2023.06.07 21:52 Alabouche Savings?

I am a meat eater with two rampantly carnivorous kids. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to invest in a butchery course for myself. Are there potential savings to be made if you know your way around larger cuts of meat? Where would I buy them from to save money? Thanks..

2023.06.07 21:52 Happiness-College The #1 Habit I wish I started sooner.

If I sold you a pill that gave you complete self control at all times, how much would you pay for it?
What if this pill could:
How much would you pay to buy it?
What if I told you it’s completely free and available to you immediately, all it required was 10 minutes of time for the rest of your life to enjoy the benefits?
That magic pill? Meditating.
It wasn’t until I learned what it actually did that I began to meditate consistently.
I thought meditation was a completely bullshit fad hippies did that had no tangible benefits I cared about.
Meditation is literally one of the first 3 things I do in the morning now.
The reason I hated it was because,
A.I felt like I was bad at it. B. I never felt any results.
Here’s how I fixed those two and started living it.
  1. To be good at meditation, start with 2 minutes a day for 14 days.
This will help you get confident in your ability to focus for that long, then after that you can go up to 5 minutes where I personally started seeing benefits.
  1. How to start seeing benefits.
The #1 issue I had was I wasn’t practicing it long enough for them to kick in.
Meditation is like an antidepressant, you need to do it for 30 days before you start feeling it working.
It’s main benefit?
You will get cravings for things you know undermine your goals. Instead of immediately folding to them though…you’ll acknowledge the desires. Ignore them.
Then keep pursuing your goal.
If achieving all of your goals in life is worth 10 minutes of your time.
Try meditating for 30 days, you won’t regret it.

2023.06.07 21:52 briaobhansith Ambitionless biologist lost on what to do now?

When I was a kid. I dreamed of being a singer, then a marine biologist or environmentalist, and finally a doctor. I went to college studying biology in the pre-med track, and realized eventually it wasn't for me. Now, I have an MS in Immunology and no idea what to do.
I guess I thought if I sought out something that involves passion and purpose, those things would eventually find me? They never did, and now I'm fresh out of grad school in a job I'm not really enjoying with okay but not great pay and great benefits. I feel guilty, because my boss is actually wonderful and it's a job someone really could get passionate about because the research is interesting and important, but that someone just isn't me.
The point of posting this is that I don't care about being fulfilled by a job anymore. I don't care about having a job that's full of meaning and purpose and all of that stuff. I want something relatively low-stress with good money (and by good money I mean comfortable, able to start a family in 5 or so years, able to buy things at the grocery store without worrying too much about if it'll put you over budget). I want to clock in and out and not think about work after, and I don't want to worry about what health issues a random chemical I'm working with might cause in 20 years. I have no interest in climbing ladders or being senior author on something. I just want a job that I don't mind going to every day, that funds the stuff I actually want to be doing.
So, what do I do? I don't know where I can go from here. A lot of the non-bench science jobs I've seen require a PhD, and while I'm good at school, I don't know how well being a passionless PhD student would go. I've looked at few other jobs, patent examiner being one, but I've read mixed things on the education requirements, potential salary, etc.
Does anyone have recommendations for job titles that would fit my experience and what I'm searching for? I feel really stuck, and I just want to find something that lets me live my life, rather than work my life away. Thank you!

Hello everyone!
I do scrapbooking at work where we tend to use single letters (wooden or stickers similar to these but because of the nature of language, we end up with a bunch of the uncommon letters left over (such as Xs, Zs, Fs etc) and run out of the more common ones.
Does anybody know whrre i could buy sheets of the same letters? That aren't boring looking (the only ones i could find were small black ones on gold background)

2023.06.07 21:51 TheButterMouse Stupid Ocky And His Stupid Number Stations

Stupid old Ocky banged on about number stations all day long. His monotone drawl repeated the same facts about how if you tune into certain frequencies on your radio, you can hear streams of numbers spewed out by clipped English voices. Sentences that make no sense. And most bizarrely enough, the tinkle of music that sounded like an ice cream van. All message ciphers for government agents.
This is true, and fascinating, but once you understand the meaning behind such bizarre phenomena, most people move on with their lives.
Not Ocky. Ocky had his basement crammed with tech that buzzed with static. His jumpers may have had holes at the elbows, and his trousers did not reach his ankles, but he showed off new pieces of kit every week.
Stupid old Ocky. Always good fun though. After a few pints a story about North Korean shortwave signals was a good laugh.
‘Tell us about the ice cream vans Ocky,’ We would say, and he would adjust his glasses, and tell us once again of spies, and their streams of numbers hidden in plain sight.
One night Ocky burst into the pub, holding printed sheets of paper.
He rambled about hours spent cracking codes. How his equipment had been worth the investment, and the debt on multiple credit cards. After all this time, he had a location. An exact spot in Scotland where his precious number station existed.
‘Who wants to come?’ He shouted.
We cheered, and raised our hands. This was like finding a unicorn after bullying someone for wearing a horn on their head.
Ocky’s one condition was we had to leave tonight.
Four pints of cider each made this a brilliant game. Since we lived in Devon, we pooled the money for petrol, and crammed into the back of Ocky’s Mum’s Peugeot. We left around eleven that evening, and sped down dark country roads and glowing motorways. We stopped once for hot drinks and toilet breaks. I remember Ocky’s hands shaking on the steering wheel, even though his coffee remained untouched.
Ocky’s instructions pointed to a spot on the top of a small hill. The closest road ended near some rusted fencing, but we found a gap large enough to squeeze through. We clambered up the gradient, slipping and sliding on the damp grass in our smart trainers. The alcohol had dropped to a pang of regret, and my bladder begged for relief. Ocky was close to receiving a beating.
But the rising sun revealed our prize. We gasped at the ice cream van with the radar antenna on top. The faded signage displaying the tariff, and different types of unknown flavours. The grinning man peering through a mucky window, the cones in both of his hands dripping with grey sludge. And the never ending dirge of ice cream tunes, both familiar, and a tune from hell.
What had Ocky got us into now?

