2023.06.07 07:34 ReAssignedX 38 [M4M] Recently widowed Queer from Southern California looking for Straight/Open Male companionship
I'm assigned male at birth (AMAB) but non-binary (x) hence my reddit username. I recently lost my life-partner (its been six months) and I am attempting to fill an emotional and ... flirtatious void. (Aside: I have a psychologist and a psychiatrist in case there's any concern).
I've been looking to chat with Straight men [only] who are open/experimental and lean dominant. I'm just in need of masculine comfort.
Ideally, I'd love to chat with attached/Married men (in open relationships) looking to add something extra to their lives. Men who are cocky, showoffs and routinely stirred by the idea of their next 'conquest' always manage to catch my interest. I also adore the Himbo types. I'm a huge comic book/anime nerd, so any guys into the same should get along with me great.
Interests: Comics (DC/MARVEL), animation, anime, manga, philosophy, theology, political science, gender studies, paranormal/occult.
Favorite movies: BLACK SWAN, THE LAST UNICORN, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE, HOME ALONE 2, US, HALLOWEEN (2019), anything MCU or DC ANIMATED
Currently on my Discovery+ watch list: THESE WOODS ARE HAUNTED, THE HAUNTED MUSEUM, TRUE TERROR, BELIVERS, MY HAUNTED HOUSE, WHERE MURDR LIES, DEADLY AFFAIRS, THE PERFECT MURDER, UNUSUAL SUSPECTS, FATAL VOWS, BLOOD RELATIVES, MARRIED WITH SECRETS, MANSION&MURDERS, FATAL VOWS, BEHIND MANSION WALLS, A CRIME TO REMEMBER, WHOO THE [BLEEP], DEADLY WOMEN, PROPERTY BROTHER, FLIP OR FLOP, MILLION DOLLAR ROOMS, LOVE IT OR LIST IT.
Currently on my Hulu watch list: MOM, AMERICAN DAD!, BOB'S BURGERS, FRAISER, FUTURAMA, LIVING SINGLE, ANIMANIACS, TWO SENTENCE HORROR STORIES, THE GREAT, BLEACH: THOUSAND-YEAR BLOOD WAR.
Currently on my Paramount+ watch list: STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, STAR TREK: PICARD, STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, STAR TREK: PRODIGY, DARIA, I LOVE LUCY.
Be sure to check through my posts for other interests/selfies. If you happen to be local to Los Angeles county, I'd be interested in meeting in persona as well.

2023.06.07 06:59 Sorsha_OBrien When do you think it's good to have a introduction then time jump?
I recently watched a YouTube vide saying the live-action remake of
Cinderella was the best remake and a good film overall. A way in which they improved on the original was showing Ella (as she's called) as a happy child with her loving mum and dad. Then, they showed her mother getting sick, then dying, then her dad remarrying, and then him also dying later. Then, there's a time skip to the future which shows Ella (now cruelly nicknamed 'Cinderella' by her step mother and step sisters) working as a maid and being abused by her step-family.
The YouTuber said it was good the new
Cinderella explored Ella's childhood and parents more (as in the original you don't see much of it). It fleshed out the characters of Ella, her mum, and her dad and showed her happy childhood, it made you empathise with Ella for the loss of her mum and dad, it set up/ foreshadowed her step-mother being cruel, and it showed the film's central themes (Ella's mother is the one that told her to be kind and brave).
I've also noticed some other (Disney) films follow this, with an 'introduction' to the young main character(s), and then a time jump, where we move to the main 'plot'/ story. For instance, the films Anastasia, Tangled, and Frozen all have a small portion at the beginning that shows the characters as children, and then a time skip where we get to the 'main' story (where these characters are older, usually teenagers/ young adults).
The introduction also normally shows something changing for the main character(s), usually negative, and is related to the character's 'wound', or is the main thing 'wrong' with the character's life after the time skip. It also tends to set up other characters, including villains, and sets up the theme as well (as most introductions do anyways).
- For instance, in Cinderella, we see Ella's life gradually get worse and worse (something negative happening to character) as her mum dies, then her dad dies, and she is left with her cruel step-mother. After the time skip, we see how she's been turned into a servant by her step-family, and this is the negative situation she is now in and the main thing wrong with her life.
