, but the dog barked and· stared at the tree.
Finally Stone Coat struck the tree with his club and split it open.
"WVhat a strange little fellow you are," Stone Coat said, looking at the boy as he came out. "You're not big enough to fill a hole in my tooth."
"Oh, I didn't come to fill holes in your teeth. I came to go home with YOll and see how you live," said the boy.
"All right, come on," Stone Coat said, and began walking with enormous steps.
In his belt he carried two great bears, which seemed as small as squirrels.
Once in a while he would look far down and say to the boy running by his side, "You're a funny little creature!"
His lodge was huge and very long; the boy had never seen anything like it.
Stone C.oat skinned the two bears, put one before his visitor, and otok the other for himself.
"You eat this bear," he said, "or I'll eat you and him together."
"If you don't eat yours before I eat mine, may I kill you?" asked the boy.
"Oh, yes," said Stone Coat.
The little boy cut off pieces of meat, cleaned them as fast as he could, and put them into his mouth.
Then he ran out of the lodge to hide the meat.
He kept running in and out, in and out, until all the flesh of his bear had disappeared.
"You haven't finished yours yet," he said to Stone Coat.
''I'm going to kill you!"
'Wait until I show you how to slide downhill," Stone Coat said, and took him to a long, slippery hillside which ended in a cave.
Putting the boy in a wooden bowl.
Stone Coat sent him down at great speed.
But presently the powerful boy ran up the slope again.
"Where did you leave the bow!?" asked the surprised Stone Coat.
"Oh, I don't know--down there, I suppose," the boy replied.
"Well, let's see who can kick this log highest," said Stone Coat.
"You try first," said the little one.
The log was two feet thick and six feet long.
Putting his foot under it, Stone C.oat kicked the log up twice his own height.
Then the boy, slipping his foot under the log, sent it whistling through the air.
It was gone a long time.
Then it came down on Stone Coat's head and crushed him to death.
"Come here," said the boy to Stone Coat's dog.
The dog came, and the little one climbed on his back and rode home.
"Now my father will have a fine hunting dog," he said.
When the father saw the dog, he cried, "What have you done? Stone Coa t will kill us all!"
"I have killed Stone Coat.
He won't trouble us any more," replied the boy, the powerful one.
"Now, boys," said the father, "you must never go to the southwest, the gambling place."
But the next day about noon, the younger brother started walking southwest.
He came to a beautiful opening in the woods, with a lean-to at the farther end.
Sitting under the lean-to a man with a large head, much larger than a buffalo's, played dice for the heads of all who came along.
He used wild-plumpits with designs on them for dice.
Crowds of people were betting in groups of three.
When they lost, as all did, the big-headed man put the three persons to one side.
Then he played with three more, and when they lost he put them with the first three, and so on-until he decided that the number was large enough.
Then he got up and cut all their heads off.
As the boy approached, a number of people who had lost their bets were waiting to be killed.
Hope came to them all, for they sensed that this child had great orenda-power, or medicine.
The boy took his place, and the game began immediately.
When the big-headed man threw the dice, the bay caused some to remain in the dish and others to go high, so that the dice came to rest with different designs showing.
But when the boy threw, the dice turned into woodcocks, flew high, and came down as dice of the same design.
The two played until the boy won back all the people and the gambler lost his own big head, for the boy instantly cut it off.
The whole crowd shouted, "Now you must be our chief!"
The boy said, "How could a little thing like me be a chief? Maybe my father would be willing to do it; I'll ask him."
The boy went home with the story, but his father would not move to the land of gambling.
"Now," said the father, "you must never go to the east, where they play ball."
But the next day the boy traveled east until he came to a great, level country of beautiful plains.
There the Wolf and the Bear clans were playing against the Eagle, the Turtle, and the Beaver clans.
The boy took the side of the Wolf and the Bear.
"If you win," they told him, "you will own all this country."
They played, and the boy won.
"Now,"they say, ' "you are the owner. "
The powerful boy went home and told his father, "I have won all the beautiful country of the east; come and be chief of it."
His father consented and moved with his two boys to the country of the east, and there they lived.

Told by by Jeremiah Curtin and J. N. B. Hewitt around 1910.

2023.06.07 21:12 GoblinPrincessPrill Oat milk package burst in backpack soaking Chromebook

My Chromebook got soaked earlier today after a package of oatmilk I had bought burst in my backpack (it most likely got too squeezed when I was sitting on the buss) I do not know how long it was soaked for exactly but somewhere between 5-15 minutes seem likely given the amount of oatmilk that had pooled up. When I discovered it I removed from the bag immediately. The chromebook was closed during the leak if that matters. Only one side of the chromebook was exposed to the leak as it was in the bag at a vertical angle. Due to the chromebook turning on automatically when it is openen it has been turned on briefly twice since then but shut of immediately both times. Both of those times it "worked" for the few second it was one but that of course means nothing in the long run. The breif turn ons also showed that the screen on the side exposed to the leak is very likely damaged. How long should I wait until I can see if it works properly? I have a desktop pc but I will need it for schoolwork during this weekend because I'm traveling

On my recent re-watch of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I just couldn't help but feel a sense of "hell yes" when Pawan throws the fake ass travel agent who tried to sell Munni into prostitution out of a window. I love to see characters lose their cool and chaos lol. Srikant from family man losing it at his annoying boss also comes to mind. What are some of the moments that have made you sit back and go "yessss"? Want to live them all for myself.

