If you would like to be kept up to date with the upcoming lists, please subscribe to my newsletter by clicking this link. I don’t send out letters too often, pretty much once a month when this list goes out… and occasionally if I release a book or something. As always, this is not a comprehensive list, but only includes all the books I have heard about so far. If you have a fantasy novel you are self publishing in June or beyond, let me know by filling out THIS FORM, and I shall add it to the page. There are but 3 requirements: 1) It must be a self published fantasy novel. 2) It must have a Goodreads page. 3) It must have a cover. -- 1st June – The Pyres of Vengeance (Swords of Dominion #2) by N.C. Koussis Epic Fantasy, Grimdark After losing everything she knew, Selene struggles to keep hope alive. Terrifying threats from the capital test her in ways she never thought possible. Richter can’t destroy himself or the corruption that lives in his body. He won’t let anything stop him from his mission, though – to kill every other werewolf on the Continent. The Order of the Golden Sword cares not for the laws of men. They’ll do anything to wipe the lycanthrope haven of Palerme from existence. But no one has ever faced an army of werewolves before. Goodreads -- 1st June – Tristan’s Regret (The Return of King Arthur #3) by Jacob Sannox Urban Fantasy, Sword & Sorcery, Historical Fantasy In the 5th century, Tristan and Isolde are at the mercy of the scheming Morgana Le Fay, who seeks to undermine King Arthur’s alliance with Cornwall. The consequences of their actions echo down the centuries and, in 2021, Arthur, Tristan and the Knights of the Round Table desperately hunt the last remaining followers of Malagant, an immortal ally of the dead sorceress. Will Arthur finally live up to his own legend, and can anything put an end to Tristan’s regret? Goodreads -- 1st June – The Exile of Zanzibar (Railroad to Zanzibar #1) by Daniel Maidman Epic Fantasy, Historical Fantasy Claire built a device to fold space and time. It had a flaw… When the smoke clears, she finds herself halfway across the world, thousands of years in the past, and no device in sight. In bronze-age Florence, war has lasted for generations. All Claire wants to do is get home, but she’ll need help from the locals. She wins an ally in Marcus Diophantus, a pickpocket turned soldier turned general, who hopes to turn into something more than just her champion. Together, they broker peace between Florence and its enemy. If Marcus is going to help Claire, he’ll have to survive. Peace has upset the balance of power in the capital city. The king stands increasingly alone against: the Constantines, a commercial enterprise as much as a clan, who aim to profit from peace as they have from war – the warrior nobles, descended from the founders of Florence and quick to turn against a weak throne – and Reburrus, the high priest of Florence, convinced Claire answers to hostile foreign gods. As the city comes to a boil, Claire and Marcus – and Marcus’s formidable army – will have to decide where their allegiance lies. Claire becomes a reluctant participant in a savage campaign. While Marcus leads the battles, she tries to gain control of the unimaginably powerful Ctesiphôn – a ghost tower in the heart of Florence, shrouded in magic and myth. Goodreads -- 1st June – Captain (All that Glitters #2) by Shalaena Medford Grimdark, Gaslamp Mere weeks have passed since Tsingsei “Song” Gould’s world fell into ashes. Now she must accept her role as captain of the Stars’ Bounty. The crew returns to the skies to do what they do best: piracy. They travel the world, visiting new countries and finding an adventure wherever they go. In the frigid south, Song finds there are answers to her questions about kijæm…with a caveat. In the trading country, she gains confidence in her notoriety. In the exotic west, she makes a terrible mistake. However, one of Song’s dearest friends has become a wanted man, and they must find a way to free him of the price on his head. Will she commit the highest crime in the world, or will she lose him to the gallows? Goodreads -- 1st June – Buzzard’s Bowl (Tragedy of Cedain #2) by John Palladino Epic Fantasy, Grimdark Cedain continues to collapse. Ashmount’s destruction shatters the Magicai while the culprits responsible continue sabotaging the world. All the while, the next season of Buzzard’s Bowl begins and Edelbrock, in his constant fight for survival, desires a vengeance he can only find in the arena. Seradal and Villic find themselves in the middle of a war between Remeria and the Camel Clans, and may end up on opposing sides, while the threat of Calrym looms over all of them. At the behest of the woman he loves, Demri finds himself thrown into the Elkavich, a not-so-secret order of Magicai who are intent upon fixing the world. Ashen, a former urchin rescued by a noble with selfish aspirations, works to dismantle the nobility of Calrym. Death is assured to all who walk the world, the only unknown is when they will perish. Goodreads -- 1st June – On Winds of Ruin (The Deimachy #2) by Lincoln Law A friendship betrayed. An unfamiliar land. The winds of ruin blow. Roisin is still reeling from events at the end of A Crown of Blood. She feels lost, broken and alone in the world. Torn with what to do next, Roisin chooses to make the fateful trip across the Skybinder border into enemy territory in the hopes of gaining new allies for the fight against the Soulmongers. At her side is her fox companion, Vulpo; the last of the Bloodsingers, Mei; and a Skybinder of questionable allegiance named Giack. However, Roisin’s actions draw the attention of the Skybinder nobility, entrapping her into political machinations with deadly outcomes. Piritta, newly reborn Soulmonger, is tasked with the search for the final member of the Soulmonger Triumvirate to lead the army to victory. And Kaori, leader of the Soulmongers, is given her own task, granting her more power than she could have ever imagined. The choices these young women must make will tear them apart, fracture them all, leaving cracks for something darker to seep in. And in the end, only the one with the strongest resolve will endure. Goodreads -- 1st June – The Nameless Restaurant by Tao Wong Urban Fantasy, Cozy Fantasy There is a restaurant in Toronto. Its entrance is announced only by a simple, unadorned wooden door, varnished to a beautiful shine but without paint, hidden beside dumpsters and a fire escape. There is no sign, no indication of what lies behind the door. If you do manage to find the restaurant, the décor is dated and worn. Homey, if one were to be generous. The service is atrocious, the proprietor a grouch. The regulars are silent, brooding, and unfriendly to newcomers. There is no set menu, alternating with the whim and whimsy of the owner. The selection of wine and beer is sparse or non-existent at times, and the prices for everything outrageous. There is a restaurant in Toronto that is magically hidden, whose service is horrible, but whose food is divine. This is the story of the Nameless Restaurant. Goodreads -- 4th June – Gold, Lock and Key (Grimdark Fairytales #1) by E.J. Doble Grimdark “All it needs, is a bit of tenacity… and three little bears.” Goldie, an outlaw and contract hunter of the Baron’s State, accepts a new assignment from her employer to find an old cabin in the woods, home to three ‘shapeshifters’ who can morph into bears. Considered to be little more than a myth, Goldie assumes at first that the shapeshifters are an exaggeration – but with the sizeable bounty her employer is offering, she soon realises there may be more truth in it than she realised. And that isn’t the only thing on her mind: she discovers her main rival – a manipulative and incredibly cunning trapper named Southey – has also taken on the contract, and will be contending for the same bounty she so fervently desires. Having waited many long years to have her revenge and outsmart Southey for past mistakes, Goldie sees the new contract as a perfect opportunity to do so. All she has to do is play her cards just right. And kill three bears… Goodreads -- 4th June – Waybound (Cradle #12) by Will Wight Progression/Cultivation, Epic Fantasy Years ago, Lindon left his home as a powerless Unsouled. Now, he goes to war with the most powerful beings in the world over the future of Cradle itself. The Weeping Dragon has a grudge to settle, and Lindon intends to take out the Dreadgod with his friends by his side. But rival Monarchs know his plans, and they won’t let things end so easily. If Lindon does win, he will ascend to the heavens. But he may not find a safe haven there either. In the worlds above, Suriel and Ozriel face off against the Mad King to determine the new shape of the cosmos. The victor will decide the fate of countless universes. Whether he wins or dies, Lindon will soon leave this life behind. Goodreads -- 6th June – Champions of Light (The Light Series #1) by Althea Damgaard Epic Fantasy Rhoanda runs away when her father betrays her trust by arranging her marriage without telling her. She had freedom to be herself, unlike her sisters, but in the end, she should have expected this. Winter still hangs on in the mountains, unlike the beach she left, and it could be another month until the pass to the west opens. Her funds run out and the city guard catches her stealing. Instead of a cell, they take her to the Cathedral of Light, which rivals a fortress. There she learns the truth about the Light while trying to hide who she really is. Her parents, who embrace the Dark, have the power to take over the mountain kingdom and could use her as the excuse