- In Frozen, we see Elsa and Ana playing with each other and having a great relationship as children, but then (negative change) Elsa accidentally hurts Ana and her parents take Ana to be healed by the rock trolls. The trolls take away Ana's memory of Elsa's powers (another negative), and Elsa becomes afraid of hurting Ana (and others) (Elsa's wound). Her parents also don't help this whole situation, and the girls' relationship with each other suffers. Then, their parents also die (another negative), making it so the two girls are the only family they have, making it even sadder that Ana wants to have a relationship with her sister, but is rebuffed by Elsa. After the time skip, Elsa still has this wound (she doesn't want to hurt anyone) and Ana still wants to connect with her sister and others. Their strained relationship now (negative situation) is because of Elsa's wound.
- In Tangled, we're shown how Rapunzel is stolen from her real parents by Gothel, and raised in isolation in a tower (wound). Then, after the time skip, we see how Rapunzel yearns to leave the tower and see what's outside. The thing 'wrong' with Rapunzel's life is that she has been raised in a tower but wants to see what the world is like outside.
- You can also see this in The Lion King, however, the 'introduction' part where the wound/ current scenario is set up takes up way more run time than these other films. As in, Simba spends maybe a third to half the film as a child, and the rest as an adult, whereas Tangled, Cinderella, and Frozen have maybe five or ten minutes of the main characters being children. But, the same thing happens in this 'introduction' part -- Simba's father is killed, Simba thinks he is to blame for his father's death (wound), Simba runs away because of this and then is chased by hyenas (negative changes), and then is eventually found/ cheered up by Timone and Pumba. After the time jump, we see how he's haunted by the past and thinks he is to blame for his father's death. His wound is shaping his reality.
- Finding Nemo also does this, except the main character is Marlin (an adult) and Nemo (as an egg), and shows Marlin's wounds (the death of his wife and children by a predator) which later explains his strained relationship with his son after the time jump. Marlin is overly protective of his son because of his wound (established in the introduction) and this makes a negative situation occur, ie the strained relationship of Marlin and his son. (Now that I come to think of it, Finding Nemo is quite similar to Frozen).
So yeah, I was wondering what are the pros/ cons of having the introduction-then-time-jump in a story, and when it's good to have it and when it's not. I feel like the main thing it does is explain the (negative) situation the character is in at the 'start' of the story or the character's wounds/ how they got into this negative situation/ got these wounds. Basically, the 'introduction' part is the backstory but you don't hear about the character's backstory from other characters, or flashbacks, you're there with the character, so you're more likely to empathize with the character, and feel like the characte world is more cohesive/ changing.
I also feel like this is good if you need to know specific information that increases tension -- for instance, if there was no backstory for Anastasia, we would just think she was a girl with no memory -- we wouldn't actually know she is Princess Anastasia. The same goes with Tangled -- we, the audience, know Rapunzel was kidnapped and used for her hair, but Rapunzel doesn't know this, so like with Anastasia, we're waiting for her to find this out. In terms of Finding Nemo, I think the writers/ producers actually did a test where they showed the film with and without the introduction/ backstory bit, and people didn't empathize with Marlin (the main character) and thus didn't like him as much. But when it was showed WHY Marlin was being so overprotective, we could understand why he was acting this way.
For Cinderella and Frozen, I feel like it's main goal was to empathise with the characters and root for them later getting back to a place of happiness/ kindness -- for instance, we want Elsa and Ana to repair their relationship and get back to them being close as kids, whereas for Cinderella, we want Cinderella to have a loving family/ loving people around her as an adult, like she had her loving parents when she was a kid.
But yeah, what are your thoughts of the introduction-then-time-jump thing, and where have you seen it work/ not work? In what cases do you think it is needed (if any?)

2023.06.07 03:36 ItsAlmostShowtime Predicting family fare for the rest of the year
Elemental:
33M OW
102M DOM
330M WW
It will do worse domestically than Lightyear, but will do better than it internationally. Predicting this does worse than Sing 2 which idk how bold that is.
Ruby Gillman:
21M OW
71M DOM
160M WW
Could be a quiet hit depending on the budget. Feel there is interest for this one.
Not sure if Barbie is family fare but will add it anyway:
70M OW
198M DOM
500M WW
Will be huge but pretty frontloaded. Betting families will just recognize Barbie on the poster and think it's a full on Barbie movie. Ig it's not inappropriate enough to be off this list. Will barely cross the half a billion mark.
Haunted Mansion:
25M OW
82M DOM
190M WW
This looks like a bomb. Releasing 5 days before Ninja Turtles doesn't help and people will just wait to watch it on Disney+ in time for Halloween.
Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem:
35M 3 day/52M 5 day
130M DOM
480M WW
The goodwill from Across the Spider Verse will help this and it seems to have the same energy. Will definitely be the highest grossing animated Nickelodeon Movies film.
Blue Beetle seems family oriented:
28M OW
80M DOM
200M WW
I don't expect this to do very well but if the budget is under 100M, it could break even through VOD. The superhero is not a household name.
White Bird:
8M OW
35M DOM
70M WW
The failure of Are You There God? It's Me Margaret made me lose hope of a high opening weekend, but this should leg good enough as the market will be starved for non PG-13 family films besides Ninja Turtles.
Paw Patrol 2:
17M OW
50M DOM
210M WW
Predicting this only increases slightly over the original domestically, but Paw Patrol is still an international powerhouse.
Ordinary Angels:
9M OW
34M DOM
40M WW
These religious family films tend to do well for the budgets. Probably similar numbers to Overcomer.
Trolls Band Together:
35M OW
100M DOM
390M WW
Competition with Wish should have this make less than the first Trolls, family sequels doing worse than the first is common anyway. Predicting numbers below Sing 2 as Trolls isn't as all ages as Sing.
Wish:
60M 3 day/85M 5 day
220M DOM
630M WW
A moderate hit for Disney.
Wonka:
50M OW
290M DOM
630M WW

2023.06.07 03:28 bphilippi92 [TOMT] [Movie] [90s/00s] [Disney] Live-action Disney/DCOM about 3 siblings moving from foster family to foster family. There's a room they're not supposed to enter...
There's an older brother, middle sister, and unsure about 3rd sibling. They get passed from foster family to foster family, and they end up at a family with a mansion. The house has everything 3 kids would want, there's unlimited junk food, butlers and maids, tons of toys, etc. But the only rule is they're not allowed to enter this specific room in the house. The sister(?) gets curious and peeks in there and gets caught by the mom or maybe dad? They get angry and send them back to foster care for disobeying (?).
This probably came out late 90s/ early 00s, but for all I know this could be an 80s movie. I can't remember if it's Disney or DCOM, but could easily be neither, and I just remember watching it on Disney Channel.
I tried searching Google for 3 orphans not allowed to enter room, and kept getting the movie The Orphan, which it's definitely not that. I have also considered Flowers In The Attic, which, great movie, but it's not that either. This was definitely a movie geared towards kids.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!!

2023.06.07 00:45 grey_the_ripper Internal Struggles
Nobody ever really talks about the good times. Sometimes even I like to believe they never happened. Iāve been away from my abusive and narcissistic father for about 4 years now and sometimes those good days still haunt me. Heās the one that taught me how to hunt and how to fish. He took me all over the south to different states, fishing, hiking, seeing things. Heās the one that took me to Disney world and the one that brought me back all kinds of cool stuff from his trips to Thailand to visit my stepmoms family. He helped me build my retro video game arsenal. He had so many cool guns and always knew how to fix things.
But,
The dark parts remain.
Every time we had those memories I dive deeper into them. Remembering how when I was lost at Disney world and when he found me, the only thing he was concerned with was how mad at me he was. No emotions, no affection, those things were for women not for men. Every time weād go hunting or fishing itās like I found a new way to disappoint him. When I couldnāt drag a deer or Turkey out of the woods I was a disappointment. When I didnāt understand how to drive stick at age 11 I was a disappointment.
The bruises, the slaps, the boot prints in my ribs, they all hailed in comparison to how awful he made me feel with his words and the look of shame in his eyes.

2023.06.07 00:03 LavenderAndHoneybees First Visit Advice
Hi! I and my family will be visiting WDW for the first time next month to celebrate my mum beating cancer :) None of us have ever been to a Disney park (we're UK based and are more the Alton Towers sort've crowd), so I've been endlessly researching and planning for months to try make our week go as smoothly as possible. So, I thought I'd post the plan outline here to get everyone's thoughts!
Context info: it'll be me (F27, coaster enthusiast), my brother (M18, terrified of most rides), and my parents, both of whom enjoy a good thrill ride. We're not really interested in the whole character meet and greet situation, and as we're only doing 4 park days, we know there's no 'getting everything in' - this is a first visit, we just want to have a good time, do the highlights, and try not to perish in the Florida heat and humidity!
