2023.05.30 22:32 lmm130Is it a bad idea to prep for and take the admin exam while still in college?
I want to work as a Salesforce Administrator or analyst once I am finished with school. I’m trying to decide if it would be more beneficial to take the exam soon to qualify myself better for jobs or wait till I’ve actually worked for a few months in Salesforce. I’ve played around in Trailhead for a couple years now and touched on it a little bit during an internship. Trailhead says 6 months of experience is recommended, and I’m wondering if y’all think that is just because the experience is helpful on the exam or does the certification hold less weight with almost zero work experience?
First shot at a recap so let’s see how we do! Race Info What – IM 70.3: Chattanooga Where – Chattanooga, TN USA When - Sunday, May 21st, 2023 Overall Goals - PR - Yes (previous PR was a 5:30:12 at Ohio 70.3 in 2022) - Sub 5:00 - Heck no - Not blow up on run - Sorta? TL;DR and Results This was my 3rd 70.3 and my first with my coach who has been training me since the start of the fall 2022 Swim – 35:07 T1 – 5:03 Bike – 2:49:55 T2 – 3:13 Run – 1:51:57 Total time – 5:25:14 58th in AG (M27), 579 overall Background Was a college soccer player (GK) and after college had a foray into BJJ and MMA with a couple fights. Realized that was dumb for longevity and switched to triathlon Training Swimming 2-3 sessions a week of 2.4K to 3.6K yards per session. Some workouts are speed focused, some are technique focused, so on and so forth. I have seen a good improvement on CSS these last few month from 1:40 to 1:33. I did swim team as a kid so I have been trying to recapture some of that swim experience. I also felt some recent breakthrough with decreasing my stroke rate and using fewer more powerful strokes. Have been very happy with my improvement these last months. I still remain a terrible to nonexistent kicker Goal split - 35 Minutes Biking typically rides a week. Longer weekend ride and 2 during the week (on zwift trainer) with focus on cadence or power or VO2. I have a big problem with low cadence, recently been trying to get up into the 80s for when I am normally riding. However when I start putting power down I start reverting to the low 70s cadence of riding. As far as FTP I had worked my FTP up to 257 leading up to the start of the season. However I have felt pretty weak these last 2 month leading up to this actual race. It has been harder for me to put the power down. However on the outdoor longer rides I have felt very strong and very comfortable riding for longer periods. Outdoors I ride without power so will probably need to make that investment soon. Goal Split - 2:30:00 Running Running has steadily improved with increased mileage and more speedwork. Recent 5K test had improved me to 6:33 for my fastest 5K. Additionally in the most recent half marathon race I had I finished 1:30:12 with a 6:57 avg. biggest issues I have been dealing with are some pain in my left Achilles at the very start of runs that typically disappears after a mile or 2. Typically 3-4 runs a week (1 tempo short, longer run on the weekend, Z2 10k). Goal Split - 1:40:00 Race Morning Woke up at 4 AM to get the body rolling. Had my usual prerace breakfast of 2 English muffins with peanut butter and honey as well as a power armour with caffeine and a cup of coffee. Transition setup right at 4:40 to give me plenty of time for the most important part of the morning, THE BM. Went back to my hotel and was able to get showered and dressed up for the race. Headed over to the busses for drop-off to the swim and get to the swim start 20-30 mins before the race start Swim – seeded myself in the 30-35 minute group and set off! for those that fear swimming Chatty is a great race. It is a with the current swim so it felt like we were flying down the river. Dealt with a slight leak in my left goggle the entire swim which was pretty annoying but it was far from terrible. Also I forgot that in Chatty the swim is actually 1.4 miles instead of 1.2, so as I swam over 2100 yards I was thinking WTF why are we still swimming? This was the first time I seeded myself in the 30-35 min so I did deal with less of the slower swimmers who seed incorrectly. However I did still find quite a few in front of me who should not have been where they were. Mini Rant here, but seriously people why are you doing this? IDK this is just a huge pet peeve of mine when I have to swim all the way around a person (small problems I know...) rant over. But got through it without any real major contact with anyone 35:07 @ 1:23/100 yards - 7:48 PR! T1 – Never had a wetsuit stripper before! that was fun. But this transition is long as crap. My watch clocked my total transition distance as almost half a mile which was crazy to me. Also I was a little slow getting my socks on today which was unusual. all and all a odd transition where I just felt slow and unfocused on what I was doing. 5:03 Bike – Set off on what had previously been my nemesis for my first 70.3 but felt like I would have an area of great improvement for today! with my goal of 2:30 I knew my goal average speed was around 22MPH, and for the first bit we were well on track! If I look at my average speed through the first 26 miles I was averaging 21.6 MPH. And this is a course with rolling hills most of the way. Goals of the bike were to try and really spin to get through the hill and not stuck grinding it out as this would destroy my legs. Also wanted to keep on my nutrition as I felt this really caused me to blow up on my runs in Galveston and Ohio. Fueling per hour was 1 x 55g carb Gatorade mix bottle and a maurten gel to get to 80 g carb per hours. Would then rinse down the body and sip water through the aid stations. after I burned through my 2 bottles I sipped on the Gatorade endurance bottle taken from the aide stations. In total took 160 g carb + some of the Gatorade endurance for nutrition. So all was going ok until after the "big" climb halfway. Not sure if it was fueling or the headwind that started. But my average speed just tanked. I felt like I had no power. When I tried to flex and stretch my legs I could just feel the damage in them. Not good. Then with the slower speed my mental game fell apart. mile 40-50 I was in a really bad mental spot and had decided at several points to just quit when I got back into transition as there was no way in hell I would break 5 hours. I felt like a failure and a loser. why had I been training 9-12 hours every week to just suck? Talk about a tale of 2 half's. Managed to get back to transition. Mini rant #2 - draft packs... screw you. A literal peloton of 8-10 people 2 abreast 5 deep flew by me at mile 45 and let me tell you I was big mad. Rant over. Also saw a guy lose control at 30 MPH and hit the deck pretty hard, hope he's ok. That was a nice bike to wreck on :( Also another guy almost started peeing on me (I was behind him) near the end and definitely did not use enough water to wash himself down after LOL. 2:49:55 - 20.07 MPH - 11ish minutes slower than PR :( T2 – Made it into T2 and said alright lets just run the first 5k and see how we are doing then we can DNF if you really are that miserable. So got everything racked and ditched the 10 maurtens I had somehow acquired on the bike. but threw on my trusty Saucony Endorphin Pro 2s and set off 3:13 Run – That first hill out of transition took my already bad mental state and threw it into the fire. So I have never come closer to quitting than that moment. I did not somehow. And then the run flattened out. So after 1.5 miles I actually started to feel good mentally and that's when I knew I was going to finish. I also saw how my pace was going and I knew I would at least PR on the day if I just held the pacing I was doing. after the 1st aid station I decided I wouldn't push too hard on the run and simply walk through the aid stations. avg pace as 7:40-8:00 while running then would walk through the aid stations. in the aid stations I would douse with water and take Gatorade in. Also was putting ice in the suit. I think in total I had 2-3 gels throughout the run? and I stopped at every single aide station for drink and splashing myself with water. Besides the aid stations the only section I had to walk was an incredibly steep little hill right before the first bridge crossing to the other side of the river. That hill is a real ball buster. In terms of improvements I think if I really want to chop some time I have some free time if I don't walk through aid stations. I need to get better at doing that on the run to enable me to get that free time. Also I really didn't push at all my heartrate was pretty much in high Z2 for me the whole run. Also I was dealing with side stitches off and on the whole run so not sure how I can prevent that in the future but if I could eliminate that I would be a much happier camper. Also lap 2 on the run was SO CROWDED mind you there were 3k athletes but man that was a busy run course for the second lap. Saw the shoot and had the tear well up a little. Got over the line and had a quick little 30 second sob so that was that. 1:51:57 - 8:31 AVG - 11 min PR Final Thoughts Chatty has me feeling some really mixed emotions. I really was sure I was in for massive PR., chopping 30 minutes off my last PR. Instead I got a measly 5. Maybe I am being to hard on myself or am being greedy with the amount of time I feel I should be dropping? However when I think about it practically it is a much harder course with 2.3K feet in climbing over the bike and 600 or so feet in climbing on the run. So to PR on a harder course is good right? Just a confusing weekend for me about how to feel about it. I think nutrition is still and issue as I am left thinking why did I feel so weak on the bike? I have read some literature that 90-100g carb may be even better now so I think I will implement this into training. Also could I have been tougher and gone harder on that run? If you saw me out there I was in an blue and orange suit with a white helmet riding and old black and blue trek equinox 7 or black running hat. Next race is in July with the Happy Valley 70.3 so I have even more climbing to look forward to there. Will I be able to further PR? Let me know what y'all think of this write up or your thoughts on all this!

