2023.06.03 09:20 letsrizz Anxiety filled night… almost pulled a trans (infield 6/1/2023)
This night was the worst night I’ve had since I started taking this seriously about 2 and a half months ago. I have been out of town for the last week with family so I haven’t been able to have any form of communication with people other than my family which made me feel really rusty. On top of that I have this imagine in my head that I’m a very good looking dude (for reference look up coach Kyle on YouTube that’s kind of what I look like) but the day before I messed up my beard and had to shave a lot of it off which made me feel really insecure even tho I know it doesn’t matter for some reason it made me feel very in my head. So going into the night was very nervous and anxious. Which I haven’t felt since before I started gaming 2 months ago. Still I had a total of about 5-6 sets.
First set was probably the hottest girl I talked to of the night. She was about a 5’7 beautiful Latina girl with thick legs brown/highlight hair with an accent dressed to the 9. I was sitting with friends and one of them commented on her and I knew i had to approach. The first time I tried I pussied out I walked passed her did a turn around, gathered my self and approached. I was super nervous I could tell everything was off my voice tonality, body language, eye contact. Dispit this the first 2 minutes went very well. She was laughing as I was making jokes that pertained to the nights theme. The part that messed me up was giving a false time constraint which in heinsight is pointless in a bar plus her other friend was occupied so no reason to do that. On top of that I was talk vomiting where I kept filling in the space when I should have left some silence. So I said some joke that didn’t really make sense and she could tell I got in my head about it and said, you should go back to your friends (which was my time constraint) in a nice way. up until the last 10 seconds it was going good tho could have flirted more. Proud of myself for opening even tho every inch of my body was telling me not to do it. So good start.
She was 9/10
Second set was a cute faced Latin girl with a petite frame in an orange shirt and had a really nice butt lol. I approached her in the bar she was waiting for her friend to order. We chatted and could tell she really liked me. Asked me questions and displayed a lot of iois. Still rusty tho and for some reason ejected myself from the set for no reason. I notice it’s a trend, especially with last night I did that 5 times. I need to nip it in the butt. Could tell the attraction was there since she kept looking at me all night. Fumbled the bag cause she was def my type.
She was 7.5/10
Third set was a slim tall black haired white skinned Hispanic girl with a pink highlight and pink nose ring which I commented on when she was walking past from the bathroom. I again start off solid, complimenting her nose ring saying I think it’s glowing (cause of the lights in the bar) she began talking and tbh I zoned out got in my head and wasn’t listening so I didn’t know what to say and ended the convo saying have a goodnight. Turned around and I could see her still standing there, I’m confident she still wanted to talk to me. My friend I was with also tells me that she went and told her friend about it so probably a good thing. Again shot myself in the foot. She would had been down to hang forsure. I should have told her let’s go meet your friend and bring my friend along to wing. Smh
She was a 6.5/10
Next set was a group of 3 girls I was walking past leaving the bar and noticed this cute Asian girl. Petite frame super cute face basically just a cute Asian girl wearing a super funny shirt. It said “guys are good as pets “with a hand drawn picture of a girl holding a leash with a guy on his knees being walked around like a dog. I said that shirt is so fucking cool! all the girls got really happy and her friend said she made it which I thought was pretty dope. I then for some STUPID reason said “that’s so cool just wanted to tell you that have a great night.”IM HONESTLY SO PISSED WRITING THIS THINKING BACK SINCE THATS AN EASYYY way I could have sexualized things with her if I would have just STAYED IN THE FUCKING SET! I’m actually really mad now writing this cause she was so cute lol.
She was a 8/10
Another set was outside patio of the bar this very exotic looking Latin girl with hair that looks like she’s from the 80s. I went up and said “your hair looks so cool you look like you’re from the 80s” in which her friend gasses her up saying she does. I then made a comment that she looks kind of like Jenna Ortega. She didn’t really but kind of so I said it and she laughed. I said you should cross play as Wednesday, in which she responded by doing the dance 😂 (this is why I love girls they can be so fun) I then talked about her playing the chello. I could see she kind of gave me the hot girl blasé, (playing hard to get) so I got nervous since I felt she wasn’t into me so I left. my verbal game was on point with her I applaud myself for that. I feel like I lost her interests in the set because of my bad eye contact, and body language. So i defaulted by self sabotaging. Smh
She was a 8/10
Tried talking to this small girl. She was one of those stuck up girls who think there so hot but I approached and she didn’t even really look at me and just said something I don’t remember but could tell she wasn’t intrested at all so I left. Instant blowout which Im proud to say I really don’t have those much anymore so it was kind of weird. No worries tho.
She was a 7/10 ironically lol
Funny enough later on that night there was this trans girl that looked just like her so I tried to reopen thinking it was the same girl and she was obviously really into me from the jump but as soon as she opened her mouth I could hear her voice and I was like fuckkkk 😂💀💀 my friends were with me too and I instantly said bro let’s go get a drink and left. Funny af
Second to last set was a very cute/pretty Latin girl in a green shirt. I commented on it while she was sitting with her friend. She had an adorable smile which I told her. She was interested since at this point in the night I had quite a bit to drink so my eye contact and body language was on point. We went back and forth joking and asking question. And I actually didn’t self sabatoge this time lol. Where I think I lost the set was 1 I could have slightly been slurring my words which Idk how girls feel about that but to me it’s a bit of a turn off so there’s that and also I made the mistake of not introducing myself to her friend. After a few minutes of talking she said I need to get back to my friends now and got up and walked inside. (I guess she has other friends there too idk) I did the best with eye contact and body language here only problem is it happened cause I was drinking. But I mean still good interaction non The less
She was 8.5/10
Last set was a 2 set. They were cousins one was a 6.5/10 my target was a 8.5/10 small petite pretty face nice body. I forgot what I was saying talked about a bunch of nonsense. They were nice but I wasn’t getting any IOIs from my target girl so when I don’t I tend to leave since I don’t want to make them uncomfortable but definitely should have stayed in set since they were cool. I could have definitely turned her around if my eye contact voice tonality and body language were good
Main takeaway.
I need to stop ejecting myself. If I didn’t eject myself it would have been really on with 3 of the girls I talked to that night. I could tell instantly how much they liked me and if I didn’t fuck myself over by being a little bitch I could have possibly pulled or atleast got some very solid numbers. Proud of myself for taking action regardless of how I felt but mad at myself for fumbling the bag so hard all night long. But todays another day.

2023.06.03 09:17 s3411 How common is it for a general contractor to have open lawsuit & safety violations?
tl;dr - How common is it for a contractor get "unlucky" and get lawsuit & safety violations?
I have received a few quotes so far for a remodeling. It is about replacing kitchen cabinets, countertops and same for the bathrooms. I live in high COL city. -
A - $35k -
B - $50k -
C - $55k -
D - $65k
The issue here is that when I looked up
A's contractor license, I found one open lawsuit(?) or complaint with complaint amount over $150k+ that was filed last year.
Interplead:No is the latest status of this lawsuit.
A also has a few safety violations from one year ago from large home remodeling project. 8 violations from 2 inspections - total of $3600 penalty amount.
A does have a license & bond $12,000.
His license seems to be at least 4 years old, and I don't see any violations or lawsuit before last year.
When I asked
A about the lawsuit,
A said client was refusing to provide money while construction was in progress which ended up him having to stop working for the job due to unable to purchase materials.
For the safety violations, which are all marked as
corrected,
A said inspector mistakenly gave him penalty when he was working on interior & another contractor was working on the roof without safety measures due to communication issues. He acknowledge that one is from him.
Now, do you think a contractor can get unlucky and get these lawsuit & violations? The reason why I am considering
A is because
A has been able to get quote fast, price is low, can start the remodeling project within next 3 weeks &
A said he can complete it in 2 weeks or a bit more. He also forwarded me to a cabinetry store which I was able to find cabinet style I liked as well as quartz countertops with some patterns.
A also said small project like these shouldn't be a big problem.
C was late for site visit by almost 30min, and
B actually takes forever to communicate.
Some other minor concerns are,
- measurements A took was a bit off, so cabinetry store asked me to get measurements again.
- A said wall space with 26-inch width cannot be installed with wall cabinet with 2 doors - and it has to be 1 door. But when I researched, 2 door installation for 24-inch wide space seems possible.
- A does not speak English well and has agent who is doing translations.
I am talking to these contractors over Houzz/Bulidzoom.
How common is it for a contractor get "unlucky" and get lawsuit & safety violations? Would you hire
A?

2023.06.03 08:50 Goalshop54 What are the Interior Design Ideas for a Tiny House?
Designing a tiny house provides a unique challenge: maximizing the use of limited space while retaining practicality and aesthetic appeal. Fortunately, various interior design concepts can make a little
house decor feel more roomy, efficient, and pleasant. Here, we look at some popular interior design concepts for compact houses.
- Every square inch counts in a little abode. To maximize functionality, versatile furniture must be included. A sofa that also serves as a pull-out bed, a dining table that folds down from the wall, or storage ottomans that function as seats while also providing hidden storage space is all examples.
- Open Floor Designs: Open floor designs work well in tiny dwellings to generate a sense of openness and maximize the flow of natural light. Removing unneeded walls and barriers can make a room feel more spacious and versatile. It also allows for more versatile furniture combinations and the appearance of a larger living space.
- Utilizing Vertical Room: Because tiny residences frequently lack horizontal room, vertical space is essential for storage and organization. Installing floating shelves, wall-mounted hooks or racks, tall storage units, or built-in cabinetry can help maximize vertical space while keeping the floor clear and clutter-free.
- Bright and light colors, such as whites, creams, and pastels, enhance the illusion of space in a small dwelling. They reflect natural light, making the room feel light and airy. Choosing light-colored furniture, carpeting, and wall finishes all help to make a room appear larger.
- Large Windows and Natural Light: Adequate natural light is vital for making a tiny area appear larger and more appealing. Large windows not only illuminate the interior but also provide a connection to the outside world, providing a sense of openness and enlarging the perceived space.
- Mirrors & Reflective Surfaces: Using mirrors to create the illusion of depth and visually expand a compact house is a clever design tip. Mirrors carefully placed can reflect light and provide the illusion of a larger space. Incorporating reflecting surfaces such as glass or metallic accents can also assist bounce light around the space.
- Smart Storage Solutions: In a tiny residence, effective storage solutions are essential for keeping possessions organized and minimizing clutter. Under-bed storage, built-in cabinets, hanging organizers, and concealed or multi-functional storage sections can all help to maximize available space while preserving a clean and uncluttered appearance.
- Compact Appliances and Fixtures: In a tiny house, it's important to choose appliances and fixtures that are specifically designed for small spaces. Compact kitchen appliances, space-saving bathroom fixtures, and slim-profile furniture can help maximize functionality while minimizing the footprint.
- Outdoor Living Space: If your tiny house has outdoor space, incorporating an outdoor living area can extend the usable space and provide a refreshing retreat. Designing a patio, deck, or rooftop terrace allows for additional seating, dining, and relaxation areas, providing the feeling of a larger overall living space.
- Personalization and Minimalism: While designing a tiny house, it's essential to focus on the essentials and avoid excessive clutter. Embrace a minimalist approach by carefully curating your belongings and incorporating personal touches that bring joy and meaning to your space. Thoughtful design choices and intentional decor can make a tiny house feel cozy and uniquely yours.
Finally, designing the interior of a compact house necessitates imagination as well as careful consideration of space constraints. A compact house can feel more large, useful, and appealing by adding multipurpose furniture, utilizing vertical space, embracing light colors, maximizing natural light, employing mirrors, and prioritizing smart storage. A tiny house may become a cozy, personalized retreat that suits your needs and reflects your taste with intelligent design decisions and efficient use of space.

