My boyfriend [34yo] lied to me [33yo] about an entire trip to Cancun.

2023.05.30 23:08 Ok-Middle8213 My boyfriend [34yo] lied to me [33yo] about an entire trip to Cancun.

So I had a trip planned to Miami to celebrate one of my college friend's bachelor party that my boyfriend knew about this past weekend. He asked when was I leaving and I told him last Wednesday. He ended up booking a trip to "California" on the same day and we were to get back on the same day, which was this past Sunday. He has a residence in California and Texas, so he has clothes, shoes, everything he needs already there. So red flag #1 for me was when I saw him pack a huge suitcase. I looked and wondered why would he do that, but didn't think anything of it. He was also talking to himself as he was packing saying that he was going to take some shorts to Cali (probably doing this to cover himself on why he's packing heavy; he NEVER packs heavy for trips to Cali). He landed about 10 hours before I did. I video called him once he landed and I could see he was at the airport. So I ask him was he going to have a friend pick him up or a Lyft. He said he was going to have his homeboy pick him up. I was like alright. After I landed in Miami that night, I let him know I made it. I tried to video call him on Google Meet (I'm an iPhone user and he's an Android user) he did not answer and it was about 12...1am in the morning, meaning it would've been 9...10pm Cali time. I receive a notification about 30 mins after I called him from Google Meet stating if I wanted to call him back again. Now in the past, he has told me that when you receive that notification, that means that you looked at the missed call. So at this point, I'm like he saw me call. Moving along, he calls me back around 3...4am, which is about 3 hours behind for Cali. He says I'm lucky he had to get up to pee while he was sleep (he did not video call me back, he called regular) and we talked for a few. I knew something was off that first night. So over the next few days, things didn't seem or feel right. I would call. He wouldn't answer, he'd call me back a few hours later or act like he never got my call. He would text, instead of calling me back. Every time he would video call, it was either in a bathroom, which didn't look like his bathroom in Cali or outside. Which outside didn't even seem right because he has a townhome. If he was sitting in the front of the townhome like he said he was, I would've been able to see it from the back, but I could see nothing. It was pitch black...and it was 9pm EST my time and 6PM his time, meaning it was still sunny in Cali! And earlier this day, he sent me screenshots of his phone screen trying to show me that he was having issues calling me. I looked at his time and it was only an hour behind me, meaning he had to have been somewhere in CST. I asked him about it and he had nerve to say that his phone was acting up and it didn't update when he landed in Cali. (LIE) I mentioned about it being pitch black at 6pm in Cali and he had nerve to say that it gets dark around that time. I knew that was a lie because I've been to Cali several times and it was always still light out and I also texted my friend that lives in Cali and he also confirmed it was still sunny. So I mentioned all of this to him and he had nerve to try and get mad at me for accusing him of lying, knowing darn well he was lying. He lied about him riding his bike (he has a motorcycle, car, and truck out in Cali) to some lounge he went to in Hollywood. He stayed out late, called me the next morning and was like let me get a little bit more sleep and I'll call you back when I wake up. He called back an hour later and said he was at a restaurant in Hollywood. He gave me the name of it, I googled it. Now he lives in Anaheim...that's an hour drive. So you mean to tell me he went back to sleep and was able to get up, get ready to drive back out to Hollywood to go to a restaurant? I knew that was a lie. He called me while he was at the restaurant and was sounding so happy and cheery. He said he'd call me back. I knew something was up so I called him back like 10 minutes later just to see if he would answer because why wouldn't you if you're at a restaurant by yourself. Do ya'll know he didn't answer the first time, so I called back a second time he answered and his tone was so different and he was talking so slow and short. That let me know that he was with someone because why were you so happy a second ago before you got to your table? Some other stuff happened, but fast forward to Sunday. I asked him what airport he was flying out of and he said LAX and he was flying with Frontier (LAX doesn't even have Frontier). He also gave me the time he was leaving which was 3:42pm. Now we both were supposed to land at 6...7pm in Texas. If he's leaving LA at 3:42pm, that's a 3 hour flight, then you have to add 2 more hours because of the time change. I looked up all flights that would be landing in Texas and none from Cali, but San Diego was on there. And one from Cancun. I found all of his flight information. So we both land in Texas. He ended up still being on the plane and he had nerve to say that he had to go through customs. I asked why, he said he didn't know, they're doing some weird inspection. I could not believe my eyes at all of the lies I was reading. So I confront him about it once he comes out of the International Arrival section at the airport and he has nothing to say. He proceeds to give me some bs story about how no one was supposed to know he was there and he was there on business for his family...blah blah. We don't follow each other on social media, but I could see that he posted all weekend long on Snapchat. So if people weren't supposed to know you were there, why are there posts at all? He sent me 2 videos of him at a lounge and I was able to figure out in 5 minutes what bar it was! I also found his resort receipt and it had that 2 guests were staying there. He also did a boat tour and took a picture. I asked about the 2 guests and he was like it always say 2 guests when you book somewhere, man please. I have always changed mine to 1 when I book online. And most times we were on the phone during the trip, it seemed as if he would always have to go outside or be in the bathroom. I also asked him to see his snaps, but he wouldn't show me anything, which shows that clearly there will be incriminating evidence on there.
TL; DR I've never been lied to like this before. I won't say this is his first time where his story doesn't add up, but he went out of his way to lie to me for almost a week. And then get mad at me for calling him out. I'm extremely hurt and believe its time I move on. I can't trust him at all. If he lied about this, what else has he done and what else will he lie about in the future.

100% BUY rating on BarChart for Surge Battery Metals (NILI.v NILIF) maintained ahead of drill program set to begin imminently at Nevada North Lithium Project
Maintaining a 100% buy rating on BarChart, Surge Battery Metals (NILI.v NILIF) is set to begin a drill program imminently at its Nevada North Lithium Project and is strategically positioned to capitalize on the significant opportunity that lithium offers.
The race to secure lithium supplies for EV production has commenced with GM making an investment into Lithium Americas (LAC) and Ford signing an agreement with Albemarle (ALB) to secure lithium hydroxide for ~3M Ford EVs, positioning the lithium is poised for significant growth.
Indicators point to this being the early stages of a commodities super cycle as the lag between commodity price signals and changes in supply is widening.
NILI's Nevada North Lithium Project consists of 243 mineral claims over 1,946 hectares with significant lithium content ranging from 29.1 ppm to 5,120 ppm, including 274 samples of 508 carrying 1,000 ppm Li or greater.
NILI will be drilling 7 new locations at Nevada North within an extensive surface geochemical covering an area of about 1,700m east-west. The new targets were selected to expand the currently identified lithium deposit to the west and north, as well as to determine continuity between the 2022 holes drilled.
While NILI is still in the early stages, it's well positioned for growth going forward with enough capital to expedite and complete its 2H 2023 exploration programs.

