2023.03.30 08:04 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA V Crowned Best-Selling Game Of The Decade, But Call Of Duty Dominates Top 10 List

The new decade has everyone feeling a little bit reflective, including fans of video games. The NPD Group, Inc. recently released a ton of information about the gaming market over the last ten years. This information included the best selling games of 2019 and the best selling games between 2010 and 2019. Grand Theft Auto V was the best selling game of the decade across all platforms, but the Call of Duty franchise truly won the 2010s.
The NPD Group, Inc. is a New York-based market research company that tracks twenty different industries. Mat Piscatella, a video games market research analyst, recently posted on Twitter the information that the company has gathered both over the last year and over the last decade. Grand Theft Auto V, with an estimated 110 million copies sold. However, the Call of Duty franchise may be the true MVP of the decade. Ten out of the fifteen most popular games in the 2010s were Call of Duty games. This includes the most recent addition to the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The best selling Call of Duty game was Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game was originally released in November 2010 for Microsoft Windows, the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, and OS X and was later released on mobile. There may even be a reboot in 2020.
Play
Several of the other best selling games of the decade are not a surprise. These games include Red Dead Redemption II, Minecraft, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Mario Kart 8, Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, Destiny, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Star Wars Battlefront 2015. All of these games made a splash in the 2010s and some even inspired memes and their own cult followings.
The NPD Group, Inc. also released information about consoles. The Playstation 4 was the best selling console of the 2010s, while PS4 Dualshock 4 wireless controller in black was the best selling accessory. However, the Nintendo Switch dominated 2019. It was the best selling console of the year and Switch Pro controller was the best selling accessory.
call of duty modern warfare gameplay Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019)
The best-selling games of 2019 were a little more shocking. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was unsurprisingly the best selling game of 2019, but it was followed by NBA 2K20 and Madden NFL 20. They beat out games such as Borderlands 3, Kingdom Hearts III, and the Outer Worlds which were games that were generally better reviewed and received more hype.Games from series like NBA 2K and Madden NFL appear to have a strong, consistent fan base.
What can the numbers from the 2010s tell us about the video game industry? There have been a variety of interesting games that have come out in the last decade, but the most popular genres appear to be first person shooters and action adventure games. It also seems that many video game fans were drawn to the “open world” concept. Will these preferences continue to reign throughout the 2020s? NPD Group, Inc. reported that that video game spending in general declined in 2019, but it is still a major industry. What do you think HotHardware readers? What video game trends will be the most popular in the 2020s?

2023.03.30 08:03 DMT-1989 Any OG AM4 users here?

I missed AM4 completely. I went with intel for the i9-9900k series and it was amazing never had a single issue with the build. Fast forward I decided to upgrade on launch to a 7950x and Asus X670E Gene and I'm having so many problems now. I'm not even going to list them. In a nutshell, every bios update has caused some kind of instability and setting change, one day my system just stopped working. At this point it could be any component so I had to check the entire system, what a waste of time. I was forced into a bios update and two hours later after a lot of tweaking managed to get my system to post again. The funny thing is every bios update I've had to change various bios settings in-order for it to post and they are always different after every update. Now the system is stable but I have to reset CMOS every time I restart my PC through windows - Frustrating as hell.
Basically my question to AM4's users is this. How long did it take until AM4 was perfected/matured? I'm kinda disheartened after spending so much money on this platform and having to consistently tweak the bios settings. I hope they can fix all these issues in future updates.
I shoulda taken Jayz2cents advice and warning about early adoption and not be the guinea pig.

