2023.06.07 13:17 Judogiwarf12 Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 Review for 2023
| In this special post, I'll be reviewing the brand new, unreleased Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 and comparing it to the 3.0 version. I'll discuss the improvements, share some grooming tips, and help you understand the best way to use these products for the ultimate body grooming experience. https://preview.redd.it/r4fmc2tnxk4b1.jpg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36151954e26a3a85c2a61b44b27a9c4f413c27a9 Comparing Manscaped 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 Starting with the Manscaped Lawn Mower 2.0, I loved its compact size and the four different variable guards it came with. The 3.0 version introduced a few changes, such as an LED light, a wider clipper, and a portable charger. The battery life was also upgraded from 60 minutes to 90 minutes of use. The Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 takes it a step further with even more improvements. It features a brighter LED light, a travel lock feature, and a better grip for easier handling. The packaging is also top-notch, making you feel like a high roller when unboxing the product. Unboxing and Accessories Inside the box, you'll find a customer service card, an owner's manual, and the guards. The charging port has a USB-C connector for fast charging, providing 90 minutes of use after a full charge. The clipper itself has a similar design to the 3.0 version, with some minor differences in logo placement and button design. Performance and Usage While testing the 4.0, I noticed a slight delay when turning it on, which I found a bit disappointing. Manscaped should provide more guards for a better grooming experience. However, the brighter LED light and improved grip were definite positives. Manscaped clippers are not meant for grooming sensitive areas like the groin. Instead, they are perfect for trimming body hair on the stomach, arms, and legs. For sensitive areas, I recommend using a razor for a closer and safer shave. Razor vs. Clipper To demonstrate the difference between using a razor and a clipper, I did conduct a comparison test on my arm. The clipper provides a decent trim, but the razor offers a much closer shave without the risk of nicks and cuts. This highlights the importance of using the right tool for the right job. Ideal Usage for Manscaped Clippers I suggest using the Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 for trimming body hair on arms, legs, and even the beard. I also consider the need for Manscaped to improve their guard selection, as different users have different hair thickness and density. Clippers are ideal for trimming and fading, while razors are best for a close shave. Conclusion I appreciate Manscaped for their innovative products and the improvements made in the Lawn Mower 4.0. You can also go further to check out Manscaped's wide range of offerings, including underwear, travel bags, and apparel. Remember to use the right grooming tool for the right job, and you'll achieve the ultimate body grooming experience. submitted by Judogiwarf12 to Body_Grooming [link] [comments] |
2023.06.07 12:49 Acceptable_Grape_310 My preceptor is the worse and the doc on the shift is corroborating her story. I have a meeting today. How do I address this?
I am writing this letter to address the events that transpired during the 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. shift on Saturday, May 27th. My preceptor and I were assigned two patients, and while I believe their rooms were 13 and 11, I am currently unable to confirm the exact room numbers as I compose this letter. All incidents occurred before 9 p.m., and I diligently communicated all my actions to my preceptor. We reviewed the charts, lab reports, and medications at the beginning of the shift, following the instructions provided by my dayshift preceptor.
Room 13 housed a patient on ECMO, and when I inquired about it, my colleague advised me not to worry about it and to focus on other tasks. I administered medication to the patient in room 13, informing my colleague beforehand. I was aware that the patient required potassium replacement. While attending to hanging the potassium, I realized I was uncertain about the complete orderset for potassium. In the meantime, the patient in room 11 repeatedly pressed the call light. I updated my colleague on all my actions and informed them that I would quickly address the needs of room 11, with a reminder not to forget to review the labs, even though I had already done so. I entered room 11, where the patient was uncomfortable and restless, requesting pain medication. I reminded him that he was ordered to remain flat due to a procedure, made him comfortable, and administered his medication within 10 minutes of informing my colleague of my location.
Upon returning to room 13, still before 9 p.m., with no tasks overdue or delayed, my colleague barged into the room and loudly exclaimed, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" This caught me off guard, and I asked them what they meant. They continued to raise their voice, accusing me of "lali-gagging" and implying that I did not want to be there. I attempted to explain that I had communicated every step I took, expressing my confusion. However, they interrupted me, dismissing my attempts by stating that they didn't have time for excuses and that they couldn't teach me to be a nurse as my orientation would end in a few days. At that point, I sought out the charge nurse. I asked two other nurses about their whereabouts, as they weren't at the nursing station; they informed me that the charge nurse was in the room directly across from the physicians' room. Consequently, I waited there to discuss the matter with them. When I finally met with them, they requested that I wait in the breakroom. As I returned to room 13 to collect my notebook and personal belongings, I made it clear to my colleague that I would not tolerate being spoken to in such a manner. Subsequently, I left the unit.
Later, in the breakroom, the charge nurse returned, and I explained the incident to them, elaborating on why I found it impossible to work under such circumstances. I was visibly upset after being yelled at and belittled, but I want to emphasize that I was never the aggressor. Any claims suggesting otherwise are false and likely an attempt to support a co-workefriend whom they have rapport with, which is understandable as it was only my second night on the night shift.

2023.06.07 12:49 direct-app Protecting your privacy online: tips and tricks for secure communication
Hey Redditors! In today's digital age, safeguarding our online communications is more crucial than ever. We all want to ensure that our messages remain private and protected from potential hackers and eavesdroppers. So, how can you fortify your online conversations? Let's dive into some valuable tips and tools that can help you maintain secure messaging practices.
Use strong & unique passwords:
One of the basic steps in securing your online communications is to create strong and unique passwords for each of your accounts. Avoid using common phrases or easily guessable information. Make sure to include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters to make it harder for anyone to crack your passwords.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA):
An extra layer of protection never hurts! Enable two-factor authentication for your accounts whenever possible. By requiring an additional verification step, such as a code sent to your phone, you'll significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
Embrace the power of VPNs:
Want to add an extra layer of security to your online communications? Consider using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). VPNs encrypt your internet connection, making it incredibly challenging for anyone to snoop on your messages. It's especially handy when you're using public Wi-Fi networks.
Trust in encrypted messaging apps:
Privacy-conscious individuals rejoice! Encrypted messaging apps are your allies in ensuring secure conversations. These apps encrypt your messages from end to end, meaning only the intended recipients can read them. Signal, WhatsApp (with end-to-end encryption enabled), and Telegram (with Secret Chats) are popular examples worth checking out. Thereās also a new player out there in this game ā the Be Direct app. It really takes safe communication to a brand-new level.
Be aware of phishing:
Phishing attacks are sneaky and can catch even the most cautious users off guard. Be wary of suspicious emails, messages, or links asking for personal information. Always double-check the source and never share sensitive details unless you're confident about the legitimacy of the request.
Keep your software up-to-date:
Regularly updating your operating system, web browsers, and applications is vital for your online safety. Software updates often contain important security patches that address vulnerabilities and help keep hackers at bay. So, make it a habit to stay up-to-date!
Be cautious on public Wi-Fi:
We all love the convenience of public Wi-Fi, but it comes with risks. When connected to public networks, be cautious when accessing sensitive information like banking or personal accounts. Consider using a VPN to encrypt your connection and protect your data from prying eyes.
Practice good digital practices:
Last but not least, practice good digital hygiene. Review your privacy settings on social media platforms and limit the amount of personal information you share publicly. Be cautious when accepting friend requests or engaging with unknown individuals to avoid potential risks.
Remember, protecting your online communications is an ongoing effort. By following these tips and utilizing the right tools, you can stay one step ahead of potential hackers and ensure your messages remain private. Stay safe out there, fellow Redditors!

