I’m here but gone, I am both right an wrong.
I’m all around, though quite hard for some, for a few I can be found.
I’m everywhere, effecting all things from any place but I take up no space.
I’m a father but I have no face.
I’m the teller of tales both old and new an every tale I tell..is true.
I see each sun rise an sun set, though I have no memory I can be forgotten but, I never forget.
I’m here for the change of every season; I strike fear in some but, with good reason.
I hear with out ears, the truth an the lies; I see all..though I do so..with no eyes.
I can be missed, I can be lost some say borrowed an in rare cases, even bought
but, not very often.
I can fly..but I can not walk.
I communicate though I can not talk.
I can heal any wound from the deepest broken hearts to the most vicious beastly bites; I can even put an end to any earthly plight.
I settle all scores from the most grievous plagues to the worst world wars.
I am not dead, not even alive.
I am one with the sky, the mountains, the oceans and the sea.
I come and go like the wind an pass by gently as the breeze.
I am one with the stars and the heavens which they comprise.
I envite you now..
come one..come any, come all in droves, for im certain know one among you knows.
Any who be witty..silly, or wise; I call upon you now, to the clever, the brilliant, the genius..the sly,
I ask only that you tell me truly..
What am I..?

Why does my drinking Bud Light offend you?

News item: Anthony Bass, a pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, shared a video Monday via Instagram endorsing an anti-LGBTQ boycott of brands such as Target and Bud Light.

"Here's the reason biblically why I believe Christians have gotta be boycotting Target, Bud Light, and any other corporation that's pushing the things they're pushing,” Bass said. “I think a lot of people make this into a political issue, or they say, 'Oh, what's the big deal?’

“This is evil, this is demonic, we won't stand for it, we're not going to go to the stores anymore and we're not going to give you our money.”

It would be impolite to wish that Mr. Bass, who throws a ball for a living, blows out his elbow. Perhaps then he could simply blow it out his tailpipe.

Because I’ve grown tired of sanctimonious and hypocritical moral outrage over what Target and Bud Light are “pushing,” while it’s permissible that Bass and his ilk get to “push” their beliefs on the rest of us.

Example: In the last two months or so, I’ve been questioned a half dozen times in public as to why I’m drinking Bud Light. Seems people like Bass have objected to Anheuser Busch’s marketing partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Their boycott of Bud Light has led to a decrease in sales both locally and nationally. (Local bar and restaurant owners say Bud Light sales are down almost 30 percent.)

It is their right, of course, to boycott the product. I’m just curious as to why what I’m drinking is their business. I drink Bud Light because I like it. And I’m still drinking Bud Light because I will not marginalize people based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. I’m respectful enough to support someone else’s desire to evolve into another gender. And I’m not stupid enough to believe that my decision to drink Bud Light changes who I am or what I stand for in any possible way.

But I wonder why it’s so important for people — and the questions to me haven’t all come from men — to announce their disdain for a bottle of beer, tacitly implying their sexuality is “normal.” Remember this one and write it down: If you are truly comfortable with who you are, you needn’t announce anything to anyone.

And yet to further illustrate how screwed up this country really is, there’s this: Anheuser-Busch hasn’t merely been accused of alienating its traditional customer base with the partnership, but some LGBTQ+ campaigners have also criticized the company for not defending its ties with Mulvaney.

Amid all the finger-pointing and fear-fanning, the truth hides in the corner, too scared to emerge. The truth is that we are supposed to think critically, weigh evidence from both sides and then make up our own minds. Instead, we’ve become a country hell bent on legislating whatever cause we think is right and just, while burying the other side from all consideration.

It’s political tribalism. All or nothing. One side or the other. If you’re not in agreement with every morsel of the transgender movement, you are a snarling, hating, infidel. If you’re not in total agreement with Anthony Bass and his beliefs, you’re going to wither in hell.

But what if — and hold on to your ascots here — two conflicting positions can still be true? Example: What if I support Bud Light’s decision to use a transgender influencer, but also believe that transgender high school athletes belong in their own division?

I disagree with the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s policy complying with a state law that requires all high school students be treated according to their gender identity. We should consider a sports-centric law that acknowledges sports' unique challenges and accommodates the physical component for success that exists virtually nowhere else in society.

Sex discrimination in education, health care, housing and financial credit have no place in this country. But we must — must — realize and accept that sports require a physical component to succeed that calls for different guidelines.

Put it this way: Applying to a school or for health care, housing or financial credit requires no physical component to succeed. Sports require speed, strength and agility and do not fit under the same umbrella. And yet sports are routinely shoved into the same arguments about unfair treatment. Injustices get piled on for rhetorical usefulness, even though they're not applicable.

The male born composition has inherent physical advantages, rare exceptions noted. But in the aggregate, there are physiologic differences between biological males and females. I don’t believe writing that makes me transphobic. We should respect a person’s pronoun of choice. But that doesn't mean we have to blindly agree with claims that are not supported by science.

Yet that appears to be the new end game in this country. Blind agreement. Their side or yours. And here I sit, sipping my Bud Light, trying to figure out why so many of us act like the last three letters of Anthony Bass’ last name.

This is the opinion of Day sports columnist Mike DiMauro

This article pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about the situation. Bud Light basically sent someone a can with her image celebrating a milestone. The fact it turned the beer into enemy number one doesn’t surprise me considering the vitriol that has become commonplace in our country. I have had plenty of private messages regarding a video I posted supporting a beer, and more importantly a human being. Most have been vehemently against my support of both and relish the chance to send me a screen shot of Bud Lights stock on a daily basis with a “Go woke, Go broke” ending. I believe much of the vitriol comes from news and talk radio which is why Spotify now fills my vehicle with music instead of talk. I ask everyone to limit their news intake to 30 minutes per day regardless of your party affiliation to center your life. Sometimes my radio will land on a “news station”, and I can feel my blood pressure rise as the most divisive topic of the day is being discussed with a majority of the facts not being considered. I am not recommending folks to ignore what’s happening in our world, but would point out that our country has survived many decades without the need for “up to the second” news reports. Most of the things we worry about will never happen and it seems our country is living in a constant state of fear which is certainly to blame for the vitriol. There will never be a point where everyone in the country will collectively say we are all happy with everything, but I still have a deep believe that with constructive conversations and true empathy we can get us close. When I get my boat in the water I would love to have an ice cold Bud Light while listening to my relaxing boat playlist, and of course talking with my favorite sports writer. That’s an invitation Mike. Great article.

“Bud Light sales are down between 26% and 35% nationwide additionally Budweiser and other AB brands (Michelob Ultra, Busch Light and Natural Light to name a few) have also taken a hit of around 11%.”

All the more reason to explain what set this off. Completely unhinged.

“My take, buy Coors stock now”
And that statement reinforces my point since Coors has been a decades long supporter of LGBT rights probably the biggest supporter (it all began with a workegay alliance boycott ironically… or not)
“Coors Light has been a sponsor of The Center and Denver PrideFest for decades,” says Rex Fuller, CEO of The Center on Colfax. “The work we have been able to do at The Center over the last four decades would not be possible without this support and we are grateful for it.”
Beyond supporting Denver PrideFest, Molson Coors has a distinguished history of supporting LGBTQ communities across the country, with significant support for organizations such as Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Matthew Shepard Foundation, National Amateur Gay Athletics Association of America, National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, LGBT Victory Institute, Out & Equal, and One Colorado.
In addition to these partners, Molson Coors works with local LGBTQ organizations in key communities through its Tap Into Change program. Annually, the summer program donates more than $100,000 to these organizations with a consistent growth in impact each year. Events take place in each city to help raise additional funds, awareness, and support for the missions of these local organizations. Over the past 10 years, Tap Into Change has raised nearly $600,000 for local LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS nonprofits.

This is even though like 2006, 2010 and 2014 they had to go through boycotts for this. And they did shrink back in response, but also came right back and didn’t move backwards for long.

And what will I do?
Continue drinking Corona because I drink what I drink.
It’s damn near impossible to do a successful boycott long term. The web of corporate connections means when you think you’re hurting one, it’s actually benefitting another one connected to it.
The beverage brand that owns Budweiser, Corona, and Stella Artois, is suing US beer-maker Constellation Brands for using the Corona brand name in a hard seltzer, according to a lawsuit filed Monday.

Beverage giant Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) acquired Corona’s parent company, Grupo Modelo, in 2013, but US antitrust regulators required it to sell the company’s US-based business to Constellation. AB InBev retained rights to the products in other markets, and the deal gave Constellation the rights to produce Corona and other Modelo brands in the US.

Bud Light sales are down between 26% and 35% nationwide additionally Budweiser and other AB brands (Michelob Ultra, Busch Light and Natural Light to name a few) have also taken a hit of around 11%. Bud Light has been the best selling beer in the USA for over 20 years and the normal volume of sales is 27 million barrels a year or 1134 million gallons. A 30% drop equals a loss of 340 million gallons a year. My take, buy Coors stock now

I don’t ever want to hear about people calling “the libs” snowflakes or use their center liberal stances as a weakness. These champions of “conservatives” are gullible whiny babies.

I watched in real time a bunch of idiots blow something up out of nothing and then saw them flocking to the internet people with their influencer pages and podcasts and publications where immediately they were being hawked “anti-woke” beer and all these other wares, often made by the same places they are boycotting for double the price.
There is a whole market opening up to people that will only get their businesses off the ground (temporarily for a quick cash grab) by using these outrage tactics and capitalizing (literally) on impaired brains that as Mr. DiMauro correctly observed “Blind agreement. Their side or yours”

For me… Bud Light as a “beer” sucks. I would rather support local breweries that provide far better beers. As far as this column… as far as AB selecting this influencer in their campaign I have no opinion on it or that person. Up to each to decide for themselves.

Regarding this column actually Mike what you are writing is basically the same as the boycott and the changes in attitudes (political divide) of the country. Often used by politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle screaming to be open, defending one´s right to choose, freedom of speech etc.. and this is the most important part..”unless it does not validate their opinion or view”. This is exactly what you are writing. So if someone elects to boycott something and we know the WOKE police and Leftists enjoy not only condemning opposing viewpoints to the point of boycotting, attacking employers for the “views” of their employees etc… and demanding they be removed from the position their are in. So if someone boycotts something let them… I would ask you… why does it offend you that others are using their constitutional right by boycotting (freedom of speech). I always respect other´s opinions and even when we do not agree. Sadly we live in a world where people are afraid to speak up due to the potential ramifications. None of us will always agree and I know the powers to be are trying to “force” us to all be uniform in our opinions which is sad. And btw Bud Light is terrible anyway… How about you focus on sports.

2023.06.03 12:43 ParticularPrize2709 I relapsed from sh and my boyfriend chose to “go out with the boys”

Right now, all I want is an opinion, advice, or just someone to read this and have their say!! I (18f) had been clean from sh for over five months. Im in a relationship with my boyfriend (26m) who has also sh in the past. After a confronting couple of weeks and I horrid day at work, I relapsed the other night and I’m in a new relationship with a man that I am falling for HARD and as far as I’m aware, he is too. We have had a relatively fast moving relationship and both have several kinds of trauma that affect us in different ways. (My trauma is still very relevant in my life) We have similar interests, similar goals in life and a similar sense of humour. We have fantastic chemistry and an amazing sex life; he respects me, is patient with me and has done many things to prove to me at this point in our relationship that he is not just fucking around and is very serious about me. He ticks so many more boxes but you get the point…
I had a couple of hours worth of a panic attack this night and after trying to go out and nobody reciprocating my attention, I turned my focus onto the fact that my boyfriend had not contacted me for quite some hours before and after he knew I had finished work and wanted to see him that night. I ended up contacting him after noticing his snap score go up while I was left on opened and told him I had messed up (because I did royally, on myself) and after a long conversation over the phone right after I relapsed, he told me he was coming over tonight to see me, cook for me, cuddle me, and make sure I was okay… He has been acting off and not messaging me the same all day, and after letting him know that I had finished work today and was about to pick him up, he let me know that he was going out drinking with the boys at his football club instead. I felt/feel shattered! How could he be okay doing this, how am I not a priority, how could he think this would help me?! I simply couldn’t believe this almost imperfectly perfect man would pull what I felt/feel to be one of the scummiest things a man could do, specially since I had previously called of a very personally important event to make sure he was okay after having a hard night and struggling emotionally to let me in. Anyway, I made him call me, almost ready to call it off, knowing I deserve better and to be a priority in my partners life; and to kind of sum things up, I explained how much of a choice I felt and how I deserve to be a priority and that I felt even more alone then when I initially relapsed. In response he told me this is how it was going to be if I do this to myself, that he feels heartbroken that I’ve done this to myself again, that it hurt him, made him feel like he wasn’t making me happy, like he wasn’t enough, and that he won’t reinforce me doing it again by giving me the best attention and showering me with affection when I do it. After an emotional conversation where we communicated clearly and calmly, I told him back and forth how devastated and hurt I was and that he was showing me that he didn’t care as much as he claimed, and his actions didn’t match up with his words. He explained to me he was sorry I felt this way and ended up saying how much I mean to him and that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and that he wants to prove that I am the biggest priority in his life, that he has never felt like this for someone and just wants to be able to make friends being in a new town and wants me to have a life as well and reach out to friends. I explained how his actions showed none of that but we got to some sort of conclusion. We came to some sort of peace point in the conversation where he said he was planning on coming over tomorrow night, when I finished work early and didn’t work the next day, and we ended up saying our goodbyes; (me still sulking) I was/am still hurt after not contacting me again all night, but he left the conversation saying the words “I love you” before hanging up the call. he’s never said that before and I was left with my jaw on the floor and didn’t have time to reply. It felt like time stood still and now I’m so confused. We’ve had conversations where he explained how he felt about me, like he is in love but he is almost so scared to say that word because he’s been bruised by it so much in the past and doesn’t want to scare me away by saying it. (I assured him it wouldn’t since I desperately want to say it too) and he just said it. This is a big deal…
I hate texting, he isn’t good at texting and we both have ADHD. Communication when we aren’t together is always stressful for me specially since I have an anxious attachment style and am a chronic over thinker, and he seems to be a bit more avoidant, but when we are together or have a clear understanding in a space or on a situation, it’s golden and he feels like home.
Am I wasting time with a man who doesn’t care about me as much as I care about him? Is this a gaslighting and an emotionally abusive situation? Is he just stringing me along for sex and attention when he gets bored and lonely? Is he just being a bit of a man who needed time to process everything and I should cut him some slack? Or is this the kind of tough love that I need hear, to be able to pull my head out from my ass??
Please, I have no one to go too. If you’ve made it this far, give me something to work with, anything is appreciated at this point…

