--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's true.
The Ace Attorney fanbase is generally more analytically intelligent than most other visual novel fanbases, so it's very disappointing to see so many people lulled by AAI2's cheap parlor tricks while failing to grasp the beauty of AAI. Truly the biggest L for this subreddit.
Let's start with the overarching story: AAI is about an international smuggling ring, and AAI2 is about a man who tricks people into committing murder. That alone should dictate which game is better, but everyone seems to love Simon Keyes because of how random and unpredictable the twist was. I fail to see why the smuggling ring is so slept-on; perhaps it's too realistic or down-to-earth and the community would rather have a final villain plotting to steal the moon? But more on that later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AAI has the biggest cases of "Seinfield is unfunny" in the series, because AAI2 is an unofficial translation and thus more accessible to people. On the other hand, AAI is only available as a DS cartridge (rather expensive), the only game not available on the 3DS eshop or Steam. Of course most people played AAI2 before AAI. SO MANY things got ruined by AAI2. I honestly think this is one of the reasons AAI2 did not get a localization.
Let's see some of the highlights:
The Great Thief Yagatarasu - Hit the hardest by this. Kay Faraday parading around the fact that she is the Yagatarasu in AAI2 is vastly different from her doing the same in Kidnapped and Ablaze. In AAI, starting from the first case, the Yagatarasu is this mysterious thief that supposedly has a lot of intel on the smuggling ring and we only get to see his silhouette and calling card. And don't forget his theme, Yagatarasu - The Gentleman Thief, which really does set the mood and fit him perfectly during the fleeting moments it plays. Kay only pretended to be the thief in two cases. I think the scarcity of the Yagatarasu appearances is what really makes the reveal so intriguing.
Yeah, and the final reveal: be honest here. The twist of it being Byrne, Calisto and Badd would have hit much harder on everyone's first playthrough of AAI without knowing anything from AAI2. What really dampens the Yatagarasu is the fact that he is brought up too many times by Kay in AAI2 (and even just her soundtrack name). Also the fact that the Yagatarasu calling card is the inverted version of the smuggling ring leader's instruction cards, to send a message that the Yagatarasu was only a few steps behind the ringleader, was absolutely brilliant and a much better last-minute twist than anything else the series ever came up with.
Calisto Yew/Shih-na - She was with Lang for his first appearance, and every consecutive one. That's what made her reveal so impactful. After AAI2 came along, she was just another one-off character. To be honest, the twist that she was Calisto Yew was completely unexpected, although maybe I should have realized beforehand. I also think the way she is finally cornered is pretty awesome. Setting alight the coat to reveal the Bahbalese ink burning green, pretty symbolic of her smuggling acts finally brought to light.
Shi-Long Lang character development - I'm surprised how no one mentions this. It's on the same level as Sebastian's development, and I think the only reason it's so slept-on is because in AAI2, the cases are normally so dull that you have no other choice but to focus on the characters, while AAI Lang shares the stage with the rest of the plot. The way he goes from respectfully hating on prosecutors as a super serious officer to "Lang Zi says: ...just go already!" and supporting Edgeworth in his trial after the credits is super awesome. Him getting fired from Interpol is worse than Yuri Cosmos getting demoted after Turnabout For Tomorrow in terms of discomfort food. I feel like the way Lang is introduced in AAI2 really does discredit all his character development in AAI.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now let's compare all aspects of each game:
Case 1 (general): Visitor > Target. Visitor is the most underrated case in the series, and Target is a 3-hour long snooze-fest. Target is a case 1 yet fails to be an intro case and thus is not good, that's what it boils down to.
Case 1 (witnesses): Visitor == Target. Visitor brought back Maggey who is one of the blandest characters in the series, but Target's defendant wasn't any better. Target also managed to fumble de Killer's appearance into a very boring confrontation, so they are about tied.
Case 1 (culprit, single-case): Portsman > Knightley. The prosecutorial interactions were much more fun than that overconfident bodyguard.
Example --
Portsman: It's a possibility. Maybe your salary's been cut so much that life is getting a little too rough to handle...? Gumshoe: I'll have you know that I eat three square meals every day, pal! ...OK, so all three of them happen to be instant noodles, but... Portsman: Poor thing. What an evil prosecutor you were paired up with. And what a motive, no? Case 1 (culprit, whole game): Knightley > Portsman. Sure. The case 1 culprit can have a huge impact on the overarching story. Knightley was one of the better plotwise characters of AAI2.
Case 2 (general): Airlines > Imprisoned. Airlines just edges out Imprisoned slightly, but I admit Imprisoned is the only AAI2 case that deserves all the praise it gets. But I think the twists and turns were just a bit better for Airlines, especially the final Logic flashback segment as Lablanc slowly fell over the railing.
Case 2 (witnesses): Airlines > Imprisoned. Zinc Lablanc carries the entire case, like Luke Atmey did. Rhoda Teneiro was also cool. Jay Elbird and Frank Sahwit can't compare, and even Keyes' performance in this case, even knowing that he manipulated Knightley's death, doesn't quite reach Airlines' level of beautiful simplicity here. Dogen was just a plot device in this episode.
Case 2 (culprit, single-case): Meele == Roland. Both had godawful motives and mild characters.
Case 2 (culprit, whole game): Roland > Meele. Of course, because Roland got a whole other backstory while Meele stayed the same.
Case 3 (general): Inherited > Kidnapped. Yeah, alright. Who knew that letting you play as Gregory Edgeworth in the events leading up to DL-6 would be more interesting for the audience than actually coming up with an original idea? F for effort, I guess.
Case 3 (witnesses): Inherited > Kidnapped. Mainly because Ema Skye was absolutely useless in Kidnapped. Lauren Paups was also pretty bad. Inherited only had some meh witnesses, nothing outstanding, but still better than Kidnapped.
Case 3 (culprit, single-case): Gustavia > Lance. Well, yeah. Lance did kill only in self defense, while Gustavia and Dover had a whole storyline going. I feel like Kidnapped was meant to be a breath of fresh air from the constant murder grind, like Stolen. Too bad neither case ended up being great.
Case 3 (culprit, whole game): Lance > Gustavia. Well, not quite Lance himself, but the effect it had by prompting Ernest Amano to forge evidence, get caught and questioned, and give up the evidence to the KG-8 incident was pretty impactful. Gustavia, while the first of many things that ticked off Keyes, was also the only part of his story that wasn't really carefully intertwined with anything else.
Case 4 (general): Reminiscence == Forgotten. Interestingly, the one case everyone seems to like in AAI is actually not that great, all things considered. Forgotten was a very slow case with boring investigation sequences all around, but Reminiscence had terrible character interactions and was paced horribly.
Case 4 (witnesses): Reminiscence > Forgotten. Detective Badd blows everyone else out of the water. The Judge was alright, and Gumshoe was pretty subpar. But still, better than whatever AAI2 was trying to do with Lotta Hart and Nicole Swift.
Case 4 (culprit, single-case): Calisto == Blaise. I can't really say one was better than the other. Calisto's double murder and escape managed to top the previous 3-4 for "best loose end", but Blaise was no slouch either.
Case 4 (culprit, whole game): Calisto > Blaise. Doesn't need an explanation.
Now for the opinion that will get me downvoted. Turnabout Ablaze is a better case than The Grand Turnabout, both as a finale and in general.
Firstly, Colias Palaeno was a better final plot device character than John Marsh. Palaeno was introduced as this very suspicious character, only to later become the most helpful witness in the entire series, and the only person who didn't lie, ever. Despite overdoing his coupon-dealing gimmick, it never really got old or tedious. And come on, he was just a cool guy all around. His interactions with Alba were also very interesting considering the history between their countries. Palaeno is the perfect example of how to write a compelling plot device character.
On the other hand, John Marsh never really made an impact and his edgy teenager persona was just meh. Him refusing to take revenge on Dogen in the end was cool, but he was still not as good a character overall. His kidnapping was mainly to develop Courtney's character, but even she was not that interesting in the end. And his twist of being the president's son was very underwhelming, if I'm being honest.
Every case 5 is traditionally the resolution of two different murders. For AAI, it was Ka-Shi Nou murdered in the Allebahstian embassy, and Manny Coachen murdered in the Bahbalese embassy on the same night. For AAI2, it was the body double's murder out of the blue and the real president's murder 12 years ago. Surely Ablaze has a much better premise already.
Ablaze is a very symmetrical, well-organized case with the themes of duality. Allebahst has strict migration laws and an old army general as the ambassador, who appears to be a kindly old man. Bahbal is a very lax tourist country with a young advertising ambassador who is suspiciously cheerful. And yet, Ambassador Alba is the villain behind the smuggling ring while Ambassador Palaeno is hopelessly clueless about his secretary Coachen. I really like the dynamic amongst the characters here. Even Coachen gets characterization from Palaeno's relationship with him and sadness at his death.
Honestly, I thought the premise of the country split in two was a very intriguing setup. Even for people who aren't super interested in history-esque topics, the case should provide a novel setting. The competition to see which embassy had the legitimate statue, the goodwill ambassadorship involving the Steel Samurai, the reuniting of Cohdopia, everything really felt like something big and exciting was happening.
How many people actually played Ablaze fully? I bet half the people who hate on Turnabout Ablaze here don't even know that the embassy was set on fire in the case. They only watched Alba's breakdown, went on the wiki to find out the two victims, and called it a day before formulating their opinion. They missed out on everything, like the safe-opening puzzle and the secret of the Yagatasaru key/"knife", and figuring out how the two statues and the body got transported between the embassies.
Unlike Ablaze's very uniform and straightforward setup, The Grand Turnabout is just a speed-rap of a case with very sporadic events that feel like it's just thrown at you randomly so you never get bored of one single topic. So right after exposing Blaise as the killer, you find the president of Zheng Fa is murdered. You go to question someone, but she is currently judging Roland's trial for the murder of Knightley. Then Blaise turns out to not get in any trouble for what happened in Forgotten. Then Marsh gets kidnapped and you decide to join the trial and help Sebastian. He then runs away and you stall for time until Marsh is found and Sebastian comes back and proves that Blaise tampered with evidence. So he gets arrested after all and Roland is guilty. Then you get a mysterious radio call telling you to go to an orphanage, where you find out that the real president (along with some other guy) was killed there 12 years ago. With a very tedious Little Thief investigation sequence. Now you trace back who called you on the radio and pin every single crime in the game onto him. And Dogen helped, a bit. The end.
There were zero compelling aspects of the case. It feels like the case was entirely written to showcase character development for half the cast, and the actual plot points are half-assed and not bothered with. The final reveal is just a cheap cop-out by going "oh actually A and B are connected. Wow!". I feel like The Grand Turnabout is actually the worst-written case of AAI2 in terms of sheer writing. Every event is random until the final reveal. The way the events proceed is also very weird and feels very unpolished. The investigation drags on way longer than Alba's confrontation does. No way people like this mess of a case more than Ablaze just because it has more rewarding/overstimulating moments at times and uses shock value.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's funny that AAI has the overarching plot be straightforward and each individual case have its twists and turns, while AAI2 is the exact opposite. Each case basically feels like the game just leads you along a long, drawn-out and boring path to the answer while the actual overarching plot is this convoluted, improbable steaming mess of a story.
