2023.03.25 11:45 LoreleiNOLA Possible senior dementia advice
My 18 y/o deaf (from age) gal has always been a "talker" for meal times and scratches and such. Lately she has had loud long bouts of just high pitched meowing, for no reason. It's fine during the day, but it's starting to occur regularly at night around 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m... she seems to want something but there's nothing to be had, so I think she might the experiencing dementia. This also affects the other animals I have as everybody needs to react to the impressive volume.
I just adore the little lady and I'm so proud of her, and I can't get mad and I don't want to cause her any distress.
Might anybody here have some experience along these lines as well as some suggestions on how to address?
She may be retired, but I am not!

2023.03.25 11:44 SteveOMatt Marvel Cinematic Universe Tie-In Comics - Definitive Reading Order
So, a while ago I decided I wanted to read all the MCU comics that tie in to the films and stuff because I've read a couple here and there, but just wanted to get the full story and get a little more MCU. One thing I noticed is that there isn't much in the way of reading orders online other than just lists of said comics. Even then most of the lists separate adaptations from preludes and it becomes confusing.
I decided to just do it myself in this post. If you're interested in also reading the tie-in comics, I think they're worth looking into and is an interesting way to go through the MCU again without watching all the movies.
The way I've sorted them is not so much timeline order and it's not order of release for the comics. This is because a lot of the "preludes" are just adaptations of previous films in the series. It all just gets a bit messy. But I've cleaned it up and made things easier to go through, so here you go (the brackets are the description of what the comic actually is):
PHASE ONE - Iron Man: I Am Iron Man (Iron Man Film Adaptation)
- Iron Man 2: Public Identity (Iron Man 2 Prelude)
- Iron Man 2: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Iron Man 2 Prelude)
- Iron Man 2 Adaptation (Iron Man 2 Film Adaptation)
- Thor Adaptation (Thor Film Adaptation)
- Captain America: First Vengeance (Captain America: The First Avenger Prelude)
- Captain America: The First Avenger Adaptation (Captain America: The First Avenger Film Adaptation)
- The Avengers Prelude: Fury's Big Week (The Avengers Prelude)
- The Avengers Prelude: Black Widow Strikes (The Avengers Prelude)
- The Avengers Adaptation (The Avengers Film Adaptation)
PHASE TWO - Iron Man 3 Prelude (Iron Man 3 Prelude)
- Thor: The Dark World Prelude (Thor: The Dark World Prelude)
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier Prelude (Captain America: The Winter Soldier Prelude)
- Thor: Ragnarok Prelude (The Incredible Hulk Film Adaptation & Thor: The Dark World Film Adaptation)
- Captain America: Civil War Prelude (Iron Man 3 Film Adaptation & Captain America: The Winter Soldier Film Adaptation)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude (Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Prequel Infinite Comic (Guardians of the Galaxy Prelude)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Prelude (Guardians of the Galaxy Film Adaptation)
- Jessica Jones (Jessica Jones Prelude)
- Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude - The Scepter'd Isle (Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude)
- Ant-Man Prelude (Ant-Man Prelude)
- Ant-Man - Scott Lang: Small Time (Ant-Man Prelude)
- Ant-Man and the Wasp Prelude (Ant-Man Film Adaptation)
PHASE THREE - Captain America: Civil War Prelude Infinite Comic (Captain America: Civil War Prelude)
- Spider-Man: Homecoming Prelude (Captain America: Civil War Film Adaptation)
- Doctor Strange Prelude (Doctor Strange Prelude)
- Doctor Strange Prelude - The Zealot (Doctor Strange Prelude)
- Spider-Man: Far From Home Prelude (Spider-Man: Homecoming Film Adaptation)
- Black Panther Prelude (Black Panther Prelude)
- Avengers: Infinity War Prelude (Avengers: Infinity War Prelude)
- Avengers: Endgame Prelude (Avengers: Infinity War Film Adaptation)
- Captain Marvel Prelude (Captain Marvel Prelude)
PHASE FOUR - Black Window Prelude (Black Widow Prelude)
- Eternals: The 500 Year War (Eternals Prelude)
That's it I'm afraid, that's how they all end. It is a shame they stopped doing them in the end as some are actually pretty good and you can understand what I mean about some of the naming conventions being confusing. Hopefully this can clear the fog for people who want to go through them all again, a lot of them you can find free in places like Comixology if you're interested.
