2023.06.07 09:47 randomnese Wondering why Dreamstate SF isn't a thing anymore?

Pretty new to trance and raving in general and live in the Bay Area. Went to my first Dreamstate last year and plan to go every year until I physically can't anymore. I was googling around and it looks like Insomniac used to put on a Dreamstate SF in Bill Graham until 2018... anyone know why they stopped? Meanwhile, it looks like Socal is getting Interstellar AND f93 x DS (the week before proper DS) lol

Hey all,
I'm looking for a straight Asian guy to relax with mostly for fun. I'm bicurious.
I have had thoughts about playing with a straight guy for a long time but never had tried it before.
Would prefer if you are asian, around my age, covid vaccinated and monkeypox vaxxed.
We could do this on and off.
Prefer if you had a place to host or we could find a hotel (no car).
Any part of the bay area, prefer outside of sf
DM if interested further

2023.06.07 03:25 TheStylishPropensity Anyone else have their Wawanesa insurance for their MY drastically increase after first year?

Have a 2022 MY in SF Bay area and initial rate was ~$1k every 6 months. Got a letter from Wawanesa saying due to factors like inflation they have to increase rate to $1300. Have 30 days to switch and already started researching. Geico seems to be decent for price.
Anyone else get a similar notice and if so are you switching?

2023.06.07 01:32 Serious-Swordfish361 Looking for Recommendations on Revisionist Orthopedic Surgeon

Does anyone have recommendations for a great revisionist orthopedic surgeon in the Bay Area/SF who's really experienced in revision for messed up knee replacements/fractures? Looking for someone who takes time with patients, explains everything well and in detail beforehand, and is compassionate. Also someone who takes Medicare. If any of you have experience with this type of surgery I'd love to hear about your experience including the surgery, recovery, etc.
P.S. does anyone know if UCSF and Stanford take Medicare for knee replacement revision surgery and how much is typically covered? Wondering how on Earth to afford it and hoping that insurance covers a large chunk.

2023.06.06 23:50 Pale_Huckleberry_106 Potential Career Change 33F - how competitive are SF Bay Area Apprenticeships?

Hi everyone,
I'm in the very early stages of considering a drastic career change. I have about a 4.2 HS, GPA (all As in math up to AP Calculus and AP stats, both of which I got 5s on the AP exams). I also have a BS degree in Business Administration with a 3.97 GPA. No construction experience other than crafty stuff I've done at home. I built, wired and soldered my own electric guitar once, which was really cool. I also have a few years of experience doing guitar repairs and setups for myself and friends.
I've worked in university administration for about 7 years and am both burned out and also concerned about the future of my job (Admissions) due to the impending AI Renaissance. My job will likely be replaced by AI in the next 2-3 years.
I've always liked working with my hands and problem solving. A career as an electrician seems like a potential good fit, but I'm concerned about a couple of things.
First, how competitive are apprenticeships? My closest local is IBEW 302. Is any preference given based on GPA or scores on the entrance exam? Will acing the exam give me a better shot or is work experience preferred?
I'm also concerned about gender discrimination in the workforce. Not sure if it's any better in the SF bay area compared to other parts of the US, but I'm worried about not being able to land employment or sufficient hours simply because of my gender. The application says women and minorities are encouraged to apply, but I don't know what this means when it comes to actually getting work and the working conditions.
I'm also concerned about how pregnant women are treated in this trade, especially at the apprentice level. My biggest reason for wanting to shift careers is to be able to afford having kids. My current salary of 65k doesn't cut it unfortunately. Would I be committing career suicide if I were to become pregnant 2-3 years into an apprenticeship? How do unions typically handle maternity leave? My fear is committing to this path only to get forced out because I want to start a family.

