2023.06.07 22:14 OpiumVision Employment contract or civil contract? (B2B)
For context, I'm a 22 years old foreign student living in Poland. I'm from a country in the European Union and I already got my PESEL number some time ago. I was looking for a summer job, and I received an offer that would fit perfectly what I'm looking for, since the contract would be only 3 months long. The pay would be between 7000-7500 brutto per month, with eventual bonuses and all the usual benefits (medcare, multisport card ecc.) I have a couple questions; firstly, since I'm under 26 would I be completely exempted from taxes? Also, I have the opportunity to choose between an employment contract or a civil contract (B2B). Considering that my Polish is A1 level (the job doesn't require any other language than English) and I have no idea of how eventual taxes and so on work in Poland, which type of contract would you suggest me to choose?

2023.06.07 22:11 HelloLurkerHere One night in June of 1976 over a million and half people in Canary Islands (Spain) witnessed 'a gigantic explosion of light' in the sky. It became part of the local UFO narrative almost immediately. Declassified documents in 1994 hinted, however, at an earthly origin, a 2001 article confirmed it.
Background Canary Islands
is a Spanish archipelago of volcanic nature located in the eastern Atlantic ocean, just west of southern Morocco. The chain of islands extends for approximately 490 kilometers (300 miles).
Canary Islands is both geologically and climatologically almost identical to Hawaii, and as such, international tourism has been the main pillar of its economy since the 1960s. The Event
At around 10:15 PM of June 22nd, 1976, emergency services in all the main seven islands received a flood of calls, with people reporting having seen a strange and frightening phenomenon taking place in the night sky. Most of these callers described what they were seeing as 'a gigantic explosion of light'
or 'a massive ball of fire'
, and all of them said the phenomenon seemed to be taking place somewhere far in the west. These accounts were quickly confirmed true by local authorities, since the 'explosion of light' in question shone for several minutes before dissipating.
Many witnesses also added having seen one or two much smaller red lights moving strangely before the 'explosion' took place -rising from the horizon or from behind the mountains at very high speed, although others added that the lights flew following 'a zig-zag trajectory'.
No sound was heard or reported regarding the phenomenon, and no consequences seemed to follow except for a frightened population.
A foreign tourist vacationing in the island of Gran Canaria took the only known legit picture available of the phenomenon
, from the balcony of his hotel room in Maspalomas. Here
you can see a bigger version of the picture with enhanced contrast. Here's a drawing extracted from an official report made by the Spanish Air Force.
The drawing depicts a description of the event made with the information gathered from witnesses reports in the western coast of Gran Canaria. The mountains in the drawing are a depiction of the silhouette of Tenerife, the island immediately west of Gran Canaria. In order to understand the extreme magnitude of the 'explosion of light', please take into account that Tenerife is 70 kilometers (44 miles) away and its tallest peak -Mount Teide, which is in fact Spain's tallest mountain- is 3,718 meters tall (12,198 feet). Here's a real picture of the landscape
depicted in the drawing, for a better perspective.
Hong Kong's bulk carrier vessel Osaka Bay
was sailing from Capetown (South Africa) to Southampton (United Kingdom). The event took place when she was some 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of the island of La Gomera
, and her crew did also witness the phenomenon. Here's a drawing made out of their witness reports.
The crew of the Spanish Navy's corvette Atrevida (F-61)
observed the phenomenon as she was sailing just south of the island of Fuerteventura
. Her captain's account of the event; "At 22:27 local time of June 22nd it was seen, for the first time, a bright light of an intense bluish yellow color, taking off and rising in altitude towards our position... Once it reached certain height (15º-18º) it stood still, turning its light projection and showing its light source. It remained like that for approximately two minutes, before bursting into a large circle of bright bluish yellow light that remained in that position for forty minutes even after the original preceding phenomenon had faded away. Two minutes later the light source split, its lower half being smaller and standing in the middle of the circle of light, turning into a bluish cloud as the split half that had originated this bluish mass faded away. The upper half gained altitude while describing a fast but irregular spiraling trajectory, vanishing afterwards. None of these movements had any effect whatsoever on the initial circle of light, whose features remained the same, partially illuminating land and sea, which leads to believe that it wasn't an object far in the distance, but rather close".
Here's the translation of local newspaper excerpts detailing the event; "It was spotted between 10:15 and 10:30 PM and, according to one of our journalists who has his residence at Valle de Aridane (La Palma island), at that time he observed something that looked like a rocket emerging from the sea and flying towards El Time peak shining with an intense red light. The same phenomenon was spotted in Tazacorte (in La Palma island too). The ferry Villa de Agaete, sailing from Las Palmas, could observe a great shining at exactly 10:20 PM, shortly before docking in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The shining, which lasted about five minutes, appeared like a rocket that had come out of the sea". - El Día (June 23rd, 1976) "Last night, at around half past ten, a strange object was spotted from several points of our region, especially in the areas of Gáldar and Telde (Gran Canaria), where most phone calls we received in that regard were from. Our callers explained to us that it was a round object that grew massively in size as it rose, clearly defined before it began to fade. The aforementioned phenomenon began as a couple of red objects that moved in zig-zag, forming into some sort of spiral whose lower half ended in three clearly differentiated but overlaying stripes with some degree of separation between them. They were of a very bright red color and faded gradually. On top of these stripes there was what looked like two powerful blue focal lights, which began to diminish in intensity too before turning into a thin haze afterwards". - La Provincia (June 23rd, 1976)
Thanks to these accounts and description of the events, calculations could be made in order to ascertain the phenomenon's origins. At the moment of its beginning (which many witnesses described as a rocket taking off) the sun was already 13.7º under the horizon and its azimuth angle was 307º (northwest). Setting a hypothetical POV in the geographical center of the archipelago (28.50º N, 15.75º W, just north of Gran Canaria, it was calculated that during it's first phase (the 'rocket lights') the phenomenon was located some 762 kilometers (473 miles) straight west, at an approximate altitude of 46 kilometers (28 miles). By the end of its final phase (the 'explosion of light') it had traveled to a point located at around 1,062 kilometers (662 miles) west and had risen to a final altitude of 90 kilometers (56 miles).
These calculations became a very important piece of data, we'll get back to them later.
