2023.06.03 13:05 sleepysnowbun i'm a kid
it's something only a few people know.
i am a kid, even though my body's all grown up. i know full well no one here will understand me, or what it's like to be me, but i still wonna try.
it hurts, you see, to have a body that doesn't fit who you are.
this isn't how my life is supposed to be. none of it. i should have loving, caring parents who take care of me. i should be in elementary school, learning from teachers and having friends to play with and going to playdates and having birthday and christmas presents and toys and everything. the biggest worry of my life should be whether or not i've done my homework, or if my parents will be upset if i forgot to brush my teeth one night.
i have none of that. my family doesn't know about me, because they would never understand. i'm already a disappointment to them, and they had a hard enough time understanding that i'm transgender. they would never believe nor understand me if i told them i was still just a little girl who didn't know what to do and needed their help.
i currently have a roommate who understands my condition/identity and tries his best to care for me, but he isn't really capable of providing the level of care i need, and our apartment lease ends soon. i also need to leave the country i'm in in a few months, my family lives in a country i can't stay long term in, and the country i have citizenship for is wildly anti-trans and i have no one who could help me there.
i don't have money, but i can't work. i don't think i am able to. i struggle to even take basic care of myself, how could i ever hold down a job, especially when i have cripplingly bad social anxiety, can't talk to anyone on the phone, can't go outside on my own because of paranoia and fear, can't talk to strangers irl? what can i possibly do? i don't have the mental energy or attention span to do any online work either, and even attempting to find something i can do sends me into a depressive spiral that ends with me just laying in bed unable to do anything.
but, that's just the normal mundane stuff.
how about the fact that i am almost completely alone in this? there are very few people who are like me, a kid trapped in a body too big for them. the loneliness is the worst part - i can never make any friends, or be my true self around anyone, because nobody understands me. nobody understands when i say i am a kid. no matter how i try to explain it, they just don't get it.
people hate what they don't understand.
i want to die. i am a kid who wants to die. i don't want to get old. i'm so scared i will never find a family or caregivers and friends who'd love and accept me as a kid, before i'm so old and aged that the dysphoria is too much to bear. at least i still look young now, but that won't last. i am on a time limit, before any chance of happiness in this life is gone forever.
there's nothing i can do about it.
people say "it gets better", not in my case. every day i get worse. every day brings me closer to old age and further from my true self. no matter what, i will never look the way i want to look. i will never have a body that matches who i am.
barely anyone can comprehend and accept i'm a kid when i still look like a teenager. what hope do i have when i look old?
i don't belong in this world, it was not made with kids like me in mind. i have no place here, and i am a burden to anyone who tries to help me, because i can't do anything in return. this world expects too much of me.
there is no point in sticking around when there is no solution to my situation. no transition, no empathy, no understanding or kindness or acceptance - nothing.
i'm not able to kill myself yet, which is why i'm even posting here. i don't want meaningless platitudes or "help" from those who don't care to understand. i don't want halfhearted well wishes. i want someone willing to understand me, acknowledge the pain i'm in, and accept me as a child, even when the world refuses to. if even a single stranger could find it in their heart to accept me...and maybe be a parent figure for me, for a little while...
i just want to stop feeling alone, even for a second. please.

2023.06.03 13:05 Routine_Bunch_5842 Clothing styles in Turkey
| Many people wonder what to wear in Turkey or if there is a dress code for women. When I went to Turkey in May, I did a lot of research on the temperatures and climates in each region and planned out my outfits for each day. Here are some of the outfits I wore: https://preview.redd.it/5wrw2w95cs3b1.jpg?width=780&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c587658593b7208f0b9ba7084c7fcb8ebe0bd139 Cappadocia Cappadocia is known for its hot air balloons, but unfortunately, they didn't fly during the four days I was there due to windy conditions. However, I still got to wear my long maxi dress from Lulus, which looked great with the colorful setting in Cappadocia. I also wore white shorts and a sheer smocktop on hot days, and an anatomy outfit with a windbreaker jacket on cold and rainy days. I brought a long sleeve midi dress and a bathing suit for the hotel's jacuzzi. Antalya In Antalya, which is on the southwestern coast of Turkey, I wore a black top with white shorts and a kimono for evening walks in the historic town. I also wore a long beach resort dress from Lulus and a sporty black dress from Athleta for exploring the ancient city of Perge. Tips for Dressing in Turkey - Check the weather and plan your outfits accordingly.
- Bring a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
- Wear lightweight and breathable fabrics.
- Opt for slimming dresses to flatter your figure.
- Accessorize with comfortable shoes, such as white sneakers.
Conclusion Turkey is a beautiful country with diverse landscapes and climates. With a little research and planning, you can pack the perfect outfits for your trip and take gorgeous photos in each location. My Fashion Choices During My Trip to Turkey During my trip to Turkey, I visited various cities including Kosh, Pamukale, Khao Khan, and Istanbul. I made sure to pack comfortable and stylish clothes that would suit each location. Kosh Kosh is a charming beach town known for its beautiful beaches and scuba diving. I wore a colorful and cute resort-style top from Revolve with beach coverup pants that had an elastic waistband at the back. I also had a dress from Amazon that I wore with a belt while walking around the resort. Khao Khan As we made our way to Pamukale, we stopped by the little town of Khao Khan for some photos. I wore white shorts with a bell-sleeve top that was off-shoulder. Pamukale Pamukale is famous for its thermal springs that resemble snow and ancient ruins. For the thermal springs, I wore a red and black bikini from Amazon that would pop in photos. I also wore a black wrap skirt over my bathing suit when we visited the ancient ruins. I also had colorful beach coverup pants from Lulu's that I wore for an extra day in both Kosh and Pamukale. Istanbul In Istanbul, I made sure to dress appropriately when visiting mosques. I wore a headscarf that I purchased from Amazon and a long skirt with a black top. I also had a jean jacket for the colder mornings. For other days, I had dresses with pockets that I paired with a silk scarf in my hair. I also had a dress for the rooftop terrace at the Henna Hotel in Sultanahmet. Footwear and Essentials For footwear, I only needed flip-flops for the beaches, sandals for beach towns, and sneakers for hiking or more walking in Istanbul. I also had my bandolier, which is a crossbody iPhone holder with a pouch for credit cards and identification, and my Pacsafe antitheft backpack that fits a lot and has antitheft features. In Turkey, people wear a variety of clothing styles that reflect the country's diverse culture and modern fashion trends. The clothing choices can vary depending on the occasion, location, and personal preference. Here are some common clothing items and styles in Turkey: Traditional Clothing: In rural areas and during cultural festivals or ceremonies, you may find people wearing traditional Turkish clothing. This can include garments like the "fes" (a red cylindrical hat), "yelek" (a vest), and "shalvar" (baggy trousers). Modern Western Clothing: In urban areas and daily life, many people in Turkey wear modern Western-style clothing, similar to what you would find in other parts of Europe or North America. This can include jeans, t-shirts, blouses, dresses, suits, and skirts. Islamic Clothing: Turkey is a predominantly Muslim country, and you will often see people wearing Islamic clothing, especially among women. Some women choose to wear a "hijab" (headscarf) along with modest clothing, while others may wear more conservative clothing styles such as "abayas" (loose-fitting robes) or "chadors" (full-body cloaks). However, it's important to note that Turkey is known for its diversity, and not all women wear Islamic clothing. Business Attire: In professional settings and workplaces, people in Turkey typically follow a formal dress code. Men often wear suits, dress shirts, and ties, while women may wear formal business attire such as suits, dresses, or skirts paired with blouses or shirts. Casual Attire: For casual occasions and leisure activities, both men and women wear comfortable and relaxed clothing. This can include jeans, shorts, t-shirts, blouses, casual dresses, and skirts. Turkey has a warm climate in many regions, so lightweight and breathable fabrics are popular. Seasonal Clothing: Turkey experiences diverse climates across different regions. In coastal areas, such as Istanbul, Izmir, or Antalya, people wear summer clothing during the hot months, including shorts, dresses, t-shirts, and sandals. In colder months, especially in central and eastern regions, people wear warmer clothing like coats, sweaters, boots, and scarves. It's important to remember that Turkey is a diverse country with a mix of cultural influences, and people's clothing choices can vary depending on factors such as age, lifestyle, and personal beliefs. He arrived with his parents and his famous siblings - Janet, LaToya, Jermaine, Tito and Randy. They waved to the fans chants of Michael is Innocent! https://preview.redd.it/p8jtchhn0p3b1.jpg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cb1c23e69cfefb6e4608aa16b3650011976c106 Defense attorneys completed their closing arguments, labeling the Arvizo family liars and con artists trying to pull the biggest con of their careers. "They are trying to take advantage of Michael Jackson," said impassioned defense attorney Thomas Mesereau. "They are trying to profit from Michael Jackson. They think they have pulled it off. They are just waiting for one thing - your verdict." "What they are trying to do to Michael Jackson is so harmful, so brutal, so devastating if you have any reasonable doubt about the double-talk, the lies, its over. You must acquit Michael Jackson," he told the 12 jurors. Mesereau spoke about the American system of justice and said, "We have the best system in the world and ladies and gentlemen I'm begging you to honor the system. You must acquit him." He accused prosecutors of trying to "dirty up Michael" because they lack the evidence to prove their case. "The witnesses are preposterous, the perjury is everywhere," Mesereau declared. "None of it works. The only thing they've had is to throw dirt all over the place and hope it sticks." He added: "If you look in your hearts do you believe Michael Jackson is evil in that way? Is it even possible? It really is not." Mesereau then played excerpts from a video in which Jackson denies any sexual impropriety and said that he had never been betrayed or deceived by children. The defense attorney conceded that Jackson had been lax with his money and had let the wrong people into his circle. But, he said, the singer was not the monster the prosecution were trying to depict and that he was not guilty of any crime. Afterwards, prosecutor Ron Zonen delivered a brief rebuttal. He sought to answer the question of Jacksons motivation for the crime asking, "Why would Mr. Jackson do it? Because he could This child was in love with him. This child would do anything he said." Zonen reminded jurors of the past allegations made against Jackson saying that this was necessary in order to see the total picture. He claimed that Jackson was in love with his 1993 accuser and added that the current accuser is a clone of the boy in that case. After both sides rested for the last time, Judge Rodney Melville ordered the eight women and four men on the jury to begin their deliberations. He gave them a 98-page book of instructions. The Judge told Jackson that he could stay at Neverland during the proceedings but requested that the attorneys remain within 10 minutes of the courthouse in case the jurors had any questions. These deliberations are the final stage of an ordeal that began 14 weeks ago. During this time the jury has heard testimony from over 130 witnesses. A verdict was expected early next week. Court Transcript While Jury deliberations take place, the whole Jackson family waits for the verdict at Neverland. https://preview.redd.it/lh5l7gqo0p3b1.jpg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5967b6b6c73b0a56bec2b5b8e28f20e68b9ddb7 2008 - Michael has dinner with Thomas Barrack Jr, chairman and CEO of Colony Capital LLC, at the Las Vegas Hilton's Verona Sky Villa. 