2023.06.03 12:42 peepingneighbour12 AITA: For letting the dog in the garden when the neighbour is Trespassing

Me and my wife live in a small area with our German Shepherd and try to keep to ourselves. Our relationship with our neighbor Iris is polite but distant. Recently, Iris's son Tom moved in with her. We don't know much about him but exchange greetings when we see him. Trouble started this week.
My wife works from home full-time now due to the pandemic, while I have a hybrid schedule. On Monday, she called me to say that our dog was acting crazy and saw Tom climbing back over our garden fence. She was concerned, but didn't want to create unnecessary trouble, thinking he might be retrieving something for Iris. I agreed to let it go and asked her to inform me if it happened again.
The next day, the same thing occurred. My wife witnessed Tom wandering around our garden, knocking over furniture. I confronted him politely, expressing my concerns. He claimed he was retrieving his cat, but I reminded him that he should have informed us instead of trespassing. He apologized and promised to be more considerate.
The following day was uneventful, with no signs of Tom in our garden. However, the day after that, I moved my car to make it appear as if I wasn't home. As expected, the dog alerted me that someone was in the garden. I caught Tom in the act and lost my temper, warning him of police involvement if he repeated his actions. I also emphasized that our dog could pose a threat if she caught him. Feeling threatened, I decided to purchase some security cameras online (would take a few days to arrive)
Back at the office the next day, my wife informed me that the dog was going crazy again and she spotted Tom in the garden. I instructed her to let the dog out to teach him a lesson. The dog chased Tom out, who shouted abuse at my wife, threatening to report us for having a dangerous dog. My wife defended herself, pointing out his repeated trespassing and lack of evidence. We decided to call the police to document the incidents.
Some friends criticized my approach, fearing for my wife's and dog's safety. They argued that I should have considered the potential dangers. While I understand their concerns, I believe that my dog has the right to be in her own garden. Considering the suspicious behavior of a grown man targeting my wife when I'm not home, I felt justified in taking action. We installed visible security cameras as a deterrent, and I hope he realizes the consequences if he continues his actions.
AITA?

Ramifications of Plato's Cave

I think people have talked a lot about the nature of Plato's Cave and not enough about the ramifications of Plato's Cave.
If we are all stuck in a subjective view of the world, and we become illusioned by ourselves, and we rarely ever want to throw away this illusion (ie pursue enlightenment), what does that say about us?
We don't merely think in terms of narratives. We like narratives. We prefer the cave. We live our lives as though it were a narrative. We probably couldn't even stop this if we wanted to, to a certain extent.
What does it mean when we absorb this? What are we doing for ourselves at the point in time when we start thinking about these topics?
In short, we're unhappy with the narrative. It's literally like waking up from a nightmare. We're scared or upset about the nature of reality, so our goal is to recraft a new narrative that will put us back to sleep. That's the concept of "peace". That's the concept of "non-disturbance", which is something we've been chasing ever since we were born and wished to return to the womb, which was a period of forever sleep and forever peace.
All of the learning in the world starts with wanting to understand the world's parameters, so we can more effectively craft dreams for ourselves, so we can live out the narrative that will make us happy.
Neo in the Matrix is the "hacker" who wants to know deeply about the universe because he is someone who wants to craft the greatest dream of all, for himself and for his love (Trinity). Neo ends up sacrificing himself to save his love, which means he "dies" and so does the ever-present evidence of the Matrix existing (Agent Smith everywhere). This is again proof that he prefers the dream, although he also believes that he will one day overcome all of the ancient, deprecated "code" (memes, genes, traditions, culture, etc) inherent in human individuals and in human society.
This is representative of the mythology around christ consciousness. It is about sacrificing one's self for future reward, which comes in the form of a richer, more pleasurable, and more real story. Perhaps one in which we are all happier, healthier, and more prosperous. This is the summary of the entire mythos around Neo, Jesus, and many other individuals.
I think one of the main reasons old psychedelic aficionados will say "you didn't take enough" if you have a bad trip is that one of the main goals of trips is to remember why you went. Not just "what information are you trying to extract" from this trip, with altered consciousness, but why do you need this info? What are you really doing with your life?

Traumatic rituals

Another implication from this...
What is the purpose of traumatic rituals, perhaps some we might call satanic?
If we induce fear in someone, we can get them to keep waking up (not just in terms of sleep, but in terms of consciousness), and when they do that, they have a chance to advance themselves. It's totally abused though, and they aren't trying to create enlightened individuals so much as highly trained tools who can do things that ordinary sleepwalkers couldn't.

Sex Magick

This is related to operant conditioning. basically, the reward centers are so activated from sexual activity (or even masturbation) that it helps get you to agree and purify yourself before an idea.
Sexual activity puts you in a very suggestible and controllable state. If someone else is providing you with the sex and ideas at the same time, they can control you with this process. That being said, you can use sex to actually meditate and change your own mind as well, but this would not be broadly taught due to the inherent risk in doing so (only works as well as the individual makes good choices during it).
As I will get into later, the idea that thoughts and ideas are like lives, so the "lives" which learn to desire and crave sexuality find themselves to have complete and utter control over your body at times. The only way to cure such an addiction is to go around and exterminate these lives. It's not just about deciding to do it, nor is it about living in the vain belief you even do decide on a moment to moment basis what you do. You actually have to consciously do work to kill those devils. Also for this reason, sex magick is not widely taught.

Curiosity

There is this concept of simply "noticing the birds". Jesus was even quoted saying something along the lines of "make sure to smell the flowers".
Why though? We usually decipher this as just "enjoy your life" and don't think more about it. I have an alternative explanation.
Acts such as this are what keep you awake. They retain your consciousness. By continuing to be curious, your mind stays alive. And furthermore, it is the healthier alternative compared fear, which I said would keep you awake in a more nightmare-like state.

Waking up

As I said, we are all living out narratives. The question is, who is the narrator and the story planner? In a healthy, conscious adult, you are your own god. You are your own narrator and story planner. What does the entertainment/education/media complex attempt to do? It wishes to subvert your narrator and story planning, so that it is now in control, and you are merely observing something outside of yourself. This is mind control. Now, consciousness is always observing something, since it has a rather passive role in cognition, but the point is that it's no longer observing internal processes so much as an external "man behind the curtain", representative of all of entertainment/education/media available today. We do have a name for this complex. We call it "The Cathedral".
While it's certainly true that entertaining content has a market value, it's absolutely crucial for you to understand that The Cathedral is not an organic institution made up of profit seekers. The Cathedral is an ideological organization that is not concerned with making money. Why? The Cathedral is ran by the people who already own half the world. They run finance. They are the bankers. The purpose of the Cathedral is not to make profit, but to ensure their primary modes of business continue to profit them. It is disinformation. Yes, there are subcontractors who seek profit in the Cathedral complex, but these are not the people who run the system.
There are a ton of avenues for exploring this. We could talk about how old oil money was the primary means by which radio as a medium was researched in the early 1900s (The Radio Project, funded by Rockefellers). We could talk about how identity politics scarcely existed just 10-15 years ago, and when the Occupy Wall Street movement started gaining momentum, suddenly identity politics existed as a distraction from anything those nasty Wall St executives and their lackeys were doing. People seem to get angry because they think Disney is attempting to create a profit from selling the new Mermaid to a wider range of audiences than before, but they should be even more angry if they realize Disney ultimately doesn't care about making money from Mermaid. They simply are doing what they are told, to drum up conflict and loss of social cohesion, so that the real powerbrokers can operate unimpeded.
Yes, it is about money, but not necessary movie money. Not necessarily tech bro money either. Even Facebook showed up at the exact time that DARPA was shutting down an exploratory project called LifeLog that did the exact same thing. Did Zuckerberg "magically" pull himself up by his bootstraps, or was he connected like Bill Gates was connected, whose father was powerful in the intelligence community and who was a member of the early equivalent of the WEF dating back to the 1960s? Microsoft was a ploy for the government to have a backdoor into all computer systems. Facebook was a ploy for the government to have a backdoor into everyone's social lives. Google has become a ploy to control all searches (I have not found evidence to suggest it began this way though — not to say it doesn't exist).
You might ask yourself... Does it feel like something is missing in your life? Would you call it "meaning" or "spirit"? Is it possible you have lost communication with the center of yourself which has the answers for meaning and the feeling of spirit? And could this lost communication be due to the Cathedral's attacks on your mind?
The problem isn't necessarily waking up / not waking up. This is a false dichotomy. Simply change what you are dreaming about.
However, "waking up" could be considered an honorable task, since you are in effect becoming the lightbearer for everyone else. For that path, the most important thing to realize is that there are different reasons to wake up. It's really just like dreaming. You could wake up from a nightmare, or you could stay up all night out of curiosity for a thing that you just can't put down. "Waking up" out of fear isn't very productive (except insofar as you change your dreams, per my first point), but waking up out of curiosity and creativity is... simply world-changing.
Is that why they're banning books in Florida?
Which books are they banning? Those that serve curiosity, creativity, intelligence, and growth as a human being, or those that serve darker forces such as perverse sexuality?
People are equipped with limited options to fight the tyranny of the Cathedral. Book banning is a last ditch effort to stop the mind control put upon us.
Even if you don’t believe in conspiracy….. his words ring very very true
This is an interesting, albeit naive, place to be. You blame all bad things on the nature of people, rather than the actions of people.

Free Will

If we consider that language is composed of symbols, which indicate concepts, and that concepts seem to always be a compressed version of something that's beyond the logical mind's ordinary ability to work with, then it follows that free will is just such a symbol.
Further, our conceptual mind apparently gives all concepts their meaning by way of relating them to opposite symbols — e.g. free will has no conceptual usefulness in the absence of the concept of "fate" or "destiny", etc. I propose that neither free will nor destiny exist as anything other than concepts which aren't mapping the situation realistically.
Specifically they are symbols, and "we" exist within those symbols so long as there is an automatic assumption that if neither exists, something must take their place. If you tell someone they have free will, you automatically introduce the concept of destiny, and vice versa. If you tell someone who doesn't know themselves that they have free will, exactly who have you granted such "freedom" to?
All of these symbols are like "lives" themselves, and as long as they exist within us, they live and state their cases to be known. When you fully decide against something, you kill it within yourself. You kill the idea, which ends its life at least with you.
Consciousness isn't so much about "thinking" as it is deciding which lives to keep and which to kill. You're choosing which symbols to associate with. You're choosing which subconscious processes to follow.
That is perhaps the function of the thing we call free will. So in that sense, it's not so much that it is free will vs destiny, but it is this tiered concept of cognition. There are the "lives" existing within you, then there is the "god" who allows them to live or die.
This also frames the idea of destiny, which you might say is the assumption of a "life" within you existing forever. In other words, would it even be "your" destiny if parts of yourself could literally be created and destroyed? Perhaps we are like the ship of theseus in more ways than we realize. It's not even so much about destiny as it is the idea of object permanence or realism in the first place.
This description of symbols living within us is the concept of the noosphere, by the way. It's a "sphere" similar to a biosphere or ecosphere, which exists on top of conscious beings. There is our body (the hardware), then there is "the spirit" or whatever you want to call the "immaterial" (technically electrons are material but very hard to measure in large structures) resting on top of it, and the collection of all of these immaterial beings exist in the noosphere.

