Aeon was a restless god. They were everywhere and nowhere. They were the barren rocks, the howling wind, and the raging volcanoes. Millennia of silence and isolation was comforting until the day it wasn’t. It was time to satisfy their boredom.
Tectonic plates awoke from their slumber—mountain ranges crashed into the air while unimaginably deep chasms split apart elsewhere. They willed an atmosphere into existence, filling it with nitrogen, oxygen, and all the elements needed to support life. Dusty, lifeless deserts became vast oceans.
Aeon focused their magical power to create life, starting with single-celled organisms, then basic fungi and plant life. It wasn’t good enough. Straining themselves further, they created forests with towering trees, oceans of vibrant sea creatures, and plains of majestic animals.
The conditions were nearly perfect to satisfy their restlessness. With a final concentration of will, they began to create sapient life. Hurricanes swallowed islands, earthquakes devoured mountains. When Aeon was finished, elves, orcs, and humans populated their surface. Eager to meet their first creations, they took the form of a beautiful elf and delivered the final recipe for sapience.
“Within this chalice, I hold the wine of my life-essence.” Hundreds of awed elves emerged from their wooden huts and watched Aeon with fear and admiration. “Drink from it and magic most arcane will flow through your veins.” The leader of the elf tribe stepped forward, only to be stopped by Aeon raising a single finger. “But take heed: the more who drink from this chalice, the more diluted its effects become.” They handed the elven leader the chalice, then vanished in a flash of light.
The elves proved their fairness and generosity by sharing the tiniest drops among the tribe, even spreading the wine to neighboring tribes. Centuries passed and every elf on Aeon’s surface contained trace amounts of their magic. While no one possessed a titan’s magical strength, artists could see a beautiful painting, fully formed before their brush touched the canvas. Hunters could use their minds to make tiny shifts in space, severing an important synapse in a stag’s brain to make it drop dead from a hundred feet away. With Aeon’s magic, the elves began to spread across their continent.
Aeon appeared before a roaming band of orcs as a giant with arms like tree trunks and legs that could step over rivers. They presented the orcs with a blood-filled skull and explained its incomprehensible power and limitations. The allure of near-limitless strength sent the band of orcs into a frenzy. Strong turned on the weak and infirm. Brothers and sisters split each other apart with axes and clubs. Aeon watched with curious fascination.
At last, one orc remained from the band; she was lying on the ground with a bloodied knife in her hand, mortal wounds covering her body. Aeon knelt down and pressed the skull to her lips, allowing her to drain the blood from it. Her wounds healed up and closed, color returned to her face. She jumped off the ground and slammed her fists together, making a thunderclap that could be heard across Aeon’s surface. With grim resolution, she left the trail of dead friends and loved ones behind her, walking in a straight line towards the nearest band of orcs.
Delighting in the differences between the elves and orcs, Aeon was eager to see how the humans would divide their gift. They vanished and reappeared on a continent thousands of miles away in the form of a human as beautiful as they were strong. The humans beneath Aeon looked up with fear, awe, and admiration. “In my hand, I hold a tankard of nectar. Anyone who drinks from it will experience powers beyond their wildest fantasies, but the more who drink, the lesser its power. How will you divide this gift?”
The humans’ faces became serious and grim. They retreated to a large animal-skin tent in the center of their tiny village for a moment of privacy, as if Aeon wasn’t the ground beneath their feet and the skin on their bones. Arguments ebbed and flowed like the tide, some wanting to divide it like the elves, others demanding to use it to dominate others like the orcs. Eventually, a quiet opinion gained more and more voices around the table—reject Aeon’s gift outright.
Aeon flashed with rage at their arrogance, and a tsunami killed thousands of living creatures elsewhere on their surface. Then, they calmed themselves. If humanity wished to have no part in true sapience, then they will be the ones to reap the consequences. The humans left the tent to deliver their decision, but Aeon had already disappeared, taking the nectar with them.
Centuries passed. Elves built towering cities of marble and sailed to the furthest corners of Aeon’s lands. A seemingly immortal orc built an empire atop a mound of skulls and shaped mountains to mark her conquests. Aeon reveled at the chaos and beauty of their gifts. Meanwhile, the humans stagnated, still fumbling with rubbing sticks together on cold winter nights and struggling with their bows in dark forests.
Seasons came and went. Orcs used humans as slave labor and battlefield fodder to advance their war machine. Even the fair elves drove them from nearby forests and plains to make way for their architectural projects. But something happened on a distant continent that drew Aeon’s fascination. Without the last step on the path to sapience, a human tribe began planting seeds in the ground. Aeon was in a curious mood, so they bestowed humanity with a balance of rain and sunshine that year. Word of this new technique spread outwards like a spider’s web, and there were soon hundreds of tribes and communities who traded the bow and arrow for the plow and scythe.
Aeon focused their attention on the unpredictable humans, ignoring the ever-expanding borders of the orc empire or the elven spires growing taller than the tallest trees. Language was written onto stone, clay, and papyrus. Tribes banded together for security. Cultures formed. All without the need of Aeon’s magic. Their temper flared again as they considered wiping out the dangerous upstarts for breaking the laws of magic and reality. Crops withered in an intense drought and entire cities faded away from starvation. Aeon reminded themselves that this was exactly what they had been waiting for—a cure to their boredom, something different. And so the drought ended.
Orcs and elves hit their peak and fell into stagnation. Elven numbers reached a point where their magical blood was so diluted that it was indistinguishable from having no magic at all. Descendants lived amongst glimmering towers and vast road networks, unable to recreate the engineering talent of their ancestors. The borders of the orcs grew too vast for one immortal tyrant to rule. Rebellions, invasions, and intrigue plagued her everywhere she wasn’t. But still, humans grew and expanded.
From mountains to marshlands, savannahs to snowy tundras, humanity made the slow march of progress. Aeon pushed their boundaries to test their reactions. A deadly plague would pile bodies high and turn neighbors against each other. Flashes of their infinite power would spawn cults and holy wars that set cities ablaze. They would even find particularly greedy humans and grant them a drop of magic, spawning tyrants that spread evil worse than any miasma. No matter how much humanity stumbled, they always recovered with more strength than before.
By the time the elves and orcs had taken serious notice of the upstarts, it was too late. Human nation-states befriended wealthy elven kingdoms and rebellious orcish tribes, and waged war against those who would oppose them when strong. Aeon felt their life-essence drain from the once-immortal orc when she was defeated by an army of humans, elves, and orc rebels.
The wheel of birth, life, and death had been turning on Aeon’s surface since the birth of gods. Creatures were created, they accepted Aeon’s magic, and as millennia passed, they crumbled into extinction. Quick deaths, slow deaths, it would come all the same. But human influence spread across the surface with no sign of slowing. Technology, culture, and civilization advanced. They worked with elves to rebuild their crumbling cities taller than ever before. Human diplomats brokered peace between fractured orc tribes in the absence of their tyrannical ruler. And the three races, each of them now devoid of magic, continued moving toward an unknown future.
Aeon’s experiment had gone on long enough. It was time to end it before humans, orcs, and elves grew too powerful. An unstoppable plague spread to wipe out all life. The three species worked together to create vaccines to stop it. Earthquakes leveled cities across the surface and killed millions. They built cities atop the rubble designed to sway in motion like blades of grass. Soil turned to ash. They perfected hydroponic farming and water recycling techniques.
Century after century, none of Aeon’s actions could permanently destroy the creatures on their surface. They felt an emotion they had never felt in their existence: fear.

