Since 2015, we are getting games with the theme of illegal street racing, police chases and in depth customization. All of this is good but, the results aren't satisfying. The games are at best, average (taking into account the overall feedback as well as personal experiences).
What if they try the concept of Prostreet? Now that they don't need to focus on open world and cop chases, they can focus on things that make such games replayable. This includes things like driving physics, variety of events (drag racing, drift events, time trials), sense of speed and diversity of locations.
It's not like NFS is the only racing game that offers an open world. You have got the Forza Horizon series, TDU Solar Crown is on the way and so is The Crew Motorfest. They are going to have a bigger open world than NFS. Plus, these games also have cockpit views. The Crew series offers good customization as well.
Where NFS really differs is the intense police pursuits. HP2, MW and even Undercover provide some challenging experiences in this department. However, this can get old and repititive if it's included in the next 2-3 installments.
Since the NFSU, we were offered new and unique experiences in the installments that followed.
U2 gave us free roam, MW brought out a whole new pursuit system, Carbon introduced crews and canyons, Prostreet with a unique experience of festivals, The Shift series with its closed track racing, HP2010 with a blast from the past, The Run which is a movie experience, MW2012 with its unique art direction, sound, arcade style of racing and strange cutscenes, Rivals with the online capibilities and weapons etc.
They have provided us with unique experiences. Of course, they weren't games that scored 10/10, but they showed us what was possible with racing games.
Is the fanbase ready for such a NFS game with a different theme right now?
What would you like to see in a game like Prostreet 2 or The Run 2?
What if they try a Cyberpunk themed street racing game? With retro cars as well futuristic ones.

Taking into account recent events regarding the whole $200m DOE announcement, I wanted to ask the community of investors and get a gauge on general sentiments on how they feel the company will do on a long term 5-10y horizon.
Essentially I ask for your thesis's, reasonings, essays and general sentiment of how you think things will play.
I'm concerned about the thin margins, need for capital to find operations and open more factories.

I don't know if this will be seen as a hot take, but since a major focus of this sub is VR gaming it might be. But here me out:

Why the Apple Vision Pro is the best thing that happened to VR in a long time.

One of the main reasons why smartphones were so easily adopted, was backwards compatibility. I could buy a smartphone and still text & call with my friends & fam who didn't have one. There was no need to "convince everyone of a smartphone all at once".
Early adopters could buy-in, while people with a tougher budget or no tech-interest could wait, and organically experience moments were non-smartphoners would get honest, organic feedback or "try-outs" from their friends who got one.
There was NO chicken & egg problem.
VR currently HAS a chicken & egg problem. If you play VR, chances are pretty high that you can neither play nor effectively communicate with your friends that don't own VR.
There are very few cross-play games between "realities" & Meta has forced users into their "walled gardens" from the start, making their clunky oculus-friends-thing the mandatory way of talking & playing together in VR, without the ability to ie. join Discord in the background.
Means a user has to decide between "interacting with VR" or "interacting with their friends". In my group of friends, I have 4 IRL friends with VR – The amount of times we played together last year: 5. As soon as 1 person can't for any reason (didn't charge, too tired, not enough space right now), it all dies, because nobody "wants to leave the other people out".
Apple skips this by marketing AVP not as a "product to do new things" but as a "product to do old things in a new way".
Yes that sounds boring.
XR can do way more than "be a window manager". But the smartphone didn't start, trying to convince you to do your online banking on it.
It allows the early adopters to actually have the ability to keep using it, even if not all of their friends & fam join in. Compared to what happens to quite a percentage of Quest 2s after their owner decides that it's just more fun to play Fortnite with the boys, than POP1 alone.
People buying early into the AVP can still use all their familiar ways of interacting with them like iMessage, Facetime, iOS apps, in the smooth Apple way they're used to. Yes they might now immediately experience the most ground breaking VR experiences, but that will follow.
This also gives time to create those organic moments where early adopters share their personal, personally trusted opinions of it. (You could even argue the "luxurious price" plays into that since now everyone who doesn't buy one, kind of "wants to know if it was worth it")
Meta's marketing narrative is:

"Hey, we have this cool new thing , that can do things you didn't knew you want before and you need to experience them to get it. Please trust our word that it's cool & join us by buying our thing."

While Apple's marketing narrative is:

"Hey, we made this cool new thing here, that does all the things you already like, in an even better way."

They don't even need the "trust us" part, bc everyone will just have a had a demo experience either in store or with a friend.
And yes this all assumes the headset isn't shit. Which – let's be honest, even as an Apple hater, one gotta admit they nail presentation, "first feel" and feeling smooth. A demo will always catch you, especially if it's paired with VR. Just remember back to YOUR first VR demo.
It's such a significantly easier sell in terms of "barrier of acceptance"

if you have BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY.