2023.05.30 22:38 er1nsm1th Low-income workers have seen historic wage increases during the pandemic. Will it last?

Hi! I’m Erin Smith, a journalist at POLITICO. A few months ago I asked you all to consider sharing your story about wage increases over the last couple of years.
I wanted to thank everyone in this sub who reached out to help. We ended up highlighting the story of a worker who found us through this sub, so I wanted to share the resulting story.
Econ reporter Victoria Guida analyzed data from the U.S. Labor Department, spoke to economists and chatted with workers about their experiences. She found that: * Government policies to boost the economy during the pandemic also helped boost wages for low-income workers. * People making an average of $12.50 per hour nationally saw their pay grow nearly 6% from 2020 to 2022 — even after factoring in inflation. * At the same time, price spikes have eaten away raises for the highest-earning employees, dropping their inflation-adjusted income by roughly 5% over the past couple of years. * But even for the lower-wage workers who have seen the biggest gains, inflation is denying them the full benefit of raises, with many of them going into debt to cover basic expenses. * The Federal Reserve is now trying to slow inflation. But some progressive lawmakers and economists are questioning whether it will hurt the progress made by low-wage workers.
You can read the full story here. Let me know if you have any questions, comments or ideas for other data we should be digging into – and thanks again!

I hear lots of people dump on the leaf. I have had my 2022 SV Plus (with tech package) for 17000 miles. I have had one problem with the front facing camera. It was intermittent. Nissan replaced it in one day and drove me to work and picked me back up. I like it so much my parents just got a 2021 SL Plus used with upgraded light color interior.
I also have a bolt. It is sad that the two affordable EV's are getting discontinued.

2023.05.30 22:01 Nearby-Complaint Pinellas County Jane Doe Identified As Missing Arizona Mother

When two children in Florida called the cops on Halloween of 1969 about a suspicious black trunk they'd seen unknown men disposing of in an empty lot, the St. Petersburg police had no idea they were about to encounter one of their most difficult cold cases. Upon opening the trunk, the police discovered a recently deceased woman's remains covered in plastic and masking tape. A towel was wrapped around her head, covered in blood. She appeared to be dressed for bed, wearing a green nightgown and hair curlers pinned into place. Medical examiners determined that the woman was likely in her mid-twenties to mid-thirties and likely died as a result of strangulation with a bolo tie in addition to blunt force trauma to her skull. Jane Doe was likely intoxicated at the time of her death and showed no defensive wounds, leading investigators to suspect that her killer was someone known to her. Upon releasing her description to the press, the St. Petersburg police department received hundreds of leads and tips from those who thought they may have known her. The trunk she was found in was delivered to the FBI, though law enforcement declined to release the results of their forensic testing.
None of these leads panned out, and eventually, investigators released a sketch of the woman and her dental records, describing her unique upper partial denture plate. Despite many leads, the case went cold, and without knowing who Jane Doe was, they had no way to find her killer. With the advent of DNA nearly thirty years later, a DNA profile for her was loaded onto CODIS, the national DNA database for the United States, with no matches from her relatives. Finally, in 2022, seeing the success of other jurisdictions with genetic genealogy, law enforcement decided that Jane Doe would be a good candidate for the testing.
Much to their delight, genetic genealogy helped pinpoint a likely identification for the unknown woman found in Florida: Sylvia June Atherton, a forty-one-year-old mother of five from Tucson, Arizona, who disappeared with her young daughters in 1969 after leaving with her husband. A surviving daughter of hers, Syllen, noted that the last time she saw her mother was when her mother and stepfather dropped her off at her biological father's home in Chicago. Her husband, who died in 1999, never reported Sylvia missing and it is currently unknown what happened to her daughters.

2023.05.30 21:51 ensluck 🐻 Explaining the NFT bear market

🐻 Explaining the NFT bear market

Your cheat sheet on... NFT bear market

NFT space may seem like a jigsaw puzzle. NFT Cheats is a series of newsletters that helps you put the pieces together.
NFT Cheats by Rarible is a newsletter that explores the very pillars the NFT space stands on. Think of those as the NFT World-bearing turtles (or Apes).
It’s called NFT Cheats because each newsletter is designed as a cheat sheet that brings you up to speed on a given niche within the NFT space.
NFT bear market is the third subject in the series. The previous issues covered Historical NFTs and NFT Security. To put together a cheat sheet on today’s topic, we talked to wale.swoosh, researcher-in-residence at Azuki and a self-described ‘Director of Threads’ on NFT Twitter.
Wale got into NFTs in early 2021 after hearing about them on Gary Vee’s Instagram. He joined Twitter a few months after that to become a better trader as he realized that NFT Twitter plays a big role in that. Wale quickly fell in love with the community, and started sharing his own thoughts on the timeline, quickly becoming one of the most popular NFT content writers known for his in-depth threads.
DO NOT treat any of the information below as financial advice, and do your own research (DYOR) before buying into any asset.
The interview has been edited and condensed, meaning the content below is attributed to the guest expert, but shouldn’t be treated as a direct quote.

What does a bear market mean for NFTs?

