I want to rent a dedicated server to play with friends on ps4, I have an Xbox. It says on the astroneer wiki that this is possible, but nitrado and gportal only offer servers for PC. I’ve rented an astroneer server before, and I’m pretty sure it was on nitrado, where I was able to play on Xbox and my friend on ps4. Am I doing something wrong? Is this not possible anymore?

Soil is the key to salvation-----------------
-Soil collected into soil containers put through Soil Centrifuge
-Soil gets convertered into Resin
-Resin goes into a small printer making soil containers
-Soil containers sent to large shredder which makes scrap
-Scrap sent to Trading platform and/or Research Chamber
Trading platform can use scrap to purchase a wide variety of resources without going to other planets. Other resource that can be used with Trading platform is Astronium a resource that can be mined at the core of the planet, which can be used to purchase much rarer resources.
The Research Chamber accepts scrap and turns it into bytes (currency to purchase blueprints)

2022.12.05 15:44 sarashinai Suggestion: In-Game Information
Hello Astroneers!
I've now hit my second stumble on in-game technology descriptions. The first was with the Atmospheric Condenser. I was delayed building it for a long time because I THOUGHT I had to build the condenser and the canister to use it. As the canister requires gasses and the condenser is the only way to get gasses... you see the loop. It was only after reading a post of someone else hitting the same problem that I found out that it creates its own small canisters and the one you research is only for large storage. Annoying, but harmless.
The recent one was with the Extra Large Shredder. I constructed it and saw it needed a larger platform. This time, I checked the wiki and it connected it to extra large platforms. So I researched and built the 3-resin one, didn't work. I researched and built the 4-iron one, didn't work. It seems like the only one that will work is the circular one. That was costly in bytes, resources, and time.
These are purely issues with the item descriptions in the technology interface. These kind of issues could be easily solved. For example...
- The Atmospheric Condenser could have the extra sentence "Generates its own small canisters."
- The Extra Large Shredder could have the addition "Only compatibly with Extra Large Platform A."
I shouldn't have to go out of the game to find the information specific to the technologies in it.

2022.11.07 12:15 statox42 How do you prepare your projects?
Hello fellow solar system explorer!
I would like to understand how people plan their projects in Astroneer. To take a simple example if I'm going to build an Hydrazine farm in early game there is a lot of information I'll need to gather:
- I will lookup the recipe for Hydrazine (2 Ammonium, 1 Hydrogen)
- If I don't have a pile of Hydrogen available I'll check
- Which planet has the highest concentration of Hydrogen
- What's the recipe of the Atmospheric Condenser
- Its power needs, the power available on the planet, the best options to power the system with the resources I have available
- The recipe for the gas canister, the storage silo
- The usual production time for the Atmospheric condenser to estimate how long it will need to run to produce the required amount of Hydrogen
- Then one I have all the Hydrogen I need I'll want to setup an auto extractor on an ammonium deposit, an auto arm to put the ammonium in a Chemistry Lab with a stock of Hydrogen and a bunch of Soil and Fluids Canisters. For that I'll check
- The recipe pour the Extractor, the auto arm, the canisters, etc...
- The platforms I'll need to setup everything
- Again the power needs: Solar or Wind? How many batteries to have to run as efficiently as possible
... And so many other things, you get the idea.
To do this kind of things I find the in game menu and the Astropedia not super convenient (while super immersive and really cool) and the info in the wiki is not always consistent and not easy to navigate. So I'm creating
my own webapp to help me do all of that.
But I'm also curious to know how other people are doing: When I see people creating mega bases, huge factories and all of that I can only imagine that some of you have excel spreadsheets, maybe pen and paper solutions and probably other custom solutions like
this Astroneer Helper app.
So here are a few questions:
- How do you gather all the information you need to start a project? Do you rely exclusively on the in-game info, do you use the wiki, your memory, something else?
- How do you estimate your power needs?
- How do you estimate your storage needs?
- What are your major pain points? And your best tips and tricks?
