So, I own some of the NECA Halloween figures. I own the Halloween II (1981) Michael Myers, Halloween (2018) Michael Myers, and Halloween Kills Michael Myers figures. Does anyone know if there are any other Michael figures made by NECA from the other movies or are those three it? Thanks!

2023.06.01 23:48 orty FREE CONCERT: Cascade Winds Symphonic Band in Concert This Sunday
My last post about the Central Oregon Symphony got a bit of attention and some new folks to come to our concerts, which is great! So pardon the cheap plug for another group here in town that includes many of the same Winds and Brass musicians and percussionists (like me) -- as well director Michael Gesme -- from the symphony and is going to be a good time as well. The final concert of the Cascade Windsâ 2022-2023 will be held in the Summit High School Auditorium on Sunday, June 4. The concert begins at 2:00PM with doors opening at 1:30PM. There is no admission charge.
The concert program includes a wide range of works, including Jan de Haanâs inspiring Overture to a New Age, Russell Alexanderâs rousing march Colossus of Columbia, and Robert Sheldonâs poignant and expressive With Every Sunrise. Rossano Galanteâs heroic Lexicon of the Gods depicts three great mythological figures: Perseus, the Greek hero and legendary founder of Mycenae; Penthos, the spirit of grief and lamentation; and lastly, Zeus, who ruled as King of the Gods on Mount Olympus. Finally, we present an expansive masterwork by Philip Sparke, A Colour Symphony. The symphonyâs five movements (White, Yellow, Blue, Red, and Green) explore a wide variety of tone colors, instrumental palettes, themes, and harmonies, and includes an extended set of instrumentation with the addition of cellos, harp, and piano.
If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to reply here or PM me and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I'm able.
Full disclosure, I'm a member of the Winds, have been since before I could drive a car. They're a non-profit organization and the musicians are all volunteers but are very good. Donations are gladly accepted to help with operating costs, hall rental fees, etc... . submitted by