2023.06.03 08:18 albinochase15 Installed the OEM hitch today
| Installed the OEM hitch today. Overall it was pretty easy, but time consuming. The bumper came off much easier than I was expecting. You definitely need a 19mm crows foot wrench if you plan on using a torque wrench to attach the hitch to the frame. I think like 4 out the 8 bolts didn’t have enough room for a regular socket. The instructions for where to place the template on the bumper were pretty bad too. The template had a “align with edge of bumper” mark, but also said the cutout should be 15mm from the top of the molded edge on the bumper… you can’t do both so I went 15mm from the top because that’s how it looks in the pictures in instructions. Unfortunately, I think I did my cutout a smidge too high (there’s over an inch above the hitch, and the bottom of the cutout is slightly touching the back of the hitch) but I guess it looks alright. Maybe the TRD bumper is different and that’s where my issue was? submitted by albinochase15 to rav4club [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 05:55 Direct-Caterpillar77 Mysterious reoccurring blood splatter in our bathrooms… is my husband lying to me?
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/Doingokay_ Mysterious reoccurring blood splatter in our bathrooms… is my husband lying to me? Originally posted to
RBI Original Post Mar 16, 2023 Buckle up, this one is a weird one. Since me (24f) and my husband (26m) have moved into our apartment 8 months ago, I have been finding random blood splattering on the walls, cabinets, and floors around our toilets, and once even our bathroom mirror. They’re usually tiny droplets but sometimes they get smeared on the walls or floor, I assume when they’re fresh/wet.
I know that the first suspect would be menstruation blood, however I have not had a period in 2 years thanks to my birth control.
I first noticed it about 3 or 4 months ago. I’ve asked my husband about it and the first few times he would tell me that he had no clue where it came from or how it got there. But after I would clean it up and new ones would appear, I kept would ask him again. Eventually he told me that sometimes when he blows his nose, his nose bleeds and it could be from that. I partially accepted that answer, however I can’t recall a single time where I’ve blown my nose and missed the tissue so much that my snot sprayed all around me? I also mentioned to him that your nose is not supposed to bleed when you blow it and maybe he should see an ENT to see what’s up but he refuses and says it’s fine.
So the cycle continues. I clean up blood droplets and they reappear around our toilets in a matter of days. When I mention them he gets frustrated and short with me and doesn’t want to talk about it. He has doubled down on the “it’s from blowing my nose” thing but I still can’t imagine how 1) he blows his nose so terribly that it sprays snotty blood in every direction and 2) his nose bleeds every day and he’s not concerned about it?
I recently asked him if his nose has always done that. I previously dated somebody with a “thin nose lining” and they once got a massive nose bleed from me doing the “got your nose” thing so I know it’s possible. But he said no, he “doesn’t think” it’s been like that always and then he pressured me to stop the conversation. Also, I would never find blood in our previous house’s bathrooms and we lived there for 4 years.
I’ll add that we have a regular sex life and I’ve seen basically every inch of him and there’s no sign of any cuts or trauma anywhere.
I’m sick of cleaning up blood and I’m also repulsed by the idea that he doesn’t know how to blow his nose without spraying bloody mucous everywhere. I’m also very concerned for him if he really has new nosebleeds every day, as a friend from high school had this happen and he ignored it and it ended up being cancer in his sinus cavities.
So here I am, asking Reddit, what the heck is going on? Is he lying to me? Is it really his nose? If so, why is he suddenly bleeding every day? Why is he so defensive about it? What is going on?!
Edit to answer some FAQs:
• Yes we have pets but the blood shows up only bathrooms, including the guest en suite where the pets are not allowed ever. Those rooms are closed off. No blood anywhere where the pets are allowed.
• I am in control of finances and there is no money missing ever. Both our direct deposits go into our joint account. He has a credit card but the only checking account he has is our joint one.
• He does have hemorrhoids but so do I (thanks Crohns Disease!) and I’ve never gotten blood anywhere but the toilet
• He gets medical anxiety and this could be why he is defensive bc he should probably see a doctor
• He told me that when he goes to the bathroom at night he doesn’t turn any lights on so that he doesn’t wake me (I’m a light sleeper) and when he blows his nose he doesn’t see the blood since it’s dark. He does have pretty bad allergies.
• He has had no behavioral changes since this started
Also adding a comment I made…
“For those suggesting drugs:
I am not dismissing you. I’m getting shamed for “ignoring” the comments suggesting it’s drugs but I’m still absorbing the possibility that it might be and I need TIME. I also can’t just willy-nilly accuse my husband of doing drugs without hard evidence because if I did and he isn’t doing drugs then that’ll put a huge strain on our relationship. If my husband accused me of shooting up in my spare time without evidence I would be pissed. Again, I’m not ignoring you or dismissing your theories, I’m just taking my time because that’s a shocking thing and I need to process the possibility.
So if he were hiding drugs in our tiny apartment, where should I look? I checked inside the toilets. I pulled apart every drawer. Our ceilings are too high for either of us to reach. If you have experience with addiction or living with someone with addiction, please guide me to finding more evidence.”
RELEVANT COMMENTS peyerate
Do y'all have a dog that wags their tail a lot? Definitely a chance they have an injury that bleeds when they happily hit their tail all over the room. Or could be any other animal.
OOP replied
So we do have pets including a dog however I find the blood in both our master bathroom as well as our guest en suite bathroom and the pets aren’t allowed in the guest area. We keep them all shut off.
.
snailhair_j
What sort of frequency does this occur? I'd ask to see how he blows his nose, that way you know a) if it's actually from his nose and b) if it is his nose then you'll see how he's getting it everywhere.
OOP replied
I rage clean the blood at least once a week which means it all appears within a week.
Also in the 6 years we have been together, I’ve never seen him blow his nose aside from the one time he had a sinus infection. And it wasn’t bloody, and it didn’t spray everywhere.
.
VigilanteDetective64
Could he be cheating on you?
Don’t mean to be grim…but period sex can in fact cause blood splatter.
OOP replied
Oof but is he only cheating on my with girls on their periods? Bc it’s literally every week they reappear.
Also I really don’t think he is cheating.
Update May 27, 2023 An update some (probably very few) have been waiting for:
We solved the case of the bloody bathroom.
Now, I know that there will inevitably be some users who truly believe that my husband is discreetly hiding a drug problem despite this update and harass me about it, so I will be no longer using this account after it’s posted.
To preface, I received about 10 DM’s that offered to send pictures of what their, or a loved one’s, blood evidence of shooting up or snorting looked like and I was thankful that literally none of it looked like what I was finding. Those photos, the lack of gaps in our finances, no history of unexplainable personality changes, as well as the fact that I cleaned/searched every inch of our 800-square-foot apartment and found nothing suspicious, solidified my conclusion that it wasn’t drugs. I am pleased to announce that my husband… is just gross.
Before I continue, I’d like to thank those who sent me photos and personal anecdotes of their or their loved one’s drug use and I wish you all peace and good health in your lives.
So obviously it’s been a few months since my post. In that time, I was harassed in my DMs with people calling me ignorant, some suggesting that I divorce my husband based on this wild possibly that he might be using hard drugs. Firstly, if my husband had a drug problem, I wouldn’t leave him lol I’d want to help him; I love him and addiction is a disease and he would need support.
But alas, I found myself searching dark corners of cabinets and furniture crevices for secret drug-hiding spots and found nothing. I sat him down for yet another conversation about the blood and he reassured me he was having nighttime nose bleeds and promised that he would turn on the lights from then on to make sure he cleaned it up because I did not deserve the burden of doing so for him. He lived up to his promise and after that conversation I noticed he was turning the light on when he went to blow his nose at night and the blood drops stopped appearing.
Fast forward to two weeks ago, I was on Instagram and came across a reel that was titled “Signs you’re using your nasal spray wrong”. The very first “sign” was new, unrelenting nose bleeds. The metaphorical lightbulb over my head illuminated, as I remembered that since we moved to a new part of the state, my husband’s allergies have been worse and he started taking flonaise to control it. The time of the blood appearing was about a week and a half after he started taking the nasal spray. I know this because he uses my prescription ever since flonaise came out with a pill version that I like better.
As soon as he came home I showed him the video I saw, which also demonstrated how to properly use nasal sprays (YOU HAVE TO TILT IT!!! NOT shoot it straight up!!!). He took a week off of the flonaise to “reset” his sinuses and last week started using it again, the correct way. And holy cow. He stopped snoring. His voice sounds different. His nose stopped whistling. And thank the lord, he stopped having midnight nose bleeds.
No more blood, but also no more paranoia on my part and he can properly breathe out of his nose for the first time we moved here.
You may be wondering why he didn’t see a doctor when the nosebleeds started, its because we are poor and he has medical anxiety.
But yeah. Case solved!
TLDR: husband wasn’t using hard drugs as the internet suggested, he was using his nasal spray incorrectly.

