2023.03.29 12:11 Puzzleheaded_Pear696 Dear Americans - An outsider's view on your gun control
| Dear Americans, it is that time again. Something so terrible, tragic, and unthinkable has happened, that left you and the rest of the world in shock, as we stare at those six faces at the news. Those six faces, that will never return home again. While the community mourns, arguments start on social media and you are divided between those, that demand more gun control, and those, that defend your right to bear arms. Meanwhile, the world watches. I would like to show you, what this looks like from an outsider's perspective. So please take your time and bear with me. In text mentions the following topics, that may be triggering to some: gun violence, shootings, explosives, brief mention of suicide in statistics __________________________________________________________________________________ It is the year 2023 on Earth II, an almost exact replica of earth as you know it. I live in the United Federation Acirema, or UFA for short. UFA has a population of roughly 300 million citizens and is centered on the core values of freedom and individualism. They are the greatest country on Earth II and criticise those, that limit people's rights, by forbidding them to own things that allow everyone to defend themselves in case of attacks, crime, or a revolt of the government. Among these is the right to own and carry guns. And bombs. The other countries of Earth II heavily criticise UFA because of this, but the United Federation is adamant about not restricting this right, which is anchored in their constitution. Supporters of this right, like myself, argue, that without the right to build, buy, carry, and use explosive devices in a situation where they would protect themselves, their core freedom would be lost. After all, bombs themselves don't kill people. People kill people. If they ban bombs or control the sale and storage of bombs, then people would still kill people, just with knives. And we would all agree, that banning knives makes no sense. Most people that own bombs, like me, use them for personal protection. We buy alarm systems with integrated explosive devices, used to protect ourselves against burglars. Others also carry grenades to defend themselves if they are attacked. The second largest group of stakeholders on the pro side are fishers, who use small detonators to fish, both as a way of feeding their families and as a sport. Speaking of sports, various clubs also host competitions in speed-building (the fastest person to assemble a working explosive device) and accuracy (both throwing and also judging the impact). There are also bomb suits fun runs, which are always the highligh of my year, as they promote bomb safety! source: https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/114531/eod-technicians-run-5k-in-bomb-suits-for-good-cause/ There are, however, some tragic cases of a child finding their mother's self-defense grenade in her purse and accidentally detonating it, thinking it was a toy. However, these cases barely happen and after all, it is purely the parent's fault. I mean everyone with enough common sense would be more careful. So I don't have to worry about it, they messed up and it will never happen to me. Sometimes, there are also cases of someone blowing up a mall or a school. I have to admit, that scares me a little more. However, if you actually look into why this happened, the problem was not that the criminal had a bomb. After all, there are plenty of peaceful, law-abiding enthusiasts of explosive devices, like myself. In every case, the bomber had a mental illness or no support system, so if we just try offer better support, this would not happen anymore. After all, bombs don't kill people. People kill people. To offer better protection, The school in my town now has metal scanners, heavy steel doors, and ex-bomb squad members on staff. Teachers are also taught how to disarm a bomb if they find one and the school has a cell signal jammer, so no bombs can be detonated remotely. This makes me feel a lot safer sending my kids there. However, to be honest, the best way would be to just arm teachers with grenades as well, so my daughter is kept safe. Some people say, that we should just ban bombs. But I have a bomb and nothing ever happened to me. I have several even, some for self-defense, then the one linked to my alarm system, and some historic models. So clearly, safe bomb ownership is possible. The problem is, that people aren't taught how to handle bombs properly. And illegal bombs of course. All of mine were legally bought at the supermarket around the corner. Also, if people were ever to rise up or the government would abolish democracy, we can defend ourselves and make sure that our democracy and freedom cannot be destroyed. So clearly, they serve an important purpose. I know, that there are about forty thousand people a year, that die because of bombs. But that number is just hyped up, because over 60% are suicides anyway, and they would happen no matter what. And the other deaths would happen too, we would just see an increase in knife fights. So bombs are not the issue. In addition, banning bombs at this point is pretty impossible. It's just a way for the manufacturers of safes and other storing methods to make more money off of us. And, as I said, the main problems are the illegal bombs anyway, controlling us legal explosive enthusiasts would not solve anything anyway. By this point, bombs are so common, that the best way is just to teach people how to use them, maybe be stricter with illegal bomb ownership, but that's it. I'm proud to be an Acirema and proud of my rights and freedoms, which no other country on Earth II can even come close to. source: source: https://www.shutterstock.com/de/image-photo/hand-child-picks-check-bomb-little-1488466070 __________________________________________________________________________________ Feeling a bit uneasy about the text? That is how the rest of the world feels about the idea of handling guns the way you do. Of course, it is difficult to compare weapons of mass destruction and guns. However, in 2019 sixteen people in the US died of explosions and eighty-six were injured (mainly due to accidents like fireworks or gas leaks). There were 251 bombing incidents in the US in that year. Also in 2019, there were 39,707 gun deaths (of that 14,414 homicides) in the US. almost four thousand of them were children. Compared to the EU, which has about 6,400 gun deaths per year, of that 1000 homicides. And that with a far bigger population (USA: 332 Million, EU: 447 Million). You might call me unreasonable to make this comparison. After all, you can't just get a bomb and walk around with it. If you think that, just reread the last sentence and think about it for a minute. The thing is, I know that the world I just describes is completely unreasonable. Like, imagine going to university and someone sitting next to you with a suicide vest. See, that is how we feel when we think about students legally bringing guns into the classroom. That is why we look at you in disbelief when you sell guns legally in a target with little to no background check and so on. Please use this thread to ask any lawn care questions that you may have. There are no stupid questions. This includes weed, fungus, insect, and grass identification. For help on asking a question, please refer to the "How to Get the Most out of Your Post" section at the top of the sidebar.
Check out the sidebar if you're interested in more information on plant hardiness zones, identifying problems, weed control, fertilizer, establishing grass, and organic methods. Also, you may contact your local Cooperative Extension Service for local info.
How to Get the Most out of Your Post: Include a photo of the problem. You can upload to imgur.com for free and it's easy to do. One photo should contain enough information for people to understand the immediate area around the problem (dense shade, extremely sloped, etc.). Other photos should include close-ups of the grass or weed in question: such as this, this, or this. The more photos or context to the situation will help us identify the problem and propose some solutions.

2023.03.29 12:00 BM2018Bot Daily Discussion Thread: March 29, 2023
Recent special elections have resulted in Democrats overperforming expectations by a ton! Between Dems getting things done while in power, and the GOP going in an increasingly scary direction, voters can tell which party is looking out for them. Now our job is to get every voter to show up, every election.
Besides our well-known
volunteer from home spreadsheet and weekly volunteer posts, we have some new initiatives to help you support Democrats across the country! Read on and sign up:
Introducing Campaign Central: a VoteDem VAN alternative project to help local campaigns organize! Running for office is a major undertaking, and like any great journey, the first step is often the hardest. Our goal at VoteDem is to lower that barrier by developing a campaigning tool we can
freely offer as a service to Democrats across the country. Campaign Central is a web-based platform that can load voter registration data, organize phone banking, text banking, canvassing, and much more! But to run this project, we need your help. We need volunteers to collect and upload voter registration data once per month (instructions provided), and a Python developer (preferably with experience using Odoo) to help build these tools.
Sign up for a state
Interested in helping us develop the program?
Send us a modmail describing relevant Python experience.
Adopt A Candidate is Returning! Yup - we are continuing our Adopt a Candidate operations. For the moment, we’re largely focusing on upcoming special elections until the primaries for the November elections are finished.
When you adopt a candidate, you commit to volunteering for them at least once a week - in person or from home. Your efforts now could make the difference as these races will likely be very close and have generally lower turnout!
If you’d like to adopt one of these candidates, reply in this thread or
send us a modmail. You can adopt a candidate not on this list if you wish, too. Just let us know!

We’re looking for graphic artists and folks that understand how to run social media! While we all like to jest that the mod team is able to do anything and everything, we have limitations. We are currently looking for individuals with knowledge and skill in creating Graphic Art as a way to further the community's image. Our main priority would be aiding in creating graphics
akin to the following design that we’ve used for AMA guests.
We are also looking for someone that is more knowledgeable in how to properly create a social media following/interact in the social media spaces to effectively operate them. The mod team is not particularly knowledgeable, nor do we have the time to properly utilize those tools.
If you are interested in volunteering forhelping with either position,
please send us a modmail and we will continue the conversation from that point. Note: neither of these positions are paid and would be done on a purely volunteer role.
Let’s make sure that the GOP knows the true power of grassroots action!

2023.03.29 11:40 According-Relation-4 Star trek Picard S3 is amazing
Alright, you're probably tired of seeing this kind of posts, but it's exactly this kind of posts that convinced me to give it a try.
Went into it expecting it wouldn't be as good as they say, but man, it blew me away. I just wanted to write down a few thoughts and see if you agree. Here goes:
It manages to criticize the old characters and their actions, all the while treating them with respect, honouring them and elevating them. It has a lot of themes about parenthood, family, loss, legacy, history... Many emotional moments.
All the while being a good space adventure where the future of the federation hangs on the line. And it doesn't feel forced at all. No "you're the only ship in range" or some new threat they pull out of their asses.
It builds organically from the events on the events of all the other star trek series, especially from the events of DS9. It brings all of it into a coherent universe that makes sense.
Shit gets done with minimal technobabble, which leaves more time to focus on character and story.
They show things the fans will recognise, on the verge of being fanservicy, but it's done fast, and they don't hit you over the head with it. To the point I had to freeze screen to see it properly.
At the same time, what you need to know is still explained to you simply and quickly, to bring bon fans up to speed. So I thing its still welcoming to new people coming into star trek. That I noticed there has only been one "as you know...", But a few occurrences of a character responding "I know what it is" to something being explained to them. Those lines really feel like they are there for the benefit of the audience, but it doesn't happen too much.
I do recognise that the ship interiors are generally a bit dark, but that doesn't bother me as much as their weapons sounding an aweful lot like modern rifles. I roll my eyes at you, sound design. But these feel more like nitpicks, and didn't spoil my enjoyment of it.
All in all, I was a bit iffy at the start but loved the 6 episodes that are out right now. I just hope that they don't ruin it from here.
TLDR: Picard S3 is a fun space adventure that respects what came before and adds to it.