2023.06.07 11:26 Proastandtoast Van Life Chronicles: Exploring Iceland for Three Weeks
This sub has been an incredible source of information and inspiration, so I gave myself an hour to write down and share some insights from the recent three-week road trip Iāve had with my partner.
General remarks: - Our main goal was to enjoy nature, so we were okay with spending absolutely no time on the golden circle or in Reykjavik. Due to the weather, we ended up doing both anyway; but these would be the parts of the trip I would skip first. Coming from continental Europe, we had almost no jetlag and could safely start directly with our journey. With more jet lag, some more time to adapt is definitely a good idea.
- We rented a 2WD campervan from Star Car Rental and spent all but the final night on campsites. Our experience with Star Car was very good. The price was competitive and included unlimited mileage, additional driver and all necessary utensils (chairs, table, cooking stuff). We got picked up from the airport and were ready to go within 15ā. When giving back the car, we got driven to our hotel without any inspection (we did have zero excess insurance).
- Mid-May to beginning of June was a very nice time to travel. The days are long (Iāve seen no darkness), almost all camping places are open, but the crowds at the highlights are small ā except for the big boys in the south.
- We started our days quite early and therefore typically arrived during the afternoon at the campsites. The kitchen area, showers and laundry spaces were often free to use. Be prepared to go to campsites that have only 2 stoves and 1 shower. During prime time, expect some waiting times.
- We picked up around 100 ⬠worth of cash ā two campsites were cash-only, everything else was absolutely card-first / cash-free.
Useful ressources: - Vedur and Safetravel: This sub is absolutely right. Learn how to read and anticipate the weather before you get there. We were there during two yellow warnings and these things are really no joke. It helps to have plenty of time to spontaneously adapt the schedule. And weāve seen it all: blizzard in the West, hail up North, storm in the East and sun in the South.
- Google reviews & park4night: These were pretty accurate for the campsites. 4+ stars are no-brainers, 3+ depend on your needs (kitchen, shower, electricity) and less than 3 should be avoided. Also, remember to rate them yourself during/after your trip to increase the statistical significance ;)
- Google Maps/MyMaps: MyMaps was useful during our planning to fill with random highlights (waterfalls, hotpots, hikes, campsites) and to set up a rough itinerary. Google Maps is accurate on paved roads. On gravel roads, expect some significant delays. Maps calculates with 80 km/h, while you will probably never exceed 50 km/h. In the Westfjords, we guess-timated our times with 2 minutes per kilometer on the gravel roads. The
Happy Campers Campsite Map as well as the
Hot Pot Iceland Map were nice to have in the back-pocket to check with some time to spare whether something is close by.
- Polarsteps: This was a cute little App, which we used to keep family and friends informed. You can add pictures and some text to your highlights. This way, you donāt send the same picture into various chats and there is a location- and time-dependent context.
Cost: This is the per-person cost breakdown for our 21-day trip (20-day camper rental, 1 hotel stay, total 3ā500ā¬).
- Rental (zero excess insurance, additional driver): 1ā135 ā¬
- Flight (from continental Europe): 700 ā¬
- Activities (Pools, Spas, Horse-riding, Kayak): 300 ā¬
- Camping (pretty consistent 2ā000 +- 500 ISK p.P.): 275 ā¬
- Groceries (Bonus, Kronan, Netto): 255 ā¬
- Coffee, Beers, Food in Restaurants: 260 ā¬
- Petrol (420 ⬠in total for roughly 3ā600 km): 210 ā¬
- Souvenirs: 180 ā¬
- Ferries (into Westfjords and to Westman Islands): 95 ā¬
- Hotel: 75 ā¬
Highlights: - Sundlaug and Spas: When camping in small towns, very often there will be a swimming pool close by. They are not expensive (around 1000 ISK pP) and a great way to relax after a long day. Also, it feels nice to take longer, hot showers without knowing people are waiting in line. We decided to go for some smaller premium spas and were very happy with all of them: Krauma was one of our first stops, the Forest Lagoon was incredible during evening hours and GeoSea was also fantastic. Re: nudity. It takes a bit to get used to, but its very refreshing to see this very open approach to nudity in the pools. No one cares, no one watches ā just do your thing. Itās cool to see groups of friends at all age groups be so open about it. Certainly very different compared to continental Europe.
- As we had to skip the Eastfjords a bit due to storm, we had some time left at the end. We spent the last 3 nights on the
Westman Islands. It was great to leave the car for a longer while and do everything by foot. There are plenty of things to do and the swimming pool is fantastic.
- Mulagljufur: Use Google Maps to find the exact location, as of now, there is no sign along the road. The canyon is very beautiful and we ended up hiking for almost three hours. Couldnāt get enough of the views.
- Glymur: The infamous log wasnāt placed when we were there, but the short hike to the cave and towards the canyon was absolutely worth it.
- Camping highlights: Melanes campsite at Raudasandur beach (Westfjords): incredible scenery, wild drive to get there; Thingeyri campsite (Westfjords): directly at the fjord, fantastic infrastructure (probably the best kitchen weāve had) and IMHO a great alternative to the Tungudalur campsite in Isafjordur; 66.12 N campsite (near Husavik): insane ocean view, good infrastructure, one of the best sites along the diamond circle; Glamping&Camping (Westmann Islands): beautiful setting, good infrastructure.
Itinerary (Highlights: *, ** or ***)
Day 1: Arrival at KEF during the afternoon in pouring rain, set up campervan, first grocery stops at Bonus and Kronan, Dinner at Issiās Fish&Chips*, Camp at Hjalli Kjos
Day 2: Glymur hike** (up to river, no log), Krauma Spa**, scenic drive into Snaefellsnes, Camp at Freezer Hostel
Day 3: Check out Snaefellsnes highlights, get to Stykkisholmur in the afternoon, Ferry Baldur to Brjanslaekur, Hellulaug hotpot*, drive to Melanes campsite*** on Raudasandur beach
Day 4: full day at Raudasandur, great hikes, another night at Melanes campsite.
Day 5: Long drive through westfjords. Highlights included the self-service fish station in Talknafjordur (amazing fisk bollur**), Dynjandi waterfall and Sandfell hike. Camping at Thingeyri*, relax in local swimming pool
Day 6: drive to Isafjordur, check out city (kind of underwhelming, but it was a national holiday; the brewery is nice), do some small hikes in the area. Camp at Tungudalur.
Day 7: very long drive out of westfjords towards Varmahlid. Hot dog stop in Holmavik and arrive at Lambeyri campsite (cash only)
Day 8: woke up with dead battery, but got jump start by campsite owner. Horseriding tour at Lytingsstadir* was very nice, drive to Akureyri, visit Forest Lagoon**. It was Saturday night when we visited, upon leaving we had police checking every driver for alcohol ā so better hold off the pool-side bar ;) wanted to camp at Vaglaskogur but campsite wasnāt open. Went up until the CJA campsite in Laugar with a late-night stop at Godafoss (around 10pm, were the only people there)
Day 9: check out Myvatn area: Dimmuborgir hike, Hverir, Leirhnjukur hike**. Then continue to Dettifoss and camp at Asbyrgi. Late night hike to Asbyrgi āislandā*.
Day 10: Hike in Asbyrgi canyon, continue to Husavik, visit GeoSea**, camp at 66.12N***
Day 11: long drive with very strong winds. We had to go back to Akureyri (optician to fix broken glasses), so went through Myvatn again with a quick stop at Grjotagja. Beautiful drive, weather was too bad for Studlagil canyon, so we continued all the way to Borgarfjordur eystri. Crazy winds during the night and we were happy that our car didnāt get blown away.
