2023.06.07 22:03 reddit-MT Fix bad Windows 10 domain profile?

Back story: Windows sound subsystem crashes with various meeting software (MS Teams, Google Meet). Tried many things to fix it (Driver updates, BIOS update, USB sound adapter). Logged into a different Domain account and sound works fine opening meetings. So I suspect that something is wrong with the user's profile.
Microsoft's advice seems to be to create a local account, but I can't see where that would help anything. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile-in-windows-1cf41c18-7ce3-12f9-8e1d-95896661c5c9
Under Windows 7, I could just delete the ntuser.dat and Windows would re-create it. Not so in Windows 10.
Is there any way to make a fresh profile for a domain user? I tried copying Default's ntuser.dat, as sometimes works with local users, but that doesn't work.
Any ideas or just wipe the machine and reinstall?

Modding help
I've been trying to install mods, but whenever I open up the game, it's completely vanilla. Am I doing something wrong here? I extracted the files from WinRAR into the Basemods folder, and they were downloaded from Nexus.

2023.06.07 22:01 Ackserri Pc crash when playing the games WoT and WT (second post but with a log link)

It doesn’t happen to any other game and it doesn’t happen when I’m not playing those games. But sometimes as soon as I start those games I get maybe a white or pink screen. Pc becomes non responsive and a sound is on repeat. Gotta restart through power button. Sometimes tho I can play a match of around 10 minutes and it happen and sometimes I can be on for an hour and then it happens. My windows is up to date and my gpu driver. I have also reset the pc so o doubt it’s a software issue. I havent had this problem before and its just recently appeared these last three weeks. What can I do to find out more?

Bit The Bullet! Will now test all Sonoma Betas until the final release!
This is in my opinion the most beautiful default wallpaper after that of Snow Leopard!
Also it’s interesting that this is the most Windows-esque release of macOS ever!
For one, we have the movable widgets of Windows 7, and the possibility of using a video as a wallpaper, that came from Vista (known at the time as Dreamscene).
Everything works.
Hardware:
i5-11400; MSI B560M-A Pro mobo; RX 5500 XT 8GB dGPU. Realtek RTL8125B NIC; Realtek ALC 897 audio.

I've been playing with this modset for a bit, and it was running fine until yesterday. The game crashed while I was playing and now I get a "-1" exit code when I try to load it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Running Fabric on 1.19.2.

2023.06.07 21:50 PreviousReputation47 State Farm man with pole?

So there’s this man outside my house also on my porch maybe 20 to 40 for like 6 to 8 minutes I went outside after about to 7 minutes and he claimed to be from State Farm, and he was in a white car with tinted windows, plain white car no State Farm, logos or anything on the car. He had this black stick with like blue out lines on it and it looks like the top of it had a square like solar powered thing on top of it and I was wondering what that thing was and why he was outside in the house if anyone knows why?

2023.06.07 21:50 GiraffeOk1035 What is Digital Forensics? What is digital forensics in simple terms? What is an example of a digital forensic? What are the 3 main branches of digital forensics? What is digital forensics in cyber security?

