2023.03.25 02:24 Carsonslifeadvice I hate my life

Because I'm skinny people assume I'm shy even though I'm not and for the most part people don't respect my hobbies of playing sports (football, basketball, ultimate frisbee) watching sports, playing chess and listening to music. I've lived in numerous different cities and I've never had a good enough support circle. I'm the common denominator I'm often the only person siting alone in the schools dining hall. I play Ultimate Frisbee with some people and I'm EASILY the best player and it would be so easy for me to act like I'm above everyone else but I try to be as helpful and encouraging as possible. Despite that, I went to talk to someone I play with today and he literally put his earpods back in and went to look back on his phone while I was talking and said nothing to me. Pissed me off. Why can't I be like most people and find a 2-3 great friends from class, work, an extraciricular activity or a roommate from school?
I've never had many close friends and certainly never a girlfriend. I've never had sex. I've never been kissed. I've never held a women's hand.I've tried 687078493658 different bio/photo combinations on dating apps and I've had no luck at all and have even stepped outta my comfort zone and introduced myself to women in public settings numerous times but no luck. Another reason why I'm broken is bc countless time women smile at me or smile and look down right away (I've heard many place on the internet say this means they are attracted to you) but if I'm so attractive than why do I get ZERO matches on TindeBumble/Hinge/Match even with the 687078493658 different bio/photo combinations I've tried? Also, I know that women hate it when men think them being friendly means they are flirting with you. Whenever a girl goes out of her way to talk to me for ANY reason, I can't help but fantasize about being in a relationship.
I got into my dream school in 2017 and I was happy for like 6 months in a row bc of it. I had a 3.7 GPA in my four semesters at that school before transferring. I transferred bc out of state tuition was so high and I was so lonely. I have even less friends at my new college and my GPA dropped to 3.0. I have no motivation to do anything more than the bare minimum. What's the point of working super hard to MAYBE get money or a good job when you're lonely? Humans are social creatures. My professor last semester hated me for NO reason. There were like a dozen examples of this exact type of thing but I once asked her "Are we still having the exam next week?" and her response was " uh... yeah, why wouldn't we?" FIVE MINUTES LATER SOMEONE ELSE ASKED HER THE SAME EXACT QUESTION and she responded "Oh my god thank you for reminding me!"
My life also sucks bc I have chrons disease. My life also sucks because my older brother is a condescending dork who treats me like I'm five years old and we have nothing in common. Whenever there's any type of problem or argument in the family I'm ALWAYS the scapegoat.
"Oh everyone goes through these things" NO. 85% of men have at least one close friend I MAYBE have ONE. Most men my age have had sex by now and many have been in some sort of a relationship. I wake up, feel depressed, after a half hour or hour I finally stop procrastinating and do work. I'll go play Ultimate Frisbee and have fun for 2-3 hours just to fall asleep feeling miserable.

Hello Redditors! How are you tonight? Hopefully it’s your weekend and finally able to relax. If it’s not your weekend, then I’d love to hear what schedule you work. I can share thousands of my pet pictures. I love listening. Have a good day? Let’s hear about it. Was your day rough? Let’s see how to avoid that again and laugh about it. I have a good sense of humor. I will trade some bad jokes with you. I’m (fairly) well adjusted. I have a job. I have good friends. I have things I enjoy doing. I can be a mess some days but most days I am trying to get through this thing called life and make more connections along the way.

