What should i train most?

2023.06.06 19:18 Hobbylosertyp99 What should i train most?

Soo… We have a school basketball tournament in around two weeks. Now I wonder what I should be training to be able to guide the team. We will be five guys but the other four are playing other sport like soccer, volleyball and ice hockey. So their conditioning will be very good, but they won‘t know a lot about basketball and we can‘t play any complex strategies. I myself am 6.1‘‘ and will very likely be one of the biggest guys there. Since we already have a center, I’ll probably play power forward or guard. I‘m thinking of a playingstyle like jokic where I would still be playing like a big man, but also make passes like a guard.
So what should I be training most?

2023.06.06 19:17 Manceptional Okay to learn fundamentals at empty gym

I am looking to get started and have researched some gyms in my area. There is one nearby that seems like a good fit (well qualified instructors, close to home, schedule kind of works, etc). I went to a tryout class but it's a new satellite location and their "intro" class was empty. I ended up doing solo drills with a brown belt coach. I've watched a regular class and there were about 8 people there rolling. My question is just for the limited purpose of learning the fundamentals, would i be missing out if there were few or perhaps no other beginners there learning with me? Or is it perhaps amazing that I'd be getting possibly private sessions to learn the basics and I'll have plenty of time to roll with others later? I wouldn't be making a long term commitment so only wondering if this is a win or not for the "fundamentals."

Really appreciate any input.

2023.06.06 19:16 Brahms12 I am new to this group. I would like to share a prologue and welcome! Any helpful critiques. And thank you for reading.