2009 - Michael goes to Culver Studios with Prince, Paris & Kenny Ortega, where he shoots “The Drill” 3D https://preview.redd.it/5lzzqj2t0p3b1.jpg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8747a49dd0f9c68ae73b6f93fa21e2f9e01b6a77 https://preview.redd.it/hezl4ayt0p3b1.jpg?width=199&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dae7ef1a99ee196a5be6dbfb8cd5ab243856f58 He also, once again, goes to Dr Klein’s in Beverly Hills. 2013 - Jackson v AEG Trial Day 22 No Jackson family member was at the courthouse. Paul Gongaware AEG cross Putnam asked Gongaware if MJ was comfortable with all the show dates. "Yes, I went through all of the dates with him," Gongaware said. Bugzee, the tour manager, had a big calendar on the walls, Gongaware explained, saying they changed the dates of the shows four times. The jury was shown an email in which Gongaware worked with a staffer to create a calendar to show Jackson. He wanted colors changed. He wanted the calendar to be changed so that it reflected Jackson's show dates and off days differently. Gongaware email: Figure it out so it looks like he's not working so much As to the email, Putnam asked if he was trying to fool Michael: "No, I was trying to make it clear, trying to get it just the way I wanted it," Gongaware responded. After changing 4 show dates Gongaware said Michael was comfortable with it. He would do 8 shows in July, 10 in August, 9 in September. There would be no shows in October, November and December, resuming with 10 shows in January, 10 in February and three in March. No back-to-back shows. Gongaware said the O2 Arena had a previous commitment in Oct-Dec of 2009 and they could not have the concerts. Putnam: "Was this a rigorous schedule?" Gongaware: "No, not at all" Gongaware recalled that on the HIStory tour they did 10-12 shows per month, from country to country, but this one would stay in London only. Gongaware said he wasn't concerned with Michael's age. "He seemed great to me," he said, and this was stationary show, didn't have to travel. Gongaware: The reason Michael wanted to delay the 1st show was he wanted more time to rehearse in the O2 Arena where the show would take place. He said Michael and Kenny Ortega would decide the rehearsal schedule. Gongaware explained Michael didn't have to attend rehearsals, since it was not part of his deal. He said they never require an artist to rehearse. "I didn't have any expectation," Gongaware said regarding Michael rehearsing. He said he's never seen a requirement for a musicial artist to rehearse & that during the HIStory tour, Michael didn't rehearse but nailed it. "When it was game time, he would show up," Gongaware explained. For instance, Gongaware cited an outdoor concert in Bangkok in high heat, humidity. As to the email Gongaware wrote about calling Michael lazy, he said he used unfortunate choices of words, Michael didn't like to rehearse. Talking about the elements of the show, Gongaware described what they wanted to do for the opening of the show. He said Michael would be dressed up in a LED suit, like a television, flashing on him brief movie about things that happened in history. Michael would be lowered down onto the stage. He called the LED suit a "Moon man" suit, but Ortega called it "Light man." Putnam showed a presentation of how the LED suit idea would work. Footage is not on This Is It documentary because it was early stages of prep. Gongaware said the 1st idea was to make Michael float from the audience, but they couldn't make it work. So they decided to lower him down onto the stage. Gongaware said the big screen on the back of the stage was 3D capable. The audience would be given glasses when they entered the show. The 3D songs would be Thriller, Earth Song and Smooth Criminal. "He wanted to do biggest, best show ever, live show," Gongaware said Putnam showed email chain from Ortega to Gongaware asking to make a deal with choreographer Travis Payne. Answer from Gongaware: This is not AEG money, it's Michael's money so it takes a lot of time to get approvals Defendants were trying to establish a pattern that all the money spent was actually Michael's money, not AEG's, just like with Dr. Murray At one point Gongaware said he learned from Michael about a doctor named Murray. "He came to me and said he wanted his personal doctor on the tour". Gongaware said he suggested to Michael to get a licensed doctor in London who would know the lay of the land, in case of need. "This is the machine, we have to take care of the machine. I want Conrad," Gongaware said Michael responded. I think what he meant was his brain could create it but his body had to deliver the show every night Putnam: "Were you surprised he wanted to take his doctor on tour?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He had doctors before" Gongaware said other artists take doctors as well, so he was not the only one and it didn't surprise him. Gongaware said he's been on tour before where an artist had chiropractors, but couldn't remember being in one with a doctor Putnam: "Did you worry Michael might have a health issue?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He seemed fine to me, had a physical and passed" Gongaware said the suggestion for a London doctor was due to the cost; paying a doctor full time was much more expensive than hiring a local doctor. Gongaware said Dr. Murray treated Michael for about three years before 2009. He knew the doctor was from Las Vegas but said he was in LA. Gongaware said he then called Dr. Murray to work out a deal. Gongaware testified he didn't have Michael's direct phone number, would go through Michael Amir Williams, his personal assistant, to reach him. Gongaware called Murray on behalf of Michael saying the singer wanted to take him to London. "What do you want to be paid for that," Gongaware asked. Gongaware said he thought Dr. Murray was expecting his call and was aware of the desire to take him on tour. "He said he would need $5 million," Gongaware recalled. "He said he has 4 clinics to close, would lay off people, needs $5 million for that." Asked by Putnam if Murray's price was reasonable: "It was ridiculous," Gongaware said about the amount asked. "It was a lot of money for something like that and Michael could not afford it." Gongaware said he responded that it wasn't going to work" He said this was the first time he spoke with Dr. Murray. After that, Gongaware said he told Michael Amir and Randy Phillips what the doctor had asked. He also told Frank DiLeo. Gongaware said a lot of people who wanted to work for MJ asked for huge sums of money, thinking he had a lot. Putnam: "Would you be doing this if Michael had not asked you?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Did you contemplate bringing a doctor on tour?" Gongaware: "I didn't think he needed one, we didn't have one in History, he was fine" "He was Michael's doctor, Michael wanted him. That was it," Gongaware said. Putnam:" Did you think about checking the doctor?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Why not?" Gongaware: "He was Michael's doctor" " I'm not going to tell Michael Jackson who his doctor should be," Gongaware explained. "It wasn't my place to say who his doctor was going to be," Gongaware said. "It was his decision." Gongaware said he doesn't think a doctor's financial situation has anything to do with being an ethical doctor. Gongaware said it never crossed his mind to either do a background check on Dr. Murray or to suggest to anyone to do it. "I just expect doctors to be ethical, the financial side of their lives shouldn't have an impact on their medical decision," Gongaware opined. Gongaware said he never did a background check on anyone he hired and had he done one on Dr. Murray, it would've been out of the ordinary. He also said he never considered performing background checks on Jackson's makeup artist, a choreographer who worked one-on-one with the singer or Kenny Ortega, the tour's director. "I didn't see the need for it," he said. Dr. Finkelstein, a friend of Gongaware, said a doctor should charge $10,000 a month for the tour work. But Dr. Finkelstein would've done it for free, since he was on the Dangerous tour before and had a lot of fun The second call about Dr. Murray came from Michael Amir Williams saying they were going to need to get a deal done for the doctor. Gongaware said he heard Michael in the car saying "offer 150, offer 150." Gongaware understood that to be $150k/month. Gongaware called Dr. Murray, said he was authorized to offer him $150k a month. He said Dr. Murray responded that he couldn't do it for that. Gongaware told him the offer came directly from the artist and Dr. Murray responded: "I'll take it" Gongaware said Michael approved the amount of compensation. "Michael told me offer 150," Gongaware recalled. "And that's what I did." Gongaware inquired from Dr. Murray how he would get a license in London and the doctor told him not to worry about it. They talked about Dr. Murray's request for a house in London, and the doctor said he would need a three bedroom house. Gongaware recalled Dr. Murray saying he would probably need an assistant and some equipment, but no details were given at this point. After the call, Gongaware said he let Michael Amir Williams know what the result was in a May 6th email: Done at 150k per month, per MJ. He needs about 10 days to wind down his practice then he will be full time Asked why he had negotiated with Murray, the AEG executive replied that he was "instructed to by Michael Jackson." Gongaware said there was no other reason for him to deal with the doctor. Marvin Putnam asked Gongaware why he didn't tell Jackson he couldn't take Murray on tour with him."Because he could if he wanted," Gongaware said. Gongaware said he passed Dr. Murray on to Timm Wooley, never had any other conversation with Dr. Murray about him possibly going to London. Putnam: "Do you have any understanding as to whether a contract with Dr. Murray was executed?" Gongaware: "One never was" Putnam: "Did AEG pay Dr. Murray any kind of money?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said Michael was ultimately responsible for his own health: "I think everyone is responsible for their own health and well being. He was a grown man with the capability to make decisions regarding his health and medical care" Putnam showed Gongaware a frame from the This Is It film in which Jackson's manager, Frank Dileo, was sitting in on dancer auditions. Dancers auditions took place at the Nokia Theater on April 13, 14 & 15. Michael attended the last day and made the final decision, Gongaware said. He said Ortega wanted to film the audition to use fresh footage on michaeljacksonlive.com. The cost for crew to shoot the audition was very high, so Gongaware bought a couple of cameras and used his own crew to shoot the rehearsals. He said he wasn't sure what he would use the video for, but thought the website would be a good platform. Gongaware said during the period at Center Staging, Michael was good, engaging, didn't think there were any health issues or was using drugs Gongaware said the media in the UK was going wild with gossip about Michael Jackson. "They just lie about things." The Sun claimed Michael had skin cancer on his chest. "It was sport over in London," Gongaware said about stories on tabloids. Gongaware testified about emails in which UK press agents working on This Is It sent him tabloid reports on Michael's health. Gongaware said he urged the press agents not to respond. He wanted Jackson's performance to speak for itself & silence skeptics. Gongaware on 5/27/09: The Kid is healthy and rehearsing every day. He was still there at dance rehearsals at 9pm last night when I left. Our redemption will be when he does his shows, that makes all of this build up so damn sweet. We don't have to sell tickets, so we can just sit back and prove them wrong by just doing it. Gongaware said he was not concerned "If there was something going on, if he had cancer, we would've heard about it." Michael Jackson rehearsal venues: - Mar 28- Center Staging
- May 27- Forum June 23 - Staples Center
- July 13 - O2 Arena