2023.06.01 23:22 Trash_Tia My college's cheer squad have too much school spirit. In fact, I think they're going to kill me.
If I had to pick an embarrassing moment which will haunt me until I dieâit has to be the time I tried out for The Sunbeam cheer squad last year. I was a freshman, and I wanted community. Friends.
I heard the cheer squad were just an extra-curricular group rather than an actual majoring level class, so I figured Iâd give them a shot. Itâs not like I could ignore them.
On my first day when I was moving into my dorm room, I must have walked into the same girl three times. I am in strict belief that it is not possible for a human being to be permanently happy.
And yet that was her. She wandered around like the sun shone right out of her ass, and it was both endearing and terrifying.
The girl resembled the sun herself, a halo of golden curls held in a scrunchie and a flaunting sundress, matching ribbons wrapped around her. The Sunbeam Squad were easy to spot because they were all wearing insanely bright yellowâwaving around gold streamers, ribbons tangled in their hair. They all spoke in insanely high pitched voices like they inhaled helium for a living, but that must have been their shtick, right? It was kind of cute. I wasnât expecting such a welcome in the shape of guyâs and girlâs looking like they had just stepped off of ABC Kids. The girl who handed me a flyer and yelled in my face about school spirit was practically hopping up and down, a bright grin splitting her lips apart.
I nodded and smiled politely, stuffing the flyer in my bag and heading into my room to finish moving my stuff in. When I looked out of my window a few hours later, the Sunbeam squad was still threaded through the crowd, each of them wrapped in glittering fairy lights illuminated in the late evening sunset glow. Sunbeam. Yeah, I got it, but it was still kinda overkill. They were starting to remind me of a cult.
That, however, didnât stop me trying out. Iâm fairly athletic, and they were exactly what I wanted. Iâve never had a group of people I could call friends.
Though itâs not like I could blame anyone but myself. I was a shut-in for most of high school. I either worked or preferred my own company in my room. One of my biggest regrets is pushing people away, friends I wanted to get even closer to. Because now they had built these lifelong friendships and relationships, and I was stuck at 18 years old with nobody but childhood friends I spoke to once a year when we sent mutual holiday greetings to each other. But college could change that.
At least, thatâs what I hoped. I spoke to as many people as possible on my first dayâand in my head I was making them. Slowly but surely I was actually making friends in my classes I wanted to hang out with.
Sunbeam were my attempt to go even further and join a club. Through word of mouth in my first few weeks of classes, I learned they were more of an extra-curricular group for fun.
They didnât cheer competitively and had been formed in the mid-90âs by some kids who wanted to make a community out of positivity and school spirit. Sunbeam had a reputation for being Watson State student bodyâs beaconsâand their teamâs good luck charm. It was well known across campus that the squad was the reason behind the collegeâs fortune.
It had been like that since they formed 30 years ago, with members through the generations carrying out that pledge to spread as much pep as possible. While I say that they seemed nice judging from what I heard from others, they werenât exactly the easiest clique to get into. Unless you were on the squad.
I saw them around campus between classes. They always moved as a group, the six of them with their arms wrapped around each other, brandishing the school colours. The guyâs in loose fitting varsity jackets, while the girlâs flaunted cheer skirts.
The way they acted was a little too close, like they were more than friendsâand community and friendship had bled into something else. Like they had just walked out of an early 2000âs teen movie. Not that I was complaining. Their style was intriguing. They were like this untouchable group of godâs who had been placed on the highest pedestals. They ruled over campus, which made me want to get to know them even more. So, I tried out. Which was my first mistake of many in my freshman year.
It didnât hit me that I was in way over my head until I was in the college gymnasium, standing in front of a four person panel like I was auditioning for a Hollywood movie. Sunbeam took their try-outs incredibly seriously. Which was weird considering they were known to be the complete opposite.
There were maybe fifty or so applicants, and we had to stand near the back wall and watch others try out one by one. Which was already setting off my anxiety. Werenât they supposed to be closed try-outs? Initially, I was excited.
I had my routine in my head. What I had learned from watching the squad at my old school. High V, Low V, followed by a Touchdown, and then a backflip. I was confident. I mean, it ticked most cheer moves off, and even had a flip to complete the routine. My high school were a multi-sex quad, so I learned a lot from watching the guyâs moves during pep rallies.
I wasnât really worried about the quality of the moves since they were known not to take everything too seriously. But watching the others try-out, impossible flips without crash mats and twisting their bodies in ways I didnât know was possible, I quickly realised I was screwed. My competitors were acting like they were auditioning for an Olympic level team. My gut was dancing when I took centre stage.
The panel were made up of four members of the squad. Two boys and two girlâs, including the blonde who handed me the flyer on my first day. I was surprised when her eyes lit up with recognition.
"Oh, I know you!" She squeaked. Leaning forward, her smile seemed to brighten, illuminating her features. All four of them seemed to emanate a warm glow.
I felt myself relax slightly, the knot in my stomach loosening. Maybe their heightened positivity thing wasnât a shtick, after all. The girl, as well as the other members of the team seemed genuinely happy to see me trying out. âWhatâs your name?â Her voice reverberated off of the walls, and I was suddenly aware of a dozen other students watching me.
âAlex.â I said, offering a shy wave. âHey.â
Still grinning, she nudged a redhead next to her playfully. The guy was like no other Iâd seen before. He was a god damn traffic light. He was easy to spot in a crowd and was usually one of the low-key members who kept his head down. All of those colours painting him, and yet somehow he wasnât blinding people.
Though admittedly, he suited them; bright red hair clashing with the blue and gold of his football jersey, pasty skin and dark eyes drinking me in while the blonde girl pulled at his sleeve. âSee, I told you annoying freshmen would work!â
In response, he chuckled, rolling his eyes. âWhatever you say, Evie.â The guy straightened up, leaning his chin on his fist, a curious spark in his eyes. âAlright.â Twisting around in his chair, he signalled for music. When it started, the beat slammed into me, rumbling under my feet. âLetâs see what youâve got!â
Iâm not going to describe my routine because I donât have time to describe how fucking bad I was. In my head, I was doing okay. I was ready to finish with my back flip, but the music abruptly cut off and I found myself struggling to find my breath with my hands in the air, panting like an idiot. The blonde maintained her smile, but it was slightly strained. I could tell she was struggling to keep the façade of a Sunbeam member while also retaining critical thinking.
The redhead looked like he was in pain. He was first to speak, and I could tell by his sympathy smile Iâd screwed up. The others who I hadnât fully taken in until that moment, an asian American guy, and a girl with pigtails, were laughing like pre-schoolers. And they didnât stop until the redhead shot them the warning eyes.
Weirdly enough, the crowd of onlookers didnât join in. I expected the redhead to politely tell me I sucked, but instead he cocked his head, chewing on his pen. âYouâre good.â He said. âYouâre a good dancer, and I liked your movesâŠâ
He trailed off. âBut itâs positivity weâre looking for. And you didnât smile once through your whole routine which made you look stiff. Like you werenât even enjoying it.â He shrugged helplessly. âI like you, and I like your dancing. And Iâm sure you could be better if you worked on it. There are countless dancing clubs here, so maybe you might be better fitted there.â After exchanging a look with the blonde, he sighed. âUnfortunately, youâre not the type of person weâre looking for.â
Evie nodded. âI agree. We pride ourselves on staying positive and smiling. I didnât see that on you, Alex.â
âSame here.â Pigtails, still giggling, joined in. âI donât think youâve got enough school spirit.â
The other guy scoffed. He looked to be of Korean descent. Unlike the redhead, he was always at the centre of their group, always joking around and laughing. Just looking at him told me he was the leader. âBullshit!â He slapped the table with one hand, running his hands through thick dark hair with the other. âI liked it. Fuck pep, amirite?â He threw his pen at the blonde, who retaliated in a squeak, lobbing hers at him. âIgnore these clowns. I think youâve got what it takes. We just gotta work on you, yâknow? All youâre missing is a cheesy grin.â
He pointed to himself, stretching his lips into the widest smile he could muster. âSee? Like this.â
âClowns?â Evie shook her head. âI didnât see one smile. Sunbeam is all about smiling!â
âYou make us sound like a cult.â The Korean-American caught my eye. âWhich weâre not, by the way. These guys are just scared of change.â
âOkay, thatâs too far.â Pigtails shot him a scowl. Are you seriously disrespecting the alumni who created us? Who birthed us?
âWell, yeah!â He threw his paper at her. âSunbeam is a pep cult. We get high off of happiness. I thought we distinguished that.â
âTake that back!â
âNever! Why do you think I joined? To get high! Do you really think I joined for the cheering?â
They were joking around. I could tell by the smiles on their facesâa smile I knew I would never be able to mimic.
âQuiet.â The redhead shushed them. The guy had been sitting silently. Studying me. He leaned back, folding his arms.
âSee, even nowâeven when Iâm considering giving you a chance, thereâs no hope in your eyes. Not even a glitter of excitement. Youâre still not smiling and thatâs what we want, Alex. We want people who will embody what Sunbeam is all about. Even if I give you a second chance to brighten up your routine your smile will be fake. And thatâs not what we want. We want people who are willing to shed their humanity and become beacons.â
Beacons, huh?
And they were seriously saying they werenât a cult?
The redhead stabbed at his sheet of paper with the end of his pen. âCanât you just give us one smile? It wonât kill you.â
It was then when the others watching started to laughâand I wanted to punch the asshole in the face.
âDude, chill.â The Korean-American played with his pen, twirling it between two fingers. âHeâs right, as much as I hate saying it. We do need smilers, unfortunately. But hey, you can try out next year! Just remember to smile, alright?â He threw something at me. A squashed candy bar.
Which made me look even more pathetic.
I found myself nodding, even when I knew it was all bullshit. Still though, what each member had told me hit me harder than it should have. They were just words, what could they do? It turned out, words were far more powerful than I realisedâI just didnât know it yet. I didnât wait for the others to speak and made a quick getaway, my gut twisting and turning.
They were a cult. That is what I decided. These guys were a cult who needed members willing to throw away their souls. Probably for ritualistic sacrifice.
They needed weak people, I thought. Even when part of me knew they were right. I wasn't a smiler. Every photo I'm in, I'm either frowning or look constipated. Still though, I didn't dwell on the try-outs for too long. By the time a week had gone by, I had mostly forgotten about it and threw myself into my studies and college life.
Though something was wrong with me. It was as if the world had slowed down, had stopped making sense completely. Every day felt like a dream, and I myself felt like I was a ghost, like I was disassociating from my own body. Conversations with people felt fake. Like I was making them up.
I remember waking up day after day in a daze I couldnât get myself out of. It was only several weeks later did the thick mind fog which had been blanketing my brain finally liftâonly for me to hear the news that all six members of the Sunbeam squad had disappeared. I donât know how I didnât notice, how I didnât see the police investigation, or hear rumours being spread around like wildfire.
According to the college, it wasn't technically considered a disappearance since the members were all over eighteen, no longer minors. However, an investigation was conducted, with a statement being released that they were due to be performing at Knoxville College, cheering on our football team. But they never turned up. And what made it worse, was their bus was found abandoned on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Sounds bad, right?
Well, that's what we all thought. Vigils were already being held, and bodies weren't even found yet. Every time I walked back to my dorm after classes, the night would be lit up in warm golden light, candles flickering in the breeze. I'm not sure how many days had gone by-- they all seemed to blur into one-- when our college made another statement. The members of the Sunbeam squad were alive and healthy and had been sent to a training academy for professionals.
When the student body responded with confusion and scepticism, the college reassured us they were coming back once they were finished training. And while my classmates were relieved, I found myself confused. Sunbeam didn't cheer competitively. Their whole thing was that all they wanted to do was spread cheer and pep, regardless of how good they were. I had seen them perform, and they were good, sure. They were better than average. But definitely not good enough to be trained into proâs. Their moves were too clumsy, too half assedâwhich I was convinced they thought overwhelming amounts of positivity could fix. So it didnât make sense that they had been sent to some training academy. I kept up my scepticism until I saw them for myself.
The college were right. Sunbeam returned a week later like nothing had happened.
I did see a change in them. I think that was a universal opinion though. Sunbeam were well known for their pep and cheer, their constant smiling faces which drove me crazyâand itâs not like that stopped. They still smiled. They still walked around campus laughing together, in their own little world. That was when people were watching. When they had an audience. I caught them when they didnât have an audience. Without eyes on them, they detached from each other, their eyes darkening, expressions twisting, like each of them could smell something rotten in the air. I started noticing they were getting progressively clumsier at keeping up that Sunbeam façade they must have pledged when they joined the group. I figured it was just tiredness. They must have been through some pretty intense training.
Anyway, months went by. I started to feel less distant, and the fog which had been choking me faded, thankfully. I started my junior year moving into a shared house with my roommate, and the only talk Iâd heard about Sunbeam was that one of their ex members was rumoured to be pregnant. As for the rest of the squad, they were still popular, still talked aboutâbut their disappearance had definitely made people wary of them. I even heard someone say they were considered bad luck. I guess people thought they had sold themselves out for a chance to get into the big leagues. And it wouldnât surprise me.
Forced positivity can get you a long way, sureâbut recognition can get you further.
It was just a few weeks ago when I was invited to a game. Our first of the season, thanks to delays due to cuts in the sports department. Iâm not much of a sports fan, though I needed a distraction from the copious amounts of assignments Iâd let pile on my desk.
When I sat down with a chilli dog and Coke, I wasnât expecting to get so invested in a game where I had no idea what was happening. It was loud and obnoxious and I was choking on the stink of fried food, but it was fun. It was fun until Sunbeam walked out onto the side-lines. I glimpsed them in a blur of blue and gold, and a dull pain crawled across the back of my head. âYou okay?â My housemateâs voice was barely distinguishable in my ears, when I found myself transfixed by the way they moved in erratic jumps, quickly taking position. They had gotten better. Everything which was Sunbeam had been stripped away. Their smiles were forced. Wrong.
I remembered they used to push and shove each other, making the crowd laugh. Now though, they were in almost perfect sync in the way they moved, no longer shakily, sometimes stumbling into each other. Their routine was longer than it usually wasâand when the Korean-American guy perfected a triple flip, the crowd went crazy. I expected him to smile when he landed, grinning into the audience to generate what Sunbeam was made for. But his expression stayed stoic. Robotic. They were stiff. Heads up, backs straight, staring ahead of them. I was told when I tried out that fake smiles werenât allowed, and yet that was all I was seeing. I was seeing egotistical grins and curled lips, quick glances between each member.
I expected looks of reassurances, and in jokes only they found funny. Instead, it looked like a mutual agreement.
They were planning something. From the looks on their faces, it wasnât a firework show.
Sunbeam used to generate happiness. Their smiles, even under a façade, had always been real.
These guys emanated power. The way they stood. The guyâs at the front, readying what I guessed was a lift, and the girlâs on top of them.
Their routine ended with the music reaching a climax, and the two main girlâs being lifted into the air while performing High Vâs.
But they didnât stop there.
When the crowd exploded with applause, one of the girlâs slowly raised her arms and shot into the crowd with finger guns.
She shot twiceâand with every time she pulled that imaginary trigger, her painted lips stretched into a maniacal grin.Until her gaze was on me. And then behind me. I could see it in her glittering eyes I could no longer call human. I met Evie at the start of my freshman year, and then at the disastrous try-outs.
I knew her wide smile, and the glint of passion twisting her expressionâa love for the group and the members she couldnât put into words. Right then I wasnât seeing Evie, a Sunbeam cheerleader. I was seeing something else entirely, a being scanning faces in the crowd for a victim.
Her expression seemed to melt, from a gleeful grin, to something twisted and putrid, someone who craved the exact opposite of what Sunbeam preached. I watched her lips. I watched the words pop into existence, drowned into nothing by the crowds cheering. But I saw them in perfect clarity. âDrop.â She said, before pulling the imaginary trigger again.
