2023.06.06 18:21 Phallus_Maximus69E A critique of Germany's Generation War mini-series.

Premise: Generation War is a blatant whitewash. Whenever Jews are persecuted we see Ucrainian auxiliares doing it and the only Germans will be high-ranking SS walking stereotypes. The Polish are more anti-semites than the angelical Germans and we are always seeing the Germans as unwilling victims of the war. I will quote the Amazon review of the historian Dr. Robert Forczyk:
A Military Critique (3/5 stars) Generation War is the latest in a line of German films attempting to put the experience of the Second World War in perspective for the current generation of Germans. The three-part mini-series is blessed with high-quality production values and a straight-forward plot with multiple story arcs that begin and converge upon the same point. The five characters were intended to convey how the experience of what it meant to be a 20 year-old Berliner in 1941, as the Third Reich was about to invade the Soviet Union. Overall, the mini-series is well worth watching both for historical and drama/entertainment value, although it is not particularly fresh in terms of content and tends to employ stereotypical elements. My critique of the series will mostly focus on the military aspects, in order to provide greater situational awareness to those viewers more interested in Second World War historiography.
The narrator and main protagonist of the mini-series is Oberleutnant Wilhelm Winter, who serves as a motorized infantry platoon leader in Infanterie-Regiment 60 (mot.) in the 16. Infanterie-Division (mot.). It is stated that he previously served in the Polish and French campaigns and is a capable, veteran officer. In the first episode, which covers Wilhelm’s progress during Operation Barbarossa from June – December 1941, the series depicts the initial advance toward Kiev, a small-unit attack on a factory, some partisan activity and a Soviet winter counterattack. Wilhelm’s attitude begins to go south during the Winter battles when it becomes clear that the war will not end in victory. The series failed to really depict the impact of the Russian winter on exposed German troops, particularly widespread illness and frostbite, as well as retreats. In the second episode, the narrative leap-frogs over 1942 (a major mistake in my opinion, since it skips Stalingrad) and lands squarely at the Battle of Kursk in July 1943. Now Wilhelm is mentioned as being in the 292. Infanterie-Division, which was part of the 9. Armee’s attack on the northern part of the Kursk bulge. Amazingly, even after four years of front-line combat service, Wilhelm is still an Oberleutnant – he should at least have been a company commander by this point. Most viewers will probably like the opening attack of Zitadelle, with Wilhelm’s platoon attacking alongside a platoon of Tiger tanks. However, Wilhelm’s platoon is quickly annihilated in a hopelessly one-sided fight at a factory and he walks off, shell-shocked by an explosion. Yet after gathering his wits, Wilhelm opts to remain at an isolated cabin in the woods until rounded up days later by German military police. He is forthwith tried and sentenced to a punishment unit, where he spends 1944-45 until he deserts again and walks back to Berlin in May 1945.
Wilhelm’s character is not particularly fresh or credible and appears similar to Leutnant Hans von Witzland in the earlier German war movie, Stalingrad (1993). Like von Witzland, Wilhelm starts out as a “good soldier” but becomes disillusioned by Nazi brutality and ends up rebelling and ending up in a penal unit. This type of portrayal of front-line German junior officers is very atypical and at odds with numerous extant memoirs, like Gottlob Bidermann’s In Deadly Combat or Wigand Wuster’s An Artilleryman in Stalingrad. Very few German combat officers deserted and it is clear that Wilhelm’s character was designed to show that he rejected the Third Reich. It would have been far more honest – but dangerous for modern audiences – to show that most German officers remained loyal until the end and did their best to win. At no point do we see Wilhelm interested in promotion, awards or recognition, even though that was quite common in a system that heaped praise upon its best warriors. From the beginning, Wilhelm seems rather apathetic.
Throughout the mini-series, Wilhelm’s sidekick is his younger brother Friedholm, who serves as an enlisted soldier in the same platoon. I have never heard of this kind of odd situation in the German Army, particularly early in the war, and think it was only set up this way so that the two could regularly interact. In the first episode, Friedholm is a terrible, apathetic soldier until re-educated by a blanket party. Thenceforth, he becomes a cold-blooded killing machine while his brother moves in the other direction. Taken together, both brothers do not paint a very accurate or flattering portrayal of the German fighting man in the Second World War – apathetic, indecisive and always uncertain. These are not the men who knocked the Red Army back on its heels and reached the Volga. The real German 20 something who served in the Wehrmacht of 1941-43 was a much different character – certain of what they wanted and certain that they had “the right stuff.” It was a generation of over-achievers – pointed in the wrong direction. Most Germans felt victimized by the 1919 Treaty of Versailles and endorsed Hitler’s foreign policy, yet none of these characters sympathize with national objectives. Even Claus von Stauffenburg, who tried to assassinate Hitler, believed that Germany had a right to retake Polish land. In short, the characters in this mini-series are fakes, intended to convince modern audiences that their predecessors back in 1941 didn’t support Nazi goals and only went along unwillingly. This is patently false.
Another military aspect of the mini-series that bothered me was the complete absence of Allied bombing of German cities. In reality, German soldiers on the Eastern Front were always affected when they heard about their home towns being bombed. It was the Allied bombing – which killed over 500,000 Germans and laid waste their cities - which was the definitive experience for the German wartime generation, not the Holocaust. Yet, the series’ producers had to include a German-Jew character, Viktor, as one of the five principals, even though his character was heavily reminiscent of Rudi Weiss, as portrayed in the US miniseries Holocaust (1978). In the end, Generation War is a carefully packaged and sanitized depiction of the war.

Film and TV adaptations of video games have had a tumultuous and checkered history, with the original Super Mario Bros. from 1993 declared among the most disastrous. But off the back of HBO’s critically acclaimed The Last of Us, based on the Playstation/Naughty Dog production and Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an incredible anime series based in the same universe as CD Projekt Red’s story-driven, open-world RPG from 2020; things aren’t looking so bad anymore. However, the trailer for the 2023 Super Mario Bros film certainly got the Nintendo fandom talking, loudly, we might add, about Mario’s new voice. “I totally get it, man,” Pratt told Gizmodo on March 29, 2023. “There’s a passionate fan base and I’m one of the fans. I get it. Mostly, people don’t want something like this to get screwed up. They’re precious about it. They’re careful. And I’m grateful for that.”

In adapting this titular Nintendo character and his universe, Day and Pratt said they have both been huge fans of the IP for years. “My very first memory is the arcade. And then shortly after, probably within six months to a year, the NES came out and we had one in our house and boy, yeah, the rest is history,” Pratt told Gizmodo. “I remember playing Donkey Kong, but I don’t think it was until I owned Super Mario Bros. that I put together that that was Mario and Donkey Kong. That you, kind of, after the fact realized it. But what I remember is my set came with a double [game]. It was both Mario and Zelda. You could play either one and it was great. I played them both as much as I possibly could,” Day said.

Who’s in the Super Mario Bros. Movie movie cast?