The UFO/Aliens narrative (AKA the press cherry-picks the statement of one particularly imaginative witness in order to sell a story of very questionable credibility)
Being the 1970s, almost immediately certain sectors of the press began talking about UFO -and subsequently about aliens, even though there was no further evidence to suggest such thing. The local authorities (the Army especially) focused their efforts into reassuring the population that there was nothing to fear, while at the same time gathering all the information they could gather in order to investigate the phenomenon.
In June of 1994, exactly eighteen years after that night, the Spanish Army declassified the 107-pages long investigation report of what by then it had been baptized as the "OVNI de Canarias 22/06/1976" ("Canary Islands' 06/22/1976 UFO"). Back then very few people in Spain had internet access, and as such the release of these documents went unnoticed for most people. However, many journalists rushed to get a copy of the report, and many of these worked for UFO/paranormal magazines of dubious scientific accuracy. And, aware of the kind of reaction they wanted to generate from the public they target, they focused in just one part of the report; Dr. Padrón's story.
Francisco Julio Padrón León (who passed away in 2013) was a general practitioner that lived and had his office in the rural municipality of Gáldar, which is located precisely in the northwestern part of the island of Gran Canaria (and precisely, where a lot of people reported witnessing the phenomenon. Unlike most witnessed, however, Padrón told Spanish authorities a much more extravagant version of the events.
That night he had been called in person to check on a local patient at her home, and the doctor had called a taxi in order to reach the patient's residence; Padrón lived in the town of Guía
, and the patient lived at a small parish some 10 kilometers away (6 miles) named Las Rosas
. Padrón, his companion and the taxi driver claimed having observed the phenomenon when the car was covering the last two kilometers of the route (at that point, a very narrow and barely paved rural road). Or more specifically, Padrón and the taxi driver claimed having bumped into it; because, according to the statement, at that moment the car's headlights illuminated a sphere that was floating right in front of them. The Padrón and the taxi driver described it as measuring some 30 meters (98 feet), slightly bright and slightly translucent. They (the doctor, especially) described seeing two humanoid entities inside the sphere, surrounded by what looked to be inner aluminum structural parts of the sphere. These figures were, per their statements, between 2.5 and 3 meters tall (8'2" to 9'10"), one taller than the other, and they were dressed in red skin-tight suits. Padrón claimed that these beings stood facing each other, apparently interacting among them but didn't seem to notice his or the taxi driver's presence. It then began to grow in size until (his words) "becoming as big as a 20-story building"
and began ascending. At this point of his statement he said he went to check on her patient, after which he told all people present at the patients' home, inviting everyone to go outside and check by themselves what he claimed he had seen. By the time everyone joined Dr. Padrón to watch, the sphere was already very big, standing high in the sky and then it flew away at extreme speed ("faster than any aircraft I've seen in my life"
, Padrón said in the report) leaving a trail of blue smoke behind before vanishing in the distance, towards Tenerife island.
In his individual report, the taxi driver made just a very skimp corroboration of Padrón's statement, omitting most details of his version of the phenomenon. It was just a few sentences long. The taxi driver was a man in his sixties (and wore glasses) of very little formal education -in fact, his preliminary handwritten statement had to be redacted to correct numerous grammar and spelling mistakes.
As for the companion (a relative of the patient, who was traveling in the backseat), this man only describes seeing "intense bright light everywhere"
and noticing "both the doctor and the taxi driver's agitation"
. He claimed the amount of light, plus the fact that by sitting in the backseat the taxi driver and the doctor's bodies blocked his view, hadn't allowed him to see what Padrón claimed having witnessed.
The declassified document contained many more witness reports gathered from the same area, but none of them matched Dr. Padrón's story about a sphere with two humanoids figures in it; every other description -most of them provided by locals- mentions the same enormous disc of light in the west night sky. A car mechanic and his wife described it as "a car's headlight thrice as large as the full moon"
. A school teacher mentioned having seen it from his house's window through a pair of binoculars when it began to fade, noticing its "fog-like appearance, and the night stars could be seen through"
, and mentioning what looked like a couple of bluish beams inside. A farmer explained in his statement that it looked like "a fire spot"
, he too mentioned seeing "two blue lines"
in it. Not even the sick woman Padrón had come to provide medical attention to nor her relatives confirmed the Dr.'s description of the phenomenon, matching instead everyone else's.
That didn't stop the journalists working for UFO/paranormal-themed magazines or even some journalists working for reputable newspapers from disregarding all these credible witnesses and instead focusing on the most outlandish one; Dr. Padrón. In summer of 1994, several of these Spanish magazines like Enigmas, Año Cero
or Más Allá
rushed to publish a drawing depicting Padrón's description of the 'humanoid figures dressed in red' in their articles, not only making absolutely no mention of any of the other witnesses but also claimed that the propulsion system of the alleged 'alien spacecraft' had scorched a nearby onion field -the area is full of that type of crops- and that posterior chemical analysis of the scorched terrain had yielded wildly unusual results. We'll come back to this point later. Sketch depicting Padrón's (unique, literally) description of the event. Yes, someone from the Army - more specifically from the Air Force- was tasked with sitting down next to this guy and spending a good deal of time drawing whatever ludicrous thing Padrón felt like coming up with.
Something worth mentioning; these publications made heavy emphasis on Padrón's education -he was a GP, after all. As in, as extraordinary as his claims were, these were being made by a man of a high level of education, intelligent and therefore (in the eyes of many) automatically worth of credibility. In fact, the patient's relative traveling in the taxi's backseat -a farmhand that had never received formal schooling and was illiterate- said in his witness report that one of the reasons why he did not question Padrón's statement was precisely the abysmal difference in education between him and the doctor, and kind of assumed that if an educated man like Padrón said that such thing had indeed happened, then it must have been true.
A local newspaper interviewed Dr. Padrón shortly after the documents were declassified. And by then, eighteen years after that night, Padrón added some more details to his already bizarre account, providing these journalists with something that wouldn't have been out of place in an episode of The X-Files (which back in 1994 had begun to be broadcasted in Spain, with significant success). Back in 1976 Padrón had already added in his statement that he did not feel fear but 'a strange sense of wellbeing and excitement' in his encounter with the alleged spacecraft; now he was also saying that these beings -which never communicated with him in any way, per his account- had not only the ability to erase anyone's memories off their brains, but they also can "make you see whatever they want you to do for months or years, replacing an 'energy' [his word] in your brain"
. If these statements weren't absurd enough, Dr. Padrón warned the journalists about not taking him seriously, because in the last three years he "had observed that anyone who had been skeptical of my statements and hurt my credibility in public has passed away within six or seven months, all of them to cancer, eight people in total so far".
