2023.04.01 04:24 Khooper803 HELP Stuck lug nut

Went to les Schwab recently and have my tires rotated. Attempting to replace my timing chain and take the tire off and have broken 3 1/2” impact converters trying to remove. I called and they said to have the vehicle towed or they couldn’t do anything. Any ideas on how to remove? And yes I have used two different kind of teeth heads to try and grip and remove and broke the impact converters

2023.04.01 04:24 wetmeatlol Why do some people say it’s not important to torque wheels to spec?

So on my first car I never cared about getting the correct torque on my lug nuts and it never mattered but I have a new car now that goes a hell of a lot faster so when I took the wheels off I made sure to put the lug nuts back on to the factory torque (which was a hell of a lot tighter than I would’ve ever put them on normally) because I figure that’s pretty important. But I’ve seen people, some actual mechanics, say it doesn’t matter to torque the wheels correctly as long as it’s tight. Does it actually not matter and if so why have a suggested torque that’s so tight in the first place?

2023.03.31 21:53 autotldr The GOP Is the Party of Grift — The Republican Party's most dangerous grift today has been their embrace of the lie that America is not a democracy but instead is a theocratic republic that should be ruled exclusively by armed Christian white men. It's leading us straight into the jaws of fascism.

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 80%. (I'm a bot)
Whenever there's another mass- or school-shooting, Republican politicians hustle out fundraising emails about how "Democrats are coming to take your guns!" The result is a measurable and profitable spike in gun sales after every new slaughter of our families and children, followed by a fresh burst of campaign cash to GOP lawmakers.
Republicans stopped enforcement of a century's worth of anti-trust laws in 1983, wiping out America's small businesses and turning rural city centers into ghost towns while pushing profits and prices through the ceiling; in turn massive corporate PACs fund ads supporting Republican candidates every election cycle.
Republicans authored legislation letting billionaires own thousands of newspapers, radio stations, and TV outlets; in turn the vast majority of those papers and stations all run daily news and editorials attacking Democrats and supporting the GOP. - Republicans Trump and Pai killed net neutrality so giant tech companies can legally spy on you and me, recording every website we visit and selling that information for billions; in turn, major social media sites amplify rightwing voices while giant search engines stopped spidering progressive news sites.
The grift is a recurrent theme through Republican presidencies in the modern era.
The GOP has purely been the party of billionaires and giant corporations, although their most successful political grift has been to throw an occasional bone to racists, gun-nuts, fascists, homophobes, and woman-haters to get votes.
Bannon's grift in East Palestine is the smallest of the small, after his being busted for a multi-million-dollar fraud in the "Build the Wall" scheme and others, but is still emblematic of the Republican strategy at governance.

2023.03.31 20:40 Kurupt_Introvert Recommendation solid cap lug nuts for wheels.

I have a 2016 Fusion SE with the stock 18s. Dealership told me I should replace my current ones but they want to charge me like $100+. They said I could buy some and bring them and they would put them on as well, so looking for any recommended options. The point was to give me more surface area.
For reference Ford asked me to do this a few years back but when I swapped my tires at Costco in 2020 it cost me like $20 to replace my OEM ones that were swelling according to FORD in my last location and wanted to charge $130, but now it seems they are asking again but it’s a different dealership.
Thanks

From a Sarajevo War Survivor: Experiencing horrible things that can happen in a war - death of parents and friends, hunger and malnutrition, endless freezing cold, fear, sniper attacks.
Stockpiling helps. but you never no how long trouble will last, so locate near renewable food sources. Living near a well with a manual pump is like being in Eden. After awhile, even gold can lose its luster. But there is no luxury in war quite like toilet paper. Its surplus value is greater than gold's. If you had to go without one utility, lose electricity - it's the easiest to do without (unless you're in a very nice climate with no need for heat.) Canned foods are awesome, especially if their contents are tasty without heating. One of the best things to stockpile is canned gravy - it makes a lot of the dry unappetizing things you find to eat in war somewhat edible. Only needs enough heat to "warm", not to cook. It's cheap too, especially if you buy it in bulk. Bring some books - escapist ones like romance or mysteries become more valuable as the war continues. Sure, it's great to have a lot of survival guides, but you'll figure most of that out on your own anyway - trust me, you'll have a lot of time on your hands. The feeling that you're human can fade pretty fast. I can't tell you how many people I knew who would have traded a much needed meal for just a little bit of toothpaste, rouge, soap or cologne. Not much point in fighting if you have to lose your humanity. These things are morale-builders like nothing else. Slow burning candles and matches, matches, matches

2023.03.31 17:57 blamelessguest123 My Prolon experience (don't read if you're looking for encouragement)