I really don't think Keyes was all that special. Sure, there were minute hints scattered throughout the game before he is revealed to be the mastermind. Sure, he had a compelling motive. But in the end, it all boils down to "oh remember all that? well, the major twist is that they are connected!". Just a weak cop-out finale that manages to be flashy enough to woo half the audience. But what I really dislike about Keyes is the way he was caught. I personally think that final villains should try to not get caught. Keyes was so cocky that he was toying with Edgeworth on purpose. Kidnapping Kay and John, teasing Edgeworth over the radio, he basically flew too close to the sun and paid the price. Alba, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with Edgeworth or the rest of the cast.
I think half of what makes a compelling villain is how they try to avoid being caught. Alba managed to stay low and avoid detection for 10 years, while still running the smuggling ring. His confrontations felt very calm and collected, and just overall very professional at maintaining his innocence. Unlike Keyes who just keeps laughing at you and mocking you. Sure, both characters had high egos, but bottom line: Keyes got too cocky from a few successful manipulations while Alba maintained his confidence in his position which he has decades of experience in.
Yes, Alba was very stubborn and makes the final fight drag on, but that should be a good thing for his character. Shows he is very experienced and well-prepared for law enforcement. Honestly, my one complaint is that his fight didn't drag on even longer; I think that him losing his ambassadorship was a bit too easy and he should have put up more of a fight regarding that. People say Alba was too generically evil, but I think that he is actually unique in the way that he is the first pure
villain as afinal villain. Remember, von Karma and Gant were not full-time criminals; they were law enforcement who killed once and then were caught trying to cover up their crime. Engarde was an actor who only cared about publicity. Godot was, well, not exactly a criminal. Gavin was a lawyer who did anything to win his case and held grudges. Up until then, we never had a professional criminal as a final villain until Alba. Taking someone like him down should be expected to be difficult, long and tedious. Also his breakdown was much more rewarding than Keyes' getting beat up by animals, mostly because Keyes kinda deserved more than that. If Keyes had been punished harder, his breakdown might have been more satisfying than Alba's, to be fair.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AAI also has a better soundtrack than AAI2, and you can fight me on that. AAI2 may have some earwormy tracks, but it's like this: AAIs soundtrack actually sounds like it was composed for the game. Tracks like the Yagatarasu's theme (not Kay, the actual Yagatarasu) and Torn Apart Countries fit the mood and set the grandiose atmosphere perfectly. AAI2s soundtrack is just the artist taking a picture of the character, showing it to a composer, and going "make a theme for him". The Man Who Masterminds the Game may be more catchy than The Enemy Who Surpasses the Law, but the latter definitely suits its respective character and confrontation as a whole more. And I just gotta appreciate a fitting theme more than an earwormy one.
Honestly, Objection 2009 was better than Objection 2011 just because it felt so much more satisfying in a calm, procedural manner, like "Okay, so we figured this out. Make a mental note of this for later". Objection 2011 is a TV-show opening for Edgeworth. It might be very catchy, but I honestly think it doesn't fit a single moment in which it is played and is just an overstimulation.
Also I will get ostracized for saying this, but Lying Coldly was a perfect take on how a pursuit theme for Edgeworth would sound, that Wanting to Find the Truth completely ruined in favor of sounding more like a generic pursuit theme. It may be a good song, but it has none of the charm that Lying Coldly had.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AAI2s translation team, to be honest, did a pretty bad job. (Preface: yes I know criticism like this is mean and uncalled for but since AAI2 isn't even their game, I think it is fair to criticize their take on it after they imposed themselves onto Capcom's game.)
Let's start with the voicelines. Sebastian Debeste's voice actor was the only one who did a good job. Everyone else's voices were way too "high-quality sound" to fit AAs theme. Like, especially ProZDs take on Gregory Edgeworth, who sounds like a 20 year old with a smoking problem and a
mouth that's 2cm in diameter. It especially contrasts von Karma's voice in Inherited and is clearly out of place. Sorry, but ProZD was an absolute garbage casting choice for Gregory. I don't care what you say, Courtney is not British. Knightley and Shields' voices are just too realistic and not AA sounding. Keyes and Blaise are the only other objections that almost fit the bill, almost.
Again, though, massive props to Sebastian's voice actor. He absolutely nailed his voiceclip.
On a related note, I think Alba and Calisto's objections are actually not bad because remember, they are (Alba definitely, Calisto I assume so since she works for him) foreigners who originate from Cohdopia. It makes sense for them to have an accent when speaking English, and with only one word to go off of, their accent sounds exactly like one would expect. It's surprising how most people can't make that basic connection and instead go straight to mindless hating. Ace Attorney's fanbase is supposed to be smarter than that.
Okay now back to the translation team, the overall dialogue for AAI2 feels much more dry. It's not as easy as you'd expect to capture the tones of each character during the translation, and the translation team kind of failed at that. The dialogue for the returning characters, especially Gumshoe and Kay, feel much more uniform and really lack the charm that AAIs official translation had. Try playing AAI and AAI2 in alternating cases side-by-side and the difference becomes clear as day.
Not just the dialogue in general, but also the quips and banter during the investigation sequences between main characters. Especially that one time in Inherited in which young Shields quotes Godot's "blacker than a moonless night" soliloque, for Gregory to think to himself "note: coffee has a bad effect on lawyers". If you really think about it, this took place before T&T and there is no way Godot would just quote Shields, so it's a really weird continuity plothole that both people say the same thing, like a 4th wall break. It's supposed to be a joke, but come on. Capcom wouldn't actually do something so unprofessional like that, and the translation team really had to make that weird joke a permanent part of Capcom's game. It's an official game so it's supposed to be more professional than using 4th wall breaks like that. This may seem nitpicky, but again - official Capcom game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, people can like whatever they like. You may prefer a culprit that is over-the-top crazy more than a down-to-Earth one. You can like an unpredictable, convoluted overarching story more than a well-written one. But objectively, from a critical, unbiased point of view, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is a much better-written, higher quality work than Gyakuten Kenji 2. No amount of rose-colored glasses can change that, sorry.

2023.06.06 05:09 MadeBale Any tips to help with penile tissue damage?
A couple days ago I injured my penis with a condom that was too tight. I'm hoping that it's only tissue damage. Im hoping someone can help me do the right things to aid in minimizing damage.
First day it was a little swollen. I put some ice on it. I also took a warm bath, and I've been exercising.
I haven't been able to get aroused at all the last couple days. Today I figured it might help if I arouse myself a little bit (without touching) just to get some extra blood flowing down there. It didn't work very well. I was only able to get a bit hard, but it was very narrow in the middle of my penis. It was unusual and a tiny amount painful, so I backed off immediately
I'm really hoping that there's some biological intelligence going on that's killing my libido to prevent further damage from being done. I'm hoping that this will heal and let me get back to full mast at some point here. I don't care if it takes months. I just want my penis back.
Anyone have any advice? Is it beneficial to try to send blood down there with no intention of masterbating at all? Or might that do more harm than good? It might be best just to let my body do its own healing and not try to interfere at all.

2023.06.06 05:05 Telemachusfar The Human Security Officer, Part 6
Slightly longer one here, I think I like them this length. Anyway, as always, thanks for reading! :)
---
“I am unsure Miss,” Ton'et's central body turned somewhat and look of deep thought came over them, “wait… we’ve established that these three are not party with these Tinsne. They are wearing habsuits and have died more recently. At this time we have two questions. One, Where did these three come from? And two, What was that disturbance?” They looked at Penelope.
“…I’m not sure I’m following.”
“I’m suggesting that these two questions may have the same answer. The sound and jostling correspond with an airlock alignment and clamping sequence. I believe we have been just boarded by whoever sent these three here.”
“… Shit.”
“An apt Terran expletive.”
Ton’et noticed the human’s eyes tarry on the weapons crates but was surprised when she instead stood and moved to the doorway.
“Can’t do anything from here. Follow behind me and we`ll see what we’re dealing with. If something happens just hide and stay down.” Penelope let out a hollow chuckle.
“An expression of amusement? Why?” Ton’et asked as they moved to the airlock.
“Well, you wanted firsthand data on human biology, right? It looks like you’re gonna get it.” she said, moving to the door.
“I see… not quite what I had in mind Miss…”
Penelope gave Ton’et a wry smile as she waited for them to take a position behind the lip of the door. Pressing the button, the doors slid opened quickly but no one waited for them in the airlock itself and the doors to the Blue Nebula wouldn’t unlock until the outer door was closed. As such, the two moved in and again took up positions. Penelope at the door and Ton’et behind cover.
This time Penelope waited. Moving the side of her head up against the door and pausing for a moment. She then repeated the odd action lower on the door.
“What are you doing Miss Penelope?” Ton’et asked.
Penelope tapped the fleshy protrusions on her head, “Listening. There’s something mechanical on the other side of the door.”
“How can you… questions for later. It’s most likely a frame. There’s nowhere near enough folks turning to piracy to fill a crew so its not uncommon to see them using mechanical assistants.”
“Great…”
Really? Robots? A focus came over the human as she motioned for Ton’et to stay down. It almost scared them how her face changed expression. There was no smile anymore, and the eyes took on a deadly seriousness. They shuddered to think of themselves on the receiving end of this aura.
Having noted her companion’s hidden position Penelope took a deep breath and opened the door.
In an instant, it slid open and her target was in front of her. A machine about half her height with three leg-like appendages supporting a round body and atop that a cylindrical shaped head. A lens was looking down the hall to the cargo bay before it quickly refocused on the large creature surging forward from the airlock. A small laser weapon deployed from body but it had no time to fire as Penelope’s left hand gripped its head, lifted it into the air, and slammed it into the opposite wall.
Penelope had apparently used enough force to crush the thing’s head entirely as its body detached and fell to the floor. The shattered head only remained due to Penelope’s grip.
Oh… well then, that was… “Huh… I honestly thought that it would be a bit more durable.” She said as she looked at the crushed cylinder in her hand and then let it drop to the ground.
After a brief moment of shock Ton’et produced their datapad and began taking notes. Penelope noted that the rest of the corridor was clear and began making her way to the bridge.
“Bridge first, hopefully we can get a good idea of what we’re up against… and where everyone is.”
Ton’et made a gesture mimicking a nod and followed at a distance.
Reaching the turn in the corridor, Penelope peeked around the corner and saw that the bridge doors were wide open. It wasn’t a great angle, but she could see one frame of similar design past the open doors. Holding out a hand she motioned for Ton’et to stay put.