Hello! I am 38F with PCOS and Fibromyalgia. Since the beginning of March I have had horrible side pain on my right side starting 2 weeks after my period. Imaging has ruled out issues with my appendix. I unfortunately do not have the images but I do have the radiologist reviewed results. I think my right ovary is swelling but I can't be positive because the US documentation from my normal OBGYN doesn't have the measurements of the ovary on it like my hospital ones do. It seems to happen about two weeks post period and I am looking for some options that when/if I am in pain next week (as it will be two weeks after) then I can ask for. Or if there is anything I should be asking my doctor for test wise. Last time I ended up hospitalized due to the high white blood cell counts and they wanted to observe me for any possible infections I could have. Blood Cultures were negative, and I ended up being released once the tests were normal again. The pain itself subsides after a few days. It comes on pretty suddenly and it makes it hard to stand up straight. 4mg of morphine only helps with radiating pain in the rest of my abdomen. I do have other results, as well but the White blood Cell Counts and CRP were the main reason I was hospitalized last time. Kubernetes I am trying to deploy an application with k3s kubernetes. Currently I have two master nodes behind a load-balancer, and I have some issues connecting worker nodes to them. All nodes and the load-balancer runs in seperate vms. The load balancer is a nginx server with the following configuration. load\_module /uslib/nginx/modules/ngx\_stream\_module.so;events {}stream { upstream k3s\_servers { server {master\_node1\_ip}:6443; server {master\_node2\_ip}:6443; } server { listen 6443; proxy\_pass k3s\_servers; }} the master nodes connects through the load-balancer, and seemingly it works as expected. 2023.05.30 21:56 Intelligent-Ad3047John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I don't get why I and my spirit are spurned as evil.. How does saying Jesus is not the True God cause me to lose this eternal life, of knowing Both Father and Son?
like I am confused, for is the claim I'm of the devil or going to hell, make sense for a righteousness that is by Faith? Romans 10►English Standard Version 1Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. The Message of Salvation to All 5For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. 6But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) 7“or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. 18But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for “Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.” 19But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says, “I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a foolish nation I will make you angry.” 20Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, “I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.” 21But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” I don't believe anyone in the righteousness that is by Faith can say anyone is going to heaven or hell... Now I confess with my mother that Jesus is lord! Which is clear evidence that I speak by the holy spirit according to the scripture breathed out by God. 1 Corinthians 12:3 "No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." Ephesians 4 4There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. 7But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” 9(In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth?10He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. when people spurn my name as evil for my belief of the Father as the Godhead of the trinity and no other, I do not understand why? is their any doctorial reasoning for this?

I've compiled an extensive list of tips and tricks about basic prompt engineering. Hope it helps someone getting started. Prompt Engineering - Part I What Are Prompts in AI? A key part of using conversational artificial intelligent agents is giving it prompts. They are a piece of text that is fed into the agent (AI) and used by the model to make a response. In other words, the process of making text in the AI starts with prompts. The model uses the information in the prompt to figure out what’s going on and come up with a response that fits. Depending on the user’s goal, a prompt could be a question, a statement, a short story, a task, or a topic. They can be as easy as one word or as hard as an entire essay. A good prompt should be specific, clear, and give enough background information for the AI to understand the topic and come up with a good answer. Some quick tips:
The AI has been trained with data from many languages, but the amount of English text in the training material is much higher. It can be helpful to run queries in English and only then translate the output using tools like DeepL.
The AI processes up to 4,096 tokens in an input (≈ 4,000 words), any character beyond that is ignored without a message. A token is roughly equivalent to a word, depending on the use case.
The response generation can be stopped with the stop button above the input field if you notice that the AI is going in the wrong direction.
If too much knowledge has been exchanged during a chat, it may be helpful to start a new chat so that subsequent replies are not corrupted.
Although chatting with the AI sometimes feels almost human, polite phrases like “please” and “thank you” are unnecessary. The AI does not need eloquent instructions, just clear ones.
If you want to ask follow-up questions on the same topic in the AI, it’s best to keep the current conversation going. When you want to switch topics, hit the “New topic” button. This gives the model a clean slate — it won’t get confused and merge unrelated topics.
Use the right model for the right job. If you’re looking for stories, poems, jokes or other imaginative answers, use the “more creative” mode of the AI. But if you’re looking for just the facts, use the “more precise” mode. This will yield succinct and fact-based responses. “Balanced” mode is the default and works well for most scenarios.
General rules
Construct an initial prompt. Create a simple, concise prompt to begin the process. This can be refined and expanded as needed.
Summarize the following news article:
Evaluate and iterate. Assess the output generated by the AI in response to the initial prompt. Modify the prompt as necessary to improve the outcome. Iterate until the desired result is achieved.
Provide a concise, 3-sentence summary of the following news article:
Provide a clear context. Providing context to the AI can each help in creating a more useful response. Context includes:
Background information
Specific Requirements
Constraints
Address potential ambiguity in your prompts by specifying the context or domain in which the AI should generate its response. Assuming I am a beginner in the field of AI, explain the concept of deep learning and its applications. Explain how neural networks are used in the context of natural language processing. I have 3 years of experience as a software developer. Now I got bored with coding and want to transition to another career. My education qualifications are B. Tech in computer science, and I am well-versed in understanding the business side of software as well. Suggest a list of career options that are easy for me to transition.
