The land in this area is underlain by a layer of limestone, eroded and dissolved by rainwater and groundwater to form caverns, holes, and tunnels. This type of terrain is called "karst" and results in many geological features such as wet sinkholes, depressions, natural bridges and a disappearing stream. The hikers can either hike the 3.6-mile Sinkhole Trail to view the numerous sinkholes and geological features, or the 2.8-mile Gum Swamp Trail around a cypress and gum swamp. 2023.03.30 18:54 xemera13 advice for a heartbroken friend
I apologize for how long this may be, but I need help. First, some background:
I have a friend my age (around 24-25) who was in a relationship for two years with a girl (a year or two younger than him) and they would break up and get back together multiple times until finally one day person A broke up with my friend B. He would call and call and she would ignore his texts or would say she is fine meeting up and talking later on in the day, but then wouldn’t text him back for a week. So B thought they would get back together—as they always did—and went 9 months isolating himself, without hanging out with friends or seeing anyone else, in fear A would find out and be even more mad at him for moving on and block him for good. B was madly in love with A and didn’t want that to happen.
It was a very sad and toxic situation but after 9 months, B found out from an old friend of A that A cheated on B throughout their entire relationship, and lied and gaslit him. During their relationship, A would ask to look through B’s phone to see if B was hiding anything, and he would gladly give it to her, but when B would ask to see A’s phone, she would say “we shouldn’t have to do that.” Just one example of how manipulative she was among many.
When B found out everything and saw all of the texts and videos that proved A was a lying cheat, he confronted A and A immediately went into victim mode & did a complete 180. Now instead of B being the one to text her everyday asking to get back together, A was the one texting B everyday asking to get back together.
Now it’s been a year of her texting B and asking for forgiveness and B doesn’t trust her nor wants to ever get back together, but he doesn’t want to stop talking to her. When I asked B why he doesn’t just block A on everything and cut her off completely, he says he knows A would be sad if he cut her off and it would make him sad knowing he was the reason why they don’t talk.
She ruined him, sent him to therapy (which didn’t work and he stopped going), and traumatized him so terribly that he doesn’t see him ever getting better. He finds it impossible. B doesn’t understand how someone could be so “evil” (his words). B was upset that he spent 9 months isolating himself and not living his life because he had hopes she would come back. And he wants to live his life but is sad and depressed every day because the events of his heartbreak replay every day in his head on repeat and if he tries to think about something else, it is still there in the back of his head constantly.
So the part that affects me and what I need help with:
I met B about a month before he found out the truth, and we started hanging out around the same time he DID find out. Over a year, he and I developed feelings for each other and he told me everything. I’ve only shared about 10% compared to the whole story, but I can confidently say that she has ruined him and shattered his soul beyond repair.
I also have my own mental health issues to figure out, and one of those traits I have from MY personal trauma is I have a hard time empathizing with others/I don’t know how to cheer someone up. This has led to B and I getting into arguments and he tells me “why can’t you help me? Why don’t you talk to me?” And I want to so badly tell him what he wants to hear, but I can’t. I don’t know why, but every piece of advice I tell him is either too optimistic and unrealistic or it doesn’t make sense.
Based on everything I’ve said, is there ANY piece of advice I can give my friend. I’m not expecting life altering, perspective shifting words. Just something so he understands that I understand his pain, and want him to get better. I’ve already suggested he go back to therapy but he says none of his therapists can fix him.

Advice [link] [comments]
2023.03.30 18:53 Lost-One-9542 Survivors … I need some advice …
A couple of years ago I lost my virginity to rape… but I have always blamed myself because I did not fight back & always questioned whether or not he understood consent … but I think he did … the first thing women say when an encounter is going too far is that they’re a virgin … I also cannot remember if he put on a condom that night because I checked out … I just wanted it to be over and because I knew I did something stupid I didn’t want the situation to be too painful … he had already started aggressively dry humping me like a wild animal which is what had me so afraid in the first place … I knew I didn’t go there for that & I regret even teasing in the first place & when I said I was a virgin he was just like “well you gone get this dick today” …. so I froze … I laid there lifeless & he kept going without a response from me … he started tugging at my leggings & I was able to say “I didn’t shave” but he ignored me & pulled them down anyway…Nothing that I did after trynna suggest it was going to far indicated an enthusiastic yes. I wasn’t grabbing his private parts … nada …
I did not readily identify the interaction as rape right away … but I did readily identify it as something I did not want to happen. I felt violated, dirty, and degraded. Despite this I did sleep with him the next day because I felt like I had nothing to lose … but honestly he could tell I was not into it (he brought it up — maintained contact for a week & some change before we stopped speaking — ) … he just knew I wasn’t going to stand up for myself because I didn’t previously… I basically let that man treat me like I was trash & trash me to his friends ( this I found out later ) I went to work and cried for hours the next day… and slowly fell into a depression that summer … I spent the entire year paranoid that I would run into him because I swore I was seeing his car everywhere (in retrospect think he was messing with someone in my building) … & I even ran into him once at Starbucks but I panicked grabbed my drink & walked right back out. I’m unsure if he knew where I worked off campus but I do think it’s possible someone told him. I don’t think running into him at Starbucks was a coincidence unfortunately… he didn’t even live in the city I went to school in I never expected to see him ever again…
It seemed like this person tried to make my life a living hell because A. They kept trying to contact me on dating apps … super swiping etc to be noticed & B. It seemed like they managed to convince people that we just “had a wild night” & that I was just dirty & desperate… was I stupid? Absolutely but I promise you I was not desperate for this person in any capacity …. & if I was really dirty why didn’t he just fall back the second it that became clear to him? Like be forreal. He wanted to penetrate regardless of what I wanted & he knows that.
