1967 C10 guide
2023.03.30 05:51 -Tamis- 1967 C10 guide
Been in the family since I was a kid. From events it has winded up at my house for storage. It's in good shape but has a few issues. Where would I go to learn more about how to work on these trucks? I have very minimal auto repair history, changing oil, spark plugs, breaks, etc. But definitely don't want it to just sit in my garage for years and years rotting away.

2023.03.30 03:33 PecosUnderground I can prove my current employer defrauded me when I was a customer... now what?
For reference, this is in New Mexico.
I recently made a bit of a career change and took a job as a finance manager at a small local dealership. I knew next-to-nothing about the retail auto industry, but owner asked me to give it a shot (he's a friend), and I've really taken off here. However...
Three years ago, I bought a truck from this dealership as a customer. Come to find out the finance manager at the time, the guy I ended up replacing years later, was a total scumbag. However, as I was signing paperwork in the office, I trusted him because I trusted the owner. He sold me on the manufacturer's extended warranty for full price - $4,000. He explicitly said it was "bumper to bumper" coverage and we talked about what would happen if the engine blew up or the tranny went out. The buyer's order and retail contract stated it was bumper-to-bumper as well. I had just been through a string of shitbox cars and this was my first big-boy truck purchase, so $4,000 seemed like a bargain for the peace of mind.
Fast forward a few years, and new-employee me is having problems with the engine. It takes MONTHS to get it serviced (a story for another time) and I threaten to take it to another shop - but the service manager assures me it will be paid for, because "I have [manufacturer's warranty] and it's the best". Eventually, my truck gets fixed, but now the service manager can't close the Repair Order. There's no extended service plan coverage for that failure. What gives?
I start reading up and pulling original contracts. Eventually, I go line-by-line through the extended warranty contract and pull the original deal file. Come to find out, the old finance manager did NOT sell me a true "bumper to bumper" warranty. He sold me a "bumper to bumper" wrap plan that is supposed to go around some kind of powertrain warranty... like a Certified Pre-Owned warranty. It was far cheaper, because it did NOT cover the powertrain, just "wrapped" around it.
Around this time, I approach my boss, the owner. He looks over everything, apologizes, and says [the old finance manager] must have misunderstood how wrap plans work and "he probably would have made the same mistake". I wasn't satisfied though, and kept digging.
The manufacturer requires that wrap plans can only be sold on a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. I taught myself how use the service writer's system and then methodically searched through each repair order for my vehicle. There's no record it was EVER CPO'd. Then I pulled the deal gross and recap. The old finance manager made DOUBLE the usual gross for an extended warranty. By now, I'm pissed and I realized I had been played. He sold me a bogus warranty (who cares if the AC and window motors are covered, the engine, transmission, and 4x4 isn't!) that was ineligible under the manufacturer's policy... then charged me full price for it. I printed everything out and downloaded ALL of my records to a flash drive - just in case.
So now... I don't know what to do. I know that if a customer had this problem, I would be screaming at my boss to "buy them out" before they filed a unfair trade practice/consumer fraud claim. With the documentation I have, I'm almost certain I could prove misrepresentation and damages. I could probably even prove willfulness. However, making that claim would nuke my friendship with the owner. I want to "settle out" with him and I'm meeting with him tomorrow to show him what else I've found. I thought I trusted the owner, but now I'm not so sure. Can he fire/terminate me now that I've reported an unlawful act? What should I ask for if we "settle out"?
Finally, I'm not sure I'm cut out for this job any more. I'm guy who sells warranties... and I got scammed on my own warranty.

2023.03.30 02:51 ohmeohmyo Replacement for Wells Fargo Propel Amex?
I received a letter in the mail today from Wells Fargo saying they're discontinuing the Propel Amex card that I've happily had with them for several years now, and converting my CC account to a Visa Signature card.
I read through the 3 booklets they sent me, and it looks like a downgrade in cards for me.
My biggest complaints are I'm losing my 3% Cashback on ALL purchases, and only getting 3X points on some items, and 1X points on the rest. So, I will get less rewards when I shop at the grocery/home improvement/hardware/auto repair stores. Also, I will no longer get fee free foreign currency exchange, so everytime I use my card outside the US, I'll probably get hit with a $5 fee per transaction.
Can anyone suggest a better replacement for my soon to be gone Amex? Something with $0 annual fee.