I kinda wish they did some more, especially with the Disney Plus series, maybe some of them could have been flushed out a little more? But alas, Eternals is where it all ends and even then that comic is different in style to the rest.

2023.03.25 11:44 CoolGuess What if some of our favorite actors had been replaced in those roles? Here are some imagined scenarios of different Bollywood actors in famous Bollywood movies. Which of these would you have really wanted to see.
- Shah Rukh Khan in "Dangal" Could you imagine the "King of Romance" playing a tough wrestler like Mahavir Singh Phogat? While Shah Rukh Khan has played a wide range of characters in his career, this role would definitely be a departure from his usual romantic hero roles.
- Aamir Khan in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" What if the perfectionist Aamir Khan had played the lead role of Raj in the classic romantic film "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" instead of Shah Rukh Khan? It would have been interesting to see Aamir Khan's take on the charming and fun-loving Raj.
- Salman Khan in "3 Idiots" While Salman Khan is known for his larger-than-life roles and action-packed performances, what if he had been cast as the lead in the coming-of-age film "3 Idiots"? It would be interesting to see him play the role of Rancho, the genius who defies societal expectations and follows his dreams.
- Deepika Padukone in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" Kajol's performance in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" is unforgettable, but what if Deepika Padukone had played the role of Anjali instead? She has proven herself as a versatile actress, and it would be intriguing to see her play a spunky, rebellious character like Anjali.
- Hrithik Roshan in "Baahubali" Prabhas became a household name with his performance in the epic blockbuster "Baahubali". But what if Hrithik Roshan had played the lead role of Baahubali instead? He has shown his versatility in a range of roles and it would be interesting to see him take on this larger-than-life character.
- What if Salman Khan was replaced by Shah Rukh Khan in "Dabangg"? It would have been interesting to see Shah Rukh's charm and wit in the role of Chulbul Pandey, which was originally played by Salman.
- What if Kareena Kapoor Khan was replaced by Deepika Padukone in "Jab We Met"? Deepika's bubbly and energetic personality would have been a great fit for the role of Geet, which was originally played by Kareena.
- What if Ranbir Kapoor was replaced by Ranveer Singh in "Rockstar"? Ranveer's flamboyant and energetic persona could have brought a different energy to the character of Jordan, which was originally played by Ranbir.
- What if Aamir Khan was replaced by Akshay Kumar in "Lagaan"? It would have been interesting to see Akshay Kumar's charisma and comic timing in the role of Bhuvan, which was originally played by Aamir.

2023.03.25 11:35 NextAdvance2976 Edoryä homebrew campaign setting: #1 (world basics)
Introduction Hi reddit! I've been playing a Dungeons and Dragons campaign in a homebrew campaign setting for over two years. So I just thought it would be nice for you and for me to share with you what I already know about my world. (Maybe this post also has a place on the Worldbuilding subreddit?) This post will be released in several parts which should arrive in the following days. Hoping that you like it !
What is Edoryä? Edoryä is the name given by the elves to the Material Plane but which was then taken up by almost all other cultures to designate the World. It's a rich and expansive High Fantasy world (a bit darker in places) with late medieval technology. Many different kingdoms and dozens of unique races spanned the four continents of Dovania, Ta'nari, Atane, Ukrai, and Ikza. Edoryä is full of fantastic environments: from the black sand desert of Chur'muzzor, through the skyland of Zynx, to the mountains of the Dragon's Teeth and so on. Come and discover the 230 playable races offered by this campaign setting, the hundreds of kingdoms, a unique magic system and a rich and epic History.