2023.06.07 21:51 MysteriousEgg1724 Quit now, not later.

You are dealing with an addiction.
A drug addiction that is
Which means that,
You are a drug addict.
You HAVE to quit.
Later is never a better time. That's how the trick is set-up. To make you think "I'll quit later" and when the time arrives you'll again say "I'll quit later" but one of those "laters" occur to be the day that it has finally killed you. And that's when you quit, but by then it doesn't matter because you're dead.
So do it now. Take your pack, throw it away along with your lighter and related items and make a promise to never do it again no matter the circumstance.
If you're going through an exam, quit. If you're in a very stressful period of your life, perhaps a breakup, perhaps financial instability, perhaps you lost your job, a loved one, NOW is the best time to quit. Because then it'll be easier to stay quit. And the reason is that it'll boost up your confidence. If you don't smoke during stressful situations, and as such, then you don't have to worry about every other situation.
Do it Now, no excuses, no exceptions. Throw it out your window, throw it all away. Go through the withdrawal period. No it's nothing new to you. If you dont go through 1-3 weeks of withdrawal you'll go through it your whole life. For life you'll have to be a smoker. Never being present, always feeling drowsy and mentally fucked up. You'll always deal with "Where are my cigarettes" and the famous "Time to buy another pack even though I'm so poor that I can't even buy food"

2023.06.07 21:51 herotonero FIRE Cult Leader Buys Model Y

I wrote this satirical post on the Mr Money Mustache blog where he admitted to buying a Model Y because he has the money. I doubt he'll let it onto the comments section so I'm posting it here. Hope you find some humour in it!
In a stunning departure from his usual frugal sermons, the legendary Mr. Money Mustache has purchased a shiny, new Model “Y.”
Jump on the Hedonic Treadmill baby, it's way faster to get to happiness behind the wheel of a sub 3 second 0-60 car than that bike MMM used to ride!
Did he need the Midnight Silver paint? No – but how would the Cult Leader otherwise let you know he has Mo-Stached than you do! Aside from the fact that he’s flying by you with Elon in the passenger seat giving you in your shitty Corolla the double-bird of course!
Put those thoughts about the long-term consequences of consumption right down the hatchet and plug that Model Y into a Tesla supercharger…. Mmmm…. Sweet, sweet amps from Colorado’s Natural Gas and Coal power plants. Where does Tesla find the resources for that battery? Don’t worry about it, it’s above your pay-grade!
Just remember, when you see his Tesla parked in the handicapped spot in front of your local Whole Foods, license plate reading “CULTLDR,” that you have to shop at No Frills because you’re not as good as MMM, and that you should ride your bike there to save the planet (but also because you suck).
PS – buy a shitty condo in that as the “car-free” slum he’s sponsoring cause he's the leader and you're the follower!
PPS – always practice what you preach! Stay Frugal, Plebs!