Lightning split the heavens exposing the night sky in a collage of crimson and lavender. The stunning and instantaneous color-scope illuminated the shadowy darkness and revealed a glimpse of the looming storm in the distance.
How beautiful, she thought as she stood, gazing out of the front window in her evening gown. The air was perfect and, for the moment, was calm and still. But when she looked down her hand was shaking. Images and thoughts flashed through her mind: her future, their new house, motherhood… her mind drifted. She thought about how lonely another night alone was going to be; how much she missed him when he was away.
Isotta tried her best to keep herself occupied during the long weekends when he was gone, mostly by gardening through the Spring and Summer, but she also read a lot. She’d already gone through the stack of novels in her husband’s study: The Godfather, Papillon, The Chosen, Fahrenheit 451, to name a few - It was a pleasure to burn, she thought.
They were just diversions though, the reading and the gardening. She used them to sideline the unpleasant feelings that crept in now and again. It was important to keep them away; to never let them take hold of her or her feelings. But she knew it was coming. She knew it was just a matter of time. She could sense it. Maybe I should start knitting baby clothes, she thought. And she sighed deeply and smiled.
Her parents and sister were not in the country and other than a brief visit a while back, she hasn't seen or spoken to them in almost a year. In this new life, this new neighborhood, she had no close friends other than the kind woman she met a few weekends back at the grocery store. A woman who was also pregnant with her first.
Looking across the house, through the living room and over the dining room table, she saw that the TV was still on. The Dick Cavett show. She had forgotten that she left it on. He had a lot of famous American guests on. Some of them she knew but most she didn’t. She liked his show, the few times she watched it, though she never paid too much attention to it. Plus, on this night the volume was turned way down allowing the sounds of the weather, the distant rumble of thunder and the building gusts of wind, to hold her allure for the evening. It kept her company.
The damp air crept in through the screen door on the porch and she felt its humid touch on her skin as the rain began falling, a drizzle at first. She relaxed to the sound of the popping droplets on the asphalt.
Isotta James, who came over from Italy and had been on her own since she was sixteen, was a very intuitive and free-spirited young woman. She loved the adventure she was on and enjoyed her new surroundings; the cool climate of Long Island in the Autumn.
It excited her to be married to an officer and live in a foreign country. She always dreamed of living in America and now it was a reality. And, she was looking forward to his return after the weekend so they could go out on more adventures together: hiking up Bear mountain or visiting fort Ticonderoga upstate, taking a day trip up to Woodstock for a romantic weekend. But she especially loved visiting New York City. That was the place where she felt the freest. Especially with him. It was so new to her and the energy was tangible . She could spend all day with Thomas in the city, holding hands, visiting museums and strolling down the sidewalks. She loved the food too, eating dinner at one place and dessert at another. It was like being back home in Barri but different. She felt so special when they were together.
As the night descended further and the sounds of the storm became spectral, a touch of late night tedium and discomfort snuck into her mood. Isotta, spending much of the evening downstairs trying to keep herself engaged, finally admitted to herself that she was tired and there was nothing more to keep her interest so she christened it a good time to head upstairs for the night.
She seemed to float in her blue sleeveless nightdress as she reached to shut the blinds. Then she turned off the T.V. and the light in the living room and walked through the house towards the stairs, turning the upstairs light on first. One step at a time, she told herself as she carefully walked up, suddenly aware of how tender her feet felt. Going up and down the stairs each day was taking its toll and she avoided it as often as she could. Subtle pings of pain began pulsing through her hips that she continued up the flight. Only one more month to go, she thought while she labored up the remaining steps, her expectant belly competing with her tiny frame. Groucho Marx, she mumbled. Yes, it came to her in a flash. Groucho Marx. That’s who was on the Dick Cavett show, she remembered him now. You Bet Your Life, she thought. And she did.
Once atop the last step and slightly out of breath, Isotta paused to collect herself. She took another few steps but then abruptly stopped. A faint dizziness came over her. She tried to wish it away but instead lost her balance for a brief second and braced herself, one hand reaching out to the wall. She glanced around as if forgetting where she was. Looking down she could see that her hand was shaking again. Harder this time.. She became light-headed and her vision blurred. The room began spinning and a lurching sensation grew from inside her belly. Something, she murmured aloud as she caught breath, something isn’t right.
She was telling herself to lie down, thinking she was going to pass out but instead she forced herself down the length of the hallway toward the bedroom, thinking that getting into bed would bring the most satisfying relief. It’s amazing how just walking up a flight of stairs can be so exhausting when you're 8 months pregnant.