Religion Originally there were three primordial goddesses: Izra (Isis), Avoree (Hera), and Larone (Hella). These three sister goddesses have spawned the three families of gods: the House of Dawn, the House of Noon, and the House of Twilight, which then make up all the other deities descended from the three goddesses. The Church of Dawn, the Church of Noon and the Church of Twilight are the three most powerful and widespread religious forces (at least on the continent of Dovania) but many other pantheons exist and more or less coexist peacefully (the Elvish Triad, the House of the Anvil and the Hammer, or even the Celestial Bureaucracy). The gods live in the Outer Planes that make up the multiverse (see below in the post) but some minor deities like the demigods have a home on the Material Plane. Finally there are also certain entities that do not fit into any pantheons, the Elemental Gods, the Great Old Ones, the Arch Fairies, the terrifying Demon Lords, the vile Archdevils or the ignoble Pandaemons. The different cults have engaged in many holy wars in history to bring more power to their divinity because the truth and that the gods and goddesses draw their divine power from the veneration that brings them mortals. Some deities in the past have not been able to attract enough worshipers to become a god worthy of the name, some of these failed gods have at best become great spirits or protective saints, at worst they have simply ceased to exist.
Magic and types of Magic In Edoryä magic is rare and can be very dangerous if not properly wielded. Some individuals called "awakened" are able to use magic as they please, but often this comes at a price. Magic also imbues certain objects and places some creatures are able to wield magic naturally. The Awakened's birth percentage rate depends entirely on their race (elves for example are more prone to magic than orcs) and place of birth. In order not to have to rewrite all the spells of D&D 5e, I have for the moment decided to take their model of the types of magic, by adding several other types.
- Arcane Magic: Spellcasters who wield arcane magic (such as wizards, bards, or artificers) draw magic from what I call "Magic Streams" or "Magic Winds." Kinds of invisible flows sweeping Edoryä like sea currents. Each Magical Wind corresponds to a School of Magic: abjuration, illusion, necromancer, invocation and so on. To be able to cast an illusion spell, for example, the spell caster will have to channel the Wind of Illusion in order to be able to draw from it the energy necessary to cast his spell. Magical Winds are usually calm but just like with real wind, there can be magical storms and it's unclear why. The magic winds are: Kuolias is the wind of abjuration represented by the color blue, Vethreth is the wind of divination represented by the color purple, Quouvir is the wind of enchantment is represented by the color pink, Otirkul is the wind of evocation is represented by the color orange, Haaster is the wind of illusion represented by the color gray, Xandartis is the wind of invocation represented by the color yellow, Zenheros is the wind of necromancy represented by the color green, and Farxis is the wind of transmutation represented by the color indingo.
- Divine Magic : Clerics, Paladins, Demigods, or Oracles derive their spells from the magic bestowed by one or more gods. I haven't changed much to this type of magic which is quite similar to what is already presented in the basic manuals of D&D 5e. The concept is that the deities of Edoryä can grant spells to some of their followers, but these followers must in exchange perform certain rituals and be "Awakened" to the magic of the gods. Any priest cannot cast spells, and some gods only grant a spell under certain conditions or at certain times.
- Primary Magic : Some spellcasters, such as druids, and some magical races and species, such as elves, can cast spells using nature's essence. In reality, every tree leaf, every pebble, every field, every bird, every tree contains magic influenced by Mother Earth and nature spirits. Using primary magic is not given to everyone, for this it is necessary to have a mutual respect with nature and to perform certain rites. Primary magic is generally used to cast healing spells or spells related to the earth or plants. Be careful, however, some forbidden spells feed on primary magic and suck the life force of living beings to feed them but leave only death behind them. This type of magic must be used with caution because it is a question of drawing its powers directly from the energy of the planet, so it should not be abused.
- Pact Magic : Warlocks, Shamans, Blood Mages, and Summoners derive their power from a pact they have made with a creature such as a demon lord, archfairy, ancestor, or spirit called the godfather that provides it with a source. of magic. Pact Magic is similar to Divine Magic but requires an agreement with the godfather in question. Usually the creature asks for something in exchange for its powers or it does it out of gratitude. Some spell casters force their godfather to give them power without their consent, others are their slaves, others still (rarely) have a romantic relationship with him or her. The way to make a pact varies greatly between the godfathers, some spellcasters have found themselves linked to one of them without even realizing it. Be careful however to respect the conditions imposed by his godfather, or you could lose your powers... and your soul.