I pay off my card every month, so I'm not concerned about interest rates. In the last several years, I've gotten to where I use my Amex for 95% of my non cash transactions, and this change really annoys me.
Thanks for any help, and sorry if I asked a novice question.

2023.03.30 01:26 Prestigious-Duck-875 Best Autobody Shop?
Hi folks
I’m in need of some body work on my pride and joy, but I’m new to the Valley and don’t know where to go. I know it’s silly to get attached to a car but my vehicle means a great deal to my family — it’s more a family member than a tool my family uses, so getting good quality work is important to us.
Can anyone recommend an exceptionally good and amazing auto body repair shop in the Valley or beyond? One that, were they surgeons, you would trust to operate on your child? Or imagine you are a devout Catholic, and the Pope himself is asking for a referral for the Pope mobile, and your ability to get into heaven depends on how good a job the body shop you recommend does. I can keep going with metaphors and analogies to express how particular I am hoping to be with whomever repairs my vehicle but I think you get the point. The cost doesn’t matter, only the care of my vehicle and the quality of work they do.
I’d also be grateful to hear horror stories so I know who to avoid.
Thanks all!

2023.03.29 22:59 Writteninsanity SIX ORBITS - Chapter 17: Welcome to Station 26
Station 26 stood out as a beacon in the near infinite darkness of space, a lone source of light in the void, so far from stars that, if not for the neon signs and spotlights, the view from the ship would have been a black canvas with pinprick lights.
Around the station stretched the Avertani asteroid cluster and the thousands of mining ships moving around within it. The cluster was the reason there was a station here in the first place, the Daggeral had opened a massive mining operation here long before humanity came to the stars, centuries after they’d been kicked out, Station 26 was still here, still discovering new deposits in the seemingly limitless asteroids.
The Galaxy needed lithium, so there was always money to be made.
Victoria had been glued to the front of the ship since we’d broken out of the veil offering waffling comments on whether Station 26 was brilliant or ostentatious. I would have offered an opinion but it wouldn't have been constructive without context, and I wasn’t about to give context.
“PHMS Gunboat Diplomat, we’re still getting approval for your landing codes, thank you for your patience.”
I sighed at the message and pressed ‘mark received’ as opposed to responding over the radio. Victoria looked over at me.
“What’s going on with you and this place?”
“Hm?”
“You clearly don’t want to be here. I don’t think it’s just a safety thing.”
“Well, Station 26 certainly isn’t safe.”
“Not why I’m asking.”
I checked the computer to see if the landing codes had been accepted. Longer processing times were never a good sign.
“As your client I think I deserve to know.”
“As your handler I think I should know why the Meritocracy is coming after us,” I answered without looking up at her.
Victoria left the cockpit. I’d been forthcoming with her about most things so far but she wouldn’t understand the history of Station 26, even if she did, understanding wouldn’t be useful on the Station. The best thing for both of us would be to keep our heads down, get the ship repaired and head toward Ovigaia before we got tangled up in one of the myriad messes that acted as structural support on Station 26.
On the table, freshly out of storage there were two guns I’d left half-assembled when we’d been traveling through the darkness of the black. I took one last look at the computer, ensuring that our codes were still pending, and set to putting them back together. Dvall would have called taking out a gun a nervous tick. I understood it as therapy. I’d done it enough times that it was a mindless thing to do with my hands while I waited for news or anything else.
The Nurse, a precision rifle from the human military, was an old habit. I hadn’t used the damn thing since Dvall had been on the ship but I’d stipped and cleaned it more than anything else here. It was uniquely meticulous compared to the other human weaponry I owned. Not the kind of thing you brought planetside unless you were hired for an assassination.
Beside the Nurse, there was a Fotuan Overmaster, a gun that I’d never stripped before. I’d gotten my hands on it years ago and it had been a trophy since then. The Fotuan military didn’t provide weapon schematics, seeing as they weren’t part of the GMDA which meant I wasn’t 100% sure how to put the damned thing back together. It wasn’t like I’d been keen to burn the energy on streaming a how-to video when we were in the black.
Instead the arcane workings of something that, in theory, would make complete sense to Victoria sat on the table in front of me.
