2023.04.01 12:26 supmfers22 in desperate need of advice..

hi, so im the partner of someone who recently had two seizures two weeks ago, his first in years. and since his hospital visit, he’s been on keppra 1000mg 2x a day, and i feel like im not even dating the same person. he has been having violent episodes which hasn’t been something he’s ever done before. im aware of keppra rage, and really i just wanted to know if anyone else is a partner coping with similar issues? i just simply don’t know what to do. i thought i could handle it, but it’s gotten worse and now im not sure. i understand that it’s traumatic and he can’t necessarily help it, however im just not sure how to go about coping with it. anyone else with keppra rage have any advice? or partners that have learned how to cope with it?

2023.04.01 12:25 starvingweirdo Need a full guide! Always hesitated to put so many products on skin but now I guess it's needed. So starting from scratch and I need guides and advices and everything literally.

I (25F) have no skincare routine except for washing my face twice (with acnelac soap) and applying moisturizer (dermat suggested- acne oc) once a day. MY SKIN TYPE IS OILY TO COMBINATION TYPE, WITH BLACKHEADS ON NOSE ONLY
Reason - I had severe acne breakout during my puberty, used hell lot of products to control but all failed and finally underwent Isotretinoin (Acutane) treatment for it. This lead to some allergies in my body and had to discontinue the treatment midway. By then, my acnes stopped, skin was almost getting back to normal but as I stopped the medication my skin is now bumpy with uneven skin tone. I was very scared to use any more new products on my skin after this so stuck to minimal products and routine.
Now, I realise it's high time I take care of my skin with so many new products in market. But I am clueless and confused as to where to start.
I'd like to know the right products for my skin type, their order and frequency of usage as well, and should not be too expensive (for comparison- acne oc and acne uv come as affordable to me and would like to know products in these range) This post is like asking for help because I am such a dumb in this field.

2023.04.01 12:23 CommercialTower1156 weird dream

this may be random but i dreamt that it was my birthday and celebrated by people (family, boyfriend, and boyfriend’s friends/classmates). I was all glammed up for my boyfriend and my boyfriend told his friend that he regretted cheating on me after seeing how pretty I was. then at night, his other friends told what he said to me right in front of him. I didn’t reacted angry.
Fast forward, all went home, and I was walking around outside my condominium building. this is where i came inside a school that is now closing but i get a chance to wander around inside. upon exiting, i saw a classroom with students and a teacher. I asked the guard “Are they still having class at this hour?” mind you, it was like 10 pm in my dream and the guard said I shouldn’t be joking like that. With that, I left and looked for alternative entrance inside the condominium but it was all closed now. Its like walking along the alley. And then when I finally get to the lobby, I see a baby in a stroller that weirdly looks like me when I was a baby—but this kid has a massive grown women p*bic hair. Nevertheless, I touched the baby’s arm with my index finger and her one eye opened. after that, I woke up.
is there a meaning to this?

2023.04.01 12:22 thehalothief Just how important is nap total during day?

11mo is pretty close to being maxed out on 3/4/4 but (sometimes 3.5/4/4 or 3/4.5/4) and we’re having to cap the second nap to preserve bedtime. First nap is always 35-45 minutes and I try for 90 for the second but with the day getting pushed out we can usually only manage 60 minutes before I have to intervene.
She’s sleeping around 11 hours overnight. Is that enough day sleep? She’s a happy little baby but doesn’t seem like much if we’re potentially on this schedule for another few months.

2023.04.01 12:20 Economy_Concept8055 translucent floaters in right eye at 14 years old

I’m 14 and I’ve had floaters since I was 4 but I never cared about them or knew what they were and ever since I found out which was only three days ago I can’t get them off my mind and they’re making it hard to focus on things I’m doing like playing a game/watching tv. I have 4 translucent strands and a couple of translucent dots only in my right eye my left eye has none. Before I found out what they were I’d occasionally see one floating around but it felt like they went away after a couple of seconds. Now I’m seeing more but I don’t know if they were recently formed or if my anxiety is just making me focus on ones I’ve always had but never noticed. It’s really affecting my mental health and I don’t like looking at screens now unless it’s on the lowest brightness and night mode. Will they ever move out of my vision or am I stuck with them?