- For now my app is meant to only fit my own workflow but if someone was to make your ideal companion app for Astroneer what would it look like and which features would you be looking for?

2022.10.23 19:34 DisgruntledDiggit Watches of Westeros
House of the Dragon is about to finish up its first season. I’ve enjoyed seeing the world of Ice and Fire come to life on TV again, as I can tell many others have as well. To mark the occasion, I decided to mashup two of my nerd-doms: ASOIAF, and watches. My little project has been to determine what wristwatch would be worn by the lords of each major house, and passed on from generation to generation. Because Valyrian steel swords aren’t the only things that are just looked after for the next generation. It spun a bit out of control, and I ended up covering a vassal house for each great one, and a few others beyond that. There are 25, and each has a watch from a different brand, so see if you can find your favorite brand, and let us know what house you ended up joining! And if your favorite watch or house wasn't listed, I'd love to hear some suggestions!
Great Houses (in order of conquest) House Targaryen: The Targaryens are a mighty house, but have never been the richest or most extravagant. Aegon the Conquerer made his throne of iron and his crown was a simple circlet of Valyrian steel. That Targeryn watch should be simple and austere, yet strong and mighty. All that, plus its
Damascus Valyrian steel appearance makes the
Sinn 1800 S GG Damaszener the right choice for the House of the Dragon.
House Tully: The Lords Paramount of the Trident have a sigil unique among the other great lords. The background is actually two colors: Red and Blue. So of course they need a Pepsi of some kind. Their castle, River Run, is surrounded on all three sides by water, so a dive watch is preferred too. Enter the
Tag Heuer Aquaracer GMT.
House Baratheon: House Baratheon are the Lords Paramount of the Stormlands and rule from Storm’s End which they took from the Storm Kings. They, obviously, deserve a ‘stormy’ watch. Preferably in yellow and black, the colors of their house. All that makes the
Brietling Avenger Hurricane 12H the perfect watch for this mighty house.
House Lannister: The Lannister ruled as Kings of the Rock for thousands of years before bending the knee and being named the Warden of the West. During that time they mined the westerlands’ seemingly endless gold mines and became the richest family Westeros has ever known. Unlike the Targaryens, they
will show off their wealth, and will drape the red and gold of their lion sigil over anything they can. A vintage, yellow gold
Rolex Day Date paved with
rocks (rubies and diamonds) Is just the type of thing they would wear to show off their ancient wealth.
House Reyen Once tried showing up the Lannisters’ Rolly by getting a Patek Nautilus, but...
uhhh.... House Tyrell: The Lord Paramount of the Reach’s sigil is a golden rose on a green field. Gold, green,
roses. One doesn’t really need any more explanation to understand why they would wear a
Tudor Black Bay Fifty Eight 18K. Its gold, its green, its got a rose on the crown, and Tudor is a brand that is, like the Tyrells, Growing Strong.
House Stark: The Wardens of the North are a practical family. Winterfell wasn’t built to impress like Highgarden, Sunspear, or the Red Keep. It was built to withstand long, dark, cold, brutal winters. Likewise, they will need a watch that can handle long, dark, cold, brutal winters. They need a
Ball Engineer III Outlier. The steel bezel and white dial echo the colors of their direwolf sigil, and the 24 hour hand and tritium tubes will help them keep track of the time during those long months in the middle of winter when The North won’t see a sunrise. And Winter Is Coming.
House Arryn: The Arryns rule the Vale of Arryn from their castle, The Eyrie, which looks out over the sky from the peak of a lone, steep mountain. They are one of the few families left who are almost fully Andal. They led the Andal Invasion into Westeros that rapidly changed the culture, technology, and landscape of the continent. Few First Men who didn’t join the Andals, or at least adopt their methods, survived. Likewise, Seiko led the quartz crisis, which rapidly changed the culture, technology, and landscape of horolgy. The highest pedigree of quartz is the 9F movement, as seen within the
Grand Seiko SBGP017 ‘Skyflake’.
