![]() | MAY 5, 2023~Department of Energy Issues Request for Information to Provide Feedback on Critical Materials Assessment~DOE Issues Request for Information to Provide Feedback on Critical Materials Assessment (govdelivery.com)https://preview.redd.it/130qasmbbd4b1.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb3f3658182302d9d0e839603c2847367b564173 The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking public feedback on DOE’s draft Critical Materials Assessment. This RFI is being issued by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO), with the purpose of improving the DOE Critical Materials Assessment prior to finalization. Specifically, this RFI seeks input on the following Areas of Interest:
Historically, the Critical Materials Assessment has informed DOE’s priorities for research activities. The dynamic nature of criticality necessitates ongoing updates to the Assessment. Since DOE released its first Critical Materials Strategy in 2010, DOE’s research portfolio has expanded into a Critical Materials Research, Development, Demonstration, and Commercialization Application (RDD&CA) Program. DOE anticipates updating the Critical Materials Assessment every three years to reflect the most current data and market conditions underlying the methodology. Inclusion on DOE’s critical materials for energy list will inform crosscutting priorities including Critical Materials RDD&CA Program priorities and eligibility for the Inflation Reduction Act 48C tax credit. Responses to this RFI must be submitted electronically to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) no later than 5:00pm ET on June 20, 2023. Learn more about DOE’s work on critical minerals and materials to build resilient supply chains that support the clean energy transition. (“NioCorp” or the “Company”) (TSX:NB) (OTCQX:NIOBF) intends to produce as part of its Elk Creek Critical Minerals Project in Nebraska (the “Project”) would be eligible for new tax credits once the Project is financed and placed into commercial production.****ALSO UNDER- Other Provisions That Could Benefit NioCorpOther provisions of the law are aimed at encouraging greater production of critical minerals in the U.S.:$40 billion commitment authority for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Innovative Technology Loan Guarantee Program (Title XVII), on top of DOE’s existing commitment authority of approximately $24 billion. The Innovative Technologies Loan Guarantee Program authorizes loan guarantees for projects that (1) “avoid, reduce, utilize, or sequester” air pollutants or anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases; and (2) employ “new or significantly improved technologies” as compared to commercial technologies in service in the United States at the time the guarantee is issued. JANUARY 2023 National Defense Act Calls out NIOBIUM & TITANIUM & SCANDIUM & the need to establish a U.S. Industrial Base for the Supply & Processing of ALL!https://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20220711/CRPT-117hrpt397.pdf The committee believes the United States industrial base for the supply and processing of the critical mineral scandium has significant vulnerabilities. The committee also believes that the United States should seek to eliminate dependence on Chinese and Russian sources of scandium, with support from allies and partners. Accordingly, public and private sectors should cooperate closely to establish scandium processing facilities in the United States. Therefore, the committee directs the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the Secretary of Commerce, to provide a briefing to the House Committee on Armed Services not later than May 1, 2023, on public and private sector activities, working with allied nations, to establish scandium processing facilities in the United States, especially facilities based on more efficient, cleaner, and less energy intensive technologies. This briefing will also include how these processing facilities will help the United States reduce dependence on and compete more effectively with China and Russia. Department of Defense on NIOBIUM PAGE #250 ~Control of Niobium by the Chinese Communist Party~ The committee is concerned by recent investments in global niobium production made by firms under the ownership, control, or influence of the Chinese Communist Party (“CCP”). Niobium is a critical mineral needed for the production of superalloys in jet and rocket engines, critical components in defense systems and hypersonic vehicles, and other emerging technologies. CCP control of niobium and a lack of a domestic capability within the United States present a national security risk similar to risks in the rare earth mineral markets. Therefore, the committee directs the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment to provide a briefing to the House Committee on Armed Services by December 31, 2022, on current global sources of supply of niobium along with a cost-benefit analysis of establishing a domestic supply of high purity niobium oxides. The briefing shall:(1) differentiate between ferroniobium and high-purity niobium (the critical niobium oxide precursor);(2) address the possibility of using underutilized byproduct niobium feed stocks from coproduced materials in the United States to strengthen the domestic industrial base for other key refractory materials such as tantalum; and(3) include a list of defense programs that are significant users of niobium or where niobium is a critical component. Department of Defense Access to TITANIUM on pages #250 & #253 ~Establishment of Efficient Titanium Processing Facilities in the United States~ The committee is concerned that the United States industrial base for the supply and processing of the critical mineral titanium has significant vulnerabilities, including dependence on strategic competitors for the supply and processing of titanium. The committee believes that the United States should seek to eliminate dependence when it comes to the supply and processing of titanium, with support from allies and partners. Furthermore, the committee believes the public and private sectors should cooperate closely to establish titanium processing facilities in the United States or in other trusted partner countries. Therefore, the committee directs the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with the heads of other appropriate Federal departments, to submit to the House Committee on Armed Services an unclassified briefing not later than December 31, 2022, that includes:(1) a description of the public and private sector activities to cooperate and establish efficient titanium processing facilities in the United States or in trusted partner countries; and(2) an analysis of how such facilities will help the United States reduce dependence on strategic competitors\**.**\** SEE ALSO ~Armed Services report to the Senate supporting (2023 NDAA)https://www.armed-services.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/fy23_ndaa_bill_report.pdfSUBTITLE B— NATIONAL DEFENSE STOCKPILE (***There is more in the document for those interested!) Modification of acquisition authority under Strategic and Critical Materials Stock Piling Act (sec. 1411)The committee recommends a provision that would amend the Strategic and Critical Materials Stock Piling Act (50 U.S.C. 98d) in order to give the National Defense Stockpile Manager greater flexibility and agility to acquire critical materials, including rare earth elements, that are necessary to meet the requirements of the Department of Defense.Briefings on shortfalls in National Defense Stockpile (sec. 1412)The committee recommends a provision that would amend section 14 of the Strategic and Critical Materials Stock Piling Act (50 U.S.C. 98h-5) to require the National Defense Stockpile Manager to submit, not later than March 1 each year, a briefing to the congressional defense committees on strategic and critical materials shortfalls.Authority to acquire materials for the National Defense Stockpile (sec. 1413)The committee recommends a provision that would authorize the National Defense Stockpile Manager to use, of the funds appropriated for the National Defense Stockpile Transaction Fund, $1.0 billion for the acquisition of materials determined to be strategic and critical materials required to meet the defense, industrial, and essential civilian needs of the United States. *********Please see Response to the following question: Jan. 2023Jim: Given the information posted above-***A) Can you offer a comment on how the Scandium, Titanium & Niobium mining & processing facilities MENTIONED above would help or affect the outcome of the Elk Creek Mine Project moving forward?