2023.06.07 11:30 rdaughterart I'm looking for the name of a PC game I played when i was a kid, but I can't find it..
I played a computer game when I was young, I searched for it a lot and did not find it? All I remember is that this PC game name had the word DRAGON 🐉 or THE DRAGON 🐉 , The hero was a girl, and it was an open world game. I also remember that at the beginning of the game i was attacked by monsters little ones There was also an attack on the city at the beginning of the game, There was an old man who was dying and I talked to him and he sent me to a place that looked like a temple and there was a book in it, I think the little monsters killed the brother or friend of the heroine at the beginning of the game .. That's all I remember …

2023.06.07 11:29 Huge_Mind459 Grooming in childhood, unhealthy relationship with sexuality
TW: grooming, pedophelia
I dont really know how to start but i need so write about it somewhere because its something that makes me actually depressed.
When I was a little Girl i was always extremely anxious, I still have a lot of mental health problems because of other traumatic things that happened during my childhood, i came from a household that wasnt stable. My dad was a bad guy who always slept with women in prostitution and also talked openly about it, he abused my mom. He never did something to me in a sexual way, i still wonder what happened in the past. One of the worst things out of everything traumatic that happened in my childhood& life was how i was getting familiar with sexuality. I dont really remember how i was when i was 3 years old and what really happened but as far as i know my sexuality was already "weird" at that time. My mom told me i sometimes touched other people in an intimate way and suddenly started to walk around naked even in kindergarden. I also lately found a diary from third grade where i wrote extreme intimate things. Anyways, the time i remember good was from age 10-12. My dad still lived with us and till my mom found out that he was intimate with young woman and then finally kicked him fully out.. but my troubles with sexuality started to be worse then i ever could have imagine. After he was kicked out I started to skip school a lot and when I was home i tried to wear my moms high heels even tho they didnt fit, i even wore her make up and tried to look like an adult. This went on till i was 11 years old and then got groomed. I had my first phone, i know i was young and this was a huge mistake, especially since my mom didnt really took care of what im doing with it. In my class many people started to get phones. I also searched up weird things, even tho i cant remember that I actually knew what "sex" really means but i always looked it up. I downloaded instagram and went on forum's. I posted pictures of myself, selfies and always had my age in my bio "11 yeas old" lol. Many old men came to follow and text me. I responded to some. Eventually you know what happens, they asked intimate questions "did you ever touch yourself" surprisingly i never did that or atleast not during that time (for sure I didnt know what he really meant). I said "no" and the men said "its normal" gave me an instruction and told me to show them. I did. During this time i showed myself in a even more hypersexual way, dressing more and more weird, touching myself in places you shouldnt do that, sending pictures to everyone that started to get in touch with me, because i thought its normal like a selfie. Since i didnt had much education on sexual topics I did really weird things when it came to touching.. and so on.. i cant even talk about most things because they are pretty f up. I almost did everything the men told me to and what they showed me, since they sended me p0rn. When I was 12 it finally stopped, ( I dont really remember why things stopped , maybe something just changed in my life, my father was kicked out before and when it stopped he left the city completely, maybe i needed him completely gone from me to have peace.) atleast online it stopped, when i was 13- 14 i sometimes met a few guys that were older, instead of being hypersexual I actually became wary doing this time so nothing happened and when someone tried (which sadly happened) I got away. But the effects of the things i showed people and the things i did had a lot of after affects besides being more wary. A few months later i realized even more how wrong everything was, i showered almost everyday, i was crying, i wanted to rip of my breasts when they started to grow more. I cried when i tried to touch myself. I never told anyone besides a few friends what happened, like i said i wonder what happened when i was 3.. since it seemed to even started at this time. When I was 16 it was the last time i switched between hyper sexual and not sexual at all. I repeated my trauma in some kind of way. I stopped again. Now im still young, but i still suffer a lot from the past, I cant remember all, i dont know if ever in my life i actually got sexually assaulted in RL before age 14 or not. I still hate my sexuality and never had a stable relationship or boyfriend, i met a few men but i always ghosted them afterwards, overall pushed them away. I cant kiss people or overall be intimate without crying and feeling ashamed. I dont think that i actually had a sexuality before age 14, i just did what i was told, saw or Encountered, I dont think i actually felt something. I dont know what to do. Sometimes im also fine with not having a relationship, but also i wish I could have a healthy sexuality and meet people, go party, dont be triggered by just the word "sex". Im still hurting, how could these people take advantage of a child in such awful way.