2023.06.03 04:57 nimmoisa000 Open world crime game idea Cartel: Palm City.
Developed by Hangar 13, DICE, Ripple Effect Studios, EA Gothenburg, and Criterion Games and published by EA.
Additionally former EA Black Box and Ghost Games employees who would help access game assets and code from previous NFS titles to streamline the development)
Cartel (or alternatively as “Cartel: Palm City” or "Cartel: Miami" ) would be an open world title based on the Mafia Games, the GTA games and the Saints Row games, with elements of Battlefield: Hardline thrown in with an array of weapons and vehicles based on their real life counterparts.
Gameplay wise the driving would be like Need for Speed titles, and on foot and shooting mechanics like BF: Hardline and Saints Row. Plus you can customize your cars and weapons to the same extent in BF: 2042 and some cars would allow for mounted weapons,on foot you can execute people with your equipped weapon like in The Godfather games. On foot would be an FPS view (you can change to a third person view as well) same with having an FPS view in your car.
There would an single player experience point system (like in BF Hardline single player) you gain XP from killing gangsters, and cops blowing up or capturing enemy vehicles and completing main missions, side missions and activities also there will be 15 levels to achieve with each level up unlocking new weapons, vehicles and customization for your weapons and vehicles. As well as a New Game Plus (NG+) where everything you unlocked is carried over and you can also play on the higher difficulties through NG+.
Also there would be five wanted levels for police and five vendetta levels for the gangs should you reach level five gang vendetta you start a Gang War there are three ways to stop a Gang War either bribe the feds, blow up a gang stronghold, or hide out in a safe house. Police wanted levels one and two local units would come after the player, at police wanted level two or three the state police would come after the player. At wanted level four and five the feds would come after the player. The military will only come after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard
The Storyline
In Cartel: Palm City; in a different universe and timeline where there's a total prohibition of all narcotics in the United States in 2010; tells the story of Jack Rourke (the player character) a hardworking rideshare driver at day and a street racer at night who's scraping by in Palm City circa 2019. One fateful night, Jack Rourke has an inadvertent brush with the Blackwell Syndicate (mainly Carl Stoddard and that showcases a life of reward too big to ignore. As he joins the Blackwell Syndicate who are fighting for control of Palm City against five other criminal groups and take the city for the Blackwell Syndicate including recovering evidence that could not only convict the Blackwell Syndicate, as well as a network of crime lords in many countries, (including the other gang’s backers) including the Blackwell Syndicate's backers the Mob and it would also directly implicate the CIA in Palm City’s drug trade with Jack Rourke earning the nickname “El Sicario” for his efforts in driving the other gangs out of Palm City. When he learns how much the drugs were hurting the people of Palm City and all over the country as well as learning that the Blackwell Syndicate had gotten into the drug trade themselves, he contacts FBI agent Chase Linh who relays the story to her and offers the evidence and his testimony in exchange for full immunity for him and his associates, and the evidence on the computer was enough to convict everyone form all the five gangs, but also their crime lord backers from at least half a dozen countries, as well implicating the CIA in this as well as lobbying efforts to keep all narcotics prohibited, leading to a new administration repealing the Narcotics Prohibition law and legalizing low level cannabis. However six months later after the repeal of the Narcotics Prohibition Jack Rourke would be gunned down by Russian Mafia hitmen, Dimitri "Dima '' Mayakovsky and Henry "Black" Blackburn.

The Gangs of Palm City
L.S 16 (Los Salmos 16) - Also known as The Salmos. Backed by the most powerful Mexican drug lords and the most powerful arms traffickers in the world, L.S 16 once ruled all of Palm City In fear until The House stepped in. They’re also the strongest gang in the game with access to military grade weapons and vehicles and each gang kill from them awards 500-1,500 XP depending on the enemy type. They are led by Neil Roark.
The House - The House is a gambling gang with strong ties and backed by the Sicilian Mafia; they run the street scene and the casinos in Palm City. They’re pretty strong but weaker than L.S 16, and they have access to military grade weapons and vehicles each gang kills from them awards 250-800 XP depending on the enemy type. Headed by Lina Navarro.
The Volk - The Volk is a Chinese-Russian gang led by Roman Barkov with Niko Barkov as their enforcer backed by the Triads (Chan Wu), the Russian Mob (Dimitri Glebov), and GMAC's crew (Gregory "GMAC" MacDonald, Rose Largo) for cars who control the weapon smuggling and arms dealing in Palm City. With this backing and access to military grade weapons. They are a mid tier gang and each gang kill from them awards 200-600 XP depending on the enemy type. They are also the ones who go after the Blackwell Syndicate the most.
Palm Kings - The Palm Kings (PKs) is a Black gang made up of Black nationalists who controls Palm Harbor’s rackets and extorts store owners. Led by Benny King, they’re equipped with police-grade weaponry and has strong ties with the PCPD despite this, they are the second weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 150-500 XP depending if it's a regular to elite
Dixie Paladins - The Dixie Paladins are a white supremacy gang and a militarized version of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) who controls the Gold Coast Mountains in the mountainous regions of Palm City. they’re the weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 100-250 XP from regular to elite members. They are led by Tony Alpert
Blackwell Syndicate - The Blackwell Syndicate is a underground criminal organization based in Palm City and is led by Marcus Blackwell with Julian “Julius” Little as underboss, Hector Maio before "Code of Silence" and Zack Maio after "Code of Silence". Nick Mendoza. Khai Minh Dao and Carl Stoddard are caporegimes and Tyson Latchford, Tyler "Ty" Morgan, Sean "Mac" McAlister, Jessica "Jess" Miller as soldiers. Other members include Ravindra "Rav" Chaudhry as the gang's car expert Rachel Teller as the gang's customization expert, Marcus “Boomer” Boone as the gang's weapon experts. The Blackwell Syndicate would be the gang that the player would join. In Act 1, they're an outside and fast tracked to soldier, but in Act 2 the player would be a capo until the end of the game. They are secretly backed by both The Mob and the CIA through Agent Dawes. Jonathan Cross and Mia Townsend are also on the gang's payroll until "Bon Appetit" where Marcus Blackwell executes him with a 870P Magnum to the head. Also Mia would also go with Jack Rourke as well
The police/military force
PCPD - the police force of Palm City/Miami if the player does hostile acts (killing civilians, firing unsuppressed weapons in public, etc) will attract police attention and each kill from them awards 50 XP for regular members and 100 XP for armored members, However the player can bribe the PCPD to look the other way or will even help the player fight the other gangs but would be the target of higher level police forces. (Sort of like it was in The Godfather game) The player can also buy favors from them as well. Also they’ll deploy stronger units at higher heat level alongside the FBI. The cars PCPD drives are the Ford Crown Victoria, Dodge Challenger, Pontiac GTO, and the Chevy Grand Sport
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) - The state police force and Only appears in wanted levels 3 and above, Each kill from them awards 75 XP for regular state troopers and 150 XP for tactical state troopers. Regular state troopers drives Ford Mustang GTs tactical state troopers drives Nissan GT-R
FBI - Only appears in wanted level 5 the FBI will be called in if the player continues to retaliate against the PCPD. Each kill from them awards 125 XP for regular agents, 250 XP for FBI SWAT and 375 XP for FBI HRT, Like the PCPD the player can bribe the FBI to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, or the PCPD but at the second highest price. The FBI also has the second widest array of favors the player can buy. regular agents drives the Nissan 350Z or Porsche 911 GT3 RS, FBI SWAT drives the - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster or Ford F-150 SVT Raptor L.E. and FBI HRT drives the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X or Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR
Military - Only goes after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard. Each kill from them awards 200 XP for regs, 400 XP for experienced troops and 600 XP for elite troops. Like the PCPD, State Police and the FBI, the player can bribe the military to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, the PCPD, State Police or even the FBI but at the highest price and The military also has the widest array of favors the player can buy in large part due to Agent Dawes’ connections in Washington.
Multiplayer portion of the game would take place during the five cartels war where the Blackwell Syndicate, The Volk, Palm Kings, Dixie Paldines, Los Salmos 16, and The House (basically where Jack Rourke glosses over saying "It was non-stop chaos for weeks")
Also there would be a free ride mode where the player can explore the city at their leisure or pick a fight with either other cartels or the cops.

We just had our AC installed today and I'm unsure of it was sized correctly. For some context, we live in Ontario, Canada and it was about 27C today. We have had our AC running for about 4 hours now and it's cooled from 80F to 75F in that time.
We just moved into this home which is why we had a new AC installed. Our home is about 2050 sqft, first floor has 9 or 10 foot ceilings and 8 feet in the second floor. We have 14 windows in total in both floors and 2 exterior doors. There are 4 of us living in the home.
I feel as though it is taking very long to cool our home and the second floor doesn't seem to be getting much ventilation. I just looked up the manual j calculation and it seems we would have been better off with a 3 ton AC.
I am a bit disappointed because both Detla Air systems and Advance Heating and Cooling said we should be good with a 2 ton system. Both organizations are highly rated and seemed knowledgeable. Were we wrong in choosing a 2 ton system? If so, is it possible to have Advance Heating and Cooling come back and swap it out for a 3 ton system if we pay the difference in price?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

2023.06.03 04:05 g-rocklobster New lathe, new stand
A few weeks ago, I posted asking for some input/ideas for a new stand/cabinet. I was planning on upgrading my lathe and wanted to have a better stand for it. Purchased the Jet 1221VS when Rockler had their 15% off sale and built the stand for it last weekend.
This wasn't the original plan I intended. Gunflint Design had a good one that was about 5' wide and could accomodate the extension when (if) I decided to get it (he also had the 1221VS). But the design wasn't intended to be mobile and I needed it mobile - at least right now.
I went with one from Fix This Build That. He also has a 1221VS, though it's not wide enough for the extension. I've got a few ideas on how to make one if I decide to get it, but I suspect that by the time I'm ready for an extension, I'll be ready for another upgrade.
Features:
- 5 drawers with full sliders:
- (1) 8 7/8" x 22 5/8"
- (3) 5" x 22 5/8"
- (1) 5" x 17"
- (1) 19 1/8" x 17" cabinet
- 21 1/2" x 42" Laminated double 3/4" plywood top
- 4 locking casters
My prior stand was open on the bottom and I had everything in tubs. Got tired of the dust/shavings getting all over everything. I was able to put everything I had in tubs in the drawers and cabinet with a bunch of room left over.
I've got a few tweaks to make:
- I need to redo the cabinet door. It's all kinds of mucked up (don't keep working past the time your body says it's tired ... I'm lucky it was just an ugly door and not missing fingers)
- I want to build a tool holder for the side so I can easily reach what I need without having to go into the drawer (his video shows a nice one he made that I'll likely mimic)
- I want to do a better job for the shield and respirator hangers. Right now they're just hanging on nails.
- I want to look at maybe building and/or mounting some form of a dust colletor hood behind it. There's plenty of room for that and I have a hood I bought intending to make a down draft table but never did.
It was my first time building any type of cabinet and mistakes were certainly made. Including not realizing that I must've knocked my fence out of alignment a while back and every cut on the first sheet of plywood was between 1/2" and 3/4" off. I spent the better part of an afternoon/evening getting it aligned but still screwed the door up. That one is fully on me - I knew it was late (after midnight and I had been working on it since 9:00a) and that I should have stopped.
Looking forward to using it this weekend!