A bear market in Web3 is usually marked by a general flattening of interest in the space. Fewer new people join, and some people who were in Web3 leave.
That leads to a crash in prices, teams stop developing, and the sentiment in the space is generally bad because everyone is fighting for the crumbs of a shrinking pie.
If you look at it historically, bear markets are always caused by an external macro influence. We’ve had several bear markets in crypto since the industry emerged, and this seems to be the first major bear market for NFTs specifically since they hit the mainstream in 2021.
The current bear market started around Q2 2022, and of course we just can’t know when it will end exactly. But I'm positive that it will be followed by a bull cycle.
During this bear market, we’ve seen projects shed around 70-90% of their floor prices. At this point, it might be hard to believe that certain NFTs were trading at 3-10x their current floor price.
Moonbirds' historical floor price, as shown by
There are several reasons behind that grand fall. First, a lot of people have simply left the space. According to recent numbers, there are around 7,000 active traders left. When you have a few thousand people creating and trading maybe millions of NFTs… the supply/demand ratio gets crazy. When the demand is low, the floor price will follow.
Projects themselves also play a role in this. Without naming any specific ones, we have many teams that have made major strategic mistakes in recent months. In fact, I don't think there are blue chips anymore in the space, outside of the top 3-4 most successful collections.
Then we had ETH volatility, the memecoin season, Blur experimenting with some trading mechanics — all of that have also not been good for the floor prices across the board.
The most important thing for the NFT space at the moment is to get more people in, because when you have 7k traders, it's really hard to run a successful project. Right now, holders are basically playing hot potato with each other. As to how we might onboard more people — that's a whole other topic.

NFTs are dead. Long live NFTs!

People who say NFTs are dead are partly right.
Most projects are indeed dead or are in the process of dying. 99% of them won't come out of this bear market because they just don't have what it takes. Those who will come out, however, will come out stronger.
Having said that, NFTs as a technology will never ever die because it brings so much innovation to areas like gaming and digital ownership, for example.

Metas, or why there's always a "shiny thing" in NFTs

To better understand the nature of the NFT market, it's useful to understand the role metas play in it.
Meta is a certain pattern that we see emerge (most of the time suddenly) and disappear (that also tends to happen quite quickly) in the NFT space.
A meta can last anywhere from a few days to months. A good example would be the open edition meta we saw a few months ago started by Jack Butcher’s Checks. Once it became clear that Checks are doing good, we saw all those other projects doing open editions, mostly following the same pattern/concept…
At the time, the majority of the content on the NFT Twitter timeline was about open editions. Initially, when a new meta emerges, it starts to generate/feed off hype— everyone wants to be a part of this new exciting thing, and ultimately make some money from it (be it trading, engagement farming, or both).
It’s hard to put a finger on what exactly makes a meta pop off, but once it gets going, it spreads fast.
Wale's thread on metas (click on the pic to read)
You have to realize that sooner or later, every meta always disappears. The people who are invested in it often think (or want you to think) that it’s here forever, but in reality there's always the next shiny thing a few weeks later that people will go chasing after, forgetting about the one that preceded it.
That being said, the OG projects that start metas—like Checks, for example—often keep at least some of their relevance, while most other unoriginal projects who were just trying to copy them vanish.
Besides metas, there’s also culture. Culture is a more fundamental kind of thing. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate: is this new thing more transitory and based on short-term attention, or is it here to actually stay, setting a new standard for the space for years to come?
There weren’t many events that actually revolutionized the industry, like what Yuga Labs did when they airdropped the serums for the MAYC collection, the distribution trick many projects adapted later on. But those usually come around in a more subtle manner.
So normally when every week you have people saying “oh, that's the new thing, it will change the space forever for years to come” and are super vocal about it, it’s almost never the case.
The attention span in this space is incredibly short, and people tend to put most of their attention into things that are ‘meta’ at the moment.
Will traditional brands kick off the next bull?
There are a few examples of traditional brands doing a good job with their web3 initiatives, Gucci and Adidas specifically come to mind. But you and I would probably have a hard time naming 10 successful web2 companies who came into the web3 space, so we haven't seen that unfold just yet.
When it comes to getting new people into NFTs, major brands could be one way to do it — when people see a trusted brand, they might want to get involved, as they’re more likely to trust a brand they already know.
It’s a two-way street: when more people in general will get interested in NFTs, web2 brands will likely have an easier time onboarding people as well.
It also depends on which audience the specific brand wants to address. When you want to get into the hardcore NFT community, you better understand web3 culture and be part of it so your activation doesn't feel forced—the infamous Pepsi and Budweiser exchange on Twitter became a meme for a reason. But at the same time, as more legacy brands will come in, the focus might shift away from the core NFT community to retail users.
And when more retail comes in and NFT becomes more adopted as a technology, it is likely that the end user won’t realize that they are interacting with the blockchain or even that they’re buying an NFT. It will be more subtle, and the majority of retail users probably won't be creating wallets and trading NFTs on OpenSea/BluRarible per se.
Nike’s .swoosh is another good example of a web2 x web3 crossover—when you sign up there, you don't even know that you are minting an NFT. I think that's a good approach to bringing more people in, because right now the blockchain infrastructure is still very complicated for new people.
At the moment, if you know nothing about web3, blockchain or crypto in general, the learning curve is just too steep: you have to go through the process of creating your own wallet and writing down a 24-word seed phrase, buying and swapping tokens, sometimes bridging—all that just to get an NFT you want. So in regards to mainstream adoption, it will be crucial to build platforms, infrastructure and tools that will be intuitive even for people who are not crypto NFT natives.
Is it a good time to enter the NFT space?
It's a good time to take your time.
Let’s be honest: If you’re coming into the NFT space right now, there's a very high chance that you will immediately leave. The bear market vibes are really difficult to handle for a newcomer.
When you go on NFT Twitter these days, there’s so much toxicity, shilling and hate going on… It's really terrible. Then you have short term metas where some people make money and tweet about it nonstop while the silent majority loses money. Of course if you're a newcomer and most of your timeline is talking about how this thing is pumping and they’ve already made 100x on it, you’ll want to join in. The meta will then move on, and most likely you’ll lose money. I think that's driving a lot of people away from our space.
But a bear market is actually a great opportunity to learn about NFTs. For me, the ideal way to start in the NFT space is to make a Twitter account, and get involved in NFT Twitter by following some trusted people and just spending time reading their takes, maybe participating in some discussion. And then when you feel comfortable about what you know and feel like you can make informed decisions, then maybe start buying your first NFT or minting your first NFTs (always with the money you can afford to lose).
Rarible Bear Pass, the free open edition mint that generated 683.5k copies
As for choosing which projects to join, I recommend looking at the team behind it. That’s what it is all about in Web 3. When you have a team that's emerged into the space and is actually building for the community, that's a massive green flag. Invest in people you personally believe in. To me, the team is way more important than the art/roadmap because if you don't have a team that's able to execute, you can have the best roadmap but the project won't be successful.
But please remember that in web3 it can all change within weeks or even days. This space is moving extremely fast, and that hasn’t changed even during the bear market.
And if you're already in the NFT space, it’s a good time to build. When you have a project is a good time to build in silence so you are ready for the next bull market—and I am positive that it will happen.

