I’m not sure where to start here cuz I know the current issue is a straw that broke the camel situation.
Basically I (27F) have an amazing sister (25F) who I love very much and admire as much as I envy her. I in no way want to demonize her here. She is highly intelligent and driven and is perusing a career that takes a lot of her time and focus and will require her to demonstrate complex knowledge and high levels of patience and empathy. I know she can and will do great things. She’s found a wonderful man and I can tell you that relationship is all but confirmed to be marriage endgame. My sister is amazing and I’m so proud of her and I want nothing but the best for her.
However, I don’t think she actually likes me? I know she loves me like you love any immediate family but I don’t think she actually enjoys my presence? I have noticed that most any effort to spend time together, be it specific or broad (think wanna see a movie Saturday or wanna make dinner together this week?) is met with non committal responses or flat out rejections (‘boyfriends coming over for an hour tonight so I can’t’ ‘sorry this week is a study week’ ‘sorry already made planes with a friend!’) it almost feels like she has a grab bag of other plans and I’m just never a thought on her end. Our interest intersect at a very niche topic but even then it feels like I carry any conversation when we do get talking.
The current issue stems from two particular past issues. 1) I always offer her food when I make it. I don’t like going to grab fast food or cook for just myself so I always make a point to ask anyone home if they want me to make enough for them. I see the act of providing food for others as a love language. So it hurts when other people in the house make food and don’t ask me if I want any. 2) when growing up my sister was the top student. Straight A’s, lots of friends, cheer captain, the works. She developed an anxiety disorder around this time and would often snap at me. Our mom would step in but tell me privately it was because she ‘felt safe around me’ however 10 years later and I still hear her voice echoing the words ‘you are so fucking stupid, I hate you.’ In my head. I know on some level she didn’t mean it. We had a confrontation about it before and she said she doesn’t even remember saying it, but she still apologized. I still gave her an ultimatum that day we talked. She was never allowed to treat me like a verbal punching bag again or I was done with her. It’s been years now so I’m very sure she forgot that. And clearly she’s stressed out again with the new job training she’s going through.
Today she came out of her room after taking a test and I’d finished cleaning the house, I told her I’d waited on her to have lunch and ask what she wanted. She said she’d just have one of the ready meals we had in the fridge. After a few minutes of shaking off my disappointment and searching for something for myself I decided to have a ready meal too. (Here I’ll say she did ask for there specifically but she had eaten ones I’d asked for a few weeks before so I figured one box would be fine) my sister snapped at me for eating her food. I explained I’d only wanted to try one since I hadn’t gotten a chance before and then exactly the same way she cursed me before all those years ago she mutters ‘you’re so annoying’ A monumental step down compared to ‘you’re so fucking stupid, I hate you.’ But the way she said it has it ringing in my head all over again. I tossed the frozen meal back into the fridge and neither of us have tried to even be in the same room since. I feel like if I brush this off I do myself a disservice, but at the same time it feels like it’s too stupid an incident to throw a fit over. She probably won’t even remember this next week and I’ll still have her words echoing in my head making me feel like I’m worthless and a burden on my family.
I just really need some advice: Should I remind her of the ultimatum I gave her and demand an apology? Should I do us both a favor and just not try to reach out again? Should I such it up and just move on?