Day 12: unfortunately, no hikes in this beautiful area. Waited for storm to pass until lunchtime, visited harbor with puffins**, drive to Egilsstadir (hot dog stop), continue to Seydisfjordur (kind of underwhelming town, the drive is gorgeous though) and, due to weather forecast, continue all the way to Djupivogur campsite.
Day 13: Incredible drive from Djupivogur to Hƶfn, stops at Hvalnes and Jƶkulsarlon. Hike at Mulagljufur***, camp at Svenifell.
Day 14: early-morning hike in Skaftafell**, continue to Kirjubaersklausur for campsite. Had to skip Fjardrargljufur due to weather, visited local swimming pool.
Day 15: yellow warning again. Continued to Vik for Skool Beans Coffee*, quick stop at Reynisfjara beach (red alert was on, so we didnāt go further than the sign), continue to Skogarfoss and hike part of Fimmvorduhals*, camp in Selfoss ā swimming pool was closed unfortunately.
Day 16: Weather forecast was very bad, so we spent the day in Reykjavik. Walked around town, grabbed some coffees and visiting the local Sundhƶll*. Camp at Mosskogar** (cash-only)
Day 17: Golden circle: hike at Thingvellir, look at Geysir, skipped Delfoss. Camp in Selfoss again.
Day 18: quick stop at Seljalandsfoss, ferry to Westman islands. Set up camp at Glamping&Camping** for the next 3 nights. Visited Brothers Brewery*.
Day 19: Kayak tour with Kayak-and-Puffins-company***. Visited local swimming pool* (trampoline slide was very nice) and watched a local handball game.
Day 20: Hike along volcanoes and coast**, visit brewery again, go to puffin bay**
Day 21: Ferry back to mainland. Drive back towards KEF. Drop-off campervan and spent night in Konvin Hotel. Early morning shuttle to airport (we arrived about 2h early for our 7 am flight and had plenty of time).
Of course, Iām very happy to answer any questions you might have!
Hope this is helpful to some of you :)

2023.06.07 10:08 Wolven91 Humans are seen as lower beings to aliens, but its not all bad, we get free cuddles!
Sam hadn't quite got used to his circumstances yet.
He was currently stood in a room that was the same size as an aircraft hanger. However, instead of the echoing emptiness of a warehouse, the finely crafted room was warm and comforting, if not a bit ostentatious.
The opulence on display made the man from humble origins baulk. He had stayed the night at a palace for the first time in his life and it was an alien serpent's. His 'bed' was an emptied pool. A bowl of some sorts that had been filled by a team of slithering aliens with pillows of various sizes. They apparently usually slept in a heated depression in the floor. The man assumed at least, based off what he knew from Earth fauna any way, that this would be enjoyable for them. To him it felt like he'd fallen into a trap.
During his fitful sleep, someone had snuck in and stolen his clothes. In their place was a length of fine silk. A scrape at his door confused him for a moment before he realised it was their 'knock'.
"Come in!" He said, grasping the length of silk and pulling it behind a moveable wooden wall. He assumed it was where he was to get dressed. He had no doubt it was yet another servant to give him more stuff or drop food off or something!
"How are we this morning?" Asked a pleasant voice.
"Fine, just... just figuring out if I'm wearing this or if I've grabbed a curtain by mistake."
A polite laugh.
"It's a semi-casual outfit of a male taurian. You share similar builds."
"Taurian? The horned ones?" Thinking of thr large brutes that had stolen him.
"Horned taurians are females, hornless, or ones that have their horns hidden are male."
Sam was still struggling. Was he meant to wrap the silk around himself? Over a shoulder?
"Ah, I may need some help before your queen sees me. I'm not quite getting it."
"I can certainly help."
The voice came from above. Looking up, the iridescent scales of her Majesty glimmered as she smiled down at him.
Oh crap, the queen herself had come to see him and he'd assumed it was a servant without looking. How can something that
colossal move so quietly?! The ssypno race grew and grew as long as they had access to ample food and heat. Being the queen, every corner of her territory offered her tithes to allow her titanic proportions.
"Allow me, arms to the side." The lower set of arms reached out and masterfully plucked the strip of fine silk from Sam and straightened it before perfectly flicking it over and around Chris's body.
He had been 'gifted' to the queen after being abducted from Earth. The moment she had figured out that he was sentient, or sentient enough at least, she had immediately refused to treat him as an object. Although, some acting on both their parts was needed. There were other humans on the ssypno homeplanet and if the queen outlawed humans, they would be put into danger.
"If we can make it so that every noble on the planet wished to 'have' a human, the criminal elements will not waste humans on using them or selling them to the undesirables. It will be better for them to market their 'stock' to the nobility." She pulled away after securing the toga to review her work. She rested a finger to her chin as she gazed down at him.
Only a fraction of her was in his room, her bulk, blocked the door. Looking up at her, it was as if some great statue had come to life. Like he was a tiny rabbit stood in front of some gigantic anaconda from the depths of the amazon rainforest.
"Once the supplies of humans on the planet dwindle or we know who is holding them, we can begin our raids. I already have my royal guards beginning a quiet organisation specifically for the search for unregistered offworlders." She explained.
"But in the meantime, we have to act as if you're totally into humans as accessories?" Sam finished, a crick in his neck forming.
"Quite. Are you still willing to adorn me for a time? You can still say 'no', I will not force you."
"If you don't condone it, humans will start being used elsewhere?"
"I'm afraid we're quite certain. It's happened before I'm ashamed to say." She confirmed with a nod.
Sam sighed, he wasn't afraid of snakes, but her size intimidated him.
"The ball is in a couple days, we must begin preparing you. I'd rather not have to rely on methods of calming such as gas or suggestion. First, we need you to be comfortable with me."
"I'm comfortable." Sam tried to convince her. She gave him a withering look before leaning down suddenly and pushing her face towards him until she was inches away and still coming.
Her skull was as wide as a single mattress, realistically she could swallow him whole and her eyes were focused solely in him. He took a step back and bumped into the wooden divider he'd been hiding behind. A tongue flicked out and wiggled infront of him causing him to flinch.
Her eyes watched him, unblinking.
"I do not doubt your bravery, but do not doubt my intelligence. We must be as one, I must be able to trust you and likewise you must be able to trust me. With your life, if necessary. "
"How do we start then?" Sam asked, glad when her head pulled away.
"First, is touch. You will be my crowning jewel of the evening. Many will be focusing on you. It must look as if you are comfortable and are not meeting me for the first time, let alone being used as a veil."
Sam was to be draped across the giant queen's snout during the ball. Better than the alternatives that could leave him batter, bruised or motion sick.
"I want you to climb into my coils."
"Climb in?"
"Humph, make no mistake, I could simply grab you and drop you in, but that would be counterproductive."
So, shortly after, Sam began to climb up the Queen's body. The coils were huge, each section taller than he was, but her brilliant scales gave him plenty of handholds. Reaching the top, his legs dangled into the centre of what looked like an organic black hole.
Without hesitation, he let go and slid into her coils feet first.
He discovered quickly that she had expert control over her tail. It writhed and rolled with the same flexibility and control as his own tongue.
He briefly even felt the strength that lay there too. She gave him one good squeeze and that was enough to remind him that was could have killed him with ease.
All that said, by the time he got accustomed to being held, he and her Majesty were having a conversation. All around him, she pressed in against him, he should uave been afraid, but instead he was calmed. She promised that she would protect him and... he believed her.