2023.06.07 21:08 jchasinga First RV Road Trip from Vegas to Seattle

First RV Road Trip from Vegas to Seattle
Hi, we are a family of 5 - My wife and I, a six-year-old, a baby, and a poodle! We are renting a class C 2011 Fleetwood Jamboree RV (26') out on our first month-long road trip from our home in Vegas up to Seattle/Bellevue. It would be so awesome if we can get some tips and advice from folks who have done this before from RV and travel perspective! Here is our itinerary:
[Day 1]: Driving from Vegas past Bakersfield to Sequoia RV park near Sequoia/Kings Canyon Big Stump Entrance (6 hr)
[Day 2]: Drive into Sequoia National Park
[Day 3]: Drive into Kings Canyon National Park, and then head to High Sierra RV Park in Oakhurst, close to Yosemite entrance (2 hr)
[Day 4]: Drive into Yosemite
[Day 5]: Head over to Coyote Valley RV Park near San Jose in the bay area (3 hr)
[Day 6]: Stay in the Bay Area to revisit old friends and places
[Day 7]: Head over to Lake Tahoe KOA (3-4 hr)
[Day 8]: Stay in Lake Tahoe
[Day 9]: Head over to Redding RV Park in Redding, CA (near Mt. Shasta) (4 hr)
[Day 10]: Head over to Waterwheel RV Park, OR near Crater Lake National Park (3 hr)
[Day 11]: Stay around Crater Lake and Klamath Falls, OR
[Day 12]: Head over to Sandy Riverfront RV Resort near Portland, OR (5 hr)
[Day 13]: Head over to Trailer Inn RV Park in Bellevue (3 hr 20 min)
We plan to spend the next 10 days in Bellevue and rent a car to explore Seattle (A little nervous to drive the rig into the city), but haven't planned a return trip yet (we have around 8 days for the return trip).
Since we are traveling with a baby (and our first time in an RV), most RV parks we reserved mostly come with full hookups and some amenities. I'm a little anxious about our first 3 days driving so long to the first RV park since it is very close to Sequoia and Kings Canyon Big Stump Entrance and I learned that we can only enter Sequoia through that entrance. It's so hard and confusing to get information such as road closures for these parks.
Does this seem doable? Any stretch sounds too long? Any advice, please? Again our first time in an RV so we are nervous about everything!

2023.06.07 21:08 Dizzy-Elderberry-662 Feeling down

I’ve been debating if I should post this or not, but I guess I just need someone to talk to.
I’ve been struggling all my life with finding myself. I grew up in a loving home. We moved every year, so I never got a chance to make any real friends. I was always the new girl and was bullied a lot which created a lot of insecurities for me. I felt like every friend that I ever made never was a true friend to me. I often find myself shutting down and not wanting to talk to anyone. I feel like that’s the way I cope with things nowadays.
I just want friends that I can go out to eat with, talk on the phone, hangout with, travel, etc., but I don’t have anyone to do that with. I feel so alone. I honestly want to know what my purpose is on this blue thing we call a planet. I feel like just giving up.

