Will my heat mat work with a thermoregulator?
Hi! So I have an adjustable heat mat and I've been considering buying a thermoregulator to not have to manually turn the knob when the temp changes. Is my heat mat going to work with a thermoregulator? Maybe cranking it on full will work? Or do I have to buy a new one that isn't adjustable

2023.06.01 23:54 twistedracoon [CONTEST] B-B-B-BOOOOOKS (pt6)

Greetings folks! It’s that time of month again!!
For those who didn’t catch this the last few months, I’ve decided that I’m going to do a book-themed contest each month this year! This is the JUNE Edition! Sadly, there will not be a July edition, as I will be at ROTC training for almost the entirety of June and July, and won’t have time to hold the contest. Fear not, as it will most certainly resume in August!!
Each month is going to have some sort of theme, and your job is to find a book that relates to the theme of the month, BUT that also encompasses ALL OF the themes of the previous months.
Now this can be as absolutely random and creative as you want. Make connections that wouldn’t hold up anywhere, compare cats to spoons, whatever you want, just figure out how to connect the things together to explain how the book you want is related to them. Of course, this will get more complicated month by month, so you’ll have to get creative! All of the themes must be included for you to qualify! We’re now at 6 (God help us all) so let’s see what you can do!
• • •
This month, make sure your book is around $10. It can be kindle or a physical copy, whatever you want!
January - Animal(s) 🦘
February - Cold 🥶
March - Sleep 💤
April - Night ✨
May - Fast💨
June - Hot 🥵
This months theme is “hot”, because it’s been 92 degrees outside recently and I don’t have air conditioning. Now again, this can be anything you can relate to “hot”. Be as creative as you want! Connect random sh*t! Have fun with it! As long as you can connect all six things to your book, you’re golden, no matter how random the connections may be!
• • •
  1. Find a way to incorporate ALL OF THE THEMES! Get as creative as you can!
  2. DBAD
  3. If your book is physical, be in the US. If it’s digital, you can be from anywhere!
  4. Have a book under $15 on your list
  5. Have gifted within the last two months (I will check!!)
  6. Have the word “hot” in your response for the randomizer!
Optional; Tag a friend!
Contest will end sometime tomorrow afternoon (6/2).

Advice on mounting ADSB and another omni on rubber roof?
Hi there! Very much apologize in advance for what is likely a commonly asked question. I would really appreciate some help in choosing from a few options related to mounting my ADSB antenna. The two issues I'm facing are lack of confidence in knowing how to work with the current roof covering material, and my desire to pair the antenna with another antenna for receiving ACARS through SDR. I will try to keep the reference to the non-ADSB antenna down to a minimum since this is the ADSB forum.
I have these antennas: FlightAware's 1090 ADSB Antenna and the Airnav Outdoor VHF Antenna. They're both omnis designed to be mounted on a mast.
My dilemma is whether I try to mount them together on the flat roof, which has a fantastically unblocked 360 degree view, or individually using a J mount onto the soffit or fascia next to the house. I'm not familiar with what appears to be some rubber composite covering the flat roof, but in my limited research it appears there are many concerns around causing tears or other damage. I've attached pictures that I hope make it to this post given I've never added pictures before. :)

My idea would be to use this non-penetrating roof mount in conjunction with this 2 antenna U-mount, and then weight the whole thing with sandbags. Does that sound like a reasonable idea? I'd then need to figure out how to get the cables down the angled aspect of the roof and into the attic, but that's a later problem :)
Or as mentioned, if the roof plan is a nonstarter, I guess I get two of the traditional J/adjustable brackets and just use two of them?
Thanks for any ideas or guidance!

2023.06.01 23:54 revanovics Danse invisible in a settlement?

Hey guys,
I am facing a bit of a problem. After siding with Danse in Blind Betrayal he vanished into thin air. (Noone died, I was able to convince Maxson to spare him) I have read somewhere that he should be waltzing around in X-01 after this resolution, but nothing. Curiosly, an optional quest marker showed him in Sanctuary (where he was assigned) to a fix point that was not moving, the marker was levitating in the air. And whenever I modified a weapon the Danse loved/likdd that prompt popped up in the screen, but he was still nowhere to be found. I accidentally finished the quest so the marker is gone, but the prompt still shows up after a weapon modification.
Did anyone run into this problem, is there any solution?

I already tried to soak them in vinegar for 24 plus hours and then scrub it off but this didn’t seem to fully work. Anybody have ideas?
The rust goes away when I turn on the heat. Is it safe to cook on these?

2023.06.01 23:53 Fajaco173 Property management company is trying to evict me, can I use the state of the property as a defense?

