2023.04.01 11:50 Kamstillalive Had my first trip yesterday, omg

People have told me about their trips on mushrooms before, and I have read stories, I tried to prepare myself as much as possible. But nothing could’ve truly prepared me for it. I see why people tell you to take shrooms before acid, psychedelics are a whole other territory than anything else.
I puked like 5 times from the nausea (ofc) and the seasickness from everything moving ALL THE TIME. Everything was so colorful, my friends faces were so distorted I genuinely couldn’t look at them cause I was scared. My feelings about the trip kept changing from “I love this!” To “I hate this, get me out of here” but we were also outside and the weather was bad and cold. And apparently I got a stronger dose than I thought. All my friends told me that they were surprised I did so well and didn’t bad trip.
At one point in the peak of my trip, I felt like my body wasn’t there anymore and neither were my thoughts or anything else. My body and my mind were the surroundings. My body was the trees and my thoughts was the wind, I came out of it kinda quickly though to check if I still had a body lol.
Overall it was good first trip. Although it got off to a rocky start, the second I came inside, everything was great. I really thought I could go on an adventure, and look at the world differently. But next time I’m definitely gonna start out inside, in a nicer setting. And maybe go outside if the weather isn’t shit.
Some of my other friends want to try mushrooms. Hell no. A few of them can handle it, probably. But I know one of them who is very eager to try, who would get overwhelmed and bad trip. Last time we took MDMA she bad tripped… it’s quite hard to bad trip on molly bro. And that’s a light psychedelic if you overdose.
Anyways, my friend is getting a grow kit. Can’t wait to trip again.

Ukraine marks liberation of Bucha. Ukraine’s armed forces already use Joint Direct Attack Munition. Putin signs new foreign policy doctrine.
Four European leaders visit Bucha on one-year anniversary of liberation
On March 31, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and leaders of Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Moldova visited Bucha to pay tribute to the victims of the Russian war crimes committed during the occupation of the city.
The visit marks one-year anniversary of Bucha’s liberation. President Zelenskyi, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and Moldovan President Maia Sandu visited the site of a mass grave near the church of Saint Andrew the Apostle where bodies of Bucha residents were found.
Ukraine already uses Joint Direct Attack Munition against Russia
Ukraine’s armed forces are already using Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force Command Colonel Yuriy Ihnat said.
“We are using JDAM,” Ihnat said on television. Ukrainian fighter aircraft employ the Western-made kits to conduct precision strikes against high priority targets, he added.
In December 2022, reports surfaced that the U.S. plans to send JDAM, a guidance tail kit that converts existing unguided free-fall bombs into accurate, adverse weather smart munitions to Ukraine.
JDAM is compatible with various types of aircraft. The munitions’ tail section contains an inertial navigational system and a global positioning system guidance control unit.
The U.S. has previously used JDAM technology for 907-kilogram conventional bombs, dropped from bombers and fighters.
Putin signs new foreign policy doctrine
Russian President Vladimir Putin told a Security Council meeting Friday that he signed a decree, approving Russia’s new foreign policy concept.
He said he had to amend major strategic documents following “serious changes” in the international arena, Russian media quoted him as saying. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov presented Putin with an updated foreign policy doctrine.
Lavrov said the start of what Moscow calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine had ushered in “revolutionary changes” in world affairs that now needed to be reflected in the concept. The document names the United States as the main threat to international stability and driver of an “anti-Russian line”. It outlines how Russia could take “symmetric and asymmetric measures in response to unfriendly actions against Russia”. Russia will seek to create “conditions for unfriendly states to abandon their hostile policy toward our country.” Russia will seek strategic partnership with China and India, the concept reads.

2023.04.01 11:41 RoilyZinco DAE feel unwell if they don't go outside at least once a day?