2023.05.30 21:34 Gahu Xiaomi Mi 34" Curved dies (no LED etc)

Hi all,
Last ditch effort before I either buy new monitor or turn this one to RMA. RMA could be not accepted if issue is due to normal "wear and tear", only covers up to 3 years here in Sweden if it's a factory defect. Also have no way of reproducing the issue, so it might work while they test it in the store.
The issue: Sporadically and without any pattern that I can tell the monitor just dies for a period of time for about 5m-1h. During that time, no power LED or anything. Even if I switch inputs or cables or different power jacks etc, nothing turns it on. Until some time passes and it just wakes up(as in LED turns on and the input is shown as if nothing happened) and starts working.
Initially this issue happened maybe once a month and first time it happened maybe fall 2022. Since then the frequency has increased and the amount of time it stays off has as well. I'm writing this as it's shut down for the second time today (first time it happens twice on single day and in short timeframe).
Daily usage since around: 2020-10-24 Model: Xiaomi Mi 34" curved gaming monitor Exact model: XIMI34G
This seems to me (as a layman) like a faulty capacitor issue? Possibly in the power-supply? I saw someone else that ordered replacements parts
But I did not find any shops selling those by using google at least. Any tips on where for example a replacement power supply can be found in EU?
Open to other suggestions as well or if I should just call it a loss and move on.

2023.05.30 21:27 raeann95 Before and after (on my last month)

I (27f) have had acne since I was 11 years old, nothinggg worked for me, and trust me I've tried it all 😭 I started my course December 24th 2022 for hormonal cystic acne as well as closed comedones ALL over my face. Seriously, every inch of my face (and shoulders and back and chest lmao) was covered in hundreds of those mofos. February-April was the worst of the purge for me but I'm finally starting to see some serious results. I still have a bit of scarring that I'll work on after my course is finished, but that's no big deal because I can't even remember the last time I've felt so good I'm my own skin. It makes me emotional just thinking about it 🥲 if anyone is considering starting isotretinoin, just do it. It's so worth it.

2023.05.30 21:02 the_cosmovisionist It's our one year anniversary! (OSMOFOLIA anniversary sale & summer release are here~)

We just couldn't wait another day or two—the new release & catalog update are here!
In addition to lots of small updates around the website, there's a lot going on with today's news.
First: the DREAMS AND ACTUALITY collection is now available! These eight scents are intended to evoke the sort of meandering imagination that can only run free in summer—both real and fantastical, floating somewhere between dreams and actuality.
24 HOUR DRIVE: Warm tonka bean, a suede jacket slung over the headrest, a half-rolled spliff spilled all over the backseat, a melted cone of cinnamon vanilla ice cream, and fleeting landscapes illuminated by the sun.
CICADA KID: The relentless, infinite buzz of summer: windswept grass, dandelions pushing through cracks in asphalt, strongly brewed black tea, handfuls of thyme stuffed into raggedy pockets, and a half-eaten bag of marshmallows.
FARM BOY: Rugged terrain dotted by hay bales drying in the sunlight, stacks of chopped cedar, artichokes and lettuce carried by gentle hands, well-worn denim sticky with pine sap, and dreamy, hopeful bergamot.
LOVERS LEAVING HELL: Woodsmoke from a dying bonfire, a pair of lit cigarettes under a starry sky, two warm bowls of vanilla rice pudding, and sweet, yearning kisses of cardamom.
NIETZSCHE'S LYCHEES: A second, dangerous innocence in joy. Sour lychees broken open by hand, sinful black musk, bittersweet chocolate, bone-dry sweetgrass, mushrooms growing amongst tangled roots, and a whisper of sweet osmanthus in the darkness.
REVERIE: Moments spent frolicking in the consciousness of another life. Steamed rice speckled with clove, words swirling off the pages of a book, the lingering haze of imagination, and a marshmallow-soft tumble back down to earth.
SHOTGUN: Dollops of whipped cream speckled with vanilla bean paste, velvety pink peonies, blissfully tart wild strawberries, glowing white amber, and the hiss of a cold metal canister.
TÚ Y YO: Together, and in love: hand-plucked frangipani, featherlight musk, rich dark vanilla bean, powdered sugar, overripe figs simmered in panela, and a slice of fresh angel food cake.
There are also four new single notes joining the spring/summer catalog:
BLACKTOP: Shimmering summer rain evaporating off of hot, sticky asphalt.
LAWN: A sunlit nap on the lawn: a body sinking into cool green turf and fingers tangled with fresh cut grass.
LAZY RIVER: Towels soaked with pool water, and wet, glistening skin drying in the heat.
ORYZA: Fluffy basmatti rice in a warm bowl.
These 12 scents are some of my favorites ever released—many of them were a technical challenge to formulate (long-lasting grass! smoky top notes! rich fruity base notes!) while others pushed me out of my usual style (gourmands are so hard, for real).
