Being part of the Decentralized Finance movement, STDNT is a blockchain-based form of finance that does not rely on central financial intermediaries such as brokerages, exchanges, or banks to offer traditional financial instruments, and instead utilizes smart contracts on blockchains. This eliminates the need for any intermediaries or arbitrators. The code specifies the resolution of every possible dispute, and the users maintain control over their funds at all times.
2018.06.27 12:03 Shirco THE NEW ECOSYSTEM ANSWERING TO YOUR DECENTRALIZED PROJECTS
A new smart contract environment remote from the blockchain but certified by it: a blockchain focusing on confidentiality, combined with smart contracts applications. SGAT smart contracts certify enforceability; they are entrusted in a private entity with the prerogatives of blockchain technology. This online service will serve as trusted third party and will be adaptable to many sectors via predefined or custom templates.

2023.06.07 11:46 Jolemz What the heck was this guy doing?
I work for a corporation in IT. We had a guy we'll call Milo working for about 5 years as a Linux Engineer. He had a certification from a few years ago that was three Linux versions behind what we are using. At this company, an engineer title makes significantly more money than the rest of us "advisors" or "seniors". Anyway, I've worked here almost two years on the Linux team. Interacting with this guy about work was difficult. He couldn't stay on work-related subjects. Most answers were how he doesn't know something, then has a story that goes with why or how he doesn't know. Or it was stories about the good old days of floppy drives and DOS, then he would talk about going to Jamaica a few times a year for vacation.
Here are some examples of incidents over the last year or so: * He made a scheduled task on a server using the wrong password for a service account, then he was tasked to figure out what keeps locking the service account, and he said he has no idea but is able to spend 2 months on the project. * He was tasked to do some code modernization on a list of scripts that do certain functions. He said he wanted to re-write them in the Ruby language. After 3 months the scripts were useless - he copy/pasted some of the content in each script so the files were bigger, and the date was updated but could not be used. * He "worked from home" and was assigned documentation for our systems. He had old documents and was told what to update and was sent diagrams to insert into the documents - the docs were saved to make the date change, and no other modifications were done. * Destroyed a server with a "find" command - easy to do, it was a rookie mistake, but this guy is holding the position of Linux engineer. He either didn't own up to it, or he sincerely didn't understand what he did. * Tasked to create role-based access control for identity manager for our network. Not simple, but he is an engineer so this should be the level of his day-to-day job. After 8 months, zero progress was made on this. We had our network inspected by a vulnerability team. It was discovered that an unauthorized person could make accounts for people. The team said role-based access control should be set up to prevent this. * When patching was done, he never did follow-ups to ensure everything restarted if needed or if services were intact after a restart.
We have a requirement to have the latest Linux certification. Milo said he was really concerned about this because he passed version 5 a few years ago after taking it 4 times, and he didn't know how he passed.
Management knew about his activities or lack of, and they shuffled him from manager to manager with low ratings every review he got. No one had done the paperwork to fire him until our manager did. It turned out that he had three years of things like this happening, so I only saw a small slice.
When his name is brought up to other people on our team and other departments, there are similar stories of his destruction. I've asked around, and he didn't talk to anyone else about Jamaica, that was just me. I'm wondering if it was just to keep me off task or distracted for some reason.
My big question is just why? Was he actually incompetent and we were getting 100% of him always, or was he just doing things to waste time at work to go home?

2023.06.07 11:39 KameraTaylor Unlocking the Power of Standing Desks: A Path to Enhanced Productivity and Well-being
In the modern age of sedentary lifestyles and office work, finding ways to improve productivity and prioritize our health has become paramount. One solution that has gained significant attention is the
standing desk. This blog post explores the extraordinary benefits of incorporating standing desks into our daily routines, delving into how they can revolutionize our work experience and contribute to overall well-being. Discover the key advantages of standing desks and unlock the potential for a healthier and more productive work life.
Elevating Productivity and Focus: Imagine a workspace where you effortlessly maintain focus and achieve peak productivity. This is precisely what a
sit stand desk offers. By providing an adjustable height feature, these desks allow for seamless transitions between sitting and standing positions. This simple change promotes better blood circulation, heightened alertness, and increased engagement throughout the day. Furthermore, by reducing sedentary behavior, standing desks help combat the mid-afternoon energy slump, leading to improved overall output.
Prioritizing Physical Health: Incorporating movement into our daily routine is vital for maintaining physical well-being in the face of sedentary work. Standing desks can be a game-changer in this regard. By encouraging regular periods of standing, they help alleviate the negative effects of prolonged sitting, such as back pain, neck strain, and poor posture. Additionally, standing promotes muscle activation, core strength, and increased calorie expenditure compared to sitting, fostering weight management and overall fitness.
Nurturing Mental Well-being: Our work environment plays a significant role in our mental health. Standing desks have been shown to have a positive impact in reducing stress levels and enhancing mood. The physical act of standing triggers the release of endorphins, the "feel-good" hormones that boost spirits. Moreover, the ability to
adjustable height desk to personal comfort levels fosters a sense of autonomy and control, creating a positive work environment that contributes to overall mental well-being.
Designing an Ergonomic Workspace: Creating an ergonomically sound workspace is crucial for preventing work-related injuries and promoting long-term health. Standing desks play a pivotal role in establishing such an environment. With their adjustable height settings, they allow users to find the optimal alignment for their bodies, reducing strain on the neck, shoulders, and wrists. Furthermore, investing in specialized standing desks, such as L-shaped models, offers ample workspace and enhances multitasking efficiency, optimizing productivity while maintaining a healthy posture.
Unleashing the Potential of Electric Standing Desks: For ultimate convenience and adaptability,
electric standing desk is a fantastic choice. With the push of a button, these desks effortlessly adjust to your preferred height. This feature is particularly advantageous for individuals with mobility constraints or varying preferences throughout the day. Electric standing desks offer a seamless transition between sitting and standing, allowing you to focus on your work while reaping the numerous health benefits they provide.