Most weapons that I owned were built under GMDA regulations, which led to a useful degree of standardization when it came to taking apart and modifying the weapons to break those regulations. I could be sure that the firing chambers used the same dampeners across Anteraxi, Daggeral, Ovishir and Human weapons, alongside some others. Other species had guns that I couldn't even fire, like the Thirik’s bio-electric trggers.
The Fotuans, as far as I could tell, just built things differently to be a pain in the ass.
After poking around for a moment in the outer frame of the gun trying to find the clips I’d undone to open it up in the first place I sighed. “Victoria.”
“Yes,” she said from the back of the ship, having left me alone by the cock-pit.
“Mind coming over and taking a look at this? I can’t quite figure it out.”
“Isn’t this your job?” Victoria asked before walking over to me and looking over my shoulder. “That’s the Fotuan one.”
“Mhm.”
“And-”
“I can’t figure out how this is supposed to clip back in.”
“Then why did you take it apart?”
Curiosity,” I lied. Anxiousness didn’t feel like an answer that would inspire confidence.
“But now-”
“Now it’s broken, yes. How would I put it back?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
“Why would I?” Victoria took a step away from the table, “the first gun I held was back on Mythellion and I’m still- I’m not really eager to grab one again.”
“You might have to at some point.”
“That’s why I hired you,” she pointed out, “I thought the whole point of paying you was so that I didn’t have to do that shit.”
“It is,” I admitted, “but easier said than done considering the scope of the people who want you.”
I heard Victoria got to speak but she never reached the vocal register. We had danced around the topic several times in idle moments already. The simple fact was that she understood that I was in over my head if the Meritocracy legitimately cared about grabbing her. Me not complaining about that made it clear that I wasn’t planning on leaving her anywhere.
Maybe I should have been, but I wasn’t.
Victoria sighed and reached around me to grab half the chassis of the Fotuan gun off the table. She scrutinized the edges of it before reaching a long finger just inside the casing and pressing a hidden switch. A pair of small hooks popped out of the metal. She handed the gun back to me. “My ship had the same switch for panels,” she explained, “not that I did many of my own repairs.”
“Thanks,” I took the gun back and started putting the mechanisms back into the casing piece by piece, after a moment of hesitation there was a rhythm to it. Click. Click. Scan, click.
Victoria stayed by my side for the four minutes it took me to slot everything back together, she didn’t offer commentary, just presence.
It was nice having someone else on the ship again. Even if-
“PHMS Gunboat Diplomat, your landing codes have been approved, please approach docking Charlie-Alpha-Tango for taxi into the Station, welcome to Station 26.”
“Roger,” I answered. Victoria offered me the side eye. “Human,” I offered, explaining how the hell roger meant anything in response to the radio.
“I assume that the dock name is human too?”
“Yeah,” I didn’t know how the phonetic alphabet would translate to non-human languages.
“Station 26 is a human station?” she asked.
“As of recently.”
“As of….” Victoria trailed off as the auto-pilot brought us around the station in a wide orbit, showing us parts of space that had been previously blocked by the sprawling multi-plex that was Station 26. The massive asteroid field hidden behind the station tapped against the shields, but just behind that-
Just behind that was the graveyard.
The back-end of Station 26 was a pile of discarded and burned hulls from every species among the stars. Broken vessels had been stripped for parts, left adrift just outside of window-view from the Station penthouses. Miles upon miles of wreckage came into view as I got into the pilot’s chair and prepared to cede controls to the taxi service.
“What the-” Victoria trailed off again.
“It’s the rim,” I explained, mostly to avoid sending her into a panic spiral before we landed. This wasn’t what most of the rim was like. Myhtellion and other planets like it were sparsely regulated, but there was still regulation there. Station 26 had been abandoned by any legitimate source of government a long time ago. “We’re just going to get in, buy the parts we need, get the repairs, and get out.”
“There are so many ships.”
I glanced over at Victoria and saw her wide eyes. There were a lot of skeletons in Station 26’s closet, and it showed them proudly, but there were places worse than this. Of course I had to keep in mind that she couldn’t have been outside of the Meritocracy for long. They might have had their own skeletons, but they ensured that they jettisoned them into someone else’s space instead of leaving them in the public eye.
“It’s been a long time, try not to think about it too much.”
“What happened?”
“A lot of things to a lot of people,” I half-explained, “can I ask you to follow a few rules when we’re down there?”
