2023.03.25 11:49 einszviefunf How I went from zero to hero
I used to be a loser. The kind of guy who always got picked last in gym class and spent most of his time alone. I was never good at sports, and I didn't fit in with the popular crowd. But all of that changed when I decided to take matters into my own hands.
It all started when I developed a crush on the most popular girl in school, Jessica. She was beautiful, smart, and athletic - everything I wasn't. And of course, she was dating the star quarterback, Tyler. I knew I didn't stand a chance, but I couldn't help but daydream about her.
One day, during gym class, Tyler and his jock friends were making fun of me for not being able to throw a basketball. I felt humiliated, and I knew I had to do something to prove them wrong. So, I challenged Tyler to a game of one-on-one.
At first, Tyler laughed and told me I didn't stand a chance. But I was determined to win. I practiced every day, and I worked on my technique until I was confident I could beat him. The day of the game arrived, and a crowd of students gathered to watch.
It was a close match, but in the end, I managed to score the winning basket. Tyler was stunned, and his friends were speechless. I felt a rush of adrenaline as the crowd cheered, and I knew that I had finally earned their respect.
But the best part was yet to come. After the game, Jessica approached me and congratulated me on my victory. We started talking, and I found out that we had a lot in common. She was impressed by my determination and my willingness to stand up to the jocks.
From that day on, I wasn't a loser anymore. I had proven myself to be a worthy opponent, and I had earned the respect of my peers. And as for Jessica, well, let's just say that Tyler wasn't the only one who was surprised when we started dating.
Looking back on that day, I realize that it wasn't just about winning a game. It was about proving to myself that I could accomplish anything if I set my mind to it. And it was about standing up for myself and refusing to be bullied by those who thought they were better than me.
In the end, I learned that being a loser is a state of mind. If you believe in yourself and never give up, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve your dreams.

2023.03.25 11:48 Adept_Airline8170 Is Coding Ninjas Institute worth the money they charge for their online programming course?
| "Hello! my friend has attended a Coding Ninjas Institute course, and their online programming courses are not worth the price. Instead, I would suggest Physics Wallah Skills as they offer high-quality education in various computer science disciplines. Their comprehensive curriculum covers all essential aspects of programming languages such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Full-stack web development using MERN stack or MEAN stack, and Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence with Python. The institute provides students with interactive lectures from experienced instructors who are industry experts; they also offer one-on-one mentorship sessions for additional support. Coding Ninjas also provides its students access to their state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS), which includes live class recordings and pre-recorded videos on topics like data structures, algorithms, and dynamic programming. 2023.03.25 11:44 Enough-Age-6170 What are the best learning sites for Python?
| "There are several online learning sites and resources available to learn Python, but not all of them offer the same quality and effectiveness in teaching. In my opinion, below are some of the best learning sites for Python: - Physics Wallah Skills: It is one of the most popular and interactive platforms for learning Python. The site offers an intuitive interface with step-by-step tutorials, quizzes, and coding challenges that make it easy to learn.
- Coursera: With offerings from some of the world's top universities like Stanford, MIT, and Princeton University, Coursera provides a comprehensive curriculum on python programming covering everything from basic syntax to advanced concepts such as machine learning.
- Udacity: This platform offers Nanodegrees designed by industry experts in collaboration with tech giants like Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), IBM Watson AI Labs, among others, dedicated entirely to python programming.
- edX: Similar to Coursera, edX offers courses ranging from beginners' level topics to advanced ones related specifically to data analytics or Machine Learning utilizing Python as its primary toolset.
5.Python.org: Lastly, though not necessarily a ""site"" per se, it does serve as THE official resource guide for anything regarding Python, including its very prominent documentation, which serves almost as a textbook on how to use Python. I have selected these sites based on their reputation within the community, along with presenting content engagingly through video lectures/tutorial-style walkthroughs. 2023.03.25 11:36 Avid_Autodidact Will AI automation of jobs hurt social mobility or even the playing field?
Hear me out, so if in a future where many industries and jobs are automated by the advancement of AI. Wouldn't being able to go from "rags to riches" based on your smarts or hard-work be even harder, seeing as many skills people would learn to rise from poverty like software programming, accountants would be automated etc. Wouldn't people that have generational wealth just stay wealthy? I understand that industries will evolve and new jobs will emerge, I guess the nature of those jobs would partly answer the question.