Integrating standing desks into our workstations has the potential to revolutionize our productivity and overall well-being. By allowing for fluid shifts between sitting and standing, these ergonomic workstations enhance focus, physical health, and mental well-being. Whether you opt for an adjustable height desk, an
L shaped standing desk model, or an electric standing desk, the possibilities for optimizing your work routine are limitless. Embrace the transformative power of standing desks and unlock your full potential while maintaining a healthy and harmonious work-life balance.

2023.06.07 11:38 CTIC23 5 Tips for windows command and control
If you want to delete al of the commands you put, you need to type the command: cls
If the Cmd(command and control) don’t allow to put a command, run the program with the administrator perms.
If your cmd it’s slow, you will type the command: ipconfig /flushdns .
(This tip it’s like a rule of use for the cmd)
If you use cmd you shouldn’t do stupid things, because are ilegal.
If you want to program with cmd, you must use other programs like the note pad or visual studio code, because cmd its just for commands and it’s not prepared to program.

Upgrades- Armor only, no shields or cannon
Jacob's Loyalty- don't do
Miranda's Loyalty- do, but side with Jack in their argument
Zaeed's Loyalty- do after SM, choose Paragon route, leave Zaeed to die
Kasumi's loyalty- Do, either choice is fine
Mordin's loyalty- Do, choose to destroy Maelon's data
Garrus' loyalty- Do, don't let him kill Sidonis
Jack's loyalty- do, manipulate her into killing Aresh.
Grunt's loyalty- don't do, in fact, leave him in the tank until just before the SM
Tali's loyalty- do, incite the crowd or choose the persuade/intimidate option, resolve her argument with Legion either fairly or in her favor (if you resolve it in her favor, remember to apologize to Legion later to regain his loyalty)
Samara's loyalty- do, choose Samara
Thane's loyalty- do, but fail the tailing
Legion's Loyalty- Do, Rewrite the Heretics
I originally wanted to sell Legion, but him not being present lead to the death of either Mordin or Tali during the hold the line segment, and come on, their tragic deaths in 3 are much worse than selling Legion.
Unlike other "max casualties" runs, you do NOT have to wait 3 missions before the suicide mission, but me wanting some characters to survive means I don't need death at every opportunity, and the crew can just die of no escort instead.
--Suicide Mission--
Bring Kasumi and Tali with you to fight the Oculus, Thane and Garrus will die.
(Any ME2 death is the worst ending for Thane, Garrus will die because the cannons failed, imagine not getting hired by Shepard after asking, and then 2 years later when they do bring you on board you die thinking you failed at your job)
(You MUST bring Kasumi and Tali, or else they'll die here instead.)
Send Kasumi to the Vents, choose Miranda as the First Fireteam Leader
(Kasumi dies doing the job she was likely brought on to do in the first place, and Miranda may begin to question her skillset.)
At this point all the crew except Chakwas will have become alien Gatorade, but Chakwas still needs to get to the Normandy. Send no one.
(There really wasn't anyone who's worst ending lied in dying here, except Grunt, but he needs to be the Second Fireteam Leader or someone else may die in a "non-worst" way.)
But we still need a Biotic Specialist, choose Miranda. For your two squadmates, bring Jacob and either Mordin or Tali.
(Jacob, Miranda's closest friend on the team, will die because of her own failure.)
Send Grunt out as the Second Fireteam Leader. He was made to be the perfect soldier, I'm sure he'll make it out fine, right..?
(Wrong! This death was tied with Crew Escort for worst, but for reasons I specified already on Crew Escort, I chose this one.)
At this point, your survivors will be:
Miranda (1 point), Zaeed (3 points) Mordin (1 point), Jack (1 point), Tali (1 point), Samara (2 points), Legion (4 Points)
This is a crew with an astronomically low hold the line score, so here's what we do:
First of all, BRING MIRANDA. This is her only opportunity to die in ME2, and her death in ME3 is far from her worst (dying saving her sister).
That leaves one of the loyal 1 pointers as our second option, the average of 4, 3, 2, 1, and 1 is 2.2, meaning no one left behind will die.
So, for your squad, bring Miranda and anyone I listed as being worth 1 point.
After the suicide mission, do Zaeed's Loyalty, and get him killed through the Paragon route.
Important choices: Be a dick to the Virmire Survivor, Destroy the Collector Base, make sure you have low materials (easily done by running out of fuel repeatedly), don't do any side quests
--ME3--
This is where all the ME1/2 survivors get killed off.
Mordin- Sabotage the Genophage, shoot him
(He regretted making the Genophage, when he went to undo his regret, he was shot dead by his own commander.)
Wrex- Will automatically die after Priority: The Citadel 2, due to how Mordin died.
(While this death takes longer, I don't think I need to examine why it's worse)
Virmire Survivor- Neither Thane nor Kirrahe will be around to save the Salarian councilor, and you've been a dick to them these last 2 games, once you meet them in the Cerberus Coup, shoot them dead.
(Shot by their ex-lover who also cheated on them.)
Jack- Don't do Grissom Academy
(Jack grew up being abused by Cerberus, then they're saved by Shep, who then manipulates them in the very place they were abused before, and then Shepard consciously decides to ignore saving the place where Jack happens to be stationed, leaving them to be kidnapped by Cerberus and letting the abuse come to an end through brainwash.)
Tali- Side with the Geth
(While this death already sucks, what's even worse is you had Tali's back up until now, helping her with her Pilgrimage and siding with her during an argument on the Normandy, so seeing you suddenly switch up must be even worse on her. Even even worse if you don't take the Paragon interrupt to at least try and stop her suicide.)
Samara- Let her shoot herself, then kill her last daughter immediately afterwards
(Don't think I have to explain why this one is terrible)
Legion- Always dies in 3
(Again, wanted to sell him, but couldn't)
James & Liara- Low EMS final run
(This is as much their worst death as it is their only death.)
Now, that leaves us with the ending, while renegade control is the worst overall imo, this is about making life suck for squadmates, not making life suck for everyone, so we choose destroy to check Edi off the list.