But before she reached the bedroom, the cramps came back with an unforgiving determination and, with a sharp grimace, she clutched her belly and dashed into the bedroom, almost tripping over her own feet as she half stumbled toward the end table. She exerted herself as she reached for the side of the bed and with a flick, turned on the table lamp. She pulled out the drawer and rummaged around until her hand found the Rx bottle she was looking for. She twisted it open and promptly downed two pills and then hiked herself up onto the bed with a grunt. During the pregnancy, Isotta was treated for eclampsia and the magnesium pills were the only safe thing that eased the woozy symptoms which came on frequently and were sometimes severe. There's a heavenly feeling, though, in that first moment when you lie down in bed. First it's the feet and then the knees, the shoulders, the neck and eventually an awareness of your entire body sinking into the mattress.
She pulled the covers up to her neck and turned over on her side, maneuvered an extra pillow between her legs and then reached out to turn off the light. Isotta lied as still as she could enduring the queasy discomfort, knowing that it would take a few minutes to kick in. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and after a few patient minutes the nausea and spinning began to dissipate. Her head felt cool from the perspiration and her nightgown clinged uncomfortably to her back. But it didn't matter. Everything felt calm again even with the rumblings of the storm and the great flashes light. With a gentle sigh, she closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Isotta woke up a few hours later. It was normal for her to wake up in the middle of the night but this time it was different. She had been having that dream again, the one where she was drowning in the bathtub with her baby in her arms. She could still feel the water filling her lungs and the anxiety rising in her chest. She sat up in bed abruptly and looked around the dark and silent room.
The dream had always been a terrifying one, but tonight it had been even worse. She could still see the look of confusion in her baby's eyes as the water rose around them. She could still feel the desperation as she struggled to keep them both afloat.
Isotta believed that if you need to get your mind off of something, the best thing was a change of scenery. So, she got out of bed to use the bathroom and on her way back stopped to peer out the bedroom window. The rain was still coming down and the wind was whistling around the corner of the house. She could barely see anything outside when she gazed into the darkness, but she thought she heard something. Movement in the bushes? Isotta held her breath so she could hear over din of the storm and, after a moment, the sound came again. Shh-Shh-Shh. It was hard to tell if it was the weather or if there really was something making that noise.
It crossed her mind to put her slippers on and go downstairs to see what was causing the noise but she was sure that it was the wind or the cover of the trash can dangling in the bushes. Thomas forgot to tie the lid down again, she thought. How was I going to sleep now? But then it stopped. Isotta waited for a bit, just to be sure. But it never came back. After a pause she decided it must have been nothing and returned to bed. It wasn't the first time she was alone in the house and it certainly wouldn't be the last. She relaxed again into a fetal position, tucked the pillow between her legs and pulled the covers back up.
The more she thought about it, the less sure she was that she heard anything at all. It could have just been street noise coming through the rain, she thought. Who knows?
She lied in bed and thought about wha to do the rest of the weekend. She really wanted to spend time in the garden. It was the perfect month to plant the Aronias and the Dahlias. The soil will be moist and easy to move around, especially after a hard rain. It wasn't going to be easy, being 8 months pregnant, but she was going to do her best.
The laundry definitely needed to get done too. She needed her gardening pants and knee pads and she had asked Thomas a thousand times to move the rocking chair to the other corner in the nursery. I should probably do it myself, she thought.
Just as she was falling back into sleep, she heard it again. Shh-Shh-Shh. But it was louder and bigger now. Something was definitely moving and it was closer, a lot closer. What?, she whispered in disbelief. It sounded like someone dragging a rake across thick grass in short powerful heaves. Her arm started shaking again.
There was a soft grunt like a man's voice and what sound did like a knock on the window. Just as she was about to get up and turn the light on she felt Thomas getting into bed next to her. It was dark and, although she was facing the other way, she could feel his weight easing down into the mattress beside her. That's odd, she thought. What's he doing home?
"Hi honey," she whispered in a half-woken voice.
A few seconds went by but there was no response. Maybe he was too tired to speak or maybe he didn't want to wake me up? Finally she could relax and drift off to sleep again but she caught herself.
"Honey?" she said again, this time with more curiosity.
But there was only Silence. And then she remembered, as clarity replaced drowsiness, Thom was supposed to be gone all weekend. He would have called if he was coming home.
She searched for his mannerisms: the way he shuffled his legs in the sheets, the heat of his body, his smell, the way he reached for her hand under the covers… only there was no heat, and no legs shuffling. Instead, what she noticed was how still he was. She could feel the chill radiating off his skin and there was a smell that was growing more and more bitter by the second.
“Who’s here? Thom? Is that you?” she asked in a nervous whisper.
There was more movement in the bed, rolling and shifting. The darkness was heavy, pressing Isotta down. Thomas shouldn't be home for two days, she thought.

