2023.05.28 15:17 neek555 I'm still seeing "It's Chucky's team" "Barkov should give up the captaincy" "Tkachuk needs to be captain"...No. Just no.
Before Matthew got here and showed himself to be a clutch performer and big-time producer, Barkov was under pressure to be a primary source of direct offense. But what we are seeing is the luxury of having the offense spread around. Chucky, Swaggy, the Sams, hell Montour and Ek, all producing for the team.
Barkov is a Selke award winner. He's incredible at driving play, but he is legendary defensively. It might not be obvious and it is not sexy, but he now has a primary role that looks different than last year. He is matched against the best the other team has to offer...and has succeeded in limiting our opponent's successes. Bergeron got back in the lineup and in spite of that, it resulted in us going 3-0 the rest of the way in that series. The top 4 for Toronto were practically non-existent, Carolina's offense sputtered to a near halt. These players didn't forget how to play hockey, and of course Bob is playing at MVP levels, but Barky has the freedom to play shutdown hockey against the league's best. Every PK, every PP Barky plays a role. So many of Tkachuk's heroic and dramatic game finishers are due to Barky. Watch the game 2 overtime winner. Barky wins the faceoff in the O zone on the PP, then goes to the open space in the far corner where he digs the puck out and keeps the play going...dishes over to Bennet. Reino, Chucky and they are running into the dressing room up 2-0 in the series. Barkov doesn't even factor on the scoresheet there but he created the opportunity. This happens time and time again over the course of the game if you are paying attention.
The intangibles. I'm not privy to what is going on in the locker room but every player seems to credit Barkov with the attitude he brings every day, with the level of play he brings to practice, and with the tone he sets in the room. The referees clearly respect him and that can go a long way as well. Not to even mention that the man has creativity, and skating and stick skills that put him in the top few % of players in the world and when given an opportunity to make a jaw dropping play...shows it.
Look past the scoresheet for a player like Sasha and it's pretty easy to see that the team is his. I would bet every other player in that room would agree. This...is my Aleksander Barkov appreciation post.

To get it out of the way first, obviously Avatar 2 was a massive success and is the 3rd highest grossing film of all time with 3 sequels on the way. Now to look over Disney's other major franchises:
Walt Disney Animation Studios: Strange World was a massive bomb of almost 200 million dollars.
Pixar: Lightyear was also a massive bomb of 106 million dollars. Plus with Elementals having mediocre reviews coming out of Cannes it doesn't seem that Pixar would be rebounding this year.
Disney Live action remakes: The Little Mermaids international box office reception has been horrendous. Even domestically there is a decent chance it opens under 100 million which would be pretty alarming considering how reliant it is on the domestic market to break even on its massive 250 million budget. It is going to be very difficult for it to reach the 650 million point to break even, a far cry from The Lion King, Alladin, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book which were all billion dollar or close to billion dollars movies.
Lucasfilm: Indiana Jones 5 has a disastrous reception at the Cannes which is pretty egregious considering how beloved the franchise is even by the hardcore cinephile crowd (Raiders of the Lost Ark made it on the recent Sight and Sound poll). It has a rumoured budget of 300 million which would be difficult to break even on for a franchise that has its last entry 15 years ago and with an 80 year old action star.
Meanwhile new Star Wars films have been announced but haven't been dated yet which has been the case multiple times since lackluster reception to Rise of the Skywalker. Star Wars seems to still have goodwill as a franchise considering the reception to Andor and Jedi Survivor but it seems that at the box office Disney is still not 100% sure about the franchise's viability.
Marvel Studios: Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness made almost close to a billion dollars coming off the hype of a New Way Home and without the markets of China and Russia. But the mixer reception to that movie combined with lackluster critical reception to Thor Love and Thunder, a decline of almost 500 million dollars for Black Panther Wakanda Forever from the original movie in 2018 and Ant Man Quantamania failing to break even is enough to prove that Marvel is on rocky waters as a franchise. Even the success of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has only been possible with an exceptional Word of Mouth that allowed it to overcome weak pre-sales something that proves that the Marvel brand has been damaged and the person responsible for that movie is now heading Marvel's biggest competitor.
It is also worth noting that Avatar as successful as it is is also a franchise that is heavily reliant on James Cameron's further involvement. Cameron has been pretty clear that he would be done with the franchise after the 5th movie which indicates that it is not a franchise that Disney can rely on long term for providing success.