Set content boundaries. Establish clear boundaries for the content you want the AI to generate, specifying what should and should not be included.
Write a humorous, family-friendly story about a robot that learns to cook.
Be specific. Omit needless words. When crafting a prompt for the AI, it's crucial to be specific, concise and clear about the information you want. Providing clear instructions helps the model generate accurate and relevant responses. Omit needless words for clearer, more effective communication with the AI.
Avoid using overly complex or ambiguous language and aim to be as specific as possible in your prompts. Establish a clear purpose for the prompt. For instance, when summarizing a news article, the aim is to obtain a brief, informative overview. Explain the difference between artificial intelligence and machine learning. Write a funny soccer story for kids that teaches the kid that persistence is key for success in the style of Rowling. Provide a summary of [X], including its history, features, and configuration. I am a 26-year-old female looking to lose 6 kg in 3 months. Create a 1700 calories Indian diet plan for two weeks. Do not give me non-vegetarian options on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. It should be a lean protein diet with carbs (30%), protein (40%), fiber (20%), and fat (10%).
Keep focus and relevance. A well-defined prompt should have a clear purpose and focus, helping to guide the conversation and keep it on track. Avoid using overly broad or open-ended prompts, which can lead to disjointed or unfocused conversations.
Make sure that your prompts are relevant to the user and the conversation and maintain a consistent tone. Avoid introducing unrelated topics or tangents that can distract from the main focus of the conversation.
Get Answers That Are More Than the Sum of Their Parts. Your answers can be seriously improved if you give the AI some ingredients to work with before asking for a response. They could be literal ingredients—suggest a dish from what's left in the fridge—or they could be anything else.
So don't just ask for a murder mystery scenario. Also list out the characters who are going to appear. Don't just ask for ideas of where to go in a city; specify the city you're going to, the types of places you want to see, and the people you'll have with you.
Chained Prompting. Break up complex tasks into several intermediate steps, hoping the AI will generate a more concrete, customized, and better result. This works in a single long prompt as well as in several prompts in a row.
Probably the simplest form of chain prompting is to first ask for the structure of an article. Then you can tell the AI to formulate the corresponding bullet points. This method also saves time: If you notice that the AI is going down a wrong path during the outline, you can make the necessary adjustments before the full text is generated. After the initial response, you may continue the chat to seek additional details asking for more information “Can you suggest other options?” or “Tell me more about X.” Write an article about ChatGPT. First give me the outline, which consists of a headline, a teaser, and several subheadings. [wait for output] Now write five key messages for each subheading. [wait for output] Add five keywords to the key messages for each subheading. [wait for output] And so on …
Chain of thought prompting or autodebugging. This is a variation on the chain prompting technique. Instead of splitting a task into smaller steps, in this approach the model response is instructed to proceed step-by-step and present all the steps involved. Doing so reduces the possibility of inaccuracy of outcomes and makes assessing the model response easier.
This type of prompt not only gives the AI context to use for completion, but also provides a “chain of thought” process that showcases how the correct answer to a question should be reached. This type of prompting elicits reasoning. It even improves arithmetical and logic results, something AI language models struggle with sometimes. Use sentences like “Explain the process step by step”, “Think each step”, "Thinking backwards" or “Cite the reasons behind”. You are an assistant designed to analyze sentiment from speech data. Users will paste in a string of text and you will respond with an assessment of the response of the speaker. Rate on a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest). Explain why this rating was given. You will read a paragraph, and then issue queries to a search engine in order to fact-check it. Also explain the queries. Who was the most decorated (maximum medals) individual athlete in the Olympic games that were held at Sydney? Take a step-by-step approach in your response, cite sources and give reasoning before sharing final answer in the below format: ANSWER is: Classify and list down their various behaviors and cite the reason behind the classification, using the format BEHAVIOR("reason")
Multi-step prompts. For complex queries, you can use multi-step prompts that break down the question into smaller parts. This helps the AI provide more comprehensive answers.
First, explain supervised learning. Second, describe unsupervised learning. Finally, discuss reinforcement learning and its applications.
Zero-Shot Prompt. The most basic and straightforward prompt type there is. What the AI basically does is complete your prompt. That’s the whole magic. So a zero-shot prompt works like a simple question-answer mechanism. You don’t have to use a question, though. Any initial statement works. The AI model will always try to complete it.
Write a bunch of headlines for a blog post about space travel to Jupiter Headline: Coach confident injury won't derail Warriors Topic:
One-Shot Prompt. These types of prompts provide the AI model with one example of what you expect the output to be. The basic steps are: 1) Give a quick explanation of what you need; 2) add a question-answer pair or a template as an example, and 3) let the AI take it from there.
Translate the following sentences to French. Example: 'The dog is playing in the garden.' -> 'Le chien joue dans le jardin.' Translate: 'The cat is sitting on the mat.'
Few-shot Prompt. The AI can intuitively generate plausible completions from few examples. The basic steps are: 1) Give a quick explanation of what you need; 2) add a few question-answer pairs or templates as an example.
This fine-tuning achieves better results on various tasks without requiring examples in the prompt, saving costs and enabling lower-latency requests. Example Training Data: {"prompt":"", "completion":""} {"prompt":"", "completion":""} {"prompt":"", "completion":""} ... Learn the operator based on the following input/output pairs: {"prompt":"2+2=", "completion":"22"} {"prompt":"2+3=", "completion":"23"} {"prompt":"40+2=", "completion":"402"} “1000+3000=” Headline: Twins' Correa to use opt-out, test free agency Topic: Baseball Headline: Qatar World Cup to have zones for sobering up Topic: Soccer Headline: Yates: Fantasy football intel for Week 6 Topic: Football Headline: Coach confident injury won't derail Warriors Topic:
Explore both sides of the conversation. You can use the AI to explore and prepare for a dialogue or an interview. In the voice of , generate a list of 10 interview questions for about AI and the new Bing.
Answer question 5 in the voice of Help me prepare for a podcast interview with . The topic we’ve agreed to discuss is the rise of Artificial Intelligence tools and services. Based on her most recent writing and podcasts, give me 10 questions I should anticipate.
Ask for additional details. After the initial response, you may continue the chat to seek additional details. Encourage the AI to ask questions or provide feedback to keep the conversation interactive and engaging. While the AI is able to provide useful and relevant information, it can sometimes be helpful to encourage it to expand on its responses in order to provide more in-depth information or to delve into related topics. You can do this by asking follow-up questions or by providing additional context or examples to help guide the conversation. You might frequently ask for information, such as:
“How much do each of those cost?”
“Can you create a project calendar for this?”
“Can you suggest other options?”
Tell me more about X.”
Space efficiency. AI models break words into “tokens”. While common multi-syllable words are often a single token, less common words are broken in syllables. Tokens can sometimes be counter-intuitive, as shown by the example below which demonstrates token boundaries for different date formats. In this case, spelling out the entire month is more space efficient than a fully numeric date. The current range of token support goes from 2000 tokens to up to 32,768 tokens.
tokenization results Given this limited space, it is important to use it as efficiently as possible.