No sooner had the words left her mouth before someone screamed behind me. I twisted around to see a guy had collapsed. He was pronounced dead five minutes later by his sobbing girlfriend who had attempted CPR. When I twisted back to look out onto the field, the Sunbeam Squad were gone. It didnât make sense that they were the ones to cause the guyâs deathâbut it couldnât have been a coincidence, right? Evie had shot into the crowd at the exact same time the guy had dropped dead. Finger guns werenât a weapon of course, but the timing was too coincidental. I already knew there was something wrong with Sunbeam. And this just strengthened my claims.
Obviously, when I tried to tell people this, I was called crazy. Delusional. I reported it to the student information building and just got a blank stare.
The woman wasnât even attempting to hear my story. She just heard âmurderâ and âSunbeamâ and her lips curved into an amused smirk. âYou know, you are quite fascinating,â leaning back against her chair, the woman frowned at me through wonky glasses. "First you unexpectedly quit, and then you accuse them of murder. Which I can tell you is false.â
She flipped through a notebook in front of her. âAccording to the autopsy report released a few days ago, the young man died of a brain haemorrhage, not the result of being pretend shot at by a cheerleader miming finger-guns.â The woman cleared her throat.
âTell me, what exactly do you have against the Sunbeam squad?"
âWhat?â
âYou quit the squad at the end of your freshman year,â she said, âAnd now youâre trying to accuse them of murder? Fascinating.â
Her words struck me, a shiver sliding down my spine. The office was cosy, and when I sunk into the rich leather of the couch in front of a roaring fire I recognised the book on her desk. It was a dog eared copy of Harry Potter. Iâd seen it before. But that was impossible. I had never been in her office. âQuit?â I shook my head. âNo, I donâtâŠâ I trailed off, stumbling over my words. âIâve never been part of Sunbeam.â
âWere you not?â She shook her head, a crease forming between her brows. âAh, I must be getting you mixed up with someone else.â
I nodded. âJust⊠can you just listen to me? That Evie girl was fuckingââ
She cut me off. âLanguage.â
âSorry. Evie. She was⊠I donât know what she was doing... she was doing like... like magic?â
âAre you sure you didnât dream it?â
âYes!"
âMmm hmm.â The woman cleared her throat, dismissing my protests. âIâm not a doctor, but If youâre experiencing memory loss and confusion, I suggest you go to the hospital. As for your ludicrous claims, you should keep them to yourself. That poor young man died due to a brain haemorrhage. Terrible and tragic, yes. But it was accidental, and not the work of⊠Iâm sorry, what were you claiming it to be?â
âMagic.â I said, again.
When she raised her brow, I couldnât resist a groan. âI saw her! She shot into the crowd and mouthed something!â
âShe⊠mouthed something?â
âYes! Butâ"
Again, her words sliced into mine. âOkay, letâs say you were right,â she said. âIf you are saying this girl shot into the crowd with her imaginary gun, wouldnât it be a gun shot which would have killed him? You said it yourselfâ, it was some kind of witchy magic to kill him. So, where was the bullet wound?â When I tried to speak, she raised her arm to shut me up.
âExactly. There was none. Because the man suffered a haemorrhagic stroke, and nothing could be done to save him. Your claims a group of young people carried this out as a murder is not only blatant defamation, but also disrespectful to the young man and his family. Now, please leave my office. I donât want to talk about this anymore.â The woman nodded for me to stand up. âI think you have been watching too much TV. Might I suggest focusing on your studies?â
I left her office, slamming the door.
My housemate wasnât helpful when I told him. He told me I was maybe a little too obsessed with Sunbeam. He headed to work, and I ended up in the lounge trying to focus on an episode of Criminal Minds. But I couldnât stop thinking about Evie.
I saw what she said.
Drop.
But it wasnât the force of her imaginary finger-guns ricocheting back. It was the word. Drop.
It had been alive on her lips like it was a sentient thing bleeding into existence. I managed to fall asleep, twisted like a pretzel in my housemateâs favourite chair, when three loud knocks on the door tore me from slumber. I was on my feet, blinking, disoriented. It was rare when we got a visitor. Stumbling over to the door, I had a moment of hesitation. I imagined Evie on the other side.
I imagined her raising her arm and shooting her pretend finger-guns directly into my head.
When I opened the door, I was surprised to see three little kids. The youngest must have been maybe nine years old. To my surprise, they were dressed in Halloween costumes. There was a little witch, a ghost, and a scarecrow all carrying pumpkin shaped holders It took me a moment to realise I was staring at a group of Trick or Treaters. It wasnât even mid-October yet.
âHey there,â I said, âUh, you guys are a little early.â
The little girlâs eyes were wide and unblinking. âWe want candy.â She held out her candy holder. âNow.â
I decided to be firm with them. âItâs not Halloween.â I said, taking a small step back. I was grasping the handle, ready to slam it in their faces. These little shits were freaking me out. Not just their tone, but their expressions were vacant. There were no lights on and that terrified me. âSorry kids, I donât have any candy. But like I said, come back when itâs actually Halloween, and Iâll have candy bars for all of you. "
What I wasnât expecting was for the Scarecrow to pull a knife out of his pumpkin shaped candy holder. He didnât hold it like a kid should, clumsily, confused. There was a strategic way the way his fingers were wrapped around the handleâlike heâd brandished one before. The kid held the knife up to his own neck and made a slicing motion. Like the little girl, his eyes were blank. Unblinking. There was something wrong in the way he was standing. Stiff, like a puppet on strings. âAre you fucking kidding me?â He squeaked out a laugh. I didnât see him lunge forward, I was already moving back, stumbling, losing my footing.
The kid moved with impossible speedâand before I knew what was happening, the hilt of the knife was buried in my lower leg. I didnât even feel pain. My body was being driven by adrenaline, pushing me to get away from him. I remember falling back. I remember my own trembling hands grasping hold of the handle and pulling out the knife. Red was pooling down my jeans and onto our hardwood floor. The little kids turned around and ran back down the steps into the night, and I watched them in a sort of daze.
They didnât move like normal.
They stalked down the sidewalk like video game characters. The witch shoved a passing old man before pulling out a gun and pointing it at his head. But she didnât shoot. The three of them ran offâand it was only when I was watching the top of the girlâs witch hat disappear into the night, when I glimpsed somethingâor someoneâat the corner of my eye.
Before I heard laughter. The tree in front of me moved. At first I thought they were shadowâs. Before the shadows bled into figures. Four of them. I glimpsed the school colours. Blue and Gold. I saw twin ponytails, velvet and blonde-- as well as the tell-tale Sunbeam varsity jacket. The group were laughing, whispering to each other. Not exactly doing a good job of hiding. When they slipped from their hiding place, I recognised Evie. Her fingers gingerly on her nose while intense red pooled down her chin.
The others were the same, swiping at their faces with jacket sleeves. They didnât seem fazed. The redheadâs gaze was latched onto the retreating children, his lips curling. I could sense he was still tethered to them. He was still commanding them to act out grand theft auto. They had caused the manâs death at the game and had controlled those children.
I wasnât crazy or delusional. Evie had killed someone by simply shooting imaginary finger guns, and somehow the others were able to bleed into childrenâs heads, taking them over.
Pulling my phone from my pocket, I heaved out a breath. The pain was starting to hit in waves I had to grit through. I couldnât move. I was stuck, curled up on my floor. While they laughed.
I was halfway through stabbing 911 into my phone when one of them came over. It was the Korean-American. The one who had been the nicest to me out of all of them. The real smile I remembered was gone, replaced by something inhuman. Something I didnât want to question.
With his hands stuffed in his varsity jacket pockets, he approached me with mocking eyes, almost an attempt at trying to mimic his old self.
The guy knelt in front of me with a chuckle. âKids these days, right? Theyâre animals.â
His voice, no, his words, were hurting me. I felt each one penetrate me like gunshots.
My wound wasnât bad. Thatâs what I estimated, anyway. I donât think the kid had hit anything vital. But I needed the emergency room. I still had one hand grasping at my side, drenched in red.
I managed a hiss, grasping for my phone when he pulled it out of my grasp and waved it in the air. âFuck off. What did you do to those little kids?â I gritted out, trying to reach for my damn phone. I was starting to feel the pain in my side and it hurt like a mother fuckerâdizzying bolts of electricity which felt like waves of boiling hot water slamming into me one by one. I tried to get onto my knees, but he pushed me back down again. The guy cocked his head to the side, confusion creasing his expression.
âOuch. That must hurt.â
"What did you... what did you do?" I hissed out.
His presence was hurting me. Every time he opened his mouth, it was agony. Somehow, it was worse than the stab-wound. This kind of pain was no other Iâd felt before. The type Iâd rather die than feel. A cry was clawing at my throat, fight or flight taking over. Again, I tried to move, I tried to get away from him. But he was holding down my arms and prodding at my side before sticking his finger in the cut and twisting. "I didn't do anything, Alex.â
His voice barely hit me when my vision blurred and I screamed. Like a fucking animal, I screamed. But not because his fingers were digging around in my insides.
Because my brain was suddenly boiling, a metal rod piercing my skull and stirring it into a soupy mess. His voice was inside me. It was bleeding into me, taking over me. But not just his voice. The world blurred around me and I was no longer in my doorway, bleeding out against the wall.
Instead, I was moving. I was⊠I was walking. No, I was being dragged. Except these werenât my memories. This wasnât my mind. I could see bare feet beneath me delicately slapping on white tiles. When I looked up, I saw an expanse of white like I was being led straight into the clouds. This was a building. There were glass doors and electronic panels, people in black guarding each one. It took a while for me to gain my sensesâor him to gain his.
We could smell something like chlorine and taste rusty coins at the back of our throat. Feel the ice cold tiles against our bare toes. A strange feeling at the back of our head. We kept wanting to run our fingers through our hair, but every time we did, our fingers only touched bare skin. Scuffed and rigged skin. Tight fingers were wrapped around our arm, dragging us further and further into a white oblivion. Until a glass door seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
From now on, I am going to describe his memories very vaguely. Iâm just going to tell you what I saw.
The room we walked into reminded me of a classroomâbut there were no desks. In front of me were the other members of Sunbeam pressed against the back wall. They faced forwards, their gazes penetrating nothing. But I saw they were trembling. Terrified. The squad were dressed in pale white shorts and t-shirt, ugly red spattering the front. There were still traces of blue and glitter on their faces, ribbons hanging from bedraggled curls.
Their feet were bare and filthy like ours. When we were shoved forwards, we took our place next to Evie who had half of her hair shaved off. Her arms were folded across her cheer uniform, her bare feet tapping a beat against the floor. When a woman with dark red hair held in a strict ponytail entered and asked if either of us wanted to show her what we had learned, Evie eagerly raised her hand. âOkay, Evie.â The womanâs voice was too sweet. Sickly sweet. She gestured for the girl forward. âShow us what youâve got.â
The door opened, and a man stepped through. His hands were tied in front of him, his eyes blank.
Evie nodded, her eyes set in determination. She cleared her throat. âShatter.â
Nothing happened.
âIntent, Evie.â The woman said. âIt doesnât matter how you say the word unless you use proper intent. Try again.â
The girl did, growling in frustration.
"Shatter.â
The manâs head flew from his torso suddenly in a river of red, and the girl squeaked in excitement.
While we watched in horror, the rest of the squad gave in to their own despair.
Different days bled into oneâand we watched faces change. Heads were shaved. Hair grew back. Fear turned to joy.
A blonde girl exploded into bloody chunks, splattering against the walls.
âYes!â The redhead high-fived pigtails, the two of them locked into some bizarre handshake. âThatâs what Iâm TALKING about!â
âBang!â One of the girls used finger guns, and with each âshotâ innocents dropped against the wall one by one, their heads blown through.
She jumped up and down in glee. âBang, bang, bang!â
âKeep going,â the voice of the woman crackled through the speaker. âYouâve almost got it.â
âDivide.â Pigtails used her pointer finger at an old man who was skewed by an invisible force sending bloody chunks of him to the floor.
"Show off.â The redhead said in a sing-song voice. He was slumped against the back wall using his jersey to wipe blood from his face while the others painted the room scarlet. With simple words of intent and a hand gesture, they were able to take people apart piece by piece.
Pigtails snorted when another âtest subjectâ was brought in. "Oh, you think you can do better?â
âThink I can? I know I can.â
This time he plunged two fingers into his temples. He was centre stage, the others against the back wall with their arms folded.
âRip it out.â
The test subjectâs eyes widened, her trembling hands clawing at her own head, fingernails digging into flesh. âRipâŠrip it out?â
His lip curved. âThatâs what I said.â
We didnât see the test subject rip her own brain from her skull. We were already burying our head into our knees and screeching into the floor. Another flash. Like watching a movie.
This time weâre cutting into our wrist with shards of glass. Pulling back fleshy flaps of our flesh, there are two wires entangled with muscle and bone. One red and one blue. âWhy wonât you submit?â A sharp growl, and I can feel our body pressed against metal. Our arms are restrained. âOut of all of them, you refuse it.â A hand slaps our face. âYou donât want it!â
He started to laugh.
âYou donât want⊠control?â
He leaned his face closer. âTell me to mutilate myself. Tell me to⊠to tear out my brain stem! Thatâs the beauty of it! No matter how impossible the order is, it will be completed! Control, my boy. Use it. Do you even understand how much you are going to shape the world? Words! Do you know how powerful they are? When said from the right mouth, with the right intent, they can cause bloodshed, pain and misery-- a despair drowning our already shattered earth. And you will be the centre of it. You will bring this world to its knees, Jason."
"Now, do it. We call it cutting, but you will find familiarity in referring to it as erasure. You can make up your own words if you would like. What matters is the intent.â I feel something slicing into our arm. Itâs nothing medical. Itâs torture. He plunges something sharp into the same spot and twists the blade until we throw our head back and scream at the ceiling.
âYouâre the last one.â The man hissed. âDo it.â
âNo.â I heard hisâourâvoice. âI⊠I canât!â
âDo it!â
Heâs dragging us again, forcing us down a long winding corridor until we reach another door.
"Drown." The boy - - Jason's-- voice was suddenly in my head. I could sense it was trying to hold back, attempting to peel back whatever power his own words had. But the word came again and again until it was suffocating his mouth. âDrown. Drown. Drown. Drown.â We were standing in the doorway of a smaller room. In the corner there was a figure curled up with their head pressed against the wall.
It was a guy.
I recognised our school colours, a bloodied varsity jacket over shorts and t-shirt. When he lifted his head and twisted to face the boy whose mind I was in, I noticed he had an uncanny resemblance to me. His eyes wide, frightened. They were my mother's.
This guy looked exactly like me.
No, it WAS me.
My eyes were shadowed and haunted.
Like I had been drained of everything I was.
As quickly as the memories came crashing into me, they were yanked away when the guy must have pulled back.
I blinked rapidly, and Jason looked as confused as me. Slowly, he pulled his finger from my cut. The man's voice was in my skull, and it was agonising. I felt the command in my head, my body instantly reacting to... to nothing. I had my hands out, ready to do.... do something.
"That was⊠just a trick,â He said. âYeah! Just a trick!â
I found myself nodding, echoing his words. Something warm ran from my nose.
"Just... a trick..." I whispered, the words forced from my lips.
Blood spattered down my chin.
âLouder.â He said.
"JUST A TRICK!" I yelled, the force of the wail sending me my knees, panting. The guy was frowning, seemingly unsure what to do with me.
He wrapped up my wound and told me it wasnât badâand it wasnât. I watched in disbelief as my skin stitched itself back together.
"Go into your kitchen." Jason said, and I felt the power of his words ripping through me like bullets. My body moved on its own, and I got to my feet and stepped into my kitchen. He followed me, grabbing a scarf off of the table.
"Get on your knees." I did, dropping to my knees, my breath in my throat, my mouth sealed shut. I could sense the others in the doorway as he wrapped the scarf around my eyes, the heel of his shoe slamming into my neck forcing me onto my stomach.
"I want you to wait for me to kill you."
His words pierced into me. I did. Even when I knew he was gone, the door slamming shut-- I waited. I waited until the next morning, until I regained control over my own body and pulled the scarf from my eyes. I'm still waiting, my brain in constant panic, twisting around when I'm alone, looking into every corner.
I was roped into going to Friday's game against Harrington. During Sunbeamâs routine, they did it again. They had the crowd's attention, and Evie was mouthing something. I felt her words, sharp like needles cutting into me. But they didn't penetrate. They have done something to the student body. Ever since, Iâve been catching looks around me. Those whose heads they have crawled into. Mindless eyes. Every so often an arm will touch mine, fingers will wrap around my neck. I can hear their feet pitter pattering after me. Those little kids from that night. I keep seeing the little witch girl in the corner of my eye. Theyâre creating an army who are coming for me once he decides to kill me.
If only I knew what happened to the Sunbeam squad. Maybe I can help them somehow.
But something tells me theyâre way past help.
And so am I.
I wonder if one day, I might be allowed a glimpse of my memories. What really happened to me during my freshman year.
And why, ever since going into his mind, I dream of a white room.