I mean we hardly live in a meritocracy now. It makes me wonder if it will take society in a more socialist direction and make us consider things like UBI etc with the advancement of AI.
Conversely everyone having access to AI will allow for more opportunities in fields that would otherwise have required specialised skill or resources that are now readily available online. I for one, being at a distance university with no classes whilst working have benefitted immensely from Chatgpt in my studies.
I don't know what to think, its just made me wonder, will AGI level the playing field or just make it worse?

2023.03.25 11:34 desantoos Sorry fellow men, but I cannot do the whole Only Eat Meat thing. I just can't.
I got invited to a Men's Night last night. A lot of it was really damn fun. We did carpentry, did sports, watched sports, and all the secret men's stuff I won't share here in case the ladies see. It was a great time and was wonderful that we finally got one done after the ladies were able to schedule Ladies Night once a month while the men couldn't get a Men's Night together.
But did we really have to do a "We're men so we're only going to eat meat" policy? I knew from the moment that rule was in place I'd be where I am now, up at ass o-clock nauseated as fuck. I've never been great with meat. I think it's delicious. When I was a kid I'd say that steak was my favorite food. I also love grilling and I liked working the grill last night. But my stomach hates it and I'm a bit tired of the nonsense of Manning Up at these things just so I can regret it like I do now.
This culture has always been pressed down upon me firmly. As a kid my dad would always judge the shit out of me about food. He'd slide the biggest cut of steak onto his growing boy's plate. Particularly true if I were with his farmer friends. I was sick all of the time as a kid with a stomach ache to the point where my mother would tell me I'm faking it. When I got to college and beyond I started to pay attention to when I was sick. I noticed I got sick about half the time I had steak, more than three quarters if it were on the pink end (and it was always on the pink end when my dad made it for me lest I'm not a Real Man).
When I got a steady girlfriend I explained to her my unease about steak and she was like, we're not eating steak, like it was common sense. So, absent the pressure of my youth, I've been away from steak and, the older I get and more experienced I get at cooking, drifting away from all meat in general. I've realized that, while it is harder to make non-meat food taste just as good (to whatever culturally ingrained standard of taste that's been forced upon me), it can be done. I rarely get stomach problems anymore.
It's still forced upon me in ways that are difficult not to acquiesce. My dad still grills me steaks when I visit him. I've tried to explain to him that, even if I like steak I just can't do it, man. I even, at his request, explained to him the whole graphic process of how it leaves my body. Yet when I visit, it's always meat on his mind to the point where my mom's complained about it behind his back and, I think, hesitates a bit when I ask to visit because it means she's gonna have to eat more meat, too. It's gotten to the point where my significant other hatches a plan with me to sneak vegetables into their house so we don't have to get sick from all the meat we have to eat.
You know, I've learned that my dad has the same digestive problems I have, too. He's on the toilet a lot during the day. Anyone who confronts him and he'll respond that that's just how it is. How is this rational?
I'm picking on my dad but it's definitely not just him. My former boss was a great boss and a good person. Whenever we'd have to go out to dinner together for whatever the function, he'd order me a big block-y rare steak. You have to try this he'd say, impressed at his menu and restaurant selection. Again, wonderful man, but I've had to eat many a rare steak to not disappoint him.
I could go on about situations I've been in where I've been forced or pressured to eat a lot of meat. And I'm not trying to say I want to be a vegetarian. I can't fathom how people like that manage all the judgment. I'll eat meat once in a while because it tastes good and not to piss everyone off. But why do men do this whole Gotta Eat All The Meat thing? Do they really believe that it's making them manly or muscular or testosterone-y? Because I don't see that; I see a whole lot of flubby looking guys who by middle-age aren't particularly active. And when I visit my childhood Land Where Men Must Eat Only Meat, I hear a lot of stories that some guy in his forties or fifties or sixties keeled over from a stroke or a heart attack.
I actually brought vegetables to Men's Night. I thought maybe if I show people grilling vegetables, it can be manly, too. Grilled peppers and onions are tasty, too, even by themselves and not on a big steak sandwich. But I capitulated. I ended up just sneaking them in and making them for myself. And I followed along with everyone else and ate more meat last night than I've done the prior three months. Was it tasty? Yes. But was it absolutely unnecessarily excessive? Also yes. Look, I don't blame anybody there. I just think this whole culture of meat eating forced upon men is total bullshit. And that ain't just my stomach telling me that.