Lines on display on a brand new Lenovo Legion
I've had my Legion 5 Pro for less than a week and I already have a replacement on the way because of a bad display(?).
The only thing I can point to that seemed to cause the issue was the Seamless Transitions plugin in Premiere Pro. Every other time I would use it in a project, the computer would freeze (even the mouse pointer wouldn't move). The first two times this happened, I shut the computer off using the power button, but the following two times, I let the computer stay frozen for a while, which is when I noticed the computer would come back online after a few seconds. Initially, the monitor view and several other parts of programs would be blacked out so I would have to restart the programs (I assume this means the display/graphics card crashed?). The fourth time this happened is when it left these lines on my display that flicker and that are present even in the BIOS which the reps said pointed to a hardware issue and got me a replacement.
This is obviously very annoying because of the time I have to take out of my schedule to set up a new laptop, but I also saw that other people were experiencing similar display issues with Lenovo Legions and now I'm concerned about it happening again. Obviously there is a bit of a selection bias if I'm looking for it, and since the people who are having no issues are probably not making posts about how awesome the laptops are, but is this a known issue with Lenovo or did I just get unlucky?
I'm going to keep using the same effects to try and reproduce the issue on the new laptop.

Hey all, so in the middle of a rewatch of Charmed, just finished Season 6, and that always gives me some thoughts on Phoebe’s powers.
Phoebe gets her Empathy power at the start of the season. This quickly becomes one of the most powerful powers that any of the sisters possess. She quickly learns she can channel others powers, even being able to channel Piper’s, to send demon’s powers back at them. She is also like a human lie detector and can in some ways read people’s minds by reading their emotion.
Immediately, partway through the season first the sisters and Chris take the “empath blocking potion” (which does not make much sense because 2 episodes later she is reading them) then she proceeds to lose all her powers in Crimes and Witch Demeanors.
Do you think the writers realized mid season that they gave her way too powerful of a power, or too much of a plot hurdle so they “nerfed” her? Because she never gets the power back on the series that we see?
Side note, never was clear whether she got levitation back or not. - Now I get Phoebe is a martial artist so the levitation enhanced her fighting ability but that her getting that power never made sense to me. To me, would have made way more sense for her to get Astral Projection, and Prue to get levitation.
What do you guys think?

Hi there Planetmans!
Following the introduction of the new class-specific abilities, I thought I would have some fun coming up with some concepts to fill out the roster for all the other classes across the factions. I think that creating more diversity between the factions is a good thing, as it makes fighting against each faction a more unique experience, rather than the same experience but with a different colour!
Keep in mind that I did this just for a fun little game design challenge. Some ideas may be under or over powered and that's fine! I am under no illusion that any of this will make it into the game (though if this inspires any developers out there, you're welcome)!
With that said, here's what I came up with!

