Hey everyone!
I have recently upgraded from an old 4th gen i5 to an 5800X3D because I got it for cheap making it a good value even if its on AM4. It is paired with an also quite old GTX 1070 that will be upgraded soon.
Now I‘m currently trying XP12 (12.05r1) for an upgrade and to get an idea of the performance of my system did a few FPS Benchmarks using the default 737 recoding and the —fps_test option. The GPU comparison google docs tells me that on fps_test=1 I could expect around 90-95ps (measured by „brett s“ or „approbatojunior“). While these measurements are done with newer GPUs, I know from ingame data that on minimal settings (all sliders left) I am fully CPU bound. So for fps_test=1 the GPU should not matter for 1080p.
However I can only manage 80 fps which is quite the difference. This is noticeable with the higher settings fps tests (e.g. fps_test=5 47 vs. 58) as well as ingame. Although there the GPU is taxed I am still bound by the CPU as I can see ingame from the frame times. (BTW does someone know why the —verbose option does not seem to work in XP12?)
I have tested the following: 1. Cooling, no throttling observed, at least one core is always boosted to 4.4-4.5 Ghz in XP12, temps below 80°C all the time, average 74°C. 2. PBO optimization (-30) gave me 3 fps from 77 to 88. 3. Power balanced/high performance and AMD chipset drivers 4. Process Lasso prioritization, SMT off 5. Threaded Optimization off/on (tbh I don‘t know if that is a thing anymore).
Does anyone have an idea?

2023.06.03 23:04 Syn246 Looking for a new core build (CPU + MB + RAM only, $2K or less) to replace an outgoing 5930K setup. Gaming & data/ML development use.
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I have two main use cases:
- Gaming (various games, but currently Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, Valorant, etc.)
- AI/ML/data-related software development including ML model training, data visualization dashboard development, & database development with varying data set sizes (specific software currently is MS SQL, Python, Tableau Desktop, Power BI).
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
$2000 or less is ideal, for a core build only (CPU + motherboard + at least 32GB of RAM).
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Within 1-2 weeks.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
CPU + motherboard + RAM. Existing build parts will be used for everything else.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
USA Midwest; no local access to a Microcenter without spending more $ on gas than any potential cost savings.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
GPU = RTX 3090; main storage drive = Samsung 970 NVMe so I'll need at least 20 PCIe lanes (16 for GPU + 4 for main SSD); PSU = Antec HCP 1300W Platinum; CPU cooler = 280mm AIO liquid cooler but I can't recall the specific brand/model # (I will buy a new one separate from this $2K budget if required); case = Corsair 760T; monitors = Acer XB1 (2560x1440 165Hz G-Sync) + Acer X34 (3440x1440 100hz G-Sync) at all times, + also sometimes my LG 65" OLED TV running console-esque games @ 1440p (rarely done).
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
Yes. I will overclock the CPU as far as the silicon lottery allows while maintaining reliability (I have plenty of past experience overclocking Intel CPUs, but not so much with AMD).
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
As much overall processing throughput as I can get within my budget, so as to speed up machine learning model training during overnight/off-hours when the system is not actively in use by me for generic use and/or gaming.
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
Wired for sure, but integrated mobo wireless would be a nice backup (not a dealbreaker by any means though).
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
N/A -- reusing my existing case (Corsair 760T as noted above).
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Not needed.
Extra info or particulars:
I am replacing the guts of my existing build (i7 5930K OC @ 4.6ghz, MSI X99S SLI Krait Edition MB, & 16GB Corsair DDR4 2666mhz RAM). I tend to prioritize spending a bit more for a very high-quality motherboard that supports stable overclocking regardless of my CPU choice. I've got limited experience with AMD CPUs or their overclocking in recent history, but plenty of experience with Intel. I am definitely a bit biased towards Intel at the moment but I'm willing to look at AMD if the cost:benefit fits my two needs. From cursory searching, the Intel 13900KF and/or AMD 7800X3D caught my eye, but I've been out of the loop on core component builds for several years at this point.
Thanks so much in advance!

