Hello there! I am currently taking care of a 9-month-old baby who seems to be heavily reliant on screens, particularly the show Cocomelon. I have been a nanny and babysitter for over 7 years and have worked with babies of all ages. However, I have never encountered a baby who is so difficult to soothe without the help of a screen. Whenever I try to turn off the TV, the baby cries so hard that I am worried he might hyperventilate.
Usually, I let babies play and learn safely while setting boundaries, which sometimes leads to frustration when they try to crawl, climb, or stand. However, I can easily redirect them with minimal or no fussing, and I can calm them down with simple pats on the back or by holding them while talking to them about the situation. Unfortunately, this particular baby does not respond well to these methods. He becomes more frustrated when I try to redirect him, and I am having a hard time calming him down.
The mother of the baby is working remotely from home and can hear him cry whenever he gets upset. She often messages me to put on Cocomelon to calm him down, even if I am trying to soothe him differently. I understand that she wants her baby to be happy, but I don't want to rely solely on screens to pacify him.
I am looking for some tips on how to soothe him without the TV and how to engage him in activities when the screen is off. I am struggling to keep his attention with toys and games, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is only a short-term job, and I don't want to spend the entire duration fighting with the baby all day. I'm absolutely fed up and would like to spend my time doing everything I can for the Ukrainian effort. The videos coming out of the flooded areas are causing something inside me to snap.
Some context first: my options for doing anything to help are somewhat limited. I've been living in various homeless shelters for the past few years and have just recently moved into my new home. I'm under monetary administration so I'm not really able to donate. I don't have many actual skills in anything, no degrees. I still suffer from health issues including a really bad back and mental health issues. I don't really have much of a social network.
If I had my way I would join the Ukrainian volunteer corps and help on the frontlines, but that's a real stretch, you need actual military training and experience for that of course.I don't see myself going anywhere near Ukraine until I at least get my life back together and learn some actual trades.
Of course this conflict has convinced me to pursue a possible military, humanitarian, security, or political careeeducation, I would like to make an effort of making sure something like this never happens to Ukraine, other countries, or people in general. Never again.

I eat 1 maybe 2 meals a day during the week. Definitely eating 2 meals on the weekend. I work early mornings and get off mid afternoon. For breakfast I'll eat 1-2 of the following: protein shake, Greek yogurt, banana, coffee(some times). For lunch I may eat a snack because I'll be home soon and will cook then. By then it's like a late lunch/early dinner

Hi all,
I am 25M looking to buy my first home and I am unsure whether I should withdraw from my Stock & Shares ISA to increase the deposit. The full details are:

• Single, no dependents
• Property price around £600k
• Savings £330k which includes £100k in S&S ISA
• Income is £150k annually
• Decision in principle from lender for max £425k loan amount

The two options I am weighing up is either:
A) Keeping £100k in S&S ISA and putting down a deposit of 200k,
B) Withdrawing £100k from S&S ISA and putting down a deposit of 300k.
I am leaning towards option A. My reasoning is because it will take me another 5 years to build up my S&S ISA to the same amount and I wouldn't want to lose out on all the possible tax free gains. I also think I won't be able to significantly reduce my mortgage rate (looking at 16 year mortgage at roughly 4.4% fixed for 2 years) if I were to increase my deposit.

I don't really feel anything at all. It's like my senses have gone numb, and my brain has totally run out of serotonin. Went to go hang out with my friends yesterday at senior sunset, and I was planning on waiting for everyone to leave and then drowning myself. My friend wanted me to leave with her, though. I went with them and I had a great time for the first time in a while talking with my friends, and I was happy for a couple of hours as soon as I got home it's like brain slowing stopped producing serotonin. I woke up in a cold sweat, and as I'm typing this, I'm not even connected to my body. It feels like I was hallow before, but it's like someone scooped out my organs and my soul while I was sleeping. Maybe it's because that was my brain's first time producing that much in a while. Anyways I don't want to feel like this anymore. This is worse than the sadness. I don't feel anything, just total emptiness. If this happens if every time I feel happy, does that mean I'll just get even more hallow if that's possible?

I have been with my husband for almost 7 years, married for 2.5. Prior to getting married my in-laws objected to our relationship. I have posted previously about this for further info.
Prior to being married we were looking for a house to buy, however, due to covid and 6 weeks between the wedding being agreed and the date, as well as my FIL saying that we should live at home for a bit we ended up moving in with my in-laws and my FILs 2 brothers.
I have been really unhappy with this set up, I was under the assumption this was temporary. However, a few weeks after being married my FIL asked if we could financially help him and we agreed. 2.5 years later nothing has happened, I asked please can you give us some clarity as I would like to move forward with my life.
My in-laws think that my husband and I should have spoke about the home situation prior to being married. I don’t understand why we would discuss his dads financial situation? If my husbands dad and brothers live together, I assumed they had a financial understanding between them. I didn’t think that I would be ask to help pay off their share of the property. His brother wants to leave and my FIL doesn’t want to sell the house.
I explained that it was unfair that this situation wasn’t disclosed to my husband before. He should have at the very least known and told me before we decided not to follow through with buying our own property. I think my FIL is totally being unreasonable, I didn’t discuss my families financial situation with my husband prior to marriage as it’s nothing to do with my husband. I also explained that due to them objecting to our marriage for 4 years we were more focused on getting married and didn’t really discuss our living arrangements in great detail. Naive in hindsight, I know. My FIL is unwilling to accept how their actions impacted the natural trajectory of our relationship. To be fair he is unwilling to accept they shouldn’t have treated me that way and just want me to accept it happened.
I don’t know if I’m just seeing it from a different perspective. It’s really bothering me.

I have a 5/2 home with 10 mattresses if you include cribs. I hire a very nice and helpful family owned cleaning service, literally a mom & pop. They’ve been very good for the most part. One time they forgot to bring out extra toilet paper from the locked supply closet and a guest complains, no problem we keep the key to the closet in a lock box and told the guests to help themselves. Mistakes happen.
Fast forward to last Fall. Slow season for us and we had large chunks of time blocked off for some projects we were doing. Long story short, since then I’ve happened to be at the property at least once in between every guest (of which there have only been like half a dozen), usually after cleaning. Every time I’ve found something they missed. Not really only little things, either, like not checking a nightstand drawer (which I’d still really prefer they do). More like not refilling the liquid soap (it was actually empty one time I went), not putting out hand towels or kitchen towels, putting someone else’s comforter on one of our beds, not replenishing TP (once there was zero in either bathroom), not replenishing paper towels, leaving used towels in the bathroom, etc. We also had them do a deep clean a month ago (~3.5x the cost of a typical turnover) and there are things it seems like they definitely didn’t do.
How do I address this with them without upsetting them? I have no intention of going separate ways with them, especially at the start of Summer. The problem is that if this keeps up during the busy season it will definitely be reflected in reviews. Another issue is that I was hoping to discuss some smaller things with them, too. Not really things they’re doing wrong, just small things I wish they would do. I was going to talk about a higher rate to start including these things, too, even though most take about 15 seconds. Actually setting out the bathmats I bought, checking drawers when you make the beds, etc. That post on here about a gun in the nightstand freaked me out a bit lol
I will take any advice or opinions you have. I’m not trying to be nit-picky but some of these things are unacceptable. TYIA
