2023.03.30 18:49 StepwiseUndrape574 Huge GTA 6 Leak Claims Rockstar’s New RAGE9 Graphics Engine Is Incredible
Besides offering up chaotic open-world action, one thing that Rockstar's games have done ever since Grand Theft Auto III is push the envelope in terms of technology. This is somewhat debatable up to Grand Theft Auto IV, which stunned audiences with its mix of macro-scale simulation and micro-scale detail. GTA V and the newer Red Dead Redemption 2 have continued this tradition, and both are still capable of putting the hurt on modern PCs. That's largely thanks to their forward-looking design that integrates features that contemporary systems weren't really ready for when the released.
gtaonlinerain GTA V can still look startlingly realistic at times.
The thing is, even though it just got a re-release on the current-generation consoles, GTA V originally released in 2013. The game's still fun, of course, especially the online mode that has seen continual updates over the years. The technology behind the title is getting a little dated, though, and fans of the series are understandably chomping at the bit for a new release. Rockstar has confirmed that GTA VI (or at least, the next GTA game) is in the works, but as usual, the company hasn't released any information about the title, nor mentioned a release window.
The leaks and rumors that we've heard so far place a hypothetical "GTA VI" at the end of next year, or even in 2025. That's a lot of development time, even if the company only moved into active development in the middle of last year, as is supposedly the case. In a time when almost every other development house (from Square-Enix to CD Projekt Red) is moving to the Unreal Engine, it seems like Rockstar will thankfully stick with its own in-house tech, known as RAGE.
chrisklippeltweet
That bit of information comes from a tweet by Chris Klippel, who is among other things the creator of Rockstar Mag, a French-language gaming news site that focuses on topics surrounding Rockstar Games and its releases. You can see the tweet above. Chris says that he has been in touch with people who have seen the latest version of RAGE in action, and that its graphics engine is "assez incroyable." Chris describes the latest version as RAGE9, which is interesting; Rockstar doesn't talk about RAGE as a separate product from its games, likely because it doesn't license the tech.
gtaonlinearcade The arcade area added to GTA Online would look amazing with ray-traced lighting.
It's not hard to imagine what sort of features the game engine might include to warrant that description. Heavy usage of ray-traced graphics will go a long way toward impressive presentation, but based on what we've heard in the past about GTA VI, it seems likely that the latest RAGE might be more impressive in its ability to scale content from infinitesimal details all the way up to gigantic cityscapes. We've seen demonstrations of similar technology in Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, and given the nature of "GTA", such capability would be perfectly suited to the games.
gta5crowd
Another impressive characteristic in GTA VI might just be the NPC AI. Historically, Grand Theft Auto's NPCs have been extremely simple stand-ins mostly intended to give the scene a realistic look without having much in the way of personality or believable behavior. That could all change in the next GTA game, based on a patent filed in October 2020.
From what we've heard, the next Grand Theft Auto title will be set in Vice City once again, so look forward to exploring the city's tropical environs. No word on the chronological setting, though; it could be set as far back as the Cuban Missile Crisis, or it could be set in the modern day. We also don't know necessarily what platforms the title will appear for, but based on Rockstar's history, we'd expect it to be available for the PS5 and Xbox before it appears on PC later.

2023.03.30 18:49 MedicalAbbreviations Roomba i7+ redocking every ~56 seconds
Hi all,
I have an infuriating problem with my Roomba i7+ whereby every 56 seconds it decides to leave its dock then redock. I know the timing is this consistent as I have logs from Home Assistant.
So far I have tried replacing the battery (this was necessary as I didn't have time to look at this for a couple of months during which time the original battery died); cleaning the contacts on the robot and home base (including machine polishing) and having iRobot push a firmware update (22.37.1). None of this has helped.
