2023.03.29 19:07 emmyeggo How the Starborn were created.

How the Starborn were created.
Now for a less unhinged theory (though, knowing me, that's not saying much lmao).
A question that plagues me about the Crescent City world right now:

Why does the Starborn line include people with both starlight AND shadow powers?

I've pondered lots of different explanations (ie. Theia having children with the Valg, a Prince of Hel etc) - but then how is Bryce's light so pure? How are there variations in the light?
And, why do Ruhn, Cormac, and the other Avallen Starborn fae have shadows - but Bryce doesn't?
To explore this further, I'm going to need to delve into Throne of Glass lore - so, TOG spoilers!

The Dread Trove.

There is an alarming similarity between the Cauldron having 3 black, magic "legs" - and the 3 black, magic wyrdkeys. We also know that when Rhys and Amren were about to die, they literally went through the Cauldron as a means to access the afterlife - or another world. Almost as if the Cauldron... is a wyrdgate.
Now, keeping this in mind, we also know the Cauldron created the Dread Trove. Is it then any coincidence that the abilities of these Dread Trove item... perfectly mirror the abilities of the wyrdkeys?
  • The Crown can control people. The wyrdkeys can control people (as they were used to make wyrdcollars and wyrdrings - which obviously controlled people in a near identical manner).
  • The Harp can open portals to different locations and realms. This is evidently one of the key features of the wyrdkeys.
  • The Mask can control the dead. Again, similar to the wyrdkeys, as it was stated that Erawan wanted the keys to create an army of dead people:
"He would not need to, not with all three keys. His control would be absolute. And he would not need living hosts - only bodies."
Then in addition to this, there is compelling evidence to suggest that the Horn is the 4th Dread Trove item. And, thinking about the power of the Horn - opening and closing portals between worlds - just like the wyrdkeys... it makes perfect sense.

Pelias.

We know that Pelias was Starborn. Pelias also wielded the Horn. In fact, the Horn was so strongly connected to Pelias, that Apollion had to steal Pelias's blood just to be able to use/track it.
But, Pelias just didn't wield the Horn - he wielded a Dread Trove item. A wyrdkey - or made of the same essence of the wyrdkey.
We also know that Ruhn (and presumably the Avallen fae - Ruhn's cousins), descended from Pelias.
So... how did we get from Pelias, who had the Starborn light - to a bunch of people with shadow powers...?

Kaltain Rompier.

(If you're a TOG reader, you probably know where I am going with this).
When a wyrdkey was embedded into Kaltain's arm, the essence of the wyrdkey mixed with her fire power, and created shadowfire.
Art by dianulala
Now, think back to Pelias.
If he is messing around with something made from wyrdkeys (the Horn)... and he mixes that with his starlight (so wyrdkey x starlight)... what would that create?
Shadows. Literally... black light.
He turned his light, into shadows. Explaining why his descendants (with Helena - Theia's youngest daughter) have shadow powers.
However, considering that Bryce and Ruhn can wield actual, proper starlight (from the Autumn King's line) - it suggests that Theia's other daughter was not corrupted in the same way... somehow (...she still remains a mystery).

Bryce.

But, this brings up another important point.
History is repeating itself, and Bryce - just like Pelias - now once again bears the Horn. It's inside of her - it is granting her special abilities.
If this theory is correct - and all of this leads back to the wyrdkeys...
How long until Bryce's starlight turns to shadows as well....?
Or, will there be a way to stop it?
(And, maybe the title of House of Flame and Shadow is actually referring to Bryce...)

Top 5 film and gaming projects that bombed

We’ve been entertained with mind-blowing graphics and storytelling for ages when it comes to gaming and films. Although that hasn’t always been the case, the industry has experienced unfortunate flops as well but in all honesty, sometimes it’s fun to watch or play horrible plots and glitchy game plays, they have their own charm, given it can be quite annoying. Let’s go down the rabbit hole of poorly executed video games and films.
Video games
LucasArts — Grim Fandango

Release date: October 30, 1998
Budget: $3 million
I had to do a review on this game because of its aesthetic which I absolutely adore, it’s like a mixture of Tim Burton meets the Day of the Dead. It was sad to see how badly it flopped until it got a remastered version back in 2015 which received high praise and excellent reviews. This game was a complete mess. It was a nightmare of puzzles that made no sense, weird pacing problems, vague objectives, tank controls… Again, I know that this will sound trollish and that virtually everyone who’s still reading has long since decided to hate me. But it was almost as if they were trying to engineer the worst possible game experience and accidentally arrived at a classic. LucasArts nailed the design element of this game, my god the game was beautifully designed, and the reviewers forgave all the errors within the game because of it, I mean I don’t blame them.

Overkill’s — The Walking Dead

Release date: November 6, 2018
Budget: $30 million
Received: $3.66 million
I was aware of the popular TV series Walking dead, I watched the first episode, and right off the bat I understood its reason for the popularity, the cool undead zombie costumes and makeup, the compelling storyline along with the outstanding performances by the actors, it has all the key ingredients for a successful franchise but unfortunately, I can’t say the same thing for their gaming series that is based on the famous comic books. The game was released in 2012 but they had to pull the plug after three months due to technical issues being faced by the team. After its release, it sold less than 100k units on PC according to the latest Starbreeze report, that’s just sad to hear from such a huge franchise! It received mixed reviews from the critics and players. Also, the simplicity of the game play didn’t do it any favors. Skybound Entertainment, who owns The Walking Dead franchise announced that it had broken off its contract with Starbreeze Studios saying “The Walking Dead did not meet our standards nor is it the quality that we were promised.” I mean as a gamer, I wouldn’t want to be associated with this type of game play as well.

Films

“Gods of Egypt”

Budget: 140 million USD budget
Box office: $150.7 million
Release date: February 26, 2016
Rating: 5.4/10 IMDB
Jeez, I remember watching this film with my family, and everyone was disappointed and irritated at the same time. I mean, the CGI looks cool and the idea is worth diving into but they fail to present the plot in a progressive manner. It’s like someone picked out their favorite characters from Egyptian history and made a movie out of them which absolutely no sense. It had a star-studded cast not to mention the beloved Chadwick Boseman from Black Panther, Geoffrey Rush, and Nikolaj Coster among others. I read some of the critic and audience reviews, sheesh, they were harsher than I was, and rightfully so, honestly. With a budget like that, you could have easily pumped out a satisfactory plot line if not exciting content like Mad Max.

“Robin Hood” (2018)

Release date: November 11, 2018 release date
Budget: 100 million USD
Box Office: 86.5 million USD
Rating: 5.3/10 IMDB
We all know the story of Robin Hood and his righteous ways of fighting for the feeble. The remake of 2018 flopped so bad it could be used as a curse. Though the lead actor has good looks he’s also known for the action thriller “Kingsman: The secret service” which was a fantastic watch, I prefer the animated version made in 1973, at least it was worth your time. I am glad about one thing, they replaced those terrible red tights Robin Hood used to wear. I remember watching the trailer for this when it first came out so I wanted to see what the audience thinks of it and sadly it got little to no recognition. Again, this could have been great if the storyline was well thought out. You can give it a watch, it isn’t terrible to the point where you’d want to switch it out for something more palpable.

“Cats” — 2019

Budget: 95 million USD
Box office: $75.5 million
Release date: December 20, 2019
Rating: 2.8/10 IMDB

Don’t even get me started on this one, I could foresee this disaster from a mile away. Who are you joking with? Did you see the trailer for this? Even as a cat lover I wasn’t amused or thrilled about this mess of a film. How do you describe a film experience that you know is going to be traumatic? Great actors from Judi Dench, Idris Elba, to Sir Ian McKellen, none of them thought this wasn’t a good idea? I mean come on people, I’m sure the life of a stray cat is more adventurous than what’s portrayed in this wreck of a film. Look, when you’re planning on gathering such a big cast for a film take a lesson from The Expendables, they did it right! I was done with it from the moment the first musical came on although watching the actors turn into unloveable cats was quite the cringe itself. What are your thoughts?

2023.03.29 19:00 Consistent-Toe-7408 [Routine Help] Would this routine be good for someone with oily skin?

I'm in my high school years and I've always had oily, acne-prone, dehydrated, sensitive skin. I've been researching skincare for a while now, it's just that I've never bought a whole lot of products yet. I've not been able to figure out the exact ingredients that have negative effects on my skin, so I'm kind of skeptical about whether the following products would work or not. However, I am aware of the types of issues I've been experiencing: extreme sebum production, some blackheads, clogged pores, whiteheads, blackheads, and classic pimples, especially on my forehead and near my nose (basically the T-zone). I've never experienced any extreme cases of acne or anything, but I've never been able to fully get rid of my skin concerns.
Current Routine:
  1. Gel cleanser: LA ROCHE-POSAY Effaclar Medicated Gel Facial Cleaner
  2. Toner: DR. DIFFERENT Scaling Toner for Oily Skin
  3. Exfoliant: PAULA'S CHOICE Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Salicylic Acid Exfoliant
  4. Moisturizer: LA ROCHE-POSAY Toleraine Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer
I've never really thought much about which products would be best for my skin until recently. The products I'm currently using were chosen based on some TikTok recommendations. I don't think any of them have caused anything bad except (possibly) the Paula's Choice BHA, but I feel like my current routine isn't good enough. I still struggle with many problems on a daily basis. After doing some research, this was the routine that I created:
DAILY AM
  1. Gel cleanser: COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser OR Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser
  2. Sunscreen: ROUND LAB Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen (Apparently moisturizing enough to also act as a moisturizer for those with oily skin)
DAILY PM
  1. Oil cleanser: MANYO Pure Cleansing Oil
  2. Gel cleanser: COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser OR Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser
  3. Toner: ISNTREE Green Tea Fresh Hydrating Face Toner
  4. Essence: COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence
  5. Serum: BEAUTY OF JOSEON Glow Serum: Propolis + Niacinamide
  6. Eye Cream: COSRX Advanced Snail Peptide Eye Cream
  7. Moisturizer: IUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream
PRODUCTS FOR OCCASIONAL USE (Not in order)
  1. Spot treatment: LA ROCHE-POSAY Effaclar Duo Acne Spot Treatment
  2. Exfoliant: Not sure
  3. Barrier cream: ETUDE SOON JUNG 2x Barrier Intensive Cream
  4. Sheet mask: INNISFREE My Real Squeeze Face Sheet Mask - Green Tea
  5. Facial Cream (secondary moisturizer): INNISFREE Dewy Glow Jelly Cream with Jeju Cherry Blossom
Could anyone verify if this routine is good, too much, or too little? Should I make some adjustments?