2023.06.07 11:29 furkanblvck Filter in a different colum based on input
I have an excel table with music. The main worksheet("Songs") has the colums: song name, artist, album, language, genre, playlist, file name and the path to the file.
Now I have another worksheet("Filter") where I want to apply filter. My current VBA code can apply the filters all to the column R (file name). But I want to specify in which column the filter should be applied.
So if a1 says "artist", the filter (which is in B1) is applied to column r. If "genre" is in a1, then the filter in column p is applied.
Pre Filter | Filter |
artist | The Weeknd |
genre | Pop |
language | Englisch |
playlist | HipHop |
Sub ExportFilteredSongsToTextFiles()
Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim filterWs As Worksheet
Dim lastRow As Long
Dim rng As Range
Dim filterCell As Range
Dim songCell As Range
Dim filePath As String
Dim fileNum As Integer
Dim filterCriteria As String
' Set the worksheet that contains the song data
Set ws = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Songs") ' Ändere "Songs" auf den Namen deines Arbeitsblatts
' Set the worksheet that contains the filter criteria
Set filterWs = ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Filter") ' Ändere "Filter" auf den Namen deines Filter-Arbeitsblatts
' Get the last row in column A
lastRow = ws.Cells(ws.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row
' Set the range that contains the song data (starting from column S)
Set rng = ws.Range("S2:S" & lastRow) ' Ändere "Q" auf die letzte Spalte deines Datenbereichs
' Loop through each cell in the filter range and create a text file for each filter value
For Each filterCell In filterWs.Range("A1:A" & filterWs.Cells(filterWs.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row)
filterCriteria = filterCell.Value
' Set the file path for the text file using the filter value as the file name
filePath = "C:\Musik Bot\Playlists\test\" & filterCriteria & ".txt" ' Ändere den Dateipfad auf den gewünschten Speicherort und verwende filterCriteria als Dateinamen
' Open the text file for writing
fileNum = FreeFile
Open filePath For Output As fileNum
' Apply the filter in column R
rng.AutoFilter Field:=18, Criteria1:="*" & filterCriteria & "*", Operator:=xlFilterValues
' Loop through each visible row in the filtered range and write the song data to the text file
For Each songCell In rng.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeVisible)
Print #fileNum, songCell.Value
Next songCell
' Turn off the filter
ws.AutoFilterMode = False
' Close the text file
Close fileNum
MsgBox "Die gefilterten Songs wurden erfolgreich in die Textdatei " & filterCriteria & ".txt exportiert.", vbInformation
Next filterCell
End Sub
This is my current code. It can export the song names into a .txt with the filter in A1. But i couldn't get it to work with the "pre filter".

2023.06.07 11:28 Nftmk JPMorgan uses blockchain for instant USD transfers to India !
JPMorgan partners with six Indian banks to use a blockchain platform for quick interbank US dollar transactions in India's new international financial hub. The 24/7, real-time blockchain system is aimed at replacing the existing settlement system which has operational constraints due to time-zone differences and limited working hours. The initiative is aligned with New Delhi's ambition to make Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) a competitive global trading center. In a daring leap into the future of finance, banking giant JPMorgan has announced an alliance with six prominent Indian banks to employ a cutting-edge blockchain platform that will facilitate swift interbank US dollar transfers.
This bold initiative is slated to put India’s emerging global financial hub on the fast track to success.
JPMorgan breaking barriers with blockchain
At the heart of this initiative, Kaustubh Kulkarni, JPMorgan’s Senior Country Officer for India and Vice Chairman for Asia Pacific, revealed plans for a pilot project in a recent interview.
The intent is to gain a deep understanding of the bank’s experiences with the new system. JPMorgan will be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with India’s leading private financial institutions – HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Yes Bank, and IndusInd Bank – and with its own banking unit at GIFT City for this groundbreaking endeavor.
The application of blockchain technology promises to expedite transactions, making them instantaneous. In contrast to the current settlement system, which can take several hours to finalize and does not operate on weekends or public holidays, this novel, real-time blockchain-backed system will be available round the clock.