They really embody OSMOFOLIA, I think—both philosophical and playful, complex but straightfoward, reflective of a distinct curiosity for the scents of the world around us.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do 🥰
With this release, OSMOFOLIA also celebrates the first anniversary of our perfume house!
Our perfumery officially opened in June of 2022, as nothing more than a table at a local market. Over the past year, OSMOFOLIA has grown more than I ever expected it to, and I'm so immensely grateful for that! The ability to share olfactory art with you is a joy and an honor ❤️
To celebrate our first year in business, we have a special anniversary scent!
Folks often ask what OSMOFOLIA's studio smells like—it'd be impossible to bottle the day-to-day aroma, but this scent is a snapshot of what the studio smelled like at a particular moment in time.
And what better theme is there than the inspiration and humdrum of perfumery itself?
OLFACTORIUM: The scented ephemera of a perfume studio, and the clutter of a perfumer at work: an open vial of pink pepper, a fifth cup of coffee, papers of formulae smeared with iso e super, droplets of milk lactone on the bench, a heaping scoop of coumarin, scent strips rich with sandalwood aroma chemicals, and the sweet marshmallowy joy of inspiration brought to life.
The scent's concept is also a balance between fantasy notes (coffee, formulas, paper, marshmallow, scent strips) and individual ingredients (pink pepper, iso e super, milk lactone, coumarin, sandalwood aroma chemicals).
I wanted to showcase these ingredients individually rather than hiding them in a notes list that feels more familiar, because my favorite part of perfumery is developing familiarity with individual materials and learning how to visualize them in larger scents.
I know that might make the scent a bit harder to imagine—but luckily, we've got a way to make it easier to smell. For June, Olfactorium will be the freebie scent in every order! (unless a different scent is explicitly requested)
As another way to pay homage to OSMOFOLIA's beginnings, there is a small anniversary sale—since marshmallow was the note that kicked off my interested in learning to make perfume, all scents with a marshmallow note are 20% off from May 30th to June 14th, with code ANNIVERSARY. :)
A few quick catalog updates:
On our shift to new bottles/vials & pricing updates:
All of the individual scent pages have been updated to reflect the new product information. Prices for 5ml bottles have risen to $21.00, and we've changed the style of the bottle (now, it's square!), the caps (they're copper, and they look awesome!), and the labels (no more slippy labels is the goal... plus, updated label art!).
We finished up the last of our case of previous bottles, and the remaining ones were pre-bottled for May. The last call for leftovers is here!
Samples are now offered in 2ml vials, rather than 1ml. 2ml samples now cost $8.00 individually, but sample sets are priced so that each sample is $7.00 (ie, 6 samples x $7 = $42 for a sample set of 6). The vials come with reducer caps to help prevent spillage, too.
Solid fragrances also have updated pricing. Previous batches of solid fragrance were filled with 15g of balm for $15, but newer batches of solid fragrance contain 21g and now cost $20.
Certain solid fragrance scents were restocked more than a month ago, so a 15g/$15 option for those scents will remain on the website until we run out. When they're restocked, they'll switch over to the 21g/$20 offering :)
Finally, an update on alcohol format offerings!
Unfortunately, we ran into an issue with the case of bottles, so the release of our alcohol format scents will be delayed until July 1st or so. So sorry to extend the wait!
But I don't want to leave you hanging, so here's some brief info about what's coming:
Our scent lineup includes our most popular scents as well as some new releases:
We aren't covering the entire catalog for a few reasons:
First, certain scents have to be reformulated for an alcohol format. Some ingredients play well with oil but not with alcohol and vice-versa, and we don't want anything to separate out from the rest of the perfume. Reformulating to keep the scents consistent can take time. :)
Second, we have to grow incrementally—we're looking into a larger space to store products, but for now, we can't fit tons of big bottles in the studio.
Third, we don't have the ingredients yet! A larger size and different diluent mean that we need more of each ingredient to make the scent smell just as strong. Increasing the volume of our ingredients will also be an incremental process.
But if you'd like to suggest particular scents (even out-of-season) that you'd love to see in an alcohol format, you can let us know here!
Thank you for putting up with this giant update! As always, we're excited to grow with you, and we are very thankful for your patience with all the tinkering :)
Have a warm, relax-under-the-sky kind of day 💕