Who’s in the Super Mario Bros. Movie cast? It’s a star-studded cast to be sure. In addition to Chris Pratt’s Mario and Charlie Day’s Luigi, here’s who joins the ensemble:

Chris Pratt as Mario: A struggling plumber from Brooklyn, who is accidentally transported to the world of the Mushroom Kingdom and embarks on a quest to save his brother.
Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach: The ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, and Mario’s guide, mentor, and love interest.
Charlie Day as Luigi: Mario’s timid, younger fraternal twin brother and fellow plumber, who is captured by Bowser and his army.
Jack Black as Bowser: A monstrous, fire-breathing spiky-shelled turtle and the king of the Koopas, who rules the Dark Lands, steals the powerful Super Star, and plots to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom.
Keegan-Michael Key as Toad: A mushroom humanoid resident of the Mushroom Kingdom, who aspires to go on his first real adventure.
Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong: A powerful gorilla and heir to the throne of the Jungle Kingdom.
Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong: Donkey Kong’s father, who rules the Jungle Kingdom and leads the Kong Army.
Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike: Mario and Luigi’s former boss from the Wrecking Crew.
Charles Martinet, who voices Mario and Luigi in the Mario games, makes cameo appearances throughout the film.
Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek: A Koopa sorcerer and Bowser’s advisor and informant.
As mentioned, there was a pretty significant backlash to Pratt’s casting in the beginning. “There were certainly discussions of how best to voice the character,” Pratt told Yahoo Entertainment. “We tried a lot of different things and ultimately settled on the voice that you hear when you watch the movie. I’m really happy with it, and I think people are gonna really enjoy it.”

In the video games, voice actor Charles Martinet has provided the “Woo-hoos!” for Mario and his brother Luigi and fans will be pleased he makes cameos as several characters in the 2023 film, including Mario and Luigi’s father. Pratt said his inspiration for the voice of Mario was based on a few of his favorite Brooklyn people, though he fell short of naming who. “I had a few [actors] I was aiming at, but if I say them out loud, it could potentially affect people’s ability to watch the performance,” Pratt said. “So, I won’t say it, but I had a signpost.”

2023.06.06 18:12 Hydqjuliilq27 Coaches, Managers and Supporters Popularity Poll (Round 1)

Ok, I hope you all find this one interesting, I know I will since this won’t be as easy to predict as the player polls. We’ve got 20 supporting characters from throughout the series, as always vote for your LEAST favorite, character with most votes is eliminated, the character who lasts all 19 rounds goes to the All-Star poll with the previous winners. Have fun!
Disclaimer: When I posted the last results two days ago I made a comment asking about people’s opinions on this poll’s roster, but I’m now realizing it didn’t show up for everyone else for some reason. I did my best to include supporting characters who I thought were prominent, appeared frequently, or made noticeable impacts on the story and leave out ones with to little characterization or screentime. If I left out a character you like, it was for a reason and I wanted to keep the poll concise.

2023.06.06 18:09 Hefty_Helicopter7794 Demoted the king and was ready for more.