Putnam also asked Gongaware about an incident Karen Faye testified about, that she heard him yelling at Michael's assistant one day. The incident occurred while This Is It rehearsals were happening at The Forum in LA. Faye claimed she heard Gongaware yelling about Jackson being late to a rehearsal and told his assistant to get him there. "Never, never happened," Gongaware said, shaking his head. Putnam went through a chain of emails about tabloid reports in the UK regarding Michael. In one, it said Michael had asked AEG to reduce the number of shows by half. Gongaware said that such a discussion never happened. Gongaware testified he woke up to one gossip headline pretty much every day. His idea was simply to ignore the tabloids. "An amazing show would be the answer", Gongaware said Gongaware on 6/5/09 in response to Sunday Mirror Query: "We can only make this work, of course, if MJ puts on the best show of his life. I'm here to tell you that be will. I have seen it for myself. Last night he ran 9 songs with full band, singers and dancers. Sang every one, he was amazing, captivating, riveting. And he's just getting started. Taking it one step further. When people realize that bulls**t the press has been, they will be in receptive mood for the truth Hey look. No skin cancer. He's just a good dad, loving raising his kids. His art and his craft are paramount. A gentle, loving man who does care about people "The shows were going to be spectacular," Gongaware said. Putnam showed a clip of Michael in front of a green screen with 11 dancers, who would become 11,000. Gongaware said Michael was great at this point Regarding email Phillips sent Gongaware directing to remove Michael's "skeletal" scenes Gongaware said he didn't take anything out of the movie. Putnam: "Did you remove anything from the movie?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam showed a clip from This Is It with the making of "Thriller 3D" and Jackson wearing red jacket. Putnam: "Did you try to alter in anyway how Mr. Jackson looked, appeared?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said he didn't remember any of the footage been removed because of how Michael looked. "We just let the footage speak for itself" The mini-movie of "Earth Song" a bulldozer would come out from a ramp in center stage. Putnam: "A real bulldozer?" Gongaware: "I wish, it would've been cheaper, but it would have crushed our ramps" Gongaware said they had to build the bulldozer like a prop. It would appear at the end of the song on stage. "I think the live audience would be just captivated by it," Gongaware said about the little girl running after the last plant on Earth song. End of the show would be 3D animation. An airplane taxis up, door opens, Michael entered the plane. The airplane door closes, Michael would actually take an elevator down and out of the building, but the plane would take off over the audience Gongaware said he didn't know if anyone was responsible for Michael's nourishment. Tour would be demanding and exhausting Gongaware said he met Dr. Murray once at MJ's Carolwood house and ran into him at The Forum during rehearsal. There was a meeting scheduled to discuss Michael's nutrition with Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega, Dr. Murray, Michael, Gongaware and DiLeo. Putnam: "Do you recall anyone in that meeting ever telling Dr. Murray how he should be treating Michael?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said he didn't have any medical training and wasn't qualified to tell Conrad Murray how to treat Jackson Gongaware said neither Dr. Murray nor Michael talked about the treatment he was receiving. The meeting was about nutrition & vitamin therapy. Gongaware said he had no idea Dr. Murray was giving Michael Propofol and first heard of the anesthetic after Michael died. Gongaware said Dr. Murray was really engaged in the meeting, seemed like a very intelligent guy and wanted to take care of Michael very much. This was the first time Gongaware met with Dr. Murray. He said there were no signs of Michael being poorly treated by the doctor. "Michael was engaged in the meeting, attentive, seemed happy we were having this meeting," Gongaware opined. "He's a doctor, he'd know better than anybody how to treat his patient," Gongaware said about Dr. Murray. As to Gongaware's email saying AEG, not Michael, paid Dr Murray he said he was mistaken. "We wouldn't pay his salary, we'd advance Michael's money". Gongaware said he didn't remember writing/receiving the email, but never denied he did it. As to Michael being habitually late, Gongaware said the singer worked on his own schedule, did things his way Gongaware said his understanding was that Michael hired a trainer of his choice, Louis (Lou) Ferrigno: "I made the deal with him (Ferrigno). He was supposed to be paid a certain amount of money per session" He didn't elaborate on fee, how many times he worked with Michael. Putnam showed an email from Travis Payne, he suggested a massage chair to be put in Michael's dressing room. As to Bugzee's email saying MJ needed cheeseburgers, brats and beers, Gongaware said Bugzee was joking, Bugzee cared very much for Michael. Gongaware testified he didn't recall having any concern about Michael's health/using painkillers as of Monday 6/15/09, 10 days prior to his death Gongaware was asked about several emails that have been shown before, including messages related to MJ missing rehearsal on June 19, 2009. The executive was on the East Coast for a family wedding, but responded to one message questioning why Murray wasn't at rehearsal. Gongaware email: Take the doctor with you. Why wasn't he there last night? He then explained his thinking to the jury. Gongaware: If his patient is having a problem and he's sick, and he's his only patient, it seemed like he should be there Gongaware said on 6/19/09, he was out of town. "This is the day Michael had chills at rehearsal and was apparently sick," Gongaware recalled. "If the meeting was going to be about what happened that night, the doctor should be there," Gongaware said. Gongaware said he believed Michael wanted to go on tour. He said he doesn't remember anyone talking about pulling the plug on the shows. Putnam: "Did anyone tell you at this point that Michael needed a drug addiction specialist?" Gongaware: "No" Putnam: "Did anyone tell you they were concerned with the care Dr. Murray was giving to Michael?" Gongaware: "No" Gongaware said that on 6/20/09 he did not think Michael's health was deteriorating. With last questions of the day, Putnam asked Gongaware if he was concerned about Jackson's well-being. He said "Yes" Court Transcript submitted by FelicitySmoak_ to MichaelJackson [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 13:01 TrickOk2137 Inconsiderate or overthinking?
I know this is trivial in comparison to a lot of the posts on here but I’m kinda trippin about it..
I’ve been working hard to better myself and get my family back together this past year. My ex and I split a little over a year ago after ten years and 2 kids together. I was selfish in a lot of ways, I was burnt out, lazy in life and as a lover. She cheated, I kicked her out, later told her I wanted to make it work, she wouldn’t commit one way or another and we’ve been kind of off and on since.. But things have been going well lately.. We been hanging out as a family (with our two kids) a lot lately and been slowly rekindling the flame w my ex. Last weekend was her wknd w the kids, I spent it with them and had a great time. Her and I got some alone time and that went well too, we also slept together for the first time in a long time. I finally started feeling like things are going in the right direction. My bday is in 2 weeks and we’re gonna spend the day together with the kids then go out just me and her at night.
This week was a rough week for her, kids have been sick and she hasn’t been sleeping much or feeling well either. We live two hours away so I feel helpless when stuff like this happens. She came up tonight after work and dropped the kids off. Normally I make the trip to pick them up on Fridays but my car is being fixed so she offered. She got here late, like 11, and asked if she could stay the night because she has to be at work at 5am and wasn’t feeling good. I said of course. She got into my bed and I took care of the kids til they fell asleep.
Got into my room around 12, she was up and said her neck was bothering her so I rubbed it for her til she fell asleep. I work graveyard so I don’t sleep at night, or much at all really.. around 130 I went into my bathroom, shaved, showered, washed face while playing low music on my phone. I got out and she was wide awake saying I woke her up by doing all that. It’s a master bed/bath and the separation between the bathroom and bed is a couple feet. I closed the door but still.. I apologized and she didn’t seem mad or come off angry she just said she needed to be up in 40 mins and decided to go to sleep in the living room.
Like I said I apologized and I feel terrible. I didn’t think id be loud enough to wake her but I feel like it was inconsiderate af for me to do that, which is somethin she has called me out for numerous times in the past.. I knew she had to be up in a few hours and hasn’t slept or been feeling well. I know she’s a light sleeper too, so idk what I was thinking. I feel like I just fucked up all the progress Ive made by being so inconsiderate. Am I overthinking?

2023.06.03 12:59 Scary-Guard-1769 Understanding Sleep Disorders: Causes, Types, and Treatment Options
Introduction
Sleep is a vital aspect of our overall health and well-being. It allows our bodies and minds to recharge and rejuvenate, enabling us to function optimally during waking hours. However, for many individuals, the experience of a restful night's sleep is disrupted by sleep disorders. In this article, we delve into the world of
sleep disorders, exploring their causes, various types, and available treatment options.
What are Sleep Disorders?
Sleep disorders are a group of conditions characterized by disturbances in the normal sleep patterns and behaviors. These disorders can affect the quality and quantity of sleep, leading to daytime fatigue, impaired cognitive function, and reduced overall quality of life. Sleep disorders can manifest in different ways, ranging from difficulty falling asleep to excessive sleepiness during the day.
Common Types of Sleep Disorders
Insomnia: Insomnia is the most prevalent sleep disorder, characterized by difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or experiencing non-restorative sleep. It can be caused by factors such as stress, anxiety, depression, medication, or underlying medical conditions.
Sleep Apnea: Sleep apnea is a condition characterized by pauses in breathing or shallow breaths during sleep. These interruptions can lead to frequent awakenings, snoring, and excessive daytime sleepiness. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is the most common type and occurs when the airway becomes partially or completely blocked during sleep.
Narcolepsy: Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder that affects the brain's ability to regulate sleep-wake cycles. Individuals with narcolepsy may experience excessive daytime sleepiness, sudden sleep attacks, cataplexy (sudden loss of muscle control), hallucinations, and sleep paralysis.
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS): RLS is characterized by an irresistible urge to move the legs, often accompanied by uncomfortable sensations such as crawling or tingling. Symptoms typically worsen during periods of rest or inactivity, leading to difficulty falling asleep.
Parasomnias: Parasomnias are abnormal behaviors or experiences that occur during sleep. Examples include sleepwalking, sleep talking, night terrors, and REM sleep behavior disorder (acting out dreams during REM sleep).
Treatment Options
The treatment of sleep disorders depends on the specific type and underlying causes. Some common approaches include:
Lifestyle Changes: Practicing good sleep hygiene, such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, creating a sleep-friendly environment, and avoiding stimulants (e.g., caffeine and electronics) before bed, can significantly improve sleep quality.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT focuses on identifying and modifying negative thoughts and behaviors that contribute to sleep disturbances. It can help individuals develop healthier sleep patterns and cope with stress and anxiety related to sleep.
Medications: In certain cases, medications may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms and improve sleep. These can include sleep aids, medications for treating underlying conditions, or specific drugs for managing sleep disorders like narcolepsy.
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP): CPAP is a common treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. It involves wearing a mask over the nose or mouth during sleep, which delivers a constant flow of air to keep the airway open.
Alternative Therapies: Some individuals find relief from sleep disorders through complementary therapies such as acupuncture, relaxation techniques, or herbal remedies. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional before trying these options.