to do so. Sergeant Vern can’t shake his desire to drink nor his anger at the Lord of Light for the disease that crippled and killed his sister at a young age. The cathedral lets him work with the class of deviants under his alias, but time is running out. The worse spring thaw of the century arrives and despite the great Cathedral of Light, the Dark has found a deep root in the kingdom. Worse, prophecies of the spiritual war manifesting in the physical come true as a mural changes before their eyes and its images step into their lives. Vern needs to accept the truth that sets him free of the curse cast upon his family so he can step into his true role. A truth that his sister professed about the Light through all her pain unto her last breath when angels took her home. Will their faith in the Light be enough to overcome their trials and save a kingdom? Goodreads -- 6th June – imPerfect Curse (The imPerfect Cathar #2) by C.N. Rowan Urban Fantasy I’m exhausted. Done in. Needing a stiff drink and about a week’s sleep. But that’s not going to happen. Because Franc is dying, struck by a curse placed on him by the Sistren Of Bordeaux, one of the most powerful groups of Talented in France. And because of our deal, it’s on me to find out what the hell is going on, and how Franc has offended the Sistren. Apart from by simply existing, of course. Except a simple trip to Bordeaux turns into a living nightmare as the past comes back to not just haunt me but to kick me square in the nuts, and I’m sent to the one place no Talented ever wants to go. Eager to discover his origins, Laila travels from her idyllic seaside realm into a land of unspeakable horrors, relying on her wits to survive her journey. She arrives aiming to establish peaceful contact with the aid of the besotted prince. However, it becomes clear that the heartless demon king does not desire peace at all, only war and conquest. Meanwhile, all pirate Captain Marik wants is to keep to the skies, take his due, and care for his crew. Then a straightforward pillaging mission on a ship of fresh academy students leads to betrayal from one of his own and an unlikely friendship forged by necessity. Goodreads -- 17th June – Molten Flux (Flux Catastrophe #1) by Jonathan Weiss Epic Fantasy, Sci-Fantasy As the freshest conscript aboard the walking fortress of Revance, Ryza forges a name for himself in battle. His prowess with a rifle draws the interest of the Locusts, a clandestine faction within Revance’s ranks. It turns out that not all aboard the fortress seek to stamp out the plague of molten flux, the mysterious liquid metal that fills the bodies of the dead and makes them walk again. Some seek to profit. The reanimated corpses —known as autominds— are used to control enormous contraptions of magnetically enchanted metal, forming the backbone of The Droughtland’s factories. The only thing stopping the smelters from expanding their illicit industry is Revance. The Locusts make Ryza an offer. Either help overthrow Revance to do the smelter’s bidding or reveal his father’s legacy as the very thing Ryza now fights against. The former is unthinkable. The latter means death. Ryza resolves to infiltrate them and expose the mutiny, plunging him back into the murky underworld of the smelters, testing his convictions, and even leading him to the ancient origins of molten flux itself. Except now Beatrice has gone missing, leaving Jen alone to face the shadowy organization and its 11 members by herself. Goodreads -- 21st June – Hierachy of the Unseen by B. Pigeon & Fell A. Marsh Epic Fantasy Demons and humans are locked in endless struggle. This is an intrinsic fact of nature. The demons believe their salvation lies in bleeding humanity of the life-force called light, while the humans are equally determined to defend it. Within the sprawling empire of Lu-nevet, the two sides have settled into an uneasy peace, employing less violent tactics. But this peace can only hold for so long. The state religion of Lukeira sends devout demon hunter Mitzli deep into the borderlands to bless the victims of demonic pranks. Once they arrive, however, they find unexpected signs of violence. They team up with irreligious hunter Veleiry to investigate—and the destruction the two uncover is an ominous sign of what’s to come. Meanwhile, shiftless demon Kor falls under the scrutiny of his vampiric commander, Mant—meaning he must actually do the work of tormenting humans, rather than taking credit from his now-ex-partner Yez. Slowly, he begins to realize that the demons’ strategy is shifting, and may be heading down a path he cannot follow. Mitzli and Kor will have to betray their respective factions if they want to put an end to the violence before it escalates. 2023.06.07 11:21 _____keepscrolling__ Today (June 7th) is a trauma date of sorts for me, it was extremely painful and complicated as a kid, as I was alone with it; as an adult now, am I going about today correctly? Any thoughts opinion are greatly appreciated, I don’t want to be alone with this anymore.
Today (June 7th) has been a difficult day for me since I was about 11, it is an associated trauma date from extremely painful and strong emotions I associate with my longest disassociated memory gap. I didn’t want to explain this to my T because I didn’t want to give it more power than it already has on me and has for so long, I just wanted to try and skate by today without thinking about it. I used to go through so many rituals every June 7th, there was so much fear and helplessness and an attempt to escape from filth and dirtiness(association around sexual stuff) all the time, but on June 7th it felt like life or death. Wherever I was at 2:36am(technically June 8th) during the night of June 7th was a filthy place, anything I heard, did, tried or ate in that day and surrounding days would be added to the associated filth forever.
I thought everything as a kid and teen was dirty but one thing I’ve realized in therapy is that actually I was dirty and made everything feel filthy; wherever I went would become rotten over time by my mere presence(that sounds bad but it’s actually a healthy realization for me, as it makes me face that this wasn’t outside of myself). All of this association was so strong I would start to become depressed starting in early spring by the looming feeling that it all has, the association of humidity and becoming sweaty and the sounds of bugs at night to name a few would just bring me down with all these emotions. I try not to give all this power by just ignoring as best I can but I still feel this pit in my stomach and this horrible inescapable guilt about all of it. I’m good at detaching from my emotions and I’m good at telling myself whatever I need to think or feel in order to get through things. That’s one way I would handle growing up in an abusive environment. The other way is I dissociate and forget things very quickly. I try to use all of that to combat this by just trying to cut off from it all and try not to remember anything year to year because if I did I would associate that thing and where I was with all of these horrible feelings.
I’m 25 and it just hasn’t escaped me. I’ve remembered a lot in therapy, my T is a trauma specialist and it’s trauma therapy, I’ve remembered being physically abused, that as a matter of fact is where the dissociation started, I’ve also remembered being icky gross abused at the age of 9. This is different than those things. These things I haven’t faced yet because it’s like remembering and seeing them through a fish eye lens looking outside of myself, it’s sufficiently distant 90% of the time until it’s not and I start reacting or just shutting down.
I don’t really know what to ask for, but this is the first time I’ve talked about this so openly, especially on the date itself. I’m trying to make today as normal as possible in order to not give it all that much power. Maybe even try and replace some of the associated emotions with more positive or constructive ones. Even now with what I’ve already talked about, I’m trying to be contained about it all and not react, but it’s gnawing at me as it always does.
I don’t know if any of this makes sense, but I would really appreciate some input, feedback, support etc. I don’t want to feel alone anymore with this.

2023.06.07 11:19 scuba_steve757 34 [M4F] US - Looking for a friend that could one day be a partner
Hi all. I've posted in here a few times before and I've met some wonderful long distance connections. I'm posting again in hopes that I can find a friend who will one day become a romantic partner.
About me.....I'm 34, married to the love of my life for almost 11 years, and we have 2 wonderful kids and 5 terrible cats together. I have a stable job and I own my own house. We are both pretty new to being poly (within the last year or so) and I have been on a journey since to discover what poly really means for me. I was in a semi-long distance relationship recently and it didn't work out so well, but live and learn.
My hobbies are fleeting. I do enjoy touching grass occasionally. I like walking, playing basketball, playing golf, going to the beach and taking pictures of nature. I recently tried snowboarding for the first time up in the mountains of West Virginia and it was awesome. I also don't mind staying in, playing games on my switch or computer and binge watching shows.
I'm also on a bit of a weight loss journey as well. I'm not fat by any means, but I do have a bit of a dad bod. I've lost about 20 lbs in the last months or so via intermittent fasting, and I'm trying to my my body back to how healthy it was in my early 20s (marriage does that to a fellow).