- Apologies for my grammar, English is not my native language.
- And vague about company shizzle and longer than I anticipated, so grab a coffee, thee or other liquids.
- During this process I also informed my lawyer about the situation and just kept asking for all the damaging (for my future boss) emails.
- And also, without my SO I would have quit a long time ago, but with very expensive consequences.
First week of 2023 I started with my new job for bus driver, the company gave the chance for me to get my bus driver’s license and I would at least work for 3 years and after those 3 years I could go my own way if I wanted to.
I started with 5 others, we helped each other, had 3 - 4 exams, during that time I purchased a online program to get more practice test for the exams. Well, I went through those tests at all the first attempts (thank god, because I definitely underestimated it). I shared my account and it helped and eventually everyone got through the first phase (January) . During the first phase we had several instructors, and our main instructor “AH” (fake name XD) was…. Well to keep it civil, not nice and behaved like a king.
Then we got to the driving lessons Phase two (February)……. AH was thankfully not my driving instructor I got a colleague of him, and they were close “C”. At first nothing was wrong, first-time jitters, I was too careful at first but that was to be expected because a bus can cause a disaster when not handled properly.
Unfortunately, after my second lesson there was a dead in the family that hit harder than I expected, so I called for that lesson to be rescheduled, no problem and done. And I thought I was done for that day. Some crying and happy movies and being there for my SO, because it was his uncle.
Well just a few hours later I received an e-mail for a meeting, about my progress and future job. I wrote a email about the dead and that I didn’t know when the funeral was etc. I was able to go to the meeting.
Yeah, the meeting…. (With assistant manager (AM) and HR dude) Well first I was late apparently for 10 minutes, I read the wrong time so that sucked. Got a lecture about time, time time, Jada Jada (I think it was my 3rd time through my whole life I was late, my second time was cause of someone jumped in front of my train) I prefer to be awfully early. But anyways back to the meeting, I informed them again that I had a dead in the family and was still in mourning (they also received that email, and it was like the heard it for the first time). I asked them if that is the reason for this meeting, because it was only a few hours after I called my lesson off.
They said no it was of some complaints….. I said oke, what kind of complaints because nobody spoken to me about it. Well, you remember AH? He made a list(just him). I’m overweight and working on it everyone knows it and sees it.... everyone knows I can have 1 night I can eat a favorite dish without counting anything. I shared that I had a pizza (this was the day before an exam, so studying and I was home alone and not in the mood for cooking), because they know. …. It was a disgrace I had a pizza, your are not being “vital”blah bla blah” a whole speech I really think he looked something up to say “And that even they could eat an WHOLE pizza”….. we have pizza’s from 20 to I think 50 cm here, 20 cm is not big, it’s the size of a supermarket pizza maybe smaller.
- So the first complaint was I ate a pizza.
- Second complaint: I do not have respect for the instructors. Gob smacked……
- The third complaint struck hard on my integrity, because I want to help people, I’m doing it all my life. The complaint was, I made it for my fellow future colleagues a living hell. This was the moment I was MEGA gob smacked…. I literally didn’t know how to react.
After a couple of seconds, I just stared to ask questions( and ugly crying unfortunately not my best moment), who and why, because I was a month in and nobody told me, and AH had said in the mail that the others where to scarred to talk to me….? I’m not a bogeywoman, for some reason I always end up as the “caring mom” in the group. And some point I just blatantly asked if it was AH that made the complaints… and they couldn’t say that, but I knew enough.
After al that shit and me still crying 1 of them gave his opinion about me but tried to form it as a question. “You don’t give me the feeling of being happy with this job” . I just looked at him, I’m not driving the bus on this moment (my brain added, or you would probably be dead right now, thank god my anger could keep that on the inside). That was the end of that meeting.
I went crying home and a hour later I had my driving lesson again. I had told C that I had that meeting and she asked about it and I just went right back into ugly crying. She was shocked and angry, what the hell were they thinking…. From what it looked like she was ready to kick someone in the A. (unfortunately I found out later she was the one who told about something What AH saw a no respect to the instructors, the part about being to careful, I was saying yeah but.. those bikers or I don’t know what that car was going to do, etc.) This was common for everyone in the first days of driving lessons in a bus, so she felt guilty to me and angry to AH.
I couldn’t lose that feeling it kept bugging me and I had good contact with my fellow colleagues, so I tried the casually ask about it and that opened some doors. Everyone knew about it but didn’t know it was me…... well now they knew and were pissed, because I helped them. And found out that I wasn’t the only one who wanted nothing to do with “AH”. Even got info from groups who started a month earlier and made complaints about him.
The Revenge:
So I called the “education department” because I wanted it in writing that I don’t have the see his ass anymore. And OMG, apparently, they had heard about my “meeting” and they actually called all the other instructors I had for the first phase and they didn’t recognize me in those complaints… hallelujah! And mister AH had 8 to 9 complaints on his name from 8 to 9 different people (mostly women).
This was the moment I was going for mutual destruction, I already had a “bad name” because of AH so what the hell…! Only problem I had to keep in mind that I don’t do anything crazy that they could use for me getting fired, or otherwise I would have to pay everything back. So I needed to be careful.
So just keeping my cool started to talk to the other instructors and they also found out about all the complaints and also didn’t know it was me. Found out that ALL THE INSTRUCTORS (exept for C) hate AH, his way for instructing was years 60/70 style, he had the gall to say to 1 of his students to hit him with an iron pointer(a telescopic thing and point at something) if that student would do something again he didn’t like. But that was just 1 of the stories I heard. And started to encourage other people who had problems with AH to make a complaint as well at the education department.
The only thing I knew is that I wouldn’t get him for my driving exams and after more an more complaint kept coming in he was never scheduled for an exam again, nobody wanted him. Some of the higher ups wanted to contact me for the story, they were free and had my number. Never heard from them again.
First time of my driving exam I flunked, because before I had the exam AH had the nerv to come by and “wish me luck” (this was the moment that I started to think I definitely need therapy, but I was stubborn), so failed that day. Called to complain again to the education department Second time 2 week later I passed thank God and no AH before my exam. So, phase 2(first week March) was done.
Now was the moment for my transfer to my location of work, because of being short staffed it took longer, and at some point, I knew I needed help because I couldn’t digest the meeting that I had in February. So I wanted someone to talk to in this country we have laws, and you can ask for an inhouse doctor or a confidant. No question asked, because a inhouse doctor needs to evaluate if it is necessary. And they denied through email, BINGO. Later I got a email for signing my contract and talking about why I need to see a inhouse doctor, BINGO again, we have LAWS they cant ask for medical information.
My lawyer on this moment was happy with just this evidence. But I still wanted to work as a bus driver. So I went for my contract and they(not the same people from my first meeting, they just heard the “beautiful parts”) asked, how did it al go. And the stupid AH I am by not going to therapy, I broke down and threw everything on the table. The AH, not checking if he was right, all the other complaints, etc.
Even the part about my lawyer, that I wanted advice “how to handle the situation”. Now they were gob smacked and silent for a few minutes, while I was in full ugly cry. They asked questions, how and why, etc. Eventually I asked, Why do you think you know better then my lifestyle coach, personal trainer or dietician? Because HR dude knew about it, I was upfront about it and he still hired me. Silent again, this was the moment the manager asked if he could be excused. After this it went fast, they were gonna fix the contract signed it a week later.
After this, I called my therapist for an appointment and some EMDR. And now writing this I’m just thinking why the hell didn’t I go sooner, but that’s afterwards and can’t change that anymore.
When I wanted to sign the contract is heard from colleagues that AH was fired as an instructor and demoted to bus driver, because apparently he wasn’t fit to be a instructor. I was in full happy clapping happiness, I couldn’t reep the benefits anymore but the future bus drivers could, so that’s 1 was going in my head, ready for number 2, mister AM.
Started my mentoring(half of April), I drove on the work schedule of a bus driver, to learn the routes or how to work the system, etc. My mentor was awesome and bored, not in personality but he didn’t have to do much, sometimes I would ask “I need to turn left here if I’m correct?” so usually just a yes or a no would suffice. After a few days, my mentor said that my new AM wanted a meeting, probably that you can drive solo now. I needed 1 instruction day for some bus lines that I didn’t know, but could be handled in 1 day, because I was a quick study.
I went to the meeting (the beginning of May)and got fired, gob smacked again, only complements no complaints, because they found out that AH complaints were bogus. At first they said it was my behavior, so I asked “what behavior?” and then they switched to not being a match. But I think its damage control because I don’t have to pay for my driver’s license.
And I signed a contract that only in death I don’t have to pay for my driver’s license, and not death! Hahaha
But now a month later my mentor helped me to get a job interview for Thursday, a few towns over, so I think I’m going to be fine, it is in my old hometown plus point to that. And can’t wait to drive through the open country!
Thank you for reading!!

2023.06.06 18:08 Ailamiona Why do the people I play with have to be so insufferable?

In addition to the toxic, egotistical & insecure K. Rool that I've already ranted about in this sub before, I have to deal with this abhorrent Steve and Pac-Man main. For this post I'll call him Bibblybeebly, referencing that goofy-named unused variable in Undertale.
Bibblybeebly loves sitting at the ledge and mining to diamond/throwing key whenever I land for the entire game and minecarts and spams lava brick/diamond forward smash OOS/double jumps into hydrant and forward smashes it whenever anybody gets close. And yet, Bibblybeebly is always real quick to cheese an anvil/hydrant/minecart edgeguard whenever anybody is on his side of the stage so he can continue playing like a parasite the entire game. Only when the entire lobby present unanimously calls Bibblybeebly out for having 3 stocks when everyone else has 2 or 1, does he lose a stock.
We don't do this to anyone else, by the way; because we play normal characters and regularly lose stocks in the 3-man FFA with key and minecart hazards on. When we let Bibblybeebly do what he wants, he usually wins because he plays Steve at 3 stocks vs the Ganondorf struggling the entire game at 1 (and even THEN the Ganon sometimes massively turns the game around and outplays the fuck out of him, goes to show the average skill level of Steve players). It's not even in a ceremonious way, either. We just stay silent because we all know exactly what he did that match and if we make our thoughts public, he will literally get so mad that he spikes his own controller on the table and acts incredibly irrational online the entire day afterwards (and yet Bibblybeebly keeps asking to use my GameCube wireless controller, to which I always decline and somehow he keeps wondering why).
One time there was an incident where Bibblybeebly was so heated after getting instantly killed by my Sora counter after he used his predictable minecart-when-someone-approaches tactic, he sent a picture of himself leaving us to actual strangers on Discord, with a very identifiable poster in the background. He doxxed 3 people over getting killed in Smash Ultimate. He didn't even lose the match, either; he just fucking left and doxxed everybody because I killed him at 35% when he had 2 stocks left. I swear I'm not making this shit up.
Every time Bibblybeebly loses a stock because he's mining or charging for key at ledge and isn't actually participating in the FFA, he keeps saying I'm targeting him. He straight up stares at me for several seconds whenever he picks any character for some inexplicable reason. He plays every character in the worst goddamn way possible. Spams Tjolt and Thunder as Pikachu. Spams Alolan Whip as Incineroar. Spams Burrow Wave as Terry. Spams specials with Pyra, Sephiroth, Hero, Cloud, any Link, any Mii, any Fire Emblem character (except Byleth because that character actually has normal specials) and K. Rool. He openly offers to give anybody who happens to be playing Incineroar, Ness or Lucas stacks of Revenge/PSI Magnet heals in exchange for them allowing him to camp at ledge (to which nobody accepts because we actually like playing the game yet he keeps begging for wins anyways).
Every time I die, Bibblybeebly always exclaims "HOW DID YOU DIE?!?!?", "THAT KILLS??!!?", "HUUUHHH???", "HOW ARE YOU AT 60% ALREADY?!?!" "WHY IS Ailamiona AT ONE STOCK?!?!" when I'm playing Ice Climbers in FFA. It's like playing against a Mii with high-pitched voices turned on. He always spouts some random fucking question whenever I die that he already knows the answer to. Not anybody else, specifically me, because he thinks I'm the best player in their group. To which I am, but the other players are actually skilled Pokemon Trainer, Corrin and Ganon mains that are only very marginally worse than me and keep getting better with every gameplay tip I give and each casual 1v1 I have with them... the difference in skill isn't that huge, Bibblybeebly. You just wouldn't know because you're bad at the game.
I really should stop playing with this guy.