2023.06.07 21:08 WithinSnow The Void Realm- lore summarized

In the new awakened hero storyline, we've been told there's a disaster involving falling meteors and Hypogean infestations. In the Bards' Tale quote from Oden, it's confirmed that this is somehow related to the Void Realm. But what is the Void Realm?
Before we begin: I'm mostly referencing the chinese lore, as much have been lost in the english translation regarding the Void Realm. I'll put a * to indicate where the lore will deviate from the english one due to mistranslation.
What is the Void Realm?
When the universe was born, so were two wills. These two wills would eventually substantiate and become the primordial gods Honas: god of life and order, and Lutos: god of chaos and extinction. Over an inconceivable amount of time Honas was crafting multiple worlds using the chaos and fog of the cosmos, one of them becoming Esperia. In the meantime, Lutos was looking into the fundamental truth of the universe and deepening his understanding of its laws and limitations. He came to discover a principle called "Entropy Increase", a state of inevitable movement towards chaos and extinction, a state natural to all existence. Believing that his embodiment of chaos was the essence of the universe, Lutos sought to accelerate this process towards the ultimate void. In order to stop this, Honas crafted a divine artifact called the Astral Key, an object capable of condensing and transmuting the holder's powers into a separate dimension. At the cost of significantly draining his power, Honas used this Astral Key and imprisoned Lutos within this dimension.
Despite being locked into another dimension, Lutos was able to influence the material world to some degree. While Esperia was a place of order under the oversight of the gods, and its Hypogeans were for the most part weak and scattered, the same could not be said about other worlds. In a world where the balance of order was disrupted, it would eventually be wrecked by chaos and a Hypogean infestation. It would then experience a sort of “death” and become pure, dark matter. Taking advantage of the dying worlds, Lutos would absorb these into his own dimension to bolster his power. From this, the dimension would become known as the “Void Realm”, or the “Star Cemetery”.
The Reclaimers
After sealing Lutos away, Honas had expended most of his energy. Having entrusted the safekeeping of the Astral Key to Dura, Honas then entered a deep sleep. Aware of the existence of the Astral Key, but with no knowledge of its whereabouts, Lutos condensed his powers and manifested a powerful and sophisticated intelligence into the world: the Reclaimers. Tasked with finding and retrieving the Astral Key, Lutos dispatched Reclaimers to all nebulas.
The Reclaimers are ineffable beings above the comprehension of mortals, and one such Reclaimer called Uemiss descended upon Esperia. Here he settled in Altor, commencing his plan to build his strength on faith and usurp the pantheon. To do so, he began imparting forbidden knowledge onto its indigenous population. Most listening to his whispers were driven mad, though there were some who survived with a fragment of knowledge. Using this knowledge, the inhabitants of Altor built an utopian civilization, effectively eradicating disease and hunger. This civilization became known as the Helme civilization.
When the gods realized Uemiss’ intentions, they waged war to defend their divine authority. While they won the war, it was not without heavy losses, and Uemiss was too powerful to be outright defeated. Being forced to retreat into the ocean, Uemiss lashed out in one final, devastating blow, dragging down half the land with him into a watery grave.
The remaining people of the Helme civilization were banished to the wilderness by the gods, and the remnants of the Helme civilization destroyed in a cultural genocide. Despite this, some few retained their faith through oral tradition, hoping that one day the true god would once again return in glory.
The Zohra Nebula is swallowed by the Void Realm
At the brink of being destroyed, the Zohra Nebula’s will to survive gave birth to two sisters: Morael and Audrae. Despite their best efforts, the sisters were unable to stop the Nebula’s inevitable path towards destruction, and it was consumed by the Void Realm. This celestial mutation caused a violent chain reaction, eclipsing the stars and darkening the sky, even affecting Esperia through global natural disasters. Being closely connected to nature, the Wilders realized that a powerful extraterrestrial force was interfering with the order of the universe. In order to monitor it, they established “The Star Gazers”.
After the death of the Nebula, the sister parted ways, unable to see eye to eye. While fulfilling her duties as a god, Morael came across a familiar scene: the death of the Mirrah Nebula. Trying to fight the strange, sentient beings (likely Reclaimers) residing there, both sides sustained heavy damage. Morael was left floating through the universe until Dura found her and healed her. After which she became an esperian god.
Meanwhile during her travels, Audrae was able to touch upon a tiny corner of the fundamental truth of the universe. A shadowy abyss where the balance had been thrown off, a planetary graveyard reigned by evil. When she reunited with Morael, she recounted all she’d learned about the Void Realm at that time.
After the first Hypogean War, Morael started her investigation into the Void Realm. Proposing that neither pure order or chaos was the guiding principle of the universe, Audrae suggested they work together, to which Morael agreed.
The First Hypogean War and the creation of the Barred Gate
In the face of a potential Hypogean-caused destruction of Esperia, and knowing that with the fear and evil present in the hearts of mortals would forever nourish them, Dura decided to use the Astral Key to imprison the Hypogeans in a dimensional rift. Despite knowing that this would alert Uemiss to its location. Working together with the mortal factions of Esperia, Dura was able to imprison the Hypogeans in a dimensional rift at the foot of the Oromouth mountains, later becoming known as “The Barred Gate”. Doing so, she was finally able to bring the First Hypogean War to an end. Having expended all her powers, Dura feared Uemiss’ inevitable return and the loss of the Astral Key. In a desperate attempt to prevent this, she worked together with the gods’ smith Ansiel, and sundered the key into seven divine artifacts. These artifacts were scattered among the mortals, their creation and whereabouts kept a secret from all but Ansiel and Dura herself. After divulging her mysterious prophecy, Dura left the mountain and found a place for her eternal rest.
The remaining gods swore an oath to Dura, and would watch over the Barred Gate to ensure nothing escaped.
Oden discovers the “Margin”.
The Order of the Sun, an organization of mages dedicated to researching the lost knowledge of the Era of Man Gods, had one outstanding mage amongst their ranks: the imperial archmage Oden. Through his obsessive research on dimensional magic, Oden one day stumbled upon the Void Realm. Losing himself in some ineffable search for the truth, Oden submitted and swore fealty to the great being within. While the Void Realm is completely separate from this dimension, Oden found a liminal space between he called the “Margin”, a realm formed by the lingering dark matter of destroyed worlds. He discovered that he could siphon energy from this realm to use for his own means. However this did not go unnoticed by the Lightbearers, and Oden was tracked down and executed by the Blademaster Nuns. As a result, The Order of the Sun created a secret sister organization called The Secret Society of the Crow. Receiving covert funding from the imperial family, the Society continued its research into Dark Magic.
* Urged by ambition to seize this forbidden power, scholars of the School of the Dead fervently researched all existing records on the subject, eventually coming upon Oden. Digging up his corpse and weapon, the researchers combined necromancy and black magic, using Oden’s weapon as a core to recall his soul and resurrect him. As the three eyes of the god opened, the researchers did not see the omen for what it was, and disaster followed. His humanity eroded from death and the exposure of the Void Realm, as well as his newfound powers as a Graveborn, marked Oden as a different sort of existence. Upon awakening, he immediately opened a portal to the Margin. A tremendous lightningstrike descended from above, dragging the hapless researchers into the realm beyond to never return. Alarmed by this event, the Eldricht Council dispatched their best to seal Oden away in the dungeons below the School of the Dead, where he still wanders to this day.
Uemiss’ plan and the breach of the Barred Gate
*Khazard, the elemental guardian of water and Seirus’ predecessor, was originally under the impression that he was a Chosen One with a sacred mission. However, while traveling the oceans he kept hearing whispers speaking a different “truth”. This “truth” told him that he was nothing but an insignificant ant, that all beings lived a false lie, and that the gods above the mountains were nothing but self-righteous false gods. No longer able to look upon the world in the same way, Khazards heart began to change, and he followed the guidance of the voice to the depths of the ocean. There, amongst submerged ruins, Khazard found Uemiss. Transforming one of his tentacles into an ice serpent, the serpent coiled around Khazard, changing him into his new form. Khazard then abandoned his duties and joined forces with the Hypogeans. He sought to free the great god he feared, and to get a glimpse of the truth within the Void Realm. The serpent followed him as a companion, in addition to being Uemiss’ eyes and ears on the surface world. A plan hatched, and Khazard was posted at the Barred Gate in wait for its reopening. As a result of the spiritual loss of the Elemental Guardian of water, Seirus was born.
After the war between the Lightbearers and the Maulers, Esperia was inundated with a miasma of negative emotions. The Hypogeans behind the gate, who had been persistent in their efforts to break the seal, were strengthened by the influx of fear, hatred and despair. Since Dura’s powers were not on par with Honas’, the Gate was ultimately not as stable as the Void Realm. Seizing the opportunity, Khazard sent word to Uemiss that the time was right, and Uemiss proceeded to send a horde of his underlings to the surface. While Seirus and Gorvo were able to withstand the initial waves, they were eventually outnumbered, and had no choice but to call on assistance. The gods, now turning their attention to Altor, neglected their vigilance upon the Gate, and with Khazard’s help the Hypogeans broke through. Having failed to uphold their divine vow to Dura, the gods were demoted to demi-gods, or “celestials”.
Present day, not set on the timeline
In a small town at the outskirts of the Lightbearer Empire, a dark force had been slowly eroding the very land. Disciples of this dark force intended to use a nefarious pentagram to break the fabric of reality and usher in a malevolence from the Void Realm. In order to stop this, Lucius and Belinda teamed up with Morael, who had been suppressing the darkness up until that point, though unable to completely destroy it on her own. Although the group was able to prevent disaster, Morael pointed out that underlings of the Void Realm were still numerous in this world.
Gouldos is the minion of Uemiss. While having the same origin, Uemiss is of higher rank and power than Gouldos. Roughly two years ago, Gouldos emerged in Altor, spreading his powers and influence. A maddening, abyssal mist slowly spread across the waters, and malevolent murmurs were carried by the wind.
The hazy noise of imminent disaster reached Lorsan’s ears, though he was unable to make sense of it. It was Arden who was able to see a fragmentary silhouette amongst the wails of fear and torment among all living things. He immediately set about to call upon all beings in Esperia, in an effort to work together to dispel and purify the Chasmic Altar. After finally defeating Gouldos, the Chasmic Altar became the Cleansed Realm. (In terms of the timeline, this event is rather awkward to place.)
Heroes possibly related to this storyline.
Some heroes in-game have a relationship to the Void Realm, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them make an appearance in the new story.
Tldr:
The Void Realm is an alternative dimension where the primordial god of chaos and extinction; Lutos, is imprisoned. Using what limited influence he has on the material world, Lutos is absorbing dying worlds into his dimension to bolster his powers, and dispatching beings of great power and intelligence called Reclaimers, to all nebulas in search for the Astral Key that can free him. One such Reclaimer is Uemiss, who descended upon Esperia. Recovering his strength after the gods banished him to the depth of the ocean, Uemiss has been lying in wait in order to open the Barred Gate and seize the key, which Dura separated into seven divine artifacts right before her death.