2023.04.01 12:20 sthweird Should I accept this job offer and move abroad?

Hello everyone. Since last October I’ve been applying for jobs in Germany. Information that you might need to know: I am 28 years old. I am working in IT industry. I don’t have the work permit to work in Germany. I am unfortunately very picky and so far I’ve only applied for 65 jobs or something. Most of them gave me an immediate no. Currently I am working in a big german company in my home country for one year. My german level is B1.3 and I actively speak german. Recently I’ve got an acceptance from one of the companies, that I’ve applied for(First offer and interview I’ve got). And it’s relatively big company, but not as big as the company that I am currently working for. I am very familiar with the position itself, but never really did that job. And there are additional tools I need to learn and use. The team is building up and I’ll be 2nd or 3rd person in the team. I can speak English within the team and for a while with other departments too, but in the long run they want me to speak german for work. Salary is good. I only don’t know how is the work/life balance in general, how is the manager, how is the company culture etc. and these things make me anxious. And now there might be another opportunity in front of me. There will be an open position in my current company and in the current project that I am working for but in Germany. And they might consider hiring me. Because I know the project, I know the people. Company supports this kind of transitions. And pros are; i will be doing the same work that I’ve been doing, I already know the people, manager, company culture. And the work/life balance is here something else. I can’t say that I like what I do here, I am more like okay with it. But the thing is I’ve talked with the manager and he said he will be on vacation for two weeks and he will be interviewing applicants during may for this position. There is already one other applicant that they know, without posting the open position. But she is a student and will be writing her thesis. Now I am so unsure about the job offer I get. On one hand I have a solid offer, on the other hand I have my comfort zone, if I get the job in my current company.. but I also don’t want to lose the offer I’ve already have for nothing..

2023.04.01 12:19 Glittering_Thought35 Cat eats very little 12 days post-OP

My 11 y.o. cat had his right hind leg removed and since then he eats a fraction of the amount he normally does. He got his sutures removed 2 days ago and the vet is concerned because he lost about 400g (0.8 pounds) in those 12 days.
He gets daily pain meds from me but still eats very little but loves me feeding him his snacks directly.
I don't have other cats and he can reach is bowl easily (at least I think so?). Otherwise he seems perfectly fine - no infection, he moves around and even gets up on his cat tree which he didn't for months because of his cancer.
How can I encourage him to eat and did anyone experience similar behavior?

2023.04.01 12:19 Friendly_Mango9161 1 year.

1 year ago today on 4/1/22, I was in a dark and miserable place. Whenever I wasn’t numb, I was filled with anxiety and despair.
Kratom was introduced to me as an innocuous “natural supplement” to boost energy and mood. Little did I know it was a highly addictive soul crushing opiate that deteriorates the mind and body.
4.5 years I battled with this drug. 2 to 3 extract shots a day, and sometimes some additional capsules thrown in the mix. My money was depleting, I was a social recluse, and I was terrified my kratom-addicted brain would never allow me to quit. My life was passing me by. Everything good in my life being sacrificed for this substance that had a strangle hold on my psyche.
Then on 4/1/22, after being hospitalized due to a severe panic attack and stabbing chest pains, I finally had enough. I made a decision. A true decision. Not a half-hearted one. I decided I’d never consume any kratom ever again, no matter what. I quit cold-turkey and went through months of hell, but it was hell with a purpose, unlike the previous hell of daily kratom use.
As of today 4/1/23 I am 1 year completely kratom free. In the meantime, I have moved to a new state and I’m enjoying a truly fulfilling career. Life has dramatically improved like night and day. Life is beautiful.
I know my story isn’t unique, and neither is your situation. That should give you hope. The fact that so many others were going through the same hell really gave me comfort and I realized I wasn’t alone. This forum was invaluable in my quitting process.
Please find it in yourself to quit. Take your life back. You have the strength to do so, whether you believe it now or not. Your future self will be so immensely grateful, and your life will flourish in so many ways you never thought possible. Best wishes to you all.