Hello folks,Seriously need some advice and would like everyone’s input. Currently a BDR at SFDC/Slack. I have 8 months of BDR from a small startup, then came in as a BDR at Slack (which is now apart of Salesforce). I’ve been here for 1 year and 3 months and have been able to survive multiple rounds of layoffs during my tenure.
I'm not seeing a path for promotion here. It's pretty complicated but my previous manager that left did not prepare as well for promotion here as she did other folks, and as a result I'm a few months behind my peers. Promotion isn’t based on just sales results, but also networking with leaders and doing “projects” that demonstrate leadership. I haven’t done any of those yet and quite frankly I’m not sure I signed for sales to do all that lol. But on the bright-side I’m at SDFC.
I have a new manager that came in. Dude is a super tough guy, loves promoting chicks and talking nicely to them, is super tough on guys for some reason, but somehow likes me so I'm on his good side. However, he can talk pretty condescendingly and he is a little inappropriate. But he is good at providing career advice. So not really sure how this will all pan out. There’s a company called Deel hiring for SDR. Basically the idea is that I could became an SDR again, and hopefully have an easier time getting promoted.
Would you guys recommend that route if I don’t see a path for promotion at my current role? Or would yall recommend staying where I’m at-least the 2 year mark and I don’t get promoted then, find an external AE role?
The reason why the latter makes sense to me is because quite frankly I’m actually good at BDRing lol. I’ve never not hit my quota but people are telling me in this market, it's going to be extremely difficult to get an external AE. I truly want to level up my skill-set. On the other hand, the other job is fully remote so I’m saving time on the commute and its 100k OTE.

Does somebody have the production numbers of the BMW 1 series, F20 LCI/F20N and in particular the Urban Line edition, 2015-2019?
I happen to own one and I just came to the conclusion, that world wide, there are less than 200 F20 LCI Urban Line editions for sale. Around 100 petrol and 100 Diesel.
In my case, I can only find 11 for sale with my specs. Which is a 118i petrol with a manual manual transmission (disregarding the other options on it which makes it even rarer).

Hi all,
Does somebody have the production numbers of the BMW 1 series, F20 LCI/F20N and in particular the Urban Line edition, 2015-2019?
I happen to own one and I just came to the conclusion, that world wide, there are less than 200 F20 LCI Urban Line editions for sale. Around 100 petrol and 100 Diesel.
In my case, I can only find 11 for sale with my specs. Which is a 118i petrol with a manual manual transmission (disregarding the other options on it which makes it even rarer).

Pros:
- Best tone of any Fallout game. Perfect mix of light touches of dark comedy but a very serious vibe overall.
- Rich with all juice from the RPG golden era of the late 90s and early 00s.
- Fantastic writing and worldbuilding. Really top class.
- Believable and well-thought out world. Stands up to scrutiny.
- Dated and clunky.
- Poorly balanced in many ways. Some skills are useless. Others are near mandatory.
Pros:
- Similar to Fallout 1 in many ways but expanded.
- Some of the most interesting quests and locations in all of Fallout. New Reno, Vault City, etc.
- The first half of the game is peak Fallout.
- Too whimsical and jokey in many ways compared to the first. The tone is not as good.
- The final act of the game is kind of weak.
- Shares same issues with being dated and clunky as FO1.
Pros:
- Great fun to explore. Basically built as a post-apocalyptic theme park to get lost in.
- More modern and inclusive design which is nice for some. Interesting to see Fallout in 3D.
- Cool setpieces and atmospheric storytelling is top tier.
- Put Fallout into the mainstream.
- The world doesn't make much sense. All logic of the world breaks if you stop to think about it even for a second. The famous example is the lack of food but everything that this question represents is an issue.
- Overall poor to mediocre writing.
- Buggy (mods are near mandatory).
- Can come off a bit juvenile with the binary morality and with the tone in general.
- Arguably disappointing reimagining of previously complex factions. BOS generic good guys. Super mutants mindless orcs with guns, etc.
Pros:
- Good mix of 3D Fallout and old Fallout RPG design.
- Great writing and quest design.
- Highly ambitious game.
- Rich worldbuilding. A lot of effort has clearly been spent on imagining how a realistic world would look under this premise and which issues would plague such a world.
- Complex dilemmas and interesting concepts. Overall quite sophisticated.
- Less fun to explore for many. Less of a "go have an adventure" game than Fallout 3.
- In the same vein: dungeon design is often boring.
- Buggy (mods are near mandatory).
- Feels undercooked in some areas. It's clear that Obsidian didn't flesh out everything they wanted to. This is the downside of the "Highly ambitious game" point. Caesar's Legion for instance is a clear example of a faction that needed more development.
- Balancing issues in some ways. Speech is way too good for example.
Pros:
- Much improved combat. Best in the series.
- Many technical improvements.
- Fully fledged out crafting system.
- The "pick a direction, go on an adventure and explore" theme park strength of Fallout 3 remains.
- Much better companions than Fallout 3.
- Departure from RPG to instead move into more of an open world adventure game / RPG hybrid. An improvement to some, a big step back for me.
- Very strange design choices: Voiced protagonist, 4 wheel dialogue system, etc.
- Little to no smaller settlements. Basically every location is a somewhat generic enemy spawn.
- Weak main quest.
- Very big departure from the original tone of Fallout.

Mine are The Amazing Mirror, Nightmare In Dreamland 3, and Kirby Superstar (8 games in 1, 1996) on the SNES!! They are my favorites. But of course just the very first one is good enough for me. Kirby is friggin awesome! There are a few DS ones I like, but for some reason the SNES and GB/GBC/GBA series and gameplay really got a better hold onto me than other systems/releases. Unless it’s on a retro handheld gaming device. Yet, I still can say I’d be happy and love anyone I would get the chance to play though. I wouldn’t turn anyone down :)