When I finally came forward people were basically blaming me for what happened calling me Naïve or too innocent because I made the stupid decision to visit the person at 8:00/9:00 PM.. like how does that justify anything? We’ve all made poor choices before… It’s not like I was being freaky via text of any of that… I literally said I didn’t want to be alone … not that I was horny…
if someone has that intention that’s exactly what they’re going to do.. time of day makes no difference. The first time I was coerced into oral sex it was literally 3:00 PM … (sorry for the tangent).
I guess all of this to ask who on here was raped or coerced/intimidated as a virgin? Even if you weren’t a virgin how have survivors overcome their trauma? How did you find the desire to be intimate again? Did you ever communicate this to future partners? Is this something that should be communicated to future partners (relationship partners)….
Some days I really just be wanting to hurt myself because I feel like this man is literally living his best life while I’m in hell … struggling to let this hurt go … so if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.
I know this isn’t the most traditional story & some of you may think “tHaTs nOt RaPe” but I think it was … I just did a lot of weird shit …. Hopefully someone understands.

2023.03.30 18:49 toddler_tot Was I abused?
I (F20) need opinions from unbiased sources. I think I was abused growing up, but I’m having such a hard time convincing myself to believe it and take steps to move away from it. I know without a doubt that my parents love me. My mother would be absolutely heartbroken if she knew I was thinking these things, that’s why I’m having such a hard time with it.
There are many nuances to this story and I want to explain it as effectively as possible so I’ll provide a little background on each person involved:
Father: Verbally/Physically abusive childhood. OCD. Extreme anger issues. Verbally abusive to my mom. Threatened to end his own life if I didn’t stop my mom from leaving. Since that event, he’s been in therapy and is making major moves in healing and being a better person.
Mother: Grew up in a cult. Verbally/Physically abusive childhood. Her family is absolutely nuts, there’s no way for me to sum it up in a few sentences. Extremely attached to me, treated me as her best friend/therapist. Whenever I try to talk with her about the things she did wrong, she will meltdown as if her mind cannot handle the idea that she caused us pain. -Mom thinks my older brother married the wrong person. Brother is still on family phone plan, when he first married she would check the records to see how much he talked to SIL and to see if he was ignoring her. -When brother married, mom was devastated. Said they did it too quickly, she was depressed for months, couldn’t talk about him without crying. Even slept with his childhood blanket.
Me: Homeschooled, severe anxiety from ages 8-16. Mom’s therapist/best friend. Grew up extremely poor.
I’m going to list a few facts about my childhood, and then I’ll put together a few scenarios. There’s just too much for me to compile into a few paragraphs.
-Homeschooled completely, mom didn’t want to spend time away from us -Mom didn’t have a job, we were extremely poor -Education was neglected, I barely graduated and don’t believe I could make it through college -Drs & Dentist visits were neglected, last dr checkup was at 8 years old, last dentist visit was way before that. -Had severe Anxiety, never slept at night -Mom babysat 3 kids, made me get up early to take care of them so she could sleep (still had to do school as well, with next to no sleep) -My moms personal therapist, I can’t count the times she had convos with me about her marriage problems, financial problems, her trauma, that ended with me giving her advice and consoling her. At 7 years old. Probably earlier. -Am 20 years old, live in an apartment in my parents house, still required to asked permission to do more than a trip to Walmart. -watch my parents scream at each other consistently Life events-
-My first job was 8-2 at cfa, I also went to church on Sunday nights. Mom eventually had a huge meltdown that she got my dad involved in bc she felt that I was neglecting her and I didn’t want to be friends anymore.
-The only reason my dad stopped abusing my mom was because I stood up to him. She never did. After I stood up to him, that’s when she started doing it. She should have divorced him for the sake of her kids long long long ago.
Last main and most important event, the moment I began to see my mother for what she was.
I began dating. At the beginning of this relationship, my mom insisted that I tell him all about how she and I were best friends, and that he needed to impress her and how she was my favorite above him. Just a ton of weird things, like he was dating both of us.