2023.06.06 18:07 iluvvvyou Type me please :)

I’m curious as to what you guys think, and it’s Tuesday and I’m bored so why not!
How do you respond when a new acquaintance says, "tell me about yourself."
Hi! Tbh, when first meeting someone I'd like them to talk more about themself.
Now, tell me about your internal experience of yourself. What makes you, you?
Everything! My optimism, my joie de vivre, my ambition, my big dreams, my ability to see the beauty in everyone/everything.
You just had a really good day. Describe it. It can be a real recent example or an aspirational one.
Feeling free, feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my face. Feeling like I can appreciate every thing in the world. Going on a shopping spree and finding *exactly* what I want. Being around people who make me laugh until my face hurts. 🥹
If someone is upset with you, what is the typical reason for it? Give a recent example.
Skirting my responsibilities. Being angry and argumentative. Being too loud.
How well do you handle stress? What are your coping mechanisms? Give an example of a recent stressful situation and how you handled it.
If it's a stressful situation (that needs handling) where the people around me are stressed, I try my best to solve and diffuse the problem and comfort people. If I myself am stressed I either:
-Reassure myself that it will be ok and remind myself that I am capable
-If I really really can't seem to fix the problem I get really impatient/frustrated that nothing is working and blame the people around me
-If it's something I know I can't fully control I distract myself with music or something else I enjoy. Life's too short to stress all the time
What pushes your buttons? What makes you angry? How does your anger manifest? Can you be openly angry with others?
I'm impatient, and that's what usually leads to my anger. I get angry when people speak down to me or try and help me without me asking for help first. I’m fine being openly angry with people, mostly my family. I don’t usually find the need to be angry at specific people though
What’s your deepest fear? Why is that your fear?
This is silly but I fear being sad and bitter and ugly (internally and externally) all the time. Like I'll grow older and just simply not be as happy as I am right now. I also fear that my future won't live up to my expectations. Being in prison. Being in constant debt to someone in some way. Nobody ever finding me attractive, not so much because I need a partner but more so because I would like to be ‘sought after’ lol
What types of memories cause you the most shame? What feelings cause you the most shame? What is it about them that causes you shame?
Hmm. Idk, I've done loads of embarrassing things and made my fair share of mistakes, but most of the time I don't bother feeling shameful of memories. It's in the past, it's already gone and done.
What is your relationship with pleasure? What gives you pleasure? Can you have pleasure when you want it, or do you have to earn it?
If I can find a way to get pleasure then I‘ll get pleasure, I don't need to earn it. There are a million things that make me happy so pleasure is easy enough to find. Although sometimes I will stop myself from buying something/eating something/doing something fun just so that I have more money/stuff to use to have fun later
What’s your relationship with authority? Think both abstractly and with specific authorities in your life, possibly your parents, boss, religious leader, doctor, or government figures? Are you an authority?
I don't mind being told what to do, if it benefits me. I don't mind breaking the rules, but not just for the sake of breaking them. I'm an authority in my own life, but not an authority over anyone else.
When your mind wanders, what are you thinking about?
My future, I like to imagine it vividly. Sometimes I don’t really think about anything at all
You have a big decision to make. Describe how you decide what to do.
I don't have much trouble making my own decisions, I usually know exactly what I want and what will get me what I want in the future. If I don't then chances are I would enjoy both options. No decisions require commitment forever, so technically I'll always be flexible, which makes decisions easier.
What’s your biggest flaw?
I'm shallow and selfish. I tell too many white lies.
What makes you special? (Or, if you don't feel special, what at least makes you different from other people?)
Hmm. Well we’re all special. But I guess maybe my fashion sense/style.
How much of your mental energy is spent on thinking about each of the past, the present, and the future?
50% future, 50% present, and 0% past (well maybe 0.5% lol)
You unexpectedly find yourself with a whole weekend with no obligations, and everyone else is busy. How do you feel about it? What do you do?
Not an introvert, I do like to be around other people, but I know how to have fun by myself! I'd play my music real loud and just fucking dance. And then watch a movie. After one day I'd get a bit lonely, but I think it'd be pretty great.
What’s your personal vibe/style/aesthetic? How cultivated vs natural is it, and how much time do you spend on it? Do you turn it on and off?
I like to seem happy and carefree. In terms of fashion, I spend a lot of time curating that. I do have to turn my vibe on and off, because I have an ‘unpleasant’ resting face. So I have to consciously make myself look happier and stand up straighter etc etc. I’ll also turn off my vibe if I’m around someone I don’t want to interact with, or turn on the vibe if I’m around someone I’m interested in in some way
Which of the following is the most like you? Explain. A) I know what I want, I go out and make it happen, and people won't stop me. B) I am content to be on my own and not draw too much attention to myself. C) I have to be responsible and dedicated, and I put others’ needs first.
Which of the following is most like you? Explain. A) I dislike stress and negative vibes, and I may try to distract myself from my problems. B) I have strong feelings, get worked up easily, and am not afraid to show it. C) I don’t like to let my feelings show; they get in the way of being efficient and logical.
Ooh this is tricky. Definitely A first. Then B with a mix of C, even though those kinda contradict
Which of the following is most like you? Explain. A) I look to others for feedback and guidance and am willing to be flexible when needed. B) I am always aware of how things could be better, and I’m disappointed that they are not. C) Deep down, I am afraid people won’t give me what I need unless I make it worth their while.
Thanks for reading if you got this far lol :) Any ideas are greatly appreciated

2023.06.06 18:00 ElJotaJotaJota Playing micros online

I've been studying a lot about poker theory. I'm trying to play tournies with ABI of 2$~3$ on GG/PS and this shit is literally impossible... every tournament has 14893 entries and it feels like you have to win 42 flips in a row to get to the final table. A LOT of times i get it in good, ahead, and lose to nonsense because in a large enough sample it will always happen. What is the best strategy in your opinions? As someone who knows the game theory, is it better to play "not so famous" sites, with tournaments with MUCH smaller prizes, but also a lot less variance (with 200~500 entries)? Anyone went through this? The idea went through my head after i started playing omaha tournaments. They have a lot less people playing and i have absurd ROI, regularly hitting ITM/FTs (even won one) in fields of 200 players without any specific study about omaha.