Conclusion
Sleep disorders can significantly impact an individual's overall well-being and daily functioning. Recognizing the signs and seeking appropriate treatment is crucial for restoring healthy sleep patterns and improving quality of life. By understanding the causes, types, and available treatment options for sleep disorders, individuals can work towards achieving restful and rejuvenating sleep, allowing them to wake up refreshed and ready to face each day with vitality.

2023.06.03 12:56 GhxxxstCat Affordable Conditioner and leave in detangling spray/product for very long haired goldens?
It's summer, and that means baths twice a month since we are in the lake or the dirt almost every day!! (I miss her being able to sleep on the bed 😂) we are used to short haired dogs that didn't necessarily require conditioner, and we used some old "pet spa" orange or Citrus scented conditioner from chewy, but it doesnt spread at all and it just stays in one place in the coat and also just weighs it down too much.
I'd love something affordable if possible 😵💫 and leave in conditioners if they work! Please and thank youuuu 🥰🥰

--- Hr3101m973S’s perspective---
---Tuesday, 31st of October, 2682 Terran Calendar---
---Southwestern Scotland---
I ride the speeder at an altitude of 307m over the rural landscape.
I have 158 other bodies making similar deliveries across Britain right now, as well as 29 in Ireland and 11 in Doggerland. Though, none of them have quite as
spectacular a view as this one does so, for the moment, this is the body whose sensory feed I’m paying the most attention to.
I see a large herd of mammoths walking at the edge of the Galloway Forest.
Though it has a better view, the news I’m carrying with
this body is just as grim as all the rest.
In hindsight, it’s probably a good thing that I was such a spendthrift with regard to my fleet of courier bodies… If I hadn’t been, if I’d selected abilities that let them do much more than deliver things, they may well have been requisitioned for military use… which, I
suppose, they were
anyway… but there’s a
big difference between delivering notices on Earth and fighting on some distant planet!
Still, if sacrificing my replaceable bodies would save even a single irreplaceable life, I would definitely have done it.
The city comes into view.
Calling it a ‘
city’ may be a little generous… it only has 2,507,963 inhabitants.
That
may have been a respectable city in the 22nd
Century but, for context, nearby Dumfries has 7,491,509 and Glasgow has 24,339,192!
Stranraer occupies a
rare middleground between the historic hamlets that are allowed to exist in the countryside and the megalopoleis where around 98.32% of people on Earth live.
I land in the northern part of the town and step off my speeder.
I get some raised eyebrows as I walk from the landing pad to the residential home.
I don’t blame them!
Before the War, every single one of my courier bodies had a full suit of elastomer over their entire body, to make them seem more lifelike…
Now, though, that’s considered a luxury and, so, this particular unit is walking around with its metal endoskeleton bare, bar its uniform.
The effect can be a little offputting… though, in
truth, it may also have to do with the
news they’ve inferred me to be delivering to
some unlucky soul.
I cross the wall into the garden and begin walking up the steps, through the mosslawn shrouded by pinus sylvestris trees, to the house on top of the little hillock.
It takes me 12 seconds to reach the door from the gate… I can’t rush, I need to give this girl her due respect.
I rap on the door 3 times and hear the knocks echo through the cavernous hall behind.
A man opens the door.
I begin, speaking in the most popular local dialect of Lallans Scots that I know to be this man’s primary speech register “Greetings, Mr Baird. I don’t know if you remember me but…”
“I
remember you! I’m organic, not
daft! You’ve been here enough
times already…” interrupts the residential care manager, his demeanour gruff and no-nonsense “…
Come in, Hermes… You can wait in the kitchen while I go get her.”
I step into the building, passing below the lowest of 5 balcony walkways into an open space with a skylight ceiling, allowing in the natural light.
I let the man lead the way to a large kitchen.
He pulls out a chair for me.
“Thank you, Sir, but I believe I ought to remain standing to make this delivery.” I respond, politely.
“Suit
yourself…” he shrugs before walking off, presumably to fetch the girl he knows I’m here for.
I wait several minutes before he reappears.
The girl he has in tow is the perfect match of the file photo (though a few years older). She is average height, 178cm, and has an average build. Her skin is pale, her eyes are emerald green and her hair is long, absurdly voluminous, curly and
vividly red.
She looks to be in fine physical health and is making no pretence of illness or injury, though she
is scowling at me.
The grey bearded man shuts the door, leaving me alone with the girl.
“Could you tell me your name, please?” I ask, already knowing.
“Esme Reid.” she answers, truculently.
“And your date of birth, Ms Reid?”
“31st of October, 2664. Come to give me a
birthday present,
have you(?)” she says, folding her arms, pursing her lips and looking away to the kitchen counter by the window.
“Thank you…” I say, reaching into my bag to withdraw a letter and a large holopad with a stylus attached.
I hold the letter out to her and say “This is your conscription notice, Ms Reid. Please sign receipt of it here.” indicating the holo.
Her eyes flick from the paper to the screen before she drily answers “I don’t suppose, if I don’t take that or don’t sign for it, that’d mean I couldn’t be drafted,
would it(?!)”
I shake my head and respond “I’m afraid that no such loophole exists, Ms Reid… If you have a conscientious objection to fighting, you could request a nonmilitary national service. However, you
would be asked to provide some
proof of your conscientiousness and…”
“I’m no bleeding heart…” she says, snatching the letter from my hand, irritably “…I’ll sign for my bloody
death warrant!” scrawling her name on the pad.
Without looking at the pad, I check the signature she provided against the one on file and find it a close enough match to proceed.
“Thank you, Ms Reid. Please report to your local recruitment office in Stranraer within 14 days for your physical and psychological fitness assessments. They’ll then interview you regarding your preferences for training and deployment and they’ll
try to take those into account when assigning them.
“
Great(!) Maybe if I can convince my evaluator that I’m cracked enough in the head, I won’t get sent off to
die like my mam and dad did(!)” she quips, sarcastically.
“I don’t think you’ll have much luck with
that strategy, Ms Reid… Sol’s government have had quite the interest in weeding out malingerers these past few years… I would put the odds of success below 1%.” 0.75619902%, actually, but that’s
too many decimals for most biologicals’ patience(!)
She frowns up at me and demands “I’m being
such a brat about this… Why are you
still being so friendly!?”
I laugh “Ms Reid, though I
strongly encourage you
not to express the same demeanour to your
drill instructors as you are with
me, you are far from the worst person I’ve delivered this news to in even the last half
hour!… Right now, I’ve got a draftee in Leeds who’s explaining a hairbrained scheme involving unethically cloning a replacement to fight in his stead, I’ve got one in Bristol who’s trying to beat up my body but only really succeeding in hurting herself, I’ve got one in Edinburgh that’s run away in an attempt not to be served… by
comparison, a bit of scowling and sarcasm is rather
tame!”
“Huh!… Guess I’m not
quite the bad girl Ms. Larch always
told me I was, am I(!)”
“It seems you shall simply have to work
harder(!) I believe there is a leather jacket emporium in Stranraer that still does business…”
She smiles and laughs for the first time that I’ve seen.
That’s the
real reason I don’t get touchy about the attitudes expressed to me by draftees: It makes my job so much easier when I soften the blow with good manners and good humour.
As unfair as it is that so many choose to shoot the messenger, it’s understandable when you consider the messages I carry.
“Ms Reid…” I start, seriously but softly “…if you
truly do not wish to fight, you know there
are alternatives? You can discuss them with your recruitment officer but…”
“I got
no special skills, Hermes… Nothing I can do that an AI couldn’t do faster and better… The Merchant Navy’s basically as dangerous as the
Navy Navy, just
less armed… the Humanitarian corps has a waiting list so long that the War’d be
over (one way or another)
long before they got to the point of considering
me… I
know where
I’
m going… no use in fighting it…”
“Alright, Ms Reid… I wish you the
best…” I say, turning to leave.
Mr Baird shows me out of the house.
Rather than walking back to the landingpad, to retrieve my bike, I walk the other way.
My bag is still heavy with conscription notices… it only makes sense to deliver all the ones in this town first…
---Oskar’s Perspective---
---Southern Doggerland---
The evening sun plays off of the calm waves of the North Sea.
It should be
raining on a day like this…
This gorgeous weather is slapping me in the face and telling me to be happy, to be content…
I know the weather does not care for the happenings of people… I know that, if it rained everywhere and every day there was a funeral, the whole
world would flood… I know this… and
still… I
hate this contrast between my grim, internal misery and the tranquil sun drenched beach where I stand, this autumn day… There’s
barely even any
snow on the grass…
When this War started, I was fourteen and had two loving parents…
My Father was too old to serve, at 51…
At 37, my mother was
not…
Yet, it’s not my
mother’s funeral I am attending right now. That was two months ago.
No… the strongly built 55 year old man, dressed in a long white robe and clutching a Norse langsverð, despite having been a
fishfarmer and not a warrior, is my father… Lars ‘Walker’ Taylor.
His eyes are closed and he lies within a wooden boat, around 80cm wide and 3m long.
This boat was never meant to touch the water… I bought it from a supplier in Bankland that specialises in funerary boats for Doggerland’s Forn Siðr community.
I already recited a poem… there’s nothing else for me to do until the singer begins.
I’m not listening to the Goði prattle on about Valhalla and Ragnarök… I’m just looking at my father’s face… oscillating between hating him for doing this to me and hating myself for doing this to him.
The sermon concludes and a blonde woman, like everyone else present, dressed in snow white funeral clothes, steps forward.
One of the three men behind her brings his bow to the three strings of his tagelharpa, another raises a flute carved out of a cow’s leg bone to his lips, the last begins banging out a slow beat on his drum.
The band would definitely be larger if so many of the Hof’s musicians hadn’t been called up to serve.
The men begin playing a mournful tune and the woman begins a wailing, melismatic melody, not in English, the first language of most here, not in my father’s native Frisian, not even in New Norse, the liturgical language of his faith…
She sings in a strain of Norwegian that was spoken
centuries ago, when there were barely
any Forn Siðr practitioners living.
mf♫ Eg songane søkte Eg songane sende Då den djupaste brunni Gav meg dråpar så ramme Av Valfaders pant♫mf I have a final part to play in this ritual.
The Goði picks up the torch and lights it against a flaming brazier before beckoning to me.
I step forward from the small crowd.
In contrast to most, whose clothes are pristine white robes and tunics and such, I wear the same simple white suit that I wore two months ago.
I may be a nonbeliever but no one at my father’s Hof challenged the idea that I was the most fitting person to perform this last rite for him.
I take the torch from the man and walk to my father’s side.
I hesitate before I touch it to one of the mounds of high energy, smokeless fuel that surround his body… but only for a moment…
The flame quickly takes and, before the current verse of the song is even finished, the entire boat is engulfed in fire.
I toss the torch in and step back from the conflagration.
Minutes pass as I watch the inferno consume the entire pyre.
I barely notice the music stop.
I barely notice the crowd thinning as people leave.