For some reason, since about 5 years ago, I started feeling as though my day was somehow incomplete if I didn't go outside at least once per day. Since then, these feelings have intensified to the point that I'll start feeling physically unwell if I stay inside all day. As crazy as it sounds, if I don't go outside, I'll start getting a headache that progressively gets worse the longer I stay inside.
And no, this has nothing to do with being on screens. There have been a few times where I've been unable to access the internet all day and I still got the exact same headache by staying inside, despite barely even glancing at a single screen.
Even if there's rough weather, I have to go outside at least once or I'll get that headache. Even if I already feel sick, I have to go outside at least once or I'll feel even worse. Hell, even during lockdown, when everyone was supposed to stay at home, I always went for a walk outside every single day because I simply had to.
So far, I haven't met a single other person who feels the same sickness. In fact, every single time I've told someone about this sickness I feel, they've looked at me as if I have two heads! Surely I can't be the only person in the world who feels this kind of thing, though.

2023.04.01 11:37 doppler07 2023 Australia Gp Qualifying Data Analysis

2023 Australia Gp Qualifying Data Analysis
Intro
With gloomy and unpredictable weather around the corner, the 2023 Australian GP Qualifying was set to throw some surprises. It was probably the most exciting qualifying session until now as the drivers struggled to put heat into the tires due to low ambient temperatures and traffic which made the times unpredictable. VER however left no turn ‘unturned’ and put it on the pole with a scorching 1.16.7 compared to a surprisingly fast time set by RUS at 1.16.9. The 3rd spot was a close fight between HAM and ALO with 0.035 sec between them. In this article let us have a look at the Quali Lap Analysis between VER and RUS and VER and ALO to see where the drivers found and lost time.
VER vs RUS

https://preview.redd.it/f0yfl2qht8ra1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=fba61cead63a2fe5934e850d071460db542f973d

The straight-line advantage of Red Bull compared to Mercedes is small for this lap, so they both start the lap pretty evenly matched.
  1. VER has a really good T1 and can pick up the throttle quickly while RUS has a minor correction which makes him lose time until T3.
  2. RUS has a strong SEC 2 and gains back time until the T11 where RUS has to brake earlier and cannot carry as much speed as VER into T11. T11 is a Red Bull dominant corner.
  3. Going into T13 RUS brakes later, carries a lot more speed into T13, and can carry that momentum into T14 (Brave Stuff, on the limit !!) while VER has a small correction on the throttle in T14. The last two corners are where RUS is made up all the time.
VER vs ALO

https://preview.redd.it/wyfsk2wit8ra1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc0c4293d55760761e65547618ca423c103d1a78

  1. VER starts with a straight-line pace advantage and gains time into 2nd phase of traction before every braking zone such as T1, T3, and T11 thanks to the efficiency of the Redbull
  2. Looking at Turn 3 you can see that VER can carry higher speed into the corners even though he brakes a bit earlier.
  3. T11 is the big differentiator, as can be seen in the delta. ALO has to brake much earlier and carry much less speed into T11 as compared to VER. VER can still get back on the throttle at about the same time as ALO. VER also reaches even higher speeds nearing T12 and carries more min speed into T12, such is the aero efficiency advantage of the Redbull.
Top Speed
Below is a summary of the top speed for all the drivers.
  1. The difference between VER and ALO was 7km/hr which is what is hurting Aston Martin in overall lap time.
  2. Merc has closed up the gap to Red Bull in terms of top speed difference as compared to other races.
  3. Williams's top-speed setup is what gave them the edge over the rest of the midfield.

2023.04.01 11:35 LucioIsMineBitches Marinette is not a normal girl with a normal life...

Marinette room is big for a Parisian appartement. If you want to have some informations on prices in Paris, here's this article : https://realadvisor.fen/property-prices/city-paris

Her wiki page says the 21th but there is only 20 arrondissements. If it's was in real life, Marinette would live in the 5th arrondissement of Paris which is an expensive one.

The average salary in the 5th arrondissement is around 36 083 euros per year which is 39224,03 dollars. The national average salary is about 20 590 euros per year which is about 22382,36 dollars.

So to begin with, Marinette's family is very comfortable, they earn way more than an average french people.

Plus you also have to look at the hobbies. Marinette is a designer, she likes to sew. Sewing is probably one of the most expensive hobby.

I know it, because I'm sewing too (I'm not living in Paris) and I can tell you that it's everything but not cheap.