| Hi! The last two days, I’ve been finding little round pieces of dirt(? like a peppercorn, explode into dust when pressed) in a localized area of my house. Today, found some dead bugs (3/8 inch-ish) on the floor in the same area and also just noticed some possible nest construction (1/2 inch deep, maybe 2 inches wide) on the wall near the ceiling, 25ft up (in a stairwell) Does anyone know what this might be? Bugs look like a silverfish but I read that those are solitary. Thanks! submitted by samanhat to whatbugisthis [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 00:21 themasterpodcaster Water Shielding Complete Enclosure
This post is part two of my plan for a enclosure of basalt rock and water shielding combined. You can use water alone but in general at least its much more effective to use basalt and water together as far as I know.
Part one is here
Basalt Shielding Complete Enclosure
https://www.reddit.com/TargetedEnergyWeapons/comments/13yrfez/basalt_shielding_complete_enclosure_and_frame/
Method One
Sea water is best and Im assuming if you cant get sea water then salt water must be better then normal. Try to make the water as similar to sea water as you can Im guessing.
This uses 1.25 wide 2.33ft tall 15 gallon cylindrical water containers. I'm thinking I need two layers so that I can offset the first with the second layer on the outside. Each container on the outside has its center blocking the spot where the two containers on the inside layer
meet. This makes a wall of water without weakness I hope. The wall needs to be 3.25f so it needs to be taller. On top of these containers on the inside layer of them is a single row of collapsible 5.3 gallons water containers.
I'm thinking Ill put a plywood between them and the containers underneath them so they can be pushed together and fit closely together and so the different diameter doesn't cause them to go off.
The top of the 15 gallon containers has a spot at the top where there's a gap thats a weakness. Im thinking Ill put 1 gallon water bag there perhaps partially empty to make it more malleable and the weight of
the 5 gallon container will hopefully mush it down so it fills in the uneven gaps in the top of the 15 gallon container. In front of the row of 5 gallon containers on top of the 15 gallon containers Ill put a pool tube to help block the weakness on top of the 15 gallon containers.
Ill overlap these pool tubes at the end in order to create a totally unbroken wall of water. Because the wall needs to be little taller Ill add large fomentek water bags at the top. The large fomentek bag has its top 6 inches lying on top of the 5 gallon container
and its held in place by a couple bricks wrapped in tarp or something temporarily. The bags hang down on the inside and overlap hopefully by 6 inches from bag to bag. Then you put 4 3x6x1.25 giant 140 gallon water bags on top of the structure lying perpendicular
to it. They overlap all the water walls by a foot. Then the pool tubes are put over the gaps between them. When there full you slide your hand under and remove the bricks from the water bags if possible. Or the top could be made of water bags.
Method 2
You use 6 or possibly 8 140 gallon water bags for the main wall of water. There 3ft wide, 6ft long and 1.25ft thick. First you position and fill the 15 gallon containers. You put 4 on the outside of every water bag. They weigh 120lb each and the water bag weighs
1100lb. So with 4 on one side weighing almost half as much as the water bag and the basalt and frame wall on the other side it might keep them standing up well enough. They 15 gallons are 2.33ft high and the water bags are 3ft tall standing on there side so tall
enough to hold them up. Putting another 500lb of sandbags on top of the 4 containers might work well if the water containers arnt enough. You position a 15 gallon in front of the spot where two water bags meet and then put a 5.3 gallon container on top so its
as tall as the water bag. You can also put fomenteck water bags over the crack as well if you can make them stay in place. You could two to shield one end and then two each side. The two on the end extend way outside of the actual area your shielding.
The ones on both sides form a tight wall along with the two on the end but then extend of the other side somewhat. The width of the basalt structure is 4.25ft and the length of the water bag is 6ft. So you could push the two that extend from the side of the end over
.85ft each to make room to fit the final end water bag between them. You might be able to overlap the where the waterbags meet on the lengthwise sides as well. There are different sizes you might be able to use to make it fit better. The roof of the water shielding might
bend down .25ft to meet the wall or you could put fomenteck waterbags on top perhaps. Like with the first method you might need to put something light weight on top of the structure to help prop up the water ceiling that the top of the basalt structure is roughly
level with the top of the water wall. This is a nice method in that you be able to set it up quickly because there you dont have to postion a bunch of things carefully. They just start in the position and it will only take a small number of hours for a garden hose to fill all
the containers from what I read. Its also nice because you can keep better track of the small amount of cracks. You could also use 4 inch fence posts and fence post foam or concrete possibly to hold up the water bladders. You could dig it with a 3 inch auger attached
to a well powered drill instead of using a fence post digger, shovel or a real auger. To protect the fomenteck water bags and the 5.3 gallon constrainers the more delicate ones you could use 1 or two layers of heavy cheap moving blankets.
Hopefully this would block pretty decent air guns and stuff that gang stalkers might try to shoot at them and you could protect it with plywood from the most vulnerable direction. Can also protect them from any natural damage. Then you can put a heavy tarp
to help protect them from the sun. Poly tubing might also work for water shielding especially for the roof where there isnt much pressure on it or for shielding cracks but I dont know about how you close them so no idea if it works.
The water shielding can act as an automatic sound barrior as you build I think and while you test the structure.
HOW MANY 15 GALLON WATER CONTAINERS FOR A DOUBLE LAYER AROUND A 9XFT LONG 5FT WIDE BASALT STRUCTURE 6o of them about $10000
9 containers long is 11.25ft nearly long enough to the length of the structure 9 plus 2 containers which is 11.5
18 for first layer on sides
8 for first layer on ends since it takes exactly 4 to equal 5ft and fill in the space
26 for first layer
sides second layer is 22
ends second layer is 12
second layer is 34
total is 60 for double layer 1 height containers costs $1000

HIDING THE STRUCTURE
You could use a pop up gazebo or a more quickly set up greenhouse or possibly a soft storage shed wich is similar if there big enough. You set up the pop up gazebo and then build it inside of it. The gazebo is more respectable and accepted by
landlords and stuff then a big tent or tarp. Put a heavy tarp over the gazebo possibly to protect it from weather and other damage. If the amount of steel or aluminum in it is too much in the gazebo and messes up the shielding you might be able move it off of the
structure with a person or 4 wheeled doly on each leg ( just a random idea).
IMPORTANT TO MOVE WITH URGENCY
The economy will get worse as far as I know and will possibly collapse. Gas prices will rise during the summer at least. Basalt and other materials and items might become less available.
The warm weather will end eventually making it a lot harder to complete a large structure. I certainly feel texteme urgency because of my rapid mental and physical decline and also these reasons.
Also as far as I understand it which is quite limited the world is getting worse and more controling, gang stalking will probably get more alot more empowered and there technology is getting better.
But the best way to move effectively is still to be smart and deliberate to test things as far as I know. It takes time to be smart so you should get started on it.
QUESTIONS
I didnt condense my questions enough i just tried to cover everything mostly even though I must have missed alot of things. I leave it to you to judge what information I need the most and to answer the questions and give other information
in the most helpful way you have time for. What I need urgently is to order my basalt and my water containers and I can figure out the other details as the stuffs on the way. So I need to be able to decide on a rough plan and on a type of basalt so I can order my
basalt. I need to know if water shielding is going to helpful for me and how much water I need.
So I'm trying to block RNM because sinking up there attacks with my thoughts is an incredibly important part of the attacks. I want to block the mental attacks themselves but blocking the RNM will probably be enough to make that stop
by itself. I also need to block them making me feel emotionally numb, low energy, extremely depressed lack a void of happiness chemicals or something and making extremely unintelligent and cant form thoughts. These symptoms all vary at the
same time and seem parts of the same attack. Sometimes when its bad its also very hard to move and I can perceive my body as heavy and stuck and strange. My consciousness is compressed and receads as if I dont exist and I become dethatched
Also reduces anxiety. Happened when I was writing this because speaking about it is a trigger for them and I had to wait for find the words. Other TIs talk about similar symptoms.
These symptoms can all change
an extreme amount in just a second since its artificial and they change based on triggers that hold an emotional charge and significance to my attackers.
So i'm only trying to block them attacking my brain.
How should the basalt be around my body compared to around my head?
How thick should it be around my feet compared to my body?
I think you said that you need it double thick above your head and behind it but in the pictures of your set up it showed 1 full crate above and 1 full crate behind the same as the full crate on either side.
Is it true that you need it double thick above and double thick protection behind while in a prone position?
Why is that? Is above more important just because of the angle of attack or that part of the brain?
Is this also going to be true with me whos not trying to block physical attacks? Will my forehead or face or top of head or both be more vulnerable?
Since all im trying to block are the RNM, mental attacks and perhaps nervous system influence ( just totally guessing about that last comment )
In your photos you have pillowcases with basalt on top of the side crates and back crate covering the crack where they meet the top crate. The pillowcases only give you like 3 inches of protection. How does that actually work to block the crack?
Why dont you need basalt to block the vertical cracks between the crates?
I cant get a good handle on why you dont need 2 crates high 2 crates deep and 3 crates wide with one removed for your head to get the protection.
Why dont you need basalt to block the vertical cracks between the crates?
How much do you think the protection varies by thickness? If you double it or half it how much does the protection multiply or divide?
What's the highest amount you think youve divided the attacks by and what was the weakness that stopped you from dividing it further?
Could I divide it more than that and how?
Do you think RNM and mental attacks will require more or less basalt then physical attacks. They seem to be able to intrude on my mind for reading or attacking to a
very unusual degree and none of my shielding tests have effected it at all for many years although I've done some which might be very strong ones.
WATER SHIELDING QUSTIONS
Do you think I need water with my basalt since it will cost me $1000 or $1500 to $2500? I think i've seen you say it blocks DC heavy pressure. Is that a single type of physical attack or an important aspect of electromagnetism?
What are the chances they could use DC heavy pressure in a mental?
Will all types of attacks be blocked with the combination of basalt and water if you have enough?
is that the magic combination for everyone or just for your physical attacks.
Whats the ratio in thickness of water to basalt for a full shield of water?
How much do you think the amount of time I spend inside it will affect how well it works. Like will spending only 2 hours in it be a lot inferior then being able to spend 24 hours or a week.
What do you think about how to build it?
Do you think it would be ok to use small nail gun nails in the frame since the mainstay bags that you have metal on them?
What are angles of attack and how does it make sense to set up my thicker protection
I need any kind of help you can give me with this project. Iv been working on this plan and this post for 6 to 12 days where the majority of my work everyday was on it. Then other weeks and months
on similar plans and research on making basalt shielding happen. So it takes me forever to do anything even though I labor all day during the time im not recovering from it. It doesnt seem like I'm capable of
taking in the information on what basalt shields and on the measurements and to figure out how to classify my attacks. I had to make a simple summary of the most simple aspects of using basalt and water
to understand it and that must have taken me a day or more of work to piece together different posts and to organize.