2023.06.03 20:52 Re_vess VSCode installation tutorial with Termux-x11
I will start with things that I am still fixing to get working:
- Jupyter Notebooks dont work, most likely due to there being no systemd.
- Scaling of the UI, it is still quite small (menubar and browser).
- S-pen support.
Currently, I am running a Samsung Galaxy Tab s8+ with Dex that I am slowly trying to make my daily driver for all my tasks, note-taking, slide annotations and coding on the go. This has been quite the journey, full of debugging, but it is an amazing feeling to run small Neural Networks in PyTorch on such a versatile device. I will try to maintain this post with any improvements and updates that I can do. And special thanks to
u/parkerlreed for helping debugging termux-x11 spen support (still not working).
This tutorial works for the following os and might not work for everyone: Samsung OneUI 5.1 + Android 13.
Download the following versions of termux and termux-x11:
Primary setup - Follow this tutorial to disable the Phantom Process Killer, otherwise Termux will keep automatically closing.
- Install Termux and run the following lines of code:
pkg update pkg upgrade pkg install nano proot-distro x11-repo termux-setup-storage
Termux-x11 - Edit the following file and uncomment allow-external
nano .termux/termux.properties
- Unzip the companion packages and run the following:
pkg install ./storage/downloads/termux-x11-[VERSION]-all.deb
- Setup a start and stop file to run the display:
touch ./xstart.sh touch ./xstop.sh
Then add the following to the xstart.sh:
#!/bin/bash export DISPLAY=:0 termux-x11 :0 & proot-distro login ubuntu --user [USER] --shared-tmp
And the following to
xstop.sh:
#!/bin/bash kill termux-x11
Now install the termux.apk app. You can open it. When using long press on the app set the input style to trackpad (makes it easier to navigate the small icons.
Proot-distro First install ubuntu and login:
proot-distro install ubuntu proot-distro login ubuntu
Now you will be running as root but before creating a user lets update:
apt update apt upgrade apt install nano sudo wget git
Create the user:
passwd groupadd storage groupadd wheel groupadd video useradd -m -g users -G wheel, audio, video, storage -s /bin/bash [USER] passwd [USER] visudo
Then add the following line after root ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
[USER] root ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
Then save and exit the distro
Start the distro, or run the xstart.sh file:
proot-distro login ubuntu --user [USER] --shared-tmp
Install a window manager and a xorg:
sudo apt install xorg openbox
Install Chromium (or another browser, but you will need one for later):
sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AndronixApp/AndronixOrigin/masteUninstall/ubchromiumfix.sh && bash ubchromiumfix.sh
Now edit the .bashrc and add the following lines:
export DISPLAY=:0 openbox-session & export BROWSER='/usbin/chromium --no-sandbox'
You could go ahead and edit the following settings of openbox in ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml, at any point you see a font size set it to something like 24, this will make your window manager at least somewhat useable.
Install Code + Miniconda First lets download miniconda from
here, just get the latest aarch64 build.
Then run the following from your proot distro:
sudo sh /sdcard/Downloads/Miniconda-[VERSION].sh
Then keep pressing enter until the EULA is finished, type yes, pres enter once. THEN DONT PRESS ANYTHING. And write 'yes' when prompted. Then reload your bash:
source ~/.bashrc
And Conda is installed!
Now when you're in the terminal make Main your git's default branch since it is the new standard:
git config --global init.defaultBranch main
Now VSCode, download it from
here (again arm64) and install it with:
sudo dpkg -i /sdcard/Downloads/code-[VERSION].deb
It will most likely not work instantly lets fix that:
sudo apt --fix-broken install
And try the dpkg command again.
Then to make life easy create the following sh file:
touch code.sh nano code.sh
With contents:
#!/bin/bash code --no-sandbox &
And that is it, to run VSCode from the start use the following:
- Open Termux and Termux-x11
- Run the following command
sh ./xstart.sh
- When you are in proot run:
sh ./code.sh
And that is it, to leave just type exit in proot and sh ./xstop.sh in termux.
Syncing your Github account with VS Code will work since you already have a browser installed, with some patience and using the Local open when signing in it will all work out.