I just watch as the man’s existence is wiped from the Earth.
“Have you thought about what you’re going to do now, brother?” asks a voice from beside me.
Without looking at the Pagan cleric, I dully answer “I have.”
“And, what is
that… if I may ask?”
“My birthday’s in January… I’ll be drafted… but I don’t have to wait… I’m going to go to the recruitment office and request an early start to my training… by the time it’s done, I’ll be 18 and they’ll be legally able to deploy me.”
“I…
see… that’s certainly…
an option… Have you
thought about…?”
“I haven’t, Tormund. This is what I’m doing.” I state, still looking at the blaze.
“I see… I wish you
well then, Oskar…” Tormund says, sincerely.

Following the events of Elimination Chamber, Dragunov looks persistent on training for his big match against his leader at Wrestlemania for the coveted IC Championship. Following Dragunov's victory, Gunther gets a bit nervous due to Dragunov being one of two people to beat him in WWE. He tries to combat this by ensuring Dragunov isn't able to have matches but he is unsuccessful in doing this. Instead, he forces Dragunov to endure a Open Challenge Gauntlet Match to prove that he is a worthy challenger. Gunther also puts Dragunov's IC Championship opportunity on the line to give him that extra security leading to Wrestlemania. This forced stipulation does not bode well with Dragunov but he still goes ahead with this added torture because HE'S ILJA FUCKING DRAGUNOV!!
With Gunther observing from the outside, Dragunov stands in the ring, awaiting his first opponent who turns out to be Angel Garza. Garza is toyed about with for a few minutes before Dragunov hits him with the Torpedo Moscow to dispatch of the first competitor. Next to come out is Ashante Adonis, much to Gunther's displeasure. Dragunov makes Adonis his bitch, sending him back to catering with the Torpedo Moscow. This continues to happen as more and more jobbers come out just to be smacked out by Dragunov. This leads to Gunther just stopping the match and telling Dragunov he's proved nothing here, so instead, he'll have a 2v1 handicap match next week against Vinci and Kaiser.
The numbers disadvantage does take a toll on Dragunov heading into the start of the bout but he manages to recuperate and take on both men at once. Dragunov eventually lays his stablemates out, ending the match by choking the life out of Vinci with the same submission he beat Gunther with, all while staring a whole through Gunther who for the first time in his career looks to be at unease. As Gunther enters the ring, he and Dragunov butt heads as Dragunov asks him if thats enough, before exiting the ring.
Next week, Imperium bring Dragunov out as it appears Gunther has finally decided Dragunov is worthy challenger, but reveals he has one challenge left. Out of nowhere, Kaiser and Vinci jump Dragunov as Gunther looks down on him, calling him pathetic and saying he'll never be worthy to be a challenger for his title. Gunther then pushes his stablemates away, taking matters into his own hands as he starts choking out Dragunov. Dragunov eventually fades as Gunther hits him with the Last Symphony. Gunther doesn't think this is enough however, and calls for the steel steps in the ring. Kaiser brings them in the ring as Gunther picks Dragunov up on his shoulders and POWERBOMBS HIM ON THE STEPS!! Vinci and Kaiser drag Dragunov's lifeless body out of the ring as they begin tearing the announce table apart. Gunther joins them and puts the final nail in the coffin, POWERBOMBING HIM THROUGH THE TABLE!! Imperium begins backing away, looking proud at the carnage they've produced as Dragunov is stretchered out of the arena.
As the weeks close in, the chances of Dragunov getting his title match look slimmer and slimmer. That is until two weeks before Wrestlemania, during a Tag Team title match between Imperium and Alpha Academy, DRAGUNOV MADE HIS RETURN!!! He comes down to the ring as Vinci and Kaiser look in disbelief. Alpha Academy would begin distracting the referee as the champions come down to attack Dragunov, who lays out both of them. Dragunov would go on to hit Kaiser with a Torpedo Moscow before rolling him back in the ring, allowing Alpha Academy to steal the titles as Dragunov manages to rectify the first of his mistakes in Imperium.
The second mistake? Sticking by Gunther's side. On the RAW before Wrestlemania, Gunther and Dragunov come face to face on last time, and despite Gunther's best efforts over the past month and a bit, he still has to come face to face with his worst nightmare. Imperium walk out with him, clearly fucking pissed after last week's shenanigans but Gunther sends them to the back, insisting he wants to face his biggest demon on his own. Gunther tries getting into Dragunov's head, telling him he respects him after everything he's endured and understands why , but it doesn't work as Dragunov looks to get revenge, attacking Gunther as a form of revenge for last week. He hits him with a Torpedo Moscow as he vows to end Gunther's tyrancy over RAW.
Wrestlemania XL:
This is it. His big shot. Will Dragunov end Gunther's reign of terror, or will the tyrant reign supreme? Things don't look well for Dragunov in the beginning as he is manhandled by Gunther but after an unexpected slip-up from Gunther which Dragunov capitalises upon, he finds himself in the driver's seat, even hitting Gunther with a Torpedo Moscow but only getting a 2 count. Gunther would respond to this with his vicious chops before hitting that Powerbomb which gets a 2 as well. Gunther continues his assault, not letting Dragunov get a touch of offence in with the fear slipping through the cracks. This fear would turn into desperation as Gunther would hit a trifecta of Powerbombs for A 1 COUNT???!! Dragunov would come back to his feet right after this, clearly fired up as he knocks Gunther's head off with a brutal Lariat. This isn't enough as he hits the Torpedo Moscow as the reign looks set to be over BUT GUNTHER KICKS OUT AGAIN!! Dragunov then goes to the move which helped him beat Gunther 3 years prior, but Gunther scouts it and escapes before HITTING A BURNING LARIAT AND THE FINAL SYMPHONY!! 1..2..KICKOUT!!! DRAGUNOV IS NOT HUMAN!! Gunther's desperation picks up as he goes to the final resort, the Gojira Clutch. Dragunov evades it though and OUT OF NOWHERE HITS A TORPEDO MOSCOW!! He goes to the corner and signals for another, WHICH HE HITS!!! 1..2..3!! GUNTHER'S 667 DAY REIGN IS OVER!!!

2023.06.03 12:52 Alternative-Cow-4420 Rude doctor on Reddit
I just wanted to thank all the doctors on this community who provide feedback. I know you have very busy Iives so thank you for taking the time to provide education.
There is one doctor on here however, who provides very rude and sarcastic responses. I just want to say that people come here because they have a question about their health. I’m sure most of us are worried and trying to understand what is happening with our bodies. It doesn’t help to have someone talking down on you. You are in a helping field where compassion is a must. You never know what someone may be going through. just remember to be kind. if you don’t want to comment on someone’s post or have anything valuable to say. Skip it. There is no need for sarcasm and rude comments. People are dealing with enough day to day. I am a medical SW and part time therapist. While in the hospital I’ve worked along side physicians. I know it’s a difficult job but please don’t allow it to take away your compassion and remember that people are dealing with a lot. Health is scary. This doctor blocked me for asking a question more than once (it is not always answered and when it was, there was a insensitive response). I really appreciate the doctors here but the gastro doc (libraryfun) who won’t see this because I’ve been blocked has a way of talking down on people and i think there should be rules in place for this. I am not trying to start conflict just shedding light in the patient experience.

2023.06.03 12:50 Efficient-Comb-8198 What these dreams trying to tell me?
I had a dream of unknown city and residents to me, in this city there were two sides, one for the locals and the other for scientists of whom all are archeologists (read yesterday that Carl jung wanted to study archaeology). The dream mostly took place in the archeologist’s zone. It seems like there was an outbreak of some predatory creatures far a way and the evacuation alert siren went on and there were the avocation organizers knocking doors of the houses of the archeologists telling them to go hide in the bio-lab which was underground. I noticed a full body fossil behind one of the archeologists who opened his door. They headed to the bio-lab and one of the archeologists who was Asian wanted to take his mummy fossil to the bio-lab but he was rejected like so many other archeologists who were forced to leave their fossils next the bio-lab door but this Asian guy had a brother who was from the organizer and he let him take his fossil. Down the bio-lab the archeologists were in teams (female and male each team). A female (No 1) from one team decided to detach her team mate and go out saying it’s not dangerous (she was kinda egotistical) and some other female (No 2) was mocking her male friend in an aggressive manner saying he’s not reliable nor capable and she went out too from the back door same as the previous girl. Later Female No 1 was killed by these creatures and was placed on the door with some other dead guy and later female No 2 was coming back from the local zone to the bio-lab and was about to open the door which behind was placed the two dead people ( they weren’t place by the creatures but rather the were injured and tried to run away but died when they reached the door)
The dream have little personal associations to me other than these:
- Archeologists: Carl jung wanted to study archaeology
- The creatures outbreak reminds me a movie called The Mist, I saw the movie when I was 15 y/o
- Ik no one in the dream
- I was in the dream as a watcher not as a participant as if I’m watching a movie.
- Note: am a 25 y/o female
I woke up at 2:00 am write the dream and finished writing at 2:22 I did some yoga bc the dream kinda troubled me and went to sleep again and had another dream:
A women (this women represents guidance figure in my real life) came our house (it was 50% different from my real house) and cleaned my father and mother room from these shadowy entities, I was suspecting her way would work and she asked me if my ears are ringing, I said no. Then the entities left the house and I heard their loud screams, we went to the back yard to see that they turned into dark gooey animals ( not a specific animal but they seem hybrid from different species only one was recognizable black goat ) all were running away in the back yard, they weren’t harmful but rather weak and scared. Then the women asked me if my ears are ringing I said yes and she said it’s bc now you are convinced the cleaning worked. We went inside (me, the women, my sister and mother) they sat in a room while I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and there I started coughing wanting to vomit but my mom was discussed by the sound I was making and she was shouting, I couldn’t vomit and I woke up.
I’d be grateful for some for your insight and opinion, feel free to suggest whatever bc previous suggestions were really helpful and eye opening.

2023.06.03 12:48 MrSelfDestruct32 Would I be DQ’d from a law enforcement job?
I suffered a pretty bad injury playing High school football and was put on opiate medication to treat pain. Naturally when you’re placed on this medication for any length of time you become physically dependent, which I did. I had to go to outpatient rehab to come off the medication. It’s been almost six years now since I went into treatment and came off the medication. Would this DQ me from a law enforcement job? Other than this I’ve never had any run ins with the law besides a couple traffic violations, and have never really done any other drugs besides smoking cannabis on occasion many years ago. These days I’ve completely turned my life around, I have started a family, and I’m in fairly good physical and mental health. I have experience working in mid-level management for a large grocery chain for many years, and currently work in loss prevention for a large multinational corporation. My dream since childhood has always been to become a police officer but after I got hurt I truly thought that dream would never happen. However now that I’m years out from rehabilitating both my body and my mind I’m wondering to myself if this dream is still possible. That being said I don’t want to waste my time on a pipe dream. With my past, would any agency even consider hiring me?