Final Deaths: 18
VIrmire Casualty (Swarmed by Geth)
Virmire Survivor (Shot by Shepard)
Jacob (Failed Biotic Specialist)
Miranda (Crushed by Debris in Collector Base)
Zaeed (Betrayed During Loyalty)
Kasumi (Failed Vent Specialist)
Mordin (Genophage Sabotage)
Garrus (No Gun Upgrade)
Grunt (Failed Fireteam Leader)
Jack (Turned into Phantom)
Tali (Suicide)
Morinth (Samara's Loyalty)
Samara (Suicide)
Thane (No Shield Upgrade)
Legion (Forced by plot)
James (Crushed by Mako)
Liara (Crushed by Mako)
Edi (Shutdown by Crucible)

2023.06.07 11:15 sosteachers Can Casinos Control Results and Payouts on Slot Machines?
| Can Casinos Control Results and Payouts on Slot Machines? Playing slots online has its advantages. These games are random and don’t require much skill, yet they offer big prizes. However, many players are unsure about how these games actually work. In the beginning, I was wondering if casinos can secretly control the outcome and cheat them out of their winnings. So, I decided to do a quick research to answer this question. If you play online slots with your crypto or fiat money at a licensed and audited casino, you can trust that the game is fair and the results are random. However, it’s important to take a look at how slots work and whether or not the casino can control them. This way you can have a better idea of the slot gambling mechanism. How Do Casino Slot Machines work? Casino Slot machines have come a long way since the first one was created in 1895. The original machines had spinning reels with symbols on them. When the reels stopped, matching symbols would result in a jackpot prize. Today’s slots are different, using computer programs and codes instead of mechanical reels. How Online Casino slot machines work? Modern slot machines, whether online or offline, use a technology computer program called Random Number Generators (RNGs) to determine the outcomes. The RNG constantly generates random numbers that represent symbols or game results. These outcomes are not influenced by previous results or any external factors. For online slots regulated by gaming commissions, the results are linked to a central system that tracks the game’s payout and win rate. This ensures that the reported Return to Player (RTP) percentages are accurate. Other online slots are regularly checked and audited by licensing boards to ensure fairness. This type of online casino is the most reliable because they care about their reputation more than money. Can Casinos Control Slot Machine Results and Payouts? Can Casinos Control Slot Machine Results and Payouts? So, can online casinos control slot machine odds, results and payouts? Yes, they can. Some casinos may rig a slot machine to only give small wins. However, licensed casinos have reasons not to do this. Casinos risk losing their licenses and facing heavy fines if they tamper with the software or RNG. Licenses are valuable and help establish trust with players. It wouldn’t make sense for a casino to jeopardize its license for extra profit. Casinos already have a set profit from all bets, thanks to the house edge. The house edge percentage represents the profit the casino keeps from all bets. The RNG is programmed to factor in this percentage. Therefore, casinos have no reason to rig the system in their favor. Slot developers also follow laws and guidelines set by regulators. Their games and RNGs are checked and verified for fairness. Developers protect their programming code to maintain their reputation and prevent tampering. A casino’s reputation is crucial, and negative reviews or experiences can harm it. Trusted casinos want to attract and retain players, so they focus on providing fair games and offering bonuses and rewards. Which Casinos do I recommend for Fair Casino Play? You know, you can try 22Bet, PlayAmo, Vave.com and more… The most important thing is check the license number of every casino and make sure that everything is legal and official. I had the opportunity to try Vave.com a licensed project endorsed by the world snooker champion, Judd Trump. Their games are developed by Pragmatic Play, the leading provider in the gambling industry. Also, the casino has some exciting bonuses and promotions. For example, it offers 110 free spins in slot games after registering with their promo code: VAVEVIP Conclusion: While casinos have the ability to control slot machines, trusted and licensed casinos have no incentive to do so. Choosing a reputable casino ensures that you can play without worrying about being cheated or misled. PS: Feel free to check out the original article in case you want to gather more details about this topic. 2023.06.07 11:15 Aleph-INDIA626 Entities Required to epr Registration For Plastic Waste
| Plastic waste management has become a pressing global issue, demanding immediate attention and effective solutions. In India, the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regime was introduced as a crucial step towards ensuring responsible handling and disposal of plastic packaging waste. The EPR framework places the responsibility on producers, importers, and brand owners to manage the life cycle of their plastic products, including recycling, re-use, or proper end-of-life disposal. To streamline the implementation of EPR, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in India has mandated the registration of these entities on the centralized EPR portal developed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Entities Required to EPR Registration For Plastic Waste The EPR registration process on the centralized EPR portal applies to the following entities: - Producer: Manufacturers of plastic products or packaging materials are obligated to register for EPR certification. This includes entities involved in the production of plastic items and packaging materials, irrespective of their scale of operation.
- Importer: Importers of plastic products or packaging materials are also required to register for EPR certification. This ensures that even imported plastic items are subject to responsible waste management practices.
- Brand Owner: Companies or individuals owning the brand under which the plastic products or packaging materials are marketed are responsible for EPR registration. Brand owners play a critical role in ensuring the proper disposal and management of their branded plastic items.
- Plastic Waste Processor: Entities engaged in the processing of plastic waste, including recycling, waste-to-energy conversion, waste-to-oil processes, and industrial composting, are mandated to register for EPR certification. These processors play a pivotal role in ensuring the sustainable handling and treatment of plastic waste.
Responsibilities of Producers, Importers, Brand Owners, and Plastic Waste Processors Under the EPR regime, the registered entities have several responsibilities to fulfill: - Proper Waste Management: Producers, importers, and brand owners must take responsibility for the effective management of their plastic packaging waste. This includes implementing recycling, re-use, and appropriate end-of-life disposal methods such as co-processing, waste-to-energy, plastic-to-oil, roadmaking, or industrial composting.
- Compliance with Guidelines: Registered entities are required to adhere to the Guidelines on Extended Producer Responsibility for Plastic Packaging, as notified in the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. These guidelines provide a framework for sustainable plastic waste management practices.
- Reporting and Documentation: EPR registrants must maintain proper records, submit regular reports, and document their waste management activities. This ensures transparency and accountability in the handling and treatment of plastic waste.