INFILTRATOR

NC: Field Binoculars (Tool Slot)
"The Field Binoculars improve vision (note: increased FOV and toggleable-magnification) and highlights enemy infantry and vehicles. Automatically spots non-cloaked infantry and vehicles within the target reticle (circle) up to 500m/600m/650m/700m/800m away. While a vehicle is within the target reticle of the Field Binoculars, highlights that vehicle for your allies, improving lockon speed by 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds."
TR: Cloaking Jammer (Tool Slot)
"While deployed, increases the visibility of enemy cloaked infantry and vehicles within 20 meters. Lasts 120/150/180/210/240 seconds. Only one Cloaking Jammer may be placed at a time."

Hey all!
I homebrewed some "Invocations" (Actually, they're Occultist Rites, from Kibbles fantastic homebrew. They work just like Warlock invocations.) The idea behind these invocations, is to allow a character to learn them as part of their class progression (and possibly as bonus feats from the DM, if the character does the right quests!)
The goal is to fulfill this fantasy of slowly changing their body to become some sort of draconic humanoid.
One thing I did with these, is that they work in 3 Tiers. You can't learn Tier 3 rites unless you learned multiple Tier 2, and you can't learn Tier 2 unless you learned multiple Tier 1. This means that a character needs to invest significantly in this feature if they want to get the best stuff.
Lastly, I tried to make design these rites in such a way that they could benefit multiple types of character. After all, any character can do the right quests (mentioned above) to unlock these perks, and any character can get trade in an ASI to learn one of these rites.
So, that's the intro. Here are the rites :

Tier 1 Dragon Rites

Tier 1 Dragon Rites are a stepping stone towards becoming a true, terrifying dragonkin. These Rites barely change the character’s appearance if at all, but bring them closer to the draconic nature they may seek.

Dragon Focus

You can now use a dragon’s innate spellcasting ability instead of a conventional focus for your Occultist spells. You no longer need a free hand to cast spells with somatic or material components. Instead, a dragon’s head appears over your head while casting using this feature (casting in this way does not remove the visual signs of casting a spell, it merely means you do not need a free hand).

Dragon eyes

You can cast detect magic at will, without expending a spell slot or material components.

Dragon Glamour

Prerequisite: 3rd level
As an action, you can transform your appearance for one hour. You decide what you look like, including your height, weight, facial Features, sound of your voice, hair length, coloration, and distinguishing Characteristics, if any. You can make yourself appear as a member of another race, though none of your Statistics change. You also don't appear as a creature of a different size than you, and your basic shape stays the same, if you're bipedal, you can't use this spell to become quadrupedal, for instance.
After using this ability, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

Dragon Presence

Your draconic presence exudes a terror in the hearts of your enemies. As an action, you force each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + proficiency bonus + Charisma modifier). On a failed save, a creature becomes frightened of you for 1 minute. The frightened creature can repeat this saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
After using this ability, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Tier 2 Dragon Rites

Tier 2 Dragon Rites, one learned, visually change the characters’ appearance, granting them benefits.
However, learning a tier 2 Dragon Rite requires the character to have already began their transition towards dragonkind. As such, before learning any Tier 2 Dragon Rite, a character must already know 3 Tier 1 Dragon Rites.

Dragon Claws

Your hands and feet are replaced with powerful dragon claws. You can use these as weapons if they are empty. Each claw deals 1d6 slashing damage on a hit. Once on each of your turns when you attack with a claw using the Attack action, you can make one additional claw attack as part of the same action.

Dragon Scales

When you learn this rite, you must choose one of the following : Acid, Lightning, Fire, Poison or Cold. You gain resistance to damage of that type.

Dragon Wings

You sprout a pair of dragon wings from your back. You can use them to grant yourself a flying speed equal to your current speed for 10 minutes. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus.
You regain all uses of this ability at the end of a long rest.

Dragon Tail

You grow a lashing, spiny tail, which you can attack with as a weapon. It deals 1d8 piercing damage on a hit and has the reach property. If a creature you can see within 10 feet of you hits you with an attack roll, you can use your reaction to swipe your tail and roll a d8, applying a bonus to your AC equal to the number rolled, potentially causing the attack to miss you.

Tier 3 Dragon Rites

Tier 3 Dragon Rites are the peak of draconic ascension. In order to learn one of these Rites, you must first learn at least 6 Tier 1 or Tier 2 Dragon Rites.
Learning any of these Rites transforms the character : Their transformation is complete, and for all intents and purposes, they are considered a Dragon.

Dragon Blood

Prerequisite : Dragon Scales
You learned to alchemically change your blood into that of a dragon. This grants you immunity to the same energy type chosen for the Dragon Scales Rite.