"Hey! Be careful with that fire!" the old merc shouted while taking cover. "Rick, you are boring… you know I can heal you back up, right?" the younger merc in the middle of the hallway answered. Rick just muttered, "Without becoming a giant tumor? Damn Magicians…" "We have a medical station on board, and you know it.", the young one snickered. With a scoff, the senior returned to kill the intruders.
The two Private Security Contractors were doing their job of guarding the cargo bay of the CLF Vessel. Xenith pirates boarded the ship after a lucky hit to the engine. While Joshua threw small fireballs, Rick struck down any eager Xenith with his repeating gauss rifle. Then a faint stomping sound could be heard from afar. Rick cried out to the magician, "Joshua! Watch out!" The devil has just arrived at the end of the Hallway. "I have… OH FUCK!" The bioengineered beast sprinted through the long hallway. Its 5 claws leave marks on the composite floor plating. The unnatural scream of the abomination even drowned out the kinetic fire of the now desperate Rick. "Rick! I need a grenade! Now!" Joshua just ordered him. "No! You can't do that!" screamed the man back. Now angrier than everything else, Joshua coldly threatened Rick, "Right now." With no hesitation, the older merc just threw the grenade at the Magician. While flying through the air, the grenade disintegrated into a fine mist, while making its way to Joshua's hand. Even in a stressful situation like this, he knew he could turn this primitive weapon into a deadly piece of art. He just hoped it wouldn't destroy any important part of the ship. After a couple of seconds of strange movement of the mist, he was ready. The magician laid out his trump card. The ball of death whirled down the hallway. Before it made contact with the malformed beast, the Bulkhead was closed violently, the metal of the door warped under the stress, but it was sealed shut. The mercs felt the explosion, then heard fading screaming. Then the lights cut out. Rick was now standing, illuminated by the red shimmer of the backup lights, helmet in his hands, quietly muttering. Joshua asked, "What are you doing, old man?" "Making peace with my gods, you should do the same.", the old merc answered quietly.
The two were entombed in a now-dead ship. After some months of searching, the ship was cataloged as MIA, the precious cargo safe but lost in space.

Ramifications of Plato's Cave

I think people have talked a lot about the nature of Plato's Cave and not enough about the ramifications of Plato's Cave.

2023.06.03 12:38 dannymacauthor My Dog is a Karen – Ginger’s Rant

Our dog of ten years old has begun to show her age. This sweet overly energetic pup has had the years piled on top of each other, and now her nature now exudes grumpy, entitled, and demanding. With this in mind, I agreed to write her karen complaints for you in the June issue, her story:
Confusion has taken over the old man called Dad. This past week he asked me, “Who put the bee in your bonnet?”
First of all, I don’t wear a bonnet. I sport a fashionable bandana to bring out the natural beauty of my red coat of royalty and superiority. He is so dumb; he can’t tell the difference between a bonnet and a bandana. Then he totally forgot in his ancient age that I eat bees for a snack. Where flies make good raisins, bees make an excellent spicy snack with a sting to it.
His biggest omission in common sense occurred last week when Mom was out weeding. Naturally, I helped her by offering a helping paw and chasing the bees away. Mom said there were no bees but that only shows how good of a dog I am.
My biggest reason for insisting upon helping wasn’t my glorious supervision ability, but my eye for danger in the neighborhood. Being the ultimate watchdog, I kept a vigil for any dangers entering our surroundings. All was quiet until the most malicious of evils beeped into the neighbor's drive in the form of a large brown truck.
Any guard dog worth their salt knows these trucks are the worse bringing unknown boxes of revolting disgust known to the dog world. I give a warning bark to scare the intruder away and the truck stopped backing up. Another howl of my fierce aggression to protect my mother, and dad exits the house to force me against my will back into the house. This pitiful, unassuming, and ignorant excuse for a man has the nerve to yell at me for doing his job of protecting my family from the unspecified horrors of the brown truck.

2023.06.03 12:37 BackgroundBack9246 What do I do?

First off I would like to say I’m not trying to let people know who I am or give any of my personal life out. Which is why I made this fake account. But I do need advice for my situation. For some back story, when I was in middle school there was this new girl. We’ll call her Anne. I really like Anne but I was too scared to go up and talk to her. Throughout the entirety of middle school we never talked to each other, mainly because we were in different classes and my anxiety was holding me back. Then Covid happened and I thought I never see her. Then too my surprise when I was on online school for my freshman year of high school. She’s in 2 of my classes, and I was kinda happy about it. Then come sophomore year and by a mutual friend we got to know each other better. She considered me as a close and trusted friend and I was very pleased about it. I liked her but I didn’t want to ask her out cause for 1 anxiety and also due to the fact I just wanted to get to know her better. So for a while we’ve been friends and people at school thought we dated, on the outside I just said we were just friends and just laughed it off. But on the inside it was making feel good and a little happy. From my knowledge she wasn’t interested in dating and I was fine with it. But I can understand why people thought we were. Because I was so nice to her, if I had a money I can spend I would always give her snickers her favorite candy. And on Christmas I gave her ferrero rocher and Coke her favorite soda. And she even asked if I would buy her a shirt off of Amazon. I had a $50Amazon gift card for Christmas and I never used it so I figured we not. It was $20. She was very appreciative of the gifts I gave her and she felt guilty that I always gave her stuff and she didn’t. But I told her not to worry about. It was fine. But when it was my birthday she gave me a homemade birthday card inside of it, it was an Aki sticker. Aki is a character from her favorite anime called Chainsaw Man. A note saying happy birthday and thanks for being a good person. And the $20. I never spend the $20 cause I thought it so thoughtful and I still love the card to this day. I hid the note in my room so no one will find it and open it, or steal the $20 and I can still see it when I want to. So a little summary of Anne’s character, she’s the shy quiet girl in school. But her personality is that she’s weird and nervous. I don’t want to tell everyone about who she is but just to summarize everything. She’s just spends a lot of time on the internet and seen weird things that I’m honestly surprised that she knows these things. But I can’t judge because I’ve seen weird stuff too. And that’s mainly why she considers me as a close friend because I get her sense of humor and she doesn’t have to be afraid of being weird next to me. And just to make something clear she has other friends who she talks to, but it feels as though she’s more comfortable letting her weird humor out on me more than them. And I don’t have a problem with it. But the problem lays in to her not doing much back for me. I ask her to do something once, to get me charger back from some kid she was in class with. But she was too scared to go up and talk to him. The kid wasn’t intimidating at all as he’s just hyper and listen to a lot of drill music. I’m positive he’ll give her the charger if she asked him. But I get it she has anxiety. But on the other hand I was like, it’s not that hard to talk to him. I think the issue is that I try and be too nice with people to get them on their good side and I try not get people annoyed with me. Please read the comments for the rest of the post.

2023.06.03 12:35 WhatTislifeMeh I shat my pants today

I am incredibly embarrassed that at my age mid twenties, could shat my pants. I am currently at a camping site and was trying to sleep in the car after having a nice get together with my mom and her bf’s fam when I felt some pinch in my stomach. I thought it was some trapped gas and thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until the second fart I needed to go cuz I felt my stomach hurting.
I tried to walk fast towards the washroom and uh unfortunately couldn’t make it. Had to throw away my comfy pj pants and now just incredibly embarrassed about it. I got to the washroom and got clean with no witnesses so that was a plus. But man, didn’t think this would happen at all and am now worried about my digestive issues.
Hope I never get a repeat of this at all.
That’s it, sorry for the long rant. Just in a bit of a shock.

2023.06.03 12:35 JoshAsdvgi The King Bird

The King Bird

The King Bird

The King Bird is the chief of the lower birds-those birds who live nearer the earth.
Once there was a Ho-chunk village and the chief of that village had two sons and a daughter. At one point, the elder son disgraced himself.
The chief was upset and ashamed, and sewed his son into a bearskin and threw him into the Wisconsin River.
As he drifted in the river and sank, a Water Spirit rescued him and adopted him.
The village broke camp and moved away, but the chief's younger son stayed behind under a protruding bank of the river after everyone had gone.
The bank caved in on him, but he managed to free himself and walk back to the village. When he got there, all of his people had gone away and he did not know where to follow them.
The King Bird had taken over the area of the abandoned village.
He turned himself into an old woman and was building a lodge out of material left from the old lodges.
When the young man returned, the King Bird-in his disguise as an old woman-greeted the young man by calling him grandson.
They stayed and lived together in the old village.
When the young man grew older, the grandmother told him to fast.
He did so, and was blessed with the knowledge of hearing and understanding the language of the spirits.
One day he heard the spirits say that there was to be a great council of all the spirits.
He asked his grandmother if he could go, but she said no.
He kept asking her, but she never gave her permission.
One day, he heard the spirits talking about a contest for the chieftainship of all the spirits. As he was crossing a stream by walking on a log, he heard someone sing,
"Pull me out and you may be the chief."
The song was repeated four times.
He hurried home and asked his grandmother to make him a fish net.
She made one out of basswood fiber, but it was not strong enough.
Then she made one out of nettle fiber, but that was also too weak.
She kept on trying one thing and another until finally they had a net that was strong enough.
Then they went to the river and fished out the thing which had been singing there and it was the young man's elder brother, who had been adopted by the Water Spirit and turned into a fish from his waist down.
Since he was part fish, the older brother kept asking them to throw him back into the river. They kept giving him water but he continued to ask him to throw him back in the river. Instead, they carried him back to their lodge, but he died before they got back.
The old woman and the young man had prepared a sweat bath lodge to heal the elder brother.
The stone was heated and ready; so they put his body into the lodge anyway and gave him a sweat bath, which brought him back to life.
The elder brother then was blessed with power to hunt and kill all kinds of game.
He kept his promise to the young man and made him chief of all the spirits.
When he became chief, he immediately turned into a King Bird.

2023.06.03 12:33 JoshAsdvgi THE JOURNEY TO THE SUNRISE

THE JOURNEY TO THE SUNRISE

THE JOURNEY TO THE SUNRISE
A Cherokee Legend

A long time ago several young men made up their minds to find the place where the Sun lives and see what the Sun is like.
They got ready their bows and arrows, their parched corn and extra moccasins, and started out toward the east.
At first they met tribes they knew, then they came to tribes they had only heard about, and at last to others of which they had never heard.
There was a tribe of root eaters and another of acorn eaters, with great piles of acorn shells near their houses.
In one tribe they found a sick man dying, and were told it was the custom there when a man died to bury his wife in the same grave with him.
They waited until he was dead, when they saw his friends lower the body into a great pit, so deep and dark that from the top they could not see the bottom.
Then a rope was tied around the woman's body, together with a bundle of pine knots, a lighted pine knot was put into her hand, and she was lowered into the pit to die there in the darkness after the last pine knot was burned.
The young men traveled on until they came at last to the sunrise place where the sky reaches down to the ground. They found that the sky was an arch or vault of solid rock hung above the Earth and was always swinging up and down, so that when it went up there was an open place like a door between the sky and ground, and when it swung back the door was shut.
The Sun came out of this door from the East and climbed along on the inside of the arch.
It had a human figure, but was too bright for them to see clearly and too hot to come very near.
They waited until the Sun had come out and then tried to get through while the door was still open, but just as the first one was in the doorway the rock came down and crushed him.
The other six were afraid to try it, and as they were now at the end of the world they turned around and started back again, but they had traveled so far that they were old men when they reached home.

2023.06.03 12:32 JoshAsdvgi The Jaguar Princess

The Jaguar Princess

The Jaguar Princess
[Lencas, Latin America]
This is a tale the old folks tellamong the Lenca Indians of Latin America.