5 Features We Would Love to See in Apple's Upcoming Foldable Phone

https://preview.redd.it/i9tni29fhtqa1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=571d1a384102f836a132fee31358c4ea676de785
Foldable phones have taken the smartphone market by storm, with Samsung being the pioneer in this category with its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. While there have been rumors that Apple is also working on a foldable device, we don't know much about it yet. However, we have come up with a list of features that we would love to see on Apple's foldable phone before its official announcement.
Secondary Display
One of the most attractive features of a foldable phone is its secondary display. With a Galaxy Z Fold-style iPhone, Apple can offer a full secondary exterior display that can function like a conventional phone. It could display notifications, enable users to pick up phone calls, and access the camera quickly. Apple may also add an always-on display feature to this screen and address some of the issues that users have with the current iPhone's always-on display.
Self-Healing Anti-Crease Display
One of the significant drawbacks of foldable phones is the crease that appears on the screen. However, this issue has been solved to some extent in the Galaxy Z Fold 4, where the crease is less noticeable than in its predecessor. Apple could follow this trend and offer an anti-crease display on its foldable phone.
IP68 Water & Dust Resistance
Water and dust resistance is becoming an essential feature of smartphones. An IP68 rating means a device is fully dust-tight and can withstand immersion in water more than one meter deep for at least 30 minutes. Although smartphones like the Galaxy S22 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max offer this feature, Samsung has yet to release a foldable phone with an IP68 rating. It remains to be seen if Apple can achieve this resistance level on its foldable phone.
Improved Battery Life
The size of a phone matters when it comes to battery life. With a foldable iPhone, Apple can offer more space for a bigger battery. While the secondary display may affect battery life, Apple's in-house chips and tight software integration can efficiently manage power consumption.
In addition, managing contacts is crucial for any smartphone user, and since Apple does not have a comprehensive phone manager, Core all in one phone manager app is an excellent tool. It offers an easy-to-use contact transfer feature. Users can transfer contacts from their old device to the new seamlessly. This feature eliminates the hassle of manual contact transfer and ensures that users have all their contacts available on their new device.
Final Thoughts
While Apple has not officially announced a foldable iPhone, it's exciting to imagine the possibilities of such a device. From a secondary display to an anti-crease display, water and dust resistance to improved battery life, there are many features that we would love to see on an Apple foldable phone. We can't wait to see what Apple has in store for us with its foldable iPhone.

Another question that fans have been asking is who the protagonist of GTA 6 will be. In previous games, players have taken on the roles of characters like Tommy Vercetti, CJ Johnson, and Niko Bellic. Will we see a return of a beloved character, or will it be someone completely new? Some rumors have suggested that players will have the option to choose their own protagonist, which would be a first for the series. Only time will tell who we'll be playing as in the next game.

2023.03.30 08:02 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Fan Made 4K Concept Trailer Rendered In Unreal Engine 5 Is Drop Dead Gorgeous

Rockstar Games can't release Grand Theft Auto VI fast enough, though as we eagerly (and impatiently) await for the next installment in the long-running GTA franchise, fan made trailers have us drooling at what the actual product could look like. The latest one comes from TeaserPlay, which used Unreal Engine 5 to render several different locations in stunning detail.
The actual game isn't likely to use UE5. Rumor has it that Rockstar Games is leaning on its own proprietary RAGE9 graphics engine, and that's both plausible and, in our opinion, very likely to be true. TeaserPlay acknowledges this in the description to its concept trailer, suggesting it wanted to render several possible locations in UE5 so we'd have something to compare with down the line.
Check it out below...
Play
In the order they appear, the trailer showcases Vice City, San Fierro, Las Venturas, and Liberty City. The shots inside what appears to be a high-rise apartment complex in Las Venturas look especially crisp as the camera pans over a carpet and into a kitchen island with some veggies and pasta in the background, though it's far from the only scene that stands out.
"I/we use the most powerful features of Unreal Engine, such as ray tracing, lumen, nanite [virtualized geometry], screen ppace reflections, and MetaHuman so that the graphics are as close as possible to a next-gen sandbox game," TeaserPlay states.
There are a ton of leaks and rumors surrounding GTA 6. One of the more recent ones suggest there will be at least two playable protagonists, one of which is a Latina woman. The franchise hasn't featured a playable female character in a long time.
Rockstar Games has been rather short on details for the next installment, though it has at least confirmed that GTA 6 is in development.
"With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series," the devloper shared in a blog post last February. "With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered—and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway."
No release date has been mentioned, though Rockstar Games will share its next earnings report in early August. It's possible we will get an update at that time.