*See Response: "The Congress is focusing more intensely now on the need to encourage greater domestic production capacity of scandium, niobium, titanium, and rare earths. The language contained in the House Report accompanying the FY23 NDAA requires DoD to brief the House Armed Services Committee on each of the topics mentioned related to scandium, niobium, and titanium. These initiatives show that our education efforts, and those of others, are moving these elements to a much higher visibility with Congressional leaders. That is very good for our Project for a number of reasons. The findings and recommendations of these studies can often spur Congress to take more definitive actions (e.g., funding availability) of Projects such as ours." Those alloys are used in the construction, automotive and transport, aerospace and defense, oil and gas, and other industries. Niobium is a $3.3 billion per year global market but is currently served by only three major niobium producers in two countries.Niobium chloride would likely be converted by NioCorp into niobium oxide, but niobium chloride is also used in glass and ceramic manufacturing.Niobium oxide is critical to multiple applications, including niobium-lithium-ion batteries, superalloys, superconducting applications, capacitors, specialized optics, and many others. Its use in niobium-lithium-ion batteries is considered by current niobium producers as one of the fastest growing prospective global niobium markets. https://preview.redd.it/2eqlicc1fd4b1.png?width=250&format=png&auto=webp&s=450527c6d82996ee66f571526fb245d7b8b25fb4 MAY 26th 2023~NioCorp Demonstrates the Ability to Potentially Double Projected Titanium Recovery Rates for the Elk Creek Projecthttps://www.niocorp.com/niocorp-demonstrates-the-ability-to-potentially-double-projected-titanium-recovery-rates-for-the-elk-creek-project/ Demonstration Plant Shows New Recovery Process May Double NioCorp’s Titanium Production per Tonne of Ore as well as Produce a Higher Purity Product that May Command Higher Market Prices – NioCorp Developments Ltd. (“NioCorp” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ:NB) (TSX:NB) is pleased to announce that it has successfully demonstrated an ability to potentially double the recovery of titanium from each tonne of ore the Company expects to mine at its Nebraska-based Elk Creek Critical Minerals Project (the “Project”), once project financing is obtained and the commercial plant is constructed. The new process is expected to produce a purer form of titanium that may command a higher price than is assumed in NioCorp’s June 2022 feasibility study for the Project (the “Feasibility Study”). NioCorp’s demonstration plant in Trois Rivieres, Quebec, has shown that the Company’s new and improved recovery process can likely achieve an 83.7% rate of overall titanium recovery to final product. This compares to a 40.3% titanium recovery rate in NioCorp’s previous process approach. Benham wants to deregulate the SEC's oversight over Crypto tmrw in a House AG hearing, taking on that oversight role of Crypto himself.🔥
![]() | Big mystery: Any one wonder what Chair CFTC Rostin Benham will say at the House AG hearing tomorrow on the pro-crypto bill that guts SEC investor protections & empowers crypto-friendly CFTC? You don't have to watch: just replay Rostin’s fawning sucking up to FTX’s SBF. submitted by welp007 to Superstonk [link] [comments] Remember, CFTC Chair Benham met at least 10 times w/SBF in their attempt to get the CFTC to approve their anti-investor predatory model; Benham promised last year to release his/CFTC calendars showing the incestuous relationship, but never did. 🧐 No one should listen to the guy who was SBF FTX's partner in promoting FTX's special interest legislation that, surprise, took away SEC protections & expanded CFTC jurisdiction; read washingtonpost ToryNewmyer on the "courtship": Article transcript: Fried’s courtship of a Washington regulatorThe FTX executive wanted the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to oversee crypto. So did the CFTC’s boss, Rostin Behnam. Before his undoing this month, crypto magnate Sam Bankman-Fried aggressively pursued powerful allies in Washington. None was more important than Rostin Behnam. The chief of the federal agency that oversees commodities markets, Behnam holds a strategic perch among the nation’s financial regulators. And the 44-year-old Washington bureaucrat was indispensable in the boyish billionaire’s ambitious plans to reshape U.S. crypto regulation. Since last year, the two have worked in parallel on critical initiatives which, if not for the sudden demise of Bankman-Fried’s FTX empire, might have radically altered the nation’s attempts to govern the freewheeling market for digital currencies. Now that FTX has collapsed amid allegations of fraud, those initiatives may be doomed. But as the financial world examines why major firms threw hundreds of millions of dollars at the 30-year-old Bankman-Fried, the capital is looking anew at his courtship of Washington and why he sought to build ties with Behnam and the agency he leads, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The most ambitious of the two initiatives entwining the two men is a bill in Congress — one outlined by Behnam’s agency and then loudly backed by Bankman-Fried, who commanded a phalanx of lobbyists and public relations people. The bill would put the CFTC largely in charge of crypto exchanges like FTX. As the overall value of digital currencies swelled in recent years to as much as $3 trillion, some members of Congress and consumer advocates have clamored for clearer rules and stronger oversight of crypto trading. But many of the same advocates calling for regulation oppose the regulatory bill favored by Behnam and Bankman-Fried because, they say, the CFTC is too small, too lenient and less prepared than the Securities and Exchange Commission to undertake oversight of the burgeoning realm of digital currencies. Bankman-Fried, though, was a big fan: “It’s a well-done bill,” he said in an interview last month with The Washington Post. “And it’s well-positioned.” Behnam pushed for the legislation, too. The measure — co-sponsored by Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), whom Behnam previously served as a senior aide — would considerably expand his agency’s reach and budget. While drumming up support, he predicted that regulation by his agency might even profit crypto businesses: “Bitcoin might double in price if there’s a CFTC-regulated market,” he said this fall at a conference at Georgetown University. The second initiative to join the two was Bankman-Fried’s novel proposal to the CFTC last year. The proposal forced regulators to rethink how risk is handled in all commodities trading — not just crypto exchanges — and could have had profound economic implications, supporters and detractors agreed. For FTX, the proposal would have allowed customers to make sophisticated cryptocurrency bets with borrowed money directly through its exchange website FTX.US, rather than making such trades through brokers. Some federal regulators have warned that the idea could harm consumers and destabilize markets, but CFTC officials spent months in discussions with FTX as it developed the proposal and, in public comments, Behnam offered positive remarks about the idea. Behnam repeatedly said that his agency had made no decision, but behind the scenes, according to Terry Duffy, chief executive of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, agency officials wanted to approve the proposal. They staunchly defended it in conversation with him this spring — so much so that Duffy, an opponent, told them he would sue the agency over it, he said. In his view, all of Washington seemed to be entranced by Bankman-Fried’s promises of innovation. “I’ve been [going to] Congress for 25 years — I’ve never seen a Washington, D.C., like I saw that time, from the regulators to the members of Congress, singing hymns that I’d never heard before,” Duffy recently recalled of his May visit to Washington on the On the Tape podcast. “No one else was calling BS on these clowns but me.” “You cannot try to make round holes and square pegs fit just because someone walks into town and sprinkles the infield with other people’s money,” he said. Bankman-Fried had given enough in political currency — donations — to expect to get an audience. The crypto mogul gave $40 million to politicians and political action committees before this month’s midterms, mostly to Democrats and liberal-leaning groups, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks campaign donations. Another senior FTX official, Ryan Salame, gave large sums to Republicans. Behnam declined to comment for this story. At a recent industry conference, though, he said the FTX debacle underscored his previous call to plug gaps in U.S. crypto regulation “This really only elevates the urgency for Congress to pass legislation to address these issues, many of which we are seeing in real time with the FTX implosion,” Behnam said at the conference held earlier this month. A CFTC official said that under existing law, the agency had no authority to probe FTX or most of its affiliates. Aside from two smaller FTX-owned firms that the CFTC already regulates — LedgerX and LedgerPrime — “any suggestion that we could have regulated, examined, surveilled, reviewed, intervened or prevented the issues at the unregulated FTX or any company owned, operated or affiliated with FTX is patently false,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a company the agency regulates. As for Behnam’s push for crypto oversight, CFTC spokesman Steve Adamske said the chair’s “years-long advocacy for expanded authority for the CFTC is driven solely by the fact that digital commodity asset investors and customers remain vulnerable to fraud and manipulation because these markets are unregulated.” Now some are calling for more scrutiny of interactions between FTX and the agency. Dennis Kelleher, president of Better Markets, which advocates for stricter financial regulation, is calling for an investigation into “how FTX ended up having so much influence at the CFTC.” He said the agency missed red flags at FTX, as Behnam demonstrated “a willingness to subordinate the public interest to the profit-maximizing interest of FTX.” All along, as Bankman-Fried and other FTX officials lobbied to make the CFTC their regulator, they professed their admiration for the federal agency. The CFTC is “a very thorough regulator who understands this space very deeply,” Bankman-Fried testified to Congress in May. “We are encouraged that the CFTC has taken such a deep, thoughtful, rigorous approach,” the company echoed on its blog. For a moment after FTX’s implosion earlier this month, though, it seemed that the respect between the billionaire and the CFTC had frayed. Bankman-Fried took out some of his wrath on regulators, saying in an interview with Vox, “f--- Regulators … they make everything worse.” By the next day, he wanted to make clear he didn’t mean all regulators. He tweeted that “there are regulators who have deeply impressed me with their knowledge and thoughtfulness. The CFTC has … But most are overwhelmed.” The CFTC traces its history back to 1922, when the federal government began