We have been living in a rent house in TX for the last year and a half, and the property is owned by a major corp property management company. They are trying to evict us for not being able to pay rent on time, but the reason we are unable to pay is we had to buy 4 window ac units because they straight up refuse to fix the central a/c in the house. We have been dealing with issues the entire time we have lived here, but trying to survive the Texas heat without any kind of a/c was not something we could just roll over and take. In addition to this, we have had multiple electricians tell us that the wiring in this house is not up to code, the foundation is giving out, as it is basically just a double wide trailer placed on pier and beam 40+ years ago, and there is water sitting stagnant in the crawl space causing mold to grow in our walls and making the foundation issues worse. They keep dodging our questions about these issues to ask us why we haven't taken down the trampoline our kids got from their grandparents for Christmas (it does technically violate the lease, I checked, but my wife and I both work 60+ hours a week and I haven't had the time to take it down, nor the heart to take it away from the kids) any advice/help would be appreciated, we go to court next Tuesday.

2023.06.01 23:53 JoshAsdvgi The Fisherman and the Bear

The Fisherman and the Bear

The Fisherman and the Bear

A Maine Tall Tale

One fine day an old Maine man was fishing and fishing on his favorite lake and catching nary a thing.
Finally, he gave up and walked back along the shore to his fishing shack.
When he got close to the front door, he saw it was open.
Being of a suspicious nature, he walked to the door quietly and looked inside.
There was a big black bear.
It was just pulling the cork out of his molasses jug with its teeth.
The molasses spilled all over the floor and the bear rubbed his paw in it, smearing it all over.
Well, the old man was not the timid sort.
He went to the back of the shack, put his head in the window and gave a loud yell.
The bear jumped and ran out the door.
It was running strangely.
The old man saw that the bear was holding up the foot covered with molasses so it wouldn't get dirty.
The bear ran to the lake shore.
Standing on its hind legs, it held up the paw full of molasses.
Soon all the flies and bugs and mosquitoes were swarming all over the sticky sweet paw. Then the bear waded into the water with his sticky paw full of bugs.
It held the paw out over the water.
Suddenly, a big trout came jumping out of the water trying to get to the flies.
The bear gave it a swat and it flew to the shore and flopped there.
Then another fish jumped into the air after the flies, followed swiftly by another.
Every time a fish jumped after his paw, the bear cuffed it ashore.
Soon it had a large pile.
Finally, the bear decided he had enough fish and waded to shore.
The bear had caught a mess of fish any fisherman would envy.
The old man had caught nothing.
He watched that bear eat half a dozen trout, his stomach rumbling.
All he had for dinner was some bread and what was left of the molasses.
Finally the bear paused in his eating, and looked over to the bushes where the old man was hidden.
The bear stood up and laid the remaining fish in a row.
Then it walked away up the shore.
It kept looking back at the bushes where the old man stood.
The old man crept out of the bushes and down to the shore.
Sure enough, the bear had left six large trout for him.
He looked over at the bear.
It was standing at the edge of the wood watching.
"Thanks a lot," the old man called to the bear.
The bear waved the now-clean paw at the old man and disappeared into the thicket.
"Well," said the old man, "That's the first time a bear has ever paid me for my molasses."
The old man never hunted bears again.

2023.06.01 23:51 Charmint2007 Light recommendation for Exo Terra 12x12x18

We have a young crested gecko that's currently in the Exo Terra 12x12x18. It's doing well, eating like a champ, and we are having a great time observing its behavior. We want to introduce a pothos or a bromeliad to the tank, that we are currently quarantining.
The Exo Terra tank has a lid that has a cross member right in the center of it. We are using the small canopy with a night bulb that gives off a lot of supplemental heat as needed. I'd like to have another fixture or light source for the front of the tank for growing plants. The canopy light fixture is taking up most of the back half of the lid. What would everyone recommend for an additional light source, or potentially a two bulb fixture where both bulbs are independently switchable? If anyone has pictures of a similar setup, that would be amazing. Thank you!

2023.06.01 23:49 Character-Cow2577 People are asking for updates. I don’t have any but this is what happened so far

I’m sorry and thank you to everyone who is asking for updates. My heart is just too messed up to make an update. I talked to my husband and told him that his silence treatment won’t do. He told me that he was pissed at me because once I ignored his mom everyone followed suit and she got a lot of heat for “upsetting the bride”.
He said that he knew that his mom would make a speech because he knew her. She wouldn’t change. What he didn’t expect was me handling the situation that way. And not even trying to make things work with his sisters or mom the rest of the evening and next day even though I saw that they were visibly upset. I just ignored them instead. So I left for my parents house that same night.
His mom called me two days ago and she said that she never liked me (she said it was time for her to be honest) I told her that I knew this but that I wasn’t married to her. She said I wasn’t good enough for her boy and how dare someone like me break his heart. She said “I hope he wakes up soon and leaves you and your son”
My husband was here yesterday and I told him everything. He didn’t believe me and said I was exaggerating and that his mom would never say something like this “you must have misunderstood her”, I told him to ask her and she denied it and he believed her.
Then I remembered that my father in law probably heard her say these things over the phone because I heard him in the background so I asked my husband to ask him (my father in law is a good man and wouldn’t lie) only when my husband talked to his dad that he believed me. He was angry with his mom and told her that he didn’t want to have contact with her within the near future and now he is apologizing and asking me to move back but I’m just too hurt right now to think straight. How could I trust him after this?

