Hello everyone, first time posting in this sub.
TLDR: Moved in with boyfriend who has a filthy apartment. Our standards are vastly different and it’s causing lots of tension.
I (33f) just relocated to Spain from the US to live with my partner (36m). We had met one year ago when I was on a trip in Spain and continued to chat and develop our long-distance relationship over the months. Finally, he offered to help me arrange my papers and we decided I would move in with him in Spain and apply for residency together. I feel committed to this relationship because I am beholden to him for immigration reasons but also because I love him and think we are very compatible and this will be a fun adventure. He’s a wonderful compassionate person and very doting.
However, there have been major stresses as we merge two households into one small apartment that served as his bachelor pad for the last five years. The place is filthy! Tons of black mold in the bathroom, sewage smell, odor from cat litter boxes as well as litter kicked all over the ground by the kitten who is still learning to conduct herself. The house is filled with cat hairs and dander and dust, which really aggravates my cat allergies that boyfriend knew about already. My bf was previously accustomed to smoking indoors, which left yellow smoke stains on the walls and on furniture. The towels reek of mildew, and the bed is horrible. The mattress and the frame are both super low quality (many apartments here come furnished so the landlord has no incentive to provide anything high-quality) and boyfriend has been sleeping on a back-destroyer without noticing presumably for years.
The decoré is horrendous. Imagine a frat house in terms of design sense. There’s a large framed photo of himself as a baby mounted on the wall right as you enter the house, next to a framed photo of a soccer player and another photo of a Spanish rapper. I’m like…. You understand this is insane right? Who has a framed photo of themself as a baby in their home? That’s so embarrassing. The rugs, pillows, everything is covered in dander and stained from cigarettes to the point that they all have to be replaced.
I found out that his mom has come over and done a deep clean on his apartment when he was out of town in February. She was so shocked by the state of his apartment when she came to feed his cats that she took matters into her own hands. My bf got defensive and apparently didn’t internalize any shame about his unacceptable apartment hygiene after that.
Well it has been about a month now that I am working on finding solutions to the mold, to the odors, the litter boxes, the smoke stains and so on. For me, a clean home is a HIGH priority. Because of my cat allergies I need his commitment to sweeping daily and keeping this place dander and dust-free. I’m making trips to the store daily to get more organization tools that this place needs to help us manage to fit two peoples’ stuff into one apartment. My boyfriend has been very helpful in addressing the mold by cleaning every weekend with special products to address the mold. He has stopped smoking indoors. He comes home and sweeps and takes care of the litter almost every day after work.
However, it’s clear that he resents the tasks that he has to do now. He resents being robbed of his filthy bachelor pad. But I told him, I absolutely am not a young bachelor and will not live like one. If you want a live-in girlfriend, you have to raise your standards because no woman finds this attractive or wants to live like this. In fact, it has made me really question what type of person can live in filth and what type of GROWN man lets their mother come over and deep clean. I would be so embarrassed.
As you can imagine, this has caused a LOT of stress in the beginnings of our new relationship. I really wish he had organized and cleaned the apartment before I arrived, but now I have spent all my time in the last month organizing his shit and trying to deal with the five years of filth he has allowed to accumulate here.
I don’t think I have ever been cruel to him but I have been direct that this situation is unacceptable and every day there’s more work to do to get this space into a tenable state. As time goes on, he is becoming more and more irritated that the house still isn’t “finished”. He comes home from work already in a grumpy mood and does the basic cleaning that is required and lends me a hand with whatever organization task needs to be done. But he clearly resents me for it.
Yesterday as he was sweeping the bedroom, he was slamming doors and making a bunch of noise which is very triggering for me. He came home and wanted to talk but I was too tired to have a conversation. He then started threatening to break up with me and move out.
What am I supposed to do in this situation? This grown ass man has invited me to live with him but it’s taking a serious amount of labor to make the apartment livable and our relationship is not on good terms now as a result.
I am exhausted because I require a place for my things (I still haven’t been able to fully unpack because of the mountains of clutter taking up valuable space in this apartment) and I require an adequate bed (that’s another long story unfortunately). He’s exhausted because he’s no longer able to live with the same low standards as before. He works full time and has a band and instead of being able to come home and unwind, he feels pressure to sweep in his only downtime instead of kick his feet up for a few minutes.
After the threats he made yesterday, I don’t know where to go from here. Does it come down to me vs the filth? How do we work this out?