When iRobot pushed the update it wouldn't work because of the redocking behaviour. I therefore tried using speaker wire to connect the home base charging contacts to the contacts on the robot. Instead of connecting the wire to the bottom of the robot's charging plates I tucked it inside the front folded part of the plates. The robot consistently took a charge without redocking when I did this, so I suspect that the charging contacts on the robot are ultimately to blame despite all of the polishing I have done.
What's irritating me is that I'm fairly sure this started happening when 22.29.3 was pushed to my robot. I'm wondering if iRobot reduced the robot's tolerance to charging fluctuations.
All of this is a long winded way of asking if anybody else has experienced a similar problem and, if so, how you resolved it?

2023.03.30 18:48 Then_Marionberry_259 MAR 28, 2023 AAG.V AFTERMATH PROVIDES BERENGUELA PROJECT UPDATE
| https://preview.redd.it/6edf5b1howqa1.png?width=3500&format=png&auto=webp&s=876025a3e8c779ec880ec8efd79c604cf0657e8f Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - March 28, 2023) - Aftermath Silver Ltd. (TSXV: AAG) (OTCQX: AAGFF) (the "Company" or "Aftermath Silver") is pleased to provide an update on the Berenguela silver-copper-manganese project in southern Peru. On March 2nd, 2023 the Company published an updated and expanded mineral resource for the property (see AAG News release dated March 1, 2023). Drilling in 2021-2 was in part designed to obtain bulk (PQ diameter) core samples from various geological and metallurgical domains at Berenguela. A comprehensive bench-test beneficiation program on selected composite core samples is being designed by Kappes Cassidy of Reno, Nevada, USA, focusing on optimising processing and recoveries of silver, manganese, copper, and zinc, and on potential manganese products including agricultural and battery grade manganese sulphate (MnSO4).The Company currently anticipates completion of the program in Q3/Q4 of 2023. The results will provide key technical inputs for Aftermath's planned Preliminary Economic Analysis which is expected to begin in late 2023. Composite core samples, representing the key mineralized domains, are now being assembled at the Company's core storage facility in Arequipa. They will be shipped to KCA's facility in Reno to facilitate pre-treatment beneficiation testing which will include ore-sorting. As a first step, initial visual evaluations are being carried out on core samples from current and historic drilling focusing on the distribution of various minerals and their relationship with assay grades. Fieldwork is expected to recommence in June with exploration and mapping east of the known mineralisation on potential extensions indicated by outcrops, historic drilling and existing underground workings. The work will also investigate a potential intrusive centre to the east of the main Berenguela mineralization. Bereguela Mineral Resource The Mineral Resource at Berenguela, reported in accordance with National Instrument 43‐101 ("NI 43‐101") and completed by AMC Mining Consultants (Canada) Ltd. ("AMC") contains 101.2 Moz Ag + 589 Mlbs CU+ 2.45Mt Mn in Measured and Indicated Resources and 38.8 Moz Ag + 204 Mlbs Cu + 0.8Mt Mn in Inferred Resources detailed in the table below and in Aftermaths news release dated March 2nd, 2023 (linked here https://tinyurl.com/mrxhckk3). Geology Mineralization at Berenguela is hosted principally in thickly bedded, folded limestones and dolomitized limestones of mid-Cretaceous age. Several large bodies of black massive, patchy, and fracture-controlled manganese oxide replacement mineralization occur, with associated silver, copper, and zinc enrichment. Mineralisation is stratigraphically localised above a regional detachment zone particularly where footwall horsts coincide with more intense folding of the carbonate hosts. The bulk of the mineralisation is typically preserved as eroded synform remnants, usually exposed at surface and trending 105-120 degrees. Mapping and resource modelling shows the mineralisation to extend for roughly 1,300 m along strike (including a 100 m discontinuity) with a width of 200 to 400 m. Drilling has shown the mineralisation to extend to up to 80 m below surface where preserved. Berenguela is interpreted as a carbonate replacement deposit (CRD) of an unusual hypogene Mn-oxide style localised above a regional detachment zone in a low temperature, oxidising setting. 2023.03.30 18:47 SulferAddict 88k miles on 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Manual Transmission, 4,000$ repair
Hi guys, appreciate any brainpower.