Fabric is expensive. Meters and meters of good and nice quality fabric are expensive outside of the Capital, so in Paris, it's can only be more expensive.

A good starting sewing machine is almost 100-200 euros (107-218 dollars). Then you also need needles, thread, pins, ruler, markers...

Oh and I forgot, Marinette has a dummy in her room. It's around 130-150 euros for a very basic one.

Not to mention, you have to have space for sewing. To cut fabric, you need place. Square meters are very expensive in Paris, if she have the entire sewing materials and sew with no problems, she is probably not "average" girl.

Think about it, the girl has a freaking dummy in her bedroom. I'm living in countryside and even in my room who is nice, I can't fit one.

She has a place to do makeup in her own bedroom, a sort of sofa (this kind of things are very expensive), multiples carpets... And with all of this, not even a closet for clothes. She doesn't have a closet in her bedroom when she is supposed to be a stylist...

There isn't a single delinquent in her school. Everyone is nice and kind except for Chloé and Lila who are the mean girls but otherwise, everything is perfect... The school is always proper and clean... There's isn't a single teenager smoking or trying to sell drugs...

Her best friend have a very popular blog around Paris who is watched by thousands of people, so she is an influencer who doesn't even need to show her boobs to have views which is very very rare. (Because let's be honest, most famous females influencer tend to show some cleavage or attributes to gain some followers.)

Nino is a DJ at a very young age who already have a DJ set... But at least a DJ set is still less expensive than Marinette's sewing hobby. I would even argue that Nino is the most normal dude of the entire class, which is probably why he isn't appreciated.

Chloe is the daughter of the mayor, she's rich and spoiled...
Sabrina is the daughter of the police "chief" because Roger is the main police officer in the episode, so he isn't a simple policeman. And she hangs out with a rich chick (although we can argue that she is being abused by Chloe).
Adrien is the son of one of the most famous fashion designer of Paris. Also rich and privileged.
Juleka is the daughter of a famous rockstar...
Alix's dad owns the Louvre Museum, just that...
Max created a smart IA robot who can move and thinks on it owns to the point of being able to become akumatized like a real senti-being. If he isn't the son of a couple of robotics engineers, I no longer understand anything.
Kim is friend with a nerd like Max... Usually, jocks doesn't give a fck about nerds and if this school is an elitist one, that's mean Kim parents are rich enough to enroll him in this institution, because Kim is a monkey brain and it's probably not his grades who helped him to get inside the school.
Rose had a date with a Prince from another country. Oh and she is also the rock singer of their band, very normal for sure...
Zoe lived in New york and speaks french perfectly... Half daughter of a rich model celebrity (Audrey)... Very normal...
Nathaniel is a mangaka at already such a young age... But okay, at least it's not too unbelievable.
Lila is a liar for sure, but for some reason, she has 3 moms, have been in different schools under different identities and she has a basements with wigs and costumes... Very normal indeed...

I would say that Nino, Mylene, Ivan and Nathaniel are the most "normal" persons in their class, which may be the reason of why they are underrated. They are "too normal" compared to the rest.

Not to mention that they can somehow privatize an entire football field to play there as in the Penalteam episode... Like how is that supposed to be "average" and "normal"?

It's like Emily in Paris, I'm amazed at how these kind of shows are portraying an "average" representation of the french society.

People in these shows, never have money problems, live in perfectly clean areas, never have daily life problems such as late common transports or bad weather...

Everyone is handsome, every place is amazing... There are almost no strikes.

I thought that my country was known for it's strikes and protests but in this show, the only protests we have is Mega leech for some trees and a park.

In both show, the Paris who is described is the rich Paris, the one for the rich people and the elitist. Marinette is definitely not a normal girl, she is a rich parisian girl who is lucky to live in the best places of Paris which is not the case for lot of parisians.

For those of you who don’t have cable or any other love TV service, how do you keep up with live weather info without having access to those live channels? Is there some way to live stream that I’m missing? Going off of WBIR’s tweets was fine until I saw there was potential rotation near Kingston, then I just felt stupidly unprepared as I refreshed the feed and waited for updates.