2023.04.01 12:19 hurryup_weredreaming Reminiscence

Hey, guys! Do you ever get so nostalgic about certain good old times that you actually return to the place where those experiences took place so that you can relive them for a brief moment? I know reminiscing is not always a good thing, but for me it always had a therapeutic effect, since I rarely do it.
For example, when I go to my hometown to visit my parents, once a year I return to the park where me and my friends used to gather every other night when we were teens. Sometimes one of us would bring a guitar and we would sing along. Life took us in different directions and we rarely if ever meet now. So when I feel nostalgic I would just go to that place, sit on a bench, smoke a cigar and remember those happy times and immediately feel lucky that I had the chance to live those moments in the past.
Do you have similar memories that have such a positive and therapeutic effect on you? Share or it didn't happen. 😄

2023.04.01 12:18 Correct_Nose7842 AITA for declining last-minute plans from the same person all the time?

I’m M26, as is the person who is trying to arrange plans with me. He is my cousin but over the years has been more of a friend than a cousin (I mean this in a complimentary way, I’m way closer with him than any of my other cousins and it just feels like chilling with a friend).
We used to see each other relatively irregularly, maybe once every couple of months but we actually ended up living close together about a year ago and started to see each other more often, maybe once a week. This was fine except he would message or call me out of the blue a couple times a week asking what I was currently doing and if I wanted to hang out. For context I live with my partner, I play football two evenings a week and I also have other family and friends I need to balance seeing. He’s a single guy and has his own friend group too.
I like to have my weeks kind of planned out as I’m usually busy at least half the nights of my week, and of course I need to be available for my partner too as well sometimes. He would text me like maybe an hour before I finished work (I’m 9-5) and ask if I wanted to do anything. 9 times out of 10 I would already have plans, but if I was free even for a couple hours I would try make time for him. When we hang out it’s completely fine and I tend to enjoy myself, however I just find myself increasingly irritated by the lack of notice for plans. Fortunately my partner is really tolerant, but I feel bad if, for example, we were hoping to have a chill evening and suddenly I feel pressured to do things with my friend instead.
If I can’t make the hang-out due to plans, I will always try and suggest an alternative date a few days in the future or when I’m next available. He usually responds in a way which makes me feel bad, but I can’t help being busy and I really hoped he’d have realised by now that it would be easier if we planned things in advance. The thing that really tipped me over the edge with it is that he text me at 8am on a Saturday asking me if I wanted to meet up. I dunno if it’s me who has the issue, but I just find it to be inconsiderate and not maintainable in my life. It reminds me of the sort of thing my friends and I would text each other when we were teenagers, but I feel like as we’re adults now there should be a bit of notice.
I do care about him a lot but I don’t think he would handle it well if I was to try and discuss this with him. He also has a tendency to be unreliable, such as texting 10 mins before a meet-up that he will be 30 mins late, or cancelling altogether. The worst example of this was when we had agreed to a road trip at like 10am, then I woke up at 8am to a text from him to say he’d already left because he woke up early and was bored (this was a few years ago now but still).
I just want to know if I’m being unfair expecting notice for plans. I get that it’s fun to hang-out spontaneously sometimes but when it’s every time, I just end up getting annoyed about it. Am I the asshole?

2023.04.01 12:17 Bleuowl12 How does my 1 1/2 day Kamakura Itinerary look? Any suggestions or critiques?