If there are any edits recommendations or fixes that I should know of or add to this tutorial please let me know and I will update this post.

2023.06.03 19:59 XulfRetsam Tips on First Build High End Gaming PC
Hello there!
I am looking to build my first PC, for the first time. I have opened PCs before and changed components, I have a decent knowledge of IT in general but never actually assembled one on my own.
I wanted to ask for some humble opinions or tips on my first build. Basically it revolves around a Gigabyte RTX 4090 that I just ordered (hoping it arrives and not just a brick lol).
The CPU, I am undecided between I7-13700k or I9-13900k, more inclined on the first, since I heard stock temps are better and performs almost the same as the I9.
I would use it for Gaming mainly, VR, and maybe some AI and Stable Diffusion.
I am unsure of the RAM, so I found a similar build that used the one below. I also read about some brackets needed for the CPU? Is it necessary for the I7?
Any tip on this would be highly appreciated. I'd prefer to not set the house on fire or damage any of these fairly expensive pieces XD

2023.06.03 19:35 NoReply4930 PureFibre/TV Portal (TELUSTV-21T) Review from new Telus Customer
For those thinking about switching to PureFibre and/or considering the new TelusTV-21T portal - here’s my modest little update from a modest family home perspective here in NW Calgary.
We had our Purefibre "lit up" last weekend and working closely with Josh in here - finally received our TV Portals which I was very excited to get working on.
The Good
The PureFibre is excellent – great connectivity – everything feels solid and reliable. The tech installed a nice bridged ONT for me allowing a seamless transition (for my ASUS router) from our old Shaw Bluecurve to Purefibre - basically plug and play.
TV Portals - installed in our two main rooms. Setup was a snap and I was able to get our standard streaming apps in play quickly.
The Bad
The TV portion of our new package leaves me quite a bit less enthusiastic and I am not sure if it’s simply too early or something else that is rubbing me the wrong way.
Firstly, a key clarification – for any actual streaming apps installed on the TELUSTV-21T (Netflix, Crave, Plex etc) – the sound and audio are virtually identical to the same "smart" apps that were installed natively on our two Samsung TVs. Audio/Video is sharp, room filling and excellent.
However for Live TV - I instantly realized that these new portal boxes are not actually doing any old school A/V processing – rather it’s more like a modern Roku type device running the Android TV OS and what I am really looking at here (for Live TV) is a well-hidden default view of the Telus TV+ app.
In the early going yesterday - I found the standard TV package channels (the 4K channels excepted) to rank anywhere from moderately passable to downright standard def in some cases. Some quick A/B compares with SportsNet and TSN and especially channels that I thought should easily look decent like CTV Calgary (102) for the news yesterday went from sorta sharp to blurry to back again and then washed out again all in a 5-minute span while watching the 6pm news – making this generally annoying.
At times I could literally see the oozing pixelation/channel compression and could almost feel like the network was straining (sorta wheezing) to try to “lock in and focus” the CTV network stream properly as the program went on. It was the same for the Blue Jays/Mets game on the HD Sportsnet West channel. To be fair - the 4K version of this game looked awesome – but sounded like crap – the volume on the 4K channel dropped down by at least 4 or 5 db.
This portal also leaves a LOT to be desired (vs Shaw) on ANY sort of A/V/Performance/Options where you can tweak the presentation to your specific setup. The Telus Portal settings are devoid of almost any key settings and simply acts as passthru for whatever video and audio a specific channel is delivering.
My understanding is that the audio on most (if not all) these channels is supposed to be Dolby Digital (5.1) at least – but pretty much all of them sound like a bad stereo fold down where dialog does not actually come out “focused and centered” on my either of my multichannel speaker systems (JBL BAR 5.1 and Marantz SR5015 AVR) with any real clarity on specific channels (like CNN) where you would expect the dialog to be centered and clear. It’s hard to describe but the Shaw box has this beat on multiple several levels.
I also was dumbfounded when I was asked to associate a “Google” acct with the Portal so I could get access to the Play Store to get some additional streaming apps in play.