Arrive Saturday 8th around 3pm Florida time - staying at the Swan. Parents figure they'll go chill by the pool, I'll likely join them but I've got us EPCOT park passes in case we want to wander down in the late afternoon/evening for a nose
Sunday 9th - Magic Kingdom, our first full park day! We have a dining reservation for Be Our Guest in the evening, and are planning to hit classics like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, etc, while also hoping we get a virtual queue for Tron.
Monday 10th - EPCOT. Dinner reservation is for the San Angel Inn (we want a sit down dinner at least once per full park day, expensive yes, but it's a must for my parents). I'm hoping to do Cosmic Rewind, maybe ratatouille and frozen, and definitely living with the land!
Tuesday 11th - we're going to try out the Disney water park (the open one) this day. My brother loves a water slide so hopefully he won't be too traumatised by any of the rides this day. I've booked us a dining reservation for 7.30 on the paddlefish šš š”
Wednesday 12th - we're hoping to do Universal Islands of Adventure here, I was going to grab tickets online but 1-day tickets seem confusingly hard to come by? We'll probably just grab on gate. (Velocicoaster here I come šāāļøšāāļøšāāļø)
Thursday 13th - Hollywood Studios and Tower of Terror I AM COMING FOR YOU. I have bought the t-shirt in advance. But yes, thrill rides here and I've booked Oga's Cantina for drinks at 3.35pm and dinner at the Hollywood Brown Derby at 6.40. We need to, somehow, get on Rise, ideally without a 2 hour wait. My stepfather is a huge star wars fan and I myself would love to experience the world's best dark ride (supposedly)
Friday 14th - Animal Kingdom. I'm aware this park isn't super ride heavy because its also half zoo, so aside from all the Avatar stuff we're aiming to do Expedition Everest, dine at a restaurant I've temporarily forgotten the name of but doesn't require reservations (Nomad Lounge is it? DFB guide talks about it a lot), and maybe hop over to EPCOT or MK in the evening if we're done with AK to see the fireworks before we leave (as this will be our final Disney day.
On Saturday 15th we'll be flying out to Miami for a week relaxing on South Beach š
So, let me hear it! Tips, tricks, advice etc, I'm all ears (no pun intended š)

2023.06.06 23:27 EntrancedForever Entity's Impact
So, the Entity pulls Survivors and Killers alike into its realm from across the Omniverse, right? Okay, but only some of these people like Bill, Amanda, or the Twins are dead when they arrive. With the amount of mysterious disappearances going on, that raises questions of what happens
after those people vanish.
- The Blight was a guy who tried to study the Entity. I doubt he and the Observer are the only people who've decided to try looking into this, especially with the amount of people who mysteriously vanish, including celebrities (Feng Min, Jane Romero, Yun-Jin Lee, Nicholas Cage, the Trickster, the Artist) and notorious criminals (The Legion, Ghostface, the Deathslinger, the Skull Merchant) and such.
- TV Tropes did a whole Fridge Horror thing about how boned the Resident Evil world is without Jill, Chris, Leon, and the others, though some pointed out that certain events couldn't happen without Jill or Leon, so Chris is possibly from another timeline or something. They certainly aren't from the timeline the actual RE games take place in. On that note, I'm not an Army of Darkness/Evil Dead expert, but what's gonna happen to that world without Ash?
- Surely the worlds of Stranger Things, Halloween, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. are safer without their killers, but TV Tropes also pointed out that Nancy and Steve's disappearance is gonna cause some grief. Does Dr. Loomis know Laurie is missing? Will he be able to sleep at night thinking Michael escaped and could be anywhere out there?
- Some descriptions I read imply that the places these Killers left behind are still haunted (The Wraith's junkyard and the Oni's bio both hint at this) So are the Entity's realms connected to the real locations they're based on?
- For that matter, Add-Ons. Are they replicas of items made by the Entity, or real things taken from those worlds? I ask because one of Michael's add-ons is his sister's tombstone. Is someone on his world just gonna go to the cemetary and notice Judith Meyers' grave doesn't have a tombstone anymore?
- There's something creepy about the fact that Bill's fellow survivors and John Kramer are just gonna keep doing what they're doing in their world, unaware that Bill and Amanda are in the Entity's realm. Hell, John should count himself lucky that he doesn't end up there, given the amount of blood on his hands. And don't give me that "He's not a killer" crap. The Wraith qualifies as a killer and he just threw people in a crusher.