2023.03.29 11:31 WarmStew23 The War of Tears - Chapter 2
File - Journal Entry Report - Elias Dexter
Species - Human
Date Stamp - December 2, 3023, Standard Union Time
Location - TAS LockHaven, in deep space
The Union accepted our plea for a war declaration. We should have been happy, right? The truth is none of us were happy. Video footage of the Grim’s attack on our expedition spread through the Union media like a wildfire. It was practically impossible not to see it. The Union stated there was going to be a mandatory draft. Something like that didn’t affect us, the Terran Alliance had already met their quota within a week after the draft announcement.
I was already a First Lieutenant in the Terran Alliance’s Army, so any draft already didn’t apply to me. It just meant the most likely scenario was our immediate deployment into no man's land. The Terran Alliance, or TA for short, wasted no time drawing up battle plans. While the rest of the Union drafted and trained their militaries, the Terran Alliance, along with the Luthal Commonwealth were set to launch a coordinated preemptive invasion on the Grim territories. Little is actually known about the Grim, other than the fact that they have the ability to consume us. They have some kind of technology that would allow them to drop us out of FTL in a moment's notice.
But I suppose I should start at the beginning of the battle, I’ll try my best to remember as much as I can. During the briefings we were given we were told we were about to take the planets most likely to be their outer worlds. Planet hopping a few of us even called it. The plan was derived from what the old United States did over a millennia ago in one of their major wars. But what most of us overlooked in the history books was how bloody those battles were.
The first mission would put us on a Grim planet you could say bordered the sol system, it was the closest habitable system to sol inside no mans land. The planet, we would later find out, the Grim called Drug. I'm not sure why the Grim gave one of their planets such a bland name but that was the least of our concerns. Our top priority was to eliminate all military assets on and around the planet. We would conduct orbital bombardment to soften up the anti-air defenses we knew had to be there, then we would drop in all sorts of assets. Tanks, armored vehicles, portable command centers, anything we should need in case of a long, drawn out war.
However, our first mistake was assuming we would make it to Drug easily. I know I mentioned we knew about the FTL disruptors, but the TA must've overlooked that key piece of intel. Hell, we all watched the video of Captain Hugh Adam’s crew. They experienced the FTL disruptors first and even warned us about them. Even the commons soldiers knew that.
I was in the mess hall when it happened, attempting to down what I speculated would be my last good meal for the foreseeable future. My closest friends in the service, Christian Newman, and Julian Smith sat across from me on the other side of the table. When the FTL disruptor hit us, there wasn’t much the Inertial dampeners could do to soften the blow. The table, along with myself, flipped over my two friends. I ended up landing on top of the table, which crushed them both. I rolled over, noticing I spilled some of my dinner on myself.
I quickly helped my friends push the table off of them, both of them rubbing parts of their body that the table must have hit. An alarm started blaring just in time for us to regain our sense of reality.
“That’s the battle sirens,” Julian spits out, “Bastards must have intercepted us, they must really not want us to make it to their planet.”
“Whatever, lets just head to the armory, I’ll fucking kill the bastard who made me spill my potatoes all over my uniform,” I mutter. We jog down to the armory and fit ourselves with our vests, knee guards, helmets, and our weapons of choice. Personally, I prefer a rifle, but Julian has always preferred the shotguns. Whenever we would go to the range to practice our shooting, he always boasted about how he puts bigger dents into the targets, especially at close range.
After I finish grabbing the last magazine of ammo I need, I have to push through a dozen other soldiers who need to grab their gear. I walk back out into the hallway, where Julian and Christian are already waiting for me, and secure my final magazine in my vest.
“All units, prepare for a Grim boarding party, I repeat, prepare for a Grim boarding party!” the loudspeaker shouts to all of us. “Grim forces are docking from airlock 3-C on the starboard side!”
Airlock 3-C? That should be right below us, I think to myself.
“Let's go,” Julian shouts to me and Christian. We follow him to the stairwell, where we can already hear intense gunfire.
“God damn it,” Christian says, “How the hell did they catch us with our pants down this far?”
“Relax,” Julian says, as we fly down the stairs. “Let's just focus on getting out of this alive.”
I open the door to the hallway, when we open it, one of our soldiers flies past us and lands hard on his back. When he landed, the three of us could clearly hear the snapping of some kind of bone in his body. The soldier shrieks out in pain. Christian quickly rushes to the soldier, while me and Julian turn our attention to the direction of the airlock.
There has to be two or three dozen Grim already on our ship, with several more barreling their way in. Several dead Grim soldiers blanket the floor in front of the airlock, their fellow soldiers walking over their bodies as if they couldn’t give a second thought about them.
I rest my rifle on a storage crate and begin to unload my ammo onto the Grim soldiers. I attempt to save several Terran soldiers who have gotten themselves cut off from retreating to us, but there is only so much I could do. I watch as one of the Grim appears to absorb one of our dead comrades. It's as if their skin opens up to allow the human into their body, and their body immediately breaks down everything. I put a bullet into the shoulder of one, missing the headshot that I was aiming for. Reinforcements pick off the remaining Grim soldiers from behind. Roughly two dozen soldiers stand on the other side of the dead Grim boarding party. Julian is the first one to point his shotgun in the storage room.
“Get the hell out here you bald headed piece of shit,” he shouts. The Grim soldier walks out with his hands above his head. Amazingly, the wound on his shoulder has healed.
“I shot you,” I shout, “Why the hell isn’t there a gunshot wound on your shoulder?”
The Grim soldier smiles, “It is the energy I stole from one of your pals, my body converts energy much faster this way, and the more energy I have, the quicker my body heals itself.
Julian shrugs, “Alright, let's test that out real quick,” he lowers his shotgun to the Grim’s knee, I grab the barrel of his gun and point it away.
“Relax, we captured one, we can’t go executing prisoners. Just detain him and help gather up our dead and wounded. Me and Christian will help board their ship. Clearly they underestimated us.”
Julian nods in agreement. Clearly watching our fellow soldiers getting eaten like slaughtered cattle was something that bothered him, hell it clearly bothered all of us. But it was clear he needed to process the situation on his own. I glance over to find the other soldiers had already abandoned us, all but two, who detain the Grim soldier while Julian watches.
“Christian,” I say, getting his attention, “me and you will catch up to our boarding party and back them up in the event they need it.” He gives me a nod and we head for the airlock.
The sheer smell of the Grim ship is overwhelming, we can smell it before we even reach the airlock. I quickly clear the airlock, even though Terran soldiers entered less than five minutes ago, we were taught never to assume an area is cleared unless we were the ones who personally cleared it. The other side of the airlock is dark. Given the Grim’s physical appearance, both their lack of body hair and pale body, I estimate the Grim must prefer dark environments. Me and Christian flip down our night vision goggles and enter the ship.
The hallways were probably three or four times the size of ours. It is clear from out initial observations the Grim must really appreciate personal space. We hear a couple of gunshots echo from the left side of the airlock, so we begin to make our way down towards the sound. We quickly pass few rooms, so far all of them appear to be storage rooms.
After another minute or so walking down the hallway, we catch up to the Terran group, who stand posted up aside from a large steel door.
“God damn it Dexter, we almost shot your ass, don't ever sneak up on us like that again,” Sergeant Morgan Chang states. “Several Grim soldiers are barricaded inside this room, the door is too thick for us to open it. What should we do?”
Since I am technically the highest ranking officer among us, It makes sense they would look to me, even if it did catch me off guard. “Honestly, depending how thick the door is, I say we weld their asses in there. But that probably isn’t the smartest tactical solution. Just use some C4 to blow the door in and we’ll just pick them off.”
The soldiers nod in agreement and begin deploying a large amount of C4 to the door. After they are finished, they hand Sergeant Chang the detonator. “These bitches are about to find out exactly why you dont fuck with us,” She says, then she squeezes the detonator, blowing the door inwards. Five pops from Chang’s soldiers, then silence. Myself and Chang enter the room last, with Christian keeping post outside, to inspect the damage.
Six Grim soldiers dead, which is odd because I only remember hearing five shots. “I thought I only heard five shots?” I ask Sergeant Chang.
“That is my fault,” one of her soldiers says with a smile. I look at the nameplate, which reads Fraizer. “They lined themselves up, so I guess one bullet went through both of their skulls,” he says.
After confirming all six Grim soldiers are dead, we move on. We still don’t know much about the layout of the Grim’s ship, but we ignore our ignorance and continue to make our way down the hallway. After another 100 feet or so, we reach the end of the hallway, only a secured door sits at the end of it. I sit back as Chang’s forces follow the same procedure from before to blow the door open.
This time, me and Christian sit back as they clear whatever is on the other side of that door. “Uh, Lieutenant,” I hear Chang’s voice shout, concerningly, “You might want to come take a look at this.”
I leave Christian behind as I enter the doorway. On the other side however, it appears to be some kind of holding center for prisoners. Blue light emits from the shield that holds its prisoners inside. I lift my goggles up to inspect the holding area. Four out of eight cells are in use, and the prisoners are all of the same species. The prisoners appear to be almost rat-like. They seem smaller than us humans, comparable in size to the Luthal.
“Who are you?” I ask one of the creatures, but get no response.
“I already tried that,” Chang replies, “They must not have neural-transmitters like we do, so we probably won't be able to speak with them, unless you have a portable translator device.”
“No, we don’t, we’ll have to get them back to our ship, I’m sure we have something back there,” I reply. “Free them, make sure you make no threatening gestures, if they struggle, then detain them. Our safety comes first, but just remember they are prisoners to a species that eats other creatures by touching them, so they are probably scared.”
Chang’s soldiers nod in agreement and begin smashing the controls to each cell, releasing the blue shield keeping them locked away in their cells. The frightened creatures follow us out of the holding cell.
“All Terran forces fall back to the LockHaven,” We hear over our radios. That order can only mean one of two things. Either the Grim are retreating, or we are. We secured the alien prisoners with cuffs, which I hated to watch Chang and her soldiers do, and began to head back onto the LockHaven. After securing the airlock, we watched the Grim ship disconnect from ours. Out the airlock’s window we could witness our ship and the Grim’s exchanged plasma fire. After we put a good distance between us and the Grim ship, dozens of missiles rocketed towards the Grim ship. The missiles collided in an explosion, leaving only debris where the ship once stood. I look around the space near us to see we were the last ones to ward off our boarding party. I don’t know if we all succeeded, but it definitely looks like we kept most of our fleet intact.