At the time, I was 19, almost 20. I paid for all my bills, I voluntarily paid rent for the apartment in their house that I occupied. I owned my own car, had a big girl job. I wanted to go see my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. We’re long distance, and it would have been a 2 1/2 hour drive to meet in the middle. My mom did not like this. She said I didn’t have enough experience driving. When I wouldn’t relent and promise to do as she said, she came to my apartment and gave me a dressing down. She began with telling me all the ways she thought my boyfriend was lying, and how she thought he was narcissistic. I told her over and over that I didn’t want to discuss this with her. She kept going. Every point she made was so silly that it showed me how desperate she was to keep me from being in the relationship. Even my dad said he didn’t see any of the things she was talking about. Eventually, she told me that if I went, then she would follow me there. I told her I’d turn Life360 off, and she wouldn’t know where I was. At that point she threatened to turn my phone off.
She did more things that night, but moral of the story: I can’t do anything without my mom being involved. I’m 20. Can someone please please tell me that I’m right and this is not how families should work? My mom does love me. But she’s causing me pain. I want to move out and away but that would break her heart. I feel responsible for her emotions. She made me make promises that I’d never just up and leave, or elope without telling her. Is it morally wrong for me to break those promises? I feel like they were coerced out of me to keep my mom feeling happy and safe. I’m sorry if this is confusing, I’m not good at getting this out but please. Helpppp 🙏🏼

2023.03.30 18:46 terribleheadspace 24 F / Looking for (female) friends to VC with
Hello,
makenewfriendshere. We meet again. I am once again asking for friends. This time, I'm looking to find voice chat friends to foolishly be socially awkward with. And to play chess with. If you're into that, send me your discord tag and let's link up. Just tell me a little bit about yourself first. I prefer chit chatting w other women since I don't really feel comfortable 1o1 with guys online, but I will try to be open (butttt im sorry but one creepy, misogynistic, or homophobic thing and i will scadodoole, im not playing)
Besides chess, I have a graveyard of other hobbies: I dabbled into writing, & stories about sentient toilet papers were written (thank you,
writingprompts). I drew cats from memes, I had a readathon mania when i discovered zlib years ago, designed fake book covers that no one asked for, made some music, i even dipped my tongue into new languages. All have been abandoned eons ago in liu of depression.
Then
the xqc v. Moistcritikal chess match happened and my mind has been reopened. I have found a new joy in living and losing miserably at.
I like horror and psychological thrillers books and movies, but I've substituted that with air crash investigations and whatever Shawn Cee reacts to that I can find on YouTube. That's the extent of my films and shows, lol.
Music: currently my focus is on exploring hip hop/rap, I'm very new to the genre. But my fav artists are kendrick lamar, little simz, leikeli47, tierra whack. Favourite album of 2022 is: Renaissance or Mr Morale, I can't pick.
Before my hip hop phase I was a twenty one pilots, Melanie Martinez, half alive & KKB type of person. I also like LoL's K/DA if that counts.
Games: none but among us and chess and i suck at both🤙🏾
I'm very very socially awkward and I'm just trying to learn how to conversate. I'm not as expressive on VC but I try to be. If that doesn't bother you, shoot me a message. BTW I AM QUEELGBTQ+, just in case. If you're homophobic or disrespectful please don't contact me. Just trynna keep away from any awkwardness. Also, no NSFW. Also, final thing: I can't see chat requests, please PM me instead!! Thank you and have a cool day.

2023.03.30 18:45 McMikus Looking for a best friend again after loss
Introduction 1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
- I had a family standard poodle I was extremely close to who unfortunately was killed by 2 dogs breaking into my fenced backyard. That is the only dog I have had and definitely feel ready to have a dog again after a lot of therapy and time to mentally recover.
2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a
reputable breeder?
- Would prefer to know the dog's parents regarding health history and temperaments so breeder is best for that, but I am fine with rescuing if the breed is small/could not seriously hurt me.
3) Describe your ideal dog.
- Very affectionate, big snuggler, great with strangers. I don't require a particularly smart or athletic dog but fine with that
4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
6) Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
Care Commitments 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
- As much as needed, I live with my sister but she wants me to choose the breed, and a friend recommended this reddit ❤️ I am working at home and I have lots of (too much) time.
8) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
- As much as needed, I have an extremely flexible and easy work schedule. I don't want to do dog parks as I hear lots of negatives about them!! I already do 3 daily walks so incorporating a dog into whatever is required is fine!
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
- Open to any brushing, it's therapeutic for me and I did it every day with the poodle, not sure about stuff like cleaning ears but we have 1 pet hospital near us that does grooming and check ups.
Personal Preferences 10) What size dog are you looking for?