I have a volkswagen Jetta 2010. it only has 88k miles and i take it in for maintenance routinely. This last time it appears the rear main oil seal is leaking, which is causing other issues. Below is the email I received.
--If i were to go through with this fix, do you think it is financially worth it? The repair is going to be around 4,600$. Thank you for your time.
- Year: 2010
- Make/Model: Volkswagen Jetta, (Wolfsburg) not sure it matters
- Mileage: 88,000
- Engine size: 2.0L I-4
- Transmission Type (Automatic or Manual): Manual
---Eamil Recieved
I have gotten the Jetta all checked out and have a report. It turns out that the reason that the check engine light is on is that there is a lean condition being detected. After performing the appropriate tests we have found that the rear main oil seal is leaking badly enough that it is sucking in unmetered air which is throwing the air fuel ratio off. This is also the source of an engine oil leak. We noted it last visit but it was not nearly as significant as it is now. I cannot put my eyes on the seal as the transmission and the clutch components are in the way of any sight line, but we have found this issue by filling the intake system in the engine with smoke and we can see it coming out of the bell housing of the transmission. The only path to get from the engine to the transmission is through that seal. I have also referred to one of our data bases and this is a common failure point on this engine/transmission setup. I propose that we replace that seal and because of the area that it is the clutch components would need to be replaced as they likely have oil on them which usually destroys them. The flywheel is also an area that I am uncertain about at this point, it would need a new surface for the new clutch disc to grip to. This can be achieved 2 ways, either by replacing the flywheel or machining the flywheel. To machine it is much less costly and would be preferable, but if the oil has gotten on the flywheel and created hot spots then the flywheel should be replaced as it will not stay true once the metal warps and changes. So, the estimate that I have prepared is taking into account a flywheel replacement but if we can save the flywheel it would save somewhere in the neighborhood of $700. In order to repair the vehicle in this fashion (rear main seal, clutch kit, and flywheel replacement) it would cost about $3700 plus tax. The drive belt is also cracking and should be replaced and the tires could use a routine rotation and balance as well.
If we were to get everything done, including testing, service, and the repairs I have listed, it would cost about $4650 including taxes and all. Like I mentioned, there is the possibility of saving $700 if the flywheel can be reused. I assume you will have questions. Please feel free to email back if that is easiest, or give me a call if you would prefer. Also, if you decide to move forward, it does take a few days to complete this kind of work. If you need transportation while it is being done, I have a loaner car I can arrange for you to use while we complete the work.

2023.03.30 18:46 StepwiseUndrape574 Watch GTA 5 Morph Into A Photorealistic Sim With Machine Learning Sorcery From Intel
Some people are concerned about games like GTA 5 affecting peoples' behavior in real life, but what if those games actually looked like real life? Researchers at Intel Labs may have figured out how to do just that using machine learning to make rendered footage look photorealistic. This technology could just bring gaming into a new era if it is used in the wild.
Since the dawn of video games, people have been trying to make them as realistic as possible to achieve the most immersive experience. PC and console hardware has grown over time as well, which nicely complements this goal. Take, for example, the Tomb Raider games, the original of which looks to us more like a Cubism art piece versus what we have now. It seems that things have somewhat stagnated, though, as Moore’s Law can only take you so far on hardware, and the equivalent law in software can only go so far as well. However, Intel Labs researchers may have found a way to circumvent any traditional notion of what a game looks like by using machine learning techniques.
lara croft gta v looks like real life with machine learning techniques from intel labs Tomb Raider I Released In 1996
The Intel Labs team’s project abstract describes how they can enhance synthetic images through a convolutional network, which is a type of deep neural network. This neural network was trained using the rendered images from the game alongside intermediate rendering buffers (G-Buffers), which “provide information on the geometry, materials, and lighting in the scene.” The G-Buffered are processed and used as input for the image enhancement network “where they are used to modulate image features.” While there is a lot more that goes into it, this work culminates in the footage you see below from GTA 5.