Victoria nodded, which was oddly receptive of her.
“No questions to anyone but me. Don’t say you’re on the same team as anyone but me-”
“Okay.”
“If we get separated, don’t use my name. Meet me at the ship.”
“Get separated?”
“We won’t, but it’s good to have a plan.”
“Why wouldn’t I-”
“Fourth, no questions about the other rules.”
“I-”
“Victoria Station 26 has rules. I don’t want you breaking something that you don’t know and getting yourself in trouble.”
“Isn’t that what you’re for?”
“We’re trying to avoid causing another seismic event on the way to Ovigaia and Fotul. Follow. Shut up.”
The taxi pulled up ahead of us, a small ship painted emerald green with gold accents almost acting like circuity. I accepted its signal and it started pulling us toward the docking bay.
“PHMS Gunboat Diplomat we see that you’ve connected to the taxi. Our docking crews will meet you in Charlie-Alpha-Tango to arrange for repair and refuel during your stay. You’re going to be in bay 4743 on floor 7 of the docking bay.”
“Roger.”
“Welcome back Gunboat Diplomat.”

2023.03.29 22:28 smcm5969 World cup POTW Pepe (Review/appreciation post)
| As the title suggests today I am going to write a review on Pepe, one of the greatest Portugal player of all time. Right of the bat, he has been terrific for me. I have used this card for well above 100+ games and he has performed consistently for me in majority of the games. Since he is a CB with the destroyer playstyle I use him at his designated position. He has bit of familiarity at RB but it would be a waste to use him there because his main strength won't be utilized plus not a suitable playing style for that position. I am using him under quick counter as of now! But he is suitable under any playstyle due to the fact he has 90 proficiency in every playstyle department. Now since past many games I paired up this Pepe with my maxed out Base Ramos card and in last few days I replaced that base Ramos with NC Ramos card, And on Bench I have kept maxed out Base Varane. I won't lie I initially paired up him with Ramos out of nostalgia and at first I was skeptical about the in game performance since one is a destroyer and other one is an extra frontman but I have to be say the pair has been so great in game. If you remember I wrote a review on base Ramos where I praised him simply because how big of an improvement he has in the current version of the game compared to PES. This my quick counter team setup. Used him for 104 games as of now. - Pros/cons: I will first start with his good qualities
- His interceptions and tackling in game is phenomenal, I have faced various kinds of forwards and he has fared very good against them. I have rarely seen any of his tackles resulting in fouls. His important stats are all above 85 under full team style proficiency. DA is 88, Defensive engagement is 92, tackling 87, aggression 92, heading 85, jump 89 and physical contact 90.
- Great in air offensively as well as defensively, I have actually appointed him at the set piece section and he has scored quite a few goals via corners.
- Has all the important traits required for his role Man marking, aerial superiority, interception, heading, acrobatic clearance, fighting spirit, man marking and sliding tackle. One thing I have observed is that unlike his other cards he has this extra skill called blocker.
- Decently quick, his speed is 77 and acceleration 71. Yes he is not as fast as Koulibaly but then again his speed is very impressive considering his age. And yes this version of Pepe is fastest version available in the game. No wonder why I haven't faced much issue while playing against quick forwards!
- Godly positioning, his awareness is just class. He is always at the right position at the right time to intercept the passes in most of the cases.
- Unwavering form which is again a very positive thing to have in a player.
- Decent ball playing ability as well his short passing is 71 and lofted pass is 74.
- Playstyle proficiency is 90 all over so yes, you can easily use him under any play style system.
- I literally cannot point out any negative things about this card! The only thing I can say is that his stamina isn't the best which is 71 at max, but to be fair I didn't see that as a big issue either.
Conclusion: Is he the best destroyer CB? Personally for me yes he has been the best destroyer CB I have ever used. He has all the right attributes and solid stats for his playstyle at least for my style of play. Is he the best destroyer CB in general? well that question is pretty tough to answer since people have different opinion and different way of playing the game plus there are other phenomenal cards of same playstyle which I do not own and others do. But if you have this Pepe card and you haven't used him yet then I would recommend you to use him at least for few games like who knows he might perform very good for you. submitted by smcm5969 to pesmobile [link] [comments] |
2023.03.29 22:03 weathers35 What to do with my old 2015 Chevrolet Cruze
I have a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze LT2 with 127k miles. It’s just been problem after problem with it and I’m simply over it. So, I bought a new Toyota Tacoma and planned on getting my Cruze fixed up and private sold for around $7k-8k. The only thing wrong with it (after repairs) is half worn tires and a dent/scrape on the driver side quarter panel that would be somewhere around $3k-4k to repair, but cosmetically, it’s not terrible.