What I'm searching for in a partner? I'm not really picky at this point. Just be around my age and be engaging and interesting. I would eventually like to meet in person at some point, but I'm perfectly content having a long distance thing while we establish a friendship and get to know each other.
I know this post is pretty long, but thanks for reading, and if anything I wrote sounds interesting, please don't hesitate to send a chat request and we can see where it goes.

There is reason for that and it’s not what many “patriots” would have you believe. We’ll break down how to “redeem your money” so that it does not qualify as income (via the use of private credit) and even divulge how to remove your SSN (only for those who hold ANY sort of religious belief in anything) from your W-2s so there are no withholding or SSI taxes. Believe it or not – there are only 4 times you are required to have a SSN: to obtain a driver’s license, to register a vehicle, for tax matters, to obtain public assistance. 2023.06.07 11:09 Tylandord M/24 the road to self improvement is a long one, but I hope it's worth it.
I am not providing any advice, nor condoning any mental health decisions made without the supervision and council of medical professionals. This post does contain a recount of my struggles with involuntary suicidal ideation, but does not encourage, condone, or glorify self harm.
If you're in crisis call emergency services, or a crisis hotline. There are people who can help.
So my journey with mental health and various diagnosis is a long one, and I feel that sharing my various diagnoses and thier timelines is somehow important to my story. With that being said, I'll try to be brief (no promises).
I seemed like a relatively normal kid until around the age of 3, I was difficult to potty train (I actually have memories from that time and it was very traumatic for both me and my mom). I believe this is due to my ongoing struggles with interoception. My family was also concerned about my delayed speech development. I am the youngest of 24 grandchildren and was often doted on as a child. For years my family just assumed that my development was delayed during that time because everyone did everything for me and that I had lacked any need to speak for myself or toilet train because people spoke for me and found that changing me was less of a fight than trying to deal with outbursts with potty training. Then, I suddenly went from hardly speaking at all, to one day speaking in full complete sentences in a way that was suddenly far beyond what other children my age were capable of.
By the age of 4 my parents felt I was hyperactive and unruly. My dad, being a pharmacist, felt I should see a pediatric shrink to see about some stimulants as he himself had been diagnosed with ADHD and was hoping to get me treatment as early on as possible.
For the most part, nothing changed until I was 12. By this point, my family and I had spent the better part of 7 years jumping from stimulant to stimulant in an attempt to control my seemingly uncontrollable nature. It was at this point in time that we decided I should have a full Neuro-psych evaluation. It was at this time that I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, bipolar tendencies, and dysgraphia, but not ADHD. I was put on enough Seroquel to tranquilize a horse, and I gained 40 pounds in span of about 4 months.
It took me a long time to learn to accept this diagnosis as a kid as I didn't want to be seen as the "kid from Parenthood" or Rainman.
At age 14 I was hospitalized at a pediatric psych ward for 9 days. I wasn't keeping up with the medications I had been prescribed (pretty sure it was buproprion) which caused violent mood swings. I was struggling. I was relentlessly bullied for my lack of social skills, being overweight, and my effeminate demeanor. I was called every homophobic and neurodivergent slur there is and it often happened in front of faculty. My peers would throw rotting food at me on my walk home from school. I had no friends and had lost all hope in the public school system. It got to the point where I decided to take matters into my own hands as I felt that the adults could no longer protect me in this environment.
I now know there were better ways to handle my situation and that I had more options at my disposal, but nevertheless, I chose to say something that would ensure that I would never have to return to public school ever again. The school district learned of the negligence from the staff, and my expulsion was lifted. I would be allowed to return to school the following year, in the meantime I was to attend class at the district office with a personal instructor, away from my peers (thank god).
My mom decided to investigate various private schools for kids both exclusively on the spectrum, and more broadly affected by various neurodivergencies. I shadowed these schools and attended each one for a week. I concluded that their resources would be wasted on me as I knew there were other kids who needed their services more than myself and would feel guilty if I took that from someone who needed it more.
It was after attending these schools that I decided it was up to me to learn to adapt to the world around me and I dove into teaching myself social skills, masking techniques, coping skills, health living, and mindfulness. I didn't return to any in person instruction until I earned my GED at the age of 17, and immediately proceeded to college thereafter.
At 17 I had another evaluation completed to fulfill the accomodation requirements at a community college. At that time, I was then diagnosed (by the same clinician) with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Dysgraphia. My psychiatric team now lacked the bipolar suspicion, as they believed those symptoms, at age 12, were the result of a poor home life at the time.
And to be honest, until I turned 19, I was fine. I had been unmedicated without issue since I was 16. I was working at the college bookstore during rush week, I got a student elected job as a club liaison, my grades were good enough for me, and I learned to buckle down when I needed to. I had grown, made friends, finally found myself at a healthy weight, Igot involved with student government, "become popular" and while I wasn't the most dedicated student, I was progressing. I felt proud of myself.
That would all soon change. After begining to doubt my decision to study physics (as I had been told by many people that it would result in more debt than I could afford, and likely working in IT/CompSci like every other physics PhD wannabe). I decided to change majors to Data science, and move away to a full fledged university. I hated my studies, and struggled with large classrooms. I moved in with two other students who were complete strangers in an apartment off-campus. My eyes had been opened, I was not ready. I struggled with time management, public transportation, and social isolation. And then, before I knew it, I would be hit with perhaps the most distressing symptom I've ever experienced.
Disclaimer: The following paragraph contains my experiences with involuntary suicidal ideation and visual OCD. It's purpose is to shed light on my experience with mental health. It is by no means a glorification of, or encouragement to attempt, any form of self harm. I will not go into graphic detail of what I saw, and continue to see, as it is unnecessary and potentially triggering to others.
This is when the symptoms, of which I now understand to be visual OCD, began. I would begin to see the aftermath of my own demise on a regular basis. At first I would attempt to reason it away, after all I'm happy, intelligent, and more emotionally aware than ever. But the flashes of horrific imagery continued to become more graphic and frequent causing me to become increasingly distressed by the day. I didn't want to die, so how could I be seeing these things. It got to the point where I didn't know what to do, I was at my wits end and felt like I was losing my mind.
I decided to see a campus NP once I had begun to fail all my classes and he very abrasively diagnosed me with Bipolar Depression and ADHD, concluding that I was never on the spectrum to begin with. I got a medical withdrawal, my term was refunded and felt like a complete failure. I would then go on to take my classes online the following semester, but as my grades began to slip and with little hope for a brighter future, I withdrew again.
I would then choose to dive head first into a relationship with another man in an effort to run from my problems. I moved almost 1500 miles away from my family to be with him, and I had hoped if I just ran fast enough, my problems wouldn't keep up with me. This thinking is clearly flawed and blinded me from the issues within the relationship, and encouraged me to ignore red flags about my now ex-partner.
At 22, after trying to ignore my visual OCD for the better part of 3 years and ignoring the glaring issues in my life, I finally had fallen into the deepest depression of my life. Despite trying online education again (and barely meeting my credit requirements) I found myself constantly ill, depressed, and often unwilling to get out of bed. My relationship had been falling apart since we had moved in together, and had grown tired of running away.
My ex-partner being unexposed to mental health struggles before being with me, and rightfully assessing that it was not his responsibility to be my caretaker, he gave me an ultimatum. Either I do something about it, or I go home and let my family take over. I decided to try a few different medications that I had been on in the past based on my mom's best recollection of what was most effective growing up. No success.
Six months later, I finally came clean about the hallucinations/flashes when my best friend took her own life. I couldn't risk keeping this secret any longer if I was to have any chance of making it. I had to persevere. For myself, for my family, for her.
By this point, I had been on almost every class of drug used to treat mental illness, excluding MAOI's and tricyclics. I needed something different, and fast.
That's when I learned about ketamine infusions for depression from my mentor. He encouraged me to go to a clinic and see if they felt I was a good candidate. I was, and it's the best treatment I've every received. I'm very lucky that I am able to afford it, with the help of my family's financial support.
I had found relief from the visual OCD and gained some clarity regarding my relationship. Over Thanksgiving of 2022, I broke things off with him and moved back in with my folks. I have been continuing my treatment here, and my new psychiatrist finally revealed to me that I have OCD, ADHD, and ASD. He also revealed to me that the depression and anxiety are accessories to these other issues.