2023.04.01 11:33 Markyyyhh "Unable to process the image"-error is driving me nuts with GR IIIx

I'm constantly getting this error message when taking pictures, it have appeared from time to time before and it has reached the point where it's messing up some of my shots and opportunities when trying to shoot something more "candid". I'm only speculating but it seems to appear especially when shooting outside in slightly colder temperatures but recently it have happened in indoors as well. I have tried several different SD-cards so that shouldn't be the problem.
Could there be any solution for this or should I just leave IIIx home when it's getting cold? GR II works fine no matter of the weather.

2023.04.01 11:29 john_david_weddings The Art Of Wedding Photography

The Art Of Wedding Photography
John Davif Weddings

What Makes a Great Wedding Photographer?

Wedding photography is a unique art form that requires a specific set of skills to create truly stunning photographs. As a wedding photographer, I have come to understand the qualities that make a great wedding photographer. In this blog post, I'll share my thoughts on what makes a great Wedding Photographer Austin Texas and how to find the perfect photographer for your big day.
Technical Skills and Storytelling
A great wedding photographer should have a strong understanding of the technical aspects of photography, including exposure, composition, and lighting. But technical skills alone aren't enough to capture the emotions and moments that make each wedding unique. A great wedding photographer must also be an excellent storyteller, able to capture the essence of the day and tell a love story through their images.
Building a Relationship with the Couple
One of the most important things a wedding photographer can do is build a relationship with the couple they are working with. By taking the time to get to know the couple, their story, and their vision for their wedding day, a photographer can better understand what is important to them and tailor their approach to capturing the day accordingly. Building a relationship with the couple also helps the couple feel more comfortable in front of the camera, resulting in more natural and authentic photographs.
Flexibility and Adaptability
Weddings are unpredictable events, and a wedding photographer must be able to adjust to changing circumstances, unexpected weather, and other challenges that may arise. A good photographer will also be able to work well under pressure, remaining calm and focused even in high-stress situations. By being flexible and adaptable, a wedding photographer can ensure that they capture the key moments of the day, no matter what challenges may arise.
Finding the Perfect Wedding Photographer
When it comes to finding the perfect wedding photographer, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, it's important to find a photographer whose style resonates with you. Different photographers specialize in different styles, including traditional posed portraits and candid, photojournalistic approaches. Take the time to look at different photographers' portfolios to get a sense of their style and see if it matches your vision for your wedding day.
Experience is another crucial factor to consider when choosing a wedding photographer. Weddings are complex events, and it's important to find a photographer who has experience shooting weddings. Experienced photographers will have a better understanding of how to navigate the various challenges that can arise during a wedding and will be better equipped to capture the key moments of the day.
Price is also an important consideration. It's essential to find a photographer whose fees fit within your budget while also ensuring that you're getting high-quality work. Remember, wedding photography is an investment in your memories of your wedding day, and it's worth investing in a photographer whose work you love.
In Conclusion
Choosing the Austin Photographer is a critical decision that can impact the memories you have of your wedding day. By looking for a photographer with strong technical skills, excellent storytelling abilities, and a flexible approach, you can be sure that you'll have beautiful, meaningful photographs that capture the essence of your special day. With a little research and some careful consideration, you can find the perfect photographer to capture your love story in photographs that will last a lifetime.

2023.04.01 11:28 stlatos Xoanon, Ymir, Zan, Zas, Zeus

Kronos was legendary for stupidity in ancient Greece. This goes back to Zeus being able to fool him so easily (and usurp him) with the most basic of tricks. Across the world, tricksters and trickster gods almost always use very simple ploys, likely going back to ancient times when complex plans were not needed in simpler society. Of course, Zeus was also fooled by a childist trick of Prometheus’ later. In addition, Kronos mutilating his father Ouranos was seen as a lack of filial piety. The need to separate Earth and Sky (his parents) was not central to his story, unlike in the very similar version from Polynesia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rangi_and_Papa . The “human” drama is both is also prominent. Though some basic features might be the same when describing how the world was created by any similar group of primitive people, as thinking up a human-like equivalent to non-human aspects of the world can only go so far in its variations, I think these correspondences are very great, and a set of similar shared myths has been taken as evidence of retention of an original human group of myths. Witzel has compiled many in papers like https://www.academia.edu/43690573/Water_in_Mythology though I don’t agree with his conclusions in regard to the great length of time separating them all. Many of these myths have alternate forms even within a single culture. Since various versions of most Greek myths exist, it’s not clear if the average Greek in ancient times thought Kronos was good or bad, or his deeds justified. Tales of gods often portray them as good or bad as needed for the plot of the story.