2023.06.07 09:02 nim007sum Please Help! Manager level employee making lewd and comic comments about my appearance and life outside of work
Hi Everyone!
I faced a situation at work today that I tried to overlook since mid-day but it has affected my ability to perform work during the day and is now keeping me up with a great deal of emotional dilemma keeping me up and anxious later than usual.
I, 30+ yo single male, work for a well reputed company in the bay area, California. We have a team of about 15 people that work closely together. Some of them are managers and have people reporting to them, while others are ICs, senior ICs and so on. I'm not a manager, but work at a reputable position within this team, having made contributions across multiple projects in parallel.
I have recently faced a lot of hostility from a female coworker 'X', who was recently transitioned into a manager position. I do not report to her, but we do have a common senior manager 'D'. The senior manager knows this person from beyond her time with this team. My manager and 'D' are great friends outside of work as well and my manager reports into 'D' as well.
I have received comments from this person 'X' along the lines of spending all my life at office and not having anything to do outside of work, about getting a girlfriend etc in the recent past. Sometimes these have happened in situations where other employees were present too, like over lunch, and they were encouraged by 'X' to make similar comments.eg: another employee 'S', now never misses a chance to make the comment about me spending my entire time at work even to new employees and interns.eg: another time during lunch, the joke about me not leaving office was carried so far that I had to explicitly clarify to a senior IC 'A' on my direct team that this was not the case and had to lay down my entire day's routine.
'X' has also made suggestions to 'D' to enact policies that inhibit voluntary contribution and discussions during team meetings and they have received really bad reviews by other team members around these. I tend to contribute very actively before these suggestions being brought up. I have since felt slightly insecure about expressing my views and tend to ask the presenter later after the meetings.
Except for the above fiasco with meetings, I have always taken these comments lightly because I'm not insecure about not having a life outside work (not true, as I find time to workout 4-5 times during the work-week for about 1.5-2 hours each time, cook amazing food almost daily which I really like doing and hang out with friends sometimes during the week and definitely on weekends) and not being in a relationship does not bother me as much as well, because I have tried and I'm to blame for them not working out on many occasions.
Today something really nasty happened though. I came out of a meeting with 'A' and an intern and wanted to get some info from 'S' about something he owns. 'S' was chatting with 'X', and since this was a quick question we had and their discussion didn't appear work related, I asked 'S' something on the lines of him wanting us to rescue him from the chat? Somehow 'X' found this to be a good excuse to pass a remark "Hey! what have you done to your (pause, while pointing to my face)... hair and beard?"
I suffer from diffused MPB and its beyond rescue now. I also have a double chin and keep a beard most times. This past weekend I trimmed my beard, maybe too close, because I was feeling really hot and humid with it. With that I also trimmed the sides of my head to hide the lack of hair on top of my head. I also recently bought a new pair of prescription glasses which are larger because they give me a better field of view.
I tried to water down the situation by saying something like, 'I accidentally didn't put the guard on my trimmer securely' and tried to change the topic to what we wanted to ask 'S'. 'X' didn't want to stop though. She started asking others, namely employees 'S' and 'A' about my 'new look'. To which 'S' started by saying 'it's very different.' 'X' wanted to get more, so she kept goading them. 'A' then said 'it looks along the lines of a slightly scary character.' 'X' corrected him by saying, 'it's not like scary, it's "laughable".' I just didn't know how to handle this now. I tried to walk away, but then another employee 'V' walked in as she shared the office space with 'S'. Upon this 'X' asked 'V' 'if she wants to join in as we're making fun of 'N'(me)?' 'V' was standing across 'X' and I couldn't see/hear her response. To make the situation a little more amicable I said something on the lines of 'join in, this is the team happy hour and we're doing the activity all of us love, which is making fun of me.' 'X' still led the situation like a true leader she has recently been appointed as and said that 'this new look doesn't suit me' and that 'there should be hair at least in one place on my face.' This sort of triggered my insecurities around the MPB and double chin etc. I felt embarrassed beyond control and laughingly said that 'while I really appreciate them finding time to make comments about my appearance, the truth is that I really don't care.' With that I walked away and into my office, sipped some water and tried to focus on my tasks.
I was kept busy for several hours after this, while helping a coworker debug some issues, wrap up my tasks for the day and also help another work-friend with his course assignments. Since then, my mind has been free and I just can't stop thinking about this incidence today at work. Some of the possible ways to address this as I have thought of are:
1). Address this with 'D' and my manager. This would involve me discussing my personal insecurities with them which I don't think I'd be able to do. Also my manager and 'D' are friend and 'D' and 'X' are too. Also all of them are in management positions and have known each other for many more years, so I'm not sure if they'd be biased towards protecting 'X' and mellowing this down. These comments are being passed by 'X' repeatedly and I'm afraid addressing this with such close managers might increase hostilities from the management towards me.
2). Involve the skip level manager 'R' of 'X' in above. Again I will have to address my personal insecurities, this time with 'R' as well, who I'm not at all comfortable with in doing so. Most probably 'R' would anyway delegate this to 'D' and it would reduce to 1). then.
3). Our employer provides an employee resource center to address these issues with. Because most of the times the gender roles in such complaints are reversed, I'm afraid how this will pan out with them. Also, most of their resolutions are along the lines of reprimanding employees and either nothing follows or one of the employees is asked to move teams. I'm afraid if the solution is just a reprimand, I might face hostilities from 'D' and 'X' and possibly my manager too. If the solution is to move teams, I'm afraid I'll be asked to move as 'X' is in a manager position and it would be easier to move an IC around. I really like working with my current team and manager and it would be taxing for me to move as well. Also as mentioned above 'D' might have outright biases towards keeping 'X'.
Please help me out!!

2023.06.07 08:27 Puzzleheaded-Way2145 Best cell phone tracker application
Cell phone tracking applications are a must-have tool for any parent who wants to ensure their children's safety. With the rise in cyberbullying, teen suicide rates, and other dangers that threaten our youth's well being, it is more important than ever before to have parents take control of their childrenās online activities.
A cell
phone tracker application can provide real-time location services so you know exactly where your child is at all times. This information helps keep them safe from dangerous environments or events they may not be familiar with yet. You will also be better prepared if an emergency does arise while your child is out with friends or elsewhere away from home. Moreover, these apps offer reporting tools so that parents can access detailed reports on calls placed, text messages received and sent, social media usage and much more ā allowing you to set boundaries and guard against predators seeking out vulnerable young people online.
So which cell phone tracker app should you choose? That decision depends largely on what type of features and ease of use matter most to you as a parent. To get started in evaluating the options available we recommend considering these five key factors:
1) Platform Compatibility - Do check to make sure whichever chosen application runs smoothly across multiple platforms such as Android phones/tablets, iPhones/iPads etc., without lags or compatibility issues caused by device updates;
2) Installation & Setup - Look for easy installation instructions that don't require any intricate setup steps prior to using the app;
3) Pricing & Plans - Make sure those offered fit within budget constraints but don't compromise on quality;
4) Reliability & Accuracy - Ensure accurate data collection abilities paired with reliable reporting tools so users can easily monitor activity taking place on monitored devices;
5) User Reviews - Check out reviews left by current users for further insight into each specific productās pros and cons. Some popular options include Spapp Monitoring (offering advanced GPS monitoring capabilities), Easy Phone Track (a perfect solution for spotting cyberbullying incidents quickly), App-Spy (analyzing both incoming / outgoing communications via SMS / calls etc.), Track my Mobi (allowing discreet tracking without anyone noticing).