2023.06.07 21:50 BLuvLuv I am angry at someone going through something terrible

My (20f) friend Sam (23M) died. His girlfriend, Hannah (21f) has been taking it out on my friends (her roommates included) for months.
Now look, I've been through some grief, and loosing Sam to some laced cocaine was beyond shocking. It wasn't at some party or anything either, he was using it to stay up for finals. It is beyond tragic. I had seen him not even a week before it happened. Everyone in my friend group (we get together once a week for game nights) was crushed, validly so. Our game nights always took place where Hannah and two of my good friends live.
Hannah and Sam had been together for about 2 years. I had actually known Adam the least amount of time out of everyone, about 6 months. Granted, I still think about Sam very often. After everything went down (4 months ago when he died) Hannah left to her hometown, which everyone thought was a good idea. She needed the rest and to not be reminded of Sam everywhere she looked.
My friend group mourned, and honored Sam. We went to the park and just looked at the sky, it felt like all we could do. There were no more energetic game nights, it became 5 scared kids sticking together as much as they could, unable to even grasp the idea of losing Sam. Everyone else knew Sam for about 2-3 years. It was a really hard time for everyone.
Once Hannah returned, we were very gentle around her. Things were rough, as her two roommates are in relationships, one a very new relationship, and Hannah's boyfriend just died so it was hard for her to see others in happy relationships. There became an unspoken rule that no one could have a boyfriend in a time like this, and she became envious of her roomies. Tension started to rise, regardless her roommates sat with her day and night, being a shoulder to cry on. Everyone was constantly checking up on her. Feelings were set aside, and we did our best to make Hannah happy.
I understood all of this, I get grief is just one of those things that sparks a number of emotions.
Things started picking back up slowly, we are nowhere near where things used to be when Sam was around, but we are together. Game nights started including games again, and it was a slow transition that happened over weeks and weeks. Hannah, though, started to "act out"? We had to walk on eggshells.
At first it was little meaningless things, and she would threaten to move out. If she was left alone for more than a day "no one cared about her" and she was ready to pack up and leave. She took in Sam's leopard gecko and neglected it terribly. Even I was buying food and changing the lights for the gecko. She stopped responding to everyone when she would leave for days at a time. We just needed to know how to split up the care for the gecko. I get it is difficult, but why let the poor thing starve. I expressed I was more than happy to take in the gecko for as long as she needed. Things just got worse though.
Her roommates became frustrated that Hannah wouldn't let them see their boyfriend's and that Hannah was accusing them of not being there for her. It's important to note that I know for a fact she has every single one of us fighting to be there for her. Making her comfortable and including her when she is able. Refusing to leave her out, even if she wasn't in a good mood, because who can be in a good mood when their SO dies unexpectedly?? This friend group is beyond caring and understanding (except one who struggles with empathy, but she interacts with Hannah the least and never said anything out of hand or against her, at most avoided her when times were rocky). Things got muddier and confusing.
Things have gotten much more concerning recently, though. Hannah is causing so much harm towards everyone, now.
She resigned a lease with her roommates, who are a part of this game night group. After signing, she immediately told everyone she's moving out. This really fucked up the other two roommate's plans, and they've been beyond stressed out housing as they can't break their lease now. Honestly, the tension before this was obvious, and I told my friends they were stupid for signing the lease with her (in a nicer way though).
She would do things like hide the TV remote in her room. We used Sam's gaming counsels for our game nights, and Hannah took those, too. Little by little we weren't allowed to speak about Sam or have any type of fun. Most nights we just silently watched a movie and smoked or something. Only Hannah was allowed to mourn. Everything was on her terms, and it was awkward.
She started making out of pocket comments about race and people's appearances in general. How black people are animals. Very shocking stuff, but also delivered in such a nonchalant way. I have no idea if I just hadn't seen this side of her, but it felt very new and odd.
I fear Hannah is very out of touch with the reality of her relationships, though. She has become almost manipulative towards us all. She reached out and sent me a very long paragraph that my friends are all evil and have made despicable actions towards her. I had written a long, heartfelt letter after Sam's passing for this group, and they hung it on their fridge. It was to honor Sam and to stay connected and to never forget that my friends are loved.
Hannah told me my friends destroyed the note. she told me she would love to be friends and be in contact, but that my friends were terrible people.
The thing is, is that this isn't real. The note is fine, and her roommates have not been evil. This feels like it has all been building up, but EVERYONE is confused. I feel that the past 4 months I have been reassuring everyone that grief is weird and complicated, but to do our best, but at this rate we have all been pushing our feelings aside and Hannah is the only one allowed to grieve.
She has unadded us all.
I responded reassuring her the note is okay and that it was just a misunderstanding. I told her I'd love to chat more and I'm happy to talk about Sam's loss too, as I witnessed my stepmom lose her partner, same with my uncle. I told her that everyone is concerned for her. I asked her to explain what evil has been done if she is comfortable. I asked her what was up, and told her I'm lost, everyone is confused.
She never responded.
I want to respond so bad calling her out, but I won't. That's what this is for.
I am so angry and frustrated. She is allowed to be upset and sad and move away and leave, but she has no right to call my friends evil. She is jumping to conclusions and making things hard for her roommates and the group overall. We lost two friends this year.
She's living off Sam's parents' money and moving across the country to live on their property. I feel bad that she is taking advantage of his parents in such a venerable state, but I am now glad we won't have to deal with her, and we can properly grieve.
I suspect she has some mental issues; it is more than grief as of right now. To turn and lie about such great friends. She has victimized herself in such a deep way, I hope she finds help.
I was forgiving for a long time; I was always backing her up when all of my friends started noticing her toxic behavior. I reassured them over and over that grief is intense and confusing, but this time I can't defend her. It's my time to be allowed to be angry. I will let her move on and live her life. I will not forget about Sam.