Ronde van Vlaanderen
Sunday’s Tour of Flanders is the second monument of the season, and undoubtedly one of the biggest classics of the year… if not the biggest! Especially for Belgian fans, it is considered a near-religious event. It’s a Flemish cobbled classic like the ones we’ve had in the past few weeks… but it’s longer (250 kms for the men, 150 kms for the women), tougher (16 cobbled sectors for the men, 10 for the women) and it has infinitely more prestige than any other race held in this area so far; sadly, it is also the last big Flemish classic, but this might add a layer of entertainment as it will be the last chance to leave a mark for riders who have failed to perform until now.
The men’s course starts in Brugge, and it takes 100 kms to reach the Flemish Ardennes area where all the cobbled sectors are found; the women’s race starts closer to the action, with the first cobbled sectors less than 50 kms into the course. Except for this, the two courses are rather similar and share several key points: the
Koppenberg, a short but notoriously difficult cobbled climb coming with about 50 kms to go, and the
Oude Kwaremont x
Paterberg combo: these two iconic cobbled roads are tackled one after another near the end of the race, and from the Paterberg’s summit it’s a tense 13 kms-long run to the finish line in Oudenaarde. However, unlike- say- the Poggio in MSR, it’s such a tough race that the decisive move could come just about anywhere, so it’s well worth watching from far out.
In the men’s event,
Mathieu van der Poel has been the absolute protagonist in recent years- winner in 2020, a close second in 2021 and winner again in 2022. Last year’s win came after a ballsy gamble- he was in front with
Tadej Pogačar but the two nearly came to a standstill before the line, as neither wanted to tow the other to the line. This allowed the chasers to catch up with them… but MvdP still won the sprint at the end. In the women’s race, SD Worx (unsurprisingly) had strength in numbers, and this allowed
Lotte Kopecky to bring some joy to the home crowds.
Dwars door Vlaanderen
The penultimate Flemish classic is Wednesday’s Dwars door Vlaanderen, whose name roughly translates to
through Flanders. Compared to other Flemish classics, I’d argue it is a bit less coveted as it was a late addition to the men’s World Tour, and it isn’t even WT for the women; most of its prestige comes from its “last call before de Ronde” calendar spot… which it acquired in 2018, when organizers FlandersClassics successfully lobbied to oust the Three Days of De Panne from this privileged calendar spot.
DDV is a fairly standard Flemish race- it takes place in the area to the south of Gent- the same as Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, E3 Harelbeke and the Ronde van Vlaanderen- and it features 10 cobbled sectors for the men and 9 for the women. Most of them are in the last 50 kms, after the
Knokteberg, a short, punchy hill which is often a pivotal point in this race.
Mathieu van der Poel is (again) the defending champion in the men’s race, whereas the always cheerful
Chiara Consonni won the women’s race last year.
Route Adélie de Vitré
At long last, the French calendar will finally reach Bretagne on Friday: as you may know, the region is one of the most passionate (if not THE most passionate) about the sport in the whole country, and it is set to host plenty of events throughout the year. As with most races held here, the
Route Adélie takes place on mostly flat rural roads, although it is not necessarily a sprinters’ race: last year we had a tough edition of this event, marred by bad weather, and Cofidis’
Axel Zingle emerged victorious. Fun fact: this is probably the only race named after a brand of ice cream, made by one of the event’s main sponsors.
GP Miguel Induráin
If you prefer mountains to cobblestones, this is probably not the best week in the calendar for you: Saturday’s
GP Miguel Induráin might be a much-needed fix. It is a one-day race held in Navarra, northern Spain, not far from where the Tour of the Basque Country will be held the following week.
The race is named after five-times TdF winner Induráin, who hails from this same region; he was regarded as a formidable “jack of all trades” kind of rider… and the course seems to reflect this: it has several short climbs and fast descents, so it can play out in many different ways. The course has been changed regularly in the past, but the 2023 course is largely similar to the one used for the past couple of years, with many short hills along the route and the last categorized climb, the Alto de Eraul, summiting with 10 kms to go.
Warren Barguil won last year.
Fun fact: among past winners of GP Miguel Induráin, we can find Induráin himself, although the race had yet to be named after him.
Volta Limburg Classic
Saturday’s
Volta Limburg Classic is a one-day race taking place in Limburg province, the southernmost part of the Netherlands, with some brief spillovers in Belgium too. Unlike the rest of the country, this area is quite hilly, and this race includes plenty of short climbs: it’s Amstel Gold Race territory, although this race’s course is easier overall. Despite its potential status as a prep race for the Ardennes classics, this race usually has a fairly low-tier startlist, with most classics-type riders and teams busy across the border- there will be four WT teams at the start. There’s a women’s race held alongside the men’s- albeit on a shorter circuit: despite sometimes having a better startlist than the men’s race, it is not part of the UCI calendar.
The race shouldn’t be confused with the
Ronde van Limburg, a flatter race held across the border in Belgium… although coincidentially the two events had the same winner last year,
Arnaud De Lie.
Tour of Thailand (stages 1-2)
The Covid-19 pandemic took a heavy toll on the Asian calendar over the past few seasons, and things are just now getting back to normal. There’s a race that never stopped, though:
The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorns Cup Tour of Thailand… I hope you’ll forgive me if I call it
Tour of Thailand for the sake of brevity.
The race begins on Saturday and is set to last six stages overall, after which a women’s race will begin. Unlike previous editions of this race, the stages won’t be concentrated to one small region within the country: the riders will move around, forming a crescent-moon-shaped loop to the north of Bangkok. There’s one thing that has not changed, though: the course of the race is largely completely flat except for a punchy climb next week. After the men’s race wraps up, a women’s race will take place too!
The race is ranked 2.1, meaning that WT teams could participate in theory… although in practice, not even ProTeams will be visiting here. Last year, Polish continental team HRE took part in this race, and took the overall with
Alan Banaszek, now at HPH; this year, the startlist will be mostly made up of Asian teams with strong Belgian conti team Tarteletto the only visitor from elsewhere confirmed so far.
.2 races
- New exotic race alert? New exotic race alert! The Vuelta Bantrab is a new stage race in Guatemala, taking place from Wednesday to Sunday, and simply named after its main sponsor, a local bank. The five days will feature plenty of climbing and racing at altitude, with stages 1 and 4 looking the hardest on paper. The startlist is entirely made up of Latin American teams (most of them from the host country), but it will be worth keeping an eye on this race’s results as Colombia’s Team Medellín should bring both Oscar Sevilla and Superman López here!
- The only other .2 race this week is a U23 event, Sunday’s Trofeo Piva. It is the first of many events held in the Alpine foothills near Treviso, one of Italy’s cycling hotbeds, and it’s a fairly challenging event, as it course consists entirely of many laps of a hilly circuit, with a shorter, very steep climb right before the finish line. It is named after a local bank which was the event’s main sponsor for many years, and the name stuck even if said bank doesn’t exist anymore. The defending champion is Italian Martin Marcellusi, a second-year pro at Bardiani.
TV Guide
- GCN will provide live coverage for all the biggest races: Dwars door Vlaanderen (men and women), the Ronde van Vlaanderen, the Volta Limburg and the GP Miguel Indurain. In the US and Canada, the Flemish races should be on FloBikes, which has an exclusive deal with organizer FlandersClassics.
- The Route Adélie will receive a livestream on the organizers’ FB page.
- The Thai national broadcasting service will broadcast the Tour of Thailand live, including via internet livestreams.