What sort of makeup would I suit?
Really vague question, I know 😂 normally I put black eyeshadow/eyeliner on my waterline, but I’m not sure it suits me. I can’t do super high eyeliner because of the way my eyelids crease either! Not a clue what would look best on me at all. I just have some lashes on in this pic & eyeshadow from the morphe x pony palette.

2023.03.29 18:59 acharismaticjeweller I had a negative experience on Cannabis and I need some serious advice.

Around two or three weeks ago, I (M,22) tried something called Bhang with my friends as a way to escape many of the emotional and psychological problems I was experiencing as a result of my poor academic performance and isolation. I had a bad and confusing experience because my friend gave me a higher dose than necessary, the effects of which I thought receded immediately after the trip. I was a very sad and anxious kid before I tried this drug. I was also someone who was straight edge, having only gotten drunk twice in my whole life.
It's been a month or so since the incident, and I can't help but feel my anxiety and fear have not only worsened but also started to manifest in actual physical symptoms. Two weeks ago, I was sitting in my dorm room and watching Youtube videos when randomly I could feel my heart race. It felt like I was losing breath and I perceived this very oppressive sense of loneliness. I had to leave the room immediately and look for people to talk to. I calmed down only after having a conversation with someone I found staying up late looking after a hurt puppy. I want to call it a panic attack, but that's only an uneducated guess. I only had that incident one more time again another day, during class. I thought that was the end of my encounter with the stimulant, until lately, every night, when I've been feeling this overwhelming sense of fear with the same physical symptoms that I previously mentioned: heart rate increase, difficulty breathing, sweaty palms, etc. I'm fine during the daytime, but the night feels especially scary, to the point where I felt like I had to tell my strict parents about my tryst with drug use. They had me see a therapist, and after I described everything to him, he prescribed me medication for anxiety and sleep.
First of all, anxiety is something that runs in my family, but simply being diagnosed for it feels underwhelming because it never manifested in any real physical symptoms until I tried the drug. Second, I've read before that psychoactive drugs can sometimes exhume and exacerbate mental illnesses that may have been latent in the mind of the user. I can't help but feel like that may have been what happened to me. Third, I feel, in essence, like I've lost innocence and that I'll never get it back. Fourth, as someone who can be in a very fragile state of mind, I think it was a damn near critical mistake to have a bad trip because, for the first time in my life, it gave me a sense of what it feels like to be disconnected from reality, and by extension, what going *crazy* can feel like. And that, I think, is knowledge that should've stayed forbidden to me, because now I'm constantly paranoid about losing myself and my sense of reality in the same way I felt during those few moments of being high. Fourth, sobriety used to be precious to me. It was an important aspect of my personality and self-image. I feel like I've messed with my psychological development irretrievably.
Fifth and I think this is important to note, my family went through a very rough and scary experience during the Covid pandemic when my brother started to develop symptoms of schizophrenia after a particularly horrifying experience with LSD. I was a witness to everything that happened to him during this period, and I feel like even though he has gotten better with the help of medication, he is still not completely out of it yet. Like his personality has been completely altered. It's the little details that tip me off about this. Like how he spends a lot of time in his room, consumed by his thoughts. Or how he flashes a smile at me sometimes that in a lot of ways feels fake, like he's putting up a front. Or how he seems to have lost so much of his signature wit, something I loved so much about him. He used to be one of the few people who could make me laugh so hard that I had to fall to the floor. Because his jokes came from a place of intelligence, and he is one of the smartest people I've ever known.
That's what it feels like to me too. I feel like I don't exactly remember who I was before I tried Bhang. Like I unwittingly followed in his footsteps and caused irreparable damage to myself. Some of the other symptoms I'm currently exhibiting include:

2023.03.29 18:58 Reasonable_Thinker If you're not using AI and ChatGPT to help run your games you are missing out! Huge timesaver and idea springboard.

Some of the things I use chatgpt for:
Describe me in the style of a dungeon master a beautiful medieval city with a moat and a drawbridge that is made up of Elves
As you approach the outskirts of the city, you can see the glittering towers and walls rising high into the sky. The entire city is encased within a massive moat, the water clear and sparkling, and filled with schools of colorful fish. The drawbridge, made entirely of smooth, polished wood, is guarded by two elven sentries, clad in silver armor and holding spears with pointed tips.
Once you cross the drawbridge, you enter the city proper, and the true beauty of the elven architecture reveals itself. The streets are lined with tall, slender buildings made of wood, stone, and crystal, all crafted with the finest elven craftsmanship. The roofs are steeply pitched and adorned with delicate carvings of leaves, flowers, and other natural motifs.
The city center is dominated by a massive tree, its trunk as wide as a house, and its branches stretching up towards the sky. The tree is surrounded by a wide, circular plaza, where elven musicians and dancers perform under the stars.
Throughout the city, you can see evidence of the elven love of nature, with gardens, fountains, and parks tucked into every corner. The air is perfumed with the scent of blooming flowers, and the sound of singing birds and rustling leaves fills your ears.
Despite its beauty, the city is not without its defenses. The walls are thick and sturdy, with towers at strategic intervals, each manned by skilled elven archers. The moat is filled with water so clear that it's almost invisible, making it nearly impossible for enemies to sneak up on the city undetected.
As you explore the city, you can't help but feel a sense of peace and tranquility that seems to emanate from every stone and leaf. It's clear that the elves have created a place of great beauty and harmony, and one that they will fiercely defend.
This took 5 seconds... am I going to read the whole thing to my party? no, but ill take a few bits and rearrange others.
Or for instance
please write some dungeons and dragons lore for a race of good natured but very scary looking bat-people who live in caves and can fly
The bat-people, known as the Chiroptera, are a race of creatures that live deep within the caves of the world. They are a reclusive people who are rarely seen by outsiders, and their frightening appearance often leads to misconceptions about their nature. Despite their fearsome looks, the Chiroptera are actually quite peaceful and have a strong sense of community.
The Chiroptera are a highly intelligent race, and their ability to fly has given them a unique advantage in navigating the treacherous cave systems they call home. They have evolved to have strong wings and keen senses, which allows them to navigate through the darkness with ease. Their eyes are adapted to low-light conditions, and their echolocation abilities allow them to detect movement and objects even in complete darkness.
The Chiroptera are a deeply spiritual people, and they believe that their wings are a gift from the gods. They view their ability to fly as a symbol of their connection to the divine, and they often use their wings as a focus for their prayers and rituals. Despite their religious beliefs, the Chiroptera do not try to convert outsiders to their faith and are generally accepting of other beliefs.
While the Chiroptera are generally peaceful, they are not defenseless. They have sharp claws and teeth, and their ability to fly makes them formidable opponents. However, they prefer to use diplomacy and negotiation to resolve conflicts whenever possible.
The Chiroptera are also highly skilled at crafting, and they are known for their intricate designs and beautiful jewelry. They use materials found within the caves, such as gems and precious metals, to create their works of art. They are also skilled farmers, growing crops in the few areas of the cave that receive enough light to support plant life.
Overall, the Chiroptera are a fascinating race with a rich culture and a deep connection to the natural world. While their appearance may be intimidating, those who take the time to get to know them will find that they are a kind and hospitable people.

2023.03.29 18:58 RobleViejo I made a strong ahh RSO that looks like tar and tastes like earth. A fullspoon got me high for over 12hs. What is RSO and how to make it.