Now – one would have thought that the new Google accts that get created when we activated our new Telus.net email accounts would have done the trick but it turns out that these Google accts have been stunted (managed by Telus) and had many normal Google acct features stripped away – like the all important access to the Play Store – so I had to get creative and create a new “real” family Google acct so we could get these things moving forward.
Just another unknown tripwire that could have been better communicated – especially since it feels so obvious that someone (who is not all that familiar with "required" Google acct capability - like me) might just want to - you know - use a new Telus.net Google acct for a “new” Telus install.
The only (slight) upside is that TV viewing ranks a distant second here when compared with streaming. But that might not be enough for me to justify the overall package value.
Now – I know it is very early and this initial feedback seems angular. Perhaps I was expecting too much, got too excited, thought this was a Shaw killer etc etc. Maybe it’s my internal ethernet LAN ports at the TV Portal points (VERY doubtful) or something else mysterious going on but given the apparent build quality of these boxes – AND the PureFibre delivery pipe - my TV experience SHOULD (at least) resemble the quality Telus and Shaw delivered back in the Motorola/DC3200 coax days where the hardware served an actual processing purpose to ensure every channel was sharp, audio was clear, loud and standard and this sort of feedback was non-existent.
While I totally understand that the “app” revolution where we are at – right now this Telus TV+ app is not even close to any semblance of the “old days”.
Final thoughts - given the hype factor of this fibre rollout, the damage/hassle of our yards getting trashed last summer AND the (generally positive) potential for this specific 21-T device - I really was ready for much better and I am now honestly uneasy about this transition considering all of the work, install, hassle factor with Shaw and so on that we went thru to get to this point.
I sent Josh this same feedback this morning - hope to hear his take on my observations - but for anyone else out there who has recently made the switch - are you seeing a variation on the above? Better than the above? Worse than the above?
Any other tips, tricks or intel from the field would be appreciated.
Cheers
NR

2023.06.03 19:14 tnagg CMV: almost all people are immorally selfish and shortsighted except those tiny minority who contribute to the future of their community and the future of humanity
Basically, I believe almost all people are acting in a net harmful way to the future of the community (whether that be your local community or humanity as a whole), except those who through their jobs or in another way serve the common good.
I have the following premises:
We have so advanced technology and relative freedom in the western world now that everyone is having the possibility of much larger externalities on the world, both negative and positive than ever before. In other words, people have the choice to do harm or good.
Regardless of all positive externalities, the world is in grave danger of becoming significantly worse because of these negative externalities. Examples include (no particular order):
- slow extinction of liberal democracies
- socially harmful media winning over socially beneficial ones
- anti-intellectualism and stupidity winning over science (e.g. anti-nuclear sentiment winning over the Western world)
- extreme inequality growing by automation
- increased global tension resulting in vicious power plays that disregard local interests, predictably leading to wars
- irreversible toxicity from various chemicals (causing e.g. male infertility)
- climate change
- The preservation of valuable things against the above dangers can be framed as public goods. Generally all these public goods like democracy, moral values, activism, intellectual integrity, honesty, healthy phisical enviroment, international respect and cooperation, are doomed to decline unless people do extra work to preserve these.
- Therefore, one who does nothing extra to preserve these public goods (and still participates in society, thus contributes to the externalities that cause this harm) have a net negative effect on these. This is, I think, like 95% of all people.
- Being one of these 95% of people who do not contribute to the common good but rather have a negative effect on it, is short-sighted but more importantly selfish and thus unethical.
- Therefore, only a small class of people are ethical. Examples may include:
- small class of public intellectuals, activists, some subset of scientists, journalists who frame the conscientious public discourse
- people who fulfill both of the following criteria: A. work on products or projects that are clearly and universally thought beneficial (especially nonprofits, but also for-profits if the profit motive does not take over the social benefits of their product) AND B. actively protest when they would be pressured into a situation where their principles are violated
Note that
- I am specifically talking about selfishness vs altruism in terms of future of society/humanity and externalities and I ignore other aspects of selfishness vs altruism that may not have a large effect on our future
- I do not claim that anyone who acts altruistically has a positive effect (they might have a negative effect if what they advocate or work for is harmful), I am only claiming that if you are not acting in an altruistic manner regarding important public goods for the future (again, I think, over 90% of people), you are surely hurting humanity's future
--------
EDIT 03/06/23 20:48 UTC:
I realize that if you are ignorant or poor or have serious family problems you have an excuse for not contributing to the common good and you might still be a good person otherwise, but I believe this only covers 15-20% of people in Western societies, so the rest of the people are not good enough if they do not contribute to the common good.