2023.03.25 11:31 Fancy-Independent-31 looking for a (science/self improving?) book
Looking for a book
I'm a 20M. Sadly never finished a whole book... I'm not the greatest but decent in reading because I like doing research on the internet, Listen to podcast etc.
I love science. To be specific I like Math Physics Chemistry and Biology. My goal is to become a doctor. However I'm not in a medical university(yet). I'm preparing for the entrance exam which I will take in around 1.5 years.
I (think) also like self-improving books. For example mastering sleep, body language, communication skills, why bodybuilding/sporting is good for you.
Something medical is sure great but it doesn't have to be it necessarily. It can also be a book about quantem physics for example.
I don't mind if the book is very science based which might be boring to some. I'm a type of person who reads slowly but tries to understand. If I feel it's necessary I can search up some things on the internet to understand the book better.
My math level is around precalculus. The other subjects are at a lower level(but I would love to learn more on any of these topics!)
If you want any more specific information about what I like/not like I can answer them in the comments.

And definitely, people spend money buying air-tickets just to reach their destinations safely, quickly, and comfortably. Regardless of the purpose of travelling, the amount of time you spend inside a plane should also bring you a vibrant experience and memory. Interestingly, you may find a great difference in air fares of different airlines for the same route, destination, and on the same day. Keep tracking on the Low-fare calendar of different airlines, for instance, British Airways Booking usually offers attractive deals, discounts, and other low-fare-oriented benefits to its customers. You should know that there are some other vital aspects, like, peak days, seasons, distances, number of passengers in a group, your status in the concerned airline’s record, etc. However, this article will help you know about Top 10 Cheapest Airline Services for Vacation. Primarily, this article aims to bring you a splendid air travelling experience under your budget. Additionally, having been registered with a reputed airline you can enjoy excellent benefits as with British Airways Manage Booking. You can buy air tickets and manage your journey date or destination right the way suits you. What is Meant by Cheap Airline Services? This allows air-travelling customers to pay a basic nominal fee for buying tickets just to board and reach their destinations sitting comfortably on a general seat. The basic idea behind this concept is that you have to pay exactly for what you actually need. This helps people avoid unnecessary services or stuff on the plane. Hence, it really becomes an affordable deal for a common passenger. Top 10 Cheapest Airline Services for Vacation - AIR ASIA
Air Asia since its inauguration has been serving in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and Malaysia as a low-cost carrier. It covers more than 160 destinations in its network across Australia, Asia, the United States, and the Middle East. By dint of extraordinary services, punctuality, customer support services, and fares Air Asia has secured a reputed position globally. - JET BLUE
Headquartered in New York City, JetBlue is one of the major airlines in the USA. Today it has become a leading carrier in Boston, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, San Juan, and Los Angeles, carrying millions of passengers every year. It has been extending its route continuously into South America and Caribbean. It provides affordable flights, more legroom inside flights, easy to redeem plans, free beverage and snacks in flight, and of course a friendly behaviour. - FRONTIER AIRLINES
The headquarters of Frontier Airlines is located in Denver, Colorado, USA. It is a popular airline known for providing competitive air tickets for more than 80 destinations. It operates both domestic airlines and international flights. Latency is a major issue that passengers usually complain about. However, it is a luck factor which can be accepted in exchange for low-fare tickets. - SPIRIT AIRLINES
Florida, the USA is the official headquarters of Spirit Airlines which you may consider to be a good choice to travel with a low-budget. It charges only for the seats that you occupy on the plane. So, you will have to pay for every little thing you want while travelling. It has not a good record in regards with late arrivals/departures and cancellation. - INDIGO
Indigo is a New Delhi, India based airline. It is India’s largest passenger airline that offers great air-travelling offers for the most budget friendly charges. It operates both domestically and internationally. It has been expanding its destinations rapidly on all routes and is well-known for exceptional in-flight services, punctual arrivals/departures. It has a very low record of cancellation. Indigo is committed to bring its customer a hassle-free and affordable air-travelling experience. - BRITISH AIRWAYS
British Airways is a globally known London based airline and also secures the prestigious position of being the largest airline in the United Kingdom. It is just a royal airline in all terms like, size, in-flight services, British Airways Booking online system, international flights and destinations, etc. It has a 4-star reputation for its extraordinary on-board products and staff services. From time-time it offers low-cost airline tickets but you need to keep watching its low-fare calendar online to grab this opportunity. You can enjoy a kingly travelling experience that you will never forget. - EASYJET