Play
If we did not know it was from GTA 5, it would be hard to tell that it was not real. Of course, some minor issues appear, such as license plates becoming a blurry mess, but that pales compared to the rest of the video. Besides, are you looking at license plates while driving around in GTA? In any case, this sort of technology is wild, and we cannot wait to see where it goes. If you are as excited as we are, let us know what you think about it in the comments below.

2023.03.30 18:46 EnchantedEve2004 Why is Bing ai so much worse than ChatGPT?
I have been using Bing ai for a week now because I use Microsoft edge so it's easily accessible to me in my sidebar while browsing web. The problem I face is that it takes much more time picking up what I am trying to say. It is comparably slower. I ask it very specific things like to make a program on this or that and it starts web searching and doesn't even give what I asked for rather a lot of times it gives a generic answer from an article on how to do it.
I started using ChatGPT again today not ChatGPT+ or anything, but the unpaid version. I was shocked at the difference in their capabilities. I have no knowledge in machine learning or AI whatsoever but why is Bing AI so much worse than ChatGPT? Aren't ChatGPT and Bing AI based on the same language model?

2023.03.30 18:44 zandm7 The Cafelat Robot is one of the BEST things I have ever bought
Some background: I got into coffee shortly after the pandemic started, and for the first year+ I went through a bunch of equipment and brew methods. Off the top of my head, the stuff I tried in that time:
- Horrible Hario hand grinder that I returned (lol)
- 1zpresso JX Pro
- AeroPress
- V60
- Kalita
- Fellow Prismo
- Hario Switch
By the summer of 2021, I had started to really crave a home espresso solution. I did a
lot of research and found that under ~$1000 or so, semi-auto/auto machines came with a lot of compromises. But in the ~$500 and under price range, there are a lot of manual espresso machines that can produce excellent espresso.
After surveying the options available, I ultimately landed on the Cafelat Robot. Compared to the competition, I felt it offered a number of advantages:
- Relatively compact design; even compared to something like the Flair it takes up less space on the counter
- Thermal management; the design of the Robot ensures that there is very little thermal mass contacting the brew
- Aesthetics; this is entirely subjective but I think compared to most other levers it is quite a bit more charming and cute (as opposed to industrial and serious)
- Maintainability; there is literally only one component on the Robot that ever actually needs maintenance or replacement and it's the gasket on the piston
- General ease of use / workflow; out of all the levers out there, the Robot is, IMO, the most well-designed and engineered in terms of user experience. If you look at something like the Flair, there are like 4-5 different pieces that you have to juggle around every time you use it. On the Robot, there are ostensibly 3 components (the brew basket, the "portafilter", and the Robot itself) but in practice it's really more like 2, as usually the brew basket is in the portafilter anyways. It's just super simple to use in every aspect, from setup to brewing to cleanup
In mid-2021 I bought a Robot (and upgraded my grinder to the Niche Zero, as the 1zpresso was really reaching its limits grinding for espresso) and since then I have not bought a single new piece of coffee equipment. I've gone through some periods here and there where I don't really make or drink coffee regularly, but for the most part I have pretty much used it every day.
The Robot has such a streamlined and easy workflow that I straight up don't use other brew methods anymore. I can pull a shot and
be ready for another one within ~5 minutes. A V60 or even AeroPress takes around the same amount of time (or even longer).
And the best part: the Robot really does produce some stunning coffee! I'm at a point now where I'm so dialed in with my process that I regularly brew better espresso than I can get at ~90% of specialty cafes/roasters. My entire espresso setup is around $1000 USD (including the Robot, the Niche, and my kettle), and while that's a lot of cash, it's an order of magnitude less than what most cafes are spending.
Like I said, I've not felt a single urge to purchase new coffee equipment since acquiring my Robot + Niche setup. The results are so incredibly good, especially for how
pleasant it is to use.