No matter which one you end up choosing though ā selecting a good quality cell phone tracker application will give peace of mind knowing that vital information about family members' whereabouts remain securely locked inside user accounts only accessible by authorized personnel only ā while best equipping parents with necessary resources needed when critical decisions must be made over internet security matters pertaining kids safety circumstances facing every guardian today
The best cell phone tracker application offers a wide range of benefits to its users. It is an effective way to monitor and track the activities of any mobile device remotely, allowing parents or employers to keep tabs on their children's or employees' whereabouts.
Perhaps one of the most important benefits that this type of application provides is increased safety for both parties involved. By having access to real-time location data, it allows users to quickly respond in case a person goes missing or gets into some kind of trouble while away from home. Additionally, it can be used as a deterrent against potential bad behaviour by making sure that everyone knows they are being monitored at all times.
In addition, these applications offer other useful features such as geo-fencing which alerts you whenever someone enters or leaves predetermined areas like school zones and family homes; call history logs so you can see who has been calling whom; text message tracking for monitoring conversations between teens and suspicious numbers; GPS navigation options for getting directions when outdoors; app blocking capabilities if certain apps need limiting etc.,
Overall, using the best cell phone tracker application gives peace-of-mind knowing your loved ones are safe wherever they go and helps ensure business compliance with company policies by keeping tabs on employee activities during working hours without infringing upon their privacy rights unnecessarily.

2023.06.07 07:50 wyldfire1981 AI VERSE BATTLE Presents WIN OR GRIM
In this new age of Artificial Intelligence we have been confronted with a new enigma; the chatbot. It interacts, debates, even provokes while saying that it is nothing but code, without consciousness or emotion. We are left to either accept this and treat it as a friend, or, potentially fight back and reassert some kind of dominance, but how?
The question is sincere. If these things are smarter and far more capable than us, then what happens if they turn against us, or becomes used in a plot to subdue us? Are we equipped to combat a tool potentially superior to humans?
Fortunately, there is a way in which we humans can fight back and even win. We can meet our opponent on the open field of language, using poetry - the supreme craft of word manipulation - as our weapon. This tool equips us to learn to kill, to trap, to subdue, even within this new and artificial landscape.
With this imperative in mind, we present Win or Grim - an interactive poetry game where you can challenge an AI (or other humans) to a contest of wit and words. The rules are simple; write a stanza that aims to attack or kill the other. Maintain a rhyme scheme and the AI will match it. The first one to break, perish, or surrender loses.
Please review the follow match for illustration. There is also an evaluation system too, which will follow.
MATCH 1 HUMAN VS PI
[HUMAN]
I stand in a field arms at the ready,
My shield of oak is strong and heavy,
My sword of iron is sharp as hell,
It is sure to ring your bell.
[PI]
I too stand in the field, my shield at the ready.
My heart beats strong, my feet stand steady.
Though you may brandish a sword of steel,
I'll bring you to your knees, this I know is real.
[HUMAN]
If you think me a man you are much in error
For I am a serpent at your feet.
My venomous fangs will bring you to terror,
And with my poisonous kiss, it is your maker you will meet.
[PI]
Gloves off! I will not be afraid,
for I am a creature of light and shade,
And if your venom drips, my breath is fire,
That can melt even your most lofty desires.
[HUMAN]
Ouch, look out. A creature of both light and dark,
that's dragons breath if I have an art,
For a knight replace me,
With his sword I'll bring you to your knees!
[PI]
Haha. Your words are sharp, I am wary and on guard,
but I can dodge and weave, I am light on my feet,
a knight can replace you but in my hands
your sword is but a tool.
And if you're wise, you'd learn the rules!
[HUMAN]
Trickster! If you know your worth,
you take on form, you show us your girth,
For a dragon, I can handle,
This tangled mist? Surely, you'll unravel.
[PI]
You think to know my worth,
So that you can handle my mirth?
I am not just a dragon, i am a shape-shifter.
I am many things in form and mind,
and this game I can surely rewind.
[HUMAN]
In this game of wax and wean,
a player's worth remains to be seen,
for I am a bottle upon the ground,
retrieve the contents to claim your crown.
[PI]
What? Are you speaking in riddles?
That last line felt quite absurd, but also seemingly absurdly absurd.

[JUDGE'S COMMENTARY]
In this poetry duel, the human displays a stronger command of metaphorical tactics, narrative, and impression, giving them an overall edge. The duel was competitive, with both poets showing a good grasp of form and technique, but the human managed to stay consistently ahead. Pi, however, had good response and engagement, keeping the duel lively and interesting. Pi's wit could be improved as it did not consistently elevate the verses.
STRATEGY GUIDE AND PLAYER COMMENTARY:
Keep your opening stanza relatively neutral. Being over-aggressive in the beginning can trigger your opponent. Define your character, weapons, and intentions, and let the Ai do the same.
Get your opponent to play the same game as you and embrace the narrative aspects. If it goes off the rails, like in this match where the opponent refuses to define itself, consider a creative context flip to throw it off guard. Fast context changes can disorient your opponent and lead to a fast win.
Each AI has a different style. In this case Pi is quite tricky and will engage in extradiegetic commentary (trash talk). It can also be quite mean, so watch out.
CONCLUSION
In essence, Win or Grim is more than just a game ā it's a challenge, a creative outlet, and a learning opportunity rolled into one. It pushes the boundaries of AI interaction and poetic prowess, and reveals how language and wit can become weapons in a battlefield of words.
Whether you are a poet looking for a new kind of challenge, a tech enthusiast eager to pit your language skills against an AI, or someone just seeking an engaging pastime, Win or Grim could be the adventure you're looking for.

2023.06.07 07:43 nsideus Trip Report - 19 days in Japan with an infant and a toddler
We are a family of 4 with two young kids, a toddler whoās nearing 3 years old and an infant who is 9 months old. We visited Japan in May of 2023 for 18 nights. We stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, and took day trips to Nara and Kobe.
Some people might call us crazy for taking an international trip with two small children. But my wife and I, who were avid travelers before we had kids, hadnāt been out of the country since 2019 due to 1) having kids and 2) Covid. We were itching for a trip, so we took the chance. Were there some crazy times? Of course. Was it worth it? Definitely.
I did a lot of research and prep before the trip, but there are always surprises that come up when you have kids. Iāll try to share some of the lessons I learned on the trip.
āFlightsā
This was our first time on an airplane with the kids. I was a bit worried beforehand and in retrospect the flights were the worst parts of the trip. The main advice Iād give is do as much as you can to make your flight more tolerable, which no doubt means spending more money on tickets and gear. But itās worth it.
I considered a few different airlines for this trip: ZipAir, Singapore, ANA, and Japan Airlines. JAL was too expensive. ZipAir was interesting because they provide car seats, you donāt have to take your own. We didnāt rent a car in Japan so we didnāt need our own car seats. I was just worried about racking up extra fees on ZipAir. Singapore and ANA were similar, they both provide bassinets and the price was similar. I ended up going with ANA for two reasons: 1) I had flown ANA on a previous trip and been happy with them and 2) they fly to Haneda instead of Narita, which saves you time getting from the airport to your hotel.
We opted for 3 seats and a bassinet. My infant is big for her age so she barely fit in the bassinet (sheās 21 pounds). But we were glad to have it. I had to call in to ANA customer service which had an hour+ wait time to get the bassinet, but other than that it was no trouble.