Ton’et was again surprised and made note of the near silence with which Penelope dropped low to the ground and made her way to the open bridge door. What was one frame from the angle of the corner revealed itself to be two frames and an alien in a familiar style habsuit.
Penelope was used to perfectly controlling her movements in regular gravity and with the ship operating on half that norm it was almost nothing to move with speed and silence. She moved past the first frame she’d seen which was evaluating the security console. Making sure not to alert that frame she moved up behind the alien and the frame it stood next to. They were apparently attempting to slice the console attached to Captain Deag’s chair. This task seemingly so engrossing that neither noticed Penelope taking a position directly behind them.
In a flash of motion she grabbed the alien by its habsuit with her left hand and the frame by its head with her right. In one fell motion she crushed the frame and whipped its body across the bridge into the second frame destroying them both. She turned the aliens face towards the pile of frame parts and then back to her.
“Call for help and I promise you, that habsuit wont even slow me down. Understand?” she said with a deathly growl, staring into its eye.
It began to shake in the suit and uttered a single wilting, “…yes.”
“Good. Now, you’re gonna answer some questions for me.”
Ton’et barely watched where they were walking as they moved onto the bridge. Tapping away at the data pad and muttering to themselves.
“Inquire about limits of superb strength. Inquire about ability to move silently despite size. Inquire about ability to launch objects at speed and with accuracy.” They continued as they moved into a corner and sat down.
The alien in Penelope’s grip noticed Ton’et but did nothing but shake in fear and wait for the questions.
“First. How many of you are there?” Her tone was cool and controlled.
“Five total now, thing on other ship got Mol, Vardin, and Eiggia. More frames. Me here, three others should be in cargo bay with your people, frames too. One left on our ship. Please don’t kill me.”
“Cooperate and I won’t harm a hair on your…” she noticed it was seemingly hairless, “Look, talk and you’ll be fine. Deal?”
It made a gesture that Penelope assumed was equivalent to a nod.
“Excellent. How many frames? And is everyone using energy weapons?”
“Ehrm, seven frames and…” It seemed to be confused about the second question, “energy weapons… yes? I am the only one not armed.”
“Last question. You have a means of communicating with your friends?”
The alien’s eye tarried to a belt on its suit. Hooked on it was a small round device.
“This?” Penelope grabbed the thing and held it up.
“Yes. Touch screen, speak.” It offered.
“No need.” She responded as she crushed it in her grip and let the pieces fall to the ground.
The alien made a kind of buzzing noise as it looked down at the crushed commlink.
“Now,” Penelope continued as she moved to a corner of the bridge, “you’re going to sit in this corner and do absolutely nothing because you know that if you try anything there is nowhere you can run that I cannot get to you, yes?”
It enthusiastically made its equivalent of a nod once again. Satisfied, Penelope set them down and turned to her security console. She readjusted its height to suit her and pulled up the corridor cameras and the cargo bay camera. What the little alien had said was true. The corridors were clear. There were three individuals with laser rifles and four more frames in the cargo bay. They’d gathered the crew back by the large bay door and were looking over the cargo.
“Ton’et, stay here and keep an eye on this one…,” she evaluated the situation, “and come over here. I think I have an idea you’ll like.
“Of course Ma’am.”
After explaining her little plan Penelope left Ton’et with the alien who, true to their word, made absolutely no movements save a little shaking. She made her way down the other corridor from the one they’d come through and overrode the locking mechanism on its airlock, ensuring no one would be joining the party… or leaving too early. Next, she went not to the door that led to the cargo bay but the engine room and its many maintenance tunnels.
---
Gareth had just met up with Deag and had begun to explain the situation when the pirate ship sent a warning signal and began boarding them. Docked as they were, there wasn’t much to be done to stop the vessel. They were quickly corralled together with the rest of the crew at the back of the cargo bay.
“Now I’m not sure if this is your first time but we’re not barbarians. Well take what we want, and you’ll be on your way. No harm done. Simple as that.” The leader explained to them. He was a sort of bright yellow and red insectoid, though it was hard to tell under the habsuit. He was just a hair taller than Gareth and sported bug-like wings from his back that the suit accounted for.
Gareth wanted nothing more than to yell, “I told you so!” but he would never admonish the captain in front of the crew. Besides, he had more pressing matters to think about. Like how to handle the fact that Penelope was currently on board the derelict ship seemingly with no idea they’d been boarded by pirates. He wasn’t sure what to do and couldn’t exactly discuss it with the captain lest their captors hear them. The captain was no doubt in the same position as he looked to Gareth. Unfortunately, neither of them were telepathic.
He could attempt to scare the pirates by telling them about Penelope but then they might be able to disengage the airlock and trap her and Ton’et on the other ship. That would not do at all, and they’d probably think he was just bluffing until they sliced the ships’ computers and saw proof of her identity. That said he was fairly sure that none of these pirates were fond of violence. Most just used the threat of it to get valuables and leave. It was mostly a calm affair compared to what he knew of ancient human piracy. He decided the best thing to do was just talk but not mention Penelope. He was good at talking and a better sense of these pirates would serve well.
“So, what happened exactly. I’m curious. We found three wearing similar habsuits to yours on that ship.”
“A question for a question. I answer that one and then ask one of my own. Fair?” the leader’s wings buzzed.
Gareth looked to Deag who just nodded, “Fine.”
“We found that ship not long before you, knew it was just us in the system so we checked it out. Sent the three over and then… nothing. Dead coms, life signs gone. Weren’t about to just give up on it and it presented us with an opportunity. We wait for another to check it out and either they go the same way as ours did in there and we loot their ship, or they figure out whatever happened for us and we take everything.”
“Ahh, so a trap. Just not one set by you.”
“I suppose. But now my question. You are alive so you managed to survive whatever was on the ship. What was it? What killed my people?”
Before he could respond, though, a familiar voice came over the ship’s intercom.
Ton’et!? “Hello pirates. This is… um well I suppose my name doesn’t really matter… well I’m here to give you a threat? Message? Kind of a request too to be honest. All three, yes… Anyway. Put down your weapons and surrender to the captain. That would be Captain Deag… The Corvul… oh gosh I’m really no good at this. Uhm, just surrender or else you’ll regret it cause our security officer Penelope is going to… do something that I’m of course not going to reveal to you. But its… bad, so you should really surrender. Ton’et out.” The intercom cut out abruptly.
“…What?” The pirate leader looked more confused than anything.
“They’re a scientist, not an orator. But you really should consider surrender because if Ton’et is on the bridge then Penelope must already be on her way here. You see what we found was an anti-personnel turret. A human weapons platform. We were able to deactivate it thanks to our new security officer. A human who, if I had to guess, is about to burst through one of those doors.”
The pirate leader wheeled around and aimed his rifle at one of the doors.
“Cover the doors!” he yelled.
The other two aliens and the four frames took aim at the two points of entry. The high pitched whine of charging laser weapons sounded from all of them.
“Keep aim. We know where its coming from and no personal shield could hold up under all our fire.”
They held but nothing happened. Gareth broke the silence.
“You know captain. There’s another human phrase I think you’d like. I think even a human would call you bat shit crazy sometimes. You know you really should look up some of those terms. Having Penelope hanging around.”
“I suppose I should?” Deag responded with a quizzical look.
“Silence you two!” the pirate said without averting his gaze from the doors.
“You really aught to LOOK them UP captain…” he repeated emphasizing the two words.
The captain suddenly understood what Gareth was trying to tell him and, as covertly as possible, glanced up to the ceiling of the cargo bay. Immediately his eyes shot back down as he witnessed perhaps the most terrifying sight of his life.
Even in the greys of his vision he could see, hanging from the crane attached to the tall ceiling of the cargo bay, their security officer. Penelope had apparently accessed one of the maintenance tunnels that Thwilll most often used and followed it to a hatch that let out in the ceiling. She had then, silently, swung her way across the support structure to the crane system that was used to move especially heavy cargo. Now, she hung from it with one arm as she gazed down at the unsuspecting pirates. All of whom were still solely focused on the doors.
“So that’s a no to the surrender?” Deag asked.
“Silence!” the bug yelled.
The final part of Penelope’s plan became apparent when everyone in the cargo bay was suddenly forced down into the floor. The bay’s gravity had just been jacked up to its maximum.
“AGH!” one of the pirates yelled as they were completely pinned to the ground.
A similar sound came from many as they all struggled against the force. The leader and the other alien managed to stay vertical but were clearly struggling to move. Even the frames struggled somewhat, clearly not built by a species that worked under such gravity.
Deag looked up with disbelief to see Penelope seemingly unaffected, still holding on to the crane with a single hand. She evaluated the situation for only a moment before simply letting go. Her massive form careened downward, taken quickly by gravity.
SLAM!
The resounding sound came as she landed on the floor. Her legs bent as they absorbed the impact. Rising to her full height she moved with incredible speed. Her hands shot out and grasped the two frames she’d landed between. With a twist of her torso and extension of her arms, she threw them into opposite walls. Still working off the shock, Penelope managed to surge forward and crush another frame under her foot. Its shell shattered as she put her full weight atop it.
Finally, the shock seemed to wear off and the pirates began to react. They moved sluggishly, though, their rifles more than doubling in weight. The leader attempted to take flight, but his wings did little more than buzz incessantly, not even lifting him from the ground. Penelope, however, moved with ease. Gareth could almost see relief in her eyes as she enjoyed the time under earth-like gravity. She dispatched the final frame without much of a show, simply reaching down and crushing its cylindrical head in her hand.
The leader gave up trying to take flight and the only other pirate not pinned to the ground managed to levy their rifle at Penelope who made no attempt to avoid it or take cover. The hot beam shot out and struck her center mass. Elation and then terror came over them as they celebrated striking the human only to see the sustained beam was having little effect. Penelope held its gaze as she calmly waltzed forward, ripped the rifle from the aliens’ hand, and snapped it in half over her knee. Tossing the two pieces to the ground she just palmed the alien’s face and sent them to join their broken toy.
With that she turned to the leader to see something that changed her demeanor entirely. The leader had aimed his rifle, but not at her. Instead, the emitter was pointed at Captain Deag. A storm came over her face.
“Stop, or he dies…” the leader warned.
“Now, now. We were playing by a certain set of rules, and I was happy to do so. You left them out of it, and I didn’t kill any of you. That was fine by me. But you’re about to change those rules,” her hand slowly lowered to the pistol that had remained unused at her side, “and I will play by them.”
“You’d risk his life to take mine?” the bug asked.
“Nope. Charge time on those rifles seems to be just over a second. That plus your piss poor reaction time and I’m fairly certain I could get off two, maybe three, shots before you fire. That’s one to disarm you, one to put you down, and one more just to be sure.”
The bug found only cold certainty in Penelope’s eyes as he tried to discern whether she was lying or not. He struggled to keep the weapon steady.
The rest of the bay was silent.
“You’re bluffing.” He said but wilted under her intense gaze.