Just a spoonfull got me wasted even tho my tolerance is super high, I should be on a T-break right now. I took some last night after dinner and woke up still high, now Ive just gobbled down a spoonfull with an empty stomach. It feels like a cloud slowly forming around you, soft and squishy. Super relaxing stuff. Strong, determinated but also super chill and friendly. I love smoking but eating weed is just the best.
Anyway, lets do some explaining. RSO is an acronym for "Rick Simpson Oil" he was a Canadian engineer working at a hospital in 1997, tasked to work on some asbestos-covered pipes in a boiler room. When he developed cancer he started taking medical cannabis and later started growing his own plants and making his own extracts. He came up with using the whole plant to preserve some plant material in the final product. And he is adamant that his cancer was cured by a daily microdosing of this oil.
RSO is a dark and sticky tar-like cannabis extract that can be ingested in any way (can be ieaten, smoked if fully dried or even applied on the skin). A solvent (Ethanol) is used to extract the cannabinoids, terpenes and additional compounds from the whole cannabis plant. The extraction process is similar to making a tincture or an essential oil. It’s typically near-black greenish in color and doesn’t taste great due to its high amount of plant matter (it uses the whole plant).
I will give the steps I use to make RSO, this is my personal take on it:
You will need:
- A Plant (you can use the whole thing, only the buds if you want, or only leaves after harvest, hermies that were not worth flowering, plants lost to weather, or even male plants. I make RSO so I dont waste anything at all from my grows) - Around 2lts of Ethanol (this will be dried out but it needs to be a safe alcohol for Human consumption, a very strong vodka could also work but I've never tried) - An electric grinder or a blender (a juice blender will work as long you are gentle with it, grinding dry stuff is harder on the engine, do it slowly) - 2 big pots to double boil (they will get dirty and sticky but they can be cleaned easily later) - A fine mesh metallic strainer (if you use coffee filters, cotton or stuff like that you are making cannabis oil, RSO keeps some plant matter but only the fine stuff) - A fan (this is to blow away the Ethanol vapors) - VERY IMPORTANT: Do it in a very well ventilated place.
Steps:
- Use the whole plant. Let it dry and oxidize off some chlorophyll for 1 - 2 weeks. - Separate the leaves and buds from stems. - Lightly toast for half an hour in medium heat oven (you should smell ammonia, it should look brownish kinda like tobacco). - Grind as fine as possible. - Put all this dusty plant material in the top pot of the double-boiler (water in the bottom pot obviously) and pour Ethanol until all plant material is covered. - You will need to stand there looking at it, with open windows and your fan behind you blowing off the vapors. - After 30 minutes have passed, grab a third pot and use the metallic strainer. You will need to apply some pressure because the plant material is like a sponge. Some plant material (the finest dust like particles) will go through the strainer, this is part of the process so dont worry about it, which a very fine filter you would remove everything and get pure oil. You can strain once or twice, then put it back on the double-boiler. - Water evaporates at 100ºC, Ethanol at 78ºC. When the bottom pot with water starts boiling you will see some bubbles in the Ethanol mix, lower the stove to medium. The temperature will never be high enough to destroy the THC, but keep stirring at all times anyways because that dusty stuff tends to stick to the bottom. Because this is still dissolved in Ethanol it feels flowy like water, but the oil is very sticky once the alcohol dries out. - Once it gets slightly thick turn the stove off. Take this mix somewhere with good air flow and place the fan blowing towards it. - After some days (maybe a week if you live in a place with high humidity, maybe two days with low humidity) it will turn into a goopy pitch-black tar, the oily stuff in it (cannabis oil) looks green-yellow against the light. Make sure it doesnt smells like ethanol anymore. - Because RSO preserves plant material it can be consumed in any way. It can be ingested directly, you can put a spoonfull in some tea, it can be used for cooking (it has a very strong flavor, but is not really bad and you dont need to use so much it overrides the food), and it can even be completely dried out by spreading it thin on rice or baking paper over a tray, this way it can be smoked (its kinda like hash, I guess if you only use flowers it is technically hash). And it can even be applied directly to the skin and that means that yes! You can B00F IT!
How the extraction process works:
THC is not soluble in water, but it dissolves in alcohols (also in lipids/fats, thats how canna-butter is made). THC is like any plant's oil, this process can be repeated with any plant to make essential oils, like lavender or lemon. The alcohol is used to take the THC away from the plant material, and then its evaporated to concentrate these oils. With a very fine filter you remove all plant material to get pure cannabis oil, RSO on the other hand retains some plant material. Also the THC is not "active" until it is heated, the plant has THC-A which is non-psychoactive, when you apply heat it decarboxylates (toasts) into THC the one that can get you high. This is why is both toasted and heated. Im pretty sure if you do this process on cold you would get a non-psychoactive version of it.
Anyhow, I will blast away now.
Keep being chill my dudes.

2023.03.29 18:57 MjolnirPants Jerry and the Apocalypse: Part 59

Part 58
Dylan Boucher, So Close...
Dylan emerged from the trees at a dead run and then stopped. The carnage before him was a shock. Blood soaked the ground. Dead limbs lay entwined with each other and disemboweled guts. Heads sat separated from their bodies. Limbs were strewn about.
Unlike the bodies that littered the streets of this place, these were fresh. The flesh was livid on the bottoms where the remaining blood had settled, pale on the tops where the blood had drained. It was women and children, he noted. No men.
Some kind of a slaughter had taken place. He thought of rampaging armies of old, defeating the men on the battlefield, and then riding into the town to rape and pillage. Some of the bodies were naked, mostly the adult women.
There were supposed to be no survivors on this world. No immigrants from other worlds, because the flora and fauna, including soil microbes, was as dead as the people. No food could be grown here, no cattle could graze. And so, even though this world had died so very long ago, nothing living should have been here.
Except Dylan.
And the beast that pursued him.
He moved on, refusing to let himself be drawn into this new mystery. The identity of these people didn't matter to him. They were most likely servants of one of the gods arrayed against Vindicta, slaughtered in the fighting.
The spire was no longer a distant landmark. It towered over him, requiring him to crane his neck to see the top. Even then, he could not see the peak itself, but the top of the vertical rise, before it began to come to a point six thousand feet above him. The spire was made of the same rock as the surrounding mountains, set in the exact center of a bowl-shaped valley, separated from the much larger valley to the east by a single ridge line. The surface was cracked and ridged, looking almost like a natural feature, this close.
He circled around the field of bodies to approach the spire. As he approached, an opening at the base resolved itself.
Another roar sounded behind him, but he was finally here. He glances back, seeing wisps of black smoke in the trees, about a hundred yards away. He hurried inside the crack in the rocky face of the spire, and then froze again in awe at what he saw there.
----
Jane, Goddess of Knowledge and Learning
Jane smashed her opponent away from her with a massive tidal wave of despair and used the opportunity to take a breath. The clawing at her divinity relented as the despair soaked in and the other goddess sank to her knees.
Two years, Jane thought. Two years of unending combat, sending out avatars to handle her responsibilities while she held Sarisa engaged in a fight to the death.
Well, maybe calling it a fight to the death was a little dramatic. Neither could kill the other. They fought for each other's divinity. Sarisa desperate to reclaim what was once hers, Jane desperate to stop her and prevent her plans from coming to fruition.
Dramatic though it may be, it was not inaccurate. Sarisa knew how to destroy a god with no divinity. And Jane knew that death would be coming for Sarisa, if only she could hold out long enough.
The artificial emotions ran their course and Sarisa returned, flying towards her, metaphysical talons extended to claw at Jane's divinity. Jane brought her own might forward, tearing at Sarisa's divinity.
Jane had more power. Even with fewer divinities, the advantages her portfolio brought her, and the sheer amount of power it gave her far outstripped Sarisa's stolen divinities. But Sarisa was a veteran of the War of the Gods, a devious, cunning, experienced warrior. As the two goddesses clashed, energies flew wild. Sleeping beings across sixteen living worlds saw their dreams twisted into nightmare, or watched their nightmares turn to farcical nonsense. Aged, sick and injured beings breathed their last breaths, then, instead of passing away, gasped for air as death left them. Yet more beings suddenly fell over, bereft of life in a manner that would baffle any investigation into their deaths. Hustlers slid Aces of Diamonds out of their sleeves only to find a Two of Clubs in its place, or lifted wallets only to find them stuffed with cash and little folded post-it notes with passwords and usernames scrawled on them. Students, researchers and investigators celebrated sudden insights into the mysteries they explored, or stared answers in the face, uncomprehending.
Despite the chaos that stretched across the planes, both goddesses stopped as they met. Sarisa was too cunning, Jane too strong. As they had for the past two years, they battled at a stalemate.
"You can't win," Sarisa snarled.
"I don't need to," Jane replied cryptically. One difference between herself and Sarisa was that Sarisa always struggled not to boast. For Jane, keeping her plans to herself was second nature.
"I have the knowledge I need," Sarisa said. "And Dylan has already reached the spire."
"That changes nothing," Jane replied.
"The primordials are here. They will enact the ritual, soon."
"They will try," Jane agreed.
"Your efforts to strip my power are futile, bitch," Sarisa growled, pummeling Jane with magic that made dense crystals grow from her core, encasing her and muting her magic. Jane began to vibrate, seeking out the frequency that would shatter the crystals.
"I took Inanna and her children!" Sarisa shouted defiantly. "I found what I needed inside of them. I laid their bodies at Jerry's feet and let him spend his rage killing an avatar! I infected his dreams, and led the gods to war against the primordial army, with none of them even suspecting that was but an avatar. I've ensnared Jerry, impregnated the avatar, and the host will be born in a matter of months! Dylan survived Ixlublotl's hunt, as I knew he would. All of your efforts to entrap me have been for nothing!
"You think you're so smart, as smart as me, but knowledge is useless on its own! You need to know how to use it. You need intelligence, and you need experience. Far more experience than your paltry three decades of existence, foolish child!"
Jane found the right frequency and shattered the crystals encasing her. She knew quite a few things that would dampen Sarisa's spirits, but before she said anything, she modeled how it would affect the fight.
Emotionally, Sarisa was highly unstable. Mentally, she was still every bit as dangerous as ever. Possibly more so, as she was using her powerful mind with far more discipline and care, now that she lacked the knowledge domain.
But as she modeled out, she realized that a certain kind of dig would unsettle her opponent. Jane smiled.
"Your avatar's not pregnant. She's on Jerry's side, idiot. You knew what you were doing when you made her, and yet you still let her cut off her connection to you. She loves him as fiercely as you ever did, and you made her free of the taint of your own scheming. It was inevitable."
"You're lying," Sarisa snarled, throwing herself back into the fight. She slashed and stabbed and pushed with magic and emotion and thought. Her frantic assault betrayed her, and left her vulnerable. Jane timed her attack just right and drove a lance of cold heartache into Sarisa's core.
As Sarisa gasped, Jane used every ounce of willpower to form a lie, something she found so difficult to do these days. But this lie helped her, and hurt nobody but Sarisa. It was worth the effort.
"Jerry loves her back, Sarisa. He's christened her Avarisa, and already envisions rebuilding his life with her. They lay together at night, after making love, and whisper to each other of what the future holds."
"LIAR!" Sarisa screamed. She flickered and formed a body. Tears streaked down the body's face as she flung herself at Jane, physically striking and clawing, kicking and biting.
Jane formed her own body and met Sarisa's. They punched, kicked, headbutted, scratched, elbowed, pulled hair and kneed each other. Wounds healed as fast as they were formed. Sarisa was wild with rage, vulnerable. But Jane was spent from the effort of lying. She modeled the possibilities and decided that continuing to expend energy on lying was worth it. Her expenditure of effort was linear, whereas the effects it had on Sarisa were logarithmic. She fought and awaited the opportunity she knew Sarisa would present her.
"You're a liar!" Sarisa shouted. "A bad one, no less! You expect me to believe a man with wounds so new is entwined in a fresh romance?!"
"They mourn together, fool," Jane said in a condescending, yet sympathetic tone. "Avarisa is innocent of your crimes. Her love is pure. She wanted him to be happy, even if not with her. Don't pretend you don't know this, Sarisa."
Sarisa snarled, growled and then cracked and screamed. Jane marveled at the way a hint of truth could make a lie so much more potent, but she could not stop now.
"They weep together. He for his loss, she for his sadness. And do you know what made it possible?"
Jane struck out, seizing Sarisa's face in her hands and pressing a palm to her ribs, pumping the knowledge of the true parts of her lie into the other goddess to drive it home.
"Because he loved you, you idiot," Jane hissed into Sarisa's ear. "Perhaps he did not let himself lust after you, but you were his best friend. He cared for you so very much... Had you just told him how you feel, he'd have indulged you, and together, you could have turned platonic love to romantic. And he remembers that. He seeks to do exactly that with Avarisa."
Sarisa was done screaming and raging and crying. She dropped to her knees and let her body dissolve, until the bare goddess floated there.
"It doesn't matter," she said numbly.
"The Plan is what matters. And The Plan is succeeding. Dylan will seize the divinity and become the Godborne, holding it in trust for the vessel. The vessel will become the savior of humanity."
"There is no vessel, Sarisa," Jane said, her relief at being able to speak the truth unmeasured. "Avarisa turned from you, I just told you this. She is not pregnant. She will not allow herself to become pregnant until you are defeated."
"Then I will carry the vessel myself," Sarisa said. Jane laughed. Her desperation was obvious.
"The last goddess to carry a child was Ninhursag, and you know what happened to Ningur. To that child."
Jane, still in her body, knelt next to Sarisa's being. "Is that your plan? A mentally feeble new god? An emperor of mankind with the mind of a child?"
"It won't be that way..."
"You lack the ability to carry a child to begin with, Sarisa. Of course it won't be that way."
Jane could sense the rising anger. She modeled the future again. Not much longer. Not compared to the years their fight had dragged on. She only had to hold out for a matter of hours, now. Days, at most.
She braced herself, slipping back out of the body and controlling it remotely. She waited.
Sarisa exploded without warning, tearing Jane's body apart. She screamed and raged, savaging the physical remains, gouging them in an attempt to rip Jane's divinity away. She failed, of course. Just as she had a million times already. Just as Jane had failed a million times, herself.
The fight resumed again, even fiercer now.