2023.03.30 08:02 Mordaunt-the-Wizard [Discussion] My Ranking of Batman Eras, Worst to Best

This is my ranking of what I perceive to be the general eras of Batman comics, worst to best. I'm only including those I've read a good amount of, so I'm excluding the '70s and post No Man's Land material.
8. Pre-"New Look" Silver Age (late-'50s to early-'60s): I really dislike this era. I know there are a lot of silly concepts that are fun to make fun of, but it didn't really add all that much to the character, and unlike with Superman, the Flash, and Green Lantern (among others) the sci-fi bent to a lot of the stories just doesn't work for Batman in my opinion. Also, while characters like the first Batwoman and Batgirl debuted during this period, they pale in comparison to later versions of those characters.
7. Pre-Robin Batman (1939 to very early 1940): Okay, this might be controversial. I think a lot of Golden Age Batman holds up well compared to a lot of other golden age runs. I just think that the first year was too wonky. I do enjoy the stories for what they are (and it also includes my favorite Batman cover ever), but most other eras just have better stories. And while the tone and outfit may be more in line with and helped form post-1970 Batman, they otherwise share little in common with Batman having little character outside of his origin (also, he kills. I don't care for a Batman that kills).
6. Post-Golden Age Pre-Silver Age (early to mid-'50s): Coming off the Golden Age, Batman kept going while a lot of other characters vanished, but I feel like his stories started to stagnate. Page counts getting lowered from 52 to 44 to 36 (plus more and more ads) meant that stories in Batman got only eight pages to tell a story (I think the stories in 'Tec stayed around 12 pages.) That just isn't enough to tell good stories. It's the same reason why both Aquaman and Green Arrow only really started to build their supporting casts and rogues galleries after they finally got their own titles in the '60s and '80s (respectively). We also started seeing less and less of classic villains like the Joker and Penguin and especially Catwoman (who the Comics Code exiled until the end of the silver age/start of the bronze age).
5. Pre Crisis '80s Batman (early to mid-'80s): This kind of feels like a lame duck era leading up to Batman's soft reboot after Crisis on Infinite Earths. Sure, it introduced Killer Croc, and made Harvey Bullock a regular character after his one appearance in the bronze age, but Jason Todd was basically a Dick Grayson clone in this era. At least his post-crisis pre-death appearances informed who he would be post-resurrection. This era was also a pain in the butt to read, because the story would bounce back and forth between Batman and 'Tec. At least with big storylines in the '90s,'00s, and '10s that weave through multiple titles, I can pull up a reading list. With this era, when I took a break it was easy to forget which book I needed to read an issue of next.
4. "New Look" Silver Age (mid-late '90s): This era does a lot right right out the gate. It jettisoned a lot of the crappier supporting cast members and the sci-fi elements, and finally updated the art style that was getting really stale by the early '60s, including introducing the iconic yellow oval around the bat symbol. It also introduced characters like Barbara Gordon and Poison Ivy, and finally made characters like Scarecrow and Riddler major parts of Batman's rogues gallery, after they had only made like two appearances each before this. The only downsides is that it still lacks the tone that makes post-1970 Batman great, and the Adam West series made it quite a bit campier for a year or two.
3. Knightfall to No Man's Land (early to late-'90s): We saw an explosion in Batman minis and graphic novels, and a lot of supporting cast members got their first ongoings: Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, Azrael, and Anarky (you'd be forgiven for forgetting that last one). I do think that KnightQuest went on a little too long, and that we could have probably done without one or two of the smaller events that came between the Knightfall Trilogy and No Man's Land (probably Troika and Legacy.) Also, Catwoman still isn't quite the character she would become in the '00s, and Azrael's ongoing is kind of meh. Legends of the Dark Knight was still awesome at this time, though. It also introduced Harley Quinn and the revamped Mr. Freeze into the comics.
2. Golden Age Batman (1940s): The writing and art may be dated and the stories simple (for the most part), but they are still really well done. The villains may be defined by their gimmicks, but they come up with so many different ways to use those gimmicks. Some of my favorite stories are those that focus on down-on-their-luck people that Batman and Robin are able to help, like criminals threatening to expose the past of an ex-con who went straight to the community he is now a respected member of, for example.
1. Post Crisis Pre Knightfall (mid-'80s to early-'90s): This is the era that finished what (I know) the '70s started. Batman was redefined by Year One, and Joker was redefined by The Killing Joke. Jason Todd was revamped into an original character and then killed. Tim Drake was introduced. We started to get Batman Miniseries and Graphic Novels, including classics like The Dark Knight Returns and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. And finally, we got one of the greatest Batman ongoings (that isn't Batman or 'Tec) in Legends of the Dark Knight.
If you read all of that, thank you. Let me know what you thought of this ranking. What do you agree or disagree with? What are your own rankings?