- Planar Magic : Planeswalkers, Elementalists, and many off-plane creatures and races such as fiends, celestials, faeries, or elementals derive their power directly from their home plane with which they are deeply connected. The nature of the spells granted by Planar Magic varies according to the plane in question, but it requires having an innate link with it. When a creature bound to a plane dies, its soul returns to that plane.
- Psychic Magic : Psions, Mutants, Illusionists and creatures like Aboleths or Mind Flayers have the rare and incredible ability to use the power of their minds to warp reality, influence the minds of others and much more. Anyone with a conscience can theoretically be a Psychic, but it takes a lot of practice and in most cases, psychic spellcasters have an innate gift for manipulating their conscience and that of others. Psychic magic is arguably one of the most dangerous types of magic, the caster is dependent only on themselves to cast spells and can do so very discreetly. Luckily this is the rarest type of magic on this list. Some inexperienced and over-eager young mages have tried to awaken to psychic magic but the price to pay for failing to awaken one's spirit is terrible, incompetent psychics can see their spirits broken and their conscience fade or go out of their minds
I will detail the rest of this campaign setting in other posts, this was just an introduction. I hope this has made you want to know more about Edoryä.

2023.03.25 11:35 wowsuchketo A tentative TCD / TCD-adjacent success story: Weight loss with low PUFA; Metabolic recovery and maintenance with high fat, stearic acid and starch
Moderately active middle-aged F, lost weight from high end of healthy BMI to low end (BMI ~18.6) with low PUFA moderate saturated fat.
So far I’ve maintained the weight loss for 3 months.
The past month has been a high fat diet experiment with more starch and lower protein.
Below I’ve described the weight loss phase, the initial maintenance phase, and then the High Fat Diet.
The most interesting aspect for me is the difference between the recent high fat diet and the earlier phases. The earlier phases were still low pufa/ more saturated fat, and although I lost weight that way it ended up unsustainable longer term.
Reddit is super glitchy for me this week, so I’m posting each phase as a separate comment, linked here:
- Weight loss phase.
- Initial Maintenance Phase(same as weight loss but more calories, higher protein).
- High Fat Diet
- Weight and metabolism indicators in HFD, including temperature
- Other notes on the HFD
- TL;DR
If you see this post when it just posted, it means I haven’t finished editing it. Come back in five minutes once I’ve added the other sections!

2023.03.25 11:31 Peafy_leafy Was prescribed isotretinoin 20mg alternative days for 2 months, is this an off label dose?
Age:22 Weight:70 Height:175
Hi, I was prescribed “title” by a doctor, I could not find any dosage related to the one my doctor prescribed online, most of them were 6 months. My acne went from severe to mild in the last 2 months, ever since my doxycycline course, I have been using adapalene everyday and moisturizing often, so it was prescribed mainly for my extremely oily face. No blood test were done.
My questions: 1) is this dose off label or is it very unusual and might not be effective? 2) according to my dose, can I stay in the sun for about an hour once a week as I have weekly activities that requires me to stay in the sun around 12pm. Assuming I use sunscreen. 3) I’m currently using mometasone furoate for my fingertips as it is peeling, can I continue?

2023.03.25 11:30 MadRageTaco I think I’m finally OK. Final post
I dumped my therapist this week because for the last month or 2 all my sessions were just us BSing about how happy I am. I never thought this was possible. I thought I was permanently broken. I believed that I’d never be happy or feel anything close to normal. I’m happy now. I started my own family and I’m breaking the cycle of abuse.
As great as this is I don’t think I can stay on this sub. Despite my overall happiness some posts here do cause me some distress, but before I leave I wanted to share how I got here in the hopes it will help someone.
To sum up my childhood as briefly as possible my father was the narcissist. He was a bigot. He was physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive. He never expressed love or affection. I spent most of my life while he was alive believing he hated me. I spent most of my childhood thinking he would try to kill me one day. Around the age of 11 I started sleeping with a knife under my pillow. In case he came to kill me in my sleep I’d have a fighting chance. Growing up was lonely and I always had my head on a swivel when I was home because I constantly had to navigate his mood swings to try and survive.