Benefits of EPR Registration The EPR registration process offers several benefits to both the environment and the registered entities: - Environmental Conservation: By implementing effective waste management practices, EPR registration contributes to the conservation of the environment, reducing the harmful impact of plastic waste on ecosystems and natural resources.
- Compliance with Regulations: EPR registration ensures compliance with the Plastic Waste Management Rules and relevant guidelines, enabling businesses to operate within the legal framework and avoid penalties or legal consequences.
- Sustainable Brand Image: Demonstrating a commitment to responsible waste management enhances the brand image of registered entities. 2023.06.07 11:15 servostabilizer_12 Considerations for Selecting and Installing Servo Voltage Stabilizers in Industrial Environments
2023.06.07 11:12 Omaha-Media-Group Stay Ahead of the Game with 2023 Omaha SEO Trends
| Omaha Search Engine Optimization is a dynamic field that calls for adaptability. As 2023 approaches, it will be crucial to monitor the developments that will shape the future of search engine optimization. Companies of all sizes, from those well-established with websites to those just starting started, would do well to observe industry trends. Mobile optimization, local search, visual search, and voice search are among the Omaha SEO trends that will be discussed in this article. Relax with a cup of coffee as we discuss how to remain ahead of the curve in one of the most dynamic cities in the United States. Relax with a cup of coffee while we discuss how to remain ahead of the curve in one of the United States' most dynamic cities. Voice Search's Explosive Growth According to SEO Experts in Omaha, voice search is expected to explode in 2018. In order to keep up with the growing prevalence of smart speakers and digital assistants, business owners must increasingly consider optimizing their content for voice search. Unlike more conventional text-based queries, voice searches are conversational and more precise. Voice search users are typically searching for answers to very specific questions; therefore, businesses must provide instantaneous results. If you want your website to rank higher in voice searches, you should provide content that addresses frequently asked concerns in your industry. Due to the rise of voice-activated mobile search, you must optimize your website for mobile use. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize long-tail keywords over brief ones. By using structured data encoding, you can improve your site's chances of being selected as a Google-featured snippet. If businesses want to keep up with the rapidly changing digital environment, they must prioritize enhancing their SEO strategies with voice-search-friendly tactics. Tendencies within Search Engine Optimization Even just a few years ago, search engine optimization (SEO) strategies may not have been as effective as they are today. Traditional SEO techniques, such as keyword cramming and link exchanges, are becoming increasingly ineffective in the current competitive online environment. This decline may be caused by the increasing complexity of search engine algorithms. They are now able to identify businesses employing ineffective and antiquated methods. As a result, websites employing these techniques may experience a drop in search engine rankings or even disappear entirely from search engine results. Similarly significant is the development of voice-enabled search engines. As more individuals utilize voice-activated search assistants such as Siri and Alexa, websites that rely on keyword targeting are losing ground. Instead, websites should prioritize providing answers to frequently asked queries in a conversational tone. If a company wishes to achieve SEO success, it must attentively monitor trends and adjust its strategy accordingly. Consequently, it is essential to invest time and effort in content creation, link building (especially through natural means), and mobile/voice search optimization. In this way, businesses can simultaneously expand their online presence and serve their core customers. Expanding Search Engine Optimization for Mobile Devices Now that so many people use their mobile devices to browse the Internet, it is essential to optimize websites for mobile access. Your website must be optimized for mobile search as the number of people using mobile devices to access the internet continues to rise. For mobile-friendly SEO, page launch time is crucial. Page load time for mobile devices is a factor in Google's ranking algorithm because users have come to expect prompt responses. The loading time of a mobile page can be reduced by compressing images and eliminating unnecessary code. Responsive web design is another important aspect of mobile SEO. It is crucial, therefore, that your website appears great on a wide variety of screen sizes. Thanks to a responsive design, customers can view identical content on their mobile devices, tablets, and desktop computers. In recent years, the importance of indexing for mobile device optimization has also grown. When determining a site's search engine rankings, Google now prioritizes a site's mobile version over its desktop version. Improving a website's efficacy on mobile devices should be a top priority for any business that wishes to maintain a competitive advantage. You must optimize for mobile SEO if you want to be discovered by individuals using mobile devices to search for goods and services. Why Local SEO Is So Essential Local search engine optimization should be a top priority for any company seeking to attract more local customers. Utilizing mobile devices and voice search has made local searches increasingly significant for both consumers and businesses. Best Omaha SEO Companies allow businesses to zero in on specific regions, which is one of its primary advantages. By emphasizing its products and services, a company's website may rise in the search engine rankings for related localized keyword queries. By increasing a company's visibility in local search results and online directories such as Google Maps, local SEO aids in the expansion of its online presence. Thus, potential customers can swiftly and easily locate a business's contact information (including address, phone number, business hours, and reviews). People and search engines will respect and trust you more if you use the same information across all of your online profiles. If Google believes that your website is trustworthy, it is because it contains exceptional content. Spending time and effort on Local SEO in the Omaha region raises your company's visibility among people actively pursuing the products or services you offer. Conclusion The optimization of websites for search engines is a rapidly evolving industry. In the future years, Omaha and the surrounding area will likely experience a number of the aforementioned changes. As a business proprietor or marketer, staying abreast of these changes is crucial to ensuring that your SEO strategies remain effective. submitted by Omaha-Media-Group to u/Omaha-Media-Group [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 11:09 Tylandord M/24 the road to self improvement is a long one, but I hope it's worth it.
I am not providing any advice nor condoning any mental health decisions made without the supervision and council of medical professionals. This post recounts my struggles with involuntary suicidal ideation but does not encourage, condone, or glorify self-harm.
If you're in crisis, go to the ER, call emergency services, or a crisis hotline. There are people who can help.
So my journey with mental health and various diagnoses is long, and I feel that sharing my multiple diagnoses and their timelines is essential to my story. That said, I'll try to be brief (no promises).
I seemed like a relatively normal kid until around the age of 3. I was difficult to potty train (I have memories from that time, which was traumatic for me and my mom). I believe this is due to my ongoing struggles with interoception. My family was also concerned about my delayed speech development. I am the youngest of 24 grandchildren and was often doted on as a child. For years my family just assumed that my development was delayed during that time because everyone did everything for me and that I lacked any need to speak for myself or toilet train because people spoke for me and found that changing me was less of a fight than trying to deal with outbursts with potty training. Then, I suddenly went from hardly speaking to one day speaking in complete sentences far beyond what other children my age could.