Dragon Hoard

No dragon is complete without its treasure, and you make no exception. Your power and pride grows along with your Hoard’s value, and you will fight with ferocity to protect it.
On your turn, you can enter a Draconic Rage as a bonus action.
While raging, you gain the following benefits :
If you are able to cast Spells, you can’t cast them or concentrate on them while raging.
Your rage lasts for 1 minute. It ends early if you are knocked unconscious. You can also end your rage on your turn as a bonus action.
You can use this ability a number of times determined by the value of your Hoard. For each 500g worth of weapon, armor, jewelry, or other equipment that you have on your person, you gain one use of this ability (minimum 1).
You regain all uses of this ability at the end of a long rest.
Additionally, your senses improve, and you gain the ability to cast the Locate Object spell at will, but only on objects that are worth 1/10th of your hoard or more.

Dragon Breath

When you learn this rite, you must choose one of the following : Acid, Lightning, Fire, Poison or Cold.
You can use your action to exhale destructive energy of the chosen type in a 30-foot cone. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 3d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level.
You can use your breath weapon a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all uses when you complete a long rest.

2023.03.29 17:38 WotC_BenFinkel A Bug to Pierce Flesh and Spirit Alike - The Story Behind the Citizen’s Crowbar and Ninja’s Kunai Bug

As many are aware by now, the Shadows over Innistrad: Remastered release on March 21st introduced an unfortunate bug to Magic: The Gathering Arena. This bug affected many cards that confer an ability that mentions the title of the conferring card, such as [[Citizen's Crowbar]] and [[Ninja's Kunai]].
Equipped creature gets +1/+1 and has "{oW}, {oT}, Sacrifice Citizen's Crowbar: Destroy target artifact or enchantment."
Equipped creature has "{1}, {T}, Sacrifice Ninja's Kunai: Ninja's Kunai deals 3 damage to any target."
Instead of sacrificing the conferring object, these abilities sacrificed all permanents controlled by the ability's controller. In Kunai's case, this was also followed up by each of the sacrificed objects dealing 3 damage to the target.
...ouch. What is happening? Why is it happening? How did we miss this happening? Well, do we have a story for you!
The story of how this bug came about requires some background in how MTG Arena is coded. Join me as I break down and explain the most relevant aspects here along with what we learned.
Much of our rules engine code is machine-generated: we use a natural-language processing solution to interpret the English words on the card and create code (this is an article, or a series thereof, by itself!). This has two relevant features: one, every release involves a new generation of all the code that comes from card text - we don't just freeze the original parsed code. Two, due to being machine-generated, many components of the card behavior code are highly generic, as this example will illustrate. The buggy component that arose here is a code snippet (called a Rule in the language we use) responsible for identifying what resources are available to pay a cost, named ProposeEffectCostResource. Every card text that involves non-mana costs has its own version of this Rule:
Let's put a pin in ProposeEffectCostResource for now to discuss self-referential cards. In the Theros Beyond Death expansion, [[Heliod's Punishment]] was introduced, which was MTG Arena's first card that involved a self-reference in a conferred ability ("Remove a task counter from Heliod's Punishment", "destroy Heliod's Punishment").
Enchanted creature can't attack or block. It loses all abilities and has "{oT}: Remove a task counter from Heliod's Punishment. Then if it has no task counters on it, destroy Heliod's Punishment."
This is quite tricky! Most abilities that include a self-reference mean "this card", or perhaps "the card that put this ability on the stack". Heliod's Punishment attached to your [[Runeclaw Bear]] is not talking about Runeclaw Bear in its mentioning of Heliod's Punishment, even though Runeclaw Bear has the ability. So what is it talking about? It's saying "the card that conferred the ability that was activated". That is, we care about the particular ability-on-permanent to know what the self-reference means. We decided that the salient feature of these cards was that they were on Auras and Equipment and made special code to handle self-references in those cases.
Returning to the subject of effect cost resources, Streets of New Capenna introduced [[Falco Spara, Pactweaver]].
You may cast spells from the top of your library by removing a counter from a creature you control in addition to paying their other costs.
What does the ProposeEffectCostResource Rule look like here?
  1. It proposes each type of counter from among permanents you control, and it's invoked whenever you cast a spell using Falco's ability. Lovely. But what if you have multiple copies of Falco out? Legendary sure doesn't mean what it used to. . .
  2. Well, we don't want to make a separate action for each Falco you have out - we just have one action for "you're casting a particular card using a Falco ability" - we don't keep track of which ability-on-a-Falco is responsible, as it's irrelevant (and if it were displayed, perhaps misleading to a player!). But we ran into a problem here...
  3. Even though only one Falco ability is relevant for the action, ALL of them were using their cost payment Rules for that action. Your selection of a counter was filled up redundantly, and when you picked one, each Falco would remove that type of counter from the permanent you chose.
Still with us? Great – also, we're hiring.
So, we made the decision to decouple the ProposeEffectCostResource Rule from abilities-on-cards, and instead have them associated with just the ability text - all the Falcos have the same ability text, so the Rule executes only once. Our work for the conferred-self-reference stuff for Heliod's Punishment stepped in a later part of writing this Rule, so it reintroduced the ability-on-card to the Rule, and everything was awesome.
But then along came Mean Old [[Gutter Grime]] in Shadows over Innistrad: Remastered.
Whenever a nontoken creature you control dies, put a slime counter on Gutter Grime, then create a green Ooze creature token with "This creature's power and toughness are each equal to the number of slime counters on Gutter Grime."
And thus, the bug: Such cost-resource Rules for conferred self-referencing abilities lose track of the relevant ability. They now proposed resources without that constraint. For "sacrifice", there's still the constraints of "it's on the battlefield" and "you control it", but costs that don't involve a user selection are simply paid by using, well ... all of the qualified resources.
And with Ninja's Kunai, there's actually two different self-references in its conferred ability: * "Sacrifice Ninja's Kunai." This first one is the type we've been talking about, meaning "the card that conferred this ability". * "Ninja's Kunai deals 3 damage to any target" This second self-reference is interpreted to mean "the permanent that was sacrificed." This explains the... explosive nature of Kunai's bug: each of the sacrificed permanents is interpreted to be that latter "Ninja's Kunai", so each of them deals damage. This feature is usually useful (examples: [[Nightmare Shepherd]] triggering on a Mutated creature dying, [[Skyclave Apparition]] dying after its enters-the-battlefield ability triggered twice due to [[Panharmonicon]]).
In Ian's article, we celebrated our over 3000 regression tests, run every night to ward against releasing buggy code. You may wonder how we didn't catch this. Writing a regression test requires a good deal of effort and thought, since they take the form of scripted games of Magic: The Gathering using our rules engine. Some of these tests take over a day to write. Even the simplest ones involve at least 15 minutes of effort to ideate, write, and validate. That may not sound like a lot of time, until you multiply it by the hundreds of cards in each major card set. Therefore, we don't create such tests for every new card on MTG Arena – we focus on the cards that required specific developer effort to work correctly. For everything else, our (human) QA team tests newly added cards at the beginning of a set's implementation, and again before release. It's unreasonable to expect them to also test every other card we've ever shipped with each and every release!
With a project this big and a game this complex, bugs are inevitable. It's still truly disheartening when they're as impactful as this one, especially knowing how hard my team works to prevent them from happening. Now that we've fixed this bug, the fix's verification is part of our regression test suite. We're also already reconsidering our code analysis methodology so we can be more confident we're not wrecking old cards' behaviors by implementing new ones, making this sort of situation rarer in the first place. Last, but certainly not least - I will also continue to be incredibly proud and impressed by the work my team has produced for this game.