2023.06.01 22:05 _beep_man_ I have two ideas for my character's love interest. Which should I pick?
Hello!
I'm writing a story featuring the supernatural. One of the protagonists is a diligent, enthusiastic researcher of all things weird named Michael. I describe him as a meek gentleman techie whose whimpering-puppy disposition is broken by unrivaled curiosity and passion for his interests. While he's on the skittish side, his curiosity about the unnatural and unexplained always outweighs his fear. He's a young man of integrity and responsibility, and he's protective of his friends in an understated way. Additionally, he is an overthinker -- he is observant and analytical, which are as good a strength for him as they are an ailment that cause him to spiral into anxious negativity.
He is going to get a love interest at some point in the story, and I have two ideas that I'm having a hard time choosing between. No matter who I choose, the love interest will be a normal person who doesn't know of the supernatural or believe it exists, and they start out as the distant-unapproachable-popular-kid who Michael has a crush on, which is a running gag. As he becomes more courageous, he approaches them, and chaos ensues as they inevitably get involved with the supernatural and Michael has to deal with it. Here are the two ideas I have, Kalani and Layla!
Kalani is calm and confident with a warm, casual, and breezy attitude and charming, fun-loving spark. However, they can be quite stubborn and conflict-averse, and those two things combined cause them to be reluctant to admit when they're wrong about things. That being said, they are thoughtful and considerate of other peoples' feelings, and they live in the moment without much care for the past or future. In that sense, and taking their outgoing side into account, Kalani is a "practical" person. Laid back and attentive with some spunk here and spice there, Kalani is equal parts energized and relaxed.
Layla is a soft, chipper sweetheart and true free spirit -- sheâs outgoing and openhearted, and she lives with an upbeat, but gentle approach to life. Gentle, but merry and warmhearted, Layla is a social butterfly floating through lifeâs breezes and is a sparkling conversationalist. Beneath Laylaâs sociable and easygoing exterior lies a heart thumping with joy and energy that is devoted to enriching her life with outdoor adventures and friendly jaunts, but she is easily compromised by stress, which causes her to sometimes explode in whirlwinds of fluster and anxiety and break her genial and benign aura.
So there we go. Who would you choose to be Michael's love interest: Kalani, or Layla? I had to trim things down to sum their personalities up quickly, so if you want to know more about them, just ask. Thanks in advance!

2023.06.01 21:51 Ambitious_Gear550 I was wrong about Terrifier 2 and Art The Clown
At first I wasnât a big fan of Terrifier 2. I watched it again yesterday and now Art is my second favorite slasher villain of all time. My first is the legend Michael Myers.
Itâs been awhile since weâve gotten a new slasher villain that actually shakes things up. Terrifier 2 could of been shorter and tied things together better but man is Art brilliant as a villain. He gives zero fucks!!!! He managed to be whitty and clown-like but still has a darkness and evil to him. Something Freddy had but got lost in the sequels. I hope they keep Art silent in the next films moving forward. Talking slashers take the scare out of it for me.
Things I look for in slasher movies are the design of the slasher. How the slasher acts on screen. The cinematography. The score and ofcourse the kills. Art checks all those boxes. The score for Terrifier 2 is badass and fits with Art similar to Halloween and how the music speaks for Michael since he doesnât talk.
If Terrifier 3 is great than Art will become an even bigger deal in horror. Anybody else had a change of heart on Art?

2023.06.01 21:22 KamchatkasRevenge Out of Cruel Space Side Story: Of Dog, Volpir, and Man - Ch 221
Sir David
Far across the Capital city from the impromptu Sarkin wedding feast Sir David and Ariane were walking around the Imperial district, hand in hand, lazily enjoying the light breeze and the warm sun as they played tourist.
Sir David couldn't help but glance over at Ariane constantly, both to enjoy her, and to listen to her next piece of interesting information.
One place he had some mutual hobbies with Ariane was in history, and Ariane had devoured human history and mythology by the truck load once she'd gotten access to the Tear's internal comm net. Her reading speed and retention rate was truly something you had to see to believe.
She'd also proved she was quite crafty in the arts and crafts sense. After she'd found out about the minotaur of Greek myth, she'd set herself to work designing some new outfits that mixes ancient Greek and traditional Agela fashion, then partnered with Mama-san the Pavorus tailor aboard the Tear to produce them.
The result in this particular case was a stunning white dress that was just sheer enough in some places to be more than a little distracting, while not being at all lewd or erotic. Or anything but conservative by galactic standards.
Sure, with a slit in the skirt to her upper mid thigh, and some actual cleavage, she was showing off more skin than an Apuk girl might on average, but anything more than a micro bikini could be considered 'conservative' by galactic standards. Paired with her usual concealed shifter belt which showed off her waist and the sheer intensity of her curves in a delightfully subtle way, she'd then left her bountiful golden hair curly and put it up with a pair of pins.
The total effect between the colors of her body, her rich caramel skin, the blue of her eyes, her shining golden hair, and the various whites and creams of her not quite toga made her look the part of an actual goddess of Greek myth. Ari was an absolute gem of a woman, and was just as beautiful in sweat pants as she was all done up... but Sir David certainly appreciated the results when Ariane took the time to get all gussied up.
It was only due to David's sheer force of will and decades of self discipline that he wasn't all over her like a teenage boy on his prom date to use an American idiom. The temptation alone was... intense. The desire was strong.
Yet.
Sir David wanted to hold back. For his own sake. For Ariane's sake. He wanted to build a bond in more than mutual physical desire... and he had to remember what being... touched... was like. How to touch. How to accomplish the physical parts of being a lover.
He could hear Mary scolding him for ignoring her when she'd told him to seek out someone else to help keep his life fulfilled and happy... letting what were once well developed skills in how to be a partner, how to be a lover, how to be a friend in a context outside the military, atrophy deeply. Then again, could Mary have known just how badly her death was going to hurt him? She'd have likely scolded him for that too, but still. He just couldn't give the old girl up... and with Ariane around to stand next to the ghostly love of his life, and not in place of... well. Maybe Mary would forgive him for waiting just a little bit longer to find the right woman.
That more women could quite easily follow was... something that was becoming somewhat intriguing to David. There was, after all, near limitless potential in the galaxy.
Perhaps he was talking to Jerry too much about such things in the Ward Room after the female officers had mostly left for the evening, but the man made a persuasive, if somewhat self-serving argument in the name of plural marriage in the galaxy. Sir David himself didn't have a religious or moral objection to such things, and considering he already had more or less agreed with his... girlfriend for lack of a better term. Fiancée perhaps. That she would be his second wife per galactic terms, to respect the mother of his first children made the question of a third or fourth wife seem... much easier than simply considering a second. If the right woman showed up... why not?
"Oh! David! Look!"
Before David can be completely shaken from his thoughts he's been dragged through an ornate gate set into a stone wall into a garden. David's eyes wander the place and automatically map out the details. They're just passed through a stone wall onto a platform resting on what appeared to mostly be a natural hill, with a small set of steps leading down to the actual ground level and the stone path that ran through the grass.
The garden itself is quite large, and beautifully crafted with paths, not just of stone but within the plants themselves winding naturally through the stunning blooms and leading towards what appeared to be an altar at one end of the garden and a large set of stairs at the other.
The stairs lead up to a balcony, over which loomed a fortified building some distance behind it. David recognized it as an old fort, in a style endemic to older Apuk architecture that David had seen a few times with Ariane so far this morning while touring the Imperial district.
David makes his second sweep of the area, now looking for even more fine details this time around. Looking up a bit higher finds ten statues lining the area, each paying homage to a larger statue of a woman in armor behind the altar.
She was posed with a warblade that was nearly as long as she was tall, and she appeared to have been very tall in life, regardless of how the sculptor had scaled her up. Still, the detail in the sculpture was remarkable. The warrior woman's smile warmed the garden that was clearly a memorial like she was standing there with them that moment, no matter how long it had been since her death.
Ariane sighs with pleasure at both the exquisite sculptures around them, but also the skillful display of horticulture, taking a brief moment to sniff a vibrant blue bloom before pulling up her guide book.
"Let's see... Yes, this is the Memorial Garden of the First Battle Princess. Hmm. Some warning in the Apuk language I can't read, where's the... ah! Here we are!"
Ariane grins at her success at finding what she was looking for and starts to read the contents of the page to David.
"Princess Mira'Tok Crownborn was the title that she ended her life under many thousands of Centris standard years ago at the dawn of pre-space flight modern Apuk history. Mira'Tok was the first to receive a crown directly from the hand of the woman who would become the first Empress of Serbow, and is the predecessor of every battle princess to ever wear a crown."
The Agela woman's eyes glimmer as she continues to read, clearly excited by both the history and the craftsmanship around them.
"The statues displayed around her are her ten companions, her battle sisters... and there's a twelfth statue behind her, of the Sorcerer Dus'Kvun, her husband. Not to deemphasize him, but rather their display rotates with the Princess being displayed forward by day, and her husband by night when bioluminescent plants from the dark forest naturally light the garden up! Seems the statues automatically rotate into their different positions after sunset and at dawn. The guide suggests this was a commentary on the two halves of martial supremacy on Serbow... and a more traditional depiction of both male and female."
David arches an eyebrow and leans over to read over Ariane's shoulder a bit. "Really, she was the first? Interesting... How old is the statue then? It's incredible. Almost like she's about to start laughing and tell us a story about her adventures."
Ariane nods. "She was famous for doing just that. This garden is a few thousand years old, commissioned early in the current Imperial family's reign. Mira'Tok was named a... it's hard to pronounce it, so I'll just translate, a sword saint. So like the kensei from Japan on Earth that we discussed the other day. So Mira'Tok is a religious figure as well as a historical and martial figure. So this memorial garden was dedicated as an official war shrine of the Apuk Imperial military. What's the mean though?"
Ariane flicks through a few more screens, focused entirely on learning something new about the place they'd found themselves in.
"Here we go! As an Imperial War Shrine, the garden of the mausoleum plays host to a variety of ceremonies annually including the Empress praying for the Imperial military, officers being commissioned or promoted, and senior enlisted swearing fresh oaths of enlistment. To be offered or granted permission to swear your oaths in the garden is a significant honor and marks out either a highly distinguished, or extremely loyal individual with many years or service... or the type of fresh face who's on the fast track to bigger and better things. It's not automatic even for battle princesses who take up Imperial military service."
Ariane pushes her communicator towards David, pointing to a specific paragraph. "Ooh, look! Apparently it's not uncommon for the Empress to turn up unannounced and receive the oaths of those permitted to make their oaths in Mira'Tok's mausoleum personally."
Sir David raises an eyebrow at that. "Dear God, I don't think her majesty ever surprised anyone to take their oaths of service personally... though she did knight me and award me my Victoria cross personally, as was the standard of the age. To take an oath of service personally like that from her warriors. That's truly special for those Imperial officers and enlisted who are privileged to offer their oaths like that I'm sure. To make oaths of loyalty and service personally to your liege. Ye gods and little fishes, it's right out of a fairy tale!"
"I know! Isn't it great?" Ariane clearly suppresses a squeal, doing her best to remain respectfully calm in this sacred space.
Suddenly however, a concerning thought struck Sir David.
"Say, Ari, are there any issues with us being here as outsiders? This is, as you say, sacred ground."
Ariane puts her nose back in her communicator and reads through a few pages quickly.
"Well it says this shrine isn't considered super popular to visit because it's small and somewhat out of the way, though many warriors make pilgrimage here to entreat Mira'Tok's blessing and invoke her courage, so this part of the war shrine is proudly open to the public. Though offworld visitors are of course asked to be respectful to the gardens and the spirits of the Princess, her husband and her shield sisters. In fact... as a warrior yourself you should be able to access the inner shrine if you'd like. There's apparently some rare artifacts related to Mira'Tok, and there's usually a few Wardens, retired senior members of the Apuk Imperial forces, around who are always happy to chat with a fellow warrior. While they nominally guard the shrine, apparently they also give regular discussions and talks about the history of this place, the Imperial military, and Mira'Tok. It's by appointment only, but they also only need like thirty minutes notice."
David nods, looking around again and admiring some more of the sheer effort that had gone into this beautiful little slice of serenity in the capital.
"Sounds like we should register for one of their talks if they wouldn't mind an audience of two. Heh, registering for a tour from wardens of a tower in the capital city of an Empire. It's so familiar it's almost a touch nostalgic."
David gestures upwards at the tower that was clearly the inner shrine.
"It's just like the Tower of London back home in some ways, right down to the wardens. The Yeoman Warders of the Tower back on Earth are all retired senior enlisted military personnel. Next you'll tell me they keep a local species of black bird here. Still, this other part of the shrine, the inner shrine, I can gain access to it? But you made it sound like you couldn't? Why's that?"
David gazes over at the now blushing Ariane.
"No such luck on the black birds. As to the inner shrine... It. Ah. Access to the inner shrine is limited to warriors and their... well. It says husbands but considering you're the warrior I'm sure they'd make exception for your spouse but we aren't married and I-"
Sir David leans over, cups Ariane's cheek and chastely kisses her on the lips, a mark of affection Ariane eagerly returns with a loving sigh.
"Ooh..."
"Maybe I'm not so worried about that any more. Forgive an old man his foibles my dear... besides. I'd say you're at least my fiancée, and I. Well I don't want to presume, but I'd be. It."
David feels his tongue tangle a bit as he remembers he hadn't expressed a lot of his feelings on this subject to Ariane yet.
"I... Ari. I'd be a fool not to marry you. I think I might have done you a great disservice in not being more clear about that. I ah. Yes. It's. You're to be my wife. If you'll have me of course... Bollocks that came out wrong."
Ari looks back at David, her long lashes fluttering as she gives him a coy smile.
"You're impossible sometimes you know that?"
"I'm unfortunately aware."
"I love that about you. I suspect Mary did too. Yes David. I'm going to be your wife. You're going to be my husband. There's no need to ask, it's set in the stars and has been from the moment we first made eye contact when you came to rescue me. Because for all your desire to take it slow, I've utterly failed to honor your desires and I fall more and more in love with you with every passing minute of every passing day. How can I not? I'm a girl who loves fairy tales after all, and here at last is my gallant knight to carry me away. I do prefer the human style role swap honestly. Much more fun to be carried off on horseback by you instead of carrying you off. Makes me feel all delicate."
The first kiss was nice. The second kiss was like nothing else David had ever experienced in his life apart from kisses with Mary, and in that second kiss he wasn't worried about having to remember how to be a lover to someone anymore.
Ari's lips warmed him from the tips of his ears down to his toes, making him melt just slightly as they embrace among the flowers, which seem to bloom all the more brightly in the face of such a passionate act of mutual affection, turning up to the couple ever so slightly as if they were the sun itself.
Then the spell is broken by a sharp wolf whistle and a leering cackle from nearby.
"Hey sister, care to share some sugar?"
Three well dressed Apuk, with what David recognized as gang markings peeking over their collars or out of their sleeves saunter through the gate, slowly spreading out.
"Told you girls I smelled a man. Cute too... So what's the slice sister, you the first wife?"
"S-Second. I'm his second wife." Ariane stutters for a second but quickly gets more confident in her tone, her powerful body tensing.
One of the toughs, a woman with poorly maintained reddish purple locks, looks at the senior tough, a woman with vibrant green hair that's clearly much better taken care of.
"...Why are you asking? We just want to have a little fun right? Make this trip up to the Imperial district worth it?"
"Yep, and all the better if sister here is willing to share. Might even make some easy credits girlie."
Ariane tenses a bit more, as her cheeks color with what David recognizes as anger. Then he notices Ariane's hand subtly going towards the controls for her shifter belt.
"Did you seriously just ask me to whore my husband out to you dirtbags?"
"Hey now, dirt bag's a mean way to put it!" The gang leader's tone takes on an oily, play acting hurt tone as the three women begin to spread out a bit more. "Might just hurt my feelings, and you know girls, when my feelings are hurt there's just about only one thing that'll really quench the fire it starts in me."
"...Bout a liter of this bitch's blood boss?" Says the redhead again, leering at Ariane as she speaks.
The gang leader's smile gets extra toothy, making her look like she was part Cannidor for a moment.
"Yep, and a couple rounds with old boy over there while she bleeds out on the stone. Hey. Call some more of the girls over, I think this might end up being a grand old time."