House Greyjoy: The leaders of the Ironborn still follow the Old Way. They don’t worship a god with multiple personality disorder, or canabbalistic trees, or a fire demon that wants to burn everyone. They worship The Drowned God. He who dwells beneath the waves. They baptize themselves by self-drowning in the sea and are reborn with a kiss of life, for what is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger. They will need to wear a watch that will not just tell them the time, but tell them how close they are to their god’s watery abode. They need the
Oris Aquis Depth Guage. A happy bonus: it even matches the colors of their sigil!
House Martell: House Martell’s full name is actually House Nymeros Martell. This double name goes back to the time when Mors Martell, a fairly petty lord, wed Princess Nymeria of Ny Sar who led the Rhoynar to Dorne seeking refuge and prosperity. The newly combined house took the sigil of a speared sun, and went on to conquer all of Dorne. This wedding of two different peoples into one that went on to take the world by storm seems very reminiscent of Swatch teaming up with Omega! And thus their family watch shall be the
Bioceramic Moonswatch: Mission to the Sun. May it remain Unbowed, Unbent, Unbro-FUCK! THE PUSHER SNAPPED OFF!!!
Lesser Houses (in order of overlord's conquest) House Velaryon: Like the Targaryens, the Velaryons descend from Old Valyria and share Valyrian traits like silver hair and purple eyes. Thats about where the similarities end. Unlike the Targaryens, the Velaryon were never dragon lords; they were seafarers. The head of House Velaryon is titled “Lord of the Tides” and takes a silver seahorse on sea green as their sigil. Their watch would obviously be a vintage
Rado Silver Horse with a turquoise dial. A piece almost as rare as Valyrian blood.
House Mallister: The Tully’s have many prominent banner men to choose from: House Frey, house Darry, House Blackwood, House Broken. But I went with House Mallister for two good reason: I like their sigil, and I like this watch. House Mallister’s banners show a silver eagle on purple. The
Farer Discovery is silver (well, steel) and purple. I wish both got more attention.
House Tarth: The lords of the Sapphire Isle blazon their arms with moons on blue and suns on pink. Similarly, the
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar has a blue dial in a pink gold case, with a phase indicator for the moon, and a perpetual calendar for the sun. It is absolutely the right choice for the Evenstar’s watch.
House Prester: House Prester of Feastfire’s sigil is a red bull on an ermine field. The
Tissot Sideral Chronograph was a red bullhead chrono on a leather strap. Close enough.
House Fossoway:
'nuff said.
House Manderly: The Manderlys control the only sea port of note in The North, and they really lean into the aesthetic. They blazon their arms with a green mer-man and arm their guards with tridents. Some of them even use Tyroshi dyes to color their hair bright green. They would happily wear a
Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro.
House Royce: The Royces are an old house, who once conquered The Vale and Mountains and ruled as the Bronze Kings. To this day, they wear armor and carry a sigil of bronze surrounded by runes. Like House Royce, Hamilton is an old watch maker experienced in war. The
Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Bronze has a simple black dial, armored in bronze and surrounded by
runes full arabic numerals.
House Codd: The Codds are looked down upon even by the other Ironborn. They are considered base, vulgar, and an insult to anyone with eyes, ears, or noses. This is even reflected in their words: “Though All Men Do Despise Us”. You know what else all men do despise? The
Hublot Big Bang. Gross.
House Dayne: The Daynes are one of the most fascinating families in not just Dorne, but in all of the Seven Kingdoms. They were founded by Andal adventurers who followed a falling star to an island in the mouth of the river Torrington where they built their castle, Starfall. That fallen star was forged into the sword Dawn, which can only be used by a knight of their house deemed worthy and given the title Sword of the Morning. Their sigil tells this story by depicting a falling star and sword on a purple field. They deserve a watch that echos this: That always knows where it is and where its going, that gets its power from a star, and is purple. They deserve the
Seiko Astron SSH123.