2023.06.07 21:08 sehlehneh Does this mean I’m not “ready”?

So I’m two weeks away from TTC and now I’m freaking out.
I’ve been feeling so ready for the past few months. So excited to try and feeling like I’m in the best place to start. I’ve met all my pre-TTC goals.
But for the past week I’ve been quite anxious about it.
-freaking out about it coming up so soon and thinking “am I having a child too young?!” (I’m 29)
-worried about losing friends.
-worried about missing out on travel.
-worried about losing solo time with my partner. Worried about losing my own solo time.
-worried about my postpartum body and worried about not being able to be as active as I am now.
-worried about the huge life shift in general.
Are these normal thoughts or are they a sign that I’m not ready?

2023.06.07 21:07 RombaroExpato 38 [M4F] Northwest Ohio or Elsewhere (extra points if you're Nearbyish) - Older, kind, occasionally funny/insightful gent just wants to find younger counterpart to share life with. NBD. (Long Post/Deep Convo Enthusiast? Click here)

So, out the gate, if you're the type that is constantly googling and looking up anything that you are unfamiliar with or rechecking things that you feel you know but want to make sure, you're probably A. CLEARLY pretty popular and just the life of parties and social events and B. Maybe just the kind of person I'm looking for.
If not, that's also okay, just know that I was one of those weird kids that grew up with hardly any other kids in the neighborhood and when I was little I often had my face buried in an encyclopedia set, so I sadly find that how much information I have in my head often seems to alienate people and I wish that wasn't so. I don't think of that as anything more than having good opportunities to be helpful to others.
(Short Bio for those that feel that kind of small talk is necessary before deep diving into conversations and getting to know people:
*6'2" Dad Bod, Bald with a usually short beard that's being grown out for the first time for funzies
*Small business owner that works nights. Jack of all trades that used to be a professional traveling performance artist and now is more of a homebody that makes and sells "Goofy" art.
*Studied psych and has plenty of experience in therapy myself and has years being people's unofficial therapist as a bartender, so I'm really solid if you have any kind of trauma that you want to get into. I've literally seen just about everything you can imagine.
*I'm also completely open with my own issues and trauma. I have depression, anxiety, some neurological issues, and I've been the victim of SA, so if we talk about anything, hopefully you don't mind when people try to relate, I just mainly like to let people know they're not alone and that I'm listening.
Hopefully that all works as "Short")
That being said. I'm lonely and looking to just find someone to focus on and be completely open with that can hopefully become a thing IRL. I want that person to be younger generally because I find I get along better with younger people generally, but I'm relatively open to just finding whatever works and makes sense.
I'm child-free and not particularly interested in changing that anytime soon if ever, and even still adopting makes a lot more sense to me than making a new one, but ideally I would just like to be greedy and have a partner to myself for at least a little bit if kids eventually had to be a part of the plan.
Beyond all of that, I don't know exactly what else to mention beyond just wanting to find someone that I can talk to and feel like there's someone out there to care about that hopefully feels the same.
I don't really have a set age I'm looking for beyond hopefully at the very least college age. I don't think much of age beyond it being something that most of the world seems to like to think means something more than just a respresentation of time out of the womb.
I think the reality seems to be that once people get out of school, a lot of people don't really mature or grow a whole lot as people, they mostly just change what they get immature about, stop evolving and get tired/set in their ways. I've just never felt that I've ever been satisfied with the notion that there isn't more to learn about the world.
That all being said, I don't want to waste anyone's time and I certainly hope I haven't wasted yours by having you read all of this. I'll just put forward that I'm not here to be gross, pervy, or sexualize anyone. I don't want to have a fling, a part time arrangement, and I'm single and not looking to cheat or really a lot of the stuff you come to expect on these kinds of dating subs, so hopefully we're on the same page.
If so, send me a message and to let me know that you actually are a person and not just someone trying to click someone to click a link, ask me to see some of the goofy art that I make. We can both wonder why people like them together as an ice breaker.