I've been living with my grandma since 2018, except for a year where I tried living with my ex and it all went down in flames.
It seems that her aspiration in life is only to COMPLAIN. Nothing is ever good, nothing is ever enough.
She hates how her boyfriend treats her, how he only comes over to wash his clothes and how he always avoids responsibilities with the dogs they share, how he wants sex and a maid and she doesn't want that, but does she break up with him? No!
She hates how the dogs fill the yard with poop and pee, how they bark loudly at flies, cats on the roof, birds, sneezes, nails getting clipped, blenders, and even the little cleaning robot. Does she train them, or pay someone to walk them, or even re-home them with my parents? Absolutely not!
She's been freaking out over her job, that she only took because she wants to avoid a bad credit score over my parents not paying the loan or the credit cards she lent them, but does she stop and reconsider things, maybe check how she spends her money? No, she says I should have dinner ready by six when I work from home. Because I am obviously not working, not like she does.
I'm at the end of my patience with her. I told her I'd live two years with her, so she could help my parents, but instead I'm seriously considering bailing out and letting her figure herself out because she's so insufferable. She complains about my clothes, my room, how we throw the trash out too late for her (trash collection is at 22, we throw it out by 18), how we eat too much meat and too little rice, everything! It's pissing me off!!
She even complains that I buy slightly better cuts of meat and chicken, because god forbid I eat something nice after busting my back at a stressful job. I buy every single brand she likes for groceries, I pay every single bill, I fill the tank of a car I barely use, I buy appliances she wants, she is spoiled with everything I get for her but still complains I don't care about her when my boyfriend buys me some cheap sushi to cheer me up.
I can't even make a weekly schedule of dinners, or say "hey let's maybe start washing our towels every two weeks" because she'll freak out over how I'm taking over the house. I should do things always her way, because she's older and wiser (sike).
I'm tired. She wants to talk tomorrow because "she's uncomfortable in her own house", and I'm considering telling her that we do everything her way, her style, and she's never happy, so we'll bail out and she can figure it out herself. I finally understand why NO ONE in our massive family does anything for her, and it's because she's a penny pinching, egoistical hypocrite who's lucky to be the youngest and have inherited the house from her parents.

2023.06.06 04:27 Surgerber Battling self harm
My medication has been delayed 7 days. I’m finally going to pick it up today but I’ve been off of it for a week. I’ve been depressed and manic at the same time and I just can’t take it. I’ve been battling thoughts of self harm well before my medication has been delayed, but now that I’ve been off of it it’s gotten so much worse. I don’t know what to do or how to stop these thoughts of wanting to die and wanting to hurt myself. I haven’t done any harm to myself other than rotting in bed. What do I do?

I've been a server at a restaurant since October 2021 and I found out some of the servers who started after me got a pay bump to $10/hr while I was at $2.13/hr. (Not sure when exactly but a server who started in October 2022 began with $9/hr) The General Manager bumped me up to $10/hr last month, said everyone was making 7.25/hr so he was doing me a solid with $10/hr.
But this week, a new girl that started in March 2023 got health insurance and when I inquired to the GM about why I didn't have it he said I needed full availability and to work at least 5 days. The issue with this is my availability is already 5 of the available 6 days we're open. On top of this, during the slow season my shifts were cut down to 3 days a week against my choice and last year when it got back into the busy season new servers were hired, multiple servers lost shifts and we began fighting for shifts. When I started I was told by the owner I'd get PTO and health insurance after 6 months (this never happened). After that I found out the same girl started at $9/hr I was furious and had a chat with operations manager and he said he'd give me both PTO and Health insurance in addition to apologizing for how the business had treated me as a server. There is also the case of how our tip pools works. There were several times servers who worked the same hours as me and had more on their paychecks. I brought it up to the GM, who said it was a glitch in the system/the numbers didn't carry over from the system->excel-> payroll and he paid the difference every time I caught it but I'm not sure how many times they paid me incorrectly.
My question is there a case for me to receive backpay starting from when the wage increases started to April 2023 when I got my raise, back pay on the health insurance/PTO I'm owed, and an audit to see if there were anymore paychecks I was not paid my fair share on? I know for a fact it wasn't based on performance as when it came to sections, I was given the highest volume sections every night and generally averaged the most in tips/tip %.

Time is among the only things in life you can’t get back. You can certainly spend your entire money in one day, then the next day, earn all of it back but it’s not time. There’s no way to get back any time you have lost. I’m sure that people have advised that you should spend your time wisely.
What exactly that means is entirely up to the person. What are your objectives in your life? Do you wish to live a rich retirement and enjoy in luxury, or would you prefer an enjoyable time with friends traveling the world and visiting new destinations?
Do not let time slide through your fingers! To achieve any goal, it’s essential that we are doing the proper things. We all probably know this, but we aren’t making the time that is available. We struggle often with what’s most important in our lives, what priorities we should set, and how to stay in the present work at hand when distractions come up that they occur.
We must learn how to use our time efficiently. It is essential to create a plan. If you don’t plan, it is still a plan, the only problem is you have not achieved anything, yet it consumed your time. Making goals and creating an action plan to meet these goals helps us focus our time more efficiently and ensures that the time is spent on something important.
Every person’s definition of meaningful differs. However, we can all tell whether we’re using our time with purpose and when we’re “wasting the time”. You must strike the right balance between working efficiently and taking time to relax. Every aspect of life is about balance, everything is in moderation. Finding your balance is the hardest part.