2023.06.03 00:19 themasterpodcaster Basalt Shielding Complete Enclosure and Frame
Basalt should be used with water shielding or at least should sometimes. This post is part one of my basalt and water enclosure.
Part 2 Water Shielding Complete enclosure
https://www.reddit.com/TargetedEnergyWeapons/comments/13yri31/water_shielding_complete_enclosure/
HEAVY FRAME .5 THICK WALL WITH EXTRA SPACE
This frame to hold up the ceiling and for safety to keep the basalt walls from collapsing on me. It can also help to hold up the walls of basalt sandbags or poly tubing and can help to keep it straight. It could even help to hold up the water layer and to provide a straight structure for that.
ON THE OUTSIDE
3.17 wide
2.25 ft high frame
7.75 length 5.67ft long for height 1.08 ft for the 6.5 inch thick frame on either end 1fT for .5 thick basalt on either end
and theres a small doorway around foot end which gets filled in and then door is 1.6 high and 2ft wide I guess it gets filled in then other bags are in front of it and overlapping sides and top
INTERIOR
25 inches wide 3.17 on the outside minus 1.08 is 25 inches the walls are 6.5 inches thick with a 5.5 inch 2x6 and two .5 inch pieces of plywood equals 6.5 inches per wall 1.08 total
height 1.51ft high 7.75 inches total almost .67 ft ceiling 7 inches thick a 5.5 inch 6x2 and 2 .75 inch pieces of plywood floor 1 piece of .75 plywood
length 5.67ft
DESCRIPTION OF THE FRAME
I first described what I wanted to to my friend who knows about construction. He told me what the frame needed to be like to be strong enough for high level of safety.
I asked if we could make the part around the head strong since it needs to support 2ft thick of basalt and 1ft thick of water and the part around my body weaker and thin but he
said it will mess it up to build to different frames and connect them. He said its stronger just to build it in the same way with the same dimensions for the entire length of the frame.
Im am being forced against my will to build it with part of the material wasted on surrounding the bigger frame instead of providing thicker protection even though I think its overkill given
my extreme level of desperation and need to go faster.
I think he said that the ceiling would be made with a piece of .75 inch plywood on the outside then 2x6 pieces of wood under it running perpendicular to the long dimension of the structure. The pieces
have the 2 thing part lying against the plywood of the ceiling and the 6 inch dimension sticks down into the box. The Walls are made the same way but with two .5 inch pieces of plywood around the 2x6 pieces.
The pieces stand up vertically. The 2x6 sixes are only either 2 or 4 inches apart I think he said? The floor is one piece of .75 inch plywood to help hold the walls in place to help keep them from shifting out of fully
supporting the ceiling and then stressing the joints more. He said we can build it with plastic bolts to avoid using steel nails or nails made of other metals. This is nice compared to a frame made of mortar and bricks
because we can move it to different places hopefully including for testing at better places. I guess well put holes in the side of the inner plywood walls and ceiling to increase how much air the structure can hold so I can
test it for longer periods. He says that plywood offgasses formaldehyde and I read you cant coat it or wrap it to stop that. So I guess its necessary to use more expensive formaldehyde free plywood.
The shielded person can get on a piece of .75 inch plywood with 4 mill farmers plastic on one side and the floor has greased farmers plastic on it so that the person can be slid into place without needing enough room or
fitness to wriggle in. Someone slides me in without me needing the room to wriggle back and forth or up an down and with less chance of bumping my nose Or you could lie on plywood with thick plastic on one side or OSB which
has a slick surface and the floor would be greased farmer plastic. There is an outline on the plywood and I lie just in the right spot and they push me in.
This design makes it 6 inches wider than my shoulders which I had hope would be enough to wriggle in without really any vertical room despite my body being somewhat messed up and not being able to get exercise.
Now im thinking this give me enough room to be pushed into place but I'm wondering could I get away with only 3 inches extra at the shoulders?
There could be 2 plastic pulleys in the corners and I get pulled instead of pushed in so it's easier.
This structure is supposed to totally surround me in water as well as basalt. Since the water containers wont hold up under the weigh of being underneath the basalt floor and ceiling as well the water has to be inside the frame
with me so that only my weight is on top of it. So Im planning on leaving enough room to have 2 layers of large fomenteck water bags. The two layers mean they will overlap at the seems. Im thinking that each layers bags will
also be stuck to each other with tape to keep them from separating and so they slightly overlap at the edges but without being thicker then the thickest part of the bags. If there isnt enough room for two layers somehow then
the small thinner fomenteck bags could create my two layers or just overlap the seems. The interior is about 1.5ft so two 4 inch thick fomenteck bag high floor will leave 10 inches minus the room for the plywood to slide in on.

THE BASALT LAYER
So this is a a enclosure of basalt thats 6 inches thick for the ceiling, the floor, side walls and the front and back wall. Its a complete enclosure and doorway gets blocked up after Im in it. When I made it like this I was assuming that
there was no way to make a thinner floor anyway but with the poly tubing I might be able to make it 3 or 4 inches thick using a double layer of the smallest poly tubing and save some weight.
CEILING AND FLOOR 32.32 cubic ft 4.17ft wide x 7.75ft long frame is 6.75 plus .5 ft basalt on one side and .5 basalt on the other is 7.75 total
SIDE WALLS 17.44 cubic ft 2.25ft high by 7.75ft long outside of frame is 2.25ft high and i'm defining the walls as the height between the basalt ceiling and floor which is the height of the frame. The walls dont include
the basalt that is over the wall but is above or underneath the level of the frame which can be defined as part of the ceiling or floor.
END WALLS 7.13 cubic ft 2.25ft high by 3.17 ft long The length of the end walls are the distance between the inner surface of the side walls.
say use 4 60lb bags to block the door thoroughly 3 to 2.4 cubic ft
TOTAL
SOLID WALL 59.3 cubic ft to 59.9 cubic ft 60 cubic ft is 2.4 tons tons at 80lb per cubic ft with a solid wall 3 tons at 100lb per cubic ft with solid wall this will really at least a touch less if I make it with bags because there will be some space between the bags
no matter what I do.
POLY TUBING WALL The round shape of the tubing means that the wall won't be solid and will have some of the space empty. Ill say that if I use the tubing it will only use 80 percent of what a totally solid wall will. So if I use two layers of 3 inch tubes of basalt
then the most basalt it can use is 80 percent of a solid wall I think.
Total 60 cubic ft with poly tubing at 80lb a cubic ft is 1.92 tons at at 100lb a cubic ft is 2.4 tons
BRAIN PROTECTION
theres .5 ft of basalt in every direction so Im adding extra basalt to reach the full thickness I want around my brain.
BRAIN PORTECTION 1
ON TOP A 2X2ft square above brain uses 6 cubic extra ft adding 1.5ft thick total to make it 2ft thick altogether. is centered on forehead and the back and of it is about 3 inches away from the back wall of the whole structure.
BEHIND 2X2X2ft total uses 6 cubic ft extra adding 1.5ft thickness The top is level with the rest of the basalt ceiling the bottom is level with the bottom of the TIs brain and is centered on there brain from left to right.
ON THE SIDES 2x2 ft and 1ft thick total uses 4 cubic ft extra for both sides adding .5ft thick Is the same as the behind one but on the sides.
TOTAL is 16 cubic ft solid wall .64 tons at 80lb per cubic ft .8lb tons if 100lb per cubic ft using poly tubing uses .51 tons at 80lb per cubic ft and .64 tons at 100lb per cubic ft
GRAND TOTAL WITH STRUCTURE 2.43 with poly tubing 80lb a cubic ft or 3.04 tons with poly tubing and 100lb per cubic ft
BRAIN PROTECTION 2
this is describing an additional outer wall that fits over the basalt box I already described to bring it up to 1ft thick for part of it.
CEILING AND FLOOR 15.75 cubic ft 5.25ft x 3ft
SIDE WALL 9.75 cubic ft 3.25x 3ft
BACK WALL 13.5 cubic ft 3.25x4.17
total 40 cubic ft added with poly tubing .8 tons at 80lb a cubic ft and 1 ton with 100lb a cubic ft
GRAND TOTAL 2.72 tons with poly tubing 80lb a cubic ft and 3.4 tons with 100lb a cubic ft
BRAIN PROTECTION 3
brain protection 2 with 2x2x2ft above and behind brain total thickness .
GRAND TOTAL2.97 tons with poly tubing 80lb a cubic ft and 3.71 tons with 100lb a cubic ft
HEAVY PROECTION AROUND BRAIN total is 63.5 cubic ft 2.35 tons at 80lb per cubic ft 2.94 at 100lb per cubic ft
4.5 ft high 5ft wide and 3ft long 67.5 total - 12 inside equals 55.5cubic ft total 2 to 2.5 tons roughly
plus 2x2 1ft tall on top and 2x2x1 on side for extra thickness 8 cubic ft total
VERY HEAVY BRAIN PROTECTION
I did a calculation that was for protection around brain that was 4 or 4.5 ft long so my head and body would go into it 1.5 or 2ft.
The entire back wall was 2ft thick the entire celling was 2ft thick the side walls were 1ft thick. It was 4.1 tons but
. Then the section around the body would be reduced since it takes care of all of that part.
If that part is 1ft thick except for the floor which is .5 ft thick then it would weigh 2.5 tons. Total is 6.6 tons.
None of this was with poly tubing.
THIS IS A CYLINDRICAL COMPLETE ENCLOSURE YOU COULD LIVE IN SLEEP OR WORK IN
8x8x8.5 outside
6x6x6 interior
2ft thick celling
.5ft thick floor
1ft thick wall all the way around
9.44 tons at 80lb a cubic ft
11.8 tons at 100lb a cubic ft
LIVING ENCLOSURE WITH BACK WALL
has a 8x8.5x1ft thick back extra wall behind it for two ft thick protection in one direction
adds 2.72 tons at 80lb a cubic ton3.4 tons at 100lb a cubic ton
TOTAL 12.16 tons at 80lb per cubic ton 15.2 tons at 100lb a cubic ft
Im guessing you can have basalt shipped to you or move it yourself for as little as $100 a ton or $200 a ton
The most you should pay even in the worst locations is about $1000 per ton I think
You can get cheaper shipping with bulk orders and perhaps cheaper if you have a buisinsess buy it for you.
So with 15 tons it would take $1500 to $3000 in the best location and $15000 or less in the worst
with half of that at 7.5 tons it would take $750 to $1500 in the best location and $7500 at most in the worst
If a TI had enough money they could even double this protection in the best location.
You haft to figure out how to have it meet the right building codes for earth homes or whatever.
You might help it to stay up and protect it with fence posts cinderblocks and cement or bricks and cement.
If you have sandbags exposed to the sun put a heavy tarp over them to make them last longer.
For the door perhaps you just take out a 18 inch wide 10 inch tall piece at the bottom and put some frame around it
to hold it up and then after you crawl in you block it up with sandbags of basalt. One thing you might use is basalt
blocks as the frame and you might be able to use some kind of mortar based on sand sized criva or to mix criva with mortar.
Solid basalt blocks havnt been tested yet.
So I'm being forced against my will to use only 2 to 4 tons of basalt even though I have been planning on using 6 or 7 tons to get a full foot around my body and 2ft on the top of my head and behind it that takes up that whole surface.
So I can only make it 6 inches thick for most of it. Its a challenge to try and make close to six inches thick instead of a lot more or less than that. Its a challenge to have it overlap and to block the seams between the bags well enough
with only 6 inches thick. Iv heard that full size 14 inch by 26 inch long sandbags are about 6 to 8 inches thick when full. This already might make it much much thicker if it has to be 8 inches and I dont think they could be pushed together
well enough to erase the spaces between them. Im thinking that to block RNM possibly its more important to have a complete protection lass bad weak points in it then with physical attacks Its important for me thinking its a good test at
least ast his thickness. Use the mini sand bags in a double layer for the roof and floor but I'm still somewhat worried about blocking the cracks well enough and I dont know how thick it will be. Since I already ordered a ton of dust I need to
use that so Ill need to put it in large strong enough plastic bags and then put it in the mini sand bags. Or I could just put it in my 6x9 inch 4 mil plastic bags and tape them closed or use zip lock quart, half gallon or gallon bags from the grocery store
possibly. I could use other plastic bags. I could use small plastic bags and do like 3 offset overlapping layers or something. only one of my 3 or 4 tons is dust.
I dont know how it will go for the side walls If i use the mini sandbags it will only be one layer thick and dont know if the spaces between then can be blocked well enough like that. The wall will be 3.25ft tall when you include the ceiling and the floor
as part of the walls height. My friend told me that's as high as you can build with round gravel and non round gravel you can build a 4ft high wall perhaps but that with normal sandbags not mini ones. I will have the plywood frame on one side and
can put water containers holding up a piece of plywood on the other side and stack them between them though. I dont know if this will work well enough.
I had the idea of using poly tubing. This is a tube of 6 mill or less plastic that you can cut and then seal to create bags. You can just buy the roll though. So I could use to layers of 3 inch wide poly tubing running the entire length of the structure to
create first the basalt floor and then the basalt ceiling. They would be offset so that the second layer blocks the cracks in the first. I dont know if you can mush them or leave some out and then flatten them to cover the cracks better.
I could also use 3 layers of 2 inch thick poly tubing with perhaps the middle layer going crossways. Im thinking Ill put a strip of plywood sticking up 6 inches on either side of it so that it can hold in the tubing on the ceiling and keep it from rolling off the side.
Then I can put one extra piece right on top of the plywood divider to cover the gap between the side wall and the ceiling which end at the same height. I dont know how this would work for the walls. I might need the two pieces of plywood on either side. I dont know if
it would be strong enough especially if I use 6 inch wide tubing. I could fit in smaller tubes where two big tubes join each other. You can seal them with twist ties or a heat gun or a might use zip ties. I dont know what works. One benefit of using these is that
instead of a wall of solid basalt, if the tubes end up round then only 75 percent of the space will be full of basalt saving me weight. I dont understand how it isn't a problem to have any empty space in the wall at all though.
If i put my basalt in poly tube bags and it forms a pretty non flexible cylinder then it might not matter much if I use smaller criva or 3/8 to 5/8 buttons in terms of the flexibility. Since part of my structure will only be 6 inches thick though it might be more important
to keep the rocks small and reduce the gaps between them. Also because im making a complete enclosure and trying to put thicker protection around my brain then your 1ft I I will I will hopefully be able to reduce the RNM and attacks on my brain more then you
can reduce your attacks on you head with your set up. Possibly with RNM and mental attacks blocking the cracks matters more I dont know.
6 mil poly tubing different sizes dont know if its good quality