2023.03.29 11:23 aamasum33 Menopausal Hormone Therapy to Increased Breast Cancer Risk
Menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) is a type of treatment that is used to alleviate the symptoms of menopause. Menopause is a natural process that occurs in women as they age, typically starting in their late 40s or early 50s, where their ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone, two hormones that play important roles in the menstrual cycle and overall reproductive health.
As the levels of estrogen and progesterone decline, women may experience a range of symptoms including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood changes, and sleep disturbances. MHT works by replacing these hormones with synthetic versions that can alleviate these symptoms.
MHT can come in various forms, including pills, patches, creams, and vaginal rings. The two main types of hormones used in MHT are estrogen and progesterone. Women who have had a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) may only need estrogen therapy, while those who still have their uterus need a combination of estrogen and progesterone to reduce the risk of developing endometrial cancer.
While MHT can be highly effective in managing menopausal symptoms, it is not without risks. Studies have found that long-term use of MHT may increase the risk of certain health problems, such as breast cancer, heart disease, stroke, and blood clots. As a result, MHT is typically recommended for short-term use (usually less than five years) and at the lowest effective dose.
It is important for women to discuss their individual risks and benefits of MHT with their healthcare provider to determine if it is an appropriate treatment option for them. Women who have a history of breast cancer, blood clots, heart disease, or other medical conditions may not be good candidates for MHT.

Hi! This is the first post in what I hope to be (about) a 7 part series following the adventures of a human destroyer with a crew who was not trained for diplomacy becoming the last chance for peace between two alien species who aren’t very happy that their first contact with humanity is a purpose-built warship blundering into their space. Kida sorta. This is my first time writing anything like this, or really anything at all for public viewership, so feedback is welcome!
This is the prologue, the framing sequence is kinda vague here, this is mostly just to set up the main cast of this show and the titular gunboat, the UNS Crazy Train, so apologies if it drags a bit in a couple places, but I figured it’d be best to exposit now and focus on a more character driven story later (unless y'all really like exposition). Future chapters will probably use the memory transcription framing sequence, the next one will for sure, but I'm not great at writing in first person, so it depends after that. I’m aiming for one post a week, but IRL may have other plans for me.
Credit to
u/SpacePaladin15 for his original series, The Nature of Predators, It is very good! Read it if you haven’t because, 1:why are you on the NoP subreddit without reading NoP? Silly. And 2:None of this will probably make sense unless you already know a good chunk of NoP’s plot.
I started working on this before part 98 came out, but this story is not set in the primary canon, so effectively that's about where it diverges from the normal timeline. I'll do my best to avoid contradicting lore from before 99 wherever possible!
That's enough introduction, on with the prologue!
Historical Record: July 12th, 2137
“Captain Krenshaw?”
The captain didn’t look up from his datapad, beckoning the visitor into his office. Probably just another new batch of paperwork for me to sign. While he was enthusiastic about captaining the UNS Crazy Train, the first in the UN’s new class of siege-breaker destroyers, he hadn’t anticipated the amount of documents he would have to sign and submit before. Liability waivers for every new piece of equipment on board, confirmations of deliveries of a dozen different ammo types, and signing the admittance documents for every one of the six hundred and thirty souls on board. Maybe the engineers have a new type of wrench they need approval to distribute to the workstations, he thought with a rueful smile.
The ship had been scheduled to launch five days prior, but the fueling shuttle had somehow brought fuel rods half again too long to fit in the reactor, and so the geniuses in engineering had figured out a way to cut them down to size. It was faster than waiting for replacements, but by no means a fast process, and some logistician had decided to take advantage of the ship sitting in dry dock above Mars and managed to add thirty tons of cargo to the manifest.
“The last of the ammunition has been loaded, we have one last matter to attend to before we are cleared for cast off.” The visitor said while handing him a clipboard.
The captain stood, recognizing the voice of Commander Wilson, his second in command and long time friend. If the commander was hand-delivering a hard copy, this must be an important piece of cargo. A cursory reading of the document proved him right, much to his consternation.
“We’re transporting war criminals now, Hanah? I thought four hundred incendiary bombs for the Fissan’s new “terraforming” project was a bit much, Lieutenant Kiref was already complaining about how he wouldn’t get any time to train with his marines with all this guard duty, and now he’s going to have to have to incorporate at least ten people into prisoner watch.”
Wilson shrugged. “I tried to argue with them, but apparently these criminals need to be delivered to the Venlil High Courts pronto. UN command wants any Arxur sympathetic to our cause to know that we don’t use exterminator tactics on defectors.”
Krenshaw sighed, “Great, just what I need to be worried about, racist pyromaniacs on a ship packed to the brim with napalm charges. I suppose I should go and talk to them before we set off, acceptable conduct and all that.” He rolled his eyes. “We’re ready to go other than that?”
Wilson nodded, and Krenshaw followed her out of his office, leaving her in the battle bridge to make final preparations, while the captain got in a lift down to the dock connecting them to the Martian Shipyards.
As he passed the levels, he again marveled at the warship he was now in command of. The Crazy Train was not a particularly large ship, coming in at just under half a klick long and a quarter of that in width and an eighth in height, but the armor made her literally second to none. While the lower half of her twin hulls were armored comparably to any other human warship, the top halves were covered and connected by a series of armor plates collectively thicker than the wingspan of Earth’s largest fighter, not even including spacing. In order to account for her massive weight, the four primary propulsion thrusters (one at the front and rear of each hull) could rotate to face straight down for atmospheric flight.
Her design had been the result of information gleaned during the UN Shadow Fleet’s marauding attack through Chief Hunter Shaza’s sector, notably the complete lack of any anti-capital ship weapons on the surface of any of the Arxur cattle worlds. A conversation with some of the Arxur sympathetic to humanity, and interrogation of one of the cattle farm overseers revealed the reason: apparently, about sixty years ago a cattle world had been drained of guards for another all-out attack, leaving just under one hundred Arxur in charge of roughly three thousand Mazics. One stampede later, and the Arxur had lost control of the farm and all of its anti-starship heavy plasma railguns. The facility was removed with antimatter bombs, but over a hundred bombers were lost in an operation that, had the guns not been operational, could have been handled by three or four. Rather than rework their entire military strategy to rely on smaller, more flexible forces that didn’t require reducing entire galactic sectors to skeleton crews, the Arxur just moved all the heavy guns to orbital installations.
As a result, the UN commissioned three new classes of warship under “Project Rustler,” with the objective of creating purpose-built warships for eliminating orbital defense platforms and liberating cattle farms. The designers of the Crazy Train had come up with the quintessentially human tactic of building a ship so heavily armored and with such powerful engines that she could hard burn past the platforms, dumping dozens of boarding torpedoes and enough countermeasures to cloak a small fleet in her wake, hover above the farm, drop the onboard detachment of marines to the surface, rescue as many cattle as possible, and escape virtually unharmed due to the upper armor plate being thick enough to take dozens of shots that would split a larger ship in two in stride.
Captain Krenshaw’s musings were interrupted by the bell indicating someone else was getting on the lift. The doors slid open, and the massive form of an Arxur blocked the doorway before quickly ducking inside the elevator.
“Mornin’ Captain” growled Lieutenant Kiref, crouching slightly to avoid whacking his head on the seven foot tall ceiling. “I’m heading down to the docks to take delivery of that batch of prisoners. Where are you headed?”
“Same place actually, I figured you might need some help.”
The Lieutenant waved his tail to indicate his skepticism. “Captain, I am more than capable of taking delivery of three Venlil, who are already cuffed. If they are that heavy, I can requisition some marines to help drag their bodies to their cells after they faint. Why are we hauling prisoners anyway? The version of the orders I got were blocked out.”
“Kiref, these are war criminals, exterminators deployed with the UN army on an Arxur scientific research base.”
Kiref cut in, “Well at least they should be accustomed to seeing sentient predator species then, shouldn’t that make them easier to handle?”---”Sir?” quickly correcting his mistake. Captain Krenshaw is tolerant of a lack of decorum, but I really need to get the hang of these human honorifics for the next time I have to justify my service to some admiral Kiref internally chastised himself.
“They were found by their commanding officer after having burned several defectors to death, so I think fainting is nowhere near the worst situation we could have.” Kiref’s yellow slitted eyes went wide, then narrowed with anger. “What’s more, there was another defector who was still on fire, and survived, so this will definitely go public. The UN wanted to try the exterminators at the Hague, make sure everybody else knows that’s not how humanity treats defectors and POWs, but Tarva insisted that they be tried on Venlil Prime. The UN wants to announce the trial before the story breaks, so the prisoners are taking the next ship to Venlil Prime, which is us.”
“Thanks for the heads up, and glad to know the ship’s leaving soon.” The captain nodded in agreement to the last sentiment, as the doors to the lift opened, revealing the ready deck, which was supposed to be kept clear for troops and equipment for planetary landings, but which was currently packed to the brim with shipping containers full of napalm and canned fruit. The pair made their way through the labyrinth to the airlock connecting the Crazy Train to the dock, Kiref taking note of the lack of any dropships within the hangar.
“Captain, has there been any word on when we will be taking on any landing vessels, and of what type they may be? I was hoping to run disembarkation drills with the landing party.”
“Some new Nevok design they don’t want to be sending the schematics over long range broadcast, probably a good idea given how poor the cybersecurity on those old Fed transmitters is.” The captain replied, with a chuckle at the last part. “You should have at least some time to train on the way to the rest of the fleet. I understand you had planned on using the ready deck to train for surface combat, but since that isn’t an option, I’ll set aside the living quarters and sickbay for the freed prisoners as a simulation for boarding actions.”
Kiref swung his tail in a gesture of appreciation. “I thank you for your consideration sir. I will make sure my men will be capable of securing any ship in the Dominion or Federation within less than a half an hour after boarding.”
Stepping through the airlock, the pair walked onto the dock, which was as large as a highway, and populated sparsely by crewmen loading the last few containers and a squad of marines who snapped to attention as the two officers walked passed. Sticking out like a sore thumb among all the sailors were three of the baldest looking Venlil either man had ever seen seated in benches a little way down the dock, flanked by four uncomfortable looking guards in UNMP uniforms. Upon seeing the alien’s strange haircuts, Kiref glanced quizzically at his commanding officer, who just muttered “exterminators” in response, causing Kiref to roll his eyes. The exterminators were wearing hand (or paw) cuffs clearly designed for someone much larger than them, and The lead exterminator, judging by the insignia pinned to his fire-resistant uniform, glared at Kiref with a look that betrayed not so much fear as anger and disgust.
As Captain Krenshaw began signing over custody of the prisoners, the lead exterminator let out a yell. “Hey human! You know you got a monster in your crew?” The captain put down his pen and turned to face the Venlil, a terrifying look in his eye that made the other two Venlil back down. The leader carried on, oblivious “We could take care of it for you! That thing’s a danger to anybody on board, at least get your chief of security to confine it to a cell!”
Lieutenant Kiref snapped his eyes over to the Venlil, and unsheathed his claws, causing the exterminator to take an involuntary step back. “I’m sorry prisoner,” said the Arxur, his every syllable dripping with venom “I didn’t quite hear you, would you care to repeat that?”
The captain jumped between the two aliens. “THAT’S ENOUGH!”
“Look, human, that thing-”
“I SAID ENOUGH. For future reference, his name is Lieutenant Kiref, not ‘it,’ mine is Captain Krenshaw, not ‘human,’ and as commander of my ship’s marine detachment, he is the security chief. You are under his charge for the duration of our voyage, so I suggest you treat him with the respect he is due.” The captain turned to the Lieutenant. “Take these war criminals to the brig. You know the handbook on prisoner transport inside and out, I trust you will have no problem keeping them confined?”
“None whatsoever” said Kiref, grinning at the now cowering Venlil. He motioned for two marines who were coming back from the interior of the shipyard, and the three of them escorted the cuffed Venlil into the bowels of the ship.
The captain sighed and turned back to the four military police officers, and finished filling out the clipboard before handing it back to the officer who had given it to him.
“Safe travels, captain, and good luck” The man said.
“Thanks, we’ll definitely need it.” Captain Krenshaw turned and began calling over his radio to the crew, “Alright, seal all airlocks, disconnect all umbilicals and prepare to release docking clamps, we will be underway within the hour.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ship wasn’t under way for very long.
The UNS Crazy Train exited hyperdrive about four lightyears from the edge of the Sol system, just over a day and a half after departure in a patch of seemingly uninteresting space. Captain Krenshaw ran onto the bridge, disheveled but attempting to put on a professional face, buttoning the last button on his jacket. “What’s the status?” This was a charted area of space, if there had been an asteroid or large space rock,it should have been marked on the map, and the only other plausible option was an enemy fleet, which seemed absent.
Commander Wilson turned at his entrance, vacating the command chair “We’re not sure what it is, the automated navigator detected an absurdly large object in our path, but only picked it up at the last second, and was able to break us out of FTL within just forty klicks of the object. Scanner Officer Casey is investigating now, but we haven’t seen anything since going sunlight.”
The captain took a seat and looked over at the sensor station. “Any ideas yet Caysey?” Officer Casey was by far both the youngest and least experienced member of the Crazy Train’s bridge crew, but Krenshaw was somewhat concerned with the Dossur’s ability to perform his duties under stress. He had been diagnosed with “predator disease” which manifested as an extreme lack of fear response, which meant that he was capable of exchanging small talk over lunch with Kiref for three whole minutes before fainting. Krenshaw had been assured multiple times that the diminutive officer would be just fine in performing his duties as long as the enemies stayed on the other side of a screen, and the Dossur’s natural extremely fast reflexes proved Caysey was adept at identifying and distinguishing targets, so the captain was hopeful, if a bit cautious.
Caysey looked up from his screen, his field of view severely limited by his blinders. “Captain, the only thing that could have blipped into and immediately out of sensor range that fast was another ship passing dangerously close without announcing it’s heading, headed inbound for Earth.”
“An invasion fleet perhaps? Should we turn around?”
“I don’t think so, It would have skipped in front of us for a fraction of a second. The object was detected for over a second, at the speeds we’re talking about, in order to do that the ship would have to be literally light-seconds long, and wide too given the distance this thing seems to stretch on to the sides” The scanner officer looked back to his panel and took several deep breaths before continuing. “I think sensor error is the more likely option. Possibly also some sort of energy field orbiting a local sun at superluminal speeds, but that’s not supported by any scientific theories I know of,” Caysey hastily added.
“I think we’ll avoid examination of theoretical physics for now, drop a beacon and we’ll see if anyone wants to send out a science ship later, helm, continue at sunlight speeds until we clear this field.” The captain said, relaxing a bit. We were needed at the front weeks ago, every day we aren’t there, more people die in Arxur farms.
The ship slowly trundled forwards at sunlight speeds for a few minutes, all eyes were looking at their instruments. The bow punched into the zone, the bridge crew collectively taking deep breaths.
“We should be clear in twenty seconds” Wilson called out.
The whole ship was in the space where the disturbance had been now.
“Fifteen seconds…”
No objects on scanners within the collision warning perimeter
“Ten seconds…”
The bow had reached the far side.
“Five…”
With one and a half seconds to go, Caysey yelled out “WAIT-” but it was too late. Within half a second the entirety of the UNS Crazy Train was engulfed in a bizarre energy field. The standard lighting on the bridge cut out and the emergency bulbs burst from the power surge, plunging the ship into total darkness. The ship rocked violently as the engines gimbaled in random directions. Faster than even the Dossur could react, every electrical system on the ship was flooded with power levels dozens of times higher than what they had been designed to handle. The helmsman screamed as his hands were electrified by the absurd amperage traveling through the ship’s wheel. The ship's reactors tripped, dropping the control rods within another half second, triggering warnings on every panel on the engineering decks.
Within another second the energy had passed, leaving the Crazy Train drifting lifeless in deep space. The turbines slowly winding down triggered the emergency batteries to connect to the ships power, keeping the remaining systems functional, for now. The backup computer activated, rerouting power through backup conduits wherever possible, and developing a list of what needed to be replaced.
Captain Krenshaw was the first to get to his feet. “Is anyone injured?”
“Helmsman Jones' hands are burned pretty badly, should I escort him to sickbay?” said Commander Wilson, helping the injured man to his feet.
“Please do, then help Dr. Mulvan get a triage going.” The captain replied. “Is there anything on scanners, Caysey?
“No s-sir” panted Caysey slowly getting to his fleet. “I should be able to check the beacon we dropped just before we entered the field.” The Dossur was quiet for several seconds. “Sir our comms and scanners may be more damaged than the computer says, I can’t even establish that the beacon is there. Should I launch another?”
“If we have that functionality, then do so. It seems your superluminal energy field hypothesis may have some merit after all” replied the captain, still a bit shaken.
Caysey punched a few buttons before frowning. “The next beacon is launched, and it’s meeting all expected readings. It’s like the other probe just disappeared.”
Krenshaw didn’t give it much thought, contacting engineering to see when the situation on damage control was. The damage turned out to have been mostly superficial or to redundant components, mainly to lighting systems and some CIWS targeting systems. All things that could be replaced in-flight or swapped out quickly at the next port. The only crucial component the ship was missing was the long range communications array, leading to the captain's decision to continue on towards Venlil Prime. At least they have an approach vector lined up for us, we would be cruising into extremely heavy traffic with no comms and dodgy sensors if we head back to Earth. So much for a peaceful maiden voyage, although at least it’s not the worst thing that could have happened...
Thanks for reading, it means a lot! Again, thanks to SpacePaladin15 as well! Hope to see y'all next time on
Gunboat Diplomacy!
(also did anybody else know disembarkation was the proper word? I just kinda assumed it was disembarkment until google and spellcheck corrected me)