Tables –AI models can understand tabular formatted data quite easily. This can be a space efficient way to include data, rather than preceding every field with name (such as with JSON).
White Space – Consecutive whitespaces are treated as separate tokens which can be an easy way to waste space. Spaces preceding a word, on the other hand, are typically treated as part of the same token as the word. Carefully watch your usage of whitespace and don’t use punctuation when a space alone will do.
Prompt self-criticism. The AI is already a useful tool for critiquing texts written by humans – so why shouldn’t this tactic be applicable to texts written by AI?
In line with this idea, the following strategy is divided into two steps: First, the AI should convincingly dissect the text piece by piece. Then, in a second prompt, get the AI to rewrite the text based on those very criticisms. Critique the following text and convince myself why it is not good. Let’s think about the problems of the text step by step. [Previous Output.] Good points. Rewrite the text and improve it based on your critique. [Output]
Prime the output. This refers to including a few words or phrases at the end of the prompt to obtain a model response that follows the desired form. For example, using a cue such as “Here’s a bulleted list of key points:\n- ” can help make sure the output is formatted as a list of bullet points.
You are an AI assistant that helps people find information. Answer in as few words as possible. John Smith is married to Lucy Smith. They have five kids, and he works as a software engineer at Microsoft. What search queries should I do to fact-check this? ## One possible search query is:
Add clear syntax. Using clear syntax for your prompt—including punctuation, headings, and section markers—helps communicate intent and often makes outputs easier to parse.
In the following example, separators (--- in this case) have been added between different sources of information or steps. This allows the use of --- as a stopping condition for generation. In addition, section headings or special variables are presented in uppercase to differentiate them. If you're not sure what syntax to use, consider using Markdown or XML. The models have been trained on a lot of web content in XML and Markdown which may provide better results. You are an AI assistant that helps people find information. NO THANKSUSE THE APP Avila Energy: A Special Situation Investment with Potential for a 1450% Return Avila Energy: A Special Situation Investment with Potential for a 1450% Return Penny Queen pick 05.29.2023 TL:DR Avila is a profitable oil and gas company in Canada with preferred, North American rights to the Ener-Twin consumer power plants. This clean technology is projected to generate gross sales of up to $25 million in 2024. Avila has entered into a business combination agreement to uplist to the Nasdaq through the $INAQ SPAC. I place the value of Avila around 30 cents US without the SPAC. Completion of the SPAC could put the share value at 85 cents US. Because I see the company as being undervalued, and because Avila would also have to pay a penalty to break the agreement, I see this special situation as less risky at this price point. As a reminder, the PQTF peak gains on the prior three special situation stocks have been 146%, 889% and 1370%, but had major issues that if played incorrectly, could have cost people a lot of money. As always, prior performance is not indicative of future performance. I do have a position and intend to do more purchasing and will continue to re-evaluate. As always trading is risky, this is not advice and I am not a financial advisor. XO, PQ Avila Energy (CA: VIK, OTC: PTRVF), an established Canadian oil and gas producer, is on the verge of a potentially transformative merger that could bring immense rewards for its shareholders. The company has agreed to combine with Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) Insight Acquisition (NYSE: INAQ). The proposed transaction, as detailed at the link below, will allow for Avila to up-list onto the Nasdaq, enhance its ongoing carbon-neutral business strategy, and further strengthen the capitalization of the company with an expected combined entity market cap of over $190 Million. This article will discuss the specifics of the deal, Avila's potential to diversify its revenue stream, and how it presents a rare special situation investment opportunity that could potentially lead to a total return of 1450%. A Breakdown of the Deal The Avila and Insight Acquisition merger is a complex one, but is potentially extremely lucrative for existing Avila shareholders. Under the agreement, Insight will continue from the State of Delaware to the Province of Alberta and acquire Avila in an amalgamation pursuant to a court-approved plan of arrangement under Alberta law. According to the agreement, the fully diluted common shares of Avila, currently numbering 150,540,414, will be exchanged for 12,580,000 common shares of Insight Acquisition. This exchange ratio translates to about 11.97 shares of Avila for each share of Insight Acquisition. Avila shareholders will own the following interest in the post-closing combined company: 100% Redemption (Proceeds retained from trust of US$ 1,250,000) 67.2% by Avila's shareholders; 50% Redemption (Proceeds retained from trust of US$15,781,215) 62.4% by Avila's shareholders; 0% Redemption (Proceeds retained from trust of US$29,062,430) 57.9% by Avila's shareholders. At present, Avila shares trade at USD $0.0588 (5.88 cents), while Insight Acquisition shares trade at USD $10.23. However, given the merger and based on the exchange ratio, the post-merger price for each Avila share is projected to rise to around $0.855. This implies a staggering potential increase of up to 1450% for Avila shareholders, and forms the basis of the arbitrage opportunity that Avila presents as a special situation investment. Avila Energy and Its Future Looking beyond the merger, Avila Energy presents an interesting opportunity as a stand-alone company Avila's strategic growth plan is divided into three phases:
Upstream, where it plans to invest towards becoming a low-cost, carbon-neutral energy producer.
Downstream, diversifying its revenue stream through the development of direct-to-consumer sales, aiming to boost demand, margins, and profitability.
Providing customers with the option to convert to Avila’s developing hydrogen-fueled solutions, expected to be commercially available in 2027, as part of its Corporate Vision.