2023.03.25 01:33 Oofmadonnn Try this if you are struggling

Let me start by saying my life was a TOTAL MESS due to 20+ years of trauma at home and around family. Things are still tough, but in just the last 2 weeks I have made tremendous progress and I wanted to share my experience just in case it can help anyone else. For the first time in my life, I can finally feel some ACTUAL HOPE for my future and hopefully you can too.
I honestly can't believe how much better I feel now and the only thing I've changed/added is this. It is not for everyone but it is definitely worth a try in my opinion. It's free and does not require anything beyond a simple pen/pencil, paper, and a quiet space. It's a method called the daily practice. If you Google "crappy childhood fairy daily practice" it will come up. You should watch her videos to learn the ins and outs but in a nutshell, here is how it works
-When you wake up, get a pen and paper, and write down your fears and resentments. There's a specific format, you write "I have fear that..." and then whatever is on your mind. Or "I have resentment at x because I have fear that..." So for me an example might be "I have resentment at my neighbors because I have fear that they make too much noise." And you just keep writing for 5-10+ minutes, don't overthink it (hard I know, trust me), just whatever comes to mind. You can write as much or as little as you like, be gentle with yourself and do what you can handle.
-After writing, immediately take the paper and crumple it up and throw it in the trash. (Unless you have a friend/buddy you want to read it to, then save it for 1 day before discarding it after reading it to them. I choose to just throw it away and don't read mine to anyone else).
-Set a timer on your phone or some sort of alarm for 20 minutes away and find a quiet space. Close your eyes, relax as best you can (again, hard for people like us with possible PTSD, I get it!, do your best), and simply repeat a neutral word softly. The example used by Anna Runkle in her course is "this." So you just have your eyes closed, and you repeat "this...this...this...this" until the timer beeps and then you're done.
-Repeat steps 1-3 again around 5-6 hours later. So not right before bed, more like after dinner if you work the traditional 9-5 schedule. You ideally want to have a few hours before bed when you repeat it.
Stick with it for 1 week and honestly assess your progress.
I'm happy to explain further, or answer any questions but this has been a literal life changer for me. I've never felt this way in my entire life. I'm happy, and hopeful and productive now. I honestly did not believe that was possible 2 weeks ago, I was beyond rock bottom, barely could get out of bed, barely could shower or shave or do laundry or anything. My life isn't perfect by any means but now I have HOPE and I feel so much better!! I do still struggle with the basics here and there but it's like my brain is STARTING TO HEAL and I notice a huge difference. For just one specific example, 2 weeks ago I was struggling massively with binging on porn, it was a huge waste of time and just bad news. I hadn't been on any dates in 20+ years. And in the last 2 weeks I have already been on 1 date, it did not work out (we just didn't click) but guess what, instead of binging on porn and being sad/depressed/triggered like I normally would, I decided to reach out to someone else and asked them out and they also said yes! So now I have ANOTHER date lined up for next week. And if it works out, great. If not, I'll keep trying. Trust me, this is such a massive change in my mindset, I was stuck just watching porn with no possible escape until I added this daily practice. I would write down things like "I have fear that I binge on porn" or "I have fear that I use porn to escape" or whatever else, and then a few days later my urges just sort of went away! And I felt this new urge to actually meet real women. So I would really encourage anyone and everyone to give this a try for 1 week and see what happens for you.

2023.03.25 00:36 jalenp16 [Post Game Thread] (3) LSU defeats (2) Utah, 66-63

For the first time since 2008, the LSU Tigers will move on to the Elite 8 after a 66-63 victory over Utah. They will face 9th-seeded Miami in that round.
Imagine airballing a free throw down 1 in the closing seconds of an NCAA Tournament game (I was not surprised she missed her 2nd free throw).

Joseph loves the agricultural life, but he is the second son, and his father’s vineyard will be inherited by his brother Donat, the firstborn. He yearns for a job growing grapes and for an opportunity to marry Teresa Gallego. In Madrid, an assassination plot, conceived against the political leader of Spain by men of wealth and power, creates a storm of intrigue that sucks into its vortex a group of innocent young farm workers in Santa Eulália. How Josep’s life is changed drastically by these events, and how, ironically, they gradually turn him into an inspired vintner with an evolving vision of life, is the fascinating story of "The Winemaker". During the Book Club, enjoy four fantastic Spanish wines to taste. Chef Bryan will create a pairing board of house–made Spanish tapas, cheese and charcuterie to accompany the tasting. Reservations required. Link: http://www.nextthreedays.com/FeaturedEventDetails.cfm?E=685385

2023.03.24 23:34 rightsoherewego Friendly and approachable doctor - sharing my experience scheduling a bisalp for women in Ontario

Finally scheduled my bisalp and I'm so excited!
I’ve shared the details below for those interested, but also I’ve felt so supported that I wanted to add this doctor to the list of doctors in Ontario who are understanding and approachable. Anyone know how to do that?
I (late-20sF, Ontario) asked my family doctor to refer me to a gyno to "discuss birth control options" instead of for sterilization. Although my doctor is lovely, he also treats the rest of my family and we come from the same (misogynistic-y) cultural background so I didn't want to risk having to convince him of my desire, especially because he's made comments in the past about some of my prescriptions that we'd have to revisit them when I want to start a family. He's lovely but just a different generation so I didn't feel like upending his expectations.
I got the referral 3 months ago and I show up to the clinic yesterday and for some reason I didn't realize it would be a male doctor, so I was nervous about being mansplained to or something. The doctor was surprisingly super duper nice. He asked me what I wanted, lectured me (in a friendly way) about the privacy health act when I explained why the paperwork was wrong about what I was there for (lol).
He then listened without interrupting when I told him why I want a bisalp and told me he respects that I've done my research and that I've obviously thought a lot about this and that it's my body and my choice but he appreciates that I've discussed it with my partner beforehand, and boom! I'm scheduled for mid-May!! Should be healed up in time for my scheduled vacation :D
I didn't even have to use my cheat-sheet of why I have a right to choose this for myself, the rates of regret for women under 30 who get sterilized, etc. He interestingly noted that he would never suggest a tubal because Canadian gynecologists have come to the conclusion that tubals are just the worse choice: if you're going in there anyway, and the tubal removal means lower risk of ovarian cancer, his opinion was that it's malpractice essentially to push people to do a tubal. So that's nice!
I don't have anyone other than my partner to really share this with so I wanted to post here and encourage others to go for it if they've wanted it done but haven't had the courage to try. :)