My mother came off as the hood one by comparison. It wasn’t until I read Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents that I learned she was passively abusive. She was my fathers enabler while making me responsible to fulfill her emotion needs while mine were ignored. She taught us how to act in public to hide the abuse we were suffering at home. I told school staff in elementary school and a cop once of my abuse. Despite my state having mandatory reporting laws in place at the time nobody ever checked on my well-being.
Growing up like this left me with heightened survival skills. I grew to hate that because I very much wanted to unalive myself, but due to still being in constant survival mode I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I didn’t like or trust most people. I always had a small circle of very close friends. They became my family. Despite that for some reason I never told them what I went through. I normalized my abuse to the point that I didn’t believe that parents truly loved their kids. I got in a lot of fights as a kid and adult. Luckily I was smart about my self destructive behavior because I don’t have a record. I was really wild throughout my 20’s and early 30’s. I’m seriously shocked that I don’t have a record. Fact is I didn’t think I’d live to 18 so I had existential crises at around 20 and 35 years old. Like wtf was I supposed to do because I hadn’t planned on existing still? I spent most of my adult life as a man whore. Learned it was how I dealt with being stressed or lonely and because of how I grew up I felt lonely and isolated a lot.
How I got better: I’m almost 40 so it was anything but quick. I spent way too long acting self destructive. I was diagnosed with PTSD. I moved 2500 miles away. I got married in my 30’s. We ended up in couples therapy for a bit. Once we got through that I stayed with that therapist to deal with my childhood because my wife had become pregnant. I also read several books that helped. (I’ll post those at the end) I was determined to fix myself for my kid. Thankfully my father died before my kid was born. Part of me thinks that I wouldn’t have been ready to be a parent as long as he was alive. I went no contact with my entire family and removed toxic people from my life. I still talk to 1 aunt but that’s because she is the only emotionally mature person on either side of my family. She’s supportive and I regret waiting till my 30’s to let her into my life. After working my therapist and those books I feel like the last piece was removing the toxic people from my life.
My advice: Narcissism is just one type of emotionally immature adult. We were forced to ignore our own emotional needs and cater to our parents’ emotional needs, which is the opposite of how it’s supposed to work. We were never taught how to emotionally respond properly because our parents were so broken. We had to learn by trial and error and depending on how abusive your situation was the errors could be costly. We did all this to survive.
STOP caring about your family’s feelings, needs, and wants. Did they care about yours when you needed them to most? Did they have your back, or did they leave you in those abusive homes to suffer? YOU DON’T OWE THEM ANYTHING. They are NOT entitled to your time, life, etc. Go no contact. They’ll try to guilt you but don’t fall for it. It’s all BS. They caused your trauma and having your abuser in your life is not helpful in overcoming your trauma. You’ve all been through so much. It’s not selfish after years of abuse to make your mental health and well-being your top priority. You matter and your feelings matter. Your childhoods were taken from you by selfish monsters and you deserve to recover from that and be ok. Also, know that it is possible to be ok.
LEAVE!!! I moved 2500 miles away and refuse to even go back to visit my friends from back in the day. I don’t need the feelings or memories that live there. I didn’t have much when I left. I had a car and I cashed in my 401k from a part time job I had for 2 years. I was homeless on and off for spurts. It was all worth it. You are strong. You can fight and survive.
There’s probably more I could share but this is kind of a short novel at this point. *If you want to know anything leave a comment and I’ll respond. *

2023.03.25 11:29 1stStrikeRecon Earth Druid Feedback
While I stand behind the idea that it's exceptionally foolish to talk authoritatively about balance yet considering we're only experiencing up to level 25 and not seeing pretty much anything resembling the end-game, I think it's fair to say that Earth magic Druid has some foundational issues that I'm not sure end-game would be able to provide solutions for - my feedback to improve it:
Earth Spike - Thoughts: It feels very anemic in general. Low damage wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't paired with the low spirit gain on use and the low RNG of the 10% to stun. When it does stun it actually feels decent, and it's clear that the other Earth spells are built on the idea that you're getting stuns, immobilizes, and/or knockdowns relatively often. Unfortunately, unless you spam attack speed you're not getting those stuns all that often, which makes the whole skill just feel bad and its upgrades even worse.