2023.06.03 19:04 thesyncopater2_0 Looking for feedback on this Build
Looking for some feedback on my second build. It’s my first liquid cooling build and I’m giving some more priority on aesthetics. I’m ready for a new build (last build was 2014) but I’m not thrilled about the current generation of GPUs and am planning to upgrade in the future.
The feeling is get from the Reddit communities is that this generation of GPUs (nvidia especially) don’t quite offer much improvement from the previous generation. I’d like to wait around for some shift on this front but the time is ripe in my life for a build and there’s still no guarantee the state of affairs will improve. For this reason I’ve selected a somewhat underpowered card with the intention to upgrade at some point in the PC’s life. For this same reason I’ve overpowered the power supply to be able to handle whatever future may come.
Aside from the card situation, I appreciate thoughtful feedback on the mobo. I’ve been hearing bad things across the board from these companies (security issues, bad company practices etc) but I suspect they all have some sort of downside. I picked Asus because my last build used it and I had no issues.
Any comments on compatibility or mismatches in performance between components is very welcome. Known performance issues with any specific model is also excellent. I’ve allowed comments on the pcpartpicker list.

2023.06.03 18:54 Parzival1127 Early Legend using Big Beast Hunter
I went from the bottom of the rank floor to playing exclusively big hunter. I played the VS Renethal List from bronze to diamond 5 going 25-5 where I then couldn't win a game so switched to a deck from top decks where I proceeded to climb very easily from
D5-Legend 20-5, 80% WR big hunter
Class: Hunter
Format: Standard
Year of the Wolf
2x (1) Bunch of Bananas
2x (1) Thornmantle Musician
1x (1) Trinket Tracker
2x (1) Vicious Slitherspear
1x (2) Astalor Bloodsworn
2x (2) Barrel of Monkeys
2x (2) Conjured Arrow
2x (2) Selective Breeder
2x (2) Spirit Poacher
1x (3) Halduron Brightwing
2x (3) Wild Spirits
1x (4) Pozzik, Audio Engineer
2x (5) Star Power
2x (6) Hollow Hound
1x (6) Hope of Quel'Thalas
2x (7) Faithful Companions
1x (7) Hydralodon
1x (8) Stranglethorn Heart
1x (9) King Krush
AAECAR8I4Z8E57kEsJIFsJMFqqQF4qQF9MgF0/gFC+rpA4iyBMzkBNDkBKeQBa6kBebKBY/kBfPyBeT1BdL4BQAA
To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
Intro This deck feels extremely strong with the addition of Hollow Hound allowing you to heal 9+ and stabilize. Unlike the renethal version of this deck, it feels good to play king krush and not lose games because you drew him. This deck cuts the naga package of arrow smith, barbed nets, and school teacher in return for the arcane and selective breeder package which I found to be entirely more consistent than a measly 2/3 that struggled to control the board against tokens early game and became utterly useless late game.
Gameplan Against aggro: You try to selective breeder hollow hounds that will allow you to heal all their early game aggro and simply win the game through board presence. Using conjured arrow early, the wildseed package, hollow hound, faithful companions (to get hollow hounds out turn 7 if needed) and barrel of monkeys (THE MOST OP CARD IN THE DECK) you can out control an aggro deck including T1 decks like frost dk and pure paladin.
Against Control: I find myself selective breeding multiple king krushes in able to kill them off for a finisher using stranglethorn heart. This deck also has huge early game using trinket tracker, vicious slitherspear, bunch of bananas, and spirit poacher. Enough so that you can easily end games turn 7 with the help of pozzik as well.
Notable Matchups BBB XL - Was able to save up King Krushes throughout the game to play a strong finisher and kill them through double vampiric blood. Game will go to fatigue. Always trade stranglethorn heart to draw late game.