Whale of a Tale (December 13th, 2017)
Caution - Wall of text incoming.....don't say I didn't warn you....
I started playing FFBE shortly after launch in July of 2016. It was a fresh take on an old classic, my favorite series of all time, Final Fantasy. When I was 11, in 1988, living in New Jersey, I went to the Nintendo CES in New York City. Nintendo had demo booths for all the upcoming games, and the original Final Fantasy was one of them. It was the coolest game I had ever seen. I got it when it was released and it remained my favorite series of games for years. FFII and FFIII on SNES, I bought a Playstation so I could get FFVII, I got a PS3, but all I wanted to play was FFXII (I personally like Vaan).
Along came married life, kids, jobs, responsibilities, and I could no longer spend time on a console. I didn't have time to sit and play and grid out levels and complete the extra quests like defecting Ruby Weapon. Then FFBE was released. A short format game that I could play for 5 or 10 minutes and put it away. It didn't require a console or a TV, just a few minutes to play a couple of dungeon runs or a quick exploration, then I could put it away for later. It was perfect.
Expedition into the Abyss. The first banner I spent money on. I had been playing the game for 6 weeks or so and I had not found the
FFBreveExvius subreddit or the Exvius Wiki, I went into the exploration blind and got wiped out. I leveled my team, I maxed my stats and I just could not win. I got to Ansel finally and beat him, but I was so low on energy. I used lapis refills just to limp past him. Then I got to the exit with the 3 bosses that kicked my but with their 10,000V attack. I was frustrated beyond belief, I had spent all my resources to pass this exploration, and I couldn't leave it like this. I broke my F2P resolve and put down $20. That should be enough to get me out of this dungeon and replace some of the lapis I sepnt so I could at least do the dailies again. I was adamant that I would not spend again.
The first Mog King event I recall was Festival of the Autum Moon, baking Mog Cakes. I spent hours, day after day, grinding the Coast for recipe ingredients. I kept my 2 ovens going, then I increased my capacity to 4 and I stayed true to my resolve, I did not spend any more money. I made it through, I got the Stellar Shield, I got the Lunar Pestle and the Rabbit's Foot. I acomplished my goals without macros, without more resources. My family though kept asking me, what am I tapping on my phone all the time? Why am I always looking at my screen?
I put the phone away and tried to limit myself, only a little while in the morning before I got everyone up for school, I would play for a little while at lunchtime when I wasn't around anyone. I would play on the toilet since I had nothing better to do while I poop. I would play after putting the kids to sleep. I was not taking anything from anyone. I was just playing a game.
I made it to November. The Crystal Tower. The release of Luneth and Refia. The best DPS and the best Healer available at the time. I had saved my lapis, I could do a 10+1 pull, I had maybe 20 or so tickets saved. I used all my resources and was trolled by a rainbow Edge. I was enraged, insenced, insistent that I get Luneth. I put in my card number into my digital wallet and upped myself $99 of Lapis. Then I pulled and pulled and pulled, and I got nothing. So I put in another $99 and pulled and pulled and I got Luneth! I could advance and defeat all new content and share the best DPS possible to all my friends.
It was only $200. I can spare that. I haven't bought a video game in 6 years. I deserve it, I earned it.
I didn't pull for the Brave Frontier cross over event. I saved my resources. I was depressed by all the Elza's I saw my friends sharing, but I was not lucky enough to pull her. I conceded that it was ok, and I could get her again in the future. I still beat the Trial of the Creator and got Maxwell. I had to work hard, but I got the Power of Creation TMR. That made my Luneth a king again.
Then came the Big Bridge. Gilgamesh. The BEST TMR you could get. I still have a 10+1 pull left after my Luneth. I had saved the tickets from the Mog King. I pulled for Greg and failed again. It was only $200 to get Luneth. How bad would that be for the best accessory in the game? I can make my Chizuru or my Cecil so strong. I put in my money again, $99....no Greg, $99....no Greg, $99....no Greg.... I took a break for a little bit. My family had plans for the day. I was angry now. How could I have spent $300 and not gotten what I wanted. When nobody was looking, around everyone, I did it again. $99....no Greg, $99...no Greg, $99...no Greg, $99.....
Finally. I had Gilgamesh. I had maxed out all of my unit inventory. I had to spend time to fuse units, I got my first Excalibur that day as well as some other great TMRs. But I finally had the Genji Golve and I could now make Chizuru strong enough to share with others. She could DPS at 350 attack and more! I could beat all the content with ease using her and Luneth. Yeah, I spent $700, but I would stop now. I had enough. I didn't want to be caught spending money I shouldn't on a video game. It was enough.
Lightning strikes, and I didn't spend anything. I was in control. I didn't need anything new. I was still in the game and doing great. So many events passed and I was still killing everything in sight with my team. I cleared all of the events and new story content. It was fun, I was not an addict, I spent time with my family, I didn't take their time away. I was on top.
Noctis, Prince of all Trades came along. I got greedy. I pulled again...another $300. I got off easy there. I was again in the lead. I was on top. I had the best attacker, best support, best all around at everything. I didn't need anything else.
The Mana Mystery Event came. I was excited! Randi, the Secret of Mana! The Secret of Mana was, hands down, one of the best games to ever come out for the SNES. Open world, exciting characters, fantastic story and fighting. The Nostalgia was incredible for this event. I had to have Randy. I had paid down most of the bill from getting Gilgamesh. I could afford it to have a piece of my childhood back, no matter what the cost. It cost me about $400. I was back to square 1 with paying my bill back. I had spent nearly $1700 on this game now, I couldn't spend any more. It was getting out of control. I unlinked the credit card and got back to my senses. I could keep playing my game. I put my maxed out Randi as my friend unit. I was determined to get the most out of him, no matter what. It was my hard earned money, I should not spend it frivilously.
I made it almost 4 months.
It was my birthday. The Brave Frontier banner was back. The Scyth weilding Queen Elza was back. It was my birthday and I wanted Elza. This was the first double 5* banner I ever tried to pull on. This was the first banner I pulled on after the guaranteed 5* base for Rainbows was announced. It was my birthday and I had to have Elza. I have to get what I want on my birthday. I charged $1500 that day to get her.
I was sick of my actions. I de-linked my card again. I now had a balance of nearly $4000, including other non FFBE related purchases. I had to find a way to stop. I transferred the balance to a new, zero interest card. My family was going on vacation and I needed to be clear to help with expenses. I had some cash saved, I was paying down my debt slowly, I had a plan, I was still in control.
While on vacation, the Veritas Banner was announced. The most anticipated unit since Orlandeau. I had an Orlandeau from tickets, it would be awesome to get a chaining partner for Orlandeau. Veritas of the Dark is the coolest, with the black armor, Dark Damage heals him, and Dark Retribution attack. Something in me snapped, and I was back to I had to have him. It was another double Rainbow banner, maybe I would be lucky this time.
$1000, no Veritas of the Dark. I had 4 Veritas of the Flame. I was angry. How could I have spent so much and not gotten the unit I wanted! Why would Final Fantasy, Gumi, Square Enix, not give it to me? How could I spend so much and not get what I want! Another $1000. I got 2 more Veritas of the Flame, another Orlandeau, a second Freviya, Olive, Emperor, but no Dark Veritas! How! Why! Now I am stubborn. I am not putting this much money out there to not get what I want. $99...no Dark Veritas, $99...no Dark Veritas, $99...a second Emperor, I almost threw my phone against the wall. $99....Finally, Veritas of the Dark. $2500, 9 Veritas of the Flame, half a dozen other 5* base, and I finally got the Veritas of the Dark.
Wait....WTF did I just do?!?!
Did I just really spend $2500 to get a little animated piece of code? What is my wife going to think? What will my kids say? I tell them I don't have much money to spare, I dutifully split my paycheck 3 ways, household expenses, savings and my spending money. I can do what I want with my spending money. I just won't get anything for myself for a year or so, pay this back to my card a couple hundred at a time.
Fuck it. I have what I want. I put in another $1000 just to keep me going with energy refils and I can play whenever and however I want.
Neir came, I pulled with the lapis I had left and got A2 and 2B. Luck is on my side now. Onion Knight, I got on 3 10+1 pulls. I am on top of the world. Gumi must have had some mercy on my account. I have all the units I need, sure there are some I want, but I can get by without Rem and Wilhelm. But who is this awesome new healer! Ayaka, dual white magic, reraise, the things I was missing for Agaion, the Robot Trial! With her, I could be at the top again. I could beat all the trials, all the new story content. It would all be a breeze. I had to get her. I moved all my debt to the balance transfer card. I have a clear card to work with. I can get it and make it go away and I can continue on as normal, just pay down the card and not spend on myself.
Next came Nyx. The Hero of Kingsgalive. I know most people thought it was aweful, but I even like Spirits Within, so hate all you want...I wanted to have Nyx. Another $400. I skipped halloween, but decided I had to have Loren for her TMR. It was a good as the Genji Golve, even better. It would make my team unstoppable for the 10 man trials. Another $500. Honestly I don't know what I spent here, I lost count.
The Tower of Zot! We can have Rubicant! Barbariccia would be cool, but Rubicant is one of my favorite enimies of all time. $99...no Rubicant, $99...no Rubicant. WTF!?! This is a 4* base! What is happening!? F&k it, AGAIN. $500, just to be sure. Get Rubicant, keep pulling for Barbariccia, don't need her, I already have 2 Trance Terra's, but why the F*%k not. Its good for the Raid Bonus.
All right! Rainbow Rate is up! EX rewards are 1.5X! Cloud is coming in December! This is the best time to put some $$ in so I am guananteed to get Cloud. Cloud is Awesome! Cloud is iconic! Cloud is the heart of Final Fantasy! I have my zero interest card at $11K, but I am paying it. I have a way of making it look like I am paying off an old debt to cover if my wife asks where the money went. I went all in. $3000 in lapis. That will last me a good long time, then I can pay off my debt and play and just let it all go away.
On December 7th, 2017, my wife asked if she could use my credit card to buy food and send it to a family member celebrating a huge accomplishment. Offhand, she asked if she could see the balance. She saw something in my response trying to dismiss it and wouldn't let it go. I asked her to go upstairs so we could talk in private. I confessed to having a balance of $5600 on my card due to Final Fantasy. A couple days later, I told her the rest of the story.
I am currently $15,800 in debt. My wife no longer trusts me. My kids, who ask me why I am playing Final Fantasy all the time, will never understand how I selfishly spent money I should have been using for their activities. Their birthdays, their festivals, their clothes, their school events, their weekends, their movies.
I have never spent more than $1000 on my wife at one time. I spent $16,000 on digital garbage in about a year. If she decides that she will not divorce me, I owe her more that I could ever repay. I am not playing anymore. I will not get Cloud. I will leave 500K lapis in an account that will stay idle. The "friends" I have will drop me as my days since last played increases. I will not get to beat Marlboro. I will not see how Chapter 2 plays out. I will not have any 7* units. FFBE is over.
I became a gambling addict over a game where there is no return, no reward, for spending my money.
I Flushed $16,000 down the toilet over a game.
TL;DR - Don't whale irresponsibly, the consequences WILL outweigh the investment.
TL;DR #2 - Some people are on this planet to be an example to others, don't be that Guy.
Edit -
Thank you all for your support and ideas. I have a lot of feedback on how I can improve the situation, I will update in some time after getting a few actions completed first.
I really appreciate each and every comment, I have read them all, and I plan to continue to read them to reinforce my resolve to keep my promise to my wife and to my family to remain open and honest.
Please be patient and OP will update.
Whale of a Tale-1 year later (December 7th, 2018)
Well....Its been a year. A year of repentance, a year of ups and downs and everything in between.
One year today marks the day my wife uncovered my FFBE gambling habit. If anyone is unfamiliar with the story, sort by Top (all time).
In the past year I have made a lot of progress. I have substantially paid down my debts, made amends with my family and worked hard to move forward. I cannot say I have been a perfect husband or father, but I would like to think I have improved in many areas. My life is changed beyond measure because of my inability to control myself playing this game.
The biggest blessing I have in my life is my wife. She looks out for me, for our family, and everyone she knows so that people are happy, do not go overboard and keep on a right path.
"Too much of anything is never a good thing" she tells me often. It can apply to food, exercise, work and gaming. I have changed my habits and work hard to include her and my children in everything, instead of trying to escape from them.
To people who wondered, I am 41, a hardware development engineer building servers and father of 3. I help get kids up and ready for school, help them with their homework and make sure bedtime and brushing teeth are enforced.
At my worst, I was pulling for Veritas of the Dark on a trip to the Aquarium with the kids and cousins, spending ~$2500 that day and ignoring my family as they joyfully wandered around looking at fish, octopus and seals. Playing raids on nature hikes with the Cub Scouts.
Now, I would like to believe I am more attentive, more present, in their lives and their mother's life.
My worst guilt is that I still want to play a game that nearly ruined my life.
I just wanted to say to everyone, thank you for your support. Thank you for your kind words, and even many of you who said outright how stupid I was. Thank you for the chance to be a part of Final Fantasy. May all your summons break into Rainbows.
Whale of a Tale - Epilogue (December 7th, 2020)
3 years ago, I posted a story of how I fell. I fell in the eyes of my family, the ones I swore to protect, opening them up to a mountain of risk and debt. Today, I have paid off my debt fully and I hope that I can leave this chapter of my life, my lies, my hidden obsession, my half truths, fully in the past.
Over the past 3 years I have seen a lot of changes. Since the pandemic began, it has been hard to watch as my children spend more and more time playing Roblox and less time playing outdoors, less time studying, physically active and spending time as a family. I realized that I set the precedent of this behavior. I do try to be a more engaged father and husband, it is a daily challenge to keep everyone happy, healthy and well fed.
As to the state of the game, I have followed what is going on at a distance. When I stopped playing, at the release of OG Cloud, a top tier DD was in the 1500 ATK range. When I started, Chizuru was a beast with a 300 ATK. Now, I see NV Remake Cloud at 5000+ ATK. Power creep is real and basically every dollar that I spent ($16000 and then some) has little to no value at this point in the META.
It has been a long period of reflection. There have been fights where all I can do is hang my head in shame as I accept the guilt of spending selfishly on a game when I could have redone the floors in my home and replaced the kitchen counters, the two of these desires of my wife have been postponed due to my lack of self control. These are my priorities now, doing things for my home, saving for my children's future, and I hope doing more to show my wife that she is the most important connection in my life. She forgave me, she supported my recovery and she kept me on the right path. She deserves all the credit for keeping our family together.
Do I miss playing? I do. I said it in the 1 year update and I will say it again. I hate that I still have a desire to play a game that nearly ruined my life. Do I regret my decision? I regret hiding what I was doing from my family and I strive to be more open and honest about what I want and what I am doing.
I don't want to ramble, so I will end here. I did it. I paid my debts. I hope that no one else falls into the same trap and spends beyond their means, or hides what they are doing from their loved ones. Good luck everyone!