Kulkarni emphasized the benefits of harnessing blockchain technology for this purpose. “By leveraging blockchain technology to facilitate transactions on a 24×7 basis, the processing is instantaneous and enables GIFT City banks to support their own time zone and operating hours,” he said.
This ambitious move by JPMorgan gives a significant boost to New Delhi’s endeavor to establish Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, popularly known as GIFT City, as a rival to the trading centers in Singapore and Dubai.
It closely follows the Reserve Bank of India’s initiation of a domestic non-deliverable forward market settled in US dollars at GIFT City.
With the backing of JPMorgan’s blockchain platform, Onyx, the pilot project is poised to launch after getting the green light from the International Financial Services Center Authority.
Formed in 2020, Onyx is the innovative cornerstone of JPMorgan’s strategy for wholesale payment transactions using blockchain technology.

2023.06.07 11:28 Bn0503 Ideas for a hobby for my husband?
My husband used to play American football every Sunday and did a 1:1 boxing lesson in the week but in the past few months his team folded due to lack of players and he's had to stop boxing because he works nights and couldn't consistently make it. He's told me this morning he's feeling really down and lonely because he doesn't really have friends outside these activities.
He's about to be 30 and into sports and gaming, things like pokemon as well. He has been to a morning playing pokemon cards a few weeks ago but they're only held once every three months or so. Any ideas on things I can encourage him to get involved in? We have 2 young kids as well and he works nights in the week so not something that will take up all the weekend if possible because it's the only time the kids get to see him.

2023.06.07 11:28 webuyequipment Tips for Selling Heavy Equipment - Interstate Heavy Equipment
| It’s not easy to sell large machinery. And deciding which equipment listing sites are worth the time and effort against which aren’t. Many construction equipment businesses have difficulty selling their products via the internet. With that in mind, here are nine of our best online tips for selling heavy equipment. Heavy equipment is a niche market—few individuals shop for quarter-million-dollar construction machines, and even fewer have the funds to make a purchase. Even if you discover a few interested people and have the financial means to buy a $100,000 excavator or a $300,000 bulldozer, they may not live in your area and be unwilling to bear the price of transporting the machine across the state or nation. Selling heavy equipment is similar to selling real estate in that you must be willing to play the long game. The average 972M wheel loader, for example, waits on the market for 105 days before being purchased, according to MachineryTrader.com. So, keep trying if you still don’t have any sales. The suitable buyer will eventually discover you if you do your best to get your equipment listings seen. 1. Place an ad on Machinery Trader for your equipment. Intestate Heavy Equipment is still one of the most popular websites for heavy equipment shopping. At the top of Google search results, it routinely appears for high-volume search terms such as “excavators for sale” or “heavy equipment sales.” 2. Place an ad on Craigslist for your equipment. Although you might not think of Craigslist as the first place to look for expensive construction equipment, it does have an entire heavy equipment category dedicated to it. The Craigslist Heavy Equipment page for Las Vegas, for example, featured 1050 local sales listings at the time of writing. Pros: Equipment owners’ listings are free. Furthermore, “heavy machinery for sale Craigslist is an online classified ad service”is a popular Google search word. It indicates that many individuals are looking for heavy equipment on Craigslist. Cons: Sellers are discouraged from offering equipment outside the city where their business is situated on Craigslist. For example, if your company is based in Las Vegas and you try to list your equipment in other cities, such as Los Angeles or Phoenix, your listing may be marked for removal. Don’t include your email address when listing your equipment. Scammers and hackers have used Craigslist to send phishing emails. However, if someone is interested in purchasing something, they will call—so all you need to include is your phone number and website. https://preview.redd.it/5xdoj5ofek4b1.png?width=940&format=png&auto=webp&s=d4261618544108510ceba3698048cc71fa319d60 3. Post your machines in Facebook Heavy Equipment Groups. Pros: Some advertising packages include comprehensive data and analytics. You can track the number of impressions and clicks an ad receives, as well as the number of phone calls it produces. You may even record incoming phone calls so that a supervisor can listen in and provide salespeople input on improving their lead-to-conversion rates. Cons: Listing equipment on Machinery Trader might be costly. Their pricing plan is still based on their print magazine, which explains why their advertising expenses are more significant than expected. Machinery Trader does not currently allow equipment dealers to list their equipment online—you must also pay for a position in their print magazine if you want to market your equipment on their website(s). Ad packages that include unlimited inventory listings start at $295 per