Many, many years ago a noble princess came to the Lencas from far away.
Her arrival marked a turning point in their history, and they called her Comizahual, or "Flying Jaguar", after the might jaguar which is so much feared and respected among the Lencas.
Comizahual was a woman of great dignitiy and extraordinary beauty.
Her people adored her, and they were happy to obey her, for she was a natural leader.
She was a sorceress, and worked wonders with her magic arts.
She was different from the women of the Lencas and other Indian tribes in all sorts of ways; but the strangest thing of all was the whiteness of herr skin.
When she first appeared in the land of the Lencas, she travelled far and wide.
Followers flocked to her banner.
Then she built a palace in Cealcoquin, the loveliest and most fertile part of the land, and began to rule.
She was a strict ruler, with many servants and soldiers, but anyone could appeal to her if they felt they had been treated unjustly.
For some time there were still tribes holding out against her, but Comizahual led her troops in battle and defeated them, so that they too became part of her empire.
Comizahual's magic powers made her all the stronger.
One day she rose into the sky and disappeared for many hours.
When she came back she was carrying a rock with three outcrops that looked like faces, a magic talisman that put her enemies completely in her power.
THere were rocks with faces all over Cealcoquin, some like people and others like animals, many of them pumas.
Pilgrims came from far away to pray to them, and the most revered of all were the puma heads.
Comizahual never married, but she had three sons, bearded men who loved her dearly and held positions of great power among the Lencas.
They had skins of white like Comizahual, and some say that they were her brothers, not her sons.
Many years passed, and the Jaguar Princess grew old and weak.
In the end she fell sick, and people feared that she would die.
She still issued orders from her bed, but she no longer could get up and walk.
At last she felt death draw near, and called her sons and loyal chieftans to her.
Sadly they all gathered round.
"Soon I must leave you," she told them. "
My sons shall govern my realm between them.
Their rule shall be strict, but fair, and my people shall obey them as they obeyed me.
Do not quarrel, my sons.
For you can preserve your kingdom and protect your subjects only as long as you live together in harmony.
You must neither give unjust orders, nor tolerate injustice in others.
Help the poor, my sons, and make my country rich and strong."
Her sons could not bear to think of losing their mother.
"Stay with us, mother," pleaded the eldest, stepping forward.
"Our people need you."
"No, my son," replied Comizahual, gently but firmly.
My time on the Earth is over.
Fate wills it so.
Here, take my crown, and carry me into the streets so that I can take leave of my people.
The servants raised the bed and carried it outside.
When the people saw their Jaguar Princess, they rushed out and surrounded her, weeping and asking her blessing.
Suddenly a bold of lightning split the sky, and the air shook with thunder.
Everyone threw themselves on the ground.
And at that moment Comizahual vanished, and a bird with colours like the rainbow blew up into the sky.
"She has turned into a bird and gone to heaven," cried the Lencas, full of fear and awe.
Even since then the Lenca Indians have worshipped Comizahual as a goddess,
and every year they hold a great festival in honour of their Jaguar Princess.

2023.06.03 12:31 JoshAsdvgi The Invisible One

The Invisible One

The Invisible One
Micmac
There was once a large Indian village situated on the border of a lake, --Nameskeek' oodun Kuspemku.
At the end of the place was a lodge, in which dwelt a being who was always invisible.
He had a sister who attended to his wants, and it was known that any girl who could see him might marry him.
Therefore there were indeed few who did not make the trial, but it was long ere one succeeded.
And it passed in this wise.
Towards evening, when the Invisible One was supposed to be returning home, his sister would walk with any girls who came down to the shore of the lake.
She indeed could see her brother, since to her he was always visible, and beholding him she would say to her companions, "Do you see my brother?"
And they would mostly answer, "Yes," though some said, "Nay," -- alt telovejich, aa alttelooejik.
And then the sister would say, "Cogoowa' wiskobooksich?" "Of what is his shoulder-strap made?"
But as some tell the take, she would inquire other things, such as, "What is his moose-runner's haul?" or, "With what does he draw his sled?"
And they would reply, "A strip of rawhide," or "A green withe," or something of the kind. And then she, knowing they had not told the truth, would reply quietly, "Very well, let us return to the wigwam!"
As they entered the place she would bid them not to take a certain seat, for it was his.
After they had helped to cook the supper they would wait with great curiosity to see him eat.
Truly he gave proff that he was a real person, for as he took off his moccasins they became visible, and his sister hung them up; but beyond this they beheld nothing not even when they remained all night, as many did.
There dwelt in the village an old man, a widower, with three daughters.
The youngest of these was very small, weak, and often ill, which did not prevent her sisters, especially the eldest, treating her with great cruelty.
The second daughter was kinder , ans sometimes took the part of the poor abused little girl, but the other would burn her hands and face with hot coals; yes, her whole body was scarred with marks made by torture, so that people called her OOchigeaskw (the rough-faced girl).
And when her father, coming home, asked what it meant that the child was so disfigured, her sister would promptly say that it was the fault of the girl herself, for that, having been forbidden to go near the fire, she had disobeyed and fallen in.
Now it came to pass that it entered the heads of the the two elder sisters of this poor girl that they would go and try their fortune at seeing the Invisible One.
So they clad themselves in their finest and strove to look their fairest; and finding his sister at home when with her to the wonted walk down to the water.
Then when He came, being asked if they saw him, they said, "Certainly," and also replied to the question of the shoulder-strap or sled cord, "A piece of rawhide."
In saying which, they lied, like the rest, for they had seen nothing, and got nothing for their pains.
When their father returned home the next evening, he brought with him many of the pretty little shells from which weiopeskool, or wampum, was made, and they were soon engaged napawejik (stringing them).
That day poor little OOchigeaskw', the burnt-faced gir, who had always run barefoot, got a pair of her father's old moccasins, and put them into water that they might become flexible to wear.
And begging her sissters for a few wampum shells, the eldest did but call her "a lying little pest," but the other gave her a few.
And having no clothes beyond a few pawltry rags, the poor creature went forth and got herself from the woods a few sheets of birch bark, of which she made a dress, putting some figures on the bark.
And this dress she shaped like those worn of old.
So she made a petticoat and a loose gown, a cap, leggins, and handkerchief, and, having put on her father's great old moccasins,--whcih came nearly up to her knees,--she went forth to try her luck.
For even this little thing would see the Invisible One in the great wigwam at the end of the village.
Truly her luck had a most auspicious beginning, for there was one long storm of ridicule and hisses, yells and hoots, from her own door to that of which she went ot seek.
Her sisters tried to shame her, and bade her to stay home, but she would not obey; and all the idlers, seeing this strange little creature in her odd array, cried, "Shame!"
But she went on, for she was greatly resolved; it may be that some spirit inspired her.
Now this poor small wretch in her mad attire, with her hair singed off and her little face as full of burns and scars as there are holes in a sieve, was, for all this, mostly kindly received by the sister of the Invisible One; for this noble girl knew more than the mere outside of thins as the world knows them.
And as the brown of the evening sky became black, she took her down to the lake.
And erelong the girls knew that He had come. Then the sister said, "Do you see him?"
And the other replied in awe, "Truly I do, --and He is wonderful." "And what is his sled string?" "It is," she replied, "the Rainbow."
And great fear was on her. "But, my sister," said the other, "what is his bow-string?" "His bow-string is Ketaksoowowcht: (the Spirit's Road, the Milky Way).
"Thou hast seen him, said the sister.
And, taking the girl home, she bathed her, and as she washed all the scars disappeared from face and body.
Her hair grew again; it was very long, and like a blackbird's wing.
Her eyes were like stars.
In all the world was no such beauty.
Then from her treasures she gave her a wedding garment, and adorned her.
Under the comb, as she combed her, her hair grew. It was a great marvel to behold.
Then, having done this, she bade her take the wife's seat in the wigwam,--that by which her brother sat, the seat next the door.
And when He entered, terrible and beautiful, he smiled and said, "Wajoolkoos!" "So we are found out!" "Alajulaa." "Yes," was her reply. So she became his wife.