2023.06.07 21:50 GiraffeOk1035 What is Digital Forensics? What is digital forensics in simple terms? What is an example of a digital forensic? What are the 3 main branches of digital forensics? What is digital forensics in cyber security? ---------------------- Digital forensics or digital forensic science is a branch of cybersecurity focused on the recovery and investigation of material found in digital devices and cybercrimes. Digital forensics was originally used as a synonym for computer forensics but has expanded to cover the investigation of all devices that store digital data.
What is Digital Forensics?
As society increases its reliance on computer systems and cloud computing, digital forensics becomes a crucial aspect of law enforcement agencies and businesses. Digital forensics is concerned with the identification, preservation, examination, and analysis of digital evidence, using scientifically accepted and validated processes, to be used in and outside of a court of law.
While its roots stretch back to the personal computing revolution in the late 1970s, digital forensics began to take shape in the 1990s and it wasn't until the early 21st century that countries like the United States began rolling out nationwide policies.
Today, the technical aspect of an investigation is divided into five branches that encompass seizure, forensic imaging, and analysis of digital media.
What is the Purpose of Digital Forensics?
The most common use of digital forensics is to support or refute a hypothesis in a criminal or civil court:
Digital forensics experts are also hired by the private sector as part of cybersecurity and information security teams to identify the cause of data breaches, data leaks, cyber attacks, and other cyber threats.
Digital forensic analysis may also be part of incident response to help recover or identify any sensitive data or personally identifiable information (PII) that was lost or stolen in a cybercrime.
What is Digital Forensics Used For?
Digital forensics is used in both criminal and private investigations.
Traditionally, it is associated with criminal law where evidence is collected to support or negate a hypothesis before the court. Collected evidence may be used as part of intelligence gathering or to locate, identify or halt other crimes. As a result, data gathered may be held to a less strict standard than traditional forensics.
In civil cases, digital forensic teams may help with electronic discovery (eDiscovery). A common example is following unauthorized network intrusion. A forensics examiner will attempt to understand the nature and extent of the attack, as well as try to identify the attacker.
As encryption becomes more widespread, the forensic investigation becomes harder, due to the limited laws compelling individuals to disclose encryption keys.
What is the Digital Forensics Investigation Process?
There are a number of methodologies for the forensic process, which define how forensic examiners should gather, process, analyze, and extract data. Digital forensics investigations commonly consist of four stages:
  1. Seizure: Prior to actual examination, the digital media is seized. In criminal cases, this will be performed by law enforcement personnel to preserve the chain of custody.
  2. Acquisition: Once the assets are seized, a forensic duplicate of the data is created, using a hard drive duplicator or software imaging tool. Then the original drive is returned to secure storage to prevent tampering. The acquired image is verified with SHA-1 or MD5 hash functions and will be verified again throughout the analysis to verify the evidence is still in its original state.
  3. Analysis: After the acquisition of the evidence, files are analyzed to identify evidence to support or contradict a hypothesis. The forensic analyst usually recovers evidence material using a number of methods (and tools), often beginning with the recovery of deleted information. The type of data analyzed varies but will generally include email, chat logs, images, internet history, and documents. The data can be recovered from accessible disk space, deleted space, or the operating system cache.
  4. Reporting: Once the investigation is complete, the information is collated into a report that is accessible to non-technical individuals. It may include audit information or other meta-documentation.
What Tools Do Digital Forensic Examiners Use?
In the 1980s, very few digital forensic tools existed, which forced forensic investigators to perform live analysis, using existing sysadmin tools to extract evidence. This carried the risk of modifying data on the disk which led to claims of evidence tampering.
Contact us at for technical problems about your task or issue regarding hacking services.
The need for software to address this problem was first recognized in 1989 at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and resulted in the creation of IMDUMP and SafeBack. DIBS, a hardware and software solution, was released commercially in 1991.
These tools create an exact copy of a piece of digital media to work on while leaving the original disk intact for verification. By the end of the 1990s, the demand for digital evidence meant more advanced tools such as EnCase and FTK were developed, allowing analysts to examine copies of media without live forensics.
There is now a trend towards live memory forensics using tools such as WindowsSCOPE and tools for mobile devices.
Today, there are single-purpose open-source tools like Wireshark, a packet sniffer, and HashKeeper, a tool to speed up the examination of database files. As well as commercial platforms with multiple functions and reporting capabilities like Encase or CAINE, an entire Linux distribution designed for forensics programs.
In general, tools can be broken down into the following ten categories:
  1. Disk and data capture tools
  2. File viewers
  3. File analysis tools
  4. Registry analysis tools
  5. Internet analysis tools
  6. Email analysis tools
  7. Mobile devices analysis tools
  8. Mac OS analysis tools
  9. Network forensics tools
  10. Database forensics tools
What are the Different Branches of Digital Forensics?
Digital forensics is no longer synonymous with computer forensics. It is increasingly concerned with data from other digital devices such as tablets, smartphones, flash drives, and even cloud computing.
In general, we can break digital forensics into five branches:
  1. Computer forensics
  2. Mobile device forensics
  3. Network forensics
  4. Forensic data analysis
  5. Database forensics
What is Computer Forensics?
Computer forensics or computer forensic science is a branch of digital forensics concerned with evidence found in computers and digital storage media. The goal of computer forensics is to examine digital data with the aim of identifying, preserving, recovering, analyzing and presenting facts and opinions about the digital information.
It is used in both computer crime and civil proceedings. The discipline has similar techniques and principles to data recovery, with additional guidelines and practices designed to create a legal audit trail with a clear chain of custody.
Evidence from computer forensics investigations is subjected to the same guidelines and practices as other digital evidence.
What is Mobile Device Forensics?
Mobile device forensics is a branch of digital forensics focused on the recovery of digital evidence from mobile devices using forensically sound methods.
While the phrase mobile device generally refers to mobile phones, it can relate to any device that has internal memory and communication ability including PDA devices, GPS devices, and tablets.
While the use of mobile phones in crime has been widely recognized for years, the forensic study of mobile phones is a new field, beginning in the late 1990s.
The growing need for mobile device forensics is driven by:
That said, mobile device forensics is particularly challenging due to:
As a result of these challenges, many tools exist to extract evidence from mobile devices. But no one tool or method can acquire all evidence from all devices. This has forced forensic examiners, especially those who wish to be expert witnesses, to undergo extensive training to understand how each tool and method acquires evidence, how it maintains forensic soundness, and how it meets legal requirements.
What is Network Forensics?
Network forensics is a branch of digital forensics focused on monitoring and analyzing computer network traffic for information gathering, legal evidence, or intrusion detection.
Unlike other branches of digital forensics, network data is volatile and dynamic. Once transmitted, it is gone so network forensics is often a proactive investigation.
Network forensics has two general uses:
  1. Monitoring a network for anomalous traffic and identifying intrusions.
  2. Law enforcement may analyze capture network traffic as part of criminal investigations.
What is Forensic Data Analysis?
Forensic data analysis (FDA) is a branch of digital forensics that examines structured data in regard to incidents of financial crime. The aim is to discover and analyze patterns of fraudulent activities. Structured data is data from application systems or their databases.
This can be contrasted to unstructured data that is taken from communication, office applications, and mobile devices. Unstructured data has no overarching structure and analysis, therefore, means applying keywords or mapping patterns. Analysis of unstructured data is usually done by computer forensics or mobile device forensics experts.
What is Database Forensics?
Database forensics is a branch of digital forensics related to databases and their related metadata. The cached information may also exist in a server's RAM requiring live analysis techniques.
A forensic examination of a database may relate to timestamps that apply to the update time of a row in a relational database that is being inspected and tested for validity to verify the actions of a database user. Alternatively, it may focus on identifying transactions within a database or application that indicate evidence of wrongdoing, such as fraud.