2023.06.06 17:54 Acrobatic_Income_494 I (19m) don’t know what to do after I found out the girl (19f) I have feelings for is interested in someone else.

Some context first: I’ve known this girl since kindergarten, we went to the same elementary, junior high, and high school together, and now the same university
We started talking about a month and a half ago, and around a week or so later is when i started developing feelings.
Speed up to now, We have a lot in common: music, tv shows, movies, ideologies, and even just in the way we think about things.
Her ex left her around 3 months ago and I didn’t want to rush her into a relationship, but now she just mentioned about how she saw this cute guy today and I don’t know what to do.
TL;DR Should I just tell her how I feel and hope for the best? I’m worried I might ruin the friendship we already have.

2023.06.06 17:53 notaraan 23M - looking for someone to be there daily

Hey there, I know that there are some cool people out there on Reddit, so go ahead and shoot me a dm. I`d love to hear from you.
A few hobbies of mine include photography & music. I’m not really sure how to elaborate further on that; I do enjoy taking pictures of anything I find pretty and well my taste in music spans various different genres, which include: indie, edm, pop, kpop, jrock, random movie soundtracks & classical but I am always looking to expand my tastes and discover new music. I do want to learn to play the piano too someday (hopefully sometime soon). Shoot me a few recommendations, I’d love to check em out! Oh, I also love trying out foods from cultures around the world and learning about said cultures so if you live abroad or if you like learning about other cultures yourself: bonus points.
Oh, and ideally this would be a long-term sort of thing, I’m open to getting to know someone else entirely and vice versa. That means that I’d love to share not only our accomplishments but also our failures with each other and hopefully we’d feel comfortable enough to help each other through them. But of course, let’s not force anything if we don’t bond. Finally, I do prefer guys who are my age or older because I just seem to bond more with people who know a little bit more of where they’re going in life (it helps me motivate myself). Open to chatting on discord (love sending audio messages) Hope to chat with some of yall :)

2023.06.06 17:46 ChubbyBulbasaur How to encourage selecting the best players during Immortal Draft?

Let me preface this by saying I am nowhere near immortal, but I like watching DOTA streams. So when I read the patch notes about Immortal Draft, I was excited. Maybe we’d finally see whether it’s better to pick the Rank 60 support or the Rank 20 carry in a game where there’s mostly core players? Then drafting players might become a legitimate skill in pub games.
But, alas no. The high ranked streamers I watch are often chosen as the captain, proceed to pick the lowest MMR players available, and then complain all game long that their teammates are terrible.
Like what did you expect when you’re rank 2 and deliberately pick rank 500s instead of the rank 50 player that was available?
Now, we all know why they do this: You lose less MMR when you lose and you gain more MMR when you win. But man does it feel stupid.
That said, I’d like to discuss ways to encourage captains to actually pick the “best” players available first.
Here’s a couple potential suggestions: 1. Calculate the rating difference based on the highest MMR player available at the time you picked. So if there was a 10k player available and you picked the 6k player, that’s on you. 2. Add a flat 10 MMR to the amount gained or lost when you’re captain. I goes a bit against Glicko, but it’d promote actually thinking during the player picking phase. 3. Make the variation in MMR gained or lost per game significantly smaller. No more +40/-10. Maybe have a max of +30/-20 instead.
For the sake of this discussion I’d like to focus on strict solo queue, though I understand that parties are another complicating factor.

2023.06.06 17:45 frontrunnerxyz Hi, I’m Neil, Cofounder of Frontrunner, where we’re trying to make sports betting as fun, fair, and easy as possible by allowing everyone to bet against each other, create their own odds and learn how to make profitable bets on our FREE-TO-PLAY app. You can earn real money rewards as you learn.

Hi, I’m Neil, Cofounder of Frontrunner, where we’re trying to make sports betting as fun, fair, and easy as possible by allowing everyone to bet against each other, create their own odds and learn how to make profitable bets on our FREE-TO-PLAY app. You can earn real money rewards as you learn.
Hey Reddit!
My name is Neil, Cofounder & CEO of Frontrunner. Making your first sports bet can be daunting. With weird odds like +250 or abbreviations like SGP (same game parlay), it’s hard to know where to start, and even more so, what’s a GOOD bet. At Frontrunner, we’ve built a FREE-TO-PLAY way to learn and practice making bets where you can earn real money rewards! We feel it makes the sports experiences we all love more fun.
Practice placing bets on our FREE-TO-PLAY app

Are you a sports betting beginner? We're here to help.

Whether you’re a fan of all sports or only follow a specific team or player, Frontrunner helps take your fandom to the next level. Frontrunner is the best, first place to take your knowledge and start putting money on it with both fake (for practice & rewards) and real money.
So how can we help? First off, we’re FREE-TO-PLAY so you can practice free sports betting as much as you want on real, live games without fear of losing money. Next, we simplified the odds, making them more transparent and easier to understand. If Team A (90%) vs Team B (10%) are playing each other, Team A has a 90% chance of beating Team B. Simple, right? Once you select your team, making a wagebet is super easy. You can also practice setting your own odds and learn how to maximize your profits. Lastly, the more you practice, the more real money rewards you get which you can transfer and use on the Frontrunner real money app and take your fun to the next level!
How to place your bet on Frontrunner.

Already know how to bet on sports? Awesome!