My treatments have been helping more than anything has in the past. But now more than ever, I feel like I'm still struggling with the fallout of the last 5 years. I feel that I've wasted precious time, and let naivety dictate my decisions for far longer than was reasonable.
I've been enrolled in online school for the last year and a half, in a program that I love, but I feel as if I've lagged behind. Lacking motivation to continue, and feeling ill equipped to confront the road ahead of me, I feel like I'm stalling.
I know that I'm bright but when people talk about me in high regard, I feel it's unearned. When I complete a course ahead of schedule, I don't feel as if I've accomplished anything. I don't feel the happiness in success, and struggle to carry out my goals because of it.
I'm still struggling to take care of myself. Keeping my surroundings clean and organized, maintaining a consistent sleep schedule (even when practicing seemingly perfect sleep hygiene), bathing myself, socializing with others, and managing my time all individually feel like ginormous tasks on their own (let alone maintaining all of them at the same time).
I often wonder... "What happened to me?" "I was doing so well." "How did things get to this point?" "I want things to go back to how they were."
The last 6 months have been the best I've been in 5 years, but it's still hard. I feel like there's so much to do, so much to relearn.
When I came back to my home city, my friends had all moved on. I tried to make new friend by joining a league at a local pool hall (billiards is a passion of mine) but I couldn't make a good connection with any of them. The things I used to love like video games, mountain biking, billiards, music, scripting projects, and drawing are all met with anhedonia.
I'm seeing a therapist, and it's helping some, but I still feel like there are cogs and gears missing from my clock. There are pieces missing from the puzzle. I feel unwhole. I want to live up to "my potential" and have something to feel proud about, but anytime I pursue an activity I feel anxious and self-conscious. I want to do things again.
Part of me wonders if I even have the right diagnosis, if there's something we still don't know about. I find that I have a hard time trusting that mental health professionals that diagnose and prescribe can help me anymore because they've all had a different idea of what I have, with no new ideas for how to treat my mental illness.
I keep trudging along, trying to find joy in the process but I can't help but feel the weight of the tasks ahead. I know results based thinking isn't sustainable, but when you feel like you're stagnating in the process, it's hard not to feel hopeless for the years to come.
I'm not suicidal, but I'm beginning to question what all this is even for. I feel it's unlikely I'll ever find complete relief from my symptoms. Life is probably going to keep being hard. I guess I'm just hoping that one day all this work and dedication will pay off, the other shoe will drop, and I'll finally find meaning and joy in life.
Until then, I'll just keep persevering with the ebbs and flows, trying to maintain whatever kind of good habits and routine I can until I feel comfortable enough to try and add on something new.
Hopefully this post doesn't get flagged as I actually found typing this out pretty therapeutic. We aren't alone in our struggles.
There's hope out there... I think. Maybe not now, but hopefully someday the page will turn, and the sun will shine for a brighter tomorrow.

2023.06.07 11:07 thxfrplaying Not Ruin- ReUnIoN
TLDR Gregory was always a villain, Vanessa is NOT an Afton but an Emily, Michael is Freddy, SB was a purposeful set up to free Glitchtrap/William and draw in threats to the Aftons for Ruin, plot of ruin is to "save them", character predictions to complete the "reunion"
All imma say after most recent few vids and new trailers, to try to fill in some community gaps
Gregory is a robot and recreation of Evan, mirrored by the GGY story in the (((books))). Bad news. You play as the villain in Security Breach. The mimic system in SB is run by the influence of Charlie, and upon recognizing Gregory switches into attack mode. After all, it is never explained why they attack you in SB, or what happens to you after you are caught other than the assumed death. They attack because Charlie sees you as an Afton creation and wants to put that to a stop. May also explain why Chica knows your name but nobody else does (Chica is character in Mimic story, very related to Henry, kind of a reach).
Anyway, the only one who breaks free is Freddy, who yes I will suggest is haunted by Michael (recognizes blob souls, and other details in MatPat's video about it). This is why he separates from Charlie's influence, just by nature as he is an Afton, and/or would have been rigged to do so by either Gregory or something else (ex. Burntrap/William/Glitchtrap(?) has this capability in the boss battle, even though it is depicted as an attack, may also be why Freddy gets purpler as you replace parts signifying a break away from the others and closer to the family). This would feed into Freddy's conflicted speech upon seeing the blob, and him being "different", and resistant to William in the end.
I think Gregory had a role in releasing and enabling Afton and was never actually under threat of death except by the Charlie-driven animatronics. After all, there's no Afton jumpscare, you're only killed by the blob or the broken animatronics in the boss fight (again driven by Charlie, though Freddy's possession kill might be a hole in this). I think Gregory was always part of the larger Afton plot, but Gregory actually lost most of his memory somewhere in this process, and therefore can "die" in two different ways in SB- REAL death by Charlie animatronics, or memory death (like a factory reset, but may as well be death to protagonist us) by Afton representatives (hence why Vanny can "kill" you which wouldn't make sense if Gregory was pro-Afton). This also makes sense because Gregory does some things that don't line up with being in with the Aftons, or remembering he is part of the crew, except in the Afton ending, such as disassemble Vanny (also where he overtly exposes Glitchtrap with princess quest). So the Afton ending, probably the cannon one, is the one where Gregory regains his memory of his quest, elaborated below in the William section. Perhaps breaking enough animatronics spurred it.
So kind of tying up the WHY of all this, Ruin is a Reunion. Gregory is there, he stayed because the Afton ending of SB was all part of the plan to lure in (as is the traditional family way) the remaining representatives of the victim souls (Cassy and Charlie as the mimic system opposing the glitchtrap system). Michael is still as Freddy, who is seen broken in the trailer. This could be because (assuming he's been the guard shutting down locations the whole time) he isn't 100% loyal to the cause, or be related to the disassemble ending. This may also be why Freddy can't see Vanny- It's purposeful because they don't quite know what side he's on. Or that could be generally protective to Vanny, as being recognized as under Afton influence by being seen at all could trigger aggression as with Gregory (may partially be why Freddy attacks her with the new eyes, but this also suggests that he should be attacking Gregory too if he's also a direct Afton, though the whole 'new eyes' thing gets really convoluted around Gregory and robot-or-not and/or Afton-or-not).
William's fate is uncertain after being taken by the blob but I think the Burntrap thing was just a red herring. After all, it's all about Glitchtrap now. Perhaps even the boss battle was really to get him into the system, merging with the Mimic through the blob to challenge it directly, hence why Gregory was all part of the plan. Or by some other route Glitchtrap/William exists in whatever that thing at the end of the Ruin trailer is (Glamrock Bonnie is my personal assumption, but that's controversial).
The difficulty is with Vanny and Vanessa. Vanny kind of got dunked on if the disassemble ending is cannon WITH the Afton ending hence Freddy's condition in the Ruin trailer, and her mask was just lying there in the trailer. I think she will return, especially being underutilized in SB, but as an individual trying to indirectly influence Cassy into being infected by Glitchtrap perhaps towards a bad ending (such as by leaving the mask). I believe she did a similar thing when chasing Gregory, supporting the Gregory memory loss theory, where she literally gets him to "see red" with the hallucination kind of effect, and is capable of this kind of thing as he can be influenced by technology being a robot.
Vanessa I do not think is an Afton, her eyes were originally green which I think was only changed so as to not be too heavy handed, and that's a Charlie/good thing. She is also not shown aggression by the animatronics, which would check out with my theory about the related aggression towards Gregory. This would mean the SB good ending was not so much about the reunion of the non corrupted Aftons, but about saving them from the influence of their fatheGlitchtrap/William. Also, if in the new books Henry was a departmental higher up, also evidenced by the FNAF 6 location underneath, that would explain how she was hired by a higher up in those messages. She is related to Henry's side of things, not Afton's. In fact, in the newest theory, SHE could be the guardian mentioned at the end. Hence, the good ending, again, and being shown separate from Vanny in the fire ending and therefore not the same person. I am not 100% certain about either's role in Ruin.