2023.06.07 21:07 endersgame69 Adopted By Humans VII C20

There is a human expression, the candle that shines twice as bright burns for half as long. Perhaps the short lifespans of humans has something to do with this, but in the days following the Walker decision to abide by the wishes of both governments, the reality of the danger seemed to settle in over them all.
Not just because of the trip itself, and space travel was still not without its risks, pirates, accidents, natural disasters, many things could happen that would leave someone dying in the void to drift forever between the stars.
But also because the very success of our collective task might well be the axel on which the future peace of the galaxy. Everybody wanted to land on the Rogue World.
Everybody wanted the technological secrets that the scans from so long ago hinted might be there, nobody wanted anyone else to have it, and everybody was willing to kill everybody else to keep that from happening.
And with this rising danger came not a deep, dark depression, but a kind of strange celebration.
We had some months before the station could be completed, after which William would no longer need to do more than survey the final work and be briefed by the foreman of each section, a few days of tests and diagnostics at most.
And even when that was done, Bonny Red was six months away. True, Rebecca still had her role in the Methuselah Initiative, but she worked from home for the most part and then not every hour of every day.
So as a kind of send off, before the world itself was alerted to any dangers, William arranged for a family reunion. Rebecca, unfortunately, had no surviving family members on her side, which is unfortunate, but also perhaps explains her particular care for the one she shares a household with.
William Walker’s family tree however, is vast. Not just in his sisters, but also in his father’s brothers and sisters who in turn had wives, husbands, and children, and the same went for his father’s father, who had brothers and sisters who… well let it simply be said that a ‘family reunion’ for the Walker clan is an extensive one. On the unexpected upside, that did make it easy for Professor Sxlith to ensure every one of his chosen students had a Walker family branch to host them.
As a matter of necessity our collaboration was minimal and our professor, while available, kept himself distant unless we expressly sought out his advice, and I seldom had occasion to do so.
So it had been quite some time, actually years, now that I thought about it, since we’d been in the same room together and months since I had written anything other than progress notes to my professor and a request for his opinion on how the University would respond to my fighting league.
Arranging for the reunion took the better part of a month, and it had to be scheduled three months out and certain calls had to be made to ask certain people to call various supervisors, bosses, and so on, and ensure that they understood it was important that nothing interfere with their brief absences.
I think, for the sake of the historical record, that it’s important to say that William did not ask the government to do this for him. However modern Earth society puts a great deal of emphasis on general ‘wellness’ and having high morale in their work.
To put this in analogous terms, on Dlamias, if you recall my previous writings about my homeworld, we have a veritable army of surveyors who are always checking social trends in order to control for any potential issues. That process kept us stable for millenia, as we could identify shortfalls and dangerous elements, possible corruption, and more. I daresay our statisticians are some of the hardest working in the galaxy and we are the best documented people…anywhere.
By contrast, the humans of Earth kept experts on mental wellness, something my world never had, and their role was to ensure that demographics were not experiencing uncertainty, doubt, or struggle. The occasion of the Silent Civil War showed that, if anything, they were significantly underfunded and so their numbers rose. More than that, they were now tied to other social service and survey work, keeping closely tied to their own census offices to look for social trends that might pose a danger or identify a growing weakness.
Somebody involved in that office likely suggested that the Walkers would perform best if they gained a profoundly positive experience beforehand, and a large reunion seemed to fit the bill.
Or rather… fit the will.
William’s puns are rubbing off on me. I know it. It is a sickness and I cannot stop. May my readers forgive me.
Moving on… in the aftermath of that decision and having made arrangements for the family reunion, Fauve took the unusual step of buying tickets to Waterland Park.
I was at the table when the notification came in on my datapad.
Fauve was at the table munching on a crispy piece of bacon. I did not know there was a smug way to chew. But apparently I was wrong.
She sat there tinkering away on her datapad while eating her breakfast, steam rose from the eggs and while she waited for the biscuits to arrive, and a moment later Byron and Boatswain came into view as they passed through the library of the house.
The bullet holes in the wall were all patched and the blood was long since cleaned up, the whole place looked like new. I could still smell the faint odor of blood even years later, but on reflection I considered that more likely to be mental than real.
“Waterland Park? Isn’t that where…?” Byron didn’t finish the sentence. He may have been a brute of a soldier, but as a man, as someone who was virtually part of the family, he was very sensitive about anything to do with the Walker children. Even if that ‘child’ was now an adult in her own right.
I think if he had been there that day, he might have killed the one responsible. I won’t pretend I don’t sometimes wish I had. Now the park was under new management and it had a much better reputation.
But even so, I was surprised to see the purchase.
Rebecca set the tray of biscuits down and Fauve immediately snatched one up and began to make a bacon and egg biscuit out of the three components.
“Yes. It was. But the old bastard is who knows and who cares where now, and his trash son is rotting in a prison somewhere. Besides, it’s summer, we should go somewhere fun.” Fauve pointed out as her father entered the room after having dressed.
“But there? Is that really wise?” He asked.
“Yes.” Fauve said, considering it was now summer, her voice was cold as ice.
“We need something fun to do for the reunion, I mean, dad, I know how the rest of your side of the family gets.” She gave him a phony death stare and William, to his credit, sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
“They are a… funny lot.” He acknowledged.
“Uh huh.” Fauve agreed, “But we can’t just have them hanging out here all day, the house has only so much space, and they’ve got a bunch of kids Michael’s age and younger. We should get everybody good and tired so they can really relax for the rest of the day.”
“But there?” Boatswain pointed out, “We could just as easily go to the local park and set up a barbecue and some games.”
Boatswain’s response was practical, it was true, but unironically we’d all still end up getting wet, I’d wager.
“True, but…” Fauve stopped and reached for the pot of coffee her mother set on the table, as she filled her cup she said, “Who knows if I’ll ever get to go there again, that’s the last thing, the last place where I ever felt weak. I want to go back and conquer it, before I go out into space…again, to go do something else. I can’t…” She breathed out a weighty sigh and began dumping spoonfuls of sugar into her coffee cup, the faint noise of the metal spoon ‘tinking’ against the mug before the scraping of it as she stirred was like a timer counting down the moments until she explained herself.
“I can’t just leave for months, or a year, or whatever, without going back there first, it’ll feel like running away again. It’s nobody else’s problem, everybody else will have fun, but I want to know that I can. I want to face that place and laugh and splash and get wet and go down slides like we were supposed to. You know? Besides, everybody will have fun and if I do struggle, I’m ten minutes from home.”
The table was quiet, Michael was yawning as he came down the stairs with his face buried in his datapad. “Are these… tickets?” He asked.
“Besides, I already bought them so now you have to go or your Fauve’s heart will just be utterly shattered.” She made a gasping noise, leaned back, and clutched melodramatically at her heart before winking at the rest of us.
“Well we don’t want that… so fine. It’s not like nobody can get a swimsuit.” William agreed.
Rebecca looked toward Michael and answered, “Yes, your big sister bought us all tickets to the waterpark for the reunion.”
“Hey, thanks Fauve!” He said and gave her a big hug, squeezing her around the upper arms when he leaned forward behind her.
“You’re welcome.” Fauve said, though I think not just to Michael, and took a big bite out of her bacon and egg biscuit, which she proceeded to chew quite slowly.
That, settled that.
And yes… she was definitely looking smug about it.