Although the documents that included the description of his ludicrous story hadn't been declassified until 1994, ever since 1976 many journalists had managed to get in touch with Padrón and hear his story -the doctor himself wasn't exactly quiet about it either -and some of these are allegedly the cancer victims Padrón would've been referring to. There's no way to check the veracity of that, since the only source of that statement was Padrón himself.
Between 1976 and 1994 the doctor's story circulated in a somewhat obscure manner, being referred to in some UFO articles here and there -and adding their own artistic depictions of his outlandish story
. Padrón was already telling any 'paranormal' journalist willing to listen about the scorched onion field. Turned out, back in June of 1976 a farmer in the municipality of Guía did indeed notice an area in one of his onion crops that seemed to have been burned, but that man had specified that that hadn't happened until the morning of June 24th, a good day and half after Padrón's alleged 'alien encounter'. What is more, although the cause of these burns couldn't be ascertained, they were indistinguishable from fire damage. To this day it's thought that these burnt onion plants were nothing but the result of vandalism or a prank. Some UFO skepticism authors have raised the possibility of the doctor himself being responsible. Picture of one of the many onion fields in Guía and Gáldar. To this day, Dr. Padrón's 'scorched onion field' remains a running joke among the older residents in these municipalities.
At the time Padrón even managed, out of sheer insistence, to get that soil tested. Surprisingly to no one, all chemical, physical and radiological analyses performed yielded no unusual results. The sampling and testing was conducted by Hungarian-Spanish physician Alejandro Carlos de Gyorko-Gyorkos, who at the time was curious about paranormal phenomena and had interviewed Padrón many times in 1976. According to a journalist for Naukas (A Spanish online science and technology magazine that specializes in skepticism and debunking of pseudoscience), in 1992 Gyorko-Gyorkos described Padrón as a man that "interprets everything he comes up with as real"
. By 1994 Padrón was also claiming that the Spanish Air Force had threatened him with legal action to silence him, and that Gyorko-Gyorkos was a man whose "ethics he'd rather not talk about"
. Padrón had never mentioned these alleged legal threats at any point before June of that year, precisely once the documents were declassified, a coincidence that hadn't gone unnoticed. Some skepticism authors have elucubrated about the possible inspiration for Padrón's 'tall men in dressed in red spacesuits'. Not exactly very original.
Explanation (1994 and 2001)
The 1976 document concludes that the origen of the 22/06/976 UFO -although in reality the Spanish Air force used then the acronym FANI (Fenómeno Aéreo No Identificado', 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon') when referring to it- was unknown. In 1994 these paranormal journalists presented such conclusion as an automatic evidence of aliens, or at least UFOs in the sense popular culture depicts then. In reality, as anyone can notice upon checking the report, 'unknown' means precisely that; unknown. At no point in the report the authors bring up rebuttals for any possible logical or rational explanation, but rather they conclude that back in 1976 there was just not enough evidence to provide an accurate explanation of its origin.
The same report contains the transcription of precisely Dr. Gyorko-Gyorkos's opinion about Dr. Padrón's reasoning (safe to assume, by then had already made up his mind about the man) in a military court. In the transcription, and in what looks like a generous maneuver to dismiss Padrón's claims without going as far to humiliate him, Gyorko-Gyorkos explains a military judge that that night Dr. Padrón, possibly overworked and sleep-deprived, misremembered what had seen and his fatigued psyche had create a mixed recollection with what he had seen and what had crossed his mind. As for the taxi driver, this man was probably highly impressionable -apparently the Dr. had behaved in a very excited manner during the phenomenon- and thus in a way Padrón had 'passed' his delusional belief onto him. The military court ruled that "Padrón's credibility could not, for the time being, be corroborated"
Of course, at this point of this writeup a question still lingers; what was whatever thing close to a million and half people saw in the night sky back on June 22nd, 1976? First, let's go over the world's state of affairs at the time, because this is one of these 'mysteries' in which history had been hinting at the answer almost from the beginning;
In 1976 the world was still amidst of a low-key conflict between two superpowers with lots of political tensions; the United States (plus NATO) versus the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (plus other members of the Warsaw Pact). AKA, Cold War. As part of the Western Bloc, at the time Spain had been a long-time ally of NATO. However, the country wouldn't become a NATO member itself until 1982 -which was so controversial within Spain that a referendum would be held in 1986 questioning Spanish people's desire to remain in the military alliance.
As such, while Spain was a Western ally, back in 1976 it was not really 'in the game' yet, especially when taking into account that, unlike in other countries, NATO membership wasn't that welcome. Please notice the year the Spanish army declassified the documents; 1994. The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 (and with it , the fall of the Iron Curtain) helped lower the stakes this international poker game, and as such the world would learn about all sorts of crazy things that had been going on at both sides of the conflict in absolute secrecy.
Earlier in this writeup there is a data-based description of the phenomenon's behavior, but most importantly, it's ballistic trajectory. Adding to that, countless witnesses had described seeing either one or a couple of lights 'taking off like a rocket'. Let's remember; it had been ascertained that it originated at about 700 kilometers west and had moved further west in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean while reaching an altitude of 90 kilometers -which is about the lower thermosphere. This had already raised the first suspicions among the members of the Spanish intelligence services, suspicions that gained weight in 1994 -and that likely led to the declassification of the report- when much clearer and straightforward communication between the United States' government and Spain's allowed for a more open investigation of the sort of testing the Americans were engaging in. In 2001 an article of research journalism, coauthored by science journalists Ricardo Campo and Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos finally identified what was behind the 1976 aerial phenomenon.
Campo and Ballester had already noticed its ballistic trajectory calculated in 1976. In 1999, suspecting already who (country) was the 'culprit', they accessed Jonathan McDowell's database of ballistic missile launches.