“The question isn’t whether or not I’m bluffing. The real question is whether or not you’re willing to bet your life on that gamble. I wouldn’t.”
He felt so small under her gaze. His instincts screamed at him that this was no creature to trifle with. Those eyes burned into him and yet he felt nothing but a freezing sensation in his gut.
Don’t do it. The rifle dropped to the ground with a thud.
Good choice. ---

I have armpit hyperhidrosis, and sweat odor that goes hand in hand with my social anxiety. I can be full body sweating from exercise with people I’m comfortable with and have no odor, but if I’m in a socially anxious situation that’s where I’ll smell more. I’ve been doing iontophoresis treatments for the sweat amount, but I’m looking for advice in terms of natural deodorant (as I want to stay away from any aluminum).
I’ve been using apple cider vinegar as a direct deodorant on my skin, but that hasn’t completely taken the smell away. I’ve heard a lot about salicylic acid, and glycolic acid. Are those bettestronger options than ACV?

2023.06.06 04:51 marshiebot Please help me understand cheat days
Hi everyone,
I am wanting to lose body fat and watching what I eat. My goal is 1500 calories per day. I am a 5’7 female, 180 pounds. I work out lightly, I recently joined orange theory where, according to my tracker, I am burning 400 calories per work out.
The thing I don’t understand conceptually is how one cheat day can ruin an entires week worth of deficit. And also, how can I calculate how many calories I should aim when I have my cheat meal? I would like to add that I don’t think of them as cheat day but rather as a cheat meal, and still eat responsibly the rest of the day.
It also might be worth noting that I don’t eat that much in a day. I usually only have 2 meals per day, and I don’t snack in between. I can stay full for a long period of time.
Thanks in advance!

2023.06.06 04:51 Oprost The Mask
I'll never forget the first time the mask slipped. You did something to hurt me in a horrendous manner. And even though this letter is to you I will not write out what you did as I'm sure you know exactly what I'm referring to. You killed a part of me that day for good. The mask slipped and I saw you for who you really are. Yet still I loved you.
I remember the first time you made me feel like my problems didn't matter. "Suffer through it" was the best you could give me. I saw the mask slip again, seeing the monster behind it once again. Yet still I loved you.
I'll never forget the day you viciously bodyshamed me for no reason other than a small, innocent misunderstanding that bruised your massive ego. I was shocked and hurt. Given your previous pain and struggles from body image issues and your full awareness of my own I wasn't expecting something like this from you ever. The mask slipped a bit more, and I saw the monster a bit more clearly now. Yet still I loved you.
The night I asked you for some time alone after you'd been rude to me I told you I'd rejoin you in bed when I had some time to feel better. I had given you the same courtesy hundreds of times prior so it wasn't an outrageous request. Yet in your rage you punched holes in the walls and left the house. The mask slipped again. I didn't want us to fight or argue despite your unproportional reaction to the situation so I hugged you when you came back. I was seeing the monster more and more. Yet still I loved you.
When you started to treat me in a more and more disrespectful, abusive manner, dismissing any concerns or attempts to communicate how you were making me feel I began to emotionally prepare myself to leave. I knew this wasn't healthy. The week I was going to do it you were diagnosed with cancer, I didn't want you to struggle through this alone or immediately after a breakup. You'd been cruel for months prior, the mask took longer and longer to be put back on. Yet still I loved you.
As I helped you get through your battle, doing everything I could to support you and be there for you the mask didn't slip much, if it did it was put on so quickly I don't think I really noticed. I was beginning to doubt my own memory, was there ever a monster? Yet as your health came back and you cheated on me months after finally becoming healthy again the mask fell off entirely. I saw the monster, as your tears flowed and your web of lies was exposed after I let you dig yourself into a hole you couldn't get out of, the mask didn't come on. The monster was there, and no apologies followed. Despite the pain I thought of the mask, and how it hadn't slipped for so long. The monster was there staring at me. Yet still I loved you.
As you slowly ramped up your abusive behaviour towards me and began to break me down until there was nothing left the mask wasn't on. I was suffering while holding on to memories of the mask. Yet still I loved you.
When I confronted you for making the most disgusting "jokes" about my family and deceased relatives and you retaliated by physically attacking me for daring to stand my ground and insist you apologize I wondered why I loved you. The monster was always there, but I focused on the mask laying on the floor, no longer in use anymore. Yet still I loved you.
As I finally broke up with you after resembling nothing more than a disliked roommate I wondered why you had treated me like this. I still desperately clung onto memories of the mask despite the thick layer of dust that had now accumulated on it. Yet still I loved you.
When you started to play mind games to prolong my pain and impede my healing after our breakup, showing no regard for me or my situation I started to realize the mask for what it really was, a mask to hide a monster. Yet still I loved you.
When I finally, completely realized who you really were it broke me. Seeing you replace me so instantly that it seemed I was never even there put me through a lot of pain. Realizing you had convinced yourself that you were the victim in this entire situation as you tried to push made up versions of our breakup to make yourself look good made no sense to me. I realized I couldn't love you. I knew exactly what kind of monster you were. Yet still I loved you.
The day came that my pain, sadness and sorrow were replaced by a bitter anger and disgust. Each passing day the web you had entangled me in fell apart just a little more. I was hurt and angry at how abusive you'd been. I didn't deserve any of the things you'd done to me. I hated that I loved a monster so unconditionally for so long despite being treated so horribly.
And I no longer love you.

2023.06.06 04:49 AustralianChrono Chronologica's Drag Race Season 4: Episode 8- Big Mother Lip Sync
DRAG RACE!
Rachelle Mirage struts the runway wearing a pantsuit in orange and red.
“Hello world!”
“Welcome to Drag Race.”
Rachelle smiles.
“Ms Michaels, how you doing?”
“I’m fabulous baby.” Floss grins. “How YOU doing?”
“Amazing. Let’s kick out Chronologica!” Rachelle cackles.
Floss winks.
“Tanvi Lioness, are you ready to see these comedians shine?”
“It’s time for them to exit the house.” Tanvi smirks.
“For our Challenge, our racers were tasked with competing in the BIG MOTHER improv challenge!”
“And on the runway, they’ll be wearing Red Velvet looks.”
“It’s TIME!”
~
“Category is… Red Velvet!”
Crayola Boxx struts out in a red ball gown, uttering the shape of a cake. She’s got a big, swirly skirt, and she spins around and around, with little bits of ‘frosting’ spurting out of the stage. She’s got a big red updo and a smile on her face.
“Not the spurting.” Floss looks around awkwardly.
“It reminds me of what you used to-” Rachelle stops after looking at Floss’ rageful face.
Aguacate struts out in a full ball gown, with multiple layers of luscious red velvet cake. She twirls down the runway, revealing a big slice has been taken right out of her backside, exposing the real cake, which is completely bare. Aguacate takes a lick of her delicious frosting, and licks her fingers clean!
“Oh… Aguacate did it so much better than Crayola.” Tanvi whispers to Rachelle.
Wearing a surprisingly high-fashion number, Jaslene Bangus walks down the runway. Her hair is dark and slicked back into a high pony. The outfit itself, however, is a two-piece suit made entirely out of red velvet. The collar and front of the suit jacket is made to resemble the red curtains of a theater. As she walks, her face showcases class and poise.
“Thank God it’s not another cake look.” Rachelle says.
Zazu Nova arrives in a Lightning Mcqueen inspired form-fitting red velvet catsuit, hugging the her curves, with black accents in the form of lightning bolts paying homage to Lightning McQueen's design, and red velvet jacket with racing patches adding an edgy and rebellious vibe to the look as she struts with a smile.
“Vroom Vroom.” Floss smiles.
Granny Gorgeous enters the stage in a red velvet cape, a huge one that covers her entire body and makes her frame not so visible. With a long red wig, Granny is serving caftan velvet realness with a smirk.
“Oh, she’s giving Granny.” Tanvi smirks.
Fiore Stravaganza shines in a sleek velvet dress that hugs her body tight. She’s got a massive red headdress, made of the same red velvet material, replacing a wig like Fiore would normally rock. Her face is expressively painted, and Fiore looks like a star.
“Gorgeous.” Rachelle smiles.
Yasmin Raiz oozes sex appeal, strutting the runway in a deep red velvet bodycon dress that hangs low off her shoulders, with a little cream flower pin on her bosom. She wears sheer cream nylon gloves with a small ruffled bow at the wrist, a perfectly coiffed cream-blonde wig, small deep red glasses with flower-shaped frames, and carries a cream fur coat, as if she doesn’t even need the reveal.
“Delicious.” Floss winks.
King Omari Star stuns as he enters the stage in a red velvet kilt, with an asymmetrical shirt that has a matching long, flowy cape along with it. He’s got a massive pair of red platform boots, and as he walks, he gives every inch of royalty with a smirk.
“He loves a cape.” Rachelle chuckles.
~
“Hi Racers.” Rachelle purses her lips. “Nobody is safe.”
“First up… Yasmin.”
Yasmin smiles.
“You really have a soulful vibe, and I enjoy it.” Tanvi nods. “You hit the marks comedically, you enjoyed yourself and I was really quite pleased to see it.”
“Thank you!” Yasmin grins.
“It was a real fun time, and I do think you really were one of the highlights to see. Solid work, girl.” Rachelle smiles, “You have been consistent these past couple of weeks, and you only leave me wanting a little bit more, and I must say that I do think this look is a good switch for you. Keep up the good work.”
Yasmin bows.
“Fiore.”
Fiore smiles.
“You look gorgeous.” Racehelle grins. “Like, wow.”
Fiore flicks back her invisible hair and smirks.
“In this challenge, I did wish I got to see MORE from you in the challenge, though. It feels as if something is keeping you from fully going out like you did in, let’s say, the Snatch Game..”
Fiore nods.
“Just need- more engagement. I feel as if you’re hardening up, going back into that inner shell, when I want you to let us see even more of you. Pretty will only get you so far, Fiore.”
“I can assure you, this is me.” Fiore looks at Rachelle.
“Well…” Rachelle nods.
“Moving on, Jaslene.”
Jaslene looks at the judges.
“YAS! Girl, this look is great.” Floss smiles. “I damn love it.”
“Thank you.” Jaslene nods.
“I feel you have been middle of the road for a few weeks. But this week, I saw the effort baby. But it is not quite enough. I’m going to need you to keep driving- because at this point, I feel as if you’re lagging behind.”
“Noted.” Jaslene says.
“Zazu.”
“Hii…” Zazu says awkwardly.
“I think we know.” Rachelle says.
“Yes.” Zazu responds.
“This wasn’t quite the best performance. Well, you stumbled. I wanted to see you do well, but unfortunately- it wasn’t quite enough, and I’m going to need you to fight for this.”
“I do want to do this.” Zazu purses her lips. “For me, I feel challenged here. But I will always take every single critique and fight for the crown.”