2023.03.30 08:01 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 Soundtrack: Who Could Be Featured?

The GTA series has always been known for its excellent soundtracks, featuring a mix of popular songs and original music. While there's no official word yet on what the soundtrack for GTA 6 will feature, there are a few artists that fans have speculated could be included:
Drake: The Canadian rapper has a huge following and has been featured in several other video games, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him on the GTA 6 soundtrack.
Billie Eilish: With her unique sound and massive popularity, Billie Eilish could be a great addition to the GTA 6 soundtrack.
Kendrick Lamar: Lamar previously curated the soundtrack for GTA 5's single-player campaign, so it's possible that he could be involved with the soundtrack for GTA 6 as well.
Post Malone: With his genre-blending sound and chart-topping hits, Post Malone could be a great fit for the GTA 6 soundtrack.
DaBaby: With his high-energy beats and unique flow, DaBaby could also be a good choice for the soundtrack.
Of course, this is all speculation at this point and there's no telling who will actually be featured on the GTA 6 soundtrack. However, fans can rest assured that Rockstar Games will likely deliver a fantastic mix of music that perfectly complements the game's setting and story.

2023.03.30 07:59 userhasdied_ newly purchased stearns & foster badly damaged during hauling.

today i agreed to a $2,200 lease-to-own contract via mattress firm for a clearance stearns & foster california king on the slim chance my tax return will hit before the 90 day interest-free period is up. i strapped it to the roof of my sedan and brought it home same day.
four people live in my home: me (25F), my girlfriend (24F), my sister (27F) and her 6yo son.
needless to say, it proved impossible to push this thing across the lawn to the front door and up the 2 steps to the patio. we wouldn’t have even gotten it upstairs if we hadn’t been blessed by the help of a handsome foreign stranger who saw us struggling popped up out of nowhere and did most of the grunt work out of the kindness of his heart.
unfortunately, though, throughout this seemingly endless struggle (which ended with my asthmatic sister in the ER for a nebulizer 😞) all four handles on the bed ripped, and with those tears came huge gaping holes in the pillow top’s edge.
i am devastated, for obvious reasons but also because this is the first time i’ve gotten myself something excessively nice. closest thing price wise would be cars, but a $4k car vs a $4k mattress is vastly different in quality/luxury.
every other mattress ive ever owned had been obtained via facebook marketplace, and more than half were listed for free. nicest one i ever had was a king size casper, which was given to an ex for free when his coworker downsized to an RV, so it was never earned nor was it ever really mine either.
any tips? i can’t sew. i mean, i definitely can, but my experience is limited to stuffed animals and (some) clothing. i don’t feel that my novice skill level would do the trick nor stand the test of time. is there, like, a mattress doctor? who can come into my home and stitch it up? i’m so sad :(

2023.03.30 07:58 cocadunes Series 7 Watch played “find my” sound unprompted

Hello,
It’s nearly 2am EST and my series 7 Apple Watch just woke me up. It was playing the sound triggered by selecting “play sound” in the find my app. The screen showed it was playing this sound and I selected the dismiss button as usual. The problem is, I’m the only person in my family with apple products so no family sharing and I didn’t press it myself. I immediately checked where my Apple ID is logged in and it’s only logged in on my devices. My devices are the only ones that show up in the find my app. All of my apple devices are within arms reach of me when sleeping. My MacBook battery needs charger currently. Both my iPads are closed and locked with covers in place. My room and home are secure and everyone else in my home is asleep. My pets had no access to accidentally press it. How is this possible? Should I be concerned? I’m worried about why this happened and who has access to my location now.