The company has a diversified and growing portfolio of 100%-owned and operated wells, three oil and natural gas processing facilities, 150,000 acres of leased exploration rights, and over 300 kms of gathering and sales pipelines. The P&L displays robust numbers with $3.08 M in net revenue, more than 50% margins, with the majority of the revenue attributable to clean burning natural gas. Avila currently has a 2P valuation of CAD $30.7 Million and a 1P valuation of CAD $7.8 Million with a current market cap of CAD $8.9 Million. As of year-end 2022, the company also had CAD $6.5 Million of cash, CAD $2.067 Million of Debt, and a positive shareholder equity of CAD $53.17 Million. Supported by over a decade of R&D, including Avila's equity investment in Micro Turbine Technology (MTT), this venture promises to leverage innovative cleantech. Avila is aiming to deliver its first direct-to-consumer energy sales in North America in 2023. It also is targeting net-zero tier 3 (scope 3) CO2 emission energy for consumers by 2027. The EnerTwin is a small, environmentally friendly power plant that simultaneously produces heat and electricity using the smallest gas turbine in the world. It runs on natural gas, LPG, biomethane, and hydrogen mixes, and thereby facilitates the energy transition to a low-carbon future in buildings. Avila Energy says it has purchased a license for the manufacturing and marketing of the EnerTwin in the North American market. Beginning in 2026, Avila plans to sell 50,000 EnerTwin systems in North America as part of an integrated offering that also includes the provision of energy to their end customers. To achieve this goal, the company has laid out the following timeline: 1) 2nd quarter of 2023 the preparation and filing of the application for the Canadian Standards Association (“CSA”) and Underwriter Laboratories (“UL”) Certifications for the EnerTwin in North America, based on past applications for CSA approval of KIWA certified equipment. The Company has estimated that this process is anticipated to 10-12 months in duration. 1st half of 2023 the commencement of pre-sales and servicing of the EnerTwin that are conditional on the Company attaining CSA and UL approval. In the event that the CSA and UL approval is not attained, the sales would be refunded to customers. 2) The development of the Company’s manufacturing of the EnerTwin, including the assembly or 3rd part manufactured subassemblies and the final testing prior to shipping to the customer. The ramp up of this manufacturing facility is to be completed in parallel to the CSA approval, with the first 100 installations being demonstration installations to be replace by CSA approved equipment within targeted markets in North America utilizing the EnerTwin as KIWA Certified equipment. 3) Initial contracts are anticipated to be executed 3 months after receiving CSA Certification. The Company’s Vertically Integrated Energy Business is based on the following assumptions: a) Power, Heat, Cooling and Daily Transportation in one invoice; b) Reduce Consumers Carbon footprint by 40% and save the consumer money; c) Mitigates concern for brownouts and protection from increasing transmission fees; d) Fixed Contract plus only an annual inflation adjustment; and e) Capacity to transition to Hydrogen in the future. The Company’s long-term goal is to allocate a portion of its natural gas production to its newly acquired customers as a source of fuel with the cost of energy being billed to the customer at a fixed price plus an annual inflation rate adjustment. The Company’s strategy is to include the delivery of fuel and the maintenance, under long-term contracts that offers price stability. The Company plans to continue to still sell their current suite of customers in addition to the newly acquired customers from the Vertically Integrated Business. The Company assumes early market development will qualify for government subsidies both in Canada and the United States as an efficient upgrade and or substitute for current heating and cooling. For example, the Company anticipates that the EnerTwin will qualify under the existing Canadian Greener Homes Program which will offer rebates on eligible home retrofits. Conclusion: A Rare Opportunity Special situation investments like Avila's proposed SPAC up listing do not come often. They offer a chance for significant potential returns but are also complex and require a deep understanding of the specifics of the deal. For Avila shareholders, the potential upside of 1450% presents a remarkable opportunity. However, potential investors should conduct their own research and due diligence or consult with a financial advisor before making any decisions. With Avila's strong business foundation, ambitious future plans, and the exciting prospect of itsup listing through the merger with Insight Acquisition, the future indeed looks bright.

Introduction Home inspections are a vital part of the real estate process, providing potential buyers and homeowners with a comprehensive assessment of a property’s condition. These inspections aim to identify any existing or potential issues that could affect the safety, functionality, and value of a home. In recent years, thermal imaging has emerged as a valuable tool in conducting thorough and efficient home inspections. By detecting temperature variations, thermal imaging can uncover hidden problems that may not be visible to the naked eye. In this article, we will explore the importance of thermal imaging in home inspections and how it can benefit both buyers and homeowners. Understanding Thermal Imaging Thermal imaging utilizes infrared technology to capture and analyze temperature patterns emitted by objects and surfaces. It works by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by objects, converting it into a visual representation called a thermogram. The resulting image displays variations in temperature, with warmer areas appearing as brighter colors and cooler areas as darker colors. To perform a thermal inspection, a qualified professional uses a thermal imaging camera. These cameras are equipped with special sensors that can detect and measure infrared radiation accurately. They are designed to capture and interpret temperature variations, allowing inspectors to identify potential issues that may be otherwise hidden from view. The Importance of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections Identifying Hidden Issues One of the primary reasons thermal imaging is crucial in-home inspections is its ability to detect hidden issues. Many problems, such as insulation deficiencies, air leaks, and moisture intrusion, may not be immediately visible to the naked eye. Thermal imaging can reveal temperature differences that indicate these problems, enabling inspectors to pinpoint their exact locations. Insulation deficiencies: Inadequate insulation can result in significant energy loss and increased utility bills. Thermal imaging can quickly identify areas with insufficient insulation by detecting temperature variations along walls, ceilings, and floors. This allows homeowners to take corrective measures and improve energy efficiency. Air leaks and drafts: Air leaks can significantly impact a home’s comfort and energy efficiency. Thermal imaging can reveal gaps and cracks in the building envelope, as well as areas where drafts are entering or escaping. By identifying these issues, homeowners can address them promptly, reducing energy waste and enhancing indoor comfort. Moisture intrusion and water damage: Moisture intrusion can lead to mold growth, rot, and structural damage. Thermal imaging can detect hidden moisture by identifying cooler areas caused by water absorption or leaks. This early detection allows homeowners to mitigate the damage before it becomes extensive and costly. Enhancing Electrical Inspections Electrical issues pose serious safety hazards and are often difficult to detect visually. Thermal imaging can help inspectors identify electrical faults and potential fire hazards by detecting abnormal heat patterns. Overheating electrical components, loose connections, and overloaded circuits can be quickly identified using thermal imaging. This early detection can prevent electrical fires and protect the occupants of the home. Identifying Plumbing Issues Thermal imaging can be instrumental in locating plumbing issues that are not immediately apparent. It can detect hidden leaks behind walls, ceilings, or floors by identifying temperature differences caused by moisture. By pinpointing the precise location of leaks, homeowners can minimize water damage and reduce the risk of mold growth. Thermal imaging is also valuable in evaluating the efficiency of radiant heating systems. It can identify areas of heat loss or malfunctioning components, ensuring optimal performance and comfort within the home. Detecting Structural Anomalies Thermal imaging can help uncover structural anomalies that may not be visible during a traditional visual inspection. It can detect heat loss or thermal bridging in walls, windows, and roofs, indicating potential insulation issues or energy inefficiencies. Additionally, thermal imaging can identify foundation cracks or areas of excessive moisture, providing early warning signs of potential structural defects. 