2023.06.06 19:13 Justforfunnnok 30 [M4F] Attractive and Hungs seeks Local FWB

Looking for a cute FWB that would like to talk and hang out regularly.
Ideal day would be, we get up, go grab coffee and breakfast. You blow me on the way or we fuck in the parking lot in my car. Or both! My dick is free use whenever you want it. After we eat we can go check out some book or game stores or even clothes, whatever works. More sex ensues. Maybe hit a food truck up that we see. We could go hiking or for a walk at a park before we grab some dinner. Go back to my place and have some more fun.
About me: 30, with 2 jobs and side hustles. Im 5'11, 160 lbs, fit and athletic, 7.5" hung with stamina. Well groomed and dress well. Hygienic, clean and DDF.
You: Must love Beards. Also be relatively in shape. Sorry not into bigger Women, a lil bit is fine but yeah. Dont have to be a perfect 10, just be cute and be able to hold a good conversation and have a better sense of humor.
Looking for a LOCAL, not Visitors. Thanks!

2023.06.06 19:11 CrushedOats Things I’ve noticed at SFU as a Douglas transfer

Hi! I did 6 semesters at Douglas for an associates of science degree before transferring to SFU to complete a BSC of environment. As I work through my first semester here at SFU I thought I’d share some of the differences I’ve noticed between the two schools! Please feel free to add any advice or questions!
The campus is large but you still only get 10 minutes between classes (which isn’t enough depending on where you need to go.) Surprisingly, it’s a lot less stairs though! There’s an app that you can download to show you where your classes are on a map.
Classes are normally 50 minutes and 3x a week, and not the 1:50 2x like they are at Douglas. Kinda nice but also frustrating because the time goes by so quickly! It also means there’s less time for questions, and there’s no breaks in classes.
Classes are much larger than at Douglas. Say goodbye to your prof knowing your name. You’ll have a lot more contact with TA’s in both lecture and tutorial. If you have questions about the content of the class, you’re better off talking to a TA than the prof. They’ll reply faster.
Shorter classes means that lecture often consists of the prof going over example problems, and having you study the lecture content on your own. I’ve noticed this for classes like Calc, Chem, and Physics.
They use Canvas instead of blackboard. It’s nicer than blackboard but lots of information can get lost between the multiple menus and modules. Teachers also require online materials a lot more than Douglas, and sometimes more than one paid subscription is required for each class. You can still find lots of textbooks online though!
Almost all my classes use iclicker. It’s like kahoot but less fun and used for impromptu quizzes or in class polls. I don’t believe you have to pay to use it. You also don’t need to buy the physical remote for it. It does mean that you’ll need a phone or laptop with reliable internet for your class. Assignments are also submitted through crowdmark.
There’s many options for seating on campus but honestly lots of the places to sit are uncomfortable. Somehow most of the tables are too far away from the chairs or benches so you can’t comfortably sit and write.
Desks in classes are often lecture style seating with the half size folding desks. Chairs on the edge of the aisle should have a left handed table. You can fit either a notebook or a computer on it and not much else. There’s not a lot of outlets in the theatre lecture halls, so charge your computer before class.
The Tim Hortons on campus kinda sucks compared to the one at Douglas. There is a dining hall that for $15-20~ you can get all you can eat. The food itself is good quality, but the flavors are kinda bland and lacking.
The student store on campus is a lot more expensive than at Douglas. But there’s a wider variety of merch & high end supplies.
The dr’s clinic is so nice to have on campus. You can walk in to schedule an appointment and you’ll usually be seen the same week! They also have a psychologist on staff who is really nice. Visits are covered by MSP. You do need to be a student though.
Cell service sucks, so beware.
There’s pianos everywhere on campus. Think you found somewhere good to study? Nope! Someone is gonna play “Still D.R.E” for an hour straight. Once they finally leave someone else will take their place and play Fur Elise! Avoid the pianos. Don’t be a dick and play longer than 5 minutes tops. Please
The Gosfu system is different from MyAccount. You also have to manually check that classes meet your degree requirements when planning your schedule. I miss MyPath 🥲. Advisors are helpful in telling you what semester a class will be offered.
The SFU discord is the best place to find group chats for classes. Almost every single course has a dedicated discord. Super helpful! If you don’t have a discord, get one.
Exams are often worth +50% of your final grade. They also often are done out of the normal class time. Final exams can also occur on the weekends

2023.06.06 19:11 CharlesNewman12 Train to Malmo and creatine supplements.

Hi all,
Hope you are well.
I’ll soon fly to Copenhagen for a cycling trip.
Got 2 questions for you my internet friends:
  1. What’s the best way to get to Malmo? (that’s where we’ll pick up the bikes) should I book tickets in advance?
  2. I work out regularly and I take 5g of creatine powder after each workout. I thought about getting my own stuff with me but then I ll have to explain to the border force what that white powder is and so on. Where can I find a good sports store to grab a few creatine nutrition bars?
Cheers

In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore the importance of aUEC, how to earn it, and how to make the most of this currency to enhance your Star Citizen experience.

Understanding aUEC:
a. Currency in the Verse: aUEC serves as the primary in-game currency in Star Citizen, allowing players to purchase ships, equipment, commodities, and services within the persistent universe. It is a crucial resource for progressing and enjoying the game to its fullest.
b. Differentiating aUEC from UEC: It's important to note that aUEC is distinct from UEC (United Earth Credits), which is the final currency intended for the game's official release. During the alpha and beta phases of the game, aUEC is used as a temporary currency.

Earning aUEC:
a. Mission Accomplishments: Engage in a variety of missions available throughout the Star Citizen universe. Whether it's combat missions, delivery runs, or mining operations, successfully completing missions rewards you with aUEC. Choose missions that align with your interests and skills to maximize your earnings.
b. Trading and Cargo Runs: Utilize your ships to transport goods and commodities across different locations. Buy low and sell high by taking advantage of regional price differences to make profitable trade runs. Invest in cargo and navigate trade routes efficiently to generate a steady income.

c. Mining Operations: Equip your ship with mining equipment and venture into asteroid fields to extract valuable resources. Sell these resources in dedicated trade hubs to earn substantial amounts of aUEC. Mastering the art of mining can be a lucrative endeavor.