week and start at $50 per week per machine. Over two dozen Facebook groups buy and sell agricultural and construction equipment. Some are broad “heavy equipment for sale” groups, while others focus on a specific machine category—forklifts, for example—or a specific geographic area—the Southwest United States. Pros: Using Facebook groups to advertise equipment is free, and the platform allows you to send a single item to dozens of groups at once. The procedure of listing a piece of equipment takes only a few minutes. Thanks to a recent modification in the newsfeed algorithm, Facebook groups may also prove to be a terrific way to get equipment spotted by potential clients. The admin altered Facebook’s algorithm at the time of writing to “prioritize the Pages and groups we anticipate an individual may care about the most,” resulting in postings from groups being at the top of many people’s feeds. Cons: Many Facebook heavy equipment groups have thousands of members, and new listings post multiple times a day on each group’s page. It can be challenging to break through the clutter and notice your listings. Pro-Tip: Use high-resolution photographs and provide a link to your website in the article description. Even if no one from Facebook buys your machine, including a link on your page can assist drive visitors to your site and raising brand awareness. 4. Build an email list of people who are interested in what you have to say. Email marketing may be a powerful tool for selling heavy machinery when done correctly. Encourage individuals to join your email list by adding an email capture plugin to your website. For example, you could run a Facebook ad that targets your Facebook fans and people who have previously visited your website. 5. Make contact with local vendors. Why not contact an equipment sales rep directly instead of posting a Facebook ad, commercial, or billboard and hoping someone finds it? For example, if you have many Caterpillar machines for sale, search for CAT dealers in your area and contact them by email or phone. First, of course, you’ll need to obtain the person’s name and direct email address. However, many equipment websites have their sales agents’ contact information displayed on their directory page. Pros: Making a phone call or sending an email is quick and straightforward. Even if the sales agent doesn’t have money to buy your equipment right now, you’ll have gotten on his radar, and he could remember you the next time he needs something. Cons: Because salespeople phone heavy equipment firms all day, they may be cautious about accepting a cold call without an appointment. submitted by webuyequipment to equipmentbuyandsell [link] [comments] |

2023.06.07 11:27 manapause People that tee from a championship box when there are no markers there.
You ever see a full group of 4 broskis bypass actual tee locations to tee up on a far-back tee box area with no markers - only to all hit terrible shots? Y'all are messing up a box you don't belong swinging at.
You're a scratch dresser Doug, you could have a nice swing - but all you want is to is ... hard. I can't really describe it; when I was younger I had rage - but I didn't just make up my own harder golf course to punish myself.
Gentlemen, if I may:
I'd settle for a new golf subreddit that has nothing to do with the PGA tour for a few weeks, at least until all the non-golfers disperse.
Sweet hole in ones, stories about epic courses, cringe foursome stories ... this subreddit is my happy place.
You don't play the course as it lies, and you just want to be see swinging hard as tuck from where the pros stand. It's cringe AF. Speaking for myself, I believe real golfers are here to leave it all out there. The hotter the take, the worse the swing. Please don't do it. The box is fallow for a reason; your PowerDrive took a massive divot before sailing right into the parking lot.
And 100% of the time. Nobody that does this hits a good shot. Ever. Starting 30 yards behind where the game is actually played. Jesus. And it's like all of you have hot takes to share in a place you come to 3-4 times a year.
It's a shakeup of the PGA, it's a big deal. But damnit I come here for sweet memes about buying yourselves new clubs for Valentine's Day. let's relax; after all, that's why we're here.

2023.06.07 11:26 aceraspire8920 Could British Empire evolve into an EU type of union with London as the capital of the British Union? Would it survive for longer?
Let's say UK realised in the 1950s that the days of the British Empire are numbered. Instead of fighting insurrections all over the world and losing each colony one by one, the UK government tries to reform the empire into a political union, with a parliament like the European Parliament, were it would have at least half of the MPs. The rest of the colonies would have a representation in the British Union Parliament proportional to their population.

2023.06.07 11:26 fedupanddead My cat is extremely destructive, please help me!
My cat (4y/o tortise shell caluco) has an OBSESSION with picking when she thinks it's time to eat, around 3:30 every morning. She picks at the box spring under my bed and has torn a hole in it. She picks under the couch and has torn a hole. She picks at the carpet and has messed it up to the point of having to get new carpet (this was at my old house. I've recently moved and she CANNOT continue this behavior because I am renting now). She does it in a way that is extremely destructive and loud.