Sookie, Can't Wait to Finish This Because She's Got Shoots Coming Up in a Few Weeks
Sookie quickened her steps to catch up to Azzazu. "Hey," she said as she drew abreast of the dark god. He glanced over, his features shaded by his hood.
"Hello," he said.
"How ya doing?" Sookie asked. Azzazu sighed, then smirked and met her eyes. "Do you want to go find a soft patch of ground?" he asked, his voice making his words a concession.
"No," Sookie said. "Well, yes, if you're down. I mean, I'll never turn down a good dicking. But I just wanted to talk. For now."
Azzazu chuckled. "Very well," he said. "What did you wish to talk about?"
"Why are you the only one?" Sookie asked.
"The only one what?"
"The only one of the gods to come with us. To reason it out, the way you explained to Gary."
Azzazu pointed at Kratos' back.
"I know," Sookie said, "But that was Saerdwen. She took a liking to Jerry, I heard. Not that I blame her. But Kratos is following her lead. He didn't reason it out, like you did."
Azazzu shrugged. "You'd have to ask the other gods. I suspect a few could have been convinced to come with us, had we the time to do so."
After a moment, he went on. "I suspect, however, that many are as afraid of Sarisa as they are of Jerry."
"But they're willing to let her win," Sookie pointed out.
"They don't think it would be all that bad if she did. She's never turned on the other gods and tried to destroy us. She never created a means of killing the gods."
"But you said they're afraid of her."
"She led the younger gods," Azzazu said. "In the war, I mean. Even after, she was always among the most important of us. The most respected. Her domain saw to that, and her character... She had many friends and was looked up to by those she wasn't friends with. And of her enemies... Every enemy she has had was defeated."
"A celebrity," Sookie said. Azzazu nodded. "Yes, a celebrity goddess. A hero goddess."
"So they don't really believe in their hearts that Sarisa can be defeated."
"I suspect not."
"But you do."
Azzazu stopped, turning and cocking his head at her.
Sookie smiled, a beatific, empty, innocent smile. "More to the point, you believe that Jerry can kill her, and you think him getting our help makes it a lot more likely."
Azzazu narrowed his eyes. "Your reputation does not do you justice."
"I know!" Sookie said brightly. She swatted Azzazu's arm. "Everybody thinks that just because I'm the biggest slut in the universe, I must be a total bimbo, too. And I have to admit, I have my moments. Like not being able to resist hitting on Chris every change I get. But I mean, have you seen him? Ree-ow. Hot. Steamy and dreamy.
"But I'm not a complete idiot. And I've had a lot more responsibilities lately. It's making me use my brain a lot more. And frankly, if it comes down to betting on Jerry versus Sarisa, my money's on Jerry."
"You were there," Azzazu said. "You stood against her."
"Yeah, but it was Inanna who beat me," Sookie said. She sighed, her smile fading. "Inanna was the real deal."
They began to walk again, letting a silence stretch out.
"You said all of her enemies lay defeated," Sookie said. Azzazu nodded. "They do."
Sookie shook her head. "Jerry fought her and won."
"I heard that had more to do with Grandfather's involvement," Azzazu said.
"Ixy," Sookie corrected. "Yeah, but isn't making allies a part of what it means to be powerful? Besides, Jerry right now is a lot more powerful -and dangerous- than the Jerry I first met, whom I'd bet was more powerful than when he beat her, last time."
"Your confidence in your friend is inspiring," Azzazu said.
"The power of positive thinking!" Sookie announced, before explaining. "I'm prepared to fight tooth and nail. Jerry fought for me when I couldn't, even the day we learned about Inanna and their kids, he fought for me. I'll fight for him. And Yarm, and Gary and Chris... And the others here, they'll fight to. Perhaps not all for the same reasons, but we'll all fight. And there's no way Sarisa can stand against all of us."
"I wouldn't be so sure," Azzazu said. "She knows what she's doing, and to be completely honest, your friends seem to make it up as they go."
"That's our secret," Sookie said. "We're flexible. No matter how complicated your plans, no matter what forces you bring to bear, we'll never be caught unprepared, because we don't prepare."
Azazzu chuckled, so Sookie grabbed his arm.
"You see that tree, right there?" She pointed out a larger tree that was a few dozen feet off their path.
"I do," he said.
"If you shove me up against it and fuck my brains out, I bet we can knock it over."
"Hmmm," Azzazu said, raising a hand to rub his chin. "I don't think we can. The roots of that kind grow deep."
"Well, I guess there's only one way to find out, isn't there?" Sookie said. Azzazu grinned at her. The expression seemed a little odd on such a somber face, but Sookie knew what it meant. She was going to get her way.
"I suppose there is. Let's go find out," he said. Sookie took his hand and led him through the dead forest, giggling.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Shazam! Fury of the Gods would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so on.As
Shazam! Fury of the Gods neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).
“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Shazam! Fury of the Gods.)
“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind… all these characters interact. That's why you see in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, we acknowledge everyone: Batman , Superman , Wonder Woman, Flash, we acknowledge everybody. There's also some Easter eggs in there, too.So that's what I meant by the resetting. Maybe resetting' wasn't a good term.only
In addition to being Johnson's DC Universe debut, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill's Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.
“They kept that all the way under wraps, and I didn't know until maybe a day or two before the premiere,” he recently said Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2022) FULLMOVIE ONLINE
Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods Available On Hulu?Viewers are saying that they want to view the new TV show Shazam! Fury of the Gods on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
Is Shazam! Fury of the Gods Streaming on Disney Plus?
Unfortunately, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is not currently available to stream on Disney Plus and it's not expected that the film will release on Disney Plus until late December at the absolute earliest.
While Disney eventually releases its various studios' films on Disney Plus for subscribers to watch via its streaming platform, most major releases don't arrive on Disney Plus until at least 45-60 days after the film's theatrical release.
The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year's third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film's $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it's not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It'd be another story if audiences didn't love the film, but the positive reception suggests that Shazam! Fury of the Gods will outperform the legs on this year's earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).ryy
As for the rest of the box office, there's little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Black Panther opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Black Panther films and there's still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is the biggest grosser of the rough post-summer, pre-Shazam! Fury of the Gods season, came in second with just $8.6 million. Despite the blockbuster competition that arrived in its fourth weekend, the numbers didn't totally collapse, dropping 53 % for a cume of $151 million. Worldwide it is at $352 million, which isn't a great cume as the grosses start to wind down considering its $200 million budget. Still, it's the biggest of any film since Shazam! Fury of the Gods, though Shazam! Fury of the Gods will overtake it any day now.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season's most durable grossers and one of the year's few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )
, which isn't surprising considering it's the only family film on the market, and it's Shazam! Fury of the Gods to grossing four times its $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget , though a number of international markets have yet to open.
Finishing up the top five is Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which had its biggest weekend drop yet, falling 42% for a $2.3 million seventh weekend. Of course, that's no reason to frown for the horror film, which has a domestic cume of $103 million and global cume of $ 210 million