2023.06.03 12:30 Baron_Deathtrap1217 [FN] Era Vulgaris

A story I wrote a while back. (To put it more accurately, a year ago.) Submitted it for the college Magazine, and recently uploaded it to Wattpad. But it didn't do much. So I decided to just put it on here. Any kind of feedback would be appreciated.
Being the idiot I am, I'm not sure what genre to place it in. But I'd say it's an action - drama in a somewhat fantastical setting.
The Blurb is as follows:
"Undera night sky lit by two moons, a Witch loses her family, and begins to succumb to the dark, violent side of her powers - Bloodlust.
During this desparate struggle, she comes across a Bishop - a soldier of this city, whose sole purpose is to kill her kind.
Who is this Bishop? Will the Witch survive? And who am I, the being who wants to share this story with you??"
And here's the full story. I hope you enjoy.
Oh, what a beautiful night.
The two moons in an elaborate dance, one in the arms of the other as they glow amidst the darkness. Wouldn't it be a heartbreak, for the king to abandon his queen at the brink of dawn, leaving her alone and defenseless?
Of course, my king already had. Even worse, he might've even let the hunters on my tail. Just the thought sent shudders through my spine. My dear melancholy, I thought, you won't be here for long. "I've cried with you far too long. Perhaps I should send you with my lover, let his blood wrap around you while you sleep. Perhaps I should let his cries wash away all that you weep."
I wanted answers. But, a deeper, more primal part of me needed revenge. But if I wanted either, I needed to act fast. I was being hunted. The people of this world, they call us witches. They call us the spawn of the devil, to be hunted and burned alive. I know this isn't true, I remember my parents' faces as clear as day. Damn it, I wish I just had a normal life. I wanted peace, quiet. I wanted a happy life with my husband.
"You are desecrated by the demon himself!"
"Get out of my sight! Begone!"
The memory of Anton's words, curled in utter disgust.... They hurt. Once, long before this, I could almost see the smile on his face, taste the uninhibited love in his gaze, feel the steady warmth of his embrace...... And now... Why? Why, you.......... Why?
The question turned into a haunting melody, trying to tear its way through my skull with a violent cacophony, only to fade into a whisper drumming in sync with my footsteps, as I tracked him down through the shadows. Was he the answer?
Or just prey? A rat to devour?
That thought worried me. No, I-I didn't want to hurt Anton, but.... But he had done the same, was still doing the same. The streets were quiet, the houses all around closed shut. No doubt, there were hunters, the Bishops, tracking me down. But I had become accustomed to sneaking around without leaving a trace.
I wished, sometimes I could be one of those lucky women hiding in those houses, with nothing to fear but the outside. They could just stay in their homes and live the lives they wanted.
But, the increasingly manic voice from within spoke, you had that. For a while. How long did it even last, until he kicked you out and left you for dead?
My footsteps quickened seemingly running towards my prey. Or maybe, away from whispers that were becoming hard to deny. And then, I found him. Right there, in the darkness, all alone.
Ready to speak.
Or to die.
And all of a sudden, I felt my knife slide home. Blood, sweet and magnificent, rose in the air. Every cell in my body rose towards it, parched for a taste.
Just a taste.
I stumbled under the ferocity of the thirst, my will pushed to its limit to keep it under control. His life was fading out.
I had to... I had to look him in the eye. I turned him around, and it wasn't him. It wasn't him.
Oh god, it wasn't him.
It wasn't him it wasn't him it wasn't----------
"Ophelia, what the heck have you become?"
I slowly turned towards the source of the sound, knowing the horror on his face I'd be forced to see. There it was, but somewhere in the miasma of repulsive emotions.... Was it concern? Did my dear Anton still care? Did he still... still love?
Something fell on my thigh, soft, and warm, disappearing seeping through my dirtied clothes the moment it touched. And it was then I realized - it was blood. It was all over me, across my lips, on my hands, seeping into my fingernails. It was overwhelming me, wrenching sense and sanity away. Was it too late? Was I past the point of no retu------
The next moment, I realize I'm.... falling. Further and further, but I can't find the floor. I can't feel my legs, my arms, my mouth. It's as if every part of me except my soul has disintegrated, vanished into thin air. I look around me. There are so many like me. Witches, humans, the faceless, the feral. The victim and the criminal. They are all the same. WE are one and the same. I don't feel my consciousness fading away, but rather.... It bleeds, it swims around like a drop in an ocean, a single grain of pollen among thousand others flying away. It's coming all together now, fusing and joining and mixing with the others, and into the will of one great being. It's like..... Like the God accepting us into His womb, letting us be a part of His plan, and giving us one last gift- vision, His vision, to see the world as it really is............. And the ones we left behind in this world.
The process seems so painful - I can feel emotions that aren't my own, emanating from within me, while my own emotions are scattered over this pool of collective consciousness. It swirls and splashes around, slowly moving towards a source, rather than away. The closer I get, the lesser I remember about myself. I'd be concerned, unhappy even, weren't it not for the fact that along with myself, I could also feel myself forgetting the world I had lived in like an insect, while I dance around in the memories of others. It's all mine, and what's mine is also others'. There isn't an "I" anymore. There's just...... An ocean. An ocean of serenity. A desert, devoid of pain and suffering. An oasis of peace.
Just......Anton. Look after him, my Savior. And my----------------------
-Era Vulgaris-
Ah...... Another dead one coalescing into me. A woman, full of hopes and dreams soaked and squandered away by sorrow and hatred and envy. Don't fret, little one. You can rest now. Be in peace with yourself, and this broken world. Now, where were we? Ah, the woman finally lost it.
Her self-consciousness faded away the very moment that drop of blood dripped onto her tongue. What was left, was a husk of its former self, hungry for blood and power. I hated watching this, though I'd seen this a million times over. Even the part of me that was once that poor girl was undoubtedly horrified at what she'd become. It's okay, it's okay. It'll work out in the end. Trust me. Your loved ones shall come out whole from the other side.
Especially, I thought, if the Bishop beside him is truly who I think he is.
The word "Bishop" brought a bit of warranted concern to the residual piece of the girl, which meant I had to spend some more of my energy and attention to calm her down. So, I thought. Where were we?
The husk of the woman lunged for her former lover, only to be denied her prey by a sudden tackle to the ground. The assailant swiftly rolled out of harm's way, spinning around and aiming a rather large revolver right at her head.
"Freeze. Or the bullet goes in your head."
She didn't respond in kind. Instead, she... It. It, reminded the small voice that was once part of her, now just in pure disbelief at what she was looking at. It looked him dead in the eye, wailed its vocal cords out and slit its own arm, letting the blood spurt open all around her. The dead carcass beside her became her fuel, swimming towards and into heIt, as its own blood slowly morphed into clones of its own. All contorted and manic, just like the original. All at once, they converged right at the hunter, eager to churn out the flesh. One sneaky little figure, however, sneaked right out of sight and right towards its/ her husband.
Yeah, it was her husband alright. All these bright little memories sparkling from within the dark, right up until everything tore apart- Wait. Oh n-
A hailstorm of gunshots shattered the rain of noise that drenched the night. And just like that, almost all the clones were gone, fading into a cloudburst of blood from which they had risen. The husband, Anton, screamed, "The blood- it'll burn!!" But the hunter rushed through regardless, through the blood.
True to his word, the blood began to boil and corrode away all the protective plates and clothing, but the man himself was strangely unaffected. Rather, he became seemingly faster, as he kicked away the witch, the original form out, just a mere fraction of a second before it could rip out Anton's jugular. My heart was in my throat. Or at least, the newly assimilated soul felt that way.
I was more interested to as to how the Bishop appeared to have changed, as if a limiter on himself had been removed by the blood. As if a blind man had finally been given the path towards light.
By the time it could recover, the Bishop held the previous position once again- only this time, aiming at the creature's belly. That, is what I was worried about. The poor woman was pregnant when she lost control. "Now," he said. "Don't move."
The woman's soul suddenly began to wrench its way out towards her body, trying desperately to save its offspring, its child. Its only ray of hope. It took a considerable effort to keep her in control, much more than what I would once require. Well, I thought, all the more reason to let things go as they should.
Anton went to protect the thing that was once his wife, right up until the Bishop changed his aim towards him.
Anton paled, but understood the message. He returned to his previous position, his crosshairs pointed right at the woman's swollen abdomen, and waited for her to react.
She didn't.
She stilled, almost stuck between her primal urge as a creature of blood, and a maternal urge as a creature of warmth.
The hesitation was enough for the hunter to make a decision.
"Rest in peace."
The gun fired.
A single bullet exploded into a hundred smaller shells, penetrating the witch - not at the abdomen, but straight through the head. The man beside him just puked at the gruesome scene, unable to bear not just the brutality, but the heartbreak of it.
The hunter turned towards him. "Put yourself together. Besides, you put her in this situation."
The remark halted Anton from his state of disgust into a fit of near-violent rage.
"What? What the fuck do you know, you lowlife? You're the ones who kill innocent women for just the smallest suspicion of their nature. You fucker! Die in the womb you lived in you-"But, he couldn't hold on to it. Just couldn't.
Anton broke into tears, his guilt, his pain and his loss flowing down his face and falling at the cold ground below him.
It--It wasn't a nice sight to see. He cried, and cried, and cried, sometimes in reminiscence of the small moments that he'd shared with his loved one, sometimes in despair of the things he'd done. He could blame all he could, curse all he could. At the world. At hunters. At God. Even himself, but that would not bring his love back to life. It wouldn't bring his unbor---
A tiny, yet strong innocent wail interrupted his downward spiral.
"Anton. Your child." With that brief phrase, the Bishop laid a fragile infant in his arms. Crying, with hair barely formed, yet Anton could see it- It was her child. Her and his. THEIR child. But......
"IT's- It's a girl. Won't you-"
"Well, I think it would be rude of me not to turn a blind eye your way. I cannot see, after all. Besides, I think this child deserves a chance. For the mother who, in the throes of death, chose her child over revenge. And," he said, patting down the man's shoulder, "the pathetic man who still wanted to save his wife, even if she was no more. Now go. Get the fuck out of here. I gotta pick up the corpse and collect my payment. Oh, and, uh... What happened here, all of it- you don't remember a thing. Got it?"
He didn't need even the slightest of threats. The guy thanked the Bishop and, with the now smiling babe, walked away.
Another figure appeared from behind the hunter.
"Was that a good decision, Navy?"
A Faceless one. Quite devoted to the Bishop. His question held a tone of concern, but a sense of curiosity dominated his voice as he asked his question.
"Grayson," he said, placing his shotgun onto the floor as a walking stick, "I never overthi-"
"Shut up."
A careless shrug. "Alright. You got me. You want me to be honest? I.....see myself, as weird as it sounds. In that child, in that man. Even in the fuckin' witches. I kill them for a living, Gray. I wake up every morning to load a bullet carrying their name."
"You hate them. Simple as that."
"But a really small part of me..... It- I don't know, Gray. Sometimes all I do is say thanks to this stupid world we live in. A world where everyone wants to fall in love but there's no room for it, in the grand scheme of things. You know, it's times like these that make me glad. Better off believing in a dream world of love and peace, rather than knowing this nightmare of an era. An Era Vulgaris, if you will."
Indeed, in this we might just be kindred spirits. Hm... well, there's definitely a potential in him, to become what I need him to be in the future. I just.....
Well, I'll let this run its course.
After all, it depends on whether she can will herself a future worth salvaging. For there was another one spying on the hunter, another witch whose paths would cross with his. And that path would either fall in place like clockwork, or blow up every plan and contingency I'd made into smoke.
Till then, I guess it best to rest. Kick back and watch this Era Vulgaris consume itself in its vanity, and see if something will come out whole the other side. Rest well, Navidson.
And thank you.
Something settled, and that's when I realized the woman's soul had finally accepted its fate, fading into the primordial soup. Broken, scared and all bled out, and yet she put up a hell of a fight.
The human will is quite extraordinary, is it not?

On Some Questions in the Study of the Juche Idea Clarified by Comrade Kim Jong Il