Optimizing aUEC Usage:
a. Ship Upgrades: Enhance your ship's capabilities by purchasing better weapons, shields, engines, and other upgrades. Upgrading your ship can improve its combat prowess, durability, and versatility, enabling you to take on more challenging missions and explorations.
b. Equipment and Gear: Invest in high-quality armor, weapons, and equipment to improve your combat effectiveness and survivability. Choose gear that suits your playstyle and the challenges you're likely to encounter in your adventures.

c. Trading and Investments: Expand your wealth by investing in commodities or rare items that are expected to appreciate in value over time. Stay informed about the in-game economy, trends, and changes that may impact the value of certain items. Be patient and strategic in your investment decisions.

Community Interactions:
a. Join Organizations: Participate in player organizations and associations to collaborate with like-minded players. Engage in joint operations, cooperative missions, and trading ventures to pool resources and maximize your aUEC earning potential.
b. Player-to-Player Transactions: Utilize in-game trading platforms and player-driven marketplaces to buy or sell goods, ships, or services directly with other players. Building relationships and networking within the Star Citizen community can provide valuable opportunities for profitable exchanges.

Conclusion:
aUEC is the lifeblood of the Star Citizen universe, opening up opportunities for exploration, combat, trading, and customization. By earning aUEC through missions, trading, and mining, and investing it wisely in ship upgrades, equipment, and trading ventures, you can amass wealth and unlock new horizons within the vast reaches of the verse. Remember to stay informed, adapt to the ever-changing economy, and embrace the collaborative spirit of the Star Citizen aUEC community as you embark on your thrilling journey through the stars.

2023.06.06 19:06 Dragonflame1994 Why Alan Wake is one of my all time favorite protagonists in video games.

Alan Wake is far from an idealistic hero, no, he's what the literary world calls an "everyman" someone who is ordinary, flawed and a perfect representation of mankind. Yes it's true Alan is a famous author and a bit of a celebrity in his world, but he's also a recovering alcoholic, an insomniac, someone who struggles with strong anxiety and insecurities about his writing and having writer's block (What good is a writer who can't write?) and he also has a bad temper and can be a bit of a dick even to those he loves, like how in the beginning of the story he's the one who is the catalyst for the main events in the story when his wife Alice reveals she brought him to Bright Falls to get therapy and that infuriates him making him shout at her and storm off outside of the cabin they are staying at, giving the Dark Presence a chance to take Alice.
However Alan is also the kind of guy who will do anything for those he loves especially his wife Alice and throughout the entire story Alan constantly pushes people away from him to avoid confronting his deep rooted psychological trauma of feeling like a worthless fraud of a writer until it comes down to saving his wife when then he's forced to make a choice to face his own fears and insecurities and write a story that can bring her back from the Dark Place and the Dark Presence's grasp or lose her forever and Alan is not only willing to face his fears, insecurities and trauma, but also sacrifice his own life if it means the one person who he loves more than anything else in the world can have a second chance at life and I just find that incredibly beautiful and heart-wrenching at the same time and these are just some of the many reasons Alan Wake is one of my favorite protagonists in video games.

2023.06.06 19:05 BrunoDoggo Got fired for too long of a bathroom break (I think?)