- Suggestion(s):
- Change the 10% chance to stun to a stun every 3-5 casts. Can reduce the stun length to make up for it, perhaps to 1.5, but something more consistent and reliable would go a long way to making the skill feel and work better. Alternatively, move the stun % chance to the skill itself and let investing skill points there increase the % chance to stun (up to 20% or 25% maybe? 30%? Testing would determine a good, tuned number). A more consistent stun can also excuse the anemic damage and low spirit gain, particularly with the bonuses it provides other Earth spells (such as Terramotes with Landslide) and the fact a more consistent stun lets you enjoy its upgrade perks more often. Having built an attack speed setup I found Earth Spike was fairly decent when it was able to proc the stun and get the double-spikes or let you stack fortify, almost making up for its deficiencies. However, it meant having to focus on attack speed just to get it to an "okay" state, and that's something seemingly most other skills don't have to worry about just to be useful and possibly worth taking.
Landslide - Thoughts: This spell is a Earth magic Druid's primary damage dealer, and generally is okay. Particularly if and when you can get stuns for one of its two upgrade perks it can feel like a decent choice. The biggest problems are: 1. The delay in its cast effect working, which means you can miss (particularly if you cast it on something rushing at you fast enough); 2. Being reliant on stuns largely from Earth Spike or Immobilize from its own "cast this 4 times to get an effect" means you struggle to justify spending the skill points on it.
- Suggestion(s):
- Really minor, particularly if the above Earth Spike suggestion is implemented. Mostly, change the delay or tracking so that it is harder to miss. With those two solutions implemented, it's more consistent and reliable to get stuns to proc either of Landslide's upgrade perks, making the skill feel better to take and use. It already does good damage.
Earthen Bulwark - Thoughts: Obviously an Earth magic Druid's main protective spell. Unfortunately, it also kind of becomes their main AOE if you take the AOE explosion perk or a mediocre source of Fortify if you take the other one. The barrier isn't terrible, but compared to other classes' options for defensive skill barriers or other options in the Druid tree it isn't great either.
- Suggestion(s):
- Add a passive to the skill with some rocks orbiting the Druid, providing damage reduction and possibly damaging enemies or providing a small % chance to stun enemies that come into contact with it. Kind of copying the other nature magic defensive, Cyclone Armor, obviously. But would help make it more unique and a potentially appealing alternative to the other Druid defensive skills. I like this suggestion the most, and feel like it'd give great flavor and contrast to Cyclone Armor. It also lets the upgrade perks stay as they are, effectively, and tweak the "active" use of the skill between being an explosive AOE or it "layering" onto your character to give them more protection (Fortify).
- Or: Decrease cooldown, or add something to the base skill that provides an opportunity to decrease the cooldown (e.g., every stun or immobilize reduces the cooldown by 1s). This also boosts either of the upgrade perks, allowing a Druid to use Earthen Bulwark's AOE more often or boost more fortify.
- Or: Increase the barrier strength, and/or add a way to increase the barrier strength and duration, using other Druid and/or Earth magic skills. Stealing the other perk that Ice Armor provides obviously, but this might help Earthen Bulwark be a bit more worth taking.
Boulder - Thoughts: Boulder is okay. It's hilarious to roll it into enemies and see them caught up and carried along it. Being stuck as a line and being an Earth magic Druid's only other AOE feels bad, though, considering how narrow the effect is and that it just rolls right through enemies that it can't "grab" and carry along.
- Suggestion(s):
- Increase the width of the boulder and its effect. That's the primary fix that would make this feel skill good. Another 20-30% at least.
- Let it shatter to do more damage against enemies it can't bowl over and carry with it - such as bosses. At the moment it just rolls through them, and you lose the benefit of any of the other effects.