- Any except extra large like Great Danes or extra small (we're near the woods so really not safe cause of hawks and foxes)
11) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
- Fine with shedding, not too big on slobber (I can cope, lol) but I am fine with barking! Not close to many people so
12) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
- I do not want to do any off-leash in an unfenced area, the thought makes me worry.
Dog Personality and Behavior 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
- 100% snuggly but I'm of course fine with giving space whenever the dog prefers!!
14) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
- Eager-to-please, a very interactive dog. My sister and I love silly clingy dogs
15) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
- Friendly and interactive, not anxious or protective/resource guarding
16) Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
- HUGE no due to past experience.
17) Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
- Aggression to people like strangers is also a no!!! If it's not extreme I am of course fine working with a trainer
Lifestyle 18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
- I work at home and my sister is a commuter from college. She's done in May :)
19) What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
- She's to be as involved as I am when her college schedule allows it, we both want a very snuggly dog.
20) Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
- Just an aquarium right now lol, maybe another dog years into the future
21) Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
- I doubt it but we would reallllly prefer a child-friendly dog. Not okay with aggression/uneasiness to kids/the sight of kids
22) Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
23) What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
24) What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?
- Never really too extreme, willing to turn on heating/air conditioning for the dog when needed :)
Additional Information and Questions 25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.
- I have multiple instances of trauma with pitbull breeds including with my old family dog's situation so I am more hesitant but it is just due to trauma I am not sure if I could handle one. I do not mean to generalize but it's sadly how my anxiety functions. 100% not going for brachy breeds either, unless from a rescue.

2023.03.30 18:43 Madgameboy Latern fest is terrible EVERY time
These lantern events have been terrible every time, and it checks all the boxes for terrible events
1• requires a twitter account to post screenshots to in order to get all quest rewards, this is the only event that does this
2• the map is literally broken, as the the court areas have their floors floating 10 feet in the air, and the only ball can easily escape the courtyard with no way to respawn it, or it just spawns under ground
3• two player activities that cannot be accessed without 2 players activating it at the same time, bring a friend or wait an hour for a rando to approach you & run off despite the activity usually requiring multiple plays in order to achieve quests
4• repeat boring activities (hold forward for 3 minutes, walk around and press buttons) to complete quests
5• big open map with nothing to do in it
6• locked off areas that wont activate for several days requiring you to come back and do the same shit all over again
7• puzzles with no discernable answer that require you to go to the map makers instagram to find the answer (and advertised as the only way to do so)

2023.03.30 18:38 __ButWhy__ New reader: Dammit, he got me.
I finished Fool Moon. No spoilers for future books, please. I enjoyed it. Similar formula to the first book: Opener sets the theme with Harry meeting an inquisitive ingenue for some exposition, off to a nauseating murder scene, hypersexed reporter, potion mixology with Glowskull McRapey, surprise Marcone visit with a job offer & a clue, meet scary underworld creatures led by a woman, the threat of an authoritative body hangs over Harry as they watch him very closely, summon a mystical creature for information, boobs, Murphy arrests Harry, boobs, get attacked by a monster, boobs, side villain and main villain showdown, boobs. Still a bit too predictable, but I enjoyed it for the popcorn it is. You're a wizard, Harry. So his mother didn't die in childbirth. And his father went out by some other mysterious means than previously believed. Voldemort, you naughty boy. You're a b*tch, Elaine. She did some evil stuff and she doesn't have a square to spare. Looking forward to meeting her. Would I throw up if I looked into Harry's eyes? I wanna see. Murphy doesn't just hate litter. She saves it for later. Somewhere around the time Harry noticed Murphy's "cute earlobes" as she was going about her work, I wondered, "Does Harry have a crush on Murphy?" ..."Do I have a crush on Murphy?" I wasn't sure if I was reading (listening?) too much into Harry's perceptions. He notices the bodies of every woman around him, but he also missed her when they couldn't talk directly. And I like Murphy. I relate to her. Then of course, a few chapters later, Harry's subconscious made a comment that I wholeheartedly agreed with. As soon as Carmichael showed a little faith in Harry's innocence on the question of Harry's involvement with Marcone, and the humorous moment they had, I was like "Oh no, don't kill Carmichael." :/ Made me sniffle. And immediately wonder who Murphy's new partner would be. Harry isn't an officer. So, someone handsome, smart, and just open minded enough to be friendly with Harry so Harry gets all twisted up about a niggling jealousy he has about New Guy and Murphy? Does New Guy show himself to be untrustworthy and Harry has to prove it to Murph, inviting all her ire in the process? Hm. My subconscious wears perfume, black