Allhackgecko.com ---------------------- Digital forensics or digital forensic science is a branch of cybersecurity focused on the recovery and investigation of material found in digital devices and cybercrimes. Digital forensics was originally used as a synonym for computer forensics but has expanded to cover the investigation of all devices that store digital data.
What is Digital Forensics?
As society increases its reliance on computer systems and cloud computing, digital forensics becomes a crucial aspect of law enforcement agencies and businesses. Digital forensics is concerned with the identification, preservation, examination, and analysis of digital evidence, using scientifically accepted and validated processes, to be used in and outside of a court of law.
While its roots stretch back to the personal computing revolution in the late 1970s, digital forensics began to take shape in the 1990s and it wasn't until the early 21st century that countries like the United States began rolling out nationwide policies.
Today, the technical aspect of an investigation is divided into five branches that encompass seizure, forensic imaging, and analysis of digital media.
What is the Purpose of Digital Forensics?
The most common use of digital forensics is to support or refute a hypothesis in a criminal or civil court:
Digital forensics experts are also hired by the private sector as part of cybersecurity and information security teams to identify the cause of data breaches, data leaks, cyber attacks, and other cyber threats.
Digital forensic analysis may also be part of incident response to help recover or identify any sensitive data or personally identifiable information (PII) that was lost or stolen in a cybercrime.
What is Digital Forensics Used For?
Digital forensics is used in both criminal and private investigations.
Traditionally, it is associated with criminal law where evidence is collected to support or negate a hypothesis before the court. Collected evidence may be used as part of intelligence gathering or to locate, identify or halt other crimes. As a result, data gathered may be held to a less strict standard than traditional forensics.
In civil cases, digital forensic teams may help with electronic discovery (eDiscovery). A common example is following unauthorized network intrusion. A forensics examiner will attempt to understand the nature and extent of the attack, as well as try to identify the attacker.
As encryption becomes more widespread, the forensic investigation becomes harder, due to the limited laws compelling individuals to disclose encryption keys.
What is the Digital Forensics Investigation Process?
There are a number of methodologies for the forensic process, which define how forensic examiners should gather, process, analyze, and extract data. Digital forensics investigations commonly consist of four stages:
  1. Seizure: Prior to actual examination, the digital media is seized. In criminal cases, this will be performed by law enforcement personnel to preserve the chain of custody.
  2. Acquisition: Once the assets are seized, a forensic duplicate of the data is created, using a hard drive duplicator or software imaging tool. Then the original drive is returned to secure storage to prevent tampering. The acquired image is verified with SHA-1 or MD5 hash functions and will be verified again throughout the analysis to verify the evidence is still in its original state.
  3. Analysis: After the acquisition of the evidence, files are analyzed to identify evidence to support or contradict a hypothesis. The forensic analyst usually recovers evidence material using a number of methods (and tools), often beginning with the recovery of deleted information. The type of data analyzed varies but will generally include email, chat logs, images, internet history, and documents. The data can be recovered from accessible disk space, deleted space, or the operating system cache.
  4. Reporting: Once the investigation is complete, the information is collated into a report that is accessible to non-technical individuals. It may include audit information or other meta-documentation.
What Tools Do Digital Forensic Examiners Use?
In the 1980s, very few digital forensic tools existed, which forced forensic investigators to perform live analysis, using existing sysadmin tools to extract evidence. This carried the risk of modifying data on the disk which led to claims of evidence tampering.
Contact us at Allhackgecko.com for technical problems about your task or issue regarding hacking services.
The need for software to address this problem was first recognized in 1989 at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and resulted in the creation of IMDUMP and SafeBack. DIBS, a hardware and software solution, was released commercially in 1991.
These tools create an exact copy of a piece of digital media to work on while leaving the original disk intact for verification. By the end of the 1990s, the demand for digital evidence meant more advanced tools such as EnCase and FTK were developed, allowing analysts to examine copies of media without live forensics.