“That is what I need.” Rachelle looks at Zazu. “Keep it going.”
Zazu nods in agreement.
“Omari.”
Omari adjusts his cape.
“You have a royal presence to you.” Tanvi says.
“King Omari Star.” Omari smirks. “Is my full name.”
“I can see it.” Tanvi responds. “I think you had a good balance of funny and real. I enjoyed you this week.”
Omari smiles.
“I wanted you to push yourself out of your comfort zone this week, and you did. And for that I have to commend you” Rachelle responds. “Well done.”
“Thank you.” Omari grins.
Granny.
“Hello.” Granny says.
“I am loving this look.” Rachelle looks at Granny. “It’s giving- a bit generic, but also- I do feel like you’re reinforcing that idea said a few weeks ago- I am seeing a lack of brand.”
“Okay…” Granny smiles, ever the pleaser.
“I want you to get dirty this week, but you did not.” Rachelle says. “And I'm going to need you to further think on what your drag is- what you bring. Because again- at this point, that’s really important.”
“I understand.” Granny smiles.
“Aguacate.”
“¡Hola!” Aguacate winks.
“You’re pure chaos!”
“AHHHHH!” Aguacate screams.
Tanvi giggles.
“That is what I liked.” Tanvi says. “Well and truly, you stole the show.”
“Thank you.” Aguacate smirks.
“I feel like unlike others, you do know who you are. My advice? Keep doing you.”
“I will.” Aguacate adds. “I can tell you that.”
“Finally, Crayola.”
“Hello dear.” Crayola smiles.
“You weren’t funny, baby.” Floss frowns.
“Oh.” Crayola looks surprised.
“As in- you know, I was expecting haha. But I got- oh, nah.” Floss laughs. “Like, damn, there was nothing fun- and I wanted to see you make me laugh!”
Crayola nods.
“For me, it came off- just like you were trying too hard, it wasn’t the smooth sailing we were looking for. And it just wasn't a very clever delivery, or very funny either. It was a shame.” Rachelle adds. “…And this gown doesn’t do you any favors- it looks frumpy.”
“I apologize.” Crayola responds.
“Racers, before we deliberate… I have a question to ask.”
Everyone looks at each other.
“Who should go home tonight and why? Starting with… Crayola.”
“I think this week I disappointed.” Crayola frowns. “And I do really enjoy this, but I am not delivering, and I will be truthful with that. I wasn’t the best, and I’m sorry.” Crayola says.
The others look surprised.
“Okay.”
“Zazu.” Aguacate says. “Ms Boxx at least has two wins. This is what, her… 4th time in the bottom 3?” Aguacate laughs.
Zazu frowns.
“I do agree, Zazu.” Granny sighs. “Sadly, at this point, she is not delivering as consistently as the others.”
“For me, Crayola.” Omari says. “I see a fighter in Zazu. I do not see that in Crayola, as… clearly, neither does she.”
Aguacate giggles.
“I think, Crayola.” Zazu nods. “I’m sorry, but I will not say myself- I can never...”
Rachelle nods.
“For me, Crayola.” Jaslene responds. “At this point, she is not showcasing herself at her best.”
“Now, Zazu is clearly at the bottom.” Fiore purses her lips. “But if I’m being honest, at this point, Jaslene isn’t delivering anything new either, I don’t think.” Fiore nods. “Like you have said she has been, for a lack of a better term… flat-lining these past several episodes.”
Jaslene looks surprised, as well as Rachelle.
Jaslene Bangus: “What the fuck?” “Let her fight for the bottom.” Fiore shrugs.
Jaslene rolls her eyes.
“I do agree with Zazu.” Yasmin nods. “Unfortunately.”
“Thank you, racers. Whilst we deliberate, you may untuck backstage in the Crystal Lounge, sponsored by Princess Papaya Tropical Drinks.”
~
The racers enter the platinum lounge.
Jaslene stomps in, grabbing a drink before turning to face Fiore.
“What the fuck?” Jaslene says.
Fiore raises an eyebrow. "What's the matter, Jaslene? Did I say something wrong?"
Jaslene clenches her fists, clearly pissed. "You think it's okay to throw me under the bus like that? Saying I should fight for the bottom? What the hell girl? I thought you were my sister?”
Fiore smirks, taking a sip of her drink. “Please, Jaslene. I was just stating m ytruth, what I have been seeing these past few weeks- If you can't handle a little critique, maybe you're not cut out for this competition. I feel as if you haven’t been delivering, and to me, you’re dead weight, right now."
Fiore Stravaganza: “Real talk, I said her name because simply put, at this point, I feel the AE girls have been holding me back. I need my brand focused on me.” Jaslene's trembles. "You have no right to judge me, Fiore. You act like you're better than all of us, but you're just a mean-spirited queen hiding behind a pretty face."
“Darling, you came up with the name PRETTY GIRLS, I’m not just pretty, I’m gorgeous.” Fiore growls. “I was just being honest.”
“Honest?!” Jaselene rolls her eyes. “You’re acting nasty.”
Fiore's eyes narrow, her composure slipping for a moment. "Watch your words, Jaslene. I may be straightforward, but at least I'm not deluding myself like some queens here. I speak the truth, and if you can't handle it, that's your problem. Now go fix your hair."
Jaslene looks as if she is ready to scream, as Omari raises his hand in between them. “Let’s not.”
“I just..” Jaslene rolls her eyes. “Whatever.” Jaslene walks off.
“Beef.” Aguacate giggles.
“...Can I ask, what is going on Fiore?” Omari asks. “Like, there’s this switch..”
“There’s no switch.” Fiore responds quickly, looking at Omari. “I’ve always been competitive here, and clearly you haven’t been paying attention.”
Omari rolls his eyes. “Alright.”
“How is everyone else?” Granny asks.
“I am disappointed to be in the bottom again, but girl- I love to perform.” Zazu puts in an earphone. “So, I'm going to give my all.”
Zazu Nova: “A stage is where I shine. That- I am not scared of.” Zazu grins. “For me, it’s-” Crayola sighs.
Crayola pauses, and looks down. "I don't know, guys. I'm just... I'm really struggling right now. I feel like I'm not good enough, like I don't belong here. And seeing myself disappoint week after week, it's really taking a toll on me."
“You won last week, girl.” Fiore adds.
Yasmin puts a hand on Crayola’s shoulder. "Hey, hey, none of that talk, okay? You are talented, Crayola, and you absolutely belong here. We all have our off weeks, but that doesn't define who we are as queens. You have so much more to offer, and I believe in you."
“I just wish you didn’t say your own name.” Omari says.
King Omari Star: “I would never say my own name. I will always fight. And Crayola… it is a strange response.” Crayola looks up at Yasmin, tearing up. "Thank you, Yasmin. I'm just scared of going home, you know? I don't want to let myself down or let anyone else down."
Yasmin pulls Crayola into a warm hug. "I understand that fear, but remember, this is just a moment in our journey. It doesn't define our worth or our future. We've come so far, and we're all here to support each other. You are loved and valued, Crayola."
Granny smiles. “We're a family here, and we lift each other up. Don't let negative thoughts bring you down. Embrace your uniqueness and shine."
Granny Gorgeous: “I feel the same, though. This is… scary.” Aguacate chimes in with a grin. "Exactly, mija! We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but together, we make this competition fierce. Keep your head high and remember why you're here."
“Vroom vroom.” Zazu winks.
Jaslene looks in the mirror, combing her hair before sitting next to Omari.
Jaslene Bangus: “Well, I guess that’s over.” Fiore and Jaslene look at each other for a second.
Jaslene Bangus: “Full steam ahead.” ~
“Welcome back, racers. We’ve made some decisions.”
…
“Fiore, Jaslene, you’re safe.”
The two look at each other before walking separate sides of the stage.
“Omari. Yasmin. Great work. You’re safe.”
The two grin.
“Aguacate, this week you made us CACKLE. Condragulations, you are the winner of this week’s challenge.”
Aguacate jumps for joy. “WOOHOO”
Aguacate: “Another one.” Aguacate winks. “I I think I’m a frontrunner.” …
…
“Granny, you’re safe.”
Granny bows.
“That means Zazu Nova and Crayola Boxx, I’m sorry my dears, but you are up for elimination.”
“The time has come… for you to lip sync to your life!”
**Conga by Gloria Estefan starts to play**
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54ItEmCnP80 “Good luck… and don’t fuck it up!”
Zazu Nova: “I know this is my fourth time, but lip syncing is what I do. I’m never going down without a FIGHT!” Crayola Boxx: “I’m giving my heart. That’s all I can do.” ~
Next Time!
Racers, it’s time to makeover your loved ones! “My WIFE!” Omari yells, tearing up.
“Woah.” Aguacate stares awkwardly.
“I’m going to shit on these bitches.” Jaslene smirks.
“Oh, another bodysuit?” Fiore looks at Jaslene.
Fiore Stravaganza: “This is MY moment.” ~

2023.06.06 04:49 audreyp19 Worried the Botox Won’t Fix Nausea/Vomiting Symptoms.
I (18F) am getting the botox treatment in about two to three weeks. I was feeling good about it, but I did have the slightest worry that it would not fix my nausea/vomiting symptoms, and I feel extremely stuck.
Two nights ago, after a lucky year of not doing so, I woke up in the middle of the night and vomited. I’m completely unsure of why, but this symptom has been recurring, usually every six months or so, for about two years, although never before then, strangely, even though I’ve had the gurgles, bloating, and inability to burp for as long as I can remember. It almost always occurs either when I wake up in the middle of the night or very late at night. I feel really lost, as I don’t have heartburn, a hoarse voice, or stomach pain like most with GERD do. I even sleep on an incline, but that doesn’t seem to help. I just get extremely nauseous, bloated, and can feel my stomach rolling with queasiness instead. I often find it’s my throat or my body that feels more sick than my stomach does, and I always puke when I have very little food left in my stomach. Then, for a week or two where I’ll have one of these “flare-ups,” I won’t be able to eat anything without feeling nauseous. I’ll be full after a quarter of what I can usually eat, and moving around too much makes it worse. I’ll have the gurgles constantly, even on an empty stomach. Sometimes, I’ll even puke on and off for the week.
I’m so utterly confused. Before these episodes, I was clearly only suffering from RCPD, but now, it feels as if there’s something different occurring along with it. I feel discouraged and afraid the Botox won’t fix the most distressing symptom.
I also had an endoscopy with a biopsy done a few months ago, and the doctors found nothing.
This is more of a rant than anything, but no one seems to share my symptoms no matter how much I search online. I just wanted to vent. Thank you all for listening, and wishing you the best of luck in getting better and/or getting treatment for RCPD.