regulating grain futures. In 1975, it spun off from the Agriculture Department as an independent agency, and in the decades since, it has expanded its oversight from futures for staples such as wheat, metals and oil to more complex financial products. Its authority took a leap forward in the aftermath of the 2009 global financial crisis, when it began policing the multitrillion-dollar swaps market, where traders exchange financial instruments to hedge bets on loans or prices of fuel and other commodities. In 2014, the agency also became the first federal regulator to nose into crypto. At the prompting of then-Commissioner Mark Wetjen, who had been nominated by President Barack O in 2011, the CFTC allowed a company called TeraExchange to facilitate trades based on the future price of bitcoin, a similar sort of maneuver to the financial derivatives the agency already oversaw. The agency later found that the traders on either side of the first such deal completed an offsetting transaction six minutes later in an illegally arranged scheme. The exchange got away with a slap on the wrist, as TeraExchange simply agreed to cease and desist from any future violations. But the regulator had planted its flag over the nascent industry. Wetjen stepped down from the CFTC a year later and quickly found work in crypto, joining the board of LedgerX, a crypto derivatives exchange. The company went on to secure three CFTC licenses that allowed it to facilitate commodities derivatives trades, making it an attractive target for Bankman-Fried as he eyed a future in the U.S. from his Bahamas headquarters. FTX bought LedgerX last year, bringing Wetjen into Bankman-Fried’s expanding constellation of crypto businesses. The crypto executive soon tapped Wetjen to serve as the architect of his aggressive Washington agenda. And Bankman-Fried continued adding former CFTC officials to his roster as he sought to build his Washington muscle. In August 2021, he brought on as general counsel of FTX’s U.S. affiliate Ryne Miller, an adviser to then-CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler, who now runs the SEC. He added Jill Sommers, another former CFTC commissioner, to the U.S. company’s board this September. Behnam, for his part, has seen his profile rise alongside the CFTC’s over the past decade. The New Jersey native went to law school at Syracuse University, cut his teeth working for his home state’s financial regulator and then practiced law in New York. But he landed on Capitol Hill in 2011, with a job advising Stabenow on the Senate Agriculture Committee, which oversees the CFTC. The committee and the agency were busy implementing the Dodd-Frank financial reform law that expanded the CFTC’s scope to include the swaps market. Behnam jumped into that effort and spent the next six years on the committee’s staff, focusing in part on its work with the CFTC. Senate Democrats tapped him to join the commission itself in 2017, and President Joe nominated him as chairman last year. Appearing before the committee that October for a confirmation hearing, Behnam signaled he would try to strengthen the CFTC’s crypto powers, telling senators he wanted to work with them to “reexamine — and if appropriate, expand” the agency’s authority over digital assets. Once FTX hired several former agency officials, its first major move in Washington was a proposal, filed in December 2021, to allow people to make cryptocurrency bets using borrowed money directly through the company’s website, putting up collateral directly with FTX rather than with a broker. For months before it was submitted, the CFTC held informal discussions with FTX about the proposal, and the company made alterations in response, company officials have said. By May 2022, according to Bankman-Fried, his firm had “spent tens of thousands of hours talking with the commission about this proposal.” Little noticed by the public, the proposal provoked strong opinions in the financial world. In May, the CFTC invited industry players, supporters and detractors alike, to a special roundtable meeting. The participants included representatives of BlackRock, JP Morgan, Citi, Citadel, Goldman Sachs and CME. The meeting was titled “Staff Roundtable Discussion on Non-intermediation,” but it was clear to participants that the meeting was about the FTX proposal. Bankman-Fried was there — and the young billionaire, often portrayed as a benevolent tech genius, showed that he could be imperious, too. Proponents at the meeting praised the idea of using technology to enhance market efficiency. It would make the market more democratic, too, they said, by giving more people the ability to bet on the prices of cryptocurrencies. But the proposal also required regulators to reconsider long-standing protocols for how markets should work — removing brokers who could protect consumers and stabilize markets and replacing them in part with computer algorithms. Four hours into the meeting, a consumer advocate and former FDIC attorney, Todd Phillips, hit a nerve, saying the proposal would allow large, aggressive trading firms to prey on unsophisticated crypto traders. Bankman-Fried then took aim at his Washington critics, declaring that when it comes to understanding financial risks, his customers knew better. “I think I feel pretty compelled to say this,” Bankman-Fried began, glaring at some on the panel, a video of the meeting shows. “I’m going to be pretty blunt. Most of the traders on our platform know a lot more about these contracts than many of the people in this room, including many of the people in this room who are condescendingly talking to them about what they do and don’t know. There is some irony in, you know, some of the statements made by people attempting to protect those who know massively more than they do about the topic.” At least through October, Behnam and the CFTC remained publicly undecided on the FTX measure. But in remarks to interested groups, Behnam repeatedly touted the proposal’s potential, saying it could be an important technical innovation akin to the shift in the ’90s from the trading floor to computerized systems. “This is a unique intersection of the crypto space and traditional finance,” Behnam said at a Georgetown University conference last month, according to news accounts. He added that crypto innovators offered lessons for those in traditional markets. “They come into the traditional market space, and they’re just a bit puzzled,” Behnam said. “They’re like, ‘Why do you do it this way? We have a way that’s more efficient, where we can have trading execution that’s quicker with better pricing, and we can have settlement and custody in a much better manner.’ That’s where I think we have to learn from each other collectively.” Behnam refused to say which way the CFTC was leaning on the FTX proposal, but Duffy, the chief executive of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, believed that the agency aimed to approve it. Angry and skeptical about a move he thought would be disastrous for market stability, he went to the CFTC this spring where, he said, the staff rejected his complaints. “They wanted to approve it,” Duffy recalled in the Friday interview with the On the Tape podcast. “I said that would be lovely except that would be an arbitrary decision to approve a regulatory change for one asset class. They argued with me. They said, ‘No, it’s not. We have the ability to do it.’ ” On Nov. 11, the day Bankman-Fried resigned as chief executive of FTX, the company withdrew its proposal. An agency official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a company it regulates, disputed Duffy’s claim that the CFTC had been poised to approve the application. “CFTC staff were nowhere near completing the work that would advance any recommendation to the commission,” the official said. “In fact, in the more than 11 months of review and working openly and transparently that allowed for plenty of public comment, the application did not hold up to our scrutiny.” While the CFTC mulled Bankman-Fried’s application, the executive launched himself on a mission to help the agency expand its jurisdiction to include crypto. A legislative proposal as complicated and fraught as one dividing regulatory authority over a new, booming industry might take years to advance; Bankman-Fried, moving with characteristic speed, tried to get it done in months. There was good reason for the crypto executive’s urgency. He argued that the legislation from Sens. Stabenow and John Boozman (R-Ark.), the leaders of the Senate Agriculture Committee, would unlock a wave of institutional investment into firms such as his by giving big-money players in traditional finance the legal clarity they needed to jump into the sector. The senators introduced their bill in early August, and Bankman-Fried was intent on pushing it into law by the end of the year, a goal he confirmed in an interview with The Post last month. The mission pitted him against a shrinking legislative calendar and detractors who criticized the bill from two sides. Consumer protection advocates said it was too lax on industry and threatened to undermine the power of the SEC, and an increasingly vocal segment of crypto die-hards argued that the bill would enshrine centralized crypto platforms like FTX and snuff out their decentralized competition. Bankman-Fried, however, had a well of political capital to draw from thanks to his prodigious campaign giving. He also had a key ally in Behnam, who would see his power grow if he became the first federal cop on the crypto beat. The agency head’s support for the bill extended beyond supplying Hill staff with its outline. Before the legislation was introduced on Aug. 3, Behnam’s office attempted to get all four of the other commissioners at the agency to sign on to a unanimous statement expressing a positive view of the measure, CFTC officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal agency deliberations. The effort fell short, and Behnam was left to put out his own statement, declaring that the bill arrived at a “critical inflection point where new legislative authority is needed to clarify ambiguities.” Behnam then made the rounds in favor of the bill. He called it a “huge step forward” in a September appearance before the Senate Agriculture Committee. Two weeks later, in what was billed as a fireside chat at NYU School of Law, he dangled the possibility that crypto investors would see a handsome return if the CFTC secured jurisdiction over the market. “Growth might occur if we have a well-regulated space,” he said, adding that bitcoin’s price could double. Now that FTX is in ruins, the measure has encountered new resistance on the Hill and beyond. Gensler, who had refrained from commenting on it until now, noted the bill was backed by FTX. “And you sort of wonder why,” he said at the Healthy Markets Conference earlier this month. “Because it was too light-touch.” |