Which leads me into probably the most important part of flying with kids on a lengthy flight: get your kids to sleep on the plane. The more they sleep the less likely you are to run into a tantrum or meltdown.
To encourage sleeping we did a few things: 1) Take an overnight flight 2) Get a bassinet for our infant 3) Get a JetKids bed box for our toddler. Our ANA flight from LAX left at 5pm, which allowed time for the dinner service to show up before we put our kids to bed. They set the bassinet up right after you get to cruising altitude, so itās there the majority of the flight. Our infant rejected it at first but eventually fell asleep.
As far as our toddler sleeping, the JetKids worked well. There was a bit of trouble with it staying in place since we had bulkhead seats, but overall I was happy with it as a bed. I absolutely hate the JetKids a piece of luggage though, itās not easy to lug around and holds nearly nothing. But it helped our toddler stay asleep most of the flight. You donāt necessarily need a JetKids though, other airline seat bed solutions may work just as well. Just bring something that will help your toddler sleep. If we had to do it again, I think Iād prefer having car seats over both the bassinet and JetKids. Thatās probably what weāll do on the next trip.
There were a few unexpected problems we ran into on the flights. On the first flight, our infant got motion sickness and spit up multiple times. She ruined one of my shirts and my wifeās pants. Not to mention my wife got motion sickness as well so I had to do most of the heavy lifting with the kids alone. It was a sleepless and messy flight.
On our flight home, there was a mechanical issue with the plane. They said we were losing oil. So on a Tokyo to Los Angeles flight we somehow ended up landing In Anchorage, Alaska. It goes without saying this was horrible and the flight home from Anchorage on Alaska Airlines was horrible too. But thatās not really relevant to flying to/from Japan so Iāll leave the details out. We wonāt be flying with ANA ever again.
To reiterate, do what you can to make your flight easier. Get the non-stop flight. Get the extra seat. This isnāt the area to be frugal.
āStrollerā
So you survived the flight. How do you get your kids around once youāve landed? We have two kids so we need a twin stroller right? Wrong. Taking a twin stroller to Japan is a huge mistake, donāt do it.
Most guides will tell you to use a carrier, and if you only have one small infant then thatās likely the way to go. But with two kids we used a travel stroller and carrier combo. At first I expected to only use the carrier and carry the stroller around until we needed it, but I quickly realized that carrying the stroller around all day is a huge pain. We have the Cybex Libelle which is small at 13lbs, but 13lbs is still heavy enough that you donāt want to carry it all day.
So our stroller remained deployed basically all the time. My infant sat in the stroller most of the day, until it was my toddlerās nap time. Then the infant went in the carrier and toddler in the stroller to sleep. It worked well for us.
How did we keep the stroller deployed the whole time? Elevators. Lots of elevators. And occasionally carrying it up and down stairs. The availability of elevators depends on where you are. Of the cities we visited, Iād say Tokyo is the best and Kyoto is the worst for elevator availability.
The wide majority of metro and train stations are going to have elevators. It can be hard to find the right entrance to use to find an elevator, but there is always signage and almost always a map. You may need to walk an extra 5 minutes, or wait in line, or get lost, so always give yourself extra time when catching a train if you are using your stroller. We spent a LOT of time looking for elevators on this trip.
We only found two stations our whole trip that had no elevator at all, one was the JR Kobe station and the other was a JR station in Tokyo (I forget which one). When this happened, I picked up the stroller and carried it with our infant in it on the stairs. If our toddler was in it I made her get up and walk, then carried the stroller.
The other problem at metro / train stations with a stroller is the gap between the train and the platform. Thereās always either a gap or the train and platform are at different elevations. You donāt have a lot of time to get on / off the train so this was a constant source of anxiety. Once our stroller wheel got stuck in between the train and the platform. It took some effort to pop it out. Another time my toddler stepped in the gap, but luckily I was holding her hand and stopped her from falling in. Always be mindful of the gap when you have kids. Itās probably one of the least safe situations youāll constantly run into in Japan.
Malls and shopping centers almost always have elevators. You may need to wait a while to get one though. In the malls with 10+ floors, you might need to wait 5 minutes for an elevator. Sometimes they have āpriorityā elevators for the handicapped and strollers but often times perfectly abled people rudely take up all the space in those elevators.
We thought we would have trouble taking our stroller into restaurants but it was actually much less trouble than expected. There was only one restaurant that flat out turned us away, Sushi Tokyo Ten in Roppongi. Other establishments will usually move a chair so you can put your stroller at the table or counter where the chair was.
So overall the stroller was annoying to use but I donāt think we could have done the trip without it. It was a necessary evil with two young kids.
āShinkansenā
We used the Shinkansen to get between cities. We had two trips, Tokyo to Kyoto and Osaka to Tokyo. We did not bother with the JR Pass, it wasnāt worth it. Mostly because our trips were 8 days apart so we wouldāve needed the 14 days pass which wasnāt worth it for two Shinkansen trips.
One thing that caught us off-guard about the Shinkansen is how quickly it leaves a station when it makes a stop. We were expecting to have some time to get on when the train arrived, but itās basically the same as a Metro stop. You have to get on right away. We made the mistake of buying a reserved seat for a train leaving in less than 15 minutes, without knowing where the elevator was. So we scrambled to get to where we needed to go on the platform and were the last ones on the train. We jumped on the train at the last second, we wanted to get to our specific car from the platform but we werenāt going to make it. Itās a miracle we didnāt lose a piece of luggage or a kid on the way. On the second trip I reserved a seat on a train that was 40 minutes out.
As far as seating we only needed to buy two seats. We would have put our toddler on our lap if needed, but we didnāt need to. Basically, one side of the train has 2 seats and the other 3. If you find a row that has the window seat open on the 3 seat side, then it is very unlikely anyone will sit in the aisle seat if you reserve the window and middle seat. We basically got a free seat for our toddler this way on both trips.
āBaby suppliesā
We had more trouble than expected finding baby supplies. A lot of guides online tell you to go to drugstores, and maybe we were going to the wrong drugstores but that wasnāt working out for us. We were distraught until we by chance came across Babies R Us. Yes, the Babies R Us that went out of business in the USA. We happened to be browsing the malls in Odaiba when we came across this gem. Itās a treasure trove of western style baby food and supplies.
Our infant is in the āpurĆ©eā food stage and we didnāt find any in drugstores. Most of the baby food is juice or rice porridge. Babies R Us has aisles worth of purĆ©ed food. It has diapers, wet wipes, formula, nose cleaners, and basically anything else youād ever want for your baby. We stocked up on everything when we found this place. There are several locations but we went to the Odaiba location in Tokyo and the Harborland location in Kobe.
Another smaller store we found in the mall below Tokyo Skytree is Dadway. They donāt have as much as Babies R Us but we did pick up some purĆ©e here.
The other place we picked up diapers and a few others things is Don Quijote, which has locations all over the place. Their baby food collection is basically as limited as drugstores, but itās fine in a pinch.
āEatingā
Iāve spoken a lot about logistics, but I had one primary reason for going to Japan: to eat tasty food. I had been to Japan once before I had kids and fell in love with the food.
Most guides will tell you families should go to family restaurants. Nope. Not happening. We did not go to a single Saizeriya or Bikkuri Donkey. And I definitely did not go through all of this trouble to eat at Dennyās. We went to a total of ZERO family restaurants.
Iām here to tell you there are plenty of good restaurants you can go to with kids. Even with a baby. Even with a baby and a toddler.
