Why does my drinking Bud Light offend you?

News item: Anthony Bass, a pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, shared a video Monday via Instagram endorsing an anti-LGBTQ boycott of brands such as Target and Bud Light.

"Here's the reason biblically why I believe Christians have gotta be boycotting Target, Bud Light, and any other corporation that's pushing the things they're pushing,” Bass said. “I think a lot of people make this into a political issue, or they say, 'Oh, what's the big deal?’
​
“This is evil, this is demonic, we won't stand for it, we're not going to go to the stores anymore and we're not going to give you our money.”
​
It would be impolite to wish that Mr. Bass, who throws a ball for a living, blows out his elbow. Perhaps then he could simply blow it out his tailpipe.
​
Because I’ve grown tired of sanctimonious and hypocritical moral outrage over what Target and Bud Light are “pushing,” while it’s permissible that Bass and his ilk get to “push” their beliefs on the rest of us.
​
Example: In the last two months or so, I’ve been questioned a half dozen times in public as to why I’m drinking Bud Light. Seems people like Bass have objected to Anheuser Busch’s marketing partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Their boycott of Bud Light has led to a decrease in sales both locally and nationally. (Local bar and restaurant owners say Bud Light sales are down almost 30 percent.)
​
It is their right, of course, to boycott the product. I’m just curious as to why what I’m drinking is their business. I drink Bud Light because I like it. And I’m still drinking Bud Light because I will not marginalize people based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. I’m respectful enough to support someone else’s desire to evolve into another gender. And I’m not stupid enough to believe that my decision to drink Bud Light changes who I am or what I stand for in any possible way.
​
But I wonder why it’s so important for people — and the questions to me haven’t all come from men — to announce their disdain for a bottle of beer, tacitly implying their sexuality is “normal.” Remember this one and write it down: If you are truly comfortable with who you are, you needn’t announce anything to anyone.
​
And yet to further illustrate how screwed up this country really is, there’s this: Anheuser-Busch hasn’t merely been accused of alienating its traditional customer base with the partnership, but some LGBTQ+ campaigners have also criticized the company for not defending its ties with Mulvaney.
​
Amid all the finger-pointing and fear-fanning, the truth hides in the corner, too scared to emerge. The truth is that we are supposed to think critically, weigh evidence from both sides and then make up our own minds. Instead, we’ve become a country hell bent on legislating whatever cause we think is right and just, while burying the other side from all consideration.
​
It’s political tribalism. All or nothing. One side or the other. If you’re not in agreement with every morsel of the transgender movement, you are a snarling, hating, infidel. If you’re not in total agreement with Anthony Bass and his beliefs, you’re going to wither in hell.
​
But what if — and hold on to your ascots here — two conflicting positions can still be true? Example: What if I support Bud Light’s decision to use a transgender influencer, but also believe that transgender high school athletes belong in their own division?
​
I disagree with the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference’s policy complying with a state law that requires all high school students be treated according to their gender identity. We should consider a sports-centric law that acknowledges sports' unique challenges and accommodates the physical component for success that exists virtually nowhere else in society.
​
Sex discrimination in education, health care, housing and financial credit have no place in this country. But we must — must — realize and accept that sports require a physical component to succeed that calls for different guidelines.
​
Put it this way: Applying to a school or for health care, housing or financial credit requires no physical component to succeed. Sports require speed, strength and agility and do not fit under the same umbrella. And yet sports are routinely shoved into the same arguments about unfair treatment. Injustices get piled on for rhetorical usefulness, even though they're not applicable.
​
The male born composition has inherent physical advantages, rare exceptions noted. But in the aggregate, there are physiologic differences between biological males and females. I don’t believe writing that makes me transphobic. We should respect a person’s pronoun of choice. But that doesn't mean we have to blindly agree with claims that are not supported by science.
​
Yet that appears to be the new end game in this country. Blind agreement. Their side or yours. And here I sit, sipping my Bud Light, trying to figure out why so many of us act like the last three letters of Anthony Bass’ last name.
​

This article pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about the situation. Bud Light basically sent someone a can with her image celebrating a milestone. The fact it turned the beer into enemy number one doesn’t surprise me considering the vitriol that has become commonplace in our country. I have had plenty of private messages regarding a video I posted supporting a beer, and more importantly a human being. Most have been vehemently against my support of both and relish the chance to send me a screen shot of Bud Lights stock on a daily basis with a “Go woke, Go broke” ending. I believe much of the vitriol comes from news and talk radio which is why Spotify now fills my vehicle with music instead of talk. I ask everyone to limit their news intake to 30 minutes per day regardless of your party affiliation to center your life. Sometimes my radio will land on a “news station”, and I can feel my blood pressure rise as the most divisive topic of the day is being discussed with a majority of the facts not being considered. I am not recommending folks to ignore what’s happening in our world, but would point out that our country has survived many decades without the need for “up to the second” news reports. Most of the things we worry about will never happen and it seems our country is living in a constant state of fear which is certainly to blame for the vitriol. There will never be a point where everyone in the country will collectively say we are all happy with everything, but I still have a deep believe that with constructive conversations and true empathy we can get us close. When I get my boat in the water I would love to have an ice cold Bud Light while listening to my relaxing boat playlist, and of course talking with my favorite sports writer. That’s an invitation Mike. Great article.