2023.06.06 23:37 newg33b Planning a California / PCH Trip

Starting to plan a trip to California with P2 for next spring. Would like to see the California coast, and she hasn't seen San Francisco before, so we thought we'd spend a couple days there. Thinking about the following itinerary and was hoping for feedback. Working with a timeframe of roughly 10 days.
Day 1: Fly into Bay Area airport, likely SFO, explore SFO, stay at SF hotel (?)
Day 2: SF, stay at SF hotel
Day 3: SF in morning, at some point drive up to Napa, stay at Alila Napa Valley
Day 4: Napa
Day 5: Napa for morning/afternoon, drive to (?) and head south past SF. Not sure where to stay this night. Right now, I'd like to spend the majority of the day in Napa and stay somewhere that gets us South to go towards the coast, thinking Half Moon Bay or Santa Cruz maybe?
Day 6: Monterey morning, maybe extend this to a full day and stay in Monterey this night?
Day 7: Drive to Big Sur, stay at Alila Ventana Big Sur
Day 8: Big Sur, stay at Alila Ventana Big Sur
Day 9: Breakfast, head south, stay in Morro Bay / San Luis Obispo
Day 10: San Luis Obispo to Santa Barbara or Santa Monica, stay in SB/SM
Day 11: Explore Santa Monica, LA quickly, red eye flight back overnight.
I'm thinking it's probably worth a full day to explore Monterey, not just a half day driving from Half Moon Bay / Santa Cruz / wherever we stop coming down from Napa and then going to Alila Ventana Big Sur right away too, but wasn't sure. This would mean staying in Monterey Day 6 or moving Alila Ventana up a day to be our Night 6 accomodation.
I probably wouldn't want to take more time off than this with our other plans. Any advice on this, particularly the Napa to Monterey part and where to stay after Big Sur would be great! Or if this itinerary stinks and should be torn up, lmk too!
We've both been to Southern California already. I've been to LA and San Diego, and she's been to San Diego and seemed less interested in exploring LA than SF, so we were thinking about more time in northern California than southern so far.

2023.06.06 22:28 Stabby_Jesus Programming the ecu/pcm

Hey folks- i have an 05 odyssey and while pulling the codes from the ecu, i just brushed the body with my jumper and ended up shorting the ecu.
I picked up a new (to me) one for cheap, but so far, it seems only dealers can enter the vin so i can start my car again, and then, only if i have the car towed there as well.
Does anyone know of a shop in the sf bay area who can do this without needing the car? I’ve seen some online places that can send a pre-programmed one out to me, but those services run around $300, which is roughly what it would cost for me to tow my car to a dealer and take care of the programming.
Lastly, I’ve read that the new ecu needs to be at least very close to the same revision as the old one in order to work properly, as various hardware and software changes were made to the vehicles as they were produced. My old ecu is pn 37820-rgl-a57, while the new one is 37820-rgl-a83. Does anyone know if this will work okay?
Thanks a bunch!

2023.06.06 21:40 Gardens37 Entry Level Low Voltage Career

I’m looking to get into low voltage in the SF Bay Area (Oakland preferably, but open to long distances if necessary) and wanted see if anyone has any tips on the best way to go about it.
A friend suggested I start off at Allied Universal the way he did.
I’m currently in Warehouse Management and nearly all my work experience is in that category as of now.
It would be great if I could start on weekends or do part time without having to quit my job initially but I’ll consider anything. If anyone has any tips please let me know. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for sometime now.

2023.06.06 18:45 PuzzleheadedCandy484 Climate change

As I sit here in the rain in the SF Bay Area, I contemplate climate change. Friends, I’ve lived her most of my 60 years. I can count on one hand the number of times it’s rained in June. We simply don’t get summer rain in our lovely Mediterranean climate. We’ve just ended a severe 4 year drought. We’ve had them in the past. What are some evidence of climate change that you seen in your outdoor space?
Mine:
I see some bird species I’ve never seen before. I’m talking about you, juncos. I see a drop in the numbers of other species, where have my hummers gone? I have severe fungus infestation on my roses My vegetables are growing slowly Lettuce that usually bolts by now hasn’t