Previous to that Campo and Ballester had failed to find any useful information in NASA's archives, as none of the launches in their registry matched the evidence, and prior to that -right after the 1994 declassification, in fact- they had traveled to Moscow looking for the possible explanation there. Russian military authorities had adamantly denied their involvement in the phenomena, which directed the investigators towards other leads (while at the same time not disregarding the possibility of Russia being behind it after all.
Finally, Campo and Ballester bumped into these two rows
of the database. First column indicates the launch identification number. Second and third, the date (in the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Fourth is GMT time (which, adjusting for a compilation error, coincides with Canary Islands' GMT+1 local time when the phenomenon took place). The fifth column tells the type of missile, the sixth on identifies the launch platform and finally the seventh one indicates who was responsible for the launch. Simply put, the information in these rows means; on June 22nd, 1976, two Poseidon C3 thermonuclear missiles were launched from US Navy's submarine USS Von Steuben
), at 20:16 and 20:17 GTM.
The database does not include location (that information remains classified) but during their research Campo and Ballester learned from McDowell
himself that the US Navy's eastern test range covers from Cape Canaveral (Florida, US) all the way Ascension Island
. The location of the 1976's phenomenon falls well within such range.
From here, Campos and Ballester offered an explanation of its optics. The Poseidon C3 missile
carries several 40-kiloton nuclear warheads (normally ten) -for comparison, Little Boy was a single 15-kiloton bomb. Once the two 400-kiloton missiles detonated in the thermosphere, the quick expansion of extremely hot atmospheric gases reflected the sunlight back to Earth, even though by then in Canary Islands the sun was already well below the horizon and the sky was pitch black; at 90 kilometers of altitude, these expanding gases were still in direct path of the sunlight. This reflection is what made the phenomenon appear so bright and big in spite of the 700+ kilometers of distance between witnesses and its source. Campo and Ballester's article
provided also an explanation for other similar events -albeit not that espectacular as the one pertaining this writeup- that had taken place in the islands between 1973 and 1979. All except one were found to be the result of other American thermonuclear tests, with the exception of this one
seen south of the archipelago in 1979 -and finally acknowledged by Russia in 2017, although they did not explain what exactly it was. Conclusion TL;DR: It was a couple of thermonuclear missiles launched in secrecy by the US Navy in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The 'aliens' witness was, to put it mildy, an individual with an extreme tendency to make ludicrous statements and a marked need to be the centre of attention.
Campo and Ballester's work is available online for free, and anyone who speak Spanish can check the story of their investigation for themselves.
This is not to say that the whole 'aliens' narrative died down. To this day, the story of the 1976 phenomenon continues to be shared sometimes in media as 'proof' of UFO/aliens, even though it's literally neither -coincidentally, failing to mention the vast amount of evidence pointing at a thermonuclear test. In June of 2016 several newspapers published articles remembering the phenomenon in its 40th anniversary, and pretty much all of them reminded the reader right from the headline that the 'mystery' had long been solved. 2023.06.07 22:11 KillerActual Gurevich please, the MiG-23-98, the Flogger's swansong.
| || | submitted by KillerActual to Warthunder [link] [comments]
A MiG-23MLD converted into a technology demonstrator for the MiG-23-98 programme.
In the mid-late 90s, Mikoyan offered a deep upgrade package for the venerable MiG-23 fighter aircraft mainly targeting foreign users of the MiG-23. This upgrade package entailed a comprehensive upgrade of the avionics onboard the aircraft in order to allow the aircraft to carry more modern air-to-air missiles.
Ultimately, 3 variants of the MiG-23-98 were proposed, the MiG-23-98-1, the MiG-23-98-2, and the MiG-23-98-3. The MiG-23-98 on display alongside the munitions that she is able to carry.
The MiG-23-98-1 was the most advanced variant of the MiG-23-98 programme. The Saphir-23 radar was replaced with the more capable Moskit-23 radar, capable of detecting targets up to 100 km away. Avionics upgrades allow the MiG-23-98-1 to carry modern air-to-air missiles, namely the R-73, R-27 R-27ER, R-27T/R-27ET and the R-77 AAMs. It was also able to carry guided munitions such as the KAB-500KR TV-guided bomb, the KAB-500L laser-guided bomb and the Kh-25ML, Kh-25L and Kh-29L laser-guided air-to-ground missiles. If this is to be introduced to the game, it would basically almost be a MiG-29, and will thus require a minimum BR of 11.7, and can definitely go up in BR. Another photo of the MiG-23-98, displaying even more compatible munitions.
The MiG-23-98-2 had a weaker Moskit-21 radar that could only detect targets up to 60km away, but for all intents and purposes ingame is similar to the earlier MiG-23-98-1. This is effectively the only variant that went into production, as 18 MiG-23MLs of the Angolan Air Force were upgraded to a standard resembling this variant. If this is to be introduced to the game, it would require a minimum BR of 11.7, and can definitely go up in BR.
The final variant is the MiG-23-98-3, and is the least capable variant of all the 3 variants, with no notable improvements sans an improved antenna, and has the capability of a MiG-23ML. Due to this, I suggest a minimum BR of 11.3. General characteristics

2023.06.07 22:11 Sharinganprincess91 [F4M] Fandom Roleplay. Looking for more partners. (Super freaking bored, please read before messaging me...)
Side note: I've added a password, so read carefully. If you message me WITHOUT the password, your messages are automatically IGNORED. tired of getting hit up with people who don't read 😒. It's ridiculous cause I've ignored 5+ chats cause none of them contained the password. Things are written for a reason.
Facts about me:
- I have been roleplaying since 2012. Yes, I got experience under my belt, and yes, my ideas usually have really long reads, but don't let that scare you off! After the starter is off, I may lower myself down to a decent paragraph or two, sometimes three! It all depends on what I've got to work with.
- My timezone is EST. I'm awake from 9am - 2am and I'm usually free unless I'm busy doing house chores, out of the house, asleep, or playing video games on my switch. I'm usually become REALLY active at or around 8pm.
1: if you don't like 50/50 mixture of sex scenes and story, don't bother hopping into my inbox. I'm fine with sex scenes, but when it's constantly back to back, the roleplay itself gets boring.
2: Be literate. No one liners. I like to write..it's annoying when I send a 2-3 paragraph response and I get 3 lines...just...no. I am not accepting people who are just starting out! If you aren't experienced in writing or roleplaying, kindly stay out of my inbox.