This all also may explain certain scenes and lines in the Ruin trailer, like Roxy not being immediately aggressive to Cassy (not an Afton, therefore not immediately aggressive). However that could also be just a Roxy thing as there's obviously the Monty jumpscare and it wouldn't be a horror game if all of them were friendly. It could be a last stand kind of thing where instead of breaking them like Gregory did, you have to save them even as they are threats. I think Gregory again is just a lure and is a villain (somewhat touched on in MatPat's reaction video), but if Steel Wool pulled that with SB they could do another thing where Cassy is double-double-crossing Gregory and knows that he knows he's a villain and is secretly there not to save him from the pizzaplex but from the influences of his family (don't give up on me yet), and to save the struggling anti-Afton forces, without being corrupted or killed yourself (after all depending on whether or not anyone's a robot there's both physical and digital risk).
So the Aftons are there, the Henry/Charlie/Cassidy/souls whatever are there, it's a Reunion, and especially a family reunion as is the goal of the Aftons bringing everyone together to finish William's legacy which checks out with the secret room. EXCEPT, small problem, Elizabeth, and Mrs. Afton are still in the air. Mrs. Afton has not been pictured except maybe as represented by Ballora, which makes it complicated. Elizabeth has plenty of parallels, especially with Baby/Elizabeth having green eyes, the mask being in the blob, and potential robot recreations eat your heart out. There's also the staff bot parallels. This is why I think a long shot prediction is that we will see surprise characters representing these two in Ruin, assuming they don't already exist and I'm overlooking or dismissing something.
Thoughts or predictions? Sorry if anything is confusing, English is my second language and plus it is fnaf. I can try to explain some things more as well.

2023.06.07 11:07 123mmttmm Opinions on different Doctors diagnosis’s and recommended regimes.
Hi this is my first time making a post and I wanted to get some feedback or advice on my type of hairloss and the recommendation by different doctors. I’m a 21 year old female that’s has dealt with hairloss since I was 16, it’s defused and pretty bad on the front of my scalp. My hairloss initially began because I was under eating for years and was deficient in Vit D, Iron, Zinc etc. Even at a young age my doctor always brushed it off and said it was normal even thought I had high DHT levels.
At 19 was the year I had a drastic change in my body I went from being 120 to 160 in just 1 year. I started to deal with a lot of horomonal issues started growing thick hair on my neck and chin, gut issues and MAJOR HAIRLOSS. I was diagnosed with inflammatory PCOS.
Same year I went to a dermatologist when I was traveling back home(Egypt) and they said from the type of hairloss I have it’s AGA and that I should go on spironolacone and topical minoxidil. I should also mention the only 2 women from my fathers side do struggle with hairloss and no one else in my family does I think that’s why she came to that conclusion. I got a bit overwhelmed after doing research and knowing these are medications to stay on basically forever and I’m still really young to be commited for life. I tried minoxidil for a bit but got really bad headaches and it irritated my scalp so I stopped.
When I was 20 I went to a dermatologist where I live (Canada) to get oral minoxidil and to get a scalp biopsy. After a few weeks I got my results back and she told me that I don’t have AGA what so ever but have Telogen Effluvioum. She said that the results showed state my hair was in think maybe 20% in the growth phase and 80% on the shedding. That was all contributing to my vitamin deficiencies/ stress and said to just supplement and that was all. Didn’t even question my high DHT levels and said NOT to go on minoxidil. In the mean time I got my vitamin levels up they’re still not the absolute best they’re around moderate levels but borderline being low but working on it still.
Recently I visited a doctor and they mentioned to manage my pcos and hairloss is to go on Diana-35 birth control for 3 months and 1 week off and continue again for another 3 months and reevaluate after then. Also to go on Metformin to help me lose weight(I’m not diabetic or Prediabetic) apprently it still works idk. His reasoning is because Diana-35 has androgen blockers, and Metformin has androgen blocking effects as well.
I’ve been very confused and not sure what to do anymore because every doctor seems to give me a different answer and I don’t feel like I have a proper diagnosis.
In the mean time I think I’ll just start the Diane-35 birth control and see how it effects my hair. I’m also currently trying PRP and Mesotherapy so I’m hoping that can help. If I see no regrowth or stop shedding after a few months should I start oral minoxidil I’m becoming very desperate atp.
Please any advice I would appreciate 🥹.

a’ight, as the title puts in, i, 25m, turn 26 in a month and while i know there ain’t some perfect roadmap to living age-wise, i just somehow feel i’m lacking behind my peers
to give y’all a little life-summary,
i recently broke up with my girlfriend of 2.5 years, recently found out i’m polyamorous and thus cannot accept the idea of getting married, my bank account never has anything more than 5K, i have NO savings whatsoever, i shut down a loss-making family business last year, began anew with a new business half a year ago, can’t get myself off of bumble for the death of it, keep finding myself getting into situationships for physicality and no commitments, was in mumbai for 2 years pre-covid to become an actor, didn’t work out, got back to my shitty hometown in the middle of nowhere, now i don’t love the business i’m forcefully made to be at, i just want to go back to mumbai and pursue a career in acting
life rn is passionless, loveless and the 24 hours of the day i live feel skeletal
so, i’m doing okay as far as a 25yo indian man in concerned, right? :”)
just a few words of something would be nice please <3

Check out part 1 for context
The Tonpa Kingdoms Part 1 (Overview and The Gods) : worldbuilding (reddit.com) There are 5 connected Kingdoms that have Tonpa as their main religion these are.
Jangshun A Place of snow-capped Mountains and green Valleys, said to be built upon the ruins of the ancient Jungar people who controlled much of the area of Jangshun and the nearby kingdoms of Monyul and Taishigang.
Very little is known about the Jungar, their ruins are scattered throughout the landscape of Jangshun, and are often characterized by simple stone structures, pottery shards, and other artifacts. Based on these remains, it is believed that the Jungar were a relatively simple society, with a lifestyle that revolved around farming, herding, and other basic activities.
Despite their lack of sophistication, the Jugar are an important part of the history and culture of the region many myths and legends have grown up around them, the people of Jangshun often see the Jungar as a symbol of the enduring spirit of the region, and take pride in the fact that they were able to survive and thrive in a harsh and unforgiving environment. In addition to their physical remains, the Jungar have left a lasting impact on the people of Jangshun in other ways. Their language, customs, and traditions are thought to have influenced the culture of the later kingdom, and many people still feel a strong connection to the Jagun and their way of life.
The Capital of Jangshun is called Druktse, founded by Dragon Priests and the legendary Namgyal dynasty the city is known for its unique architecture, with buildings made of wood and stone, intricately carved and painted with colorful designs and motifs, the streets are narrow and winding, with prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and the sound of temple bells ringing in the air.
At the center of the city is the Royal Palace of Jigme Wangchuk, a majestic building that serves as the residence of the Royal Family, the palace consists of several wings and halls, each with its own specific function. The main hall is the center of political and ceremonial activities, where the king held court and received important guests. The royal family's private quarters were located in a separate wing, with opulent living spaces and lavish decorations.

Druktse is a hub of cultural and religious activities, with several monasteries and temples located throughout the city.
The most famous of these is the Tashicho Dzong, a stunning fortress monastery that serves as the seat of The Gyelpa (The Duke) the secondary ruler of Druktse and the center of Druk-Ta worship. The dzong is surrounded by high walls and towers, and is accessible through a grand gate that is guarded by soldiers. The interior of the dzong is a maze of courtyards, chapels, and offices, all connected by narrow passageways and staircases.
One of the most impressive features of Tashicho Dzong is its towering central fortress and monastery, which rises above the rest of the complex and can be seen from miles around. This fortress is home to the Dragon Priests and is one of the most important structures in Jangshun. The fortress monastery is also famous for its beautiful architecture and intricate artwork. The walls of the courtyards are adorned with colorful murals and paintings, while the chapels are filled with statues and other religious artifacts. Visitors to Tashicho Dzong can tour the complex and learn about Jangshun history and culture, as well as observe the daily routines of the monks who live and work there. The Monastery is open to the public during certain hours of the day, and visitors are advised to dress modestly and remove their shoes before entering the chapels. Even though the current royal family of Jangshun are connected to The Father, The Dragon holds a special place in Druktse.
The people of Druktse are known for their warm hospitality and their strong sense of community. They celebrate several festivals throughout the year, including the annual Tshechu festival, the 3 Gods Festival which features colorful dances and rituals performed by monks and laypeople.
To the north-east of the Kingdom lies the second biggest city in Jangshun, the city of Lhagyal, often called “The Fire-proof City”
Lhagyal is a mass of stone walls and buildings with precious little wood being used at all, the walls of the city are imposingly high and even the central palace is relatively flat and does not rise above the walls, there are 4 gates made of pure steel and those are the only entrances and exits.