2023.06.03 00:01 ralo_ramone An Otherworldly Scholar [LitRPG, Isekai] - Chapter 9
On today’s episode of ‘Things I never thought would happen to me’, two human-snake hybrids with long snouts and colorful scales cried in my arms. Despite the unsettling texture of their scales, I instinctively hugged them in a vain attempt to comfort them. It took me half a minute to process what was happening.
Elincia worked at an orphanage.
[Awareness]: Of course she does. I ignored the System prompt and focused on the kids crying against my chest. Elincia seemed to be too busy dealing with the seven or eight bawling kids at the same time.
“What happened, sweetie?” I asked, trying to sound reassuring.
The snake girl with shining blue and white scales tried to hold back the tears, and she made it for a brief second, but then she wrapped her arms around my neck and burst into tears again. By the way she trembled, I could tell she was scared.
“Hey, hey. It's okay. Elincia is already here. There is nothing to worry about.” I said, softly patting her back.
My words, as I should have expected, caused the kids to cry even harder. This wasn’t my first rodeo with teary small kids, however, it was my first time holding two snake-human hybrids. I wonder what had happened for the kids to be this distressed, a quick inspection told me they weren’t hurt.
The door opened again and a thin elven kid with fair blonde hair and dark circles around his eyes appeared in the doorway. Just as the rest of the orphans, he was dressed with well-worn oversized clothes. The elven kid was older than the rest of the kids but couldn’t be more than twelve or thirteen years old.
I wondered if he was Elincia’s kid but I quickly discarded that theory, there was no trace of human blood in his appearance. The boy seemed to be a pureblood elf.
“What’s happening, Zaon?” Elincia asked over the generalized bawling and I noticed a trembling in her voice, as if she was also about to burst into tears.
The elven kid walked down the flight of stairs and raised his voice to be heard over the generalized bawling.
“M-m-mister Holst left the orphanage f-five days ago. Ilya and I tried to keep things under control but the small ones were nervous without you around. They thought you were going to be gone forever.” Zaon stuttered.
My heart clenched at hearing the kids had been on their own for a whole week. I understood now why the small ones were so scared. Elincia’s angered voice caught my attention.
“Mister Holst did what?!” Elincia exclaimed and the weeping sound of the kids suddenly died, leaving an awkward silence behind.
“Mister Holst had an imp-p-portant Class breakthrough so he left the orphanage to go to the imperial capital. That was five days ago.” Zaon repeated, stuttering the same syllables. “We took care of the cooking and the bedtime of the small ones. I couldn’t get them to shower, I’m sorry.”
My heart shrunk even further.
“You did well, Zaon. Please take the kids inside, I need to talk to Elincia for a moment.” I said, gently putting the snake-children down. “We’ll be joining you in a moment.” I added seeing the kids didn’t let Elincia go.
Zaon nodded and led the way followed by a dozen reluctant small kids who casted anxious glances at Elincia as they entered the manor. After a moment, we were left alone in the front yard.
“I’m going to fucking kill him, that weasel.” Elincia turned around and walked towards the iron gate.
I grabbed her wrist, she tugged but I didn’t let go.
Elincia’s face was red from anger and her knuckles turned white as she clenched her fists. She had done well hiding her anger from the kids. Adult problems should be dealt with by adults.
“I should’ve known something like this was going to happen. I’m so stupid for trusting Holst.” Elincia covered her face with both hands.
“Who’s Holst?”
“Holst is a Scholar who comes to the orphanage a couple times a week to teach the kids. He had a temper but I thought learning under the guidance of a high level Scholar would help the kids.” Elincia replied. “I was so blind. Of course he didn't care about the kids, he was just cultivating his class!”
I understood the general contempt Elincia showed towards the Scholar class now. Holst sounded like a despicable person.
“The kids are safe and that’s what matters the most.” I said, grabbing Elincia by the shoulders and forcing her to look at me. “You should be proud of yourself, Elincia, your kids faced an emergency and managed to get by. You raised them well.”
Elincia dropped her shoulders and took a deep breath with her eyes closed. When she opened her eyes again, she seemed to have regained her composure.
“You are right… but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to kill Holst if he puts a foot in this orphanage ever again.” She grinned with a wicked smile and I knew she was being serious.
“I’ll lend you my shotgun if you don’t mind cleaning up the aftermath.” I grinned back.
“Gross. I love it.” Elincia laughed, leaving behind the bad feelings and walking to the entrance of the manor. She signaled to follow her. “Welcome to Lowell’s Orphanage. You should call me Miss Elincia while the kids are around.”
I followed her.
The reception room was a spacious area with faded white walls and a tall ceiling, adorned solely with an old couch and a couple of worn out chairs. Square areas of less weathered white paint on the walls showed the places where old paintings had hung long ago. On the opposing wall, a great window overlooked the inner courtyard. I caught a glimpse of a small farm plot, a well, and a small groove.
The whole manor seemed to have seen better days but it felt cozy and welcoming.
“This is our home. And these orphaned children are my family.” Elincia said with a mix of pride and embarrassment. She opened her arms in a gesture that encompassed the entire room.
We left the receiving room behind and Elincia led me to the west wing of the manor into a corridor filled with sunlight. To the right there was the backyard and to the left a row of closed doors. Behind the only open door there was a classroom with rows of small worn-out desks lined up facing a worn-out chalkboard. Over each desk there was an old small wax tablet with their respective styluses.
“That is our schoolroom. It ain’t much but it’s quite handy during cold and rainy days. I try to teach the kids to read and write before they leave the orphanage.” Elincia said as she caught me looking inside.
My brain connected the dots and a sense of sadness got a sudden hold on me.
The Kingdom was at war and those who served as fodder were the least fortunate ones. I wondered how many of Elincia’s orphans ended up in the king’s army fighting in the Farlands to never come back home. But my sadness wasn’t solely aimed at the orphans, Elincia was rowing against a storm in a ship that was sailing to nowhere.
“It looks cozy.” I said.
We turned at the corner and found the harpy girl with the white pillowcase dress slowly walking down the corridor. The wooden floor clacked as she tried to catch up with the rest of the orphans but her talons were too big for her small body, making her steps slow and clumsy. She was more than ten meters behind but seemed unfazed by the matter.
The diminutive harpy saw us walking in her direction and stopped. It was my first time seeing a harpy. Her face was human but a pair of wings covered by golden feathers protruded from her pillowcase dress. She waited patiently for us, blocking the path.
“I haven’t peed myself in five days.” The harpy girl proudly declared, putting her hands on her hips and adopting a defiant pose I had seen in Elincia before.
“Shu, you don’t just…” Elincia looked at me, horrified, and I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
I squatted to Shu’s height and smiled. “You were so brave! I’m sure Miss Rosebud is happy to hear that.”
The harpy girl chuckled.
“You used the forbidden word. You are going to get scolded by Miss Elincia.” Shu hid her face beneath a wing. Before I could say anything else, Elincia grabbed her by the armpits and lifted her, interrupting our conversation.
Was ‘Rosebud’ a forbidden word?
“I’m going to prepare something to eat for the kids, you can wait in the classroom. I’m going to send Zaon over with a water basin.” Elincia said before Shu could add any extra outrageous comment.
Elincia and Shu followed the rest of the orphans and I came back to the classroom. Once alone, I punched the wall with full force, provoking a throbbing pain in my hand. My sadness had turned into anger. Holst was lucky to be away from Farcrest, otherwise I would be tempted to use one of my two remaining shells on him. I didn’t have a drop of sympathy for people who abandoned children.
I entertained myself with macabre fantasies until the left door opened again and Zaon entered the room carrying a large water basin.
“Miss Elincia says you can use her study to wash up. Then you can throw the water to the plants under the window.” Zaon said as he walked back to the corridor.
I followed him until we reached a closed door just by the corner of the corridor.
“This is the living quarters. The small kids sleep in the common room. We, the older ones, have our own rooms.” Zaon explained pointing with the head at the doors further down the living quarters. “This is Miss Elincia’s study.”
As I stepped into Elincia’s study, a floral smell filled my nostrils. The air was thick, as if I had walked into a greenhouse and I couldn’t help but take a deep breath, enjoying the fragrance.
The room was immaculately tiddy. A large bookshelf covered one of the walls and a wide writing desk was situated just under the window. A shabby bed was tucked in a corner with a knitted quilt neatly folded at the foot. On the night table there was a flower vase and a small diary.
[Awareness]: You have entered the forbidden dungeon: Elincia’s Bedroom. The prompt made me stop dead in my tracks but no hidden traps were triggered by my presence.
The lack of knives and hunting trophies hanging from the walls made me think this belonged to the Governess and not the adventure junkie I had met in the woods. A sense of serenity emanated from the room and I understood that, for the orphans, this was a place of peace and safety.
Zaon put the water basin in the corner over a dresser and rummaged through the desk’s drawer. He pulled out a pearlescent soap bar, a threadbare towel, and a change of men's clothes from the chest at the foot of the bed. I wondered who the previous owner was.
“Thank you, Zaon.” I thanked the kid as I sat in a small stool by the water basin and washed my hands and forearms. I had a hundred questions to ask him but I didn’t want to entertain him, Elincia probably needed Zaon’s help to deal with the smaller kids.
Zaon nodded and looked at me with curiosity.
“Speak your mind.” I said, realizing I wasn’t going to get privacy until I answered some questions.
Zaon was startled for a moment but he quickly made up his mind.
“C-c-can I? Really? Who are you? Your accent is strange.” He inquired.
“I am Robert Clarke, a Scholar from a faraway land.” I introduced myself, wondering how much information I should disclose to the kids. Or how much information I could get from them. “I met Miss Rosebud in the Farlands and tagged along on the way back here.”
“Are you here to replace Mister Holst… sir?” Zaon got tangled up in his words, unable to figure out the right amount of deference required to address me. I smiled, trying to seem reassuring.
“This is my first time here in Farcrest so I have to meet the Marquis first. I don’t even know if I could stay.” I replied, deciding to tell Zaon the truth. “Miss Rosebud told me about the Imperial Library, so I’m tempted to go to the capital to cultivate my class.”
The kid nodded in awe. For someone from a backwater town like Farcrest, the imperial capital must be a place of wonder and mystery.
“Miss Elincia doesn’t like to be called that.” Zaon pointed out.
“Rosebud?”
“Yes.”
“I think it's a charming name.” I shrugged my shoulders thinking it was too much of a cute name for someone as tough as Elincia.
I waited for a moment, expecting a sassy System prompt to slap me on the face but none appeared. Good. The last thing I needed was more titles about my politically incorrect thoughts. Zaon looked around, as if there were spies somewhere between the walls, before continuing talking.
“I think that too, sir. A truly charming elven name.” Zaon muttered full of pride but suddenly he seemed to realize he had overextended his stay. “I’m not taking more of your time, sir.” He politely added as he left the room at a quick pace.
Finding the key inside the hole, I locked the door before taking my shirt off, and started scrubbing my body. The soap was the size of a small stack of coins and it didn’t produce much foam but it was more than enough after all those days trekking through the Farlands. It felt good to be clean once again. My old shirt was ruined after my adventure in the forest so the new one felt nice even if it was a bit oversized and the fabric coarser.
When I was finished, I opened the window and discarded the dirty water on the clump of bushes and flowers that adorned the mansion’s exterior. Then I unlocked the door and returned to the classroom feeling like a new man.
As I was sitting in the classroom, I saw a group of kids spying on me from the corridor’s windows. I acted like I hadn't seen them. Instead, I let them quench their curiosity while I mindlessly drew doodles on a wax tablet. Zaon probably already informed the rest of the orphans about my identity.
“Here you are.” Elincia said with a tired voice as she stood on the doorway. She carried a tray with a wooden bowl filled with steamy soup. “Scared of being alone in a girl’s bedroom?”
I was about to make a snarky remark when I remembered the kids spying on us. Elincia seemed to notice too because she quickly added. “Shall we discuss our deal in my study?”
I followed Elincia into her bedroom and she invited me to sit at the timeworn desk. Then, she handed me a bowl of soup and a piece of old bread. The soup had a few pieces of vegetables floating on the surface similar to carrots and potatoes. I did what any logical person would’ve done.
Elincia’s Vegetable Soup. [Identify] Edible. A watery, bland, and unseasoned soup made from various donated ingredients. It’s warm. Luckily enough, Elincia didn’t realize I was using [Identify] on her soup. I put the spoon in my mouth. The flavor was indeed watery and bland but it was the first warm food I had since I arrived in this world, and it felt great. As I dipped the bread into the soup, Elincia untied her padded jacket, revealing a white blouse and a washed out light blue bodice that adhered to her figure.
I wasn’t completely ready for some Renaissance Fair action but I managed to keep my eyes glued to the bowl of soup. Elincia stretched her back and rotated her shoulders with feline grace before settling on the chair.
“You look good disguised as a governess, I almost bought it.” I said, fighting to keep my eyes away from Elincia’s delicate yet strong shoulders. If I didn’t know better, I would swear Elincia had a twin sister that looked after the orphanage while she explored the Farlands.
Elincia looked around as if there were spies in the walls before replying.
“Fuck off, Robert Clarke.” The woman whispered, rolling her eyes. “And thank you for helping me with the kids. You navigated the situation pretty well.” She added in an almost shy tone.
“Didn’t I say I was a teaching focused Scholar?” I replied with a smug voice.
“Yeah, I remember hearing an excuse like that for your lack of level.” Elincia grinned. “Now, show me the goods, I have a sick kid waiting for a potion.”
I brought my backpack I had left forgotten in the corner and started lining the bundles of herbs and roots over Elincia’s working desk.
“When you told me you had a sick kid I thought you meant your son or daughter.” I pointed out.
“Yeah, no. I already have enough kids around.” Elincia laughed as her eyes greedily pried over my alchemical loot.
I wondered if one of her skills allowed her to measure the herb’s magic concentration. Something like [Identify] but for Alchemists.
“Not to mention I’d need a man for that. A good one for that matter.” Elincia added.
“You don't have an army of volunteers lining up at the orphanage’s doors?” I jokingly asked. With her looks, she could have a fan club following her everywhere back on Earth.
Suddenly, Elincia forgot about the ingredients and locked her eyes with mine.
“Oh? Mister Scholar is interested in my relationship status now?” She gave me the biggest shit-eating grin I had seen in my life. And that was a lot to say considering Elincia’s mischievous personality.
“Dream on.” I quickly replied. Elincia’s big mouth made it difficult to feel bad for her.