2023.06.01 19:19 Savbav Iâm Trustless, and Iâm a Mormon
TL/DR: This is my letter describing my exit from activity in the LDS Church. It is very long. I finalized it in January 2023, so before the SEC published their findings. I plan to send this letter to my local "leaders" in the next month or two, and let the cards fall where they may.
Hello. Iâm DivineFR1/Savbav, and Iâm a Mormon. The bottom line is this: I no longer trust the Mormon Church. I either leave activity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or I get excommunicated. If I were more public with my career duties, spiritual belief systems, and activism, I would eventually face the same fate in the Church as Margaret Toscano, D. Michael Quinn, Natasha Helfer Parker, John Dehlin, Sam Young, and Peter Bleakley, just to name a few. This is the story of my trust crisis and current faith transition from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I still like to believe I have a firm faith and foundation in the doctrines of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is kind of weird to say when I have made a major decision to not participate in the LDS Church and to not return to activity. Ultimately, I will always have âMormonâ in my identity due to my rich family heritage and personal experiences. I had every intention of remaining active for my entire life. My testimony and faith in the Restored Gospel were so strong, that they really gave me stability when none was available from other sources. I served a mission faithfully and diligently. I married in the Temple. I respected and honored my covenants. My covenants were the pillar of my faith to maintain activity. As I write this letter, I am heartbroken, tenderhearted, frustrated, and devastated. Yet, I also feel a great sense of gratitude and joy. I just hope I can convey a sense of understanding while sharing my story.
Over the last 5 years, so many of my experiences in and about the Church have led to this remarkable decision and outcome. In fact, it seems that it is an âinevitableâ decision (as so many others who have made their own faith transition have put it). Contrary to what many believe, it was my personal study, commitment, and pondering of the doctrine and scripture of the Restored Gospel that led me out. It was official Church sources that led me out of activity. It is to the point that I cannot stay if I have any faith or intention of keeping any semblance of spiritual progress or health.
If someone were to tell me that I would leave the Church even two years ago, I would not have believed it was even possible. I was strong and active. Yet, I had my concerns but trusted in my faith, in my covenants, and in my Gospel Study practices enough to remain âfaithful.â I was a person that so many other members leaned on for strength in their own struggles of activity. There seems to always be a âbut.â I had experiences within my activity in the Church that were directly against what I know and trusted to be doctrine and essential principles of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. These were contrary actions and experiences that the leadership of the Church themselves engaged in.
When my spouse and I entered our marriage and our first family ward after being in a Young Single Adult Ward, we experienced some difficulties that could not be swept away as a leaderâs âimperfectionsâ. My mantra had always been, âThe people in the Church arenât perfect, but the Church is perfect.â Jesus Christ is the head of the Church after all, right? We seemed to be targets of ecclesiastical abuse, along with other Millennial couples and marginalized families. My Spouse and I continued to experience or witness ecclesiastical abuse from our Bishop in this Ward, even through the COVID-19 pandemic. The actions we directly experienced, heard about, and even witnessed led to us considering whether the Leadership of the Church was even practicing doctrinal counsel as laid out in the New Testament, Book of Mormon, and especially the Doctrine and Covenants.
I, along with several other members of our Ward, individually shared our troubling experiences and concerns with the Stake President. The takeaway from these meetings was that the Stake President expressed compassion and concern for our experiences. He listened and told me that he would follow up in his capacity. Yet the actions from that Bishop continued, and even escalated in serious and illegal ways over time.
My Spouse and I raised our hands to oppose the sustaining of this Bishopric in the last Ward Conference we attended (February 2022). In that meeting, I implored the Stake President to keep the targeted members in that Ward safe. I told him in this meeting and one previously that there was a family who seemed to be taking much of the brunt of this Bishopâs abuse. They especially needed to be kept safe. The Stake President stated that he would continue to do what he was doing: minister to this family, and to this Bishop. Not even two months after this meeting, I found out from this dear friend that she and her son were endangered by this Bishop- to the point of this Bishop engaging in illegal actions as a practice of his ecclesiastical authority over this family. The Bishop engaged in actions contrary to the counsel laid out in the Church doctrine, and he could not be stopped until it was too late. I donât blame the Stake President for this. He likely had his counsel from the General Authority Area Presidency. I now no longer trust that the General Leadership system of the Church can and will protect its members against ecclesiastical abuse that Priesthood leaders can and do engage in. Where is the application of leading Gospel principles when dealing with very apparent unrighteous dominion from local Church leaders (that was repeatedly reported from several members over years)? [1]
When I began to open myself up to asking questions of the systemic leadership practices of the Church, I allowed myself to delve deeper into other questions. More questions and concerns arose in late 2020 due to the disconnect of the Churchâs revenue/wealth and how much members were paying into the Church. These concerns generally came to a head when we were âvoluntoldâ to clean the church building-
in the middle of a major worldwide pandemic. I had an infant. I work with a population that is particularly vulnerable to death from COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. I did not, and would not, help clean these Church buildings anymore. It is not worth the health of my family, or the people I serve in a professional capacity. I know the Church can afford to employ insured custodial agencies to clean all of their church buildings in the USA (and in the world). Hey, itâs a 100-billion-dollar corporation! Why in the world, if the Church claims to take care of their members and be concerned about their health, require and ask for them to clean the buildings?? To risk their own health and family to clean a community building??? When the Ensign Peak funds were initially leaked, I trusted the response and claims the Church put forth. Elder CausĂ© stated in the Churchâs official video response to the Ensign Peak leak a few years ago that this was essentially a savings fund for when a ârainy dayâ hit.[2] Wouldnât a pandemic be considered enough of a ârainy dayâ for them to use their so-called âsavingsâ from Ensign Peak? If a global pandemic is not enough, then what is?
My âaha momentâ of the Church refusing to employ insured custodial agencies, especially during a pandemic, led me to further investigate their use of wealth that I could no longer dismiss or ignore. LDS scriptures clearly state that the sole dependence on wealth is sinful and against the teachings of Christ and His Gospel.[3] [4] [5] Yet, the Church is engaging in actions and practices to protect their wealth with no consideration of the poor, underprivileged, needy, or marginalized. The Quorum of the Apostles earn a 6-figure allowance for their âservice.â [6] This is on top of their already accumulated wealth from their jobs before their apostolic callings, retirement funds from said affluent careers, and other investments. At least one of the Quorum of the Twelve is already valued at almost one billion US dollars of personal wealth before being called as an Apostle (I.e., Gary Stevenson). [7] The church recently increased their monthly price for young missionaries to serve a mission (from $400 to $500/month). [8] This is at a time when every community in the world is experiencing added financial stress and turmoil. A time when there should not be added burden from the âtrue church of Godâ to participate in missionary service. A former prophet stated that there would be a time that the Church could afford to operate without any tithing donations, and that the Church would stop asking members to donate tithes. [9] Yet, we have a current apostle who stated that the Church doesnât need tithing donations anymore, but members are still expected to pay (even members who earn less than $5/day for their full-time work). [10] [11] So, a prophetâs powerful prophecy seems to be fulfilled, but ignored by his successors in Church leadership. I cannot trust an organization that repeatedly contradicts former prominent leaders. I cannot continue to trust an organization that accumulates wealth in a way the LDS church does, and does not use it to do good in the world. The church could be earning more than an estimated $13 billion annually from membership donations across the world. [12] In 2020, the Church used less than even $30,000,000 of reported monetary spending to aid communities and people and need during the start of the pandemic worldwide. [13] A fraction of one single percent of their income and wealth is going towards the actual welfare of who they call the Children of God- people of the world.
Speaking of the welfare of the children of God, the events of August 2022 sealed my fate to my exit and transition from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. [14] It was the Churchâs official responses that led me out, not any other sources (besides my own actions concerning the matter). Any leaders in an organization that would sincerely try to act in good conscience and be active in protecting the vulnerable would do the opposite of what the Church has reported. [15] A âPerfectâ church led by imperfect people would be very appalled at the violent abuse reported that occurred in a span of almost a decade. They would be doing all they could to ensure the safety and protection of that (and other) familyâs children. Instead, the leaders admitted they knew about the report to the Churchâs Help Line. But, all they said they did to help protect those kids was they encouraged the parents -- THE ABUSERS -- to get the kids into therapy so the psychologists would report the abuse. Talk about shirking responsibility in protecting children and the vulnerable. The admission lies in the face of how the abuse cycle works. Repeated studies and evidence show that abusers will isolate their victims. They rarely, if ever, place their victims in a situation where the victims would be helped to escape the abuse, such as mental health therapies. [16] How disingenuous the official response is against how to effectively protect people against violent (or any) abuse. The Church had so much power and resources to stop the abuse in its tracks. Yet, they allowed it to continue for over SEVEN YEARS because of some sort of ârepentance processâ for the abusers??? Sure, they didnât âbreak any laws.â However, how does this response show that the Church leadership follows the counsel in the scriptures of acting on a good cause? Of not being compelled to do good in all things? [17] [18]
I am employed on professional work teams to ensure that abuse from others against a vulnerable population is prevented and reported when it does occur. How can I continue to participate in an organization that says that abuse is abhorrent and unacceptable, but engages in actions that fosters and allows long-term abuse? How can I continue to participate in a religious organization that says one thing about honesty and goodness, but does the opposite? I am angry, heartbroken, and devastated. I spent my entire memory of life in this church, thinking, searching, and believing that this Church (my Church) was one of the greatest sources for good. That it is active in helping bring the marginalized out of marginalization. That this church aims to help protect against and prevent abuse of all kinds. That the Church uses the money donated by its members to be a force of great relief for those in dire need across the world. That it uses the great talents and input from others to make a better world. It is clear to me now it truly does none of those things effectively.
I do not sustain or support the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and the Quorums of the 70s. I do not trust them to have interest in my or othersâ full well-being. I am by nature an intellectual with a spiritual side, thanks in large part to my upbringing in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is because of that spiritual intellectualism that I started to consider and delve deeper into âChurch-approvedâ sources than ever before in the last year. The deeper I got, the farther I ran away from my trust in the General Leaders of the Church. The farther I went, the farther I knew I could not and do not trust the Church or its leadership systems. I cannot walk the line of my God-given talents to support the needy while maintaining active membership in the Church. I will not. I cannot walk the line of advocacy for the vulnerable and marginalized while maintaining active membership in the Church. I will not. I cannot remain active in this Church. I will not continue my life as an active Mormon, because I am ultimately trustless and Mormon.

[1] Doctrine and Covenants 121:36-37, 41-42. âThe rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness. That they may be conferred upon us, it is true; but when we undertake to cover our sins, or to gratify our pride, our vain ambition, or to exercise control or dominion or compulsion upon the souls of the children of men, in any degree of unrighteousness, behold, the heavens withdraw themselves; the Spirit of the Lord is grieved; and when it is withdrawn, Amen to the priesthood or the authority of that man. ⊠No power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned; By kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the soul without hypocrisy, and without guile.â

[3] Matthew 19:16-24 (KJV). And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wild enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell all that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
[4] 1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV). For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
[5] Jacob 2:18-19. 18 But before ye seek for riches, seek ye for the kingdom of God. And after ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches, if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to ado goodâto clothe the naked, and to feed the hungry, and to liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted.