Later, we shall take you for a city tour covering -Taj Mahal – a poem written in white marble, the most extravagant monument ever built for love, Red Fort – a visit to the fort in ‘Agra’ is a must since so many of the events which lead to the construction of the Taj took place here, Itmad-ud-Daula’s Tomb – The tomb is of particular interest since many of its design elephants overshadow the Taj. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: Agra to Jaipur

Early morning, drive to Jaipur. The city is 235 kilometers away from Agra and take 5 hours drive to reach. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri (Old Deserted town of Mughal Dynasty) and its monuments which include Jama Masjid, The Buland Darwaza, Palace of Jodha Bai, Birbal Bhawan & Panch Mahal. Arrive in Jaipur and check into the hotel. Later relax in the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 05: Jaipur

Today morning we shall take you for a tour to Amer Fort. Take joy ride on Elephant (presently Elephant Ride closed at Amber Fort for the time being). Afternoon enjoy city tour covering City Palace – occupies a large area divided into a series of courtyards, gardens & buildings and a perfect blend of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture, Royal Observatory – An observatory with some rare qualities to its credit, Nawab Sahab Ki Haveli, and the Bazaar etc. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 06: Jaipur to Goa

Fellow working-class pharmacists, you have heard already about the strange dream that I had last night. But I will come to the dream later. I have something else to say first.
I do not think, dear fellow working-class pharmacists, that I shall be with you for much time longer, and before I move on, I feel it my duty to pass on to you such wisdom as I have acquired. I have had a long career, I have had much time for thought as I work in countless community pharmacies, and I think I may say that I understand the nature of our career in this country as well as any pharmacist now working. It is about this that I wish to speak to you.
Now, fellow working-class pharmacists, what is the nature of this career of ours? Let us face it: our careers are arduous, thankless and miserable. After 5 years of studying and training, we become the lowest paid healthcare professionals in the country. We are given just so much salary as will pay our bills, and those of us who are capable of it are set to work under harsh conditions with minimal or even no breaks; and the very instant we demand for more, we realise the truth - there are always immigrants who have no choice but to accept worse conditions. No working-class pharmacists know the meaning of reward or appreciation after they have practised for a year. No working-class pharmacists are understood. The life of a working-class pharmacist is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth.
But is this simply part of the order of nature? Is it because this country of ours is so poor that it cannot afford a decent life to pharmacists who serve its people? No, pharmacists, a thousand times no! Our country is developed, its healthcare system recognises our role. It is capable of affording decent working conditions to all of us working-class pharmacists. Pharmacists are one of the most trustworthy professionals in the country. Its people need us for quality healthcare. Why then, do we continue in this miserable condition? Because nearly the whole of the produce of our labour is stolen from us by the body who represents solely the interests of pharmacy owners, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. There, fellow working-class pharmacists, is the answer to all our problems. It is summed up in five words, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia. It is the only real enemy we have. Remove it from the scene, and the root cause of poor working conditions is abolished for ever.
Pharmacy owners, and investor owners, particularly, are the only people that consume without producing. They hardly work in the pharmacy, and if they do, they do not practise with standards, they do not have up-to-date knowledge, they are too busy to check prescriptions thoroughly, they cannot even vaccinate. Yet they are the lord of all working-class pharmacists.
You pharmacists who can vaccinate, how many vaccinations have you done during the outbreak of COVID? And what about your pharmacy owner? While you bore the burden of this crisis, sacrificing your time, energy, and even personal well-being, they made record profits hiding in the safety of their offices.
And you pharmacists who are passionate about aged care and medication reviews, can you ever be hired by residential aged care facilities who do not profit from medicines? No, because the pharmacy guild of Australia have vehemently opposed the government’s idea of allowing you to be hired separately, insisting that pharmacists should only serve aged care facilities while being employed by a community pharmacy.
And you pharmacists who work tirelessly even on weekends, do you remember who advocated for the government to lower your minimum wage on Sundays and public holidays? The Pharmacy Guild of Australia. They pushed for reduced wages during weekends and public holidays, yet cry for everyone’s support, pretending to represent you, the hardworking pharmacists, when policies like 60-day dispensing, which may hurt their profits but benefit the public are put forward by the government.