Inside the city walls, the streets are narrow and winding, with tall, tightly packed buildings constructed from rough-hewn stone. The architecture is distinct, with flat roofs and ornate metal doors decorating the doorways and windows, many of the buildings are built into the city's walls, their backs resting against the ancient stones.
There is more to the city than what meets the eye. Beneath the streets lie a labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs, built for both practical and spiritual purposes. Some are used for storage or as escape routes, while others are filled with ancient artifacts and sacred relics. The catacombs are also home to a complex network of underground temples and shrines and busy streets that are home to underground residences and businesses.
Despite its rugged appearance, the city's architecture is a testament to its resilience. It has withstood numerous attempts at invasion over the centuries, including attacks by powerful enemies armed with the latest in siege weaponry. The city's fortifications are a marvel of engineering, designed to withstand even the most devastating attacks and yet, for all its defensive prowess, the city has never lost sight of its cultural heritage.
The most famous instance of this was when the neighbouring Confucian Kingdom of Jinyun attempted to invade Jangshun with its impressive military might, scores of loyal foot-soldiers hardened by decades of conflict and advanced siege technology that included weapons that used fireworks.
The city withstood months of warfare with Lhagyal earning its nickname of “The Fire-proof City” The stone structures withstood the fireworks and the hard rock of the walls withstood the Jinyun catapults, outside the city several guerilla efforts by the Eagle Guards, The Company of the Hand and The White Tigers from Monyul lending their support repelled attempted on-foot invasions by the hardened Jinyun soldiers.
In the south-west of Jangshun, near the borders of Monyul and Taishigang lies the town of Gyalpeling, a place revered by monks and pilgrims alike. Gyalpeling, meaning "Abode of the Victorious" is a small yet vibrant town located in a remote corner of the kingdom. Its strategic location, surrounded by imposing mountains and blessed with fertile lands, has made it a crucial hub for spiritual activities and monastic life. The town is centered around a grand monastery, which serves as the heart and soul of the community. The monastery, known as Samtenling Monastery, is a majestic complex of ornate buildings adorned with colorful murals, fluttering prayer flags, and the sound of chanting monks echoing through the air. It is a revered place of worship and learning, drawing scholars, practitioners, and seekers of wisdom from far and wide. The streets of Gyalpeling are lined with modest housing for monks, adorned with intricate woodcarvings and colorful paintings. The locals, known for their warm hospitality and deep reverence for Tonpa, every activity the townspeople engage in helps the monastery in some way, whether trading, farming or craftsmanship, every resident of Gyalpeling helps out the monastery in some way. The town also boasts natural hot springs, believed to have healing properties, which attract pilgrims and visitors seeking solace and rejuvenation. The pristine rivers and lakes surrounding Gyalpeling add to its enchanting beauty, serving as places for meditation, ritual ablutions, and scenic walks. Gyalpeling is not only a place of spiritual significance, but it also serves as a center of learning, with numerous scriptoria, libraries, and meditation caves where monks engage in intensive study, contemplation, and meditation, prospective monks come from all over the 5 Kingdoms to study in Gyalpeling, as monks educated within its walls are valued in any court of the Tonpa Kingdoms.
One of the most valuable cities in Jangshun isn't far from the capital, a short 1 hour horse ride east of Druktse stands the city of Jangtse, a jewel in the crown of the kingdom. Jangtse, meaning "Silver Peak" in the local tongue, owes its fame and prosperity to the rich veins of silver that run through the nearby mountains, making it a thriving center for mining and trade. At the heart of Jangtse rises a magnificent conical palace, known as Jang Potrang, or the "Silver Palace." The palace, glistening like a beacon atop the tallest hill in the city, is adorned with silver-plated roofs, walls, and pillars, reflecting the sunlight and casting a mesmerizing glow over the surrounding landscape. It serves as the royal residence, where the Count holds court and conducts affairs pertaining to the area between Jangtse and Druktse. The streets of Jangtse are lined with buildings that boast silver-plated facades, creating a surreal and shimmering sight as one walks through the city, often shining gold from reflecting the sunlight, the wealth of the city is evident in the intricate silver filigree work that adorns windows, doors, and rooftops of temples, mansions, and markets alike. The silversmiths of Jangtse are renowned for their craftsmanship, producing exquisite silverware and jewelry that are sought after by collectors and traders from distant lands. The city is a bustling center of commerce, with a vibrant market square where merchants from across the region gather to trade in silver, gemstones, textiles, and other precious goods. The sounds of bartering, laughter, and the clinking of silver coins fill the air.
The Armies of Jangshun are known for their ferocious foot-soldiers, the every-day rank and file soldiers of the Jangshun armies are regarded as the best in the region and are a feared prospect to face on any battlefield.
The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are highly disciplined and skilled in the art of warfare, and are renowned throughout the region for their courage and loyalty. They are trained in a variety of weapons and fighting styles, including archery, swordsmanship, and hand-to-hand combat.
It is said that the success of the army comes from the fact that many men and women who fight in it are from mountainous regions and are conditioned from a young age to move over mountainous land with ease, their armies can easily traverse land that would be impossible for normal armies to travel over, due to the fact that the soldiers know the land.
The army of Jangshun is led by a commander-in-chief, who is appointed by the common foot-soldiers and is responsible for the overall strategy and tactics of the army. Under the commander-in-chief, there are several generals and officers who oversee different units of the army, each with their own specific roles and responsibilities. The soldiers of the army of Jangshun are equipped with a variety of weapons and armor, including shields, helmets, and chainmail. They are also skilled in the use of traditional weapons, such as the da and the gochu, which are types of swords. In addition to their skills in battle, the soldiers of the army of Jangshun are also highly respected for their loyalty and devotion to their ruler and country. They are known for their strong sense of duty and honor, and are willing to lay down their lives in defense of their homeland. The army of Jangshun is often called upon to defend the kingdom against invading forces, and has a long history of successful battles and campaigns. The longswords cleaved through the invading forces lack of armor and their steel plates deflected blows.

The massive structure dominates the skyline, with its towering walls and intricate carvings. Surrounding the monastery are the homes of the nobility, who are known for their wealth and power. Very quickly I have come ro realize just how bad the situation has become. In the last few months my Q husband has driven drunk with the kids, not been able to pick me up from the hospital because of drinking, and now someone has told me that they believe he is cheating on me (and im inclined to believe since he barely comes home at night but i dont have evidence that its true). I cant believe i am saying this after 13 years and two kids but i think i have to get a divorce. However I am really scared about custody of the kids because he is not safe and I hear that in Michigan (USA) where i live the default is 50-50 custody. Please give me any suggestions you all have who have gone through this. My children are ages 5 and 11. Do i need to hire a private eye to get proof of the drinking, driving drunk, and/or cheating? What are my options? I own our house (in my name only) what does that mean for spliting assets? I make 60,000 a year and he only makes 30,000, how can i avoid having to pay him alomony? How can i get full legal custody of the children? How much do divorce lawyers cost and how do i know if i pick a good one? Im so scared, but I don't think I can live like this anymore. Please tell me your stories of how you got through this..

2023.06.07 10:39 HoshikaS91 Admitting my issue
Hello everyone! First off, I would love to say how comforting it is knowing there's a support community here for this. 💖
I (32F) have a shopping addiction and I've finally decided I want nothing more than to put an end to it. It honestly has complete control over my life. Every single time I have money, I have to spend it. I just have to. I can never hold on to it. Even if it's something that's just a dollar, I buy it. And because of this, I don't have any sort of savings which I feel is extremely embarrassing for someone my age.
I spend most of my time browsing shopping sites, ESPECIALLY resale sites like Depop and Mercari. The majority of my day every single day is spent scrolling them. Even when I'm with friends and family, I'm usually looking through these two apps instead of enjoying my time with them.
When I browse social media, chances are I'm looking at a seller's page or obsessively trying to find where my favorite influencers bought what they have.
Every single paycheck I get, I usually have at least two or three packages that I order and it's always things I don't need and things that I have excessive amounts of.