2023.06.07 21:06 JoshAsdvgi THE PEACE WITH THE SNAKES

THE PEACE WITH THE SNAKES

THE PEACE WITH THE SNAKES

In those days there was a Piegan chief named Owl Bear.
He was a great chief, very brave and generous.
One night he had a dream : he saw many dead bodies of the enemy
lying about, scalped, and he knew that he must go to war.
So he called out for a feast, and after the people had eaten, he said : —
" I had a strong dream last night.
I went to war against the Snakes, and killed many of their warriors.
So the signs are good, and I feel that I must go.
Let us have a big party now, and I will be the leader.
We will start tomorrow night."
Then he told two old men to go out in the camp and shout the news, so that all might know. A big party was made up.
Two hundred men, they say, went with this chief to war.
The first night they travelled only a little way, for they were not used to walking, and soon got tired.
In the morning the chief got up early and went and made a sacrifice, and when he came back to the others, some said, " Come now, tell us your dream of this night."
" I dreamed good," said Owl Bear. "
I had a good dream. We will have good luck."
But many others said they had bad dreams.
They saw blood running from their bodies.
Night came, and the party started on, travelling south, and keeping near the foot-hills ; and when daylight came, they stopped in thick pine woods and built war lodges.
They put up poles as for a lodge, and covered them very thick with pine boughs, so they could build fires and cook, and no one would see the light and smoke ; and they all ate
some of the food they carried, and then went to sleep.
Again the chief had a good dream, but the others all had bad dreams, and some talked about turning back ; but Owl Bear laughed at them, and when night came, all started on.
So they travelled for some nights, and all kept dreaming bad except the chief.
He always had good dreams.
One day after a sleep, a person again asked Owl Bear if he dreamed good.
" Yes," he replied. " I have again dreamed of good luck."
"We still dream bad," the person said, "and now some of us are going to turn back.
We will go no further, for bad luck is surely ahead." " Go back ! go back ! " said Owl Bear.
" I think you are cowards ; I want no cowards with me."
They did not speak again.
Many of them turned around, and started north, toward home.
Two more days' travel. Owl Bear and his warriors went on, and then another party turned back, for they still had bad dreams.
All the men now left with him were his relations. All the others had turned back.
They travelled on, and travelled on, always having bad dreams, until they came close to the Elk River.'
Then the oldest relation said, " Come, my chief, let us all turn back.
We still have bad dreams. We cannot have good luck."
" No," replied Owl Bear, " I will not turn back."
Then they were going to seize him and tie his hands, for they had talked of this before.
They thought to tie him and make him go back with them.
Then the chief got very angry.
He put an arrow on his bow, and said : " Do not touch me.
You are my relations ; but if any of you try to tie me, I will kill you.
Now I am ashamed. My relations are cowards and will turn back.
I have told you I have Yellowstone River, always dreamed good, and that we would have good luck.
Now I don't care ; I am covered with shame.
I am going now to the Snake camp and will give them my body.
I am ashamed. Go ! go ! and when you get home put on women's dresses.
You are no longer men."
They said no more. They turned back homeward, and the chief was all alone.
His heart was very sad as he travelled on, and he was much ashamed, for his relations
had left him.
Night was coming on. The sun had set and rain was beginning to fall.
Owl Bear looked around for some place where he could sleep dry.
Close by he saw a hole in the rocks.
He got down on his hands and knees and crept in.
Here it was very dark. He could see nothing, so he crept very slowly, feeling as he went.
All at once his hand touched something strange.
He felt of it. It was a person's foot, and there was a moccasin on it.
He stopped, and sat still. Then he felt a little further.
Yes, it was a person's leg.
He could feel the cowskin legging. Now he did not know what to do.
He thought perhaps it was a dead person ; and again, he thought it might be one of his relations, who had become ashamed and turned back after him.
Pretty soon he put his hand on the leg again and felt along up.
He touched the person's belly. It was warm.
He felt of the breast, and could feel it rise and fall as the breath came and went ; and the heart was beating fast.
Still the person did not move. Maybe he was afraid. Perhaps he thought that was a ghost feeling of him.
Owl Bear now knew this person was not dead.
He thought he would try if he could learn who the man was, for he was not afraid.
His heart was sad. His people and his relations had left him, and he had made up his mind to
give his body to the Snakes.
So he began and felt all over the man, of his face, hair, robe, leggings, belt, weapons ;
and by and by he stopped feeling of him.
He could not tell whether it was one of his people or not.
Pretty soon the strange person sat up and felt all over Owl Bear; and when he had finished, he took the Piegan's hand and opened it and held it up, waving it from side to side, saying by signs, " Who are you? "
Owl Bear put his closed hand against the person's cheek and rubbed it ; he said in signs, " Piegan ! " and then he asked the person who he was.
A finger was placed against his breast and moved across it zigzag. It was the sign for "Snake."
" Hat yah/'' thought Owl Bear, " a Snake, my enemy."
For a long time he sat still, thinking. By and by he drew his knife from his belt and placed it in the Snake's hand, and signed, " Kill me ! "
He waited. He thought soon his heart would be cut. He wanted to die.
Why live ? His people had left him.
Then the Snake took Owl Bear's hand and put a knife in it and motioned that Owl Bear should cut his heart, but the Piegan would not do it.
He lay down, and the Snake lay down beside him.
Maybe they slept. Likely not.
So the night went and morning came. It was light, and they crawled out of the cave, and talked a long time together by signs.
Owl Bear told the Snake where he had come from, how his party had dreamed bad and left him, and that he was going alone to give his body to the Snakes.
Then the Snake said : " I was going to war, too. I was going against the Piegans.
Now I am done. Are you a chief?"
" I am the head chief," replied Owl Bear. " I lead. All the others follow," " I am the same as you," said the Snake.
" I am the chief. I like you. You are brave. You gave me your knife to kill you with.
How is your heart ? Shall the Snakes and the Piegans make peace?"
" Your words are good," replied Owl Bear. " I am glad."
" How many nights will it take you to go home and come back here with your people?" asked the Snake.
Owl Bear thought and counted. " In twenty-five nights," he replied, " the Piegans will camp down by that creek."
" My trail," said the Snake, " goes across the mountains.
I will try to be here in twenty-five nights, but I will camp with my people just behind that first mountain.
When you get here with the Piegans, come with one of your wives and stay all night with me.
In the morning the Snakes will move and put up their lodges beside the Piegans."
"As you say," repUed the chief, "so it shall be done."
Then they built a fire and cooked some meat and ate together.
" I am ashamed to go home," said Owl Bear. " I have taken no horses, no scalps.
Let me cut off your side locks?"
" Take them," said the Snake.
Owl Bear cut off the chief's braids close to his head, and then the Snake cut ofT the Piegan's braids.
Then they exchanged clothes and weapons and started out, the Piegan north, the Snake south.
" Owl Bear has come ! Owl Bear has come 1 " the people were shouting.
The warriors rushed to his lodge. Whish ! how quickly it was filled !
Hundreds stood outside, waiting to hear the news.
For a long time the chief did not speak. He was still angry with his people.