2023.05.30 20:41 LadyWarrior73 Diagnosis To Denial To Answers To Acceptance: My Journey

TLDR: It's been a VERY long journey for me to FINALLY accept that this is just where I'm at: living with fibromyalgia. In one day this forum has given me answers that I've searched YEARS for! THANK YOU ALL!
Ok, so where do I even begin? For anyone who is interested in the journey itself, you may want to settle in, because it's been a VERY LONG journey!
I have had medical problems for much of my life. I was born with medical issues, and by the time I was 18 months old I had gone through multiple surgeries.
When I was 7, I had to have my tonsils removed. I had always been skinny up until this point. After this surgery I would never be considered skinny again.
I started my period when I was 9, and had painful complications from the very beginning that lasted until I was 39- that story will come in just a moment.
In middle school, I jumped over the benches in the locker room and dislocated BOTH of my kneecaps.
In high school, I had a viral infection in my chest cavity and I almost died.
In my 20's I really started struggling with my weight gain, for no apparent reason. Nothing had changed, with the exception of changing my birth control pills. I had kidney stones twice- one time I passed it, the second time I had to have surgery. I also started developing skin rashes that were almost unbearable. I went to numerous dermatologists, who prescribed numerous medications. Nothing subsided it. Then it went away. For a while.
In my early 30's I had to have surgery for endometriosis. Then we went through several years of fertility treatments of various kinds, because we were not able to conceive. (One skinny little man doctor told me I just needed to lose weight and then I would conceive. My husband was FURIOUS! He ate twice the amount I ate- overeating was NOT the problem! Needless to say, I never went back to that doctor again!) Then when I did conceive, I was not able to carry the baby past a few weeks because my progesterone level was so low. I would also have multiple bouts of the rash that was nearly unbearable to tolerate. There were times I could not even wear a bra, it was so uncomfortable.
Eventually, we ended up adopting our 5 kids from the foster care system.
In my mid 30's I had to have surgery for a deviated septum. And surgery for an esophageal ring. I was still having massive issues with my periods and the rash had come back with full force, breaking out from the top of my breast all the way down to my knees. I scratched so much I left scars, and even ruined our mattress and sheets from scratching in the middle of the night. I had a biopsy on my breast to see if the rash was cancer. It was not.
A VERY long story short- a new dermatologist was perplexed after multiple visits, and at one point went searching into big black tome of a medical history book. She FINALLY diagnosed me with Auto-Immune Progesterone Dermatitis. I had never heard of it. At the time, there were only 50 cases in the world documented in the big black home of a medical history book. (I have since found out that while it is not common, it's not as rare as only 50 documented cases.
Within two days of my diagnosis, one of my best friends watched one of the mystery medical shows and heard about Auto-Immune Progesterone Dermatitis. The lady on the show almost died from it.
Eventually, I would finally be approved for a complete hysterectomy, AND at the exact same time, the gastric sleeve weight loss surgery. I had the surgery the day before my 39th birthday. It was the BEST birthday present I could have ever received! It did not solve all of my problems, but at least I would not have painful periods anymore!
In either 2011 or 2012, I wad diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was put out with the diagnosis. I knew several people who had been given this diagnosis, and they never received any real answers. Some of their doctors treated them like they were crazy, while other doctors just threw medication at them. So I was determined I would not accept the diagnosis. I knew I had real pain, but no one could give me a source or cause of the pain. I needed to know what caused the pain, and I most certainly didn't want to just pop pills to cover the pain.
Over the years I've tried to treat my pain as naturally as possible, including with CBD oil, which did help, and vitamins and minerals. The only thing I can honestly say TRULY helps in this regard is Magnesium. I take much larger quantities than are a normal dose.
Fast forward to December of last year (2022). I got sick. And I just could not get over it. Then in January of this year I found a lump in my breast. There is family history of breast cancer, so I got to the doctor as quick as possible. Thankfully, it did not show anything, but that just led to more questions. So my GP referred me to a rheumatologist, who then referred me to a: physical therapist, dermatologist, gastroenterologist, cardiologist, and neurologist. Since January I have practically lived in doctor's offices!
At my last rheumatology appointment, she told me we had to address the topic I keep avoiding and dismissing. Fibromyalgia. I have been living with so much pain, not sleeping well, and just generally not well. I am a fighter (hence, my name- LadyWarrior), and I don't just lay over and let things happen to me. I told her I just wasn't ready to go down that road, because I know all that can be done is poking medicine at the problem, and I want actual answers. She told me that eventually we would have to have the tough conversation.
When I went back for all of my test results from the neurologist, I found out that I have neuropathy, carpal tunnel, and issues with my C6 and C8 vertebrae. It doesn't warrant surgery, thankfully, and can be treated with medication. This is great- with the exception that they are mood stabilizers that are also used for nerve pain. I'm sure most everyone here is familiar with Cymbalta and Gabapentin.
I do still have pain, but at least I am sleeping well and actually resting. The BIG problem is I also have WILD and VERY VIVID dreams! So many of the dreams are concerning my past, past relationships, and are just very troubling. I have toyed with wanting to tell my doctor I want to get off of the medications. I have a rheumatology appointment next week, and I really think I want to explore pain management, which she said would be possible whenever I am ready.
Then I found this forum yesterday.
I read several posts regarding trauma being a possible cause/root of fibromyalgia. And everything started making more sense! I have never heard of this connection and correlation, but I have experienced quite a bit of trauma in my life. I was sexually assaulted at 14. I married the first time very young (19), and neither one of us were mature or ready to be married. We were married 8 and a half years and then he killed himself in front of me. Trauma does not even begin to describe what I experienced. Infertility was traumatic. I married a man that is beyond my wildest dreams- a true lover of my heart, soul, mind, and body. Every curve life has thrown at us, he is with me a million percent! Adoption was traumatic. Parenting kids from the foster care system was traumatic. Our middle son caused us tremendous problems, even to the point of filing false child abuse charges against us multiple times. We went through 7 CPS investigations with him! Thankfully, not only has our marriage survived parenting adopted kids, we have thrived and grown stronger together, because we are truly committed to this life together, no matter how traumatic it is.
But I'm a warrior. I just keep on fighting, no matter what life throws at me. And now, my body is shutting down. I can no longer push through the pain like I have been able to all of these years. And with the medication I actually sleep during the day, as well as at night. I don't like that aspect of it, but at least I am resting. But, I am still in pain.
So that is the long and short of my journey up til now. When I told my husband that there seems to be a connection between trauma and fibromyalgia, he took a long, deep breath, and started processing it with me. It all makes sense now! We knew the pain was real! We just wanted answers!
Thank you, to each of you who are here! Thank you for being vulnerable and open!
I pray each one of you find the peace of mind, heart, soul, and body that you need to be whole again! May the Lord bless each and every one of you! I have found my tribe!

2023.05.30 20:28 NewYearsD A Detailed Post-Trip Report 2 Weeks in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka) 28/M/US