Look, many of us at Frontrunner also continue to use traditional sportsbooks because there is something fun about the possibility of hitting a 6-leg parlay. We also know it’s like playing the lottery: exciting, but you usually lose. Sportsbooks also know this. These are businesses designed with the sole purpose of reliably taking your money, and their emphasis on parlays reflects this. It’s a rigged game in their favor, and over time, they ALWAYS win.
This is a list of more ways in which your sportsbook is unfairly profiting off of you:
  1. Betting Margins: Traditional sportsbooks set odds with a built-in advantage (vig/juice/house edge), giving you a worse chance of winning. Imagine if you could only bet on "Heads" in a coin toss at 55% odds. Not very fair. This is how the “house always wins”.
  2. Confusing Odds: Sportsbooks display odds differently depending on where you live. In the US, you have American odds (like +110 and -250). In Britain, you have fractional odds (like 5-1 or 28/6). In most of the rest of the world, you have decimal odds (like 4.00 or 1.3). All of these formats make it more difficult to learn, understand, and compare odds, causing bettors to make worse decisions and mistakes.
  3. Poor Value: most traditional sportsbooks today have cash out options for your bets, which you can use to recoup a portion of your bet value. If your bet is doing well, you can take profits, or if your bet is down, you can get some value back before you lose it all. Don’t be fooled. The cash out option is a SCAM. Sportsbooks NEVER give fair value on your bet when you cash out.
  4. Downtime: sportsbooks often turn betting off in order to re-calculate odds in their favor, causing bettors to miss crucial moments where they stand to capitalize and profit.
  5. Unfair Practices: successful bettors always get flagged by sportsbooks and ultimately removed from being able to use their platforms, a type of discrimination that is being battled out in the courts and through government regulation.
With that in mind, Frontrunner is the first-ever sports prediction app that believes in fair sports betting, and so we built a place where you can make bets against everyone else and there is no “house edge”. This means that you can use your knowledge and set your own odds against people, not the house. We set out to make Frontrunner a place to make more profitable bets more easily using your expertise. You can even try it out with our FREE-TO-PLAY version.
Here are other ways we’ve improved the experience:
  1. No House: remember, you’re not betting against a bookmaker trying to take your money, you’re betting against other players. As long as there is someone out there who will take the odds, you have a bet on your hands. No house = no house edge.
  2. Simplified Odds & Easy Calculations: we give a % probability (implied probability) for outcomes. Take for example, Boston Red Sox 66% vs New York Yankees 36%. You know based on these odds that the market believes the Red Sox are favored to win with a 66% chance. It’s even easy to calculate your payout: your payout = wager / odds, so if you wager $20 on 50% odds you get a payout of $20 / 0.5 = $40. Yay! You doubled your money.
  3. Fair Cash Outs: you can buy & sell (cash out) at any time with enough liquidity on Frontrunner, and unlike with sportsbooks, you can do so at fair market value.
  4. Always Live: whereas traditional sportsbooks hamstring bettors by closing live markets until they can set new odds in their favor, Frontrunner markets are always live. There’s always a market available for you to buy or sell a bet.
  5. No Limits: you can wager however much you want on Frontrunner, and no matter how much you wager or win, you always have a place here. We will never discriminate against you for being successful.
On top of fairness, Frontrunner is also all about making sports betting more fun and social.
  1. Sports bettors of all types and experience can compete on a leaderboard through daily challenges and earn real money rewards. No matter how skilled you are, there is something for everyone.
  2. Coming soon, we’re building new social features that will let you create groups with friends and organize leagues and contests for even more fun.
Let us know in the comments section if you want to hear more about our real money version and how to get started there.
Set your own odds, cash out anytime, and compete with others.

Get $25 in free real-money bets just for downloading and signing up on the Free-to-play app.

Compete in daily challenges to unlock streaks and gain Frontrunner points. You can convert those Frontrunner points into real money to be used in the real money version.
Complete challenges, build streaks, and earn real money rewards.
If you enjoy the experience, we have a referral program where you can earn $5 for each referral (25 trades required) for the first 5 referrals and $10 for the next 5 referrals.
Refer your friends and win real prizes.

Making sports betting easy, fair, and fun!

Whether you’re a sharp bettor or a sports fan who has never placed a bet, Frontrunner’s here for you. We believe that a sports fan's experience is only enhanced through using your expertise and knowledge to make wagers on teams and players. We also believe that making your first wager should be easy and require 0 risks. That’s where our FREE-TO-PLAY app comes in. Play, learn, practice, gain real money rewards, and make your first bet on us.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and stopping by!

2023.06.06 17:45 compound-interest Now that every company has played their hand, here are my predictions where each new headset will fall into the market

Right now, I am daily driving 2 headsets: G2 and PSVR2. I own a Quest 2, CV1, Go, and the last 2 GearVRs.
Here is my opinion of who each upcoming headset is for:
Quest 3 - Fans of Quest 2 that want an upgrade. I think I will recommend people see if VR is for them with a Quest 2 first. Since they are dropping Quest 2 back to $299, I think used ones will be down to $199. Maybe Walmart will have the refirb black Friday sale again for like $199-249.
I expect Quest 3 pancake lenses will be a nice clarity bump, and I think the upgrade is worth $200 more, but some people buy VR and stuff it in a closet forever. In summary, Quest 3 is a reasonable upgrade for people who have tried and love standalone VR, and don't want to get a PC, or deal with a wire. Wireless PC gaming is valid, but I am personally not a fan of the compression.
I really don't mind the wire, and that's why I haven't used Quest 2 since December when I got my G2. It will be interesting to compare Quest 3 large sweet spot of clarity to G2. I expect the G2 to still be an overall better package for PCVR. Imo this comparison is still important, because we need to know the best PCVR headset around $500 USD. I am going to be really surprised if Quest 3 exceeds G2, because what I have heard about Quest Pro doesn't (I haven't tried Quest Pro so I can't speak to that).
The G2 still holds a candle to the Beyond according to recent through the lens comparisons, which still makes it the go-to entry level PCVR headset for at least another year or so imo. I haven't really heard of a PCVR headset coming that's going to cost around the price of Quest 2. It's a shame that Meta refuses to sell a SKU of Quest 3 with uncompressed Link at higher margin to the 20% of their users that use SteamVR, but I digress.
Bigscreen Beyond - PCVR enthusiasts that want a headset specifically made for maximum comfort, clarity, and compatible with the best tracking system available for VR. One thing I really like about Beyond is that they are taking their disadvantage of being a small company and turning it into an advantage. What I mean by that is I think they are actually making a product that a huge company like Meta couldn't make. I don't think Meta can reasonably sell a headset right now with a custom facial interface. It would be a nightmare to try to ship 20 million Quests all with a different facial interface. The custom interface will make a huge difference.
Not only that, but the yields and price of oled micro displays are not ready for a product with Quest sales volume. Meta are constrained by battery, mobile processing, etc that all add weight to the device. It will be a very long time before they can make a device as small and compelling as Beyond in a standalone form factor, with enough scale for it to make sense for them. All those sacrifices just to avoid a wire and the need for a PC.
If I could make an analogy, there is a director named Matt Johnson that turns his independent films into an advantage rather than a disadvantage. He knows big movie studios can't make films with the crazy plots he comes up with so rather than trying to do what the big guys do but worse, he makes stuff that only small directors can make. Bigscreen is essentially doing that, but for VR headsets.
Bigscreen's headset is literally right at the edge of the current display port standard, which is why the full resolution requires display stream compression at 90hz. All that and in a tiny form factor with pancake lenses? I just think they are making all the right decisions. I'm not trying to shill for them, but this is the first time since CV1 that I feel like one company is making the exact headset I want.
Apple Vision Pro - Developers and professionals with a very specific niche use-case. This is a first generation headset that Apple feels meets their minimum bar. I think this headset will have 2 positive effects on the market as a whole:
  1. Supply chain. I think their demand for the components in this headsets will cause more attention to be brought to manufacturing various components. Off-the-shelf parts will become bettecheaper sooner than they would have without Apple's entry.
  2. Public perception. VR will become slightly more accepted and normalized than it was before. This may also lead to more companies testing the water of VR hardware, especially if Google gets their shit together and makes a platform that hardware venders can take advantage of. Kinda like WMR but standalone. It would be pretty cash money if one of those chose to make a headset that actually tethers to a PC like the Pico 3 Link did...
One thing I have noticed about various communities online is people have trouble imagining the use-case that others might have. I used to get downvoted for enjoying Go so much when it came out. Sometimes I take it out and am just amazed at how inexpensive and compelling it was. I used to hang out in Bigscreen almost like VRC and just chat with others about movies and shit. It was a surprisingly good experience for the price because of how lightweight it was.
The Apple headset is in the opposite side of the price spectrum, but still has the issue of not fitting into what most people currently using VR want. If you can't imagine a use case for it, it's not for you. If reviews come out and it is genuinely a great professional tool that does a few things better than any other professional hardware, I am thrilled about that. I hope that happens, because then instead of a 3-4k laptop, my work can get me one of these. I could see the Apple Vision Pro being excellent for certain design applications, certain video workloads, and certain modeling workflows. I will wait for reviews on it, and I find it to be an interesting market entry.
Finally, I am interested to see if all this new hardware makes a dent on the open web. That's a whole separate discussion, but I think it's interesting to imagine the future of the web if the headsets have enough clarity that a ton of people use it that way.