- Given the whole omniverse thing, people on TV Tropes began wondering what other worlds the Entity could reach. To paraphrase, the omniverse refers to everything, ranging from Marvel and DC's multiverse to the Disney Animated Canon to the Whoniverse to even real life, as Cage shows. Ghostface gets a Scary Movie mask, which implies that world isn't safe, so what else could the Entity reach? All the reboots and remakes aren't safe as diet Freddy Krueger shows, so what if the Entity went after the OG Freddy or the New Nightmare version? Jason clashed with Freddy and Ash, which means he could be dragged into this too. What about their appearances in Mortal Kombat, bringing up Alien and Predator? What about Silent Hill's crossovers with Super Bomberman R of all things, putting Castlevania on this radar as well? What about a good chunk of these horror movies being a thing at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, adding even more monstrous killers to the Entity's potential roster? Or the many Capcom crossovers that connect Resident Evil to Darkstalkers, Dead Rising, or even Smash Bros. Ultimate.
- With that in mind, how many of these worlds have people that could combat the Entity? Castlevania and Darkstalkers have some crazy powerful monsters, and not all of them are evil or would want to go along with the Entity (Morrigan Aensland, Soma Cruz, Alucard, etc.) Smash Bros. features a literal Goddess (Two if you count Zelda), and Sora, a guy who, after losing most of his power, could still fight the Titans that beat Zeus. Marvel and DC heroes have faced things with far more power and more omnicidal motives than the Entity, and hell, some survivors like Ash or Cheryl could get a leg up on it if freed from its influence.
Your thoughts?

2023.06.06 16:36 CP4-Throwaway Reasons why _ borns are definitely Generation _ By Life Stages: Analysis (Series #5: Reasons why 1998 borns are definitely Millennials)
| Reasons why 1998 borns are definitely Millennials Life stages (these are not objective life stages but just what's going to be used for this analysis): 0-4 = Unconscious child 4-10 = Conscious child 10-18 = Adolescent (child by legality) 18-34 = Young adult 34-50 = Average adult (not needed since this cohort will not reach that stage until 2032) Life Stage #1: Unconscious child = c. 1998-2002 https://preview.redd.it/z02tv9aese4b1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=388606da979c74039aabfcebb498095acd171103 They were born during the baby bust birthrate drop during the mid-late 90s. They were also born in the midst of the Clinton administration, along with the Monica Lewinsky scandal, right in the middle of the DotCom Bubble internet boom, during the peak of the 90s prosperity and optimism that the US experienced. They were born during what many would call "the peak of human civilization". They didn't become conscious until George W. Bush was in office and 9/11 had already happened, as well as the War On Terror commencing. Their unconscious childhood years took place at the turn of the millennium, during the final days of the post-Cold War "End of History" prosperous atmosphere in the United States, along with the launches of the Gameboy Color (1998), and Windows 98 came out the year this cohort was born. The 5th generation of gaming was still the priority as the N64 & PS1 were at its peak, but it was the beginning of the transition into the 6th generation of gaming as the Sega Dreamcast came out (1999 US release, 1998 in Japan), followed by the PlayStation 2 (2000), Nintendo GameCube, Gameboy Advance (2001). Not to mention that Sega dropped out of the console race and Microsoft entered the console race and debuted with the XBOX the same year (2001). Michael Jackson released his final album Invincible (2001). Shows like Dawson's Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Friends were the most popular shows during this timespan, right after Seinfeld had ended the year they were born and the Simpsons also started to suck then too. In the scale of current events, their unconscious childhood took place during the impeachment of President Clinton (1999), Columbine shooting (1999), optimism/hype for the new millennium, Y2K scare (1999), colloquial turn of the millennium and its respective celebrations (1999-2000), the Bush v. Gore election (2000), the actual turn of the millennium (2000-2001), the inauguration of GWB (2001), the September 11th attacks (2001), Anthrax scare (2001), Afghanistan War and beginning of the War on Terror (2001), TSA & Patriot Act (2001), No Child Left Behind Act (2001), the introduction of the Euro, DC Sniper shootings (2002), Iraq War WMD rumors (2002), and Department of Homeland Security formation (2002). This is a pretty Millennial time to be born, contrary to popular belief. Age 0 - 1998/1999 Age 1 - 1999/2000 Age 2 - 2000/2001 Age 3 - 2001/2002 Age 4 - 2002 Life stage #2: Conscious child = c. 2002-2008 https://preview.redd.it/d54bg46fse4b1.png?width=225&format=png&auto=webp&s=8820d30da8b6d6c2519a552daf3357339a3194cd They were a conscious child during the Aughts. They became conscious during the post-9/11 pessimistic atmosphere and national patriotism being at an all-time high. Their first vivid memory probably involved something related to WMDs or international affairs in the Middle East in general, or probably watching either Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network or some kids-related program, whether it was Rugrats, Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, Arthur, Lizzie McGuire, Powerpuff Girls, etc. They were children during a not so good time in America, let alone the whole world. 