There is now a trend towards live memory forensics using tools such as WindowsSCOPE and tools for mobile devices.
Today, there are single-purpose open-source tools like Wireshark, a packet sniffer, and HashKeeper, a tool to speed up the examination of database files. As well as commercial platforms with multiple functions and reporting capabilities like Encase or CAINE, an entire Linux distribution designed for forensics programs.
In general, tools can be broken down into the following ten categories:
  1. Disk and data capture tools
  2. File viewers
  3. File analysis tools
  4. Registry analysis tools
  5. Internet analysis tools
  6. Email analysis tools
  7. Mobile devices analysis tools
  8. Mac OS analysis tools
  9. Network forensics tools
  10. Database forensics tools
What are the Different Branches of Digital Forensics?
Digital forensics is no longer synonymous with computer forensics. It is increasingly concerned with data from other digital devices such as tablets, smartphones, flash drives, and even cloud computing.
In general, we can break digital forensics into five branches:
  1. Computer forensics
  2. Mobile device forensics
  3. Network forensics
  4. Forensic data analysis
  5. Database forensics
What is Computer Forensics?
Computer forensics or computer forensic science is a branch of digital forensics concerned with evidence found in computers and digital storage media. The goal of computer forensics is to examine digital data with the aim of identifying, preserving, recovering, analyzing and presenting facts and opinions about the digital information.
It is used in both computer crime and civil proceedings. The discipline has similar techniques and principles to data recovery, with additional guidelines and practices designed to create a legal audit trail with a clear chain of custody.
Evidence from computer forensics investigations is subjected to the same guidelines and practices as other digital evidence.
What is Mobile Device Forensics?
Mobile device forensics is a branch of digital forensics focused on the recovery of digital evidence from mobile devices using forensically sound methods.
While the phrase mobile device generally refers to mobile phones, it can relate to any device that has internal memory and communication ability including PDA devices, GPS devices, and tablets.
While the use of mobile phones in crime has been widely recognized for years, the forensic study of mobile phones is a new field, beginning in the late 1990s.
The growing need for mobile device forensics is driven by:
That said, mobile device forensics is particularly challenging due to:
As a result of these challenges, many tools exist to extract evidence from mobile devices. But no one tool or method can acquire all evidence from all devices. This has forced forensic examiners, especially those who wish to be expert witnesses, to undergo extensive training to understand how each tool and method acquires evidence, how it maintains forensic soundness, and how it meets legal requirements.
What is Network Forensics?
Network forensics is a branch of digital forensics focused on monitoring and analyzing computer network traffic for information gathering, legal evidence, or intrusion detection.
Unlike other branches of digital forensics, network data is volatile and dynamic. Once transmitted, it is gone so network forensics is often a proactive investigation.
Network forensics has two general uses:
  1. Monitoring a network for anomalous traffic and identifying intrusions.
  2. Law enforcement may analyze capture network traffic as part of criminal investigations.
What is Forensic Data Analysis?
Forensic data analysis (FDA) is a branch of digital forensics that examines structured data in regard to incidents of financial crime. The aim is to discover and analyze patterns of fraudulent activities. Structured data is data from application systems or their databases.
This can be contrasted to unstructured data that is taken from communication, office applications, and mobile devices. Unstructured data has no overarching structure and analysis, therefore, means applying keywords or mapping patterns. Analysis of unstructured data is usually done by computer forensics or mobile device forensics experts.
What is Database Forensics?
Database forensics is a branch of digital forensics related to databases and their related metadata. The cached information may also exist in a server's RAM requiring live analysis techniques.
A forensic examination of a database may relate to timestamps that apply to the update time of a row in a relational database that is being inspected and tested for validity to verify the actions of a database user. Alternatively, it may focus on identifying transactions within a database or application that indicate evidence of wrongdoing, such as fraud.