2023.06.02 23:18 normadezmonds the pile of laundry on my floor is trying to eat me.
I know this sounds crazy. Shut up. I get it. I’ve heard it all before: “what are you talking about?” “You’re insane.” “This is why you shouldn’t do molly before your brain finishes developing.” My friends don’t believe me. My parents don’t believe me. My therapist doesn’t believe me. And I don’t blame them. I didn’t believe me either, at first. Maybe I still don’t. There’s no moral here; this isn’t some cautionary tale about the importance of keeping clean. If it were, it’d be the sickest, most twisted way to teach someone to fold their stupid clothes.
I normally fold my laundry. I do. I’m not a slob! I hate walking into my bedroom and seeing clothes on the floor. I hate it, seriously! I don’t believe in it, don’t subscribe to it, and don’t condone it. The floor could be as clean as a freshly zamboni’d ice rink, but the second my clothes touch it they instantly get dirty – coated in lint, dust, and grime that latch onto my shirts and underwear like leeches.
But no one’s perfect. I’m not an idiot, ok? I’m a realist. I’m an adult. I slip up sometimes. A bit of depression here, a dash of anxiety there, and suddenly I don’t feel like folding that huge lump of clothes the exact second the dryer vomits them out. In those cases, I put the pile on my desk chair, and I wait a few days. I go to work, I run my errands, I wash my face, and, whatever – you get the gist. Eventually, I work up the courage to square up to that foul fabric beast and tear it apart, devoting twenty minutes to folding and putting away every single piece of clothing until my room is back to its normal, serene state. This cycle is a perfectly normal part of the monotonous yet inconsistent ebb and flow that is adulthood, and I’m not going to put myself on trial for occasionally succumbing to it. Well, the last load of laundry I did was a particularly big one. Massive, actually. So big I thought the washing machine drum would break off its axle, spin out into my kitchen, and crash through a wall. After the clothes dried, I let them sit in the machine for a few days because taking them out proved too daunting a task (and yes, I opened the dryer door a bit so the clothes could air out. I’m not an idiot).
Eventually, I worked up the courage to extract the atrocious textile pile and take it to my room for folding. The pile was too big and too heavy to fit on my chair, so I threw it on the ground. I know, I know – I’m wincing at the thought. But I had too. It was enormous. At the time, folding felt like too herculean a task to do in that moment. So I waited a day. And another day. And another. I went to work, I ran my errands, I washed my face. By then, a week had gone by, and the pile was still there, on the floor at the foot of my bed. I went to bed that night promising myself I would deal with it in the morning.
Well, girls and boys, I didn’t deal with it. That day I did nothing; I did nothing but go to work, run my errands, and wash my face. And that evening I opened a beer, plopped my ass on the couch, and watched “New Girl.” I hate that show. I despise that show. But I watch reruns when my body is tired but my mind is awake; when I need something to dull my brain until it meets my body halfway on that miserable road to exhaustion.
When I crawled into bed that night, the laundry pile was still there, obviously. A sock was sticking out and touching the foot of my bed. It was funny, though, because I didn’t remember the pile physically touching my bed the night before. But who really remembers things like that, anyway? I figured the pile must have come apart a bit due to vibrations in the floor when I walked -- gravity, or something. It was a bulbous, globular, uneven stack of clothes, for fuck’s sake. I know this sounds silly – it’s just that my first thought when I saw the pile had shifted slightly towards my bed wasn’t that it was actively moving towards me.
I have bad dreams often, but that night’s was especially bad. I dreamt I stepped into an enormous bowl of pancake batter and couldn’t get out. I sunk into the batter, slowly, tortuously, inch by inch, until the beige mass globbed onto my face. Just as it covered my eyes and stuck them shut, I suddenly woke up with a shooting pain in my foot. The pain was almost indescribable: a burning, almost acidic sensation. It subsided immediately the moment I woke up and drew my legs up to my chest, curling into the fetal position and rubbing my foot until my mind coaxed itself to sleep. When I woke up that morning, my thoughts returned to that brief pain in my foot. I almost couldn’t even remember if it had been a dream or not. Until I looked at my foot. The top half of my left sole was a patchy red color. I grabbed hold of the foot and held it up as close to my face as my inflexible body could manage. My brow furrowed in disgust. I had the same expression in my face as when I was sixteen and riddled with acne and would pop an innocuous-looking zit, only for it to erupt and bukkake my mirror with an egregious quantity of pus. My disgust, however, then morphed into an acute sense of unease. Because there, in the center of this rosy patch on my foot, were four small indentations. They were deep in my skin, as far as you can press down on flesh before drawing blood. Each mark was parallel to the other. Bite marks.
I looked at my foot, then at the foot of my bed (no pun intended), where the pile of laundry sat. Then back at my foot. Then back at the pile. Something about it was different now. I swear it, suddenly it looked a bit more ominous, more looming, more… big. Yes, it was bigger. It had taken on a new color, too. A pair of jeans, my rainbow socks, and a Grand Theft Auto 5 T-shirt that I hadn’t seen before on the top of the pile were now sticking out, looking right at me. It’s strange; you don’t expect a pile of clothes to activate your fight or flight response, but looking back on that moment now, even if my conscience didn’t register it at the time, I was afraid.
I got up, got dressed with whatever clothes remained in my closet away from the pile (not much), and shut my bedroom door. I went to work that day, I ran errands, I washed my face. I went home. I changed clothes. As I changed, I stared at the pile. Now there wasn’t just a single sock touching the foot of the bed – now many, many socks were pressed against it, reaching out like little white hands of cotton. In fact, the whole pile seemed to be pushing its weight against my bed. But, like I said earlier, this was not something I consciously decided to worry about in that moment. It’s a pile of laundry, for fuck’s sake. I walked into the living room and shut the door behind me. I decided then that that night I would finally dismantle the pile and fold each and every piece of clothing. But not right then. My buddy Sam was coming over any second to have a beer and watch “New Girl.”
He got to my place twenty minutes later than he was supposed to, and when I opened the door four little legs trotted in with him. “This is Clarence!” he said with that bizarrely prideful tone in his voice that new dog owners sometimes have. It’s the same tone new mothers have, but since, as far as I know, humans are not physically capable of giving birth to chihuahuas, the tone in this case is always completely unwarranted. But I digress -- I was a little pissed, to say the least. Sam hadn’t asked if it was ok to bring Clarence. We were about five minutes into a random episode I had rouletted from season three when Clarence started yapping. I peeled my eyes off the screen and suddenly realized he wasn’t on the couch with us anymore. Indeed, he was standing right in front of my closed bedroom door, howling into the air and clawing at the wood. “Yo, Clare! Shut up!” Sam yelled as he paused the TV and sauntered over to Clarence. My first thought was Is "Clare" really a nickname for Clarence? My second thought was Oh my god. Do not let Clarence into that room.
“NO!” I blurted out.
“Huh?” Sam grunted as he turned to look at me with that big stupid face of his. Clarence kept barking.
“You… you can’t go in there,” I stammered. “It’s messy.” I straightened myself up.
Sam scoffed. “You got dead bodies in there or something?” He looked at Clarence, who refused to let up. “Something’s bothering him.”
“I can see that, but –“
Sam laughed, put his hand on the knob and started to turn.
“NO!” I screamed again. Clarence stopped barking that time. Sam took his hand off the knob.
“I told you. Don’t go in my room,” I chided.
“Dude. You… you don’t actually have dead bodies in there, do you?” Sam asked as his smile gradually disappeared.
I sighed. “Jesus Christ. Of course not! It… it’s just messy. Super messy. Like, so messy. It’s embarrassed.”
“OK. But now I feel like, as your friend, I have a responsibility to check. Just to make sure…”
“OK, well, I told you, you can’t go into my room.”
“… just to make sure you don’t have any dead bodies in there.”
“I DON’T HAVE ANY DEAD FUCKING BODIES IN MY ROOM!” My face went purple with rage.
“Well now you’re reacting as if you have a dead body in your room.” I sighed and rubbed my forehead. He had a point. “Ok. You can look inside… just… can you pick Clarence up first?”
Sam looked at me weirdly, but then quickly accepted this one condition and picked the little hairy sausage up. He grabbed the knob and turned. I held my breath as he looked inside.
“Oh my god. Dude. What the shit?”
“What? What?” I raced to the door and peered inside. The room was more or less the same as it had been that morning. Well, except for the laundry pile had…
“You should really fold your laundry, dude.”
… doubled in size. It was massive, over half the height of the room now, spilling across my bed. I started to shake. How was this happening? What was happening? There were more clothes in the pile now than I had ever owned in my entire life. And, I suddenly realized, I was no longer able to recognize the clothes themselves. While before I could clearly identify individual pieces within the pile – my red plaid boxers, my cargo shorts, a lone Nike sock – the mass now took on an abstract and mind-boggling shape. It was as if the clothes had stretched, twisted, even fused themselves together. Clashing colors bled into each other like watercolors. Disparate textures met at messy seams like some sort of scratchy, monstrous quilt.
Sam, clearly not understanding the apparent danger of this… this thing in my room, took a step forward.
“NO!” I blurted out. I said that a lot that night. And I would say it again soon.
“What is going on with you, man?” A condescending smile curled over that idiot’s lips. I couldn’t even begin to tell him. It was all too ridiculous. And yet, I had never been so terrified.
“Do you wanna go on a walk? Let’s go on a walk.”
“Huh?” Sam said with that stupid, stupid face of his cocked at such a severe angle it looked like his neck would snap in half.
My eyes turned to Clarence, who was still in Sam’s clutches and staring at the pile with wide, terrified eyes. “He hasn’t peed in a while. Let’s take him outside! Let’s take him for a walk!” I pleaded.
Sam looked at Clarence, who didn’t even register his dear owner’s gaze. His eyes were locked on the pile. He was trembling.
“Eh. He’s fine! You really should fold your laundry, though. I’ll help.” He walked towards the pile.
“NO!”
“OK, can you calm the actual fuck down, dude?” He turned to me again. Clarence squirmed in his arms. He whimpered and gnawed at the air, his little black eyes as if pleading, "let me down. Let me go."
“What the fuck, Clare?” Clarence managed to wiggle his way out of Sam’s grasp and hit the floor like a billiard ball. Immediately he twisted himself onto his feet and scurried out of the room.
“Maybe he does have to pee,” Sam wondered aloud. I sighed with relief.
“Yes! Let’s go!”
“But first we gotta deal with this.” He turned back to the pile.
“Later, Sam. Please.”
“Nah, bro. This is insane. It’s one thing to put off chores for a couple days, but this… this is mental illness,” He crouched down, right next to the pile, and reached out. “I can’t let you live like this -- ”
Then there was movement. A flash of color. A sudden jerk. A lunge. Of polyester and cotton and wool and linen. A brief yelp -- “oh!”-- managed to escape Sam’s lips just before the pile swallowed him whole.
I stood there like an idiot, frozen in terror as the pile contorted and undulated with Sam inside, re-arranging his big body like a snake swallowing a deer. The most vile and disturbing sounds I’ve ever heard accompanied Sam’s muted screams from inside: tearing, crunching, dissolving, guzzling. Sam let out one final blood-curdling scream before a nauseating POP rang out and everything went quiet. The pile was still now. A putrid smell filled the air, like the smell of raw chicken left out to rot on a hot concrete patio. Death.
Then, right before my eyes, the pile began to grow, metastasizing with new lumps of fabric sprouting in all directions. The smell got thicker and heavier with each inch the pile grew. It wasn’t until it reached the ceiling that I was able to rouse myself from my shock and I turned and ran out of the room. I grabbed Clarence, who had been scratching pathetically at my front door in a desperate bid to escape, and fled my apartment. I ran down the street. I ran down the block. I just ran. I ran for hours, in no particular direction, with Clarence in my arms.
It’s been two weeks. I’m writing this now from a motel room. I don’t know what motel it is. I ran into the first one I came across and haven’t left since. Clarence is fast asleep on the bed. He’s ugly and annoying, but I’ve found myself yelling “Clare!” when I want to get his attention. I haven’t been back to my apartment since that day. I’m never going back. I don’t want to know what’s in there, how much bigger it’s become.
I’m still wearing the same clothes from that day. My shirt and pants are heavy with sweat. I smell like shit. But it’s fine because I’m not changing my clothes. I’m not cleaning my clothes, either. Maybe I will, one day. Not for a long time, though. And if I do ever get around to it, I swear to God -- I’m folding them immediately.