leather boots, runs a 5-minute mile, and got her degree way before I did. The whole bit with the subconscious was fascinating, and reminded me of a redditer's warning to be careful what I wished for because Harry becomes one big internal conflict later. So now I can't help but wonder if there will be more of those little fireside chats with subconscious Harry, perhaps with a few other manifestations of Harry's worried mind. Like Harry's id to his superego. Bet that would be scary. Perhaps a magical intruder. Oh boy. Phrasing: "Sex to donuts." Loved it. The feels when Murphy saved Harry from the wolf and used her DIY bullets. "Fuego!" LOL I know it's Latin as well as Spanish, but that will never not make a Southern California kid laugh. Oh, the menacing imagery of Parker kneeling casually with a blown out knee while making nonchalant murder promises. So good. Also, Parker's team can do a mean type & screen. Butcher paints a picture. He proved himself capable in Storm Front, but this one ramped up. I adored the concept of sensory overdrive as part of the magic experience - feeling snakes rubbing Harry's palms, whispers of natural elements that weren't actually there. Ugh! So good. Felt terrible for Harry when he realized he might have been able to prevent Kim's death, if he'd just given her the information she needed. He was facing a real ethical dilemma there, though. Can't just go around explaining how to read bomb schematics. If she told him what it was for, he would have helped. His emotional outburst with Susan felt like forced intimacy, though. Both for the two of them as characters, and for the reader and Harry. It felt just as hollow as the random sex pit stop in the middle of battle time, followed by the weird use of Susan as servant for Harry's gear-up scene. That coupled with the chat with Mr. Subconscious seemed like a not-so-thinly veiled metaphor for a larger character arc set up for Harry and Susan. She'll play nurse to his broken parts, fill a lovergirl space until Harry becomes a real boy, before having to tragically let her go as part of his larger self-actualization. BEST SCENE The background potion as Harry infiltrated the station, then confounding his efforts to warn that poor guard. I asked for more suspense. I got it. The way monochrome shifted to colorful bright spots as people paid attention to Harry - such a great concept. I was not disappointed when Butcher made full use of it for the moment the wolf locked on Harry. The tension built up perfectly. The guard felt real and I ached for him to make it. The way the wolf painted the room with him was genuinely horrifying. The way Harry delayed using his magic made me squirm with frustration. That became a theme, a sometimes convenient plot device, it seemed. Harry jumped out of a moving car and thought/narrated, "Don't look at me like that." I was looking at him like that, so I laughed aloud. More 4th wall breaks, please. Where are the swinging sweaty dicks? When people get hypersexed for whatever magical reason, it's just the women. Tera was the born-sexy-yesterday trope. The FBI agents all dealt with the same magic addiction making them uber violent and uber sexual, but only Benn felt the need to moan and rub her nipples or just rip her top off for no reason. The other agents should have been striking similar poses, walking everywhere dick-first, fingering their buttholes, etc. If you wanna write weird stuff, write weird stuff. Just be consistent, is all I ask. Just because there's a view, doesn't mean you should look. Harry ogling the young wolf girl when she stretched in her robe and walked away was annoying AF. He called her and her friends children a few words ago, but apparently *she* wasn't too young for him to openly gawk at, and she wasn't even naked. Then his complaining about Susan, the fully grown hot woman prone to throwing her lips all over him, getting in the way of his view as if that were a bad thing. Get ahold of your selective chivalry, dude. Why does Susan like (maybe love) Harry? He puts her in danger without giving her the information she needs (warn a bish if she's being followed, don't just jump out of her car and leave her to the ...wolves). He apparently didn't even trust Tera at the time (though he had reason to), but he left Susan alone with her. Susan plays nursemaid, costume dresser, ego smoother, therapist, sex buddy, and still doesn't know much about him because he won't share. He ogles like it's his job, even when Susan is right there. He's high investment, low return, and large with the danger. I bought them as f*ck-buddies, but as soon as she said something about falling for Harry, I was out. She's also written with all the dimension of a sheet of paper with (.)(.) drawn on it, so I guess I should be glad she surprised me? Hope she gets more interesting. Poor MacFinn & Tera I was really bummed when I thought Tera died. And MacFinn's story was such a tragedy. Really wished he and Tera could chase their litter around that park. Butcher does this dance between setting up his main charactenarrator's faults as impeding his awareness of a larger plot (giving me faith in Butcher as a writer), and then occasionally doubling down on making his character Mr. Uber Cool or the smartest guy in the room when he has no reason to be & other characters have every reason to know better than him (returning me to believing Butcher's really just doing a self-insert). Like when Harry kept assuming Murphy just picked up his discarded paper because it was litter. Were we supposed to think Harry was dumb, just didn't give her enough credit for being a friggin' detective (is it because her earlobes are so cute, Harry?), or was Butcher just bad at misdirects and wasn't giving readers enough credit? Or did Butcher know the readers would catch onto that before Harry and Butcher was just showing how Harry's chauvinism gets in his way again? If it's the