Kronos mutilated his father to create a habitable earth (there was no room between Earth and Sky when his parents were joined). The similarity of the myth of how Odin killed Ymir, forming the world from his body, would make Odin and Ymir father and son (since very little is said about his father). This basic idea is not new, but its implications should be followed to their logical conclusion. The three generations of gods (Ymir, Odin, Thor vs. Ouranos, Kronos, Zeus) match well, and the use of lightning by the youngest seems to connect at least them. They could also have once been united by the body parts they each lost: genitals, eye, hand. Though all matches are not seen in attested myths, the story behind Odysseus tricking the Cyclops, involving an eye, is clearly older (with matches in many myths) and could have once been the same as Zeus tricking Kronos. Since the Sun & Moon are sometimes created by plucking out the eyes of a god or giant, if Hera was the Moon (and thus equivalent to the older Artemis, as Zeus seems to be the older Apollo) this would fit. Tyr’s name is from the same root as Zeus’ (*deiw- \ *dyew-) and he could have been Thor under another name (since ‘thunder’ is not original); as he lost a hand to Fenrir so might Zeus have lost one fighting Typhon. This goes back to PIE as seen in the Celtic Nuada Airgetlám. The truth of this probably will only come out from comparing all IE myths about these figures.

Even if these were once found in Greek myths, since some traditions explicitly rejected imperfections in the gods they may have been “edited” out at times, or merely lost like any variant of a tale could be. For example, the Tomb of Zeus in Crete was said to show that all Cretans were liars, since Zeus could never die. Influences from other cultures could have also hid some things. Even differences among the nations of the Greeks were different; Dorians called Zeus Zan, and this was said to be the name found on his tomb. Anothe name of his might have been Zas (if Pherecydes of Syros did not make this up, or merge two names together https://www.reddit.com/mythology/comments/11snv5p/unexpected_vast_wings/ ). Doric Zā́n ‘Zeus’ is not a version of Greek *dye:m > *dze:n(-); this dialect kept long a and e separate. The Hesychian gloss hēgemonídes : zanídes shows that (however odd it may seem) older *-a:gemo- > -a:- was possible in dialects that weakened and lost multiple consonants between vowels. This would allow PIE *?sahgemo:n > G. hēgéomai ‘lead/rule’, hēgemṓn ‘leadechief’, fem. hēgemonís; Doric *?sāgemōn > *sāgevōn > Doric Zā́n ‘Zeus’ (who is the chief of the gods, and other epithets clearly reflect this.

The basics of the three generations fit. However, both sets of myths have two groups of gods that were once in conflict: Vanir and Titans. Both have been seen as representing a separate mythology of a conquered people being absorbed (with the new versions showing the victory of the gods of the conquerors). If a second usurpation was added later to reflect this, it would be unclear how many generations of gods existed in PIE myths. If these were similar to Egyptian details https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atum then Kronos would represent Air or Wind (and his wife Rhea is thought to be from rhew- < *srew- ‘flow’, maybe indicating RiveSea). It’s not certain what the oldest form was, but logically there would have to be (if IE fits into this) a sequence like: Earth and Sky give birth to Wind and Water who give birth to Sun and Moon. This would create the apparently eternal features of the natural world. Gods of important aspects like Fire or Craft are often the children of these gods (sometimes in an odd way, like Athena from the head of Zeus, or Loki as an adopted son).