I have tried everything, I've fed her later in the day, I give her more treats during the day so she isn't as hungry, I've tried getting her to play more so she is more tired during the night (this doesn't work as well because if she doesn't want to play she won't play). She is currently IN the box spring as I'm writing this. I've straight up ignored her, but she keeps picking and picking and gets more aggressive if I ignore her. I've tried putting her in the bathroom but then she cries (I'm afraid she will wake my roommate up) or she severely picks at the underside of the door. I've tried holding her myself to get her to stop but she fights back to the point where I am bleeding and she is hissing and growling at me, and when I let her go she goes straight back to picking.
I have no idea what to do. I am losing sleep every night. It's obsessive. She knows it's wrong and drives me insane and that's exactly what she wants. I have not fed her when she does this, I still only feed her at the EARLIEST when the sun comes up. I know she probably does this because I give her a reaction but if I ignore her she will destroy my furniture and I will never be able to sleep. I have no intentions if getting rid of this cat, but I have no other ideas for what to do. Please someone help me!!!!!!!

2023.06.07 11:26 Proastandtoast Van Life Chronicles: Exploring Iceland for Three Weeks
This sub has been an incredible source of information and inspiration, so I gave myself an hour to write down and share some insights from the recent three-week road trip I’ve had with my partner.
General remarks: - Our main goal was to enjoy nature, so we were okay with spending absolutely no time on the golden circle or in Reykjavik. Due to the weather, we ended up doing both anyway; but these would be the parts of the trip I would skip first. Coming from continental Europe, we had almost no jetlag and could safely start directly with our journey. With more jet lag, some more time to adapt is definitely a good idea.
- We rented a 2WD campervan from Star Car Rental and spent all but the final night on campsites. Our experience with Star Car was very good. The price was competitive and included unlimited mileage, additional driver and all necessary utensils (chairs, table, cooking stuff). We got picked up from the airport and were ready to go within 15’. When giving back the car, we got driven to our hotel without any inspection (we did have zero excess insurance).
- Mid-May to beginning of June was a very nice time to travel. The days are long (I’ve seen no darkness), almost all camping places are open, but the crowds at the highlights are small – except for the big boys in the south.
- We started our days quite early and therefore typically arrived during the afternoon at the campsites. The kitchen area, showers and laundry spaces were often free to use. Be prepared to go to campsites that have only 2 stoves and 1 shower. During prime time, expect some waiting times.
- We picked up around 100 € worth of cash – two campsites were cash-only, everything else was absolutely card-first / cash-free.
Useful ressources: - Vedur and Safetravel: This sub is absolutely right. Learn how to read and anticipate the weather before you get there. We were there during two yellow warnings and these things are really no joke. It helps to have plenty of time to spontaneously adapt the schedule. And we’ve seen it all: blizzard in the West, hail up North, storm in the East and sun in the South.
- Google reviews & park4night: These were pretty accurate for the campsites. 4+ stars are no-brainers, 3+ depend on your needs (kitchen, shower, electricity) and less than 3 should be avoided. Also, remember to rate them yourself during/after your trip to increase the statistical significance ;)
- Google Maps/MyMaps: MyMaps was useful during our planning to fill with random highlights (waterfalls, hotpots, hikes, campsites) and to set up a rough itinerary. Google Maps is accurate on paved roads. On gravel roads, expect some significant delays. Maps calculates with 80 km/h, while you will probably never exceed 50 km/h. In the Westfjords, we guess-timated our times with 2 minutes per kilometer on the gravel roads. The
Happy Campers Campsite Map as well as the
Hot Pot Iceland Map were nice to have in the back-pocket to check with some time to spare whether something is close by.
- Polarsteps: This was a cute little App, which we used to keep family and friends informed. You can add pictures and some text to your highlights. This way, you don’t send the same picture into various chats and there is a location- and time-dependent context.
Cost: This is the per-person cost breakdown for our 21-day trip (20-day camper rental, 1 hotel stay, total 3’500€).