2023.06.07 21:50 Annual-One-994 The Advantages of Investing in Gold: A Time-Tested Asset for Financial Stability

In today's ever-changing and unpredictable financial landscape, it's crucial to explore investment opportunities that offer stability and resilience. One such asset that has stood the test of time is gold. For centuries, gold has captivated civilizations across the globe with its beauty, rarity, and intrinsic value. Its unique characteristics make it an intriguing addition to any diversified portfolio. Some of the advantages of investing in gold include:
  1. Store of value and wealth preservation: Gold has proven its ability to preserve wealth over time. Throughout history, it has been a symbol of wealth and power, maintaining its allure even in the face of economic uncertainty and market volatility. Unlike fiat currencies that can be subject to inflationary pressures, gold's scarcity and physical properties contribute to its value as a reliable store of value. It has acted as a hedge against inflation, offering stability and security during turbulent times.
  2. Portfolio diversification: Achieving a well-diversified portfolio is a fundamental strategy for managing risk and maximizing returns. Including gold in your investment mix can significantly enhance diversification. Gold often exhibits a lower correlation with traditional financial assets such as stocks and bonds. When other investments may experience downturns, gold has the potential to perform differently, providing a buffer against market fluctuations and reducing overall portfolio risk.
  3. Global demand and market liquidity: Gold maintains a robust and highly liquid global market. Its universal appeal makes it accessible to investors worldwide. Whether you prefer to invest in physical gold in the form of bars or coins, or through investment vehicles like gold ETFs or gold mining stocks, there are numerous avenues to participate in this market. The liquidity of gold ensures that you can easily buy or sell your gold holdings as needed, offering flexibility and agility in managing your investment portfolio.
  4. Economic and geopolitical considerations: Gold's value can be influenced by various economic and geopolitical factors. It often serves as a barometer for market sentiment, and its price can respond to shifts in the global economic landscape. During times of economic crisis or geopolitical tensions, gold has historically acted as a safe haven asset, attracting investors seeking stability and a store of value. By monitoring these factors and their potential impact on gold prices, investors can gain valuable insights for making informed investment decisions.
One company I’d recommend checking out is CopAur Minerals (TSXV: CPAU). $CPAU is a junior mining company focused on exploring and developing their portfolio of assets. They have one gold/copper asset in BC, Canada, along with 3 high grade gold assets in Nevada. This is where their flagship asset, The Kinsley Mountain Gold Project, is located. Kinsley is a significantly advanced project with a 500,000+ ounce deposit currently and historical production of 138,000 ounces of high grade oxide gold from 1995-1999. They recently announced a drill program at Kinsley where they plan to increase the size and grade of the resource through in-fill drilling, along with testing new targets that have near-mine discovery potential.

2023.06.07 21:47 No_Ocelot3008 Partner (M38) blames me (F35) for every problem. How do I encourage him to seek mental health resources?

I’ve been with my partner for 15 years.
For the past few years, he has been extremely volatile in his moods. He has become increasingly unhappy in his life, and attributes everything that has ever happened negatively to me. Here are a few examples off the top of my head:
It’s becoming exhausting being blamed for everything. It’s in every day little things too. I can see that this isn’t normal behaviour, and I’ve told him plenty of times that he needs to seek therapy for his anxiety over food going bad and money, and for his total lack of taking ownership of his own actions. I’ve even suggested couples therapy. But nothing ever comes of it. I can’t even get him to go get blood work done for his doctor!! How do I get him to see he needs help? This can’t be a normal way to live.l

2023.06.07 21:47 final566 Lets talk about Ornn

Ornn is disgustingly OP his and not because of his #s rather the passive changes in wild rift currently from challenger Chinese analysis, Jungle and Support Ornn seem to be extremely strong, for those that do not know when you buy with ornn passive unlike PC the closest ally champion can then purchase an item you can use this strategically to infinite almost farm jungle (because fruits exists) go to mid lane or top lane or bot lane and give them an item which will likely cause a force of the enemy to back out, for support same thing you ADC can come online faster without having to leave lane and lose valuable gold.
so far he seems to be quite a strong jungler from Chinese PBE I saw a custom challenger 5v5 where the Ornn base like four times the entire game and had complete utter control of the entire map because at some point the enemy jungler had to base and he just went wild with farming of course his early jungle clear is on the slow side but once you get point. I am actually excited to play this guy mid one of my OG mains I use to enjoy.

2023.06.07 21:46 FlyBoyG All things considered, TF2 is probably one of the least-predatory Free-to-Play game there is

You're a brand-new player, you download TF2 right now and you have a smaller inventory, can't get certain cosmetic drops and are restricted from talking in chat. You purchase one thing one time and upgrade your account to premium, removing these restrictions. This system isn't perfect but it's good. It's like you're playing a demo with unlimited play-time until you buy the game for whatever the lowest cost item is.
TF2 isn't really pay-to-win. You could say the starting inventory size is too small since you can't hold one copy of every single gameplay-changing weapon. The vast majority of weapons are side-grades, BUT a premium player has a small advantage over a free-to-play player. That advantage is choice. A premium account with every gameplay-changing weapon can play any class and experience all the gameplay possibilities of the game. You can change loadouts to better deal with any enemy composition. So is TF2 pay-to-win? Ya, but it's just a one-time purchase so it's not a big deal.
Let's compare TF2 to modern-day free-to-play games. A game like Diablo Immortal has diabolical systems at play to farm its users for money. The tutorial forces the user to open the cash shop. The game has a daily login-bonus where you get some stuff once per day, but you have to open the cash shop to get it. The game tries to implant a habit into the brain of its players. It creates a habit of logging in every day and normalizes looking at the cash shop.
TF2 has random drops. You could get them from a couple hours of gameplay in a week. TF2 does not give an F if you don't open it. You don't miss out on much. Random drops kinda suck anyways. Metal's so worthless that you might as well use excess metal to craft hats. The point is: the game isn't trying to force you to launch it every day. Sure the cash shop is there on the main menu but nothing is forcing you to open it.
What about crates and cases? You spend some money and randomly gamble on cosmetics. The drop-rates for items are known and everything you get is cosmetic. There are some games that gate power behind such systems. Look, gambling isn't great but at least TF2 isn't marketed at children. The point of this post wasn't to say that there isn't faults, only that the faults are way more reasonable than other games.
TF2's not perfect but I think it does the Free-to-Play thing leagues better than other games and I'm glad its monetization isn't in your face.