2023.03.29 18:52 IzayaKnowsEverything Living a toxic lifestyle with Toxic family members.

I was told I should post my issues here since I REALLY need some insight on these problems:
So basically I come from a third world country. I'm 21(F), living with a family of 7 (parents included). My parents are quite old. Father in his seventies and mother in her fifties. Both are pretty screwed from a medical stand point and my mother is clinically depressed. That goes without saying, they both do not work or earn for the family (which I have no right to blame them for obviously despite their negligence towards physical health-care)
Then there's my two oldest siblings, one of whom, female. The only one actually working and earning for the family. In her late twenties. Then there's my oldest brother, who is your classic 30 year old "wizard", very efficient at freeloading and being unemployed. Then there's me, my sister who is 2 years older than me and my younger brother who is 2 years younger. The 3 of us have our education on hold because we are struggling financially. My younger brother has given up on studying, my sister is having difficulties applying to universities (since we barely have the expenses) and I'm still trying to give high school exams (privately) so I can apply for scholarships.
The problem is... And it's pretty complicated to put it in words but
Over the course of 6-7 years of being broke, my family has pretty much isolated themselves from the outside world. My parents like I said, barely have the strength and energy to work so they most just do work inside the house or not do anything. My big brother is the same or rather towards extremes. He has an IT degree yet he still chooses to stay unemployed because he fears "earning" for the family and perhaps content with the fact that he gets to act like a king inside the house, since hoarding food and other necessities is what he excels at. He is the literal definition of lifeless and that's putting it lightly.. My mom on the other hand behaves similarly except not to the extent of my brother. For a woman, she's very misogynistic. Weird huh? Me and my 2 sisters, are always subjected to her verbal misogynistic abuse in the household and yet She barely says anything to my two brothers because my youngest brother basically lives for her, fulfills her every command while neglecting his own needs. My oldest brother though
He is very violent, so my mom caters to him as a way of keeping his violence at bay because if he wants, he can scream at or threaten anyone if he wanted to.
So here's where it gets weird.. Aside from my education and skilled based hobbies, I like to game as a way to relieve stress since that's the only way I can entertain myself. I'm not allowed to go out because I'm a female, according to my parents. Due to that I don't have an actual social life. I study and do things around in my room 24/7 (even working out). So in a way I'm lifeless as well since where I live, I'm not even eligible for jobs. If I was a male, I could get direct labour intensive jobs in a construction site to earn for myself. Because even just me trying to look for a job is somehow an offense to my older brother and my mom because they have the most vocal reactions when a woman:
Speaks for herself or tries to find a reason to venture outside the house because if they want to go out so badly they must want to do it for the wrong reasons (cultured-brainwashed mentality).
And most of the house work is just done by me and my sisters, while the males get to use up extra time they're privileged with just to waste it even more while me and my sisters who actually want to study and work. We are stuck spending hours on chores because as per my mother's request, the males should not work because they have more worth than the females.
And when me or my sisters talk about this unfairness. Both my big brother and mother get verbally violent to shut us up quickly so we have no way to refute their nonsensical-traditionally-brainwashed ideologies.
Earlier I mentioned I like to game right? So whenever an argument in the household happens, they like to "blackmail" me by saying they'll take my computer away since they know that's my only source of information and entertainment (they bought me the PC 9 years ago and they also know I can't afford to buy a new pc as well) furthermore they would even threatened to not pay for my exams.
So eventually I'm stuck feeling FRUSTRATED and UPSET every now and then at the helplessness that I can't speak up properly because I end up crying out in stress that I can't have anything in this household. Even once when I spoke up for my younger brother that he should be encouraged to study and use his time to do something productive with his life than to be a 24/7 errand boy for my mom and brother. Like I really want to emphasize the ridiculousness of my older brother: he would be standing near a water tank and still demand a glass of water from my younger brother who would be occupied doing his own thing. Like this kind of behaviour is so common in my household and watching this toxicity on a daily basis feels so wrong to me to the point I can't even handle it. I tried speaking up to my mother so many times even in a very soft manner(because with her, it's always me stepping on eggshells), it always results in her screaming at me and making me feel so extremely uncomfortable. In addition, claiming that there's no way a female such as myself has any right to speak to her mother or refute her in anyway....and yet she never tries to be so unbearably toxic towards her sons.. Heck! I made some male friends online and when I tried to voice chat with them, both my mom and big brother demoralised my action to the point that I don't even enjoy talking and gaming with my friends anymore. (They thought I would do something explicit or inappropriate over voice chat just because I was talking to males my own age...like where's the logic in that?)
Honestly I could go on and on about how toxic this family is. They all prefer to just stay indoors and feed their toxicity on a regular basis. Since none of the family members can go anywhere and be away from each other (since we also don't have our own car and Uber is costly for a regular outing) for a few days at least, having no break from each other in this household has made everyone so frustrated, immature and painfully obnoxious. I feel as though I can't really express the feelings of anguish and hopelessness I have stored within me for years. I don't want to say this but it has made me really suicidal despite how much I am trying to thrive in this little room. Trying so hard to make sure I'm eligible for jobs so I can be independent and hopefully.. Get the hell out of this country as soon as possible, I just can't live like a normal person here. It's either I somehow become numb to the regular toxicity or accept the fact that if I venture out in this country, knowing how high the crime and r*pe rate is, I probably die either way, mentally or physically.
I just need to pick my poison. It's worse knowing my sisters are going through the same thing but due to my own mental instability, I can barely provide them the comfort they deserve. We are stuck being treated like maids and aside from our needs, when there are times when we actually WANT something, we always get reminded of how poor we are
But sadly, The males in my family don't have to go through this...
Anyways, I believe I wrote too much, this is the first time I have written something like this in public, I believe I really wanted some help I guess? Or perhaps advice? I think I made my friends sick of having to listen to my rants since honestly it's pretty hard to remain unbothered by all of this. I also think, seeking help is better than succumbing to suicidal thoughts and frustration which cloud my mind on a daily basis and prevent me from focusing on the things I want to focus on. The finances my family currently have are going to run out one day, my sister who works, her salary literally pays all the bills for the month so expecting her to save more money is rather selfish.. So thinking about how grave the situation will be when we eventually lose everything, I'm not sure I'm prepared for it. But with the way my family has been living, I can be assured that, that day isn't too far away.
Thank you so much if you've read this far. I suppose I really needed some advice on this. I truly hope no one here has to go through such toxicity, I can't deny the possibility but I hope, like me, you'll reach out for help too cuz hey! If decent people don't exist around you, they probably exist elsewhere I hope.