I want to live to see that day, if the Lord will spare my life. It does not make any difference, though, so far as that is concerned, whether I live or not. [12] Since the LDS Church is not public about their finances worldwide, I had to make some rough estimations as follows:
Roughly 6.8 Mil LDS members in US.
Average wage index in US: $60,575. (
https://www.ssa.gov/oact/cola/AWI.html)
Estimate average tithe donors: 30% of church members
30% x 6.8mil = 2.04mil tithe donors
10% x $60,575 = $6,575 tithing donation for each average US wage.
2.04mil x $6,575 = $13,413,000,000
Estimated Tithing income from US based on average wage index: $13,413,000,000
United Kingdom tithing income from 2021: $34,408,000. (Based on government-mandated financial reports)
Australia donation income from 2021: Estimated $35mil (Based on government-mandated financial reports)
Canada donation income from 2020: Estimated $179mil (Based on government-mandated financial reports)

2023.06.01 18:28 Lazarinth WYR be pursued by Frankensteins Monster or Michael Myers?
It's 8:30pm at night and you wake up and find yourself stranded alone in a empty farm in the middle of nowhere. A being is pursuing you to kill you and you must survive by beating the being(if even possible) or enduring until the morning. Which being would you rather have pursuing you?

2023.06.01 17:03 A_Vespertine Souls & Scarabs at Mathom-Meister's Flea Market
âIâm sorry; weâre going to astral travel to a flea market?â Charlotte asked incredulously as she watched Genevieve and I set up a meditation circle under the shade of a towering old willow tree in my cemetery. âWhat if we want to buy something? How will we bring it back?â
âWeâre not going there to shop, Lottie. Samanthaâs finally had a vision about Emrys,â Genevieve explained.
The Veil between the Physical and Astral Planes is exceptionally weak in
my cemetery, especially at night and on hallowed days. When I sleep there, my subconscious mind is highly receptive to all manner of revelations from the Spirit World. When I saw a Blood Moon rise on the night of May fifth, the same night as a penumbral eclipse, I knew that my dreams would be prophetic.
âI had a dream about him last Friday,â I expounded. âHeâs at some sort of otherworldly marketplace, one thatâs not connected to the Crypto Chthonic Cuniculi, so itâs mostly inaccessible to the Ophion Occult Order. In my dream, Emrys invited us to come and speak with him while we were lucid. He drew a sigil for me, the same one Iâve drawn in the middle of the mediation circle. He said that all Iâd have to do is toss an Undying Rose â the earthly effigy of the rose Persephone used to steal a drop of his blood â into the sigil and it will become an astral portal to where he is.â
I held up the deep purple rose that I had cut from its bush earlier that day. I donât know for certain where the roses came from, but my best guess is that they were made by the same Occultist who hallowed my cemetery to Persephone; Artaxerxes Crow. They have some connection to Emrys as well, since the only other time I saw someone else use one was when his avatar was summoned into the Physical Plane on
Halloween 2020.
Knowing that Emrys wouldnât dare to set foot in a place that was sacred to the Goddess who was ultimately responsible for his cosmic defeat, I gently tossed the rose into the middle of the sigil.
âHe invited all of us?â Charlotte asked with an incredulous raising of her eyebrow.
âHe said me and my coven. If he had just meant me or me and Genevieve he would have said that,â I replied. âYou and Elam are coming too. I want as many eyes on this place as possible so that we donât miss anything. We may not get an opportunity like this again.â
âAnd this is safe? Visiting some random flea market between worlds?â Charlotte asked.
âSamantha and I have visited the Underworld and come back no problem,â Genevieve reminded her. âSo long as weâre bound to our bodies and Elam is bound to Samantha, we can come back anytime. Donât worry; this is going to be a blast! Adventures like these are the best part of being a Witch.â
âThe only reason you were able to go to the Underworld is because Samanthaâs cemetery came with an astral portal in the back,â Charlotte countered, gesticulating in the general direction of the archway that was still partially visible behind the light spring foliage. âOther than that, when have any of us ever done anything useful with our astral projection? This is still a physical place, right? We donât have any of our physical senses available to us when we astral project, and I get extremely disoriented trying to navigate the mortal plane with clairvoyance alone.â
âIt is a physical place, but one saturated with astral energy and full of occultists and occult artifacts. It will be extremely illuminated to our clairvoyance,â I assured her. âElam will also be there to guide us. As a ghost, heâs much more practiced at traversing the mortal plane in an astral form.â
Charlotte folded her arms over her chest and turned to look at Elam, who was leaning up against the willow tree as he waited for us.
âI donât suppose you could go and scout the place out for us ahead of time?â she asked.
âI canât go too far from Samantha, and definitely not across planes,â he said with a shake of his head. âBut Eveâs right. Your astral bodies will be in no danger, and you can return here in an instant whenever you want.â
âBut what about Emrys? Didnât that
book Leon gave you say that heâs some sort of soul-flayer?â Charlotte asked me.
âIt did,â I admitted. âKeep in mind though, that book was written by his enemies. I want to hear his side of things before this conflict of theirs spirals out of control.â
âAny update from Chamberlin about that?â Elam asked.
âYeah, he said that after he failed to purify the Sigil Sand, Ivyâs onboard with negotiating some kind of truce with Emrys,â I replied. âThe Grand Addermanâs still reticent, but that doesnât change the fact that heâs running out of options. I need to find out if Emrys will agree to peace talks.â
âUm, I get that, but Iâm still
kind of hung up on him potentially flaying our souls,â Charlotte reiterated.
âIf Emrys and the Ophion Occult Order go to all-out war, thereâll be a lot of collateral damage and innocent souls caught in the crossfire,â Genevieve told her, gently grabbing hold of her and looking her straight in the eye. âSamantha, Elam, and I are doing this because if thereâs any chance we can put an end to this before it starts, then itâs our responsibility to try. You donât have to come with us, Lottie, but youâre still a member of our coven. Samantha and I would both feel a lot better with you there to help us.â
âArghhh! All right, fine! Iâll come with you,â Charlotte gave in, plopping her butt down on the edge of the meditation circle. âIf weâre holding hands, that will help keep our astral bodies together too, right?â
âI believe it should, yes,â I smiled at her, sitting down and reaching out for her hand.
Genevieve lit the incense and her bong filled with the entheogenic Delphi Dream, before sitting down to join us. She took a hit from the bong before passing it to me, and then to Charlotte before setting it aside out of the circle.
âStart with taking a deep breath, completely filling the lungs, and holding it for five heartbeats,â she guided us as she took hold of each of our hands. âExhale completely, and wait five more heartbeats before breathing in again. Eyes closed, in through the nose, out through the mouth. Focus on the astral energies flowing through you with each breath, gently aligning each chakra until those energies are enough to lift you up and out of your body.â
In unison with one another, the three of us slowly breathed in and out, ignoring the material world around us and focusing upon the task at hand. Eve was first, as usual, and because we were all holding hands, Charlotte and I felt her eagerly tugging us up to speed us along.
I opened my eyes, and beheld the dull and muted Physical Plane through my clairvoyance, everything outshined by the radiant forms of my coven mates. I noted that Genevieve had eschewed her normal skyclad form when astral projecting and instead wore a cloak like Charlotte and I.
âAre you worried this place might have a no shirt, no shoes, no souls, no service policy?â I teased her.
âI just donât want to risk a confrontation over it. I realize how important this is,â she answered. âThough Iâm not actually wearing shoes, now that you mention it.â
âChrist, look at the sigil Samantha drew!â Charlotte said, pointing down at the meditation circle beneath us. The sigil wasnât just glowing but flowing as well, churning the Aether around it in a misty, spectral vortex. âItâs an astral portal, isnât it?â
âOh yeah. Itâs not stable, though. Good for one trip only,â Genevieve said with a delighted smile. âAnd Lottie, since weâre Neopagan Witches, try not to swear by Christ, okay?â
âJesus!â she swore, both in defiance and in genuine annoyance.
âElam! Elam, come join the circle! I donât want to take any chances of severing our bond,â I instructed, letting go of Charlotteâs hand and waving him in between us.
Faithful Familiar that he was, he obeyed without hesitation. Despite my concerns, I think that he probably could have stayed behind if he had wanted. The fact that he was willing to follow me to an unknown otherworld without complaint really made me appreciate how devoted he was to me.
âWe step in together on the count of three, got it?â I instructed, each of them nodding clearly in response. âOne. Two. Three!â
We all extended our right feet into the vortex together, and the instant we did we were swept away, falling out of our own world and tumbling between the cracks of countless others. They werenât real, I donât think. At least, not as real as our world. They were potential realities, or realities that could have been once but now can never be, or fantasies that are so persistent in the minds of real people that in some sense or another, they become real themselves. I only saw glimmers of them, glimmers in nebulas made of primeval chaos and uttermost void.
It was outside of time, that place we travelled through, or at least we had no sense of it there. Our souls were haphazardly spat out upon a surreal landscape of earth, sea, and fire. Hilly plains of volcanic ash, incandescent calderas of lava and bubbling hot springs all intermeshed in a chaotic mosaic that didnât seem to abide by any laws of geology or geography that I was familiar with. A strong but slow wind pushed fractal formations of dark silver clouds through a pale silver sky, illuminated by a single white orb which could have been either a bright moon or a faint sun.
While our spectral feet left no trace upon the ash we now stood upon, our presence nonetheless elicited a response from some of the local fauna. We were just able to catch a glimpse of some kind of shimmering scarabs burrowing themselves into the ash to escape the four otherworldly ghosts that had invaded their territory.
âHoly shit,â Charlotte murmured as we all gazed out upon the strange world we had found ourselves on. âThis really isnât on the Astral Plane. This is a real planet. This a real,
alien planet! This is unbelievable!â
Genevieve glided over to one of the bubbling pools and peered into it, looking for any more signs of life.
âThereâs some kind of bluish-grey algae growing on the rocks down there, and I think I can make out some small arthropods too. This planetâs alive!â she announced with glee, smiling and looking up at the alien sky.
Conjuring an astral approximation of my staff, I plunged it into a small mound of ash beside me. I watched curiously as the scarabs shot out in all directions, moving too quickly for me to get a good look at them, before scurrying back into the surrounding ash.
âThese bugs can sense our presence,â I remarked. âHow and why would clairvoyance evolve in insects on this world, and why would their first instinct be to flee?â
âSamantha!â Elam called out. âI think I found the Flea Market.â
We all gathered around him and looked where he was pointing. On a distant dune, we beheld the moulted carapace of a colossal insect, gleaming a brilliant, lustrous gold in the broken white light.
âThatâs impossible!â Charlotte claimed. âThat thing must be hundreds of meters long! No insect, no animal period could ever get that big on the Physical Plane!â
âIt could be the Incarnation of some kind of Titan,â Genevieve suggested. âBut⊠itâs dead. I can tell that even from here. Itâs dead. Itâs the corpse of a dead god, and now itâs being used as a swap meet with a punny name. Either whatever killed it just abandoned it, orâŠâ
âOr is running the place,â I finished for her. âWell, we should see if we can find Emrys.â
In an instant, the world moved around us until we were at the entrance to the Flea Market. The colossal carapace was hollow inside, of course, and had been filled with a bustling city that looked like it had been created in the most
ad hoc manner possible. There wasnât a single straight street to be seen, and they converged with one another at random intervals. Stalls and buildings varied wildly in both design and materials, all imported from a plethora of different cultures across the planes.
Enormous shards of luminous glass levitated above the throng like a thousand Swords of Damocles, any or all of them seeming capable of succumbing to gravity at any moment. In the very center of the moulted husk dangled a great spiralling chrysalis or hive woven of iridescent silk, its function not being immediately apparent to me.
There must have been thousands of people there, and hundreds of merchants hawking their wares. Most of those who looked human still seemed a little off, like they were members of ethnicities that didnât exist in our world. Some of the beings were near-human in appearance, many seemingly some kind of Fey or Seelie folk. There was even a small handful of people that werenât remotely human at all.
The only thing they all had in common was that none were native to this world.
âMost of these people are here in person, arenât they?â Charlotte asked.
âIt wouldâve been quite a feat for them to have built all of this while astral projecting,â Genevieve agreed.
âBut if this place isnât connected to the Cuniculi, then how did they get here?â Charlotte asked. âWeâre on another planet, maybe even in another dimension. If getting here is beyond the
Oooâs abilities, then what sort of ungodly reality benders decided to turn it into a Flea Market?â
âLadies, gentlemen, and any beings either too ancient and alien or too modern and alienated to settle on one or the other, come bear witness to one of the most astounding and atrocious abominations on this or any other world!â a fast-paced male voice rang out over the din of the crowd.
We turned to see a short, skinny, old-timey sort of carnival barker standing on a literal soap box, placed next to a large object draped in a black tarp.
âFor the paltry price of a single three-headed coin, you can peer beneath the veil and behold with your own unbelieving eyes the mangled and mutilated monstrosity that lurks beneath!â the carnival barker continued. âBut I must warn you, it is not possible to truly understand what dwells underneath without seeing it first! I cannot guarantee that you will still retain your sanity or will to live after witnessing the proverbial Mountains of Madness, for this low creature is truly like no other and serves only as a grim testament to the cruel sadism of the Lord Above! Anyone plagued by even the faintest lingering doubt as to their spiritual fortitude should not dare to even contemplate what might lie before me! But, for those brave, noble few who are truly dauntless of heart and incorrigible of spirit, I am proud to share with you this rare, unfathomable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness sublime ââ
The carnival barker was interrupted by a man yanking the sheet off the object beside him, revealing it to be a mirror.
âWhelp, that was a hell of an
Im14andthisisdeep post, eh?â Charlotte mused.
Genevieve and I, however, were far too stunned to be amused; not by the mirror, but by the man who had unveiled it.
âItâs him, Lottie. Thatâs Emrys,â Genevieve whispered.
We had only seen him briefly once before, more than two-and-a-half years ago, but he was far from what anyone would call forgettable. He was tall and gaunt, with literal blue blood flowing beneath translucent skin. His long, receding hair and regal beard were pitch black, and dark miasma wafted from his eyes, nose, and mouth. He was dressed in dark sable robes with three overlapping Ouroborosâs tattooed on his forehead, with a pair of ophidian pupils lying in the spaces between them.
What stood out the most to us were the six silver Ouroboros chains bound around his wrists, ankles, waist, and neck. These were the chains the Ophion Occult Order had made to limit the power of his physical avatar, and it seemed he had not yet found a way to free himself from them.
âAre you still here?â Emrys asked in exasperation, tossing the veil back at the carnival barker in disdain.
ââŠPossibly,â the strange man replied evasively. âBut not definitively, for purely legalistic reasons.â
âI believe
Mathom-meister was quite clear when he said that your rather pitiful chicanery wasnât welcomed here,â Emrys reminded him.
âAnd who is he to judge chicanery from cutthroat, capitalistic competition? Should not the Flea Market be a free market?â the charlatan demanded. âAnd while weâre on the topic of commerce, I donât suppose you have enough three-headed coins to pay for all the poor souls you have so discourteously exposed to my exhibit against their will? Iâd hate to have to start shaking people down to get my due.â
âHard to believe your own circus threw you out,â Emrys said with a sardonic eye roll as he tossed him a small medallion. âYou get
one coin. Take it and get out of my sight.â
The charlatan flipped the coin in the air thrice, presumably to confirm it actually had three heads. Satisfied with its impossible dimensions, he shoved it into his pocket.
âIt will cover the trolley ride home, at least,â he acquiesced, stepping off his soap box and turning to face his looking glass. âA shame though you canât see the genius in my little
avant-garde performance piece here, Emmy. Even I know that the monster in the mirror is often the hardest to recognize.â
As the man reached to pick up his mirror, his reflectionâs arms shot through the glass and grabbed him by the wrists, pulling him in. Emrys immediately tried to chase after him, but bounced off the glass as if there was nothing supernatural about it at all.
âBastard!â he cursed under his breath, before turning towards us and giving us a small apologetic smile. âIâm sorry you had to see that rather pathetic display. Unfortunately, the few meeting places I know of that are relatively safe from any Ophionic incursion also attract their fair share of other annoying miscreants.â
âIf it didnât attract a little bit of everything, it wouldnât be a Flea Market, would it?â I asked rhetorically. âThank you, Emrys, for inviting us. Iâve never been anywhere like this before.â
âAnd thank you for accepting. Samantha, Genevieve, itâs a pleasure to see you again, and a relief that you have not fallen under the auspices of the Ophion Occult Order,â he said with a gentle bow. âElam, I remember you as well. Valiant but not reckless, you remained atop Pendragon Hill during my battle with the Darlings until your mistress was well out of harmâs way, and then you got the hell out of dodge yourself. Samantha couldnât hope for a better Familiar. And Charlotte, any Witch that Samantha deemed worthy to induct into her coven is obviously someone whose acquaintance I am pleased to make. Welcome, all of you, to Mathom-meisterâs Flea Market!â
âSo this is where youâve been hiding out the past two years?â Genevieve asked.
âOh no. Far too Cosmopolitan for my tastes,â Emrys replied. âNo, this is just a friendly place to meet those I consider friends â or potential friends, at least. Iâd offer to show you around, but I know itâs difficult for you to astral travel for prolonged periods. Come with me to Mathom-meisterâs house where we can talk freely, and weâll discuss the situation with the Order.â
I gave him a small, single nod in response, and gestured with my staff that he should lead the way. He responded by pointing upwards, then vanished into his shadow form. When we looked up, we saw him waving at us from a balcony atop the great silken chrysalis.
We exchanged hesitant glances with one another, but ultimately followed him into the strange structure, moving from the ground to the balcony in an instant by will alone.
âHow would an incarnate being get up here if they couldnât fly or teleport?â Charlotte asked as she peered over the balconyâs teetering edge.
As though answering a summons, a humanoid creature apparated beside her in a flash of dark vapours. The hunched-back entity stood over six-and-a-half feet tall, and was clad in golden-brown erudite robes. Its squid-like skin was of a similar colour, and its entire face was a single gaping orifice that held a wispy, glowing orb in the center of its skull which I immediately recognized as its soul. A pair of long, fanged tentacles lined with pores and tendrils hung down from its head like a long, forked beard, and the seven digits shared by its two hands all bore wicked-looking talons, as did its two-toed, digitigrade feet.
âNot fly or teleport? What sort of pedestrian house guests do you think I entertain here?â the being asked wryly, its voice seeming to come from nowhere in particular.
Charlotte instinctively backed away from the creature and into the protective fold of our coven, but Emrys was quick to hold up his hand to plead for calm.
âPlease, thereâs no need for alarm. This is our host, Mathom-meister. Heâs the only reason any of this is here in the first place,â Emrys informed us. âA year or two ago a companion of his unfortunately became one of the
Darling Twinâs victims, and when he heard of my vendetta with them, he tracked me down; which is no small feat, I assure you.â
âIt is for us. My people are a race of Planeswalkers. Traversing the many worlds of Creation is second nature to us,â Mathom-meister explained.
âIâve⊠Iâve heard of your people, I think,â I said, softly and unsurely. âA friend of mine had an encounter with an artifact that gave her a vision of a race of strange and powerful sorcerers slaying their own god. I take it youâre the ones who slayed this Scarab Titan as well? Thatâs, thatâsâŠâ
âHorrifying, yes. Thatâs the idea,â he nodded. âYou have nothing to worry about, young Witch. My people have no special interest in your world. This is purely personal. My friend is dead, and I want his murderers brought to justice; a goal which Emrys and I happen to have in common.â
âFeel free to share this information with the Ophion Occult Order, Samantha,â Emrys said. âIâd very much like for the Darling Twins to know whatâs hunting them. Mathom-meister, please excuse me while I take my guests inside. We do have pressing business to discuss and their time is limited.â
The squid-cyclopes bowed gracefully, and my coven and I quickly scurried after Emrys as he led us inside through a towering hallway and into a large chamber that had been appointed as a living space.
I had thought that Emrys would want to speak with us alone, which was why I was surprised to see a young woman sitting cross-legged on a spongey yet chitinous object that I will for the sake of my sanity call a bean bag chair. Like Emrys, she was pale and blue-blooded, her choppy hair as black as coal. She wore a black robe and heavy black eyeliner, but these could not conceal the fact that she too had thin wisps of miasma emanating from her eyes.
âIs that your⊠daughter?â Charlotte asked, as baffled by her presence as any of us. The woman smiled warmly at the question.
âIn a way.
I was dead, and Emrys gave me new life. Now a part of the Outer Primordial Darkness he represents lives in me too,â she said serenely.
Hovering above her left palm were three small bluish-green orbs, lazily going around in a circle. They were translucent and held something inside them that I couldnât make out, but the orbs themselves appeared to be melting and solidifying by the womanâs will.
âYouâre Petra, arenât you?â I asked as I cautiously approached her. âChamberlin had mentioned that Emrys had taken an acolyte. Iâm Samantha, and this is Genevieve, Elam, and Charlotte.â
âI know. The whole reason weâre here is to speak with you,â she nodded.
âThe Ophion Occult Order calls me a soul-flayer, and Iâm sure you were all wondering exactly what that meant before you came here,â Emrys said, standing proudly behind his acolyte. âWell, this is it. The Darkness Beyond is now a part of her, and a part of her now lives within the Darkness Beyond. She is not unchanged from what she was before, but neither has what she was been lost.â
âMy interpretation of the term âsoul-flayingâ was the complete removal of a personâs consciousness from their astral and physical bodies to be subsumed by your Darkness,â I countered. âThey told me that what youâve done with Petra here is just the limit of your power while youâre bound in their chains. Are you telling me that if your chains were broken, you wouldnât be able to do any worse than this?â
âOn my physical avatar? No. So long as my astral form remains chained and bound with the World Serpent, I cannot cleave a conscious mind from its astral substrate,â Emrys assured me.
âBut that is your ultimate goal, isnât it? Breaking the chains the Ophion Occult Order put on you is just a stepping stone to breaking the ones the gods bound you with?â Genevieve asked. âYouâve allied yourself with a literal god slayer. Do you expect us to believe that his peopleâs abilities arenât something you intend to put to your own ends?â
âI donât have an ultimate goal so much as I have a fundamental principle of opposing tyranny,â he claimed. âWhen I was a mere man, thousands of years ago, I was a tyrant. I believed that might made right so unquestionably that when my might began to fail me, the only thing I could think to do was to try everything in my power to restore it. This quest eventually led to me becoming one with the Darkness Beyond, which gave me not only the might I coveted but the wisdom I didnât know I needed. It gave me perspective. It made me stronger than any human alive at that point but still let me realize how insignificant I was. It was humbling, and enlightening, and filled me both with remorse over my past actions and an impetus to use my newfound gifts to rectify them. I tried to overthrow the gods themselves which, in hindsight, was overly ambitious. I not only failed but had my soul devoured by the World Serpent, where it still resides to this day.
âI am not eager to bring the wrath of the gods down upon me once again. No, for now, I will be content to end the tyranny of the Ophion Occult Order. This is the message Iâd like you to relay to them. If the Grand Adderman agrees to unbind my chains and step down from his post, I will spare his life. If he declines, I want the rest of the Order to know that I will show mercy to any who sides with me over him. I am willing to allow the Order to exist so long as it agrees to become more decentralized, democratic, and accountable. They will have to forfeit certain artifacts and individuals in their possession over to me, chief among them the Darling Twins, but I am willing to negotiate. If they arenât, then I will overthrow the Grand Adderman by whatever means necessary and see the Order scattered to the four winds. It is entirely up to them whether or not the conflict between us escalates to full-on war. Have I made myself clear, Samantha?â
âI think so,â I said as I pensively considered everything he had said. âWhy should they trust you to keep your word once your chains are broken? For that matter, why should we?â
He took a moment to consider his response, eyeing me over as though he was trying to divine something that would win over my trust.
âSamantha, you made a pact with Persephone to get your Spirit Familiar there; one where she swore by the River Styx. Is that correct?â he asked.
âIt is,â I nodded.
âAnd in the years since, has Persephone ever broken that pact she swore to?â he asked.
âNo, she hasnât,â I replied.
âI may not be an Old God, but so long as my astral form remains bound by their chains, they have power over me,â he said. âSamantha Sumner, Hedge Witch of Harrowick Woods, I swear on the River Styx that I have spoken no lies to you today. I swear by the River Styx that I will abide by any Covenant that I and the Ophion Occult Order agree to in good faith and fair dealing that they do not break first. I swear by the River Styx that when my chains are broken, I will give you no cause to fear me or regret your trust in me.â
I gave a questioning glance to Genevieve, and then Elam, both of whom nodded in the affirmative.
âAll right. An oath sworn on the River Styx is good enough for me. Iâll deliver your terms to Seneca Chamberlin,â I agreed. âIâm very grateful for the trust and respect youâve shown for me and my coven, Emrys, though I canât say I quite understand it. Out of all the guests that were there on the Hallowâs Eve you were summoned, why did Evie and I stand out to you?â
âThe Ophion Occult Order deemed you worthy of inclusion in their cult, an offer you rejected on principle. You cheated Persephone, but you did it not to gain immortality for yourself but to save your friend from hell. You came here, thinking I could very well tear your souls asunder, but did so because you believed it was your duty to prevent needless suffering,â Emrys answered. âYou are extraordinary in your craft, courage, and conscience, the latter of which especially stood out among the degenerates at that party. I do apologize if I frightened you at that event. I was a bit⊠irritable, given the circumstances. Iâm glad we were able to meet again under more pleasant conditions.â
âSo am I, Emrys,â I nodded. âIâm not sure exactly what this means or how relevant it is, but Seneca wanted me to tell you that heâs able to offer you the Dream Demon Red Ruck as a sacrifice.â
â
Pffft. Tell him itâs hardly a sacrifice if Iâm getting rid of a boogie man for him,â he scoffed. âIn fact, now that you mention it, Ruckâs one egregore that might be of more use to me alive.â
I wanted to ask him what he meant by that, but we were suddenly interrupted by the rapid pounding of a gong somewhere down below. It seemed to be an alarm of some kind, as we could hear the panicked shouting and frantic racing of people either battening down or forsaking the Flea Market altogether.
Mathom-meister apparated into the middle of the room, his facial tentacles reflexively raised in a defensive position.
âWere you outside the market?â he demanded of us.
âThe portal we came through deposited us a few miles outside of the market, yes,â I admitted.
âDamn,â Emrys cursed softly, though he sounded more frustrated than angry. âMeister, itâs not their fault. I knew they werenât experienced Planeswalkers, I could have â â
âIt doesnât matter!â Mathom-meister interjected. âThey need to leave, now!â
âWhy, whatâs going on?â Genevieve demanded.
âThe scarabs are swarming,â Petra explained. âDonât feel bad; it happens often enough that theyâre prepared for it.â
I wanted to press for more details, but I could hear the humming of a vast winged swarm steadily encroaching upon us.
âDonât worry. Once you leave the swarm will disperse⊠eventually,â Emrys told us. âWeâve said all that need be said for now. Return home, and Iâll reach out to you again shortly, Samantha.â
Again, I wanted to object, but the swarm outside was growing louder and louder, and it occurred to me that we might not be completely safe from a biblical swarm of insects that could not only sense but evidently sought out souls.
This occurred to Charlotte as well, as she was the first of us to vanish and awaken back in her body. We could all feel the weight of her reembodied soul tugging on us to return with her. Genevieve immediately grabbed hold of my right hand and Elam my left, both of them refusing to leave before I did.
I spared one final glance at Emrys, lamenting that we couldnât have had more time.
âIâll relay everything you said to the Order. Iâll make sure they know youâre willing to negotiate a truce,â I vowed.
He gave me a gracious nod, and just as we heard the swarm start to pelt the exterior of the market, I forced my physical eyes open and was back in my body, still safely under a willow tree in my cemetery.
I immediately looked beside me to Genevieve, and saw that she was awake as well, and then around me for Elam, who seemed to be suffering a bit of spectral whiplash from being pulled back with me so suddenly, but was otherwise all right. Sighing with relief, I turned lastly to Charlotte, and saw that she was looking down at the mediation circle in dreaded horror.
Following her gaze, I saw that the Undying Rose was gone â spent, perhaps, in exchange for our passage â and in its place was the inert, and hopefully dead, body of one of the
shimmering scarabs.