2023.06.03 12:47 5T34MKID How far will my 88 pulsar NX go?
I've recently obtained a 88 pulsar se, for the most part its in great condition, minor dings, 92k miles, and a good paint job, the problem is is that it sat in a garage for a couple years not getting any love. Anytime we go to work on the engine it always seems that something new is breaking, the engine is not in the best condition, we've talked to mechanics and they've all advised staying away from working on it at all. The thing is is that from the get go I've wanted to swap it, now I've done quite a bit of looking around and it seems no ones really done swaps or anything for that matter to these cars, I've seen a sr20 AWD swap, and a couple ca18det swaps but other than that there's not much, which just excites me. I've also read that ca18det's fit right up to the ca18de's FWD transmission (correct me if I'm wrong) so if no other swaps are possible I'm not against this in the long run. I find the car rather cool n unique looking and the thought of putting a better powerhouse under the hood is just a fascinating thought to me. I'd prefer to keep it FWD so my first thought was maybe a sr20de, but those are rather hard to find here in the states. Then came the thought of something from Honda, whether it be a b18 or a Kswap (preferably the b18c1), either way the tuneability of a Honda motor with the lightweight body of the pulsar would just be a crazy match. (Also if you're wondering legality isn't any worry of mine, I plan on racing it on closed tracks if I pull anything off.)
Now here comes the part where I need your guys' help. Would a Honda swap for this car really be possible? or am I in over my head? I get that some fabrication might be needed but if all it is is that, money, n time I'm really not against it. Also if I do manage to pull off a Honda swap what other problems might arise? Should I just ca18det swap it?
Any and all feedback is welcomed and appreciated. <3

2023.06.03 12:43 Entity904 World Building Post: The Enili Princedom
Enili is one of the largest southern princedoms, the strength of which is heavily reliant upon the support of the Kawriq Empire. It is ruled by a prince, currently Izevel, who is the head of the princedom senate, overseer of the court of judges, and possesses unquestionable executive power within the nation.
The soil there is of a bright orange to dark brown coloration. Alhough it does not hold many
natural resources, it is a treasure in itself, fertile and capable of sustaining great forests and farmlands. Woodwork, harvested crops, livestock meats and furs, woven fabric, pottery and glass, as well as experienced professionals make up most of the country's exports. Metals, spices, alcohols, scrolls of papyrus and many other materials need to be purchased from merchants from the north, east, and west. The people of Enili commonly use clay tablets for writing and notation, but since the nation fell under the influence of the Kawriq Empire papyrus scrolls began to significantly gain on popularity.
The princedom does not possess a large
army, and its city lacks in strategic defenses. However, it does maintain a fleet of over fifty state-owned ships to deal with pirates and perform escorts of important individuals and resources, while the city militia is numerous, well-trained, and well-equipped.
The City of Enili, located on the most eastern flank of the Kawriq civilization and easily accessible from land and sea by travelers and merchants from far away, has become a safe stop for those travelers. It allows them to rest in their journey, make repairs to their vessels and equipment, and resupply at a relatively cheap price. Many buildings at the center of the city were built out of white imported marble and sandstone, while on the outskirts wood and orange clay bricks are the most dominant materials.
The city has been expanding both in
population and size at an unprecedented pace for the last few years, reaching no less than one hundred thousand citizens, about sixty thousand non-citizens (mostly immigrants from Kawriq, and people from the dry and hot north) and thirty thousand peasants with limited rights. To gain a citizenship and the benefits it grants one has to serve at least twenty four years in the city militia, navy or military (and half as much to become a half-citizen) or be born to a pair of citizens, or one citizen and one half-citizen. Half-citizens are effectively citizens who were born to pairs of a citizen and a non-citizen, however child of a pair of two half-citizens will always be a non-citizen. They can improve their status and become a full citizen by paying a half-citizen tax for twelve years and completing a written test of citizenship.
The city posses a primitive, mostly covered
sewage system, making it suprisingly clean and pleasant-smelling for its size.
The faith of the feathered twins has recently become the main religion, and while the cults of most of the lesser gods have died out or been nearly completely abandoned, however their statues and symbols are still understood to attract good spirits. They are still actively prayed to, but more as a group. Those relics of the past can often be seen in public meeting areas and households, bringing luck to the citizens. Similarly, the fossils and bones of long-dead animals have always been understood to protect from tge evil spirits, the fuller and more accurately articulated the skeleton, the better. In accordance with the dominant Enili philosophy known as the "palace of the higher needs," no temples or ancient statues were purposefully demolished. Instead, they were repurposed to serve the feathered twins. The religious conversion was mostly swift and bloodless, thanks to countless public speeches by philosophers, government officials, and public representatives, as well as successful negotiations between interested parties.
There are many
skilled craftsmen living within Enili, purchasing raw resources from merchants and selling finished products with profit. Many private, priesthood-owned and state-owned schools exist there, the most well known of which is the Enili School of Craftsmanship and Philosophy, located in a repurposed ancient temple on the western bank of the river Izu. According to many the Enili School represents the highest standard of education in all southern princedoms. A large population of alchemists lives in the eastern part of the city, producing and selling a great number of elixirs of questionable effectiveness, though there are many things they produce that have been proven to function as intended, coloured glass being one of them. The woodwork sector is also strong within the city, producing great art, furniture, and sturdy ships of the Enili pattern. Many poets, artists, sculptors, architects, engineers, and philosophers also live within the city, and their works are the pride of Enili people.
The coinage there is somewhat unusual. The "unicorns" are the very recently introduced coins of the highest value. They are round, made of platinum and iron, and bear the image of the creature on one side and the stylized profile carving of Izevel on the other. They are worth one thousand of the golden coins each. The "envoys" are the second most valuable coin, made of gold, square, and with a hole at the center. They bear the image of two envoy birds on one side and the ruler of the Kawriq Empire on the other. There is also another, older version of this coin still in use called "phoenixes," which has the image of a phoenix on one side and the likeness of either Izevel, Izevel's father, or another old ruler on the other. Each golden coin is worth twelve silver coins. The triangular silver "altars," each with a hole in the middle, bear the images of a fish, a crowhorse, and wheat, respectively in each of the corners, and the panorama of Enili on the other side. Each silver coin is worth twelve of the round coloured glass coins, known as "tokens", which can bear a great variety of state-mandated symbols, and are mostly orange in coloration.
The Morning Mountains Colony is a territory aquired relatively recently by the Princedom of Enili by a threat of force and exchange of many coins. It's a small but growing city located near the source of river Izu, counting around ten thousand non-citizens in population. It is ruled by a council made up of its inhabitants and a governor from the City of Enili. The Colony is relatively prosperous and content with it's current political situation. Trade has significantly increased since it joined the princedom, living conditions have improved and a few schools and roads have been built. It's better fortified than the City of Enili, with a steep cliff protecting it from one side and a palisade from the other.
The Colony possesses a military force counting around one hundred armored envoy riders, three hundred crowhorse-riding archers, three hundred infantry and ten ships. The purpose of this very expansive force (maintained mostly from the taxes of the citizens of the City of Enili) is to protect the trade routes, eliminate bandits, maintain peace and protect the north of the Princedom of Enili.

2023.06.03 12:42 PrakashGuptapg Surprising Benefits of Video Conferencing Solutions
One of today's most common methods of communication is video conferencing or virtual meetings. Businesses have seen a decrease in travel expenses and an increase in productivity. Additionally, businesses use video conferencing to communicate with clients, partners, and staff members worldwide.
The technology has existed for a while, but only recently has it experienced a surge in popularity as a result of its capacity to offer simultaneous real-time contact among many individuals.
What is Video Conferencing? The use of audio and visual technology to communicate among numerous participants is known as video conferencing.
Regardless of their actual location, users can participate in meetings, presentations, and other activities with
video conferencing solutions.
It's a fantastic approach to communicating with those who are far away. Without leaving your home office, you can have meetings with clients or coworkers who live elsewhere. Because you can instantly share files and screen information, video conferencing also makes it simpler to cooperate with teams that are located across the county or around the world.
1. Increases Team Efficiency Efficiency gains for teams are one of video conferencing's main advantages. Teams have more time to concentrate on their task because they can travel less. Additionally, more effective communication and decision-making lead to increased accountability and productivity.
2. Instantaneous Communication An excellent approach to communicating with people who are in various places is through video conferencing. Unlike asynchronous methods of communication like email and phone conversations, it provides real-time communication. People's body language and facial expressions are visible. Additionally, you can view their surroundings, which clarifies their context.
This will keep everyone on the same page and ensure that nothing is lost in translation, making it particularly helpful for business meetings or brainstorming sessions.
3. Increases productivity Would you rather connect through a video conference and have a virtual face-to-face talk with a client than send them an email and wait for their response? The latter method, using the screen-sharing capability for interactive meetings and webinars, is the most popular.
By enabling employees to work remotely from any location,
video conferencing solutions help to increase productivity. The flexibility allows workers to maintain a work-life balance, whether they are in coffee shops, on the beach, or in the mountains.
4. Translation for multilingual meetings Nowadays, the majority of companies serve customers from other countries, and communicating remotely to discuss business plans and strategies has become customary. Of course, a language barrier is a problem that arises. But there is a fix in the cloud.
Companies can use Skype and Microsoft Teams, which have tools for text or voice translation. It enables communication in different languages by transcribing spoken words and translating them in real time for everyone to hear and comprehend.
5. Saves Time When it comes to time-saving, video conferencing offers several advantages. One reason is that face-to-face meetings can take longer than virtual ones. People can remain seated at their workplaces and participate in the conference via video chat rather than travelling across the neighborhood or the nation. The majority of us travel for 30% of the workday, so this adds up to a lot more lost time overall!
Choosing from one of the best
video conferencing companies can reduce overhead costs by omitting costly venue rents and catering expenditures, in addition to saving money on travel expenses and lost productivity from waiting in traffic.
6. Facilitates the Global Approach of Businesses The capability of video conferencing to enable global corporate expansion is one of its most significant advantages. A firm can utilize video conferencing to collaborate with other enterprises and enhance customer service, both of which contribute to a better overall customer experience.
7. Establishing a Powerful Professional Network Create a powerful professional network, video conferencing has grown to be a crucial tool for business professionals. Everything from job interviews to fostering ties with partners and clients to simply catching up with
video conferencing companies around the world uses video conferencing.
8. Promotes Better Decision Making Everyone on your team can see each other's faces when you're all in the same room, which facilitates communication. Because you don't have to wait for your coworkers to respond by email or text, you may have more productive interactions with them. Additionally, you won't have to rely just on one person's opinion because you will hear several points of view from those seated around you. This will help you to grasp issues better and make deft decisions.