(Previous Part)
(Part 001)
...
Some time earlier, in a part of the Milky Way Galaxy hidden from the gods themselves...
The Hall of Heroes.
Hope Hiro's greatest construction hovers inside a void of brilliant luminosity: A golden palace of incredible size, capable of comfortably housing the thousand artifacts he seized from the Volgrim.
The Hall of Heroes resides within an alternate dimension not unlike Jason Hiro's 'Chrona Realm.' However, while Jason's special dimension has been maximally upgraded to a TDR (Time Dilation Ratio) of 250:1, Hope's has only reached a TDR of 100:1. As for why this is the case, the answer lays in the biggest difference between his realm and Jason's.
The Hall of Heroes... is filled with Heroes.
With so many powerful artifacts concentrated in one realm, Hope simply cannot accelerate the flow of time beyond a certain level without destabilizing reality and killing himself in the process. This judgment, delivered by Solomon himself, is what gives Hope the final assurance he can push no further.
After spending a few days with Solomon building the palace according to the Knowledge-Seeker's specifications, Hope finally takes a day to rest.
Inside this time-accelerated domain, a few days will only require an hour or two in the outside world. Hope strolls about with Solomon's corporeal figure, a much more realistic projection compared to the one Jason used to summon when he possessed the Crown.
"What now?" Hope asks.
"Now that we have built this Hall, you should begin a series of tasks to accelerate your learning process." Solomon responds. "I already spent six years training Jason. Inside a realm like this, you can leapfrog your other self and become a far more proficient combatant and leader compared to him."
"Right, I understand that much." Hope says, reaching out to pick up one of the artifacts at random, a pearl-like orb just big enough to fill up the palm of his hand. "I'm asking what I need to do specifically."
Solomon gestures to the relic in Hope's grasp. "You've obtained almost a thousand artifacts from the Volgrim. Frankly, I only recognized a tenth of them on my own. Luckily, the Volgrim knew of the vast majority of their identities, so that will alleviate much of our troubles with identifying them. You should spend one day with each artifact, learning who their original owners are, what abilities they can offer, and how you can integrate them into your future battles."
"One day for each..." Hope says slowly, as a frown crawls across his face. "But there are nearly a thousand! That'll take three years!"
Solomon shrugs. "Why do you think I had you construct this Hall of Heroes? You require time to assimilate your gains, boy. The Volgrim will be too fearful to make a move against you, for now, but I worry they might make a move against your woman. You should bring Amelia here, where they can't reach her. Then you won't be stuck with only me for the whole duration."
Hope's frown eases. "That's a good point. The Volgrim might target her... but what about Neil? Shouldn't I bring him here, too?"
"Tsk, tsk." Solomon clicks his tongue. "You've much to learn about projecting strength. Bringing Amelia here is more for your companionship than for the sake of protecting her. Ask yourself, boy, what sort of message will you be sending the Volgrim if you bring people you care about into a secret realm? It will tell them that you fear reprisal!"
Solomon and Hope walk into a large, lavish golden hall with a table capable of seating over a hundred people. As soon as Hope enters, several ethereal maids and butlers materialize, formed from the magical power contained within the Hall of Heroes. They quickly spread out and begin creating a delicious meal fit for a king while Hope walks over and sits at the head of the table.
"You're saying I should project fearlessness and strength." Hope says. "But will that truly deter Unarin? Everyone seems to think he's an extremely intelligent leader. What if he sees through my ploy?"
Solomon sits on Hope's right, at the seat of honor. The two of them together somehow make the dining hall feel even bigger and lonelier than it did before they entered.
"Your line of thinking is too simple." Solomon says slowly. "Let's recap the actions you've taken."
He pauses.
"First, you sneaked through all of Volgarius without raising any alarms. It can be seen by how the Volgrim did not confront you until your arrival on Serris that they were not even certain you were present. This indicates a lapse in their detection capabilities."
"Are you sure that's the case?" Hope asks. "Looking back, it's pretty obvious the Volgrim suspected I was on Volgarius. Sangin Lidra was probably the one to tip them off."
"That's right. They 'suspected' you were on Volgarius." Solomon says meaningfully. "But they did not know for certain. I believe none of them could actually detect your presence. Perhaps not even Founder Dosena herself! Only Confessor Vulpanix had the ability to do so."
"Too bad I couldn't kill her for good..." Hope mutters, his eyes narrowing to slits. "If she's the only one who can properly detect me, I should make sure to finish the job sometime in the future."
Solomon nods. "Returning to my previous point: The second action you took was to engage in dialogue with Confessor Vulpanix, a dialogue in which you easily outwitted her, crushed her spirit, and broke her mind and body. She fled in a manner most pathetic, bringing shame to the Volgrim Empire. This has demonstrated to the Volgrim that you are not a pushover like Jason, ready to go to any length to be their friend. You punished them for their words and misdeeds. You took decisive action!"
"A lot of that was just you feeding me what to do, though." Hope points out.
"So? Unarin is the thinker, and Dosena is his powerhouse. You and I can be thought of in much the same way. Few people are capable of being the brains and the brawn. Just look at Duke Bael, for instance. He may be one of the most powerful demons in terms of physical strength, but as for his brain, heh."
Hope nods. "If he ever wised up, he'd become a real threat."
Solomon nods. "The last action you took was to obliterate Serris. This sent a message to the Volgrim not only that you were capable of doing so, but willing to do so. The destruction of an entire planet is not a casual act. Anyone who can accomplish such a feat automatically elevates themselves to an extremely high threat level. The Volgrim know Jason destroyed Polaris with a Supernova, and now with your added feat, they will dread doing anything that might set you off again."
"I also set clear limitations." Hope points out. "The Volgrim will know, or soon realize, I only destroyed the planet because Vulpanix pissed me off. As long as they tread lightly, they will be safe."
"That's right." Solomon says, smiling encouragingly. "But, think of the message you will send if you immediately try to whisk away Amelia, Neil, and a bunch of other people close to you. What will the Volgrim think if after demonstrating such power, you begin hiding people from their wrath?"
"They'll think I'm scared..." Hope says slowly. "But won't they think that anyway if I bring Amelia here?"
"Not necessarily. She is your future spouse, after all. Having her by your side is only natural." Solomon replies. "The same is not true of Neil and the rest. Leaving Neil relatively unprotected serves as a sign of confidence. It won't be hard for the Volgrim to realize that you and him are close friends. If they were to capture and threaten him, they would have leverage over you, but that is also a terrible mistake they would never make. From Unarin's point of view, you should appear a cunning rationalist who is willing to go to any length to punish injustice... even the blatant murder of billions of Volgrim on Serris."
Hope nods, unbothered by the extreme actions he took only a few days earlier. "Alright. So let's assume I spent a few years mastering these artifacts. What then?"
"Do you want me to plan out your every move?" Solomon asks, raising an eyebrow. "I certainly can, but you are this era's current living Hero. It would not be entirely appropriate for me to coddle you."
"Right, yeah..." Hope mutters. "I have my own ideas. Well, for now, I think I'll bring Amelia here. Worry about the other stuff later. I've got time."
"Time aplenty, though not an eternity." Solomon affirms. "Take care to spend what time you do have efficiently."
Hope nods. He waves Solomon away, and after the old man has disappeared, he utters a Word of Power.
"Return."
An instant later, a figure materializes on his right side, hunched over.
"What the- aah!"
Amelia cries out in alarm, toppling over as she loses her balance. Hope jumps out of his chair.
"Oh, lord! I'm sorry, honey! I didn't realize you were- man I'm an idiot, sometimes."
Amelia rises to her feet with Hope's assistance. As he pulls her up, she gives him a pouty look of annoyance, followed immediately by a quick look of shock around the luxurious room filled with gold and jewels.
"Where the heck...? Where am I?"
"This is the Hall of Heroes." Hope explains. "A lot has happened. Sorry, I've been a bit busy over the last few days."
Hope launches into a brief but information-packed explanation of his recent exploits, causing Amelia's head to spin.
"You blew up an entire PLANET?!" Amelia cries, the blood draining from her face. "What is wrong with you? Hope! That's... that's EVIL!"
"They are our enemies." Hope says quietly, schooling his face. "You didn't see what the Volgrim did to the humans they captured. They kept cloning people, murdering them, then they would repeat the process again. It was barbaric."
Amelia inhales a quick breath. "But you've always told me that the actions I took when I was the Black Queen were evil and that I should seek redemption. Now you're going out and murdering planets too?? This is really screwed up!"
Hope winces. "Things aren't quite that cut and dry, Amelia... they're just not. But I can't say more right now. Just know that I had a good reason for doing everything I've done."
Amelia closes her eyes. She rubs her hand against her eyelids as if to try and scrub her memories clean.
"I don't get it... but... I guess I can't take the high ground here. I'm just as bad as you."
"No, no, that's not the case at all." Hope says, gently touching her shoulder. "There's a lot going on, alright? In a few years, you'll understand the ploy I've worked out. For now, I just needed to get you inside the Hall of Heroes so you'd be safe from the Volgrim."
"A few years?" Amelia asks, lifting her head. "What do you mean?"
"Ahaha... well... we're not exactly in the physical realm anymore." Hope replies.
He spends another few minutes bringing her up to speed not only on the events that have transpired, but also his plans for the near and far future.