Vice-President Pak Yong Gon of Joson University
With the approach of the 21st century the socialist movement is faced with various problems which require solution, and the road to the independence of mankind is beset by manifold difficulties. Many people in world are seeking new ideas to solve these problems. The Juche idea has been evolved as an idea for carrying out the historic mission of the present era in the protracted struggle to build a new peaceful and independent world free from exploitation and oppression.
The Juche idea is a man-centred world outlook which approaches everithing with the main emphasis placed on man’s position in the world and his creative role in remoulding and developing the world, and a people-centred outlook on social history which clarifies the essence the socio-historical movement and its logical character regarding man, that is, the people as the main agent of social movement. The Juche idea is a collectivist view of life which clarifies the essence and value of the worthy and happy life, regarding the social collective as the parent body of human life.
The Juche idea arouses sympathy among many people and is widely spreading in the world because it is a new idea which places at the centre the people who strive to carve out their destiny, and indicates the way to it. Recently in south Korea the Juche idea has become not only an important ideological trend but also the guiding idea for the reunification of Korea and the democratic movement. Because of its influence in philosophical circles it has become the main trend of the time to make a serious study the Juche idea. (Philosophical Study compiled by the Philosophical Study Society, No. 29, autumn 1991.)
There is still clearly a tendency to fail to have a correct understanding of the relations of the Juche idea to former progressive ideas and their principles because it is a new idea and some questions require detailed explanation.
In view of such a situation this article briefly refers to some questions to be noted for a correct understanding of the Juche idea.
1
The Juche idea was evolved in the process of development of progressive ideas. Hence it should be made clear what development it has made in comparison with the former ideas, what position it holds in the history of ideologies and what practical significance it has.
The quintessence of the Juche idea can be grasped only when one adheres to the basic stand of considering the continuity of the Juche idea with main emphasis placed on the originality in the relations of the Juche idea to Marxism-Leninism.
Comrade Kim Jong Il said:
“First of all, the tendency to explain the merit and originality of the Juche idea from the viewpoint of Marx’s materialistic dialectics should be rectified.”
It is an undeniable fact that with the passage of time social ideologies progress. It is true that some people still tend to consider and interpret the Juche idea from the framework of Marxism-Leninism, holding its scientific accuracy and validity supreme.
As is known, Marxist materialistic dialectics was established on the basis of Feuerbach’s metaphysical materialism and Hegel’s idealistic dialectics. However, no Marxist has tried to interpret Marxist philosophy from the framework of Feuerbach’s or Hegel’s philosophy. Because there is an understanding that materialistic dialectics is entirely new and original although it inherited and developed Feuerbach’s materialism and Hegel’s dialectics. As to the Juche idea, however, there is still a tendency to interpret it from the framework of Marxism-Leninism. It is because of a lack of full understanding of the merit and originality of the Juche idea and of a proper understanding of the historical limitations of Marxism.
The Marxist philosophy made a historic contribution to the refutation d idealism and metaphysics by elucidating the basic principle that the world consists of matter, and that it invariably changes and develops. Proceeding from the understanding that the basic mission of philosophy is to show the way to carving out human destiny, the Juche idea raised it as a fundamental question of philosophy to elucidate the relations of man to the world, in other words, man’s position and role in the world, and established a man-centred philosophical world outlook. This shed a new light on the fundamental question of the former philosophy.
Needless to say, man is matter. However, man is not matter in general but a social being with independence, creativity and consciousness, and the most developed matter. The relation of man to his surrounding world is not the relation of consciousness to matter but the relation of the most developed matter with consciousness to matter without consciousness. It goes without saying that in the interactions between developed matter and matter in the lower stage of development the former holds a higher position and plays a greater role than the latter.
Man with independence, creativity and consciousness is not subjected to the environment but plays a decisive role in remoulding and developing the world, and in hewing out his destiny holding an independent position in the world because he acts on the world surrounding him in an independent, creative and purposeful manner. The Juche-oriented philosophical principle elucidates that through his creative activity man invariably carves out his destiny by his own efforts and enhances his position as the master of the world.
Proceeding from the philosophical principle that man holds the position of master and plays the decisive role in hewing out his destiny, the Juche idea requires that man should adhere to the independent stand and creative method in carving out his destiny. The independent stand and creative method advocated by the Juche idea can be said to be the most scientific and innovative ones which require that the world should not simply be regarded as a changing and developing material world but as one changing and developing to meet man’s independent needs through his creative activity. Unlike this, the fundamental principle of the Marxist philosophy holds that the development of all matter is a process of natural history, as clearly laid down in the foreword to Capital.
This means that it does not differentiate the social movement caused by man’s independent, creative and purposeful activity from me spontaneous movement of nature, and regards social progress as following the laws of change and development of nature.
The Marxist classics maintained that the development of all matter should be grasped as a process of natural history with a view to refuting idealistic views on the development of social history.
In the face of the developing natural sciences in those days, idealists could no longer deny that the natural world changes and develops following objective laws. Proceeding from the fact that social change and development are due to the activities of man with consciousness, they made a mystery of the conscious activity of man and held that objective laws were not the cause of social change and development.
The Marxist classics stressed that social change and progress is an aspect of development of nature, and, consequently, social progress follows objective laws like the development of nature since society is the product of the evolution and development of nature. That was why they focussed their efforts on proving the commonness of nature and social being rather than on the essential difference between nature and social being or on the essential difference in the change and development of nature and society.
The Marxist classics elucidated the general characteristic features of the physical world, the material character of the world and the general law governing its change and development, thereby making a historic contribution to the victory of materialism and dialectics over idealism and metaphysics.
They established a materialistic view of history by applying materialistic dialectics to society, and elucidated the objective laws governing social progress.
Proceeding from the fundamental proposition that social being decides social consciousness, the materialistic view of history held that the productive forces decide the relations of production, which in turn decide the consciousness of people and the political and legal institutions which reflect it. It characterized the essence of the process of historical development as the process of change of the mode of production. The materialistic view of history considered social being as the material condition of social life and that this is what decides the consciousness of people. Hence, it considered man acting purposefully himself as the subjective factor decided by the objective factors.
In contrast, the Juche idea does not regard man only as an isolated being with just a body, but as a social being with social wealth linked to social relations and as the main agent of social movement. As the cause and motive force of social movement lie in man, the main agent of the movement, man, that is, the people play the leading and decisive role in social movement. Although the objective factors are important conditions which influence human activity, they themselves cannot become the main agent which causes and pushes ahead social movement nor factors decisive of the fate of this movement. In this light, the law of the change and development of social movement can be said to be in essence the law of movement of man himself who, although subjected to certain limitations of objective conditions, hews out his destiny in an independent and creative manner. Man creates material wealth through interaction with nature, and forms social relations and social systems through interaction between human beings.
It is true that human activity is subject to limitations depending on the degree of development of material wealth of society and social relations. However, since social wealth and social relations are created by man, the degree of their development is eventually decided by the level of development of man’s independence, creativity and consciousness. It is true that creators and creation are in an inseparable relationship and limit each other, but in approaching everything emphasis should not be placed on the aspect of creation’s determining influence on the creators but on the aspect of the creators’ determining influence on creation.
2
Next, let us examine from the Juche viewpoint the law of unity and struggle of opposites which was recognized as an important methodology in evolving the theory of the materialistic view of history, which constitutes the kernel of materialistic dialectics.
Comrade Kim Jong II said:
“It can be seen from the explanation of the law of unity and struggle of opposites that the Juche philosophy is considered in close relation to Marxist materialistic dialectics.
“Marxist materialistic dialectics makes its major content the principle of unity and struggle of opposites. However, this problem is not a problem to be treated simply from the academic viewpoint alone. Like other theoretical problems of Marxism-Leninism the law of unity and of opposites, too, must be considered historically from the viewpoint of revolutionary practice. Importance was attached to the law of unity and struggle of opposites because philosophical exposition of the socio-economic contradictions and the law governing class struggle in capitalist society in those days was posed as an important historical task. Therefore, the principle of unity and struggle of opposites elucidated by the Marxist philosophy now has many irrational points when it comes to clarifying the law-governed process of development of socialist society, I think.”
Marx’s materialistic dialectics regards the law of unity and struggle of opposites as its main content. Marxist philosophy tries to elucidate all problems with this law. But the question is not one to be considered simply from the academic viewpoint alone. The so-called study of dialectics so far has recognized this law as a universal law applicable irrespective of time and space, and tried to substantiate theoretically why the law of unity and struggle of opposites constitutes the kernel of materialistic dialectics. But only when the law of unity and struggle of opposites is considered historically from the viewpoint of revolutionary practice and not from the purely academic viewpoint like other theoretical problems, can its validity be deepened.
The Marxist classics attached great importance to the law of unity and struggle of opposites because it was posed as an urgent task to give a philosophical exposition of the socio-economic contradictions of capitalist society of those days and the law of class struggle. The Marxist classics held that since all matter has unity of opposites, matter develops through the struggle of opposites in such a way that the old disappears and the new emerges. They tried to prove that the socio-economic contradictions of capitalist society are settled through class struggle by the law of unity and struggle of opposites and, consequently, capitalist society inevitably develops into socialist society. In other words, the law of unity and struggle of opposites served as an important theoretical method for the Marxist classics to prove the inevitability of the ruin of capitalism and the victory of socialism, class struggle and the dictatorship of the proletariat.
Today we are carrying on revolution and construction in historical circumstances different from those of the time when the Marxist classics were active. Therefore, the Marxist philosophical principle concerning the law of unity and struggle of opposites is not applicable to today’s reality.
It is evident that the principle of Marxist dialectics which holds that the inner contradictions of matter are the basic source of the development of matter and struggle is the motive force of development is insufficient for explaining the law-governed process of the development of modern socialist society. Today the source of social process in Korea lies not in inner contradictions but in the ideological unity of the leader, the Party and the masses that strive to effect the independence of the masses of the people. The motive force of social development does not lie in antagonism and struggle but in the might of unity based on comradely cooperation which involves helping and leading each other forward under the leadership of the Party and the leader.
The Juche idea is embodied in the three-point principle of national reunification—independence, peaceful reunification and grand national unity—to which the Korean people consistently adhere. The aim of the struggle for national reunification is to put an end to the division of the nation and recover the independence of the nation. Consequently, the entire Korean people is the main agent. Therefore, whether national reunification can be achieved or not depends upon whether all the national forces can be enlisted for the unity of the nation and reunification or not. If the principle of struggle is applied here to settle contradictions, grand national unity cannot be achieved and antagonism and distrust will be the result.
The historic lessons of the experiences of certain countries show that if the principle of Marxist philosophy on unity and struggle is applied to socialist construction it will not contribute to the unity and cohesion of socialist society but will rather increase contradictions and distrust within society and cause social confusion.
It goes without saying that if antagonistic contradictions exist the basic method of combatting them is class struggle and that the dictatorship of the proletariat is essential for protecting socialist society from the subversive moves of the imperialists. However, in a society in which the people hold power and social ownership is in force the factor of development lies in the ever-increasing independent demand of the people and in the might of unity. For this purpose, the people should be made the genuine masters of society. Therein lies the basic motive force of development of socialist society.
The former view which regarded the law of contradiction as the kernel of dialectics and contradictions as the cause and motive force of social progress was effective in proving the doom of capitalism and the victory of socialist revolution but may be said to be insufficient for demonstrating the law of today’s social progress and in increasing its practical effect. That is why materialistic dialectics has to be reexamined, placing man at centre.
3
The originality of Marx’s philosophical ideas lies in the materialistic view of history. It is theoretically grounded on social being and social consciousness. Therefore, it is very important to have a correct understanding of the problem in order to make a serious study of the Juche idea.
Above all, the question of whether the relations of social being to social consciousness can be interpreted by the general principle of materialism or not should be examined. In other words, the question of whether or not a formulation can be made simply in such a manner that social existence is primary and social consciousness is secondary should be examined.
As is known, the question of whether matter or consciousness is primary is the question of the origin of the world. The question of origin should be considered in the realm of nature. Only then has the question significance for a world outlook. Unlike this, in the realm of society characterized by human activities it is not the question of origin but the reflection theory that has philosophical significance.
It is evident that human consciousness reflects social being. However, there are no grounds for saying that social existence gives rise to social consciousness. In that case consciousness always has to follow the development of matter. However, reality shows that new things are created by the consciousness of people, and they are always used intentionally.
Secondly, understanding of social being, particularly the question of how to approach the position of ideas should be examined.
Former theories treated the concept of social being by setting against consciousness, in order to apply materialism to the realm of society. This can be seen from the fact that almost all the passages treating of this problem in the works of Marx and Engels invariably use the set phrases “social existence” and “consciousness”.
But the Juche idea puts forward the concept of social existence in relation to natural existence. This viewpoint deduces the original concept of social organism and brings the independent character of social law into bold relief.
Thirdly, it concerns the question of considering social existence, placing man at the centre.
Comrade Kim Jong Il said:
“Some articles which try to explain the Juche idea say that social wealth, too, belongs to social being. It is an erroneous view that regards man and the social wealth he has created as equal.”
The viewpoint advocating the material character of society poses the question of whether it is social existence or consciousness which is more important and, consequently, the methodology of distinguishing society by either material or ideological relations has been established. According to Lenin, this methodology is so important that it can be said to be the basic idea behind the materialistic view of history.
But by this methodology the view of social history cannot be developed into a man-centred view of history.
In order to embody fully the man-centred idea in the view of social history it is, above all, necessary to consider social existence placing man at the centre. For this purpose, special attention should be paid to the following:
Above all, it is necessary to combat the tendency to generalize both man and social wealth as social existence, considering them as equal.
Man alone directly embodies social attributes, and social wealth can be included in the concept of social existence only in relation to man. When reference is made to social wealth, above all, man should be borne in mind. It is taken for granted that man, the creator, and created material wealth cannot be considered as equal.
What is evident is that the concept of man in social science does not imply man with a body alone but man who embodies social attributes and uses objectified materials and cultural wealth. In other words, when man is referred to as social existence, he must be understood as social man with social wealth linked to all other men through social relations and not as an isolated man with a separate body.
Of course, since social wealth is a component part of society, there is no doubt that it belongs to society and not to nature. The wealth created by man exists objectively outside the body of man, but does not share its lot with nature. It is subjected to man and shares its lot with him. In order to ascertain the extent of development of society it is necessary not only to consider the extent of the development of independence, creativity and consciousness embodied in man but also to analyse how much social wealth and social relations have developed.
Thus when reference is made to man in the sense used in social science but not in a biological sense it is supposed that this includes social wealth as well as the human body. But they must not be considered as equal. When we say that man is the master of nature and society, regarding him as a powerful being, we mean such a man and not a man only with a separate body.
Therefore, social being in essence means man alone, and when reference is made to his composition it must be understood as meaning man and social wealth.
As mentioned above, when reference is made to the concept of social being, it is important to get rid of the former viewpoint which considers it as a concept indicating its material character and evolve a concept attaching significance to it as concept which discriminates between natural being and social being.
The emergence of man with consciousness, social relations and labour tools and other social wealth constitute an inseparable and linked integral process. Hence, as man is not conceivable apart from social relations, so man as a social being cannot be conceived of apart from social wealth.
Since individual man can have independence, creativeness and consciousness as a member of a social collective, the term social being is appliable to individual man on the supposition that man is a member of the social collective. However, originally man cannot be a social being if he has not social wealth and is not linked to other men through social relations. Therefore it would be right to consider social man having social wealth and linked with other men through social relations rather than individual man.
Next, to place man at the centre means to consider that man creates social wealth and unfolds historical movement as the process of manifestation of independence, creativity and consciousness, his essential attributes.
Another important question is to evolve a theory of social organism different from individual physical life, on a higher plane.
These two questions will be treated separately on other occasions since they are very important philosophical problems.
If one attempts to appreciate or criticize the Juche-oriented view of social history on the basis of different outdated theories including that of the social organism, this itself only means that one is prepossessed with outdated thinking and methods. Philosophy, particularly views of social history should be thoroughly linked with revolutionary practice and be evolved so as to contribute to the cause of independence of the people. I particularly stress this, taking into account the current international situation, in other words, the moves of the imperialists and emergence of modern social democracy in some countries.
4
At present, the national problem is posed as an important one. Hence consideration of the Juche idea’s view on the nation is of practical significance, I think.
The former progressive theory regarded the issue of national liberation as a component part of the class emancipation struggle. Hence, it can be said that not much attention was paid to the peculiarity of national liberation revolutions. Proceeding from the new viewpoint that the struggle against social subjugation and bondage, whether it is a national liberation struggle or a class liberation struggle, is a struggle to effect man’s independence, the Juche idea admits the peculiarity of the national liberation struggle as well as the class liberation struggle.
The former theory elucidated the question of the formation of the nation in connection with the emergence of capitalism (formation of modern states) and the question of the role of the capitalist class. Hence, it gave things of class character the first consideration and regarded things national as a matter of secondary importance. Viewed historically, it is true that, particularly in Europe, the capitalist class played the leading role in the formation of national markets and national states under banner of nationalism. Nevertheless, it is wrong to consider the question of the fate of a nation in relation to the capitalist class alone. It is wrong to try to interpret the essence of a nation, solely in relation to capitalism and to assess patriotism toward the nation-states as a manifestation of the ideology of the capitalist class and petty-bourgeoisie on the plea that the capitalist class once led the struggle for national independence under the slogan of democracy with a view to monopolizing the national market. Of course, the slogans of nationalism and patriotism the capitalist class put up in the beginning were appropriate for those days. But the capitalist class gradually distorted the substance of the slogans to suit its selfish aims, using them as if their class interests coincided with the interests of the whole nation. Nevertheless, if nationalism and patriotism themselves are negated, identifying them with the capitalist class alone, the working class and the working masses will have no beloved homeland or nation.
In all ages and in all societies it was the masses of the people who really loved, defended, strengthened and developed their nations and homelands. When the privileged position of the reactionary ruling class was threatened by the invasion of foreign aggressors, the reactionary ruling class often sold out the interests of their countries and nations, but the working people always fought for the interests of their nations. The working people always devotedly fight for the independence of the nation because they regard the life of the nation as their own and the fate of the nation as their own. True patriotism can be said to be an inherent attribute of the working people.
Some people in the past, when they considered the national problem, identifying it with capitalism alone, thought that with the disappearance of the capitalist system and establishment of the socialist system the national problem would no longer exist and the borders between socialist countries would disappear. But history shows that even when the socialist system has been established and is expanding in the world people live and develop in each country and nation as the basic unit. Of course, when the ideal society of mankind is established on a world-wide scale its looks will naturally change. But as long as there exist borders between countries and differences between nations the masses of the people will hew out their destinies in each country and nation as the unit.
It conforms with the principle of independence that even in socialist society each country and nation paves its own way, adhering to the principle of self-reliance. Nevertheless, in the past some countries failed to rectify the former wrong attitude towards the nation, and suffered serious setbacks in building new societies while neglecting the establishment of national identity and following the path to dependence on big powers. The Juche idea holds that at the present stage of historical development for working people to establish their own identity is nothing other than to establish national entity. This is because the destiny of the people is carved out in each country and nation as a unit.
Establishment of the national entity does not contradict the class interests of the working people and has nothing to do with national egoism.
Originally the working people have no class privileges. So they do not set the national interests against their class interests but value the national interests more than the interests of any class or social stratum. It is the masses who undergo the greatest sufferings and misfortunes when the independence of a nation is encroached upon and the country faces a crisis. The working people know that their independent lives and happiness are ensured only when the nation and the country exist.
Originally the country and the political power of the state are closely related to each other. Nevertheless, they are not the same concept. The view on the nation and state of the Juche idea differs greatly from that of the former theory which holds that the nation is capitalistic, and the country and the political power of the state are the means whereby one class holds sway over other classes, without discriminating between them. The Juche idea holds that the nation is a collective of fellow countrymen who share the same fate and understands that the concept of the country covers the popular masses living under unitary political leadership and the entire living environment. In exploitative societies the working people are opposed to the political power of the state which the reactionary ruling class abuses for its egoistic purposes, but not to the country itself. The spirit of genuinely loving the country and nation can be said to be one of the essential attributes of the working people.
The Juche idea does not regard any class or social stratum, but the masses of the people, as the main agent of history. The Juche idea is the ideology of the masses, who are the main agent of history. The independence, independent requirements and interests of the masses conform to the requirement of social progress and to the common interests of the nation moving towards independence. The common interests of the nation which conform to the essential requirements of social development are the same, although the requirements and interests of classes and social strata differ from each other. The class interests of the working class conform to the interests of the masses of the people and the common interim of the nation because the working class fights to abolish class privileges and differences, having nothing to do with egoism and exclusivism. Hence the Juche idea is called the idea of the masses or the idea of the working class.
The privileged class cannot represent the interests of the masses and the common interests of a nation because it is an egoistic class which protects its privileged interests. When its force is weak, the capitalist class exerts efforts to monopolize supremacy in a country under the slogan of opposition to another nation’s interference and domination, but when its force is strong it tends to trample on the independence of other nations and establish supremacy over them. Hence, bourgeois nationalism at times advocates the Monroe Doctrine and its like, calling for national or regional autonomy and noninterference, and at times puts forward cosmopolitanism, calling for unlimited sway and liberty.
In contrast, the nationalism and patriotism of the working people striving for the establishment of the national entity not only respect the independence of their nation but also advocate internationalism to develop friendship and cooperation between nations, proceeding from the independent stand of respecting the independence of other nations as well. The Juche idea prefers to use the term patriotism rather than the term nationalism because there is an essential difference between bourgeois nationalism and the nationalism of the masses. Proceeding from the viewpoint that the establishment of a national entity is the basic problem deciding the prosperity and ruin of a nation, the Juche idea applies other principles and methods different from the former theory in overcoming contradictions between classes and social strata within a nation.
The former theory regarded the process of historical development as a process of class struggle, and class struggle as the basic motive force of social progress. Hence, it placed class interests above national interests and gave priority to the struggle to settle class contradictions over the struggle to overcome national contradictions. However, the Juche idea gives priority to the realization of national interests and national independence, valuing national interests and national independence more than class interests and class independence. This is because as the nation existed classes came into being and because the nation is the parent body of classes and the classes are the component parts of the nation. Foreign imperialist aggressors are the common enemy of all the classes and social strata of the national entity. Consequently, the struggle against foreign aggressors requires national unity transcending the interests of classes and social strata.
Because the Juche idea puts the interests of the nation before class interests, it regards the establishment of national entity and its further strengthening as a historic mission to be steadily promoted for the welfare and happiness of the nation until the whole of mankind becomes one big family and holds that the conflicts of class interests within the nation should be settled on the principle of strengthening national unity and defending the common interests of the nation. In order to promote the unity and development of the nation, each class and social stratum should steadily strengthen solidarity and cooperation for the common needs and interests of the nation, thereby strengthening the national entity and gradually overcoming differences and conflicts of interests. The struggle within the nation is not the motive force of development, but the unity and cohesion of the national entity are. Not division and antagonism but national amity and unity based on fraternity is the source of welfare and prosperity of the nation. This is the quintessence of the Juche-orientated view of the nation.