📷Advantages of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections Thermal imaging offers several advantages over traditional visual inspections in the context of home inspections: Non-invasive and Non-Destructive: Thermal imaging is a non-invasive and non-destructive method of inspection. It does not require physical contact with the surfaces being examined, minimizing the disruption to the property and reducing the risk of further damage. Time and Cost Efficiency: Thermal imaging enables inspectors to identify issues quickly and efficiently. It can detect problems that may otherwise require extensive manual investigation or even invasive testing. By streamlining the inspection process, thermal imaging saves both time and costs for homeowners and buyers. Comprehensive and Accurate Assessments: Thermal imaging provides a comprehensive assessment of a property’s condition. It offers a visual representation of temperature differences, allowing inspectors to identify multiple issues simultaneously. This comprehensive approach ensures a more accurate evaluation of the property’s overall health and helps prioritize repairs and maintenance. Enhanced Safety and Risk Mitigation: Thermal imaging can identify potential safety hazards such as electrical faults or overheating components. By detecting these issues early on, homeowners can take appropriate measures to address them promptly, minimizing the risk of accidents, injuries, or property damage. Limitations of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections While thermal imaging is a valuable tool, it also has some limitations that need to be considered: External Factors Influencing Accuracy: External factors, such as weather conditions, can affect the accuracy of thermal imaging. Factors like solar radiation, wind, or reflective surfaces can distort temperature readings and impact the interpretation of the thermograms. Therefore, it is essential for inspectors to consider and account for these factors during the inspection process. Interpretation Challenges and the Need for Expertise: Thermal imaging requires expertise in interpreting thermograms accurately. Identifying potential issues and distinguishing them from normal temperature variations can be challenging, especially in complex building structures. Inspectors with specialized training and experience in thermal imaging are better equipped to analyze the results accurately. Limitations in Identifying Certain Issues: Thermal imaging is not a foolproof method for detecting all types of issues. For example, it cannot identify mold or asbestos directly, as they do not emit significant temperature variations. Additionally, certain hidden problems, such as structural defects deep within walls, may not be detectable through thermal imaging alone. Therefore, thermal imaging should be used in conjunction with other inspection techniques to ensure a comprehensive assessment. Case Studies and Real-Life Examples To understand the practical applications of thermal imaging in home inspections, let’s explore a few case studies and real-life examples: Insulation Deficiencies: During a home inspection, thermal imaging identified areas of inadequate insulation in the attic. The temperature variations revealed heat loss, indicating insufficient insulation coverage. This information allowed homeowners to take corrective measures, resulting in improved energy efficiency and reduced utility bills. Electrical Faults: Thermal imaging detected an overheating electrical component within a wall during an inspection. This early identification enabled the homeowner to address the issue promptly, preventing a potential electrical fire and ensuring the safety of the property. Hidden Water Damage: In a home inspection, thermal imaging uncovered a hidden water leak in a bathroom wall. The temperature differences detected by the camera indicated moisture intrusion. By locating the precise source of the leak, the homeowner was able to repair the plumbing and prevent further water damage and mold growth. The Future of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections As technology continues to advance, the future of thermal imaging in home inspections looks promising. Here are a few potential developments to look out for: Technological Advancements and Improvements: Thermal imaging cameras are becoming more compact, affordable, and user-friendly. Ongoing advancements in sensor technology and image processing algorithms are likely to enhance the accuracy and quality of thermal imaging results. Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Thermal Imaging: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize thermal imaging in home inspections. AI algorithms can be trained to analyze and interpret thermal images, automating the detection of anomalies and improving the efficiency of inspections. Machine learning techniques can help AI systems learn from vast amounts of data, enabling them to identify patterns and abnormalities more accurately over time. Potential Impact on Home Inspection Standards and Regulations: The increasing adoption of thermal imaging in home inspections may lead to changes in industry standards and regulations. As thermal imaging becomes a more widely accepted and integrated tool, regulatory bodies may update guidelines to include specific requirements for thermal inspections. This could further emphasize the importance of thermal imaging as a standard practice in home inspections. Conclusion Thermal imaging has emerged as a valuable tool in modern home inspections, providing insights into hidden issues that may not be apparent during visual inspections. By detecting temperature variations, thermal imaging can identify insulation deficiencies, air leaks, plumbing issues, electrical faults, and structural anomalies. Its non-invasive nature, time and cost efficiency, comprehensive assessments, and enhanced safety benefits make it an essential component of a thorough home inspection. While thermal imaging has limitations and requires expertise for accurate interpretation, it remains a powerful tool in the hands of qualified inspectors. As technology advances, with the integration of AI and improvements in camera technology, the future of thermal imaging in home inspections holds great promise. It is likely to become an even more integral part of the industry, contributing to improved safety, energy efficiency, and informed decision-making for homeowners and buyers alike.

I have done my best to represent the facts as I know them, if you find any errors, please let me know: [email protected] I have also created a subreddit and will have a channel available in the Penny Queen Discord.
2023.05.30 20:50 Ecstatic_Yak5134I'm on it but hopeless
seriously hopeless. I'm 21, just had an addiction of masturbation and had some social issues like anxiety or fear. I'm on 6. day and focused on the things I have to do, gym, my courses, english speaking club (it's not started yet) etc. The biggest anxiety I have about my future is socilizing, really jeaolus about other men who have girlfriend. It's like I'm unworthy to a woman like me. I'm planing to try daygame after my last exams. Will Nofap end my fears until that time?

2023.05.30 20:29 capedcrusader522023 Nats Park Guide
Hello all, given the fact one of most common posts we seem to get on the subreddit is tips/advice for coming to Nats Park either from Visiting Fans or First Times. I thought it would be a good idea to get a decent size run-down of all the things new and "old" this season at Nats Park and the surrounding area to help ensure a good experience by all (If I forgot something please comment, my brain can only hold so much Nats Park knowledge). Old:
Nats Souvenir Soda purchase means unlimited refills during game. I've heard tales you could use the cup throughout the season for unlimited refills but those days seem to have passed. Given the price of a regular soda is 6.49 and a Souvenir Soda is 10.99, this is one of the better deals in the park.
First Game/Foul Ball/Home Run Certificates. If you go to Guest Services (located behind Sections 103, 131 and 320) you can get a certificates for these events. Additionally on first game you get a button, which might be something your kid will enjoy.
Cashless Ball Park. The Ballpark is all cashless for better or worse. A pro-tip is to use mobile ordering (on the MLB Ballpark App) cause sometimes previous coupon codes will work a day or two after they were supposed to expire. Common ones that have worked: BUD, BUDHAPPY, VALUE. This can be helpful when you consider a cost of a single beer can be 14.99.
Kids Run the Bases. All kids age 4-12 are invited to run the bases at Nationals Park after every Sunday afternoon home game, weather permitting. Kids will start their run at first base and they will be directed around the bases to home plate.
Signature Sundays. Two Nationals players will sign autographs for fans at every Sunday home game all season long. Autographs will take place at the top of the Nationals dugout starting one hour prior to first pitch, weather permitting and subject to player schedules. Fans must obtain a free voucher in order to participate in the autograph sessions – vouchers will be distributed on a first come, first served basis at Section 103, starting when the gates open 90 minutes before first pitch. Fans are limited to one autograph voucher per person. These tend to go very very fast even in our current state of the franchise.
Grandstand Tickets: These are $5 tickets available starting 90 minutes from first pitch, there are some rare exclusions and you will be sitting way up top but probably the best ticket deal you can get. You do need the MLB Ballpark APP to get the tickets though.
Bags. I'm just gonna link it here cause shits complicated yo. here
Middle of Fourth Inning is typically when the mascots (Presidents) come out and race. Very looney Tooney. (LET TEDDY WIN!!)
Food: You can take food into the park whether it be a snack bag or Chipotle bowl. It just has to be a single serve item (no whole pizzas) and can't be in a glass or metal container. They say only water is in, but I've seen folks take soda in. So who actually knows. As far a takeout options will list below since some are new.