2023.06.05 06:47 InfernoAA P.U.R.E I Results
![]() | submitted by InfernoAA to FantasyBookingElite [link] [comments] Petite Jupiter is my best friend. Ethan Fadely is my best friend. Atlas Rogue is my best friend. Perfect Quarter Non-Title Champion vs Champion: FBE Television Champion Cactus Mike vs FBE Junior Heavyweight Champion Paddy Murphy The sky was pink, London was rowdy, and our first match was banging. Two of the most adored current champions in the company butted heads in a dream interdivision exhibition, leaving the fans rather torn on who to cheer for, The Ark’s animals making elephant noises for their Cactus buddy, and the Dojo section doing some awfully racist Japanese impressions. There’s never been a more 50/50 split before, and rightfully so, both men bringing the heat to Twickenham. The New Hardcore Legend lived up to his moniker even without the weaponry, beating the planks out of the World’s Most Wanted as evidence for the four defences already to his name, but as always, when you back Paddy Murphy against the wall, that’s when he shines the brightest, crashing down upon Mike with blinding lights like he’s The Weeknd. With Sensei’s teachings reverberating in his ear, it was a strong start to the night for The Sham-Rock N’ Scot Connection as Murphy’s Law was enacted on the sinking boatsman! Paddy Murphy def. Cactus Mike (F) Petite Jupiter Invitational: Arslan Malik vs Ferdinand Maxim vs Guy Fawkes vs Mr. Calcote Miller vs Vix Five Guys. Did you know that’s a restaurant? They’re not meant to be here in England. If you see one, it’s been illegally imported. That left these people mad. They were hungry. Oskar Leube BBQ hours. Learn how to cook, Corey Youngblood. Who can win a Nando’s gift card??? Like anyone deprived of food, these five tapped into their inner cavemen, banging their chests and ready to tear any available meat off the bone. It was cannibalistic. It was gory. It was beautiful. Vix and Arslan Malik hit the deck first, swashbuckled off into the ocean. Guy Fawkes was next, his surname betraying him, no bonfire for him. Boiling down to the Frenchman and the World-Class Working Class Gentleman, England had its clear favourite, cheering on the Liverpudlian, but this wasn’t the 2019-20 Premier League. Oil money was here to save the day, Le Prince de Paris taking home a massive win back to his hexagonal homeland! Ferdinand Maxim (6) def. Mr. Calcote Miller (5), Guy Fawkes (3), Vix (2), Arslan Malik (2) Mark Steel vs Michael Menzies II Mark Steel. Famed telephone pole hater. Liam O’Connor’s best friend (fake Irishmen!!!). He was finally back in action after fending off the Taliban to take on a mortal enemy from the same pond, Scottish Hero Michael Menzies. The last time he fought the Junior, he put a feller called Kalamity in his place, showing him how Death to Juniors cruelly rules his painfully insignificant existence. But then Michael discovered the meaning of true friendship. Steel was screwed (pun). Watching his friend beat the odds in the opener was all the motivation the Future-Proof needed to kick DTJ’s door off its hinges and beat Mark over the foot with a bedpan in the ER, hatred being translated into excruciating levels of agony both ways. When they found themselves on their last legs, the hometown UK laddie knocked the breaks off Peak Performance, Menzies avenging his cold Spring by injecting further warmth into his Summer! Michael Menzies (15) def. Mark Steel (7) Simon Brown vs Kentaro Sakamoto vs Travis Broski Three cool dudes with attitudes. This is not a restaurant. But this is a banger all the same, no mash needed. All getting their big breaks through tournaments, they found themselves in a league of their own here to crown which of them holds the most potential to rule the Blitz lands one day, smashing each other’s heads into canvases and destroying buttons on their controllers to make their efforts known. Obligatory Fire Pro Wrestling World reference. This match was not for the faint of heart (PC gamers) as real men did real men things like they’re William Regal. Simon Brown made it all look too easy the buttery-smooth competitor he is, but butter can both be sliced through, or for those Republicans with guns, shot through. Guess what Kentaro Sakamoto did? Boom. No more gun control in England. It’s Anarchy in the UK. It’s Sex Pistols. WAITWAITWAITWAITNONONONONO. Famed Undercity Underdog has done it again. He’s snuck in from the back of the race when everyone thought he’d be the next victim of a licence to kill, deporting the competition to win! Brock Lesnar was here. Travis Broski (11) def. Kentaro Sakamoto (7), Simon Brown (4) Unadulterated Quarter James Scott vs Jason Beggs He went from undesirable to ir-goddamn-resistible. He is Jason Beggs and he wants to fight (Fit Finlay gimmick infringement). He’s not settling for the little koi in the ponds though. He went fishing for the big one. He reeled in an entire James Scott. And thus, the fate of humanity hung in the balance. Did Jason bait him in successfully? Did James’s 1000 word-long title do the trick? Can Beggs pronounce salmon? Will Ospreay can’t. Can Scott pronounce salmon?????? This was the end of what we used to know, a once young phoenixed Beggs on the cusp of greatness by spreading his wings over the accomplished inaugural Lifeline Classic winner, wanting another feather in his cap. The Purest Protagonist wasn’t about to let the story not be about him though, trying to give Jason brain damage if it meant remaining relevant, though even with his brains turned to mush, his spirit wasn’t, Beggs bursting through Scott to infinity and beyond! That’s what’s up. Jason Beggs (13) def. James Scott (6) Battle of the Best II: DTJ (Misery, Hunter Maguire, Joshua Epps) vs PROVINCE (Sebastian King, Erick Koeman, Karma) vs The RISE (Ripley, John LaGuardia, Victor Williams) This is the greatest match of all-time. Firestorm 81 can go die. These 9 men did it infinitely better. DTJ. PROVINCE. The RISE. The goddamn future of our industry. 3 of these even have the chance to main event BTE this year. One of these was in the Shining Light League Finals. Another was in the Punish & Crush II Finals. One dominated the Junior Division for record-breaking lengths after winning the Gedo Classic III, two won the Television Championship and another one may do so soon. This was drama at its finest. An utterly insane sprint Dragongate-style with enough hot tags to cook an entire steak. These 9 made me love wrestling again. Competition remaining tight as ever until the final whistle was blown, no one left here a loser, but DTJ sure cemented themselves as trophy-worthy, taking home the second Battle of the Best in Misery’s home country! DTJ (Misery, Hunter Maguire, Joshua Epps) (9) def. PROVINCE (Sebastian King, Erick Koeman, Karma) (7) and The RISE (Ripley, John LaGuardia, Victor Williams) (4) EED vs JOHN These are two freaks of nature. They don’t make professional wrestlers like these anymore. A skull-screwing, bone-breaking history-maker who competed in the first FBE match ever of both a Firestorm and PPV capacity against a lady-fainting, no-nonsense hunk of a brute who’s been leading his own rise through the pages of encyclopaedias, turning everyone into his playthings. This was big. This was meaty. And they damn sure slapped each other to oblivion and back. JOHN, looking to take the ALL CAPS throne for himself, took the fight to his predecessor, yelling that the future is now, old man. The Notorious wasn’t walking off into the night that easy though. He knows of the Long Knives. All risks will be taken to avoid a repeat. Pummelling each other with such intensity to make even Stan Hansen take a few paces, these two physical specimens wore each other down to fine granules of sand, with the Misfit stomping the OG back to the past! JOHN (16) def. EED (6) Regal Quarter Nate Matthews vs T.M Imran It’s T.M Imran time, baby. PRIMETIME forever. Capital STEEZ loves him. Ethan Fadely loves him. Conor Cassidy loves him. But Nate Matthews had no love for the Pakistani. He didn’t want no Biryani nor Nihari. He wanted to stomp out the fire of the Fifth Asian Tiger. Pouncing on one another like wild animals in the savannas, there was no love lost between these two, bloodlust fuelling their insatiable desires to pack pack kill kill. Imran’s path to immortality required butchering the God Butcher and he was all for it, the fury of Gods in him like Shazam bringing out the best in him, though Nate was never as much as two steps behind even this deep into his veteran years. Giving him the Living Legend treatment, he put T.M through the toughest test of his life, but Imran walked out of it an even better competitor, finally taking down the man who refused to show him respect the easy way! T.M Imran (12) def. Nate Matthews (8) Bong vs Bengt Holm I want you to stop and really think for a second. Can your life get better? Can it get worse? How do we get through each day, closer to the Earth by every second, knowing there very well could be more to life, and yet we painstakingly ignore it? Wake up. It's time to fucking sort yourself out. You take the kids to school yet? Did you even make them breakfast? Do you ever? Did they learn to tie their shoes by themselves or did you show them? Society is crumbling and all we do is type and wank and touch ourselves. Touch something. Something different, something new. Touch grass, feel ass. And that is why I'm officially declaring my support for ma.