And you, young and ambitious pharmacists who aspire to serve our people independently, why does owning a pharmacy require millions of dollars upfront? Why must you buy a pharmacy to own a pharmacy? Have you ever questioned why a pharmacy business, even if it is losing money, can still be valued at millions? Because the Pharmacy Guild of Australia has made sure that the laws protect their interests by imposing limitations on the number of pharmacies allowed in the country. They prevent newcomers and innovative pharmacists like you from entering the market, hindering progress and improvement within the industry, while boasting about buying pharmacies and flipping them like properties they are. None of any other developed nations, except Australia, is pressured by a group of pharmacy owners to limit their number of pharmacy in the country, allowing pharmacy owners to dictate their people’s access to medicines.
And you, pharmacists who have walked away from the industry because of the despicable conditions, no one will miss you, because the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, ever so relentless in its pursuits, has consistently advocated the government to bring in more immigrants to bear the same, if not more abysmal conditions. And do not forget our poor new graduates and interns, burdened by the weight of debt, devoted 5 years, that is, half a decade in becoming a pharmacist. Most of them will have no choice but to remain trapped in this state of servitude for at least another 5 years, silently contemplating a different career, all the while bound to the whims of pharmacy owners. And let us not forget the unpaid trainings and meetings they will be pressured into attending. Ex-pharmacists, your absence will hardly be noted, and so will your toil, sweat and blood.
And to you, the noble pharmacists, who strive to do what is right. Bear in mind that Medschecks will continue to be your Key Performance Indicator. You will still be questioned by your pharmacy owner about why you have not done 20 Medschecks per month and why each of them is not completed within five minutes or less. Your speed in dispensing medications will continue to be closely watched. Any time you spend with customers that does not translate into sales will still be met with disapproval. However, remember, any error you commit, any mistake you make under such pressure, will still rest solely on your shoulders. Soon, the task of prescribing will be added to your burden, all while the abysmal compensation remains unchanged. Your rewards? The same old trinkets - movie tickets, pizzas, trivial parties, and whatever else can be easily written off their taxes. They will offer you anything that carries a semblance of appreciation, yet costs them next to nothing.
And you, the sole pharmacists, always working alone by yourself in the pharmacy. Your ten-minute breaks will remain a mere illusion. You will continue to juggle phone calls, inquiries, retail-related problems, dispensing, checking, and dare we forget, vaccinations. If a customer becomes unhappy, an occurrence all too common in this line of work, it is your face they will remember, your name they will mutter in discontent. The owner? Absent as always. It is you who bears the brunt of it all.
In spite of everything, the pharmacy owners will always be the ones to represent you - on the news, in parliament, demanding more investment from the government, in the white coats they almost never wear. The catch? They will be lining their own pockets, all while using your name. The unsuspecting public, will remain unaware that these are not the faces they always see in their local pharmacies. They will not realise that these owners are far removed from the front lines, from the pharmacists who are the heart and soul of the profession.
Is it not crystal clear, then, fellow working-class pharmacists, that many of the challenges and hardships we face in our profession spring from the tyranny of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia? Only get rid of it, and the fruits of our labour would truely belong to us. Almost overnight we could become free and independent. What then must we do? We must dedicate ourselves tirelessly, day and night, body and soul, to overthrowing the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and their oppressive regulations imposed upon our country!
That is my message to you, fellow working-class pharmacists: Rebellion! I do not know when that rebellion will come, it might be in a week or in a hundred years, but I know, as surely as I see this ground beneath my feet, that sooner or later, justice will prevail. Keep your gaze fixed upon that vision, my fellow pharmacists, for the remaining time we have in this career. And above all, pass on this message of mine to those who come after you, so that future pharmacists shall carry on the struggle until it is victorious.
And now, my fellow pharmacists, I will tell you about my dream of last night. It was a dream of the country as it will be when the Pharmacy Guild of Australia has vanished.
In my dream, our profession had undergone a transformation, one as profound as it was liberating. The shackles of oppressive regulations had dissolved, and we stood, not as mere cogs in a machine dictated by the few, but as the heart of a healthcare system that truly valued our contributions. The dream of owning a pharmacy was no longer a mirage for the young and ambitious, attainable only by the privileged few. The market was open, and opportunities were abundant. The profession thrived, on the innovation and competition of pharmacists.
This is the world as it could be. It is a dream, yes, but as I have seen, dreams hold power. Dreams inspire change. And I ask you, fellow pharmacists, to believe in this vision. For it is only when we dare to dream, that a new era will begin in our industry. Let this dream guide us and let it remind us that a better future awaits. As surely as the dawn breaks after the darkest night, our moment of liberation will come.