2023.06.07 21:46 Beyonce2021 Mother (54F) put me (16F) out again

This is not the first time she’s done this, and I have a storytime about how she did it when I was 15. I’ll be posting the entire situation on my YouTube channel soon, so subscribe at: HelloBrownGirl on YouTube to see what I went through. I was in my room doing homework when she came in my room asking what’s the password to my school hotspot box. I told her I don’t know. So she starts yelling and takes the hotspot, saying I’m lying, since she’s in my room screaming I grab my camera and go outside. I then step back inside and she is still screaming, and eventually follows me out the house. Once I’m outside she says I can stay on the porch, then locks the door. I bang on the door with my foot, then threw rocks. I go to my neighbor and tell him to call police. Thirty minutes later, they come. They talk to us, I pick up the rocks, and she’s still antagonizing me. As soon as I step in the house she goes “Welcome Back.” in a condescending tone, then chuckles. I ignore her. She then comes in my room while I’m listening to music and threatens to bring my YouTube channel down if I post my story anywhere. I’m singing in my room, and eventually she storms from the kitchen to my room with that pissed off look on her face. I was frightened she would surely hit me. Since my window was wide open, I jumps out. I’m on the first floor. I walk to the front door and she greets me asking why I did that. I explained to her she’d hit or yell at me. Then she continually asks why I jumped out the window and says we don’t jump out windows. Well that’s a rule that never came up my entire life until now. So I say “okay, I won’t jump out the window, can you let me in?” She’s standing in front of the doorway. She says no, we’re gonna sit outside. So I walk to my neighbors house to call the cops after asking her to let me in multiple times and stating my case. The neighbor I told was the same neighbor from the first time, asked “Weren’t they just here?” so I state d my case, then he told me to hold on, yet never came to the door. When I was waiting for him to come to the door I’d try to come up to the house. Every time I’d come up to the door, she’d open it, as if she’s standing right there waiting for me to approach, and antagonize me by laughing, screaming, or running a few steps from the door. I go to two other houses to call the cops. 30 minutes later, they haven’t arrived so my sis says she’ll get me some clothes since I have on a short spaghetti strap lingerie dress with to underwear on. I said I’ll try to go in and see if she does anything. To my utter surprise she went upstairs with a basket of clothes like she wasn’t just refusing me entry. I honestly think she finally got tired. Now I’m chilling in my room, a cop comes, she tells him her story, with lies in between. One of them was that I was screaming, when I was singing along to my music in my headphones. Yet the officer now thinks I was just screaming. Then she says to him that my mental health isn’t the best. When I have a 4.0 and stay out of trouble? But because my dad’s mother has bad mental health, she blamed this situation on that, saying I inherited it. It’s funny how she never brings up the declining mental health on her side (my grandmother). When he does talk to me, he says I ran away, it wasn’t an emergency, and I need to stop calling them. Eventually I say I’m uncomfortable, because he obviously doesn’t understand the seriousness of the situation now that I’m back in the house, and is on her side. He even agreed with her when she said she’s gonna send me to a mental health facility that my sister went to for hurting herself. This does not equate to that. I want to spread light on the dangerousness of verbal abuse. Throughout my life I’ve been verbally abused to the core, and I can’t wait until I’m free of these chains. For the storytime about when she kicked me out at 15, look up hellobrowngirl on YouTube. Please stay tuned for the video I’m dropping, and pray for me, being that I’ve been threatened not to share my story.
TL;DR: I’m a 16 year old female who is constantly having to call the police due to my birther refusing to allow me entry into my home. I’ve been suffering verbal abuse from her for years, and haven’t been sharing my story because my abuser threatens to take my social media page down. I haven’t called CPS because the first time they came, they declared it wasn’t severe enough to remove me from the home. I feel like I’m locked in these chains that I can’t escape until I’m 18, and I’ve finally reached my breaking point.