My first real woodworking project
This is my first woodworking project that has gone from idea to completion. It's a lamp made of ash (for the frame), maple scrap (for the inlay pieces) and rice-paper. Took me several days, since I'm new to this. I built a crosscut sled and a box-joint jig to achieve this. It's illuminated via a battery powered tea-light. It stands ~350mm tall. All the joints are half-laps, and though it was quite solid when I assembled it with a plain friction fit, I did glue the parts together to hopefully make it a bit more resilient.
I have plans for many more projects (in my head).

Problem: Ignorance

Attached to this post will be an image of how the lights look with the current code. This image represents what should happen when the controller has power and no other conditions are met ( AKA Running Lights )
Like I mentioned, my main problem is ignorance. I've completed all the schematics, component decisions, pcb design, 3d modeling for the enclosure, and installation of 90% of the hardware. But I do not understand some ofthe code.
I cobbled several chunks of code from several places, including Giuthub, youtube videos, and reddit. Most of what is written I understand. Some things I don't, and need either repair or rewriting.
The LED's are in arrays. This should allow me to turn on certain LED's during specific conditions.

My loop starts out like this

This works, but I know its wrong. There is extra 'stuff' in the statement for an animation that is not necessary. This portion of the loop does not need to be animated. When the animation does come later, I have no idea how I will do it.

If someone could lead me in the right direction, I would surely appreciate it. If i left out something from the 'group rules' just let me know, I'm happy to fix it.