2023.06.06 17:43 Steppyjim Weaponizing the cap: Who should the flyers try to trade for this off-season?

That’s right baby. Doomers, boomers, and rebuild-too-Sooners it’s time to tak about guys the flyers should target to be on their team in 2023-24. This thought experiment I’m on was inspired by an athletic article I read this morning about potential buyout candidates for nhl teams. Considering the flyers are gonna look to take on some bad contracts for assets, I decided to weigh in on who I think would be prime candidates to be in orange and black next year.
A few caveats before we get started. The flyers are projected roughly 7mil in cap space according to capfriendly. I’ll add another 3 mil for a potential post Kevin Hayes deal to assume the flyers will be working with around 10 mil. That’s clearly not accurate and will obviously fluctuate as guys sign or get moved away, but it’s more about trying to fit these contracts on then having exact numbers atm. Brieres job is to cap wrangle. The point is, all these potentially can work. Also, none of these guys are stars. Obviously. You’re taking on crap contracts. So if you’re gonna hit me with “you idiot. So and so sucks/is old/doesn’t fit the rebuild then let me say now. I know. That’s the point.
So without further ado, let’s start with the guy I think the flyers should target the most:
KAILER YAMAMOTO EDM - RW - 1 year left before RFA, 3.1 mil
If the flyers really want to maximize a player, they should absolutely target Yamamoto. He had an awful year last year, but scored 20 goals just the year prior. He’s 24, same age as Tippett, and unlike several guys I’m typing up here, he actually could potentially be a piece of a rebuild. The oilers are desperate for cap relief, and acquiring him wouldn’t cost much of anything (according to the athletic). The flyers at worst get a guy on the books for one year who walks the next, at better gets a guy who improves under torts and becomes a deadline piece, or at best excels here and becomes what Edmonton hopes he would when taken at pick 22. He’s a zero net loss guy and if I’m Briere I’m calling about him asap. I’d imagine a later round pick could make it work.
MATT MURRAY TOR - G - 1 year left at 6.25 mil
The man everyone thought would be a disaster in Toronto was in fact, a disaster in Toronto. Make no mistake, Murray is garbage, and should be buried in the minors, but the leafs are desperately trying to salvage the core four primes. Getting Murray off the books would allow them to finally get some D help and they’d be motivated to do so. They have prospects available that can make it happen, and haven’t been shy about trading picks. We could get a great haul for taking him.
MIKAEL GRANLUND PIT - RW - 2 years left at 5mil
I know, trading with Pit is gross, but if they’re going for one last cup with Crosby and gang, they need cap relief big time. Grandlund is an albatross over them and would cost a pretty steep sum to love for them, especially because unlike us with Hayes, they can’t afford to retain. And if they crash and burn next year, any picks we get from them can become all the more valuable.
MARCO SCANDELLA. STL - D - 1 year left at 3.275 mil
A lot of teams are smashed up against the cap and desperate to find breathing room. Enter St Louis. This trade depends on how confident the blues brass are that the window is still open. But if they are, they HAVE to move scandella. He’s an aging, overpaid, and regressing d man on a team full of them, but he’s the only one without a nmc. The blues have decent youth in the pipeline and a fair amount of picks so it’s not unreasonable.
Now the big one.
BROCK BOESSECONOR GARLAND - VAN - WINGS - 2 yrs left at 6.65mil / 3 yrs left at 4.95 mil.
Vancouver is SCREWED. They have no free money and are tied up in several bad contracts. They have the worst cap situation in the league. Both these guys have been on the block for a long time because of these contracts. If the flyers could get one, or hell both somehow? The pick and prospect haul could be huge. Neither of these guys are bad players and could be flipped with retention later for assets. Vancouver is also known to be trigger happy with trades if they think it’ll solve a problem. If Briere could get these guys and flip them, it has the potential to become his magnum opus. It wouldn’t be easy though, hence why they’re at the end.
So what do you guys think. Got anyone to add?

2023.06.06 17:34 ass-doctor- Who enjoys going on night drives and taking late night showers?

I went on a late night drive yesterday and it was so much fun. The empty roads and clear skies make one of the best combination ever. Do you go on night drives or walk often? What makes you happy? What about night shower or baths?
Also I recently watched run on Netflix and it was a good one imo before that I watched The last black man in San Francisco. What kind of stuff do you watch or listen to??
I love watching it rain from the window of my room, especially when we have thunderstorms and lightning, it just makes it better.
Also I love horror and crime movies. Although I watch all genres but those are my favourite. Not a big reader but I try sometimes. If weather permits I go play tennis in the summer. So yea I’m just looking to chat with some interesting people and talk about interesting things or dumb things or whatever lol . You’re free to talk about anything . Everyone’s welcome

2023.06.06 17:33 slaying_throwaway I (F16) Have Confusing Feelings For My Guy Best Friend (M17), What Do I Do?

Hello, I'm doing this on a throwaway account because I don't want to risk anybody I know to connect who I am. Even though I am pretty young (16F), I would love to get some advice, plus it would be helpful in the future.
My guy best friend(M17) and I have been besties for not that long honestly. However, I did have a crush on him last year and he knew about it. I don't know what he felt about it and I knew there was a chance we might have ended up together, but we didn't. Anyways, we have grown closer this year and we talk about a lot of things. We talk about our views on controversial subjects so we can get to know each other and are respectful when we don't agree. We also tell each other a lot of secrets, he feels like a super trustworthy friend and it's so easy to talk to him. I feel so comfortable around him and it's weird. We are also a part of a lot of similar things so we see each other pretty often.
But I have noticed myself checking his location more often than normal and want to hang out with him. Sometimes I want to also just be alone with him and chill like a couple (like cuddling while scrolling on our phones or watching a movie). He's been in my dreams and I even imagined my first kiss with him. I want to be in a relationship with him but I don't want to risk us losing our friendship. I miss him in a romantic way? I don't know it's so confusing. Also it doesn't feel like any crush I have had in the past. I don't feel giddy or excited when he's around. Personally, I wouldn't be super heartbroken if he found a girlfriend, as long as he is happy I'm happy. I don't know what to do or how to process these feelings, I need some advice on all of this.
Additionally, he has given me confused signals. But he's the kind of guy who is friendly to everyone but I've noticed he picks up my calls and not other people's. We've also tried to stay up all night to do homework and encouraged each other the entire time. He tells me secrets that he doesn't tell anyone else. Except I know who he has a crush on, so I know he probably doesn't like me that way.
However, I do need advice with dealing with the feelings and what the feelings are, it would be really appreciated!
I have a guy friend who I've noticed I feel like I want a relationship with but I don't feel like I have a crush on him. The situation is super complicated for me and I would love to get some advice on the feelings if anyone has felt this way and what I should do.