By age 4, my parents felt I was hyperactive and unruly. My dad, being a pharmacist, thought I should see a pediatric shrink to see about some stimulants as he had been diagnosed with ADHD and was hoping to get me treatment as early on as possible.
For the most part, nothing changed until I was 12. By this point, my family and I had spent the better part of 7 years jumping from stimulant to stimulant to control my seemingly uncontrollable nature. It was at this point in time that we decided I should have a complete Neuro-psych evaluation. At this time, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, bipolar tendencies, and dysgraphia, but not ADHD. I was put on enough Seroquel to tranquilize a horse and gained 40 pounds in about 4 months.
It took me a long time to learn to accept this diagnosis as a kid, and I didn't want to be seen as the "kid from Parenthood" or as Rainman.
At age 14, I was hospitalized at a pediatric psych ward for 9 days. I wasn't keeping up with the medications I had been prescribed (pretty sure it was bupropion), which caused violent mood swings. I was struggling. I was relentlessly bullied for my lack of social skills, being overweight, and effeminate demeanor. I was called every homophobic and neurodivergent slur, often in front of faculty. My peers would throw rotting food at me on my walk home from school. I had no friends and had lost all hope in the public school system. It got to the point where I decided to take matters into my own hands as I felt that the adults could no longer protect me in this environment.
I now know there were better ways to handle my situation and that I had more options at my disposal, but nevertheless, I chose to say something that would ensure that I would never have to return to public school ever again. The school district learned of the negligence from the staff, and my expulsion was lifted. I would be allowed to return to school the following year. In the meantime, I was to attend class at the district office with a personal instructor, away from my peers (thank god).
My mom decided to investigate various private schools for kids both exclusively on the spectrum, and more broadly affected by various neurodivergencies. I shadowed these schools and attended each one for a week. I concluded that their resources would be wasted on me as I knew other kids needed their services more than I and would feel guilty if I took that from someone who needed it more.
After attending these schools, I decided it was up to me to learn to adapt to the world around me, and I dove into teaching myself social skills, masking techniques, coping skills, healthy living, and mindfulness. I returned to in-person instruction after earning my GED at 17 and immediately proceeded to college.
At 17, I had another evaluation completed to fulfill the accommodation requirements at a community college. At that time, I was then diagnosed (by the same clinician) with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Dysgraphia. My psychiatric team now lacked the bipolar suspicion, as they believed those symptoms, at age 12, resulted from a poor home life.
And to be honest, until I turned 19, I was fine. I had been unmedicated without issue since I was 16. I was working at the college bookstore during rush week, I got a student-elected job as a club liaison, my grades were good enough for me, and I learned to buckle down when needed. I had grown, made friends, finally found myself at a healthy weight, got involved with student government, and "become popular," and while I wasn't the most dedicated student, I was progressing. I felt proud of myself.
That would all soon change. After beginning to doubt my decision to study physics (as many people had told me that it would result in more debt than I could afford and likely working in IT/CompSci like every other physics Ph.D. wannabe). I decided to change majors to Data science and move away to a full-fledged university. I hated my studies and struggled with large classrooms. I moved in with two other students who were complete strangers in an apartment off-campus. My eyes had been opened. I was not ready. I struggled with time management, public transportation, and social isolation. And then, before I knew it, I would be hit with perhaps the most distressing symptom I've ever experienced.
Disclaimer: The following paragraph contains my experiences with involuntary suicidal ideation and visual OCD. Its purpose is to shed light on my experience with mental health. It is by no means a glorification of, or encouragement to attempt, any form of self-harm. I will not go into graphic detail about what I saw and continue to see, as it is unnecessary and potentially triggering to others.
This is when the symptoms, which I now understand to be visual OCD, began. I would start to see the aftermath of my own demise regularly. At first, I would attempt to reason it away. After all, I'm happy, intelligent, and more emotionally aware than ever. But the flashes of horrific imagery continued to become more graphic and frequent, causing me to become increasingly distressed by the day. I didn't want to die, so how could I be seeing these things? It got to the point where I didn't know what to do. I was at my wit's end and felt like I was losing my mind.
I decided to see a campus NP once I had begun to fail all my classes, and he very abrasively diagnosed me with Bipolar Depression and ADHD, concluding that I was never on the spectrum. I got a medical withdrawal, my term was refunded, and I felt like a failure. I would then go on to take my classes online the following semester, but as my grades began to slip and with little hope for a brighter future, I withdrew again.
I would then dive head-first into a relationship with another man to run from my problems. I moved almost 1500 miles away from my family to be with him, and I had hoped that if I ran fast enough, my problems wouldn't keep up. This flawed thinking blinded me from the issues within the relationship and encouraged me to ignore red flags about my now ex-partner.
At 22, after trying to ignore my visual OCD for the better part of 3 years and missing the glaring issues, I finally fell into the most profound depression of my life. Despite trying online education again (and barely meeting my credit requirements), I was constantly ill, depressed, and often unwilling to get out of bed. My relationship had been falling apart since we had moved in together, and I had grown tired of running away.
My ex-partner was unexposed to mental health struggles before being with me, and rightfully assessing that it was not his responsibility to be my caretaker, he gave me an ultimatum. Either I do something about it or go home and let my family take over. I decided to try a few medications I had been on in the past based on my mom's best recollection of what was most effective growing up. No success.
Six months later, I finally came clean about the hallucinations/flashes when my best friend took her own life. I couldn't risk keeping this secret any longer if I was to have any chance of making it. I had to persevere. For myself, for my family, for her.
By this point, I had been on almost every class of drug used to treat mental illness, excluding MAOIs and tricyclics. I needed something different and fast.
That's when I learned about ketamine infusions for depression from my mentor. He encouraged me to go to a clinic and see if they felt I was a good candidate. I was, and it's the best treatment I've ever received. I'm fortunate that I can afford it with the help of my family's financial support.