Hey all,
I'll be traveling to Kamakura tommorow for the first time and was looking for some feedback on my itinerary. This is my first time in Japan, so apologies if it seems rough or doesn't make much sense. My sense of time isn't the best so let me know if this is unrealistic. Also, if there's anything I'm missing that you'd reccomend then please let me know!
Day 1:
Leave Airbnb around 7:00 AM, walk to konbini and grab breakfast. Then, visit Moto Hachiman and Yakumo shrine on the way to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.
Visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, then head towards Hokokuji temple. Consider checking out Sugimotodera and/or Jomyoji, then head to start of Tenen trail (I've heard you can either start from Zuisen-ji or Myoou-in, any thoughts?)
Hike Tenen trail, stopping partway through to take a break and snack
After finishing trail, stop at Hansobo shrine and Kencho-ji (I've also heard good things about Meigetsuin and Engakuji, would those be better?), then head to Kita-Kamakura station and take train to Kamakura station.
Walk around Komachi street to visit stores/street food and grab lunch, then go back to Airbnb for an hour or two and rest.
Then, walk back to Kamakura station and take Enoden train to Enoshima. Walk over bridge and up Enoshima main street to Enoshima shrine (anything else you'd suggest on Enoshima?)
Take train back to Kamakura, grab dinner then head back to Airbnb.
Day 2:
Leave Airbnb around 5:30 AM, walk to konbini and grab breakfast, then grab train from Kamakura station to Kita-Kamakura station.
Hike Daibutsu trail to Kuzuharaoka Shrine, then walk to Genjiyama park to take a break and eat.
Walk to Sasuke Inari Shrine, then continue hiking the rest of the Daibutsu trail
Walk to Kotoku-in (I assume it'll be 8:00 AM by then?), then visit Hasedera
Walk to Hase station, consider stopping by Goryo shrine on the way.
Take train/walk back to and check out of Airbnb, then depart Kamakura
This is the first stop on my first trip to Japan, so I'm still learning how to plan things, but I nevertheless want my visit to Kamakura to be great. Again, any help would be super appreciated! Thanks in advance

2023.04.01 12:16 marimuthu96 Dedicated to everyone who is facing a hard day

Hello guys,
We all have days when we feel angry and sad for some reason. Though our present maybe good, we sit down and bring ourselves down by remembering every little thing that went against us in our past. I wrote this poem during one such day.
THERE ARE THOSE DAYS
There are those days when motivation abandons you
To the claws of negative emotions such as envy and rage,
Even before you wake up, you are hit with a sense of blue
Imprisoning your optimistic soul into a wide-open cage.
Simple things like smiling feel like lifting enormous bars
Books and friends suddenly are helpless to prevent your sinking ship,
Every conversation successfully brings back your long-lost scars
Even your favourite upbeat playlist makes the self-esteem to dip.
You feel worthless despite achieving things that made you proud
And you hurt yourself mentally by thinking made-up trash,
Meeting a single person is like interacting with a huge crowd
Just replying to a hello is enough to cause your mental crash.
You feel like shutting the door and sheading pointless tears of sorrow
Even though your life is perfect with caring parents and friends,
You think about every little thing that can go wrong tomorrow
And scare yourself to oblivion about life’s invisible bends.
I battle with such sapping days more often than I let you know
But those days surprisingly bring me something positive and good,
My mind is a strange machine, it milks something useful out of woe
The lack of optimism is strangely the trigger to my writing mood.
If you are reading this poem, oh my loveable people who care
Just know that I had a tough day at the demanding office of life,
And I ranted and cried and fought fiercely with my mental bear
And survived unscathed from another moment of strife.
As I said in this poem, I produce poetry when I'm sad/angry/disappointed about myself or the world around me. This has been my version of a psychologist for more than five years now. Whenever I feel hopeless, worthless, angry, sad or disappointed, I open up an empty word document and pour it all out. How do you deal with such days?

2023.04.01 12:16 RobinWuzz “I truly believe that Rakuten Mobile can surpass the big three mobile carriers in Japan and I believe that its success is the most effective way to dramatically grow your business”