3: Be okay with playing canon characters. I'm mainly doing fandom roleplays right now and it's going to be Canon x my oc. No, I'm not doing double ups. Do not even ask, because the answer will be no every time. I do not give a shit if you think that makes me 'lazy' or 'selfish', if you've got a problem, you can simply ignore or block me. Commenting on my post to bitch and whine about me not doubling up will only result in me blocking you. The ONLY time I'll double up, and if I'm confident enough, I'll only do female characters. I suck at males. Got a problem? Not my issue. Block and move on.
4: Roleplay in third person. I can't and won't adapt to first. Don't even bring up the idea of you playing first person and me playing third. Believe it or not, I've been asked this twice and that is just a hell no for me. The only time I do first, is when I'm writing into my book.
5: if you don't know how to share ideas, then don't bother messaging me. I'm tired of carrying the story when the other person doesn't help. If you've got ideas, then PLEASE speak up! Your opinion on the roleplay matters too! I'm an easy going person, and easy to get along with (dispite my rules).
6: DO NOT control my character. I control what she says, does, hears, sees, ect. I don't control yours, so don't control mine. HOWEVER, if it's highly necessary and needed, then run it by me first and ask me. Just leave me some wiggle room so I can make a decent response. Failure to comply by this rule, results in immediate drop of the rp.
Yes, I've updated my rules just a tad. I do not care if it makes me sound mean or rude, because I'm neither of these things. I'm just tired of putting these rules down for a specific reason and they go ignored because I can tell when someone hasn't read them, and lied about it. I'm just trying to get my point across and roleplay. I'm a very easy going person who loves to make friends on the side (which I've somewhat given up on making friends...only a selective few have actually gained my friendship).
Do not hop into my inbox with a simple 'hey' 'hi' 'sup', etc and for God's sake, don't message me with a 'rp?'and proceed me to flash me with your talliwhacker. I promise you, you'll get your feelings hurt and I'll be here laughing at ya 😂. Nobody wants a peen on their screen. Do not send me an image of your one eyed noodle. Thank you. The password is pineapple.

2023.06.07 22:11 lousyprogrammer55 Trying to come up with a check for players to unlock a legendary weapon.
I'm currently homebrewing a campaign and I'm trying to write a section where the party comes across a massive ice block holding a legendary weapon. I'm trying to come up with a challenge/series of check the players must make in order to free the weapon. I am thinking of perhaps making them pass three DC 20+ Strength checks. After the first passed check, a Dire Troll will emerge from a cave nearby and attack them.
The party consists of 4-5 level 7 players who are experienced, so I'm confident that this will be a good challenge for them.
What checks and perils did you subject your players to in order to obtain a legendary weapon? Do you think I'm expecting too much of them? Let me know what you think!

2023.06.07 22:11 Fun_Refrigerator_836 Similar movies and shows
I love certain types of fantasy and even though it’s rated quite badly I loved the movie of The School for Good and Evil, despite it not being produced the best. I want to read the series but I also would love to know any similar shows, movies and books. I love the magical element to it, it being set in a boarding school, the romance and the creativity.
Ones I’ve already enjoyed are Harry Potter, Fate: The Winx Saga, Alice in Wonderland, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Wednesday.
If you’re a fan of this series I recommend checking out the above :) They’re all magical series/ movies, mostly set in magic schools with romantic subplots.

2023.06.07 22:07 ProfessionalNovel984 55M with heart, liver problems and gallbladder stones confused with Liver CT scan results
Hello. After going to several different hospitals I found out that I have a lot of gall bladder stones, fatty liver, 2 cyst on my liver. I also have fluid in the outer layer of my heart which is why the doctors are reluctant to put me on general anesthesia.
I was facing pain on pression on my left chest, but the pain was not from the heart. It felt to me that the sharp pain was in the muscles in between the ribs. I went to the hospital, they did a CT scan and Ultrasonogram. They told me that the cysts are not cancerous and are nothing to be worried about. But the doctors are also not sure whether to operate to get rid of the kidney stones as I have heart problems.
Could someone give me some suggestions/advice on what to do next?
Part of examination : USG of Whole Abdomen. Liver : Normal in size, Cystic area with few low level echoes seen. in liver in between right and left lobe, measuring about (34.5 x 33.6) mm. Rest of the hepatic parenchymal echogenicity. is slightly increased. Hepatic and portal veins are normal in caliber. Gall bladder : Normal in size & shape. Wall thickness is within normal limits. Multiple bright echogenic structures casting distal acoustic shadows are seen in the lumen of gall bladder, largest one visualized measuring about 11 mm. Biliary trees : CBD and intrahepatic biliary trees are not dilated. Pancreas : Normal in size. Parenchyma is homogeneous. Pancreatic duct is not dilated. Spleen : Normal in size with uniform echotexture. Vessels at splenic hilum are not dilated. Kidneys : Both kidneys are normal in size, shape and position. Corticomedullary differentiation is maintained. The pelvi-calyceal systems are not dilated. Ureters are not seen on either side which exclude their dilatation. Urinary bladder : Urinary bladder is almost regular in outline. No intrinsic lesion is seen in the visualized lumen. Prostate gland : Prostate gland is mildly enlarged in size, measuring about (3.5 x 4.1 x 3.7) cm, volume is about 29.2 cc. Tiny calcification seen in prostatic parenchyma. The capsule is intact. Impression: 1. Fatty infiltration in liver with complex hepatic cyst. 2. Cholelithiasis. 3. Mildly enlarged prostate.