latter, then why did Butcher position Harry as the one to break the case to Murphy in the end, as if she couldn't figure out his simple dot connecting herself - especially after everything she witnessed? Which leads me to: Butcher got me, dammit. When Murphy put herself between Harry and the wolf as Harry was finally swinging his silver, apparently aiming her gun at him and ordering him to get down, I was fully pissed. "Oh goddammit, fine, make her stupid. WTF." Plot twist, Denton lives to club another day! Or try to. I totally thought Butcher was dwindling Murphy into a dumb plot device, but he mostly wasn't. Of course she was defending Harry. But a cop would have chosen a better angle. At least he didn't make her a total moron. Why did Wilson bite Benn? Marcone's got 99 problems and not having enough guards by his death pit is one of them. How did Susan recognize wolf Harry? Was it the power of lurv? Someone fire Murphy's surgeon. I know it's annoying to nitpick about medical errors in fiction. I usually let the overly frequent concussions go - people like to knock their characters out and pretend there are no effects or they only "see stars" for a few seconds. Alright, fine. But Butcher gave Murphy an open fracture to her upper arm, with enough angulation that a passerby could see the bone protruding. Likely vascular and nerve injuries. From a beastie with claws covered in dirt and other peoples' blood. She'd need to be in an OR for vascular repair within 3-4 hours tops, with staged debridement at 24 and 48 hour intervals, and probable external fixation rods instead of a plate with all the soft tissue and bone reconstruction she'd need. Surgery likely delayed by all the swelling. And no way in hell anyone would put a cast on that arm at that point - oh hey there, compartment syndrome, fancy meeting you here. Who needs arms, anyway? It's just a very dramatic wound to give a character and then have them up and running around the next day. Also: don't put hydrogen peroxide on wounds! /rant Dear Narrator, Wow. Pretty sure that if I ever get around to making kids, my grandkids will still be getting chills. Great job. Also, just a couple minor details, but uh, the "s" in "debris" is silent. It's "periph-er-al" not "periph-ry-al," and it's "miss-cheev-us" not "miss-cheev-ee-us." Just small things, really. The pacing and emotion however, great. Edge of my seat. Carry on. Best regards, My Judgmental Ear Holes P.S. I won't tell anyone about the fart.

2023.03.30 18:36 vmhs_ How many times a week should your roommates bf stay over?
My roommates & I all get along well, (one of them being one of my closest friends) the only issue is that her bf is here all of the time. She recently told me he was going to be staying here 4x out of the week because he’s moving to a new city & they want to make long distance work, also he has class ones a week (we live in a college town). I was caught of guard bc she didn’t ask if it was okay with us, though I’m sure my other roommate doesn’t mind I do. He showers here, does laundry here, he forgets to turn of the lights, he sometimes even forgets to lock the door, they leave the common areas messy. Worst of all, he’s SO loud. He’s not considerate of others, he stomps his feet when he’s walking, he slams every door, him & his gf talk/laugh so loud at late/early hours. I lose sleep bc of how loud they are, it’s annoying and tiring. I don’t mind him coming over I just wish he was considerate of others, especially bc he’s not paying rent or for the utilities. 4x a week is too much, I want to be comfortable in my home and be well rested. I already hate confrontation, & them being two of my closest friends makes it worse. I should add, that her & I were going through a difficult situation with looking for housing & we stayed with him for a couple of days & is why I also feel bad. Should I even talk about it to them? Or should I just let it go? How do I even confront them without them getting mad?

2023.03.30 18:36 Fast-Word1799 Is my (29F) relationship with my BF (39M) too focused on sex?
I (29F) met my boyfriend (39M) in November, and I can genuinely say that I am completely in love with him. I honestly get emotional just thinking about it! He is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and even though he’s 10 years older and a good 7 inches taller than me I look at this person and I literally just want to protect him.
When I’m with him, I truly feel like I can be myself and things just feel so easy with him. We spend at least 4 days/nights a week together, but it’s definitely not in a co-dependent way and both still spend time with friends and individual hobbies outside the relationship.
The backstory is that we met on what is essentially a hook up app and we both weren’t expecting something serious, but here we are. I would say that our relationship is definitely highly sexual (like we’re having sex about 3 times per night every time we see each other), and we sext pretty frequently. Our intimacy and connection when we’re having sex is unreal and like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.
Here’s where my concern is: my BF frequently tells me how obsessed he is with my body and that he’s never felt this drawn to someone before sexually (and I feel the same way!) and has a super high sex drive. Deep down, there’s part of me that’s nervous that the way he feels about me is entirely dependent on sex. We’ve had so many conversations where he’s talked about other things about our relationship that he loves, he consistently makes time for me, whenever he travels for work he calls me almost every night to check in and see how my day is, so I feel like maybe it’s in my head and just an insecurity of mine. Ultimately I’m scared that when some of the physical aspects of our relationship plateau, maybe he’ll no longer be satisfied with me.
Any advice on how to navigate or quell some of my anxieties?