2023.06.01 23:49 FunkMeisterGeneral64 CPU light comes on after changing CPUs, then stops booting altogether

Let me put this in a timeline-
Last night: friend with more PC experience comes over to help me move from a Ryzen 1600 to a Ryzen 5700. He also moves my graphics card from the lower to the upper slot on the mother board (idk what they're called.) Get everything put back together. PC is turning on, but the CPU light is on too. It's late so he heads home.
This morning: Tried booting it again. Nothing happens.
Noon: Removed the fan and heat sink and inspected the Ryzen 5700. Nothing seems to be outwardly wrong with it. Carefully remove some excess thermal paste with rubbing alcohol. Put new fan and heat sink on that came with the new CPU. PC still boots, but CPU light remains on.
Early afternoon: Removed the new fan, heat sink, and CPU. Put in the old CPU and add the new heat sink and fan back. Now the PC won't even boot. I am still getting a power indicator from the power supply (goes on and off with the power supply switch.)
Late afternoon: Removed the new fan, heat sink and old CPU. Put the new fan and heat sink back on. PC still isn't booting.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? I also did some computer dusting throughout, and I noticed that if I angle the can down it shoots liquid, though I don't think I got any liquid on anything. I also noticed I had trace bits of dried thermal paste on a few fingers, though I looked pretty hard and didn't see any stray paste, nor did I touch anything besides the CPU and some fan cables. Really hoping I didn't just hose my PC by getting something in it.
My other parts:
GA-AB350-Gaming 3 Mother Board
Radeon 580 Graphics Card
Corsair CX550M Power Supply
32g of RAM (2 x G.skill Ripjaws DDR4 and 2 x Vengeance LPX DDR4)
4 TB hard drive (WD Blue)
Samsung SSD (idk how big it is)
The CPU fan and heat sink are AMD, idk what model. They came with the Ryzen 5700.

2023.06.01 23:48 stealthopera Cinnamon Swirl Blueberry French Toast Casserole

By request from a few people in traderjoes. Can be made entirely with stuff you can buy at Trader Joe's, but I definitely recommend their brioche, almond butter, and dried blueberries, because they are top quality and way less expensive than you'd find them elsewhere. It keeps for at least a week, covered, in the fridge, but I've never had it last that long in my house.
  1. Preheat oven to 300°.
  2. Spread the brioche cubes on a sheet pan in a single layer, and toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes, stirring half way through, until golden and toasted but not crouton-hard. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  3. Add 1” of water to instant pot, and set metal steam rack into the bottom. The top of the steam rack should be above the level of the water.
  4. Liberally butter the inside of a heat safe, ceramic casserole dish.
  5. Make the almond butter cinnamon swirl. Whisk together almond butter, cinnamon, coconut oil, and half of the maple syrup (2 tablespoons).
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.
  7. Liberally butter the inside of a heat safe, preferably ceramic casserole dish.
  8. Place half of the bread cubes into the casserole dish.
  9. Top with the almond butter cinnamon swirl. I find this is easiest to do with my hands and kind of sculpt it like PlayDoh, rather than trying to spread it with a spatula and crushing the brioche into crumbs.
  10. Scatter the dried blueberries over the almond butter mixture.
  11. Top with the remaining brioche cubes.
  12. Slowly pour the egg, milk, vanilla, and maple syrup mixture over everything.
  13. Using a sling (see note), lower the casserole dish into the Instant Pot and onto the steam rack. Leave sling in place, tucking the handles between the casserole dish and pot if necessary.
  14. Cover and cook on high pressure for 25 minutes, and manually release when finished. The casserole dish will be hot! Lift it out the pot using the sling.
  15. Cover the top with the chilled, sliced butter, and sprinkle the brown sugar over the butter.
  16. Broil on low for 5-7 minute until the top is brown and crispy, but keep an eye on it! The top can go from caramelized perfection to charcoal in less than a minute.
  17. Remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes before slicing and serving. Reheats beautifully in 30-60 seconds in the microwave for weekday breakfasts. No additional syrup needed, but go for it if you want!
If you don’t own a reusable sling for your Instant Pot, you can make one from aluminum foil. Find directions here:

2023.06.01 23:46 yankpat9 Consolidate Useful Cooking Information

I go back to recipes online (in videos and on websites) to recall various details. Sometimes for the full recipe, but other times for:
I also find myself googling random things repeatedly like:
There’s also times where I feel like I’m lacking inspiration in the kitchen. I usually go back to my favorite creators on YouTube and go “oh yea… I said I wanted to make that after watching the video, but forgot”.
Does anyone else do this? Seems fairly decentralized. Googling, hitting various inconsistent websites, sometimes to find snippets of information.
I’m imagining a place where I could centralize the key information to me. Somewhere where I could create folders of all the information in the kitchen that’s relevant to me so I stop googling all these things.
Maybe it’s an app, a website, a Notion space (with this info already filled out, ready to be favorited to throw it on my personal dashboard)? Maybe I just use my notes app in an organized way.