If you're located in Jaipur, you might be wondering where to find the best sensory integration therapy services. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. That's why we've put together this guide to help you find the best
sensory integration therapy in Jaipur. Whether you're looking for individual therapy sessions, group classes, or a combination of both, we'll provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision. Let's dive in and explore the options available to you in Jaipur!
Understanding Sensory Integration Therapy
Sensory integration therapy is a type of therapy that helps individuals who struggle with sensory processing issues. Sensory processing refers to the way the brain receives, organizes, and makes sense of sensory information from the environment. For individuals with sensory processing issues, this information can be overwhelming, leading to difficulties with motor skills, behavior, and emotional regulation. Sensory integration therapy is designed to help individuals develop the skills to process and respond to sensory information in a more typical way. There are many different approaches to sensory integration therapy, including individual therapy sessions, group classes, and a combination of both. Some therapists may use a sensory gym or other specialized equipment to help individuals develop the skills they need to process sensory information more effectively. Others may focus more on developing coping strategies and techniques that individuals can use in their everyday lives. It's important to note that sensory integration therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. The therapy should be tailored to the individual's specific needs and goals. So, finding the right therapist is crucial to getting the most out of
sensory integration therapy. Why is Finding the Right Therapist Important?
Finding the right therapist is important for several reasons. First, sensory integration therapy is a complex and specialized form of therapy. It requires a therapist with extensive knowledge and experience in the field. Second, the therapy should be tailored to the individual's specific needs and goals. This requires a therapist who is skilled at assessing and understanding the individual's unique sensory processing issues. Finally, the therapist should be able to create a safe and supportive environment for the individual to explore and develop their sensory integration skills. Without the right therapist, sensory integration therapy may not be effective, or worse, it could be harmful. That's why it's so important to take the time to find the best therapist for your loved one's needs.
Factors to Consider When Searching for the Best Sensory Integration Therapy in Jaipur
When searching for the best sensory integration therapy in Jaipur, there are several factors to consider. Here are some of the most important:
Researching Potential Therapy Centers and Therapists
The first step in finding the best sensory integration therapy in Jaipur is to research potential therapy centers and therapists. You can start by searching online for sensory integration therapy providers in Jaipur. Look for therapists who specialize in sensory integration therapy and have experience working with individuals who have similar needs to your loved one. You can also ask for recommendations from your doctor, other healthcare professionals, or support groups. Once you have a list of potential therapy centers and therapists, take the time to research each one. Look for information about their qualifications, experience, and approach to therapy.
Questions to Ask During the Initial Consultation
Once you have narrowed down your list of potential therapy centers and therapists, the next step is to schedule an initial consultation. During this consultation, you'll have the opportunity to meet with the therapist and ask any questions you may have. Be sure to ask about their qualifications and experience in sensory integration therapy. You should also ask about their approach to therapy and how they will tailor the therapy to meet your loved one's specific needs. Ask about the therapist's availability and whether they offer individual therapy sessions, group classes, or a combination of both. Finally, ask about the cost of therapy and whether they accept insurance.
Evaluating the Therapist's Qualifications and Experience
When evaluating potential therapists, it's important to look for someone who has the qualifications and experience needed to provide effective sensory integration therapy. Look for therapists who have a degree in occupational therapy, speech therapy, or another related field. You should also look for therapists who have specialized training and experience in sensory integration therapy. Look for therapists who have completed continuing education courses or certifications in the field. Finally, look for therapists who have experience working with individuals who have similar needs to your loved one.
Observing Therapy Sessions
Another way to evaluate potential therapists is to observe therapy sessions. Some therapists may allow you to observe a therapy session before deciding to work with them. This can give you a sense of their approach to therapy and how they work with their clients. During the therapy session, pay attention to how the therapist interacts with your loved one. Look for someone who is patient, supportive, and encouraging. Look for someone who is able to tailor the therapy to meet your loved one's specific needs.
Feedback and Reviews from Previous Clients
Finally, it's important to look for feedback and reviews from previous clients when evaluating potential therapists. Look for online reviews or ask the therapist for references. Talk to other parents or caregivers who have worked with the therapist to get their perspective. Pay attention to what previous clients have to say about the therapist's qualifications, experience, and approach to therapy. Look for someone who has a track record of providing effective sensory integration therapy.
Cost and Insurance Considerations
Finally, it's important to consider the cost of therapy and whether the therapist accepts insurance. Sensory integration therapy can be expensive, and it's important to find a therapist who is affordable for your family. Check with your insurance provider to see if they cover sensory integration therapy. If not, ask the therapist about their fee schedule and whether they offer any discounts or sliding scale fees.
Conclusion and Final Thoughts on Finding the Best Sensory Integration Therapy in Jaipur
Finding the best sensory integration therapy in Jaipur can be a daunting task. But with the right information and resources, you can make an informed decision and find a therapist who can help your loved one develop the skills they need to process sensory information more effectively. Remember to take the time to research potential therapy centers and therapists, ask questions during the initial consultation, evaluate the therapist's qualifications and experience, observe therapy sessions, and look for feedback and reviews from previous clients. And don't forget to consider the cost of therapy and whether the therapist accepts insurance. With these factors in mind, you'll be well on your way to finding the best sensory integration therapy in Jaipur for your loved one.