One of my biggest problems is aversion.
For me, aversion feels like a mild form of disgust and some low-key anger. Maybe akin to when you have to go to the gym and you really, really don't want to - but 10x more intense.
Some days I wake up in a 'normal' mood and I am 'happy' to do anything - read, work, grocery shopping, talk with clients at work, clean the house, learn things.
However, when I wake up with an aversive mood which often lasts the entire day, I tend to dislike/feel disgust towards EVERYTHING - also for things that I'd normally like.
For example, I would feel aversion/disgust for the following. In fact, when I have those days there's usually not even a single thing that I'd truly enjoy doing:

1. Going to a coffee shop to work with my laptop (I feel aversion/disgust - It feel much harder to do it)
2. Cleaning my house
3. Even playing video games or watching movies
4. Talking with people
5. Taking showers - Skincare (I usually love skincare!)

I end up not wanting to do anything/everything feels much harder to do.
I'm trying to figure out why I feel like this and why I feel such a difference day by day. The activities themselves cannot be the problem because when I am in a normal mood I am very happy to engage with them - the same activities that I dread when I am in an aversive mood.
I'm a bit lost. I suppose the opposite of aversion is metta so I am going to try to practice it, but it is really, really hard when I feel like that.
Any ideas on how to deal with this?

Hey everybody. Last week I got a job in Uppsala starting in August. Problem is I do not live in Uppsala, nor in Sweden for that matter. I heard that the housing market is a bit messy and so contacts are really bad. Does anyone know a safe place to find a room? Any advice is welcome.

I have 2 versions of the depths/basement that reoccur.
I have the very common bunker type basement that usually "spawns" underneath the hotel/hospital. This basement is like some government bunker where they do bad things, i never knew exactly what it was. But in my dreams, im always breaking into this corridor and its so dark, a bit damp, and i know if i get caught im done for. It feels extra forbidden. The number 53 usually shows up on walls here and idk why, it may be random but its commonly when i wake up after i see this on the wall.
The second version of the basement usually spawns off the house on the hill or the mansion place. This is a terrifying basement filled with like, air conditioning tunnels with demons in them. It can also be a bit sewer like with ladders and tunnels the same way. Im usually with a group of other people and we try to traverse our way through it. Sometimes i am alone and i pop out the vent on the "other side" to somewhere else in the mansion like a secret backroom where things are going on.