Lore speculation on why/how Germany took over the Portuguese colonies in Africa.
(This is part of my ongoing series where I flesh out/rework current Africa lore, though it mostly functions as a standalone. I will provide a link to the prior posts in the comment section if anyone is interested.)
Why did the Germans take over Portuguese Angola and Mozambique? They had no historical claims on the territory, no ideological imperative to include Africans and Portuguese in their empire, neither Hitler nor anyone else in nazi circles ever expressed interest in taking over these colonies. So why did they do it, other than to greatly simplify African borders and the gameplay of the south African war? My best attempt to force a reason comes down to a combination of ideological “moral outrage”, the discovery of oil in Angola, and German business interests being violated by Salazar after the 50’s crash. These combined with an increasingly irritable and erratic Hitler to create an armed expedition to “temporarily” occupy the Portuguese colonies, and their defacto annexation into the Reichskommissariats.
Lets go into a bit more detail, in order to justify these factors. During otl WW2 Salazar and Portugal remained officially neutral, never declaring war on anyone. However, they did ultimately bend the knee to allied pressure: leasing the Azores islands in 1943 and embargoing tungsten exports to Germany in 1944. In the aftermath of the war Salazar would play ball with the new American led order, being a founding member of NATO, cooperating with European economic integration and being included in the marshal plan. The strategy seems to have been to maintain Portugal's political sovereignty at all costs, including by giving economic/strategic concessions to the larger and victorious powers when needed. In TNO this strategy would have continued, but to the benefit of the victorious Germans. While Portugal would never have joined the war outright, I have no doubt that as the balance swung in Germany’s favor Portugal would have done their best to get in Hitler’s good graces without giving up anything Salazar considered vital. This is relevant to Africa when considering likely post-war economic projects taken on by the axis.
The Estado Novo regime considered the European colonies to be integral parts of “Europe” itself, and of course for its own colonies to be integral parts of Portugal. As such they spent a great deal of effort in modernizing, developing and integrating their African holdings. This was done through the cultural suppression of native groups, Portuguese immigration and police oppression, but also through the education of African natives, strongly investing in the African provinces and intermarriage between Whites and Blacks. This last bit would have been the first strike against Portugal in the eyes of Hitler: Salazar’s refusal to adopt a blood and soil mythology as a pillar of his regime. For all its racist paternalism and abuse the Portuguese concept of the European mission in Africa was that of the white man's burden: to elevate the natives into Portuguese civilization in order to form a greater Portugal. As such employing, educating and most importantly to the Nazi’s breeding with black Africans was (to an extent) accepted. For Hitler, who believed that racial purity and hierarchy was the key to… everything this open contradiction within his New Order would have been almost intolerable. No doubt revulsion at Portuguese liberality and “blood defilement” in Africa would have also been common in the Nazi administration in Africa. None of this is reason enough to invade Portuguese Africa on its own. Hitler and virtually every other important decision maker in the Nazi state was far more concerned with goings on in Europe or the other great powers: no one had time for tiny Portugal. But this does explain the mindset of those within Africa itself: the Portuguese were irresponsibly defying the New Order and undermining the European order in Africa by empowering the natives and diluting European blood, and ought to be stopped somehow.

Another aspect of Portuguese rule which would unsettle their Nazi neighbors is their willingness to arm and train black Africans as part of the Portuguese army. Though the policy was sometimes circumvented the Reich Colonial Office had a general ban on the use of native solders, relegating them to minor logistical work or police duty. Portugals comparative liberality seemed a threat to the all-white order Germany was attempting to build.
This same project of integration and development by Portugal is also an opportunity for Germany however, specifically in how Germany could come to economically profit from or even dominate the project. In the aftermath of victory Germany would be engorged on the spoils of war, and have effective control over most of Europe and Africa. In such a scenario Portugal could do little but cooperate with the new hegemon, and despite Salazar wishing to keep the project of national development strictly under his control I believe he would ultimately bow to pressure by Germany and Italy to permit their economic investment into Portugal and their rapidly growing colonies. Though Salazar would do what he could to mitigate the political or military pressure this put on Portugal, a slew of partially or fully German owned properties would have cropped up in Angola and Mozambique. Coffee and bean plantations, tungsten and iron mines, and even consumer industries in those cities with a large European population are entirely possible. Salazar was always willing to give economic concessions in order to avoid making political or social concessions, and the same applies here.
However the good times do not last: the German economy crashes, debts go unpaid, and suddenly German owned industry in Portuguese Africa became stagnant or even abandoned. The obvious thing to do is to buy the property off the Germans and distribute it to Portuguese hands, but Portugal itself would have been harmed by this economic downturn. As such Salazar chose to do what it had done to the British in the past: he nationalized foreign owned industry and brought it under state control. In truth Salazar would have been itching to do this for a while, wishing to ensure Portuguese sovereignty via economic self sufficiency and domestic ownership. The gamble is that Germany, like Britain before it, would seek to come to some kind of agreement with Portugal rather than risk being cut out of the Portuguese economy entirely. The standard denunciations of the “theft of German property” and “betrayal of treaty obligations” were issued, but Salazar stood firm, willing to take this gamble. All the more because the Italians, Spanish and Turks were all fleeing from Germany as well: surely the Reich had larger problems? When the West Russian War broke out it appears that the gamble had paid off, as a now weakened Germany was in no position to meaningfully oppose the seizure of property.
And perhaps that would have been true, had it not been for the third aspect: the discovery of oil. The German east was in flames, the Italian controlled middle eastern oil was being withheld, and the war machine suddenly needed fuel. Though it wasn’t strongly developed yet, the recently discovered oil fields in Portuguese Angola were ripe with potential, and if seized would not have the same security issues as the caucuses or Iran. In the heightened fear of the early WRW, the sting of the Portuguese “betrayal”, and Hitlers own advancing age and ill temper, plans were drawn up to seize the oil and the formerly owned property by force. The operation itself was expected to be militarily cheap: Angola and Mozambique were lightly garrisoned, while the German navy had full command over the shoreline. All that was needed was a spark, something to justify the land grab in the eyes of the public. The SS made rushed plans to stage a false flag attack of some kind, but in the end there was no need: the social tensions within Portuguese Africa would do the job for them.