- Rental (zero excess insurance, additional driver): 1’135 €
- Flight (from continental Europe): 700 €
- Activities (Pools, Spas, Horse-riding, Kayak): 300 €
- Camping (pretty consistent 2’000 +- 500 ISK p.P.): 275 €
- Groceries (Bonus, Kronan, Netto): 255 €
- Coffee, Beers, Food in Restaurants: 260 €
- Petrol (420 € in total for roughly 3’600 km): 210 €
- Souvenirs: 180 €
- Ferries (into Westfjords and to Westman Islands): 95 €
- Hotel: 75 €
Highlights: - Sundlaug and Spas: When camping in small towns, very often there will be a swimming pool close by. They are not expensive (around 1000 ISK pP) and a great way to relax after a long day. Also, it feels nice to take longer, hot showers without knowing people are waiting in line. We decided to go for some smaller premium spas and were very happy with all of them: Krauma was one of our first stops, the Forest Lagoon was incredible during evening hours and GeoSea was also fantastic. Re: nudity. It takes a bit to get used to, but its very refreshing to see this very open approach to nudity in the pools. No one cares, no one watches – just do your thing. It’s cool to see groups of friends at all age groups be so open about it. Certainly very different compared to continental Europe.
- As we had to skip the Eastfjords a bit due to storm, we had some time left at the end. We spent the last 3 nights on the
Westman Islands. It was great to leave the car for a longer while and do everything by foot. There are plenty of things to do and the swimming pool is fantastic.
- Mulagljufur: Use Google Maps to find the exact location, as of now, there is no sign along the road. The canyon is very beautiful and we ended up hiking for almost three hours. Couldn’t get enough of the views.
- Glymur: The infamous log wasn’t placed when we were there, but the short hike to the cave and towards the canyon was absolutely worth it.
- Camping highlights: Melanes campsite at Raudasandur beach (Westfjords): incredible scenery, wild drive to get there; Thingeyri campsite (Westfjords): directly at the fjord, fantastic infrastructure (probably the best kitchen we’ve had) and IMHO a great alternative to the Tungudalur campsite in Isafjordur; 66.12 N campsite (near Husavik): insane ocean view, good infrastructure, one of the best sites along the diamond circle; Glamping&Camping (Westmann Islands): beautiful setting, good infrastructure.

Day 16: Weather forecast was very bad, so we spent the day in Reykjavik. Walked around town, grabbed some coffees and visiting the local Sundhöll*. Camp at Mosskogar** (cash-only)

Of course, I’m very happy to answer any questions you might have!
Hope this is helpful to some of you :)

2023.06.07 11:25 Definition_Novel Some facts about Lithuanians who fought for the USSR.
| Lithuania had the most Soviet partisans out of all 3 Baltic states, with an estimated 7- 10,000 operating in Lithuania during the Nazi occupation. (From Wikipedia.) About 5,000 people, many being Lithuanian citizens, gave their lives defending Lithuania during the early moments of the German invasion (from Wikipedia.) Most of the following info is from an interview with Lithuanian Soviet veteran Julius Deksnys from the Russian language newspaper Obzhor, translated. -The 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division is often considered the most diverse division of the USSR. In it, ethnic Lithuanians, Lithuanian Jews, Russians, Poles, and other ethnicities in Lithuania were represented. There was also the 29th Lithuanian Rifle Corps, which unlike the 16th Division, the 29th was filled with deserters who fled to the enemy. However, most of the soldiers of the 29th Corps who chose to stay with the USSR who didn’t desert were eventually sent to the much larger 16th Division. Among those who stayed with Soviet forces was heroic Lithuanian Soviet lieutenant general Vincas Vitkauskas, the only Lithuanian to receive such rank. The 16th Rifle Division did not generally have a desertion problem, and most of its members were committed to defeating both the German and Baltic fascist enemies. (From Wikipedia.) -in Vilnius in 1944 sometime before liberation, 1,417 soldiers were recruited to the Red Army. Of the Lithuanian citizens recruited to the Red Army from the city that year, 898 were from the Polish minority of Lithuania, some of whom served in the Polish Armed Forces of the USSR. 5,000 Lithuanians participated in the East Prussian offensive. 8,000 Lithuanians participated in the Soviet liberation of Berlin. The 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division is well known for its defending of the Russian city of Oryol, where a memorial exists, as well as its amazing feats in the Battle of Kursk, the Klaipeda and Siauliai offensives, and the battles against Latvian SS in the Courland Pocket in neighboring Latvia. Of the 16th Lithuanian Division, 9, 255 soldiers of all ethnicities died in battle. When measured strictly for ethnic Lithuanian casualties, the number is 5,040. In all units of the Red Army total, 40,000 Lithuanians went missing, never to return home. 80,000 were confirmed dead. 253 memorial monuments were built to the veterans of Lithuania throughout Lithuania, many of which unfortunately are decreasing in