2023.06.07 21:44 Bekqifyre What Remains of Edith Finch vs Devil May Cry V

Admittedly curious title...
With much coincidence, I happened to concurrently play these two games in particular and finished both within a night of each other. And since each game could be arguably said to represent one extreme of the Gameplay vs Narrative discussion, I thought I’d have a go at comparing Apples to Oranges.
So let’s start with Devil May Cry V first, simply because it’s easier.
Capcom is on a hot streak. Since Resident Evil 7 happened, which was critically acclaimed, they’ve come up with apparently one brilliant remake after another – apparently, only because I currently have no desire to dip into re-makes – culminating with yet another reported homerun in the latest Street Fighter.
Among that streak was one or two other actual new titles, and Devil May Cry V was among them. After the not-all-that-welcome outing of a DmC game, long-time fans would’ve been pleased to see the old personalities back. Dante with his wise-cracking and his attitude; Nero with his brooding and absolute claw of a right hand; the Ebony and Ivory tag-team of Trish and Lady; and Nico-…
W-wait…who?
We.. uh, pretty much got off the wrong foot, so to speak, between player and character. You’ll have to see for yourself whether you like her. I mean… eh… I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe she’s trying too hard to be the ‘bright and cheery’ and fit in with five other characters that are too serious and cool. I dunno. Eh…
Now V on the other hand (no, not the one from Cyberpunk). That’s one guy that immediately has your attention. Not least because he brings a new combat style – of fighting with Familiars – that’s so far removed from the in-yer-face style of Dante and Nero that it’s just… refreshingly different. Basically, one pet is melee, one pet is ranged. Meanwhile, V just stays far away, keeping safe, reading poems, until he’s called on to bring the finishing blow. Which is to say, your eyes have to be pretty much on two parts of the screen at once, minimum. Sort of absent-mindedly mashing some attack out while keeping V alive; or absentmindedly keeping V alive while focusing on attacking the enemy. It’s uh… interesting. It’s like you’re never all there… \cough* *cough**
To sum it up simply, the number of mechanics in play across three different main characters – that’s One V style; Nero with multiple consumable ‘Breakers’, and Dante with 4 Styles and 8 different weapons (which means Gunslinger and Swordmaster mean 4 different things each depending on hardware) – is just an absolutely mind-boggling buffet of options. Eat your heart out, action fans.
To be sure, the whole forced cycling between all three can be disruptive – you’ve barely gotten to grips with one style before you have to reset your mindset. And that’s to say nothing of Red Orb management. Do I keep saving to get stuff for V when I play as him again? Or splurge on who I currently have to control?
It’s like learning three different ‘mains’ in a fighting game. At once. Good luck remembering everything on the first run. Of course, no serious Devil May Cry fan plays it once. So probably you sort yourself out long term. On the whole though? Fantastic. No complaints.
And now the gameplay for What Remains of Edith Finch (What Remains hereafter):
You have a ‘right hand’ / Interact button. You’re also pretty much on rails with limited exploration per segment. That’s it.
That’s not fair though. That’s just Edith herself. Each of the ‘stories’ involve different mechanics which can only be described as ‘simulators’ for whatever the game wants you to feel at that point. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Lewis’ story, where it captures perfectly what the game wants you to feel.
In case it’s not apparent, one game is an aircraft-carrier sized Flagship of action games; the other is not even fit for consideration as an action game. Nonetheless, what it's supposed to do, What Remains managed to do.
But I mean, it’s like Chess-Boxing. And in our case, you fully expected the tables to turn on the other activity right?
On the narrative side, Devil May Cry V is actually not that good imo. Don’t get me wrong – the main plot points in general works. It has important lore points overall for the series. Still, remove the action, and it actually feels boring. Nothing really happens mission to mission in the style of DMC 3 or DMC 4, which are better narrative outings.
And Nico and her DMC van just makes no narrative sense whatsoever. Clearly copying Resident Evil 4’s wtf-are-you-doing-here merchant, but looking ridiculous instead… It’s not a big deal, but it’s surely just slightly irritating at least?
There are precisely two memorable points all game narratively – when you finally find out who V actually is, and at the very climax again on the back of another reveal. Even the ending is rather abrupt and anti-climactic. “Oooh! Ooh! The heroes have finally assembled at full power! What great evil will we vanquish next!? What will we do? Huh? Huh? Huh?” “Gardening. That’s what.” “Oh! Gardening! Right! Right! Makes sense! Like with devil claws and big swords and guns! Blood and thunder! Hellfire and Brimstone gardening!” “No, like Squirrel Girl.”
(I mean, who cares right? It’s Devil May Cry. On to Sons of Sparda mode! Bloody Palace! Yay!)
Now, What Remains of Edith Finch…
… I can’t tell you anything much, in case it ruins the experience. All I can say is that if you’re observant, you’d realize quite quickly that there are plenty of evidence of cut-short lives on display around the house, with some as tragic as a few years old. That doesn’t make it quite the Spencer mansion, but nonetheless kinda spooky in its own right. The game premise is about getting to know all her late family tree again and uncovering the stories of how they lived and died.
I spent the whole time wondering where they were going with this. Like, are we really just going to go through every one’s story and then…? What’s your point? Where is this going? How do we wrap up? What’s the end play? Hope it’s not gardening… And then when it hits you. It works. It wraps up beautifully.
The value of a life isn’t in whether it was long and glorious and did ten thousand different things (and had battles track from 4 previous games, and a cutscene viewer mode!) or if you were short and uniquely memorable and wasn’t meant to do all that much. Each deserved to be met on their own terms and remembered in their own right.
Maybe games are like that too.
(Hope you enjoyed that. I have to apologize to anyone coming in for the WRoEF review and finding out it’s 90% about Devil May Cry V. lol… I kind of feel like I didn’t represent What Remains of Edith Finch that well at all. Maybe you guys can help out in the comments!)