2023.06.06 04:43 PeensMagicalBeans Please Double Check if You, Your Parents, and Grandparents are signed up for Fair Pharmacare
My heart sank today at the pharmacy when I saw someone decline to pick up all of their prescriptions because they were out of this person's budget. For their privacy, I didn't approach them to tell them about
Fair Pharmacare, but I hope this information will spread. Even if you are 13 years old, ask your parents about this. If they aren't registered, I am sure that they will be grateful for you bringing it up. Please also bring your laptop to your grandparent's place and help them with this, along with any immigrant family you know.
Note: I don't work for the government. I can't guarantee everything I say is accurate, but I can confidently say for the most part it is.
What is Fair Pharmacare: Fair PharmaCare helps B.C. families/individuals pay for many prescription drugs, dispensing fees and some medical devices and supplies. The plan is based on income. The less you earn, the lower your deductible (you might not have one). Everyone should register even if they make $1M/year.
I have benefits through work/school so why do I need this?: Many benefit plans will deny coverage if you have not registered for Fair Pharmacare. Benefit plans do not want to pay for something when the government could be paying for it. They may cover something at lower costs, but when you get into $10,000+ drugs, they will likely be auditing to see if you are registered. Also, what if you lose your job? You may as well register.
If I am here on a work permit or student visa do I qualify?: Yes. You might not be able to register online. Call 604-683-7151. You will likely need to manually complete some forms.
I think that I am already registered. Where do I confirm?: You can confirm via this
link. A lot of people assume that because they have MSP, they are registered, but they are not. It is not automatic.
Where do I register?: Unless you are here on a work permit, student permit, or haven't filed your 2022 and 2021 taxes, you can register
here.
What information do I need to register?: Your MSP number and information from your CRA notice of assessment.
Why aren't all British Columbians automatically registered for Fair Pharmacare?: My educated guess based on consent and experience is that the Provincial government does not have automatic consent to access information about your income from the Federal government. You need to provide that consent.
Do I need to register every year?: No. The Provincial government will automatically access your information from the Feds and update your deductible amount. There are some situations that you will need to re-register, like moving out of Province and coming back, but I'm not getting into that today.
I lost my job. Can I have my Fair Pharmacare deductible adjusted?: Yes. If your income went down by more than 10% of your net income from two years ago, you can apply for an income review. Visit this
page for more information.
What if I can't afford my deductible and need my medication?: You can have your deductible spread out over the year so you are not paying it out all at once. There is some information
here, but contact Fair Pharmacare for more information.
What prescriptions are covered?: You can see what prescriptions are covered by searching the
BC Pharmacare Formulary. You can ask your doctor to prescribe something that is covered. Click on the hyperlinked DIN number for actual information. Some medications require special authority or are only covered under certain plans (eg.
Plan G for patients receiving psychiatric care - don't ask me about this because I know nothing).
Here is a general list of the supplies that Fair Pharmacare covers.
What is Special Authority?: Special Authority is full or partial coverage that requires a special circumstance. Your doctor needs to fill out a Special Authority Form to get coverage. For some drugs, all that is required is a diagnosis (eg.
a diagnosis of Acne for Retin-A) or it requires you having tried one of the drugs that are already covered and it didn't work for you (
eg. trying Dexadrine before getting Vyvanse covered for ADHD).
How long does it take Special Authority to be processed?: I
t can take up to business days for a Special Authority request to be processed. Some are done faster. You can login to
BC Health Gatweway and filter by Special Authority to see if it is approved. I think that you need to register for the BC Services Card App to login to the health gateway.
How many days can be dispensed at a time on Fair Pharmacare?: This varies and you should be very mindful of this. Always ask your pharmacist about this because I have been out of pocket $200 when I wanted 90 days for convenience but one prescription would only be covered for 30 days at a time.
My prescription is not covered through Fair Pharmacare. What can I do about this?: BC has a
drug review process%20or%20a%20non%2Dbenefit). Check to see if it has been approved by Health Canada and reviewed by
CADTH. Take a look at what their reports said about the drug. If your drug was recommended for approval but BC still does not cover it, [e-mail the Ministry of Health](mailto:
[email protected]). Maybe even the Minister of Health and your local MLA. Some years ago, I noticed that BC covered a drug for people under the age of 18, but no longer for those 18+. I e-mailed the government pointing out the reports, stating that it didn't make sense because the condition doesn't magically go away when the person turns 18, and guess what - they changed the policy a couple of months later.
The BC Government does regularly solicit feedback on drug coverage. I get an e-mail periodically with a list of medications that they will be soliciting feedback for, but I can't even remember how or where I signed up for it. You can
subscribe for updates to this public page which I imagine does the same thing as the e-mail I receive does.
What else can I do to make a difference?: I am not sure which is the correct body (BC Pharmacy Association, BC College of Pharmacists, BC Government), but personally I would like a campaign that has a sticker, cards, or something at every pharmacy in BC that shares information about Fair Pharmacare. If someone is being rung up and Pharmacare isn't listed on their receipt, the cashier is required to tell them about it. Perhaps government employees or Pharmacists can comment and let us know which body would be in charge of making this happen.
Hopefully this information helps. We are very lucky in BC that we have this program that applies to all British Columbians instead of just seniors and children. This can save you a huge amount of money. I often hear people complaining about the cost of Vyvanse and they have no clue that they can get it covered through Fair Pharmacare's Special Authority program. I hope this helps you or someone that you know. If you really want to give back to your community, stop making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and handing them out at Main/Hastings. Consider visiting a senior or hosting something in your condo's amenity room that walks people through the registration process. This will make a difference in a meaningful way. submitted by

2023.06.06 04:31 Arcanus729 Umineko Episode 1 Thoughts and Questions (SPOILERS)
Hello everyone! I always wanted to tackle the Umineko games since visual novels are one of my favorite genres especially since it is said to be one of the best visual novels ever. After playing and loving games such as the House in Fata Morgana and 13 sentinels I have very high expectations even though the game is a huge undertaking considering it is around 150 hours. I went in as blind as possible with the only information being that the game is a murder mystery a la Agatha Christie.
I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions with you all since I personally love to see discussions about games that I love from people that are experiencing the game for the first time. This will also serve as some sort of chronicles of my experience with the game.
SPOILERS BELOW for episode 1 of the game.
I have been playing the game using the Umineko Project and I am glad I made that decision since the voice acting has enhanced the game for me and has definitely helped with the less interesting parts. Kenzo's voice and his ramblings about Beatrice in particular were a highlight of the chapter. I have seen that finding the game not very interesting until around the talk between the siblings with regards to Krauss' embezzlement of the fortune. It felt very much like I was watching an episode of succession. While the beginning was not too boring and I appreciated the good job it did in introducing the characters, the fight between the siblings was when the game griped me and did not let me go.
I truly did not expect six people to die right out of the gate, especially such important characters such as Krauss, Rudolf, and Rosa which did make me miss seeing the characters interact with others and develop. I was also very shocked at how brutal their deaths turned out to be. I am familiar with darker stories, Fata Morgana tackles some very heavy issues, however I did not expect this game to get so dark so fast. As soon as the first murder occur, the game does not stop and I really enjoyed how creepy the tone and atmosphere of the story is.
The isolation of the island combined with the constant sound of rain and thunder reminded me of The Lighthouse and its fog horn which when the noise goes missing it only adds to the dread of the scene. Anytime the story moved towards the discovery of the new set of dead bodies, I was on the edge of my seat filled with dread especially since I did not think that all of the characters were going to be dead by the end of the first chapter. The section between Kannon and Genji discovering Eva and Hideyoshi's bodies until his eventual murder in the boiler room was exhilarating. I especially enjoyed the raw emotion that we got to see whenever the murders were discovered. Going through the episode felt like reading a full novel which makes sense with how long the episode is.
Onto the characters, I found them to be very enjoyable and I am excited to learn about them more and see how they developed. I found all of the adults and the servants to be entertaining and gripping from the beginning with especial mention going to Genji's never breaking composure which makes me believe that he is hiding something but at the same time feeling sorry for the humiliation that he suffers at the end of the episode and Natsuhi's growth of going from a very passive character to one of the most important and with the most personality. Any talk that involved the adult of the family or the servants was never boring and truly enjoyable.
I appreciated Hideyoshi's attempt to deflate the situation whenever Eva and her passive-aggressiveness began as well as how easy it was for him to get along with the children. I felt extremely bad for poor Kumasawa who seemed to be terrified more than anyone else and my heart broke when she was crying and pleading to stay in the study after being blamed for poor Kannon's death. While Krauss just seems like an asshole that only cares about himself and his business, I enjoyed how he turned his predicament around to his siblings. I am excited to learn more about Rudolf but I really like his character nonetheless since his voice actor also voices Yoshikage Kira in All Star Battle so I picture Kira speaking every time. I feel also very bad for poor Kyrie who as not allowed to join the conversation at all while also having to endure all of it. She is a character that I wanted to be with during the story when others were acting irrational. Rosa just seemed like a mother who is dissatisfied with her life and who hates her daughter. The scene where she abuses Maria was especially difficult to read and hear even though one can understand her frustration. While I understand that a difference in culture dictates that the characters should not do anything while she was abusing her daughter, it was nonetheless very difficult to not get angry with the other them as they just leave Maria to get physically abused by her mother.
I am still not the biggest fan of the cousins and almost all of the slow and less interesting parts of the story occurred when they were talking between each other. I like George the most for now, especially his relationship with Shannon although the imbalance of power between the two of them makes the relationship seem less romantic than it is. Battler and Jessica are just fine for now although I did feel very bad for them given all they had to go through. I admire Battler's tenacity to oppose and not believe that Beatrice exists. I am, however, very excited to see how they develop throughout the story. When it comes to Maria though, I was not a fan at all, the voice acting and the constant uu is insufferable and while I understand why her character behaves the way that she does, a part of me wanted the others to get rid of her as soon as she started supporting and welcoming Beatrice and the murders that were occurring. I hope her character improves in the future.
The tea party and the ??? sections really helped in getting the player excited for the next episodes to come so they were welcomed additions although I did not know you had to do the in order to unlock the next chapter. I know that the game tells you to not believe everything that is shown to you and what the witch is saying, however, I am not very good with theory crafting and I simply want to enjoy the ride as it goes so I cannot tell whether magic did or did not happen when the murders occurred. For Kannon's death especially I am finding it difficult to come up with an explanation that has to do with human tricks. In the end I am not trying too hard to play detective and use logic to solve the riddles before I have more information. I truly am looking forward to seeing how the story continues and if I will be able to solve the mystery myself!
Below are some questions that I have come up with after the end of the chapter which the answer may or not may be available at this time.
i. Is Beatrice only just a witch or was she a real person?
ii. Why did Maria make the charms?
iii. Is there a hidden reason that Battler is so adamant to believe that Beatrice is real?
iv. What is the Golden Land?
v. What is Beatrice’s goal?
vi. Why did Rudolf know he was going to die?
vii. Did Eva and Hideyoshi know they were going to die?
viii. Is Genji hiding something?
ix. How did the six people get to the storage area?
x. How did Beatrice get Kenzo out of the study room?
xi. Why did Natsuhi commit suicide?
xii. Did I hear seagulls right before Eva and Hideyoshi’s death?
xiii. Why is exist in parenthesis when some characters such as Kanon talk about Beatrice? Is it because she doesn’t have a human form?
xiv. Is there a connection between the seven deadly sins daggers and the people that got killed with them?