Other groups and orders The Dothraki: A strong Dothraki Khal will live as much of his life on horseback as they can. Some only get off to sleep and screw (and some won’t even get off for those activities) They are a rugged people, and need a watch that can stand up to the riggers of horseback warfare. Lucky for them, the
JLC Reverso Classic was invented just for such a hard charging, horseback lifestyle… I mean, it was meant for polo players, but polo and warfare are pretty much the same, right?
Free Folk: Wildlings as the southerners below the wall call them, live simple lives by necessity. They are an old culture. Very old. They are the only ones left who can truly claim to be First Men. They still worship the Old Gods. They still speak the Old Tongue. They deserve a watch that is simple, and old. Blancpain is the oldest watchmaker in the world, and the simple yet hardy
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe in titanium on a nato will be of great use to them north of the wall.
The Night's Watch: The Night’s Watch used to
mean something. Taking the black was few men’s first choice, but it was a well respected option. In fact, for some it was their best chance at honor and glory. But something happened over time, so slowly that nobody seemed to notice until it was too late. It became a shell of its former self. With almost no monetary support, it had to settle for working with the less savory just to keep itself alive. Wait, did I say The Night’s Watch? I meant to say Movado. They get a
Museum Classic.
The Maesters: The learned men of Westeros famously wear chains made of many metals. Whenever they have demonstrated enough knowledge in a given field, they earn another link in that fields respective metal. The most experienced maesters can be identified by very long chains of many metals, and deserve a watch with many metals too. This
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M fits the bill well. The Sedna Gold (made of gold and copper) shows its wearer knows much about history and money. Im not sure what Titanium and Tantalum demonstrate, so lets say they stand for “Horology” and “shitposting”
Faith of the Seven: Just as the faith worships one god with seven faces, the
Jacob & Co Brilliant Full Baguette Rainbow White Gold is one watch with seven figures in its price tag. Don’t ask how the High Septon can afford that!
The Faceless Men:
Nixon Time Teller Asymmetrical Black & Silver. Because No One would wear this watch.
Bonus for making it this far House Hightower :

2022.10.20 01:51 No-Inspection-1345 OK, That's It! I QUIT! {Nintendo Switch Version Rant}
I'm done with Astroneer on the Switch. Ever since 2 of my favorite Youtubers played it, Z1 Gamer and OneLastMidnight, when it 1st came out on the PC {with the storms and the cave creeper}, I've wanted to play this game. I bought it on Steam to find out that my PC couldn't handle it. Being an educator and a family of 4. Buying/upgrading my PC wasn't in the cards. So I watched them play on Youtube/Twitch. Dreaming of all the things I would do if I could play it. On paper, I created resource factories for my students that could play it. I watched the LTE's and was like, "This is so cool!" and slowly dying inside as I watch the new items come and go to never have them myself. Then in December, learning that it was coming to the Switch in January 2022.... my wife and kids thought I needed to be sedated. Pre-ordered the game and when January came I was sure to pick it up on day one. Played it, loved it, and barely played anything else.
Started to notice issues in the gameplay on the Switch. I shrugged it off. The Switch was bound to have some issues. Then it started to freeze and fail to load at times {during the
EXO Salvage Initiative}. Then the "Rails" update came and excited me was quick to fire it up and then, CRASH! Tried again and it loaded and it CRASHED! again. I contacted System Era and they say they are working on it
{SIDE NOTE: I'm not bashing System Era. They have been very good at keeping in contact with their fans and working to fix bugs and glitches. They've contacted me several times to check on my issue and what I've done as I played through the game before the CRASH! Thank you System Era for keeping in contact with us and working with me in an attempt to solve this issue.} System Era had me try my save on various updates, but no change.
I stopped playing for awhile and then the
EXO Automated Mass Production Protocol (2022)) LTE started and I tried again...no luck. Didn't want to miss out on the event so I started a new game, completed the event, and was like ok. Let's keep going, but it started glitching out until it CRASHED! I stopped playing again and then the new
EXO F.A.R.M. (2022)) LTE came out and I tried again. I read Reddit posts, Discords, and the wiki. I learned about the memory size issue that might be causing the CRASHES. So I kept my new save under 10meg and completed the LTE. Thought I would continue with this new save. I had very little automation {3 autoarms }. My size was 3.9meg and DOOM! It CRASHED again. I went to play this afternoon, the game loaded, I went to get into my tractor and CRASH! Tried 3 times and my backup save...repeat of the same action. Try to get into any vehicle and it CRASHES. Tried to save instead of getting into a vehicle and it CRASHES. I'm done.