Starting height and weight is 5'2" and 135 pounds. This is about 20 pounds heavier than I normally am because I had a baby a few months ago.
I'm currently midway through Day 5 of Prolon. I've done a lot of different diets in the past, from vegan meal services like Sakara to juice cleaneses. This is by far the hardest diet I've ever done, and by far the worst I've ever felt during a diet. I basically felt like the past 5 days were sick days for me, much of it spent feeling like I had the flu (maybe "keto flu" is what it was).
Day 1 was pretty easy given the amount of food and calories. I hated the soup immediately and had to power through eating them. Without putting them in a blender, I simply did not see how you could keep it from being chunky. The chunks really made me gag.
Days 2 and 3 were absolutely terrible, I felt so fatigued, foggy and unhappy. It really wasn't specifically hunger pangs that I felt -- it was just like major fatigue and brain fog. By mid-day on Day 3, I realized I simply could not eat the soups anymore -- they all tasted the same (I got the new generation with a variety), and even though they don't contain MSG or artificial flavorings, I had this constant taste of like a MSG/fake umami in my mouth from the soups. I decided to switch the soups out for Juice Press vegetable broth, which is pre-made and has 10 calories a serving. Immediately felt great about this choice.
Even when starving, I did not enjoy the crackers or olives or nut bars. There is also nothing actually crispy or chocolatey about the choco-crisp bars. I simply do not understand how anyone finds any of this food palatable.
Day 4 I felt truly terrible and wondered if this was worth it. I had no energy, I hated the little food I could eat, and I started obsessively thinking about all the food I wanted to eat. Suddenly the super healthy, bare bones stirfry my husband makes for dinner looked appealing.
Woke up on Day 5, today, feeling great. Then I ate the nut bar for breakfast as prescribed and immediately felt like sh*t. I wonder if it kicked me out of a fasted state and made my blood sugar spike or something. Since I ate that bar about 5 hours ago, I have felt just as fatigued as the days before. I'll power through today, but this has been a pretty sh*tty experience.
On the upside, I weighed myself this morning at the beginning of Day 5 and I've lost 7 pounds. I'm sure most of it is water weight, but even if 1.5 pounds of it is real fat, this will be worth it... but only barely.
I will get through this day, but net-net, I wonder if many of you aren't smarter doing a DIY version of this simply because all of the foods were absolutely disgusting to me. I'm not someone who is generally picky about foods either.
Sorry this is such a bummer but wanted to share my perspective because most of the posts I've read about Prolon seem to demonstrate some kind of upswing in energy or focus or something... I didn't experience any of that. I found it overall super depressing to feel terrible 24/7 (compounded by bad sleep every night) and also hate the food I'm eating. I wonder if the Prolon diet really works for everyone... I honestly felt like the food kept kicking me in and out of a fasting state and I would've probably ended up better off in a consistent fasting state. It's possible the veggie broth I substituted for the soups mid-day on Day 3 contributed to me feeling not great, but I don't think I would've felt any better eating those nausea-inducing soups.

2023.03.31 15:41 unthused Replacement lug nut size for wheel spacers?

I've had hubcentric spacers on my Z for over a decade; doing a brake/rotor change last night, one of the lug nuts that came with them was seized and rounded off, but a couple auto parts stores I checked did not have the right kind. They are open ended and shorter than the stock Z lugs, and I *think* they are also a different socket size. Photo
Just making sure I get the right one, I had to put everything back on in order to make it to work this morning.

2023.03.31 10:16 moistyGG Feeling real down about myself and my confidence continuing to modifying this car...

This is all in regards with my previous post of my new CravenSpeed Intake Kit. I can plug anyone the link that hasn't already seen it but I recommend going to look at it first, just to notice my excitement for the first mod; Previous Reddit Post
So after all the discussions on the last post. I ultimately decided to try and throw it on today with it being vastly known around the community as a 'pretty easy modification' and a 'good beginner mod', with reviews that make me thoroughly feel that it's going to take me 30 minutes maybe an hour max. Given that I have zero background with a car except watching my fair share of car Youtubers and car builds.
I totally fucking failed. I was at the last piece of the instructions, getting the last brace on that connects the back of the heatshield to my battery cover. However, somehow that shit wasn't set up right and I had to physically force the heatshield closer to the battery by pushing it up against it and attempting to screw the hub bolt lug into the bolt itself going through the heat shield. For clarification; Instructions and steps 18 and 19 were where I was at when I got festered and dropped the lug nut into my engine bay so it now sits deep down in there enough I can't reach it. At this point I was three whole hours into the installation. I was diagnosed with ASD as a first grader, so it's "We tard, you tard, r*tard nation" type deal here, but I honestly felt like a r*tard. This looked so simple and yet I was having such a difficult time when taking out the OEM kit was so simple to me. Then placing the CS kit in there felt way too tight so I was nervous, it took me so long to get it into the rubber notches that hold it in place. I got so fed up with the whole situation that I hammered out the whole where the button-head screw goes into the battery cover (I know probably not my best idea tonight) but the amount of self-embarrassment was pity enough to myself.
I'm willing to stay up all night just to have this accomplished because lately I haven't been doing much with my life and really just need a "win" for ol' Ben so I can feel good about myself actually achieving something I never saw myself doing in the first place. The original plan was to wait for 'Daddy' to come help. Instead I was like fuck it-I'm a grown ass motherfucker, I have to learn how to do these things on my own, but of course I shit the bed with the first modification I do. Should have just started with the Chassis Braces... Thanks for any help you can provide but honestly just needed to vent to my favorite group of people. Thanks guys for letting me share my utter failure tonight, we'll get em' next time.