I spent 2 weeks traveling through Japan - Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and I'm writing this for those who are thinking about visiting. To preface, I did travel with a friend but spent a lot of time on my own. I'll cover as much as possible.
I booked a flight with American Airlines / Delta Airlines for $590 round-trip three months before departing.
I flew out of Los Angeles to Tokyo (Haneda). The trip started on February 9 and ended on February 20. I booked my accommodation before arriving in Japan. I used Hostelworld and Agoda. More about the hostels and hotels I booked are below.
COVID Screening and Visa information for US Citizens only
During the time I visited, Japan still required visitors to be fully vaccinated and have a pre-screening for arrival. First I had to do a pre-screening for American Airlines on VeriFly (please do this a day before checking in at the airport if so). Then, save yourself time and use Visit Japan Web ( and do the pre-screening requirements a couple of days before departure.
When you land in Tokyo, immediately after deplaning, swaths of airport personnel ask if you have the screener filled out and ready to go. If you don’t, they put you to the side and ask you to fill it out using the airport’s wifi. It takes time and you still have to go through customs after.
Visas for US citizens is a free, 3-month visa if I recall correctly. Bring your COVID vaccination card just in case they ask for it.
I took my iPhone 14 Pro (unlocked) and connected buying Ubigi 10gb data plan. Do this before flying to Japan. When you land, you can activate your data plan directly on your phone. I didn’t get pocket wifi as the Ubigi worked perfectly.
Download the Ubigi app. They give instructions but please follow them.
Apps that I used:
Google Maps: you can download offline maps.
Google Translate: Use this everywhere you go. You can use the camera feature and it can translate Japanese to English really great. It saved me a lot of hassle when ordering at restaurants.
Currency Converter
You might want to download a VPN if you want to use Netflix and such. Express VPN is one I’d recommend.
I took my Charles Schwab debit card and a backup Chase credit card/Chase debit card. Surprisingly, a lot of stores in Japan are cash-heavy; especially small shops and restaurants. My budget for the trip was $2000 with flights included.
Hostels and hotels were around $20-35 USD. Food prices were about $7-$20 a meal. It can get really expensive if you eat at fine dining restaurants. That being said, I stuck to eating mostly at hole-in-the-wall establishments where no English was spoken. Believe me when I say that the best ramen I ever had was only $7 USD. More on what restaurants I recommend are down below. If you really want to save money, don’t buy alcohol.
A solid budget for me was $60-$80 per day without lodging expenses. Some days, I only spent $40 which was all food (I spare no expense for food), then some days I went over because I bought cool souvenirs for myself and some excursions were pricey. You can visit Japan for less but I didn’t want to money pinch myself because I was only there for 2 weeks.
I love Japan for this reason. So here’s my take: If you are visiting Japan for exactly 14 days; get the JR Pass on Klook. You buy this a month before departing your home country. For me, Klook delivered it about a week after I bought it over Mail. You could buy either a 7, 14, or 21-day JR pass so I would recommend planning a trip that matches these exact number of days to get the most out of your money.
Now imagine you’re in Japan. It is your first day officially visiting…go to a JR Pass office at any major train station and ask them to redeem your pass. They will ask for the paper ticket that arrived in the mail to your home and they will ask for your passport. After they verify that it is you, they will give you a small ticket which will be your JR pass. DO NOT LOSE THIS! I believe they will not replace it. On how to use it, check out this video.
Now to navigate, I used a combination of Google Maps and Apple Maps to get around. Use whichever one is more comfortable for you. These 2 apps are really exceptional at mapping out the best routes and the times trains depart. Note: the JR Pass only works for JR rail lines! Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka all have their own subways and train lines with their own payment system. More on this…
So the best way to get around the city is using a Suica card. These are sold virtually at any train station. If you can't find it, ask a train station attendant and say “Suica?”. They point you in the right direction.
A Suica card can be refilled unlimited times and can be used for any rail lines (JR included, but not for Bullet Trains). It is used by tapping at the turnstiles to enter the rails and at any vending machine in Japan! Also at arcades! It is a total mindblower haha Also in Tokyo, some hostels or hotels have a 3-day subway pass for cheap.
Bullet Trains - You can use the Shinkansen bullet trains if you have the JR Pass. Make an important note: You can only ride the Hikari or Sakura trains with your JR Pass. The Nozomi and Mizuho are reserved seating and cost extra because they have fewer stops. If they catch you using these rail lines, they will ask you to get off the next stop or worse, fine you and report you. To see Mount Fuji from Tokyo to Kyoto/Osaka, sit on the right side of the train (right side of the direction it is going). Use Google Maps and Apple Maps to pinpoint when to look out the window.
I usually ate sandwiches and pastries from 7-Eleven in the morning or whenever I needed to pack a lunch. It was a great way to save cash and the food was delicious. High-quality foods and snacks.
As I said earlier, I really spare no expense for good, big meals. I save money at 7-Eleven so I can go all out for lunch and dinner. My go-to meal was usually ramen because it was so damn good. I tried a lot of foods. I’ll try and remember which ones I ate: - Ramen - Okonomiyaki - Unagi - Katsu Curry - Taiyaki - Tempura - Japanese cheesecake - Macha ice cream - Macha waffles - Onigiri - And a lot of different ice creams, confectionary snacks - McDonald’s - please try lol they have interesting combinations
Pack List
I used a 40-liter Osprey backpack.
1 scarf
1 beanie
2 cotton t-shirts
2 thermal polyester long-sleeve shirts (Odor resistant)
2 pairs of joggers
1 pair of Nike thermal leggings
8 pairs of Nike Dri-Fit boxers (lost 1)
4 pairs of ankle socks
3 pairs of Darn Tough Merino wool blend socks (Highly recommend, Odor resistant)
1 parka
1 pair of Adidas Ultraboost shoes
1 Hershel toiletries bag
2 Forge cable combination locks
External battery pack (13000 mAh)
Bose QC-25 noise-canceling headphones
Over the course of the trip, I bought a much-needed 30L Patagonia day backpack
I don’t sweat heavily so I re-wore my shirts, the Merino wool blend socks, and joggers. I did my laundry maybe once or twice at the hostels. It was freezing at the time I went, so I usually layered up when temperatures were lower than usual.
I am a 6'1" (1.85 m) male with a light brown complexion. I felt safe most of my time there. I think it was the safest country I have ever been to. Some Japanese people are known to be racist but I didn’t experience it. So I wouldn’t worry about it.
Feb 9 Day 1 Tokyo Feb 10 Day 2 Tokyo Feb 11 Day 3 Tokyo (Day Trip to Odiaba/Yokohama) Feb 12 Day 4 Osaka Feb 13 Day 5 Osaka (Day Trip to Hime-ji Castle/Kobe) Feb 14 Day 6 Osaka (Day Trip to Nara) Feb 15 Day 7 Kyoto Feb 16 Day 8 Kyoto Feb 17 Day 9 Kyoto Feb 18 Day 10 Tokyo Feb 19 Day 11 Tokyo Feb 20 Day 12 Tokyo (Fly Out)

Tips, Advice, and Bonus Stuff!
  1. Goes without saying but please respect the local customs.
  2. Please learn how to say “Thank You” in Japanese! Just learning and using “Arigato” anywhere you go will make you seem like you care and respect everyone. Nothing was more embarrassing than watching an American say “thank you” to a Japanese person.
  3. Plan to do the major tourist attractions early in the morning. You will get nice pictures without any tourists and you’ll sometimes get the whole temple complex to yourself. The staff will also be more friendly and willing to chat with you. I usually aim to be at temples around 7:00 when they open.
  4. Use Google Translate for everything! You can have full conversations with friendly Japanese people when using the conversation feature on the app! Use the camera feature to translate Kanji at restaurants that do not offer an English menu.
  5. Get a Ubigi data plan, I bought 10GB and it had good service anywhere I went. Get more GB if you plan on staying longer.
  6. I ate at 7-Eleven most of the time when I was too lazy or tired to go out. The 7-Elevens here in Japan are nothing like the ones in the US. Expect to find high-quality sandwiches, Onigiri, and more Japanese snacks.
  7. Shop at supermarkets near the end of the day (1 hour before closing) and they usually mark down prepped meals half-off or at a discounted price! If you really on a budget, this can help you to save a ton of money and still get a taste of the local cuisine.
  8. If you need to buy random stuff like clothes, bags, or toiletries; go shop at any Don Quijote or Tokyu Hands department store. They have other shops too that are great to find cool stuff.
  9. Use Google Translate to translate English to Kanji (Japanese) and use Kanji to find restaurants that are hidden because they don’t use English words. For example, if you want to find the best ramen place, search “拉麺” and you’ll find hidden gems with 5-star reviews!
  10. The best souvenir I brought back myself was a Goshuincho. These are “honorable stamp/seal book” used by people visiting shrines or temples. If you want more info, google this! I highly recommend doing this!
If you have any questions, comment below or send a DM. Peace!