This is even though like 2006, 2010 and 2014 they had to go through boycotts for this. And they did shrink back in response, but also came right back and didn’t move backwards for long.

Continue drinking Corona because I drink what I drink.
It’s damn near impossible to do a successful boycott long term. The web of corporate connections means when you think you’re hurting one, it’s actually benefitting another one connected to it.
The beverage brand that owns Budweiser, Corona, and Stella Artois, is suing US beer-maker Constellation Brands for using the Corona brand name in a hard seltzer, according to a lawsuit filed Monday.

Beverage giant Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) acquired Corona’s parent company, Grupo Modelo, in 2013, but US antitrust regulators required it to sell the company’s US-based business to Constellation. AB InBev retained rights to the products in other markets, and the deal gave Constellation the rights to produce Corona and other Modelo brands in the US.

Bud Light sales are down between 26% and 35% nationwide additionally Budweiser and other AB brands (Michelob Ultra, Busch Light and Natural Light to name a few) have also taken a hit of around 11%. Bud Light has been the best selling beer in the USA for over 20 years and the normal volume of sales is 27 million barrels a year or 1134 million gallons. A 30% drop equals a loss of 340 million gallons a year. My take, buy Coors stock now

There is a whole market opening up to people that will only get their businesses off the ground (temporarily for a quick cash grab) by using these outrage tactics and capitalizing (literally) on impaired brains that as Mr. DiMauro correctly observed “Blind agreement. Their side or yours”

I think the cancel culture is terrible whatever your political party of choice is. Very sad that social media has done this to us. Thomas- as far as I knew and as far as I can tell Guinness is the most popular beer in Ireland holding a full 25% of the market share. Bud Light does not even show up in the top ten (https://www.beer100.com/best-selling-beers-ireland/) I think the guy was pulling your leg. Bud Light only became available in Ireland in 2020.

Of course there’s a pub on the top floor and while getting a pint of Guinness the bar I notice several taps Bud Light. Do I pity the idiots who drool over this rework? Yeah.
Is it a champ for us still? Nope.
This downgrade isn’t for us and honestly that’s ok. Yeah we basically wasted years of our time to perfect the true fluidity and beauty of him only to have it all thrown in the garbage for sit mid for half the game and delete someone at 20 but oh well like I said the rework isn’t for us.
Alot of us like champions with kits that have depth and style to them. This version doesn’t have that. His gameplay is linear boring garbage meant to appeal by design alone and that’s ok. That was the point of the rework.
Nothing like him is coming back same as old galio. And honestly I’m ok with that. We can just have an exclusive club of people who have a unique skill set no other playerbase will have because riot makes sure even the dumbest of the dumb get catered too.
Basically what I’m trying to say it. Don’t complain about him as the arguments will be ignored and you’ll just be downvoted. I perma ban him no matter what elo because I refuse to have the reminder of years of my time wasted just so some idiot who doesn’t even care about him can play space velkoz.

But whatever I’ll just be happy I got to experience one of the best champions in the game before he got turned into this utter dumpster pile the dumbest of the dumb drool over.

Hi guys, I have the S1 Rerolled (almost, actually is the Spanish version so I will have battle 3 and 4 in the next months) and I have played 10-15 games with friends, mostly used the paladin. But I don't feel like I am using the champion well neither my friends the other champions, actually maybe the barbarian since is just attacking all the time, but still, there is some attacks that should be priorized and I feel like we are playing all champs in the wrong way.
So can you give me little tips for these 8 champions, like, with barbarian try to upgrade all and then blast them, or priorize the defense habilities with monk (or don't use the reroll with CP of the paladin never!!!)?
Also, about general dice combinations, general tips about what should I go for? Like, straight is always the best, try to never go an attack phase without doing something (that's pretty obv I think) or, I don't know, you are the experienced haha

Started Ark in April. My family loves the game. We play PVE on official servers on the island. Living in the south we decided to build a taming raft to head to the north west and north east points of the map to catch more rare dinos. I built a taming raft from YouTube https://youtu.be/t0WFl22EwgU and we have been able to catch quite a few dinos.
The problem is transporting then back. Even in the enclosed trap they sometimes vanish off the raft. I drive carefully, constantly checking back on them, avoid rocks and tight spots yet sometimes even the slightest turn and they are gone. It's like they are not even connected to the raft. The raft turns, the dino doesn't turn with it and then vanishes through the walls.
Is there any way around this? Am I building the raft wrong? Should I give up on taming rafts? We have only gotten 2 of 10 tamed dinos successfully home!