2023.06.07 21:46 JMM123 Small chance I might be screwed a bit

First time home buyer here. I have an accepted offer since April.
This what it shows on the signed offer:
August 29th, 2023-> Completion Date
August 30th,2023 -> Possession Date

The following flexible clause is also added:"The Buyer and Sellers agree that the Sellers reserve the right to unilaterally change the completion and possession/adjustment dates to a sooner or later date no earlier than May 31, 2023 and no later than August 31st, 2023 with 30 days written notice to the Buyers agent delivered via email."
I am renting month to month so this clause is fine- it is present so the seller can try to buy a place in a nearby province and thus have some flexibility with closing dates there. I am hoping she exercises this option in the near future. However I realize now after the fact that the mortgage approval only has my rate guaranteed up until August 29th, 2023.
Anything beyond that and I could be forced to pay a higher mortgage rate since the rates went up. Thus this leaves two possible days where I will be at the seller's mercy.
From talking to my agent and mortgage broker, my best option if it comes down to them extending it to the 30th or 31st: To ask if they can keep the closing date August 29th, and then extend the possession date to whatever is reasonable to the seller (I would be unable to move in until the weekend anyway due to work).
My question is:Do you think there reasonable reasons a seller might refuse to complete a few days sooner in this case?
I can't imagine too many reasons why they wouldn't appreciate the extra buffer and early transfer of funds but am looking for a bit of reassurance here to avoid the panic

2023.06.07 21:45 SenorCuervo2020 Need help with building a PC for friend.

Trying to help a buddy build a pc so thought to ask here for help. I will be sending through another post in a few weeks for my own PC. Thanks in advance!
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: toweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSDs, mass HDDs, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc.)
8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-towefull-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free at OnTheHub or through their school's IT software distribution department.
10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
11. Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc.)
12. What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.

2023.06.07 21:45 cybrsox Blizzard abandoned the near-perfect formula in favor of corporate gain

