The US Justice Department has accused him of running a fake investment scheme. Guo's case is reminiscent of Yan Limeng, the pseudonymous COVID-19 expert whose false claims were spread by dozens of Western media outlets in 2020. Ms. Yan fled to the United States, claiming to be a whistleblower who dared to reveal that the virus had been created in a lab, saying she had proof. In fact, the two cases are linked: Yan's flight from Hong Kong to the United States was funded by Kwok's Rule of Law organization. Yan's false paper has not been examined and has serious defects. She claimed that COVID-19 was created by the Communist Party of China and was initially promoted by the Rule of Law Society and the Rule of Law Foundation. Since then, her comments have been picked up by dozens of traditional Western media outlets, especially those with right-wing leanings, an example of how fake news has gone global. Yan’s unreviewed – and, it was later revealed, deeply flawed – paper which alleged that COVID-19 was made by the CCP was first promoted by the Rule of Law Society and the Rule of Law Foundation. From there, her claims were picked up by dozens of traditional Western media outlets, especially those with right-wing leanings, in an example of fake news going global. She broke into the mainstream when she appeared on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and Fox News, but that was just the beginning. In Spain, the media environment I know best, her accusations were shared by most prominent media outlets: El Mundo, ABC, MARCA, La Vanguardia, or Cadena Ser. Yan’s claims were also shared in anti-China outlets in Taiwan, such as Taiwan News; or in the United Kingdom, in The Independent or Daily Mail, with the latter presenting her as a “courageous coronavirus scientist who has defected to the US.” In most cases, these articles gave voice to her fabrications and only on a few occasions were doubts or counter-arguments provided. Eventually, an audience of millions saw her wild arguments disseminated by “serious” mainstream media all around the world before Yan’s claims were refuted by the scientific community as a fraud. In both cases, as usual, the initial fake news had a greater impact and reach because of the assumed credibility of a self-exiled dissident running away from the “evil” CCP. Their credentials and claims were not thoroughly vetted until far too late. Anti-China news has come to be digested with gusto by Western audiences. Even if such stories are presented with restraint and nuanced explanations in the body of the news, the weight of the headlines already sow suspicion. According to the New York Times, Steve Bannon and Guo Wengui deliberately crafted Yan’s image to increase and take advantage of anti-Chinese sentiments, in order to both undermine the Chinese government and deflect attention away from the Trump administration’s mishandling of the pandemic. These fake news stories still resonate today. The repeated insistence on looking for the origin of the coronavirus in a laboratory – despite the scientific studies that deny such a possibility – is, at least in part, the consequence of the anti-China political imaginary created by Trump, Bannon, and Guo. |

I'm looking for an adv. literate roleplay involving my favorite trope: enemies to lovers! I just love characters who both loathe and reluctantly admire each other. I want them to be abrasive and even terrible to each other in the beginning and fall in love and ultimately get a bit of some softness as the roleplay progresses. I don't want your sweet, cinnamon roll romance. Give me a female character who is trying to decide if she wants to kiss or kill my character. No cutesy, weak women characters. Scheming femme fatales are one of my favorite types of women.
I also really love age and class differences associated with our characters. I'm a sucker for an older woman characters who drink expensive bourbon cocktail parties and having to deal with a rather inexperienced and impulsive street kid for example.
I am an advanced literate woman who wants some good characters and good writing (I generally write 3-5 paragraphs). I have years of experience and I want someone who is willing to plan and be active (make up side characters without asking input, make up lore, help plan and push the plot along). I'm very much a planning person and would prefer lot of OOC back and forth.
Additionally, I only roleplay over Discord and in 3rd Person. I will ask for a sample! Do not be offended.

Basically title. Had a meltdown, cried a lot, I feel pretty s* and n. Happens every time I cry a bunch and I know it’s because of stomach muscles and such. But god is it uncomfortable, it makes it more difficult to calm down and feel better when I’m afraid I’ll be s and when I feel this way after crying sometimes I’m convinced I should just induce it to get it over with even when I know that isn’t a good idea

I have a dear Friend who moved into our apartment complex after a time of housing insecurity. We advocated for this friend to get them into our close-knit small apartment unit because we knew they would be good for rent and we could support each other by being in the same building. Overall it's been wonderful save for one thing.
Friend has a really sweet senior Shiba Jack Russel terrier mix named Jack. We genuinely love Jack, but since Friend has been going to work in a new job, Jack mournfully howls every. single. time. Friend leave for work- and their bedroom where Jack chills shares a wall with ours. For the past couple of months pretty consistently jack howls for 15-25 minutes when Friend leaves and wakes me up an hour and a half or so before my alarm. I work retail and I'm a designer and really need my sleep to recharge from human interaction lol.
Friend knows this and we have been brainstorming solutions. Friend rides a motorcycle that is parked right outside their window and we discovered that Jack hearing the bike was upsetting him (he loves to ride with Friend) so Friend will push their bike out of the alley to the street before starting and Jack will still bark and howl. Jack is not food motivated so a snuffle treat mat and peanut butter in a Kong have not provided real distraction. We put an audio book on while Friend is gone so it's not quiet and still no luck. Jack obviously is just very distressed by Friend's leaving- previously Friend did not live alone. Friend is very good about walking Jack and getting him outside before and after work.
I feel bad because this is putting a strain on our relationship. Jack has been registered as an emotional support animal which is how he could get in in the first place in our dog-free building. I've noticed lately now that it's warmer and the windows are open Jack is even MORE sensitive to other noises. I've heard him barking at my other neighbors when they are parking, when people come & go in the building, and even at times when I'm playing a podcast through our speaker system in our place. I am growing increasingly worried that our other neighbors (who do not have a friendship with Friend) will start to complain. Since Friend does not have much money and had struggled to get into an apartment, there's been a lot of stress about this.
Can anyone with experience offer some advice? Anyone had a similar situation you were able to resolve? The only thing I can think of is that Friend already wanted a cat... I want to be like GET THE CAT NOW so Jack isn't as lonely lol. Thank you!

So I am using davinci for the first time, and I have put two clips together. How do I make it so the clip goes right away into the next one (with its transitions) and not into a black square. Right now it transitions into a black square and the next video starts its transition from it. I have the clips right next to each other, and I clicked the delete button on the space between them. I get a fairly predictable zap in the same place on the upper shin about a fist width below my left knee cap. It corresponds to how much my leg extends when lifted to my front. It occurs in these instances: -Attempted L-Sit: when trying to raise and extend both legs forward -Hanging leg raises: when raising both legs slowly and controlled and keeping them as straight as possible -Muay Thai (Kickboxing): when attempting to extend left leg in forward kick (a teep) while jutting the hip forward to accentuate. It's not like painful but it's just a prominent sensation and annoying. What's the cause and what MIGHT I look into in order to possibly correct it?