An old man was talking, telling the news of the camp. Owl Bear did not look at him.
He ate some food and rested. Many were in the lodge who haa started to war with him. They were now ashamed. They did not speak, either, but kept looking at the fire.
After a long time the chief said : " I travelled on alone. I met a Snake.
I took his scalp and clothes, and his weapons.
See, here is his scalp ! " And he held up the two braids of hair.
No one spoke, but the chief saw them nudge each other and smile a little ; and soon they went out and said to one another : "What a lie ! That is not an enemy's scalp ; there
is no flesh on it.
He has robbed some dead person."
Some one told the chief what they said, but he only laughed and replied : " I do not care. They were too much afraid even to go on and rob a dead person.
They should wear women's dresses."
Near sunset. Owl Bear called for a horse, and rode all through camp so every one could hear, shouting out :
" Listen ! listen ! To-morrow we move camp. We travel south.
The Piegans and Snakes are going to make peace.
If any one refuses to go, I will kill him.
All must go." Then an old medicine man came up to him and said :
"Kyi, Owl Bear! listen to me. Why talk like this? You know we are not afraid of the Snakes.
Have we not fought them and driven them out of this country?
Do you think we are afraid to go and meet them ? No. We will go and make peace with them as you say, and if they want to fight, we will fight.
Now you are angry with those who started to war with you.
Don't be angry. Dreams belong to the Sun.
He gave them to us, so that we can see ahead and know what will happen.
The Piegans are not cowards.
Their dreams told them to turn back.
So do not be angry with them any more."
"There is truth in what you say, old man," replied Owl Bear ; " I will take your words."
In those days the Piegans were a great tribe.
When they travelled, if you were with the head ones, you could not see the last ones, they were so far back.
They had more horses than they could count, so they used fresh horses every day and travelled very fast.
On the twenty-fourth day they reached the place where Owl Bear had told the Snake they would camp, and put up their lodges along the creek.
Soon some young men came in, and said they had seen some fresh horse trails up toward the mountain.
"It must be the Snakes," said the chief; "they have already arrived, although there is yet one night."
So he called one of his wives, and getting on their horses they set out to find the Snake camp.
They took the trail up over the mountain, and soon came in sight of the lodges.
It was a big camp. Every open place in the valley was covered with lodges, and the hills were dotted with horses ; for the Snakes had a great many more horses than the Piegans.
Some of the Snakes saw the Piegans coming, and they ran to the chief, saying : " Two strangers are in sight, coming this way.
What shall be done? " "Do not harm them," replied the chief.
"They are friends of mine. I have been expecting them."
Then the Snakes wondered, for the chief had told them nothing about his war trip.
Now when Owl Bear had come to the camp, he asked in signs for the chiefs lodge, and they pointed him to one in the middle.
It was small and old. The Piegan got off his horse, and the Snake chief came out and hugged him and kissed him, and said : "I am glad you have come to-day to my lodge.
So are my people. You are tired. Enter my lodge and we will eat."
So they went inside and many of the Snakes came in, and they had a great feast.
Then the Snake chief told his people how he had met the Piegan, and how brave he was, and that now they were going to make a great peace ; and he sent some men to tell
the people, so that they would be ready to move camp in the morning. Evening came. Everywhere people were shouting out for feasts, and the chief took Owl Bear to them.
It was very late when they returned.
Then the Snake had one of his wives make a bed at the back of the lodge ; and when it was ready he said : " Now, my friend, there is your bed.
This is now your lodge ; also the woman who made the bed, she is now your wife ; also
everything in this lodge is yours.
The parfleches, saddles, food, robes, bowls, everything is yours.
I give them to you because you are my friend and a brave man."
" You give me too much," replied Owl Bear. "
I am ashamed, but I take your words.
I have nothing with me but one wife. She is yours."
Next morning camp was broken early.
The horses were driven in, and the Snake chief gave Owl Bear his whole band, two hundred head, all large, powerful horses.
All were now ready, and the chiefs started ahead.
Close behind them were all the warriors, hundreds and hundreds, and last came the women and children, and the young men driving the loose horses.
As they came in sight of the Piegan camp, all the warriors started out to meet them, dressed in their war costumes and singing the great war song.
There was no wind, and the sound came across the valley and up the hill like the noise of thunder.
Then the Snakes began to sing, and thus the two parties advanced.
At last they met. The Piegans turned and rode beside them, and so they came to the camp. Then they got off their horses and kissed each other.
Every Piegan asked a Snake into his lodge to eat and rest, and the Snake women put up their lodges beside the Piegan lodges.
So the great peace was made.
In Owl Bear's lodge there was a great feast, and when they had finished he said to his people : " Here is the man whose scalp I took.
Did I say I killed him? No. I gave him my knife and told him to kill me.
He would not do it ; and he gave me his knife, but I would not kill him.
So we talked together what we should do, and now we have made peace.
And now (turning to the Snake) this is your lodge, also all the things in it.
My horses, too, I give you. All are yours."
So it was. The Piegan took the Snake's wife, lodge, and horses, and the Snake took the Piegan's, and they camped side by side.
All the people camped together, and feasted each other and made presents.
So the peace was made.
For many days they camped side by side.
The young men kept hunting, and the women were always busy drying meat and tanning robes and cowskins.
Buffalo were always close, and after a while the people had all the meat and robes they could carry.
Then, one day, the Snake chief said to Owl Bear : " Now, my friend, we have camped a long
time together, and I am glad we have made peace.
We have dug a hole in the ground, and in it we have put our anger and covered it up, so there is no more war between us.
And now I think it time to go. Tomorrow morning the Snakes break camp and go back south."
"Your words are good," replied Owl Bear. "I too am glad we have made this peace.
You say you must go south, and I feel lonesome.
I would like you to go with us so we could camp together a long time, but as you say, so it shall be done.
Tomorrow you will start south. I too shall break camp, for I would be lonesome here without you ; and the Piegans will start in the home direction."
The lodges were being taken down and packed.
The men sat about the fireplaces, taking a last smoke together.
They were now great friends. Many Snakes had married Piegan women, and many Piegans had married Snake women.
At last all was ready.
The great chiefs mounted their horses and started out, and soon both parties were strung out on the trail.
Some young men, however, stayed behind to gamble a while. It was yet early in the morning, and by riding fast it would not take them long to catch up with their camps.
All day they kept playing ; and sometimes the Piegans would win, and sometimes the Snakes.
It was now almost sunset. " Let us have one horse race," they said, "and we will stop."
Each side had a good horse, and they ran their best ; but they came in so close together it could not be told who won.
The Snakes claimed that their horse won, and the Piegans would not allow it.
So they got angry and began to quarrel, and pretty soon they began to fight and to shoot at each other, and some were killed.
Since that time the Snakes and Piegans have never been at peace.