Warning: A lot of ranting ahead
Stay a while, and listen...
TL;DR: User-powered economies are the true end-game of all successful titles, and by further restricting this, people will eventually tire at a more rapid pace even with Battle Pass content coming into play.
I'm like most of you: i've been waiting a LONG time, with tons of anticipation for D4 to come out. The dev's promises of pulling the best elements of previous releases, the art and music style of D2, a return to some of the nostalgic experiences of games old... I was invested. I've dumped probably 80 hours into D4 so far, and to date, it's providing to be a decent time sink... it shows it's AAA investment in the artwork, the detail in some of the gameplay aspects, and the overall polish. But there's a sickening feeling that's starting to grow in me as I continue to play, and it's very evident there's a harsh reality that I am in the process of waking up to... Diablo 4's economy will be completely controlled by Blizzard, and them alone.
Diablo Economy - A Retrospective (if you don't care about my credentials, skip to the next paragraph) A quick bit about me so you know where I'm coming from. I've played all of the Diablo titles since their release - It's probably the #1 franchise that I've invested my time into. In a past life, I've also been a dev and coder on a few DnD themed MMO's/MUDs and various other multi-user platforms (both PVE and PVP), and I've studied the impacts of various components, features, and capabilities as they relate to game function and economy as a whole. For those that haven't had the privilege of working with such things at scale, it's a very delicate process and nigh impossible to balance at times, especially when you have varying degrees of interests you are trying to appease (users). Some of diablo's gamplay functions had a direct impact on some of the features I built into games I've worked on.
Diablo's economy has definitely gone through a progression of sorts. Diablo 1 introduced us to a connected marketplace, and user to user trading. Almost all items in the game were fair game for trading. This meant you could openly trade items you found with any person, for whatever material good you so desired. This also introduced a large amount of fraud, as the initial implementation of the trading mechanism had some flaws which allowed people to scam others out of their hard earned goods. Diablo 1's primary items of value were your swords "of Haste" or your "of the Zodiac" items - generally the top-tier suffixed items that you could only farm in Hell.
Diablo 2's economy built upon the successful model of D1, and further enhanced the experience. The number of items, variety in the affixes, crafting and imbuing components - it added a new dimension to gameplay which subsequently resulted in a huge growth in the player based economy. You saw sites like d2jsp pop up, discord communities where powerleveling services and trading takes place. Again, all of this controlled by the community. By this time, there was a huge jump in the number of 3rd party services and websites offering to sell D2 items and services, most of them for real money. D2's formula was almost perfect...
-----Important Event in Our Timeline: 2008 (8 years after D2 releases), Activision Buys Blizzard-----
By the time D3 rolls around, Activision is now in possession of the Diablo IP. This is where we see a fundamental shift in the Diablo engine and economy. Blizzard bean counters notice that there is a LOT of possible revenue being bled by the D2 title (which, again, is still selling copies). Their solution: let's control where people sell items for money, take a cut, under the guise of a 'safe transaction' system. Oh, and there's a key thing to point out here: This is where Blizzard starts to implement a higher volume of account bound items. Additionally D3 introduces the concept of level scaling. These are key changes that have a drastic impact on the game economy (and end-game model) which I'll talk about below. Blizzard's real-money auction house fails miserably, but the real damage has already been done.. however through the auction house disaster distraction, I'm not sure everyone saw what was really happening.
Fast forward to this past month... D4 is here... HOORAY! A return to times of old!.. Yeah, no. Some MAJOR shifts here, which I'll dig into more in the next section. 1. Blizzard locks all legendaries (and more items in general) to account bound (there are some nuances here, but I'm not here to argue those... I'm here to argue the general restriction of account bound legendaries and above) 2. They continue with level scaling, enhanced version. Their fleece? We went back to the dark style of D2... it's sure to win over all the nostalgists. 3. It's battle pass time! - there's a few schools of thought on why Blizzard is going the battle pass route, but to me it's fairly obvious, and I'll cover it below. Oh.. and lets not forget 4. The Epic Store cosmetic shop
Why Do We Play These Games in the First Place? This is my take.. and it's based on the personas I've met throughout the years who have invested the most time into the Diablo, DND, WOW franchises. IMO, Diablo... DND... Fantasy themed games in general... Players share a common purpose: Power. They want power. They want to feel progression. They want to stand out, to be recognized for their accomplishments. In diablo 1 and 2, you advanced levels, and as you did, you could feel the power shifting from the demons to you. If you felt too weak going into a new area and grew discouraged, you'd go back a bit and take your frustrations out on lower level scum... cathartically. As you geared up, your dominance grew... you started to stand out from the crowd. I'll give a quick shout out to Carbot and his D2 paladin sketch where swarms of low level people crowd around him as he hands out legendary and powerful loot to lower level people. Diablo at it's core has been about the loot and the power grind. It wasnt about APM or how many millions bits of damage you could do in a second. It was about being able to grow to such power that you felt you transcended the ultimate power you faced. Now....if you dont agree with me at least in theory on the above, you can probably just stop reading and move on. Otherwise, lets talk about how the 4 primary gameplay factors I've called out in D4 negatively affect this purpose.
Level Scaling This is one of the 2 most detrimental features that has done the most harm to the IP. When we level up, when we get gear with higher numbers... that's all artificial now. There is really no difference between you being level 1 and doing 5 damage a hit to a mob and level 50 doing 700 damage to a mob. Behind the scenes, you are doing the exact same amount of damage. That mob you are fighting, regardless of you being 1 or 50, has the exact same amount of HP required at either level to kill it. You may ask "then why have a leveling system?" - it's to gate skill and character customization as the real progression. It's a phony progression system if there is no direct impact to the true power of your character, but only HOW it's delivered. To me, knowing this is happening behind the scenes, makes the game feel absolutely empty. Now, to be fair, there are certain nuances here that come into play at the higher levels, but the system at its core is a direct 180 from the puritan formula of growing in power. Some people argue this allows us to keep old content relevant, and also caters to the casual player who may not have all the time in the world to dedicate to the game... but that's not what these games are about, and it's not what they're about in the end. Its about standing out. Its about power.
External / Economy Impact: Level scaling also allows Blizzard to somewhat negate the allure of power leveling services. By having more flexibility in what content can be reached at each level, there's no real need to move up in level as rapidly as in previous games. Additionally it has a direct impact on the actual function of item rarity within gameplay.
Account Bound Items This one, is obviously more of a cash grab and plays into the "long-term narrative" of gameplay control on Blizzard's part. By gating most of the most powerful items behind the account-bound flag, blizzard becomes the only source of providing access to these items. Now, a lot of people are saying that the true min/max items will be rares, which are tradeable, however, from what I've seen and is likely to be the case, there will be certain legendary+ items that will have truly unique capabilities and or looks that you wont get with rares. In which case, legendaries will still be the soup du jour for most people. However, does this mean that people will play more in order to get these items? Not necessarily. In fact, it's likely the average of 2 groups: the early end-game quitters and the hardcore players (will play to the end of the title's availability), and taking that average, they probably found that there's opportunity to squeeze more money out of that average player base if they control the item market than if it were an open market with 3rd parties handling item transactions. But here's the real kicker... If you look at the open market in D2... many people bought items from 3rd party services because they didnt have the time to dedicate to playing the game to get to the level of power they wanted to be at. With level scaling being in the game, the actual impact of Rare vs Legendary and high-tier items drops significantly, so even if account bound items were tradable, the return on investment would really be minimal and not nearly as significant as buying a runeworded item. (which my bet is runes will be account bound - remind me if i'm wrong)
End-Game Sustainer: Aka Battle Pass Expansion packs - the way of the past. Diablo 1 or Diablo 2 - you finish the campaigns and unlock hell mode... what do you do? You farm. You try to get that ultimate build. You continue to grow in power. You look for ways to speed run Diablo in less than 15 minutes. Those items you're farming for - oh look, you're 1 rune away from your enigma.. time to go onto Discord and trade (or buy) for that last rune. Rinse and Repeat. LoD comes out - sweet - new content, more items, economy grows. Maybe you make a few bucks on the side selling runes while you complete the new campaign. Everyone's happy.
Now, let me introduce you to the new "expansion pack"... it's a slimmed down amount of content, hidden behind the allure of new cosmetics and quest rewards. This is just the reality we now live in when it comes to AAA titles. It's easier and more efficient for them to spit out cosmetics along with minor content updates and charge for it than it is to develop a significant amount of content and sell it for $49. The goal of the battle pass is to keep people playing and interested while also generating additional revenue. With D1 and D2, the additional revenue stopped after the game purchases, and any new revenue was bleeding out in the form of 3rd party transactions for items and services. With the new model, not only do you lock down those pesky 3rd party cash bleeds, but you also continue to generate new revenue. This model also ties nicely back to our Level Scaling approach for gameplay. Because the behind the scenes damage and enemy scaling formula remains linear, you will not run into situations where you break game balance or run into item scaling issues as significantly as say when WoW introduced Burning Crusade or Lich King. Again - it's all smoke and mirrors and those numbers are actually the same ones that you were shelling out when you were poking that first wolf in the snow with your stone dagger.
The battle pass as i mentioned above isnt necessarily bad - we'll get some new content... new cosmetics, etc. But the quality and volume of it will be limited. (my bet)
The Epic Store Cosmetic Shop This one... is probably the most anti-diablo thing ever to grace our monitors. Listen, we all get that people want to look cool, and people are willing to pay for it - they're all trying to get a piece of that fortnite magic... But for the most part... I dont feel like the diablo community is the same as those other communities. Yes, we all want our characters to look the part - going back to my "why we play" statement... part of feeling badass is looking badass. But it takes away from the individuality that is at the core of many RPG's. It takes away from the sense of accomplishment that accompanies playing this game. If anyone can just have it for a price, then why would I want it? Blizzard's likely justification here, and again, this is them putting their arms around the money/economy, is that players would just go out and buy the items from a 3rd party as it is. If we can fleece them into saying we're only selling looks, when in reality, when you combine cosmetic upgrades with the account bound limitations, the truth is: they are still selling us the entire outfit - we're just purchasing them via 2 transactions: 1. the actual items through continued, controlled gameplay and 2. a cosmetic purchase.
Open Economies - The Real End Game Whether you like concept of them or not, open markets are the true end games of all long-lived, successful, and I'll fair to say enjoyed titles. Wow classic for example would not have been as successful as it was without a fairly open economy at the end game existing in the form of GDKP's and 3rd party gold sellers (and internal / guild based transactions), and lack of level scaling / power leveling services. Diablo 2 to this day, thrives because of it's open economy, and the ability to trade high level items, and lack of level scaling. I would be willing to bet money, that if you went back in time, and restricted either of those games to the extent that D4 has done, we would see a fraction of the player base still involved in those games.
This is the reality folks... by controlling when and where you get the items, allowing you to upgrade the appearance through cosmetic enhancements, and keeping internal gameplay linear, blizzard has effectively become the entire D4 economy and 3rd party services, and controls where the money goes, all at the expense of true gameplay; Their formula is a corporate formula. I know a lot of people are having fun killing demons right now, but if you look deep and hard at what you're actually playing... are you sure this is really the future of what Diablo game development and play should look like? For me, it's not.