oh god ok...
My Background:
Restaurant Background:
The story:
I started there last Wednesday, all of the kitchen staff love me (and I love them back <3) and have been helping me get back into the swing of cooking again as I have to readjust to the kitchen bc my last real cooking gig was junior year of high school.
They had me on Expo, Salads and Desserts my first couple days while it wasnt busy, and had me help where I could on a rush. They said I was making good progress and that it was impressive how I'd broken their expectations and it made me feel good inside to know that I was wanted in a kitchen and that summer was going to be ok. (This is 3 days in)
All this shit started on Day 4 at around 2 or so, when the FoH guy saw that I had a few tickets I was working on making salads for, as well as pulling and plating a dessert or two. He tells me to pull out my station and scrub the floor and wipe it down.
I asked if i could finish the tickets i was half done with first
He said "clean the floors and cook, you can multitask"
I said "I can't do both at the same time which one do you want me to do first?"
He shouted "Just do your fucking Job"
I said "I am? Im making salads"
He then yelled at me to clean the floors and walked away in a huff.
Later that day he came back to me and pulled me aside and apologized for being an asshole and all that. And I thought "cool this guy is like actually a decent person to work for" I was wrong.
Day 5. Yesterday.
I come in at 1145, grab my apron and my towel, start working on the two tickets that are up.
An hour or so passes and my stomach is killing me to the point where its hard to focus and I'm slipping up on my plating with desserts.
I talk to FoH man and take a bathroom break. I'm there for 10 min maximum.
I get back and start working on the very few tickets we have because its a monday at 230 at this point.
At about 3 I am instructed by the BoH manager to start portioning out sauces so ther servers can grab them, I get about 3/4 of the way through and nature calls. I try to shrug it off but I can't and I out lids on the sauce containers and wipe off my station as fast as I can.
I spend 20 min in there that time. I met god at the pearly gates.
I make it out alive, walk back to my station and start portioning out the last sauces. FoH man comes up to me and starts chewing me out.
"How the fuck did you pass culinary school"
"You didn't wipe down your station, thats completely unsanitary" (He has told me to cut mold off food and serve it)
"None of your things are stocked" (They were)
"I pay you too much for you to be taking 20 min bathroom breaks"
"I can send you home right now we dont need you here"
"Youre a failure"
Like seriously? I'm not even 20 yet
So I stood there in a stupor for a bit as I wiped down my station and filled the 2 things that were even close to half empty.
And then I thought to myself for a second, "well if he doesn't need me here and im dying of what feels like dysentery, I might as well go home cause im putting up shoddy work"
So i wander up to him in the FoH and pull him aside and ask, "Hey if you don't need me here like you said, can I go home? I kinda don't feel well like you saw"
He shouted back, "Clock out and don't come back"
I said "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
he said "you know what it means, get the fuck out if my restaurant"
So i clocked out and walked back into the kitchen, set down my apron and towel, said to the three other cooks that he just fired me. They were very confused, so i explained what happened and then I left and sat in my car and cried a lil bit.
5 fucking days. thats it.
I don't understand what I did wrong.
Everything was peaches and cream with everone else there except for him. I was enjoying my job and I thought I was doing good but ??? I guess not

2023.06.06 19:03 Bootdaddy247 Specific LGBTQIA+ friendly/safe businesses

Hey all, just looking for a bit of advice. I'm hosting an event this fall that is super-inclusive and I'm wanting to compile a list of locations where all attendees will feel safe. Many folks will be coming from across the US and Missouri, as we all know, is currently up to know good when it comes to the safety of queer folks. I am a queer person in a cishet passing relationship, so my idea of safety and inclusivity is likely skewed. If anyone has any intel on the following businesses, I'd sure appreciate it, especially in reference to trans/nb folks. This is my list so far:

2023.06.06 18:56 Malinda-263 what is the average cost of solar panels for a 2000 sq ft home?

The average cost of solar panels for 2000 sq ft home can vary based on several factors, including the type and quality of the panels, installation costs, and local market conditions. However, I can provide you with a rough estimate.
The cost of solar panels is typically measured in dollars per watt ($/W). As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the average cost of solar panels in the United States ranged from $2.50 to $4.00 per watt, including both the panels and associated equipment.
To calculate the average cost, we need to estimate the system size in kilowatts (kW) based on your energy consumption. On average, a 2000-square-foot home might require a solar system between 5 kW and 8 kW.
Let's assume a mid-range cost of $3.50 per watt:
System Size: Assuming a 6 kW solar system (6000 watts). Cost per Watt: $3.50/watt.
Total Cost = System Size (kW) x Cost per Watt Total Cost = 6 kW x $3.50/watt Total Cost = $21,000
Please note that this is a rough estimate, and prices can vary based on location, system specifications, and other factors. It's always a good idea to obtain quotes from local solar installers who can provide more accurate pricing based on your specific circumstances.