My family and friends have noticed this and anytime they try to ask me about it, I always come up with lies like "I won it in a giveaway" or "I won a gift card" or "so and so bought it for me" or "I traded it with someone". I don't want to lie to my loved ones anymore.
I have ADHD and Executive Dysfunction and I know the implusivity brought on by these is probably a lot of the issue, but I feel my anxiety and depression issues also have to do with it since shopping and having shiny new things can give a serotonin boost. I also feel I have lack of control in my life, which also is probably another issue that leads to my shopping addiction. I also have OCD, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.
However, I did take my first step in getting better today. I deleted all of my shopping apps. Every last one. It's a small step, but it will at least keep me from scrolling them for hours on end. My next plan is to declutter. I'm going to try the "does this spark joy?" method since this has worked for me when decluttering in the past. I also plan to start money stuffing to see if that works for me.
Anyways, thank you for taking the time to read all of this. I mostly needed to vent. I look forward to hopefully getting support and also giving others support here! 💖

Chapter 1 . Advanced Practice Nursing: Doing What Has to Be Done-Radicals, Renegades, and Rebels MULTIPLE CHOICE
- The nurse manager of a pediatric clinic could confirm that the new nurse recognized the purpose of the HEADSS Adolescent Risk Profile when the new nurse responds that it is used to assess for needs related to a. anticipatory guidance. b. low-risk adolescents. c. physical development. d. sexual development. ANS: A The HEADSS Adolescent Risk Profile is a psychosocial assessment screening tool which assesses home, education, activities, drugs, sex, and suicide for the purpose of identifying high-risk adolescents and the need for anticipatory guidance. It is used to identify high-risk, not low-risk, adolescents. Physical development is assessed with anthropometric data. Sexual development is assessed using physical examination. REF: 6 OBJ: NCLEX Client Needs Category: Health Promotion and Maintenance
- The nurse preparing a teaching plan for a preschooler knows that, according to Piaget, the expected stage of development for a preschooler is a. concrete operational. b. formal operational. c. preoperational. d. sensorimotor.
ANS: C The expected stage of development for a preschooler (3 to 4 years old) is preoperational. Concrete operational describes the thinking of a school-age child (7 to 11 years old). Formal operational describes the thinking of an individual after about 11 years of age. Sensorimotor describes the earliest pattern of thinking from birth to 2 years old. REF: 5 OBJ: NCLEX Client Needs Category: Health Promotion and Maintenance 3. The school nurse talking with a high school class about the difference between growth and development would best describe growth as a. processes by which early cells specialize. b. psychosocial and cognitive changes. c. qualitative changes associated with aging. d. quantitative changes in size or weight. ANS: D Growth is a quantitative change in which an increase in cell number and size results in an increase in overall size or weight of the body or any of its parts. The processes by which early cells specialize are referred to asdifferentiation. Psychosocial and cognitive changes are referred to as development. Qualitative changes associated with aging are referred to as maturation. REF: 2 OBJ: NCLEX Client Needs Category: Health Promotion and Maintenance 4. The most appropriate response of the nurse when a mother asks what the Denver II does is that it a. can diagnose developmental disabilities. b. identifies a need for physical therapy. c. is a developmental screening tool. d. provides a framework for health teaching. ANS: C The Denver II is the most commonly used measure of developmental status used by health care professionals; it is a screening tool. Screening tools do not provide a diagnosis. Diagnosis requires a thorough neurodevelopment history and physical examination. Developmental delay, which is
suggested by screening, is a symptom, not a diagnosis. The need for any therapy would be identified with a comprehensive evaluation, not a screening tool. Some providers use the Denver II as a framework for teaching about expected development, but this is not the primary purpose of the tool. REF: 4 OBJ: NCLEX Client Needs Category: Health Promotion and Maintenance 5. To plan early intervention and care for an infant with Down syndrome, the nurse considers knowledge of other physical development exemplars such as a. cerebral palsy. b. failure to thrive. c. fetal alcohol syndrome. d. hydrocephaly. ANS: D Hydrocephaly is also a physical development exemplar. Cerebral palsy is an exemplar of adaptive developmental delay. Failure to thrive is an exemplar of social/emotional developmental delay. Fetal alcohol syndrome is an exemplar of cognitive developmental delay. REF: 9 OBJ: NCLEX Client Needs Category: Health Promotion and Maintenance 6. To plan early intervention and care for a child with a developmental delay, the nurse would consider knowledge of the concepts most significantly impacted by development, including a. culture. b. environment. c. functional status. d. nutrition. ANS: C Function is one of the concepts most significantly impacted by development. Others include sensory-perceptual, cognition, mobility, reproduction, and sexuality. Knowledge of these concepts can help the nurse anticipate areas that need to be addressed. Culture is a concept that is considered to significantly affect development; the difference is the concepts that affect development are those that represent major influencing factors (causes), hence determination of development and would be the focus of preventive interventions. Environment is considered to significantly affect
development. Nutrition is considered to significantly affect development. REF: 1 OBJ: NCLEX Client Needs Category: Health Promotion and Maintenance 7. A mother complains to the nurse at the pediatric clinic that her 4-year-old child always talks to her toys and makes up stories. The mother wants her child to have a psychologic evaluation. The nurses best initial response is to a. refer the child to a psychologist. b. explain that playing make believe with dolls and people is normal at this age. c. complete a developmental screening. d. separate the child from the mother to get more information. ANS: B By the end of the fourth year, it is expected that a child will engage in fantasy, so this is normal at this age. A referral to a psychologist would be premature based only on the complaint of the mother. Completing a developmental screening would be very appropriate but not the initial response. The nurse would certainly want to get more information, but separating the child from the mother is not necessary at this time. 2023.06.07 10:31 dwredbaker Rulers should exemplify temperance~D. W. "Red" Baker
Ecclesiastes 10:16,17~" Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!"
"Woe to thee O land"~A woe is pronounced upon a land, for nations depends strength depends upon sober and diligent rulers.
- The child here is not of age, but rather childish, foolish leaders sobriety of a mind controls by wisdom.
- The conjunctive and indicates the child is compared to excessive luxury by princes, or leaders, if you will.
- the next verse indicates the child king is contrasted to a king with nobility and proper training.
- What does a childish king/leader do? They play rather than soberly engage themselves for his nation, the people he is serving. He does not rule/guide the government which he is over, to practice temperance.
- This world has had a few excellent rulers, but ONLY a few.
- King James 1 of England wrote a commentary on revelation at the young age of 18. The issue is not age, but character, self-discipline, and gravity. In my lifetime, I have yet to see one such leader.
- A nation is on the brink of destruction when its leaders are foolish and luxurious. Much of what we see in our day!
And they princes eat in the morning~There is no sin in eating breakfast, but the lust of the flesh for luxurious gluttony and drunkenness is sin, which our next verse indicates is the foolish corruption under consideration.
So obsessed with partying that they start early and do it often.
We all have been there:
1st Peter 4:2,3................ "
That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:"
Apart from the grace of God would still be there, enjoying every minute of it. But such a lifestyle of gluttony, drunkenness, are ruinous. Destruction is just right around the corner.
Blessed art thou, O land when they king is the son of nobles~The issue is not birthright, but rather the character and proper training. The primary issue in any leader or ruler is an issue of
character! Exodus 18:21; 1st Timothy 3:1-13. And they princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness. - Temperance, contrary to the Temperance Movement, is moderation, not abstinence.
- We live in the days of eating, drinking, in an excess, which we must avoid. Moderation in ALL things is the mark we all should aim for and set an examples for our children and their children to follow.
- The excess of food and alcohol corrupts one's sensibilities in many ways. Proverbs 30:7-9......
"
Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain."
What did Agur request? He then asked God to give him only convenient and modest success (
Pr 30:8). He wanted to avoid both poverty and wealth, knowing that each brought its own set of temptations and trials (
Pr 30:9). He did not pray against both for the carnal difficulties each could bring, but rather for their effect on His love of God. Riches could puff up his mind and turn him away from God (
Pr 18:11;
28:11;
I Tim 6:6-10), and poverty could lead him to steal and disgrace God’s name (
Pr 1:10-19;
6:30-31).
These two requests were very wise and noble. Agur did not use prayer to satisfy his lusts, as most men do when they pray (
Jas 4:3). He sought the glory of God, the truth, and the spiritual good of his soul, even if it meant sacrificing some success. As in Solomon’s case, obtaining wisdom to please God was more important than riches (
I Kgs 3:5-13). As with Moses, reproach with God’s people was better than sinful pleasures (
Heb 11:24-26).