2023.06.07 21:44 Individual-Region-57 I don’t really know what to do, any advice?

So I’m being bullied by these two girls that I thought were my friends, we got into an argument were they ganged up on me before i sent them screenshots of all my photos and they circled something’s that were “sus” which somewhat started the argument as I said things back to what they said about my “sus” photos. They ended up ghosting me on the Saturday we had the argument and didn’t talk to me at school, telling who I thought was just their little group a whole different version where I was the bad guy that I can only assume was highly exaggerated. They didn’t say they didn’t want to talk to anymore they just basically said I was messed up and I thought that we make up on Monday. They ended up telling a bunch of people that I had “porn” in my camera roles at other bullshit, but the dirtiest photos that I had that they circled were legit just a girls outfit from Tik tok that I took a screenshot of because I thought it was a good fit (the out fit was an aliah core fit, search it up if you don’t know what it is but it’s definitely not “porn”) and the other was another screenshot from a Kernal Sanders edit that my sister sent me on tik tok. If I’m correct the video sprouted from yt as like a music video thirst trap and in the small clip I saw kernal sanders he didn’t have a shirt on and his abs were out. I took a screenshot and apparently that’s “porn” to them, a shirtless dude. They talked behind my back, make fun of me, spread rumors, tell people I have a crush on this dude that I only talked to for the time he was at my table in one class, and even stole my phone after thinking I “hacked one of their accounts on Roblox” fyi I didn’t and they have never told me their passwords but tbh their just stupid and it’s there fault for not putting an email or pin or phone number or something as an extra precaution. I thankfully got my phone back because my mom had one of the bully’s moms phone number and asked her for the other bullies moms info, they both gave me dirty looks the next day like I did something to them. I wish I brought it up with the school that day so they would get in trouble because I honestly doubt their push over Mom‘s did anything to them while I got screamed at by mine for not telling an adult. They’ve also sabotaged me and im sure have done other things I’m not aware of. I’m not really a social person and there’s like no one I’m close with and if I am close with them then one of the girls are closer. The only person who told me jack shit admitted that they would still be friends with the person who tormented me if she didn’t stop talking to her once she my friend asked for proof. It’s currently summer and I really don’t want to go to school again in two months knowing I’ll be tormented and get dirty looks from people who blindly believe them. More info about me is that I’m a girl, black, a straight a student with a perfect record and some more info about them is that one is white and one mixed I think but still very light, they will pick at me for anything by saying stuff in front of me for example racist things, things about how I look, my friends or lack of I should say and more, they are kind of on good terms with everyone and are not favored by teachers unlike me due to being chatter boxes skipping class in the bathroom , being rude, and just being bad students with bad grades. I haven’t done anything to them sense the argument months ago, but I am looking for advice to get the rumors to stop, what to do in general, and how to maybe get revenge without getting caught seeing as how I haven’t done anything back to them yet. Any advice?

2023.06.07 21:43 Lance2020x Licensed Nurseries... where do you get your wholesale bulbs/corms?

I'm a licensed nursery and I buy wholesale plants and sell them locally, but what I'm having trouble finding is where to get wholesale bulbs/corm. I've done searching and am just not finding a lot of success. I was wondering if there are any licensed nurseries here who have connections they could share.