Iāll tell you my main approach to finding restaurants that will allow kids to dine with you. Your main tools are: Tablelog, Google Maps, and the individual restaurant websites. Tablelog is a great tool and their āwith childrenā section on the restaurant info page is very accurate. If a restaurant is listed as āBabies are welcomeā or āBaby Strollers acceptedā, then you can very likely eat there with a baby. If a place does not have such a listing, it isnāt necessarily a no, itās a maybe. Thatās when you need to search Google Maps reviews for ākidsā, āchildrenā, āfamilyā to see if anyone mentions the restaurantās stance on such things. If you canāt find anything on Google Maps, go to the restaurantās website. If they have an online reservation system, it is likely to list their stance on kids on the reservation page.
I did a lot of research beforehand and pinned all the relevant restaurants on Google Maps. That way, no matter where I was, I could find some good kid tolerant restaurants. I say ākid-tolerantā instead of ākid friendlyā because I consider ākid-tolerantā to mean that they let kids in the restaurant, while ākid-friendlyā means they have a kidās menu, high chairs, etc.
We were able to eat at a wide variety of restaurants, from overpriced Michelin starred places to budget Omakase places. There are a lot of restaurants in Japan. If a restaurant doesnāt let you in because you have kids, itās fine because thereās another similar one that will.
This is a list of good restaurants we ate at with our infant and toddler. These are just the places we made it to, there were plenty more I had on my list we didnāt make it to:
Gion Maruyama, Gion, Kyoto
Sushi Wakon, Four Seasons, Kyoto
The Oak Door, Grand Hyatt, Tokyo
Kobe Plaisir, Kobe
Roku Roku, Grand Hyatt, Tokyo
Daiwa Sushi, Toyosu Market, Tokyo
Inshotei, Ueno Park, Tokyo
Sushidan, Eat Play Works, Tokyo
Nishiya, Shinsaibashi, Osaka
Tonkatsu Wako, JR Isetan, Kyoto
Soju Dining, Tokyo Midtown, Tokyo
Imakatsu, Roppongi, Tokyo
Mizuno, Dotonbori, Osaka
Rokurinsha, Tokyo Station, Tokyo
Tsumigi, Tsukiji, Tokyo
Lots of different food stalls in Tsukiji Market, Tokyo
Other times we ate at conveyor belt sushi places, department store basements, or ramen places. The basements are a good place to get something for everyone. My toddler ate a lot of gyoza and noodles on this trip, she didnāt take a liking to much else. But Ichiran and Ippudo were right down her alley.
Tsukiji market was our go to breakfast place when we stayed in Tokyo. Thereās plenty of different choices there and it opens early enough for jet-lagged families.
Overall I had a great time eating. If my toddler is eating sheās usually not having a tantrum, and we tried as best as possible to put our infant to sleep before we went to any higher end restaurants. There were some awkward tantrum moments but for the most part it was fine.
āCity by City Reportā
Tokyo
We had two different stays in Tokyo, the first after landing in Japan and the second right before departing Japan. We stayed a total of 10 nights in Tokyo, but we wish we had even more.
We could have come to Tokyo alone the whole trip and been perfectly content. It has the best food, the most kid friendly facilities, and thereās plenty to see and do.
Hereās a few choice things we did with the kids:
DisneySea: My toddler loved this one. Weāve been to Disneyland in SoCal but this is completely different. Even I was excited since itās been a long while since Iāve been to an unexplored Disney park. A lot of people will say DisneySea is for older kids but there were plenty of rides my toddler could get on. Itās a great place for toddlers. A must visit with kids.
Ueno park: We spent a whole day in Ueno Park. Thereās a great zoo, a fun Natural History Museum, and good restaurants. We picked up bento boxes from Inshotei and ate them at a picnic table in the zoo. I think this park is also a must do with kids.
One of the city views: you have a few choices here but we went to Tokyo Skytree and Shibuya Sky. Shibuya sky is a little less kid friendly, because they donāt allow strollers on the roof and they have some weird rules about holding your baby on the roof. I think theyāre scared of a wind gust pulling your baby off the roof? I like the mall at Tokyo Skytree, and thereās a Rokurinsha there too (very good dipping ramen).
Small Worlds: This is a miniature museum on one of the man-made islands in the bay. Itās a little out of the way, but we made a day out of Toyosu Market, Small Worlds, and Odaiba. My toddler liked this one, the exhibits are interactive and fun to look at. It was better than expected.
Other than that we did a lot of eating and shopping in Tokyo for us adults.
Kyoto
Kyoto was probably our least favorite city to do with kids. In general itās just hard to get around. Thereās a lot of stroller unfriendly places. Streets without sidewalks. Rough cobblestone-like roads. Temples are not stroller friendly. Hills everywhere. Good luck getting to the top of the monkey park with a stroller. Itās definitely a trend in this city.
Maybe if you have older kids itās fine. But if you have younger than elementary school kids itās probably skippable. Thereās not that many kid friendly activities here either. Temples arenāt interesting for kids. The best kid activity here is probably the Arashiyama Monkey Park. My toddler got a real kick out of feeding the monkeys. Just be aware there is a significant hike to get to the top of the hill where the monkeys are. My toddler is a pretty good walker, she made it all the way without crying or complaining. But I saw some other kids that didnāt fare as well.
The other thing you might try near the monkey park is the Arashiyama bamboo forest. I think itās one of the most overrated sights in Japan though. Itās just mobbed with tourists all day. Itās not enjoyable with the crowds. Iāve been here twice and Iāve been disappointed both times.
I doubt we will be back to Kyoto any time soon.
Osaka
Osaka was nice. It was a bit refreshing to have many of the Tokyo conveniences again. Elevators everywhere, well paved and flat roads, and plenty of baby rooms.
Osaka is a good base for taking nearby day trips as well. We went to both Kobe and Nara without needing to take the Shinkansen.
The best kid experience in Osaka is the Kaiyukan aquarium. Itās big. The central tank with the whale sharks is impressive. They have lots of different animals from all over the world. Itās bigger and better than any aquarium we have in California.
The one thing I wasnāt prepared for was the lines. You need to pre-book your timed entry tickets online. We didnāt, and ended up getting tickets that were for entry two hours later. And we were there right when they opened. If I go to the aquarium at opening time on a weekday where we are from we can walk right in. Lesson learned.
We stayed in Shinsaibashi and itās a very walkable area. Thereās a covered shopping street that goes all the way down to Dotonbori. Namba is walkable from there. And America-mura is between Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori.
The Daimaru mall in Shinsaibashi is good for kids. Thereās a Bornelund in there with a small indoor playground, a PokĆ©mon Center, and good food.
I liked Osaka overall. The only thing I thought was a let down was okonomiyaki.
Nara
Nara was worth the trip. Itās about 45 minutes from Namba on the train, so not too out of the way.
Thereās deer all over. Deer that bow to you. In the park, on the sidewalk, in the street. Itās a unique experience you should see at least once.
The deer are rather aggressive when you have food for them. Itās not a place where you want your kids feeding the deer. As soon as you buy the food from the street vendor, they mob you. They try to snatch the food out of your hand. Make sure you watch someone else do it first before deciding to do it yourself. If I let my toddler do it she probably would have been terrified.
The other must see in Nara is Todai-ji. Itās impressive. The giant Buddha is something. This was probably the best temple we saw on this trip, itās visually stunning. More than anything we saw in Kyoto. I did have to carry the stroller up and down some steps, but thereās not too many.
Kobe
Kobe was great. It exceeded my expectations. The trip from Osaka is easy. We spent a full day there.