I had found relief from the visual OCD and gained clarity regarding my relationship. Over Thanksgiving of 2022, I broke things off with him and moved back in with my folks. I have been continuing my treatment here, and my new psychiatrist finally revealed that I have OCD, ADHD, and ASD. He also told me that depression and anxiety are accessories to these other issues.
My treatments have been helping more than anything has in the past. But now more than ever, I feel like I'm still struggling with the fallout of the last 5 years. I think I've wasted precious time and let naivety dictate my decisions for far longer than reasonable.
I've been enrolled in online school for the last year and a half in a program I love, but I've lagged behind. Lacking the motivation to continue and feeling ill-equipped to confront the road ahead of me, I'm stalling.
I know I'm bright, but I feel it's unearned when people talk about me in high regard. I don't feel I've accomplished anything when I complete a course ahead of schedule. I don't feel happiness in success, and I struggle to carry out my goals.
I'm still struggling to take care of myself. Keeping my surroundings clean and organized, maintaining a consistent sleep schedule (even when practicing seemingly perfect sleep hygiene), bathing myself, socializing with others, and managing my time all feel like ginormous tasks on their own (let alone maintaining all of them simultaneously).
I often wonder... "What happened to me?" "I was doing so well." "How did things get to this point?" "I want things to go back to how they were."
The last 6 months have been the best I've been in 5 years, but it's still hard. There's so much to do, so much to relearn.
When I returned to my home city, my friends had all moved on. I tried to make new friends by joining a league at a local pool hall (billiards is a passion of mine), but I couldn't make a good connection with any of them. The things I used to love, like video games, mountain biking, billiards, music, scripting projects, and drawing, are all met with anhedonia.
I'm seeing a therapist, and it's helping some, but I still feel like cogs and gears are missing from my clock. Pieces are missing from the puzzle. I feel unwhole. I want to live up to "my potential" and have something to feel proud of, but I feel anxious and self-conscious whenever I pursue an activity. I want to do things again.
Part of me wonders if I even have the proper diagnosis, if there's something we still don't know about. I have a hard time trusting that mental health professionals that diagnose and prescribe can help me anymore because they've all had a different idea of what I have, with no new ideas for treating my mental illness.
I keep trudging along, trying to find joy in the process, but I can't help but feel the weight of the tasks ahead. I know results-based thinking isn't sustainable, but when you feel like you're stagnating in the process, it's hard not to feel hopeless for the years to come.
I'm not suicidal, but I'm beginning to question what all this is even for. I'm unlikely I'll ever find complete relief from my symptoms. Life is probably going to keep being hard. I'm just hoping that one day all this work and dedication will pay off, the other shoe will drop, and I'll finally find meaning and joy in life.
Until then, I'll keep persevering with the ebbs and flows, trying to maintain whatever kind of good habits and routine I can until I feel comfortable enough to try adding something new.
Hopefully, this post doesn't get flagged, as I actually found typing this out pretty therapeutic. We aren't alone in our struggles.
There's hope out there... I think. Maybe not now, but hopefully, the page will turn, and the sun will shine for a brighter tomorrow.
Edited for improved reading clarity.

2023.06.07 10:56 Revolutionary_Ball24 I cant sleep
I filed my 187th job application in the past 10 months. I was active duty until dec 2021. I've had close bouts with taking my life, as it seems ever since my initial career was taken from me from things beyond my control. I just don't deserve life.
Around me are dead end jobs and no real ways to get a career. Just the "join here, get enough to maintain your debt, and stay here." I've been fighting to get into college to pursue a Ph.D in Physics since I was a preteen. I even graduated highschool early.
Though I've hardly been treated as a human being, I don't have fond memories outside of old romances, actually not many of mine ended bad.
I was robbed of my education and fought hard. I was interjected and interrupted in every pathway and brought down and held back by my parents. Even pushed to more bouts while having my life threatened by people who were supposed to be there for me. I've had no friends that have ever respected me. Just those who use my extensive studies and skillsets I have spent my life honing in my hermitage.
Honestly, I don't mind being alone, or helping others. But I had my future taken from me, and I've always worked really hard, studied even harder. Always remained disciplined and remembered the ancient things that bring me my faith.
Though I think the world has decided.
This is my last attempt to try, and I suppose to die young should be a blessing.
I can't sleep, knowing my fate resides on this last rejection, or my potential in being allowed to continue.
I have had 186 people tell me the same things, and hundreds more say the same set of things in just meaningless manifestations of samsara. An insane cycle without a change in results. All the while, I'm not jealous in watching them speak down as they earn from their given opportunities from the past. I just look the the night sky and wonder where my honour and worth went.
The only conclusions are: I've become an untouchable Or I'm worthy of walking The Way (Tao)

2023.06.07 10:55 purple_Slate Differences between Conversational AI and Generative AI
| Artificial Intelligence (AI) has witnessed remarkable advancements in recent years, revolutionizing various industries and aspects of human life. Within the AI domain, two prominent branches that have gained significant attention are Conversational AI vs Generative AI. While both these technologies involve natural language processing, they serve distinct purposes and possess unique characteristics. In this blog post, we will delve into the world of Conversational AI and Generative AI, exploring their differences, key features, applications, and use cases. What is Conversational AI Conversational AI, as the name suggests, focuses on facilitating natural language conversations between humans and AI systems. It leverages technologies like Natural Language Understanding (NLU) and Natural Language Generation (NLG) to enable seamless interactions. Conversational AI services possess several key features and capabilities that enhance conversational abilities: Speech Recognition - Conversational AI systems incorporate advanced algorithms to convert spoken language into textual form.
- Enables them to understand and process user inputs in the form of speech or voice commands.
Natural Language Understanding (NLU) - Conversational AI relies on sophisticated NLU techniques to comprehend and interpret the meaning behind user queries or statements.
- By analyzing the context, intent, and entities within the user’s input, Conversational AI can extract relevant information and formulate appropriate responses.
Dialogue Management - Conversational AI systems employ robust dialogue management algorithms to maintain coherent and context-aware conversations.
- These algorithms enable the AI system to understand and respond to user inputs in a natural, human-like manner.