2023.06.06 18:56 BlackWogPki Game-changing smart luggage tag: syncTag

Last year, I bought an Away Carry-On for myself. I love it, but I remember vividly being asked if I wanted the special leather luggage tag; I must say, that is the ONLY thing I hate about this bag. For starters, you have to take it off of the bag to actually view any information. Additionally, when I moved house, I had to get a piece of paper to write my new information down, just like any traditional luggage tag. That was a pain to fit inside, and it doesn’t look good. I was recently looking around for some kind of smarter alternative, and I found one. It’s called syncTag by syncfind, and instead of it being a traditional tag, it uses NFC and QR codes to link to my information. They did have a big emphasis on privacy, indicating that information about me (my name, phone number, etc) is not stored on the card itself, rather it’s stored online in their systems, and the card just contains a link to it. The cards come in some pretty cool (and funny) designs, and they were relatively easy to set up once I received them. They were delivered quickly, too. When I signed up, it collected my email (automatically through Google), and then asked for my phone number. They didn’t ask me to provide any more personal details. I haven’t yet lost my luggage (fingers crossed), but when I tested this out, I was directed to a page where I could see my first name, the make and model of my bag, and the option to report it as lost or stolen. It also asked me for my current location, which, without any thought, I provided (foolish of me, I know). Seconds later, I received a text notifying me that someone had “tapped” my tag, and it gave me a link to view more details, if I wished. The link took me to the syncfind website, and showed me the exact time, down to the second, that my tag was tapped, along with location based on my IP address, and more interestingly, a Google Map showing the location of whoever tapped it (in this case, me , who gave consent to my location). Overall, I am incredibly happy with this, definitely worth the $17.99, with no other fees. I also received a handwritten note with the owner’s email, which felt very personable. I wrote to them, as I had an idea of “How will I know if this bag is mine? What if someone else has the same bag as me, but also one of these tags?” Three days later, they wrote back, thanking me for my message, but also telling me they they liked my idea so much that they had implemented it, inviting me to let me know what I thought. They added an option to scan a tag on its own, but also the option to sign in when tapping your tag, and it will instantly tell you if it’s yours or not. This definitely is a great product, and seems to be a good company. If you’re interested, you can check them out at syncfind.io TL-DR: I’m lazy and was tired of writing stuff down on luggage tags, so I found a smarter solution.

2023.06.06 18:53 beautifulscoop Did you get the scoop on the Binance crypto scandal?

In a shock to absolutely no one, the SEC has sued Binance and CEO Changpeng Zhao for allegedly violating U.S. securities laws. Apparently, they thought it would be kosher to mix billions of dollars in user funds and send them to a European company controlled by Zhao himself.
They even admitted to operating as an unlicensed securities exchange in the U.S. and creating a shield called BinanceUS to protect themselves from any law enforcement targets. They also leveraged creative evasion tactics, such as using VPN services to hide customers' locations and submitting compliance documents to blur their country of origin.
And of course, they engaged in some good old-fashioned wash trading to manipulate prices and make a quick buck. Wash trading is when someone buys and sells the same asset, like cryptocurrencies, to create fake trading volume and give the appearance of activity.
The SEC is now accusing them of deception, conflicts of interest, and calculated law evasion as the SEC tends to do when you blatantly disregard the law.

2023.06.06 18:52 Bubblesandbiscuits Coffee - one of life’s great little pleasures (for me)…

Just thought I’d throw this little tidbit out there for anyone in search of regaining some normalcy and having some of life’s little pleasures we had so freely before being floxed. I find aside from the floxing itself, it’s an extreme and difficult loss adjustment to have had the fun with food, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, sports so cruelly and quickly stolen. I love love loved coffee and good wine with friends… my social life revolved around it. Also loved to dance. Well, maybe I can’t have it all back anytime soon, but every little bit counts.
I found a decaf coffee with no mycotoxins, no other additives, and decaf is 99.9% rate (only 0.1% caffeine) by the decaf cleansing process they use (versus 90-95% decaf level of most). I’ve been drinking one mug each morning and it’s bringing me the joy of a child on Christmas morning. It may not be great for everyone, but I wanted to let you know that it’s out there for those of you who want that little morning ritual back.
Think can’t put brands on here and there may be more out there than just this one, but if you want to know what I found, feel free to PM me.
Wishing you all more joy, less pain and distress and a positive healing journey leading you back to good health.