number due to the right wing government as well as ultranationalist sentiments of much of the ethnic Lithuanian population, whom have replaced many Soviet veterans monuments with ones to fascist collaborators. Regardless of troubling circumstances in present day Lithuania, some Soviet veterans, among them ethnic Lithuanian veteran Julius Deksnys, who leads a support group for Soviet veterans. Not mentioned in the following article, Deksnys has been fighting fascism since the very beginning of the war in the Baltic states. He willingly enlisted in the Red Army to avenge the death of his father after his father was killed by Lithuanian nationalists for being a communist. Towards the end of the war, when Deksnys was captured on the battlefield, nationalist Nazi collaborators took Deksnys prisoner and he was sent to a Nazi labor camp, where he survived to Soviet liberation. He had much to say about the mistreatment of Soviet veterans in modern Lithuania in an interview a few years ago, which I will post much of his lengthy statement below, where I have fixed certain translations typing errors: “After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the restoration of the statehood of the Republic of Lithuania, veterans of the Great Patriotic War had to solve the problems that arose with the change in the socio-economic, political and ideological system of the country. The most offensive for veterans was the statements of politicians, then enshrined in law, that Lithuania did not participate in World War II, and on May 9, 1945, the day of the Great Victory over fascism, seemed to be the day of the second occupation of our country. Attempts by some Lithuanian politicians and historians to rewrite the history of World War II, distort it, to show the period of fascist occupation of 1941-1944 as a noble mission of Nazi Germany to liberate Lithuania from Bolshevism, to justify the crimes of accomplices of the occupiers against humanity are a monstrous lie. In fact, during the Second World War, the issue of the life and death of the entire Lithuanian people was resolved in the most brutal way. After all, according to the plans of the Nazi leaders, Lithuania should have disappeared in the future like a drop of water on a hot stone. We are urged not to forget the lessons of the war to remember the huge human losses during the years of fascist occupation, including the victims of the Holocaust, the soldiers of the Red Army and Soviet partisans who died for the liberation of Lithuania. The Soviet-era veteran organization and its Republican Committee of Veterans ceased to exist in 1990. Many participants of the Great Patriotic War, citizens of a once great and powerful country, faced the need to decide on citizenship in the newly created independent states of the former Soviet Union. This is how citizens of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and other countries appeared in Lithuania. But they were all united by one thing - the fighting past, the fighting brotherhood and the memory of the Victory over fascism. the combat history of the Lithuanian national unit, the combat service of the intelligence officer of the 18th separate reconnaissance company Paulius Širvys, later an outstanding poet of Lithuania, who was often compared to Sergei Yesenin, is especially noted. But few people know what a brave intelligence officer he was. P. Širvys distinguished himself in many battles and was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree and two medals "For Courage". His romantic poems and poems dedicated to the soldier are read and recited by both young and old. Composers compose music based on his words, organize concerts. When communicating with young people, you are convinced that many young people did not know that their favorite poet during the war was a combat scout, my combat friend. My platoon commander of the same reconnaissance company, Hero of the Soviet Union Boleslovas Gegzhnas and many other soldiers and officers of the division, deserve good memory. People died in those hard battles. During the entire existence of the division, 9,255 fighters have died, including 5,040 Lithuanian soldiers. But how do young generations know about it? In the programs for studying the history of secondary schools, only the fact that such a division was during the war is mentioned, but nothing is said about its heroic combat path, combat exploits. Almost 40,000 Lithuanian residents mobilized to the Red Army did not return from the war. The memory of them is sacred. It will not be possible to emasculate from public consciousness, forget the heroic and decisive role of the Red Army in defeating fascism, denigrate the feat of Soviet soldiers, forget about the victims of the Holocaust, about 80,000 soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of our Motherland. From 1946 to 1948, military memorials were created in cities and districts, in settlements where major battles took place, where the remains of Soviet soldiers were transferred from solitary graves and mass graves. In total, there are currently 253 military memorials and graves in Lithuania, many have monuments, there are memorial plates with the names of the fallen soldiers. Since 