2023.06.03 12:29 The_grass_ceiling If you don't have a fold 4, now is not the time to buy one

There's no denying Samsung is the current king of foldable. The fold lineup has been successful for Samsung but as the years went by Samsung got lazier with new iterations a-la-Apple style and failed to fix longstanding issues with the phone we've all come to know:
The annoying crease
The cramped thin outer display
The fact the phone looks hideous bulky and unwieldy with the gap when folded
Chinese brands have responded with their own foldables which were better in terms of hardware in almost every way: better design, bigger flatter screens, barely noticeable crease, wide outer display.. The only reason not to buy these phones over Samsung's is the Fold's software optimizations for multitasking and the fact the fold is waterproof.
Now, with the upcoming release of the Pixel Fold, Samsung is about to lose its edge for good with Googles fold expected to have every bit of software optimization as the Samsung.
Samsung knows this and has known about the pixel fold for a year. This is why if I were a betting man I'd bet everything on the Fold 5.
despite silly rumors perpetrated on this sub, there's absolutely no chance the Fold 5 will be an iterative upgrade in terms of hardware. Samsung will make the outer screen more comfortable to use, fix the outdated folding mechanism allowing the phone to finally fold flat and give us a foldable worthy of 2023-2024.
The fold 5 is due to be announced next month. So if you're in the market for a new foldable I suggest waiting until the reveal before pulling that trigger

2023.06.03 12:27 Ascending2U 22 [M4F] #Atlanta & Surrounding Areas - Excited & Outgoing Young Geek/Athletic Gym Rat Seeking Adventurous Woman For Ongoing Friendship/Potential LTR; Pegging Welcomed Lol

Hello there and Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Fellow Redditors!
Before you continue, as a young man who knows what he wants, I would like to state what I am NOT seeking:
I'm not a man looking for loads of digital nudity. I would definitely much rather see you in real life and get a surprise!
*** Also, I'm on NoFap. The basic explanation means I don't masturbate and waste my seed into kleenexs, lol. (Going almost 200 days strong), so unbridled, primal virility are aplenty with me!
***SHORTENED VERSION:
TLDR: Summary of me: I'm a young nerd/geek with an outgoing personality, shredded physique, and contagious smile/love of laugh laughter. I'm seeking a like-minded woman to befriend and have an ONGOING, and most importantly, RELIABLE mutual relationship (friendship) with. I'm also very open to something serious as well!
I am also a HUGE Giver and love extended foreplay. I am straight & fully comfortable in my sexuality and open to a vast array of Kinks/Potential Fantasies inside and outside of the bedroom! PEGGING has definitely become quite an interest of mine too!
PSA: For those looking to stay safe and keep their circle small or require discretion due to certain circumstances (work or personal), I'm your guy!
*** Also open to the potential of seriousness & exclusively should we take that course!
***LONG VERSION:
Hello there,
I am a young, well-spoken, and outgoing individual sporting an amazing sense of humor & chiseled physique. I deeply enjoy good conversation filled with laughter and the warmth it brings and love to please as I am very eager to learn, try, and experience new things!
Things I enjoy OUTSIDE of the bedroom:
Things I enjoy Inside of the Bedroom include everything vanilla plus A LOT (virtually open to exploring everything except extreme pain) more that I'd love to discuss face to face.
My Ideal Person:
I am searching for a cool, laid-back and relaxed woman to enjoy mutual fun INSIDE and preferably OUTSIDE of the bedroom as well. The type of person who can enjoy a mind-blowing session while also being able to laugh at various blunders or bloopers that happen during or after the fun, go for nature walks with a lustful twist, and/or seeing a movie on the couch or in theatre!
NO Pressure, NO Insecurity, just cool peeps having an amazing, hot time while creating passionate memories together.
Thanks for stopping by and reading. Shoot me a chat request, and I look forward to meeting you!

2023.06.03 12:27 Mad_Creator Gorm's Epic (English Version)