Conclusion Businesses can benefit greatly from using
video conferencing solutions in Australia because it increases productivity and efficiency. It is impossible to exaggerate how useful this technology is because it gives workers infinite options for collaboration and goal-achieving.

2023.06.03 12:41 WHy_aM_i_4LiV3 I wasted 4 n a half years to get cheated on
I've been with my gf since 2019. I've been doing all i could to make her happy, i would cook, I would clean, I would ride 9 km on my bike in 20 minutes when she got drunk and wanted to kill herself. I've devoted my whole life for her, the only reason I tried to better myself, i studied and worked was for her. When we started dating i was in a mental ditch and she helped me open up she would listen when i talked about my troubles with self esteem, she would comfort me when i would break down crying afraid that im not good enough.
Three weeks ago she started sexting with some random guy she met that same day.
She told me that she went volounteering in some movie and she men a few guys, who started flirting with her in a way that she described as "any other girl would be disgusted" but she felt like sbd wanted her body and it made her feel good so she flirted back. She said that she got contact to one of the guys and that he's really nice and nerdy, intelligent, depressed on therapy and over all really similar to me, in ger type. Then she said that she thinks she might be polyamorous and she wants to talk dirty with him cus it makes her feel wanted. (Later i also got out of her that she already planned out another meeting w/ him).
(Quick note its not the first time she had someone behind my back. Throughout the first 6 months we were together she was sending nudes to three guys behind my back. Obvs to get attention. I didn't care then but now i can't get the thought of that scenario repeating the third time)
I said that from my pov she isn't polyamorous because she does not love him, she just lies to me and uses him for boosting her self esteem, and that she sould cut contact with him and go to therapy instead using others to feel better.
Later i read their convo.
From the fucking beginning it was forced to be sexual and not by him but by her (i got in contact w/ the guy and he is fucking asexual so he did it only cus she wanted it). I read their messages and it was mostly what i would tell throughout those 4 years to her to show her that i want her cus she had low self esteem, other than that there she send a vibrator pic calling it "a soft pic". She forced the same validation i tried to give her out of someone else, showing me that I'm clearly not enough for her.
She went on a charade of crying and acting like she was bouta kill herself which clearly is manipulation yet she doesn't fucking realize it is. Few days later she started assuring that she still loves me and she will fight for me. She knows that she hurt me really bad and she will listen to my emotions and i won't have to do anything cus she will be the one to take care of me now. And i liked that.
Week later when i have another breakdown (which i have daily now and only way to avoid it is either drinking or playing fallout 2 till i fall asleep) and so far before that she would just hug me and start reassuring me as i instructed her to do. This time she started bitching about it cus "it doesn't motivate her to try" n shit. I was speechless. I started talking something i don't really remember but i said that we shoud stop seeing each other for a while. We gonna meet it 23rd of june.
I don't trust her anymore. I don't know what to do, i feel like i sort of still love her, most the time i hate her for what she did. I can't enjoy anything anymore, i feel like im useless, i can't go on anymore. I want to kill myself. But then i get jealous about her just getting to use me, ruin my life and just go out unharmed and then i want to do a murder suicide. I don't know what to do, i can't go on anymore. Please let me die, i hate it here

Ramifications of Plato's Cave
I think people have talked a lot about the nature of Plato's Cave and not enough about the ramifications of Plato's Cave.
If we are all stuck in a subjective view of the world, and we become illusioned by ourselves, and we rarely ever want to throw away this illusion (ie pursue enlightenment), what does that say about us?
We don't merely think in terms of narratives. We like narratives. We prefer the cave. We live our lives as though it were a narrative. We probably couldn't even stop this if we wanted to, to a certain extent.
What does it mean when we absorb this? What are we doing for ourselves at the point in time when we start thinking about these topics?
In short, we're unhappy with the narrative. It's literally like waking up from a nightmare. We're scared or upset about the nature of reality, so our goal is to recraft a new narrative that will put us back to sleep. That's the concept of "peace". That's the concept of "non-disturbance", which is something we've been chasing ever since we were born and wished to return to the womb, which was a period of forever sleep and forever peace.
All of the learning in the world starts with wanting to understand the world's parameters, so we can more effectively craft dreams for ourselves, so we can live out the narrative that will make us happy.
Neo in the Matrix is the "hacker" who wants to know deeply about the universe because he is someone who wants to craft the greatest dream of all, for himself and for his love (Trinity). Neo ends up sacrificing himself to save his love, which means he "dies" and so does the ever-present evidence of the Matrix existing (Agent Smith everywhere). This is again proof that he prefers the dream, although he also believes that he will one day overcome all of the ancient, deprecated "code" (memes, genes, traditions, culture, etc) inherent in human individuals and in human society.
This is representative of the mythology around christ consciousness. It is about sacrificing one's self for future reward, which comes in the form of a richer, more pleasurable, and more real story. Perhaps one in which we are all happier, healthier, and more prosperous. This is the summary of the entire mythos around Neo, Jesus, and many other individuals.
I think one of the main reasons old psychedelic aficionados will say "you didn't take enough" if you have a bad trip is that one of the main goals of trips is to remember why you went. Not just "what information are you trying to extract" from this trip, with altered consciousness, but why do you need this info? What are you really doing with your life?
Traumatic rituals
Another implication from this...
What is the purpose of traumatic rituals, perhaps some we might call satanic?
If we induce fear in someone, we can get them to keep waking up (not just in terms of sleep, but in terms of consciousness), and when they do that, they have a chance to advance themselves. It's totally abused though, and they aren't trying to create enlightened individuals so much as highly trained tools who can do things that ordinary sleepwalkers couldn't.
Sex Magick
This is related to operant conditioning. basically, the reward centers are so activated from sexual activity (or even masturbation) that it helps get you to agree and purify yourself before an idea.
Sexual activity puts you in a very suggestible and controllable state. If someone else is providing you with the sex and ideas at the same time, they can control you with this process. That being said, you can use sex to actually meditate and change your own mind as well, but this would not be broadly taught due to the inherent risk in doing so (only works as well as the individual makes good choices during it).
As I will get into later, the idea that thoughts and ideas are like lives, so the "lives" which learn to desire and crave sexuality find themselves to have complete and utter control over your body at times. The only way to cure such an addiction is to go around and exterminate these lives. It's not just about deciding to do it, nor is it about living in the vain belief you even do decide on a moment to moment basis what you do. You actually have to consciously do work to kill those devils. Also for this reason, sex magick is not widely taught.
Curiosity
There is this concept of simply "noticing the birds". Jesus was even quoted saying something along the lines of "make sure to smell the flowers".
Why though? We usually decipher this as just "enjoy your life" and don't think more about it. I have an alternative explanation.
Acts such as this are what keep you awake. They retain your consciousness. By continuing to be curious, your mind stays alive. And furthermore, it is the healthier alternative compared fear, which I said would keep you awake in a more nightmare-like state.
Waking up
As I said, we are all living out narratives. The question is, who is the narrator and the story planner? In a healthy, conscious adult, you are your own god. You are your own narrator and story planner. What does the entertainment/education/media complex attempt to do? It wishes to subvert your narrator and story planning, so that
it is now in control, and you are merely observing something outside of yourself. This is mind control. Now, consciousness is always observing something, since it has a rather passive role in cognition, but the point is that it's no longer observing internal processes so much as an external "man behind the curtain", representative of all of entertainment/education/media available today. We do have a name for this complex. We call it "The Cathedral".
While it's certainly true that entertaining content has a market value, it's absolutely crucial for you to understand that The Cathedral is not an organic institution made up of profit seekers. The Cathedral is an ideological organization that is
not concerned with making money. Why? The Cathedral is ran by the people who already own half the world. They run finance. They are the bankers. The purpose of the Cathedral is not to make profit, but to ensure their primary modes of business continue to profit them.
It is disinformation. Yes, there are subcontractors who seek profit in the Cathedral complex, but these are not the people who run the system.
There are a ton of avenues for exploring this. We could talk about how old oil money was the primary means by which radio as a medium was researched in the early 1900s (The Radio Project, funded by Rockefellers). We could talk about how identity politics scarcely existed just 10-15 years ago, and when the Occupy Wall Street movement started gaining momentum, suddenly identity politics existed as a distraction from anything those nasty Wall St executives and their lackeys were doing. People seem to get angry because they think Disney is attempting to create a profit from selling the new Mermaid to a wider range of audiences than before, but they should be
even more angry if they realize Disney ultimately doesn't care about making money from Mermaid. They simply are doing what they are told, to drum up conflict and loss of social cohesion, so that the real powerbrokers can operate unimpeded.
Yes, it is about money, but not necessary movie money. Not necessarily tech bro money either. Even Facebook showed up at the exact time that DARPA was shutting down an exploratory project called LifeLog that did the exact same thing. Did Zuckerberg "magically" pull himself up by his bootstraps, or was he connected like Bill Gates was connected, whose father was powerful in the intelligence community and who was a member of the early equivalent of the WEF dating back to the 1960s? Microsoft was a ploy for the government to have a backdoor into all computer systems. Facebook was a ploy for the government to have a backdoor into everyone's social lives. Google has become a ploy to control all searches (I have not found evidence to suggest it began this way though — not to say it doesn't exist).
You might ask yourself... Does it feel like something is missing in your life? Would you call it "meaning" or "spirit"? Is it possible you have lost communication with the center of yourself which has the answers for meaning and the feeling of spirit? And could this lost communication be due to the Cathedral's attacks on your mind?
The problem isn't necessarily waking up / not waking up. This is a false dichotomy. Simply change what you are dreaming about.
However, "waking up" could be considered an honorable task, since you are in effect becoming the lightbearer for everyone else. For that path, the most important thing to realize is that there are different reasons to wake up. It's really just like dreaming. You could wake up from a nightmare, or you could stay up all night out of curiosity for a thing that you just can't put down. "Waking up" out of fear isn't very productive (except insofar as you change your dreams, per my first point), but waking up out of curiosity and creativity is... simply world-changing.
Is that why they're banning books in Florida?
Which books are they banning? Those that serve curiosity, creativity, intelligence, and growth as a human being, or those that serve darker forces such as perverse sexuality?
People are equipped with limited options to fight the tyranny of the Cathedral. Book banning is a last ditch effort to stop the mind control put upon us.
Even if you don’t believe in conspiracy….. his words ring very very true
This is an interesting, albeit naive, place to be. You blame all bad things on the nature of people, rather than the actions of people.
Free Will
If we consider that language is composed of symbols, which indicate concepts, and that concepts seem to always be a compressed version of something that's beyond the logical mind's ordinary ability to work with, then it follows that free will is just such a symbol.