çé & mån.sôör's 2024 Presidential Campaign. We have to strive to be better, and these two right here are the ones to do it. My god the sex appeal is just off the charts, the fashion? Don't even get me started. They put the rizz in charizzma. It's an out-of-body experience just to absorb a second of the same air that they consume. They say cleanliness is second to holiness, I think they're wrong. I think it's second to the Maximum Male Models. It's time to push them. Bong out. Bengt Holm (16) def. Bong (6) Atlas Rogue vs Ethan Fadely VII This was it. The final frontier in a legendary rivalry between two of the finest wrestlers FBE has ever seen in its 1000+ days. The Godfather of Pure Rules, King Blitz, Atlas Rogue. The Son of the Roses, The Aether Ace, Ethan Fadely. One of the greatest of this match type against 2022’s Wrestler of the Year. Sol Ace was at his deadliest yet here after damn near having his career ripped from him at the hands of Fadely, only the work of the finest surgeon able to patch him back together for this bout to be sanctioned. Ethan, meanwhile, was no less as savage as had been seen in each previous war against one of his most despised people on the planet, emulating his cold-blooded performances at each past New Beginning to put the fear of God into any sensible individual. But for Atlas, sense had left the window eons ago. This man took what was most precious to him and pissed on it. He laughed and mocked and beat King Blitz at his own game. Revenge was not only desirable but necessary. As the cowboys drew their pistols one last time, it was Ethan’s rose-coloured insides spilled on the canvas, Atlas walking off into the Sun, 4-3 in his favour! Atlas Rogue (13) def. Ethan Fadely (10) Excellence Quarter British Rounds: Desmond Caid vs Capital STEEZ VIII Still going, baby. Team Jimmy? Team Steve? Non-Title: FBE World Heavyweight Champion Inferno vs Petite Jupiter III Bloodshed between enemies is undoubtedly hellish, but bloodshed between brothers is the most viscous kind that could ever be found, and the blood which remained between Inferno and Petite Jupiter was the thickest of all. Once holding the FBE World Tag Team Championship together to now treating one another like strangers in the night, an underlying bitterness wafted about the London air, the Aether Ace needing to beat one of two men he’s never been able to, and the Shining Light adamant to bring his brother back from the depths of darkness whilst getting a lick on his championship that’s long eluded him. Even after a year and a half away, PJ turned the clocks back effortlessly against the FBE World Heavyweight Champion, reminding his hometown why he was in the match to crown its first titleholder all those years ago, and especially giving the Brummie Bastard painful flashbacks to each time he failed to block out the light. And yet, even with Jupiter’s seamlessness, something had changed, though not within him. It was Inferno, continuing to perform unlike he has in the many preceding years. Having evolved into his final form – a simply cruel force of nature, tearing through forests of wisdom and saplings of potential – there was no stopping Papa PPV’s wrath, recreating the scenes of the first Carnage Tour as he left his brother for dead! Inferno (17) def. Petite Jupiter (4) FBE Pure Championship: Shining Light League Winner FBE World Tag Team Champion Dr. Logan Wright (c) vs Apeirogone 3rd Defence 3 months of a gruelling Shining Light League and possibly 6 more of deliberate brick-placing have led to this moment. 9 months ago, Dr. Logan Wright captured the FBE Pure Championship for the very first time. 9 months ago, Apeirogone waged his first war on The Ark in his first and only Pure Rules match to date. Whilst Cactus Mike was taken down, two stone pillars stopped the Infinity Ace dead in his tracks, Code Blue and Kaze Tanaka seemingly ending his story. That is, until the final member called his name from the mountaintop. The Ark’s 2023 MVP, the Final Boss of Blitz, the now only two-time Pure Champion looking to make his third defence and sixth overall his most iconic yet, he challenged the Final Boss of FB in his career’s most crucial match yet. And for the first majority of their dream fight, it was shockingly one-sided, the Medicinal Magician enforcing a lockdown on his division, reminding Ape that even for all his incredible accomplishments, this wasn’t his home, nor was it his match to lose. But then, the first glimmer of hope arose. Apeirogone, bounding back like he’s always done, refusing to let an unfamiliar environment get the better of him. But no, he met the Earth again, being forced into the dirt by the unyielding boot of FBE’s Resident Doctor, once more seeming to have him beat. And yet, it still wasn’t over. Channelling otherworldly levels of motivation, Ape simply refused to go out this way on his second lease on life, reminding Logan what the true makings of a Final Boss are. Even when you knock them down, even when you think you have the advantage for the briefest of moments, they’ll cruelly wrench that away from you in a heartbeat. And that’s exactly what the three-time World Champion did here, teaching Wright he still has some ways to go before he’s the all-encompassing Final Boss he desires to be, the veteran once more being the downfall of the Doctor as Apeirogone became the fifth FBE Pure Champion in history! Apeirogone (12) def. Dr. Logan Wright (c) (11) to win the FBE Pure Championship What a goddamn rollercoaster of a show, lads! Incredible work from everyone who participated on one of the biggest Fantasy Booking cards we’ve ever had. With the past, present, and future all gathering to stamp their names into the annals of what will become a grand annual spectacle, you should all be very proud of what you’ve accomplished and continue to accomplish here. We’ll be taking a breather for a couple weeks until after WarZone V with Blitz so rest up, get your energy back, and get ready for another long stretch into our next PPV – August’s Rush Hour! Pure rules. |
2023.06.05 00:12 The-Lapis-Lazuli My Creature Submission for Ragnarok: Koolasuchus titanus--The Alchemical Predator!
![]() | Check out the link and drop a vote if you want this creature in the game! submitted by The-Lapis-Lazuli to ARK [link] [comments] https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/forums/topic/690197-koolasuchus-icy-hunte&do=findComment&comment=3423860 Introducing Koolasuchus! I’ve submitted this creature a few times before, but this one has been revamped and almost entirely reworked from my previous iterations to make it unique among the other semi-aquatic Ark creatures, and balanced I hope around vanilla gameplay while still adding some new, unique gameplay mechanics that I hope you all will like! https://preview.redd.it/1fgt2u56r24b1.png?width=2015&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad35993faefe250c45b4db56db7fe6c91e228d0b Dossier: Common Name: Koolasuchus Species: Koolasuchus titanus Time: Early Cretaceous Diet: Carnivore Temperament: Aggressive Wild These colossal amphibians lurk in the swamps and rivers of the Ark in search of food for their endless appetite. Because of their size and stature, this means that just about anything small enough to fit in their jaws is potential prey. Because of its amphibious nature, Koolasuchus, much like many modern frogs, breathes through its slimy, mucus-covered skin. This allows it to breathe both air and water, however, this mucus can dry out if it remains on land for too long. This mucus-covered skin has the side-effect of making Koolasuchus immune to the traditional tranquilizing methods. Instead, I have observed some survivors utilizing narcotic traps and grenades to release a gas that the Koolasuchus absorbs through its skin, causing it to fall unconscious and become tameable. Domesticated Because of their absorbent skin, some more technologically advanced tribes have created an alchemical saddle that can adapt this mucus to various different liquids and substances around the Ark. I’ve seen Narcotic fueled Koolasuchus that can knock out even the strongest tames with a few bites. Some braver (or stupider) survivors have given them Beer which makes them even more powerful, as long as they have a continuous supply… Being amphibians, they must breed underwater, and the young tadpoles must stay underwater for the majority of their growth to adulthood. Gameplay: So to break down what the dossier explained a bit better and explain how it might function ingame, here’s the concept that I’ve come up with. As the dossier stated, tranq arrows and darts have no effect on Koolasuchus. Instead, narcotic grenades and tripwire traps are the only way to build torpor on it to knock it out. Once it’s unconscious, it is a standard carnivore tame that uses Exceptional Kibble. The drying out idea, at least how I imagined it working ingame, would mean that Koolasuchus can only spend a certain amount of time out of the water. Maybe 5-10 minutes by default. Or maybe it's connected to the oxygen stat in some way. Always open to people’s ideas. Once this timer runs out, it would start taking damage, be heavily slowed and sluggish, and deal reduced damage, similar to Megalosaurus when it has max sleep debt. Koolasuchus’ Saddle would be fairly late-game. I imagine that it has some chemistry bench functionality/crafting built in so maybe level 82, the same as the Chemistry Bench. It would be crafted at a Fabricator, and can be equipped with ONE of the following at a time:
https://preview.redd.it/yr2ctw3kr24b1.png?width=2015&format=png&auto=webp&s=115f065cbff8df335612f238f50b3304fb807d33 Abilities: Lmb: Bite. Standard bite attack with a large range. Rmb: Grab. Koolasuchus picks up a creature in front of it, if it is within range, and begins to chomp down on it, doing DOT based on its Melee %, and draining stamina. If Koolasuchus runs out of stamina, the creature is dropped on the ground. In addition to this, much like Tropeo grab, a creature that is being ridden, or a player, can attempt to escape. If the Koolasuchus reduces the creature to 0 HP, it is swallowed whole, healing the Koolasuchus based on the max health of the creature, and transferring all harvestable resources and any items in its inventory directly into the Koolasuchus’ inventory. Koolasuchus CANNOT Bite and has incredibly reduced movement speed while it has something grabbed in its mouth. C: Tail attack. A rear-facing tailwhip attack that does less damage than the standard bite attack, but more knockback. Ctrl: Roar. No damage, aesthetic roar. Utility: Koolasuchus can fill a variety of niches for you and your tribe with its extensive utility depending on what you infuse into its saddle. Statwise, I imagine it's somewhat comparable to a Megatherium or maybe an Allo. With the right buffs paired with their ability to consume medical brews, I could maybe even see them being used in certain boss fights. Bug Repellant infused saddles make them contenders for the Broodmother fight, and Beer infused saddles allow them to possibly take on some of the stronger bosses, as long as there is water in the arena! Their Oil and Narcotic infused saddles could give them some more tactical PvP use as well, and their Antidote infused saddle, while not as strong as a Daeodon healing buff, gives them some more defensive utility. Outside of combat utility, they could be used in caving, taming--keep an eye on the HP of the creature you’re taming however!--and general crossmap travel and adventuring! Conclusion: I hope you guys enjoyed this concept! I’ve been working on it and tweaking it for a few months now making it as interesting and unique as possible. I see a lot of dossier concepts for Koolasuchus and other amphibians that look really cool but where they could very easily just be switched out with any generic extinct crocodilian like Deinosuchus or Purussaurus and still function pretty much the exact same. My goal with this one was to make a concept that could ONLY fit a giant amphibian like Koolasuchu. Which is why I used real life concepts like frogs breathing through their skin--yes frogs really do breathe through their skin…-- to make it as unique and different as possible, and giving it that slight fantasy Ark twist to fit in with the wonderful world that Wildcard has created. I hope that you guys vote for this suggestion, and Koolasuchus finally makes it ingame, given that Koolasuchus, along with Gorgonopsid and some others, was originally planned to be added to Ark at some point and even has concept art done for it, but was unfortunately scrapped. Let’s give Amphibians some more love in Ark! (Original Concept Art done by Dave Melvin) If you liked this suggestion feel free to vote for it! And check out all the other incredible suggestions people have been working on! |
2023.06.04 17:01 DeltaNu1142 Showing off my climate control system... and seeking input on coordination
![]() | I've "arrived," finally, at a solution for climate control in my house that checks a number of boxes that have been empty for a few years. Temps where I am range from extremes of -20 °F in the winter to 100°F in the summer. Winter power outages happen occasionally, so I wanted heating that isn't dependent on electricity. submitted by DeltaNu1142 to homeassistant [link] [comments] Mini-splits When I bought it, the house had an oil furnace with four zones of baseboard heating, and some window AC units for cooling. The window ACs were the first to go. I put in several zones of mini-splits, and used them for cooling in the summer as well as heating in all but the coldest winter days. The mini-splits integrate with HA. Stove & Boiler Since the mini-splits don't check the box of electrical independence, I needed a solution for heat. It didn't take long to start looking at gas stoves, but several months to figure out how to install it where I wanted. I would need to use the existing furnace flue to place the stove in the center of the floorplan, which meant eliminating the oil furnace. I replaced the furnace and tank with a gas combi-boiler, which handles DHW (at a much higher capacity than the furnace) as well as hot water for the baseboards. The combi-boiler has an HA integration, but it stopped working about a month ago. The stove turns on with a relay, and I've created a climate entity for it along with a remote temp sensor. When the power goes out, the stove will operate on a battery-powered thermostat independent of HA. Current state I've spent a lot of time putting together a dashboard for my phone to control everything. The main view shows temps and humidity for each zone, and tapping on the zone opens up the options for heating/cooling that zone: The outer bars are Apex charts and the color stops don't seem to work well; but the outer bar shows temperature while the inner bar shows humidity. The icon in the center is a mushroom template card that shows what the system(s) in that zone are doing: on, cooling, or heating. In the first floor, I can turn on the heat pump and/or baseboards and/or the stove. Each of these are mushroom climate cards. They're not terribly customizable, but they look nice. I'd really like to get rid of the redundant "current temperature" (shown after baseboards state) in the pop-up card. It already shows up at the top of the pop-up. But what I'm looking for most is an approach to estimate costs and automate the coordination of these systems, mostly for heating. Ideally, I would use the heat pumps (electric) or baseboards/stove (gas) based on cost effectiveness... but I have no idea how to calculate effective BTUs from the what data I have. I don't have gas consumption--when the combi-boiler was working, the consumption units (m3) it captured were so large that I doubt I could make much sense of it. I'm wondering what anyone else with multiple systems is doing to coordinate automation between those systems. I use Node-RED for all of my automations. All in all, I'm really pleased with how far I've gotten with HA controlling this stuff. The stove is a real win... I thought I'd have to do something really wonky to gain HA control of it, but it ended up just needing a dry contact. And the cherry on top... I've hidden a Sonos speaker behind the stove so that when it turns on, it loops a 3-hour recording of the crackles and pops of a real wood fire. The wife is less tickled by that than I am. |

2023.06.03 12:50 Simrien Modular Blueprinted Diluted Fuel
![]() | I finished the new diluted fuel modular blueprint build last night. submitted by Simrien to SatisfactoryGame [link] [comments] It's based on 4 blueprints for the elevated section; a cross junction, a straight, a cross junction with pipework and buffers, and a generator section. They join together in any combination with the end sections being generators. The structure is built into the blueprint so every time you place a module you're building the supporting structure. This is based on the same number of refineries and packagers as in my Islands and Blue Crater builds. 150 crude oil drives 33 generators for a total of 4950MW. There are 4 vertical sections in this build for a total of 132 generators producing 19,800MW. The cool thing about this is it now modularises any diluted fuel build on any size crude node. As long as there is a water supply in the vicinity you're good to go. This is my 3rd generation design for diluted fuel with the majority being Gen2. Each vertical requires 4 water extractors or 420 water, I think it's slightly less (6.67×60=400.2), so I built this over one of the craters here in Crater Lakes. The crude well here is capable of supplying 1350 crude. So that's two of these quad units plus a single unit. Feasibly you could stack all four of these vertically. 132÷4=33 floors. This arrangement is 11 floors and covers the footprint of the 4 refinery sections required to drive it. It's a long way up either way with 11×32=352m tall just for the generator section with the refinery section 36m tall roughly at ground level, so pushing 400m. Below the refinery section inside the crater is water packaging and below that the water extractors, another 36m. This simplifies the arrangement of machines in the refinery section and reduces the overall footprint. |
2023.06.03 12:27 Mad_Creator Gorm's Epic (English Version)
![]() | Episode 1 The End of the Exodus A great, huge ship, a real Ark of 130 cubits, was sailing on the flat sea of a blue and sunny afternoon. submitted by Mad_Creator to Gormiti [link] [comments] -…I still wonder why you gave such a name to our ship…- Krom-Nav said, as he steered the wheel. The two brothers always had something to say about each other: Krom-Nav was the eldest, always dutiful and precise in his duties, while Yughy, the youngest, was the more reckless one, always ready to experiment. The first had long brown hair that stopped at his shoulders, light and large eyes, a smooth beard that started under the hooked nose, surrounded the mouth, and ended by covering the chin with a point. The second had shorter hair, hazel, darker eyes, a veil of beard on the chin, both tall, athletic bodied, Krom leaner and Yughy Sturdier, dressed, like the rest of their people on that great ship, in animal furs decorated with the symbols of their people: Five symbols that indicated the elements, Water, Earth, Plants, Air, Fire, which all revered and respected. The two had very different characters: Yughy was impulsive, skilled at manual labor, a hothead who often acted on feeling rather than reason. Krom, on the other hand, was more methodical, more thoughtful, didn't talk much unless necessary, loved to read, and always kept a watchful eye on his people and crew.