I am buying mens shoes. Im also 5'1
Would I be 8.5 in mens or womens, the shoes are online only and I could return for different sizes but wanna try to get it right first go.
my shoes now are hand me downs from a 6'1 cis guy and theyre size 11 so big on me. They fit good and comfortably but make my feet look very unproportionate to my body and theres a pretty noticeable gap between my toes and top of the shoes.

2023.06.02 21:20 Simon_Drake What could a theoretical 'cold beam' really accomplish?
A common tool in scifi / comic books is the 'cold beam', either as a gun or a superpower. And usually you can do things that don't just stomp on the laws of physics, they riverdance on the laws of physics. A regular room or street with no overt sources of humidity has enough moisture in the air to condense out and freeze into 8-foot high walls of ice to completely block someone's path. Or a flowing river / lake can be frozen solid into an ice-bridge in a matter of seconds, perhaps 3 seconds to make the first portion and 1 second for each additional ~20 meter section of bridge.
That's just not realistic. Heating up water can be scaled up: If one person shoots a raygun or heat beam of 500 degrees C into a river it will heat up, then someone else shoots a beam of 1,000 degrees C and it'll heat up faster. If you want to instantly boil a river into steam such that the bare riverbed is exposed downstream and a waterfall dries up, then you just need a hotter heat beam. If 1,000 degrees isn't able to heat that much water that quickly then use a heat beam of 50,000 degrees which should heat the water ~100x as fast as the 500 degree heat beam.
But cold doesn't work that way. Apart from the fact there's no such thing as a 'cold beam' there's a cap at how quickly you can cool something down just because there's a limit at how far away from room temperature you can go. If someone has a firehose of cryogenic liquid propane at -42 degrees C it will cool anything it touches. Then someone else has a firehose of cryogenic liquid nitrogen at -200 degrees C, it will cool anything it touches AND do it about 5x as fast as the liquid propane jet. But with the heat beam we were able to go up to 50,000 degrees and heat ~100x as fast, or you could go even hotter and heat even faster. But you can't use something 100x colder than liquid nitrogen because you'll reach absolute zero. If the liquid propane hose can only freeze X litres of water per second then the best you can get is liquid helium which is ~6x as cold and therefore freezes ~6 times as much water per second.
This is some back-of-an-envelope thermodynamics calculations but the basis is solid, the rate of heat transfer is directly proportional to the difference in temperatures. If your heat beam is ~50,000 degrees hotter than the target then it'll heat up really really fast, if your cold beam can never be more than ~300 degrees colder than the target then there's a cap at how quickly it can cool down.
So there's no such thing as a cold beam but lets imagine you have an insulated firehose that can somehow produce cryogenic liquid helium at whatever flow-rate a firehose has, google says ~30 Litres/minute. And lets simplify this and pretend the boiling gaseous helium instantly vanishes so you don't need to worry about powerful airflow of boiling gas coming off whatever it is you're trying to freeze. I think we can agree you can't just summon an 8-foot tall wall of ice to block a corridor just using the ambient humidity in a regular house, there's just not that much moisture in there air. But could you freeze a lake enough to walk on an ice bridge? How long would it take to freeze a layer thick enough to walk on? Could you freeze a river or would the flow carry away your half-frozen ice bridge before it's big enough to anchor to the riverbank/riverbed?