Are you spending your time productively? The time we have is our most valuable asset. It is important to utilize it in a wise way! Each minute is less than the time you can use, this is a fact of life. The earlier you begin making plans for the future, the quicker you will be able to begin making time allocations in accordance with your needs. I am 17 and currently work at a bakery and have a pretty close relationship with my boss because I am one of her two employees. It is an up and coming bakery, so it doesn’t have a store front or sales right now, it’s just being developed. I help her make recipes that she comes up with and get paid $12/hr for this. It is a great job and I plan to be loyal for the remaining year of high school, but I haven’t really been making a lot of money. I have to pay for my car insurance, rent, gas, and other bills so it’s a lot as a teenager and I only make about $300 a month. I have been secretly looking for second job because money has been so tight. Now that it’s summer I have so much more time. I found a position at Sonic and before you attack me, there isn’t many options that are close to me and I don’t want to waste gas. I was hired and I told my other coworker and she told me that it was wrong to take a job and not tell my boss. I told her this wasn’t because of the job I have, and I love the position, my budget is just very tight right now. I don’t want to betray my boss or anything, I just need to use my time to invest in my future and working is the best way to go. Do I have to tell her? Would I be a jerk if I kept this one a secret? I don’t want her to know that I need more money because I like to keep that part of my life private and although she’s great, she’s very big on status.

Been using creative katana v1 soundbar for couple of years and it has a weird problem with connecting to usb 3.0 ports where it has trouble getting detected by my pc while not having problems connecting to usb 2.0 ports. But now i have switch to asus prime b550m-A and given my old mb to my lil bro and it has no usb 2 ports so it doesn't get detected by the pc at all.I did try using a hub but device manager show a device saying something about enumeration. Whats even weirder is that its fine with my laptop usb 3.0 port. How do i fix this?

I have seen a few videos and articles here and there talking about how they just mow down their perennials in the fall and then mulch over the area.
This sounds SO much easier than trying to clean up all the dead stuff from them in the spring once the snow melts. We use leaves to mulch over garlic etc and when it is warm enough we use the leaf blowevac to vacuum them up out of the beds.
I have hip issues so can’t crawl/squat on the ground for long so this process for the huge perennial flower patch sounds appealing.
Is there any reason we couldn’t do this? Just set the mower to be really tall so I don’t accidentally mow up the base of them, and then mulch over the whole area to provide protection over winter?
I super appreciate any input! This is only the second year in this house and we love the huge patch of perennials but it is tough to manage with some mobility issues.

So I am mostly satisfied with my job…. It pays ok, gives me excellent life/work balance (key right now since I have 2 little kids), wfh 3 x per week, autonomy, and my boss and coworkers are good. The only thing is it’s contract (not permanent) and I’d like more pay. I’ve asked for more pay and for the job to be permanent but they never make it happen. How do you decide when it’s time to look elsewhere?

Ok Reddit, I took your tips from the last time I posted and it helped with the whole 3am wake where she just won’t go back to sleep lol but I’m still struggling with multiple wakes at night and I’m just so tired 🫠
A bit of backstory:
She was never properly sleep trained but learned how to fall asleep independently at 2 months and at the time was only waking up once for a feed, but ever since she turned 4 months and had her 4 month sleep regression (we also went on a trip so that messed up her sleep too), she’s reverted back to waking up multiple times at night. She’s usually quick to fall back asleep if I feed her but I don’t think she’s actually hungry for all the wakeups? She’s also incredible clingy to me right now and is going through a lot of separation anxiety so it’s making falling asleep more difficult too I think. She can still fall asleep initially by herself (ish - I do small check-ins every ten minutes of crying and she usually settles after the first two check-ins) but it takes longer and she’s wailing instead of whining like before.
Would love some suggestions on what to do!
Current schedule: - Roughly 9am-9pm schedule (we are not interested in moving to a 7-7 schedule as that just doesn’t work for our lifestyle) - 2/2.5/2.5/3 - Her naps usually total about 3 hrs - EBF
