2023.03.22 07:49 Defazz College House Party Audio System (Club at Home)

Me and a group of friends recently got a house together for our last 2 years of college. This house has a fairly large living room so we decided that we want a loud audio system for the space (to host parties/ have club at home). We have another group of friends that have set up similar to what I'm looking for, it consists of 1 Yamaha r-n303 Bluetooth amp, and 2 150W Paradigm 9se speakers. Since our space is a little bigger than theirs and we're looking to host parties, I want my speakers to be a bit louder (200w maybe, idk if this means it'll be louder). Similar to my friends, I want to look for second hand speakers, stuff from Facebook marketplace and Kijiji (brand new stuff looks very expensive, my budget is only a couple hundred). So my question are:
  1. What specs should I be looking for when buying these speakers? (I don't need super high audio quality, just a speaker that can output a lot of base, Mostly Heavy EDM and Hip-pop music)
  2. Do I need a subwoofer? what kind of speaker needs to be paired with a subwoofer?
  3. when buying second hand what are tests I can do to see if the speaker is in good shape?
  4. Should I look to buy speakers then an amp or the other way around?
  5. What are some general rules I should follow when buying an amp?
  6. Is there anything I should be wary of for this project?
In the end, we just want some speakers that'll make the floor rumble to Spotify from our phones, nothing too fancy, just obnoxiously loud with deep base potential. Bonus if we can connect to it by Bluetooth. I love loud music, I hate when speakers aren't loud enough for the setting, and I hate it even more when speakers lower their own volume to support a songs base. I'm open to any videos/ guides. Any help is appreciated.
TL;DR: College students want loud audio system with good base for parties, help me make the best purchase.

2023.03.22 07:44 WhatShouldTheHeartDo Anyway to find out the values on sets in general?

Decided to sell off my childhood since times are tough, got a shit ton of bionicles from the golden years 2001-2008 (controversial I know) I plan to just sell them off on facebook marketplace not for their full value but my pricing should reflect which waves are coveted or not, like i don't imagine the Vahki and the Toa Phantoka are worth the same in value.

2023.03.22 05:40 AnonymooseE1 E24 630CSi vs 635CSi

I've found a 1977 630csi for sale on Facebook marketplace for a very cheap price it seams to be in good condition but I'd be restoring it completely anyways. However when I try to do research on the car and the possibility of finding ding parts for it I only find results for the more popular e24 635csi. What I'm wondering is are the two cars similar enough that the parts are compatible as far as suspension and body work goes? I would engine and transmission swap so those are not parts I'd be looking for

2023.03.22 05:13 island_niles trinitron stand commiseration

So I just picked up a kv-36hs510 Trinitron hd crt. It's not sfp but man does 480p look good on this thing. It's in great condition, matches with the furniture in the retro game area ive been putting together, and I love it. I even found some old trinitron era surround sound stuff that matches too. Now if I could only find a stand for it it'd be aesthetically glorious. I've scoured the internet. Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, offerup, eBay but can't find anything. After reading some manuals it seems there are two potential stands that are known to fit, the SU-36HS1 and the SU-36F2. I'm just posting wondering if anyone has any ideas I haven't already tried or has a lead on one in their area or better yet if one of you guys has one for sale. Any info would be greatly appreciate. I'm in michigan btw. Thanks y'all.

I am an adult skater taking beginner lessons. I really enjoy my classes and want to continue. We are working on crossovers in my class and one foot glides.
I found a used pair of skates for $100 (Risport Antares) on Facebook marketplace that are in almost new condition. They are a little snug and I’m not sure to buy them or just wait and buy my own with a fitter. Advice appreciated!

Bringing the core message front and centre once again. GameStop is the opportunity of a lifetime ... a great long term investment and a tremendous squeeze opportunity.

And how GameStop has been manipulated with short postions hidden through derivatives: https://www.reddit.com/Superstonk/comments/too38h/wondering_what_all_the_hype_is_about_gamestop/

DD here on Superstonk supports the evolution of the married puts derivative manipulation through total return swaps, with Credit Suisse evidenced as being a counter party and bag holder of many GME shares.