Europeans always say that relegation is great for the sport because it means a team will always try their best and try and put the best product on the field that they can. The problem with it is that teams only goal on the season is to not be relegated and then it creates a cycle where that becomes their only goal for future seasons. Like for Everton this season, why would they not want to be relegated? Money and Image. If I'm a fan of Everton and I know if we went down we'd have a chance at winning the championship league why would I not pick that watch my team in another relegation battle. I don't get how Europeans can be fans of Mid-Table teams when they know they may never see their team win anything in their lifetime and they just have the goal of staying in the league. Also why would people in England not just support the top 5 teams because they are the only ones who can win the league and watch them play in the champions league.
The big teams in Europe are the only ones who win trophies. I don't want to hear about Leicester, that was once in 30 years. The big teams win the big trophies and make the big money. The system sets up for a couple of big teams to just cycle winning the championship every year. I just de" get how it is enjoyable to watch your team knowing they will never win a trophy but you are clueless enough to think they possibly can. But you know they won't. Maybe if a oil company buys your club but where's the pride in that. Why would I feel joy when I know my team bought their way to the top.
When I see Europeans say the NFL is all about money, all I can do is laugh. Little do they know the top teams in their league are the most money hungry sport organizations in the world. The NFL is set up to where no team can become a powerhouse for a long period of time because of the salary cap. Also the draft, people complain that it is not fun when a team just loses all their games to get the high picks. But that's just part of the process. I'd watch my team go winless if it meant success in the next couple of seasons.
Keep your system Europeans and watch your teams win a couple games, while you watch 3 teams trade the league title knowing it won't change. I'll enjoy the NBA and NFL because I know my team will always have the possibility to contend. Your sport is as and if not more money hungry then ours.

hello, my monitor has color banding which I believe is fairly common. it is an MSI Optix G32 series Curved Gaming Monitor with an 8 bit depth, and although it isn't a HUGE detriment to my experience, I just cannot seem to fix the color banding I have

I've toyed with the Gamma, Contrast, Sharpness, and Brightness settings in both Nvidia Control Panel and my monitor's OSD, as well as the 'color temperatures', and I've set the Dynamic Range to Full (0-255) instead of Limited (16-235) various times, but nothing seems to make a difference

idk if it matters, but I tried changing the refresh rates up to 144hz (I guess the cable connecting my monitor to the pc can't support the full 165hz?) but there's no change in the banding. I feel like the banding is less noticeable the more I lower my Contrast but that makes my screen frustratingly darker, even when I bump my Brightness to 100%

in Elden Ring, when the weather is cloudy/foggy, the banding is a bit more noticeable and can sometimes give off the effect of a silhouetted, yet somewhat pixelated mountain or island. like I said, it's not a massive detriment but it can be kind of annoying now that I am more aware of its existence. is this just purely a monitocord thing, or can it be a defunct/issue with my GPU, considering I can't fix it with any setting
I don't entirely believe I had 'noticeable' banding on my old pc (which had an rx570 and used the same cables), but I can't be sure of myself since I only properly learned about banding after I got my new rig

Hi all, I play on the Singapore League of Legends server. Our LoL used to be under Garena but was recently migrated to Riot Games earlier this year. I have been experiencing lag issues very frequently. My champion will sometimes freeze or walk into tower range by itself and I have no control over it. My MS will spike from 6ms to 200++ MS every 10-20 seconds. It will be especially bad in team fights and my champ will just freeze there for like 5 seconds.
I have googled and tried every possible method like

1. Deleting all the files and reinstalling league
2. Clearing DNS cache
3. Clearing %Temp% Files
4. Force stopping all "High" Usage apps
5. Used DNS server 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4
6. Used a wired Ethernet Connection
7. Playing league in Low graphic Settings and no Shadow settings
8. Playing league in Low Spec Mode
9. Playing in DX9 Legacy Mode
10. Playing in Windowed mode. 11.Changing FPS rate to uncapped and unticking "wait for Anti-Aliasing" and "Wait for Vertical Sync"

However the problem isn't fix yet and i'm still lagging. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this lag? Thanks in advance

TLDR
I'm not one to cry when I lose especially since I'm still learning because I've been playing TFT on and off for about six months now. I just had a really cool game where I was first place 100 HP With a win streak that lasted until there were only three of us left. I got lucky with my augments Etc. Then I faced some dude with 10 HP who sold his whole board and bought all gold champions. I couldn't kill one of the champions. My board literally got wiped. When I say I went from 100 HP to like almost 70 in one fight bro it caught me off guard LOL. It threw all my planning strategizing and luck out the window.
Is this patch just a survival until the end game where you can get a roll for Golden champions in the shop? Who thought this was a good idea? Seriously though, I think it's extremely boring to strategize and combine traits and ogments for Champs just to get wiped by a bunch of gold champions who don't even have any synergy.
TLDR. Gold Champs go brrrr