CT SCAN OF UPPER ABDOMEN
TECHNIQUES: Axial CT slices of upper abdomen were obtained with sagittal and coronal reconstructions (MPR). Pre and post IV. contrast with oral administration of contrast medium
Findings (Reporting on films and PACS) :
Liver : The liver is mildly enlarged in size. A well defined, mild marginally enhanced semisolid lesion measures about AP 30 X TR 38 X CC 35 mm with few calcific foci & peripherally located small cysts (10 mm) seen in the segment VIII. Rest of the parenchyma is low attenuated. Gallbladder is normal in size. Wall slightly thickened. Multiple small gallstones seen within the lumen which are hypoattenuating relative to the surrounding bile, representing cholesterol stones. No pericholecystic collection is noticed. Pancreas is regular in outline with uniform attenuation. MPD is not dilated. Spleen is normal in size. Surfaces are smooth; parenchyma appears normal. Both kidneys are normal in size, shape and position with normal function No evidence of hydronephrosis is noted. Both ureters are also normal in caliber. Adrenal glands: normal in size & attenuation.LNs : No sizeable lymphadenopathy is noted in abdominopelvic region. Others : No ascites is noted in the abdomen or pelvis. VISUALIZED PORTION OF LUNG : A calcified nodule (9 x 8) mm seen in the posterior segment of left upper lobe. Minimal pericardial effusion is also evident. VISUALIZED BONE : Mild degenerative changes seen in the lumbar spine.IMPRESSION: Clinical Information: For evaluation of ultra-songraphiclly detected hepatic complex cyst.
CECT of upper abdomen reveals —Cholelithiasis.Hepatic SOL, likely hydatid cyst (stage 4) / haemangioma. Minimal pericardial effusion.

2023.06.07 22:06 livepokertheory 2023 WSOP Trip Report Day 1-2; $600 PLO and $1500 6-handed
, I’ve recently been posting some well-received posts on analyzing live spots with solvers but taking a break this week to play some bracelet events and I wanted to write about it.
This post will cover my first 2 days in Vegas playing $600 Pot Limit Omaha Deepstack and $1500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’Em.
I’ve been playing poker since the moneymaker boom and I’ve always wanted to play the WSOP but between the cost when I was younger, then the time when I was older, I’ve never managed to make it out. The few times I had it scheduled it was always jynxed with life getting in the way.
This year I have the time and money so I scheduled on week to do a few bracelet events and then another week to do the main event, with cash games after I’m busto. I’ve always enjoyed reading about other people’s experience, and I was curious about some of the logistics so I thought I’d do a trip report. This is the first half of the bracelet week. I will write later about the 2.5k freezeout, any cash game experiences, and then in a month I will play the main event and write about that.
I decided to go for this first week to play $600 PLO, $1500 6-handed, $2500 freezeout, and small chance $1500 Badugi. I’m primarily a NLHE player but I enjoy mixed games quite a bit. I like the weekday tournaments since I’d rather have a higher chance of reaching a final table in the smaller fields, which are still very big, but not as massive as something like Millionaire Maker.
I flew in Monday morning so that I’d be guarenteed to be setup for $1500 6-handed on Tuesday, and figured I’d play $600 PLO if it made sense. I went straight from the airport to Paris which is the venue. I arrive at Paris but I’m a bit lost. I see Dylan Weisman checking into the hotel who I recognize from PLO high roller tournaments so I figure he knows where the PLO tournament is, and he does.
This experience was the beginning of my biggest realization that I watch way too much poker because I recognize a million people at the WSOP. It was almost an eerie feeling. I see a surprising amount of faces from my local region, then a good mix of new poker celebs like Rampage , Brad Owens, Steven Song, and OGs like Shaun Deeb and Maria Ho. I unfortunately haven’t seen any super OGs like Hellmuth or Negraeau, but either way it’s been fun brushing shoulders with all these people you see on PokerNews.
At Paris I started to get in a long line to register, but then I read online I need a Caesar’s card first so fortunately I ran to get that. It was a few minutes to get that, then about a 25 minute wait to register for the tournament. Then there was a third line to actually get a seat. This third line looked very long but it moved pretty quick, I’d say I waited about 10 minutes. So overall, from the airport it took me about an hour to get seated in the tournament which wasn’t too bad.
No major logistics issues, it was all smooth sailing so I think the advice to arrive 24 hours before the tournament is probably a little overkill unless you’re ultra-cautious. I flew in a day early to be ready for 6-handed but turns out zero problem getting in this PLO tournament straight from the airport. I was playing at the table with my carry-on bag and laptop case but that was fine.
This wasn’t my first live tournament but still, it’s the WORLD SERIES OF POKER. I was excited. PLO is not my strong suit, I’ve played it more than the average poker player but less than a PLO reg, but I enjoy playing different variants so wanted to get at least one tournament that wasn’t NLHE.
I fold for a few orbits then pick up KT66 with the King suited in the BB, folds to the SB who raises. Flop comes down QJ7r, SB continues for pot I call with my open-ender. Turn is a offsuit 2, SB checks. This isn’t a super deep tournament and I was a bit late so I already put a third of my chips into this pot, I put half of what I have left into the middle and he folds!
My first hand won in the WSOP, and it was a bluff that got through! Granted, a semi-bluff and I may have even had the best hand with 66 but - still counts!
Later on I call in the SB and we go 5 ways to the flop, I have Q9xx and flop comes down KJT rainbow, I flopped second nut straight, and it checks through. Checks through to the flop, turn puts a spade draw out there, reg looking guy pots it, I call. River bricks out, I check, he tanks for a while, looking like deciding whether to bluff or not, if he bets I call it off and feel bad if he has the AQ but he checks back and mucks. Lets go!
There’s a new guy to my right and he seems very reggy. He’s also very chatty with the guy next to him, they’re speaking Brazilian Portuguese which I happen to understand bits and pieces of. He raises me in the SB when I have ATxx, flop is AT8, he bets, I raise, he folds. Not sure if that’s a standard raise or just-call, but I figure i probably have the best hand but I hate most turn cards.
I notice a PokerNew journalist is studiously writing down the hands he’s in. He plays a big pot, then I check the PokerNews updates and it’s the hand I just watched. Turns out my blind vs blind opponent is Yuri Dzivielevski, who has tons of SCOOP titles, 5M in live tournament earnings, 2 bracelets, high roller reg, and has won the WSOP PLOssus. Not a soft opponent to draw !
On the other hand, another guy at the table called a triple barrel with Q high and not much going on because “the pot was so big by the end”. I feel I got the authentic WSOP experience having one of the best players in the world and one of the worst players at the world at my table. Yuri is eventually busted by his Brazilian pal.
I did notice Yuri limping in EP, I don’t know PLO tournament strategy and I was surprised that’s a thing. Given his results I’m more inclined to think it’s a reasonable thing to do than not, I’m guessing pot control due to the pot-nature of the game.