Now UBS is in the process of taking over Credit Suisse and needs a guarantee from the government to protect them from Billions in potential losses as they de-risk due to "We have taken a significant first loss position ... in level 3 assets, long dated swaps ..." "It is an insurance policy we've got until we can work this portfolio down...":

Short sellers continue to dig themselves deeper as they short GameStop even though the company is the largest video game retailer worldwide and GameStop is successfully undergoing a radical strategic transformation; expanding their business model to compete and thrive in an era of mobile gaming and digital downloads, and have been busy reinventing themselves as a major ecommerce player.

Gamestop has a revolutionary, dedicated diehard shareholder base that is Direct Registering Shares (DRS) and exposing the manipulation of market makers and short hedge funds to the broader retail market. Current Short Interest and FTDs is over 21% (as publicly reported, excluding the hidden derivative based manipulation of additional SI & FTDs) , and the tradeable float is shrinking daily pushing borrowing costs higher and making it more expensive by the day for market participants to maintain their short positions.
Direct Registration System (DRS) explained in 80 seconds: https://youtu.be/gNTClU6lLqY

The global gaming market is forecast to be worth $256.97 billion by 2025. And while it generally takes time and money in the midst of a revolutionary "transformation to a company that is driven at its core by technology" - GameStop is PROFITABILE!

TLDR; As GameStop moves forward with its ecommerce and NFT marketplace the potential for this company rivals market giants like Amazon, Apple, and Meta (Facebook, Instagram etc). GameStop is not an ordinary stock, nor is it a failing brick-and-mortar retail chain like Wall Street previously thought. It is a very well financed, established growth company, with grand plans in the foreseeable future.
The current price of $GME is demonstrably manipulated and significantly undervalued. Simply put - the price of $GME is wrong - and will continue to be wrong until the manipulation of the stock is eradicated and the short positions are closed - not just covered. As short positions are forced to buy and close out their positions at the market 'ask' price, and in the event that retail owns the float and investors hold out on the sale of their shares we could have not just a ‘Short Squeeze' - but the 'Mother of all Short Squeezes' (MOASS).

2023.03.22 02:36 TobaccoIsGood4U AITA For trying to get my parents to buy me a different type of furniture than they initially promised?

Ok so after moving back to my hometown for a job transfer, then living with my parents for a few months, I was able to find an apartment. I'm excited, as are my parents. They were feeling generous, and said they want to see me get a new couch and that they would contribute $700 towards it. I am very grateful for this offer.
My mom and I went to the main big box furniture retailer in town last weekend, and I really didn't see much that I liked. I thought most of the couches were overpriced. And the ones that weren't, were often uncomfortable.
ANYWAY, after talking with my dad about this he said I should look on facebook marketplace. So I did just that, and found that the used furniture is much cheaper and there were more options in the style I was looking for and at a better price. In fact, I found a really nice vintage couch for $150, the seller said they'd let it go for $120, I could probably get it for 100 if I was a dick about it. Anyway, I showed this to my parents and they were off-put. There are a couple small tears in the couch, but it's an old couch, and they aren't major. I'm moving into an apartment.
In addition to all of this, I am working from home now. And I decided to buy a high end office chair. The office chair I bought normally retails for over $1000, but I found a site that refurbishes them (adds new seat padding, changes out bearings/casters, steam cleans etc) and I was able to buy one for just under $500, and it comes with a 12 year warranty. Even though I got it online and didn't sit in it, I bought the chair because people with tailbone issues like I have say it has been the best chair for them.
Anyway, so I was talking with my parents and explained that if they're putting up $700 for my furniture, which I am very grateful for, I'd rather most of it for the chair that I'll be sitting on all the time, and I'd rather buy the cheap couch off fb marketplace.
I don't know why, maybe it's a boomer thing, but my parents just really really want me to get a "nice couch". I also tried explaining to my parents that I don't like to have a ton of furniture. I'm moving into this mid-tier apartment, and if I am making significantly more money this time next year (unlikely imo) I'd move to a bigger apartment, and I hate having to lug around furniture. And I also said since I work for a tech company, in the event that I'm laid off, if I have cheapo furniture then I can easily sell it on fb marketplace or something and get my money back, whereas for any newer, nicer furniture, I have to take it with me or sell at a loss. I genuinely think they'd rather see me buy a $2000 couch and only pay $1300 of my own money if it's "nice" than get the $120 couch even though I like it. Idk, on the one hand I feel like they're being unreasonably particular about this. And on the other hand I feel like it's their money, they wanted it to be used for a couch, maybe I'm being the asshole by looking a gift horse in the mouth.
What say you, reddit?