9/11 had just happened, and because of that, it caused a huge lockdown on airport security, and it's been that way ever since. Events that happened were the establishment of DHS, DC Sniper attacks (2002), Afghanistan and Iraq Wars, DVD overtaking VHS and becoming the hottest attraction, the birth of social media with MySpace and Facebook (and arguably Friendster), 2004 election, Web 1.0 becoming Web 2.0 (2004), Hurricane Katrina (2005), 7/7 London bombings (2005), Pluto no longer being a planet (2006), Housing bubble burst (2006ish), introduction of Blu-Ray (2006ish), HD-DVD (2006-2008), the commercial death of VHS (2006 officially, 2008 unofficially), the iPhone launch (2007), CRTs being overtaken by HDTVs (2007), and none other than the Great Recession (2007-2009) and Obama v. McCain election (2008). They were also children during the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom era and the dying days of Pokemon's golden era, as well as the Silver and Bronze ages of Nickelodeon, the golden and silver ages of Cartoon Network (Powerhouse era, followed by the CN City and Fall eras), and the peak of Disney Channel (golden age of DCOMs, peak of Pixar, peak of live action sitcoms). They probably could've went with their parents to see movies like the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Daddy Day Care, The Cat in the Hat, Austin Powers, Are We There Yet?, Cars, etc. They were probably busy on their XBOX playing Halo, GameCube playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, or their PS2 playing GTA San Andreas. Speaking of video games, this was the prime 6th generation of video game consoles, as well as the early days of the 7th generation of video games, thanks to the releases of the Nintendo DS (2004), PSP (2005), Xbox 360 (2005), PlayStation 3 and Wii (2006). Their childhood would be dominated by the rise of reality TV, thanks to shows like Survivor, The Osbournes, The Simple Life, Pimp My Ride, MTV Cribs, Punk'd, Keeping it Up with the Kardashians, etc. On a side note, in terms of kid shows, they would've been old enough to catch reruns of The Amanda Show and Even Stevens, but young enough for iCarly and Hannah Montana. Perfect age for Drake & Josh and Zoey 101. If they were watching the NBA, they would've witnessed the rise of the 2003 draft class (Lebron, DWade, Carmelo) and the primes of Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant. If they were watching pro-wrestling, would've caught the entire Ruthless Aggression era, and if they watched the NFL, witnessed the Patriots dynasty at work. They would've been some of the last to remember a world before social media and broadband internet. This childhood experience screams Millennial, but specifically second-wave Millennial, a.k.a. "Echo Buster" or "Zillennial". Age 4 - 2002/2003 Age 5 - 2003/2004 Age 6 - 2004/2005 Age 7 - 2005/2006 Age 8 - 2006/2007 Age 9 - 2007/2008 Age 10 - 2008 Life stage #3: Adolescent = c. 2008-2016 https://preview.redd.it/1kuhz94gse4b1.png?width=970&format=png&auto=webp&s=b6986205bcf7d9317cfd4145c8e3def4a0de1bca Their adolescence began during the return of pop music being at the forefront of the mainstream music, thanks to the "electropop" club boom, with the likes of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga leading it. They would've caught the dying days of rock's relevance in the mainstream and emo being relevant. Later on in their adolescence, other musical genres like dubstep, EDM, indie pop, Chicago drill, trap/mumble rap, etc. would dominate. The internet had fully taken over at this point, and technology was at a massive transition at this time. Dial-up internet became fully replaced by broadband, fast-speed internet. Web 2.0 became the norm, social media was officially the norm now with MySpace's dominance, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Vine, Instagram, and Snapchat, most households acquired flat screen HDTVs and gradually got rid of all their CRTs, digital tech would fully replace analog tech, VHS would completely die, Blu-ray peaked during this time and DVDs were still very relevant. This would be the last era of dominance for cable television before streaming would take over. Blockbuster would go out of business thanks to the popularity of