The 61st edition of the TOP500 shows the Frontier system to remain the only true exascale machine with an HPL score of 1.194 Exaflop/s.
The Frontier system at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA remains the No. 1 system on the TOP500 and is still the only system reported with an HPL performance exceeding one Exaflop/s. Frontier brought the pole position back to the USA one year ago on the June 2022 listing with an HPL score of 1.194 Exaflop/s.
Frontier is based on the latest HPE Cray EX235a architecture and equipped with AMD EPYC 64C 2GHz processors. The system has 8,699,904 total cores, a power efficiency rating of 52.59 gigaflops/watt, and relies on Slingshot-11 interconnect for data transfer.
The top position was previously held from June 2020 until November 2021 by the Fugaku system at the RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) in Kobe, Japan. With its HPL benchmark score of 442 Pflop/s, Fugaku is now listed as No. 2.
The LUMI system at EuroHPC/CSC in Finland entered the list in June 2022 at No. 3. It is listed as No. 3 after an upgrade of the system last november and has an HPL score of 309.1 Pflop/s. With this it remains the largest system in Europe.
The Leonardo system at EuroHPC/CINECA in Italy was first listed six month ago at No. 4. It was upgraded as well and remains No. 4 with an improved HPL score of 239 Pflop/s. It is based on the Atos BullSequana XH2000 architecture.
The No. 1 spot on the GREEN500 was again earned by the Henri system at the Flatiron Institute in New York City, United States, with an energy efficiency of 65.40 Gflops/Watt. What’s more, improvements to the system allowed it to achieve an impressive jump on the TOP500 list from the No. 405 spot to No. 255 with a current HPL score of 2.88 Pflop/s – an increase over last list’s score of 2.038 Pflop/s. Henri has 8,288 and is a Lenovo ThinkSystem SR670 with Intel Xeon Platinum and Nvidia H100.
The No. 2 spot was achieved by the Frontier Test & Development System (TDS) at ORNL in the United States with an energy efficiency rating of 62.20 Gflops/Watt. The Frontier TDS system is simply a single rack identical to the actual Frontier system and has an HPL score of 19.2 Pflop/s.
The No. 3 spot was taken by the Adastra system. A HPE Cray EX235a system with AMD EPYC and AMD Instinct MI250X.
Additionally, the actual Frontier system deserves an honorable mention in terms of its energy efficiency. Despite its No.1 spot on the TOP500 list with an HPL score of 1.194 Eflop/s, this machine was still able to achieve a No. 6 spot on the GREEN500 with an energy efficiency rating of 52.59 Gflops/Watt.
The HPL performance of each of these systems proves that immense power does not have to come at the cost of inefficient energy usage.

2023.05.30 19:57 generaljohntastic Need help to avoid getting dug deeper in the hole.

2021 Was an interesting year. I moved out of my parent's house because I just got hired full-time at a non-profit, but they were moving to a different city. The rent in Miami on the edge of what's affordable. The rent is about 115% of my bi-weekly check, and I didn't have any savings before moving out since I was just hired, so I had to take out a loan with one of those loan services to cover the cost of moving. My parents weren't and aren't in a position to help. With rent, the loan and it's interest, and basic costs of living (food, laundry, gas/insurance), I'm unable to set aside any savings. By mid 2022 I sold my car and switched to being a cyclist for many reasons, but to save on Gas/Insurance was a major part and that helped. I've been slowly paying off the loan, and so unable to put anything in savings, however last month I forgot to pay on time in May for rent, and it's caught up with me. Basically, I pay rent via Zelle early in the month, and use anything extra after food and other needs to make extra payments on my debt, but since I didn't pay May's rent when I thought I did now we're getting close to June. I got a text from my landlord today letting me know May wasn't paid and sure enough I didn't, but since I've paid toward the loan, I'm short what's due from May, and even if I had it, then I will definitely be short for June.

I'm living as responsibly as possible right now. Not buying unnecessary items or raking up huge CC bills, Rice and Beans meal prep basically every day, and I'll get out of this situation in probably a year's time, but this month I'm stuck. I'm worried that if I go back to that loan service and have to take out an even bigger loan (to pay off my current balance and still have enough for rent for 2 months) the interest will make it impossible for me to ever get out. If I have to take out another loan, I'll end up in debt for years when I'm so close to working my way out of it.

I just need some help this month so I can avoid taking out any loans, and then I'll be back on track to work my way out of this mess. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm on venmo @ SettlesJohn or CashApp $settlesjohn

2023.05.30 19:31 TheRoadDog87 Advice on how to properly restore neglected hot tub to safe conditions?

Hello and thank you in advance for any advice.
In early 2022 I bought a great hot tub and we got a lot of use out of it last year. It was a huge hit at our NYE party ~6 months ago now. Problem is... that's the last time we used it or maintained the chemicals or anything for it. The water had just been sitting there collecting build up and growth.
Please refrain from guilt tripping us. We know we should have been better and we pledge to do better going forward. Work and life got crazy and we simply just didn't go in our back yard for 6 months and honestly sort of forgot the hot tub was there.
I'm sure you could imagine there was significant build up around the filters and the covers. I emptied it and started wiping down the fixtures to remove all gunk and growths. I'm concerned that since we can see plenty of build up on the external seats and whatnot, there is probably build up in the areas we can't see as well.
What should we do to make sure the hot tub is safe to use again? My current plan from unfruitful Google searches is to scrub what I can and clean what I can physically. Then refill hot tub and use harsh/strong cleaners to try to flush the pipes and kill whatever has been growing underneath. Then empty and clean again, as many times as necessary. Specific products or steps or advice is greatly appreciated.