So, I took it to an auto shop and to fix everything on it, and it was right around $1330 which was more than what i was expecting, but with how much was wrong with it, i get it.
Anyways, I start to drive it home to list it and I notice that the AC isn’t blowing cold air. God dammit
Took it back to the shop and it has a blown compressor. Apparently, another $1200-ish dollar fix.
What is my best path forward? Just fix it and eat the extra $1200? Any other suggestions? Anything is appreciated!

2023.03.29 22:03 Squarebody7987 '55 Chevy Michigan gasser.
In 1993 when I was 14 years old, I spotted a very grainy picture of a '55 Chevy in the Michigan auto trader. It was an hour drive from our house, but the description said it was an old race car. I somehow convinced my dad to take me to look it over. On the way up to the mid-Michigan area, I'm sure dad was wondering how he had been duped into driving so far to see a car we obviously weren't going to buy. When we arrived at the seller's house, a very sun faded light yellow '55 sat in the yard. The back end was low, the front was jacked up. It was a legit old gasser. Back then these cars had long since fallen out of favor, and nobody was building new ones in the old style yet.
The front-end was a heavy hand-laid fiberglass flip piece, notched out for carbs or a blower. The frame had been cut at the firewall and someone had fabricated a new front-end out of rectangular tubing that mounted a straight axle via one single Model A-style leaf spring. Everything was done with globby gas welds. The firewall was cut out for 25% engine setback, as was part of the dashboard. The floor was cut for a shifter. There was no engine or transmission. Around back the wheel wells were radiused, and the quarter windows were plastered with ancient speed decals. The car had "Capital City Speed Shop" on it. I later looked into it. Capital City was a real speed shop in the Lansing area.
Underneath the car was a big Oldsmobile or Pontiac rear with big welded-on traction bars. To say the car was rough would be an understatement. In addition to needing significant rust repair, every panel was beat up and the fiberglass nose needed cracks repaired. I remember the seller had spent quite a bit of time making a cover for the set back engine out of scrap tin and about 10,000 pop rivets. He said if the car didn't sell, he was planning to put carpet in it and put it back on the street. I remember thinking it would be a very ambitious project.
Dad and I recognized the car for what it was and half tried to get the guy to dicker on price. He was convinced his 'additions' (the hideous engine cover and sanding the rotted panels down to bare metal in a few places) made it worth much more, so a deal wasn't made. Over the years I've thought about that Chevy often, and wonder what happened to it. My dad passed years ago, and I don't remember where the car was located. Otherwise I'd try to check in on it. I have a hard time believing it was revived for street use (seller had several other cars he was trying to build at the same time) and I hope to god it wasn't restored back to stock or modernized in any way. With the insane popularity of gassers now, I highly doubt it'd still be sitting there in plain view on the back roads of mid Michigan.
Man I wish I had another shot at that car. Rough for sure, but an unbelievably cool piece of Michigan racing history.

We got a first kitty in 2021 which we consider as being hers as she was the one who initiated the process to get the cat and wanted one.
The second kitty we agreed to get together so our first one would have a buddy, got her last year in August. I paid for her and chose her and we consider her mine.
Since the breakup, I've been leaving my cat at my exes most of the time because I didn't want to separate the cats, I wanted my ex to be able to enjoy them both as well and it helped me short term as I was moving out.
My ex is a good and loving person and she takes great care of the cats. I'm very loving towards them also and take good care of them, however I'm always afraid that with my ADHD I'll forget to do stuff (I have an auto feeder, water fountain and litter robot to help)
She asked me recently to keep my cat as she's been taking care of both and got too attached. I understand how she feels but I love my cat (and hers). I also find it difficult to think that I'd be separating the two cats who get along well together.
Currently my cat is with me and she is doing well but I don't know what to do. I want both cats to have happy lives, I want my ex to be happy as well and I'm afraid that with me my cat would be less happy. Based on nothing really except maybe low self esteem these days.
Any opinions are appreciated