2023.03.29 10:39 dannyjli Thought I might share this - in case you have trouble seeing the bigger picture
2023.03.29 10:38 TheRNerdyNurse Husband Being Selfish? Am I wrong?
So I’m currently pregnant with my second child. It’s been a little bit of a miserable pregnancy for me. I’ve been sick/nauseas the entire time, now I’m getting to the last trimester when I’m just miserable, having a hard time sleeping, etc.
I’ve had restless leg syndrome my entire pregnancy. It was bad in the beginning, got better, and now it’s getting worse again and keeping me up at night. That last week has been horrible, no sleep, etc. my OB told me to try magnesium and it’s not worked at all.
My problem is that I work full time as a nurse; pretty much five days a week. I’m also the parent that handles drop of our child in the morning. My husband has a job that he has to get up for by 3am 4 days a week. I’ve been tossing and turning and apparently keeping him up, which I feel bad about but can’t help it. I usually wake up with his alarm and have to tell him to get up or he will snooze it and go back to sleep. He’s been doing that for a long time, even before this pregnancy. I’ve told him many times it’s not my job to wake him up. He’s a grown adult, if I can wake up with no sleep, get myself and our toddler up and get to work, then he can too.
Now he’s using me being miserable as even more of an excuse for not wanting to get up. He texted his boss to let him come in our later and get extra sleep. This really made me mad as he had gotten off from work early the day before, came home and taken a nap and that still wasn’t enough. I told him this and he said I could do the same thing if I need to. I told him that no I couldn’t. A: we need all the money we can get right now. I have unpaid maternity leave. B: my daughter has be dropped off at daycare by a certain time or they won’t take her. I told him it makes no sense for me to wake up, get myself and her dressed and to daycare, then text my boss and say I’m going to sleep for an hour then come in. I also have 45 min drive, I might as well just not go in. I’m sorry, but I just don’t think like that. Sleep or no sleep, we need to work to pay our bills is what I told him.
Am I wrong in thinking that he’s being incredibly selfish right now? I’m tired of him acting like my being miserable is an excuse for him not to go to work. Life doesn’t work like that. It’s also got me stressing about how it’s going to be with two kids now. I’ll be the one getting up, getting both kids ready by myself, getting myself ready, dropping them off, and then driving 45 minutes to work to get there on time. I don’t feel like he understands what I deal with. Yes, he gets up early, but all he has to do is get himself ready and go. His work ethic is just very unattractive right now too. I value a person that understands we need to make money to put a roof over our head and he values his sleep more. He’s never been great about getting up and going to work, but it’s getting worse and I’m stressed. Also the only reason after all this he hasn’t been fired is because he has a very understanding boss and his job is desperate for people and can’t lose him.