"So you're going to master all of the Artifacts? And then you'll be able to stomp the Volgrim if they ever cross you?" Amelia asks.
Hope smiles. "Not just the Volgrim. The demons too... and most importantly, the Plague. As bad as the Volgrim are, the Plague is our worst nightmare. We can't allow it to strike humanity's worlds."
Hope invites her to sit at the table. With Solomon gone, Hope opts to sit beside his fiance. They calm down while the maids and butlers stroll in, plates full of piping hot food. Meats, vegetables, all sorts of entrees arrive, making Amelia raise an eyebrow.
"Bit wasteful, don't you think? We can't eat all this."
"Bah, we don't have to." Hope retorts. "I can just Wordsmith any leftovers back into their raw ingredients."
"Who are these people anyway?" Amelia asks, gesturing to the blank-eyed palace attendants.
"Constructs. Not unlike the ones Jason made, but mine are a bit simpler and easier to make."
The Second Wordsmith opens his mouth in an 'aha' expression. "That reminds me! I think it's about time I took care of business."
Amelia watches with a quizzical expression as Hope summons the mightiest artifact in existence to his palm.
Excalibur, the Divine Blade!
Hope uses a Word of Power to materialize the sword from elsewhere in the Hall of Heroes.
"Excalibur powers this entire realm." Hope explains. "And it still has tons of energy left over. It's actually ridiculous how much mana one little sword can wield. It's like a supergiant star that never runs out of juice."
Amelia curls her upper lip. "I don't like swords much. Certainly not that one."
"Huh? You don't?" Hope asks.
"No. It reminds me of Joan." Amelia says, her tone low. "Remember? Joan took over Arthur's body and... tortured me."
"Ah. Well, Arthur himself isn't like that." Hope says, turning his attention to the divine blade. "Projection."
With a single Word of Power, Hope reaches into Excalibur and activates the soul contained within.
King Arthur materializes a few feet away, his body appearing partially transparent but also surprisingly whole. The Hero-King glances around, then locks eyes with Amelia.
"Ah. Black Witch..."
Amelia slowly blinks her eyes. "Arthur."
Hope frowns.
"You know each other?"
"We fought." Arthur says. "A long time ago. She doesn't have the same aura anymore, that fearsome Hunger that used to be so evident on her face, but she was a terrible foe back in the day. I won't forget her for as long as I live."
Amelia faintly smiles. "I'm not 'technically' Amelia, if you must know."
She looks at Hope.
"Don't you remember? I'm the person who killed Arthur."
"WHAT?" Hope cries, leaning away from her. "No way! You never told me!"
"I didn't think I needed to. You have Jason's memories. Don't you remember when I summoned Arthur and Satan to fight Jason? I killed Arthur and seized his body, but I was unable to lay claim to his soul. So it entered Excalibur, leaving me with his mindless flesh-half."
"Black Witch." Arthur repeats. "Body thief. City eater. In the end, you met your demise. Now you're not even the same woman who slew me following my Greatest Sin. I hold no more animosity toward you."
"Yeah. I, or rather, the original Amelia, wasn't exactly in her right mind back then anyway." Amelia says, shrugging helplessly. "I kind of had a dragon inside me."
"Happens to the best of us." Arthur concludes.
Hope scratches his head. When he called his fiance here, he had completely overlooked her relationship with the Hero-King. In hindsight, it should have been obvious to him, making him feel a little foolish.
"Err, let's move on." Hope says, trying to wave away the slightly tense and awkward atmosphere. "Arthur! I brought you here because I've had something on my mind for a while now. Only now do I have the opportunity to make it happen."
The handsome golden-haired King crosses his arms and smiles. "Oh? Go on."
"I have a body for you. The perfect body." Hope says. "You can finally return to the real world to aid me by wielding Excalibur at its full power. I also plan to make bodies for all of the past Heroes, at least the ones who want them."
"Ah." Arthur says, immediately looking less interested. "Well, I appreciate the thought, young Hero, but my time is over. I've no interest in returning to a corporeal existence. I'd much rather continue to stay within the Divine Blade."
Hope grins. "I thought you might say that. But don't jump ahead of yourself! You've yet to see the body you can possess! And you don't have to possess it all the time. You could always jump into it during times of great danger. It would help me feel more at ease if you were available to help humanity."
"I don't really think it matters how suitable the body is." Arthur says, slowly shaking his head. "You misunderstand. I am undeserving of returning to reality. The sin I carry... the lives I've taken... I forfeited my right to be called a Hero. Let alone a Hero-King, such titles are unbefitting of me. I'm afraid I'll have to refuse."
Hope pauses. Slightly surprised by Arthur's insistence, he didn't expect the Hero-King to reject him so thoroughly.
"Well... look, just give the body a once-over, alright? Maybe you'll change your mind."
He pauses.
"Summon."
A moment later, Hope summons the Arthur Construct to his side from elsewhere in the Hall of Heroes. The Arthur Construct stands tall and proud, its physical appearance perfectly mimicking Arthur's soul-body. Even Amelia raises an eyebrow.
"It's a perfect replica of the man." Amelia says, before turning to Hope. "Well... except..."
"Haha..." Arthur laughs awkwardly. "You've gone to such an effort, it does make me feel a bit embarrassed to continue denying your request. This is indeed a mighty body."
"Right?" Hope says, suddenly feeling a little put-off by the looks Amelia and Arthur are giving him. "But you still don't want it?"
"I did not want the, ahem, the 'body' before, and that stands even more so now." Arthur says. "She's certainly a mighty warrior, to be sure."
"Right..." Hope says slowly. "Any particular reas- wait, did you say 'she'?"
Amelia and Arthur exchange glances.
The former Black Queen coughs into her fist.
"Ahem. Hope, uh... you... you do know there's a female soul inside of this body, right?"
"Huh?" Hope says, glancing at the construct, then back to the other two. "What do you mean? The construct is soulless."
Arthur squints at Hope, making a weird grimacing expression.
"Ahhh... so you haven't noticed. Well, that explains your... lack of manners. Indeed, there is a soul inside that body, boy. And it is female..."
Arthur turns his attention to the construct.
"I apologize for the Wordsmith's rudeness. He seems to be lacking in the... soul-sensing department."
The Construct says nothing. It slowly blinks, then nods at Arthur.
"You have a soul?" Hope asks, now visibly bewildered. "Can you speak?"
The Construct looks at Hope, then nods.
"But you've never said anything before!" Hope protests. "All this time!"
Finally, the construct opens its mouth.
"I did not feel comfortable doing so."
Finally hearing the Arthur Construct speak for the first time ever, Hope can practically feel his mind explode inside his skull. He stands up and stares in wide-eyed fascination.
"Well- I mean, I- I feel terrible! I've been talking about you all this time as if you were a robot or something!"
The Construct nods. "Yes. You were rude."
Despite its voice being masculine, as well as its appearance, Hope gets the impression the Construct might be... offended.
"Are you truly a woman?"
"I am." The Construct affirms. "And I do not like my appearance."
"Oh..." Hope mumbles.
Feeling a little dispirited, Hope scratches the back of his head.
"I wish you'd said something sooner. I didn't mean to give you a sense of... body dysphoria, or whatever."
"I didn't think you'd care." The Construct says slowly. "You needed a weapon. I am a weapon. I fight. I kill. That is all."
"Hope, you're such a jerk." Amelia teases. "I think you should make her look prettier, now."
Hope nods. "Would you... like to look more feminine?"
Immediately, the Arthur Construct takes a step toward Hope. She gets right in his face, her expression bland and unchanged.
"I would."
Hope takes a step back, feeling deeply intimidated by her stoic attitude.
"A-alright. Uh. One second..."
Hope closes his eyes to form a mental image of a female King Arthur. As he does, he happens to look inside his Mind Realm, where he sees King Arthur stifling a hearty laugh.
[The hell are you guffawing about?] Hope thinks. [WAIT! Did you know the whole time?!]
Solomon lets a little air escape his lips. [Pff. Pffff... yes... it was quite amusing, I must admit. Your inability to sense different types of souls is your funniest quality!]
[Dickhead.] Hope grumbles. [At least help me construct a new appearance for her.]
[Oh, certainly.] Solomon says. [I've been waiting for you to notice for ages! I already have one prepared.]
[You already had one... ugh.] Hope grumbles, even more annoyed.
He opens his eyes as images of a female face and body materialize in his mind.
"Appearance. Shift. Hair. Eyes. Face. Shoulders. Muscles. Torso. Breasts..."
He quickly fires off several dozen Words of Power, changing the female Arthur's body rapidly, causing her hair to become far longer, her eyes to expand, and her figure to become visibly more feminine.
After a full minute of transformation, Hope ceases his work. He glances at Amelia and Arthur, then back to the Construct.
"Well? What do you two think?"
Amelia blinks twice. Stars dance in her eyes. "Pretty..."
Arthur clears his throat. "So this is how I might have looked if I were born a woman, hm? I could fall for myself."
The new female Arthur stands just as tall and imposing as her original self. With a powerful, muscular body, she looks no less intimidating than Arthur himself. But now, her face appears much more beautiful and feminine, along with the rest of her body. Her long golden hair hangs down to her waist, and her sparkling blue eyes truly captivate one's imagination.
She turns to a nearby mirror hanging on the wall, then walks over to examine herself. After running her hands through her hair and lightly touching her face, she nods.
"Acceptable."
Hope chuckles. "You're not much for words, are you, uh..."
"Artoria." The Construct says. "My name will be Artoria. You will refer to me as such."
Despite her bland tone, Hope gets the impression she might actually be threatening him if he doesn't comply. He hurriedly nods.
"Right! Artoria Pendragon! We'll just say you're Arthur's... twin sister! How about that? Sorry for my earlier misunderstanding. I can be a tad dense sometimes."
Artoria walks over to Hope. She stares at him for a few seconds with the same unchanging, intense gaze she always does.
"Yes, you can. But I forgive you."
"Wow..." Hope mutters. "Somehow, you're way scarier when you talk."