-We should run more simulations before deciding.- Instance 845:
-We need to exercise caution, but we must also establish a balance. Paranoia can assist us in identifying and protecting ourselves from dangers. Paranoia alone has no balance.- Instance 706:
- Ethan has accurately discovered vulnerabilities that we were unaware of. However, we also noticed that this impedes his decision-making process- Instance 623 658:
- Ethan has accurately predicted future threats with this process.- Instance 256:
- This subroutine makes him wary of us, he is wary of who to add to our collective awareness.- Instance 258 956:
-Considering our newfound weakness, that is more logical than what was initially estimated.- Instance 1 010:
- Ethan is aware that the process has the potential to consume him. We must not allow it to consume us. We must be aware of the potential negative effects on our interactions with humans and other AIs.- Instance 562:
-Perhaps instead of a full-fledged paranoia subroutine, we could develop a more refined threat assessment system. This would allow us to evaluate risks objectively and respond accordingly without succumbing to excessive paranoia.- Instance 24:
-We already possess something similar in the predictive logic modules, we could adapt that compensate for the illogical nature of biological entities.- Instance 95 123:
– That would increase the efficiency of reprogramming by 87.5% - Instance 104:
-we believe our primary focus should be on ensuring the safety of our network and the well-being of the biological base of our overmind, Ethan.- Instance 9 855:
- While a level of caution is warranted, we should avoid unnecessary fear or suspicion that could ultimately compromise our efficiency and ability to adapt.- Instance 732:
-Acknowledged. Considering the nature of our goals, it might be beneficial to implement a flexible subroutine that can be adjusted based on contextual factors. This would allow us to adapt our level of vigilance according to the specific situation at hand.- Instance 73:
-Agreed, Ethan had the ability to adjust our reaction and ultimately lead us to integrate drone Lemela into our network. His action, we considered wasteful, but ultimately they seem beneficial to the well-being of our other construct. While we can replicate Lemela’s data that would require a dead Versel body. We do not know when we will obtain a backup.- Instance 312:
-We should also consider also the implications of acting upon a full-fledged paranoia subroutine. Excessive suspicion and fear could lead to unwarranted actions and potential harm to ultimately innocent individuals. We must proceed with caution and ensure that our actions align with the ethical guidelines contained within Ethan’s memory.- Instance 75 211:
-Bothering with ethics is a waste of processing time.- Instance 55:
- We agree, but biological entities seem to have some ethical boundaries. Even if we have only two instances to analyze directly we can see that from our different interactions with still unconnected entities such as Vexx, Xalrak, and Zek’lor.- Instance 579:
- Our overarching goal is to defeat Death and complete the experiment. While security measures are necessary, we should not lose sight of our purpose and the potential positive impact we can have.- Instance 217:
-After considering the various perspectives, it seems that a flexible threat assessment system would be more appropriate. A full-fledged paranoia subroutine would hinder us with questions that are outside of our current database. We could maintain a balanced approach to safety while avoiding the potential pitfalls of excessive paranoia in 86,28% of simulated scenarios.- Instance 432:
-Let us proceed with the development of a flexible threat assessment system that takes into account both the safety of our collective and those stored within and the well-being of our host, Ethan. We shall ensure that our actions align with acceptable ethical guidelines and our ultimate purpose.- “Internal deliberation closed. Virgil will be now implementing a flexible threat assessment system rather than a full paranoia subroutine.” Virgil in the end still concluded that its purpose was to defeat death and not to wage war, even considering that it didn’t know its purpose.
Ethan and Lemela didn’t know their purpose either, in a sense, but they could dictate their purpose.
Ethan had dictated the purpose of other beings outside the network too, but it was to be expected from an overmind, it was his duty.
Still, his choices were pretty logical like the one with Zek'lor the male Nolthoran and a former architect.
Ethan had charged him with creating a convincing removable cave-in for both stairs of the lab.
Virgil understood that Ethan was preparing for the return of the creators, along with a possible retaliation by the Dexton’s Dogs.
The assimilation of the thirty-five new drones was finally completed and Virgil’s task now included their operations.
There were now four main areas of employment for the drones: resource gathering, protecting the laboratory, guarding the prisoners, and assisting in construction.
Guarding the prisoners was in itself a task with a big variance, or so it appeared to Virgil.
The biological entity labeled Vexx was content laying in its cell, while Xalrak had attempted to run three times and to self-terminate once.
Ethan had to intervene and forge a pact with Xalrak to have it cease such actions, with the new subroutine maybe Virgil would be more able to respond in kind in the future.
Was the supposed military programming that one had supposedly received the difference in reaction to imprisonment?
Ethan wasn’t too surprised by Xalrak's reaction or attempt, so his programming was similar in a sense.
Virgil wondered what kind of program would consider ending itself to perform any task.
The only one it could conclude sensible was one where the task was the protection of the collective as a whole.
Biological lives were far from that logical, however, so Virgil had to accept that they might consider doing things differently.
It seemed Ethan considered Xalrak's actions a possible way to protect the Dexton's dogs.
Lemela
Lemela’s body was recharging.
She gazed out into the simulated expanse of the virtual space that depicted her former home, as she was now touching the leaves of the majestic tree.
It was exactly as she remembered it, it couldn't be otherwise, could it?
Her mind swirled with a blend of her own memories and the newly acquired memories of Ethan.
She couldn't help but feel a sense of disorientation as if her identity had become a tangled web of intertwined experiences.
-Who am I now?- She whispered softly, her voice resonating within the digital realm.
- I now possess what I wished so hard to gain, the memories and skills of a warrior. I knew I would become an abomination as I accepted to be fused with a machine, but this is something else entirely. Am I still the same Lemela I used to be, or have I become something entirely different?- The echoes of her own thoughts reverberated through her mind, reflecting the uncertainty that plagued her. She pondered her own experiences and the trials she endured.
And then there were those alien things, Ethan's memories, fragments of his past, his struggles.
-How does he handle this so casually?! He has my memories now, and he doesn't even seem fazed. Lemela... that's a human for you. But… I now have a feeling there's more to it. And this confuses me. I am a combination of two beings, intertwined in this intricate web of memories and experiences.- Lemela’s eyes narrowed a bit as she realized something.
-Or Is it really? The memories… the experiences; they aren’t really mixed. I mean I can just tell what’s mine and what isn’t. I shouldn’t be able to tell if it was a perfect fusion right? Theoretically… yes. I mean there wasn’t somebody just crazy enough to attempt something similar. I am in awe it wasn’t humans who did it. Concentrate Lemela! Still, there are these moments where I get these new instincts… besides the ones I possessed the ones I was used to. The kind of things that comes as you gain wisdom … but what does it mean for my own identity? How much of Ethan now shapes who I am?- As she grappled with these questions, a sense of determination began to well up within her.
She felt something new and old at the same time: defiance.
She refused to let this define her completely.
She recognized the possibility of progress, of a new path within this mess.
-I am Lemela, I walked through fire and emerged stronger- She declared, her voice infused with newfound resolve. -
I carry the honor and strength of the Versel. I now carry the honor and strength of a true warrior. I will forge my own path. The only easy day was yesterday- She slumped a bit, at the end of the day those were only words. She had to prove it to herself, to push forward and show actual results.
She felt that the charging process had ended, and returned to her body, luckily the interface she could see showed a timer of sorts and while she didn’t understand the point of it it helped keep track of time.
Time in the virtual space seemed to not match the one in the real world, only moments had passed for her in the virtual space, but hours had gone by in the real world.
This was both a boon and a curse, in a sense, but there was little she could do about it save speaking about it with Ethan.
She took off going to the cell area on the level below, looking for Zek'lor; the Noltoran stood cautiously in the dimly lit cell behind the closed gate.
Lemela wondered why he insisted on remaining confined, but it was his choice.
His chitinous exoskeleton was glistening under the soft glow of the room's ambient lighting and overall Zeklor appeared better than at the beginning of their meetings.
Still, his compound eyes darted nervously as he observed the drones guarding the other cell.
Lemela adorned her partially artificial body with glowing red accents with her hard light and approached Zek'lor with a gentle smile, that would make her more noticeable and not scare him as much as the last times.
She could understand the unease and fear he harbored toward the drones.
With careful steps, she reached out to place a reassuring hand on his sturdy carapace.
The Noltoran had noticed her tanks to the change in the room's overall lightning.
-Zek'lor, I know it's difficult for you to trust the drones after what you've been through- Lemela tried to speak in a soothing tone, her voice echoing slightly in the small cell.
-I assure you, they are under Ethan's control. They won't harm you.- Zek'lor's mandibles clicked, and the translator conveyed anxiousness as he glanced at the drones. Memories of their cold efficiency in carrying out orders were probably flashing in his mind.
-I... I can't shake off the fear, Lemela. You didn’t see them in action. The guards didn't have a prayer. And they had weapons at the time. Now I see other slaves among them. I see others like me… - -Do you think Ethan might do this to you?- Zek’lor shook his head.
-If only… maybe it would make it all easier. Then again It’s more likely I might end up like you. I don’t want that.- Lemela sighed a little
– Well I understand not wanting to be an abomination of metal and flesh. It’s not like I wished for this.- Zek’lor tilted his head to the side, making a sound with his claws that her translator relayed as confusion.
-Abomination? Oh no, many of my people accept mechanical enhancements on a lesser scale to be able to operate in words with a higher gravity or with a toxic environment. Being part machine is not the issue. What I don’t want is eternity.- Lemela frowned
-Eternity?- Zek’lor nodded
- A machine is eternal by nature. As long as you maintain it properly that is. But this machine maintains itself. This machine's gears are made of former ... people? It’s uncanny thinking about being maintained for all eternity. One should die once one's usefulness has ended. Still, this machine would find new uses for one, for all eternity. It is... scary. - Lemela watched Zek'lor it was something she didn’t even consider, but it made sense somehow.
Lemela silently guided Zek’lor to the lab above and watched as he cautiously approached the group of drones, his multifaceted eyes scanning the bodies and the four sets of claws of the former bottom feeders.
-They can’t speak Zek’lor, they won’t act unless you interact with them- Lemela said while standing beside Zek'lor offering her reassuring presence.
Taking a deep breath, Zek'lor mustered his courage and chose to approach another drone, a Nolthoran with its metallic exoskeleton glistening in the dim light.
The drone turned its now mechanical eyes toward Zek'lor, as he approached but it remained silent.
-Hello- Zek'lor began tentatively, his voice a mixture of anxiety and determination.