There doesn’t seem to be anything non-Germanic in the Vanir’s names, but the Titans’ don’t always look Greek. Krónos has been connected to chrono- ‘time’ in recent and ancient theories, without any specific evidence. Iapetós, brother of Krónos, has usually been seen as non-Greek. However, Duccio Chiapello has given his theory that *Dyeus > *Yous > jo-u & *djewja > *jowja in the Linear A goddess jo-wa-ja https://www.academia.edu/94005024/The_Libation_tables_of_%CE%A4%CE%AC%CE%BD_%E1%BD%88%CF%81%CE%AC%CF%84%CF%81%CE%B9%CE%BF%CF%82_Remarks_on_the_secondary_formula_of_the_dedicatory_inscriptions_in_Linear_A . Following this logic, since at least one Greek dialect had *dj- > *j-, it makes sense to look for evidence of this in known words. Finding matches serves as confirmation of his work. Modern Cretan tends to change the prefix dia- > gia- (a spelling for dja- > ja-), and apparently other dj- > j-, so seeing this in a system from Crete is strong support. Since Arc. Diápatos / Lápatos ‘(name of a month)’, dat. Zapatéai ‘a god, Poseidon?’, come from or are related to diapatéō ‘tread through’ it is hard to separate a god named Zapatéa- / *Diapatéa- from Iapetós. Indeed, it’s likely older *pro-diapateō > *pro-djaptjō ‘tread/trample through / rush forward’ gave proïáptō ‘rush / send forth’. Neither of these words has a known source, if not from dia-. It would show *e > *i , *iV > *jV as in LA. Slightly different paths are possible, if not exact matches.

Other features known from Crete could show the same type of connections. If Krónos was a name from the same people who wrote in LA, then the only source (I think this has been proposed before) is *ksówano- ‘carving’ > xóanon ‘(wooden) image/statue (of a god) / idol’, *ksówano- > *kxówano- > *kRówano- > Krónos (with Cretan *ks > *kx / *kR > *xR > rh- in *ksustom > xustón ‘spealance’, Cretan rhustón ‘spear’ vs. kr / k(*x) in *ksnó:data: > *ksú:vata: > *kxü:vata: > *kxü:vata: >> Egyptian kft’ïw ‘Crete’, *krü:vata: > *kri:ata: > *kre:ata: > Greek Krḗtē ‘Crete’ (optionality seen in *ksnó:datya > *ksu:vatsa / ku-zu-wa-sa)). The xóanon was usually an older cruder carving of the god than modern statues (if any were found in a particular temple), seen as more holy. The even older holy stones (which could even be said to be the stone swallowed by Kronos in place of Zeus), were yet more important.

Together, this shows that the Greeks who lived in Greece before they were invaded by still more Greeks had gods whose names remained but were said to have been conquered by those with the names of the newly-come Greeks (Titans lost). Iapetós, brother of Krónos; Poseidon, brother of Zeus. The stories, much like the Iliad, probably were slight variations of older myths, with a few names and details changed, to reflect the political situation after conquest. For example, there are many IE stories of gods who turned on their fathers, but giving the name of a god formerly worshipped to the defeated god served to show why the conquerors’ gods were now superior and now deserved to be worshipped in place of the previous ones.

2023.04.01 11:15 EngLearnerAibek What does "open up" mean:

When you need to cool off, your blood vessels open up, letting blood flow to your arms and legs so heat can escape through your skin.
Context: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGHRz8wpj3E
Whether you’re planning your next vacation, or you just want to know how many layers you’ll need to put on in the morning, you probably check the weather forecast pretty often. But you should know, before you go out with that extra jacket, that the temperature might not be the best measure of what it actually feels like outside. Humidity is important, too, which is why you might sometimes think the forecasters must have been wrong, because it’s definitely about ten degrees hotter right now and you’re covered in sweaty grossness. Your body’s built-in thermostat likes to keep your internal temperature at a steady 37 degrees Celsius so that all of your enzymes can do what they’re supposed to do... you know … keeping you alive. That's the temperature they like. When you need to cool off, your blood vessels open up, letting blood flow to your arms and legs so heat can escape through your skin. Your sweat glands also start to produce moisture, which takes a bunch of heat with it when it evaporates.

2023.04.01 11:07 Philip19967 How One Canadian AI Company is Driving Digital Transformation in Retail

Vancouver-based Fobi AI is making it easy for operators to keep pace with consumer demands and future-proof their businesses through digital transformation.