Though the oil fields were not yet fully mapped or exploited, Germany believed this was more due to Portuguese obstructionism than technical difficulties. Portugal for its part recognized the value that this new discovery could bring, and the risk of that value. They had no intention of letting it slip into German hands.
At this worst possible moment, a native strike flared up in Lourenço Marques, a city in Mozambique. Having been badly treated even during the economic growth, African laborers were then pressed by the economic downturn. Factory managers would fire workers or cut pay in order to make ends meet, and under the influence of a minor new socialist group the workers went on strike. However, when the management brought in strikebreakers the workers rioted and occupied their factory, including taking several Europeans hostage in order to ensure the police would not simply crush them. One of these hostages was a German tourist, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The crisis probably could have been dealt with peacefully, but Germany had larger designs. The German media jumped on the story, and the foreign office made unreasonable demands that the issue be solved immediately. Soon Germany, with the go ahead of Hitler, proclaimed that Portugal had lost control of its African colonies and that their irresponsible rule was a danger to Germans and all Europeans in Africa. Salazar was shocked: such grandiose statements were not uncommon from Germania, but had never been directed at Portugal. He quickly moved to make diplomatic contact, but it was too late: Hitler was determined to go ahead with the land grab, and ordered the operation to commence.
Hastily mobilized units from Sudwestafrika and Ostafrika cooperated with the remaining German garrisons to occupy Angola and Mozambique, initially running into minimal resistance. Most locals did not even realize that there was a crises as the incident had been heavily censored to avoid a potential spread of strikes. As such the roads and parts of the countryside were occupied by simply walking in and claiming it so. Salazar was now terrified that the Germans would expand their invasion to Portugal itself if given a reason, and ordered that regular troops not use lethal force to repel the invasion. This meant in practice that the regular Portuguese forces withdrew to ports, police stations or bases, where they holed up rather than face the invaders directly. Within a week a German troop presence was in place across all the major cities and oil fields, with the colonial office scrambling to organize a temporary martial law. The next few months were tense, with isolated Portuguese troops refusing to surrender but also being unable to take the offensive, and the German navy blockading the coast. The Portuguese mainland announced a partial mobilization and for once had no issue finding young recruits for the army. Eventually, through the efforts of diplomats and officers on the ground who had no wish to start a war, evacuations of Portuguese troops were negotiated as German military superiority in Africa could not be denied. The Germans had successfully snatched up all of central Africa, and the oil fields could be put to use fueling the Wehrmacht's operations in Russia and Cameroon, all with minimal casualties. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the German tourist made it out just fine: she had been released by strikers before the invasion even started.
The diplomatic consequences however were terrible. South Africa under the National Party had previously been on the verge of aligning with Germany, but in the aftermath of this attack the neutralist faction was greatly empowered, which wished to bring in some American influence in order to balance Germany and avoid submitting to anyone’s hegemony. Portuguese ties were of course totally broken and Spain, which had been trying to retain good relations with both Germany and Italy after the economic crash, now decided that Germany and specifically Hitler was unreliable and increasingly irrational. As such Franco decided to buff up his northern border defense and align more closely with Italy. This would be the first step in the formation of Iberia. All of this could have been made up for in part by their new land: Angola and Mozambique were some of the fastest growing economies in Africa, and there was a brief hope that this would aid the ailing German African economy. But it was not to be: the Portuguese and Asians who had the technical know-how in those economies almost universally elected to flee the nazi conquest, either to South Africa or more often back to Portugal itself. While doing so they took with them everything of value they could, both to ensure their livelihoods in Portugal and to spite the Hun. Franco and Salazar both aided this by providing transport for those wishing to flee and able to provide Portuguese citizenship. As such the local economies of the conquered territory were suddenly devastated by the near total flight of local talent and management.