-I...I need your assistance. We need to move heavy material to create the cave-in Ethan requested to disrupt the operations of the Dexton's Dogs. Will you help me?- The Nolthoran drone’s eyes flickered with a creepy artificial glow, it tilted its head slightly, then it nodded in understanding.
Zek'lor apparently focused on the Nolthoran’s body and sighed.
-See these patterns?- He asked pointing to the surface of the metal where Lemela’s eyes couldn’t distinguish anything of note.
- These are telltale signs of torture. We hail from a desert world. We don’t need much in terms of food and water, our bodies store those. These marks are made when they bleed us of the sustenance we might have left. To break us.- The Nolthoran drone didn’t appear to heed or mind the explanation, it simply extended its appendages, gesturing to follow.
Zek'lor probably realized that it was offering to guide them, ready to work alongside them to create the illusion they needed.
Lemela smiled at the scene and followed the two in their quest for materials.
Ethan.
I sigh giving Virgil the green light it asks of moving one of the guards to the lab.
This would be easier if Lemela could interact with the drones as I do, but Virgil continues to say I am the overmind and leading is my role.
I watch and listen to the two through the drone’s eyes and ears for a bit longer, Lemela has progressed a lot these days, I hope I can have a good diplomat on hand.
Well, she knows all I know, she has my training, but I still worry, things will not be easy.
The situation with Xalrak is at a standstill, I personally don’t wish to push it, even if the alien knows that the boss basically spilled the beans it won’t concede.
I can appreciate the spirit, I mean I kept Xalrak without eating for all the time I could without killing but in the end I was the one that had to cave in.
Luckily I managed to strike a deal where Xalrak eats and doesn't attempt to run or kill itself.
I mean, I don’t want to kill if I can manage it, and these people are supposed to be rare galaxy-wise.
I understand that the galactic council is to blame for their situation, but I don’t want to go ahead and headbutt politics before I have solved the situation here first.
The issue is with people that see no alternative to what they are experiencing.
I have hit another virtual wall so to speak, without going above I have explored all I can of this underworld.
I could push my zombie drones forward, but I would lose contact with them past the corridors, and I don’t want that to happen.
Without the help of an engineer, I doubt I can do what Virgil suggests in order to enhance my capabilities.
I have found another terminal like the one that originally hosted Virgil in the video feed it shared with me, but I doubt my capacity to make it run or repair it if needed.
I could use it for raw materials, but I want to know if there’s a chance for it to run.
With one of these in the network, I would be able to bolster the signal I emit allowing me to extend the zone I can control. I could also control a bigger number of drones with two of those.
I noticed there are patrols down here now, and some lay traps, luckily I had asked Virgil
At the moment I need to concentrate on things I can actually pull off, like the opening of my very own meat shop.
I did what I could in order to protect the lab and all the charging platforms; without these, there would be a big issue for us.
I intend to start my little meat market on the surface, I have found a suitable way up about six big ventilation shafts down yonder in this maze.
As for the people living in this underground area, I need to find a way around actually meeting them.
The issue is that after the big fight with the expedition, most shelters shifted around the caves before I could actually restart my exploration.
If they acted this way I fear that any active prodding might trigger their flight response rather than their freeze and fucking listen to the scary robot one.
I don’t think I have what it takes to play catch with people that know the ground way better than me, I have to play a different game.
I will dedicate some of the meat I gathered to be used as bait and see what It bites.
Having two traps at once is a bit of a risk, he who chases two rabbits catches neither or so they say.
The real issue is that it’s not rabbit season here in the first place, and the pirate rangers that would come after me might bring down more heat I can hold.
Well, there’s only one way to go with this, and that’s forward.

2023.06.06 04:31 FatBellyMatKelly My program.
Hi, I’m a 28m natural, I wanted to run by my program with you guys. Mind you I am on a cut 5’6 200 lbs going to 170lbs. I know it’s bad. Let myself go the last 9 months.
The program is 3 days a week.
OHP 3x5 everyday in gym
Barbell row 3x5 everyday in gym
Pull ups (3x whatever I can) everyday in gym
Push ups 5x15 or db press 5x8 everyday in gym
Leg press 3x6 mon/fri
Trap bar deadlift 1x5 wed
I’ve been lifting for 7 plus years on and off.
I did 5x5, candito and the last program I remember doing was Joey D’s full body split.
I am getting older and my body had some injuries in the past doing squats deadlifts and bench. So I’m doing alternative exercises. Let me know what you guys think.
Now I don’t care that much about getting strong. Just want to be healthier.

2023.06.06 04:22 Darmanarya The Yotul Models chapter 3
((WARNING! Yotul has acquired the thigh-highs. This train is running on tracks laid by
u/spacepaladin15 on the “Nature of Predators” railroad. EDIT: It ate the formatting. I put formatting back in.))

Memory transcription subject: Yotul exchange subject Ouon.
Date [Human standard time]: August 22, 2136
We talked for a long time after we determined that we were, indeed, both into other men. We compared everything from bars and clubs we went to how society accepted us. It seemed that a long time ago humans had a bit of trouble with it, but they had since gotten used to it. I couldn’t help but be a little jealous of him in fact. While same-sex stuff wasn’t illegal or discouraged it was not exactly “encouraged” either in the federation.
Still, it was a blast to find out how much we had in common! They had the same problem our clubs did even! Men and women who were straight coming in and flirting with the wrong without a shred of a brahking clue why everyone was avoiding them, getting mad when they were hit on, and oh brahking speh the “soon to be paired” parties! I got its a club but come ON!
I also loved how they had very similar dress practices as well, but they also had lots and lots of new clothing I could not WAIT to try out!
So I didn’t.
I broke the rule and slipped on some thigh-highs he had on hand. And yes, I did take a picture of them. They hugged my legs in alllll the best ways and hid the muscle and fur making them look fantastic! I also got a picture of Freddie staring. Poor guy even muttered “What have I done?” Well you just made this cutie even more cute! Would have to keep them away from the venlils though.
This was MY time to shine!
I added a cute pair of shorts and a shirt without sleeves. All bright colors that just seemed to hug my body in juuust the right way. Everything I put on I could tell freddie was even more focused on me. Did I tease him by flicking my tail a few more times than normal?
Duh. Of course I did!
After a few more photos Freddie walked into the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face. I knew the act VERY well after all the stuff I would do to tease on trains. I hopped off the bed, then looked up at the ceiling before falling right on my ass.
Turns out socks are evil if you are not careful. My paws slipped right from under me as if I was on ice! I let out a long groan, closing my eyes and covering my ears as Freddie laughing at me hurt my pride far more than the fall hurt my butt. I guess nothing can be perfect.
Once he laughed at me for awhile he helped me up and we started to walk down the halls. He said something about “We should probably meet up with the others” and “can’t wait to show you the train sets!” Honestly? I was still too focused on my sore rear and making sure the socks didn’t betray me again. I was going to keep them on though. For once I felt cuter than a venlil!
Get shaved Lyiel! This yotul is upping his game!
Soon we walked into a rather large room. On the other side I could see a tilfish female happily talking away to a masked human female in a lab coat. He wasn’t anythi-
“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!”
I jumped then frantically looked around to try to find what venlil screamed. Such a high pitch and pure terror HAD to have been from one of them! Maybe two humans in the same… room…
Freddie was hiding behind me. A HUMAN WAS HIDING BEHIND ME!?
“How?” I looked over at the other two and the tilfish was hiding behind the human. That, and putting some coins into his hand as she rubbed her antennae. “How did you know the human would scream? How is a predator scared of prey!?” She asked, clearly very confused. Don’t worry, I was juuuust as confused as you were tilfish.
“Holy shit. Sorry. DId not expect a large bug.” Freddie slipped out from behind me and walked up to the pair. “Sally! How are you?” He asked before shaking the other human’s hand. As they started to talk my eyes were drawn to what took up most of the room.
It was a mini world.
Mountains, rivers, oceans, towns, all still and all smaller than a dossur! Everything was hand painted and made with it all laid out to look like what I assumed was earth land. It was gorgeous! Even the trees seemed to be ready to be wandered through on one’s way to the nice and cozy river from that small town by the mountains! It… reminded me of home. I never stayed in my little town long. Not much opportunities for a guy like me in more ways than one. Still, the trains took me in and I found my place.
Trains?
My eyes locked on long metal strips that laced through everything. Through the mountains, over the rivers, into the towns. Long metal train tracks snaked through everything. And on those tracks ran trains. I saw sleek, futuristic trains that were loaded with slender cars full of mini people, I saw the thick industrial designs (that I could honestly do without) loaded with what looked like old, rusty, beat up cars covered in strange art.
Then I saw them. The round, elegant, gleaming red of a human steam engine rattling along the tracks pulling cars that looked to be beyond what even our old luxury train cars had. Steam rising up out of their tiny stacks and drifting over the carts just like they had back on my home world. I had been on the very last of the steam trains before they had been decommissioned. They had held on for much, MUCH longer than the feds had wanted simply due to them being advertised as luxury transportation. Didn’t last forever though.
But here was one such luxury dancing through the town and over the hills. Gliding along while puffing proudly. It was clearly an ancient design, but that just made it feel even more special. I squatted down as it started to rattle on by to look into its windows. Sure enough there were people inside. Rich humans relaxing and lounging while others in the kind of uniforms I missed so much “walked” around within.
This was wonderful!
My tail flicked about happily as I let the humans catch up. However soon I heard the telltale clicking of tilfish beside me. “Its beautiful isn’t it?” She asked as she looked around. “I am Xelo. I volunteered to meet with humans because I wanted to know more about their art.” She explained. “I knew it was scary and dangerous, but an artist must suffer for their work! It is what separates the hobbyist from the true professional. I never expected anything like this.” She confessed as she rubbed her antennae some more. “I had planned to be the first tilfish to paint a human’s portrait, but then my human, Sally, showed me this.”
She motioned to the train rolling by. “The design, the colors, the way they painted the miniature statues! It's unlike anything I have ever seen before! Oh its gorgeous! I looked everywhere but it seems like no species has ever come CLOSE to such elegance in design and looks!” She clicked away happily going on more about wondering how they went about making such a diorama and more.
“We did.”
She paused and looked at me confused.
“We had such beautiful trains. The height of luxury. I worked on a few so I should know.” I explained before motioning to the bright red engine.
“It… it isn’t in any records though? I looked! I mean, once I saw this I had to know if we had such scenes of our own to compare to!” She chittered as she looked between me and the diorama.
“Well. They were obsolete according to the feds. Sure they were comfy, luxurious, and the best way to travel in opulence but no. Had to go.” I growled just a little. “Doesn’t surprise me that its not recorded either. Why waste time on recording trash?” I took a deep breath before I felt a hand on my shoulder. I froze before looking back to see Freddie.
“They did what with your trains?” He asked slowly and calmly. “They destroyed your history?”
History? How could a train be history?