EasyJet Airlines has its headquarter in London, UK and is fairly known for providing affordable airline services. They have worked excellently, by the course of time, to elevate their in-flight services, products, and most importantly their timely arrivals and departures. It serves more than 800 destinations across Europe. While booking you have to pay only the base fare, but if you need something in the flight you can get it by making payment for the same. - JETSTAR AIRWAYS
Jetstar Airways is a low-cost airline headquartered in Australia. It also offers a ‘Frequent Flyer Program’ but, one can book Jetstar in the simplest way just by paying the basic fare. Moreover, one can find an option there for Business Class as well. You can also get necessary items on-board by paying. - RYANAIR
Ryanair is known to be the largest airline in Europe in terms of passengers. You should choose it only for two reasons – i.e. if you have no way except booking a ticket with Ryanair Airlines, and in case you have not enough money to afford other airlines tickets. It serves in more than 40 countries including Europe and the Middle East. - WIZZ AIR
Wizz Air is headquartered in Budapest, Hungary. It is an ultra-low-cost airline. Its cheap in-flight services and products will make you feel very uncomfortable and you need to pay for every single item. You will start feeling disappointed right from the time of getting into the flight. You should book a ticket with Wizz Air in case you have no option except to travel quickly. However, you can prefer it for short destinations. Concluding Points: If you want to enjoy a budget-friendly air-travelling experience choose a reliable and reputed airline. At least, you should ensure that your flight will drop you comfortably at the right destination without making any delay. However, if you want to enjoy air-travelling with a low-budget airline, preferring British Airways Manage Booking can be a good choice in all terms. All you need to do is keep track of its low-fare calendar. Furthermore, Indigo, Jet Blue, would be a great choice. Rest all depends upon your choice, affordability, and priority. submitted by Boring_Beach_2749 to u/Boring_Beach_2749 [link] [comments] |

Hey!
I recently discovered this subreddit (and
autism) and the more I these posts, the more I’m like wow this has been there forever and how did nobody see it?!
I’m a 30 year old male, currently unemployed having recently dropped out of my third year of University. I have always found life so overwhelming and I’ve been been able to stick to anything. I’ve walked away from so many opportunities and in my head I’ve just deemed myself to be ‘incompatible’ with living ‘normally’. I’ll start something and then very quickly it becomes too much, I burn out and walk out.
I dropped out of school at 14-15 and I spent two years in my bedroom immersed in a virtual world (Second Life) and that’s the most comfortable I have ever felt in life. I didn’t have to live up to any expectations and was free to be who I was inside. Now as an adult, I can’t really avoid these things and my life is just becoming difficult to manage because I’m not making any money. I thankfully still have my parents support and live with them, but they would much rather me contribute or have my own life im sure.
I live in the UK and my parents are going to pay for me to see a psychiatrist privately as the NHS waiting list is pretty long. I’ve spoken to my mum about this and she agreed that i likely do have autism and that many things about me as a child, teen and adult would make a lot of sense if that were the case.
I feel bad for them because my symptoms (or traits) can be very over the top and I’m trying my absolute best to react differently to things. I came off SSRIs recently (slow taper) and some things are better, and others worse. I get very irritated at things, I’m very snappy and I will throw things (I’m sometimes mid throwing or hitting something and I’m like ‘stop!’). My masking is also unreal at 30…I’m the most monotone speaker with 0 interest in others conversations, but I can’t act like the most charismatic and confident person and I don’t even recognise my own voice/self sometimes. It’s crazy what our brains can learn to do to survive! I can present very neurotypical but sometimes it slips and people are so confused! Can’t always be perfect.
I guess this isn’t really me asking a question, but more so me just telling people that understand where I’m at in life! I’m happy to discuss other traits I have or anything really! I’d love to make some other friends with ASD, but I’m not sure this is the place - any recommendations?
Thank you for reading!

Hi all,
Last week I raised an issue which for now I will not elaborate on too deeply, but postpone until last. Instead I will momentarily break away from this discussion and first offer a few bullit points in favour of the requested feature. I will then lastly explain what the feature actually involves. So these are the arguments in favour:
- Suppose I send and encrypted e-mail to a non-Tutanota user. They will then be redirected to Tutanota's online mail portal. But if their browser is not of a recent version they will subsequently be blocked. It basically implies I can't send encrypted e-mails to non-Tutanota users, as I cannot predict what will happen. I can also honestly not make a referral to friends, which I used to, as I know that it can effect them as well.