Pure Paladin- Barrel of Monkeys (THE MOST OP CARD IN THIS DECK) and Hollow Hound would allow me to consistently win board while healing my hero and preventing damage for easy wins.
Control Priest - Easiest matchup there is. Same thing as blood dk, they don't have much on you. They normally waste the light it burns on smaller minions and die to bigger minions too.
druid I didn't face a single druid, I think drum would've been hard though.
Mirror Matchup - just early aggro and use hollow hound to stabilize against their early aggro. Hydraloon creates big boards the deck struggles to deal with to make early lethals.
Mulligan Going first:
Thornmantle musician, selective breeder, spirit poacher, barrel of monkeys, and trinket tracker are all keeps. Barrel of monkeys allows you to cheese out early board domination that your opponent can't deal with. Spirit poacher is a solid turn 2 play that is kinda RNG heavy but most options are usually good I did hate getting the rush minion against DK though. Even then trading for early board was still very useful and all options are good.
Going second:
The mulligan is about the same but coin opens up some earlier options for you except I would now keep wild spirits. Coining out spirit poacher is amazing getting an early wildseed down especially if you highroll the weapon wins you games singlehandedly. Trinket tracker into coin bunch of bananas turn 1 is very strong especially against dks so they can't hero power and trade your 1/1 t2. You just have to play to stabilize board when going second when going first allows you to aggro down your opponent more consistently.

2023.06.03 17:31 wilzxsunwileseason Gaming Build with 7800X3D & RTX 4090. 4000 USD Budget.
Greetings! Thank you for reading. Any help is appreciated!
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- For a friend, who hopes to play graphically demanding AAA games smoothly in 3440 x 1440 175Hz, with Ultra settings and perhaps ray tracing.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
- Main Tower: 4,000 USD
- No peripherals or monitors needed for now.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
- The main tower only. No OS, peripherals, or monitors needed for now.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
- Hong Kong, no Microcenter, but we have similar retailers that provide similar products and services.
- Parts are mostly available here, but prices might differ from where you live. Please feel free to share your ideal list disregarding the local prices since they fluctuate a bit. The current budget covers this and is flexible.
- The current build costs around 4,200 USD in my area, but purchasing locally is quite necessary due to warranty restrictions, since most if not all products will not be eligible for support if I purchase them overseas. The adjusted 4,000 USD budget is based on the US prices.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
- All parts except the main tower is ready.
- Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW
- Keyboard: Logitech G G913 LIGHTSPEED
- Mouse: Logitech G G903 LIGHTSPEED (with POWERPLAY)
- SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen4x4 M.2 2280, for OS
- SSD: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280, for general storage
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
- Yes. Minor adjustments for both the CPU and GPU to squeeze out some extra performance. Efficiency and acoustics are more important. Might tinker slightly with guides and tools. Have basic understanding but not really looking to push anything to the extreme.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- Looking to have 2 2TB M.2 SSD, one for system, applications, and games, and one for general storage, which both are ready.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- Looking for a large case with good noise isolation, maybe one with an emphasis on low noise levels. Low-noise cooling solutions. White or light grey case and parts are preferred. No fancy lighting required, but won't mind if customizable and tasteful.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
Extra info or particulars:
- Looking for the max performance out of the budget, but also trying to push for a mostly-white build to a certain degree. Aiming for a balance setup that would work well together, and parts that doesn't push too far into the diminishing returns territory.
- Aiming for 64GB RAM since my friend often multitasks and uses plenty of browser tabs for reference.
- Planning to include CableMod 12VHPWR 180 Degree Angled Adapter – Variant B, CableMod Pro ModMesh 12VHPWR Cable Extension Kit, and Noctua NA-SEC1/3 chromax.black (fan extension cables), which together will cost about 100 USD.
- Admittedly this build might be a bit of an overkill, but my friend is splurging a little bit as a treat.
Draft of Potential Build:

- AMD 7800X3D is selected for the relatively lower TDP and good gaming performance. From my understanding, an updated BIOS would greatly lower the risk of the CPU failings recently reported.