2022.10.06 19:34 Public-Eagle6992 Why was this edit deleted from the fandom page about bytes?
2022.10.03 13:48 statox42 Is the wiki table "Average Power rates for Wind Turbines on various Planets" accurate?
Hello fellow space explorers!
I am currently writing a webapp to help me plan and automate my projects in the game. One of the features of this tool is a power analyser: Given a planet, a number of power sources, a number of batteries and a number of power consuming tools I compute if I have enough power to power the tools and how long it takes to load and unload the batteries.
For my tool to be accurate I want to factor in the efficiency of the wind turbines based on the current planet and that's where I get a bit confused:
The wiki describes the wind force on each planet (Check the table "Planet" on
this page as follow. And this description matches the in-game Astropedia data:
Planet | Wind power |
Sylva | medium |
Desolo | low |
Calidor | low |
Vesania | high |
Novus | high |
Glacio | very high |
Atrox | low |
However in the
Wind Turbines page there is a table
Average Power rates for Wind Turbines on various Planets with the following data:
Planet | Avg % Time Active | Small Wind Turbine | Medium Wind Turbine | Large Wind Turbine | XL Wind Turbine |
Sylva | 48% | 0.72 U/s | 2.40 U/s | 4.80 U/s | 8.16 U/s |
Desolo | 25% | 0.375 U/s | 1.25 U/s | 2.50 U/s | 4.25 U/s |
Calidor | 40% | 0.60 U/s | 2.00 U/s | 4.00 U/s | 6.80 U/s |
Vesania | 56% | 0.84 U/s | 2.80 U/s | 5.60 U/s | 9.52 U/s |
Novus | 58% | 0.87 U/s | 2.90 U/s | 5.80 U/s | 9.86 U/s |
Glacio | 56% | 0.84 U/s | 2.80 U/s | 5.60 U/s | 9.52 U/s |
Atrox | 25% | 0.375 U/s | 1.25 U/s | 2.50 U/s | 4.25 U/s |
This table doesn't seem consistent with the planets description:
- How can Desolo have 25% of average active time and Calidor 40% when they are both low in wind power?
- How can Glacio have 56% avg. active time with a very high wind power when Novus has 58% avg. active time with high wind power?
Is there another source where to get these coefficients or does someone has empirical measurement confirming this second table?
(Note: The solar panels page does not seem to have the same problem has the multiplier is consistent with the planets descriptions) Thank you for your help and happy exploring!

2022.08.17 14:48 Adas171 Guys I need your help
So I want to buy astroneer for Nintendo switch, but wiki says you can't add/flatten terrain (there is no bind for it on wiki). These features feel kinda important to me, so I have to know if it is possible and/or how to do it. Thanks for help!

2022.07.16 22:10 Susanna-Saunders How to find the Obelisks on Calidor?
Hi All,
Quick Question on the Calidor 'They Belong In a Museum' Mission finding and blowing up the Obelisk for the 10 shards... I can't find the obelisks! I'm assuming they look like this:
https://astroneer.fandom.com/wiki/Obelisk But I'm damned if I can find them! I've looked extensively (several hours on each level) on the lower three levels of Calidor (the two brown earth ones and the blood red one at the base level by the core) and Nope - Just not there! I have extensively levels large areas of these levels so this might be an issue. Is there a bug with this mission atm or am I doing some really stupid? Many Thanks if you can help at all!
UPDATE: I have found the problem! It is AstroModLoader itself that is causing the glitch! Don't use the AstroModLoader app if you are doing the missions! Even loading the game (with NO mods selected) from the loader is sufficient to break the game.