- Note as well that the competition still manages to support iOS 12 and even iOS 13, while at the same time their GUI looks professional and slick. It surprises me therefore that Tutanota jumped to iOS 14 while probably bound to the same frameworks as they must be. So if I have to make a referral I might change my stance to their way of going about it, as it feels more future proof.
My original request was to be conditionally granted access to the online mail portal, rather than simply being blocked as is now the new circumstance. While most replies strongly suggested to upgrade my iPhone, it was `
charlag` that pinned the underlying reason. And I'm genuinely happy with such replies. Sometimes all people want is to be treated as such and not to be shuffed aside with a little white lie, or just by being terse.
To summarise the original discussion, Tutanota are not blocking outdated browsers for security reasons, although that always plays a factor of course, but rather because a CSS dependency needs to be met. This dependency is fital for a new feature called conversation view. Knowing this, my original request shifted from conditional access to the portal after ticking a disclaimer, to a suggestion to fallback to old-style display of messages in case this requirement is lacking. That way outdated browsers would still maintain access. However, as `
charlag` puts it, the line has to be drawn somewhere and it cannot honestly be supported.
I think what it is I'm trying to do is to make an appeal on the developer team to reconsider the route taken and push the needle a little further to accomodate their current and future user database. And while I realise that I may be flogging a dead horse, I must do it allthesame. I've seen several mentions already about users being effected. And although they seem to be using stronger wording than I, we share the same emotion. Surely that must count for something.

2023.03.25 11:20 goldcoastboatrentals What to Think About Before Renting a Boat?
Are you looking forward to a thrilling boating adventure? If so, a
boat rental in Long Beach may be what you need for a full experience. Without needing to purchase your own boat, boat rentals let you experience the boating way of life.
You should look for a helpful company for boat rental in Long Beach, CA, that makes renting a boat simple. Below is a list of some of those factors to take into account.
Consider Using a Reputable Boat Rental Service Before choosing one of the two options, try researching reliable boat rental firms. Professionals from boat rental firms are available to help you make decisions. Check the reviews to see how their prior customers felt about the service. A trustworthy boat rental company prioritizes customer satisfaction because they have a reputation to uphold.
Please investigate how they have previously handled boat rentals. Consider conducting an online search using unbiased review sources. Thanks to their rental agreements, your trip on the water will be unlike any other. When choosing, it is a good idea to consider how long they have been in business.
Consider the Available Boat Types You should take into account particular regulations when renting a boat. Examine the many boat kinds to select a boat that meets your requirements. The variety of boats available might be daunting. To reduce the number of choices to a manageable number, and consider your needs.
Details on Local Laws Learning about local legislation can also be quite important when renting a boat. Before sending you out on your trip, the company will, in most situations, discuss the legal element. Nonetheless, you shouldn't disregard studying what the law says. The laws cover so many things, so you must know them.
Check the Boat Before You Hire It You must understand the terms of the boat rental contract before signing. As a result, inspecting the vessel is an important factor. Your safety continues to come first, thanks to the inspection. You have the opportunity to confirm that all relevant materials are on board with the agent. An examination helps you become familiar with the boat so you can find safety devices quickly in the event of an accident.
The risk that scratches and cracks expose you to can be a deal-breaker. Having the boat inspected shows that you are careful and only accept vessels in excellent condition. You won't be liable for pre-existing damages you aren't to blame for.
Examine Insurance The rental boat is insured, right? Verify the boat's insurance before renting it. Companies renting boats must be legally insured for their clients' boats and fleets. If something were to go wrong while renting the boat, the correct insurance policy would guarantee your safety.
Damage liability to cover attached boat fittings is the most popular type of insurance. Some insurance plans provide for the cost of medical care and damages for injuries caused by accidents. You can confidently sail with your family if you rent an insured boat. This enables you to join the boat with a clear head and fully enjoy the voyage.
Conclusion Selecting a
boat rental in Long Beach that meets your needs has never been simpler. To make it simpler, use the advice above before renting a boat. Your water adventure will be more memorable if you rent a great boat.