Netflix. On the current event scale, their adolescence began with the 2008 financial collapse (killing off the era of ultra-consumerism and McMansions), a black president taking office, 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike, H1N1 crisis, death of Michael Jackson (2009), Affordable Care Act (2010), death of Osama Bin Laden, Occupy Wall Street, and end of Iraq War (2011), death of fellow 1995 cohort Trayvon Martin (2012) which launched the BLM movement (2013), KONY 2012, Aurora shootings, Hurricane Sandy, and the Sandy Hook shootings (2012), Mayan predictions of the 2012 apocalypse, the Crimean annexation (2013-2014), ISIS (2014), Ferguson riots (2014-2015), legalization of gay marriage in all 50 states (2015), Trump announcing his run for office (2015), Paris attacks (2015), Brexit (2016), and the Trump v. Clinton election (2016). They grew up during the era of John Cena, Kanye West, Rihanna, Drake, Justin Bieber, Soulja Boy, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Jonas Brothers, Randy Orton, Batista, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Big Time Rush, One Direction, Lorde, etc. Their "coming of age" films probably would've been Easy A, Prom, 21 & 22 Jump Street, The Duff, and the Edge of Seventeen, and especially Diary of a Wimpy Kid would be the best representation of their middle school years in the late 00s-early 10s, as well as the "coming of age" shows like Degrassi, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Glee, 16 & Pregnant, Shameless, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, iCarly, Victorious, etc. They would've still been old enough to experience COD during its peak from 2009-2013, and would be old enough to be in those Modern Warfare 2 lobbies on Xbox 360 (if you know, you know), as well as being relatively young enough to play some Minecraft in its early stages. They were the prime age of teenagers playing GTA V. Speaking of gaming, they would've been adolescents during the late 7th and early 8th generations of gaming, as gaming started to decline in quality as time went on. This adolescent experience is still pretty Millennial, to be honest. Age 10 - 2008/2009 Age 11 - 2009/2010 Age 12 - 2010/2011 Age 13 - 2011/2012 Age 14 - 2012/2013 Age 15 - 2013/2014 Age 16 - 2014/2015 Age 17 - 2015/2016 Age 18 - 2016 Life stage #4: Young adulthood = c. 2016-present https://preview.redd.it/rc4dnqvgse4b1.png?width=1980&format=png&auto=webp&s=fc41354449eda8c89f668830680d2abdb28564c7 Their young adulthood was very radical, socially speaking. Their young adulthood would witness many social movements like a huge uptick in third wave feminism and women right's movements, #MeToo, a radicalization in political beliefs as things get wackier (think of Matt Walsh's "What is a Woman" for an example, pronouns, men participating in female sports, and woke culture in general), and of course cancel culture being a thing. This was the peak of polarization and everyday people became more divided then ever. Their young adulthood conveniently commenced around the time of the 2016 presidential election, being the youngest members to vote in that election. The Trump administration in itself was very interesting to witness as a young adult. Mass shootings increased with Isla Vista, Orlando nightclub, Las Vegas, and Parkland to name a few. Climate change started to become talked about as a problem or major issue by many political figures and talking heads. Trump would become impeached twice, which was never seen before in a presidency. Their young adulthoods would get even crazier as the Covid pandemic came about, with the threat of WW3, Kobe Bryant dying, BLM at its peak with the death of George Floyd, the infamous 2020 election, vaccine rollout, polarization increasing, Russia-Ukraine wars, death of Queen Elizabeth and coronation of King Charles, rise of AI with the launch of ChatGPT, popularity of NFTs and the rise of the "Metaverse", an incoming recession thanks to the Silicon Valley Bank going bankrupt and the rise of Central Bank Digital Currency with the FedNow releasing in July 2023, etc. And their young adulthood is still ongoing, being that they are currently 24-25 years old. Since they are still young adults, they are in their "core prominence" and their main influence/impact in the realm of pop culture. Many musical genres like tropical house, EDM, trap, mumble rap, Soundcloud rap, emo rap, melodic rap, drill, bedroom pop, retro pop, and many more, emerged during this time period. Shows like The Middle, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, Empire, Power, Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, Riverdale, etc., were/are pretty popular shows and/or cultural powerhouses of entertainment, followed by the MCU. Most of this cohort are still prolonging to have kids but more of them are starting to get married and have kids, so eventually there will be an uptick of them raising families, however, not anytime soon.