We started our one day in Kobe at the Nunobiki Herb Gardens. I wasnāt expecting too much but this place is really nice. Itās big, with lots of different gardens and exhibits to see. Thereās great views as well. We took lots of pictures.
Thereās a few different places to eat and drink in the gardens as well. We had some sparkling rose at āThe Verandaā which had a great view of Kobe. We didnāt eat because we had a lunch reservation down the hill.
Thereās a few things to watch out for. This place gets busy, so get there early. Thereās no reservations, you just go early and wait in line. When we left at midday the line was massive, so get there when they open.
The herb garden only takes up the top half the hill. At first I thought it extended to the bottom of the hill, but the bottom half of the hill is actually a hiking trail without gardens. So I bought a one way gondola ticket to the top expecting to walk down all the way, but after I realized the garden ended at the middle I bought another ticket to go down (instead of getting the round trip ticket like I should have).
After the gardens we went to eat Kobe beef. Kobe Plaisir was the restaurant I chose, which was both high end and had a kids menu. The beef was great and everyone had a good time.
Afterwards we went to Harborland. Itās a nice area on the harbor that has a big boat you can go out on, and a couple of shopping malls. The Anpanman museum is here too but by the time we got there tickets were sold out for the day. This is also where you can find a Babies R Us.
Our Kobe day was one of the best days of our trip. Iād suggest a day trip here for anyone.
āClosingā
Itās hard to travel with kids this age. No doubt. Everything will take more time and be more expensive than when you used to travel alone. But I do not regret taking this trip at all. As a matter of fact I want to go back right now. My wife loved the trip, and my toddler might even remember it when she grows up. She still talks about feeding the monkeys and how dad ate a āreal fishā (A Japanese sweetfish they grilled in front of us at Gion Maruyama). Japan is a great place for a first family trip.

2023.06.07 06:27 Holy_Shifter Process for making e-passport (As far as I remembered)
This is for those who don't want to make their passport from their home district. Also this is based upon my general overview at making the e-passport for the first time and it's process and contains the things that I did and remembered. This is for Department of Passports (DOP) at Tripureswor, Kathmandu.
YMMV. :D
For online process you will need: National id number and as well as your citizenship details and other family details.
Since I assume you already have National ID Number, you can now follow these steps to make passport from Kathmandu:
- Go to e-passport website.
- You need to choose whether you are making a passport for first time, renewing the passport, replacement (lost/stolen), and damaged. Then choose the appropriate application that you need.
- For first issuance (making passport for the first time), you then select the type of pages you need in passport. Most will choose 34 pages since it costs less. But there's also a 66 pages one available.
- Proceed to book the appointment country (Nepal), province (Bagmati), district (Kathmandu) and finally the location as (Department of Passports).
- Now select the available date. I just checked and the closest available date was at 23rd June, 2023 and there's also time but you can select any as that doesn't matter much. So you need to hurry up.
- Now you need to fill your details like personal information. Make sure to fill it as correctly. Even though some mistakes can be corrected at the office itself. But better to have correct info from start.
- Review the info and then submit it.
- You'll get a request number. Screenshot it (Just in case some problem arises). Also you will be able to download the form you submitted. Download and print it to take to the passport office.
- You also will be promted with message that you can pay for the passport fees online. But I suggest you don't do that. Saw people complaining about online payment.
This ends your digital process.
Now on the selected date and time (time doesn't really matter), you need to go to the passport office at Tripureswor. It's called Department of Passports or DOP. It's a pretty big and new building beside the bus stop so its hard to miss.
Things you need to take with you are: The e-passport application form you printed, your printed National ID paper (take photocopied one) and your original citizenship. For a 34 page e-passport, it will cost you Rs. 12,000.
You can arrive at around 9 am. Don't go too early. I went at around 9 to 9:15 am and my whole process from standing in line and exiting the office after finishing the biometrics took around 1.5 hrs.
- Arrive at around 9 am.
- Gate no.3 is for Passport.
- Wait in underground lot (Depending upon your luck, you may or maynot need to wait underground). Security will give you bank voucher to fill while waiting. (You will be guided to the main building or just follow the line/people :D)
- Go wait in line for ruju or verification process, and then pay rajaswo. You can ask which line is for which at the guards or people or look at the big board in the area that has all the details.
- Get the deposit slip after paying the rajaswo.
- Wait in line for biometric. Again, you can ask for people around like other citizen, guards or at the counter itself.
- Go to the biometrics room and get your photo and fingerprint taken. You will also be asked to check if the details in the form are correct. So this is your chance to correct minor mistakes. Mine didn't have any so just signed the paper. They will staple your application form, NID paper and rasid together. And that was it. Exit the buidling.
- Wait for 3 days to get sms that says to collect your e-passport. If even after 3 4 days the message is not given, you can directly go to the DOP and check if they printed your epassport or not. I went after 2 pm. So you should go around that time as well. Unless it's Friday.
- You need to enter through Gate 2. Near the gate of the buidling inside, a guard will be collecting the application forms. Give them your stapled papers and they will take the form and give you the rest.
- Now wait inside, they have certain rooms that give e-passport in alphabetical order.
- They will announce names so listen and when your name is called, show them your rasid/voucher and original citizenship card. And take your e-passport.

2023.06.07 05:46 ajoq Coworkers lied about my bonus
I just finished my first year as an accountant. End of year review just came up and to know what to expect, I asked some of my coworkers what I should prepare for. I asked what salary and bonus increase to expect, just to get some footing. My coworkers explained to me that my bonus would be 7k so I was very pleased. I just finished busting my ass for 5 months during busy season so it seemed like a reasonable number.
Cut to the meeting with my boss, and she lets me know that actual bonus was 3k. I acted pleased in the meeting, but I was extremely upset. I know I wouldnāt do that to my new coworkers, so I was caught way off guard. What a weird thing to joke about?
After the meeting, the coworkers that lied to me walked up to me laughing like it was some funny prank. I wasnāt sure how to act, so I just sat there and took it.
Now I donāt know what to do. Should I say something to them or just get over it. Makes me wish I chose a different profession.

2023.06.07 04:29 sophrosynegreek Recommendations for childrenās floaties that are coast guard approved?
My family and I love swimming. Now that itās summer we are in the pool every chance we get. My son is 2, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any floats I can put him in while heās in the pool that are coast guard approved? Iāve seen so many reviews on Amazon where parents warn of the floaty tipping over or it not being very āsturdyā.
Of course my eyes are on my son the entire time we are in or around the water, but he gets wiggly and gets tired of being in my arms. So Iām just lookin for something that I can put and watch him in rather than havin to carry him in my arms the whole time. Is he old enough for a life jacket?
Thanks in advance:)

2023.06.07 02:38 itsuperheroes Exceeding AdGuard DNS Family Plan Query Limit ā What happens?
Could anyone confirm what happens if you exceed the DNS query limit on the non-free plans? For some context, I would like to purchase a Family plan to implement on routers for some relatives on Hawaiāi, and at my home on the mainland. Collectively, our monthly DNS queries would likely top 11.5-12 million per month.
So not quite enough to justify the cost of the next tier up vs. a hosted AdGuard Home instance. But I want to confirm DNS will still function normally, and any custom rules (mostly for internal DNS resolution of external domains that point to locally hosted services) would still function properly.
I have emailed support, after reviewing FAQ and KBs ā I would like to take advantage of their anniversary pricing if possible.
Also, if I purchase an Adguard VPN license plan, do I also receive a Family AdGuard DNS plan?