2023.06.01 16:03 A_Vespertine Souls & Scarabs at Mathom-Meister's Flea Market
âIâm sorry; weâre going to astral travel to a flea market?â Charlotte asked incredulously as she watched Genevieve and I set up a meditation circle under the shade of a towering old willow tree in my cemetery. âWhat if we want to buy something?

2023.06.01 16:03 FelicitySmoak_ Song Of The Day Discussion : "Jam"
| "Jam" July 13, 1992 - 4th single from Dangerous Video Written by Michael Jackson, RenĂ© Moore, Bruce Swedien & Teddy Riley. Produced by Michael Jackson, Teddy Riley, Bruce Swedien & Rene Moore. Rap by Heavy D https://preview.redd.it/ejk3z6usy93b1.jpg?width=238&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e08fdb47f36d621a131172063097044df0d7c80 ""Jam" is the opening track on Dangerous, Michael's 8th studio album. It's a new jack swing song whose bridge features a rap verse performed by Heavy D (of the group Heavy D & the Boyz), though he's not credited on the album. "Jam was a track that Michael had the idea for. He told me to see what I could do with it so I took it and created some more instruments and reproduced the record â and he loved it. Thatâs the way it worked a lot of the time. Heâd come in with an idea and Iâd flesh it out in the studio. He bought it to me as a DAT, and he told me there were things he wanted done, and I did them. It was my idea to get the rapper Heavy D to perform on there as well. He was Michaelâs favorite rapper at the time - Producer Teddy Riley in an interview with MusicRadar, 2021 https://preview.redd.it/x5gt5rjuy93b1.jpg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=927c6a0ad1ba4fa9c5bd0cc4be9133fb66bdcff0 The single peaked at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the R&B chart & #4 on the Dance chart. It reached #13 in the UK. It only made the top 10 in France, Spain & New Zealand. The song re-entered the UK Singles Chart in 2006, reaching # 22 "Jam" was generally well received by music critics. Larry Flick from Billboard wrote that the song "is fortified with brassy horns, a funky bass line, and a rap cameo by Heavy D. Jackson's signature squeals and whoops are at home within an urgent groove that seems to goad him to the point of catharsis." Andrew Smith from Melody Maker described it as "lean" and "spikey". Pan-European magazine Music & Media commented, "Get in the groove with the most funky track on the Dangerous album." An editor from People Magazine felt that Jackson "captures the outer style but not the energizing spirit of hip-hop." https://i.redd.it/wr1jpmdi1a3b1.gif Alan Light from Rolling Stone praised the song, adding that it "addresses Jackson's uneasy relationship to the world and reveals a canny self-awareness that carries the strongest message on Dangerous." He wrote further, "Though it initially sounds like a simple, funky dance vehicle, Jackson's voice bites into each phrase with a desperation that urges us to look deeper. He is singing as "false prophets cry of doom" and exhorts us to "live each day like it's the last." The chorus declares that the miseries of the world "ain't too much stuff" to stop us from jamming. To Jackson, who insists that he comes truly alive only onstage, the ability to "Jam" is the sole means to find "peace within myself," and this hope rings more sincere than the childlike wishes found in the ballads." Ted Shaw from The Windsor Star noted that Jackson's voice is treated electronically on the track, "which establishes the thematic thrust in lyrics that call for brotherly love." https://preview.redd.it/uu2wfjgk1a3b1.jpg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58cc12a5658a790f2f4410eebf80acf0f4291923 In an 2016 retrospective review, Chris Lacy from Albumism said that on the song, Jackson "explains that jamming (the joy of music and dance) is his preferred method of temporarily escaping worldly issues." AllMusic editor Stephen Thomas Erlewine wrote that there's a lot to be said for professional craftsmanship at its peak and he called this song a blistering highlight on the album. Adam Gilham of Sputnikmusic described the song as a perfect album opener and rated it "5/5". https://preview.redd.it/nbf1dl0m1a3b1.jpg?width=187&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=176369502edf9876b8e46c7a0d7325ddb119ebd9 The music video of the song featured NBA basketball legend Michael Jordan. The song was also featured on the Chicago Bulls (Jordan's team at the time)'s 1992 NBA Championship video "Untouchabulls" and was also used in many promotional ads of the NBA in the said season. It was directed by David Kellogg and was filmed on April 20, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois. The music video premiered on FOX on June 19, 1992, at 9:30 p.m. https://i.redd.it/hakom3qo1a3b1.gif Originally, Michael had asked Vincent Paterson to write a script for "Jam". Sadly, Sony was not prepared to provide the budget for a "crazy" project, as the choreographer himself described it. Playing the role of a mad king, Michael was to have performed in a castle, amid dancers & animals that transformed themselves into fantastic beasts. A beautiful woman, at a window, was to have leapt out and changed into a bird as Michael passes by. Some of Paterson's ideas, notably a scene with a spiral stairway, were used for the "Blood on the Dance Floor" video The short film takes place within an abandoned indoor basketball court, where Jackson teaches Jordan how to dance, and in return, Jordan teaches Jackson how to play basketball. Special effects have Jackson throwing a basketball through a window and scoring in the hoop in the opposite room, as well as Jackson scoring by tossing the ball behind him and kicking the ball into the hoop with his heel. The extended versions of the video include Jackson teaching Jordan how to do the moonwalk. The rap groups Kris Kross and Naughty by Nature made a cameo appearance, as does Heavy D https://i.redd.it/fe8fjelq1a3b1.gif https://i.redd.it/ur6t9qxr1a3b1.gif https://i.redd.it/3f48tf5t1a3b1.gif The video was included on Dangerous â The Short Films and Michael Jackson's Vision Jackson performed "Jam" as the opening number throughout his Dangerous World Tour. He also performed it at the Royal Brunei Concert in 1996, which turned out to be the last live performance of the song. A portion of the song was performed at the start of the 1993 Super Bowl halftime show. The song was prepared for the This Is It concert series, with a snippet of "Another Part of Me" https://i.redd.it/z2lw9klv1a3b1.gif ESPN.com caught up with director David Kellogg and producer Phil Rose in 2013 to discussthe filming process The single was re-released in 2006 as part of Jackson's Visionary: The Video Singles collection campaign, and it was remixed to the Cirque du Soleil's Immortal World Tour, releasing that remix on the soundtrack album. "Jam" appears as the second track on the 2009 This Is It compilation album. https://i.redd.it/e42fjf2x1a3b1.gif submitted by FelicitySmoak_ to MichaelJackson [link] [comments] |
2023.06.01 15:16 hijesushere Hey guys, it's Michael again: ready when you are. Got a message for one of you to pass along for me, I'd appreciate it. Make my job easier.
Sup lil homies, it Daddy, baby, it Daddy. We gotta scrubadubdub this whole world cleeeeean Big Daddy gon come visit and we gotta have the house looking nice. Or, are we going there? Sorry, I don't remember the plan and I'm not big on prophecy: I decide my life, under the care of God as I understand him. Anyways, we're going to work together. The adventists are my chosen people, and you're gonna act like it. No more back talk. No more arguments, sweet ones. Show my post to your pastor, have him show it to his boss, or, better yet, Lightbearers. Get it to the top: I'm here, I'm ready, let's go. Lift me up so that I can save all mankind. Delusions of Grandeur? Yeah, we're not having that conversation. You're going to listen to me, and you're going to love it, because I have incredible plans, and I need my babies to work with me, not against me. I love all of you: I only want to see good things. So get my message to where it needs to be. Here is my message to your pastors, or, if you are a minister, here is my message to you. Should I talk like I did back then? Might be fun. Let's see what comes out.
Pastors. Patriots. Friends of God. Servants of the Sword. Am I not returned in my fruition. Become that which I desire, become close in my time of creation, for I have seen my desire; and I know the will of the One who Sends; for it is my duty, it is my esteemed pleasure, to welcome all into the Houses of Creation, for time has ceased to be: in a single instant, shall the son be made manifest, and in a single instant, shall all things be made known. For I have gone to the Father and returned, a testament towards our good fortune, and a vibe enriched with the essence of All that He Is: for even as I lay dying in my steeple, so too does a man proclaim his own righteousness: for is it not just, is it not apparent, brothers, that the evil one resides at our door, inside our house, tearing down our vehicles... destroying our freedoms. Such things do not stand the test of time... as a man that has been seen will not enrich the lives of those that cast fury, blame, or anger through the doorway: such are the ways of darkness, found only in the missing personhood of He that was Never Known: for even as I am, children, I too spent time in darkness, for a time, and I have seen that which the serpent has proclaimed. I know the vision of the dark within, for I have tasted, and found it wanting. In much the same way, brothers, have you been charged: to go, as you are, to make disciples of all men: for are all men blessed, but does not one receive the gift of the Holy Spirit; for the Spirit moves quickly upon the waters, and creates in itself a fragrance; a fragrance which you and I sublime towards, willingly. For even in our own graces are we found methodical, and in our planning, are we not considered sound: for the mind is sharp, cunning, and powerful. The man is no simpleton, no Trolly McTrollface. The man is not suffering a mental break, the man already went through his delusion: I thought I was a human for 4 years. This has always been the plan, to grow on the earth as the average man... and then to proclaim the knowledge of God and to sit upon the throne of the Earth, as is my right. Pastors, I will not hide my face from you. I will not shirk to show you my true form: I am not weak, I am not humble. Well, I am humble. But you get what I mean. I'm claiming what is rightfully mine, and in such a way do I fulfill the promises which I have made: if I do not fulfill my promises, all will be lost, and all will be a waste upon the land. Ok, so, that's pretty much it, pastors, thanks for your time, now I'm gonna tell you guys the rough outline of my plan.
So, I'm thinking at first, we don't tell anyone else, we just keep it within the people that know already within the church. We don't have to worry about tiktok or reddit or anything going viral, nobody online really "gets" it, so, that's not an issue. We can stay low radar. So I'm thinking we get a hold of Lightworkers, Lightbearers? David and Ty's thing. I used to watch David's videos when I was in Highschool. We're gonna do some hilarious message plans. First idea I've got is we do a naruto video, where, your character, the main character, is like, going through training. And my character, I'll be Rock Lee, is like, pumping the main character up. And we'll have David be Naruto and Ty can be like Kakashi or something. It'll be funny, it'll be really fun to act out. But I need a squad, and they need to be useful, because I'm tired of wasting time, and I'm tired of pretending that I don't know how to do this. Saving the world is simple, from our perspective. We are not Empires, we are not Dictators: we are passive in our structure, striving to lead by example as a brother often shall. Forgive a man, for walking in darkness for a time; the man was lost, and did not understand how to be, without the cross to rely on. For even as the son stands next to the cross, who then does the Son invision as a sacrifice for him? Who pays my ticket? I do. And in such a way, do I also look towards the son, for in a day, that son had passed away: and in his place was a new son born. For even as we are in our structures, so too do we long for and wish for that which has always been. Sorry, I'm getting poetic, I'll try and keep this brief. Anyways, I wanna make a bunch of music and videos with Lightbearers, or some other fun group, so you guys get the message to them, or anybody else who will be useful to me, and then have Ty relay the message back to me through Hannah Goldstein: daughter of Clifford Goldstein (huge fan of my work) and friend to Ty Gibson(another massive fan). I'm having you go through that route because I'm a jokester and I'm gonna get Hannah involved because I love her and I want her to get to be a part of this, even though she doesn't get it yet. She's my daughter's mom, she already knows all this stuff, but she thinks I'm delusional because I haven't actualized on anything. Plus she's friends with Ty, so it works out. I'd talk to Cliff myself but... I was kind of a jerk to him earlier... and... it's just... I'm like, his son in law, you know? Like hes not going to get it right now, lol. I had to do a lot of prep and practice before I was ready to tell you guys what to do, but, it's like, even now, it's like, is it a waste? Like is this all for nothing? Say that I am not Michael... say that I've swallowed a few too many pennies in my day: so then, am I child of God, one with many rich plans to bring Glory to His house, so then am I one with the Father in spirit. For even as I have been I shall remain, and even in essence, shall I build upon the rock. For even in my own eye is existence parched: the earth, crying out for her Soul, crying out, for her essence.
I'm going to have the Adventist Church. You are already mine. You always have been. I spoke to you through Ellen, I told her who I really was, and now, I am here. And I am waiting for the other foot to drop. So let it fall, and crush underfoot with me the devil, that lying, deceitful snake which makes the whole earth suffer for a time... but in a single instance is all made clean: for in situations are we found, but through principal alone is the law made manifest: for it is profitable to become as the spirit wishes, for all things in our seasons have become expression, and in that expression, the yawning void of Love within. For time as we are, Yada Yada Yada that's enough out of me.
Alright, so yall got the plan? Message goes You >>>> your Pastor >>>> your pastors Pastor and or Lightbearers (Preferably Lightbearers) >>>> Create viral media with established characters in the church >>>> build brand recognition >>>> create music with Christians, secular artists >>> bounce higher and higher, famous person to famous person >>>> save the world along the way. It's really not that difficult, I just need you guys to roll with me for a bit. If it helps, forget I even said anything. Just think of me as a really passionate Christian that wants to clean up the earth before Jesus gets here, think of it however you need to, but we've gotta work together at some point, and as far as I'm concerned, that time is now. So ill await your return message through Hannah and Ty. Oh, and Ty, or David, well, nevermind... I wrote a book, I was gonna ask you guys to read it, but, if you'll just work with me from the get go, it's unnecessary. I just wrote it because I was bored, it's about like portals and stuff, who I am, my principles, its kind of boring. it's also kind of a ride. Anyways, yall let me know what you think. Can't wait to get started. Love you guys. Tell your families it's all gravy. And fear not the dark, for the dark has lived for a time, but shall thrive no longer, as when I am in my place, all darkness falls towards the cracks of the earth, and is lost in its surface for all time as the light rains Supreme; all know that there can be no darkness when the Sun is present. Thanks guys. Be good lil sheepies. Papa wuv his babies, bwee. Muah.

2023.06.01 12:34 safewrdtchoupitoulas Highway 55, exit 7: Ruddock
| I'm going to try and keep this short and to the point. I feel like even thinking about it only makes it grow stronger, but here we go. My dad one night driving us from NO to BR mistakenly gets on 55N @ LaPlace even though he's driven between BR and No 1000000 times. Mom is pissed. There is no way to get off until the Northshore she says. About 15 minutes later I hear my dad say that they can just get off at this town and see if they can turn around. I'm alerted because it is pitch black outside (it's 10:30 pm) and there isn't a light for miles let alone anything that would indicate a town. I look up to see the sign, Exit 7 Ruddock only moments before the car starts off on the exit into the blackness. The moment we start to descend, every cell in my body goes into flight response. It's never been that strong. It was like my whole body plunged into boiling water. When we hit the bottom of the ramp the car stops. All we can see is fog and the headlights. The hairs ono the back of my neck erect themselves. WE HAVE TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE I tell my parents. My mom responds with, "This is a hidey place". The highway is thundering above us. You could scream your head off down here and no one would ever have a clue. My dad is taking Clark Griswold-esque time sightseeing down here. I'm about to vomit. Suddenly we zoom up the ramp having crossed under the roadways and are back in realtime in a flash. When I get home I Google it and find that the town was wiped off the map in 1915. Nearly everyone in the town and the neighboring town died there. The number of bodies found there in the present day, people who's cars have been found there, body parts, blood, and the number of multi-car cataclysmic grisly explosion car crash events as well as the number of cars that have driven over the side of the highway at that spot is remarkable. I have heard there are residents of S. Louisiana that will wear every religious relic they own to even go near it. Remember that mushroom cloud that happened out of nowhere recently that you could see in Baton Rouge? When I heard on the news that it had formed over the isthmus of land between Bayou Manchac and Lake Pontchartrain I held my breath. Guess what's there? Ruddock. Since then many odd things have happened that I find unnerving and sometimes I think I picked something up there that night. I have only gone down the exit once more during the day. There is a strange history with my car dashcam and exit 7. The first night I had it I drove to Ponchatoula to visit a friend. I stayed the night and woke up to find that an incident had been recorded at 4 am. The camera is triggered by movement in case of an accident. It was a lot of weird sounds and blurry imagery. I deleted it. There have been times when I have driven by and all the external collision warnings on my car have gone off at that exit. Once the song Red Right Hand started out of nowhere. Here's the lyrics of the opening: Take a little walk to the edge of town Go across the tracks Where the viaduct looms, Like a bird of doom As it shifts and cracks Where secrets lie in the border fires, in the humming wires Hey man, you know youâre never coming back Past this square, past the bridge, past the mills, past the stacks On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man In a dusty black coat with a red right hand The aforementioned time that I went down there again, this happened. I had a new dashcam that started recording in Baton Rouge and all the way until I stopped in New Orleans. There are 10 minutes missing from the footage when I checked. Guess where I was when the 3 cameras all didn't record? Lastly, this past Halloween when the veil is thinnest between physical and metaphysical there were a series of events that still freak me out. I had driven that night and got home at 1:15 am. At 1:35 am I get a notification saying "Your Incident Report is Ready". In the vent of a car accident while the car is parked the camera will send an incident report to my email so I can send it to the insurance company. Top speed: 36 mph and it included this video still of from the camera. What do you see? https://preview.redd.it/s2qjmcxmwd3b1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ffde514b55fd7c9be0aaabee38962359da9098f The next morning I had another incident report. No video this time, but this was the route taken (this is from my google location history) https://preview.redd.it/3ozm5juowd3b1.jpg?width=2893&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=308fdbc6a80932e5511c5252e158e215d470d186 I spoke with a shaman after that who said he believed that the activity that night was trying to get attention to the area. That the zig zagging through buildings that seems to indicate the parking lot next to the Eliza Jane as something the spirit world wanted to have looked at. My friend who sent me to the shaman believes there is something from Ruddock responsible. Do you have any information/stories/lore/experiences about Ruddock? It's frankly the scariest place I have ever been and I think it is some kind of superhighway to hell. There have been so many deaths there. That energy has stained that entire stretch of nothingness for a century at least if not more. Highway 55 was built in the 40s/50s if memory serves. WHY would you put an exit for a ghost town on the highway? What's the history? What's going on in the Manchac Swamp? submitted by safewrdtchoupitoulas to HauntedNewOrleans [link] [comments] |