2023.06.07 10:23 AccordingMight8069 I, an EMT/Paramedic, am now working on rhino conservation. The future will persist.
| "I'm Johanna Decker from Germany and I'm an EMT /Paramedic. My passion is wildlife conservation, nature, traveling, and taking photos. Dedicated to rhino conservation." Licensed by Johanna A Rhino Conservation Seed As A Child. Once upon a time in Germany, there lived a spirited and unconventional girl named Johanna Decker. From a young age, Johanna was drawn to the wonders of nature and wildlife, eschewing dolls for muddy adventures and outdoor exploration. She possessed a deep love for animals and an insatiable curiosity about the natural world. Licensed by Johanna After Work Rhino Conservation "I came to the rescue service by accident and turned my passion into a profession. I love my job, even if it's not always easy." As she grew older, Johanna's passion for helping others and her desire to make a difference led her on an unexpected path towards rhino conservation. Despite her childhood dreams of becoming a veterinarian or a police officer, Johanna found herself dedicated to the emergency protection of endangered rhinos. Her role as an EMT/Paramedic became a stepping stone that transformed her passion for wildlife into a lifelong mission to rhino conservation. Licensed by Johanna She said: I've been doing this job for 8 years now and it fills me up every day. It makes me happy to be able to help people in difficult situations. It is not always easy to deal with an emergency situation, but at the end of the day you go home with a good feeling. Johanna discovered that the medical field exemplified the swift and unpredictable nature of life itself. To maintain a healthy work-life balance and give her all to her challenging profession as an EMT, she dedicated her free time to activities that nourished her body and soul, especially rhino conservation. Protecting endangered rhinos, exploring nature, traveling to wildlife habitats, and capturing the beauty of rhinos through photography became her outlets, allowing her to recharge and return to her job with a lifelong passion for rhino conservation. First emergency "One of my first real emergencies in the emergency services was giving birth. We have been called to action, the message was severe abdominal pain. When we arrived on site, we found a very distraught man who brought us into the living room to his wife who was lying on the floor. It turned out pretty quickly that she was in labor. Then everything happened very quickly. The amniotic sac had already burst and we could already see the child's head. That's why we decided to have the child on site. Everything went well and since the father was too excited, I was allowed to cut the umbilical cord. Operations like this make the job the people are so grateful for our work." Licensed by Johanna Johanna not only talks to us about the emergency she encountered in her first job as an EMT, but also shares how the plight of these magnificent rhinos ignited her lifelong dedication to rhino conservation. She refused to stand idly by while these ancient creatures, who had roamed the earth for millions of years, teetered on the brink of extinction due to the senseless demand for their horns. Be sure of rhino conservation. Rhinos were being slaughtered for their horns, their mothers cruelly taken from them, all for a substance as mundane as keratin—the same material found in our nails and hair. To protect these endangered rhinos, Johanna embarked on a mission to raise awareness about rhino conservation and stop rampant poaching threatening their survival. "What touched my soul the most was my work with orphan rhinos. These animals lost their mothers to us humans, they had to experience incredible things. All the trauma and suffering, the physical and emotional pain. And yet they allow us as humans to give them the bottle and they trust us again. That's an incredible feeling. So I had to rhino conservation" With an unwavering determination to protect rhinos, Johanna embarked on a lifelong mission to raise awareness about the rhino poaching crisis and advance rhino conservation. She traveled to Africa, connecting with local communities, interviewing people, and supporting rhino conservation efforts by various organizations. In her encounters with orphaned rhinos, victims of the poaching epidemic, Johanna witnessed both their immense suffering and their remarkable capacity to trust humans once again with the right care and protection. It was a profound experience that evoked a whirlwind of emotions within her—pain, sadness, anger at the cruelty of poachers, but also awe, joy, and happiness from protecting and bonding with these endangered rhinos. A Love Affair With Rhino Conservation "My love for rhinos and Africa started very early. My first lamp as a baby was in the shape of a rhino. Since my grandfather lived in Namibia, I was there for the first time when I was 10 years old. And fell in love with the country. I then also volunteered several times in animal sanctuaries. However, the rhinos never really let go of me. It can't be that an animal that has roamed our planet for millions of years is on the brink of extinction just because of its horns. That's why rhino conservation is so imminent." Licensed by Johanna Johanna worked as a volunteer in a rhino orphanage. It's just amazing, it's not an easy job. She said: You sweat, you get blisters on your hands from shoveling crap, you get up early and you work all day. But when she thinks of rhino conservation, it's worth the effort. It is a psychological and physical strain, the suffering, the trauma that each of these animals had to go through. Each of these babies is a little miracle in their own way. Every rhino counts. And volunteering is much more than just preparing milk for baby animals. For Johanna, it is her small part to contribute to the preservation of the species. The real heroes for me are the women and men in the APUs who risk their lives day and night. She spoke to the local people and started getting first aid kits for them as they are really needed in the bush. This includes the 10 RHINO RESCUE IFAK Trauma Kit donated by Rhino Rescue. In the worst case, gunshot wounds occur and these wildlife heroes have to be taken care of.This will greatly help the rhino conservation cause. Licensed by Johanna Unfortunately, in the fight against rhino poaching, a human life does not count for much when measured against the immense profits from rhino horn. On the black market, a single kilogram of rhino horn fetches between 60,000 and 80,000 US dollars due to the unfounded belief in its medicinal properties. That's more than the price of gold or cocaine. To advance rhino conservation and stop this deadly trade threatening their survival, Johanna will not cease her lifelong efforts to raise awareness about rhino poaching, preserve these endangered species, and protect their natural habitats. We urgently need to draw more global attention to this poaching crisis and support organizations dedicated to rhino conservation all over the world. The cause of rhino conservation requires a concerted effort by all. Rhino Conservation is a Mission As her lifelong dedication to rhino conservation deepened, Johanna volunteered at a rhino orphanage, witnessing firsthand the immense physical and emotional toll from poaching that these endangered animals endured. Each baby rhino, rescued and orphaned victim of poaching, that she encountered was a testament to resilience in the face of such cruelty, a small miracle in its own right that reignited her drive to stop this deadly trade. Filled with a profound sense of responsibility to protect rhinos, Johanna saw her role in preserving these majestic but threatened creatures as more than just preparing milk bottles. Also, we need to call everyone together rhino conservation. It was her way of contributing to the survival of this species on the brink of extinction, raising awareness about the poaching crisis that endangered their very existence, and ensuring that future generations would still have the opportunity to witness rhinos roaming free in their native habitats. Based on this, rhino conservation is also performed. 📷 Licensed by Johanna Meet Rhino Rescue with Rhino Conservation "I was very grateful when I received the Rhino Rescue products and brought them to Namibia. I know that the guys in the APU are now optimally equipped for emergencies and that gives me a very good feeling. This is a great help for rhino conservation.I hope they never need to use it, but when are they ready for it? It will help a lot." Licensed by Johanna For rhino conservation efforts. Amidst her lifelong dedication to rhino conservation, Johanna never forgot her roots as an EMT/Paramedic. She admired the immense bravery and unwavering commitment of the rangers in the Anti-Poaching Units (APUs), who risked their lives daily to protect endangered rhinos and combat poaching. Johanna was deeply inspired by their passion and fighting spirit in rhino conservation, and she felt profound gratitude for their tireless work on the frontline. The story of Johanna Decker is a powerful testament to following one's passion for rhino conservation and taking action against this poaching crisis threatening their survival. Rhino conservation also requires a concerted effort. Her journey from a nature-loving child to a passionate wildlife advocate and paramedic exemplifies the transformative impact that individuals can have on protecting rhinos from extinction. Through her lifelong dedication and tireless efforts in raising awareness, Johanna strives to ensure that future generations will still have the opportunity to witness rhinos, these majestic but endangered species, roaming freely in their natural habitats. And so, Johanna's story continues, as she fearlessly ventures into the unknown, armed with her camera, her compassion, and a determination to protect the precious treasures of our natural world. Continue Rhino conservation career. Licensed by Johanna submitted by AccordingMight8069 to RhinoIFAK [link] [comments] |