2023.06.06 17:32 Sure-Royal-1054 WATCH Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online Free at Reddit

Sony Pictures! Here are options for downloading or watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse streaming the full movie online for free on 123movies & Reddit, including where to watch marvel's latest live-action adaptation movies at home. Is Spider-Verse 2 available to stream? Is watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse on Peacock, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.

If you’re like just about everyone else on the planet who saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 and loved it, you’ve probably been waiting for the sequel. You won’t be waiting long, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is finally coming out.
After a grueling five-year-long wait, Marvel fans everywhere will finally be able to return to the animated multiverse with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The upcoming sequel's predecessor requires no explanation, as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse not only ensnared audiences and critics alike but also caught a prestigious Oscar win with a Best Animated Feature award. With "New York's one and only Spider-Man," Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), now becoming a household name, fans of the first film eagerly awaited the day they could see young Miles swing into the Spider-Verse again.
Thankfully, the wait is almost finally over, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will return to screens soon. This time Miles will not only be reunited with Gwen Stacey (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) but he'll also be introduced to an entire multiversal society of Spider-people created and led by a particularly pessimistic variant of Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac). Though some of the other variants in this secretive organization view Miles as a nuisance more than anything else, they'll have to learn to put those apprehensions aside if they hope to save the multiverse from an all-new terrifying threat. As the release date for the sequel to one of the most celebrated Spider-Man films ever made crawls closer and closer
Everyone's favorite web-slinger from an alternate dimension returns for a second theatrical outing. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse continues the multiverse-spanning adventures of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), one of the youngest and newest iterations of Spider-Man in his home dimension. A year after the events of Into the Spider-Verse, Miles is introduced to the Spider-Society, an immense organization of different Spider-People who hail from countless alternate dimensions.
The much-anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is only one day away, and fans can’t wait to see the new adventures of Miles Morales. Once the Sony Pictures-produced movie ends its theatrical run, it will come to the most popular streamers, including Netflix and Disney Plus. But when is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix and Disney Plus? Here is precisely where and how you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse online.
When Is the Release Date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was one of the many films to get hit by a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, moving from its original date of April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022. That's the date seen in the above trailer, but the film has since seen another significant delay since then. Now the film is officially set for release on June 2, 2023. Hopefully, we won't see another delay, but if it means getting a sequel that lives up to the sky-high heights of the original, we'll gladly wait.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Theaters?
Not only was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the subject of rave reviews, but it also pulled in some gargantuan levels of cash at the international box office, with a final tally that quadrupled the film's ninety-million dollar budget. With incredible success like that, it's only natural that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would also be taking advantage of a theatrical release. That is the case, as the upcoming film will be exclusively available in theaters when it premieres on June 2nd, 2023.
When is 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' streaming?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
The home distribution rights for Across the Spider-Verse are in a rather interesting place. In April 2021, it was reported that Sony Studios had signed a multiyear deal with both Netflix and Disney for shared streaming rights to Sony films coming out between 2022 and 2026. This deal includes Across the Spider-Verse as well as the third film in the series, Beyond the Spider-Verse, due out in March 2024.
As for releases like Across the Spider-Verse, the film will be available on Netflix with "first-pay-window-rights" for the first 18 months of its home media release. While it will not be streaming concurrently with its theatrical release, it will be available on Netflix following its theatrical run.
Some of the films are not currently available on the service because Sony has pre-existing partnerships with Starz, as that's where most of the absent films are available to stream. That is except for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is instead only streaming on Fubo TV and FX Now.
For anyone else looking to watch the film as soon as possible, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters on June 2.
How to Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
At the moment, you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at your local theater. But like most movies these days, it should hit a streaming website in the near future.
Like its predecessor, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a flick produced by multimedia conglomerate Disney. What's more, the production studio owns a number of other famous franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. Titles made under these umbrellas have both hit Disney+ sometime after arriving at the box office. Fans may also know the original Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently available to stream on the site as well. So, if the 2023 version follows the same pattern, folks will likely get to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Disney+ later this year too.
As for an exact release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, that's more complicated. Most movies produced by Disney often go to its streamer site within three months after debuting in theaters, like the most recent Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If this is the case for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it will probably drop in late August 2023 or sometime near Labor Day in early September.
When the time comes for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to splash onto Disney+ though, make sure you're all prepared to watch it. If you don't have access yet, you can opt into a 30-day free trial before choosing a plan that start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. After your account is all set, click on the title page on Disney+'s official website or the Disney+ app.
As you wait for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to hit the streamer, why don't you watch the animated version and its sequel Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse? Or if you want to immerse yourself in another live-action version, click on the 2019 ABC TV special Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Live!. Enjoy!
Where To Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online:
As of now, the only way to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on June 2, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.
Watch Now: Spider-Verse (2023) Movie Online Free
Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Disney+.
Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming to Netflix approximately in December 2023.
In 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a five-year deal that gave the latter exclusive first-pay-window U.S. streaming rights for Sony Pictures titles after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. Fans can expect to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix six months after the film’s theatrical release, thus in December 2023. The date seems reasonable considering that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped on Netflix on June 26, 2019, six months after its U.S. release on December 14, 2018. The pay-one window usually begins about nine months after a film’s theatrical release, but it might start earlier in particular cases.

2023.06.06 17:32 onewheeldrive1133 Stream regular video on "VR headset"

Sorry this is strictly speaking not a VLC question, but more a general question about video player on Android.
I got myself one of those cheap VR headset where you have to insert the phone into the headset as the actual monitor (like the Google Cardboard thing).
I thought I would be able to watch my existing collection of videos on a plane or where ever I dont have my TV, but so far it seems to be not possible for such a simple use case.
So my requirements are pretty simple:
- Be able to play regular (non-SBS, non-VR, non-360) video as a SBS video on the fly so I can watch it on it on my headset without having to convert and keep both a SBS and non-SBS version of my collections.
- Be able to stream from a URL/network location. There are plenty of apps that does the first point, but all of them seems to only allow you to play a local file. I dont want to have to copy over GBs of files before I can watch it.
- Have a simple UI. There are tons of them with silly UI that make it looks like you are sitting in a theatre or something. It is fun for the first 10 seconds but if I am watching a movie the last thing I want to see is rows of seats around me, especially on an already limited vision field.
Will the android version of the VLC be able to do that? If not, is there any other android video player that can do it?

However, a clip featuring the comment was leaked on Twitter recently. Mallika posted it along with the words, "So, I want humor to be limitless. I also don't want to be uncomfortable at my work place. The lines are blurred. ”