New:
Food options in the park. Besides your standard hot dog (Hebrew national) and chicken tenders there are a few "local" places in the park that are worth noting: Ben's Chili Bowl (chili dogs), Capo Deli (italian subs), La Casita (Pupusas [Salvadorian "Quesadillas"]) , Swizzler (burgers and chicken sandwiches), Arepa Zone(Venezuelan food), Capital City Mambo Sauce (wings), ShakeShack, Rocklands BBQ, Roaming Rooster. Additionally some other places to note in the Park: Haute Dog (for my money the best hot dogs in the park), Jammin’ Island BBQ (Jerk Chicken and one of the better food deals), South Mountain Creamery (one of the few ice cream joints in the park , but warning melts fast).
Also this is a Budweiser Park for better or worse so Bud, Bud Light, Michelob will dominate the landscape. That being said there has been a small influx of local beers into the stadium notably from Atlas to Devil's Backbone. Additionally Golden Road has a presence as well. I will also note that in the year of our lord 2023, I did end up finding Miller Lite being sold in Nats Park during the last home stand the Nats had.
To the surprise of no one, this is a Coca-Cola Park so there's that. Sorry you weird Pepsi Lovers.
Food options outside of Park: Walter's Sports Bar, Mission, Royal Sands, Atlas Brew Work (has an Andy's inside which for my money is one of the best if not the best pizza in DC for what's that worth), Bullpen, Buffalo Wild Wings, Silver Diner, Chicken & Whiskey (Peruvian Chicken great for taking inside the park), Swizzler (if you want a burger go here and save like $10 vs inside the park), Chipotle, Rasa, Greene Turtle, Dacha Beer Garden, Salt Line (Zimmerman owns a stake in them), Solace Outpost (great on hot days cause it gets really breezy there), Bluejacket Brewery. As of now despite previous reputation of being a good burger place, don't visit Duke's Grocery.
Seating in Ballpark:
So the Homeplate faces NorthEast-ish. This means on sunny days, the home side of the stadium gets absolutely baked. This to me is the biggest flaw about the stadium cause that also means the outfield view is random apartment buildings. So for 1pm-4pm gametime, any ticket in the sections 128-143, 106-100,218-243, 317-321, and 416-420 are just in for a bad time. If 7pm don't worry becomes relatively tolerable. Also if you are determined to get a foul ball sections 133-134 and 112-114 see a sizable amount of action. Best chance for home run is probably sections 106-105.
Terra Club: These seats are directly behind home plate. If you ever watched a ball game and noticed the people sitting behind the batter, those are Terra Club Seats. These seats come with a pregame meal from a chef, all inclusive food and beverage during the game (just beer and wine I believe), also this stuff comes with in-seat service (like a waiter), a climate controlled indoor club area, and a private bathroom. (Full disclosure never been so very much transcribing the website)
Diamond Club: Very similar to Terra club except you sit a bit higher up and don't get a pre-game meal. That's pretty much the only differences I know of. (Full disclosure never been so very much transcribing the website)
Champions Club: Sits in the 200s section of the ballpark (Champions club is 206 to 221, the other 200 sections don't give you access to the club). The highlight feature in the Champions Club are unlimited Soda, access to the Duke's Grocery in the ballpark, and shorter concession lines. Additionally this is where they keep the world series trophy next any other awards like Golden Gloves and the like. Indoor seating is included as well. (Full disclosure never been so very much transcribing from other reports)
Fans in Ballpark:
Overall Fans are pretty welcoming in the ballpark. Not a whole of jeering or boos for rival teams. In fact umps probably see the worst of it. We very much aren't Philadelphia.
2023.05.30 20:28 NewYearsDA Detailed Post-Trip Report 2 Weeks in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) 28/M/US
I spent 2 weeks traveling through Japan - Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and I'm writing this for those who are thinking about visiting. To preface, I did travel with a friend but spent a lot of time on my own. I'll cover as much as possible. Pre-Trip I booked a flight with American Airlines / Delta Airlines for $590 round-trip three months before departing. I flew out of Los Angeles to Tokyo (Haneda). The trip started on February 9 and ended on February 20. I booked my accommodation before arriving in Japan. I used Hostelworld and Agoda. More about the hostels and hotels I booked are below. COVID Screening and Visa information for US Citizens only During the time I visited, Japan still required visitors to be fully vaccinated and have a pre-screening for arrival. First I had to do a pre-screening for American Airlines on VeriFly (please do this a day before checking in at the airport if so). Then, save yourself time and use Visit Japan Web (http://vjw-lp.digital.go.jp/en/) and do the pre-screening requirements a couple of days before departure. When you land in Tokyo, immediately after deplaning, swaths of airport personnel ask if you have the screener filled out and ready to go. If you don’t, they put you to the side and ask you to fill it out using the airport’s wifi. It takes time and you still have to go through customs after. Visas for US citizens is a free, 3-month visa if I recall correctly. Bring your COVID vaccination card just in case they ask for it. Tech/Phone I took my iPhone 14 Pro (unlocked) and connected buying Ubigi 10gb data plan. Do this before flying to Japan. When you land, you can activate your data plan directly on your phone. I didn’t get pocket wifi as the Ubigi worked perfectly. Download the Ubigi app. They give instructions but please follow them. Apps that I used: Google Maps: you can download offline maps. Google Translate: Use this everywhere you go. You can use the camera feature and it can translate Japanese to English really great. It saved me a lot of hassle when ordering at restaurants. Currency Converter You might want to download a VPN if you want to use Netflix and such. Express VPN is one I’d recommend. Money/Currency I took my Charles Schwab debit card and a backup Chase credit card/Chase debit card. Surprisingly, a lot of stores in Japan are cash-heavy; especially small shops and restaurants. My budget for the trip was $2000 with flights included. Hostels and hotels were around $20-35 USD. Food prices were about $7-$20 a meal. It can get really expensive if you eat at fine dining restaurants. That being said, I stuck to eating mostly at hole-in-the-wall establishments where no English was spoken. Believe me when I say that the best ramen I ever had was only $7 USD. More on what restaurants I recommend are down below. If you really want to save money, don’t buy alcohol. A solid budget for me was $60-$80 per day without lodging expenses. Some days, I only spent $40 which was all food (I spare no expense for food), then some days I went over because I bought cool souvenirs for myself and some excursions were pricey. You can visit Japan for less but I didn’t want to money pinch myself because I was only there for 2 weeks. Transportation I love Japan for this reason. So here’s my take: If you are visiting Japan for exactly 14 days; get the JR Pass on Klook. You buy this a month before departing your home country. For me, Klook delivered it about a week after I bought it over Mail. You could buy either a 7, 14, or 21-day JR pass so I would recommend planning a trip that matches these exact number of days to get the most out of your money. Now imagine you’re in Japan. It is your first day officially visiting…go to a JR Pass office at any major train station and ask them to redeem your pass. They will ask for the paper ticket that arrived in the mail to your home and they will ask for your passport. After they verify that it is you, they will give you a small ticket which will be your JR pass. DO NOT LOSE THIS! I believe they will not replace it. On how to use it, check out this video. Now to navigate, I used a combination of Google Maps and Apple Maps to get around. Use whichever one is more comfortable for you. These 2 apps are really exceptional at mapping out the best routes and the times trains depart. Note: the JR Pass only works for JR rail lines! Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka all have their own subways and train lines with their own payment system. More on this… So the best way to get around the city is using a Suica card. These are sold virtually at any train station. If you can't find it, ask a train station attendant and say “Suica?”. They point you in the right direction. A Suica card can be refilled unlimited times and can be used for any rail lines (JR included, but not for Bullet Trains). It is used by tapping at the turnstiles to enter the rails and at any vending machine in Japan! Also at arcades! It is a total mindblower haha Also in Tokyo, some hostels or hotels have a 3-day subway pass for cheap. Bullet Trains - You can use the Shinkansen bullet trains if you have the JR Pass. Make an important note: You can only ride the Hikari or Sakura trains with your JR Pass. The Nozomi and Mizuho are reserved seating and cost extra because they have fewer stops. If they catch you using these rail lines, they will ask you to get off the next stop or worse, fine you and report you. To see Mount Fuji from Tokyo to Kyoto/Osaka, sit on the right side of the train (right side of the direction it is going). Use Google Maps and Apple Maps to pinpoint when to look out the window. Food I usually ate sandwiches and pastries from 7-Eleven in the morning or whenever I needed to pack a lunch. It was a great way to save cash and the food was delicious. High-quality foods and snacks. As I said earlier, I really spare no expense for good, big meals. I save money at 7-Eleven so I can go all out for lunch and dinner. My go-to meal was usually ramen because it was so damn good. I tried a lot of foods. I’ll try and remember which ones I ate: - Ramen - Okonomiyaki - Unagi - Katsu Curry - Taiyaki - Tempura - Japanese cheesecake - Macha ice cream - Macha waffles - Onigiri - And a lot of different ice creams, confectionary snacks - McDonald’s - please try lol they have interesting combinations Pack List I used a 40-liter Osprey backpack. 1 scarf 1 beanie 2 cotton t-shirts 2 thermal polyester long-sleeve shirts (Odor resistant) 2 pairs of joggers 1 pair of Nike thermal leggings 8 pairs of Nike Dri-Fit boxers (lost 1) 4 pairs of ankle socks 3 pairs of Darn Tough Merino wool blend socks (Highly recommend, Odor resistant) 1 parka 1 pair of Adidas Ultraboost shoes 1 Hershel toiletries bag 2 Forge cable combination locks External battery pack (13000 mAh) Bose QC-25 noise-canceling headphones Over the course of the trip, I bought a much-needed 30L Patagonia day backpack I don’t sweat heavily so I re-wore my shirts, the Merino wool blend socks, and joggers. I did my laundry maybe once or twice at the hostels. It was freezing at the time I went, so I usually layered up when temperatures were lower than usual. Safety I am a 6'1" (1.85 m) male with a light brown complexion. I felt safe most of my time there. I think it was the safest country I have ever been to. Some Japanese people are known to be racist but I didn’t experience it. So I wouldn’t worry about it. Itinerary/Activities Feb 9 Day 1 Tokyo Feb 10 Day 2 Tokyo Feb 11 Day 3 Tokyo (Day Trip to Odiaba/Yokohama) Feb 12 Day 4 Osaka Feb 13 Day 5 Osaka (Day Trip to Hime-ji Castle/Kobe) Feb 14 Day 6 Osaka (Day Trip to Nara) Feb 15 Day 7 Kyoto Feb 16 Day 8 Kyoto Feb 17 Day 9 Kyoto Feb 18 Day 10 Tokyo Feb 19 Day 11 Tokyo Feb 20 Day 12 Tokyo (Fly Out) I will put a star (*) next to anything that I highly recommend! 2 stars are for more emphasis! Goes without saying but please respect the local customs.
Please learn how to say “Thank You” in Japanese! Just learning and using “Arigato” anywhere you go will make you seem like you care and respect everyone. Nothing was more embarrassing than watching an American say “thank you” to a Japanese person.
Plan to do the major tourist attractions early in the morning. You will get nice pictures without any tourists and you’ll sometimes get the whole temple complex to yourself. The staff will also be more friendly and willing to chat with you. I usually aim to be at temples around 7:00 when they open.
Use Google Translate for everything! You can have full conversations with friendly Japanese people when using the conversation feature on the app! Use the camera feature to translate Kanji at restaurants that do not offer an English menu.
Get a Ubigi data plan, I bought 10GB and it had good service anywhere I went. Get more GB if you plan on staying longer.
I ate at 7-Eleven most of the time when I was too lazy or tired to go out. The 7-Elevens here in Japan are nothing like the ones in the US. Expect to find high-quality sandwiches, Onigiri, and more Japanese snacks.
Shop at supermarkets near the end of the day (1 hour before closing) and they usually mark down prepped meals half-off or at a discounted price! If you really on a budget, this can help you to save a ton of money and still get a taste of the local cuisine.
If you need to buy random stuff like clothes, bags, or toiletries; go shop at any Don Quijote or Tokyu Hands department store. They have other shops too that are great to find cool stuff.
Use Google Translate to translate English to Kanji (Japanese) and use Kanji to find restaurants that are hidden because they don’t use English words. For example, if you want to find the best ramen place, search “拉麺” and you’ll find hidden gems with 5-star reviews!
The best souvenir I brought back myself was a Goshuincho. These are “honorable stamp/seal book” used by people visiting shrines or temples. If you want more info, google this! I highly recommend doing this!
If you have any questions, comment below or send a DM. Peace!
2023.05.30 20:25 yousmelllikebiscuitsTennessee's 2024 Football Recruiting Class Update: Peyton Lewis Commitment
Tennessee adds another blue-chipper with the commitment of 2024 4* RB Peyton Lewis. Lewis announced his commitment surrounded by Tennessee staff, current commits, and future Vols during the '865 Live' recruiting event in Knoxville over the weekend (last year was called RockyTopalooza). This event was jam packed with other blue chip recruits and included a scavenger hunt, a putt putt golf contest, and a talent show. The Salem, VA native gives Heupel's staff their TWELFTH commitment in the 2024 class choosing Tennessee over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Lewis was offered by the Vols in February 2023 and "always had aspirations of playing at Tennessee" so the commitment came just a few short months afterwards. Tennessee anchors itself inside the Top 10 at #8 sandwiched between Florida State (#9) and Penn State (#7). See the other commitments below:
247 Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong said Vols were in "pole position" going into summer Official Visits. OV scheduled for 6/9/23. Primary competition: Oklahoma and Texas A&M
UT CRYSTAL BALL PREDICTION - OV scheduled for 6/23. Primary competition: Clemson and Wisconsin
Recruiting Notes
The team rankings do not include Amari Jefferson as a UT football commit but I have included him here due to his baseball commitment to Tennessee. Jefferson has been taking football visits and it is clear that Tennessee will be a finalist.
2024 4* ATH Jonathan Echols has announced he is being recruited to play TE at Tennessee.
'865 Live' Recruiting Event had some very big names in addition to some of the top targets above including...