Natural Language Generation (NLG) - Conversational AI systems employ NLG techniques to generate human-like responses in real time.
- By leveraging pre-defined templates, machine learning models, or even neural networks, these systems can generate contextually appropriate and meaningful responses to user queries or prompts.
Conversational AI Applications - Virtual Assistants: Conversational AI powers popular virtual assistants like Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, and Google Assistant, which provide personalized assistance and perform tasks based on user commands.
- Customer Support: Many organizations deploy chatbots and voice bots powered by Conversational AI to provide automated customer support, handling common queries and guiding users through self-service options.
- Language Translation: Conversational AI can facilitate real-time translation between different languages, breaking down language barriers and enabling global communication.
- Voice-controlled Interfaces: By integrating Conversational AI into devices and systems, users can interact with them through voice commands, enabling hands-free control and enhanced accessibility.
What is Generative AI Generative AI, on the other hand, focuses on creating new and original content using machine learning algorithms. It harnesses techniques such as deep learning and neural networks to generate realistic and creative outputs. Let’s delve into the key features and capabilities of Generative AI. Content Generation - Generative AI models have the ability to create diverse forms of content, including text, images, music, and even videos.
- By analyzing patterns and structures in the training data, Generative AI can generate new content that aligns with the learned patterns.
Creative Versatility - Generative AI is known for its creative versatility, as it can produce unique and novel outputs based on the data it has been trained on.
- The ability to generate original content that exhibits creativity and diversity makes Generative AI a powerful tool in various creative domains.
Learning from Data - Generative AI algorithms learn from large datasets to improve the quality and diversity of the generated outputs.
- By training on extensive and diverse datasets, Generative AI models can better understand the underlying patterns and generate more realistic
What is the Difference Between Conversational AI and Generative AI Conversational AI and Generative AI have many differences which range from objective to application of the two technologies. The very core difference between conversation AI and generative AI is that one is used to mimic human conversations between two entities. The other is to generate new and different types of content. ChatGPT for example uses both conversational AI and generative AI. Difference Between Conversational AI & Generative AI Conclusion In summary, Conversational AI and Generative AI are two distinct branches of AI with different objectives and applications. Conversational AI focuses on enabling human-like conversations and providing context-aware responses, while Generative AI focuses on content creation and generating novel outputs. Both technologies have unique features and capabilities that contribute to their respective domains and play crucial roles in advancing AI applications. But did you know that both are not mutually exclusive? There are applications of Generative AI in the world of chatbots. Intrigued to know how it will function? 2023.06.07 10:42 FalseCogs Will, soul, manifesting, and retrocausality
There are some areas where I remain confused about
conscious wavefunction collapse or other models of personal
agent causation. And there are some concerns I have about the moral sensibility of certain assumptions.
Definition of terms
- Will is the tendency of a material or causal set or subset in the absence of external influences or constraints. The scope of origination, or causal inclusion, of said set is up for debate.
- Want is synonymous with will.
- Soul is the originator of some portion of the will manifested in the behaviour or effective outcome of the body or its surroundings.
- Manifesting is the non-physical or untraceable causal efficacy of will over matter or over wavefunction collapse.
- Retrocausality is chronologically backward causality, or future affecting past.
- Magical thinking is a type of thinking characterised by loose causal inference, or more specifically loose or bleeding boundaries between mental objects and or their associated affect (emotion). An example would be the mental coupling of proximate but functionally unrelated events, such as the coincidence of certain thoughts and events, or certain numbers and outcomes (superstitious thinking).
Agent scope, or delineation of will
Imagine a balloon filled with air. Consider each part -- the rubber and the air -- as two separate entities. Each on its own has certain will. And these wills oppose. Yet when taken together as one
composite entity, new will emerges. This may be written as follows, where brackets denote material or causal set, acting as an agent:
- [rubber] wants to contract.
- [air] wants to expand.
- [rubber + air] wants to find and maintain equilibrium.
In the same style, we may consider
undue influence: - [person] wants uncoerced action.
- [undue influence] wants something else.
- [person + undue influence] wants coerced action.
- [coerced action] - [uncoerced action] = [undue action].
Role and function of soul
We may thus assume that if bodies have souls, then the will as expressed by the body is that of
[soul + body], or
[soul + animal instinct + conditioning]. With this in mind, what is the nature or will of
[soul]? What aspect or portion of will derives from the soul? What does it want on its own, independent from the body and the body's natural inclinations?
Many people have claimed that only humans have souls. Seemingly the main differences in terms of will between humans and other animals are that:
- Humans are usually of higher intelligence, able to devise more complex instrumental plans;
- Humans are often obsessed with social hierarchy and other symbolic pursuits;
What difference, or portion of difference, does the soul provide?
Many worlds and quantum collapse
One seemingly popular proposition is that the soul is connected or synonymous with consciousness, and that consciousness effectively chooses which of many worlds one ends up in by controlling quantum wavefunction collapse. About this proposition I have some questions:
- If consciousness chooses the world, then does that mean the soul, or "real you", is in only one such world?
- If so, does your body in the others become a philosophical zombie or NPC?
- If not -- if you end up in all such worlds -- then how is the soul choosing anything?
- In the case of NPC yous, if each "real person" ends up in only one world, then would that entail statistically that everyone else in your chosen world is likely a zombie?
Sensibility of assumed manifest
There is a phenomenon known as the
just world hypothesis, where people assume that good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people. As a corollary, the presence of good fortune may be taken to indicate good character, and vice versa for bad fortune. But is this belief sound? Do chaos and chance not play a part in one's fortune? Are there not immoral behaviours that result in personal gain at the expense of others?
The idea that one's personal soul or consciousness chooses the world seems similar to the just world hypothesis. If one could manifest the future this way, or perhaps even manifest the present through retrocausality, then surely one is morally responsible for the hand one receives -- or so the assumption of conscious manifest may go.