2023.03.30 18:44 getnourish3d Sailors and citrus fruits - why vitamin C is so important.
During the 16th - 19th centuries, when trade and warfare were mostly done via sailing ships, it was assumed that half of the sailors would die of scurvy on any given trip. During the 16th - 19th centuries, when trade and warfare were mostly done via sailing ships, it was assumed that half of the sailors would die of scurvy on any given trip. This was not a pleasant way to go - starting with weakness and tiredness, it rapidly descended to gum disease, hair loss, bleeding, and finally, death.
Vitamin C - or the lack of it - was behind this awful disease.
Also known as
ascorbic acid, vitamin C is an essential nutrient for various processes in the human body. As it’s not produced in the body, it must be brought in via the diet. It’s found in citrus fruits (eg. oranges, limes, lemons, grapefruit), kiwi fruit, broccoli, sprouts, strawberries and raw bell peppers.
James Lind, a Scottish surgeon in the Royal Navy, is credited as discovering that eating citrus fruit was the answer to scurvy, back in 1753. Unsurprisingly, bureaucracy and lack of urgency got in the way, and it wasn’t until health reforms in 1795 that the Royal Navy started routinely giving lemon juice to sailors.
(The words ‘lemon’ and ‘lime’ were rather interchangeable at the time, leading to the phrase
lime-juicer being coined to refer to sailors in the British Royal Navy. This later became
limey, and was taken to refer to any British person, often by those in the US.)
Thankfully, we hardly ever see scurvy any more, although it can be spotted in developing countries where malnutrition is prevalent. It takes at least a month of little or no vitamin C for symptoms to occur.
Enough about the bad side - vitamin C is a versatile, highly important nutrient, with a number of benefits when it’s introduced to the body in a healthy way. Let’s dive in and see what it can do.
What is vitamin C actually good for?
Vitamin C is a
cofactor in many
enzymatic reactions - which means it’s a key player in many chemical reactions around the body.
This includes the synthesis of collagen - the structural protein that makes up connective tissues in the body. It’s found in tendons, fat, ligaments, and cells around the body. It’s the substance that gives structural integrity to these areas, and is important in giving skin its texture and shape. Healthy collagen levels in the skin can give it a stronger, more youthful look.
Vitamin C’s part in this is causing the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which helps
boost collagen production in the body. An increased level of collagen in the body can also be linked with
higher levels of keratin, the building block of healthy hair and nails. (Other potential benefits for healthy hair are through the fighting of
adrenal gland fatigue - a common cause of hair loss).
Similar mechanisms are used for wound healing and the creation of scar tissue to protect the site of the injury. That’s why slow wound healing can potentially be a sign of a vitamin C deficiency.
Speaking of skin, did you know vitamin C can play a vital role in sun protection? While sunscreen is of course the number 1 method for protecting the skin from the harmful effects of direct sunlight exposure, pairing it with healthy levels of vitamin C can supercharge its utility. The antioxidant properties of vitamin C can help block free radicals produced by exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet light. This effect can be
enhanced with vitamin E, which strengthens its protective properties.
Vitamin C’s antioxidant properties, helping to reduce the amount of free radicals in the body, have another important effect: fighting cancer. While it isn’t an effective treatment for cancer, antioxidant-rich foods and supplements are linked to
lowering the risk of getting certain types of cancer.
Finally, vitamin C also
helps the body to absorb iron from food and supplements.
You can read more on our blog post
here.
Can Vitamin C cure the common cold?
And then, of course, there’s the cold. We often take our health for granted, cursing our lack of orange consumption when the cold weather hits and brings coughs, sneezes and sniffles. But the link between this vitamin and a miracle cure for the cold isn’t concrete. Popular theories about ‘mega-dosing’ vitamin C just aren’t backed up by science.