2023.03.29 10:33 HeadOfSpectre I Finally Found Out Why Dolls Keep Washing Up On The Beach
I’ve been keeping the Everfolk Point Lighthouse for around four years now. It’s a decent enough job, although probably not what one might imagine if they signed up to be a lighthouse keeper.
I figure that people probably picture me living alone on some desolate rock, spending my days tending to chores and looking sternly out at the sea during the evenings with a cup of warm grog but that’s really only half true.
For starters, I’m not alone. There’s always been at least one other person with me during my rotations at the lighthouse. It’s better to work in teams, partially because it’s good to have company and partially because in case anything happens, it’s better to have someone who can call for help. Working at any lighthouse can be dangerous. When you’re that close to the sea, any storms that come your way hit you like a brick and if you’re not prepared, they
will kill you dead.
Working at a lighthouse is hard work too. I’ve met some folks who think that the job is just turning the light on and off again, but it’s nowhere near that simple. All lighthouses, even the automated ones still need maintenance. The storms that come off the water wear them down quickly, so you spend most of your time shoring them up, making repairs, and doing maintenance. In the four years, I’ve worked at Everfolk Point, I’ve probably repainted the whole property two or three times and I wouldn’t be surprised if I have to repaint it two or three more before I get transferred.
That said, while they work me like a dog, it’s not all bad. I don’t actually stay at the lighthouse 365 days a year. I spend one month there, and then I get one month off. In effect, I’m really only working six months out of the year. They do it to prevent people going stir crazy, like you see in the movies, although it doesn’t stop you from going a
little crazy.
Simply put - when you’re working at the lighthouse, things can get a little weird and that’s okay! You’re more or less completely cut off from the rest of the world save for one radio you’re only expected to use in an emergency and little to do in your leisure time. Put in those circumstances, people tend to find some interesting hobbies to keep themselves occupied.
For example - one of the guys I often worked with, Gideon took an interest in taxidermy and collecting bones. He’d find dead animals washed up on shore or out in the woods and turn them into little projects. He actually got pretty good at it. Once he even brought home a freaking moose skull. It was simultaneously the creepiest and coolest thing I’d ever seen in my life. He brought that skull home with him after our rotation ended, and as far as I know, it hangs in his living room to this day.
Personally? I always passed the time by baking bread. I’d originally only started doing it out of necessity (we had to make most of our food completely from scratch) but after my first few batches turned out badly, I wanted to up my game and may have gotten a little obsessed with it. Oh, I could talk for hours about baking bread! I’ve even come up with my own recipes! I make this fantastic, spicy, cheesy bread that’s to die for! It’s great for a sandwich. And lately, I’ve been expanding into bagels which is kinda an art form in and of itself. If you’ve never made bagels from scratch before, you just haven’t lived. A real homemade bagel makes the stuff you get at the grocery store look like a sad joke. One taste of the real thing and you’ll never be able to go back!
Ah, but there I go getting all carried away. I didn’t sit down to talk about bread. That’s not what’s really on my mind tonight, no.
See, I got back from my last rotation about three days ago but I’ve had this particular incident on my mind for almost two weeks now. I really don’t know what to make of it. I’ve filed the relevant reports, of course, and as far as I know, the situation is technically resolved but that hasn’t given me much in the way of closure. I suppose I’m hoping that by sharing it here and putting it out into the world, that will change.
I worked at a few different lighthouses before I got posted at Everfolk, and as I said before I know that sometimes the isolation can make you a little weird. But in my experience, it’s always been the people who’ve been weird, and up until I went to Everfolk I hadn’t seen a single thing I couldn’t logically explain. But when I started finding the dolls, that all changed.
I first noticed them a few months after first starting my posting at Everfolk. It’d been a quiet Sunday morning and I’d been going down the beach to do some fishing when I saw one. I’d initially figured that it was just garbage. We saw plenty of it washed up on the rocky beach. Usually, I’d just pick it up and get rid of it. But as I went to grab it, I noticed the puffy cheeks and squashed nose. As I looked down at the face, it clicked that what I was looking at was the face of a baby and I felt a brief stab of panic before realizing that this thankfully wasn’t the corpse of an actual baby. It was just a doll. It was worn down by the elements, yes and it sure as heck looked like it’d seen better days, but it was just an ordinary baby doll.
Well… mostly ordinary. When I picked it up to inspect it, I couldn’t help but notice that somebody had gone through the effort of putting actual baby clothes on it. This stuff looked handmade. Honestly, the sight of it kinda broke my heart. Once upon a time, somebody must’ve really loved this doll and it was a little tragic to find it washed up on some faraway shore. The idea of just casually throwing it out didn’t really appeal to me. Call me sentimental, but hurling something that well loved into the trash just felt… wrong. So, I kept it and as I went down to my usual fishing spot, I carried it with me so it would dry and not soak the contents of my backpack. I guess I’d wondered if maybe I could somehow find its owner. The internet is a big place, maybe if I posted it when I got back home I could reunite it with whoever the original owner was. Even if they didn’t want the doll back (it was in pretty rough shape) the clothes could probably still be salvaged.
***
“That’s gotta be the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen,” said the girl I’d been working with back during my first rotation at the lighthouse. Her name was Ashley and she'd been there for two years longer than I had.
“Oh come on, look at his little coat, it’s kinda cute,” I’d replied.
Ashley had just grimaced.
“It’s still got weeds tangled in it,” She said. “And look at the eyes, the paints faded off.”
“Eh, give him a little TLC and he’ll be right as rain,” I said although Ashley didn’t seem convinced. She just stared mistrustfully down at the doll, inspecting it without daring to put her hands on it.
I was busy preparing that day’s catch for dinner, and Ashley reached over to take one of the wooden spoons we used for cooking so she could use the handle to turn the doll over.
“Look at the teeth marks on it too… something’s been chewing on this,” She noted.
“They’re battle scars,” I said. “No fun going on an ordeal like this without some battle scars, right? And besides, I always thought flaws like that gave something a little bit of personality.”
Again, Ashley just huffed.
“There’s some cracks on the back of the head,” She noted.
“I saw some coyotes down by the beach the other day, maybe they thought it was food,” I said with a shrug. “I’ll glue it and patch it up. Then see if I can’t find the original owner. I’ll bet some kid probably wants this back.”
“You are aware that this thing’s probably been floating out at sea for years, right?” She asked.
Again, I just shrugged.
“Well, maybe I’ll make some random woman's day, then,” I said and that was that.
True to my word, I did post some photos of the doll I’d found online when my rotation ended although I never heard anything back about it. A few people commented on just how creepy the doll was, but I didn’t really pay them much mind. It was an abandoned doll that had washed up on a remote beach in Labrador. Of course, it was doomed to be a little bit creepy. But I was hoping that somebody would claim it all the same, and when nobody did I still kept the doll, putting it on the desk of my apartment just in case. It still felt wrong to just throw it out after all.
***
I found the next doll about four months later, during one of my winter rotations. I was working with Ashley again, and we’d been trying to shore up the lighthouse against an oncoming blizzard that was due to hit us that night. The winds were pretty strong that day and had already torn some shingles off of the shack where the fog horn was kept. It’d blown them down toward the beach, and I’d gone down to collect them. We couldn’t fix the shed until after the storm, obviously. Just being too close to the fog horn would’ve shattered your eardrums. Even from down on the beach, the periodic drone from the horn made my entire body shake. Even in the cabin, we had to time our conversations around it lest it interrupt us. But, I figured it was better to at least have the shingles so we could do the repairs later and while I was collecting them I noticed another shape lodged between some of the rocks.
This doll was in significantly worse shape than the last one I’d found. In fact, I didn’t even recognize it as a doll at first. The head was completely missing and the body was tattered to the point where I could see the bendable joints inside.
This one was past saving, but I still brought it with me if for no other reason than to get it off the beach. After I’d finished up outside, I came in to find Ashley drinking a cup of hot chocolate in our kitchen, sitting comfortably under a stained glass mural of a ship she’d painted.
“Made you a cup,” She said gesturing to a steaming hot cup of coca on the table beside her, before noticing the tattered doll in my hand. “Oh God, not another one!”
“Found it down on the beach,” I said.
“You gonna fix this one up too?”
I looked down at the broken doll, before shaking my head.
“Too busted,” I said before deciding that this one needed to go in the trash.
“So that’s two now?” She asked, pausing to wait for the fog horn to sound before continuing, “Is this gonna be a thing with you?” She only seemed to be half joking.
“Well, you gotta admit it’s a little more interesting than stained glass,” I teased.
“Hey, screw you, man!” She replied, cracking a small smile. I took my coca and took a sip of it. The fog horn blared again, allowing her to continue.
“For something to keep me from going crazy, at least it’s constructive. And you gotta admit that I’m getting pretty good at it!”
I looked up at her mural and nodded in agreement. She
was getting good at it.
“We all go crazy in our own little ways,” She said. “I make stained glass, you collect weird beach dolls.”
“I mean, I don’t think taking the other one home was that weird,” I said, as the fog horn sounded again.
“I was talking more about the fact that there even are beach dolls,” She said. “That’s a little weird, don’t you think? Usually, we just see bottles, and pieces of plastic. Stuff like that. Never seen any dolls on the beach before.”
“Ocean currents, maybe?” I asked, “There’s a lotta crap out there.”
“Maybe,” She said with a shrug, “I guess it’s not the weirdest thing you could possibly find but… I dunno.”
The fog horn punctuated her sentence and I looked down at the ruined doll again. Studying it closer, I couldn’t help but remember how Ashley had mentioned that the last one looked like something had been chewing on it. This one sorta looked the same, although much worse for wear. I shrugged off the state of the doll and tossed it in the trash. No point in looking too hard at it, I figured.
***
Over the next couple of years, I found another doll once every few months down by the beach.
They weren’t all the same. Each one was different in its own unique way. The next one I found was further down the beach, near the bottom of a charming little waterfall I sometimes visited during the hikes I took during my downtime. This one opened and closed its eyes depending on if it was laying down or not, although the eyelids had partially rotted off, meaning that they technically stayed open no matter what. It seemed a little bit older than the others and was actually starting to grow moss on it. But it was intact enough that I took it with me.
I’d been working with Gideon that month, and when he saw me bring the doll in, he actually laughed at the sight of it.
“Found another one?” He asked.
“Down by the waterfall,” I replied, holding it up to show him. “Gotta say, this one doesn’t seem to be in all that bad shape!”
He just shook his head in disbelief.
“That’s easily the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen,” He said.
“Creepier than the moose head?” I asked. He raised an eyebrow but didn’t argue.
I spent that afternoon cleaning the moss baby while I waited for my bread to bake. Getting the moss out of his hair was the hardest part, and even when I was done it still had a greenish tint to it. When I got back from my rotation, Moss Baby was the second doll I posted online. Just like the first, nobody came forward to claim it.
Two months later and I found a crocheted baby doll on the beach. This one was in very rough condition, having almost completely dissolved into wet threads, but I kept it anyway and tried to put it back together. It became the third I posted, although I ended up throwing it out after trying and failing to put it back together for the better part of two weeks.
As time went by, the dolls in my apartment piled up. Every few months, I’d find one I thought I could save and brought it home with me. The office of my apartment started to become something of a museum, with shelves lined with the sea battered dolls I’d found. I started seeing them less as things I hoped to return and more as mementos of my days at the lighthouse. I even kept them beside some of the gifts I’d traded with my colleagues. A mounted elk skull I’d gotten from Gideon and a stained glass sign that Ashley had painted for me as a gift that read:
Advice From The Ocean Be shore of yourself Take time to coast. Avoid pier pressure Sea lifes beauty Don’t get tide down Make waves!
I still never really considered doll collecting to be my ‘weird hobby’ but it was still turning into a hobby, I suppose… right up until I found the red haired doll.
***
It was a clear night. Gideon, Ashley, and I were all working a rotation at the lighthouse and had decided that it was the perfect night for a campfire. Ashey had brought marshmallows for just a night like this and was greedily toasting one after another and shoveling them into her mouth while Gideon sat nearby, calmly reading a book.
I’d gone down to one of our sheds near the beach to get more firewood when in the light from my lantern I saw a speck of red among the rocks. I’d paused before going to investigate and finding yet another doll there.
This one was plastic, with an ugly moping face and frizzy red hair. Someone had scribbled all over her face with a marker, giving her big glasses and an attempt at a smile, although with her face bleached pale from the sun, it made her face look more like a grinning skull than anything else.
I held on to the doll while I grabbed the firewood and brought it back with me to the campfire. I’d barely even made it back when Ashley noticed the doll.
“Oh God… Gideon, he’s got another one!”
“Seriously? Steve, where do you keep finding these?”
“On the beach,” I said plainly as I set the firewood down and held up the doll for them to see.
“It’s official, this is the worst one yet,” Ashley said, popping another marshmallow into her mouth. “Does this one look chewed up too?”
I frowned and looked down at the doll.
“A little bit,” I admitted. “But you gotta admit, it’s one for the collection!”
“Oh, so now it’s a collection,” Gideon said. “You know the first step is admitting that you’ve got a problem.”
“That what you did with your deer heads?” I teased.
“It’s not a problem, it’s art,” He replied.
“Keep telling yourself that, buddy.”
In an effort to annoy my colleagues, I set the Sad Skull Girl (as she had just been christened) down by the fire beside me. Ashley just shook her head and smoothed back her long brown hair before sitting back and reaching for another marshmallow.
“Did anyone ever claim any of those dolls you’ve been collecting?” She asked.
“Nah, they’re sitting on a shelf at home,” I said.
“There’s a shelf now?” Gideon asked, “My dude, how many of these things do you have?”
“I dunno, seven. Eight, now I guess.”
He just shook his head in faux disgust.
“Crazy…”
“Hey, I’ve still got them up online,” I said. “Maybe one day, someone will claim one!”
I had no idea how prophetic those words would turn out to be.
***
I posted Sad Skull Girl to the usual places, asking if she belonged to anyone but I never expected to get a response.
First time for everything, I guess.
I woke up around a week after I’d posted her to an email from a woman named Lillie Thompson that read as follows:
Mr. Lawson A friend of mine has shown me the doll you posted to social media recently and I regret to inform you that I do recognize it. I have a close friend - Donald Trantham who’s granddaughter owned a doll identical to the one you shared. A doll who was with her at the time of her disappearance last year. Please Mr. Lawson, can you reach out to the St. John’s police? Show them what you gave found. Donald is a dear friend of mine. He and his family have suffered greatly from their loss and I want nothing more than to see them receive some closure. Yours - Lillie Thompson
I think it goes without saying that reading that email sent a chill through me. The markings on that doll were distinct. While I was sure that identical dolls existed out there, none of them would have had a face like Sad Skull Girl. Someone had drawn on her. Tried to change her face. Tried to make her smile.
And that someone had been missing for over a year now.
Obviously, I reached out to the St. John’s Police. I sent them photos of the doll I’d found, along with Lillie Thompson’s email. Then around three days later, I had the police knocking at my door. I answered their questions, told them where I’d found the doll, and even mentioned that Gideon and Ashley had been with me when I’d found it. I even showed them some of the other dolls I’d found washed up along the shore and let the police photograph them. I didn’t think that anything would come of it… but not even a week after they’d interviewed me, they came back.
Six of the seven dolls I’d found had been connected to children who’d gone missing in the past five years. The police took them as evidence, brought me in for questioning and I told them everything. They even brought in Gideon and Ashley to confirm my stories, since they’d been with me when I’d found a couple of the dolls.
Ultimately, I wasn’t arrested. My story stood up to every question they asked. But I was still shaken down to my core. All those dolls… the ones whose owners I could not find, were mementos from some missing child, and I couldn’t deny what that probably meant.
It was a few days after the police questioned me that Ashley invited me out for coffee. We didn’t live in the same city, but she’d come down to talk to the police and figured she’d check in on me while I was there.
“All those kids…” I said, staring lifelessly down into my cup, “And what about the dolls I didn’t save… how many more…”
“Hey… you had no way of knowing,” She said, putting a reassuring hand over mine. “And you were trying to do the right thing, posting those dolls, trying to see if anyone recognized them! If you hadn’t been doing that, then those parents wouldn’t have heard anything at all! The Police wouldn’t know where to look for…” She trailed off, not wanting to finish that sentence but I didn’t see any point in trying to spare my own feelings.
“Look for the bodies,” I said. I wasn’t stupid… I knew what the abandoned dolls probably meant.
Ashley gave a grim nod.
“You did what you could,” She said. “That’s all any of us can do.”
“Yeah… I guess…” I said softly, although I couldn’t help but feel like it wasn’t enough. Then again… what would be enough?
“And look on the bright side, you’re not a suspect anymore! So… there’s that!” She tried to force a smile but it seemed hollow.
“Yeah, and whoever the hell’s been doing all of this is still out there,” I said. “I never saw anywhere the dolls could have come from… I never… all I was able to tell the police was that it wasn’t me!”
Ashley’s fake smile faded. She shifted uncomfortably.
“What?” I asked and she sighed.
“Okay… well… that might not be entirely true,” She said. “When I was talking to the police, they asked me if I saw anything strange out at the lighthouse over the past few years. Something that might be connected to the dolls and… I dunno, maybe it was nothing but I remembered something.”
“Wait, really?” I asked, leaning in a little closer.
“Okay so, it could be nothing!” Ashley said, “I mean, it’s
probably nothing! But every now and then I saw this boat, out on the water. It wasn’t all that big. Gunmetal gray, kinda boxy looking. I usually saw it early in the morning. It only really popped up once every month or so but it was out there pretty frequently. And… look, maybe I’m just making a connection that isn’t really there, but sometimes I thought I saw him throwing something into the water. I always figured that the guy was just out there fishing… but with this stuff about the dolls…”
My stomach turned.
“You think it was him?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” Ashley said. “But the police asked if I remembered anything and that’s what I remembered!”
She took a sip of her coffee, her brow furrowed as she did.
“Maybe it’s nothing,” She said.
And maybe it was… I hoped it might be.