This type of reasoning may be the result of
magical thinking, or loose inference, mixed with the desire to feel in control over random events. For example, one may surmise, "I
received this hand, and I
want this hand, therefore [retroinference] I received this hand
because I want it". Yet when the wanted state of affairs fails to manifest, one may deflect with "I didn't really want it that much" (rewriting the past) or may blame its failure on outside interference. Moreover, this style of attribution can easily be applied to other people, particularly those with lesser fortune -- "they didn't care enough" or "their soul wasn't worthy".
Those in positions of power have historically used very similar logic in the form of
divine decree, predestination, or similar -- where their position was ordained from above, thus legitimising any fortune, and offloading blame for any resulting harm.
When conscious manifesting and the just world hypothesis are embraced, moral reflection becomes unnecessary. Harm and failure can easily be dismissed by lack of care, or by divine desert -- "you can't
disprove these positions, so there's nothing wrong with hurting people, as long as
I benefit".
Those who stand to gain from past luck or future exploitive intent have plenty of reason to deny the role of randomness, or the harm in exploitation. But there is at least one argument that may be made. This is to compare the long-term viability and success of systems based on opposing sets of causal assumption. One key, however, is to adjust for inter-group exploitation and interference. For example, it would be fallacious to conclude that morality is undesirable since the more exploitive entity -- at the expense of the more honest entity -- had greater gains. The very nature of morality, after all, is about
group happiness -- the more inclusive and reliable, the better. Yet operating under the just world hypothesis and the assumption of conscious manifest is among the most selfish, status-quo-maintaining things to do.
With that said, obviously it can be challenging, or even infeasible, to falsify a negative -- such as to prove there are not individual souls. But is it better to operate under selfish assumptions, or is it better to have compassion? Do groups that believe in souls and conscious manifesting do better, or do groups that believe in soulless causation do better? Which makes a happier world?

Hello dear community, so the macbook keeps crashing when either waking up from sleep or when I restart it also kind of gets stuck and says did you restart because of a problem. The log above is after restarting. Can anyone imagine what the problem might be? I contacted apple, they told me they dont have any clue what it can be other then an app which causes the problem.
Thanks in advance :)
PS: Sorry for the big code block, I didn't see any option to fold it in

2023.06.07 10:39 M1730193 I feel sad about my life. What should I do?
Dear brother and sister, I hope you can spare some time to read my story and offer advice. I assure you it won't take more than 10 minutes.
I am a 28 year old man currently living in Jordan.
In 2012, I completed the tenth grade but made a regrettable decision to leave school. Being a teenager, I wasn't making the best choices. I started working in various places like stores, restaurants, and factories. When I returned home, I would play online games on my computer with other players. This continued until the end of 2014.
In February 2015, due to my addiction to online games, I became curious about game programming. I started exploring the field, including game and website programming. In 2017, I focused on learning Android application programming, which I continue to do till this day. I stopped playing games three years ago. I worked on a freelance platform for Arabic clients, developing Android applications and fixing customer app issues. I completed work for 47 clients, with 95% positive reviews, thanks to God.
In 2019, problems entered my life when I fell ill with perfectionism. You may ask what perfectionism is. You can find information about it on YouTube in Arabic and English.
Let me continue my story. In 2019, I fell ill with perfectionism. Whenever I tried to start a new programming project, I couldn't finish it because I wasn't satisfied with the code. I would delete the entire project and start again, hoping to write better code. But every time I failed, even though the code worked correctly, I felt it should be rewritten to appear cleaner than before.
In 2021, I closed my account on the freelance platform because I realized my perfectionism was causing significant problems. I knew I would receive negative reviews if I continued working in that state.
In 2022, I found an advertisement from a company seeking a programmer to develop an application. At first, I hesitated due to my perfectionism, fearing failure. However, I eventually contacted them and received the project. The deadline was two months.
While working on the application, I procrastinated as usual, searching for perfect ways to write the code. Unfortunately, I couldn't deliver the project on time, which caused problems with the company owner. I was threatened, and I had to rewrite the code without focusing on perfection, but rather on making it functional. I finally delivered the project after three months instead of two.
In 2023, I took a wrong path and had three illicit relationships with women who were paid for their services. The first relationship was in January 2023, the second during Ramadan, which was a grave mistake, and the third was a week ago.
I used up all the money I earned throughout the years on these women, and now I have no money left. I only have two Jordanian dinars in my pocket. I have no more money and I'm financially ruined.
Recently, I have been experiencing symptoms such as fever, nighttime hallucinations, muscle pain, and a sore throat. I am concerned that these could be potential indicators of a medical condition, including AIDS, which is causing me distress. Regrettably, I am unable to afford the cost of a medical test or even cover transportation expenses, which may amount to approximately 15 Jordanian dinars.
No one in my family or relatives knows about my problems. They only see me as a failure, even the closest ones. I suffer from severe depression, and I fear things may worsen. Maybe this is divine retribution?
I've been praying regularly since I was young, but without sincerity. Three days ago, I tried to humble myself in prayer and repent to God, but I feel like a hypocrite instead of being genuinely sincere. It feels as if my heart has died due to the many sins I've committed. I've tried desperately to repent sincerely, but to no avail.
I had hoped to work in my field and build a family with my future beloved wife in the Gulf or America. However, I'm now filled with despair. I'm at a loss for what to do, especially with the nightmare of AIDS haunting me.
My advice to you, my brother and sister, is to never follow the path of the devil. It only brings momentary pleasure followed by a lifetime of regret.
I kindly request the admin not to delete this post, as it would be the greatest favor they could do for me.
I kindly request that you provide respectful comment to ensure that this discussion is conducted in an elegant manner, without resorting to personal attacks or treating me as if I were a criminal. Thank you for your understanding.

2023.06.07 10:31 nappingdave Country Codes on Catalyst 9800 Controller
Hi Everyone,
I have a question regarding the Country Codes on the new Catalyst Wifi Controllers. Right now we are planning to replace our old AirOS Controllers. We have to support 30 small to medium sites worldwide. My colleagues are unsure if we enable all the country codes on the main controller, that the controller will support only the infersection of the frequencies that are available in all chosen country codes. Shouldn't the AP just use the allowed frequencies in the country it is configured to use? I found little to no documentation on the first try. Does anyone know a bit more about this?
Thanks for your help guys.