2023.03.24 23:29 alpha_bionics Basketball News - He aims, in general, to avoid contact, to finish around defenders, under them with fancy flips, over them with high arcs, etc.

He aims, in general, to avoid contact, to finish around defenders, under them with fancy flips, over them with high arcs, etc. The Warriors, in a total flip of conventional basketball wisdom, aim to create their leverage uphill, with pindown picks for defense-lifting shooters, rather than downhill. Luka Doncic, Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, these guys do not avoid contact. At 4. 7 per game, the Warriors rank 19th in post-up rate, but at 59. 2% they rank first, by a mile, in pass frequency out of those posts. But back here, in reality, teams and players have, barring exceptions, been making their own luck with officials since basketball started. If the Warriors do, on occasion, fall victim to an unlucky whistle, they create that luck as well. Meanwhile, the night started off rough for the Bulls on Wednesday, and it ended that way, too. Sacramento's defeat came about despite a quality game from center Domantas Sabonis, who posted a triple-double on 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 dimes. Fact is, Curry's 6. 6% driving foul rate is very close to Donovan Mitchell's 7. 1%, and Mitchell is a far more physical driver. Do the math, and 9. 2 of Curry's 11. 3 3-point attempts per game, or 83%, are classified as either open or wide open. "She's a Steph Curry of women's college basketball, that's why," Smith said when asked what makes Clark unique during Friday's "First Take. "A similar finisher is Kyrie Irving, who, for reference, earns a foul call on 6. 6% of his drives. So, this is the deal, Warriors fans. Golden State initiates 36. 8 drives per game, per NBA. com tracking data, the second-fewest in the league. That said, Curry is a relatively frequent driver at 9. 0 per game, not too far south of LeBron James' 9. 9. Which is to say, to whatever extent the Warriors get an unlucky whistle, it's their own fault. Obviously, don’t want to make this thing worse. ”Huerter and the Kings are looking to even the season series against the Suns. However, don't fall victim to the idea that simply driving the ball entitles you to a certain amount of foul calls. If you're constantly driving, constantly selling contact in a convincing way, officials are human. Everything is a mechanism to create space for their shooters, not to draw fouls. Space. - Alpha AI

2023.03.24 23:15 AudreyCloud Diet change or start clomid?

I had an appointment with a new gynecologist today where I had initially planned on getting prescribed medication to induce ovulation. I've been on and off trying to conceive for about a year and with my cycles being so all over the place it's been difficult to even know when to try to conceive.
Anyways, he was very kind and listened to me well, but he cautioned against me using something like clomid as like with most medications there's a chance for side effects and a risk of multiple births. He has me scheduled for an updated vaginal ultrasound and did a blood test. He said that a lot of women with diet change and weight loss manage to ovulate on their own and while he will give me the medication if I request it he would prefer I try to change my diet and lose some weight before I do that.
I've struggled with my weight on and off for years and I know I haven't had a very good diet. I know it's something I need to address, but I'm not sure if I'm wanting to put off the medication. I understand what he's saying but the thought that the medication could potentially get me pregnant is really enticing to me. I guess I'm feeling impatient and like I'm just really wanting this to happen for me.
Do you think it's best if I focus on my diet atm or at this point should I start the medication?

There are a few LPGA players and courses, but if you create a female or trans player you're playing the PGA schedule with the males. Kinda breaks immersion for me. When will the women's league get the same treatment as the PGA? Come on EA.

The Cinderella run for the Miami women's team continues. The 9 seeded Hurricanes defeated the 4 seeded Villanova Wildcats in Greensville to advance to the first Elite 8 in program history. If they win their game on Sunday, they will tie the 1998 Arkansas Razorbacks for the lowest seed to ever reach the Final Four in the women's tournament.
Now only Miami and UConn have a chance to make the Final Four in both the men and women's tournaments