A mobile future for e-commerce: Mikitani at New Year Conference
18 hours ago
t the Rakuten New Year Conference each January, Rakuten chairman and CEO Mickey Mikitani takes to the stage to share his vision for the future of the e-commerce and tech industries.
This year, Mikitani had one core message for the 30,000 Rakuten Ichiba marketplace merchants and stakeholders tuning in: Mobile!
Mobile matters more than ever
“In 2006, back when we were still using flip phones,” Mikitani reminisced, “I spoke at this very conference about how we needed to focus on Mobile! Mobile! Mobile! At a time when mobile sales made up basically 0% of our GMS (gross merchandise sales), I predicted that it would reach as high as 70% in the future.”
This prediction was fulfilled – and quickly surpassed.
“On this past New Year’s Day, 89.3% of total GMS came through mobile. What this means is that mobile is no longer just our main source of revenue: It’s becoming nearly all of our revenue.”
“THE WHOLE WORLD CALLED THIS A PIPE DREAM, BUT WE DID IT. AND OUR SOFTWARE IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY OPEN SOURCE – SOMETHING UNHEARD OF IN THE TELECOM SPACE.”
MICKEY MIKITANI, CHAIRMAN & CEO, RAKUTEN GROUP
For the 2023 conference, Mikitani deployed a new but familiar rallying cry: Mobile! Mobile! Mobile! Mobile!
“As you have no doubt read in the news, we are currently undertaking a new challenge in the form of Rakuten Mobile,” he reminded the conference. “But we are not trying to create just another mobile carrier like Softbank, au or Docomo. We are creating another enormous new platform to add to the Rakuten Ecosystem.”
Trailblazing, software-centric telecommunications
Powering its ambitious journey to become Japan’s fourth major mobile carrier is Rakuten Mobile’s adoption of a strong focus on cutting-edge software-based solutions – a pioneering approach that is sparking a transformation in the hardware-heavy telecom industry.
“The technology we have developed is simply unparalleled,” Mikitani explained with both pride and excitement. “Traditionally, mobile networks have always needed giant network hardware equipment from the likes of Huawei and Nokia. We’ve actually changed all of that to operate solely with software.”
The ambitious plan attracted its fair share of skeptics, but Mikitani believes the results speak for themselves, “The whole world called this a pipe dream, but we did it. And our software is becoming increasingly open source – something unheard of in the telecom space.”
This trailblazing network architecture has allowed Rakuten to provide a truly unlimited service at just a fraction of the cost of other networks. Mikitani revealed that subscribers of other carriers averaged just 9.3GB of data usage per month, compared to Rakuten Mobile’s 18.4GB.
“That is how we’ve achieved this extraordinarily fair and accessible plan – 2,980 yen no matter how much data you use. A mobile plan for the 100-gigabyte age,” he declared. “By freeing consumers from these extremely expensive, ludicrous mobile plans, we hope they’ll become fans of Rakuten Group and Rakuten Ichiba and choose to use our services.”
Rakuten Mobile empowering growth on Rakuten Ichiba and beyond
“The Rakuten Ecosystem consists of Rakuten Ichiba in the center, with services like Rakuten Card, Rakuten Securities and Rakuten Bank surrounding it as supporting pillars. And the strongest of these pillars will be Rakuten Mobile.”
“RAKUTEN IS THE ONE PLATFORM THAT CONTINUES TO GROW. THE MAIN REASON FOR THIS IS OUR ECOSYSTEM, AND THE STRONGEST PILLAR OF THIS ECOSYSTEM IS RAKUTEN MOBILE.”
Mikitani cautioned the merchants and stakeholders at the conference not to dismiss Rakuten Mobile as a separate undertaking, unrelated to Rakuten’s other businesses.
“This is all part of a plan to build an ecosystem that’s stronger than anything that has existed before,” he explained. “This is our strategy to boost GMS growth for everyone here and the biggest takeaway should be that this growth is closely intertwined with the success of Rakuten Mobile.”
Mikitani laid out his vision to grow Rakuten’s domestic e-commerce revenue to 10 trillion yen by 2030. Rakuten Mobile, he told the conference, would serve as a major pillar in this plan.
“Right now, domestic e-commerce GMS for Rakuten Group has reached 5.6 trillion yen,” he reported. “I believe that Rakuten Mobile will contribute around 2 trillion to this goal.”
Mikitani’s reasoning is simple: “Rakuten Mobile customers are buying more and more on Rakuten Ichiba. That means that as Rakuten Mobile subscriber numbers grow, so will your GMS.”
It’s more than just a hunch: Mikitani demonstrated the magnitude of this effect with hard data.
“WHEN USERS SIGN UP FOR RAKUTEN MOBILE, ON AVERAGE THEY’RE USING 4.5 RAKUTEN SERVICES. ONE YEAR LATER, THEY’RE USING SEVEN SERVICES ON AVERAGE. THAT’S PRETTY AMAZING.”
“Subscribers purchase an average of 49% more – nearly 50% – annually compared to before joining Rakuten Mobile,” he revealed. “86% of Rakuten Mobile users shop at Rakuten Ichiba… If Rakuten Mobile reaches 15 or 20 million users, everyone’s total GMS will naturally increase by at least 50%.”
There are several factors that could be driving this phenomenon, Mikitani thinks. These include the considerable savings Rakuten Mobile subscribers enjoy, freeing up household budgets and effectively boosting disposable income.
Rakuten’s highly popular loyalty point program is also likely playing a role: Mobile subscribers enjoy a higher rate of return when shopping on Rakuten Ichiba. A similar program was implemented for users of Rakuten Card, which now handles over 70% of all transactions on the platform and has seen almost 30 million cards issued in Japan.
“We want to do the same thing with Rakuten Mobile – but on a scale several times larger.”
Rakuten Mobile is also having an exciting effect on the wider ecosystem – namely, on user engagement with multiple Rakuten services.
“When users sign up for Rakuten Mobile, on average they’re using 4.5 Rakuten services. One year later, they’re using seven services on average. That’s pretty amazing.”
Growing Rakuten’s core and the ecosystem
“Rakuten is the only company in the world that can do this because we’re not just Rakuten Ichiba, but also Rakuten Travel, Rakuten Card, Rakuten Bank, Rakuten Securities and more – all working in tandem,” Mikitani argued. “Last year, almost all major e-commerce companies in the U.S. saw decreases in market share. The same probably happened in the Japan market, but Rakuten is the one platform that continues to grow. The main reason for this is our ecosystem, and the strongest pillar of this ecosystem is Rakuten Mobile.”
Mikitani touched on the skepticism directed towards the mobile business, comparing it to that received by Rakuten’s credit card, banking and travel businesses before each turned their respective industries on their heads.
“I truly believe that Rakuten Mobile can surpass the big three mobile carriers in Japan and I believe that its success is the most effective way to dramatically grow your business,” he told the conference attendees. “Everything revolves around a core. That core is Rakuten Ichiba. It’s our heart, and it makes it possible for us to continue to grow.”