Petrify - Thoughts: It's an Ultimate, and with an effect only lasting 3-4 seconds it's not worth the 60s cooldown. However, that's a problem with seemingly all Ultimates. I agree with people who are calling for a separate additional skill slot specifically for an Ultimate skill, and feel like only then would it be worthwhile to evaluate Petrify better. That's basically the same problem every Ultimate suffers from - why take one when you can take a normal skill that doesn't have ~60s worth of cooldown on it?
My 2 cents, anyway, trying to resolve what I think are the foundational issues for Druid's Earth Magic skills. Would be particularly interested in Closed Beta testers' input on what Druid is like in the end-game.

2023.03.25 11:27 indiaspine What is the function of the spine in the human body, and why is spine surgery necessary?
| https://preview.redd.it/g8ue8zh24vpa1.png?width=1366&format=png&auto=webp&s=41b7c15d052e3553475c443625bf347d25d62389 The spine of the human body is the main supporting structure of the back and consists of 33 bones that function as building blocks in the human body. The primary function of the spinal cord is to transmit nerves from the brain to the rest of the body, and it also performs many other vital functions. Spine surgeons perform spine surgery in Mumbai to protect the body from spinal cord injury. It also serves to maintain posture, support the body, and help the patient bend, twist and perform other body movements. Trained and qualified professionals perform spine surgery in Mumbai to treat spine problems and serve a better quality of life. Spine surgery in Mumbai has also proved beneficial for people who have traveled across India, Mumbai, for spine treatment by the best and most experienced spine surgeons at a very reasonable cost. The cost of spine surgery in Mumbai ranges from INR 3,50,000 to INR 9,00,000 depending on the patient's spine condition, age, and the procedure chosen to treat the spine problem. If people compare the cost of spine surgery in other developing countries like the USA, UK, Australia, Russia, etc., it is costly, and ordinary people cannot afford it. People from western countries prefer Mumbai for spine surgery because of the inexpensive procedures with the highest success rate. Other factors like qualification, experience, personal and medical care, 24*7 support, etc., attract foreigners to Mumbai for spine treatment. What is the best spine surgery in Mumbai? Various spine procedures can best treat a patient's neck and back pain. These are: 1. Laminectomy: This is the most common and the best spine surgery in Mumbai to treat spinal conditions that occur due to spondylolisthesis and stenosis. In this procedure, the surgeon removes parts of the patient's spine to relieve the spinal nerves. The surgery involves removing parts of the spine that relieve pressure on the spinal nerves. A surgeon usually performs a laminectomy in combination with spinal fusion surgery when spinal instability is suspected. 2. Foraminotomy: This is a spinal surgery where the surgeon removes tissues compressing the patient's back nerves. During a foraminotomy treatment, the surgeon removes the bony parts compressing the spine's nerves. The study says that the spine's stability is sometimes affected; in such cases, the surgeon performs spinal fusion to stabilize the spine. 3. Spinal fusion: This is a procedure where a surgeon fuses two vertebrae together to increase the spine's stability. During this surgery, the movements of the patient's spine and the stretching of the nerves are limited. 4. Discectomy: This is a surgical procedure used to treat the condition of a herniated disc in the vertebrae. A herniated disc separates two vertebrae, and if it protrudes inward, it presses on the spinal nerves, causing the patient to experience pain. This is a procedure where the surgeon removes all or part of the disc. 5. Interlaminar Implant: This is a spinal surgery in which the surgeon implants a U-shaped device between two vertebrae in the patient's lower back. Implantation of a U-shaped device will help keep the space open and relieve pressure on the spinal nerves. The surgeon performs the interlaminar implant at the same time as the laminectomy. The implant provides stability and allows the patient to move their back almost as usual. What is the spine surgery success rate in Mumbai? The spine surgery success rate in Mumbai depends on the procedure people choose to treat their spine injury; however, the success rate of spine surgery in Mumbai at Spine Surgery Hospital in India ranges from 65 to 95%, which is relatively high compared to other developing countries. This is why people travel more often to Mumbai for the high success rate and fastest recovery from spinal injuries. submitted by indiaspine to spinesurgeries [link] [comments] |