When it was time to rotate back to the lighthouse, I was almost afraid to go. I was even more afraid that Ashley and Gideon wouldn’t be there with me, but they were. Our first few days back were quiet and almost blissfully uneventful. We did our maintenance, we tended the light and we kept to ourselves. In the evenings, I baked bread while Gideon read and Ashley worked on her latest stained glass project and if ever any of us needed to go down to the beach, I let one of them do it.
I didn’t think I could handle finding another doll, knowing what it would probably mean.
For two weeks, we just sort of existed… until the morning where Ashley saw the boat again.
I’d been asleep when I heard her yelling, and coming down the stairs.
“Gideon! Steve, get on the radio!” She called.
I sat up, groggy and only half conscious as she burst into my bedroom.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“The boat,” She replied, a grave look in her eye and it took me a moment to realize what she meant.
Gideon had just barely poked his head out of his bedroom when I ran out. Ashley was already heading back out the door, a pair of binoculars in hand while I got on the radio to call the coast guard. I saw Gideon barreling down the stairs past me, running out the door after Ashley to watch the boat.
“This is Everfolk Point Lighthouse,” I said into the radio. “Calling in regarding a suspicious watercraft.”
I told them everything, before switching out with Gideon when he came back inside so I could see the boat for myself.
The gunmetal gray boat sat below the rocky cliffs in the distance, although seemed to be already moving away. Ashley offered me the binoculars and I took them, staring out at the distant boat.
Behind the wheel, I could see a man. He looked to be somewhere in his forties, with a thin scuff and dead eyes. He stared vacantly ahead, not even noticing us as he passed. I noted every detail of his face… knowing that I may need to identify him again.
He’d made it a good distance away from the cliffs when we saw the coast guards' ships arriving and as they boarded him, I felt a quiet sense of relief wash over me.
If this was the man… then they’d gotten him.
***
We heard nothing from the coast guard or the police over the next few days, although once my rotation ended and I made it back home, I heard plenty both on the local news and through a friend of mine who’d married a cop.
The man on that boat was identified as Brian Ligon. Apparently, he lived in a small cottage, outside of a town several kilometers down the coast from our lighthouse. And while they found no bodies in that cottage, they clearly found enough to arrest him.
“The way I heard it, the guy was completely nuts!” My friend said, “Soon as they booked him, he’d started screaming and ranting about how he had to kill those kids… how he was actually a good person and he had to ‘feed something’.” She’d shaken her head in disgust, “This is why I never ask about these things. It just makes me sad!”
“Well… I appreciate you asking for me,” I said.
My friend took a sip of her coffee, giving a frustrated sigh.
“Supposedly, he was throwing those dolls into the ocean because he believed their souls lived inside of them, and were feeding something in the water or something like that… either way it’s crazy.”
“Crazy…” I agreed, although my mind wandered back to the teeth marks I’d seen on some of the dolls.
I tried not to think too hard about it.
I read somewhere that Ligon was found dead in his cell the other night… and I can’t pretend that I don’t find the news of his death a little relieving. It’s clear to me that he was a monster… and that there are parts of this story that I do not want to or need to know. I’ve told myself that I won’t pry any further for the sake of my own mental health… I have enough nightmares about the dolls as it is now and there’s a very large part of me that just wants to forget that any of this ever happened.
But the questions still gnaw at me all the same.
Ligon was probably crazy… and when he said that he believed he was feeding something in the ocean, those were probably little more than the words of a deeply disturbed individual. But I can’t forget the teeth marks I saw in the plastic flesh of some of those dolls. I know it’s probably nothing, logically it has to be nothing!
And as I sit here tonight, staring at the only doll I have left, the first one I took from the beach, I can’t help but look at those old scars in her flesh and

She was getting good at it.

Advice From The Ocean
Be shore of yourself
Take time to coast.
Avoid pier pressure
Sea lifes beauty
Don’t get tide down
Make waves!
I still never really considered doll collecting to be my ‘weird hobby’ but it was still turning into a hobby, I suppose… right up until I found the red haired doll.

I posted Sad Skull Girl to the usual places, asking if she belonged to anyone but I never expected to get a response.
First time for everything, I guess.
I woke up around a week after I’d posted her to an email from a woman named Lillie Thompson that read as follows:
Mr. Lawson
A friend of mine has shown me the doll you posted to social media recently and I regret to inform you that I do recognize it.
“Okay so, it could be nothing!” Ashley said, “I mean, it’s probably nothing!

And as I sit here tonight, staring at the only doll I have left, the first one I took from the beach, I can’t help but look at those old scars in her flesh and wonder.