If it doesn't mean you need to leave all your friends & known activities behind, when you decide to use it.
The "cool new things" XR can actually do, will then organically arise. Either through AppStore apps or through updates.
Just imagine:
Once you have a first user base of ppl actually using the HMD, you release "Spacial Facetime" on visionOS 2, that is basically Horizon Workrooms Lite & allows AVR users to have "virtual facetime hangouts" with their avatars (that are already a lot better received than Meta's).
And suddenly "those virtual visionOS hangouts" are the thing everybody else "is missing out" instead of "the thing Meta tries to convince everyone to please use". If you like it or not, the Apple brand (& status among the young generation) has the pull to do that.
You release "immersive extended movies", which feature movie-tailered 3D environments, that react to the movie you watch. The space ship that flies over the screen, now perfectly synced flies around you & "into and out of" your screen. Bam, you already got al AVP users into "mini VR environments", without them knowingly doing so.
From there it's a slippery slope into a "VR experience" and a "VR game".
You can even see this approach by the fact that they never really called this device a "VR headset" or mentioned VR in general. They are not trying to "convince people of VR", they are trying to lure them into it, without them knowing it. They don't want to be "another company making VR headsets".
So while this HMD might not be for "us", it's probably the one that will benefit us the most out of all recent releases.

Does anyone else have the issue on Forza Horizon 5 when you are doing seasonal championship challenges (three races) it kicks me automatically after the first race but if I’m in a convoy they get to keep playing even if I’m the party leader. Had anyone experienced this/have a solution??

5 months and 1 day since the first day. For two solid months, the pain was unbearable, like rusted gears grinding in my chest. It would literally stop me in my tracks, and sometimes my knees would give out. Then suddenly, something changed... I discovered that my horizon had opened up. That for myself and for my children, our future was what we decided to make of it, that while we mourned the loss of what we thought was to be our future, we didn't have to let that define us.
Onward I went, with almost a spring in my step, free from lies and treachery, I felt empowered, confident that I had this now under control. The people around me, my children included, were baffled at I almost seemed... happy?
For many weeks, it seemed too easy. How could l have moved on so quickly? It was like the pain was gone but, it was still there but I only felt it if I allowed myself to go there. It definitely seemed too easy and I worried that something was still out there (in there?) lurking, waiting for the right time to strike.
Little signs at first... I'd be walking around my house alone, while my children are staying at STBXW's apartment, and I began to say things out loud again to myself... "Fucking stupid!" "Pfft, fucking moron..."
Whoa... where did those come from? Weird...
Another week goes by, and I'm sitting on the floor, talking with my dog, and it's like he looked right into me, and his eyes told me he was sad too, like we had both been discarded, and as if to say, "where is everybody?"
BAM... total water works... I suddenly found myself laying on the floor, sobbing and gasping for air for the first time in months.
What the fuck? I thought I was done with that part? No part of me wants her back, and there isn't anything that could change that.

I'm selling my set of OG Utopia. They are in good used condition. They have a couple of small scratches/marks on the cups and collars on the headband and there is a little wear on the top of the headband. I have taken pictures of the specific areas that I have found marks so please look carefully at them. I apologize for the few bits of dust showing. I keep them very clean but the piano black finish makes dust specs pop out in pics like crazy. The scratch on the one cup and the marks on the other are much less apparent in person than they are in the photos. They come with the stock XLR cable and a spare set of suede pads (not sure of the brand). The box is in decent shape but does have some scrapes as seen in the pics. I also have the original outer box. I don't know how many hours are on them but they function and sound perfect. I love them but I need to pair down my collection a bit. I wish I could keep everything but it's not realistic to do so.

Hi, I would like to get a Steam Deck but I was wondering what about compatible games bought outside of steam (e.g. Forza Horizon 5 bought on Microsoft store or Cyberpunk bought on GOG)? Do I need to buy them again on Steam (and would the save games be the same)? Do I need to install Windows on the Deck to get Microsoft store and GOG working there? Or can I just add the games on Steam? Thanks!

Okay so, ive got about 15k INR to spend on a gpu. I see a couple of options in the RX 580, GTX 1650 and 1050TI

- Ryzen 5 2400G (yes it's old but i dont have the cash to upgrade)

Me: $275K in retirement (Roth IRA+2 401Ks investing in 3 fund portfolio: FXAIX, VFTAX, VITAX 55,25,20 split). Would you change the allocation/funds?
$65k in vested stock options from current employer
$170k equity in my apartment with ~340k left in principal.
I’m also doing the mega back door ROTH as my wife does not have a retirement plan (currently) at her work; so do figured the next best option is maximizing my after tax income in lieu of her lack of retirement. She runs a early childhood school…may be eligible for 403b but is discussing with the DOE for an answer.
Should I put more funds into a taxable brokerage or the mega back door is sufficient.
Wife: $20k in ROTH IRA (she had no retirement funds so I’ve been maximizing the back door roth for her in past few years.
$150k between checking and saving. Hesitant to be aggressive here ie invest in market as there’s a potential large home purchase in horizon.
Joint: $225k split between 5% no penalty 11 month CDs and HYSA (potential down payment funds)
Any advice or thoughts with this allocation?