-HEY BUT YOU DUMPING ME LIKE THIS?- -EXACTLY!- And laughing, he made his way to the large stern. Their relationship had always been like this, since they were children. Bound by a brotherly love that occasionally cracked, but never broke. Even in the darkest moment, in fact, they were together. 10 years earlier, on a very distant coast, on a misty island, stood the village of Missa, a village known for its constant mist. The Missians were a peaceful people, dedicated to agriculture, livestock and fishing, and worshiped the elements of Nature: The Earth, on which they could build their houses, The Plants, which gave them shelter and nourishment, The Air , which moved their mills and relieved them from the heat, Water, which gave them its fish and quenched their thirst, and Fire, which protected and warmed them in the dark nights. Some of them were called Old Sages: They were those who mediated between the Elements of Nature and the material world, holders of ancient powers with which they were born and which they then handed down to their successors. They could blend in and disappear in the eyes of others, use their magic to perform miracles, could increase their strength and speed dramatically, and could read minds and move objects with their thoughts. The title of "Old Sage" referred to the first Village Chief, an old man who helped his people to settle in that place, facing dangers and vicissitudes using his magic to create bridges, drive away beasts and make the land fertile. Since then, individuals with similar powers, even young ones, have received this nomea, a noble title for those who would have been the guides, defenders, or scholars of ancient primordial arts. There Krom-Nav and Yughy were born. Since they were children they showed innate abilities: Krom spoke with plants and animals, perfectly understanding their moods and intentions without his mouth producing sound, and he was able to exploit the air currents to run faster or make the windmills move, while Yughy was able to manipulate the fire, deflect water in the fields with only the laying on of hands and carried heavy rocks making them float with the power of his mind. Both were in total control of the elements of Nature, and were the most talented of those with their powers. The other villagers respected them, and somewhat feared their power. Krom tried to use his powers to improve life in the village, and was always thinking of his fellow citizens, but Yughi was a much more restless spirit: He composed works of art, sculpting the surrounding hills, but often caused disasters such as landslides and mountain slides, when they pissed him off, he controlled torches to set the pants of troublemakers on fire, and played with water, causing it to float in the air, but when he got distracted, the water fell back, often ruining previously irrigated fields. All pranks that Krom-Nav then had to solve, and the bickering between the two brothers was all too frequent. After a few years, the two grew up, and Krom-Nav was elected full-fledged Sage and head of the village of Missa, while Yughy, also elected Sage, became his trusted second. But not even the time to celebrate, that the tragedy struck the village. A neighboring village, made up of a tribe of hunters and vandals, wanted to take possession of the powers of the Sages of Missa. Thus a war broke out which nearly wiped out the Missians, as the enemies burned houses and destroyed crops. In a last desperate attempt, Krom-Nav defended the survivors of his people, together with other Old Sages and the best Missian warriors, while Yughy shaped with his Psychic power, the metal extracted from the earth, and the wood of the last unburnt forests, a large and stately ship where all the Missians boarded. The few left to defend them sacrificed themselves with honor as Krom-Nav mounted Gheos, and set sail, concentrating his powers and controlling the wind to swell the ship's sails. That terrible night, fortunately, most of the Missians survived, including Yughy, Krom-Nav, and his still infant son, little Lehander. Lehander was now 10 years old, born with one yellow and one black eye, his hair shimmered in the light and turned dull in the shade, he was an enterprising and playful child, also endowed with powers, like his father. While his uncle steered, and Krom, his father, made sure all was well on the ship, Lehander slept peacefully in the hold, where everyone's dormitories resided. As the ship cradled him in the waves, his dreams came alive with strange visions: Before him loomed an ominous mountain, tall, with spiers that seemed to form a thorny crown of pointed rocks, and the front wall carved as if it were an evil visage. From the "mouth" of the mountain, incandescent lava and magma came out, a real river of death, and from it arose monstrous creatures with red and yellow skin. Then the dream became absurd, moved, strange, many different images of strange creatures fighting against fire demons, until everything suddenly stopped. Lehander saw the Volcano, again, but this time from above, and with it a whole island, huge, with blue seas, green forests, steep mountain ranges and all sorts of natural wonders. Then in front of him, a ball of light. When he tried to touch her, he woke up. It was now full night and beside him was his father. -DAD…DAD WAKE UP!- Krom-Nav opened his eyes lazily, seeing his son shaken. -Hey…did you have that nightmare again?- -Yes! But this time it was longer! There was the Volcano, the demons, and then other creatures appeared, and they all lived on this huge and beautiful island in the middle of the sea!- Krom, listened curious, but disturbed. His son not only had both his and his brother's abilities, but he had developed unusual powers: He often saw how the child, in totally random moments, was able to move his own and the shadows of objects hit by the sun, as if they were solid, and he was able to mold them into any shape. In the same way he was able to "take" the rays of the sun or the moon that shone through the cracks in the wood of the ship to illuminate a totally dark place. He also had the unnerving ability to make small predictions: Krom could not get out of his mind how, one day, Lehander said "I'm going to look for a blanket.", and in that instant the climate, which until then had been scorching, suddenly became cloudy and cold, so much so that he had to interrupt the navigation for two days. So those dreams she told him were hard to ignore. They sounded absurd, but what if they were harbingers of something horrific? He couldn't take this lightly, he had learned over the years that chance was nothing more than a way for the mind to justify natural phenomena and destiny. Krom spoke about this a few nights later with his brother Yughy, after Lehander had a similar vision again, but he kept telling him not to worry, while they were at the bow looking at the sea, that probably the child's immature powers made harmless pranks. -Krom, you get too worked up…do you remember, when we were kids, I had that dream about a red-hot rock that would hit me on the head?- -Yes, I remember…you were so agitated that when you finally sat down under a tree and a pine cone hit you, you passed out for hours from terror.- -You never remember nice things…anyway if you notice I was a child, and while you already had conversations with blackbirds and lizards, I still had to figure out how to avoid setting fire to the grove behind the house…- -So you want to tell me that Lehander is only very young?- -And also that his powers sometimes go to his head! Then he's always been a kid with a wild imagination, you shouldn't take it too seriously!- The two continued to converse about it, while the night sky was lit only by moonlight. Krom-Nav continued to be worried about his son's visions, while Yughy continued to reassure him. Krom, however, couldn't get over it, since that wasn't the only thing troubling him. -Sometimes, when he thinks he's alone, I hear him talking as if he were with someone else...often it almost seems like he's "arguing" with himself.- -Maybe just play, don't you think?- -I know my son, and I distinguish well when he plays and when something is wrong. He's had weird attitudes ever since he started walking on this ship. He has powers unlike ours or any other Sage who have come before us, plus it seems as if he is never fully awake…I think this journey has become too long…our people need a place to call home…and this vessel can no longer be. Far too many people were born and died here, and I think that the continuous wandering in the sea for years is doing as much harm to our body as to our psyche.- -I know brother...I know...- Yughy said, as he placed a hand on her shoulder. -…But I'm sure we're almost there. I read the stars yesterday, they seemed to be in the right position, and a few days ago I saw some seagulls in the sky! We are certainly close to the earth!- -You say? What if it was just an islet? A tiny strip of land?- -It will mean that we will replenish the supplies, we could take Lehi and the other children for a walk, and then we will leave again! Where there is a strip of land Often there are others not far away, who knows, maybe after that we won't find a bigger island, or an entire continent!- -…Let's hope so…- -Hey, Hey! Don't make that face. Come on, if I can get that frown out of you, as soon as we stop I'll have Lehander go on a little adventure! As soon as he helps me gather wood, he'll forget about his bad dreams! What are you saying, big brother?- -…Thanks Yughy.- They continued to converse for a while, Krom-Nav felt more and more reassured by the words of his brother, who had always helped him raise his son: While escaping from Missa, little Lehander's mother, Astreg, was killed by an arrow shot straight to the heart. Krom-Nav had not had time to bury her for years, and kept her remains, mummified so as not to lose them, in a remote room of the ship, waiting for a suitable place for her burial. Since then Krom raised his son alone, with the help of Yughy, who often entertained the child, making him do small jobs on the ship, teaching him some magical techniques, and playing the funny uncle. The two spent a lot of time together, often not even Krom knew where Lehander was, only to later find him with his uncle. As the two brothers continued to talk, a yell from the watchtower made them whirl around. -FOG BANK COMING SOON!