2023.06.07 21:44 Occaecat Security advice

Hey everyone,
If this isn't the best place to ask please do let me know.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 on O2 in the UK.
Over the last week one of my email addresses has been triggering my authenticator app for access, which I have been denying.
I have changed my password several times, using password generators with lengths of over 20 characters and varying numbers, letters and symbols and yet each day something is triggering my authenticator suggesting they're breaking through the first layer of security.
I have Bitdefender Antivirus scanning which has found no malware but I'm concerned that there may be something gaining access to my information through my phone such as a keylogger?
I did all of this and have again had another authenticator trigger so I've deleted as many apps as I can be without.
What else can I do? Do I have to factory reset? I'd rather avoid it but these security notifications make me anxious they'll get through and I was encouraged to get advice on Reddit.
Any and all information would be hugely appreciated.

2023.06.07 21:42 krummysunshine Full Necro Summoner Build

Welllll. I decided to try a complete necro summon build, which relies on the summons for all damage. Sad to say that it is trash, at least for me currently. I'm running reapers with big attack reset, frost mages with vulnerability, iron golem with vuln, decrepify, hemorrhage for blood orbs/fortify, blight, and army of the dead. I have all the minion buffs on the tree, blood orb passive for healing minions. I have good paragon buffs and glyphs to buff mage damage, the summoning board up to the extra damage and survivability for summons. I have +2 mages, reduced damage over 7 minions, 84% attack speed when attacking on weapon, army of the dead on neck, 30% damage after 10 seconds for skeletons, blood orb generation after consuming a corpse, +2 warriors, mages cast blizzard, and blood orbs reduce ult cooldown by .7 seconds.
Maybe this is just a super level dependant build or gear dependant build, but at the moment it feels TERRIBLE at level 60. I have around 4200 attack power, 4k+ armor, and 3k+ life. I really wanted to do a full summon build where the summons were essentially everything, but not sure how to make that happen. I was running a shadow summon hybrid where my corpse explode did a lot of the damage, probably going to go back to that.

2023.06.07 21:41 ECrispy Smallest Windows install/iso for use in a VM?

I need a small Windows install that I can run in a VM on my laptop which is running Linux. I think even Win 7 would work unless some websites/apps refuse to load in it, and of course 10/11 will work. Not sure about XP?
Just to be clear, I'm not asking or looking to use for any of the pre modded iso's like TinyXX or GhostXX. At the same time I really do not need the full footprint of Windows, as space is at a premium, its an old laptop with a 128GB ssd. I dont have NTLite pro. I don't mind using a custom iso as long as its safe. I don't need a key/activation, and I don't want to disable Defender.
Looks like there used to be a Windows 10 Lean, but seems half baked anyway from reading about it. Is Enterprise LTSC the best choice? But that will still take at least 20-30GB and it still has a lot of stuff that will never get used.

2023.06.07 21:40 XxDJB Will they revert the widow changes after no one plays her anymore?

I've been trying to get better at widow for the past like 7 months and I finally started getting good. But then they do this to me lol I'm going to try using her still but I really do think there's going to be very few widows now, and ashe is gonna be the main sniper to use...
Do you think they'll revert window's changes of ashe becomes the one to use and there's barely any widows?