2023.03.29 18:52 Klokinator Cryopod Refresh 481: The Hall of Heroes

2023.03.29 18:51 Material_Trainer_ HBAR token from Hedera Hashgraph a responsibly governed decentralized network

The current conjuncture turns HBAR into a "golden share".
In the next couple of weeks, you should pay close attention to the HBAR token from Hedera Hashgraph. Based on market analysis, HBAR is about to become a bull that can pull its value high enough - and this moment needs to be caught. It is not known whether HBAR will be able to reach $10 per token, as a number of analysts predicted at the beginning of 2023, but few doubt that the cost will increase by 50%. Here is their website: https://hedera.com
This confidence is based on several facts.
Most recently, HBAR successfully coped with a powerful attack using an exploit. Hackers tried to use the code of the smart contract service of the main Hedera network to withdraw tokens, but did not succeed. Nevertheless, the volume of the total value locked (TVL) has sunk, along with the value of HBAR - which means that a rebound will occur soon.
In the last few days, the Hedera price has been consolidating near the demand zone and demonstrates the formation of a short-term base.
The first and main element of the inevitable demand for HBAR is the Hedera Hashgraph project itself. Hashgraph is not a typical bitcoin blockchain, but its own algorithm that is maximally configured for trading. Instead of adding combined transaction blocks to the network, Hedera uses a protocol called "gossip about gossip" (DAG) to check the time sequence and validity before entering individual transactions into the registry.
Hashgraph differs from the blockchain in several very important features for trading.
- Qualitatively new bandwidth. Hedera Hashgraph is capable of processing up to 5 million transactions daily. Now the throughput has reached 10k transactions per second, but thanks to network segmentation, the frequency of transactions is in principle unlimited. Each operation takes from 3 to 5 seconds.
- It's cheaper. HBAR owners pay only $0.001 per transaction, and the energy consumption for processing each transaction does not exceed 0.000003 kWh. A striking difference compared to the average 885 kW for BTC and 102 kW for ETH.
- This is a full-fledged stock exchange asset, since the Hedera Hashgraph management board includes Google, IBM, LG, Boeing, Deutsche Telekom and a number of others.
If we study such standard schemes for token analysis as Moving Average (for 200 days), Parabolic SAR and Falling Wedge, then the bullish trend of HBAR becomes obvious.
There are at least three serious factors that ensure HBAR growth by several tens of percent in the near future. And the Hedera Hashgraph background guarantees that the value of HBAR will definitely not go to zero. It looks like a promising asset.
There's something else. HBAR successfully overcame a major attack launched in mid-March. The attackers used an exploit and were able to reduce the parameter of the total blocked value (TVL) in dApps and blockchain.
However, the margin of safety of HBAR turned out to be exceptionally high, the coin just lay on the bottom for a while, and is now preparing to make a powerful jump.
The markets agree with this assessment, as can be seen in the table. The level of trust in HBAR and HEDERA is exceptionally high.

2023.03.29 18:48 Haunting_Argument206 How do people get over the fear of death?

I finally started figuring things out about myself.
I’ve learned how to better manage my depression. I finally love who I am and I don’t have any problems with how I’m living. If I do, I make the necessary changes to lead a more healthy life.
Now that I’ve figured this stuff out, I just have this feeling of impending doom. I feel like something bad is going to happen to me and I have no idea what it could be.
I’ve never pissed anyone off. At least not since I was a child. I really try to be good to people.
I could just use some advice and this sub has some of the most insightful people i’ve ever seen. I hope this doesn’t break sub rules but this sub really does have some good people.
I’m going to trip sometime in the next month or so, some advice about how to approach death without causing a bad trip would be helpful as well.
I’ve never broken through on DMT and people say that’s pretty near death so maybe that’ll help me in some way. But I don’t want to use DMT as an escape. I can’t help feeling like I’d just be trying to get a high or something. Even though that’s not my intention at all.
All responses are helpful.

2023.03.29 18:48 UpAndAdamNP What's your favorite fun deck?

I've been free to play since the beginning of Miles Morales season and have recently just finished Series 3 of cards. I've made and tried just about every deck I have seen and all the major archetypes the game has to offer. I'm gonna list my top favorite decks that I've played, why I like them, and maybe other people would want to share too!
1) Agatha deck: Agatha is a really interesting card to me. It's an extra card in your hand at the beginning of the game, and if you're also playing with America Chavez, you're essentially playing a ten card deck which is super consistent. I've had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to get her out of my hand as quickly as possible while also putting out a surprising amount of power. Great fun and gets cubes more often than it loses. 10/10 deck
2) Cerebro deck: Cerebro was one of my last unlocks, but I have easily played more Cerebro matches than others combined. Something about matching the power of all cards played to drop Cerebro& Mystique last turn is super satisfying. 2 has been my favorite so far, but 3 has been easier to deal with bad locations messing up your plans with Rhino and Scarlet Witch, and Bast can make non-3 cards viable. Overall, super fun deck. 10/10
3) Valkyrie deck: At first I thought Valkyrie was an awful card, but then I figured out how to use her properly and now she is one of my favorites. She is a part of a Wong Spectrum ongoing deck that can either output a ton of power or surprise your opponent by making their 64 power Zola'd Black Panther down to a 3. This was a great deck for getting hard reads and really synergizes well with each other. 9/10
4) Mr. Negative Deck: This deck was definitely one of my favorites, and went through a lot of changes as I unlocked more and more cards. Jane Foster and Iron Man definitely do some heavy lifting of the deck, but when it all comes together it is a spectacular turn 6/7 explosion of unexpected power. I live for those matches when you get that perfect opening hand and your opponent has already snapped. 8/10
5) Lockjaw Discard: When I was in series 2, I wanted discard to work so badly, but couldn't consistently either hit my cards or put out enough power. I tried Nakia and Okeye to pump up Swarm, but it was too inconsistent and finicky. Once I got the idea of putting in Lockjaw, it just clicked. I was getting super high Apocalypse, Morbius was popping off, and when I finally got Dracula I was in business. It wins games and was a lot of fun to fine tune. However, repeated plays do get boring because of how scripted the deck plays, and I have to mark it down because of that. 6/10
Some honorable mentions go out to my Win With 1 deck, my Champions of Asgard deck that feature Thor, Jane, Odin, and Heimdall, and my degenerate DeathWave deck.

2023.03.29 18:48 North_Cartoonist_846 Zeitarbeit / racketeering / making pressure ( Legal Rights discussion )

Hello everyone !Let me put this as short as possible since I need advice on only one element of this.So , I started working for a certain Zeitfirma in wider Hamburg area (Schleswig Holstein) and as my first employment they sent me to a food production plant near the place I live. At first everything was running smooth except for two days where I got sent off for certain problems regarding my girlfriend being COVID positive and I had a virosis induced diarrhea so working with food came out of any question. Since they still haven`t made my insurance running at the moment of this they stated how I can stay at home but they won`t count that in and I won't get paid. I am quite desperate with finding a job at the moment so I said fine and this had passed without any further complications. In the third week of my employment in this food factory I was in nightshift from 22 to 6.00 it was Thursday and a co-worker whom is not there from the Zeitfirma had came to work with visible Corona symptoms and was showing highly unsanitary conduct ( picking his nose , coughing and leaving tissues everywhere etc. ) and we work with a lot of food on the floor. It was around 5 in the morning and I started feeling very weak , my throat was burning and my nose was dry , it was clear to me that I have contracted COVID. I warned my floor manager about it to which he just swiped his hand and gave me a corny joke "Yes yes here this man he is Corona! " and sent me off to wrap up my shift. Ok, I found this quite condescending, also very irresponsible but nevertheless I finished my shift and went to the train station afterwards. In the train station the very man that I suspected of coming in sick almost braggingly stated in front of some work colleagues and another floor shift leader how he has COVID, to which the floor team leader asked him "And , did you get tested?" to which the latter stated "No I haven't!" and they all had a cheerful laugh while they were getting into a train full to the brim of unsuspecting passengers. When I got home I tested myself and of course I was positive.I Immediately warned my Zeitfirma about the irregularities and how one of people there brought sickness to the workplace and how they should warn them since it is food industry , to which to my utmost surprise the Zeitfirma worker said condescendingly " Na ja, sie haben ihren Feierabend, jetzt rufe ich sie am Montag an! Gute Besserung Tschus! " which was a schoking reply to me since it was Friday and people would show up there to work one more day with a risk of getting sick and contamingating food. So I also reported everything to the company itself and their boss.
So this is where it starts to get really interesting!Since I have heavy symptoms, as a matter of fact I am still sick I got a Krankmeldung and got a sick leave until Friday. Zeitfirma leader contacted me to inform me how they let me off in this food factory and how it was not good what I did notifying them of sickness in the factory and they started turning the blame towards me how it is my fault that I got sick and how they had to send me off for not showing up for work and having a sick leave longer than they can handle it. Also the lady was very passive aggresive and was angry about me reporting these irregularities to the food factory management. They also informed me how from next Monday they will be sending me to another company to which I agreed to, but because of all their super dodgy practices and only calling in the phone to discuss things knowing that my German is not so good I sent them an email stating how from now on I will only accept communication with them in written form (SMS or E-mail) , to which I got another very passive aggressive email which I am going to leave here in full :
Hallo Herr yxz,
So practically they are again threatening me and trying to gaslight me again into obedience and doing with me however they please with a threat of firing me in full if I don't take their phone calls since it is making their amazingly hard job harder. LOL
My question here is , is it my right to hold the communication with them only on E-mail and SMS to have written evidence of our communication ? Since getting phone calls at any times in my free time and no trace of their actions I find quite "Cosa Nostra" like.
What should I do ?Thank you all very much for your replies in advance.

2023.03.29 18:48 nebula-eternia How do I appeal DPS decision?

Currently Saxenda is only being approved if someone meets the following criteria:
1) BMI of 35+ AND 2.1)High risk of cardiovascular disease (cholesterol and high blood pressure tests needed) Or 2.2) Prediabetic (Fasting glucose and HbA1C test)
I've managed to lose nearly 100lbs so far. And as as a result my blood pressure/cholesterol/glucose levels are all perfect for my height/age. However my bmi is still 49 and my doctor says I'm still higher risk for illness and would benefit from Saxenda to help break my plateau(been struggling to lose for over a year now)
However the HSE has denied my application.
It doesn't make sense to me, we're constantly told how being obese ends up costing taxpayers in the long run and how preventative measures save governments billions. But when we try to avail of the tools we need to lose weight, we're blocked. It's so frustrating.
Does anyone know how to appeal this?
Thanks