2000, with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Lithuania, repair and restoration work has been carried out on military graves. But recently, extremely negative trends in the fight against monuments of the Soviet past have been increasingly manifested in Lithuania. Monuments of special artistic and historical value created by Lithuanian classic sculptors are being demolished. I mean sculptural compositions on the Green Bridge in Vilnius, as well as monuments to Marita Melnikaite in Zarasai and twice Hero pilot Yakov Smushkevich in Rokiskis. The most important attributes of the life of veterans, the object of their well-deserved pride are combat awards for feats on the battlefields. Orders and medals have Soviet symbols: red star, sickle and hammer, the image of Supreme Commander-in-Chief I. Stalin. For this reason, wearing them in everyday life is prohibited at the legislative level. This is not only a moral insult to veterans, but also a direct violation of human rights. Such laws have contributed to the activation of ultranationalist sentiments and neo-Nazi manifestations. Cases of vandalism actually encouraged by the authorities at the graves of Soviet soldiers, the demolition of Soviet symbols from monuments have become more frequent, even though they are included in the register of cultural heritage. What will remain of this kind of intervention? Naked memorial steles and plates... The most interesting thing is that the main argument for such actions is the statement that Soviet symbols offend the feelings of a large social group of people affected by Soviet power. But it is permissible to ask: are veterans who did not spare their lives, health in the fight against the Nazis deprived of feelings and the right to memory of their dead comrades? At the origins of our veteran organization were front-line soldiers Juozas Adamonis, Algimantas Stankevičius, Petras Eidukas. With Algimantas Stankevicius, I happened to serve in the first platoon of the first company of the first battalion of the 156th Rifle Regiment of the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division. On January 27, 1945, we walked together in a chain of attacking warriors, freeing Klaipeda from the Nazi invaders. Stapas Shimonis, becoming chairman of the organization in 1993, did a lot to unite its members, her admission to the World Federation of War Veterans. At the General Assembly of the Federation in Seoul, he was elected a member of the executive committee. After him, since 1999, the organization was headed by Petras Eidukas, who was awarded the title of Honorary Chairman in 2015. Unfortunately, he passed away this year. Despite his 92 years, Nikolai Mikhailovich Riskov, chairman of the veteran organization of the Shalchinink district, works actively. On his initiative, a museum of participants of the Great Patriotic War was opened in the district center of Šalcininkai. This is the first museum of its kind in Lithuania, which was opened on July 16, 2014, to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Šalcininkai and Vilnius. The museum contains a collection of photos of front-line soldiers and Soviet partisans who participated in the liberation of the district or lived after the war, as well as various copies of documents of the war years, military memoirs, books about the war. Relatives bring combat awards, various documents of deceased veterans to the museum. Schoolchildren come to the museum, solemn events dedicated to Victory Day, the Day of Liberation of the district are held here. During the celebrations dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory Day, N. Riskov decided to post photos of deceased veterans, residents of the Shalchinink district, at the city grave of Soviet soldiers, next to the graves of the deceased liberators of the district. This action attracted residents and was continued. People began to bring photos of deceased relatives. This is how the idea of the "Immortal Regiment" was born in Lithuania. Today it is bitter to admit that Lithuania has enough of those who are trying to forget the lessons of the Nuremberg Tribunal, which condemned not only fascism in all its manifestations, but also Nazi accomplices. The names of the latter are now called streets and squares, they are honored as national heroes. And war veterans, the winners of fascism, have become outcasts of society, the authorities do not pay any attention to them, even in the days of the celebration of the end of the war in Europe, there is not a single kind word for them, let alone gratitude. Nationalist youth call our awards trifs, we are forbidden to wear our combat awards only on the grounds that the orders and medals depict Soviet symbols.” -Julius Deksnys, from an interview with Obzhor newspaper issue # 1041, Dec. 24,2016. Much thanks to the Russian-Lithuanian language publication Obzhor.lt, whom conducted the interview with Julius Deksnys that I had to translate with a webpage translator as I cannot read Russian. Most importantly, thank you to Julius Deksnys for protecting the Soviet veteran memory, as he is one of my personal heroes whom inspired me to archive photos of Baltic Soviet veterans. submitted by Definition_Novel to sendinthetanks [link] [comments] |