Perhaps ironically, the element which would most fiercely resist the German invasion was the armed Africans. Knowing that they had nowhere else to run to and that the Germans would provide neither employment nor mercy, black Portuguese soldiers became the first meaningful resistance to Germany in Angola and Mozambique.
The responses to this by the German RKs were different. In Sudwestafrika Kommissar Bernhard Ruberg saw this as a good thing and made no effort to stop the exodus. He did not consider the Portuguese to be racially Aryan and likely to cause trouble in any case. As such their voluntary removal from his new territory was something to be encouraged, as Sudwestafrika was intended to be a settlor colony dominated by a new Aryan Nazi elite. This had the desired effect of nearly totally draining Angola of Portuguese people and many educated Africans, at the cost of the Angolan economy becoming utterly derelict. Ostafrika Kommissar Theodor Eicke saw things differently. Though he agreed that the racial quality of these people were dubious, he also wished to take full advantage of the economic potential of Mozambique. More importantly, the flight of aggrieved former residents just across the border to South Africa represented a security risk, as they may organize resistance groups in the comparative safety of South Africa. When SA refused his request that they close the border and repatriate those who had fled, Eicke took matters into his own hands and declared that he would not permit anyone to leave until the state of emergency was lifted. This had the desired effect of initially retaining the economic functionality of Mozambique, but this came at the cost of the populations ire against him and giving both white and black Mozambique a common enemy, for perhaps the first time in their history. The only territory to be smoothly integrated into its new status was Cabinda, which was handed to Zentralafrika under Carl Krogmann. Being the most liberal of the Kommissars and concerned primarily with economic extraction, the new port and oil field was swiftly taken under new management with little change to the working laws.
In 1962 the status of these territories has not changed much. Germany has not officially annexed either one, instead placing them under indefinite RK “trusteeship”. Portugal, or now Iberia, retains their claim to the territory and routinely demands its return. The RKs meanwhile treat them as piggy banks for their own projects. In Sudwestafrika Ruberg maintains a policy of “southern favoritism”, prioritizing the development and colonization of the original German colony above all else. As such, though he retains tight control over the Angolan provinces, they are purely a means to extract wealth for himself and to finance/supply the ongoing colonization effort to the south. The economy of this area remains destitute as all productivity is redirected away from the area. The area is restive, but as of yet organized resistance remains weak and divided. The same can not be said of Mozambique. Here the economy has also suffered, but only because of the increasingly strict security measures taken by Huttig and the African SS. Though he has managed to keep a lid on unrest and rebellion, the province remains a hotbed for clandestine radical groups and petty warlordism. This is unacceptable, and for his first task as head of security in Ostafrika Huttig shall seek to pacify Mozambique for good in 1962. Little Cabinda meanwhile has almost forgotten its former Portuguese status, having been integrated fully into the byzantine structure of Zentralafrika.
The final piece of this puzzle to consider is the role of the African exile. Many educated Africans took the opportunity to flee the nazi and returned to Portugal or were in Portugal at the time, including men like Joaquim Chissano, Eduardo Mondlane and Agostinho Neto. These exiled intellectuals were unable to find a place in Iberian society: opposed to colonialism and typically Marxist in inclination, most would have ended up exiled or arrested. However when there is no longer any Angola or Mozambique for the Portuguese to lose, suddenly these radicals become far less of an issue. Salazar would never go so far as to support their ambitions, but so long as their liberation committees remain strictly focused on their home nations he is willing to tolerate them. As such the intellectual growth of pan Africanism and African socialism has been able to ferment in Portugal and to a lesser extent America, where they have a sympathetic audience and tolerant authorities. Such student-led groups have only weak ties to the homeland, but nonetheless are a circle of committed and familiar revolutionaries who will jump at the opportunity to undermine the Germans should the opportunity arrive. Once the Russian exiles were a dead end and irrelevant group. Now the names of Lenin, Bukharin and Trotsky are celebrated by socialists across the world. Who is to say the “Lisbon colony” will not achieve something similar?

Of course, the response is that such complaints are unrealistic, or immature, or even racist. When the exiles return after the fall of German Africa, who knows what the people they both claim to represent will say?

I would appreciate collaboration of scientists and science inclined minds to think tank how humankind might build a 'solar curtain'. A solar curtain would be a construction most likely of dust or objects in space that would scatter the light from the sun away from earth. Here are some initial ideas:
To minimize the amount of emissions from this project the material for the solar curtain must come from the moon.
A nuclear powered space station is established on the moon. This space station manufactures some sort of powdered dust. The structure of the disks should optimally scatter light.
Question 1: what dimensions, material, and shape should the powdered dust be?
Obviously a magnesium silicates would be the simplest solution. Would it make sense to preprocess the material into specific sized particles to for example scatter away a specific wave length range? Maybe a voluminous low density zeolite could be more efficient at scattering than the raw moon dust.
The space station then propels the moon dust to a point in space that optimally scatters light away from earth.
Question 2: Where should the space dust be sent?
I imagine two scenarios. Scenario one. The dust is sent into a high speed orbit 'close' earth as disk. This has the advantage that the dust is close to earth so the efficiency of scattering light that would reach earth is high.

Design an automatic mains switching circuit that switches a backup source of light when there is a power failure. A transistor must be employed where as light sources can be simulated by LED. You will also need an alternate 12V DC voltage source to switch on the backup light.

Hello!
I am Mateusz and I want to help you bring your project to life. I have experience with many aspects of game development. I can help with 3D and 2D graphics, as well as game design, sfx/audio and marketing. I tend to get involved in all aspects of the project, I am open to feedback and when possible I help with all of my knowledge to the best of my extent.
Mainly I focus on 3D art (models and animations) with implementation to Unreal Engine and Unity. I am familiar with prefabs, blueprints and particle systems of both engines, as well as video editing and using DAW for sfx / audio editing.
In Unity I can create rigged characters with animations, custom URP shaders (in graph editor), particle systems, and turn them into prefabs with components.
In Unreal Engine I am familiar with creating blueprints, importing models, creating custom materials with instances. I can do some simple scripting and custom C++ code just a little.
In the past three years I have worked one year full time on an indie game build in Unity, and rest of the time I freelance creating asset packs and models for games and 3D printing. In my commercial work I touched pretty much a bit of everything from modeling, rigging and animation through vfx and particle systems as well as using DAW for sfx and audio editing. Beside that I have created a trailer and hosted few streams for commercial and non-profit projects.
The rest of my time I devote into developing my own skills, currently by making a platformer game in Unreal Engine while learning basics of it's C++ API.
I have some experience with video editing, which I gained over the years editing videos for few youtube channels and game trailers.
Before that I have studied art for three years, participated in few game jams (winning HTM5 https://devpost.com/software/power-panic ), and spent houndreds of hours doing 3D modelling and video/audio/photo editing for non-profit projects.