I was also surprised all these guys go from playing $25ks to $600 tournaments. I know they have bracelet bets, sell their action in the bigger ones, the small tournaments are fastesofter and still plenty of money up top, so I suppose it makes sense. But it still must be a little jarring to go back and forth from nosebleeds to smallball donkaments.
A few hands later I get AKJJ with a King suit and raise from EP and BTN pots me. If I call it’s about 50% of my chips, this is a 30 minute level tournament so we’re not super deep. I’m really not sure what supposed to do here, so I fold worried he has AA and has me crushed. I feel 3-bets are very AA heavy so I’d rather have a smaller rundown or something but does feel nitty to fold a a super premium. In the PokerNews updates I see Shaun Deeb 3-betting KT99 , I don’t know how standard that is or if he’s just trying to run it up or bust because it’s only $600 and there’s bigger events on the schedule. If any PLO experts want to weigh in on any of these hands, go ahead.
I feel good about the fold because a few hands later I get AKK9 with a King suit. Bad player raises and I just call in the blinds. Flop is AK9 , I check he bets I call. Turn gives me the nut flush draw, I check he puts me all-in, I call, he’s drawing dead with just an Ace and I double! I have about double starting stack now which is about average.
At this point no idea how many of the player entries are even left since they haven’t updated it.
Despite my decent stack, the blinds are still quite high and going up fast so before I know it I’m on the shorter side again. I may be playing a bit too tight, not sure, though I also took a few flops with some rundowns and completely bricked.
Now I’m short stacked and get AT32 with suited Ace in the BB and call a HJ raise. Flop comes down AJ5, I have top pair, a gutshot, and backdoor spades. I check, he pots it which puts me all in. I really feel bad because if he has AJ I’m drawing to just a gutshot, if he has AK I’m in bad shape, he could still have AA and I’m in big trouble. So I tank and actually consider a fold. But I just feel I’m too short stack to fold so I call it off. He has 7743, just a pair of sevens and his own gutshot that I block! Hooray! Turn….SEVEN. NOOO. SO CLOSE TO THE MONEY I GET 5 OUTED, NOOOO. River 6…sigh…good game…wait…that was the 7 of spades and the 6 of spades! I made a flush! Still in it!
Not too much later I get AAxx and raise, get 3-bet, so I jam it in. He also has AA, we end up chopping with our one pair, Aces. I’m still pretty short, I get J943 double suited in the BB, SB min-raises, I defend. Flop JJ4, I check, he pots me all-in, I call , he has AA, I hold and double! Overall I probably have been playing too tight and nursing a short stack but at least I’m getting the chips in ahead when I do get it in.
Even though it’s been a while it always feels that way in tournaments so I have no idea how close to the bubble we are, but now the tournament pauses while they do a count so we know when to go hand-to-hand. We wait quite a bit while they do the count. When they come back it’s a big announcement, we’re already in the money! I cashed my first bracelet event ever, hell yeah!
Not long after we do dinner break and I’m feeling great since already off to a great start to my WSOP. I run to the hotel to checkin and frantically scramble back, I had plenty of time but didn’t want to risk blinding out my first in-the-money WSOP stack.
After dinner break, I get AKQ4 with suited Ace, raise from BTN and BB calls. Flop is A92ss not my suit. He checks, I bet about half pot, he re-pots me all-in. I’m dead to a set but once again, just started the hand with about 20 BB and feel I might be getting run over so I tank and then call. He has the spade draw, pair of nines, and some backdoor straights. He says to me “that’s all you’re calling with?” when he sees my hand, but he bricks out and I double. Tournament starting stack was 30k and I have now have about 170k which is about 40BB, not bad. I also now have one of those 25k green chips.
A bit later, I’m on the button with A543 suited Ace, I raise and BB is short stack and jams with JJTT. He wins so I lose some chips and blinds keep going up.
A little bit later I get AQJJ with a suited Ace, I raise from UTG, UTG+1 has a big stack and re-pots into many other big stacks. Once again, no idea if I’m supposed to continue with this hand. I make a nitty fold.
There is a new guy at the table who’s been limping almost every hand. He limps HJ and I raise CO with AT97, Ace suited to diamonds. We go heads up to K82dd. He checks, I pot, I have like 2 small chips left which get all in on the turn. He has KTxx, turn is a T giving him two pair and me an open-ender, I still have the Ace, diamond, or straight as outs but river is complete brick and I’m busto for $1200.
There were three lines to start the tournament and now three lines to end it. First I get in line to get my official finishing ticket. I get a little ticket that says my name and place and I’m told I can cash out within the month but I just walk over to do it. This line took quite a bit, I was tired from having played all day so this line tilted me more than the ones to enter. Then at the end of this line, they get my info, ask for a tip, I give them $20, then send me to another
line to actually get the money. Finally I get the money and go home and get to sleep.
Next day I wake up, tournament starts at 10AM but I personally am in the “first few tourney levels are overrated” so I register around noon. However, I go to the same cage in Paris, and then get told I have to go to Horseshoe which is a 5 minute walk to the other side of the casino and was confusing to find.
The good news is that the lines were even shorter for this one so once I found the place to register it was very quick to get seated.
My table looks reggy (to the extent you can judge books by its cover) and I thought it was a bad table draw as everyone seemed solid. First hand I get 99 in CO, SB 3-bets me, flop KQ4, he bets I fold. Not as good a start.
But a few hands later I get AA in the BB, one soft spot at the tabe limped early, BTN raised, I squeeze big, they both come along and fold flop so I get some chips. I end up giving those chips back not long after, I get 98ss on the BTN, starts to look like a family pot after an early raise gets 2 flatters plus me, then the small blind squeezes and everyone folds, but huge amount of dead money so I take a flop. Flop is A92 not my suit, opponent small bets which I call, turn is an A, he small bets again and I fold.
This next hand was kind of stupid of me, I raise red 77 from LJ and HJ calls. Flop Q86ccc. I lead flop small he calls. Turn offsuit 5. I lead again with my open ended closer to half pot and he calls. River is a J, I give up, he checks back KQ with no club. I probably wasted chips here against his range and getting too aggro on a monotone board but picking up the open-ender on turn felt like I had to keep going.
I get blinded down a bit more and from my 25k starting I have like 8k which is pretty bad.