As we’ve always known, there’s currently no cure for the common cold. But vitamin C is highly concentrated in immune cells, and gets quickly depleted as your body reacts to an infection when the cold hits. So - supplementing your vitamin C intake probably won’t reduce the risk of you catching a cold, even though it plays a part in having a strong immune system. But it may help restock your stores of it during an infection. Therefore it may speed up your recovery, and reduce the severity of symptoms. Definitely worth a try.
What happens if you have too much vitamin C?
So scurvy is the result for a chronic lack of vitamin C - what about the opposite? Well, large doses may result in gastrointestinal discomfort, headaches, insomnia, and flushed skin.
There are other risks involved, but these are only likely when taking far above the recommended dose (2000mg or more). We’d recommend you stick to a sensible diet and supplement regime, and you shouldn’t have any problems.
Vitamin C is one of the Nourishments available in your personalised gummy stack. Our vitamin C is sourced from camu camu, the Amazonian berry of the camu camu tree - a fruit with one of the world’s highest concentrations of vitamin C. Why not add it to your programme today?

2023.03.30 18:42 WhyWhyWhy11 31 [M4F] - PA/USA/Anywhere - Can We Just Be Our Truest, Most Genuine Selves?!??
R4R can be like the wild, wild west. There's a lot of dryness and dreariness. Every once in a while you think you've found a gem, but then....nah, that's just a mirage, like when you think you've found a Coke machine in the high sand.
That is to say, I'm looking for someone to chat with that would never think about ghosting, especially if we were getting along quite nicely. If you're the type that would be brave enough to type out at least a quick "hey, I don't think I'm feeling this", then we should talk.
I'm single, so it would be nice if you were, too. Platonicity (is that a word? I feel like I made it up) is a drag, but I'm not looking for anything serious. Just two people enjoying each other in whatever capacity they both deem appropriate.
Anyway, if any of this resonated with you in the slightest, I'm very much looking forward to getting to know what makes you, well, you.

2023.03.30 18:42 yosoymitxel [NES][Unknown] Game about car crashing to eliminate enemies, but it wasn't a racing game like 'Road Fighter'
Platform(s): NES
Genre: Driving
Estimated year of release: 1983 - 1995
Graphics/art style: 8bit
Notable characters: Formula One-style car
Notable gameplay mechanics: Crashing to eliminate enemies, but it wasn't a racing game like 'Road Fighter'
Other details:
English:
This game consisted of crashing cars in a delimited square; there were obstacles in the middle of it. Power-ups appeared from time to time, one of which caused all the cars on the screen to explode at the same time. If I remember correctly, your objective was to eliminate all enemies or survive for a certain amount of time (the latter being less likely). The game did not make you fire the car; you could only win against enemies by making them crash into the corners of the obstacles.
The game was viewed from above and was similar to Micro Machines. You could choose the color of your vehicle, of which I remember at least red and blue. When the level ended, upgrades could be applied, but I believe the only possible option was to switch to a car with better features.
Upon entering the game, a car similar to a Formula 1 car appeared, if I recall correctly, colored blue. The game had letters in an Asian language, but I don't remember which language it was precisely. I think there was an English version, but I have no idea what it said. I would believe that there was a number 4 in the title, but upon research, I couldn't find anything. It might be a random letter in the language it was in that looked like the number 4.

2023.03.30 18:42 Cpt_Kirk124 Liberating a Machine Empire (Or other Gestalts)
What happens when you win a Liberation War against a Machine Intelligence? Normally their old government is replaced with your new one. However, each gestalt is its own entity and therefore there is no government to replace.
Do they still change their ethics to comply with your demands? Or is a new empire propped up which mirrors your government and simply has a bunch of former-gestalt populations?
I'm aware that once the 'Hive' dies then the drones will wither away. Could it be that the empire is simply destroyed?
Prior research into this topic via Google lead me to a few threads from years ago. They claimed that the Liberated Gestalts become "Despicable Neutrals" which is a Futurama reference. These threads went on to state that this governent is a placeholder and should never show up in game, leaving me at a loss.
So what actually happens?