Sure, here's a sample itinerary for a 7-day trip to Iceland:
Day 1: Reykjavik

2023.06.07 21:05 Fumblez1724 Diablo 4 Feedback: Improving QoL, Designs & Endgame

Hello fellow Diablo enthusiasts,
I wanted to take a moment to address some of the concerns and complaints that have been circulating regarding Diablo 4. While the game is still in development and subject to change, it's essential to voice our opinions and provide constructive feedback in the hope of seeing improvements over time. Here are some prevalent concerns that I've come across, along with potential solutions that could enhance the overall player experience:

Quality of Life:
  1. Gem Pouch and Nightmare Sigil Pouch: The limited inventory space for gems and the fact that the Nightmare Sigil Pouch shares a tab with consumables can become frustrating. It would be great to have a separate, dedicated pouch for gems, allowing us to pick them up without worrying about inventory constraints.
  2. Ear Pouch: Currently, ears share inventory space without any significant use. Introducing a purpose for ears, such as using them as a currency for specific rewards or crafting materials, would make them more valuable and encourage players to collect and utilize them.
  3. Horse Sprint and Barricades: It would be a great addition if horse sprinting allowed us to leap over barricades, making traversal more seamless and convenient. This feature would be especially helpful when exploring the world or engaging in fast-paced combat encounters.
  4. Vendors and Travel Distances: Moving vendors closer to each other within towns or introducing additional vendors would lessen the need for excessive travel. Alternatively, allowing horse sprint and abilities to be used within town limits would also help in reducing travel time and enhancing convenience.

Design Decisions:
  1. Looking for Group Tool and World Chat: The absence of a looking for group tool or world chat feature has been a point of contention. Implementing these features would facilitate easier grouping and foster a stronger sense of community within the game.
  2. Gems and Ears: To address the issue of redundant gems and unused ears, it would be beneficial to introduce more ways to utilize them. For example, higher-level gem enhancements, gem-related crafting recipes, or rare and powerful items that require a combination of gems and ears as a crafting material.
  3. Repeatable Campaign Bosses: Allowing players to face campaign bosses repeatedly, even after completion, in the form of whispers activities would provide additional challenges and rewards. Furthermore, it would prevent the unintentional brick of Hardcore characters not being able to complete Hardcore campaign boss kill achievments when utilizing the skip campaign feature (after being completed on a softcore character).
  4. Lack of Build Diversity: A common concern is the limited number of viable endgame builds for each class. Expanding the range of viable build options would promote greater diversity and encourage experimentation among players.
  5. Helltide Density: Increasing the density of Helltide encounters would create more thrilling and action-packed moments, enhancing the overall excitement and engagement of endgame content.
(Opinion) Unsatisfactory Endgame Loops:
  1. Dungeons: The lack of diversity in map layouts and events within dungeons can make the endgame experience feel repetitive. Introducing a wider variety of layouts and unique events for each dungeon would add depth and excitement to the gameplay.
  2. Campaign Bosses as Uber Versions: Utilizing campaign bosses as uber versions would provide an additional challenge for players, rewarding them with unique loot and further incentivizing exploration and progression. Currently we only have Uber Lilith. It feels like a wasted opportunity to not include Andariel, Duriel, Astaroth and Elijah.
It's important to remember that Diablo 4 is still in development, and the development team values our feedback. By addressing these concerns constructively, we can contribute to the improvement and evolution of the game. Let's continue to provide feedback, share ideas, and work together to shape Diablo 4 into the best experience it can be.
Stay vigilant, Nephalem!

2023.06.07 21:04 FitPermit4644 Dating doesn’t work for me – Am I the problem?

I’ve (25f) been on dates with six different people in the past half a year and decided that this sample is big enough to conclude that online dating doesn't work for me (work meaning making it to a third date) and I’ll give it up. Still, I think that 6 is a kinda big number and I wonder what’s going so wrong, was I unlucky or is it my fault? My matches on dating apps are very selective and chat with people for a while before meeting in person, so they were not random people but all of them seemed nice and interesting beforehand.
Person 1: nice, interesting, handsome – they deleted the match after the date. Obviously, here I was the problem.
Person 2: was talking about themselves continuously, didn’t ask any questions. If I’d wanted to say something, I would have had to interrupt. I don’t want conversations to feel like a constant fight for the right to speak. Rather, I’d stop listening. In the end they told me that I’m too shy.
Person 3: great first date, good conversation, they’re cute. After the second date, I figured that I like them as a friend but don’t see anything else in it. I simply didn’t find them interesting enough, and in this case, it might be definitely my fault, as I’m too picky? I found my ex interesting from beginning on (especially due to their job, travelling, general knowledge). My date didn’t have as much general knowledge and I find it weird having to explain a lot to someone, especially after learning so much from my ex who was ways smarter than me. Also, they don’t travel (obviously not everyone can afford it, I haven’t travelled as much either, but my date hasn’t left the city in years and the country – small central European country – only once in their life). I might have too high expectations, might be looking for things I liked about my ex in other people. On the other hand, isn’t finding them interesting a prerequisite for falling in love with someone?
Person 4: did not really do anything wrong, but all in all I didn’t feel comfortable. Was talking about their ex slightly too often and opened Bumble in front of me to scroll down to our chat and check something we’ve talked about. While their phone was on the table, I could see that currently they were talking to like 15 other people. Obviously, we were not exclusive after one date, but I don’t think it’s needed to show your date how much concurrence there is. (Most likely, some of these people are better than me, then obviously my date should for them.) And mainly, this person made the most intense eye contact I’ve ever experienced. They were constantly staring in my eyes and I was constantly feeling weird. Maybe it was supposed to be nice, flirty, and I shouldn’t complain. But I was feeling incredibly uncomfortable and just wanted to escape.
Person 5: nice, polite, cute, interesting, smart – basically everything my other dates before weren’t. After the second date, they told me they’re not looking for a monogamous relationship. Which is perfectly fine, of course, but doesn’t match with my expectations.
Person 6: was okay, but all in all didn’t seem like a decent person. Said a lot of questionable and very judgy things. One thing I particularly remember: When telling me about their former work in a nursing home, they said: “It’s not the residents’ fault, but they were so annoying I’d liked to kick them down the stairs.”
Am I just ridiculously picky and searching for problems? Was I unlucky? Is six people without making it to a third date a high number?