Many retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) businesses want to connect, enhance, and mobilize their existing, often antiquated, infrastructure through artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and analytics. But most of them don’t know where to start. With over five years as a market leader in automation and mobile wallet technology, Vancouver-based Fobi AI has the know-how and does all the heavy lifting so that companies can focus on what matters most: their business.

Smart data in motion

Fobi has proven experience globally and is working with Canadian companies to change the way they do business. With headquarters in five countries and international operations spanning over 150 nations, Fobi’s dynamic solutions are far-reaching, delivering real-time applications, data-driven insights, and personalized engagement across several global retail use cases, including digital loyalty and membership, coupons, digital ticketing, retail giveaways, and digital age and ID verification.
“Retailers don’t need more data—they need ways to unlock, leverage, and monetize their data,” says Rob Anson, CEO and Chairman at Fobi AI. “We can take an organization’s data, including its operations and customer interactions, ingest it, and with the click of a button, create value with all that data through AI.”
For most companies, data is cumbersome, expensive to manage, and often challenging to make sense of. Machine learning automates the manual steps that people would normally have to do to complete extensive data analysis to inform their business decisions. The secret sauce for Fobi is its powerful Fobi Data Exchange (FDX), a unified insights platform that automates the ingestion, aggregation, and monetization of point-of-sale data in real-time. These actionable insights help businesses make smarter, more optimized decisions and develop more targeted, personalized marketing campaigns.

AI for all

Complex data is connected and combined from multiple disparate sources, such as point-of-sale, online, offline, and third-party transaction systems, to which the Fobi Data Exchange can then provide real-time analytics and insights that unlock powerful retailer-to-customer interactions. Segmented on an overall business level or for each store, retailers can visualize these analytics in a customizable dashboard and subsequently build forecasting and predictive models through machine learning algorithms.
This transformational technology isn’t just for the e-commerce giants. Fobi is levelling the playing field by giving brick-and-mortar shops access to the same tools and competitive advantage. Businesses of all sizes can now use AI and automation to make data-driven decisions that deliver integrated, omnichannel shopping experiences for customers everywhere.
“People don’t fear AI for what it is. They’re often afraid of change,” says Anson. “But when businesses see what we can do and realize our solutions are plug-and-play, they can appreciate the value of AI and the results that it brings to the table.”

Driving decisions and revenue

Many companies, big and small, don’t know how to leverage their data. But businesses are realizing that by utilizing AI and leveraging it to their advantage, they can unlock even more opportunities to create added value with their data. Being able to effectively segment, action, and monetize data through the wallet pass means that retailers can now deliver personalized shopping experiences at the consumer level, ultimately leading to increased recency, frequency, and wallet share.
“Retailers can connect new promotions based on insights from past purchase behaviour, which is one of the most important indicators for retailers to predict and influence future customer behaviour,” says Anson. “This leads to more tailored and targeted loyalty and membership programs. And the same aggregated data and insights can be anonymized and resold to large third-party data aggregators which opens up a brand new revenue stream.”
Personalization and convenience are everything for consumers today, and this puts pressure on retailers to understand their customers’ wants and needs. But currently, there’s little awareness of the full customer journey—what customers bought in the past, how they redeem promotions, and how much they spend.
Anson uses a professional sports team as an example. What does the team know about a season ticket holder? Aside from their contact information, today, customer lifetime value (CLV) in the sports and entertainment industry is largely based on how long fans have had their tickets, how much they’ve spent for those seats, and the value of those seats over time. But what if the team actively had real-time insight into the person’s food and beverage preferences and spend, merchandise purchases, or how they travel to games?
Through AI and automation, Fobi delivers the interoperability to unify data across the team’s disparate systems, such as parking, tickets, merchandise, food and beverage, and more, to get a better understanding of fans at a transactional level. As a result, these insights can help businesses drive enhanced customer engagement by sending hyper-personalized offers and recommendations that are more likely to resonate and convert at the till. Personalization is also proven to drive increased visits, sales, and brand affinity with better targeted marketing campaigns and more cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