I get a table move. New table seems a little better. Lots of dudes are getting massages which is fine, but the guy next to me is wearing gym shorts and has the masseuse rubbing his upper thighs bare which seemed too much to me. The masseuse seemed weirdly into it as well. I don’t have a problem with massages at the table, I never get them myself because I just don’t want it to be a distraction, but I think it should stick to neck, shoulders, and back. The full body rubs are too much. But my annoyance is short-lived as I get AQ in the BB, BTN raises then calls my jam, he has KJs. He flops the flush draw but misses everything and I double.
I recognize Fara Galfond and Brad Owen at the tables next to me which is funny. Brad is chatting up a really pretty girl who happens to be seated next to him and seems more interested in her than the game he’s in.
Somehow I never get anything going in this tournament, mostly card dead, and I’m perpetually short-stacked but fortunately the few hands I do get I double up. I double up with JJ vs KJ not long after the first double up. But I get blinded down yet again. I have about 15BB in the BB and get A9o, SB 3xes, I jam, he has JJ. Flop has two nines though so I suck out! Saves me $1500 need to rebuy.
Not long after I raise Q9o in the SB, flop JT9ccc. I bet he calls. Turn brick. I check, he bets half pot, I call. River 8c, I check, he says “that’s a bad card to bluff” little does he know it’s a super tough spot for me if he jams but he mucks to my straight. Now I have some chips and can play this thing.
I get moved tables yet again. This one was a bunch of guys with European accents. Seemingly every hand was one Euro triple barreling with nothing and another Euro hero calling with very little. Ironically the serious players seemed to have more crazy action then the drunk guys at some of my other tables.
I’m only at this table a tiny bit before I’m moved from Horseshoe to Paris. We had to bag up and follow a guy holding up a big sign like we were 5th graders on a city field trip. My new table has a drunken troll and a guy who’s talking strategy and coaching others quite frequently. The troll did a good job toeing that fine line between being funny and being obnoxious, and even though he needled me a bit it was still more fun then the serious tables.
The other guy who I will call coach was explaining ranges and confidently saying exactly what hands people could and couldn’t have. The funny thing is he ended up in a massive pot where he put 80% of his stack in on an A8442 board then folded river to the all-in showing AQ saying the other guy had to have AK and can’t be bluffing. The other guy bashfully shows AJ. So the guy who had the most coaching to share to the table ended up making arguably the worst play of the night which the troll did plenty of needling for.
The troll was also drinking a lot and saying he was bored and didn’t want to play, but he wasn’t playing that badly, seems like the opposite of the coach in that he was trying to pretend to be worse than he was. That is a funny dynamic of poker where some people want you to think they’re the best player and some people want you to think they’re the worst player.
I’m short stack as usual with 25BB but get AKs clubs, troll 3-bets me , I jam he snaps with ATdd. Flop is KQ7dd. Big sweat hand and even if he hadn’t 3bet me we would be all-in on this flop. But I double up to about 100k chips which is 4x starting for the dinner break.
Dinner break I’m excited because there’s about 420 left and 380 cash so I have excellent shot at going 2/2 ITM at my first 2 bracelet events. I’m elated. However, my luck would soon turn after I got back from dinner. I go mostly card-dead for a bit, then I get A3o in the BTN. I have about 80k chips with a 4k BB so I have 20BB, but both the coach in the SB and the troll in the BB have about 40k for 10BB so I open jam. Unfortunately coach wakes up with 99 and troll even considers calling with A6s which is pretty bad for me that an Ace is dead and the 99 holds.
Now I only have about 10BB. Another orbit and I get K6s in the SB with coach in the BB. I jam, he tanks so for a moment, I think I’m good since any A-high or pair should be snap-calling, until he very seriously announces “all-in”. Everyone laughs because nobody else was even in the hand, he had mistakenly thought the antes were someone’s chips. He has A4s and board bricks out and he wins with Ace high and he says GG.
I bust around 400 with 380 pay, not the stone cold bubble but a little annoying. Like many poker players I feel I run worse than average, have limited run-good, so I feel like I “wasted” the bunch of all-ins I did win in this tournament and now I my run-good meter is low going into the freezeout. Obviously this is totally irrational but just how I feel. Also, the min cash was 2.4k which wouldn’t be a huge swing in the big scheme of my poker year but 2.4k is still 2.4k, but oh well.
I go home and go to sleep, wake up and write this post. Onwards and upwards to the 2.5k freezeout!

2023.06.07 22:06 corn2824 Bottle nipple flow
My LO is 11 weeks and hates the bottle. She used to take them but just kinda give you a mean look the whole feed, but in the last 4 weeks I’ve only gotten her to take a bottle twice (probably have attempted 7-8 times). It’s not usually an issue as I WFH and care for her but occasionally we want to give a bottle. When we do, we use the Dr Browns premie nipple and she will scream, gag, push the nipple out relentlessly. The only time we can get her to take a bottle is if she is asleep/almost asleep and we start the bottle while she is sucking in her sleep.
The few times we have given a bottle in the last month, the milk leaks a lot from the cap and from what I’ve read this is because she is sucking too hard for the flow rate and that we need to size up to the level 1 flow.
Is it okay to increase the flow for the bottle? I have a pretty aggressive let down and I think she is used to getting her milk quickly (we did a weighted feed at 5 weeks and she was getting 3 oz in 10 mins). If I increase the flow I am worried about her starting to prefer the bottle which I am trying to avoid since more frequent pumping and the dishes accompanied with it and bottle feeding take a toll on my mental health. But obviously, it would be nice for her to not be 100% reliant on me to eat.
Thanks in advance for the help!!

2023.06.07 22:05 3amCoffeeDrinker Need help understanding different SMW cartridges
| || | submitted by 3amCoffeeDrinker to snes [link] [comments]
I submitted my SMW to be graded just for preservation. It's mine from when I was a kid and luckily my dad saved everything for me. But I don't understand why it's telling me the cartridge isn't the correct version. I have done as much digging as I think I can but I can't find any information on "SNS-USA". The notes from CGC state I need "SNS-USA/CAN" and that "SNS-USA" was a "console pack-in". Thank you for any information you might have or any direction you might point me in to try and argue my case with CGC (Cross posted in gamecollecting