- The two brothers ran to the helm, which was being steered by one of their best men, Hagar. -What happen?- -We are entering a bank of fog, Krom. Looks pretty thick,- -Fog? But how?- The ship then plunged into fog. All the Missians exited their cabins and made their way to the deck. Lehander reached his father and hugged him tightly, while Krom kept his arm around him. The fog was thick, white, so much so that everyone could feel the steam touching them like a caress, and the salty smell of the sea almost seemed like a sweet aroma. This penetrating fog reminded everyone of the fog of Missa, and caused a sense of nostalgia, serenity, peace in the souls of each of them. Either because of Hagar's caution, or because of the pearly and compact vapor, the mist looked like an infinite Cloud in which the ship was almost swimming. Abruptly, Hagar stopped. Something in the sea was moving. A rumbling was rising from the depths of the sea, and it seemed to get closer and closer. Everyone felt it, and terrified they stood silent, hugging their loved ones. Krom, he looked around, perceived a great, immense force around them. Yughy instead heard only an indecipherable muttering. Then, suddenly, a gasp. The ship began to rock violently, everyone held on to something, the two brothers barely resisted standing. The ship rocked for minutes, until something popped up from the sea: An enormous head, twice the size of the ship, emerged from the water. A gargantuan creature with a reptilian head, mottled and scaly skin, tinged with a brilliant abyssal blue, opened its mouth, emitting a high-pitched dissonant song and displaying thousands of sharp teeth, arranged in a comb, as large as the trees of the ship. His mouth shut, his oil-black eye opened, and he just stood there staring at the ship. Krom-Nav approached the rail, where the eye of the creature scrutinized the ship, while Yughy and Lehander watched the scene amazed together with the rest of the people. -KROM! COME BACK HERE!- -Keep calm…- -KROM! FOR THE SAKE OF THE ELEMENTS, IT'S NOT A DOLPHIN!- -I said stay calm, Yughy…I feel it…it's powerful…but it's not hostile…- -…HOW SHOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU FEEL IT?- Krom got as close as possible. He saw the giant pupil turn towards him, narrow and then widen. He feared neither the ship nor Krom. And he didn't seem to want to attack her. Lehander also approached, as if attracted by that magnificent creature. Krom held his son close, and in the process, tried to use his powers to communicate with us. The only thing he heard were strange words in an incomprehensible language. -Dad...maybe I can understand you...- Krom wondered for a moment, how could his son already know a language that he didn't know either? But he could not let fear dominate him. -...Lehe...be careful...and tell us what the beast wants.- Lehander approached, under the astonished eyes of all. The mighty animal began to make strange noises, but it seemed that somehow, its roaring gurgle and its high-pitched song, resembled words, sentences, a finished speech he was having with the child. Abruptly, he changed, and Lehander turned to face his people. -…He said his name was Murena. It lives a little further on, in its great lair at the bottom of the sea, near a southward current, and a ditch beyond it. She says that she is one of the guardians of this sea, and that she has a friend with many tentacles, with whom she sometimes fights over the place where she likes to eat. Near her lair is also a large Island. If we ask them please we can live there! There's plenty of room, lots of wood, enough food and water for everyone! We just have to not fish too much and not catch too much. She says she has many other friends on earth, and she doesn't want some of them to get angry.- The great Moray eel slowly closed and reopened her eye towards the boat, as if it were a sign of assent. Yughy approached his brother. -…it almost seems that…- -Yes…he understood that Lehander is a “puppy”…and made him understand it easily…- -So, there really is an island…and it's big enough for all the people.- -He also said that there are Beasts like her, if not bigger, that could kill us.- -KROM! HE SAID WE SHOULD NOT DISTURB THEM AS WE ALWAYS HAVE DONE WHEN WORSHIP THE ELEMENTS! YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND! WE ARE ONE STEP AWAY FROM OUR NEW HOME! IF IT'S AS BIG AS IT SAYS WE WOULD NEVER HUNGER! WE WOULD RESIST FOR GENERATIONS AND GENERATIONS! FOR THE FIRST TIME YOUR CHILD WILL TOUCH THE WARM GROUND AND NOT THE COLD WOOD OF THIS SHIP! YOU CAN BURY ASTREG INSTEAD OF ROTTING IT IN THE SEA! IF THIS THING WOULD HAVE WANTED TO EAT YOU IT WOULD ALREADY HAVE DONE IT! LOOK HOW BIG HIS MOUTH IS! THINK WHAT'S UNDER THE SEA! IT'S OUR CHANCE, BROTHER! OUR INVITATION TO A PEACEFUL LIFE FOR US, FOR YOUR PEOPLE! FOR YOUR CHILD!- Krom was torn: On the one hand there was the risk of a trap by that monster, on the other, his people were tired of travelling, tired of seeing only the sea and having to make do to survive. Krom approached his son. -Ask her…to show us the way.- -YES!- Lehander with the most innocent smile he could muster looked at his father and uncle, and turned to the Moray Eel. It remained motionless for an interminable minute, then, its head moved forward, towards the direction of the Gheos ship, its long bluish body began to show itself as it swam towards that direction. It seemed endless, but out of the queue, Krom-Nav realized that his brother was right in his greatness. It was ten times the length of the ship, its serpentine body like a moving mountain range, and the long translucent blue fin that ran along its entire body made it even more imposing to the shocked Missians. The Moray Eel swam ahead of the ship, and began to swim straight ahead to show the way out of the mist. Krom, immediately set to work. -HAGAR! FULL SPEED! SAILS EXPLAINED! WE NEED TO STAY BEHIND IT! YUGHY! REACH THE LOOKOUT AND CLIMB THE MAIN MAST! ALL ELSE BELOW DECKS!- And so they did, everyone took their places, the civilians returned, and Krom stood straight in the bow, followed by his son who watched in ecstasy as the gigantic creature guided them towards the unknown. Mist beat against their faces as the ship went at full speed driven by the wind. The creature accelerated more and more as the clouds cleared, they were coming, the salty smell was slowly disappearing. Then, from the top of the watchtower, Yughy screamed together with the other sailor. -GHEOOOOOOOS! GHEOOOOOOOS! EEEEEARTH!- Krom still couldn't see it, then the sunlight blinded him, Lehander, and Hagar. As their eyes adjusted, they saw her: A gigantic island loomed before them, a huge layer of land surrounded by cliffs and a sea so blue it looked like fresh water, so clear that you could see all kinds of sea creatures swimming beside the ship, known and unknown. Two huge mountains welcomed them, towering over endless expanses of lush jungles and forests, and surrounded by towering mountain ranges that crowned the entire island. It was their promised land. Their new home Yughy, he got off, very excited and joined his brother and nephew. -…Look…WHAT SPLENDOR...- -…Yes…finally…we are home…- -We absolutely have to find a name for her…- -I already have a name for her…- -And what will it be called?- -…it will be our Life from now on…- -Life…you mean..?- -Exactly…GORM…- |

![]() | 3 years ago I had a food poisoning ( I ate and drank a lot for 10 days without being able to poop 💩) and suddenly after that my gut flora messed up (my flora literally get rotten for not evacuating and messed up)... My first first symptom was that my farts stopped smelling (used to smell a lot) and few days later I started having m gut discomfort and more symptoms slowly started to appear. submitted by hermanocabra to Microbiome [link] [comments] Since that moment my gut is messed up and I slowly began to have tons of other symptoms like food intolerances, sometime gut pain, sometimes headache, burning sensation in tongue, sometimes vocal sores, since 1,5 years ago weight loss and unable to gain weigth, overall feeling you are not ok, developed persistent balanitis, sometimes inginal lymph nodes pain, knee pain, strong urine smell sometimes etc etc I did SIBO test, and there was a little bit hydrogen + methane sibo, it was eradicated with antibiotics but nothing really changed in my symptoms. Well in fact my food intolerances sensitivity increased a lot since then. Eating wheat or dairy is fatal since then.... Also colonoscopy and endoscopy were okay. Recently I did my second comprehensive stool test. Is the one attached. What do you think? The first one done 3 years ago showed all bacteria families were very low, but now it seems that my gut bacteria is almost good... Now blastocyst hominis is positive (but not then, so it is not the root cause I guess). Also now there is leaky gut (high zonuline) + inflammation and secretory igA is high. I don't know how to interpret the whole test. Somehow my gut flora composition changed after being intoxicated and the new configuration is not ok for my body because I don't feel well. 2 months ago I was more or less stable, still wasn't able to gain weight but I felt stable. But the new naturopath told me to try oregano oil and my symptoms are much worse now. For sure there is a dysbiosis or some kind of bad flora inside my guts reacting to this oregano. Since then I have pain in my low intestines, also rectum is a little bit inflamed (like a incipient stage of IBD), my balanitis is worse than ever, penis is very red all time. So for sure there is a dysbiosis and some pathogens reacting to this oregano. 1,5 months have passed since this oregano and I'm not able to be stable again as I was before. My inmune system is getting a little bit crazy fighting all the toxins created in my gut. What do you think?? What can I do? Thanks |