2023.04.01 12:16 Cran-Quartz Utilising album CDs

So I have a few albums now, and before, when I got a new album I would download the songs onto my pc then put them on my phone. When I got a new phone however and went to move my songs across, I realised I had 3 GB of songs to move, and it would pretty quickly make my phone storage's days numbered.
Now I'm wondering is there any way to use/download/save the songs I have on CD on my phone without crippling my phone storage? I know I could use spotify but I don't have premium, and the point is listening to the songs I have in album form because my reason for getting them was picking albums I liked enough to have available all the time.

2023.04.01 12:15 DougiedoubleD just recieved my order! Ordered on 15th March.

just recieved my order! Ordered on 15th March.
I want to say a lot of stuff that sat on me these couple weeks, First of all the popcorn is fire and super tasty but cant say anything for effects as I just aet them.
What I wanted to say is my popcorn landed with no customer service help, I messaged them a few days after I placed my order to find out where it was and they just red through it and ignored it, Well for sure I can say their legit and I knew it from the start as I ordered from here before but the customer service has gone down a slope, Pretty disappointed with the people who work there but the quality is still there for the product.
I was to scared to buy alot of items and only got popcorn as my last ordereds always got messed up and just cant be asked with it, My review tho, Popcorn bangs can feel it come in while typing.

2023.04.01 12:15 _UA_ My Onyx Max Boox Lumi:: revived back to life!!

Pictures for reference are at the bottom**
Since my previous post where I successfully opened the back of the Max Lumi - I ordered a replacement battery from AliExpress.
Battery arrived recently, and with the following tools: - Soldering iron - Double-sided tape + Scissors + Tweezer
... I was able to disconnect the old battery's wires which were soldered to the motherboard, and then eventually connect the new battery on.
Then I snapped the metal back-plate back on, turned on the power button - and had the happiest grin ever on my face when she came back to life!
Some notes: - The replacement battery I ordered from AliExpress was priced at £6.87 at time of purchase, but with shipping fees and taxes I paid in total £18.79 for this
Altogether, this was a fun little experience, and resulted in returning back to life a brilliant device.
I'll learn from my earlier mistake and ensure I keep my Max Lumi well used and charged.
Some pictures for reference.