Gorm's Epic (English Version)
Episode 1 The End of the Exodus A great, huge ship, a real Ark of 130 cubits, was sailing on the flat sea of a blue and sunny afternoon.
-…I still wonder why you gave such a name to our ship…-
Krom-Nav said, as he steered the wheel. The two brothers always had something to say about each other: Krom-Nav was the eldest, always dutiful and precise in his duties, while Yughy, the youngest, was the more reckless one, always ready to experiment. The first had long brown hair that stopped at his shoulders, light and large eyes, a smooth beard that started under the hooked nose, surrounded the mouth, and ended by covering the chin with a point. The second had shorter hair, hazel, darker eyes, a veil of beard on the chin, both tall, athletic bodied, Krom leaner and Yughy Sturdier, dressed, like the rest of their people on that great ship, in animal furs decorated with the symbols of their people: Five symbols that indicated the elements, Water, Earth, Plants, Air, Fire, which all revered and respected. The two had very different characters: Yughy was impulsive, skilled at manual labor, a hothead who often acted on feeling rather than reason. Krom, on the other hand, was more methodical, more thoughtful, didn't talk much unless necessary, loved to read, and always kept a watchful eye on his people and crew.
  • Come on brother! It's been years since we set sail! You should have figured it out! He means “Earth”!- -And I repeat that "Terra", for a ship that sails on water, seems to me a name that is not at all suitable, Yughy…- -AH! BUT YOU DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND ANYTHING! It's called "Earth" as a good omen! That is to FIND the EARTH, after this very long journey at sea! It's a metaphor, a synonym of Hope!- -Maybe…for me the name Gheos, it still seems strange to me…- -You'll see that you'll get used to it sooner or later…- -Okay! You get used to taking the helm!-
Krom said, walking away, while Yughy looked at him in amazement.
-HEY BUT YOU DUMPING ME LIKE THIS?- -EXACTLY!-
And laughing, he made his way to the large stern. Their relationship had always been like this, since they were children. Bound by a brotherly love that occasionally cracked, but never broke. Even in the darkest moment, in fact, they were together.
10 years earlier, on a very distant coast, on a misty island, stood the village of Missa, a village known for its constant mist. The Missians were a peaceful people, dedicated to agriculture, livestock and fishing, and worshiped the elements of Nature: The Earth, on which they could build their houses, The Plants, which gave them shelter and nourishment, The Air , which moved their mills and relieved them from the heat, Water, which gave them its fish and quenched their thirst, and Fire, which protected and warmed them in the dark nights. Some of them were called Old Sages: They were those who mediated between the Elements of Nature and the material world, holders of ancient powers with which they were born and which they then handed down to their successors. They could blend in and disappear in the eyes of others, use their magic to perform miracles, could increase their strength and speed dramatically, and could read minds and move objects with their thoughts. The title of "Old Sage" referred to the first Village Chief, an old man who helped his people to settle in that place, facing dangers and vicissitudes using his magic to create bridges, drive away beasts and make the land fertile. Since then, individuals with similar powers, even young ones, have received this nomea, a noble title for those who would have been the guides, defenders, or scholars of ancient primordial arts.
There Krom-Nav and Yughy were born. Since they were children they showed innate abilities: Krom spoke with plants and animals, perfectly understanding their moods and intentions without his mouth producing sound, and he was able to exploit the air currents to run faster or make the windmills move, while Yughy was able to manipulate the fire, deflect water in the fields with only the laying on of hands and carried heavy rocks making them float with the power of his mind. Both were in total control of the elements of Nature, and were the most talented of those with their powers. The other villagers respected them, and somewhat feared their power. Krom tried to use his powers to improve life in the village, and was always thinking of his fellow citizens, but Yughi was a much more restless spirit: He composed works of art, sculpting the surrounding hills, but often caused disasters such as landslides and mountain slides, when they pissed him off, he controlled torches to set the pants of troublemakers on fire, and played with water, causing it to float in the air, but when he got distracted, the water fell back, often ruining previously irrigated fields. All pranks that Krom-Nav then had to solve, and the bickering between the two brothers was all too frequent. After a few years, the two grew up, and Krom-Nav was elected full-fledged Sage and head of the village of Missa, while Yughy, also elected Sage, became his trusted second. But not even the time to celebrate, that the tragedy struck the village. A neighboring village, made up of a tribe of hunters and vandals, wanted to take possession of the powers of the Sages of Missa. Thus a war broke out which nearly wiped out the Missians, as the enemies burned houses and destroyed crops. In a last desperate attempt, Krom-Nav defended the survivors of his people, together with other Old Sages and the best Missian warriors, while Yughy shaped with his Psychic power, the metal extracted from the earth, and the wood of the last unburnt forests, a large and stately ship where all the Missians boarded. The few left to defend them sacrificed themselves with honor as Krom-Nav mounted Gheos, and set sail, concentrating his powers and controlling the wind to swell the ship's sails. That terrible night, fortunately, most of the Missians survived, including Yughy, Krom-Nav, and his still infant son, little Lehander.
Lehander was now 10 years old, born with one yellow and one black eye, his hair shimmered in the light and turned dull in the shade, he was an enterprising and playful child, also endowed with powers, like his father. While his uncle steered, and Krom, his father, made sure all was well on the ship, Lehander slept peacefully in the hold, where everyone's dormitories resided. As the ship cradled him in the waves, his dreams came alive with strange visions: Before him loomed an ominous mountain, tall, with spiers that seemed to form a thorny crown of pointed rocks, and the front wall carved as if it were an evil visage. From the "mouth" of the mountain, incandescent lava and magma came out, a real river of death, and from it arose monstrous creatures with red and yellow skin. Then the dream became absurd, moved, strange, many different images of strange creatures fighting against fire demons, until everything suddenly stopped. Lehander saw the Volcano, again, but this time from above, and with it a whole island, huge, with blue seas, green forests, steep mountain ranges and all sorts of natural wonders. Then in front of him, a ball of light. When he tried to touch her, he woke up. It was now full night and beside him was his father.
-DAD…DAD WAKE UP!- Krom-Nav opened his eyes lazily, seeing his son shaken.
-Hey…did you have that nightmare again?- -Yes! But this time it was longer! There was the Volcano, the demons, and then other creatures appeared, and they all lived on this huge and beautiful island in the middle of the sea!-
Krom, listened curious, but disturbed. His son not only had both his and his brother's abilities, but he had developed unusual powers: He often saw how the child, in totally random moments, was able to move his own and the shadows of objects hit by the sun, as if they were solid, and he was able to mold them into any shape. In the same way he was able to "take" the rays of the sun or the moon that shone through the cracks in the wood of the ship to illuminate a totally dark place. He also had the unnerving ability to make small predictions: Krom could not get out of his mind how, one day, Lehander said "I'm going to look for a blanket.", and in that instant the climate, which until then had been scorching, suddenly became cloudy and cold, so much so that he had to interrupt the navigation for two days. So those dreams she told him were hard to ignore. They sounded absurd, but what if they were harbingers of something horrific? He couldn't take this lightly, he had learned over the years that chance was nothing more than a way for the mind to justify natural phenomena and destiny. Krom spoke about this a few nights later with his brother Yughy, after Lehander had a similar vision again, but he kept telling him not to worry, while they were at the bow looking at the sea, that probably the child's immature powers made harmless pranks.
-Krom, you get too worked up…do you remember, when we were kids, I had that dream about a red-hot rock that would hit me on the head?- -Yes, I remember…you were so agitated that when you finally sat down under a tree and a pine cone hit you, you passed out for hours from terror.- -You never remember nice things…anyway if you notice I was a child, and while you already had conversations with blackbirds and lizards, I still had to figure out how to avoid setting fire to the grove behind the house…- -So you want to tell me that Lehander is only very young?- -And also that his powers sometimes go to his head! Then he's always been a kid with a wild imagination, you shouldn't take it too seriously!-
The two continued to converse about it, while the night sky was lit only by moonlight. Krom-Nav continued to be worried about his son's visions, while Yughy continued to reassure him. Krom, however, couldn't get over it, since that wasn't the only thing troubling him.
-Sometimes, when he thinks he's alone, I hear him talking as if he were with someone else...often it almost seems like he's "arguing" with himself.- -Maybe just play, don't you think?- -I know my son, and I distinguish well when he plays and when something is wrong. He's had weird attitudes ever since he started walking on this ship. He has powers unlike ours or any other Sage who have come before us, plus it seems as if he is never fully awake…I think this journey has become too long…our people need a place to call home…and this vessel can no longer be. Far too many people were born and died here, and I think that the continuous wandering in the sea for years is doing as much harm to our body as to our psyche.- -I know brother...I know...-
Yughy said, as he placed a hand on her shoulder.
-…But I'm sure we're almost there. I read the stars yesterday, they seemed to be in the right position, and a few days ago I saw some seagulls in the sky! We are certainly close to the earth!- -You say? What if it was just an islet? A tiny strip of land?- -It will mean that we will replenish the supplies, we could take Lehi and the other children for a walk, and then we will leave again! Where there is a strip of land Often there are others not far away, who knows, maybe after that we won't find a bigger island, or an entire continent!- -…Let's hope so…- -Hey, Hey! Don't make that face. Come on, if I can get that frown out of you, as soon as we stop I'll have Lehander go on a little adventure! As soon as he helps me gather wood, he'll forget about his bad dreams! What are you saying, big brother?- -…Thanks Yughy.-
They continued to converse for a while, Krom-Nav felt more and more reassured by the words of his brother, who had always helped him raise his son: While escaping from Missa, little Lehander's mother, Astreg, was killed by an arrow shot straight to the heart. Krom-Nav had not had time to bury her for years, and kept her remains, mummified so as not to lose them, in a remote room of the ship, waiting for a suitable place for her burial. Since then Krom raised his son alone, with the help of Yughy, who often entertained the child, making him do small jobs on the ship, teaching him some magical techniques, and playing the funny uncle. The two spent a lot of time together, often not even Krom knew where Lehander was, only to later find him with his uncle.
As the two brothers continued to talk, a yell from the watchtower made them whirl around.
-FOG BANK COMING SOON!-
The two brothers ran to the helm, which was being steered by one of their best men, Hagar.
-What happen?- -We are entering a bank of fog, Krom. Looks pretty thick,- -Fog? But how?-
The ship then plunged into fog. All the Missians exited their cabins and made their way to the deck. Lehander reached his father and hugged him tightly, while Krom kept his arm around him. The fog was thick, white, so much so that everyone could feel the steam touching them like a caress, and the salty smell of the sea almost seemed like a sweet aroma. This penetrating fog reminded everyone of the fog of Missa, and caused a sense of nostalgia, serenity, peace in the souls of each of them. Either because of Hagar's caution, or because of the pearly and compact vapor, the mist looked like an infinite Cloud in which the ship was almost swimming. Abruptly, Hagar stopped. Something in the sea was moving. A rumbling was rising from the depths of the sea, and it seemed to get closer and closer. Everyone felt it, and terrified they stood silent, hugging their loved ones. Krom, he looked around, perceived a great, immense force around them. Yughy instead heard only an indecipherable muttering. Then, suddenly, a gasp. The ship began to rock violently, everyone held on to something, the two brothers barely resisted standing. The ship rocked for minutes, until something popped up from the sea: An enormous head, twice the size of the ship, emerged from the water. A gargantuan creature with a reptilian head, mottled and scaly skin, tinged with a brilliant abyssal blue, opened its mouth, emitting a high-pitched dissonant song and displaying thousands of sharp teeth, arranged in a comb, as large as the trees of the ship. His mouth shut, his oil-black eye opened, and he just stood there staring at the ship. Krom-Nav approached the rail, where the eye of the creature scrutinized the ship, while Yughy and Lehander watched the scene amazed together with the rest of the people.
-KROM! COME BACK HERE!- -Keep calm…- -KROM! FOR THE SAKE OF THE ELEMENTS, IT'S NOT A DOLPHIN!- -I said stay calm, Yughy…I feel it…it's powerful…but it's not hostile…- -…HOW SHOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU FEEL IT?-
Krom got as close as possible. He saw the giant pupil turn towards him, narrow and then widen. He feared neither the ship nor Krom. And he didn't seem to want to attack her. Lehander also approached, as if attracted by that magnificent creature. Krom held his son close, and in the process, tried to use his powers to communicate with us. The only thing he heard were strange words in an incomprehensible language.
-Dad...maybe I can understand you...-
Krom wondered for a moment, how could his son already know a language that he didn't know either? But he could not let fear dominate him.
-...Lehe...be careful...and tell us what the beast wants.-
Lehander approached, under the astonished eyes of all. The mighty animal began to make strange noises, but it seemed that somehow, its roaring gurgle and its high-pitched song, resembled words, sentences, a finished speech he was having with the child. Abruptly, he changed, and Lehander turned to face his people.
-…He said his name was Murena. It lives a little further on, in its great lair at the bottom of the sea, near a southward current, and a ditch beyond it. She says that she is one of the guardians of this sea, and that she has a friend with many tentacles, with whom she sometimes fights over the place where she likes to eat. Near her lair is also a large Island. If we ask them please we can live there! There's plenty of room, lots of wood, enough food and water for everyone! We just have to not fish too much and not catch too much. She says she has many other friends on earth, and she doesn't want some of them to get angry.-
The great Moray eel slowly closed and reopened her eye towards the boat, as if it were a sign of assent. Yughy approached his brother.
-…it almost seems that…- -Yes…he understood that Lehander is a “puppy”…and made him understand it easily…- -So, there really is an island…and it's big enough for all the people.- -He also said that there are Beasts like her, if not bigger, that could kill us.- -KROM! HE SAID WE SHOULD NOT DISTURB THEM AS WE ALWAYS HAVE DONE WHEN WORSHIP THE ELEMENTS! YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND! WE ARE ONE STEP AWAY FROM OUR NEW HOME! IF IT'S AS BIG AS IT SAYS WE WOULD NEVER HUNGER! WE WOULD RESIST FOR GENERATIONS AND GENERATIONS! FOR THE FIRST TIME YOUR CHILD WILL TOUCH THE WARM GROUND AND NOT THE COLD WOOD OF THIS SHIP! YOU CAN BURY ASTREG INSTEAD OF ROTTING IT IN THE SEA! IF THIS THING WOULD HAVE WANTED TO EAT YOU IT WOULD ALREADY HAVE DONE IT! LOOK HOW BIG HIS MOUTH IS! THINK WHAT'S UNDER THE SEA! IT'S OUR CHANCE, BROTHER! OUR INVITATION TO A PEACEFUL LIFE FOR US, FOR YOUR PEOPLE! FOR YOUR CHILD!-
Krom was torn: On the one hand there was the risk of a trap by that monster, on the other, his people were tired of travelling, tired of seeing only the sea and having to make do to survive. Krom approached his son.
-Ask her…to show us the way.- -YES!-
Lehander with the most innocent smile he could muster looked at his father and uncle, and turned to the Moray Eel. It remained motionless for an interminable minute, then, its head moved forward, towards the direction of the Gheos ship, its long bluish body began to show itself as it swam towards that direction. It seemed endless, but out of the queue, Krom-Nav realized that his brother was right in his greatness. It was ten times the length of the ship, its serpentine body like a moving mountain range, and the long translucent blue fin that ran along its entire body made it even more imposing to the shocked Missians. The Moray Eel swam ahead of the ship, and began to swim straight ahead to show the way out of the mist. Krom, immediately set to work.
-HAGAR! FULL SPEED! SAILS EXPLAINED! WE NEED TO STAY BEHIND IT! YUGHY! REACH THE LOOKOUT AND CLIMB THE MAIN MAST! ALL ELSE BELOW DECKS!-
And so they did, everyone took their places, the civilians returned, and Krom stood straight in the bow, followed by his son who watched in ecstasy as the gigantic creature guided them towards the unknown. Mist beat against their faces as the ship went at full speed driven by the wind. The creature accelerated more and more as the clouds cleared, they were coming, the salty smell was slowly disappearing. Then, from the top of the watchtower, Yughy screamed together with the other sailor.
-GHEOOOOOOOS! GHEOOOOOOOS! EEEEEARTH!-
Krom still couldn't see it, then the sunlight blinded him, Lehander, and Hagar. As their eyes adjusted, they saw her: A gigantic island loomed before them, a huge layer of land surrounded by cliffs and a sea so blue it looked like fresh water, so clear that you could see all kinds of sea creatures swimming beside the ship, known and unknown. Two huge mountains welcomed them, towering over endless expanses of lush jungles and forests, and surrounded by towering mountain ranges that crowned the entire island. It was their promised land. Their new home
Yughy, he got off, very excited and joined his brother and nephew.
-…Look…WHAT SPLENDOR...- -…Yes…finally…we are home…- -We absolutely have to find a name for her…- -I already have a name for her…- -And what will it be called?- -…it will be our Life from now on…- -Life…you mean..?- -Exactly…GORM…-