2023.03.30 18:36 SpaceyAndrew How to Unblock Rockets Streams from Anywhere in the World and Avoid Local Blackouts
Due to blackouts, are you unable to view NBA League Pass games? We'll show you how to use a VPN to get around NBA League Pass bans in the United States.
The 2022-23 NBA season has begun and will end on April 9, 2023. Of course, even once it finishes, there are the playoffs to look forward to! While the NBA League Pass is a terrific method to watch games, certain games may be unavailable (blacked out).
Luckily, a VPN, or Virtual Private Network, allows you to avoid NBA League Pass limitations by making it appear as though you're in another area (but more on that later!) thus you may watch your home services while traveling out of state or internationally.
Here's how to use a VPN to get around NBA League Pass blackouts: - First, sign up for a high-quality VPN service with a large number of server locations (particularly in the US). NordVPN comes highly recommended. However, Surfshark and CyberGhost are two dependable, low-cost solutions worth investigating. I got Surfshark on a Discount from this Community Website.
- Install the VPN mobile app, desktop software, or browser extension for the device from which you wish to watch NBA League Pass.
- Connect to a server in an area where the game is not blacked out using the VPN software or browser extension. If a game is being broadcast locally, you should connect to a server in another state. Connect to a server in another country, such as Canada or Mexico, if the broadcast is nationwide. This will give you a local IP address and mislead NBA League Pass into believing you're somewhere else.
- If you haven't already, sign up for an NBA League Pass account. It costs $14.99 USD per month with advertisements or $19.99 USD per month without ads. A complete season is also available for $99.99 (with advertising) or $129.99. (ad-free). All options include a 7-day free trial.
- Access the game normally now that it has been unblocked! If the problem persists, delete your browser's cache and cookies. Alternatively, if the server you're using has been banned, try another one. Should you want more assistance, all of the VPNs mentioned above provide 24-hour support.
When we visited NBA League Pass from New York, we saw the following blackout notice:
"You are unable to watch live Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks games due to your current location." You may listen to a live radio broadcast or see a three-day archive of these games." Local blackouts aren't the only limitations you'll encounter with NBA League Pass. Many nationally televised games are also not included:
"Live streaming of games broadcast on ESPN, ABC, TNT, and NBA TV will not be accessible on NBA League Pass." You may listen to a live radio broadcast of these games or see an archive of them three hours after they are broadcast." By following the steps in the guide, you will avoid these messages popping up and you can finally enjoy the games from abroad.
VPN comparison can leave you feeling overwhelmed. One way to reduce complexity is to use a premium VPN service that can handle various tasks rather than a single-purpose one. Here are the three providers that work best in my opinion with avoiding blackouts:
Surfshark: This VPN service provider offers great value for money, with an extensive server network and a user-friendly interface. It has over 3,200 servers in 65 countries and allows unlimited simultaneous connections. Surfshark is also known for its strong security features, including AES-256 encryption, a kill switch, and a no-logs policy.
Pros: Unlimited simultaneous connections, affordable pricing, and strong security features.
Cons: The server speeds may be slower compared to other VPNs.
CyberGhost: This VPN provider is known for its user-friendly interface and is ideal for beginners. It has over 7,300 servers in 90 countries and offers fast connection speeds. CyberGhost also has strong security features, including AES-256 encryption and a no-logs policy.
Pros: Fast connection speeds, user-friendly interface, and strong security features.
Cons: The pricing may be slightly more expensive compared to other VPNs.
ExpressVPN: This VPN provider is known for its fast server speeds and strong security features. It has over 3,000 servers in 94 countries and offers unlimited bandwidth and data. ExpressVPN also has a no-logs policy and uses AES-256 encryption to protect your data.
Pros: Fast server speeds, strong security features, and easy-to-use interface.
Cons: The pricing may be higher compared to other VPNs.
So, how might a VPN assist you in avoiding NBA League Pass blackouts? Your internet traffic is encrypted when you connect to a VPN server. This makes determining your real location challenging for websites and services. You will be allocated a new, temporary IP address if you connect to a server in another US state or another country completely. This will fool the NBA League Pass website into believing you're in a different area, allowing you to avoid the blackout.

2023.03.30 18:31 MariaJane833 Sixth sense kicked in with customer
TLDR: sixth sense of customer wanting to isolate me, background confirmed why
In my early twenties, I landed a receptionist job in a sales office at a manufactured housing community. It was my first office job after working in daycare and the food & drink industry. I was so excited! I greeted potential buyers, set up appointments, and staged the spec homes with our stock of furniture and decorations. I worked with one other person in the office, who was the salesman. When he was out of the office, I took potential buyers through our spec homes and gathered their information for follow up.