Further, our conceptual mind apparently gives all concepts their meaning by way of relating them to opposite symbols — e.g. free will has no conceptual usefulness in the absence of the concept of "fate" or "destiny", etc. I propose that neither free will nor destiny exist as anything other than concepts which aren't mapping the situation realistically.
Specifically they are symbols, and "we" exist within those symbols so long as there is an automatic assumption that if neither exists, something must take their place. If you tell someone they have free will, you automatically introduce the concept of destiny, and vice versa. If you tell someone who doesn't know themselves that they have free will, exactly who have you granted such "freedom" to?
All of these symbols are like "lives" themselves, and as long as they exist within us, they live and state their cases to be known. When you fully decide against something, you kill it within yourself. You kill the idea, which ends its life at least with you.
Consciousness isn't so much about "thinking" as it is deciding which lives to keep and which to kill. You're choosing which symbols to associate with. You're choosing which subconscious processes to follow.
That is perhaps the function of the thing we call free will. So in that sense, it's not so much that it is free will vs destiny, but it is this tiered concept of cognition. There are the "lives" existing within you, then there is the "god" who allows them to live or die.
This also frames the idea of destiny, which you might say is the assumption of a "life" within you existing forever. In other words, would it even be "your" destiny if parts of yourself could literally be created and destroyed? Perhaps we are like the ship of theseus in more ways than we realize. It's not even so much about destiny as it is the idea of object permanence or realism in the first place.
This description of symbols living within us is the concept of the noosphere, by the way. It's a "sphere" similar to a biosphere or ecosphere, which exists
on top of conscious beings. There is our body (the hardware), then there is "the spirit" or whatever you want to call the "immaterial" (technically electrons are material but very hard to measure in large structures) resting on top of it, and the collection of all of these immaterial beings exist in the noosphere.

2023.06.03 12:38 teensyghost Hardcore Run + General First Impressions: (i hate the scroll of death evasion !!!!!!)
I love the game so far. My first playthrough is hardcore which hasn't been quite as fun as I was hoping. I'm very nitpicky on the handful of things that really bug me about the game, but the game is otherwise so fun, 9/10, wonderful, I'm going to put 1000 hours in and get my moneys worth with this one.
Hardcore:
LOWER THE DROP RATE OF THE DEATH EVASION ELIXIR. PLEASE. PLEEEASSE. It's honestly belittling and annoying as hell to see 4 or 5 drop at a time in a single group or during an event while going through the game. Honest? You can't even make it until Scosglen, so why the hell did I learn it at level 2? Why do so many drop? It's in my face all the time that I'm playing hardcore, but am I really? Here's two different methods of avoiding it, there you go.
Art:
Flawless. Act 2 is so, so beautiful. The
bloodied wolf scene in tristram was my first real 'wow' moment in the beta and it still made me so happy in the real game. The
druid intertwined with the tree was a gorgeous sight, however, a small explanation of such a stunning set area would have been nice.
The blood vane, the crimson path? Breathtaking. I love the theme. I love the aesthetic of Lilith's corruption throughout the game. The environments are stunning.
Story:
First thing, In this game they do even worse with one thing than diablo 3 occassionally did; long dialogue where I'm standing around listening to long, dramatic voice acting. First? The dying soldier that
warns you of lilith in the beginning of the game? 'Vigo, metal does not harm her, spells do not affect her' (I'm paragraphasing, but that guy) Is so obnoxiously annoying. But, the actor did a great job! But you have to set it correctly. If you want dramatic moments like that, force me into a mini cutscene or let me continue on in someway. It breaks the pacing. Same thing happens all the time where I'll stop and think, 'Wow, they really could've thrown a mob in right here to give me something to do and not hyperfocus on the weird sounds this actor is making'. The in-game models are doing next to nothing, so it starts to feel like the voice actor talking in my ear, not a full character. It's very immersion breaking. When you
save Petr's son, I get the same feeling.
There are so, so many moments through the story where two people are talking and I couldn't give less of a fuck cause nothing is actually happening on my screen. Donan and Yorin when you first meet them? Bro I'm here and waiting. I'm just hearing voices, and they're usually unnecessarily dragging out their (dying breaths). No one gets that cool, long final words monologue until I care about them, like the>! tree-attaached druid.!< I didn't mind quite as much because the set was beautiful to look at, and>! I actually cared about his dog. Not him, but his dog!<.
Scenes like
Donan in the keep taking his time to drag the bodies into a neat row, or the mini cutscene where you first met
Neyrelle's mom and she attacks her actually work pretty well, and I just wish all of the dramatic voice acting could have mini cinematics like that or a few mobs for me to occupy myself. Let me follow
the dog around a pretty area to look at. Let the characters talk and chat in my ear about their thoughts or whats happening as I walk through the mining shafts in the first act. Either talk as you walk, make me cinematic, or give me something to kill.
Second thing, is the plot of the first act. I don't enjoy the incentives I'm given. I am here to kill demons, yes, and Diablo has always been a battle of good and evil, yes, but I am not slaying demons to be a saint I am doing it for fun and coin.
Why the hell am I signing up for a holy mission? When Lorath asks me 'What are you going to do about (your connection with Lilith)?' when you first meet him? I hated the response. 'Ah yes, I'm going to start a holy pilgrimage and dedicate a lot of blood and sweat into figuring out what she wants for the people, and then kill her and everything inbetween, including massive demons' just did not check out for me. I guess that's because we don't know anything about our characters, whereas in D3 we're said to be noteworthy adventurers seeking this kinda thing out, and in d2 we're repeatedly praised for our helpfulness as a random adventurer that doesn't need to be doing in this. But I really felt like killing all>! of the townsfolk that drugged us !
I was not sold in act one that Lilith was awful through my many playthroughs.
Her corruption of the initial town was cool and super aesthetic. They killed a priest together that was super mean to them! We dislike Inarius cause he's an asshole! I think Act 1 just feels really weird compared to act 2.
I'm here serving the church of light, basically. In act 2, we see direct consequences from Lilith's cruelty that I actually want to prevent, regularly. In act 1? Idk wtf Lilith even wants. Maybe she wants to hook up with Inarius again, idfk. Maybe she's vibing.
The conversation with Lorath didn't feel incentivizing, either. It was not until
we killed Neyrelle's mother that I really felt against Lilith as the villain, otherwise, I really wished for an option to just join her side instead, it sounded like more fun of an option. Tbh, I'd still prefer that.
Act 2 does a way better job of selling that she's an antagonist. I think there were a lot of missed opportunities to better explain the nuance going on in her
mind control/corruption throughout the entirety of the game, but, I'm hoping that it starts to feel cohesive in act 4. I wanted>! Airidah and Vhenard's logic during their corruption!< to be slightly sound in logic. I think this has been part of the fact that I still like Lilith, her words 'sin is their birthright' and the sentiment of 'freeing the people, cull the weak' obviously has horrible consequences, but has some logic there. I think they almost achieved a smarter theme of this through the game, but fell just short. You ask a lot of corrupted people 'Why?'
Airidah said 'My people have forgotten what it took to vanquish Astaroth. How are they going to fair against hell?' This... is so close, but not quite. I loved and ate up the lines where she
implied she was trying to help her people, worried that they had become too soft and needed this hardship to prepare and survive. But... it kinda fell apart as she talked. She started to feel like a wasted mind. I wanted her to say
'I see them preparing. Uniting with the knights they hate, even. You're even here for them. If they can't remember what it took to survive Astaroth, if they don't adapt and survive me, how will they ever fare against Lilith? I don't want to see my people destroyed.' Not that that's perfect, but,
if these people are corrupted to the levels of mind control where their sense is gone? I don't want my character to bother asking them why. Just let me put them down. Everytime someone asks anyone 'Why' in this game just feels like a waste.
Shop:
Not a huge fan of the microtransactions so far, even though I wasn't against the idea before seeing it in action.
I hate that the $20-30 sets also have a separate accessory set that's literally sold separately. I LIKE that my friend was able to purchase the raised by wolves accessory set that was much cheaper and now we match, I like that there are cheaper options, but I think that each set could've been a $18-25 version that included everything, then maybe a $5-10 mini version like 'Here's a cute weapon, a dog, and an emote' as it is. But include it in the big set! If you think about it, the pricing isn't $25 for their most expensive sets, but $35 which is sorta ridiculous. I saw this the most on the Druid heir of the sea set, like, why separate it? That's so stupid.
It just feels bad browsing the shop. I was even excited to make purchases if something caught my eye before I dug into it. I also hate having to buy entire, full sets when honestly I'm just upset at the lack of tattoo options and want those to put on other characters. I'm hoping that the battle pass has individual items in it I can unlock through it. I want to buy and find small cosmetic options. Especially since a lot of helmets in the shop you can almost find in game, just with a changed detail or two.
Character Creation/Shop pt 2.
I really, really hope in the future to see more makeup options, tattoos, hairstyles. Anything at all to make the character creation experience a liiiittle better since its pretty lackluster right now. I think being able to tweak my diablo characters is great, but my mind automatically wants way more options when given a character creator tool. I like writing and drawing so I have a few druid OCs which got me excited, but they visually just would never work as a diablo druid. My friend had a problem, too, of her rogue's likeness just... meh. Didn't quite hit.
I want more hairstyles. I'm glad to see I can buy tatttoos, but I probably won't just because I don't want to pay $25 for just the tattoos. I like the item sets., just not enough to pay for them. Maybe something cool will come out at some point, but, I was pretty underwhelmed. I think I maybe still have to see what endgame gear looks like. I was planning to buy at least one set, but, idk if I will.
Gameplay:
One complaint I keep hearing is 'So few skill slots'. Not that this makes sense we have as many as any other pc game other than a jrpg. I think the problem is actually that we're getting our ultimate abilities by level 30. We're unlocking the whole ability pool too fast and then going back to add in tweaks and buffs without actually getting new things between 30-50 while we wait for the paragon board. Overall, there's a slightly lacking sense of progression which honestly feels so tough on characters with slow, boring levelling like the druid.
Otherwise? Pretty good. I dig it. Please tweak the 1-50 damage numbers on druid so it isn't 'pulverize or nothing.' Especially levels 5-20, 25 holy god ew disgusting.
I think Rogue feels amazing, Sorc looks like it's going to be fun, Necro... is eh? I'm not having much fun and, another guy put it better, it does not feel like minions are your bread and butter. I enjoy the druid companions more than the necro ones. I'm most likely going to fully sacrifice them all if the bonus for doing so is better than keeping them. Druid feels so cool and so underwhelming. Like the rogue feels cool both in design and because you're actually killing shit. Druid feels so cool and nice, but has too high cooldowns, your damage sucks ass... it's eh. Barb? Doing barb things, having a good time. I really wanna play necro and druid, but, they just don't quite hit.