I was working alone one day when a customer came into the office looking to potentially purchase his first home. I gathered some information from the young man and asked if he would like to look at some spec homes. As we walked down the sidewalk toward the row of spec homes, we chatted about the various floor plans and finishes available. I knew the product information and had no trouble confidently answering his questions. He was friendly and reminded me of a classmate from high school that had played offense on the football team.
I decided to show him the two home models that best fit his price range and desired floorplan. Since I shared most of the technical information during the first home tour, I gave him some space to freely look around the second home. He walked through the main living area and stopped in the doorway to one of the back bedrooms. He called out, "hey, what is this back here?" and pointed to the corner of the room that I couldn't see from where I was standing.
I knew these floorplans by heart so I politely answered that it was a closet (in my mind I was sarcastically thinking: really? You don't know what a closet is?). He chuckled and asked again, "No, really! Come here. What is this back here?" I could tell by his tone that he was pressuring me come see for myself. He motioned for me to come closer and take a look.
His tone was friendly, but his request didn't make sense...so I paused.
And in that split second, something shifted. Maybe it was the energy in the air, the hairs on my neck standing straight up, or the way his eyes changed before me.
I suddenly sensed the power dynamic had shifted. I did not feel safe.
With all the light heartedness I could muster, I repeated, "oh, it's a closet...excuse me for a moment, I need to check on something outside." I quickly made my exit back to the sidewalk outside the house.
I had no concrete reason for why I felt the overwhelming need to leave the house immediately. I didn't understand why my body sensed danger. I just knew I needed to act quickly.
Over the next few days, the young man came back to the office to meet with the salesmen. He filled out all the various paperwork needed to purchase a home and live within the community. He dropped by several more times unannounced to check on his application status. If I wasn't there, he would ask the salesmen when I worked next. My coworker thought I had a not-so-secret admirer.
I couldn't shake the overwhelming feeling something wasn't right, so on the nights I worked alone I locked the office door.
A few days later, corporate sent back their analysis of the young man's application and completed background check. He had been denied. The background check revealed multiple sexual assault convictions.
And there it was. Crystal clear, undeniable, 20/20 hindsight.
The salesman called the customer right away to let him know his application had been denied and that we could not do anything further for him. A few days the young man decided to come back to the office one more time. When my coworker saw the young man's vehicle turn into our parking lot, he told me to go to the backroom of the office where I would be out of sight. And just like the times before, the young man entered the office asking if I was working.
This time he was met by a very angry 6 foot salesman that had nothing to lose. (I had never heard my coworker raise his voice before, but on that day his voice shook the office walls.) Needless to say, the young man never came by again and I wasn't scheduled to work alone nearly as often.

2023.03.30 18:31 rosiesherry I unschool my 5 kids. This is how much it costs.
We’re a family of two parents and 5 children aged 5 to 19. We’ve been on our unschooling journey for over 10 years now. There is no going back or no other way for us. The inefficiencies and stress of schools are just too much for us to bear.
We do get tempted with going back to school and sometimes drool at private schools. We then figure the £3k a month it would cost (for 3 of the kids) is ridiculous. There are so many better ways to spend that kind of money.
The cost of unschooling for us
What we spend our money on varies year by year, but hopefully, this will paint a rough picture.
The numbers are rounded and also shown as a monthly cost for easy calculation. Some things we pay per session, per month or per term.
- Forest School, 1 x 3 hour session per week x 3 kids = £400 per term / £100 per month
- Badminton, 1 x 1 hour session x 1 kid = £60 per term / £15 per month
- Swimming x 1 session per week x 3 kids = free, a trip to a cafe afterwards £100 per month
- Swimming with a friend 1 x per week x 1 child = £40 per month (includes food afterwards)
- Football x 2 sessions per week x 1 kid = £50 per month
- Gymnastics x 2 kids, 1 session per week = £60 per month
- Annual membership to Paradise Park (play area) = £72 per year / £12 per month
- Annual membership to Drusillas Park x 3 (Zoo + Park) = £300 per year / £25 per month
- Books: Our eldest reads a lot and has access to my Amazon account to order books, I’ve lost track of cost, but maybe £150 per month
- Open University course x 2 (for our eldest) = £3k / £250 per month
- A home ed friendly education space (coming soon for us)for 1 x day x 2 kids = £70 per week / £280 per month
- Crafts and books for our younger ones = roughly £150 per month
- Misc outings = £150 p/m
💰 Total monthly cost to unschool our five children: £1382
The hidden costs of unschooling
Of course, these are just the costs of things we sign up for. What is not included here is our time as parents and the cost of driving the kids to things.
My husband and I share unschooling duties fairly between us. I work for myself and I bring my laptop with me whenever I think there will be an opportunity for me to sit down for 1–3 hours to do some work. Often it’s easier, cheaper and more efficient to work whilst I sit and wait for sessions to finish rather than going back home.
The important thing to remember here is that our kids have opted in for all these activities. We only do what they are interested in. And this is what makes unschooling beautiful.
